- 0:07Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Schrager is a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.
- 0:28Speaker 2: We got quite a quandary, don't we. This is a
- 0:30Speaker 2: pickle if you're the chiefs, how do you handle the
- 0:32Speaker 2: next few games? So you want the one seed? It's
- 0:35Speaker 2: very important. That means you get an extra week and
- 0:38Speaker 2: they get a buy when none of the other teams
- 0:39Speaker 2: do and they got to beat up on each other.
- 0:41Speaker 2: You want that one seed. But I think more important
- 0:43Speaker 2: than the one seed is Patrick Mahomes's health for that
- 0:45Speaker 2: playoff run. So do you sacrifice Mahomes for a couple
- 0:49Speaker 2: weeks here if you have to, and then maybe sacrifice
- 0:53Speaker 2: giving up that one seed. That's the question they're having.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Mahomes is waking up right now. It's eight am on
- 0:59Speaker 2: the Central Time. His ankle could be a giant balloon, swelled.
- 1:03Speaker 2: We don't know, could be swollen. It could be fine.
- 1:05Speaker 2: We'll get deep tales in the next couple hours. I
- 1:09Speaker 2: look at the schedule and they play Saturday, so short
- 1:12Speaker 2: week against the Houston Texans. Can Carson Wentz go and
- 1:17Speaker 2: beat the Houston Texans that home? Can they get that
- 1:20Speaker 2: job done? Then? In four days? Four days from Saturday
- 1:25Speaker 2: to Wednesday, they have to go play the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
- 1:28Speaker 2: If I were to tell you that Patrick Mahomes could
- 1:31Speaker 2: have the next two full weeks off, let this thing heal,
- 1:36Speaker 2: and then finish up in week eighteen and then go
- 1:39Speaker 2: have a bye week, have another week and then play
- 1:41Speaker 2: in the playoffs. Think you would sign up for that.
- 1:43Speaker 2: But do you sacrifice that if you give up the
- 1:45Speaker 2: one seat to the Bills. Remember they lost to the Bills.
- 1:47Speaker 2: They are only losses to the Bills, So though they
- 1:49Speaker 2: have a two game advantage over the Bills in the standings,
- 1:52Speaker 2: it's really just a one game advantage. You have to
- 1:55Speaker 2: win two of the next three to secure that buy
- 1:58Speaker 2: Can you do it without Mahomes? That's the question. And
- 2:01Speaker 2: what a gut gut wrenching deal that would be for
- 2:04Speaker 2: Netflix in the NFL if it's Carson Wentz and the Steelers.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I'm just telling you that right now, the NFL and
- 2:09Speaker 2: Netflix are not looking to see Carson Wentz on there.
- 2:12Speaker 2: So do you rest them this week, maybe lose, and
- 2:15Speaker 2: then start them against Pittsburgh and you get your Christmas
- 2:17Speaker 2: game and you get your Mahomes and you get all that,
- 2:19Speaker 2: Or do you play it really safe and potentially have
- 2:23Speaker 2: this situation on Christmas where it's Carson Wentz to not Mahomes,
- 2:27Speaker 2: not the Chiefs problem, folks, not the Chiefs problem at all.
- 2:29Speaker 2: They're worried about Lombardi's not about satisfying everyone else. And
- 2:33Speaker 2: it's almost like you need to take out a calculator
- 2:34Speaker 2: and an advocates and kind of do the math here
- 2:36Speaker 2: and see, because if they had one more win or
- 2:39Speaker 2: the Bills had one less win, then you could just
- 2:42Speaker 2: rest them and like we're good, We're fine. They need
- 2:44Speaker 2: to win two the next three to confirm that they
- 2:46Speaker 2: are going to still be the number one seed to
- 2:48Speaker 2: the next three. However, their next three games involve the Texans,
- 2:52Speaker 2: the Steelers, and the Broncos, three teams that are all
- 2:55Speaker 2: going to be playing their hearts out to try to
- 2:56Speaker 2: get into the playoffs or try to solidify where they
- 2:59Speaker 2: are in the playoff field. So what do you do
- 3:01Speaker 2: with Mahomes? What was a full participant yesterday, but he
- 3:05Speaker 2: even said it, He's like, you don't want to put
- 3:06Speaker 2: yourself in harm's way. You don't want to do anything
- 3:09Speaker 2: to get in the way of the team. And if
- 3:10Speaker 2: I'm just sitting there in the pocket and I'm not moving.
