Transcript
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to The Office, a show covering the mighty Gulf, the NFL, pop culture, drinking culture and of course.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: I show rest.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you're your host, Alphar T.A.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: In myself.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: And we're on.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: This is the off season with myself, Alphar Tiaga and Marick Brave, how are you, Marick?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: We got more of you to go after this week, right?
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: We got this one and the next week and then we're in the new and Alphar, you're Alphar, you and Simon and Chris, you're going to come in and get us ready for a miracle year from the Miami Dolphins.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: An improbable season.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it'll be the greatest 5 and 12 team you're ever going to see.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: The best 5 and 12 team of all time.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: I wrote an article today on the Finn Cider talking about what a winning season could look like for the Miami Dolphins, just what could get the team to nine wins and spice it to say that people in the comments weren't buying it.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: They were not buying it.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, if you want, let's do a segment on that.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: Although next week, I think that we should be dolphins heavy next week.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: But let's do a segment on that right now then, like what would it look like I'll go first and then you could preview I guess your piece and give a give us the link to it, you know, just tell us the link to it and I'll post it on the description, but like what would it look like or let let's start with the quarterback like Malik will it has to be essentially the same Malik will it's that you saw for six games he has to be that for 17, right?
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: What, so I think if you get the Malik Willis that he was in Green Bay for 17 years, you're probably looking at more than a nine win season.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: In my opinion, right?
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: Because that means he's elevated some of the wide receivers around him that people aren't expecting a lot of right now that means he's elevated Greg Dolce's at the tight end position.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think from my perspective, Malik Willis doesn't have to be the number one guy on the team in terms of driving that bus towards a winning season.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: At the end of the article, you'll find out I still predicted them to go 9 and 8, which technically is a winning season.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: I did predict them to miss the playoffs.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also not saying this is my official season projection.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying what would it look like if the team were to shock the world and have a winning record?
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: But in my opinion, obviously, Malik Willis has to limit turnovers, 10 interceptions or less for the entire season.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: He needs to play all 17 games and he has to limit turnovers.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be a big deal.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: The mommy dolphins have kind of shown their hand, right?
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: They want to put an emphasis on running the football.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: They went and got a mobile quarterback in Malik Willis.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: Devon H and signed a big extension.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: They drafted Cated Proctor in the first round and Cated Proctor and Patrick Paul on that left side is going to give the team two monsters that can mall defensive linemen and linebackers when they get to that next level.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think if they lean into that identity and then the defense
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: vastly performs expectations which doesn't make them a top five defense.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think if they're a middle of the pack defense They've still vastly overperformed what people expect them to do But I think they need to be opportunistic that classic Ben, but don't break they might give up a lot of yards They may end up somewhere in the I think I had them 18th
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: in total defense, but 12th in scoring defense.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: So a little bit of Ben, but don't break.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: They force opposing offenses to settle for field goals.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: And that would be a positive season for the Miami Dolphins.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: That would give you a lot of hope heading into the future that you have the right guys steering the ship.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: John Erick Sullivan shopping for the groceries and Jeff Haffley cooking
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's the most realistic pathway to a nine win season at minimum.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: Do I think it's going to happen?
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: Spoiler alert.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: Spoiler alert.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's going to happen.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: But if it were to happen, that's what it looks like to me.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: And you're going to need one of these wide receivers to step up.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that's Malik Washington.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that's Caleb Douglas.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if two to two at well has a resurgent season.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Tolbergh.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Same thing.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: but you're going to need somebody to step up and surprise you and you're going to have to lean on agent.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to have to continue to not only be a playmaker for your offense, but he's going to have to have his best professional season yet.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a tall task considering he's then a very, very good one of the best running backs in the NFL over the last three years.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: So he's going to need to take it to another level, especially now that he's got the big money deal.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: for it to really just break everything has to break in their way.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: Health is paramount because if you look at the roster and you know and you take off the rose color glasses and you start and you stop you know
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: You stop assigning, you know, things that are unlikely to players that quite frankly are not very good, you know, like you start thinking about, I know, this, this guy's going to emerge and you're thinking,
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have to tell you how rare it is that you know that they pan out in year one Usually they just show you flashes all year and you're like, you know, I think we have something here and then you're too They take off, you know Yeah, you know like like sauce gardener like that was completely out of the norm the sauce gardener was that good as a rookie You know, that's just not normal.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: It just doesn't happen
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the offensive line is paramount.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like all five guys essentially have to play the entire season.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: And if people think, oh my god, but that's just completely unrealistic.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the bills have done that twice.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: So it's something that actually does happen, right?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, the bills don't have Austin Jackson, it right tackles.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, so it's you're talking about if this and if that if the end the other thing it's just so much to ask when of course to have that magical season, but hey
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we're the things that have happened and I know people are fond of and I'll let you in here for a second people are fond of looking back at the 2018 because people forgot the 2018 one went 11 and 5 and when the division the previous year was their 115 year.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: So what what changed?
