- 2:46good evening and welcome to the Crew podcast page the Live Again broadcast where
- 2:53I am your host, Minister Alma Thomas, and we're gonna start this podcast
- 3:02as we start every week with prayer. It says in the Bible and all
- 3:08things give things. So, dear Heavenly Father and the presless, matchless name
- 3:15of your son Jesus, we thank you. We thank you for waking us
- 3:19up this morning. We thank you for us being in our right mind.
- 3:24We thank you for everything that you have done for us. We ask that
- 3:30you bind up any techful difficulties that we might have. And the precious name
- 3:36of Jesus, we pray the prayer of Jabads that you may enlarge our territory
- 3:43and keep us from evil and the name of Jesus. We prayed that to
- 3:46give us dominion of the territory that you have given us reinover, have your
- 3:53way, have your way, have your perfect well, and everything that we
- 3:57do a man and a man and a man. And and welcome again to
- 4:01the Live Again podcast. And I'm your host, Minister Alma Thomas. And
- 4:08I know a lot of you are wondering why I'm coming to you from a
- 4:15bed. Maybe you think on your six hundred pound life, but now I
- 4:21suffered a stroke two years ago. And how many people know that you can't
- 4:27put your destiny on stop or pause and tell everything is all right? That
- 4:33when God has called you for a purpose and a reason, that no manner
- 4:41what happens, what kind of situation or circumstance you find yourself in, you
- 4:46have to soar over these obstacles. You have to be like the ego.
- 4:53The ego will soar above all his circumstances in order to be victorious. So
- 5:00even though I'm in this hospital bed, I still give God glory. I
- 5:05still give God praise. And I want to excuse me. I want to
- 5:12empower my listeners to know that whatever obstacles you faith that the best excuse is
- 5:21no excuse that you still have purpose. You have to accept your life as
- 5:28it is now and give God for the things the things, thanks for the
- 5:33things that you can still accomplish. I'm still writing books, I'm still preaching
- 5:42the word of God. I'm still inspiring people to be the best today can,
- 5:47to live their best life. Ever, don't give in to what's happening
- 5:54in your life. Don't listen to the enemy telling you that your life is
- 5:59over. I know that the enemy will speak to you. You will have
- 6:02a pity party, and the enemy will tell you that your life is over.
- 6:09You might as well throw in the towel. Say I know, because
- 6:14many times doing this ordeal, I tried to throw the towel in, but
- 6:19God kept throwing the towel back and telling me don't give up, don't give
- 6:26in, and don't give out, that I have a greater blessing for you
- 6:30on the other side. Count it all joy. When you go through trials
- 6:35and tribulations where you are in the valley, count it all joy. Continue
- 6:42to look to the hill from which cometh your help. All your help comes
- 6:47from the Lord. And today we are going to be talking to Lakia Barnett
- 6:56about the tears the purpose my logue. And I became acquainted with Lapia when
- 7:05she was looking for people to tell their stories and a monologue form on her
- 7:13platform. And I had never performed a monologue before, but it was something
- 7:21I wanted to do, another way that I could share my testimony, share
- 7:27what I've been through. So we had the monologue and I had written a
- 7:34monologue as that goes like this, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy birthday.
- 7:46Baby. Oh. I remember the day so vividly. It was her
- 7:51first birthday in heaven. And what mother wouldn't want to be with their child
- 8:01on their birthday is the heavenly quiet singing Happy birthday. Are the heavenly chefs
- 8:09making you a very special birthday? Cake? Oh? I don't know,
- 8:18but I want to celebrate your first birthday so and heaven. So I went
- 8:28to the kitchen and I took a bottle of pills and I poured them into
- 8:33my hand and I said, hold on a little while, baby, Mommy's
- 8:41coming before your birthday is over. And then I heard yeah, I still
- 8:50quiet voice say if you do it, you'll never see him again. And
- 9:00I put the pills back in the bottle, and God allowed me to see
- 9:09when my family and friends would have went through if my mission had been accomplished,
- 9:20because I just took two of the pills and I went to sleep,
- 9:28and my family tried to wake me up, and they called to me and
- 9:35I didn't answer, and my little sister, she ran from the room and
- 9:41waited for my mother, because no one wants to find that picks us the
- 9:48dead on what would have been their first nephew's first birthday. And heaven,
- 9:56oh no, as they came and they called me, called me and called
- 10:01me, and finally I woke up, and they said, we thought you
- 10:05had done it. We thought you had finally went to be with your son
- 10:13and I and I told him I wanted to. I really wanted to sing
- 10:22Happy Birthday to my baby one more time. But God told me I wasn't
- 10:30ready and that I would never see him again. And that's where my tears
- 10:39turned into a purpose. So that was my first monologue that I did when
- 10:56I was recalling when I all most committed suicide. I had the pills in
- 11:03my hand and I was ready. I thought I was ready to go,
- 11:09but God wasn't ready for me yet. I hadn't completed my mission on Earth,
- 11:16yet he still had a plan and he had a purpose for my life.
