- 1:03Speaker 3: He's wearing an I am kenaf shirt from the movie Barbie.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It felt appropriate, it was brilliant and it was a
- 1:13Speaker 1: gift from you, my friend, so thank you so much,
- 1:16Speaker 1: thank you.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I saw it, I was like, he needs to have
- 1:18Speaker 3: he needs this now because I've seen roughly like sixty
- 1:23Speaker 3: different turtles things that I was like, I should just
- 1:26Speaker 3: get this for him. And I usually bail because I
- 1:28Speaker 3: don't know if you have it.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I was like, I'm gonna get this one.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I feel like, yes, this one he.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Needs Yeah, like that he needed it.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I like it. I like it.
- 1:37Speaker 3: You been pal, I've been so good. Thank you for
- 1:39Speaker 3: asking My god. Had a very fun night. We just
- 1:43Speaker 3: got back from Liddy's first softball practice. She's never played before.
- 1:48Speaker 1: So fun. What did she think?
- 1:50Speaker 3: She had a great time.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Right, that's all the matters.
- 1:53Speaker 3: It works out. She is with It's like second grader
- 1:57Speaker 3: is to fourth grader. She's in fourth grade, and so
- 2:00Speaker 3: she's never played before, and I felt like that was
- 2:03Speaker 3: kind of a good time yeah to do it, you
- 2:05Speaker 3: know what I mean? Absolutely, Yeah, But it's fun seeing
- 2:08Speaker 3: the difference, Like there are just these little, itty bitty
- 2:11Speaker 3: second graders and then he's like monster fourth graders. Yeah
- 2:17Speaker 3: that's interesting. Yeah, but I think she likes it. So
- 2:21Speaker 3: that's cool.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Pretty cool. And it was just a beautiful night for it,
- 2:26Speaker 1: the nicest evening.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Couldn't ordered up a nicer one, couldn't do it, couldn't
- 2:30Speaker 3: do it.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Love that.
- 2:30Speaker 3: It was perfect. Tell me all about your trip this weekend.
- 2:33Speaker 3: How was it?
- 2:33Speaker 1: It was? Lovely? Went up to Nisswa. I have since
- 2:38Speaker 1: learned I was saying it wrong, so you were correct.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Boom, I swear I've.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Heard someone say niswa, but I must have made that up.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Everyone looked at me like I was crazy. I was like,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I didn't sorry, but yeah, just beautiful. We
- 2:54Speaker 1: did not have great weather, but we still had a
- 2:57Speaker 1: great time. It was really windy and yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 3: What was it cold? Yeah it was cold down here too.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yeah, we like it was like the day before. It
- 3:04Speaker 1: was great. We picked like the two worst days. But honestly,
- 3:08Speaker 1: we hung out, we played cards, we.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Ate food like we were going to do that if
- 3:12Speaker 3: it was nice out too.
- 3:13Speaker 1: We were good. Yeah, it was fun, man, We had
- 3:15Speaker 1: a great timely. I totally see why you guys you know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: used to go there all the time when you were
- 3:21Speaker 1: a kid.
- 3:21Speaker 4: O for sure.
- 3:22Speaker 1: So beautiful, so cute. We were at Lost Lake Lodge
- 3:27Speaker 1: and it was lovely cool. It's very cool.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Is that on one of the lakes.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's a maybe I think it's part of the Gull
- 3:35Speaker 1: Lake chain. It is on Lost Lake. But Lost Lake
- 3:40Speaker 1: is very tiny, That's how it got cost. I think
- 3:43Speaker 1: it's good. So tiny, so it's so weird, Yeah, but
- 3:46Speaker 1: it was. It was lovely, man. It was the place
- 3:48Speaker 1: was nice and it was off season, so it was
- 3:51Speaker 1: like pretty cheap too, which was great. Doesn't always happen.
- 3:54Speaker 3: There, so yeah, no, yeah, it could spendy.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and rich folk up there. Yeah. So I think
- 4:02Speaker 1: we're gonna try and do that every year. Why not?
- 4:05Speaker 3: Oh? I got this so much fun.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I have a fun like you know, early Spring getaway action.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I love that.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it was lovely. It was very fun.
- 4:14Speaker 3: That's cool man. Yeah, you guys watch any movies when
- 4:17Speaker 3: you were up there?
- 4:18Speaker 1: No, but the day before I watched a movie.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Oh, yes, tell me.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I went with post. We went to the theater and
- 4:25Speaker 1: we saw the movie Normal, which I didn't know anything
- 4:30Speaker 1: about until we got there basically, and I was watching it.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Other than Bob Odenkirk was in this. He was like
- 4:39Speaker 1: the sort of main driver that I had seen. But
- 4:44Speaker 1: this is an action crime thriller is what they call
- 4:48Speaker 1: it on IMDb. I think that's fair. Mostly an action movie.
- 4:51Speaker 1: It is bonkers, like it is a crazy silly It's
- 4:57Speaker 1: not silly, ha, It's no, it is. It's a very
- 5:03Speaker 1: silly movie in that it doesn't take itself too seriously,
- 5:06Speaker 1: you know what I mean? So It is action packed.
- 5:08Speaker 1: It is gory. There's like violence and stuff, but it's
- 5:12Speaker 1: not like.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Kind of like Him and Nobody.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yes, very similar vibe, more of a similar vibe to
- 5:17Speaker 1: Nobody Too, I would say than the first Nobody. I
- 5:20Speaker 1: think the first one was slightly darker in my brain anyway.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Well, Nobody Too is really dark as well, but it's
- 5:26Speaker 3: more true, cheeky dark.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely that same ish vibe, but even
- 5:34Speaker 1: like a little bit more absurd if you can believe
- 5:36Speaker 1: that it is surprising. Actually it's pretty wild.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I have Nobody turns into like home alone at a carnival.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Yes, so maybe equally absurd is maybe the right way
- 5:49Speaker 1: to say it. We had a great time though. We
- 5:51Speaker 1: were laughing away in the theater. We were giggling with
- 5:54Speaker 1: It was really fun. I liked it. If you like
- 5:57Speaker 1: that kind of movie, it's it's a fun one to
- 5:59Speaker 1: go check out.
- 6:01Speaker 3: I want to.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think you'll enjoy it for sure.
- 6:04Speaker 3: One of these bad weather days, I'm going to go
- 6:05Speaker 3: and check it out.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, dude, hell yeah, I love that. How about you, though,
- 6:09Speaker 1: what have you been watching?
- 6:11Speaker 3: We had a movie night with the whole family and
- 6:14Speaker 3: Kelsey and I made the kids watch one that we
- 6:16Speaker 3: loved as kids and one that we did an episode
- 6:19Speaker 3: on a long time ago, Steven Spielberg's Hook.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Amazing you guys watched Hook?
- 6:28Speaker 3: We did? It was a blast. Did we get the
- 6:30Speaker 3: aunt over for this?
- 6:32Speaker 1: Like? Was this approved?
- 6:33Speaker 3: We didn't. So she is currently she's rocking out Disney.
- 6:38Speaker 3: So like, my kids are super jealous of that.
- 6:41Speaker 1: So they were like, we're going to get back at
- 6:43Speaker 1: her and do something.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yes, they're very vindictive, but yeah, we had waited until
- 6:52Speaker 3: the kids were a little older because, as you know
- 6:55Speaker 3: from Hook, one of the kids is brutally murdered. If
- 6:58Speaker 3: we didn't want to traumatize too much.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And you'd be like, oh, we made it too and
- 7:03Speaker 1: then you're like.
- 7:04Speaker 3: No, right, yeah, because it's late. But thankfully in the
- 7:08Speaker 3: movie they really don't draw that out and it almost
- 7:11Speaker 3: immediately goes into the big fight between Pan and Hook. Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 3: so agreed. We kind of were able to get through
- 7:18Speaker 3: that a.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Little bit, at least a little bit Okay.
- 7:23Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean Hook, it's wonderful. This kid's a
- 7:27Speaker 3: lot harder as a parent. Yes, yeah, they loved it,
- 7:32Speaker 3: but especially just seeing how bad of a dad Robin
- 7:34Speaker 3: Williams is in the beginning. It's kind of tough to
- 7:37Speaker 3: watch that. But I love this movie. My kid's been
- 7:40Speaker 3: quoting thuds quotes the most, which I love, and I
- 7:46Speaker 3: always quoted his too. You know, he lost some good.
- 7:50Speaker 3: He lost some good. Charlie said, that's so much in
- 7:52Speaker 3: the last couple of days. So that's been so great.
- 7:55Speaker 1: That's wonderful.
- 7:56Speaker 3: But it was a blast. I hadn't seen it with
- 7:59Speaker 3: I mean, and I sat by myself when we were
- 8:01Speaker 3: about to do the episodes, but I hadn't seen it
- 8:03Speaker 3: with cals ever. That was our first time and.
- 8:05Speaker 1: That's been a We did that a while ago.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Right, oh yeah, that was like height of COVID. It
- 8:10Speaker 3: was okay, yeah, yeah, social distancing session, deep in.
- 8:14Speaker 1: The pandy love it look back, but it was fun.
- 8:18Speaker 3: That's not currently streaming anywhere. We had to rent it,
- 8:20Speaker 3: which is bummer.
- 8:21Speaker 1: But that's not a Disney movie. I guess.
- 8:24Speaker 3: I just presume that's I went to Disney, I searched it.
- 8:27Speaker 3: I wasn't on there.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I just presumed, Wow, I did too.
- 8:33Speaker 3: But speaking of Disney and other streaming platforms, what are
- 8:36Speaker 3: you streaming currently? So?
- 8:38Speaker 1: I streamed season four of Love on the spectrum as
- 8:42Speaker 1: I am want to do yes, how was it delightful?
- 8:47Speaker 1: There was a couple things that annoyed me this season.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Not any of the folks, mostly their families. One of
- 8:53Speaker 1: the dads was really annoying this year. I don't know
- 8:56Speaker 1: why it annoyed me so much, but I was just like, dude,
- 8:58Speaker 1: shut up, it's not about you, seriously, and he did
- 9:03Speaker 1: not get that at all.
- 9:05Speaker 3: You're not the main character.
- 9:07Speaker 1: It was interesting, but mostly it was super funny. And
- 9:10Speaker 1: can I tell you the funniest part about it was
- 9:14Speaker 1: there was this one guy and he was new. I
- 9:16Speaker 1: don't remember his name, that doesn't matter anyway. This young man,
- 9:22Speaker 1: he is new to the season and the guy's name
- 9:25Speaker 1: is Seeing, like C I A. N. Is the producer's
- 9:29Speaker 1: name who helps out with all this stuff. And he
- 9:33Speaker 1: must have gotten introduced to him to via email or
- 9:35Speaker 1: something because this young man, like so many times this season,
- 9:40Speaker 1: would go, oh, yeah, that that is true, Sean, thank
- 9:43Speaker 1: you for saying that, and then the producer would be like, oh,
- 9:46Speaker 1: it's Seeing actually, and like say it and every time,
- 9:50Speaker 1: God love him, this guy was just like, I am
- 9:53Speaker 1: so sorry, I did not mean to do that. But
- 9:55Speaker 1: then he would absolutely not remember the next time. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: they cracked me up that bit because they they must
- 10:02Speaker 1: have also thought it was a bit because they put
- 10:05Speaker 1: it in focused so many times in the edit and
- 10:07Speaker 1: it it made me laugh every single time, and I
- 10:10Speaker 1: was just like, I don't know if this is the
- 10:11Speaker 1: right spirit to watch this end, but I think that
- 10:14Speaker 1: is funny.
