- 0:49Speaker 4: I am also a huge fan of you. This is
- 0:51Speaker 4: our second recording in a couple of days.
- 0:54Speaker 2: It is twever hours.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I love seeing you, I know, so tell people little
- 1:00Speaker 1: bit about you.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Okay, my name is my Leek. I am a serial entrepreneur.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I am a mom of two six year old son
- 1:09Speaker 2: and my daughter will be four this summer. And so
- 1:12Speaker 2: I am I don't know. I've started businesses and once
- 1:17Speaker 2: I became a parent, I started an online community because
- 1:20Speaker 2: I'm just like, there is no way I should be
- 1:23Speaker 2: doing this alone. I need to be cheating off somebody's paper.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Someone has to have done this already. It's like, where
- 1:31Speaker 2: is my village?
- 1:32Speaker 4: And yeah, you were like, it's not here, So I'm
- 1:33Speaker 4: making it. So I'm making it, making it and it's
- 1:36Speaker 4: a good it's a good village.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good time. It's a good time.
- 1:40Speaker 4: And what are you excited about what's your next big
- 1:41Speaker 4: thing that you're excited about.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Next big thing. I don't know. This is I have
- 1:47Speaker 2: worked forever and so I took kind of a year off,
- 1:52Speaker 2: and so the year kind of comes to an end
- 1:56Speaker 2: and a couple like maybe in a couple of weeks,
- 1:58Speaker 2: and I need to just talk to my wealth manager.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I think I need to extend. But it's just been
- 2:02Speaker 2: nice lung coffees with friends, you know, not constantly in
- 2:06Speaker 2: go go go mode, and so I don't know, I
- 2:10Speaker 2: have to get back to work, be clear. But now
- 2:13Speaker 2: I'm just doing what I want. That sounds that sounds amazing.
- 2:17Speaker 4: My sabbatical is also coming to an end in two weeks,
- 2:19Speaker 4: but it hasn't been very relaxing. No, yeah, all right,
- 2:25Speaker 4: tell me what your what is your late.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Night panic Google?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Okay, my most recent late night panic Google? Is my
- 2:35Speaker 2: daughter around like at the end of the day, for
- 2:39Speaker 2: she was complaining that her butt was itching, you know,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and so I'm like, you know, every day, and so
- 2:48Speaker 2: I'm talking to one of my friends about it, like
- 2:50Speaker 2: she's always talking about her butts itching, and my friend's like, oh,
- 2:52Speaker 2: she probably has pinworms, yep. And I was like, what
- 2:58Speaker 2: so I go on Google. I don't know if.
- 3:01Speaker 4: You've ever googled pinwords many many times, I was just like.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I have reached This is when I go into the
- 3:11Speaker 2: online community and I'm like, I have reached my lowest
- 3:14Speaker 2: point as a parent. Because my friend's like, if you
- 3:17Speaker 2: really want to find out if she has them, like
- 3:19Speaker 2: it needs to be kind of late at night and
- 3:21Speaker 2: like get your flashlight and like look in her butt.
- 3:24Speaker 2: And so it's like eleven o'clock at night. Me and
- 3:27Speaker 2: dad are just like, oh god, exactly. And that is
- 3:34Speaker 2: my like late night panic Google of just like oh
- 3:38Speaker 2: my god, you know, I have to wash every single thing.
- 3:42Speaker 2: And we had just gone through a life situation which,
- 3:47Speaker 2: as an African American woman has not was not really
- 3:51Speaker 2: on my radar. And so there was just like a
- 3:54Speaker 2: nice outbreak at her school all but like two kids
- 3:58Speaker 2: in the class had it. And then now her bud's
- 4:01Speaker 2: itching at night, and.
- 4:03Speaker 1: So well let me okay.
- 4:07Speaker 4: So pinworms is a great light pana google because it's
- 4:10Speaker 4: the grossest it has a night, but fortunately it's like
- 4:15Speaker 4: a it's like a short term, it's very fixable. Yeah,
- 4:19Speaker 4: here's here's a fact about forty percent of people have
- 4:22Speaker 4: pinworms at any given time.
- 4:24Speaker 1: That's what everyone's got them. Pinworms are just around.
- 4:27Speaker 4: They're in, they're in you maybe forty chance, but most
- 4:32Speaker 4: of the time it doesn't bother people.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Only when there gets to be enough pinworms, okay, do.
- 4:37Speaker 4: They start to hatch, and so they they they lay
- 4:42Speaker 4: eggs and then they will hatch. And then what what's
- 4:45Speaker 4: itching is the adult pinworms that like to come into
- 4:48Speaker 4: your butt at night.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And and I actually.
