- 2:31Speaker 1: to keep I have a god to growing fine. But
- 2:34Speaker 1: I know that was said, Hey Charles. I was wondering

- 3:38Speaker 1: Sorry, I guess, but before we get into what we're
- 3:42Speaker 1: gonna get into today, you already know what time it is.
- 3:45Speaker 3: What time is it?
- 3:46Speaker 1: Desiraate Community high I like community high like community highlight.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:51Speaker 1: We need to make a song with it, because we
- 3:53Speaker 1: always gotta make a song because it's it just ain't
- 3:55Speaker 1: there yet. The Holy Spirit had you know, just produce
- 3:57Speaker 1: release He's gonna release it or something. But today's community Highlight.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It's special. You know what I'm saying. I always say that.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I think I say that every week. But it don't
- 4:05Speaker 1: matter because it's always specially you give what I'm saying.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Listen this person. I am really excited because she is
- 4:12Speaker 1: a new member of Just Ask that Just Ask community,
- 4:17Speaker 1: not just the community.
- 4:17Speaker 3: But the just Ask team. Okay, they listen, Smith got
- 4:22Speaker 3: a team, whole team.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I don't know how to act. Okay, the Lord said
- 4:27Speaker 1: help for real, all right. And this young lady, y'all
- 4:30Speaker 1: have seen her on this platform before.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 4:33Speaker 1: If you didn't see the episode, you gotta go back
- 4:35Speaker 1: to it because it was so good. Okay, our girl.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Jay Lob.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Little Jaylor, you already know what time it exists. It's
- 4:50Speaker 1: time to go. I hear the Lord. I just heard
- 4:51Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit just say that it's time to go. Sis,
- 4:54Speaker 1: It's time to go. Go ye there for and and
- 4:57Speaker 1: just be what God already called you to be. Is
- 4:59Speaker 1: no no more time but to me, it is no
- 5:01Speaker 1: more time to second guess. It's time to give up
- 5:04Speaker 1: and go. You are so powerful, you are so annointed,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you are so brilliant. God is really like I'm really
- 5:10Speaker 1: seeing like almost like I'm not scientific scientific, but it's
- 5:15Speaker 1: almost like the why is the word neurons?
- 5:18Speaker 3: Because what is a neurun What is a nerd? Y'all
- 5:21Speaker 3: know what a neuralun is?
- 5:23Speaker 7: I don't know's.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It's almost like someone what to do with about it.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I just see it's almost like God has given you
- 5:30Speaker 1: special neurons. We're gonna look that up. I'm just gonna
- 5:33Speaker 1: trust Holy.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Spirit on what that is.
- 5:35Speaker 1: But it's almost like a specification of like it is.
- 5:38Speaker 3: It's only belongs to you.
- 5:40Speaker 1: You the only one that got the juice, and if
- 5:41Speaker 1: you don't do it, nobody else will. He has made
- 5:44Speaker 1: you for a time such as this, and so good girl,
- 5:48Speaker 1: your DNA is.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Needed for now.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, your DNA is needed for now. So
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'm super excited for you. I'm super excited for what
- 5:55Speaker 1: God is doing for you. For He has to plan
- 5:57Speaker 1: for you, not your plan, but his plan. And it's
- 6:00Speaker 1: I'll prevail in the name of Jesus. So y'all give
- 6:01Speaker 1: it up for my girl.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Give it up for my girl. Question.
- 6:08Speaker 1: It's a specialized cell that formed the foundation of the
- 6:12Speaker 1: nervous system. They are responsible for receiving, processing, and transmitting
- 6:18Speaker 1: electrical and chemical signals throughout the body. And that's a
- 6:21Speaker 1: new roon jalo, that's a new run Amen. If you
- 6:24Speaker 1: want someone on their word, just call me. Just just
- 6:28Speaker 1: diwn my number. Okay, y'all, I think today is special
- 6:31Speaker 1: and I'm kind of excited. I'm kind of excited because
- 6:34Speaker 1: I got questions, I got, I got questions and curiosities.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Okay, y'all just saw through desert rays of showing. I
- 6:43Speaker 3: guess before I introduced them.
- 6:49Speaker 1: But I'm not gonna be long with it because I
- 6:50Speaker 1: really feel like it's three of us, and y'all know
- 6:52Speaker 1: we normally do one on one, but they stretched me today.
- 6:54Speaker 3: They stretched me that I told them. I was like,
- 6:56Speaker 3: I don't know how it's gonna work, but it's gonna work,
- 6:57Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Because the g O D is handling situation, but these
- 7:02Speaker 1: these young ladies are partnering in something that's I think
- 7:05Speaker 1: that's just so phenomenal.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Right, one of my, one of my, one of these
- 7:08Speaker 3: young ladies, we go.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Back like fo flex Okay, and I'm really excited to
- 7:11Speaker 1: have her on the show because she's doing some phenomenal
- 7:14Speaker 1: things and I'm looking forward to getting to know the
- 7:16Speaker 1: other young ladies. So I'm just gonna go ahead and
- 7:17Speaker 1: say their names and we're gonna get right into it.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I got my girl to my immediate love.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Miss Shatara Tie Talks Club, and right next to her,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I have the beautiful, the beautiful actually Monie. Y'all, they
- 7:38Speaker 1: are doing something phenomenal things and we're gonna get right
- 7:41Speaker 1: into it because I feel like they're gonna ask answer a.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Lot of questions that I have. But I feel like
- 7:45Speaker 3: the audience has too.
- 7:46Speaker 1: How y'all doing Shatara in the middle, Ashley on the end, Okay,
- 7:51Speaker 1: we got to do you do.
- 7:52Speaker 3: This my first time doing I don't know.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I don't know how I feel about it. I feel
- 7:55Speaker 1: like I feel like dudes, both flex baby both. You
- 8:05Speaker 1: have evolved, Okay you haven't. No, I gotta go ahead
- 8:10Speaker 1: and get off my chest. I'm gonna say it with
- 8:12Speaker 1: my chicks. Okay, receive it. You have evolved, You've been
- 8:17Speaker 1: I knew you when you were teaching them baby kids.
- 8:20Speaker 3: I'm just pa.
- 8:22Speaker 1: And so to see you in full entrepreneurship doing what
- 8:25Speaker 1: God has really called you do it is wonderful. How
- 8:30Speaker 1: are you? How how has the entrepreneurship been? Like, let's
- 8:34Speaker 1: let me before we get into that, tell the people
- 8:36Speaker 1: who you are. Let's just let's get to where you're from,
- 8:38Speaker 1: what you're doing now, and then we'll get into the questions.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Then I'm gonna ask to go all right, So, like
- 8:43Speaker 3: Jes saying, I'm shatar.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Disclaimer, I'm not full time entrepreneur because I do work,
- 8:48Speaker 1: but I work remote, Okay, So entrepreneurship takes on a
- 8:52Speaker 1: huge chunk of what I do. So to put it
- 8:56Speaker 1: in a nutshell or maybe not, I am the owner
- 9:00Speaker 1: of a for profit Tie Rights.
- 9:02Speaker 3: TI Rights is a all things writing company.
- 9:06Speaker 1: We publish books, we do resumes, we do bios, we
- 9:10Speaker 1: do all things writing, like I said, and then I
- 9:14Speaker 1: also have my passion. My love has always been Tie Talks.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Ty Talks is my nonprofit that's all about empowering women.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I love everything about women and I want to see
- 9:24Speaker 1: women grow and flourish and be who God calls them
- 9:27Speaker 1: to be. And that's what TI Talks does. We bring
- 9:30Speaker 1: women together through workshops, through forums, through fellowship opportunities, through
- 9:35Speaker 1: networking opportunities, and give them that chance to come together,
- 9:39Speaker 1: network with other women, learn grow and become who they
- 9:43Speaker 1: desire to be without anything hindering them.
- 9:46Speaker 3: So that's pretty much who I am.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I was a classroom teacher for ten years separated from
- 9:50Speaker 1: that in twenty twenty two, and by trade, I'm now
- 9:54Speaker 1: a grant evaluator in school systems, so I go in
- 9:57Speaker 1: and evaluate grants that school systems get.
- 10:00Speaker 3: So that's what I do. Awesome, awesome, thank you for
- 10:04Speaker 3: sharing that.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Now, Ashley, this is our first time meaning SIS and
- 10:07Speaker 1: you are gorgeous playing it.
- 10:08Speaker 3: I love, but I love the partner, y'all love seeing
- 10:11Speaker 3: you work with SYS.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Tell us a little about yourself because I know you
- 10:13Speaker 1: have your own business like consulting you. It's almost like
- 10:16Speaker 1: you're dealing with the total woman is as well, but
- 10:19Speaker 1: just through some different avenues. Can you tell us a
- 10:22Speaker 1: little bit about yourself?
- 10:23Speaker 7: Definitely?