- 10:15Speaker 3: You know, it's amazing.
- 10:16Speaker 1: No one's hurt, everybody's having it. You know, it's no
- 10:18Speaker 1: big deal, but got it made me laugh.
- 10:20Speaker 3: It's their version of David Lindhagen, Yes.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Is in the movie, but very prescient, very prescient. Yes, yes,
- 10:28Speaker 1: but yeah, that that cracks me up. But yeah, overall,
- 10:31Speaker 1: just lovely seeing all these couples and it's it's kind
- 10:33Speaker 1: of fun. We're getting to a point where like these
- 10:37Speaker 1: cats that we've met over the years now are like
- 10:40Speaker 1: kind of making the next steps in their lives and stuff.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Like the couples that have met on the show or
- 10:46Speaker 1: you know, have been together for a while. It's really cool, man,
- 10:49Speaker 1: It's really fun. It's a it's a lovely show.
- 10:52Speaker 3: That everyone that I've ever heard watches these shows. Yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 3: completely love it and I still have not watched one.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I think you would really like it.
- 11:00Speaker 3: And now I'm buddies with the which I'm so jealous about.
- 11:03Speaker 1: He was not in this season. I don't believe that
- 11:06Speaker 1: I saw he wasn't, but yeah, and he's the best in.
- 11:11Speaker 3: The world, so love that.
- 11:13Speaker 1: But yeah, it's super super fun. I forget where that
- 11:15Speaker 1: is that a Hulu thing? I don't even remember.
- 11:18Speaker 3: I thought that was a Netflix thing.
- 11:19Speaker 1: It is a Netflix thing, You're right, yeah, right, Netflix,
- 11:23Speaker 1: So go check it out, even see on.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Their little right.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I was scrolling and I thought it was the top thing. Yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 3: and I saw a lot of people there on episode
- 11:34Speaker 3: episode one and just bawling.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Dude, so many boo, who's this season? I mean every
- 11:39Speaker 1: season really, because they'll just you know, they'll be like
- 11:42Speaker 1: the one guy is like, I just couldn't have done
- 11:45Speaker 1: this without you, mom, and you could just the parents,
- 11:47Speaker 1: you know, to all the work that they've put into
- 11:50Speaker 1: just trying to be parents in general and then wanting
- 11:53Speaker 1: their kiddos to be safe and happy, and it's just yeah,
- 11:56Speaker 1: it's just lovely. It's lovely. It's lovely, it's wonderful. But yeah,
- 12:00Speaker 1: so check it out. What have you been screaming?
- 12:04Speaker 5: Uh?
- 12:04Speaker 3: Something much darker?
- 12:05Speaker 1: Similar?
- 12:07Speaker 3: Similar at all?
- 12:08Speaker 1: Sorry, very weird.
- 12:10Speaker 3: I'm watching a very weird, dark, dark comedy mystery on
- 12:17Speaker 3: HBO Max called DTF Saint Louis.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I've heard some things about this, so I haven't checked
- 12:24Speaker 1: it out yet.
- 12:25Speaker 3: It is a great cast. We have Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini,
- 12:30Speaker 3: David Harbor, Richard Jenkins, Damn, and yeah, it's all over
- 12:37Speaker 3: the place. There's affairs, there's a murder mystery. We have
- 12:40Speaker 3: different family dynamics. It's named after a tender like app
- 12:44Speaker 3: in Saint Louis. I get it, yep, but I feel
- 12:51Speaker 3: like exactly right, you got it. You're all over it.
- 12:56Speaker 3: But I feel like all these actors are playing roles
- 12:59Speaker 3: they don't know really play, and that part is pretty fun,
- 13:04Speaker 3: especially David Harbor. David Harbor's stock is going to go
- 13:08Speaker 3: way up after this gig. He plays like the most
- 13:14Speaker 3: lovely human in this in this like really weird thing.
- 13:20Speaker 3: But he just he's like super sensitive and just like
- 13:24Speaker 3: you don't see him like that. He's usually pretty gruss.
- 13:28Speaker 3: So that's been really.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Fun, like light in this dark sky kind of yes,
- 13:34Speaker 1: like a good dude.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, it's it's okay, Like I don't know,
- 13:42Speaker 3: I don't know that I can be like, everybody, watch this,
- 13:45Speaker 3: I'm really enjoying it. I could see some people being like,
- 13:48Speaker 3: this is a weird tone. It's a weird vibe. A
- 13:54Speaker 3: lot of the dialogue feels very like it was written
- 13:57Speaker 3: word like, almost kind of.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Like a play and oh interesting, Okay, you know what
- 14:02Speaker 1: I mean? Yeah, totally just not very not that it's
- 14:06Speaker 1: not natural, but it's it's more like intentional than ye
- 14:10Speaker 1: somehow or something yea.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And they're really there are a few different phrases that
- 14:14Speaker 3: they're really yeah, yeah, very particular. Is that knna like
- 14:19Speaker 3: come back or something? Why are we doing that so much?
- 14:23Speaker 1: So?
- 14:23Speaker 3: I'm about halfway through it right now. It's there's only
- 14:26Speaker 3: seven episodes. They're all forty five minutes long, and I'm
- 14:32Speaker 3: interested to see where it goes. I'll come back and
- 14:35Speaker 3: let you know if I think it's it's worth watching.
- 14:37Speaker 1: I love it. And I'm sorry if you said where
- 14:40Speaker 1: was that one streaming?
- 14:42Speaker 3: It's on HBO Max.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Oh fun love, Yeah, yeah, very cool, it'll be fun.
- 14:48Speaker 1: What do you think should we do if you plug
- 14:49Speaker 1: our rounds? I think we should business as I was
- 14:53Speaker 1: on the Twitter machine, where we're at Avnendorsman with a z,
- 14:57Speaker 1: Facebook dot com slash the Avandorsman. We are available on Instagram, TikTok,
- 15:02Speaker 1: Blue Sky Threats. We're all over the place. Gang find
- 15:05Speaker 1: us at Avid Endorsement at all those spots. But if
- 15:07Speaker 1: you really want to hang out and be part of
- 15:09Speaker 1: the crew, there's about to go.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Patreon dot com slash the Avid Endorsement. It's a great
- 15:15Speaker 3: time on Patreon. We love our patrons. We give them
- 15:17Speaker 3: lots of perks, and one of those is getting a
- 15:19Speaker 3: shout out here. So we want to give a big
- 15:20Speaker 3: shout out to Marsha Grisiac, Mary Fox, Nanette Walkley, Johan Brostad,
- 15:25Speaker 3: deb Olk, Noel Flores, and Lorraine Lauch. You guys are wonderful.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Thanks for your patronage. Another perk that we like to
- 15:32Speaker 3: give our patrons is an extended version of every single
- 15:35Speaker 3: episode that we put out. So we'll do a top
- 15:38Speaker 3: five list that pertains to the movie that we're talking about.
- 15:42Speaker 3: And for this one, Buge, is that a fun one.
- 15:46Speaker 3: We're gonna do our top five references to other movies.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Yeah, this is gonna be interesting. I'm super curious to
- 15:55Speaker 1: see what you guys came up with about this Sea.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Like, I didn't do great coming up, Like I really
- 16:02Speaker 3: checked the Interne final listings, but I got a couple
- 16:06Speaker 3: in there that I remembered and didn't see him on lists.
- 16:08Speaker 3: So we'll we'll see, We'll see how it goes.
- 16:10Speaker 1: But our guest is gonna have some weird ones, being
- 16:12Speaker 1: that he is the king of the weirdest weird just references.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Deep cuts, Ye, he does quotes to movies that nobody's
- 16:22Speaker 3: ever quoted before. Even the people who write that movie
- 16:26Speaker 3: have never quoted that.
- 16:27Speaker 1: My favorite is he'll like look at you then like
- 16:29Speaker 1: did you get that one? You're like no, still, no,
- 16:32Speaker 1: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 16:34Speaker 3: It it's from Shawshank. I don't know. I've seen it
- 16:38Speaker 3: a thousand times. I've never like.
- 16:40Speaker 1: It's in the background. You can't the subtitles, don't get it,
- 16:43Speaker 1: but you can hear it if you turn it up
- 16:45Speaker 1: to fourteen on your Yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Right, he's so funny.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I love that. It'll be super super fun as we
- 16:53Speaker 1: continue to go for jozling here and we should probably
- 16:57Speaker 1: just get that young man in here now. It's not
- 17:01Speaker 1: been very long since we've had him now, which has yes,
- 17:06Speaker 1: but yeah, we're going to do a rom com. We're
- 17:08Speaker 1: going to do a Gosling movie. And he he answered
- 17:11Speaker 1: the call so willingly. Uh, he is crazy, he is
- 17:15Speaker 1: he is love and he is stupid. So let's give
- 17:17Speaker 1: it up for.
- 17:20Speaker 3: What's up, Nate?
- 17:21Speaker 4: Oh Hi, how are you hi? Guys? Good to see
- 17:25Speaker 4: you again.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Oh my god, this is so great. This is the
- 17:28Speaker 1: right tempo, this is the right frequency is this is.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Going to be the best one we've done yet.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I'm very excited and I'm very excited to have a
- 17:37Speaker 1: fellow rom com lover here.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, this is well. We don't even what
- 17:43Speaker 4: one is this?
- 17:45Speaker 1: We know this is crazy.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Back to the future.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Back to the future again? Have we as we have
- 17:53Speaker 1: to ask you every episode?
- 17:54Speaker 3: Now?
- 17:55Speaker 1: Have we previously recorded this movie we're about to talk
- 17:58Speaker 1: about with you?
- 18:00Speaker 4: I don't believe so, but I will be honest.
- 18:02Speaker 6: When I watched again last night, I did for a
- 18:05Speaker 6: brief moment, have that like flashback road?
- 18:08Speaker 4: Like did we did?
- 18:09Speaker 5: We?
- 18:10Speaker 1: Did?
- 18:10Speaker 3: We?
- 18:11Speaker 1: I don't.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Be wrong before Well it happens we haven't done this one.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Okay, great, now we're safe. Wonderful.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Did you see you again? Buddy?
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 18:25Speaker 6: Yes, it's great to say you guys, very good, very good.
- 18:29Speaker 6: Spring is hopefully here finally, like we're what our fourth spring?
- 18:35Speaker 1: It's been a weird one, well spring, We're back though, Yeah,
- 18:39Speaker 1: so I think again that's a good ship.
- 18:43Speaker 4: I like it kind of like when you're talking to me.
- 18:47Speaker 6: Sorry, sorry, yeah, no, it's been great, Uh, staying busy,
- 18:54Speaker 6: just doing all.
- 18:55Speaker 3: These things, doing the thing, doing the thing.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I love it.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Well.
- 19:01Speaker 1: We're currently going gaga for gossling, and I think we
- 19:05Speaker 1: should have no more ado at all. I think we
- 19:07Speaker 1: should get right into it. What do you guys think?
- 19:08Speaker 3: Should we get.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Started with a rough synopsis?
- 19:12Speaker 4: Sure, let's just dive in.