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that had a lot of things going for them, okay, first of all, they got Ricky Williams back.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: People forgot Ricky will play one game in the 115 season.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: They got Ricky Williams back.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: They got Ronnie Brown back.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: The augmented the offensive line with free agency and they got an MVP candidate at quarterback and it's been a ton of money on defense.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: So, you start adding all of those things up me.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, oh yeah, no wonder they were actually decent.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: And they, they popularized the Wildcat offense and kind of, and that was good for at least three or four.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: I won.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, that alone accounted for three or four wins.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: I remember, you know, then breaking that out against the Patriots and everybody was like, what the hell is this?
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: Where did this come from?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: And Bill Bellachek was shit, his pants on the sidelines.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what to do, and that was great.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's actually a video of a following year when we remember we had Pat White and Go Bella Check was talking to some of his coaches and he's like, I think tonight's the my tonight, I mean today might be a Pat White game and and I'm thinking myself, he still has the Wildcat ringing in his ear.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, the year before, you know what I mean?
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, the people know how to defeat it.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: It took forever.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: Oddly enough, it was the Ravens who kind of figured it out.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: And in the playoffs, it made a huge difference because they knew how to defend it.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: And essentially, how you defend it is just by blitzing it.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: And as we pretty brave, you know.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: You got to be able to trust running around to throw the ball to a lot of, you know, but when you go zero and guys are just plastered in coverage, it's hard to ask a running back to just to be accurate, especially when you're blitzing them.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: So he has to make decisions extremely fast.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, but it's like me on my eighth grade football team when I told the quarterback or excuse me, I told the coach that I played corner back last year in seventh grade.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: He thought I said quarterback.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: So me, he threw me in for the fourth quarter of a game.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, go out there and win this one for us.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I don't know what the fuck I'm doing.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: I play defense.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just chucking it up there.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: Throw an intersection after intersection.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: Look, the Carolina Panthers actually implemented it a little bit in their Super Bowl year.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't understand why the Wildcat is not a thing.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like a lot of these guys are really good ball handles.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of these running backs are really, really good ball handles.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you one who's a really, really good ball handle.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: The one HN is a hell of a ball handler.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't understand why on the goal line, that's not a thing league-wide because it's
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: Simple mathematics.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, essentially you got more blockers for defenders.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: Simple as that.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: Cause remember once the quarterback hands the pull off, it's useless.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: You're playing 10 on 11.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're in the wildcat, you're playing 11 on 11 football.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't know, I don't know why it's not a thing, but it should be.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, just to tie this in a neat little boat.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: Do I think the dolphins are going to have a winning season this upcoming year?
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, I don't.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: Do I think it's completely out of the question if all the stars align and Malik Willis proves that he's worth the contract and A-chan takes a step up and Dulse it, takes a step up and one of these wide receivers
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: pretty pretty void of of stars for the most part outside of Jordan Brooks and and you know Zach Sealer who might be on the the back nine here probably most likely on the back nine of his career here at this age if those guys can step up and come together and play together as a unit and be opportunistic could they realistically with this schedule get to nine wins
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's very, very unlikely, but like you said, I'll change your things of happened every year.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: You see a couple of teams become that Cinderella story in the National Football League.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just saying, why not us?
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: Why not this year?
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're due for some good luck, right?
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: We're due for some good luck.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the football gods shine on the Miami Dolphins in 2026.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but, Bala, we're going to go to break in in a second, but before we do, let me tell you about something else that I was thinking about with this team.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a question I've been asking my co-hosts and they're like, I don't know, I don't think so and I'm like, I do think so.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: Their win total is at four now, okay?
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: Which means Las Vegas is expecting them first of all, not to be good.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: Second of all, five wins is exceeding expectations, right?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: Every year on the podcast, I say the same thing and I've said the same thing about Mike McDaniel.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: This team's tend to underachieve.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: That first year where they went 9 and 8, their win total was 9 and a half.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: So they underachieved.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: The following year they won 11 games, their win total was 9 and a half.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: The third year, over a cheap second year, right?
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: Over a cheap.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, the second year, the over a cheap.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: The third year, they went eight and nine, and their win total was eight and a half.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: They under achieved again.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: And then the last year, their win total was seven and a half and they won seven.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I was sensing a pattern here with Mike McDaniel for those four years, three out of four.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I tend to put weight on things like that.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: if Jeff Haffley does not get to five wins.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: Do you start looking at him differently?
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: Do you start thinking of yourself?
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we don't got the right guy here.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: Because I'm fine to say, and I think Chris Kaufman said it once on when we were talking about the 2019 team when Brian Flores was taking over that disaster of a roster.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: We were saying quite frankly,
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: Good coaches don't go one of 15 and I understand that there's exceptions.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: Jimmy Johnson went one of 15.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, there are exceptions, but there's so few as in.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's just Jimmy Johnson like that's the only guy.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: So, do you first of all, do you agree with that?
