- 0:00Galatians, chapter one, let us pray our Father who is in
- 0:10heaven, Lord, we are exalting your holy name above all the
- 0:17other names and the principalities in this world.
- 0:19God, I pray that you'll RIP down any strongholds of opposition in
- 0:25our lives and in our minds and in our emotions.
- 0:28God, we exalt you, Lord, above all of our circumstances, above
- 0:34all the things that try to drag us away.
- 0:36God, we fix our eyes upon you, the author of our faith and the
- 0:41perfecter of our faith. And Lord, we are asking God for
- 0:46your will and your Kingdom to come to this earth just as it is
- 0:51there. Lord, we know that you have gone
- 0:53to prepare a place for us. We know that where you are, we
- 0:57will be. We know that we are seated with
- 0:59you in heavenly places. We yearn and long God, for the
- 1:04return of the groom. We keep our lamps full.
- 1:08Today we are filled with the Holy Spirit.
- 1:12Father, pour the oil out in greater measure, let it run down
- 1:16the cup and overflow into the highways and the hedges and the
- 1:20byways, into the homeless shelters.
- 1:23God into the homeless communities, God into the
- 1:27hospitals, Lords, schools, Lord into the courtrooms.
- 1:31Father, I pray Holy Spirit, you will fill us overflowing.
- 1:34God Almighty, we pray for your Kingdom to come and your will to
- 1:39be done here on this earth just as it is there in heaven.
- 1:42Let us be the ministers of reconciliation.
- 1:44Let us be those that go out and snatch the firebrands out, God,
- 1:49and clothe them with your righteousness.
- 1:51Lord, we pray in the name of Jesus that you will help us,
- 1:54Lord, to snatch those out of the frigid waters and get them into
- 1:58the lifeboats. Help us to get into Christ as
- 2:01Noah got into the boat. Father, I pray that we'll be in
- 2:05Christ and Christ in us, and we'll abide and produce much
- 2:09fruit. Help us, Lord, to love you more,
- 2:12to see you on every single page, every syllable, in every moment
- 2:17of every single day. God sold out completely.
- 2:21Bond servants lay down lovers of you, Yeshua, God, we love you.
- 2:26King Jesus, yes I used this. We love you Father, we love you
- 2:31with all of our heart, with all of our mind, with all of our
- 2:33strength. Help us to love our neighbor as
- 2:36our self. Lord, we're praying for fresh
- 2:39bread today. God, give us the manna and the
- 2:42quail and let the water flow out of the rock.
- 2:45God, the living water, I pray that we can drink and dine and
- 2:49Sup and feast sumptuously upon the flesh of Christ and upon the
- 2:54blood of Christ today. God, I pray in the name of Jesus
- 2:58that you will help us, Lord, to see Jesus high and lifted up
- 3:03above all entities. Lord, we look up at the bronze
- 3:09snake upon the pole, Father, and we receive salvation today.
- 3:13We thank you for the blood of Christ, Calvary Gog.
- 3:18Lord, we thank you that we can receive him and that we can know
- 3:24him and that we can see him. Yes, Father, we love you.
- 3:30Lord, we pray that as we open the Word that is alive and
- 3:35active, that it will discern us and correct us and rebuke us,
- 3:39that it will correct us and discipline.
- 3:43Lord, let it be the very life flow through our bodies.
- 3:50God, I pray in the name of Jesus that you'll forgive us for all
- 3:54the times that we came up short, all of our sinfulness and
- 3:58trespasses and transgressions. God, I pray that we'll extend
- 4:02that forgiveness out to those all around us, God, not lording
- 4:06it over them, not trying to use leverage over people, God, But
- 4:12we will act as if it has never happened, Lord, because we know
- 4:16that that is how you treat us. God will turn the other cheek.
- 4:19We will not hold things against others, Lord, but as they ask
- 4:25for forgiveness, and even if they don't, we already forgive
- 4:29them, Lord, because they know not what they do or not.
- 4:33Pray God that You'll keep us from the evil one, keep us from
- 4:39the accuser of the brethren, Keep us God, from the tempter.
- 4:44Lord, help us not to give in to sin and lustful desires and help
- 4:50us not to covet. God, help us not to be greedy.