- 19:13Speaker 3: At the deep end, Cal Weaver is living the American dream.
- 19:17Speaker 3: He has a good job, a beautiful house, great children,
- 19:20Speaker 3: and a beautiful wife named Emily. Cal seemingly perfect life unravels, however,
- 19:26Speaker 3: when he learns that Emily has been unfaithful and want
- 19:29Speaker 3: to do the worst over forty and suddenly single, Cal
- 19:33Speaker 3: is adrift in the fickle world of dating. Enter Jacob Palmer,
- 19:39Speaker 3: a self styled player who takes Cal under his wing
- 19:44Speaker 3: and teaches him how to be a hit with the ladies.
- 19:49Speaker 1: We got some folio work there. I liked that that
- 19:51Speaker 1: was a.
- 19:52Speaker 6: Wing that was clearly written in twenty eleven, because I'm
- 19:56Speaker 6: pretty sure I haven't heard anybody be called a player.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Come on, hey, it's true.
- 20:01Speaker 1: It's true. Rob is a player.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Don't hate the player, hate the game. Hey, that's what
- 20:05Speaker 3: I've always said.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Yes, I've heard him say it.
- 20:08Speaker 3: I've always said it. We did it, We really did it.
- 20:15Speaker 1: We both went to the same spot. Let's go to
- 20:17Speaker 1: Rotten Tomatoes and hear what they have to say. Critics
- 20:19Speaker 1: have this coming in at a pretty solid eighty percent a R.
- 20:23Speaker 1: That is good.
- 20:25Speaker 3: It is really good.
- 20:26Speaker 1: It's solid, and audience members just just a smitch behind
- 20:30Speaker 1: that at seventy eight percent.
- 20:31Speaker 3: That makes zero sense.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I don't understand why that's less. I also thought it
- 20:35Speaker 1: would have been higher if I would have guessed, like, yeah,
- 20:38Speaker 1: I would have guessed, it would have been like five
- 20:40Speaker 1: to ten points off the critics, just to add it
- 20:43Speaker 1: on to the audience. Yeah, that's very strangely interesting. But
- 20:48Speaker 1: what's the most important is what we think. Let's get
- 20:51Speaker 1: in with our hot take.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Hot take.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Oh that's a hot take. That's a hot take.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I never think about it before we start. David Linn
- 21:04Speaker 1: Togan is not hot enough to break up this beautiful marriage.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, man, that was tough.
- 21:15Speaker 1: What do you think you think he is hot enough?
- 21:18Speaker 4: I mean it's Kevin Bacon.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I mean right, that's a sizzling hot bacon. You're right
- 21:22Speaker 1: as he is. I saved it, saved it, You saved it.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 21:27Speaker 4: No, that's a good hot take nothing.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's all I got. I'll go first. I love
- 21:34Speaker 1: this movie. I have seen it, I don't know, at
- 21:38Speaker 1: least a dozen times over the years.
- 21:40Speaker 3: I think it's that's twelve.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, unless we're a baker and then it's thirteen
- 21:45Speaker 1: because we don't count good. I just have always loved
- 21:51Speaker 1: this movie. I think it's super fun. I first of all,
- 21:54Speaker 1: I think the the like just the regular story parts
- 21:58Speaker 1: are all there, right, like a nice couple that you're
- 22:02Speaker 1: still rooting for both of them despite some indiscretions. There
- 22:07Speaker 1: is conflict. There is like, you know, the sort of
- 22:11Speaker 1: like let me take you under my oweing as we
- 22:13Speaker 1: said earlier, stuff going on. H there's the twist that
- 22:18Speaker 1: I really love in this movie that I think is
- 22:20Speaker 1: super super fun. I absolutely did not see it coming
- 22:24Speaker 1: the first time, one hundred percent and every time since
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm always just like, yeah, they really just did a
- 22:29Speaker 1: good job with this narratively, and yeah, I just think
- 22:33Speaker 1: this movie is super fun. It's lovely. It's everything I
- 22:37Speaker 1: love about rom coms right Like, it's there's people making
- 22:41Speaker 1: bad choices and good choices and overcoming previous bad choices
- 22:45Speaker 1: and just just having a nice time. Upon this rewatch,
- 22:50Speaker 1: I was surprised they sprinkle in more hints than I
- 22:54Speaker 1: remembered that Hannah is Nana, like they you know, they
- 23:00Speaker 1: they'll do like just some they'll say like parts of
- 23:03Speaker 1: her name at various points and reference that they were
- 23:06Speaker 1: very young when they had her, and you know, stuff
- 23:08Speaker 1: like that. Also the mom and the daughter both being redheads,
- 23:12Speaker 1: like that maybe could have been a clue had you
- 23:15Speaker 1: been thinking that way. But yeah, I just this movie
- 23:19Speaker 1: is super, super fun. There's great actors in it doing
- 23:23Speaker 1: some just great comedy stuff. It's not you know, it
- 23:27Speaker 1: doesn't age great from like a misogyny kind of standpoint,
- 23:32Speaker 1: but also it's sort of saying these things are wrong.
- 23:35Speaker 1: So it's not the worst take we've ever seen, you know,
- 23:39Speaker 1: from a comedy sure, And they're not like usually when
- 23:43Speaker 1: they're making fun of things, they're making fun of the
- 23:46Speaker 1: characters themselves, not like you know, the other people that
- 23:49Speaker 1: are you know, caught in their wake. But I just
- 23:52Speaker 1: think it holds up remarkably well. I think it's super
- 23:54Speaker 1: super fun. I love that they both find happiness not
- 23:57Speaker 1: by being slick or you know, like manufactured, but just
- 24:01Speaker 1: by being honest and like dealing with their stuff and
- 24:04Speaker 1: you know, working it out with their people. So yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 1: I don't know, just really really love this movie. Have
- 24:12Speaker 1: a great time. I think my hottest take is the
- 24:15Speaker 1: writer of this film, Dan Fogelman, has wrote two of
- 24:20Speaker 1: my favorite movies of all time. I think this one, well,
- 24:25Speaker 1: maybe they're just two of my favorite movies. Let's not
- 24:27Speaker 1: get crazy this one crazy stupid Love and then Tangled,
- 24:30Speaker 1: which I also dearly love. So yep, thanks Dan Fogelman,
- 24:34Speaker 1: you're killing it. But he also did Guilt Trip in
- 24:36Speaker 1: Las Vegas, which I think. Both of those are also
- 24:38Speaker 1: really good too and enjoyable so well.
- 24:42Speaker 3: And it's also in my hot take what he wrote.
- 24:44Speaker 3: But he created This is Us and now he also
- 24:49Speaker 3: created Paradise, which I have been loving.
- 24:52Speaker 1: That's right, miss. I haven't seen This is Us, which
- 24:55Speaker 1: I probably should.
- 24:57Speaker 3: I haven't seen it either, but I know we write
- 24:59Speaker 3: about Rally just cries.
- 25:01Speaker 4: And hughs bugs.
- 25:05Speaker 6: We I watched a little bit of it with that
- 25:07Speaker 6: because she was watching it. I was like, I gotta
- 25:10Speaker 6: watch this whole thing.
- 25:12Speaker 4: She was already in. She was she had watched whatever
- 25:16Speaker 4: how many seasons.
- 25:17Speaker 6: So I saw like two or three episodes and I
- 25:18Speaker 6: was like, oh, man, uh, this feels like one I
- 25:22Speaker 6: would really dig, and I think you would. You and
- 25:24Speaker 6: I have pretty similar dispositions when it comes to that
- 25:28Speaker 6: kind of stuff.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Love that, Oh.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, that's my hot take, hot ramblin take. But this
- 25:37Speaker 3: movie was so much fun. I've been a big fan
- 25:39Speaker 3: of it since it came out, but I have not
- 25:41Speaker 3: seen it in quite a while, so I had a
- 25:44Speaker 3: very very fun time rewatching it. It's directed by Glenn
- 25:48Speaker 3: Ficara and John Riqua. They also wrote and directed the
- 25:52Speaker 3: movie Focus, which I really enjoyed. Nice love that, yep,
- 25:57Speaker 3: And like you said, it's written by Dan Fogerman. He's
- 25:59Speaker 3: done a bunch of cool stuff, and I thought the
- 26:02Speaker 3: writing in this was so much fun, not just the dialogue,
- 26:05Speaker 3: which there is some great dialogue, but how they set
- 26:08Speaker 3: up some of these awkward moments with cal unknowingly hooking
- 26:13Speaker 3: up with his son's English teacher that's revealed later. Uh,
- 26:17Speaker 3: and then everything that leads up to that chaotic yard
- 26:21Speaker 3: confrontation was just incredible. Yeah. Like you said, the cast
- 26:25Speaker 3: is super stacked. The chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma
- 26:29Speaker 3: Stone is incredible. Yeah, Ryan Gosling could have chemistry with
- 26:35Speaker 3: with a rock or a stone. You should. But yeah,
- 26:45Speaker 3: I think this film is a good reminder to UH
- 26:48Speaker 3: to not get complacent. You might have everything you you
- 26:51Speaker 3: hoped for, but if you don't keep making an effort,
- 26:54Speaker 3: you could lose it. So yeah, that's a good reminder.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I don't have anything a super hot take, Yeah, one
- 27:02Speaker 3: kind of hot take. I just I hope the writers
- 27:06Speaker 3: uh had someone that they hated who bullied them or
- 27:09Speaker 3: broke up a relationship and used their real name David
- 27:12Speaker 3: Lindhagen because it felt like they said his name fifty times.
- 27:17Speaker 1: This is fun to say, let's say it all the.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Time, all the time. But wouldn't that just be such
- 27:22Speaker 3: great revenge to like, oh my gosh, a tool bag
- 27:26Speaker 3: you know of the movie, your arch nemesis, and then
- 27:30Speaker 3: just keep reminding everyone his name over and over.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I just think that would be brilliant it's wonderful. I
- 27:35Speaker 1: like that a lot. That was my own hot take bell.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Wow, that's impressive.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Hey, what do you get?
- 27:43Speaker 4: Horrible movie? I didn't like it.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Oh gosh, don't you dare hot take?
- 27:48Speaker 4: Gosh gosh. No.
- 27:51Speaker 6: No, this is one of my favorites in the more
- 27:55Speaker 6: modern era, even though it's fifteen years old now, which makes.
- 27:58Speaker 3: It fifteenth anniversary. I don't think we mentioned that.
- 28:01Speaker 1: I good call.
- 28:03Speaker 6: But my roommate Todd, who I roomed with through most
- 28:07Speaker 6: of my twenties. Shout out to Todd BFFs. Actually, he
- 28:13Speaker 6: just texted me this morning. He is officially retiring from
- 28:16Speaker 6: the military after he's hit his twenty years, which makes
- 28:19Speaker 6: me very excited because with everything going on that modals
- 28:24Speaker 6: he will not be up for any more to play.
- 28:27Speaker 3: So that's incredible. Did he ever marry anybody named Margo?
- 28:30Speaker 3: By a chance?
- 28:31Speaker 4: He did not?
- 28:33Speaker 3: Okay, it just makes me think whenever I hear the
- 28:34Speaker 3: name Todd, I think of Todd and Margo from Christmas Vacation.