- 10:23Speaker 8: So of course I'm Ashley Monique and I have two
- 10:26Speaker 8: facets about me like faint and let me just say this,
- 10:35Speaker 8: and the reason why our policy is because the Lord
- 10:37Speaker 8: was definitely speaking to me. I'm that way because of him.
- 10:41Speaker 8: Everything that I do right now I had no plans
- 10:43Speaker 8: for come on, and I didn't have any desire for either.
- 10:49Speaker 8: But every time I speak about anything that I do,
- 10:54Speaker 8: I have to give the glory to the Lord because
- 10:58Speaker 8: if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't even be in
- 11:01Speaker 8: this place. I'd be a special agent with the FBI
- 11:03Speaker 8: right now, because that's exactly what I was working towards
- 11:06Speaker 8: and the Lloyd had to shut me down at the
- 11:07Speaker 8: end of my process. But just to kind of give
- 11:10Speaker 8: you an overview of me all together, I am a
- 11:15Speaker 8: community activist, I'm a professor, I'm a coach, I'm an entrepreneur,
- 11:19Speaker 8: and the list goes on my pride and enjoy. Like
- 11:22Speaker 8: Shator says, it's change and Change is my non profit
- 11:26Speaker 8: organization that I started in twenty eighteen. And like I said,
- 11:31Speaker 8: I never had passions on starting a non profit organization.
- 11:34Speaker 8: When my special agent opportunity got shut.
- 11:38Speaker 7: Down, yeah, change came about.
- 11:41Speaker 8: And I literally was in my conference room yesterday just
- 11:44Speaker 8: walking around and I was like, my goodness, if it
- 11:48Speaker 8: went for you shut down that opportunity, Lord like this,
- 11:52Speaker 8: none of this stuff would be And at the time
- 11:56Speaker 8: I didn't see like I thought it was just detrimental.
- 11:59Speaker 7: Like I remember when I got to my last step.
- 12:02Speaker 8: And I don't really know if you all know about
- 12:04Speaker 8: how the process works for the NBI, but you had
- 12:06Speaker 8: to go through a series of tasks.
- 12:08Speaker 3: I can't imagine because it's the FBI.
- 12:11Speaker 8: And right when I got to the er last step
- 12:13Speaker 8: to go to Quantico, which is the school before you
- 12:16Speaker 8: go out into the field.
- 12:18Speaker 7: I failed something.
- 12:20Speaker 8: And with the FBI, once you feel that one thing,
- 12:23Speaker 8: you can never go back.
- 12:25Speaker 7: So I would have to go in if.
- 12:28Speaker 8: I wanted to go in today, I couldn't go in,
- 12:29Speaker 8: and as an agent, I would have to go in
- 12:31Speaker 8: as an analyst, and I.
- 12:33Speaker 7: Don't do second best period.
- 12:35Speaker 8: But I was literally just walking around the conference room
- 12:38Speaker 8: yesterday and I was like something that I thought was
- 12:40Speaker 8: so detrimental at the time, Like I remember getting the
- 12:43Speaker 8: getting in my car and screaming, like I was crying.
- 12:46Speaker 7: And I'm like, Lord, I've never failed anything.
- 12:49Speaker 8: But at the time I thought it was feeling, but
- 12:52Speaker 8: it was actually a process that the Lord had to
- 12:54Speaker 8: take me through to get me to the next step.
- 12:57Speaker 8: So after that, I birth Changed Change is a non
- 13:00Speaker 8: profit organization focusing on helping underprivileged families through community mobilization,
- 13:05Speaker 8: community based education, mentoring, and resources. So through this non
- 13:09Speaker 8: profit organization, we have a plethora of services that we
- 13:13Speaker 8: offer to the entire family, from senior aerobics classes to
- 13:18Speaker 8: barbershop fifty five for unhaused seniors over that age, they
- 13:22Speaker 8: can get free cuts. We have a food pantry of
- 13:24Speaker 8: clothing Clause, and we mentor and tutoring, and we partner
- 13:28Speaker 8: with TIE Talks on a lot of our education initiatives
- 13:31Speaker 8: as well as you'a being on a mission. So with
- 13:35Speaker 8: me feeling and that opportunity, this opened the door for
- 13:39Speaker 8: me not to only help community members and these, but
- 13:42Speaker 8: even students, Like we have students that we intern and
- 13:46Speaker 8: we mentor throughout the process. So when the Lord allows
- 13:50Speaker 8: you to get to a place and you feel like
- 13:51Speaker 8: you're halted for a reason.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Yeah, come on, now, you ain't gonna say for a reason.
- 13:57Speaker 7: So that's changed.
- 13:58Speaker 8: And then I also have my four profit which is
- 14:00Speaker 8: Ashley Monique and that's my book ventures. I do coaching,
- 14:05Speaker 8: profit startup and so forth. But everything I do is
- 14:08Speaker 8: in a help and form in some way, whether it's
- 14:11Speaker 8: me teaching those students, or me helping community members, or
- 14:15Speaker 8: me helping businesses, entrepreneurs up and coming entrepreneurs that want
- 14:19Speaker 8: to start a nonprofit organization.
- 14:20Speaker 7: I have vendor fears where.
- 14:23Speaker 8: I allow smaller businesses to market their products and services
- 14:28Speaker 8: like in their local models and stuff, because everybody isn't
- 14:30Speaker 8: fortunate enough to have a up breaking mortar, right, So
- 14:33Speaker 8: I do try, like I said, in every aspect of
- 14:37Speaker 8: my businesses to help.
- 14:39Speaker 1: That's awesome. That that just feeled me up. Don't she
- 14:44Speaker 1: on it and don't play.
- 14:45Speaker 3: With no but no, that's great.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And I heard you say that you utilize TI talks
- 14:56Speaker 1: for services.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Is that how y'all got started? Partnership? Like, how did
- 15:01Speaker 3: we meet?
- 15:01Speaker 1: It's actually not so we had known each other a
- 15:04Speaker 1: number of years when both of our books came out
- 15:06Speaker 1: in the same year. I released my book in twenty nineteen,
- 15:09Speaker 1: actually released our book in twenty nineteen.
- 15:11Speaker 3: So after that, you know, we would talk in passing.
- 15:15Speaker 3: We kind of shit. We knew we shared the same passion.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Social media showed us that we both were interested in
- 15:20Speaker 1: helping people nonprofit work. We both were authors. It was
- 15:23Speaker 1: kind of like we were going down the same path.
- 15:26Speaker 1: And so we were talking one day and Astley were like, Oh,
- 15:29Speaker 1: how would you like to have a book signing together?
- 15:32Speaker 1: Like us come together, have a book sign and invite
- 15:35Speaker 1: the public out, schedule a space to have it, which
- 15:38Speaker 1: ended up being the library and Montgomery and we did it.
- 15:42Speaker 1: We did the book signing and we had to think
- 15:43Speaker 1: of a name to kind of put the flyer out there,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and so we were like, let's call it Better Together,
- 15:48Speaker 1: because we really are better together. We can if we
- 15:51Speaker 1: can come together and work together as women in a
- 15:55Speaker 1: coming space on coming ground, we can get a lot
- 15:58Speaker 1: done and say this and I love to say it
- 16:01Speaker 1: when people ask us about our partnership and how we
- 16:03Speaker 1: work together and how we've done it for so many years.
- 16:06Speaker 3: One thing for sure.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Is we respect who each other, who we are as individuals. Yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 1: she doesn't try, like I said earlier, she's a morning person.
- 16:13Speaker 7: She's an early riser.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I am not.
- 16:15Speaker 1: She does not force me to try to be one.
- 16:17Speaker 1: She'll text me in the early in the morning and say, hey,
- 16:20Speaker 1: I know you're not up yet, just respond when you
- 16:21Speaker 1: get up. That's respecting that boundary in that space that
- 16:26Speaker 1: I'm in, and not trying to say, girl, you need
- 16:28Speaker 1: to start getting up earlier because you know the sun
- 16:30Speaker 1: rise at this time and everybody want to go. She
- 16:32Speaker 1: doesn't do that, and I don't try to change her either,
- 16:35Speaker 1: So it works. But I said all that to say
- 16:38Speaker 1: we started the Better Together signing then, and then we
- 16:42Speaker 1: kept talking about it, and then she was like, well,
- 16:44Speaker 1: what if we helped other authors who are not so
- 16:47Speaker 1: comfortable with having book signings. There's so many authors and
- 16:50Speaker 1: I know they published their books and then I'm like, hey,
- 16:53Speaker 1: how you doing. Haven't seen the book in a while,
- 16:55Speaker 1: and they kind of just put it to the side.
- 16:57Speaker 1: They don't have a signing, they don't do anything. And
- 17:00Speaker 1: so we started the book tour where we reached out
- 17:03Speaker 1: to authors who had published books and maybe not had
- 17:05Speaker 1: a sign and yet, and we went to their cities
- 17:08Speaker 1: and set up the signing absolutely free of charge and
- 17:10Speaker 1: did that with them. And so it was just a
- 17:12Speaker 1: conversation and we started reaching out, we started booking spaces
- 17:16Speaker 1: with their assistance, and it.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Just took off.