- 4:54Help us not to be self seeking and vain.
- 4:57God, I pray in the name of Jesus that you'll rescue us from
- 5:01ourselves, Lord, and from all the depravity of humanity.
- 5:05God, help us not to sink down into the muck and the mire.
- 5:09Help us not to give in to the flesh Father, but help us to
- 5:13live. Vic for Jesus Christ on fire for
- 5:17all of eternity. God, we worship you in spirit
- 5:21and truth. Yes, Father God, we love you.
- 5:25God, I'm praying in the name of Jesus Christ that it'll be your
- 5:31Kingdom and your power and your glory forever and ever exalted
- 5:38for all of eternity, for now and for all time's sake and for
- 5:44ever. We just want to be with you.
- 5:47We thank you for the down payment of the Holy Spirit.
- 5:51We thank You for the sealing that you have set upon us, the
- 5:57seal. God, we thank You that we can
- 6:02see in part, But Lord, we desire to see fully.
- 6:06Open our eyes up to this wonderful words.
- 6:09Open our minds up and our hearts up, God, as we open Your Word
- 6:13up, teach us your eternal paths. Holy Spirit, let us put on the
- 6:18full armor today and withstand all the fiery darts of the
- 6:22enemy. Help us to produce all the
- 6:27fruits of the Spirit today. Help us not to go back into our
- 6:33natural way of thinking, the moralistic way of living.
- 6:38God help us to come up to where you are and to see this world
- 6:42the way that you do. We love you, King Jesus, it's
- 6:45all about you. I decrease as you increase and
- 6:48to send your holy precious name that I pray, Amen.
- 6:55Well, let's start in verse one. Paul, an apostle not of men,
- 7:02neither by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who
- 7:08raised him from the dead. So here Paul is going to start
- 7:12talking about how he did not receive all of the things that
- 7:16he taught from man. He received them from God
- 7:19Almighty and from Jesus Christ himself on the road to Damascus
- 7:25and in Arabia for 12 years. And Paul's going to give you the
- 7:30credentials that marked his ministry, and he's going to tell
- 7:35us how they are trustworthy because they came straight from
- 7:39our Lord too, and all the brothers which are with me unto
- 7:44the churches of Galatia. So these Galatians, they were a
- 7:48barbaric group of Gauls who came down into Greece.
- 7:54And here Paul, on his missionary journey, founded this church.
- 7:58And this was a bunch of different churches in that
- 8:01region that he's actually writing to, which is the region
- 8:04of Galatia. And that is what you need to
- 8:06understand. And there is so much historical
- 8:10proof, and there is so much archaeological proof that Paul
- 8:16came and Christianized this little region here in Galatia. 3
- 8:21grace be to you, and peace from God the Father and from our Lord
- 8:25Jesus Christ. So he's giving them a
- 8:27salutation. He's saying grace and peace.
- 8:30And Paul talked more about grace and peace than any other writer
- 8:34in the New Testament. He is the author of this gospel
- 8:42of grace and peace. And just so you know, we cannot
- 8:46have peace apart from a relationship with God through
- 8:49His Son Jesus Christ. And the gift of peace is from
- 8:55God. And that is the only way you
- 8:58will ever know peace is if God gives it to you.
- 9:03And it is through knowing that you will not have to answer for
- 9:09any of the sins that you have ever committed, past, present or
- 9:14future because of the work of the cross.
- 9:16But we must operate in this spirit of grace, friends, this
- 9:21free gifting. And if you show me somebody who
- 9:24is abusing grace and somebody who just thinks that they're
- 9:29licensed to sin, they can just sin it all the more so that
- 9:32grace will abound. I'll show you somebody who does
- 9:35not know our Lord Jesus Christ and they do not have the peace
- 9:39of God. They are being eaten up with
- 9:42their conscience and it is something that they are having
- 9:47to wrestle with and they've seared their consciences and
- 9:51they have no conviction because the Holy Spirit has grown silent
- 9:55in their life. They've grieved the Holy Spirit
- 9:58because they will not listen to the still small voice verse
- 10:03four, who gave himself for our sins that he might deliver us
- 10:08from this present evil world according to the will of God and
- 10:12our Father. So we can see that Jesus Christ
- 10:15willingly went to the cross and no one took his life from him
- 10:20but he, he gave up the ghost and he delivered us from all the
- 10:25evil that is in this world. He could instantaneously take us
- 10:30up and out as soon as we give our life to him, and he could
- 10:33keep us from all the evil. But what he does is he actually
- 10:39strengthen, strengthens us for the battle.