- 28:38Speaker 6: No he didn't, but that is a That is one
- 28:41Speaker 6: we used to watch a lot. But he also bugs
- 28:44Speaker 6: very similar to us, very loves rom coms, like that
- 28:48Speaker 6: kind of stuff. So he actually bought this on DVD
- 28:51Speaker 6: when we lived together in man Cato, and yeah, we
- 28:56Speaker 6: this is like one of the go tos for us.
- 29:00Speaker 6: So just fell in love with it because it's such
- 29:02Speaker 6: good writing. And they really did a good job of
- 29:06Speaker 6: making storylines seem independent, yes, and then come together in
- 29:12Speaker 6: a very I don't want to say unique, because other
- 29:14Speaker 6: movies do it, but they did it very very well
- 29:17Speaker 6: where you're not expecting stuff, so it kind of keeps
- 29:23Speaker 6: you engage the whole time. And this is the hot take.
- 29:27Speaker 4: And I probably shouldn't even say this out.
- 29:29Speaker 6: Loud say it, but it's a thought that crossed my head.
- 29:33Speaker 6: It is incredibly difficult to write and portray a minor
- 29:41Speaker 6: being in love with an adult. But I would say
- 29:46Speaker 6: that this movie towed the line and made it appropriate
- 29:51Speaker 6: and funny and didn't cross any lines. Yeah, not at all, like,
- 29:55Speaker 6: but they did it in a way where it could
- 29:58Speaker 6: have gone like it could have been a very nineties
- 30:01Speaker 6: like American Pie type, which apparently the gen Z is
- 30:08Speaker 6: not a huge fan.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Of because it's not great. It makes sense, does podcast
- 30:15Speaker 1: for Naked Body across the Internet without her content with zero? Yes?
- 30:20Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean Stiffler's are like all the all the things,
- 30:25Speaker 6: but this one is very like I feel like there
- 30:26Speaker 6: were no Yeah, it aged well, yeah, like.
- 30:29Speaker 4: They did everything. It's funny.
- 30:31Speaker 6: There's some kind of taboo subject matter, but they did
- 30:35Speaker 6: it in a way that like is pretty wholesome. And yeah,
- 30:40Speaker 6: it didn't like make it so I can't watch it anymore.
- 30:44Speaker 1: It's super important that he didn't know anything about it.
- 30:47Speaker 3: You know, he was no people have crushes on people.
- 30:52Speaker 6: Yeah, like, yeah, it's only Yeah, he reacted appropriately.
- 30:57Speaker 4: She reacted appropriately.
- 30:59Speaker 6: Like they all did what normal human beings.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like American Beauty.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I still haven't seen that.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I haven't either.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Awkward. Well, I mean you don't need to anymore.
- 31:17Speaker 6: Yeah, put it on my list for watching it tonight.
- 31:20Speaker 6: Oh right, but yeah, that's my hot take.
- 31:23Speaker 3: It's a hot take, buddy, really hot take. Well, I
- 31:26Speaker 3: think we should move on to the next segment. Let's
- 31:29Speaker 3: go and pick our favorite acting performance head. Let's choose
- 31:32Speaker 3: the dude the dude.
- 31:35Speaker 7: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
- 31:38Speaker 7: know that, or his dude or duder or you know,
- 31:44Speaker 7: el dudo reno. If you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 31:47Speaker 1: We got for this one.
- 31:48Speaker 6: Nay, this is really tough. It's such a star sud cast.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I feel like it was kind of a coin flip.
- 31:55Speaker 3: I feel like it's between two for me.
- 31:57Speaker 4: Well, and I think that's I think I'm going to
- 31:59Speaker 4: pay one of those two.
- 32:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with Ryan Gosling.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Oh, he's goga for good.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I like him.
- 32:09Speaker 6: So I made a Jerry Rhodes mean back in the
- 32:12Speaker 6: day when we were trying to promote the band that
- 32:14Speaker 6: literally just said my mom said, I looks like Ryan said,
- 32:18Speaker 6: I look like Ryan Gosling.
- 32:19Speaker 4: You should come to our show.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Amazing, that's great.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Is that your doppelganger? Is that your celebrity doppleganger? Ryan Gosling?
- 32:28Speaker 4: No, we would be like very distant cousins back in the.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Like sunshine days.
- 32:33Speaker 6: Maybe yeah, sunshine you know, yeah, maybe in my ear
- 32:37Speaker 6: my youth.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Yeah cool.
- 32:41Speaker 4: Okay, but he has way better abs than me, so
- 32:46Speaker 4: than anyone. Really, you're supposed to say, no, he doesn't know.
- 32:49Speaker 1: No, No, I haven't been invited to look at your
- 32:52Speaker 1: abs in weeks. I don't know.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Well, I don't know.
- 32:56Speaker 4: I'll send you some photos.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Yes, No, he and this.
- 33:04Speaker 6: I probably would pick him now because Steve Carell is finn.
- 33:07Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, he's done up and down. He's a
- 33:10Speaker 6: phenomenal actor.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Yep.
- 33:13Speaker 4: And I'm probably picking.
- 33:14Speaker 6: Ryan Gosling now in retrospect because I know all of
- 33:19Speaker 6: the other things that he has done, and he really
- 33:23Speaker 6: is just such a diverse He's funny, real, He's like
- 33:27Speaker 6: he can be serious, he can do all of the
- 33:30Speaker 6: things and still be that good looking. Like it doesn't distract,
- 33:35Speaker 6: it only adds. So yeah, I'm gonna have to go
- 33:39Speaker 6: with Ryan Gosling on this one. He just nailed the
- 33:42Speaker 6: douchebag but sensitive, Like he just encompassed that character and
- 33:47Speaker 6: made me.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Love Yeah, I really get it, dude. He is a
- 33:55Speaker 3: charming sob like just so and witty and ch like
- 34:01Speaker 3: it's just it's fun to watch him be that guy.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:05Speaker 6: I wonder how much of that was ad lib because
- 34:08Speaker 6: there are so many quick comments that he just nails,
- 34:13Speaker 6: like the timing, the context, and he just rolls off
- 34:16Speaker 6: of it. Like there's in the first scene when he's
- 34:19Speaker 6: hitting on Emma Stone, he uses a few lines that
- 34:24Speaker 6: just fall flat, but he nails the falling flat. Yeah,
- 34:27Speaker 6: Like he just kind of rolls over him and keeps going,
- 34:30Speaker 6: which most people would be like, I'm done.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's a great one, dude, very good, very good. Yeah,
- 34:40Speaker 3: he was my runner up. I went with Steve Correll
- 34:44Speaker 3: as cal and I kind of felt like he just
- 34:47Speaker 3: had he had the most to do with his character
- 34:50Speaker 3: arc in this he goes from being a guy who's
- 34:53Speaker 3: just gobsmacked with news of his wife's in fidelity and
- 34:58Speaker 3: is ready to just kind of give up up. Yeah
- 35:00Speaker 3: and yes, then he becomes a ladies man and realizes
- 35:07Speaker 3: he needs to fight to be with the woman he
- 35:08Speaker 3: loves and all the while being hilarious and had some
- 35:14Speaker 3: pretty touching dramatic parts as well. And I just felt
- 35:18Speaker 3: like he had the most to do. But I mean,
- 35:20Speaker 3: you're not wrong with Ryan Gosling either. It's like I said,
- 35:24Speaker 3: it was pretty much a coin film for me.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Very tough.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I was between those two guys as well,
- 35:30Speaker 1: and I ended up going with Steve Carrell as well.
- 35:32Speaker 4: Rob, Yeah, only because I'm friends anymore.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I'm kind of with you that his character art goes
- 35:41Speaker 1: a little bit farther, and honestly, he goes there a
- 35:44Speaker 1: couple of times a little bit farther, So that's ultimately
- 35:48Speaker 1: why I gave it to him. He also is he
- 35:51Speaker 1: was really good in this at playing depressed while also
- 35:54Speaker 1: not making it a total bummer either, you know what
- 35:57Speaker 1: I mean, and like still good divorced. What's that He's
- 36:03Speaker 1: just getting divorced.
- 36:03Speaker 3: It's not cancer cancer.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Oh, don't worry everybody. No, it's just my relationships so funny.
- 36:12Speaker 1: It's like dead pan stuff. He's so good at that.
- 36:16Speaker 1: But yeah, I just I think Carol just did did
- 36:19Speaker 1: a masterful job. And then you know, we'll talk about
- 36:23Speaker 1: all the scenes. But I feel like there's one part.
- 36:25Speaker 1: It's after the parent teacher conference when he's like, and
- 36:29Speaker 1: now I've slept with nine women or whatever, and he
- 36:32Speaker 1: just goes, oh my god, and he it just felt
- 36:35Speaker 1: like he was in real time being like, oh my god,
- 36:38Speaker 1: this isn't who I want to be, Like, this isn't
- 36:40Speaker 1: what I want to do. And that felt really real
- 36:43Speaker 1: to me and great.
- 36:44Speaker 4: I like that he has some great moments like that.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Yes, for sure, for sure. Yeah he's so good, dude.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Have you seen Dan in real life?
- 36:54Speaker 1: Yes? Absolutely?
- 36:56Speaker 6: God that that was another one that I think was
- 37:03Speaker 6: slightly before this one, but Todd loved.
- 37:07Speaker 1: And it's a good question.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a similar character arc.
- 37:12Speaker 3: I think that was one of the first times I
- 37:13Speaker 3: ever saw Emily Blunt. She was pig faced Draper.
- 37:19Speaker 1: That was the character name, to be clear, Yes, yes, yeah,
- 37:25Speaker 1: that was two thousand and seven, so that was a
- 37:26Speaker 1: couple of years before this.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that also has a start stud cast. Dane Cook
- 37:31Speaker 4: was in them.
- 37:31Speaker 6: But anyway, yeah, sorry, Steve Carrell, and that like really
- 37:36Speaker 6: like a similar character arc. And just he is such
- 37:41Speaker 6: a strong actor. I can be serious but funny at
- 37:44Speaker 6: the same time, which is a tough one to balance,
- 37:48Speaker 6: and he.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Does a very good job. Well, I think we should
- 37:52Speaker 3: talk about this super stat cast. Yeah, and let's let's
- 37:56Speaker 3: choose one of the supporting roles. Let's pick the Tuccia.
- 38:01Speaker 3: What do you got, Nate this one?
- 38:03Speaker 4: Oh man, so many to choose from so many, I'm
- 38:09Speaker 4: gonna I'm going to go a little off the beaten path.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Love.
- 38:17Speaker 1: I love that, love it.
- 38:18Speaker 6: Because there I was like, I do I choose Emma Stone?
- 38:22Speaker 6: I was like, not right, like because she's so strong
- 38:25Speaker 6: in this sorong, But I'm gonna go with Marissa Toome.
- 38:30Speaker 6: She was my oh my gosh. First off, when I
- 38:35Speaker 6: saw this movie, I just fell in love with her.
- 38:38Speaker 6: I was like, oh my gosh, she is fantastic. And
- 38:41Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure I had seen a few other of
- 38:43Speaker 6: her movies too, because I recognized her when this came out.
- 38:46Speaker 4: But I remember just being like, oh my gosh, I'm
- 38:49Speaker 4: so in love with you.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Yeah, did you ever see the movie What Women Want?
- 38:53Speaker 3: Because she plays pretty much the exact same role.
- 38:57Speaker 4: Really I did. It's spend a lot of time.
