- 0:02Speaker 1: Florida State at Alabama. Cole, we are presented by PrizePix.
- 0:07Speaker 1: What did Alabama do well in that second half against
- 0:09Speaker 1: Kentucky that should scare the living crap out of Florida State?
- 0:13Speaker 2: They blitzed really well against a offensive line that had
- 0:16Speaker 2: lost its spark going into the end of the second quarter.
- 0:18Speaker 2: They were able to capitalize on short field position. And
- 0:22Speaker 2: they ran the football efficiently for the first time in
- 0:23Speaker 2: what feels like forever in the Kalen DeBoer era. So
- 0:26Speaker 2: those are the three main takeaways that I had. I
- 0:29Speaker 2: was really impressed with how Kane Womack's defense was able
- 0:32Speaker 2: to step on up and kind of regain control of
- 0:36Speaker 2: this matchup going into the second quarter. You know, you
- 0:39Speaker 2: come on out in the third and you got the
- 0:42Speaker 2: punt on the opening drive. And instead of being at
- 0:45Speaker 2: that moment of, oh, woe is me, they're able to
- 0:48Speaker 2: slow down Kentucky's offense and they force out They force
- 0:51Speaker 2: out the opportunity to get the ball back, and then
- 0:52Speaker 2: they are off to the race at that standpoint. I
- 0:55Speaker 2: thought Kane Womack's defense did a really good job of
- 0:56Speaker 2: blitzing too, whether it be with the secondary linebacker position,
- 0:59Speaker 2: whether it be sending Jira Edwards down, who's a freshman.
- 1:03Speaker 2: That fourth quarter blitz to where he took out Kenny Minchey,
- 1:07Speaker 2: and I believe it was C.J.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Baxter at the same play.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Phenomenal timing. And I think that's just a testament of
- 1:13Speaker 2: what you have with veteranship being able to open up
- 1:15Speaker 2: creases that allow you to play a little bit better
- 1:18Speaker 2: than what your age description is. So those are some
- 1:21Speaker 2: major things. I think that the big question mark is
- 1:25Speaker 2: the rumor about Ryan Grubb. Now, Tom, do you know
- 1:27Speaker 2: about this rumor or no?
- 1:28Speaker 3: Educate me.
- 1:29Speaker 2: So in the third quarter, apparently the play calling microphone
- 1:33Speaker 2: went out between the connection between the field and the
- 1:37Speaker 2: office coordinators. And so the rumor is that Kalen DeBoer
- 1:39Speaker 2: took over the play calling and that's when things started
- 1:41Speaker 2: to go their way. So do you go back to
- 1:44Speaker 2: that ideology against a front seven like Florida State and
- 1:47Speaker 2: allow it to be able to just trust your rushing
- 1:49Speaker 2: attack to continuously put yourself in a good position?
- 1:52Speaker 1: Does it matter? Could Willie and Bama like call plays
- 1:55Speaker 1: and probably be fine against this floor?
- 2:00Speaker 2: I think that, you know what, you know what? So
- 2:02Speaker 2: there was a rumor TJ and I haven't gotten it
- 2:04Speaker 2: confirmed yet. But apparently Alabama is going to do the
- 2:08Speaker 2: Akron side of things, where they're going to let Guy
- 2:11Speaker 2: call plays from the sidelines for one drive.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And you are the prime candidate right.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Now just to go ahead and end the Mike Norvell era.
- 2:17Speaker 2: So maybe that happens for you.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm running mesh every single play, and boom, baby, boom.
- 2:23Speaker 1: It'll be seven plays and a touchdown, if that. If
- 2:27Speaker 1: we can tackle.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I think the big thing that you want to see
- 2:29Speaker 2: in this game is that there's more consistency from Keelan Russell. Now,
- 2:32Speaker 2: what I appreciate about the offensive play calling in the
- 2:35Speaker 2: second half was after you had three turnovers in the first,
- 2:37Speaker 2: you said, you know what? Let's make this as much
- 2:40Speaker 2: as a comfortable position for Russell as possible. And by
- 2:43Speaker 2: doing that, what they did was they were able to
- 2:44Speaker 2: run the football mostly with Daniel Hill. They got EJ
- 2:47Speaker 2: Carwell mixed on in. They threw Treshawn Brown into the mix.