- 11:24So on that day, it is when I gave myself permission to live
- 11:31again, because prior to that I was afraid to live and afraid to die.
- 11:39I was like, how can I be laughing when my son said?
- 11:46How can I be having fun when my son is said? And I had
- 11:54wanted to move to a new location because I thought that moving with take away
- 12:01to pain, but it only intensified because I was like, I can't leave
- 12:09him here or by himself sleeping in that cold, cold grave. So I
- 12:18stayed and I realized that it's okay not to be okay, that it doesn't
- 12:26matter what position or what title you hold, that you're human first, and
- 12:37you're gonna go to your human emotions. Because even Jesus's wet when his friend
- 12:43Lazarus was dead and he knew that he was gonna raise his lads, or
- 12:48his father was gonna raise Lazarus again, but still in that moment, he
- 12:54felt a human pain of losing someone. So when we say, well,
- 13:01he doesn't know, he doesn't care about what we go through. He cares
- 13:05about everything that we go through because every pain that we feel, He feels
- 13:11it too. So I'm very very excited about what God is doing in this
- 13:22season. I'm very very excited and grateful for the things that God is doing
- 13:31in my life that I refuse to give up. I refuse to give in,
- 13:39I refuse to give out that no matter what comes my way. Yeah,
- 13:46sometimes I say I wish that I was able to walk, but in
- 13:52God's own time, And we gotta wait on God. And while we're waiting,
- 13:58we have to be faithful. While we're waiting. We have to work.
- 14:03While we are waiting, we have to work. We can't concentrate and
- 14:13focus on what's wrong. We gotta think about the solution is so much bigger
- 14:20that after this, after this, after I've gone through this trial, after
- 14:26I've gone through this journey, and I see myself as as job that God
- 14:35pick me out for this journey. He knew that I was gonna hold on
- 14:43to my integrity, He knew that I was gonna continue to fight for him
- 14:50and continue to say for God, I'll live and for God I'll die.
- 14:54That you could take away any title, any position, just don't take the
- 15:00spirit of God awake from me. So I'm excited about this journey that I'm
- 15:07on. I'm excited about what God is doing in the lives of his people.
- 15:13That we all have a destiny, that we have to expect the great
- 15:18you get out of life what you expect. If you expect to have a
- 15:22bad day, you're gonna have a bad day. But if you expect to
- 15:26expect that your ladder is gonna be greater than your former, that will despise
- 15:35small beginnings. Because even this podcast is a walk of faith. You sometimes
- 15:41you think, Oh, I think people are thinking, why is that woman
- 15:46always in her bed? Who is this woman? Who is this woman?
- 15:52And I tell him that you can't stop me from living. That if you
- 16:00don't want to live again, don't hinder me, because life it's not over.
- 16:08There's stills still so much life, and me so much destiny and me.
- 16:15I thank God for all the gifts and talents that He has given me
- 16:21and that I can still use them. Many people that are in my position
- 16:26that suffering strokes as bad as I did, their cognitive skills have never came
- 16:33back. Their speech still skills had never came back. So that's something to
- 16:38give God praise for that he didn't take my cognitive skills, he didn't take
- 16:45my speech skills. That I can still do what I like best, and
- 16:51that's talk and motivate me. It reminds me of when a Joseph's brothers have
- 16:57put him in a pit, and you know, many times and the engine
- 17:03days the pit was full of water. But the pit, the pit that
- 17:07God had chosen for Joseph, had no water in it. So when his
- 17:14brothers put him into the pit, they couldn't drown him. Glory be to
- 17:18God. So times sometime you will find yourself in a pit, either a
- 17:23pit that you put yourself in, or a pit that somebody else put you
- 17:30put you in, or just a pitfall of life, and you can't give
- 17:33up when you find yourselfs And this these pits, I'm reminded of a story
- 17:41of a donkey, and you probably know this story. But there was an
- 17:45old old donkey and the farmer was taking his donkey out for a walk,
- 17:53and the donkey fell into a well, and the old farmers said, well,
- 18:02he's old anyway, we might as well. I might as well bury
- 18:06him and let him die. Uhha. And so the old farmer thought that
- 18:12he started to throw dirt into the pit, through dirt into the pit.