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: That good coaches don't go one of 15?
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: And would you look at that wind total and actually put Jeff Haffley on the clock if he doesn't reach five wins?
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm willing to say he'd be on the clock, but I agree with you that one of 15 is unacceptable.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care who you are, where you are, what your roster looks like, how much dead cap you have winning one game in the national football league?
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's unacceptable, right?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: You have to do better than that.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: And if the dolphins can't reach that five win mark, yeah, you do start looking at Jeff Haffley a little bit different.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: And while maybe he's not on the clock,
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, maybe you start entertaining the idea that, okay, well, we're going to take a look at this season and if he wins three or four games in a second year, then you're saying to yourself, okay, it's time to move on, you know what I mean?
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's time to start looking at replacements, but
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: they have a tough schedule.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: They the roster has had a ridiculous amount of turn over you lost to a tonkel by low a tyree kill.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Wattle Bradley Chub.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Phillips was traded mid-season you lost Mink of Fitzpatrick and on and on and on like there's a lot of turnover.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: I do think you also kind of get that new head coach bump right where you get a new guy in there he's fresh he's excited he can motivate the team and get them playing well above expectations and you know if some of these losses are close games closer than expected if they're covering the point spread you do feel a little bit better about that you don't want to get blown out by 30, 40 points every game that's just not fun to watch but
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a difficult year, but if Hathley can get his guys to that five, six win, Mark seven wins, I think you feel pretty good about the team heading forward.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: You feel like you got the right guys in charge.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: Anything less than that, two, three wins.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: you're still in wait and see mode and that leash does get a little bit shorter for halfly moving forward.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully we don't have to deal with that.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: We've had to deal with a lot of bullshit throughout the years with this franchise.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: I would really like it if they finally finally got it right and figured it out.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I completely agree, but you know, it's just one of those things where
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm concerned this is I've looked at the roster there's a lot there's a lot to like about this roster by the way, okay, there's a lot of nice young players I do believe this is a better roster than the 2019 one, but the 2019 one, I think I guess was it was saved by Ryan Fitzpatrick, yeah, and and a big divante Parker season.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: and some heroic performances, namely one in New England, one in Minneapolis, like they played way to way above their heads in a couple of those games.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Flores actually did a really really good job, but Brian Flores was what a lot of people say about him and what I say about him, like a lot of that, that who rarer off fire and brimstone shit, only really
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: has a very short shelf life, you know, and then it just wears you out and it's gone.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what happened with Brian Flores.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he did a fabulous job.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that that 2019 roster was tragic in how bad it was.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: This one is not that.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: This one has a lot going for it.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: The only problem is it's severely lacking in depth and the upper echelon talent on this team is just not there.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: At least it's not there yet.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think five wins.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be really, really happy about five points.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you about a new sponsor.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: And it's Lucy.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: Lucy nicotine pouches.

- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, sir.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: What did you enjoy?
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: I watched the whole thing and I'll be the first to admit I'm not the biggest soccer guy, right?
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: I watched the World Cup when it comes around, especially if USA is doing well, which they certainly are this year.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: But I watched the whole game, I knew we were going to be talking about it, and you know?
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: I like sports, man.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like I just like sports.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, hey, I don't know what what fucking offsets is.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like I like I get it, right?
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: They they scored a couple goals that got taken back.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just like, guys, close enough, right?
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: Just let him have it.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: But.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: they ended up winning anyways and it was I mean anytime especially right now when we're just a couple days away from the 250th anniversary of America becoming America it's perfect time to to root for team USA and that's exactly what I was doing.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, speaking of which and go get to it to, you know, it's it's falling right in line and I said this on on the discord and by the way, if you want to become a member of our discord, go to discord.gg forward slash only fins, you can become a member of their all access for $4.99 a month read only is $2.99 a month join on a desktop avoid the apple chart apple up charges.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: I was talking about that and we're going to talk about that in in a little bit, but the trade that Boston made,
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I was telling Simon that the last time Boston had this bad of a time a bunch of his countryman had massacred a bunch of them, which is right on time for the for the July 4th holiday.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: That trade for the Boston Celtics began to get into it a little bit, but we're going to talk first about the U.S. men's national team.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: That red card.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: Look, I actually like soccer, I watch a lot of it.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: I love the U.S. men's national team.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: For those that don't know, US men's national team for years and we're talking a good chunk.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe 20 years was one of the most dysfunctional federations anywhere in the world.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: But under Pochantino, they've kind of had a direction.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: They have a style that suits the American sensibility, right?
