- 0:00Speaker 1: Meanwhile, tensions escalating in the conflict with Iran, as Iran's
- 0:03Speaker 1: president delivers a defiant speech to the United Nations, despite
- 0:06Speaker 1: President Trump's stark warning on Tuesday.
- 0:11Speaker 2: We will never bow our head or bend at the knee.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Iran must be understood by Mr. Trump and those who
- 0:22Speaker 2: seek to bully us that we are ready for dialogue
- 0:25Speaker 2: and diplomacy and negotiations without accepting the language of force.
- 0:30Speaker 3: And today protests are expected outside the U.N. as Israeli
- 0:33Speaker 3: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to deliver his speech.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Chief Foreign Correspondent Trey Yinks is live in Tel Aviv
- 0:39Speaker 4: with the latest. Trey. Yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 5: Hey, guys.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Good morning.
- 0:43Speaker 6: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address the U.N. General
- 0:47Speaker 6: Assembly later today. The Israeli leader is expected to discuss
- 0:50Speaker 6: the war with Iran, the upcoming anniversary of the October
- 0:53Speaker 6: 7th terrorist attack and other broader issues, possibly even including
- 0:57Speaker 6: New York Mayor Mamdani. The prime minister released this video
- 1:00Speaker 6: before departing for his trip.
- 1:03Speaker 5: I'm leaving for New York tonight to defend the state
- 1:06Speaker 5: of Israel and IDF soldiers from the podium of the
- 1:09Speaker 5: United Nations. You hear the terrible lies being spread there
- 1:12Speaker 5: and elsewhere around the world. I will fight against those lies.
- 1:15Speaker 5: I will fight for the truth of our soldiers, for
- 1:18Speaker 5: the truth of our country. And yes, there will also
- 1:21Speaker 5: be surprises.
- 1:23Speaker 6: The speech comes as Israel is asking the world for
- 1:26Speaker 6: prayers in the aftermath of a car-ramming attack on Wednesday
- 1:29Speaker 6: in the West Bank. The critically injured victim is the
- 1:31Speaker 6: son of the Israeli ambassador to the United States. Now,
- 1:34Speaker 6: first responders described what they encountered upon arriving at the
- 1:38Speaker 6: site of the attack.
- 1:40Speaker 7: Again, David Adom, EMTs and paramedics rushed to the scene
- 1:42Speaker 7: in large numbers. On arrival, we found a male, approximately
- 1:46Speaker 7: 40 years old, seriously injured and unconscious. He was evacuated
- 1:49Speaker 7: immediately to Shari Teneck Hospital. The terrorist was dealt with
- 1:53Speaker 7: at the scene by IDF forces.
- 1:57Speaker 6: The violence in the West Bank comes as we're tracking
- 1:58Speaker 6: the latest in the war with Iran. Iran's President Massoud
- 2:01Speaker 6: Poseshkin did address the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday as
- 2:04Speaker 6: the U.S. delegation walked out of his speech. Poseshkin's remarks
- 2:08Speaker 6: occurred after three hours of indirect talks between the Iranian
- 2:11Speaker 6: delegation and U.S. officials.
- 2:14Speaker 8: I'm not going to characterize yesterday's talks, but by and
- 2:16Speaker 8: large at this point, you know, the Iranians violated the MOU,
- 2:19Speaker 8: as the president said. I mean, they killed the MOU.
- 2:21Speaker 8: They strangled it by violating the IRGC. So, you know,
- 2:26Speaker 8: we'll see what happens.
- 2:30Speaker 6: Interestingly, Iran's Supreme National Security Council released a statement through
- 2:33Speaker 6: state media criticizing the Iranian delegation for meeting with U.S. officials,
- 2:38Speaker 6: saying they weren't authorized to do so.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Guys?
- 2:42Speaker 1: So, Trey, the latest statement from Iran is if we
- 2:47Speaker 1: attack them, they are going to expand the war through
- 2:50Speaker 1: the Indian Ocean and oil jumps now 2 percent.
- 2:53Speaker 3: How would they do that?