- 17:19Speaker 1: So do y'all normally like y'all set up in the
- 17:22Speaker 1: libraries or how are you guys?
- 17:24Speaker 3: Funny? Because it is this a non profit too? Because
- 17:26Speaker 3: y'all a nonprofit? Y'all? You got your number, and I mean,
- 17:29Speaker 3: the non profit is here and y'all are doing very
- 17:31Speaker 3: well at it.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Is this considered a non profit or for propert let's
- 17:34Speaker 1: let's or isn't.
- 17:35Speaker 7: It's just initiative.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Okay, it's initiative.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Okay, teach me because okay, curious because I'm curing and
- 17:46Speaker 1: let's just be real with this, because sometimes we feel
- 17:49Speaker 1: like we always got to put a non profit dis
- 17:51Speaker 1: or for profit dis or whatever, and it just can't be.
- 17:54Speaker 3: I just want to help somebody out. We ain't got
- 17:55Speaker 3: to do We gotta be doing this together.
- 17:57Speaker 1: We marketed it, but this is what it is, and
- 18:00Speaker 1: this I mean, we have to do anything. So I'm
- 18:02Speaker 1: curious because everybody want to non profit, but it's apparently
- 18:07Speaker 1: my knowledge of it. It's a lot that goes into
- 18:10Speaker 1: none profits. Can y'all explain what I will say this
- 18:16Speaker 1: you have if you're gonna go with nothing but to
- 18:18Speaker 1: answer your question about better together, let me clear that up.
- 18:21Speaker 3: We look for.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Spaces that are free to have these signs, so we
- 18:24Speaker 1: go to a coffee house, we negotiate to see if
- 18:27Speaker 1: we can get it for free or for a small fee,
- 18:29Speaker 1: or libraries and places like that. But it is an
- 18:32Speaker 1: initiative and kind of a spin off of our for
- 18:34Speaker 1: profits because if somebody buys books, we do make money, Okay,
- 18:37Speaker 1: So we can't necessarily say it's none a profit because
- 18:39Speaker 1: we are there to sell books, right, But I will
- 18:42Speaker 1: say this, my little men, a nonprofit, make sure you
- 18:46Speaker 1: love whatever it is you're delivering for free, because when
- 18:49Speaker 1: you're reading those reviews and those surveys and people saying
- 18:53Speaker 1: it should have been like this, it could have been
- 18:55Speaker 1: better with this, and you know you did it for free,
- 18:57Speaker 1: you have to love it to do it again.
- 19:00Speaker 8: Even with our books, because we were read I hate
- 19:03Speaker 8: to even say this.
- 19:04Speaker 7: But it made me so mad.
- 19:05Speaker 8: And the Lord has been talking to me about being
- 19:07Speaker 8: silent in this season. So we were set up at
- 19:11Speaker 8: a book firstival and I'm not gonna say where, and
- 19:14Speaker 8: of course you know the people that come you have
- 19:16Speaker 8: to talk to him and wout your book. I don't
- 19:17Speaker 8: want to hear that. I don't want nothing to do
- 19:19Speaker 8: with what you got going on. And I write devotionals.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Yeah, So that was like, yeah, actually, I ain't mad,
- 19:32Speaker 1: she said, I write devotions you don't want.
- 19:33Speaker 3: You don't want Jesus No.
- 19:35Speaker 1: But the thing is, we already know that we don't
- 19:38Speaker 1: fight against pleash and blood.
- 19:40Speaker 3: So it's coming. I know what y'all.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Okay, So I was praying about, like I said, Holy
- 19:46Speaker 1: Spirit led leave this conversation, and the thing that keeps
- 19:50Speaker 1: coming up, the scripture that keeps coming up, is that
- 19:51Speaker 1: we perish for the lack of knowledge, right and I
- 19:53Speaker 1: know that both. Now that I know that both of
- 19:56Speaker 1: you guys are committed to to people expounding upon their
- 20:00Speaker 1: knowledge and not just only having the knowledge, but acting
- 20:03Speaker 1: upon the knowledge that they have.
- 20:05Speaker 3: The enemy gonna come against that super hard. Like I
- 20:09Speaker 3: ain't gonna never.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Forget when I came to volunteer out of volunteer for
- 20:12Speaker 1: tie talks now volunteer work when the college fan the
- 20:17Speaker 1: first one.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Okay, yeah I did that. I forgot what I was doing.
- 20:21Speaker 3: But no, she I'm.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Really seeing you and uh out in the streets and
- 20:27Speaker 1: just being connecting to things with literacy and a lot
- 20:30Speaker 1: of us we don't realize how much many people that
- 20:33Speaker 1: really are not up to part.
- 20:37Speaker 3: And being and being literate. Is that a good way
- 20:40Speaker 3: to say that?
- 20:41Speaker 1: Like in the reading comprehension and writing skills and personal
- 20:45Speaker 1: development and character development, and it sounds like y'all coming together,
- 20:49Speaker 1: nothing is left undone, and I'm I'm here for But
- 20:53Speaker 1: it's one thing that I want to I wanna get
- 20:57Speaker 1: into because she brought up how she got to her
- 21:00Speaker 1: space of from the fbond stuff like that, how did
- 21:03Speaker 1: you get into this space where you're so adamant about
- 21:07Speaker 1: the words that we use and the writing and getting
- 21:10Speaker 1: people to becoming an author, because you do that as well, right, right,
- 21:14Speaker 1: So I think back when we met, just I don't
- 21:18Speaker 1: think I had a book out and nothing.
- 21:19Speaker 3: I think you just gathering people. Yeah I was.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I was gathering people though, and that's something I've always
- 21:25Speaker 1: done and still doing of course, through tour talks and
- 21:28Speaker 1: all of that. So when I wrote the book though,
- 21:32Speaker 1: like years ago, and of course I was an English teacher,
- 21:35Speaker 1: so of course I liked to write and read. And
- 21:39Speaker 1: after the book came out, a lot of people would
- 21:42Speaker 1: just be down my door, how did you get this
- 21:44Speaker 1: book published? I have a book in me. I want
- 21:46Speaker 1: to write a book. I have no idea what to do,
- 21:47Speaker 1: you know, just question questions after question, and I'm like, okay,
- 21:51Speaker 1: I can help you. And I actually enjoyed the process.
- 21:54Speaker 1: So it was nothing for me to take on the
- 21:56Speaker 1: task of helping somebody else do it.
- 21:57Speaker 3: But I had to figure out, like, wait, it's a business.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I had no intentions on being a business owner ever.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I was gonna work. I was gonna be a teacher
- 22:05Speaker 1: of principal, run for superintendent, retire, run for school board.
- 22:09Speaker 3: That was my life.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Now somewhere maybe become a dean at a college, you know, education.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I was gonna do that, and so all of a sudden,
- 22:17Speaker 1: this business comes out of it, and I'm like, well,
- 22:19Speaker 1: I think I got to legalize it, you know.
- 22:21Speaker 3: So I legalize the business and that's what I'm doing.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And then I go into twenty nineteen and I realized
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm not happy teaching anymore.
- 22:29Speaker 3: And I had this conversation, Yeah, we did, and I
- 22:32Speaker 3: was like, I'm just not happy.
- 22:34Speaker 7: I'm not.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And then I'm like, well, let me finish this, ad
- 22:36Speaker 1: me and license, cause maybe I could just get a
- 22:38Speaker 1: new job, find me a principal job, you know.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Check it up a little bit. Did that. Still it
- 22:43Speaker 3: wasn't working.
- 22:44Speaker 1: And so I heard the Lord clearly say one day,
- 22:46Speaker 1: because my old principal, he would come in my room
- 22:49Speaker 1: every day and say something crazy or something he was
- 22:52Speaker 1: going to do the next year.
- 22:54Speaker 3: That was something that I did not want to be
- 22:55Speaker 3: a part of at all. But he kept coming every
- 22:58Speaker 3: day telling me.
- 22:59Speaker 1: So it's the Lord was like, he's telling you what
- 23:02Speaker 1: he's gonna do, So what are you gonna do? And
- 23:05Speaker 1: you need to get serious about leaving because you say
- 23:07Speaker 1: you're ready to go, but you're not serious. Because you
- 23:08Speaker 1: haven't looked or applied for anything. And every time after that,
- 23:12Speaker 1: every time he would come in my room, I'll be like, oh, okay, yeah,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I think that's a great idea.
- 23:16Speaker 3: For next year. Indeed dot com like every time you
- 23:20Speaker 3: would leave out indeed.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Dot cane us a job, state department and education like
- 23:25Speaker 1: a And so finally I got an interview. I didn't
- 23:30Speaker 1: even know hardly anything. I didn't I knew what grants were,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I knew what evaluation meant, but I wasn't sure if
- 23:36Speaker 1: I qualified for this job that I was interviewing for.