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: and we'll talk a little bit about them too as they've solved their their the goalie situation.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: Their style.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: They're no longer that team anymore.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: They're no longer that team where you're like, ah, you know, if they just get out of the group phase where it will be pretty happy.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like, no, they have expectations.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: They're playing Belgium on Monday.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to play them without
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: And they're favored to win the game, which means that they're favored to go to the quarter finals of the world cup, America.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: So they've come a long way, but let me ask you, and I'll tell you, because I actually do have an opinion on this.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't show a yellow card for a play,
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: And then you go to replay, you can't just elevate it all the way to a right card.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_00]: That makes no sense to me.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what are you going to see in a video?
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: You watching something in slow motion.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: Anything in slow motion is going to look worse than what it was.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: So what did you make of that?
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: Because it made for some aeroics that to play one man down for 36 minutes.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and they got it done.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: And not only did they get it done, they added another gold during that time period.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean good on them, but as far as that red card goes and again, as as I just said, not the biggest soccer guy, so I don't really get all the intricacies, but like you said, slowing that down anything's going to look like it was an attempted murder.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's a bang, bang play, you know what I mean?
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't intentionally trying to step on the dude's ankle.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't intentionally trying to injure this fellow, you know what I mean?
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like that is completely...
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: that was unintentional.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm trying to say.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: It was an unintentional play.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: You want to give him a yellow card for that shirt.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: You go straight to a red card.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's a greasiest.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: And you saw the outcry from everyone, every American, every single one on social media last night.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody thought that was a red card.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to agree with all of them.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: If they didn't think it was a red card, I don't think it's a red card either.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I think this fellow should be playing against Belgium on Monday.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but he's not.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: So they'll have Ricardo Papi and for those wondering, you know, what would be my opinion, you know, it's, are they a little bit more behind the ball here?
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: I believe so.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: If they had Balagun for this game against Belgium, I don't, I'd be, I'd be feeling really, really good about their chances on Monday.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's like basically 50, 50 and I understand that they're favored, you know, but play Ricardo Papi and his and Balagun's place.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the difference as far scoring touch.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: uh, Peppy is just as good as Balagoon, but Balagoon wins.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: He wins balls from the midline all the way to the box and Peppy does not.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like Peppy basically needs somebody to uh,
- 23:41[SPEAKER_00]: assistant, somebody to, you know, to set the table for him for him to be able to score while Balagun just, basically do it all on its own.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: Even his goal was on the turnover and he was essentially in a group of three guys and he found the ball onto his foot to put the goal in.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a big difference.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to play a much more connected game on Monday
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: But how do you like the world cup?
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's fun, right?
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: I always love, it's always great to see an event that actually brings people together, but also appeals to the hatred that some people have for other countries.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like a double-edged sword.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: I absolutely love it.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of fun.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: As I speak, I think Spain is up one nothing on Austria.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's a potential opponent on the line for the United States.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, how have you liked the whole thing?
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: Have you been watching all the games?
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, I've caught little bits and glimpses of each game.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: I watched the full B team, the American B team, lose the game the other night, which made me feel bad.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh man, of course I tune in and they lose.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: It must be my fault somehow.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: you know, as a dolphins fan.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: I've been conditioned to feel that way after my team place.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: But then I watched last night and they redeemed themselves.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: They want to know and it was exciting to see Levi Stadium in Santa Clara.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: Chocful of American soccer fans, they were loud, they were boisterous, they were excited.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really cool, especially in this day and age, you know, with all of the bipartisan politics and everybody's mad at everybody and I don't like you and you don't like me and yada yada yada.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's really cool.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_01]: to have that one thing that can bring us all together as Americans.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: And right now it's the men's USA World Cup soccer team and we're all rooting for the same squad and we want the same thing.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: We want to win gold.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: Imagine winning
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: gold in men's Olympic hockey, and then turning around and winning the World Cup.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like how people think Americans are insufferable now, we will be walking around our chest out, cigar smoke in, you know, just talking trash to every fucking country around the globe.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like that would be an accident to happen on the 250th anniversary of the birth of
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, and they're playing that game on Monday in Seattle.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: That place is going to be a snake pit big big soccer town Seattle, right?
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and that crowd is going to be rock us on Monday.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: We were on the moving on the basketball.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: Have you gotten wind of this trade that the Celtics made yesterday?
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's yes, it's one of the most it's one of the most delicious things that you can ever You could you could almost picture like it like think about it like this.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's bittersweet moments like your worst enemy going over a cliff in your brand new car or something like that like that's bittersweet Okay, but when you're opponent essentially just sets himself on fire.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: You just look at it and you're like damn like This is good like these are good things are happening now all of a sudden for us.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, man.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's like a buffalo tomorrow Just say you know what
- 27:23[SPEAKER_00]: We would look at that thing.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: We would look at that, like, like, I don't know how my phone around here, but if I have my phone, I would get my phone and be like, like, is it a joke?
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like, how lucky are we?
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're sashing culture.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: Where's the punct, you know?
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, like, can you remember anything like that?