- 10:42He actually helps us to understand wisdom of places that
- 10:46we need to stay away from. And we can have wisdom to know
- 10:50that a divisive person is the swine that we must not throw our
- 10:57pearls to and cast our pearls to.
- 10:59And so that is what you need to know, is that when you come unto
- 11:02the Lord Jesus Christ and you acknowledge Him in all your
- 11:06ways, He will direct your steps and He will keep you from so
- 11:10much heartache. He will keep you from so many
- 11:13instances of these evil acts that are happening all around
- 11:20you. And we must stay in the fold and
- 11:24we must stay connected to the vine if we want to have the mind
- 11:30of Christ and know exactly what to do and when to do it and how
- 11:34to do it. And you will keep, you will be
- 11:36kept from so many instances of evil in this world. 52 Whom be
- 11:45glory forever and ever, Amen. Jesus Christ is the only one who
- 11:52deserves all the glory and the power, and the Kingdom forever
- 11:57and ever, Amen. 6 I marvel that you are so soon removed from him
- 12:04that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel.
- 12:09So here there were some false teachers and heretics who had
- 12:15snuck into the camp of the churches in Galatia and they
- 12:18started to preach another gospel.
- 12:21And it was not the gospel of grace.
- 12:24It was not the gospel of peace. It was the gospel of works and
- 12:29legalism. And Paul's going to hit the nail
- 12:32on the head. And he's not interested in
- 12:35mincing his words. He goes straight for the
- 12:39jugular. And he here is going to let them
- 12:41know at the outset of this letter what it's all about and
- 12:45not to trust these Judaizers who have crept in unaware and
- 12:50they're preaching a different gospel.
- 12:52And he tells them that they need to be anathem of to be cursed
- 12:56and to be cut off from the lineage and the heritage of our
- 12:59Lord Jesus Christ. They're perverting the gospel. 7
- 13:07which is not another, but there be some that trouble you and
- 13:12would pervert the gospel of Christ.
- 13:15So that is what Paul is desire is to write to the churches in
- 13:20Galatia to tell them to be on guard of anyone who creeps in
- 13:25and tries to push legalism on them.
- 13:32All of the power that we possess was won for us by Jesus Christ
- 13:43on the cross, not by trying to keep the law, not by trying to
- 13:49behave our way into heaven. And when you understand that,
- 13:54you will want to do the right thing.
- 13:56If someone sees that by coming to Jesus Christ, it means that
- 14:01their sins will never be counted against them.
- 14:03So they sin all the more that they do not know Jesus Christ.
- 14:08But for those of us who have truly placed our faith in the
- 14:13Lord Jesus Christ, and we see that there is nothing that we
- 14:17could ever do to make Him love us any less.
- 14:21There's nothing that we could ever do that would make Him
- 14:25accept us anymore. When we finally get to the
- 14:28realization that Jesus Christ said it is finished, that
- 14:33everything was paid for in full, then we will operate in a spirit
- 14:37of wanting to do the right thing, wanting to please Him
- 14:41because of how much He loves us and what He did for us.
- 14:45But you show me somebody who continuously operates in this
- 14:51spirit of abusing grace, and they do not know our Lord Jesus
- 14:55Christ. They have not yet caught a
- 14:57glimpse of His face and glory and power and majesty.
- 15:02Friends 8 But though we or an Angel from heaven, preach any
- 15:09other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you,
- 15:14let him be a curse. Paul is going to give a double
- 15:18curse upon any of these false teachers, these heretics, any of
- 15:23these that have crept into the church and are teaching all
- 15:26kinds of garbage about what the Bible says.