- 18:18And each time he threw dirt in the pit, the donkey pushed it under
- 18:27his feet and stopped on it until finally he the farmer thought he had put
- 18:37enough dirt to bury the donkey. But that old donkey, huh, he
- 18:42has something in him, huh that he put that dirt under his feet and
- 18:48he came walking out of that well. Hallelujah. So sometimes people will put
- 18:53dirt on you, but they don't know that you're seed. You're not gonna
- 18:57die, but you just gonna reproduce. Uh, and the name of Jesus.
- 19:03So I'm so excited about this phase in my life. Once again,
- 19:11I thank God for the true podcasts and my true podcast family because when there's
- 19:19limitations, I don't say that I give in to no excuses, but when
- 19:26they're limitations and things that you find yourself in to do the Crewe podcast,
- 19:36it's like a family. They encourage you, they inspire you, they empower
- 19:41you to keep moving, to keep going even if you're taking small steps.
- 19:48The famous person once said that if you can't run, then walk. You
- 20:00can't walk, Ben cruel, But just don't ever stop moving and We're gonna
- 20:11go to a brief commercial break and I'll be back after the break is over.
- 20:41Well, I guess the break is over and I'm back. Then,
- 20:48just tell you about some of my upcoming projects. I'm scheduled to appear on
- 21:00the various podcasts where I would be sharing my story. I'm finishing up my
- 21:07book Surviving a Stroke and Living through Park Avenue, where I talk about what's
- 21:18really going on in the health fille, what's really going on, what I
- 21:23elderly and I want to see, even though I'm at home and I'm no
- 21:30longer in that situation. I want to be a voice for the ones that
- 21:37can't speak for themselves. I want to bring attention to what's going on and
- 21:44the nursing homes and everybody is given a blind eye, even the Attorney General
- 21:52and the Department of Health. These places that are supposed to make sure that
- 21:59the health is safety of the elderly are being protected. But in these kind
- 22:07of places, your rights are not being protected. I know because I was
- 22:15neglected and abused by another patient and I could speak, I could talk.
- 22:25I could tell my family and friends what was happening, and they could call
- 22:30and make complaints. But you know, in the end, they wanted to
- 22:34label me a troublemaker. They wanted instead of addressing the concerns. How can
- 22:41you have a hospital full of elderly patients and you cut the water off and
- 22:48don't provide any whites and under dead of winter you have to be washed up
- 22:56with cold water, and when the water does come back on, it's brown.
- 23:00It looks like the water in Flint, Michigan. But that's charging you
- 23:06thousands and thousands of dollars a month to stay there. They're feeding you food
- 23:14that I wouldn't feed to my little doggy. And still they're allowed to go
- 23:22on. Still they're giving five stars. Still they look the other way when
- 23:27they're understaffed and underpaid and the purse. The people that suffer the most are
- 23:34the elderly. The patients are the ones who suffer through this neglect, who
- 23:42suffer through doing not being able to speak for themselves, not understanding what's really
- 23:56going on around them. So I want to be a voice. So I'm
- 24:00coming out with my book and I'm gonna be selling some stroke or one awareness
- 24:07t shirts to bring people's awareness to what's going on with stroke victims and patients.
- 24:18And sometimes and the care givers they get tired and they get weary and
- 24:25they want to give up. So we want to encourage the ones that are
- 24:30nurturing and really taking care of the patient. We want to encourage them to
- 24:37keep on because your reward is not gonna be here on earth, but your
- 24:42reward is gonna be in heaven. And if you don't die young, you
- 24:48have to get old, and you want somebody to take good care of you
- 24:53when you get old, your mother, your grandparents, whatever whoever you have
- 25:00in your life. And then this time, I just want to give a
- 25:04shout out to my kid, give my twenty one year old daughter who takes
- 25:10excellent care of her mom. And she's a student and she makes sure that
- 25:17I am well taking care of And I don't take that for granted because many
- 25:23children her age would be trying to get their life on, they would want
- 25:27to be lit. But she cares about her mother and she will be rewarded
- 25:33for the things that she does for me. There's blessings upon blessings being stored
- 25:44up in heaven for her. So I'm grateful, grateful that even in that,
- 25:52even in that that God kid for me, that you know, once
- 26:02I came home that I was able to flourish and be able to do the
- 26:07things that God has for me. That sometimes you look at your situation and
- 26:17you look at what you're going through, and sometimes you'll have a pity party.
- 26:23I know because I had many pity parties where I invited depression and anxiety
- 26:30and panic and tacks and all these things. Was invited to my party.