- 3:12Speaker 2: That could be harmful. The Texans have the second most
- 3:14Speaker 2: sacks in the league. They have this great defensive line,
- 3:17Speaker 2: and it's a short week. I would think you give
- 3:20Speaker 2: Carson Wentz the start this week. Let's just say you
- 3:22Speaker 2: go with Wentz, all right, and you put Wents in,
- 3:25Speaker 2: and Wentz says, well enough, whether you win or lose,
- 3:27Speaker 2: they are home. It's not like they can they're gonna
- 3:30Speaker 2: fall apart and lose thirty one to three. Here. They
- 3:32Speaker 2: still have one of the best defense in the league,
- 3:33Speaker 2: and Wentz has played in this league. Then you have
- 3:36Speaker 2: a four day rest to prepare for another game. Now.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I think if you win, you bench Mahomes the rest
- 3:44Speaker 2: of the way. If you can beat the Texans with
- 3:47Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes out, you bench them and you let Wentz
- 3:50Speaker 2: go Christmas, and you let Wentz go Denver and we
- 3:52Speaker 2: figure it out from there. If you lose and Buffalo,
- 3:55Speaker 2: of course wins against the Patriots, well then you're one
- 3:59Speaker 2: more loss away from losing that home seat. I think
- 4:01Speaker 2: the focus right now should be on Christmas, and do
- 4:04Speaker 2: you play Mahomes on Christmas? And I think you have
- 4:07Speaker 2: to play him if you lose this weekend. So that's
- 4:11Speaker 2: how I would manage it. I would go with Wentz.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I would give it my all. I would try to
- 4:14Speaker 2: win with Wentz and if you win, Pat enjoy your Christmas.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Sorry Netflix, Sorry NFL. It's a really weird conversation, but
- 4:20Speaker 2: like that's what I would do. And then if you lose,
- 4:23Speaker 2: it's like mahomes ice it up, shoot it up, whatever
- 4:26Speaker 2: you gotta do. Roll it out there. We're playing. We
- 4:28Speaker 2: got to win this game against it. Josh Allen is
- 4:32Speaker 2: Superman right now, and I want us to appreciate what
- 4:34Speaker 2: he's doing, how he's getting better as the weeks are
- 4:37Speaker 2: going on. He is your MVP. We made a faint
- 4:41Speaker 2: attempt and a good effort back when the Eagles beat
- 4:44Speaker 2: the Rams on a Sunday night and say one out
- 4:46Speaker 2: three under scrimmage yards to say this could be Saquon's ord.