- 15:31And they're trying to twist God's words in the same way that
- 15:35Satan did in the garden. Friends, be aware, be on guard
- 15:40of those who look the part. But they are preaching another
- 15:43gospel. The gospel of our Lord Jesus
- 15:47Christ is simple. It's a simple gospel, friends,
- 15:51but we complicate it because we are not willing to accept the
- 15:55simplicity of it. We want to work our way into
- 15:59heaven. We want to be those that measure
- 16:04where we stand with God so that we can show others how super
- 16:09spiritual we are in comparison to them and that is not the way
- 16:13of our Lord Jesus Christ. The gospel is so simple that all
- 16:19who call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved.
- 16:24And if you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, and confess
- 16:29with your mouth God raised him from the dead, you will be saved
- 16:35friends. And that is what you need to
- 16:39know. And all who call on him friends,
- 16:44all who look on him friends shall be saved.
- 16:49It is a simple gospel. It is not to be worked base.
- 16:56It cannot be measured in the sense of looking in a lateral
- 17:02way. We must look vertical.
- 17:07We must look to him, look on him today and be saved.
- 17:13It is only by placing our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and
- 17:18receiving this peace and receiving this grace and
- 17:22receiving his righteousness and receiving the justification of
- 17:27all the things that Jesus Christ did for us that we are saved.
- 17:32It is not of anything that we do, friends.
- 17:36And there are so many people who have slipped off into legalism,
- 17:41they've slipped off into fundamentalism, they have
- 17:44slipped off into these Jewish roots movements where they think
- 17:50that they can somehow win more favor with God by working it out
- 17:56and by doing and keeping the law.
- 17:58And it has never amounted to anything but more condemnation,
- 18:03friends. And that is what you need to
- 18:06understand. And Paul here is warring against
- 18:10all of these legalists who have crept into the churches of
- 18:14Galatia, and they're trying to push all of the Jewish law upon
- 18:20the new converts there. And Paul will have no part of
- 18:25it, and neither should we. 9 As we said before.
- 18:31So I say now again, if any man preaches another gospel unto
- 18:37you, then that you have received, let him be cursed.
- 18:43Anathema, anathema friends completely cut off.
- 18:51There will be more judgment for those who offend these little
- 18:58ones, and it would be better for them to tie a millstone around
- 19:02their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea than to
- 19:07offend one of these little ones. Friends 10-4 Do I now persuade
- 19:17men or God? Do I seek to please men?
- 19:23If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
- 19:28Whom do we listen to, man or God?
- 19:33Who do we have to give an account to, man or God?
- 19:38Who should we try to please, man or God?
- 19:41Whose doctrine should we try to propagate, gods or man's?
- 19:46And that is what you need to understand.
- 19:48Paul here is saying he has an audience of 1.
- 19:55It is God and God alone that we are accountable to, and you need
- 20:03to understand that. We do not need to be stumbling
- 20:06blocks to our brothers and sisters, but we do not need to
- 20:11be so incredibly obsessive over what other people think about
- 20:17us. We need to allow God to give us
- 20:22our dignity, our identity. We need to allow God to give us
- 20:32our worth. And let fear of man break off of
- 20:36you today, friends. 11 But I certify you, brothers, that the
- 20:44gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
- 20:47And Paul's going to tell them in Galatia how he received all of
- 20:53the doctrine in the ministry and all of his theology here. 12 For
- 21:00I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by
- 21:04the revelation of Jesus Christ. So Paul received it on the road
- 21:08to Damascus whenever he was blinded, and Jesus showed him
- 21:12the things that he must suffer for his name's sake, friends.
- 21:17And Paul didn't go and try to receive any of his doctrine from
- 21:22the apostles, and he was not part of the 12 when they walked
- 21:28during Jesus's earthly ministry. And so he's saying I received it
- 21:33from the revelation of Jesus Christ.
- 21:36Jesus taught him all of the doctrine.
- 21:39Friends, what an amazing fact. 13 for you.
- 21:44I've heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews religion.
- 21:51How that beyond measure. I persecuted the Church of God
- 21:55and wasted it. So Paul was zealous for God, he
- 22:00was zealous for the law, he was more zealous than any of his
- 22:04constituents, so much so that he caused the early Christians to
- 22:09blasphemy God. He caused them to be thrown into
- 22:13prison and he killed them. And you can see here that Paul
- 22:17is saying, You heard of all the things that I used to do?
