- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey friend, thank you so much for joining once again right here on Bible Tract Echoes.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: We must reach the next generation.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: We say that as Christians as Bible believers all the time, but do we put feet to it?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: Do we take action?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: Today I'd like to ask you to consider using a gospel track called seven questions, boys and girls ask.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: This gospel track was written by our founder, Dr. Paul Levine so many years ago and we're thankful that he did because it's been a phenomenal tool for the sake of reaching young men and young women with the gospel.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: kids ask some crazy questions sometimes.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: Don't they?
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: I have two girls.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: Emmy and Lucy they are as I recall.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: Lucy just turned five at the end of last year.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: And Emmy, I can't believe it, will be seven toward the middle of this year.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: So there's six and five right now and they're getting to that stage where they are curious and inquisitive about everything.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: They ask far more than seven questions per day, but there are seven spiritual questions that boys and girls might ask that may be helped by this gospel track.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, I can assure you they will be helped by this gospel track because it contains guns.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Word and answers right from the Bible.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'd ask you to go to Bibletracksink.org.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: You can order some of that gospel track.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you have a vacation Bible school coming up sometime later this year.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you'd like to get some for some Easter outreach or something like that.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe include them with some eggs or something you're going to paint for Easter.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever it may be, go to Bibletracksink.org.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: Get seven questions, boys and girls as we love to send you some today.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now, we are in the Book of First Samuel chapter number 30.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: For Samuel chapter number 30, we've kind of introduced this yesterday and the day before.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: Here we are in the middle of the week and we have not gotten anywhere near as far as I anticipated getting in this passage of Scripture.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's okay, because I think our left
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: turn yesterday was directly into salvation and explaining how you can know for sure where you're going when you die.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's a pretty good place to get lost on a rabbit trail.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: So, I'm not going to apologize or complain about that, but we are going to get back on track today.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: Our Samuel chapter 30, we find David, he's greatly distressed, the people speak of stoning him.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Because they've lost confidence in him as a leader, maybe, because enemy, the malachites have come in and taken their wives, their children, and they've kidnapped them to their knowledge they might be dead.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: But now, the people are beside themselves, sorely grieved, David is as well, and they
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: But what does he do in verse number six?
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: How do we handle discouragement?
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: How do we handle distress?
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: When in trouble, or in doubt, an old American author said, run in circles, scream and shout, no, that's not what the Christian was supposed to do.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's for sure.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: David, the Bible says in 1 Samuel chapter 30 of verse six, but David encouraged himself in the Lord, his,
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: God.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: What does encourage me?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I want you to turn over the book of Daniel chapter number 11.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: Daniel chapter 11.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna give you a just little background on this word, but the word means to inspire with courage, spirit, or hope.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: There is none other.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: There is no one or anything, no thing that can do that to inspire with courage, spirit, or hope like God Almighty.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I don't normally
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't normally get too deep into the Hebrew and all those types of things.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: Not that it's necessarily a bad thing whatsoever, but today I will.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: Daniel chapter 11, verse number 32, in asking about that word encouraged, there's a word in this verse, Daniel 1132 that is in the Hebrew, the same word.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: As that word encouraged himself or encouraged, the Bible says in day 1132, and such as do wickedly, against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries, but the people that do know their God.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: I know we're kind of pulling this verse at a context, but we're just backing up a little bit about what this word encouraged means.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: But the people that do know their God shall
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: be strong and do exploits.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: The Hebrew word for encourage in 1st Samuel chapter number 30 and the word for strong in Daniel chapter 1132.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's the same.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: Encourage and strong.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: Here in Scripture, David encouraged himself and the Lord is God and here in Daniel 1132.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: The people that do know their God shall be
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: Strong.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know what sounds like when you get close to God, when you know God, when you spend time with God, there's strength and encouragement that comes from that.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: David, essentially, made himself strong in the Lord.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: You see, and encourage a strong person can deal with a hard situation and encourage a strong person will buck up under a bad time and encourage or strong
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: those around them, which is what David does when they're in that bad situation.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: What does one have to do?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: How do we encourage ourselves in the Lord?