- 39:00Speaker 3: So it's pretty much the same bit where she hooks
- 39:05Speaker 3: up with the main character and is hoping for something
- 39:10Speaker 3: more and it doesn't go anywhere, and it's very similar
- 39:14Speaker 3: in that interesting regard.
- 39:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I just her reaction when they're sitting in the
- 39:23Speaker 6: conference together and Juliano is trying to her reaction is
- 39:29Speaker 6: like one of the greatest reactions on film.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Is just like she's so mad.
- 39:36Speaker 4: She is so mad, and you can tell she's trying
- 39:40Speaker 4: to hold it back. She's also like.
- 39:45Speaker 1: It that.
- 39:46Speaker 6: I mean, there's so many great scenes in this movie,
- 39:51Speaker 6: but that one in particular with her, Like I literally
- 39:55Speaker 6: wrote a note about that because when she goes on
- 39:59Speaker 6: the tangent about like well your son said ask, like, hey,
- 40:05Speaker 6: it's for ask, and it just turns it right back
- 40:08Speaker 6: on uh cal Weaver, and it's like like just talking
- 40:15Speaker 6: directly to him but making a kind of vague so Emily.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Is just like what I'm trying to catch up here?
- 40:22Speaker 1: Like what miss, how do you know each other? Like that?
- 40:28Speaker 3: Just this isn't about what's his name was?
- 40:30Speaker 1: Robbie?
- 40:31Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Robbie, Robbie.
- 40:33Speaker 6: Just it was masterfully written and executed perfectly, and I like,
- 40:40Speaker 6: just that reaction scene alone made me I like giggled
- 40:44Speaker 6: out loud for real, because.
- 40:48Speaker 1: She has been beautiful forever. I die because I assume
- 40:54Speaker 1: like I would.
- 40:55Speaker 3: Had a crush on her since my cousin Vinny gorgeous.
- 41:00Speaker 1: It's amazing, yes.
- 41:02Speaker 4: So gorgeous.
- 41:02Speaker 6: Well, and to this this is a stacked cast, Like
- 41:05Speaker 6: even Julian Moore, I'm like, oh, you're so pretty.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Julian. Anymore, I have a hard time with
- 41:13Speaker 3: this just because I don't.
- 41:14Speaker 4: I just hate that she redheads like that.
- 41:17Speaker 3: No, that she that she ended things like that and
- 41:22Speaker 3: went straight to an affair, And it's that's always hard
- 41:25Speaker 3: for me. She was, She's undeniably an incredible actress. I
- 41:32Speaker 3: just didn't care for that character arc at all.
- 41:35Speaker 6: But you know, her character is probably my least favorite
- 41:40Speaker 6: out of the characters, but just aesthetically man, they chose beautiful.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, like well and that works her mind because
- 41:49Speaker 3: I was going to pick on a stone another grateful
- 41:52Speaker 3: young lady. She's hilarious.
- 41:57Speaker 6: Okay, nice, there's no it's I checked my genie alergy
- 42:00Speaker 6: were not related.
- 42:01Speaker 4: So very disappointed about that.
- 42:03Speaker 3: I've never thought about the yes stone. But yeah, So
- 42:08Speaker 3: she's so funny. When she realizes her goober boyfriend isn't
- 42:12Speaker 3: proposing and she gets super drunk, makes the hotkey at
- 42:17Speaker 3: the bar, bringer back to his place. She's done playing
- 42:19Speaker 3: it safe. She wants an adventure and then can't really
- 42:23Speaker 3: do that either, and just like she's just a sweetheart. Yeah,
- 42:29Speaker 3: I loved.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Her in this.
- 42:30Speaker 3: I thought she was great.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Love that. It's a great pick. Her boyfriend, Josh Grobin,
- 42:34Speaker 1: by the ways, so funny and that's so funny. Much
- 42:37Speaker 1: to do, but he's so funny, and he's Hannah Banana.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Like so many things he's been in, he's been funny.
- 42:44Speaker 4: But he's very funny.
- 42:46Speaker 3: I feel like he kind of makes fun of himself
- 42:48Speaker 3: a lot. I mean, we love that absolutely. We love
- 42:51Speaker 3: the self deprecation, always have, even though this guy is
- 42:56Speaker 3: just clueless.
- 42:57Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, this one not as much.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Yeah, but fun, very fun.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Love that well, we said a bunch of the big
- 43:05Speaker 1: ones for sure, John Carrolynch. Our guy is a friend
- 43:10Speaker 1: of the pod end of the pod.
- 43:11Speaker 4: Oh yeah, you guys interviewed him, didn't you.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Yeah, sure did so nice And he makes the movie better,
- 43:16Speaker 3: really great. He always makes a movie better always.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Yeah, he's cominded John Carrolynch Award for sure.
- 43:25Speaker 3: I know we've said that.
- 43:26Speaker 6: Before, but yeah, who's you interviewed another guy that plays
- 43:31Speaker 6: similar roles. He was in a bunch of stuff in
- 43:33Speaker 6: the nineties. I had like a flat top. He's in
- 43:40Speaker 6: the same boat like I just when I see him.
- 43:43Speaker 4: Better.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Yeah, and then he got super famous on Brooklyn ninety nine. Yeah,
- 43:49Speaker 3: but but yeah John Carrolynch. And this was so great.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I love that he gets him like a farewell gift.
- 43:57Speaker 3: He's like my wife, sorry.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Like a white wine when he goes in, I can't remember.
- 44:07Speaker 3: Yeah, tell me we have to pick. I can't be
- 44:13Speaker 3: friending you anymore.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:18Speaker 3: She's been funny forever. She's done so many things.
- 44:22Speaker 6: Yeah, she's also I will say though, if I was,
- 44:28Speaker 6: if I was his character and I'm going into the
- 44:30Speaker 6: bar to tell my friend, like this is a thing, Like, okay, sorry, Bud,
- 44:33Speaker 6: I gotta choose who is ordering white wine to chug?
- 44:39Speaker 3: Yeah, like there is not Well, clearly he's not really
- 44:43Speaker 3: in that scene. I think that was kind of the point.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Her name is Beth Littleford.
- 44:49Speaker 1: She's fun She's really funny. Joe's kind of plays like
- 44:53Speaker 1: a bit of like a crazy, you know, like overbearing person.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I feel like, but she's real good at it.
- 45:01Speaker 3: I loved that Eliza Lapira as Liz Emma Stone's best friend.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Oh, yes, she was.
- 45:10Speaker 1: She was. That's a good point.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm a big fan. Why haven't we seen her
- 45:18Speaker 3: more looking because she's incredible. She was so funny in this.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Oh she was an inside out too.
- 45:28Speaker 3: There you go discussed twenty one.
- 45:33Speaker 1: I don't know a bunch of these she's been working though.
- 45:37Speaker 3: She's been working lots of like one episode and stuff. Yeah,
- 45:40Speaker 3: she should be killing it.
- 45:43Speaker 1: I totally agree with that.
- 45:44Speaker 3: That's a good I'm upset with that that she's not
- 45:47Speaker 3: so funny more stuff like this.
- 45:50Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, she was fantastic. There was not a week
- 45:53Speaker 6: There was not a week role in this movie.
- 45:56Speaker 3: Well, then you have huge names like Kevin Bacon in
- 45:59Speaker 3: a very small role, such a small role David David,
- 46:06Speaker 3: and I.
- 46:06Speaker 8: Love that they mispronounce it the whole that cop finishing
- 46:11Speaker 8: off of that cop, finishing that bit and being like
- 46:14Speaker 8: David Lindhagen Linn tugging.
- 46:20Speaker 3: Yeah, super small role and he just crushes it.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Yeah, go ahead.
- 46:26Speaker 6: I don't I don't know his I'd have to pull
- 46:29Speaker 6: it up and read it. Actually, but I feel like
- 46:32Speaker 6: Kevin Bigan hadn't been in a ton in a few
- 46:34Speaker 6: years prior to that, because I know he was super
- 46:43Speaker 6: because he had invested a bunch of Bernie made off.
- 46:46Speaker 6: He's he's on a podcast about all that and lost
- 46:50Speaker 6: like everything, like millions of dollars and has obviously rebuilt.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Like he's okay, but yeah, I get.
- 46:57Speaker 6: You, but he talks openly about it, and I'm wondering
- 47:00Speaker 6: if because he hadn't been anything up until, like I'm
- 47:05Speaker 6: sure he was not doing a ton of stuff and
- 47:07Speaker 6: then this. I don't I'm projecting here, but maybe this
- 47:11Speaker 6: is one of those things like yeah, I need to
- 47:13Speaker 6: get back into.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Like yeah, totally, or like I need to get my
- 47:17Speaker 1: health insurance for the year or whatever. Can you have
- 47:20Speaker 1: me come out for a couple of days or whatever.
- 47:22Speaker 3: He has an X Men first class directly before this.
- 47:25Speaker 6: Oh that one was maybe that was okay, right, yeah
- 47:31Speaker 6: I don't, I just because I mean this is three
- 47:33Speaker 6: years old. Have shot two years after that, so yeah,
- 47:38Speaker 6: I mean it. Who knows that speculation. But it was
- 47:41Speaker 6: a fascinating interview with him that I listened to pod.
- 47:46Speaker 4: But he openly talks.
- 47:47Speaker 6: About it, just how you know, he had invested a
- 47:50Speaker 6: ton and and then it was like yucky, Okay, this is.
- 47:58Speaker 1: That's wild. Yeah, did you guys notice one of the
- 48:02Speaker 1: gals in the montage was that Carolina wid Weirdra Wedra
- 48:08Speaker 1: who is in Pluribus. She's like the gal that talks
- 48:11Speaker 1: to the representative. Really, she was one of the gals
- 48:18Speaker 1: I like, had to go through the list. I was like,
- 48:20Speaker 1: I swear she was, and this was way better. Yeah.
- 48:26Speaker 1: I'd never seen her in anything else that I can remember, anyway.
- 48:28Speaker 3: But the one that blew me away was the little kid.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Their youngest daughter is Joey Kim. Yes, and she's she's bitch.
- 48:37Speaker 1: She's a big deal.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, I didn't remember her being in this.
- 48:41Speaker 4: I'll be honest.
- 48:42Speaker 6: That was the one character I didn't like it, and
- 48:47Speaker 6: it's supposed to be weird, but it just out of
- 48:51Speaker 6: everything that was happening, that felt very anciller, like it
- 48:55Speaker 6: was sure and yeah, I don't know that would and
- 49:00Speaker 6: not her acting performance or anything.
- 49:01Speaker 4: It just felt like the only character that I.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Was like, I didn't care about.
- 49:07Speaker 1: I still can't decide if I like the kid in
- 49:09Speaker 1: this Robbie. He's not bad. I don't mean now is
- 49:14Speaker 1: that I just am like, I don't know.
- 49:16Speaker 6: No, his character is very there are moments where you're
- 49:19Speaker 6: like yeah, but then there are moments where you're like, yeah, like.
- 49:22Speaker 3: No, what's happening a lot?
- 49:25Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot. He becomes like the exposition machine a
- 49:28Speaker 1: little bit at times too.