- 22:2214 and profited in the Jews religion above many my equals
- 22:28and my own nation being more exceedingly zealous of the
- 22:34traditions of my father's. So Paul had a zeal for God's law
- 22:40and he thought that this new sect of the Nazarenes that had
- 22:45popped up needed to be pushed down, needed to be pushed out,
- 22:54it needed to be quenched. And so he set out on the road to
- 23:02completely do away with this new movement that had sprang up
- 23:07overnight by the murder of a son of a Jewish Carpenter who
- 23:14claimed to be some kind of rogue St. preacher who claimed to be
- 23:18the son of God. And Paul thought it great
- 23:22blasphemy that this carpenter's son would try to claim to be
- 23:28equal with God. And so he set out to completely
- 23:31do away with all of the followers.
- 23:34And it was hard for him to kick against the goats, Friends. 15
- 23:41But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's
- 23:45womb and called me by his grace. Think about that, friends.
- 23:51God gives us free will, but he already knows what we're going
- 23:54to do. And that is where predestination
- 23:57and election comes from. And even though Paul, who was a
- 24:00hater of the Gentiles, became the minister to the Gentiles and
- 24:04God sits in heaven and he laughs, Friends, God is a God of
- 24:12irony. And you better be careful when
- 24:14you say I would never do this or that because that'll be the very
- 24:19thing that happens in your life, friends.
- 24:23And here Paul was chosen before he was ever born to be the one
- 24:29to write over 1/3 of the New Testament and to take the
- 24:33gospel, the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ all over the
- 24:37known world, and that he would be the minister to the Gentiles,
- 24:42friends and Peter minister to all the Jews.
- 24:46And this is the way of God. And that is what you need to
- 24:49understand. 16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach among
- 24:58him, among the heathen immediately I conferred not with
- 25:02flesh and blood. You can see that immediately
- 25:05after Paul receives his eyesight, whenever Ananias comes
- 25:11in and prays for him and the scales fall off his eyes, he
- 25:15goes straight to the synagogue and starts preaching Jesus as
- 25:20Lord Jesus as the Son of God. Jesus as the only way to
- 25:24salvation, Friends, Jesus as the only atonement and the only
- 25:29justification and the only way that we're ever going to make it
- 25:33into heaven is through the blood of Jesus Christ covering us from
- 25:37the top of our head to the bottom of our feet.
- 25:39Friends And Paul immediately, immediately goes into the
- 25:42synagogue and starts telling every single person about Jesus.
- 25:47And this was the very man just three days ago who was coming to
- 25:51arrest and to persecute all of the early church and the
- 25:54Christians. Friends, you can see it.
- 26:01He did not go and try to get his doctrine from someone else. 17
- 26:06Neither went I up to Jerusalem, to them which were apostles
- 26:11before me, But I went into Arabia and returned again unto
- 26:15Damascus. So Paul went and spent 12 years
- 26:19hanging out, receiving his doctrine from God and from
- 26:23Jesus. He did not try to be subservient
- 26:32to the apostles. He didn't try to go and sit
- 26:36underneath them and to learn all of his ways.
- 26:39He was receiving directly from my Lord Jesus Christ and he knew
- 26:44that he needed to get all of his bearings before he launched out
- 26:50on these missionary journeys. So he used the 12 years to truly
- 26:56get to know our Lord and to search his heart and to search
- 27:00all the scriptures and to get all of his bearings before he
- 27:04launched out in his missionary journeys all over the gnome
- 27:09world. 18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see
- 27:15Peter and abode with him. 15 days.
- 27:19So here Paul is going to see to sight see old Peter.
- 27:25He wanted to get to know him and but he was not there to receive
- 27:31any kind of doctrinal instruction from him. 19 But
- 27:37other of the apostles, I saw none except for James the Lord's
- 27:40brother. So we know that James, the
- 27:44Lord's brother who wrote the epistle James that we'll read
- 27:47together, We know that he was not a believer in his own
- 27:52brother while he walked the earth in his earthly ministry.