- 2:49Speaker 2: But they did a good job of allowing themselves to
- 2:52Speaker 2: be able to take the ball out of Keelan Russell's
- 2:55Speaker 2: hands and give it to other players. And then when
- 2:57Speaker 2: they finally needed to. He stepped on up and passes
- 3:00Speaker 2: to Rico Scott and Ryan Coleman-Williams and Lonnie Brooks and
- 3:04Speaker 2: a pritch at the tight end. So there's some things
- 3:06Speaker 2: you can take away. Let's get to that next stage
- 3:08Speaker 2: of the growth. You know, it's his second start. This
- 3:11Speaker 2: is an opportunity to where you can go ahead and
- 3:13Speaker 2: continue to build in front of your hometown crowd before
- 3:15Speaker 2: you take on another SEC opponent in South Carolina next
- 3:18Speaker 2: week that will be a much more intimidating foe than
- 3:20Speaker 2: what you have at Kentucky. So I think that with
- 3:22Speaker 2: this game more specifically, what you want is you want
- 3:24Speaker 2: to be able to have the run set up the pass.
- 3:27Speaker 2: tire out that front seven, tire out that defensive line
- 3:30Speaker 2: to allow yourself to now have opportunities to make those
- 3:34Speaker 2: deep shots down the field to a Coleman Williams, to
- 3:36Speaker 2: a Lottie Brooks, to a Pritchett, and be able to
- 3:39Speaker 2: go off to the races. And I'm just going to
- 3:41Speaker 2: be completely real. I think that Alabama is going to
- 3:43Speaker 2: win this game pretty comfortably, but it's not because I
- 3:45Speaker 2: think that Florida.
- 3:46Speaker 1: State is bad.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I think that everyone still remembers what happened last season
- 3:51Speaker 2: down in Tallahassee and the way that we spoke about
- 3:54Speaker 2: Kalen DeBoer. And whether or not you want to say
- 3:56Speaker 2: that Kalen DeBoer is this rah-rah guy that's got to
- 3:59Speaker 2: be so intensified and screaming ass players, ego's a big deal.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Ego's a big deal for all men, just in general.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Whether or not we want to admit it, ego does matter.
- 4:08Speaker 2: His ego was hurt that day. And I think that
- 4:10Speaker 2: he's going to make sure that the ego is hurt
- 4:11Speaker 2: of Magnor Bell and Seminoles fans everywhere.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Hey guys, I'll get right back to the show. But first,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I want to tell you about our friends over at PrizePix.
- 4:17Speaker 1: All new users there who play a $ 5 lineup and
- 4:20Speaker 1: win get $ 150 in lineups instantly if they've used code HMA.
- 4:24Speaker 1: This week on the Power 2 over on the College
- 4:26Speaker 1: Football Addiction main channel, we picked these picks that you
- 4:30Speaker 1: see on the screen. Mensa, Tony, Lacey, Leavitt, and Trinidad.
- 4:34Speaker 1: A lot of these can be adjusted. So we took
- 4:36Speaker 1: the more on everything, but some of us took the
- 4:39Speaker 1: more on Trinidad to have one passing touchdown. Some of
- 4:42Speaker 1: us took the more on him to have 1.5 or 3.5.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Some of us took the more on Sam Leavitt at 2.5
- 4:48Speaker 1: passing touchdowns. Kiwan Lacey has a bunch of different options
- 4:51Speaker 1: that we took.
- 4:51Speaker 2: The more on.
- 4:52Speaker 1: You can take more than 76. You can take more
- 4:54Speaker 1: than 69.5. You can take more than 39.5 if you
- 4:57Speaker 1: just want to try and play it safe. Malachi Toney at.
- 5:00Speaker 1: 5 touchdowns. I took the more there. You can go
- 5:02Speaker 1: all the way up to 2.5 if you think he
- 5:04Speaker 1: goes off against Wake. Go check out the PrizePix app.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Take the more on everything, but adjust it to where
- 5:10Speaker 1: your comfort level is. Go check out them. Go check
- 5:13Speaker 1: out the live show of the Power 2. Make sure
- 5:14Speaker 1: you are subscribed. Now back to the clip. Well, Mike
- 5:18Speaker 1: Norvell will have a nice buyout if that's the case,
- 5:20Speaker 1: and so his ego can take a bump up. Tom?