- 49:30Speaker 6: And yeah, And I guess if there was going to
- 49:34Speaker 6: be a real hot take, it would be that they
- 49:36Speaker 6: did push his character slightly harder in a few of
- 49:43Speaker 6: those little monologues than I think. Yeah, I think they
- 49:45Speaker 6: could have pulled him back just a smidge and still
- 49:48Speaker 6: gotten the point across that, like Steve Curl's learning from
- 49:51Speaker 6: his son. Yeah, but I do feel like, yeah, they
- 49:55Speaker 6: maybe just like one or two monologues.
- 49:58Speaker 4: Went a few sentences to and sure, But I mean
- 50:03Speaker 4: we're picking you know, yeah.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Hair shout out to Leo Tipton, who plays Jessica in this.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I thought they did a great job. They changed their name,
- 50:15Speaker 1: so I don't know if if it's a I don't
- 50:18Speaker 1: know what's happening there, but they're from Minnesota. I don't
- 50:20Speaker 1: know if you guys saw that. On the fun like
- 50:27Speaker 1: we said earlier, just does a great job of playing
- 50:30Speaker 1: you know, doing the the smitten thing and the like
- 50:34Speaker 1: also babysitter thing with some funny, like really really great acting.
- 50:39Speaker 1: I thought it was fun. I feel like I haven't
- 50:41Speaker 1: seen them in anything after that.
- 50:43Speaker 4: I feel like.
- 50:45Speaker 6: She played that teenager role so perfectly, just like on
- 50:51Speaker 6: the Nose. I just I remember being and like that age.
- 50:57Speaker 6: Granted it was early two thousands, so we didn't have
- 50:59Speaker 6: did cameras technicked pictures of ourselves, but thank god.
- 51:04Speaker 4: No, even just talking talking to girls and stuff like,
- 51:08Speaker 4: she nailed just how you how you would be?
- 51:10Speaker 6: Yes, yes, Like I remember talking to girls that from
- 51:16Speaker 6: church that you know, people had told me had a crush.
- 51:19Speaker 4: I'm like, yeah, okay whatever and then and then yeah,
- 51:25Speaker 4: just being like.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Sue, I'm suer in love with this person. Yeah, just
- 51:29Speaker 1: the infatuation is so spot on, like, she played it
- 51:34Speaker 1: very well.
- 51:34Speaker 4: I definitely could relate to her character.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Yeah, really great. Those were all the people I have though.
- 51:42Speaker 3: I mean, that's a lot of people people. Yeah. Well,
- 51:46Speaker 3: then let's talk about some of these, uh these favorite scenes.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Let's choose our favorite.
- 51:51Speaker 4: Oh gosh, and.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Let's pick the dingus angus is quite simple, really, dingus dingus.
- 51:59Speaker 1: I can talk about my dingas all night long. What
- 52:03Speaker 1: do you go? What's your favorite scenes?
- 52:04Speaker 3: Easy to me.
- 52:07Speaker 6: I mean I wanted to get creative with this, but
- 52:10Speaker 6: my favorite scene might be of all time.
- 52:16Speaker 1: No, that's a hot ta I like it.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:20Speaker 6: Is the way this movie was written and put together.
- 52:24Speaker 6: Everything culminates with that little weird fight scene, and that
- 52:28Speaker 6: might be one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history.
- 52:33Speaker 6: The way they made it come together. There's like four
- 52:36Speaker 6: storylines that come together, and then it does it so
- 52:39Speaker 6: well and it is so funny.
- 52:42Speaker 3: So good, like all crash into each other.
- 52:44Speaker 6: It's great when Ryan Goslin just turns with David lind Hayen,
- 52:49Speaker 6: hurt Lynn Hagens the ring off.
- 52:52Speaker 1: That up every single time David linn Talking takes the ring.
- 52:57Speaker 4: Okay, even though cal hates me right now.
- 53:00Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I'm in on this. I like it was
- 53:05Speaker 6: just the perfect culmination of so many things happening, and
- 53:09Speaker 6: I don't know if I've ever seen a culmination of
- 53:11Speaker 6: that many storylines coming together in one scene that flawlessly.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I love too that like Calum Jacob talk right
- 53:20Speaker 1: beforehand when they're buying the wine that they're bringing to
- 53:23Speaker 1: the house, and like, you know what I mean, just
- 53:25Speaker 1: like all these there's it's so funny. He's trying to
- 53:28Speaker 1: impress uh, what's what's the moms Emily. Yeah, but he's
- 53:36Speaker 1: trying to impress her and just be like I mean
- 53:37Speaker 1: maybe older sister, sure, but you know, like all that stuff.
- 53:41Speaker 1: But also this is happening and it's just it's just chaos,
- 53:45Speaker 1: which is so fun I love.
- 53:48Speaker 4: They all become an enemy.
- 53:50Speaker 3: It's so well.
- 53:51Speaker 4: I shouldn't say that, I guess Bernie.
- 53:56Speaker 3: Bernie comes in real.
- 53:58Speaker 6: With the the windmill over is.
- 54:03Speaker 1: We should have done improvised weapons. That would have been
- 54:06Speaker 1: a good draft.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Nice yeah, a windmill from but I do like it.
- 54:12Speaker 3: It's a good way. It's a good one.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so funny. And then like he's trying to
- 54:18Speaker 1: you know, I will also love always love about that
- 54:23Speaker 1: scene the uh like so the sun is like you're
- 54:28Speaker 1: in love with her, and then like Jessica says like,
- 54:32Speaker 1: oh it was the nude pictures. And then all the
- 54:34Speaker 1: adults are like Jessica, like, don't do that in such
- 54:39Speaker 1: a loving you know, They're like just like, no, don't do.
- 54:44Speaker 6: It was the most Minnesotan like to me, yeah, it's
- 54:49Speaker 6: just that Midwestern like.
- 54:53Speaker 1: No, no, but yeah, I love that well.
- 55:00Speaker 3: And then just the lineup of those four just are
- 55:04Speaker 3: all bruised and.
- 55:07Speaker 6: Dirty, and the cops like, who's David Lindhagen, Yeah talking.
- 55:14Speaker 3: That's a great shot, the four of them all.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that stuff.
- 55:19Speaker 3: That's that's the scene of the movie for sure. It's
- 55:21Speaker 3: so good, not even close.
- 55:23Speaker 4: It so good.
- 55:25Speaker 3: My runner up to that, you know, I love I
- 55:29Speaker 3: love a montage and just getting his makeover so so
- 55:34Speaker 3: good in him talking to women and it's it's just
- 55:38Speaker 3: so much fun.
- 55:39Speaker 1: When he takes out the the Belcrow wallet. The look
- 55:43Speaker 1: that Gosly gives look is so funny.
- 55:47Speaker 4: New wallet too, Just like he steps away and it's
- 55:51Speaker 4: just like.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Just utter disgust.
- 55:54Speaker 3: It's so good and they're like no, no, no, I
- 55:58Speaker 3: have jeans. I'm fine jeans.
- 56:00Speaker 1: Like you don't.
- 56:01Speaker 3: It's not yeah you have mom, but yeah, like just
- 56:05Speaker 3: like it's so good.
- 56:08Speaker 6: It's that montage has so many great lines and their
- 56:13Speaker 6: spot on it's like.
- 56:15Speaker 4: What happen your feet?
- 56:17Speaker 1: It was like, what do you mean?
- 56:18Speaker 4: What the four oh sevens?
- 56:22Speaker 6: Like and every dad on planet Earth from that age
- 56:26Speaker 6: range has that pair of shoes absolutely balances.
- 56:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Also love when he throws them and then he's like
- 56:32Speaker 1: you kind of hit something.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Yeah that was reckless.
- 56:37Speaker 6: That was reckless and it was yeah, so dirty, and
- 56:42Speaker 6: you didn't have shoes.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Then after that it had to get new shoes. Yeah. Yeah,
- 56:48Speaker 3: I love a montage you have for a runner up.
- 56:51Speaker 1: That the parent Teacher Conference.
- 56:54Speaker 3: That's my next one.
- 56:55Speaker 1: So funny, like it's so good, like when she opens
- 56:59Speaker 1: that door or and of course you know it's set
- 57:02Speaker 1: up by them like almost eye a little bit right
- 57:06Speaker 1: before you know.
- 57:06Speaker 4: And then they're like, get.
- 57:10Speaker 3: What in the hell? His his reaction is so perfect, dude,
- 57:18Speaker 3: that is.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Yes, because what is she saying before that? She's like okay,
- 57:24Speaker 1: mister and missus sweet, what in the hell?
- 57:28Speaker 3: So good?
- 57:29Speaker 1: So great?
- 57:30Speaker 3: Oh she's your wife?
- 57:32Speaker 1: No o, my god, Just like.
- 57:35Speaker 3: Is this happening and yeah, and you're like, oh, yeah,
- 57:38Speaker 3: she did say she was a teacher. Yeah, And they
- 57:42Speaker 3: even have her talking earlier, but they only show her
- 57:46Speaker 3: writing on the chalkboard and she.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Has the same bracelet and stuff on. That's one of
- 57:51Speaker 1: the pieces of trivia I read and I didn't. I
- 57:53Speaker 1: didn't pick up on that. And usually I'm pretty good
- 57:55Speaker 1: with the voices, but even having seen this, I never
- 57:59Speaker 1: really really you know, put that together. That was her
- 58:02Speaker 1: voice too, you know, so fun.
- 58:05Speaker 3: That was a great reveal.
- 58:06Speaker 1: That was so much fun, so so fun. Agreed, And
- 58:10Speaker 1: then I'll just give a shout out because I think
- 58:11Speaker 1: it's the cutest scene in it, not one of the
- 58:14Speaker 1: cuter scenes, but the the whole hookup, like Emma Stone
- 58:18Speaker 1: freaking out because they're not going to get engaged, getting wasted,
- 58:22Speaker 1: going and finding him taking him home. It's not my
- 58:26Speaker 1: favorite drink the game, that's not let's try this one.
- 58:29Speaker 1: He's just like, oh my god, I like that. But
- 58:35Speaker 1: and then like what's your move? And like the dirty
- 58:38Speaker 1: dancing thing, and then and then them like actually connecting
- 58:42Speaker 1: and you know, like having this love lovely little thing.
- 58:45Speaker 1: But I just think that's it's such a wonderful little.
- 58:50Speaker 3: Hard cut to her in the massage brilliant.
- 58:55Speaker 1: And then she's like I hate it.
- 58:56Speaker 3: He's like I know, yeah, but they're in like the
- 59:01Speaker 3: soft lighting and whatever, and then hard cut just just terrible,
- 59:10Speaker 3: which is like.
- 59:10Speaker 6: The most classic dude thing because if we were all like,
- 59:15Speaker 6: if I was in that guy's shoes and had a
- 59:17Speaker 6: bunch of money and it was his agent single, I.
- 59:20Speaker 4: Would have bought a massage here and it would have
- 59:22Speaker 4: sat in my garage.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Like he's like, I don't know what to do with
- 59:26Speaker 1: it now.
- 59:28Speaker 3: So good.
- 59:29Speaker 6: I don't know if this is the time, but I
- 59:31Speaker 6: would like to also give a shout out to I mean,
- 59:35Speaker 6: there's so many good scenes. But I again giggled out
- 59:40Speaker 6: loud when he first cal first meets Mercetoma's character and
- 59:50Speaker 6: he's trying to kind of woo her and is like great.
- 59:56Speaker 3: Really not going to tell me what you do?
- 59:59Speaker 1: And then he's like get her a drink and she's like,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: I'm sober, please leave and never come back.