- 27:56But something happened, something clicked later where
- 27:59James became the prominent leader in the synagogue in
- 28:05Jerusalem, friends. And we see that in the book of
- 28:08Acts, he was the leader there. And so Paul goes up to sightsee
- 28:13old James as well, when he Now the things which I write unto
- 28:19you, behold, before God I lie not so Paul saying, I am not
- 28:24lying, do not try to charge me with any of that.
- 28:28That is not of God, that is of the devil.
- 28:32He is the father of lies. And we do not lie.
- 28:35We tell the truth, we stand on truth.
- 28:38That is the belt that holds the entire armor together is truth.
- 28:43We do not lie. We are not deceitful.
- 28:46We do not try to cover things up.
- 28:48We boldly hit the nail on the head.
- 28:50We say it like it is. We don't try to sugarcoat and
- 28:54cover things up. It is what it is.
- 28:57Take your lashings and move on and make sure you're not being
- 29:00persecuted for doing wrong. If you get persecuted for doing
- 29:04right, there is much reward in that.
- 29:07Friends, we do not live a lie. We are not marked by lies.
- 29:11And Paul here is saying, Do not try to attach that connotation
- 29:15unto me. Before God is my witness, I
- 29:18speak the truth, 21. Afterwards I came into the
- 29:24regions of Syria and Silesia, 22 and was unknown by face unto the
- 29:32churches of Judea, which were in Christ. 23 But they had heard
- 29:38only that he which persecuted us in times past now preaches the
- 29:44faith which once he destroyed. 24 And they glorified God in me.
- 29:51So Paul went to these churches and he wasn't even recognized
- 29:56because they only knew him by his reputation, where they had
- 30:00said this man who was a Pharisee of the Pharisees, zealous for
- 30:05the law, got radically wrecked with some Jesus jiu jitsu on the
- 30:10road to Damascus was undone, unravelled.
- 30:15And when he came back to his senses after fasting for three
- 30:19days, Paul goes straight into working for the Lord.
- 30:25And the people were astonished and amazed at these stories, and
- 30:30they glorified God for Paul's conversion.
- 30:34This murderous, blasphemous Jew became the writer of 1/3 of our
- 30:44New Testament. What an amazing God that we
- 30:47serve. And we honor and glorify God for
- 30:51reaching out and rescuing the most deplorable people on planet
- 30:55earth, which we once were. We do not need to be like the
- 31:02Pharisees who look over and say Thank you God, that I am not
- 31:07like him. We need to remember just how far
- 31:10we have come, that we were once dead in our trespasses, alone in
- 31:15our sin. We had nowhere to go, we had
- 31:17nowhere to turn. We had hit rock bottom and our
- 31:20way was not working. And finally we had to surrender.
- 31:23And God chose us, and he washed us clean, and he put his robe on
- 31:30us, He put his ring on us, and he is preparing A banquet for
- 31:36us. Friends, in the presence of our
- 31:39enemies. He's leading us beside still
- 31:42waters. And his rod and his staff, they
- 31:45comfort us. And though we go through the
- 31:48valley of death, we will not fear evil.
- 31:51Friends, we confront evil for what it is.
- 31:57We call it what it is, and here Paul is, a great model of what
- 32:04it looks like to be sold out, bondservant unto our Lord Jesus
- 32:10Christ. He counted the cost.
- 32:12He found that Jesus was worthy, and he set his sail knowing that
- 32:19imminent death was coming. He knew the things that he must
- 32:25suffer for the Lord Jesus Christ and He counted it all as joy.
- 32:31And I hope that you can as well hope that we can give up our
- 32:36lives. We can give up our comforts.
- 32:39We can give up all of our preferences, all of our desires
- 32:43and passions, all of our self seeking vanity, all of our self
- 32:50preservation that we can lay down, all of the cowardice and
- 32:54the fear of man, and we can do the work of our Lord Jesus
- 32:58Christ with a little bit of time that we have left.
- 33:07I hope that you've been blessed by this chapter.
- 33:15I know I sure have. Praying for every single one of
- 33:19you. I love you so.
- 33:25Does God Have a wonderful, amazing and blessed day in the
- 33:30Lord. This is the day that the Lord
- 33:32has made, and let us rejoice and be glad in it.
- 33:38See you back here tomorrow. God bless you.