- 23:39Speaker 1: And they were very comfortable on the interview, and I
- 23:42Speaker 1: got comfortable, and so at the end I didn't know
- 23:44Speaker 1: if I had gotten a job. I knew it was remote,
- 23:46Speaker 1: and I knew it would give me the leniency I
- 23:48Speaker 1: needed in my life at the time.
- 23:50Speaker 3: You said something.
- 23:51Speaker 1: And so the next day I got off of the job,
- 23:54Speaker 1: scared to death because you're leaving a sure thing.
- 23:58Speaker 7: This is a I'm a teacher.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Sure I gotta retirement with your mama.
- 24:04Speaker 7: You already because it's.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Let me tell you about your mama.
- 24:08Speaker 1: She say what she want to say, what you want
- 24:10Speaker 1: to say, how you want to say is she is
- 24:11Speaker 1: a comedian.
- 24:13Speaker 3: So I went to my mama. I said, Mama, I'm
- 24:15Speaker 3: not happy. She was like, what do you mean, I'm
- 24:19Speaker 3: not happy at my job?
- 24:20Speaker 7: What are you gonna do?
- 24:21Speaker 3: What you mean you got a good job? What do
- 24:23Speaker 3: you mean?
- 24:23Speaker 1: So she really flipped out. So I finally got the job.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I was scared to accept.
- 24:28Speaker 3: It though, because I mean, again, you're leaving a sure thing.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Yeah, And so I literally, like the lady called me
- 24:35Speaker 1: offering with me the job. She emailed offered me the job.
- 24:37Speaker 1: I accepted it, but I didn't. I told my old
- 24:40Speaker 1: principle that I was leaving, but I did not give
- 24:42Speaker 1: him my letter because I hadn't got their official offer
- 24:45Speaker 1: letter yet.
- 24:46Speaker 3: So I called the lady back. I was like, who's
- 24:48Speaker 3: sending the office.
- 24:49Speaker 1: She's like, oh, he's gonna send it today. It's fine,
- 24:51Speaker 1: go ahead and turn on your two week I was like,
- 24:54Speaker 1: not doing it. And then my old principal kept coming
- 24:56Speaker 1: in and say, hey, we need your letter. We can't
- 24:58Speaker 1: post your job until we get your letter. So I'm
- 25:00Speaker 1: just like, so I go ahead and write the level
- 25:04Speaker 1: and I give it to him. Literally the moment I
- 25:06Speaker 1: put in his hand, the email came through their I
- 25:10Speaker 1: had to release the receipt. Literally, listen, girl, and I've
- 25:15Speaker 1: been job. I feel a little does a right, I'm
- 25:19Speaker 1: going ahead and say I feel a little.
- 25:23Speaker 3: She is pulled.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I feel like she's that ancient oil to list going
- 25:29Speaker 1: to the.
- 25:29Speaker 3: King like a whole.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Actually, this this question is coming up specifically for you,
- 25:39Speaker 1: and uh oh, I feel I feel a shundle on this.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Oh God, just just I'm gonna try to hold the table.
- 25:47Speaker 1: So there's something with both of you guys being an author, right,
- 25:50Speaker 1: And I'm just gonna be transparent this high operation, just
- 25:53Speaker 1: as is that I've been called multiple times. I tell you,
- 25:57Speaker 1: I get repeated words about becoming an author or in
- 26:00Speaker 1: the books to write, and we have talked about it, and.
- 26:03Speaker 3: I've written and stopped and written.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I got so I got probably at least five to
- 26:07Speaker 1: six books I've started and stopped.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Honest to God, y'all can talk about me you want you,
- 26:12Speaker 3: but you got it too.
- 26:16Speaker 1: What do you think? And we can talk from a
- 26:19Speaker 1: spiritual realm, a practical around. I'm gonna let the Lord
- 26:21Speaker 1: let you use it. What hinders people from becoming an author?
- 26:26Speaker 1: On that like just specifically an author, because I just
- 26:29Speaker 1: it's so it seems for me personally, it seems so
- 26:34Speaker 1: I don't know if it's the responsibility. I don't know
- 26:36Speaker 1: if it's the process. I'm not sure what part it is.
- 26:40Speaker 1: So what do you find people get stuck in but
- 26:42Speaker 1: from understanding that they want to write a book or
- 26:45Speaker 1: push out their story to actually completing the book.
- 26:50Speaker 8: My opinion is fear, lack of knowledge, and embarrassment. And
- 26:55Speaker 8: the reason why I say those three things, it's because
- 26:59Speaker 8: a lot of times when you have people, let me
- 27:03Speaker 8: speak from my personal experience, a lot of times when
- 27:06Speaker 8: I've known people to come to me and say they
- 27:07Speaker 8: want to write a book, it's something that's connected to
- 27:10Speaker 8: their life, right, And a lot of times the Lord
- 27:13Speaker 8: will allow you to go through things so that you
- 27:15Speaker 8: can share that so you can help somebody else grow.
- 27:17Speaker 8: Like I tell people that all the time, but sometimes
- 27:21Speaker 8: we're a little too embarrassed to tell our story. Also,
- 27:25Speaker 8: a lack of knowledge is because a lot of times
- 27:27Speaker 8: we want to do something and don't know where to start,
- 27:29Speaker 8: so we'll just put it to the side. But I'm
- 27:31Speaker 8: a firm believer in if God give you that vision,
- 27:35Speaker 8: you need to do something with it, because you don't
- 27:37Speaker 8: just have that for nothing, and then fear because you think,
- 27:41Speaker 8: who really gonna buy something that I wrote?
- 27:44Speaker 7: Who's really going to want to listen to me?
- 27:46Speaker 8: Who's really going to want to take the knowledge that
- 27:49Speaker 8: I have and use it? Because I'm nobody. So that's
- 27:53Speaker 8: why I said those three things. But if you have
- 27:58Speaker 8: a story, like I tell anybody, if you have a story,
- 28:00Speaker 8: please tell it because I don't care if you.
- 28:02Speaker 7: On the ground one, even though you might grab a lot.
- 28:05Speaker 8: More, but if you're able to grab and want a
- 28:07Speaker 8: lot of Lord to use you in a positive way,
- 28:09Speaker 8: because obviously it's something that you're supposed to be doing.
- 28:13Speaker 8: I'm a big person on purpose. I'm not trying to
- 28:16Speaker 8: do nothing that's not within my purpose. I need to
- 28:18Speaker 8: find I need to feel fulfilled every time I get
- 28:21Speaker 8: ready to do something. And I'm just in a place
- 28:26Speaker 8: where I'm going to push that as much as I can.
- 28:30Speaker 8: Because when the Lord put me in a place that
- 28:32Speaker 8: I'm in and I know I heard God and everything
- 28:36Speaker 8: he told me happened.
- 28:37Speaker 7: How it was supposed to happen, listen, ain't know you
- 28:40Speaker 7: can tell me.
- 28:42Speaker 8: So if the Lord is telling you to do something,
- 28:44Speaker 8: and I know you know everybody does not believe in
- 28:47Speaker 8: God so or whatever your higher power is, but I
- 28:50Speaker 8: believe in God. So I'm gonna say, if the Lord
- 28:51Speaker 8: is telling you to do something, please move in that season,
- 28:54Speaker 8: because when you don't move in that season, it's you
- 28:57Speaker 8: will miss something. And he made that v your evident
- 29:00Speaker 8: in to me how he is moving my life.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I totally agree.
- 29:06Speaker 1: And I think also what keeps people back is the
- 29:09Speaker 1: knowledge and the understanding of the process and not being
- 29:12Speaker 1: able to see themselves in that realm, like they can
- 29:15Speaker 1: do this thing or that thing, but when it comes
- 29:18Speaker 1: to writing a book, there's so much concerned about my
- 29:21Speaker 1: grammar or am I telling this to giography. It's so
- 29:28Speaker 1: many little technical things. And then you go into books
- 29:30Speaker 1: a million and you see TD Jason, Heather Lenz and
- 29:33Speaker 1: Joyce Maya and you know all of the great you know,
- 29:36Speaker 1: Priscilla Shyer, and you're like, there's no way I can
- 29:38Speaker 1: write a book as good as these people.
- 29:40Speaker 2: No.
- 29:40Speaker 1: The thing one of my clients said this to me,
- 29:43Speaker 1: and it stuck with me. She said, we go in there,
- 29:45Speaker 1: we buy those people books without even thinking about it.
- 29:47Speaker 1: We don't care how many grammatical errors or what they
- 29:49Speaker 1: got going on. But when it comes do our own.