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: That is that is the greatest, like the greatest response,
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: Please don't come back ever.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Yes, yes, he's striking out so hard. It's so fun.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: Yeah, great, I wish in my in my own life
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: when I was on.
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: The prowl for ladies, that anything would have ever turned
- 1:00:29Speaker 6: out like that, Like I would have never failed in
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: the beginning, and I would have been like.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: Just kept failing.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: Okay, this is just gonna get worse, but I guess
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: I'll keep talking.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: I'll see myself out.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Sorry, I have a good night.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Oh that's a great call. No scene is really fun.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: It was, but right before that when they first approach
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: her and like Jacob's trying to help, and then he's like,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: this is Jacob. He was just leaving and he's like,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: that's one way to treat people.
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: But okay, so good. The chemistry is great.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: It's wonderful.
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: So I think that's one of the best parts about
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: Ryan Gosling's character, and he plays it so well is
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: even though he's playing a kind of a player and
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: a dirt egg, he still has like decorum, right Like
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: it's still like I'm not I'm not I'm not trying
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: to be an asshole, right Like it's like a lawful.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: Neutral or something. Yeah, you know.
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: Yeah, And and that's why that little that lion lands
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: so good.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: That's one way to treat.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: And they're like actually friends at that point too, which
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: is also great. That's that's wonderful. It's wonderful. But those
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: were all the scenes I had. I think it's absolutely
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: that culmination scene though, yes, I mean dingis in the
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: backyard just like I intended it. Let's go to our
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: best quote. It's time to show me the Monday, show me.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: The money, show me.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: What do you got for quotes?
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: I mean most of my notes are just quotes.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: I love it, Like.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: I literally was.
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: Thinking about this as this line and been watching this.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: I'm just gonna start with. I mean, I love the
- 1:02:37Speaker 6: four oh seven scene. I don't like that one always
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: made me laugh so hard, which is funny because my
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: father in law has worn the same pair of shoes
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: and they're not the four oh sevens. They're the Nike
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: version of the four oh seven's nice, which they look
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: darn near identical. But I think I've gotten him a
- 1:02:56Speaker 6: pair for Christmas the last couple of years because I'm like,
- 1:02:59Speaker 6: and my mother in law's.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: Like, what, why why do you can't he get different? No,
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: he can't.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Found tissoes he'll be buried in them, Thank you, thank you.
- 1:03:12Speaker 6: I do love the the line are you a billionaire
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: owner of Apple computers. No, okay, in that case, you
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: have no right to wear New Balance sneakers ever.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: Yeah, it's uh.
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: I love the line it's your husband, not al Kada.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: So good.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, it's.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: What else I write down.
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: I do love the where she just calls basic she
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: in the presser or the conference, when she starts going
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: off of that hole.
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: That whole bit, oh so good.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: The one that she ends with as someone who allows
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: a woman to go downtown for forty five minutes because
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: he's is so good. She's just like you.
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: Yeah. I did love the will you take off your shirt? Seriously,
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: it's like your photo shot.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that was great. It's like straight from my regular life. Man,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I've heard that.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Yeah, if I had a nickel.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: It's a different kind of photoshot.
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: But yes, No, it was really hard for me to
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: pick one because literally, as I was laying there, like,
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: I just kept writing down line so great.
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: Yeah. I can't say enough about the writing in this movie.
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: It just was phenomenal.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: That was good.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: I loved. I don't know whether to help you or
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: ethanize you like that the skin under your eyes is
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: starting to look like Hugh Hefner's ball sack so funny.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: It's like, yes, it is is.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: It's starting to look like a.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Pulse that Liz who I loved in this Lisa Lapiro,
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: hey hawt guy from the bar who hit on you
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: is here. She's like, Liz, I'm studying. You should be
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: studying the ceiling of his bedroom is what you should
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: be studying. I'm eating a caramel apple in oh. And
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: then a guy comes up to her and she's just like,
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: in what world, honey, please turn around. No, She's like,
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: come on, take a break. It'll be good for you
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: to get out. And by get out, I mean have
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: hot guy from the bar knock you into his headboard
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: until you see God. And she's like, what is wrong
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: with you? It's like you should be studying the gentle
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: curve of his cop.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Okay, goodbye, Lie, such a good Oh.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: I love all that. What do you say, Subbukes just
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: we probably.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Should have said that first scene when they're at the
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: restaurant celebrating their anniversary or whatever they're doing. All right,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: let's just say it together on three one two three,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: I want a diverse Cremberlet so fun like terrible obviously,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: but so funny.
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: And they will act it.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: When he does the bit like the if you don't
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: stop talking, I'm going to get out of the car.
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: He just just rolls out, just out.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Of the car.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: Oh, that's such a good I'll sign anything you want.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Just please stop talking about it.
- 1:06:35Speaker 6: Oh, it's really wildly in the beginning, when he's in
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: the bar in the very first for the very first time,
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: just sitting there talking about how he's been cuckolded.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and just keep yes. You know what word isn't
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: used much anymore, cuckled. I'm a cuckold. That David lind
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Togen made me a cuckold out of me. I'm a
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: cuckold and I didn't even know about it. And that
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: is the definition of cuckoldom just drunk. You guys have
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: to bleep out cuckled. I don't think I don't think
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: so either.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: Do you guys bleep anything else?
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: We do, for the regular stuff we do.
- 1:07:17Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh well I'll not swear quite as well.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: You're fine, Oh, you're good. It's kind of funny that way.
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: Because people are guessing when.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: Jacob's like, I'm going to help you rediscover your manhood.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Do you have any idea where you may have lost it.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: He's like, strong, case could be made for nineteen eighty four.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: That's a great line, so specific.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Case could be made. Also when he's like, uh, your
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: wife cheated on me, because cheated on you, because you
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: lost sight of who you were as a man and
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: as a husband and probably as a lover, and then
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Steve Carell going, you're right, that's meaner, you're right, you're right.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: That's me crack me up so good. I love when
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: he's just like, oh my god, you miacked me. I
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: thought that was fun or honk, I think is what
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: it actually is. Also, I failed to say this earlier,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: but it's one of the funniest lines in this when
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Steve Carrell panics at the student teacher conference and just goes,
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: all right, all right, here's the deal. Here's the deal.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: She's an alcoholic. And he's just like, oh my god,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: like why did I do that? And it's just so
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: gunny is full panic mode at that point. Yeah, it's
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: so so funny. Yeah, so great, go ahead, And.
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: The dialogue between Emily and Robbie, what did you google?
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: Mom's crying in bed?
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, because you're a disgusting teenager.
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: Like that is such a mess.
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: It's such a great scene because, yeah, he googled what.
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: He thought. Yeah he's trying. He was trying real hard.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Went Kingdom the you know, the shortest distance between two points.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: I also loved at the end when cal is like
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: back just being sad. He asked her what time she
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: is and she's like two thirty in the afternoon, and
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: then he just goes two thirty would have been sufficient,
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: But thank you for the judgmental tone. Cocktail servant.
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: Like, yeah, definitely spitting it.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: Definitely spending this.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: After he gets the cocktail servant though, that really cracked
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: me up. Yeah that was fun. Yeah, yeah, did you
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: have any more? Rob ornate?
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: John carro Lynch, I had already said. I loved when
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: he came and gave him the He was like, she
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: told me I had to choose whatever, I can't be
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: friends with you anymore. I love that bet. But I
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: loved later on. Uh it's like, I don't like all
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: this sex talk in front of the k I DS
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: and these kids are in eighth grade.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: Yeah they're twenty five at this point.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: I can clearly spell. I loved that. Really funny but
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: just full dad mode. I enjoyed that very much.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: It was wonderful.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: No.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: I also loved I don't want your slutty money.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: All that bloody money, bloody money.
- 1:10:36Speaker 6: It's oh that they played that so perfect because from
- 1:10:39Speaker 6: her vantage point, she's like, yeah, it is slutty money.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: But from the mom's vantage when she's like, wait, I'm
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: just trying to pay you what, I'm trying to give
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: you money?
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: So funny.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: Also, I don't think we said maybe you guys did
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: say it, but just in case we didn't. After the
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: photoshop line when Emma Stone is just like is there
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: him lighting somewhere?
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: So funny and You're like, okay, you beautiful stop. Okay, Yeah,
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: that's a good funny.
- 1:11:11Speaker 6: That is a great scene when they're lying in bed
- 1:11:13Speaker 6: like and he's opening up and yeah, and then we'll
- 1:11:18Speaker 6: then we'll we'll bang.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, bang anymore I don't know.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and we're gonna bow yeah.
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it's great.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Those are all the ones I had though.
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: Well, then I think we should move on and we
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: should go to bugs boohoo, and so the crying game.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: I chose six booos in this I uh. The first
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: one is at I don't think you did it early on.
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: Maybe you did. But the first one that I recorded
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: was at the right before the teacher conference and he's like,
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: I shouldn't have jumped out of that car.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: I should have.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: Fought for you.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they're heaven there.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: Hard to heart. Then after the amazing reveal at the
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: conference and he says he's slept to nine people and
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: all that, and he's like, I was trying to move on,
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: but I don't want to. I thought that was Yeah.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: I had that one too, for sure.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: When cals in the yards secretly maintaining the lawn, which
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: that was a great bit. He has that that nightmare
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: of David Lindhagen, uh, you know, pruning the bushes and
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: you know, and so he goes over there late at night.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: I love that. But when he is back there doing
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: the lawn maintenance and Emily calls him for help with
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: the furnace and he is watching her and she's just
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: calling because.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: She wants to that scene in general, like what a love.
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: And he plays along to perfectly. Yeah that I'm never
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: gonna give you my approval. And he says, you're a
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: good dad.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Yeah that is that's brutal.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it's brutal. The speech in the gym that Cal does,
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: He's like, I've loved her every minute of every.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: Day, that whole Yeah, I met my soulmate when I
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: was fifteen. Although I feel like it could be argued
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: that we don't need that part of the movie, but yeah, yeah,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: it's still fun.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: And then when she says, I'm so glad you bought me.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: That ice cream, Yeah, just because I'm also glad when
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: people buy me ice cream. Whether we're friends soulmates doesn't matter.
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: I cried because I don't have any ice cream, and
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: I wish I had.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: I just wanted to see a blue duck. So I
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: dribble a duck. Love that love that.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: Those are my six but you might have had one
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: earlier on I just I wasn't feeling them.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Yeah. So when Robbie says, there's what t more? Two more?
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: I think when Robbie says, I heard you crying in
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: your bedroom the other day, I didn't know what to do, and.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, okay, that's that's yeah, that's hard
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: in her office. Yeah.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: I also loved when when Jacob was getting kind of
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: like vulnerable in the bedroom and he was just like
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: we do me a favor. He says it really funnily,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: but he's like, we do me a favor, will we
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: do me a kindness? Will you ask me something personal
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: about myself? And then he talks about his parents and
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: his dad and all that. I just thought that was beautiful.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: I liked that a lot. Uh.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: You love it when people are vulnerable in bed to you.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: It's really really I don't even need to be in
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: the bed, but uh. And I love when Cal's kind
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: of busting his chops when he calls. We find out
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: he's calling from the liquor stores. They're buying the wine
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: to go to the house where all the madness happens.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: But he's like, I'm nervous, I don't know what to do.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: I don't love and he's like kind of busting his
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: jobs and being like, well, don't be yourself, that's for sure,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: you know, like all this stuff. And then he's like,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: you know what, don't worry about tonight. You're gonna be fine.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Good for you, by the way, Like, I just thought
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: that was a beautiful little moment between these dudes.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: So yeah, that was enough to enough to get a
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: t oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: Emotional vulnerability signed yeah.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: Right, okay, all right, did you have more than that?