- 4:48Speaker 2: It's not. It's Josh Allen. It's over. It's done. Put
- 4:51Speaker 2: it in bed. We'll see an NFL honors on. We
- 4:53Speaker 2: won't because you'll be preparing for the super Bowl in
- 4:55Speaker 2: two days. Alan. In addition to all the fourteen total
- 4:58Speaker 2: touchdowns in the last three games, guys, he's only thrown five
- 5:00Speaker 2: interceptions the whole season. He's been great with the ball.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Last night was a master piece. The two handed touch
- 5:07Speaker 2: pass that was taken back. All the stuff was great.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I looked at the athletic this morning. I give a
- 5:12Speaker 2: read to that every Monday morning. Let's go around Ty
- 5:15Speaker 2: Johnson in the locker room. He's mythical Dawson Knox. I'm
- 5:19Speaker 2: simply a fan. And yet I go back to July.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I go back to July on this show, and I
- 5:25Speaker 2: was throwing a hysterical fit that Patrick Mahomes wasn't voted
- 5:29Speaker 2: the number one player on the NFL Top I remember
- 5:31Speaker 2: on Hysterical Mahomes was voted fourth or third and Tyreek
- 5:36Speaker 2: Hill was one, and I thought that was the most
- 5:37Speaker 2: ludicrous thing in the world. Do you know where Josh
- 5:39Speaker 2: Allen finished this year in the top one hundred from
- 5:42Speaker 2: the NFL network's top one hundred players. We didn't even
- 5:45Speaker 2: include him in the top ten. I say, we the
- 5:47Speaker 2: NFL players vote on it, but we had a network
- 5:49Speaker 2: to put it on. And there wasn't hysteria, there wasn't
- 5:52Speaker 2: mass outrage. I threw a fit through a fit when
- 5:55Speaker 2: Mahomes was given the indignity of number four. Josh Allen
- 5:59Speaker 2: was voted number twelve this year going in so don't
- 6:02Speaker 2: act like this, says, oh, well, this was the prince
- 6:04Speaker 2: to be promised. And Josh, what we're seeing right now
- 6:06Speaker 2: is not only a historic season from Josh Allen as
- 6:09Speaker 2: a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. No Bills quarterback has
- 6:11Speaker 2: ever done this, but it's also one that is slightly unexpected.
- 6:16Speaker 2: And he has taken the league by storm. And this
- 6:18Speaker 2: happens to be the same year where he lost Stefon
- 6:21Speaker 2: Diggs and lost Gabe Davis, and I believe it is
- 6:23Speaker 2: a audition by subtraction. The way he's playing so free
- 6:26Speaker 2: and the way that so many people are eating on
- 6:28Speaker 2: that field. Philly as we're watching Detroit and Buffalo and
- 6:33Speaker 2: we're doing the Hao, Philly will just beat the crap
- 6:36Speaker 2: at you and they're gonna get you in a in
- 6:38Speaker 2: a phone booth and they're gonna punch you in the face.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And I'm like, now, try to leave the phone booth.
- 6:41Speaker 2: You can't. That's how they win. And it's like, what's
- 6:43Speaker 2: a phone? After reading the Yellow Pages, this is like
- 6:49Speaker 2: the toughest team inside the Steelers. You're talking Cam Hayward
- 6:53Speaker 2: and TJ. Watt and all those big boys and Hi
- 6:55Speaker 2: and they just beat him up yesterday and and I
- 6:57Speaker 2: don't want to get twisted. This was a very close
- 6:59Speaker 2: game at one point, and Cooper Dejan had a bad fumble,
- 7:02Speaker 2: Hurts made a mistake early and like the Eagles were
- 7:04Speaker 2: able to dig out of it. But this whole against
- 7:06Speaker 2: I can't really get around this hole. It's us against
- 7:09Speaker 2: the world thing like AJ Brown, you're the one who
- 7:12Speaker 2: said what you said last week. And then Brandon Graham
- 7:15Speaker 2: is a teammate of viewers, He's the one who made
- 7:17Speaker 2: it a national story. We the media didn't do anything.