- 5:24Speaker 3: I have a very random prediction for this, and I'm
- 5:28Speaker 3: basing it on absolutely nothing. I think Florida State will
- 5:31Speaker 3: have the first and last score of this game.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I think the final score will.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Be Alabama 42, Florida State 10. I think you get
- 5:40Speaker 3: a field goal in the opening drive, and you script
- 5:43Speaker 3: it on out, and then you get a garbage time touchdown.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I hate this situation for Florida State fans. I look
- 5:51Speaker 3: at MikeG691 in the comments here. This Bama fan is
- 5:54Speaker 3: not taking this game for granted. I completely understand that
- 5:57Speaker 3: if you're an Alabama fan. You thought the cue on
- 6:00Speaker 3: Russell looked great in the opener. The Kentucky game gave
- 6:03Speaker 3: you some concerns. This Florida State team is not good, period.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Their best bet is to get Deuce Robinson the football,
- 6:12Speaker 3: and they can't do that because I think Ashton Daniels
- 6:15Speaker 3: is probably playing the wrong sport. Meanwhile, I like Croma.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I like what the running game did against SMU. They're
- 6:23Speaker 3: not going to have the same opportunities in the running
- 6:25Speaker 3: game against Alabama that they had against SMU. I think
- 6:28Speaker 3: they're going to try to stay consistent with that because
- 6:30Speaker 3: really having Ashton Daniels stand back there and try and
- 6:33Speaker 3: pick apart coverage, not a recipe for success. I don't
- 6:37Speaker 3: know what Florida State defensively is really going to do
- 6:40Speaker 3: to limit Alabama in this game. I don't think it's
- 6:43Speaker 3: a perfectly clean game by Alabama. I think you'll see
- 6:46Speaker 3: some instances where there's some frustration. The offense will be
- 6:48Speaker 3: hot and cold. I think they're still kind of figuring
- 6:50Speaker 3: things out. But Keelon Russell, I expect for him to
- 6:53Speaker 3: be a little bit cleaner in this game than he
- 6:55Speaker 3: was against Kentucky. But just like that, there's no path
- 6:59Speaker 3: to victory in my mind for Florida State.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Well, humor me, residential Florida State fan. What is the
- 7:05Speaker 2: path of making it close?
- 7:07Speaker 3: Who is that?
- 7:08Speaker 1: I don't know, but it's definitely not you. I was
- 7:09Speaker 1: talking to Tom. I think.
- 7:12Speaker 3: The path to victory is who's the backup quarterback.
- 7:14Speaker 2: No, no, no, no. I didn't even say path to victory.
- 7:16Speaker 2: There's no way they're winning this football game because of
- 7:18Speaker 2: Alabama refuses.
- 7:19Speaker 1: To let them.
- 7:20Speaker 2: What's the way of making it respectably close.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It's Alabama making mistakes in Florida state, finding a way
- 7:25Speaker 1: to capitalize on them, which they didn't do against SMU.
- 7:28Speaker 1: They scored seven points off of turnovers last week and
- 7:31Speaker 1: they got a plus four because of a jump offsides
- 7:34Speaker 1: when they kicked a field goal and SMU was offsides.
- 7:36Speaker 1: So they capitalized off of SMU mistakes by about 11
- 7:40Speaker 1: points and They're going to need a lot more than
- 7:42Speaker 1: that against Alabama. I think Alabama can name their score
- 7:44Speaker 1: in this game. Florida State's defense is atrocious. Their scheme
- 7:48Speaker 1: is bad with Tony White. That is one of the
- 7:50Speaker 1: more mystifying things about this program that I even can
- 7:55Speaker 1: comprehend because he did such a good job at Nebraska defense.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And so, yeah, the scheme is bad. The players are
- 8:00Speaker 1: not great. They have no... Florida State's bad in three areas.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Where's Florida State good in one area?
- 8:08Speaker 3: Three faces of the game, and they're bad in all
- 8:11Speaker 3: of them.
- 8:11Speaker 1: John McKay one time was asked, you know, about what
- 8:15Speaker 1: he thought about a Bucs game after the Bucs had lost.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And the old coach said something to the effect of, well,
- 8:21Speaker 1: we can't run, block, or tackle. But other than that,
- 8:24Speaker 1: we looked pretty good. So, you know, one time was asked,
- 8:27Speaker 1: what did you think about your team's execution? And he said,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I'm in favor of it. And that's about where I'm
- 8:31Speaker 1: at with Florida State right now under Mike Norvell. But, yeah,
- 8:35Speaker 1: they've got talent. And you mentioned Cromon. You mentioned Deuce.