- 4:55Speaker 4: So you said you google them, which is which is
- 4:59Speaker 4: not I necessarily recommended, But I will tell you that
- 5:03Speaker 4: if you are watching a child poop and they have pinworms,
- 5:07Speaker 4: you can often see the pinworms moving around in the
- 5:13Speaker 4: poop and that will be a good sign that they
- 5:15Speaker 4: have them.
- 5:16Speaker 1: But is also like a parenting low for me.
- 5:20Speaker 4: That is, I would say, it's like tied with holding
- 5:24Speaker 4: the bucket while they vomit for the forty third time,
- 5:27Speaker 4: Like that's those are like my two kind of just
- 5:30Speaker 4: like they're just like they're lows.
- 5:32Speaker 2: They are. But I think I saw you say that
- 5:35Speaker 2: that's when you feel like most.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Yet with the vomiting, it's when I feel most like
- 5:39Speaker 4: the mom with the pinworms.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I don't feel like that. I just feel really really
- 5:44Speaker 1: grossed out.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I don't know, I didn't. I feel I feel like
- 5:48Speaker 2: when I was a kid, there was like chicken box
- 5:51Speaker 2: and like strap through and now I was just like,
- 5:55Speaker 2: was I on a different planet? Because why do.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I will say I did have pinworms as a kid. See,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I don't I remember pinworms.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I don't know. But it's like handfoot in mouth, pinworms, lice.
- 6:08Speaker 2: These are just all things that I didn't have, and
- 6:11Speaker 2: I didn't know anybody who had these things.
- 6:14Speaker 4: So okay, so let's before we move off of pinworms,
- 6:17Speaker 4: not that we're not hoping to get off of it.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Here is what you do if you have pinworms. So well,
- 6:22Speaker 4: they are generally not preventable. So kids are getting them
- 6:24Speaker 4: because they dig in the dirt and they put them
- 6:26Speaker 4: in their mouth.
- 6:26Speaker 1: It's just it is what it is. People are getting pinworms.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Sometimes you're gonna have pinworms. Sorry.
- 6:32Speaker 4: You can diagnose them if you see them in the poop.
- 6:35Speaker 4: If late at night you can, they will they are
- 6:39Speaker 4: more likely to come out. And so you could go
- 6:42Speaker 4: look at your kids butt in the middle of the night.
- 6:44Speaker 4: You can put a piece of tape over there butt
- 6:47Speaker 4: to see like if some eggs end up on it
- 6:50Speaker 4: in the morning. That's people that like to sleep a
- 6:52Speaker 4: tape on their butt.
- 6:53Speaker 1: So I is like a little bit of a trade
- 6:55Speaker 1: off there.
- 6:56Speaker 4: But if your kid has pinworms, it is very easily treatable.
- 7:00Speaker 4: There is a medicine over the counter tastes like bananas.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Take it up, everybody takes it right. Then you take
- 7:07Speaker 4: it again two weeks like it'll fix it in a day.
- 7:10Speaker 4: You take it again two weeks later to make sure
- 7:12Speaker 4: everybody's dead penworms, and then that's and then that's it.
- 7:16Speaker 4: And in some ways it's a very reassuring moment because
- 7:20Speaker 4: it's so gross, but then you can much easier to.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Fix them lice.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's like a it's like a you could
- 7:27Speaker 4: feel a sense of accomplishment.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah. And I don't know, I feel like I should
- 7:30Speaker 2: just share this with you. I don't know if you
- 7:31Speaker 2: know about the lice in Georgia where I am, all
- 7:34Speaker 2: of the lice is super lice. So what does that mean.
- 7:38Speaker 2: That means that no medication will work on them. They
- 7:42Speaker 2: just have to be constantly combed out. My gosh, I know.
- 7:47Speaker 4: You should be in this is something somebody should This
- 7:49Speaker 4: should be your next entrepreneur thing.
- 7:51Speaker 1: You got to develop a treatment for super lice.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Oh, they've got a business called the Lice Ladies. They're
- 7:56Speaker 2: like looked forever because they.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Show off at your house and they yeah.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Because no, not even they said, not even prescription medication
- 8:04Speaker 2: can get rid of super nice here in Georgia. So
- 8:08Speaker 2: it's fun down here.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Wow, do you feel like these just the idea of
- 8:14Speaker 4: your kid having bugs is like a pretty it's just
- 8:18Speaker 4: it's it's uncomfortable.