- 7:20Speaker 2: And then just as we want to do the whole
- 7:22Speaker 2: it's us against the world, we're gonna galvanize. What's the
- 7:24Speaker 2: clip we have this morning. This is Clin Hurt, the
- 7:27Speaker 2: defensive line coach and Nick Sirianni. Sirianni wanted to talk
- 7:29Speaker 2: to Jalen Carter and Dom's involved and like keep your distance, coach,
- 7:34Speaker 2: like we're good. Those are two coaches having words like
- 7:37Speaker 2: we're not the ones doing this Philly, Like this isn't us,
- 7:41Speaker 2: We're not the ones who are who are making this happen,
- 7:44Speaker 2: Like the cameras caught it, but there's gonna be more
- 7:47Speaker 2: questions on that, and that's gonna be a story this week,
- 7:49Speaker 2: and maybe that feeds and fieldsy But like, I like
- 7:52Speaker 2: this Eagles team a lot because they play a different
- 7:54Speaker 2: style than the rest of these you know, Star Wars
- 7:56Speaker 2: teams that just throw the ball up in the air,
- 7:57Speaker 2: and I think that really works in January. I'm not
- 7:59Speaker 2: sure I can do the whole it's Us against the
- 8:01Speaker 2: World thing because I'm watching it in real time that
- 8:05Speaker 2: there definitely seems to be some sort of interfire and
- 8:08Speaker 2: conflict during these games and after these games, and then
- 8:10Speaker 2: maybe they use that to motivate. So I don't know,
- 8:13Speaker 2: Let's see what happens with that story with Sirianni and
- 8:15Speaker 2: a great defensive line coach, because I didn't make that happen,
- 8:18Speaker 2: and I know my colleagues on the show didn't. Necessarily,
- 8:21Speaker 2: I didn't do it. Yeah, I know that promintly, Mike
- 8:24Speaker 2: Evans is going to cat and he had my game
- 8:26Speaker 2: ball for it. Yes, Today Mike Evans was unbelievable one
- 8:29Speaker 2: hundred and fifty nine yards, nine catches, two touchdowns as
- 8:34Speaker 2: the Buccaneers absolutely blow out the Chargers. Evans absolute baller.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Look at what he's done here most seasons with one
- 8:42Speaker 2: thousand receiving yards fourteen for Jerry Rights Evan the second
- 8:46Speaker 2: Tyraebouth and guess what he just needs two hundred and
- 8:50Speaker 2: fifty one receiving yards well the last three games averaging
- 8:54Speaker 2: eighty four yards per game to get it for the
- 8:57Speaker 2: eleventh time, and that would be every season of his
- 8:59Speaker 2: NFL career. Mike Evans, you balled out when they needed
- 9:03Speaker 2: your most. You always do. This has been with Jamis,
- 9:07Speaker 2: this has been with McCown, this has been with Brady,
- 9:10Speaker 2: and now it's with Baker. We see you, Mike Evans.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I have the utmost respect, especially coming off the injury
- 9:16Speaker 2: the way he has. Yeah, I look at the Packers
- 9:20Speaker 2: and they just dominated Seattle in Seattle, and that's a
- 9:22Speaker 2: good win for the Packers. It's a horrible loss for
- 9:24Speaker 2: the Seahawks and they started off so slow, even when
- 9:26Speaker 2: Gino Smith was healthy. They were down fourteen to nothing.
- 9:29Speaker 2: And then I look at that NFC West, this is
- 9:31Speaker 2: the Rams division to lose. Now, Rams remaining schedule at
- 9:35Speaker 2: the Jets has to be a win. Can't drop the
- 9:38Speaker 2: ball there. I know that Rogers looked good yesterday, and
- 9:41Speaker 2: then home against the Cardinals, who have not looked wonderful
- 9:46Speaker 2: this month, and then home against the Seahawks. The Rams
- 9:50Speaker 2: a team that we all rode off. We thought after
- 9:53Speaker 2: that Miami Monday night loss and after the Sunday night
- 9:55Speaker 2: loss to Philly, and of course we know they lost
- 9:57Speaker 2: to the Bears in Chicago this year. Didn't look like
- 10:00Speaker 2: they had it in the carts. But they are now
- 10:02Speaker 2: seven and two. When Cooper Cup and Poka Nakua are
- 10:06Speaker 2: in the lineup and healthy, the Rams to me stand
- 10:09Speaker 2: out as one of those teams in the wildcard. If
- 10:10Speaker 2: they get there as a division winner, well, they have
- 10:12Speaker 2: a home playoff game. I don't know, if I'm Philly
- 10:15Speaker 2: in Detroit if I would love seeing the Rams in
- 10:18Speaker 2: the second round or Minnesota. I hit to insult Minnesota.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I don't want to see the Rams coming to town
- 10:22Speaker 2: the second week of the playoffs. That's not a team
- 10:24Speaker 2: I want to see the divisional round where the Super
- 10:26Speaker 2: Bowl winning quarterback in Super Bowl winning coach. All right,
- 10:43Speaker 2: it's Schrager's Fab five. We give the top five rookie
- 10:46Speaker 2: performances of the week some love. It was a really
- 10:49Speaker 2: interesting week with a lot of great performances, but how
- 10:51Speaker 2: do we stack them up. We're gonna start off with
- 10:53Speaker 2: number five. Down in Jacksonville for the second straight week,
- 10:56Speaker 2: Brian Thomas Junior makes the list. They were up against
- 10:58Speaker 2: the Jets. They lost the game in dramatic fashion, but
- 11:01Speaker 2: Thomas was awesome again. Ten catches, one five five receiving yards,
- 11:07Speaker 2: two receiving touchdowns. Brian Thomas is becoming the Fantasy football
- 11:11Speaker 2: like must start, maybe the most consistent receiver in the league.