- 29:51Speaker 1: We're scared to death to promote it. Just because they
- 29:54Speaker 1: said it and just because they spit it out, we
- 29:56Speaker 1: run and go get it. But we can't do that
- 29:58Speaker 1: for ourselves. So it's just the level of confidence. And
- 30:03Speaker 1: I mean, and Jessica, when we met, you were studying
- 30:05Speaker 1: for a test for your job, remember that, And you
- 30:08Speaker 1: then came out the way up here and got this
- 30:09Speaker 1: beautiful studio and then all of this beautiful You.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Definitely shout out to b GTV. I mean, it's just
- 30:17Speaker 3: it's it's a household name.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Now, like we're talking, I just asked out of time,
- 30:22Speaker 1: you can definitely push your book out. Yeah, sure, you
- 30:25Speaker 1: and the viewers who are also strict, but no, for real.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Like I think it's a I guess it's to your point.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Actually it's more so like I just want to make
- 30:40Speaker 1: sure I'm in purpose.
- 30:41Speaker 3: I don't want to be a part of the sad.
- 30:43Speaker 1: But you said something about that embarrassment, and I feel
- 30:46Speaker 1: like you came for my neck on it. I really do,
- 30:50Speaker 1: I really do, because one of the books is something
- 30:52Speaker 1: that I'm like, I you want me to talk about it,
- 30:55Speaker 1: but I'm not really experiencing you want me to study it,
- 30:59Speaker 1: and maybe it's for me to become like we talk
- 31:01Speaker 1: about all the time that just as is somewhere I'm
- 31:03Speaker 1: becoming like love Michelle Obama, where the book is talking
- 31:08Speaker 1: about becoming like it's a process, it's not. I'm a perfectionist, right,
- 31:13Speaker 1: and I know that about myself. And so I was curious,
- 31:17Speaker 1: is what you guys saw? So when you see that
- 31:20Speaker 1: in people and when you're talking to your clients, what's
- 31:22Speaker 1: the process of getting them to from being scared to
- 31:27Speaker 1: actually get in the book? Do y'all have like a
- 31:30Speaker 1: what they call it a framework? Well, on this book
- 31:33Speaker 1: tour for me, I experienced that quite a bit because
- 31:35Speaker 1: I'm getting clients to write their books. Okay, so I'm
- 31:38Speaker 1: in a consultation. We I'm in consultations weekly, some books,
- 31:42Speaker 1: some don't. I check up on people for a good
- 31:44Speaker 1: thirty days. That's my cutoff. I got sound like bigging
- 31:49Speaker 1: after that, Like yesterday I reached out, They ain't get
- 31:52Speaker 1: betweenty eight I might get y'all you know, but short,
- 32:02Speaker 1: I'm glad.
- 32:03Speaker 3: You know some people are like good, we all enjoyed
- 32:05Speaker 3: your consultation, But.
- 32:06Speaker 7: Are you ready to move?
- 32:07Speaker 3: What are we doing? Yeah?
- 32:08Speaker 1: So but trying to give them that confidence, it can
- 32:12Speaker 1: become a lot. If they're not ready, it can start
- 32:14Speaker 1: to pull on your mental Now, with better together, we
- 32:17Speaker 1: have experienced authors decided not to go forward with signings.
- 32:21Speaker 1: We have talked them to them on the phone. We've
- 32:23Speaker 1: had authors think about not going through that. We had
- 32:25Speaker 1: to literally coach back into the idea. And when we've
- 32:29Speaker 1: done that, like literally God showed them and showed out
- 32:32Speaker 1: for them, and we were telling them, don't back out,
- 32:35Speaker 1: don't do it, you know, So that that was a
- 32:37Speaker 1: part of it too, And like not all of them
- 32:40Speaker 1: we could convince, but we just had to just keep
- 32:43Speaker 1: rolling with the necks.
- 32:44Speaker 3: We couldn't get discouraged because they weren't ready.
- 32:47Speaker 1: So y'all are literally reaching out to how y'all finding
- 32:50Speaker 1: these people like y'all are saying, hey, we want to
- 32:53Speaker 1: help you, and it's like we're doing all the leadwork
- 32:56Speaker 1: and they're still backing out like that fear is something real.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Yes, is the first leg of the tour. We did
- 33:02Speaker 3: all the reaching out. Okay, we did.
- 33:04Speaker 1: We reached out to all of them, and like you said,
- 33:06Speaker 1: they steal backed out some of them, a few of them,
- 33:08Speaker 1: not many.
- 33:09Speaker 3: The second leg, they came to us and some of
- 33:12Speaker 3: them steal back down. So that's how we're doing it.
- 33:18Speaker 3: And then this third time we are changing up the tour.
- 33:20Speaker 1: A little bit to fit our lifestyles because we're growing
- 33:24Speaker 1: collectively and individually.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Okay, so the tour has to work for us.
- 33:28Speaker 1: But with those initiatives, we've also created a couple of
- 33:32Speaker 1: other things on the Better Together, one being the Distinguished
- 33:35Speaker 1: Authors of Alabama. We have that on display at the Birth.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Of Pleasant Library in Montgomery of the Rosa Parks branch.
- 33:43Speaker 1: There's a huge display of authors who are two time
- 33:46Speaker 1: published African American authors because that library had the first
- 33:51Speaker 1: head library in Montgomery that was African American. So they're
- 33:54Speaker 1: all African American authors and sometimes they come down and
- 33:57Speaker 1: take pictures with their display.
- 33:59Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 34:00Speaker 7: And we also have read around the River region.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Read around the River region and yes the region, yes
- 34:10Speaker 1: that is.
- 34:12Speaker 8: So we go to different elementary schools and we read
- 34:14Speaker 8: to the students and most of the time we try
- 34:16Speaker 8: to focus on whatever the mental health observance in years
- 34:20Speaker 8: or whatever the focus for their month. Like we will
- 34:22Speaker 8: be reading on Monday and it's doctor Sue's week, so
- 34:27Speaker 8: I am going to dress in a suit.
- 34:30Speaker 7: I hope Shatara does too.
- 34:32Speaker 3: And the doctor sue suit, Yes she did. You didn't
- 34:34Speaker 3: say a suit earlier. She actually did. She said you
- 34:38Speaker 3: wearing a suit, but she never said she was.
- 34:41Speaker 7: Wearing a suit. We have to come into carro.
- 34:44Speaker 3: She's fully committed. He socks. I'm gonna go to the
- 34:49Speaker 3: store that.
- 34:51Speaker 8: I'm gonna have on the whole kits I did.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Okay, so it worked. I had on something. She is
- 34:58Speaker 3: fully committed, and I love it.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. So y'all are man.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I just think what y'all doing is so amazing. Doesn't
- 35:07Speaker 1: like they you are reaching y'all talking about reaching the
- 35:10Speaker 1: whole household, like you talking about just as being a household. No,
- 35:17Speaker 1: I got a target audience, y'all, the whole. Y'all got
- 35:19Speaker 1: the family, No for real? What? No, I'm just thinking.
- 35:25Speaker 1: I'm in a mentorship program this year, and in one
- 35:29Speaker 1: of the requirements to end to graduate from the program
- 35:32Speaker 1: in December is a what they call it the capstone.
- 35:35Speaker 3: A book.
- 35:36Speaker 1: It's a book, and uh and uh the book ain't
- 35:41Speaker 1: booking right now. So I'm just you know, inter you know, introspectively,
- 35:46Speaker 1: you know, doing some self examination, and some of that
- 35:49Speaker 1: is true.
- 35:49Speaker 3: I think for me, it's like.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Lord, I don't I'm creative but writing my words because
- 35:55Speaker 1: my my voice has been you know, muffled for so long. Yeah,
- 35:58Speaker 1: growing up. It's like, Lord, I don't even know what
- 36:00Speaker 1: to say. You know what I'm saying, Like, I know
- 36:02Speaker 1: the idea in a sense, and so I'm still trying.
- 36:05Speaker 1: I'm still getting over that at home. Luckily we got
- 36:07Speaker 1: the year, but I know the year is progressing along
- 36:10Speaker 1: real quick. So this has been a really good conversation,
- 36:13Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, because I love sitting back
- 36:15Speaker 1: here and just listening, and in that I'm always introspective. Right,
- 36:20Speaker 1: So my prayer is that you know, as the listeners
- 36:22Speaker 1: are listening, it's stirring up something in them and just
- 36:26Speaker 1: really giving them a moment of encouragement to be like, dang,
- 36:29Speaker 1: like the Lord has been telling me to do X,
- 36:31Speaker 1: Y and Z whatever they it looks like. And some
- 36:34Speaker 1: of it is just a piece of They may not
- 36:37Speaker 1: have the knowledge for something, but the truth of the
- 36:39Speaker 1: matter is if you actually really search for it, you
- 36:41Speaker 1: can find the information that you need to move forward.
- 36:43Speaker 1: And a thing, right, So this has just been encouraging
- 36:46Speaker 1: for me. And I just love the camaraderie and the
- 36:49Speaker 1: partnership that you guys have formed, because you know, the
- 36:52Speaker 1: enemy to try to make you. The enemy will say
- 36:54Speaker 1: that women specifically African American women.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Don't get along, you don't do the things.