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: A team just essentially saying, I would just, you know, we give up.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: We give up.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, and I mean, you hear the rumors before Yannis decides to join the Yannis, you know, before the trade is, is consummated here, well, we'll possibly Jalen Brown for Yannis, and then you're like, oh, I don't want to see Yannis embossed in.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: Admittedly, I'm not like a long time heat fan.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: I do root for the heat when they're doing well.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I am a long time Boston Hater, all things Boston.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: Fuck the Celtics, fuck the Patriots, fuck the Red Sox, and you fuck the hockey team too.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even watch all that closely, but when I watch bad things happen,
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: to Boston sports teams.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: It makes me happy.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so to see them not yet on this, that was great, right?
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: And he goes to Miami, a city where I can root for their sports teams, right?
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm a Dalman's fans.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm friends with with many people who are fans of the other sports teams.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I can root for my amy teams.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: You'll never see me rooting for a Boston sports team.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: It just doesn't fucking happen.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: So to see Janice go to Miami and then to see Jalen Brown get traded for the corpse of Paul George, which I'm going to be honest with the elf.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't even 100% sure that Paul George was still in the league when I saw the trade come across the old Twitter machine.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I thought he was done.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: He may not actually physically be done playing the game of basketball,
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: far behind him.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: So to see them trade, a guy like Jalen Brown who's kind of right in the middle of his prime for somebody who's way washed way over the hill, that that felt good to me.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: And that's not even as a heat fan.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's just as a Boston hater.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: So you must have loved the summer
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: The Florida Panthers, if you remember, that Boston Bruins team was considered one of the best teams of all time, that one of the best regular seasons of all time.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: And they play the lowly-ate-seated Florida Panthers in the first round.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_00]: And the Florida Panthers are sure enough, they're down three games to one, and it looks like, okay, the inevitable is gonna happen here, the better team.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna win in five or something like that.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_00]: And the Panthers win one,
- 30:15[SPEAKER_00]: and they win Game 6 and they forced a Game 7 in Boston and it looks like they're losing that one too until they tie it late and when I say late I believe it was like five seconds left and they win it in overtime and they eliminate the Boston Bruins.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: three weeks later, the Miami heat is up three games to nothing against the Boston Celtics and the Boston Celtics launch one of the greatest comebacks in NBA history as they went three consecutive games and sure enough set up a game seven in TD Garden where the Celtics there's no way on earth right that the Celtics are going to lose this game after coming back from down three nothing to the Miami heat.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: They're not gonna lose games seventh to the Miami Heat, do they?
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the Miami Heat was up 22 points like in the first quarter.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: And because blue them out on their court, and that's what led to that infamous photo of Bill Simmons.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's great photo.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: It keeps happening to them and it keeps happening to them at the expense of the Miami sports franchises When is it going to happen for the dolphins like that's what I'm hoping for?
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, and even I mean even during the Patriots glory years Tom Brady never lost more games than he did to the Miami dolphin So yeah, the city city Miami can can have can stake some big claims against the city of Austin when it comes to sports
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, like that's a fact.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: Last thing, Panthers seem to have like solved their their I want to say solved but they're gone they've gone in a direction.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: for gold tender this year for their goalie.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, Sergei Babrovsky leaves to the the Tampa Bay, I mean the Tampa Bay.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_00]: He left to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_00]: The government, something would have gone to the lightening to back up.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's a less thing.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: But he goes to the Toronto Maple Leafs for 21 million for three years.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be 38 when this season starts.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think that that's a wise
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: They outbid what Miami was, I mean, what Florida was willing to spend.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: Florida ends up with Jacob North Markstrom after they make a trade and a Kirishment.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now, here's the thing.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_00]: Jacob Markstrom is considered one of the worst puck handling, goalies and all of hockey, but a Kirishment is considered one of the best.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: They're completely different guys.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: One has
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: He has some stat lines that was suggest he's going to be a pretty good player in this league, a Kirishmit.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: He's only 26 years old.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: Jacob Marshall is probably seeing his best days.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that they've solved or they're set with what they have at Goli or do you think that they still have their eye out for something else?
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, it's hard to say with you, you got the young guy like you said you bring him in and Really what a boy is down to is detrosito
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: Do you trust Zito?
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: And do you have any reason not to trust Zito?
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: So if you trust Zito, then you got to feel comfortable with this move, right?
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: You bring the young guy in, you see if you can coach him up if not, you got the veteran who can fill in and maybe he can help coach up the young guy too.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: So I do trust Bill Zito and I'm just gonna leave it in his hands and if he says this is the way to go for the Panthers and this is the way to go.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: You hope that if your if the results you get from your goalie dip a little bit going from serigate to these guys, you hope that that is made up for with the addition of Kachak and now you you got the brothers coming in and and and solidifying this offense a little bit so I feel good about the team going into this upcoming season which gosh, we're just a little over three months away from starting.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and they did bring back a fan favorite from the 2023 Stanley Cup finalists that lost to the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_00]: They brought back Raikogudas and let me ask you a question about Raikogudas.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a decent defenseman.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's just slow.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's just the fact.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, he's physical.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_00]: But is there anybody in sports where they better nickname them radical kudos is nickname is the butcher That's pretty fucking good That's pretty good.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: Well, what do they call Martian?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: the rat, the wrecking.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of liked that one too.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: I do really like that one.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: And that's just kind of how he plays, right?