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: Because I think that was three more?
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: That was it? That was nine toes all right, pretty
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: light more than I thought for an hour, that's probably
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: two hours, right, How long is it's mo Yeah, it
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: felt a little long.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: Hours.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: This matter. It's great. Let's go a little bit of
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: movie to rebia here. I thought this was fun. While
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: rehearsing for the dance scene Ryan Gosling. The dance scene
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: of Ryan Gosling lifting Emma Stone in the air for
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: the dirty dancing style move. Stone didn't she had a
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: phobia being lifted high up until the first time that
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: he did it. She had a full meltdown, which Gossling
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: described as like a possum falling out of a tree
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: trying to scratch your eyes out. Afterwards, she ran away
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: crying and had to lie in bed watching Labyrinth to
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: calm down. Her phobia apparently came from the age. At
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: the age of seven, she fell off the high bars
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: and gymnastics and broke both her arms, which does sound awful,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: to be fair. They ended up using a body double
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: for the lift, but they did use the recording of
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Stone's real screams, So there's that. I just thought that
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: was wild.
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: That is wild. That's so funny that. Yeah, I wish
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: there was footage of Gouz. I mean, there probably is
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: footage of it, but just Gosling's reaction to that. What
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: is that happening?
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: Did I do something wrong?
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: Right? Terrify?
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: It'd be the worst, really andyone just standing around set
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: being like, so, yeah, that's crazy. Have you guys ever
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: done that move? By the way, it's really hard.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: I don't think I ever have.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: No, I've only ever done it in a pool.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: And they would have to be quite little for me
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: to pull that.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: But you know, in the crusehib was with all the
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: dancers all the time, so I did it a couple
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: of times with them. It's hard. Yeah, you'd be very
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: strong to do that, and I could only just it's crazy.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Steve Garrell has said that he hates the title of
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: this film, mostly because, as he states it, he couldn't
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: imagine a group of college guys saying five tickets to
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: Crazy Stupid Love Please.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: That's that's not the that's not the demographic for this
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: fair either, really fair, ye five dudes going to see
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: I mean, maybe you know us in a couple of
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: people would probably go.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: I would have wish you saying that though at all now,
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: but he thought he preferred the Wingman as the title
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: for the movie and putting on wing but he thought
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: it was still a boring title, but it at least
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: more accurately described the plot. And apparently this was a
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: point of contention because the filmmakers apparently offered a free
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: iPad on set to whoever came up with the title
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: for the movie. Love that so, uh yeah, I don't know.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: I like it.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: I'm surprised there hasn't been a movie called the wing Yeah,
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: that is wild. You say that, that is wild.
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: It's the it'll be the third top ten movie.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Oh nice, it should be the wing Man. But it's
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: like a lady helping her gentleman friend out and then
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: they fall in love and it's great.
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: There's seriously at least fifteen things called the Oh okay, well,
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: so never mind.
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: A lot of wingmen. Okay, great, well.
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: A lot of them.
- 1:18:57Speaker 6: I will say, though, I remember when this first came out,
- 1:19:00Speaker 6: and I remember looking at the DV because I didn't
- 1:19:02Speaker 6: see even theater, so I just remember looking at the
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: DVD and being like crazy stupid love. Like I do
- 1:19:08Speaker 6: remember thinking it was a weird title.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: Sure, sure, how about that?
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: And now it fits and I'm like, yeah, great, it's awesome.
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: It's a great movie.
- 1:19:16Speaker 6: But I do remember one of the first times I
- 1:19:19Speaker 6: saw it being like dumb title for a movie that
- 1:19:24Speaker 6: I thought it was gonna be way cheesier from the title.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's fair, that is fair. Emma Stone is
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: three days older than Leo Tipton. However, her character is
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: approximately seven or eight years older than Jessica in the movie,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: so I thought that was interesting. Sure, let's see, Kevin
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: Bacon and Ryan Gosling are distant cousins. They're both descendants
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: of the English Baldwin family. Apparently that's fun They say
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: the name David lind Togan nineteen times in this movie.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: I saw that triviun and I was like, definitely taking that.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: That's funny. I like that.
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: Let's see, dude, I didn't see much trivia in.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: This There's not a ton. There's not a ton. Let's see.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: The second line on the name to the name plate
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: of Emily Weaver's desk says, associate to the Vice President.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: And this is a reference to the office and the
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: gag was assistant to the regional manager, which I thought
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: was fun.
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: Of course.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: Also another references when Ryan Gosling when they meet.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: At the the.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: Mall when they're going to buy the clothes and he's
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: like Ciborrows. And this is a reference because Michael Scott
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: says his favorite pizza place is to Borrows in New
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: York City when he goes there, which I thought was funny.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: I thought this was very relatable to me at the
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: very least. But Emma Stone's character, Hannah, is a law student.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: Steve Carell originally wanted to be a lawyer, but he
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: reached a question on the application form that said why
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: do you want to be a lawyer? He couldn't think
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: of anything, so he didn't do it.
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: I guess I'll be one of the funniest people in
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: the Well.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: Damn they got me. I just thought that was really
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: that was a funny little anecdote there.
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: It is good.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: Oh this is crazy too. After this built. After this
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: was filmed, Marissa Tomey went on that Finding Your Roots
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: show with Henry Lewis Gates Junior, and she found out
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: that her and Julianne Moore are related and they share
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: a common DNA, so they don't know how or anything.
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: I guess, but how are all of these people related
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: in this?
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: And that's strange and let's see. That's it. That was
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: all the trivia I had.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't find anything about other people playing roles
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: or anything.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: Which is crazy because there's so many roles that Yeah,
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: that is wild. But Nate, did you have any trivia?
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: We didn't say.
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: No.
- 1:22:00Speaker 6: This aside from the stuff that you read, which I've seen,
- 1:22:06Speaker 6: this isn't like Back to the Future or anything where
- 1:22:08Speaker 6: there's like so many.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: Little dreams all that one's crazy.
- 1:22:12Speaker 6: Well, yeah, no, there was wasn't anything that I was like,
- 1:22:18Speaker 6: I get that.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Well that's great.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: Yeah, man, Will there be a sequel judgment day?
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: Probably not. I don't know.
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: Maybe people are still doing It'd be.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: Really hard to come up with the as good of
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: a script again, but they did.
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: Yeah, how do we get a big reveal at the
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: end like we did with this one?
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Very lovely?
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: Maybe the sequel was La La Land.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: Kind of like that. I mean that.
- 1:22:55Speaker 6: But they all got amnesia and that's why they didn't
- 1:23:00Speaker 6: know each other.
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: Because it was a big accident that's fun. And so
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: he just.
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: Started and wants to be an actress.
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: Yeah, he just started.
- 1:23:09Speaker 6: Pis doing jazz because he knew didn't know what else
- 1:23:12Speaker 6: to do, right, I like it. No, they're great together.
- 1:23:16Speaker 6: They are one hundred percent Tom Hanks, Megan.
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: Ryan right like, yeah, Drew Barry mor Adam Sandler, like,
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: they're such a good acting duo.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: We can get hurt to stop making these crazy movies
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: which are fun, don't get me wrong, but they're weird.
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: Yeah, get away from Yrgos for a little bit.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: But one for one for one for us, you know,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: let's live. Yeah, right, so probably not.
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: Probably you guys want to play game?
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: Which game?
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: It's called the Starting Five Where I'm going to name
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: my five favorite actors from a particular a particular film,
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: and when you know the film, you can ring in
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: with your name. If you get it wrong, there won't
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: be any negative points, but you won't be able to
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: guess again for that movie. If there are actors' names remaining,
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: you can guess those for a point each the other
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: person can steal if you get any of those names wrong.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: And all of these films have something in common and
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: it usually pertains to the movie we've just discussed. When
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: you know the theme, you can ring it at any
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: time for a point. Love it sound good?
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: Yeah I'm gonna lose, but yeah, sure.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: Okay, let's do it. Love the Attitude number one. The
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: first name is Emma Thompson. The second name is Colin
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: Firth bus not Colin Thuckond. What is that? Bukes? What
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: do you have?
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: Love?
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: Actually? Love? Actually?
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: No?
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: Okay you grant.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: Correct?
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: Who else is in that movie?
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: So many people? Yeah?
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: You want to pick Andrew Lincoln? Would you? I don't
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: know why I remember his You're right?
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: You have one? Yeah, that's impressive. One guess remaining? Uh?
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: Is it? She would tell Edgi.
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: Four it is? But I didn't pick him. I mean
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: that was great. No, I picked I picked two other
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: bigger parts than those.
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: Jennifer Lawrence. Oh my gosh, not Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer Garner.
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: She's not.
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: Is she not? In? Dude? I've seen Love Actually like
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: twice and it was clear.
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: There's no Jennifer's in it.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Who are you thinking of?
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: Wait?
- 1:25:49Speaker 6: Oh no, she isn't she in the skit? Is she
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: in an SNL skit about love?
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Actually?
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: Maybe?
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: Probably?
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: Or maybe like a commercial with the yes cards. Maybe
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: that might be something. Shoot, yeah, do you have any
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: other guesses?
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: Nate? Guess in that Laggy's movie?
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: If that helps you, I've said Emma Thompson, Colin Firth,
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: and Bukes said Hugh Grant. There's two names remaining. You
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: get one more.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Guest Natalie Portman's double queen Amidala. Remember name queen.
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: You know I'm not going to get this. I don't
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: know that movie.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: Well enough, Okay, do you have any more guesses? Bukes?
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: It's the lady? Is it the lady?
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: I don't have any ladies. I don't have any more ladies?
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: Is it?
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Servius? Though, Alan Rickman?
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: That was another one I picked, And then you're missing
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: my number one. My favorite person from Love actually is.
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: Bill ny Oh of course, yeah, I feel it in
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: my fingers.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: I filled in sound.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: Anybody you know the theme?
- 1:27:07Speaker 5: Is it?
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Movies with like separate stuff happening that then come together?
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: No?
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: Well, oh my next guess is going to be New
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: Year's Eve? Love?
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Is love in the title?
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: Love is in every title? That's another point for Bukes.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: Wait, so all of these.
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: Movies, sorry, like four guys? Q Grant and love Actually,
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: so you got two points plus the theme three points.
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: Every single one of these titles has the word love
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: in it. Some of them are harder than others.
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: Debbie loves Dallas.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: Not a great It's not a great one.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: Just love them though. Oh sorry, this isn't a dig
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: just for fact checking. Nate didn't get any Yeah.
- 1:27:54Speaker 6: Shindler loves lists No, no, okay.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: I'm sorry, it's a throw.
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: Sorry for those.
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: All right, let's go to number two. The first name
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: is Hank is Area. The second name is Judy Greer,
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: Oh love her. The third name is Oliver Platt, love Him.

- 1:28:43Speaker 1: Is that two?
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: Well, let's go, let's do it quicker. Number three. The
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: first name is Tessa Thompson.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: Oh Bukes, the second Bukes Thor Love and Thunder.