- 37:00Speaker 1: But when you have the right heart and the right
- 37:02Speaker 1: mind and you really allow God to lead it, you
- 37:05Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Man Like, when we partner with
- 37:08Speaker 1: the Lord for real, like in this earth, to bring
- 37:10Speaker 1: his will and his desire in this space, like and
- 37:13Speaker 1: he'll he don't care who he uses, But I'm just
- 37:16Speaker 1: grateful that I get to seek. I get to see
- 37:21Speaker 1: him use women, strong Black women in this space to
- 37:25Speaker 1: really literally we're talking about literacy, you know what I'm saying.
- 37:27Speaker 1: If nothing else, we're talking about literacy that for a
- 37:31Speaker 1: while has been a thing that's kind of played our communities.
- 37:34Speaker 1: And so just to see you guys really moving in
- 37:36Speaker 1: in Kingdom purpose is just really beautiful.
- 37:39Speaker 3: It's just really beautiful. It really, it really is beautiful.
- 37:43Speaker 3: It is.
- 37:43Speaker 1: And challenges will come, you know, like especially when you're
- 37:45Speaker 1: working on projects like we work on like it was,
- 37:48Speaker 1: it's a punch to the good every time some don't
- 37:50Speaker 1: go right, even with the author saying, oh, we can't
- 37:52Speaker 1: do the sign and hey, ladies, I'm sorry, I can't.
- 37:55Speaker 1: It was a punch to the good every time, Like
- 37:57Speaker 1: what because you know, of course we've made plans, we
- 37:59Speaker 1: scheduled out there, we can especially we had to travel,
- 38:02Speaker 1: like we decided to be going the whole weekend. We
- 38:04Speaker 1: booked rooms, We're doing all this stuff. We've talked to
- 38:06Speaker 1: places in book their space to have your signing. So
- 38:10Speaker 1: the main thing is just being able to bounce back.
- 38:13Speaker 1: You gotta have your bounce back on strong, Like I
- 38:15Speaker 1: can't lay in this. I can't be upset about this
- 38:19Speaker 1: for too long. I mean it's kind of yes and considered, yes,
- 38:22Speaker 1: messed up, but I gotta keep going, you know, just
- 38:25Speaker 1: being able to keep that at the forefront of your mind.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Are y'all considering, like what what do you call it?
- 38:32Speaker 1: Doing like screenings of authors? Now that because at the
- 38:37Speaker 1: end of the day, and y'all can be mad at
- 38:39Speaker 1: me for saying this, but I think that's to protect
- 38:42Speaker 1: yourself and protect your brand, like screenings. I don't know
- 38:46Speaker 1: whatever what other word I'm looking for, but that's what
- 38:48Speaker 1: the word is coming up to be like, Okay, let's
- 38:50Speaker 1: see how serious you are, Like we want you, but
- 38:53Speaker 1: how serious are you? Because y'all have really put hoard
- 38:56Speaker 1: into it, and that's the energy man. You can't you
- 38:59Speaker 1: can't get that bad and they're doing this for free,
- 39:02Speaker 1: right we have.
- 39:03Speaker 3: We've only had.
- 39:03Speaker 1: One incident where we actually put a flyer out and
- 39:06Speaker 1: the person didn't make it. It was a different type of
- 39:09Speaker 1: situation though. Yeah it was an emergency, but I think
- 39:12Speaker 1: that was only one time. But other than that, we've
- 39:15Speaker 1: been blessed to not even it's like we get into
- 39:17Speaker 1: a flyer create mode.
- 39:19Speaker 3: That's when they're like, oh, no, this is real. That's
- 39:23Speaker 3: when they started to kind of be like, oh, I'm
- 39:25Speaker 3: gonna get the headshot to you.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Then days go by, you kind of like a headshot,
- 39:29Speaker 1: would you say? That's when they really because it sounds
- 39:32Speaker 1: like to me imposter syndrome. Probably like they met it's like, oh,
- 39:37Speaker 1: this is really gonna happen.
- 39:38Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 39:38Speaker 1: I keep getting to that word responsibility because people say, oh,
- 39:42Speaker 1: I want I want a million dollars, I want a
- 39:45Speaker 1: million dollars, but don't realize what you're saying when you.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Asked for the a million dollars.
- 39:52Speaker 8: It's funny you said that because I put something on
- 39:55Speaker 8: Uh think I think it was Facebook. Like you, it
- 40:00Speaker 8: was something to the nature of like you have a
- 40:04Speaker 8: million dollar vision, but you only put in ten dollars
- 40:06Speaker 8: worth of effort, so you get what you put in.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Yeah, every time, every single time, Just like that with
- 40:14Speaker 1: the books too. You got to put forth an effort
- 40:16Speaker 1: to make it be a thing. And that's everything you touched. Like, yes,
- 40:20Speaker 1: it gets exhausting, it gets all those things. But when
- 40:23Speaker 1: you love what you're doing and you know you're touching
- 40:25Speaker 1: people and changing lives, that should motivate you. And if
- 40:30Speaker 1: it doesn't, then, like Ashley say, you got to revisit
- 40:32Speaker 1: your purpose because they may not be what you're supposed
- 40:35Speaker 1: to be doing. Okay, and I'm glad you. I'm glad
- 40:37Speaker 1: you brought that. I was gonna land the plane, but
- 40:39Speaker 1: I'm so glad you brought that up. There's two things
- 40:41Speaker 1: I wanted to bring up, and I'm not gonna forget
- 40:42Speaker 1: the other one because that got to do with you. Actually,
- 40:44Speaker 1: you said something regarding purpose earlier. So if I don't
- 40:48Speaker 1: know my purpose, how do I find it?
- 40:50Speaker 7: So my clients asked us all the time.
- 40:53Speaker 8: And let me tell you what worked for me when
- 40:55Speaker 8: I was in a stage of disarray in my life
- 40:59Speaker 8: and it was almost like I was going from left
- 41:01Speaker 8: to right, like, Lord, what am I really here for?
- 41:04Speaker 8: One of the things the Lord revealed to me, And
- 41:06Speaker 8: I'm not going to tell you about research.
- 41:08Speaker 7: I'm going to tell you what the Lord revealed to me.
- 41:11Speaker 7: He revealed to me that.
- 41:12Speaker 8: A lot of times we are more so focused on
- 41:15Speaker 8: our weaknesses. And when somebody asks you what you're strong
- 41:19Speaker 8: and what are your strengths, what are you good at?
- 41:21Speaker 8: Your talents, your skills, your gifts, you maybe can get one,
- 41:24Speaker 8: but when they ask you about those weaknesses, you can.
- 41:26Speaker 7: Rattle them down a whole pageful.
- 41:30Speaker 8: But a lot of times your purpose is tied to
- 41:33Speaker 8: the gifts that God has given you.
- 41:35Speaker 7: It's tied to your skills, it's tied to your talents.
- 41:38Speaker 8: So when you are in a place where you're trying
- 41:42Speaker 8: to figure out your purpose, see what you're good at,
- 41:45Speaker 8: see what your strengths are. That's something so simple like
- 41:48Speaker 8: sit down and actually see what your strengths are, and
- 41:51Speaker 8: where you're able to see what it is that you're
- 41:53Speaker 8: good at and hear God speak to you about your
- 41:57Speaker 8: gifts and talents. That is how I discover my purpose.
- 42:01Speaker 8: And it was something so simple that branched out. It
- 42:05Speaker 8: was like one tree with many branches. That one tree.
- 42:09Speaker 7: Is I love to help you. That was it.
- 42:13Speaker 8: That was my tree. That was the stump that grew up.
- 42:16Speaker 8: And my branches were helping students through teaching, helping community
- 42:20Speaker 8: members through my nonprofit organization, helping authors through our books, work,
- 42:24Speaker 8: helping businesses with coaching, and all of this great stuff
- 42:28Speaker 8: Like helping is what it was for me.
- 42:31Speaker 7: And I'm like when I figure out, I'm like, shoot,
- 42:33Speaker 7: why did I do that? Lord? Why even with my books,
- 42:37Speaker 7: they want to talk. I didn't want to write. I
- 42:39Speaker 7: don't even like reading.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I'm about to throw this mic at you actually, because
- 42:44Speaker 1: what I'm not gonna allow you to do is comper
- 42:46Speaker 1: my neck on my platform talking about me.
- 42:49Speaker 3: I'm sick of it. Read girl, like, okay, this is
- 42:57Speaker 3: going to be so transparent.
- 43:00Speaker 1: So growing up, right, I would struggle in mainly two areas.
- 43:09Speaker 3: One I don't even care about, like science, I don't
- 43:11Speaker 3: care about.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Did thank you Lord for whatever scientifical thing you did?