- 11:15Speaker 2: He's the sixth rookie in the first since Jamar Chase
- 11:17Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl era with ten catches, one hundred
- 11:20Speaker 2: receiving yards, and two touchdown catches in a single game.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Brian Thomas is that dude. He's got sixty four catches,
- 11:28Speaker 2: nearly one thousand receiving yards, and eight receiving touchdowns in
- 11:31Speaker 2: twenty twenty four. That makes him third in receptions, second
- 11:35Speaker 2: in receiving yards, and first in touchdowns among all rookies.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Very rarely to put a guy from a losing team
- 11:42Speaker 2: on here, and I'm telling you this guy is going
- 11:45Speaker 2: to be a star. Number four. Welcome back to the list.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Jayden Daniels, you got the win and that's why you're
- 11:51Speaker 2: on here. You also had an outstanding first half of
- 11:54Speaker 2: this game. Jayden Daniels came out and the New Orleans
- 11:56Speaker 2: Saints defense could not stop that Washington Commander's offense. He
- 12:00Speaker 2: also had one of the cooler touchdown passes of the weekend.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Let's go to the broadcast where Kenny Albert and Jonathan
- 12:07Speaker 2: Vilma were on the call.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Actor backfield watch again, dad Us rookie Vin Tullis left
- 12:14Speaker 3: all the crusher staveshnisteet turn down Joannis Corn for a
- 12:21Speaker 3: touchdown by mcclura. Terry mccluord coming up big for Jaden Daniels.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I was like, where is he throwing this football? I
- 12:28Speaker 2: thought this was one of those rookie mistakes and outcomes.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Terry mclauurin with the touchdown twenty five of thirty one,
- 12:36Speaker 2: two hundred and twenty six passing yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions,
- 12:40Speaker 2: also ran for sixty six yards. Jaden Daniels, He's like,
- 12:44Speaker 2: don't give that offensive rookie of the year ward to
- 12:46Speaker 2: Bowers or to Knicks just yet. I still can do it.
- 12:50Speaker 2: The Commanders are firmly in that playoff picture. Let's take
- 12:54Speaker 2: a midst here. If you want to see something cool
- 12:56Speaker 2: about comparison, say rookies with three thousand passing yards and
- 13:00Speaker 2: five hundred rushing yards in a season. It's a short
- 13:03Speaker 2: list guy. The other three guys all one offensive rookie
- 13:06Speaker 2: of the year. Jaden's already done it. He's got three
- 13:08Speaker 2: more games to go. How far Handy go, We'll see
- 13:11Speaker 2: he's having an outstanding rookie season. Number three, we go
- 13:14Speaker 2: to the defensive side of the ball and we go
- 13:16Speaker 2: to Sunday night. Who was the difference maker on the
- 13:19Speaker 2: field and it was Packers linebacker Edderyn Cooper. Let's take
- 13:24Speaker 2: a look at what Eddard Cooper did in this game.