- 26:37But you know who wasn't there. Jesus wasn't there. He said, I'm
- 26:41not gonna come to no pity party because I have more in store for you,
- 26:47my daughter. I have more for you. Just keep holding on that
- 26:52when you feel like you're about to break, reach beyond that break and continue
- 27:00to hold on, continue to do what I called you to do. Don't
- 27:06let me come and catch you with your work undone, because at night,
- 27:11no man can work. So while you're on this journey, you have to
- 27:21follow God's gps, let him lead you and guide you, and your focus
- 27:30would be on the right things. Your focus would be on God and the
- 27:33things that you can do, the positive change that you can bring to the
- 27:41world. We have to be the change that we want to see. It's
- 27:45just like if you're making a cake, and every time you make that cake,
- 27:52it doesn't rise because you don't put the rise and agent in the cake.
- 27:56And each time you expect the cake to come out nice and fluffy,
- 28:03but each time it comes out flat as a pancake. And you continue to
- 28:10leave out that one ingredient and you continue to get the same results. But
- 28:17if you want different results, you have to change your mindset. Are changing
- 28:22your mindset will change your life once you get your mindset together, Because how
- 28:30many people know that the battle begins in your mind that if you can win
- 28:37that battle against yourself, that battle that tells you you can't do it,
- 28:44that battle that tells you you might as well give up, it's all over
- 28:48for you. If you could win that battle, then you can win the
- 28:53war. And I got said before, I thank God for the people who
- 29:03listen in, who catch the replay. Share. If you know someone who
- 29:11has a dream and they let that dream die, if they let that dream
- 29:19die, wake it up, Wake up that dream, Tell him that they
- 29:26can live again, that despite all that they've been through, they don't have
- 29:32to give up. They can live again. And whatever God has promised you
- 29:38in this season, excuse me in this season. God is gonna fulfill all
- 29:47his promises because the end is near and he's not a man that he should
- 29:53lie. So whatever he had promised you in your life, if he promised
- 29:59you that there's a book still left in you, write that book. If
- 30:03he promised you that there's a new song you're gonna sing, write that song.
- 30:11If he promised you your new dream house, then I dare you to
- 30:15start looking for furniture for that house. If he promised you a new car
- 30:21by the air fresh, just have faith and the things that you cannot see,
- 30:27you don't have to have faith, but things that you can see.
- 30:30But when your money is act getting funny, when you laying on a hospital
- 30:36bed, huh, and you know that God has promised you that you're gonna
- 30:41walk again, you gotta hold on to that faith. You gotta hold on
- 30:45to the faith the size of a mustard seed. Don't let go. God
- 30:52has something better and store for you. Thank you, Thank you for being
- 31:02with me tonight as we just share inspirational moments, moments to inspire you not
- 31:11to give up, to keep going until you get to the prize. Because
- 31:18the race isn't to the fastest one, but the race is to the one
- 31:23that the doors to the end. We remember that story about the tortoise and
- 31:29the hair. The hair was running so quick he was sure that he was
- 31:34gonna win. Matter of fact, he got so confident that he got up
- 31:40by a tree and took himself a little nap. And while he was sleeping,
- 31:45the tortoise was tipping along, tipping along. Huh, And then finally
- 31:52huh. He saw the finished line up ahead. And the tortoise woke up
- 31:56and saw that the tort that the hair woke up and saw that the tortoise
- 32:02was in front of him that he and he thought, oh, well,
- 32:06I'm fast, I'll get there to the finish line first. But the tortoise
- 32:10was slow and study, and he got to the finish line first, and
- 32:15he won. No one expected him to win. He was the underdog,
- 32:20but the underdog had victory. It's just like in the chess game. When
- 32:24you play in chess, you move, and then your opponent moves. But
- 32:30then when you make that one final move, you yelled checked me. Well,
- 32:37Jesus is in the game now and he's yelling checked me for you.
- 32:42So have a wonderful, wonderful the last night enjoy the West the rest of
- 32:50your winning Wednesday, and I will see you on the twentieth. Well,
- 32:55my guests will be the entrepreneur, the book club President Letitia Lane. So
- 33:07thank you, thank you, thank you for all sitting with me on tonight
- 33:14as I share moments of inspirations with you with the Live Again podcast where we
- 33:22have the best, best production team and all the world HTA Enterprises. So
- 33:30if you think that you have a call, that God has called you into
- 33:36the podcasts and business. We all have stories that we want to share.
- 33:39And if you want to share your story, get with Queen Angela and find
- 33:45out how you can be a host with the Crew podcast where we're really a
- 33:52family. God bless you, and good Night podcast show with your host Emma
- 34:01Thomas. For God so loved the world that it gave his only begotten son,
- 34:06that who's your ever shall believe, shall not perish. But however, let's tea