- 2:56Speaker 6: Yeah, they're threatening other straits around the world, and it's
- 2:59Speaker 6: not clear how they would do it, but we know
- 3:00Speaker 6: they are threatening the Bab al-Mandab Strait, that entrance to
- 3:03Speaker 6: the Red Sea with their proxy forces in Yemen, the Houthis.
- 3:06Speaker 6: But the Iranians do have sleeper cells around the world
- 3:09Speaker 6: and the ability to disrupt the global energy trade, as
- 3:12Speaker 6: we have seen over the past several months. It's interesting, though,
- 3:15Speaker 6: because the Iranians back in their country are saying that
- 3:18Speaker 6: these meetings in the United States aren't as grandiose as
- 3:21Speaker 6: were being reported. They say all they did was deliver
- 3:24Speaker 6: their new demands for the United States, and they did
- 3:27Speaker 6: not describe this as a negotiation. So, again, this speaks
- 3:30Speaker 6: to the hard-line difference between these more political figures, including
- 3:33Speaker 6: Iran's president and foreign minister, and these IRGC officials in
- 3:37Speaker 6: Tehran who do not want to deal with the United States.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Trey, you're in Israel. There's a critical election there in
- 3:43Speaker 4: five weeks. Benjamin Netanyahu would love to keep his seat
- 3:45Speaker 4: as the prime minister. So when he speaks today here
- 3:48Speaker 4: in New York, it's doubling. It's going to also count
- 3:50Speaker 4: as a campaign speech. What's the latest with the election there?
- 3:56Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely. It is a tight election here in Israel.
- 3:59Speaker 6: On October 27th, Israelis will go to the polls. And remember,
- 4:02Speaker 6: when Netanyahu addresses the U.N. General Assembly today, this is
- 4:05Speaker 6: not just a speech to the world. It also has
- 4:07Speaker 6: a domestic audience with these upcoming elections. There is another candidate,
- 4:11Speaker 6: Gadi Eisenkot, a military veteran in Israel who is doing
- 4:15Speaker 6: quite well in the polls, possibly threatening Netanyahu's ability to
- 4:18Speaker 6: build a coalition in the parliamentary system that they have
- 4:21Speaker 6: here in Israel. And so It will be a tight race,
- 4:24Speaker 6: and there are mixed polls right now in Israel about
- 4:27Speaker 6: if the prime minister will be able to retain power
- 4:30Speaker 6: here in the Jewish state.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Trey, I was just listening to your report about the
- 4:34Speaker 3: Israeli ambassador to the United States and what happened with
- 4:37Speaker 3: his son. Do we know yet if they knew, since
- 4:41Speaker 3: the Israelis are calling it a terrorist attack, that that
- 4:44Speaker 3: was his son? Because if that were the case, that's
- 4:46Speaker 3: a major escalation.
- 4:51Speaker 8: We don't have.
- 4:51Speaker 6: Any indication at this point that this was a targeted attack.
- 4:55Speaker 6: This was a broad terrorist attack, something that routinely does happen, unfortunately,
- 4:59Speaker 6: in the West Bank. But at this point, it appears
- 5:02Speaker 6: this was a random incident, and this terrorist attack was
- 5:05Speaker 6: just targeting soldiers at this checkpoint in the West Bank.
- 5:09Speaker 6: But when you think about the ambassador, his family has
- 5:11Speaker 6: suffered a lot over the past several years. His older
- 5:15Speaker 6: son was actually killed during the war in Gaza. And
- 5:18Speaker 6: when the ambassador spoke today from the hospital in Israel,
- 5:21Speaker 6: this dichotomy of joy and fear in his face because
- 5:25Speaker 6: when his daughter arrived at the hospital to check on
- 5:28Speaker 6: her brother, she actually went into labor. And it just
- 5:32Speaker 6: talks about the story here and the resilience of this family.
- 5:35Speaker 6: And he actually said just feet away from where his
- 5:38Speaker 6: son is actually being treated in critical condition at the hospital,
- 5:42Speaker 6: his daughter is giving birth to a grandchild.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Wow.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Unbelievable. Great report, Trey.
- 5:48Speaker 7: Appreciate it.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Thank you, Trey.