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: He gets under your skin and he's just fucking rodent just taking you out.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: I like that one too.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: God best sports nicknames, that's tough.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what's funny is that it's almost a compliment to call him, you know, call him the wrecking, because
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: the in hockey parlance, a rat, you know who a rat is.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_00]: He's just an irritator.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: A guy who's probably gonna keep shot you.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: And he's gonna talk trash.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's gonna be chirping all game, you know.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_00]: Basically a guy that you just, you just want to strangle.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_00]: First chance you get, right?
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_00]: And his nickname is the rat king.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_00]: So he's the king of these people.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: That you want to strangle, you know what I mean?
- 35:56[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just so apropos that after every win
- 36:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, and of course, Greta's call ever this past season when he had a hat trick, they called it a rat trick.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: So you just awesome.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's something different in my business.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of your business and I guess we'll end here.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: Not a champions came and
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, I want to ask you this.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: This is like a booking decision and you're familiar with one of these fellows at least.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: Seth Rollins, Beats, Brombraker again.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I came away a little bit underwhelmed like that's three wins in a row like and I guess my problem with it is because of the whole presentation right like you know wrestling is really like look you're looking at the product in the ring and that's important like if if you're having crap matches it's not going to be a good product right.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: We have in great matches.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be a good product either.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 37:05[SPEAKER_00]: Because AEW proves that all the time.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_00]: Okay?
- 37:09[SPEAKER_00]: So everything has to go in hand and hand.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: You agree with me, right?
- 37:13[SPEAKER_00]: The announcers, the production, the match, everything has to go hand and hand to have a good show, right?
- 37:19[SPEAKER_00]: It, it takes a village like they say, okay.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think part of the problem I went back and I looked at it.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: Part of the problem I think was Michael Cole.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_00]: who was just gaslighting the whole time.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_00]: To a point where Cory Graves, who I think is fabulous, Cory Graves is the best of all of the, in my opinion, the best of all of the announcers and analysts, if you wanna call them an analyst.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was part of the problem was Michael Cole just gaslighting us.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: When Brombraker loses for the third consecutive time to Seth Rollins,
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: Michael Cole's call is Brombreaker has proven he belongs in the upper echelon of the WWE.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, no, he has not.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's lost three straight times in being honest.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_00]: That makes sense.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: Well, coming from Cole's perspective and the company's perspective, the fact that somebody is new in his fresh and is green as Brinker, the fact that he can hang with Rollins and take him to the limit, even if he does end up losing three times in a row,
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the fact that he's even in the ring with him is kind of a rub in and of itself.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't, it's probably a bit overkill to your point out if I don't know if he needed to lose that many times in a row.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you're trying to shine, roll ends up and get him ready for this big championship match.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: against Roman Reigns at Summerslam.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: You want people to believe that there's a chance that Rollins can dethrone.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: Rollman, even though Rollman is, you know, freshly won the championship.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: Historically, it's had very long title reigns, so you know a lot of people aren't going to think that Rollins is going to win at Summerslam, so you're trying to to kind of shine them up and make them look good, heading into that match.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't know if beating Braun Breaker three times in a row was the best thing.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: for somebody like Breaker who you have big plans for in the future as a company.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: You in five five years, Breaker could be the guy, not just one of the guys, but the guy.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, it's wrestling that you can always find ways to circle back around and get him hot and get him where you need him to be when you need him to be that.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: So, um,
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: I see your point.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_00]: I see their point kind of in the middle on on all of that they can also use it as a you know part of the story line right like you know Maybe a loot to his injury You know as he comes back You know, maybe they could do something about that other matches on this card Jake Cargo and Tiffany Stratton It's all over now the internet and I've ever watched and now I'm like whoa
- 40:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that does look good, and then I was thinking myself, there's a reason why that looks good.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if you've been watching, but like, Twitter is like hopping over this match.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: Pepper Niven, is she even under contract with WDB?
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: Cause she basically just took the Twitter and eviscerated Jake Cargo.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I did see a little bit of that.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't, I don't think she's under contract anymore and I think she was one of the recent, unless she won't be after Triple H, or it's this.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: now do you buy any of that because I saw the video and I'm like oh my god she did hit her for real and she did that the abyss lamb uh what do they call it what does she call it she has a name for it oh god I don't know what she calls it it was the black hole slam correct yeah and my god she almost killed her and then she did a go to sleep on Tiffany and hit her for real
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I saw the video now.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: I kept looking at her like yeah, yeah, she absolutely mailed her So look new farm respect for Tiffany Stratton like she's she's tough all right?