- 13:26Speaker 2: All over the field, seven tackles, a sack, and this
- 13:30Speaker 2: key interception in this game of Geno Smith. He was
- 13:34Speaker 2: all over the place. He's only the third rookie since
- 13:38Speaker 2: twenty ten in a game to have a sack and
- 13:40Speaker 2: an interception under the lights, prime time games.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Unbelievable performance from Eddering Cooper number fifty six. He's been
- 13:47Speaker 4: all over the field and he is on a rookie
- 13:49Speaker 4: defense that also includes Evan Williams the safety, and they
- 13:52Speaker 4: have so many other young guys on this roster.
- 13:54Speaker 2: The youngest team in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers.
- 13:57Speaker 2: They have just another guy, edgern Cooper doing the job.
- 14:01Speaker 2: And yet he is in our highest rated defensive rookie
- 14:04Speaker 2: because there was a player in that Texans the Dolphins
- 14:06Speaker 2: game who made maybe the play of the game. We're
- 14:09Speaker 2: talking about Houston Texan safety Kaylan Bullock. Kaylen Bullock's been
- 14:13Speaker 2: outstanding all season. Let's go to Kevin Harlan for the
- 14:16Speaker 2: call on Kaylan Bullock's big play in this one.
- 14:19Speaker 5: Second and six Ikenberg a buy and it's picked up
- 14:22Speaker 5: for the play breakdown, Big Bullock, here's time. I don't
- 14:27Speaker 5: know if you're gonna get him. Here comes at ten
- 14:30Speaker 5: Burgos Bullock to the five. A huge defensial playing. I
- 14:36Speaker 5: love Kaylan Bullock all right. Third round pick out of
- 14:38Speaker 5: Southern California. Okay, so big star, nickname super Glue.
- 14:43Speaker 2: That what they call him, super Glue, and that's what
- 14:46Speaker 2: he does. Here an awesome game here. He had all
- 14:48Speaker 2: sorts of pass breakups, guys, six tackles, the big pass
- 14:51Speaker 2: breakup interception return you saw, guys. He leads all rookies
- 14:55Speaker 2: right now with interceptions. Super Glue's got five five picks
- 14:59Speaker 2: for a rookie that's unheard of. Tarheb still is. For
- 15:02Speaker 2: the course, We've given all these guys love throughout the season.
- 15:05Speaker 2: They've all been on this This is Calin Bullock's first
- 15:08Speaker 2: time on the list. He's going to be playing Saturday
- 15:11Speaker 2: against the Kansas City Chiefs where he can maybe intercept
- 15:14Speaker 2: Carson Wentz. All right, let's see, I could be Mahomes.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I don't know. We'll get to that number one though.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Let's go to our rookie of the week, the number
- 15:21Speaker 2: one player on a team that put up five hundred
- 15:23Speaker 2: yards of offense, two hundred yards rushing and absolutely demoralized
- 15:27Speaker 2: the number one defense in the league. Our number one
- 15:30Speaker 2: rookie for Week fifteen is Bucky the Duck. Let's see
- 15:34Speaker 2: Bucky Irvy highlights. Bucky Irvy seven fantastic yet again, guys
- 15:41Speaker 2: fifteen carries one hundred and seventeen yard dash to the
- 15:45Speaker 2: Chargers defense. The Bucks are four and oh. When Irving
- 15:49Speaker 2: gets one hundred rushing yards or more, that's just the
- 15:51Speaker 2: truth of it. When they rush this guy, he wins.
- 15:54Speaker 2: He leads all rookies with eight hundred and fifty two
- 15:56Speaker 2: rushing yards. He's got six rushing touchdowns. Guys, his one
- 16:00Speaker 2: one hundred and forty eight scrimit yards are the most
- 16:04Speaker 2: bio rookie out of Oregon in the history of game.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Think about all the rookies out of Oregon over the years.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Number two Leagarrett Blunt, who also did it for the
- 16:13Speaker 2: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Number seven Bucket the Duck and Oregon Duck.