- 8:39Speaker 1: they've got a bad offensive line, a bad defensive line
- 8:41Speaker 1: and a bad quarterback. I don't know if there are
- 8:44Speaker 1: three things that would be worse for you to be
- 8:47Speaker 1: at bad at, if you're trying to win football games,
- 8:49Speaker 1: then the trenches and the quarterback. Yeah. They're not good
- 8:54Speaker 1: up front on either side and they're not good under
- 8:57Speaker 1: center or in the shotgun, whatever they do this weekend,
- 9:00Speaker 1: that makes it very tough. The path to this game
- 9:03Speaker 1: being respectable. And then, you know, wild, wild, horses ass
- 9:08Speaker 1: chance of competing in this game. Yeah. I mean, you
- 9:11Speaker 1: need Bama to play as poorly as they did in
- 9:13Speaker 1: the first half against Kentucky for both halves. And then
- 9:17Speaker 1: you need to let Ashton Daniels loose and let him
- 9:19Speaker 1: throw the ball a little bit. And he needs to
- 9:21Speaker 1: be good at it. Last year, he had 250 yards
- 9:24Speaker 1: against Alabama on the, through the air. He had a
- 9:26Speaker 1: hundred yards on the ground. If you're Mike Norvell, are
- 9:28Speaker 1: you playing this game to lose close or are you
- 9:31Speaker 1: playing this game to maybe save your job? I don't
- 9:33Speaker 1: think his job is getting saved one way or the other,
- 9:34Speaker 1: but hopefully it's the latter. If that turns into a
- 9:38Speaker 1: 35-point loss instead of a 20-point loss, then so be it.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I have said this a million times, so if people
- 9:44Speaker 1: have watched more than one of my videos this week,
- 9:46Speaker 1: I'm sorry that I keep repeating it. I thought Sark
- 9:48Speaker 1: had the quote of the year when he was asked
- 9:50Speaker 1: about going for it on fourth down in his own 33. Hey,
- 9:52Speaker 1: did you think about punting that so the game wouldn't
- 9:54Speaker 1: get out of hand if if Ohio state got the
- 9:56Speaker 1: ball there and Sark ended up saying, no, that's how
- 9:59Speaker 1: losers think. And so, yeah, hopefully Mike Norvell doesn't play
- 10:02Speaker 1: this like a loser and goes out and lets the
- 10:05Speaker 1: guys kind of go play loose. Because if you lose
- 10:06Speaker 1: by 35 or you lose by 20, what's the difference?
- 10:09Speaker 1: That's the path to the game being respectable. I don't
- 10:12Speaker 1: think that happens. I don't think Bama plays poorly. I
- 10:14Speaker 1: think Bama could play a C plus game and win
- 10:16Speaker 1: this thing by two touchdowns because you Are you confident
- 10:19Speaker 1: that Florida State plays an A-plus game to counteract that? No.
- 10:23Speaker 1: And so what's your best case scenario as a Florida
- 10:24Speaker 1: State game? Like a B-ish game? If Florida State plays
- 10:27Speaker 1: a B-type game against Alabama, I probably would be pretty happy. Now,
- 10:32Speaker 1: with the very micro, obviously, I want what I want
- 10:34Speaker 1: for the program in general. But I think that the
- 10:38Speaker 1: idea of Florida State competing in this game is just
- 10:40Speaker 1: a bridge too far. Football is dumb. Like if I'd
- 10:44Speaker 1: have asked you last week, you know, going into this season,
- 10:46Speaker 1: if I just said, Hey, what are your thoughts on
- 10:48Speaker 1: Oklahoma state beating Oregon? We'd have all said no way.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean, upsets are stupid and they happen.
- 10:56Speaker 1: The chance of Florida state pulling that off is really,
- 10:59Speaker 1: really slim. They have to have figured out so much
- 11:02Speaker 1: on the offense and defensive lines and at quarterback for
- 11:04Speaker 1: that to even be respectable this weekend. I don't think
- 11:08Speaker 1: that happens. I don't know. 41 to 12 Bama. I
- 11:13Speaker 1: will be more respectful, I guess, 38-13.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I mean, not by much, but again, I agree with
- 11:19Speaker 2: TJ and Tom on one thing. It's a name your
- 11:21Speaker 2: score performance if you.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Allow it to be.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Now, that means Alabama has to show on up and
- 11:27Speaker 2: play to its standard and show what it did in
- 11:29Speaker 2: the second half to be able to make it a
- 11:30Speaker 2: name your score game. But even if you have a
- 11:32Speaker 2: bad first quarter, you have 45 minutes to right the ship.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I think that they will.
- 11:36Speaker 2: And more specifically, I think that you will see a
- 11:38Speaker 2: much more balanced offense and a defense that's getting after
- 11:40Speaker 2: a quarterback. So 38-13.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I said it before, 42-10, Bama, Godspeed, Florida State fans.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Yep.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Is there a line that I can get somewhere on
- 11:51Speaker 1: first and last score? Because I like Tom's thinking there.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think it'll happen, but it might.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Tom, let's go bolder. That way we can go ahead
- 12:01Speaker 2: and replay the clip if need be. Touchdown on the
- 12:03Speaker 2: opening drive or a field goal.
- 12:04Speaker 3: On the opening drive? Field goal on the opening drive.
- 12:07Speaker 3: They script out something that it's like, okay, they march down,
- 12:10Speaker 3: they get something, it stalls. And then they get a
- 12:12Speaker 3: garbage time touchdown when Bam has a backup.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Just want to make sure.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Ashton Daniels would have to play the best game of
- 12:17Speaker 3: his life. And I have said this off air. I
- 12:20Speaker 3: think Ashton Daniels is probably playing the wrong sport.