- 41:16[SPEAKER_00]: But this match is just not good.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think they just don't have chemistry.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: They just, you know, sometimes, and it happens, look, Becky Lynch is an all-time great.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember her matches with Ronda Rosy, we're absolutely terrible.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't like her.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: I just, they look clunky, you know?
- 41:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when a match is bad, I'm not telling you anything that you don't know.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when the match starts looking at like, you know, you go and I go, you go and I go,
- 41:42[SPEAKER_00]: when it looks like there's too much cooperation, it's probably a bad match, you know?
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that's kind of where it comes down to, right?
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: Is you're getting a lot of these, these people that they're trying to fast track into higher positions on the card, and maybe they're just not ready, especially, and we've talked about this before,
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: And they're getting better about it now, but especially without all of the house shows where they have the opportunity to work with each other and get the reps. And there's no substitution for reps. That's what I always tell my students.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay, if your drop kick isn't where you want it to be, then get in the fucking ring and practice drop kicks.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: Do 100 drop kicks in a row until you're there.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_01]: When you're bad at free throws in basketball, what do you do?
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: You get in the fucking gym and you shoot free throws, you know what I mean?
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: So if these ladies aren't getting the reps against each other, or even just the reps in general, having less matches than a roster ever has, then it's going to be difficult to get better quickly, which is what the company needs if they're going to put these guys and girls into the positions that they're putting them in, right?
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: You need the reps.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I was happy to see
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: that they're coming back with some more house shows, you know, I was talking to Rollins recently, he said, this upcoming month, July is the busiest month in terms of wrestling matches that he's had in quite a long time.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's good for the business.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's especially good for the young performers, the inexperienced performers.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it should lead to better matches than the one that you saw between
- 43:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and, you know, when you say green, it's pretty much green in, in all, all regards with, with Jade Cargill like, Yeah, you know, like she, yeah, she just needs help.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, even when you see her, they send her out on, on ESPN.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_00]: When they send out Seth Rollins, like Seth Rollins essentially already, he's a media figure.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_00]: So he's he's, but, you know, not to mention Seth Rollins because he's the easy one to mention because he's so good at it.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_00]: But seeing punk is spectacular.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_00]: Cody Rhodes.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_00]: Cody Rhodes could run for president.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, you know me like these guys are polished people Roman Reigns is polished
- 44:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they sent Jake Cargo out there and she wasn't very polished and, you know, you know, then you see all of a sudden, this starts sending real Ripley and they have a real Ripley talking about Jake.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_00]: And you're not even wrestling her, wrestling her.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm talking about her.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_00]: So obviously they told Rea, hey, when you get out there, you know, mentioned Jake, you know, like, you know, so we could, you know, get a little shine on that match.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, a final thing.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_00]: uh... the main event semisane defeats gunker or gunker and cody and his champ uh... you told me i told you my problem with this i hate these fan service matches like their insati arabia obviously yet when the match started i didn't know who's gonna win and because i didn't i i was i wasn't following the updates or any i you know i'm putting notifications because
- 44:51[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you something.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_00]: WWE has to understand that there's a lot of people that don't watch their show's live, stop going on your Twitter account and announcing all the results as they happen immediately.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_00]: Immediately.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's it's really annoying.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_00]: I had to turn off my notifications because sometimes like I have a delay when I'm watching it, I have like a seven second delay and they're putting the the finish.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: I swear to God.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: It was like two WrestleMania's ago.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was the one in Philadelphia.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, two WrestleMania's ago.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_00]: I had forgotten to turn off my notifications, but I wasn't looking at it.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I was watching the matches and I'm hearing my phone going, bling bling.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, what?
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: Then look at the screen.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, there's the pinfall.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I want it, wait a minute.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: is my phone telling me that there's going to be a pinfall.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_00]: Sure enough it was.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_00]: So I waited for one of their 5,000 commercial breaks and I went to the notification.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, these people are posting the result as the hand comes down for three in these matches.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I said my piece.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, you, you give your opinion here.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like these fan service matches when before the match started.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking at the screen
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: took me completely out of the match.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_00]: When I saw and by the way, Michael Cole, Michael Cole kept to Michael Cole had a bad night.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: He was like, I don't think that they're cheering Sammy.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they're behind Cody and I'm like, are you deaf, Michael Cole?
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, this crowd is losing their shit over Sammy.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: And they're booing Cody.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's the opposite of what you're saying.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like he was trying to sell that they were behind Cody and against Sammy.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: No, it was completely opposite.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: They boot, going through out of the building.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: They boot Cody.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: And they were popping out of the place for Sammy.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't like the fan service.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like when it's so predictable, your thoughts.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: So, and I told you this off air, but Sammy and I are our friends in real life.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: I've known him for well over 20 years at this point.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: He is a fantastic human being.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's a great friend.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: He'll talk to you, you're off, right?