- 16:17Speaker 2: They're gonna go up against someone in the College Football
- 16:20Speaker 2: Tournament in two weeks and we'll go down. We'll go
- 16:22Speaker 2: big on it. But this is the list. If you
- 16:25Speaker 2: had told me before the season started at this city
- 16:27Speaker 2: the list for Week fifteen, I'd say, you're crazy. That
- 16:30Speaker 2: is too eclectic, too weird, too random. That's what we get.
- 16:34Speaker 2: That's why we do the list the Fab five. Every
- 16:37Speaker 2: more Nay morning, we hand out the coach of the
- 16:39Speaker 2: week who or it could be a head coach, could
- 16:41Speaker 2: be an assistant, could be a coordinator. This week we
- 16:43Speaker 2: go to Los Angeles, where the guy who really made
- 16:47Speaker 2: his NFL resume, bolstered in Los Angeles for years under
- 16:50Speaker 2: Sean McVay, came back home and absolutely lit up the
- 16:53Speaker 2: LA Chargers. Our coach of the week is Buccaneers offensive
- 16:56Speaker 2: coordinator Liam.
- 16:57Speaker 6: O'wellia the Bucks offense yesterday, I scored forty points, did
- 17:02Speaker 6: not punt once, and racked up five hundred and six
- 17:06Speaker 6: yards of offense on Jesse Minter's vaunted Chargers d Bucky
- 17:10Speaker 6: Irving had one hundred and seventeen yards.
- 17:12Speaker 2: The Bucks ran for two hundred and twenty three yards,
- 17:15Speaker 2: and they went nine to fifteen on third down. Baker
- 17:18Speaker 2: Mayfield only had five incomplete passes and the team again
- 17:23Speaker 2: did not punt. Liam Cohen, Remember Dave Knalis was the
- 17:27Speaker 2: OC last year, he gets a head coaching job with Carolina.
- 17:30Speaker 2: They hired Liam Cohen as the OC and Liam Cohen's
- 17:34Speaker 2: team look at these numbers yesterday against a good Chargers
- 17:38Speaker 2: defense in LA. What to say at bottom offeter zero punts?
- 17:44Speaker 2: Liam Cohen, get to know his name well. It is
- 17:46Speaker 2: going to start popping up in a lot of head
- 17:48Speaker 2: coaching conversations over the next several weeks. I can tell
- 17:52Speaker 2: you now makes a lot of sense with the Jets,
- 17:54Speaker 2: makes a lot of sense with the Saints, makes a
- 17:56Speaker 2: lot of sense with the Bears, and it'll make a
- 17:58Speaker 2: lot of sense with any team looking to get an
- 18:00Speaker 2: offensive bump and some good quarterback coaching for their quarterback,
- 18:04Speaker 2: Liam Cohen. Of course with Stafford was that at Kentucky,
- 18:08Speaker 2: went back to la and then of course is now
- 18:11Speaker 2: in Tampa. Liam Cohen, yes, the offensive coordinator of the
- 18:14Speaker 2: Tambay Buccaneers, is our coach of the week. Two weeks ago.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I reported on Fox NFL Kickoff two weeks ago with
- 18:21Speaker 2: shock that despite not throwing a touchdown in three weeks
- 18:24Speaker 2: or having all these interceptions, that Kirk Cousins still was
- 18:27Speaker 2: getting number one reps and Michael Pennix wasn't being used.
- 18:29Speaker 2: That was two weeks ago. Since then, they lost another
- 18:32Speaker 2: bad game, and then they just got by a terrible
- 18:34Speaker 2: Raiders team in a terrible game on Monday night where
- 18:37Speaker 2: Cousins couldn't move. So you're looking at Kirk Cousins and
- 18:41Speaker 2: again this is like that you have to say this.