- 43:15Speaker 1: But me I never related to it? Right, even though
- 43:18Speaker 1: I'm kind of relating to it right now. But reading, reading, comprehension,
- 43:23Speaker 1: and speaking those two areas have always been a struggle
- 43:28Speaker 1: for me since not adolescents, but since elementary school, right
- 43:33Speaker 1: since childhood. And so I'm an adult. I'm going to
- 43:36Speaker 1: tell on myself, y'all. So yeah, I'm in school. I'm
- 43:39Speaker 1: on a break right now, but I'm in school right
- 43:41Speaker 1: and I'm getting my masters, and I fight on so
- 43:47Speaker 1: many levels, so this is interesting, thank you Holy Spirit.
- 43:50Speaker 1: I fight on so many levels because the way I
- 43:52Speaker 1: comprehend suff ain't the way everybody else comprehended. And my
- 43:56Speaker 1: mom had a friend and she's an author, right showing
- 44:00Speaker 1: a book or whatever, and I was telling I was like, oh,
- 44:02Speaker 1: I said, well, I don't I don't really read because
- 44:04Speaker 1: I don't really you.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Know, I'm not good at comprehension. And I accepted that.
- 44:08Speaker 1: I said it was like, oh, I don't know how
- 44:09Speaker 1: to read because I don't really really comprehend other people think.
- 44:13Speaker 1: You know, when I take a test, it's always wrong.
- 44:15Speaker 1: I don't think about it the way other folks think
- 44:17Speaker 1: about it. So she was like, well, who told you
- 44:19Speaker 1: you couldn't comprehend? And I was like you know, this
- 44:21Speaker 1: is what they told me in school. You know what
- 44:23Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, I accepted it.
- 44:24Speaker 3: I'm getting sees you know what I'm saying. That's good
- 44:27Speaker 3: for me, you know.
- 44:28Speaker 1: And she goes, well, it's not that you don't comprehend.
- 44:32Speaker 1: You think about it differently, and God has given you
- 44:34Speaker 1: a new mind. And when she said that, I was like, what,
- 44:39Speaker 1: Like I was? I had never heard that?
- 44:42Speaker 3: Right?
- 44:42Speaker 1: So I don't struggle as much with the reading comprehension
- 44:46Speaker 1: now the speaking. I've gotten better on the platform, but
- 44:51Speaker 1: speaking wise, I'm still surprised when people like, oh my gosh,
- 44:54Speaker 1: I understood what you were saying, because I'm like, my
- 44:57Speaker 1: brain don't think like everybody else. I really I didn't
- 45:00Speaker 1: really think differently, like the whole neuron situation.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I was like, I don't even know what a nerve
- 45:05Speaker 3: body is, but I don't.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Trust God, and so I think for me personally, even
- 45:09Speaker 1: people that liked me, it's like creative.
- 45:12Speaker 3: You couldn't tell me I could be a podcaster. And
- 45:14Speaker 3: when I was growing up in school, there was no
- 45:16Speaker 3: such thing.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Necessarily, there were radio holes, but that wasn't people that's
- 45:20Speaker 1: doing podcasts. Now I'm really out here being a whole full,
- 45:24Speaker 1: full time podcast, full time lose. I lose that lose
- 45:28Speaker 1: because I got a remote job too. But I am
- 45:31Speaker 1: into entertainment now. Just knowing, like you said, it starts
- 45:35Speaker 1: with the tree is like not only just knowing or realizing, Okay,
- 45:39Speaker 1: I like to help people because I like to help
- 45:40Speaker 1: people too, but realizing, like what avenue that God wants
- 45:43Speaker 1: you to be used in that I probably won't help
- 45:47Speaker 1: nobody write no book like y'all be writing a book.
- 45:49Speaker 3: I can push somebody and say hey, you need to
- 45:50Speaker 3: do this, or I keep doing that.
- 45:52Speaker 1: I can motivate you, right, I've done that, but I
- 45:54Speaker 1: haven't even motivating myself to do it.
- 45:56Speaker 3: So that's a level of embarrassment.
- 45:58Speaker 1: But like just being ab to say, Okay, God, I
- 46:01Speaker 1: know this is it, but what avenue? What mountain are
- 46:05Speaker 1: you calling me to? And I know now that I'm
- 46:07Speaker 1: called to that mounting, I'm entertainment. What that looks like
- 46:11Speaker 1: starts with the podcast. That's all I can give you
- 46:13Speaker 1: right right now, and then as.
- 46:14Speaker 3: God moves me forward.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Cool. But going back to the reading and stuff, I
- 46:18Speaker 1: think my embarrassment is that not only the life stories
- 46:23Speaker 1: but just what I've been labeled as like will people
- 46:26Speaker 1: really understand what I'm saying? Like I can't even talk right,
- 46:29Speaker 1: so like like I'm just saying, like this is the
- 46:33Speaker 1: thoughts that I have. Like, girl, you be, you be
- 46:35Speaker 1: struggling and projecting and communicating sometimes and you feel to
- 46:40Speaker 1: write a book. But remember it's the audience for your voice,
- 46:44Speaker 1: and it's the audience for your words too, So it's
- 46:47Speaker 1: your target audience.
- 46:48Speaker 3: They'll understand me.
- 46:49Speaker 8: And then when you're living in what like when you're
- 46:53Speaker 8: trying to step up and so what God called you
- 46:55Speaker 8: to do, He's gonna work all that out anyway, so
- 46:58Speaker 8: it don't even matter.
- 46:59Speaker 7: Up, I don't do it, and he.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Man, I ain't know I was gonna be motivated by
- 47:08Speaker 1: authors today. I thought I was gonna get some questions answered.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I got one more thing, and I'm gonna let this go.
- 47:16Speaker 1: So I was talking to one of your clients. You
- 47:18Speaker 1: probably already know what client I'm talking about, but I
- 47:20Speaker 1: was talking one of your clients and she said that
- 47:23Speaker 1: you told her that the y'all were talking about the
- 47:28Speaker 1: length of the book, right, And this was her trying
- 47:31Speaker 1: to help me, like get over my anxiety about this.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Gotta be a two.
- 47:37Speaker 1: You know.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Your response to her was something you can correct me.
- 47:41Speaker 1: I just want to touch on this because I need
- 47:42Speaker 1: I feel like people need to hear this too, that like,
- 47:46Speaker 1: and please correct me I'm wrong. But basically she was
- 47:48Speaker 1: saying that people's attentions fan ain't that.
- 47:51Speaker 3: Long, So the book, what do you expect the book
- 47:53Speaker 3: to be? To be like that long?
- 47:55Speaker 1: And so it kind of like relieved her from pressure
- 47:57Speaker 1: of thinking you had this, have to have this long
- 47:59Speaker 1: drawn out book versus just getting to the point, getting
- 48:01Speaker 1: to the meat and being you can still be called
- 48:03Speaker 1: the author. It doesn't matter the how long the book is.
- 48:07Speaker 1: What How did you come to that conclusion? Because I
- 48:10Speaker 1: had never I never thought of that.
- 48:12Speaker 3: I was like, oh, it don't matter, have anything now.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Now there's a few fiction people who feel like they
- 48:17Speaker 1: want to be considered writing a novel, and I think
- 48:20Speaker 1: there's some stipulations there.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Okay, but if you're writing most of my.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Clients are either in the memoir, self help, devotional remp.
- 48:28Speaker 1: If that's what you're writing, you are still an author
- 48:30Speaker 1: of that. You wrote it, and you're published, you're on Amazon,
- 48:33Speaker 1: you're on major platforms. So but people who need that,
- 48:38Speaker 1: who need what my clients are putting out need help.
- 48:42Speaker 1: They need understanding of why they're doing things they're doing
- 48:45Speaker 1: in their lives.
- 48:45Speaker 3: They need clarification, they need guidance.
- 48:48Speaker 1: And nine times out of ten people have been telling
- 48:50Speaker 1: them all their lives what they need to do, but
- 48:52Speaker 1: they haven't been listening that well, So are they gonna.
- 48:55Speaker 3: Be able to read a book that loan to help
- 48:57Speaker 3: them gain't that guided?
- 48:58Speaker 1: They like people like these popping quick social media posts,
- 49:02Speaker 1: those posts that say something.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Like all my haters? Can these be because God said,
- 49:08Speaker 3: you know they like so quick like that?
- 49:11Speaker 1: So not saying that a person writing, because if you're
- 49:14Speaker 1: really telling your story, but they need something they can
- 49:17Speaker 1: relate to and that it can permeate their hearts and
- 49:20Speaker 1: maybe it'll make the change that needs to be made
- 49:23Speaker 1: in their lives, stop them from making these same mistakes
- 49:25Speaker 1: they've been making for so long. So if that's what
- 49:28Speaker 1: I told her, which I'm pretty sure I did, that's right.
- 49:31Speaker 1: That their attention span is not that long. And if
- 49:34Speaker 1: we're going to create change in people, we can't hold
- 49:37Speaker 1: them for long. We can't give them long drawing out sermons,
- 49:40Speaker 1: we can't talk to them in ways that they can't understand.