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I noticed a couple of ways that David could have done that.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if he remembered past victories.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if David thought back.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: We mentioned this on Monday.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: This is the same David that killed Goliath.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: This is the same David that killed Alain and a bear.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: This is David.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's a man's man.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's a warrior.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's a provider.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's a protector.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's on his way to the kingdom.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: to taking the kingdom.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if he thought back to when he killed Goliath.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if he thought back to that victory, maybe?
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can also imagine him in my mind's eye, weeping.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: Not just crying, but weeping, beside himself, casting about shaking his head, tears just would not stop, but then he thought back.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: to how it felt when he pulled that gigantic sword out of that sheath.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: When he thought back to relieving Goliath of his sword and his head,
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if he had to think back before he could encourage himself before he could become strong.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if he had to think back every time he had one of victory in the name of a Lord.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: Friend, I think we could do a far better job of cataloging the good times.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's interesting how we keep track of time, isn't it?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: Far more often historically speaking.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: We think of the bad times.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: World War One.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: World War Two.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: Vietnam, the famine of such and such Katrina, 9-11, a dust bowl, superstorm sandy, you fill in the blank.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: It takes us back to a time, and all of those things, what are they having common?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: They were all bad things.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: for the sake of humanity and for the sake of people lost their lives, none of those things were great.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Why is it not that we keep track of things?
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: By the good times, we do a wonderful job of keeping track of the bad times.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: We always remember the worst of times.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: Not only do I think that he remembered past victories, I wonder if he recognized who had brought him thus far.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't start giving credit to God for what he's done.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: Psalm 106 verse 1, praise ye, the Lord, O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good for His mercy endureeth forever.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they said back in that day that David killed his 10,000s, but he still gave God the credit
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to turn over Psalm 107.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: If I can find it while we're just listening in here, I just read from Psalm 106.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: He was in my notes, but Psalm 107, O give thanks unto the Lord.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: For he is good for his mercy and earth wherever.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: That is Psalm 107 verse 1.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: But there's another verse that comes through multiple times in Psalm 107, multiple times.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: I believe
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: that men would praise the Lord for his goodness and for his wonderful works that children and men almost sounds like the Psalmist of 107 sounds like they wanted to praise God for what he has done.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: A verse number 21 says the exact same thing I'll read it again.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that men would praise the Lord for his goodness and for his wonderful works to the children of men.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it says it again here.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see verse 131, O that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men, and it's almost like God's trying to communicate something to us.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like we're supposed to pay attention, recognize who has brought you thus far.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: We need to give him the glory.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: When you start magnifying God, your problem always shrinks.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: But on the inverse, when you start magnifying your problem, what happens?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: It makes God seem so very small and he's not small at all.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: Remember passive victories?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: How do you handle discouragement?
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: Now, remember passive victories, yes?
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Recognize who has brought you this far and rely on your God.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: Paul said it.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: sang a Corinthians chapter 12, verse 9, and he said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: For my strength is made perfect in weakness, most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: The Proverbs chapter 3 verse 5, trust in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not unto thy own understanding.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: I've got to ask friend when we're talking about encouragement or discouragement.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: Where do you place your focus?
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: Do you place it on the problem?
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: is it all encompassing?
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: Is it surrounding you?
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: In the the vene diagram of the problem are you one little blip in the middle and it's all around you or is God so much bigger than your problem?
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: Is the problem inside the circumference of God's majesty and might?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: I must ask your friend, if you're discouraged, if you're distressed, if you're depressed, if you're balling it down and put down and cannot seem to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: And you think even if there was light, it might be a freight train.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: Let me ask you, when's the last time you remembered what God has done for you?
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: When's the last time you recognized what he has brought you from and how far he's brought you?
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: When's the last time you actually talked to him, told him how good he is, and then told him, God, I am relying on you, I can't do this on my own.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: I have a snake in suspicion.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: If you were to do that, it would change drastically, drastically change.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: The way you go forward, and how long your distress sticks around.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask you, tune in tomorrow and Friday as we conclude this week of broadcast and here on Bible Trek Deco's, I'm Michael McCurray.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for listening, have a great day for his glory.