- 18:43Speaker 2: We like Kirk Cousins. We all like Kirk Cousins. They
- 18:47Speaker 2: love Kirk Cousins. You saw the Vikings players and how
- 18:50Speaker 2: they responded to seeing Kirk Cousins two weeks ago. They
- 18:53Speaker 2: love Kirk Cousins. He's not able to play quarterback at
- 18:56Speaker 2: the moment. I don't know if it's age. I think
- 18:58Speaker 2: it's coming off the Achilles Not everyone's a miracle man
- 19:01Speaker 2: and can get back. So what do we do now, Well,
- 19:03Speaker 2: we could still salvage the season. There's three games less
- 19:06Speaker 2: Michael Pennison. He hasn't had first team reps all year.
- 19:08Speaker 2: He hasn't seen the field very often, only in blowouts,
- 19:12Speaker 2: so he hasn't even got in on spot. Dude, you're
- 19:14Speaker 2: putting a lot of pressure on him to go and
- 19:16Speaker 2: save the day, especially because they're behind Tampa in the standings.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Long and short of it is, Kirk cousins time with
- 19:21Speaker 2: Atlanta is likely done if he gets injured. Now they're
- 19:24Speaker 2: on the hook for an extra you know, so on
- 19:26Speaker 2: million dollars. They don't want to see him on the
- 19:28Speaker 2: field because of all the guarantees, and you can't get
- 19:31Speaker 2: him because of the injury stuff. He likely will not
- 19:33Speaker 2: be on the Falcons after March because of what the
- 19:37Speaker 2: salary capstenuates. He could be traded, but he's got no
- 19:40Speaker 2: trade clause, so it'd have to go to a place
- 19:42Speaker 2: he wants to go to. Can't imagine a great team
- 19:44Speaker 2: is looking to trade for Kirk Cousins at the moment,
- 19:46Speaker 2: which puts you in this thing where you're probably gonna
- 19:48Speaker 2: get cut, which means that the Falcons will have paid
- 19:51Speaker 2: ninety million dollars to Kirk Cousins for fourteen weeks of
- 19:56Speaker 2: NFL action, and fourteen weeks that does not even have
- 20:00Speaker 2: them in the playoff position right now. One of the
- 20:02Speaker 2: strangest situations we've seen with a veteran cour her back.
- 20:07Speaker 2: But they're pulling the plug, and as financially committed as
- 20:10Speaker 2: they are, they might have been too financially committed, because
- 20:12Speaker 2: I think the last two weeks, everyone watching at home
- 20:15Speaker 2: and everyone around the league knew that Goose was cooked.
- 20:17Speaker 2: It was probably time to go to Pennix then before
- 20:18Speaker 2: the season's almost lost. As someone who travels every single
- 20:22Speaker 2: weekend during the football season and takes my little carry
- 20:25Speaker 2: on bag and my little backpack that says NFL media
- 20:28Speaker 2: on it, and I go to the airport and I
- 20:29Speaker 2: go to it, and I'm professional. I have my spots.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I go in, I get, I get to my airport.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I go to my little kiosk, I get my thing.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I go I wait to get You're all amateurs, and
- 20:38Speaker 2: I know you're coming. Just get out of my way.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I know you're coming. The airport from December twenty second
- 20:43Speaker 2: to January second, it is like it's like sodom and gomoor.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I want nothing to do with it. And it's just
- 20:48Speaker 2: that's the world is melting, and everyone's the first time
- 20:51Speaker 2: they've ever been inside an airport. They have their three kids,
- 20:53Speaker 2: they're all sick, they all have tissues. Then they get
- 20:56Speaker 2: on the plane and it's like the plane lands and
- 21:00Speaker 2: the guy sitting in thirty seventy and he sprints to
- 21:02Speaker 2: the front and then his wife though, has her bag
- 21:05Speaker 2: all the way back, so she gotta go back to
- 21:08Speaker 2: It's amateur hour. I know New York's Eve is supposed
- 21:10Speaker 2: to be amateur night, Amateur hour at the airport. Just
- 21:13Speaker 2: get out of the way. Just try to make this
- 21:15Speaker 2: as easy and seamless as possible for everybody. I beg
- 21:18Speaker 2: of you, Thank you.