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: You sit down and you have a one hour conversation with him.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to talk for at least 55 minutes of that, but he's a smart guy and just a genuinely good person.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know, clearly, they were cheering for Sammy, right?
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: He represents the Muslim faith.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: They are Muslim.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: They see themselves in Sammy Zayn, even though he's a redhead from Canada.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so they were cheering for him.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_01]: They were rooting for him.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_01]: Cody Rhodes is the All-American boy.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: And last I checked people from Saudi Arabia, not big fans of people from America.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: So it only makes perfect sense why they would be cheering for Sammy Zayn and not Cody Rhodes.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't, you know, don't piss on my face and tell me that it's raining, you know, and I mean like I'm watching the thing, I know what's happening here.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: So there's no sense in trying to turn it into something.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just be honest.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was the same thing with the heart foundation back in the day in America.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: their heels in Canada.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: They're the most over baby faces you can find and that's okay.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: You can actually keep things interesting by playing into that a little bit.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: But I also told you off air that I wouldn't be surprised if Sami Zayn is not the champion by the time Somerslam rolls around.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't be surprised if some way shape or form and I know the promo is on Monday would indicate
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: In my opinion, drops the belt to Brock Lesnar at some point before Summerslam and then that match between Lesnar and Oberfemi in the Hell in a Cell turns into a championship match or maybe the other thing maybe we turn around and it ends up being
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: Sammy for the heavyweight championship, the very next night, and maybe Oba comes across and wins both, right?
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: Especially with how strongly they're pushing Oba at the moment.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_01]: That'd be a great way to really make him your Superman of sorts.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not convinced that Sammy is a champion for a long time, but I will admit to you that that deep in my heart after knowing this man for for well over two decades.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm happy he gets his due.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's always been a great human being and a great professional wrestler as well.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_00]: Although Kevin owns this come back.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: And that could play into Sammy losing the championship because I know Kevin Owens, you know, had a big post and a, you know, tear jerking post online about his best friend in life.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a shoot winning the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: And that's amazing, but Kevin Owens, that dastardly Kevin Owens.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's been known to turn his back on his friends and specifically Sammy Zane, a time or two, wouldn't be the first time.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I've never understood and well we know we know Triple H hates tag team wrestling
- 50:08[SPEAKER_00]: but I never understood why they just didn't put those two guys together and given the strap and had them hold it for four years.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 50:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you could just feed team after team after team and they'll never get old.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_00]: Kevin O and Sami Zeng will never get old because they're just so big personalities.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like they could legitimately be one of the best tax teams of all time.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_00]: Unless maybe you know a little bit something that I don't.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_00]: You think that they don't they don't like it.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_00]: They don't like tag wrestling or There's there's more money in singles wrestling.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to speak between as many as has many guys even if they're even if they're universally known as the best tag team in the world
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and I don't know if it's the same, but back in the day you'd get bonuses for your match, but it had to be split amongst everyone in the match, so if you're in a singles match, that only has to be split between two guys, but if it's a tag, it's got to be split between four, so.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: And you can't raise their pay.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you can do whatever you want, but, you know, there's God, well, based on the house, and whatever, this is how much each match gets, and you've got to split it amongst those and the referee.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_00]: So what you're telling me is that the heyday of taxi and wrestling is never coming back.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: Not with your place in charge, that's for sure.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm fortunate right like he was he was in DX and DX had a great tag team their road dog and and Mr. S like come on yep like they're one of the all-time great tag teams absolutely
- 51:40[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_00]: So no problem with Oberfemi cutting a promo saying I don't give a crap about championships.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_01]: I just want Brock Lesnar and I do have a problem with that.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: It is like one of the number one rules in wrestling never bury the championship the championship is the ultimate prize.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's like
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's like when a team's doing that, hey, we can relate this to Miami Dolphins.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: We know exactly what this feels like.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's like when we have a shitty season, but we beat the Patriots in Week 18 and they lose home field advantage in the playoffs.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, yeah, that's cool, but we would all much rather win a Super Bowl instead of that being the consolation prize.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, but in and Brock, they got, they got their rubber match on the horizon here, but the number one goal in professional wrestling should always be to be the champion.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: If it's not, then what are we doing?
- 52:33[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_00]: I want to call it right here.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_00]: The next time we talk to you, we'll be for the last time.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we're going to be very dolphin intensive.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_00]: We went long today, but we're going to be very dolphin intensive in the next and maybe we'll have
- 52:49[SPEAKER_00]: some world cup to still talk about because make help me out states, United States is still going by that time.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_00]: And if they are, it's going to make for a good show.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_00]: But that's it.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_00]: We will see you again next week.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: Peace!