- 49:43Speaker 1: We've got to be able to break down things so
- 49:45Speaker 1: they can understand. We live in a microwave world. It's
- 49:48Speaker 1: generated by social media and reels that are literally thirty seconds.
- 49:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't have that much time.
- 49:55Speaker 1: But at the same time, we need some shifts to
- 49:57Speaker 1: take place in a lot of people lives. No, we
- 50:00Speaker 1: gotta deliver it to them, package it away. It should
- 50:04Speaker 1: be packaged for that audience. That's so good. You got
- 50:07Speaker 1: a response to that. I'm always I feel like I'm
- 50:09Speaker 1: always held the flow to h I.
- 50:15Speaker 8: Mean, I agree with Shatar because, like I said, I
- 50:17Speaker 8: don't like the rest. I needna get that point real quick.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it is true. No, that's so good.
- 50:24Speaker 1: I've really enjoyed you guys, Like I mean, I feel
- 50:27Speaker 1: y'all got permission to be on my neck.
- 50:29Speaker 3: He's just really like, just go what that book get?
- 50:31Speaker 1: You been?
- 50:33Speaker 3: You girl? I know?
- 50:38Speaker 1: Follow from Mar Yeah, thirty one day. Don't do it
- 50:45Speaker 1: for March because March March is Yeah, don't do because
- 50:51Speaker 1: I already know what's happening in that much. But no,
- 50:54Speaker 1: but seriously, I appreciate you guys for opening opening our minds,
- 51:01Speaker 1: like to obeying God our focus this year has been
- 51:09Speaker 1: so far.
- 51:09Speaker 3: Yes, three sixty five.
- 51:10Speaker 1: This is what we're giving God, waking up up and
- 51:13Speaker 1: giving God our years right, and so I'm I'm excited
- 51:17Speaker 1: to act upon what's been said today. So one of
- 51:20Speaker 1: the traditions that we have on just as the placast,
- 51:24Speaker 1: is allowing our guests to have the final final words right.
- 51:28Speaker 1: And because we got two, we get double the trouble.
- 51:31Speaker 1: And so stra Tamas started with you and we're gonna
- 51:33Speaker 1: end up in with ancient oil. So if they didn't
- 51:38Speaker 1: hear anything that was spoken to night, what do you
- 51:41Speaker 1: want to land the plane and make sure they get
- 51:43Speaker 1: before they leave this episode?
- 51:45Speaker 3: I want you to focus.
- 51:47Speaker 1: I want you to focus on what it is that
- 51:49Speaker 1: you are signed to do, no matter what it is,
- 51:51Speaker 1: and get rid of all the naysayers. I know we
- 51:54Speaker 1: were talking about my mama earlier. I don't think she
- 51:56Speaker 1: still believe I have an actual job, and she'd have
- 52:00Speaker 1: been on work trips with me all the Chicago on
- 52:03Speaker 1: Magnificent Mind and then come back to somebody.
- 52:05Speaker 3: You sure you working so well? Like what?
- 52:09Speaker 1: So I say that to say, I don't care who
- 52:11Speaker 1: it is, get rid of it, block it out of
- 52:14Speaker 1: your mind, and focus on what it is that you're
- 52:17Speaker 1: supposed to be doing, Like, take that time to yourself
- 52:20Speaker 1: to really hone in, honey in with the Holy Spirit,
- 52:23Speaker 1: do what you gotta do in order to figure it out.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Because one thing, I see a lot of people walking
- 52:29Speaker 1: around very lackluster, very unfulfilled, very sad, very much complaining
- 52:34Speaker 1: every single day, but not making necessarily changes in order
- 52:38Speaker 1: to shift the situation.
- 52:40Speaker 3: Get focused. Your time here is limited, and I want.
- 52:45Speaker 1: To leave here exhausted from the work I've done that
- 52:48Speaker 1: everybody can talk about when I'm gone. I don't want
- 52:50Speaker 1: to leave here exhausted from foolishness that don't nobody you
- 52:52Speaker 1: know about unless they saw me arguing with somebody on
- 52:54Speaker 1: social media.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Who wants to leave you like that. Yeah, So so
- 52:58Speaker 3: just keep that.
- 52:59Speaker 1: In mind, you guys, stay focused, do what you've been
- 53:02Speaker 1: tesked to do, and hone in to figure out what
- 53:05Speaker 1: that is that's.
- 53:05Speaker 7: Good for me.
- 53:09Speaker 8: Number one is make sure you're living in purpose because
- 53:12Speaker 8: and I said this, make sure you're living in purpose,
- 53:14Speaker 8: because when you're living in purpose, you will be fulfilled.
- 53:17Speaker 8: Second thing, we're gonna bind up this spirit of fear.
- 53:19Speaker 8: We're not gonna lie that de land on us anymore,
- 53:22Speaker 8: because when you are filled with fear number one, that's
- 53:25Speaker 8: the enemy, because he wants to hold you back from
- 53:28Speaker 8: what God has called you to do. And we're not
- 53:29Speaker 8: about to let him do that any longer. We're not
- 53:32Speaker 8: about to let the devil take precedents in our life
- 53:35Speaker 8: and even on foot socials that he's sending our way
- 53:37Speaker 8: to kind of stop us from being in the in
- 53:39Speaker 8: the area that we're supposed to be in, We're gonna
- 53:41Speaker 8: bind it up to. And when I speak, baby, I
- 53:43Speaker 8: like to comfort the enemy head because I do not
- 53:46Speaker 8: play when it comes to what God has called for
- 53:48Speaker 8: me to do in his people in this earth. And
- 53:51Speaker 8: then lastly, develop on a relationship with God because I
- 53:55Speaker 8: swear when you can hear God, baby, that's like no other.
- 53:59Speaker 8: When I say when He speaks clearly to you, when
- 54:03Speaker 8: I'm talking about so clear the first time I'm telling
- 54:06Speaker 8: you it, the first time I.
- 54:08Speaker 7: Knew for a fact I heard God.
- 54:10Speaker 1: God know.
- 54:10Speaker 3: I love dogs.
- 54:12Speaker 7: You know I love Ooh, I love too.
- 54:15Speaker 3: I'm a dog bomb.
- 54:16Speaker 8: And one of my biggest fears, even though I hate
- 54:18Speaker 8: to even talk about fears, is I don't ever want
- 54:21Speaker 8: to hit one ever. So I was driving down the street,
- 54:26Speaker 8: you know, just doing whatever I was doing, and I
- 54:29Speaker 8: heard something say. This is how I knew I heard.
- 54:30Speaker 8: I heard something to say, slow down a dog and
- 54:32Speaker 8: run in front of your car, So, you know, so
- 54:37Speaker 8: I looked around, then see a dog keep going by
- 54:40Speaker 8: a minute later, I slammed on break because I almost
- 54:43Speaker 8: hit a.
- 54:43Speaker 7: Dog that looked like mine. And I was just like,
- 54:49Speaker 7: what was that?
- 54:51Speaker 8: And that kind of opened up a whole nother rim
- 54:53Speaker 8: for me of me being able to hear what the
- 54:56Speaker 8: Lord is saying. And even if you are in a
- 54:59Speaker 8: place where you can already hear God, don't take that
- 55:01Speaker 8: for granted, because I know sometimes because he was talking
- 55:03Speaker 8: to me about these last week. You don't talk to
- 55:05Speaker 8: me as often as you need to because you know
- 55:07Speaker 8: I'm gonna talk to you when you want to hear.
- 55:10Speaker 8: So even if you're already in that place, make sure
- 55:14Speaker 8: you are not.
- 55:14Speaker 7: Taking advantage of the situation.
- 55:16Speaker 3: That's good.
- 55:17Speaker 7: That's what I want to leave.
- 55:19Speaker 1: And just cause we still got you on the volunteer,
- 55:23Speaker 1: I probably do.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Do you want to see what my email bubble looks like?
- 55:26Speaker 3: They're red?
- 55:27Speaker 1: It got probably like phone numbers, You don't. It got
- 55:32Speaker 1: phone numbers on the phone. Okay, but yeah, I'll be
- 55:35Speaker 1: You know, I'm willing to volunteer. You know what I'm saying,
- 55:37Speaker 1: So make sure I got right? Yeah, let's make sure
- 55:40Speaker 1: because supposed to be missing their eggs in my email
- 55:44Speaker 1: saying man, this has been good. I'm really fueled. I

- 57:43Speaker 1: but we really need we do not empower the kingdom
- 57:49Speaker 1: by just remaining so hyper spiritual. Sometimes we need some
- 57:52Speaker 1: practical ways and really understanding how we impact kingdom activity.
- 57:57Speaker 1: And so if you didn't hear anything else today, I
- 58:00Speaker 1: need y'all understand.
- 58:01Speaker 3: Go ye therefore and write the book. Okay, write the book, y'all.