- 8:20Speaker 2: It is very uncomfortable. It's just like it's enough to
- 8:23Speaker 2: have a child, but then when they have bugs that
- 8:27Speaker 2: are on their bodies or you know, it's just it's
- 8:31Speaker 2: a that was this is a hard one for me.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think it's also pinworms. Actually the thing
- 8:36Speaker 4: I that I really don't like about them is that
- 8:39Speaker 4: then they don't want the kid. He doesn't want to
- 8:40Speaker 4: go to sleep, and then like the one the first
- 8:42Speaker 4: time my son had them, he was like so sad
- 8:44Speaker 4: and he was so tired of his buttage and he
- 8:46Speaker 4: couldn't go to sleep, and it was just like a
- 8:47Speaker 4: very like, you know, you don't want your kid to be.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You don't or my daughter she'll say, does my butt
- 8:54Speaker 2: have worms?
- 8:54Speaker 4: And it's just like, oh gosh, that's actually I think
- 8:57Speaker 4: that's a difference to you boys and girls, because I
- 8:59Speaker 4: feel like when boys have it, they're just.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Like, does my butt have worms? Let me let me?
- 9:03Speaker 1: Can you see them?
- 9:04Speaker 3: Let me see them?
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's but then it's I also felt kind
- 9:09Speaker 2: of low, like I can't believe I'm on I'm I'm
- 9:12Speaker 2: on Google looking at people's buttoles.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Right, yeah, but that's parenting. That's that's late night parenting,
- 9:21Speaker 4: just getting on your Google. So I will say, here's
- 9:24Speaker 4: my big takeaway from this discussion, other than I Am
- 9:27Speaker 4: not moving to the super licee, is to remind people
- 9:30Speaker 4: that you should have pinworm medication in your house.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yes, this is.
- 9:34Speaker 4: A thing, like get it on get some on Amazon,
- 9:37Speaker 4: put it in your cabinet, and then if this happens
- 9:40Speaker 4: at night, you can just like treat your kid because
- 9:43Speaker 4: the thing you really don't want is to be like
- 9:45Speaker 4: putting your kid to bed with an itchy butt. Know what,
- 9:47Speaker 4: You're going to be doing it again the next day
- 9:48Speaker 4: because you haven't gotten the medication.
- 9:50Speaker 1: This is just like treat.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Them, yeah, and just get it, just have it, because
- 9:55Speaker 2: it's hard. It's that thing where if you try to
- 9:57Speaker 2: like get it online. It's not one of the overnight situations.
- 10:00Speaker 1: The Amazon's that are overnighting you this time.
- 10:02Speaker 4: So you just like, if you're listening to this, buy
- 10:05Speaker 4: some reasons banana flavor pinworm medication right now, get a
- 10:08Speaker 4: ship to your house.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And just have it and just have Here's what I
- 10:11Speaker 2: learned when I share this in my community is that
- 10:13Speaker 2: in some I think some people that are from Jamaican
- 10:17Speaker 2: and Trinidadian that this is culturally to go. This is
- 10:20Speaker 2: a back to school kind of ritual that like everyone
- 10:24Speaker 2: takes this medication to like to kind of like cleanse
- 10:27Speaker 2: from the summer.
- 10:28Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, it could be a good it could
- 10:32Speaker 4: be a good idea.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Just.
- 10:36Speaker 4: So there is a question about whether one could, like
- 10:39Speaker 4: would it work to take this preventively, And I think
- 10:41Speaker 4: it like if, I mean it could in the sense
- 10:43Speaker 4: that like that is what you do with the rest
- 10:45Speaker 4: of your family. So if one of your kids has this,
- 10:47Speaker 4: everyone has to take it because you probably are harboring
- 10:51Speaker 4: we're all kind of harboring pinworms, and so you want.
- 10:55Speaker 2: To Yeah, I don't know having children, just like it
- 10:59Speaker 2: has its mondaught me how gross like the human experience
- 11:02Speaker 2: can be.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Ah Yeah, it's a lot of bodily fluids.
- 11:07Speaker 2: You know, it is it is, It's a lot in
- 11:10Speaker 2: the stomach.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Bug.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It's just I don't remember this either. I feel like
- 11:14Speaker 2: we at least four or five times a year. This
- 11:17Speaker 2: seems like a thing.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Yeah, so fortunately gets better when they get bigger. Your
- 11:21Speaker 4: kids are little, it gets better when they get bigger.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Might haven't been second a while, So.
- 11:25Speaker 2: This is what I hear, but I'm not convinced.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Right well, you just have to You'll know it when
- 11:31Speaker 1: you You'll know it when you see it.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, when they when these things slow down, when they
- 11:37Speaker 2: slow down.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Well, thank you very much for sharing
- 11:41Speaker 4: the warm story with me.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yes, everyone is.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Everyone is better for it.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just yet another thing to be concerned about
- 11:48Speaker 2: as a parent. I had never heard of this until
- 11:53Speaker 2: I got a Google surprise.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Okay, thank you, by course, Bye bye
- 12:00Speaker 3: Four
