- 0:05Welcome to Health, Life and What's Next.
- 0:08with Dr.
- 0:08Jennifer Ginty.
- 0:10This is the podcast where we explore what it really means to live well through honest conversations about health, life, business, and everything in between.
- 0:22Because remember, healing is about more than medicine.
- 0:26I'm so glad you are here.
- 0:29Let's get into today's conversation Yesterday, I taught the Connected Dots masterclass, which was very powerful.
- 0:38The information released was never heard before.
- 0:42Things that I've never talked about before, how I think when a patient is sitting across from me.
- 0:49As I'm sitting here just evaluating, looking, and thinking about all the things that happened yesterday, there's one thought I haven't been able to stop thinking about.
- 0:58A lot of people are spending money trying to feel better before anyone has clearly answered one question, and that is what exactly are we trying to figure out?
- 1:11Think about how often health decisions happen in reverse.
- 1:15Someone feels exhausted, they go buy something for energy.
- 1:19Somebody has digestive issues or changes, so they remove foods, or they go to the GI doctor and get a pill.
- 1:27Sleep changes, they add something for sleep.
- 1:30Labs come back, so another medications or supplement get added.
- 1:35And none of those decision is automatically wrong, but here's the question I want people asking more often.
- 1:43Why this intervention for this person right now?
- 1:48What are we expecting it to change?
- 1:51What will the response teach us?
- 1:53That is such an important distinction.
- 1:56Because when you make health decision without a clear question, you can spend a lot of time, money, and energy doing things without actually learning very much from them.
- 2:09Let me give you an example.
- 2:11Imagine someone starts three medications, six supplements, removes gluten and dairy, starts intermittent fasting, changes her exercise routine, and adds hormone therapy within a few weeks.
- 2:24Three months later, she feels thirty percent better.
- 2:27That sounds like progress, and it is, But now tell me what actually helped.
- 2:32Was it one supplement?
- 2:33Was it the dietary change?
- 2:35Was it the hormone therapy?
- 2:37Was it something she stopped doing?
- 2:39Was it the combination?
- 2:41We don't know.
- 2:42So even though she improved, we may have lots of information in the process, and I think this happens more often than people realize.
- 2:51We are so eager to feel better that we sometimes change too many variables at once, and then the body gives us a response, but we don't know how to interpret it or what to continue doing.
- 3:06The same thing can happen with testing.
- 3:08More testing sounds thorough, but more testing is not automatically better testing.
- 3:14A test is most useful when it is answering a clear clinical question.
- 3:20If I'm asking, could iron depletion be contributing to hair loss, fatigue, reduced exercise tolerance, shortness of breath?
- 3:30That's a question.
- 3:31But if I'm ordering 40 markers because I'm hoping one of them finally tells me why someone feels bad, that's different.
- 3:40The test should serve the investigation.
- 3:43The investigation should not be built around whatever test happens to be popular right now.
- 3:48And this is why I keep coming back to this one idea.
- 3:52Before you spend another dollar trying to feel better, ask, what are we trying to understand?
- 4:00What evidence do we have that this deserve attention?
- 4:03And how will we know whether what we do next actually helped?
- 4:09If those questions are not clear, you don't have an answer for this question, you have no clue, I need you to pause.
- 4:15Because the next thing you do should give you information, not just hope.
- 4:20And this is actually the reason I created my root cause analysis consultation.
- 4:24Yesterday during the masterclass, connected dots masterclass, I could teach people how I think.
- 4:31I could explain why timeline matters, why treatment response matters, why more testing does not automatically mean better answers, but I cannot responsibly tell someone what their individual pattern means without knowing their story.
- 4:46That takes time.
- 4:48The root cause analysis is a two-visit doctor-led evaluation with me.
- 4:52We start with a 60-minute consultation where I review your whole life, so to speak, your health history, your timeline, previous testing, medications, supplements, treatment responses, what changed, what helped, what didn't, and what still does not make sense.
- 5:10And then we come back for another 30 minutes to discuss the results and strategy.
- 5:17The investment at the time of recording is$497, and the goal is not to automatically order everything.
- 5:26The goal is to determine what deserves investigation and why.
- 5:30This is a very different kind of purchase than simply trying one more thing.
- 5:35And maybe you're listening to me thinking Dr.
- 5:38Gentit, I've already spent so much money And I don't want another appointment.
- 5:46Listen, I understand.
- 5:48I hear you.
- 5:49I completely understand where you're coming from.
- 5:51But I want you to separate two things though.
- 5:54Spending money on another random intervention is not the same thing as investing in figuring out what deserves intervention, okay?
- 6:03Those are not the same decision.
- 6:06One adds something else to the pile, the other is meant to help you decide what should even be in the pile in the first place.
- 6:16And if you missed the Connect the Dots masterclass, or you attended and thought I need someone to apply this thinking to me," that is exactly what the root cause analysis is for.
- 6:26You do not need to know which test you need before you do, you come to me.
- 6:30That is my job, okay?
- 6:33You do not need to know all the diagnoses.
- 6:35That's also my job.
- 6:36You do not need to organize your entire case.
- 6:39All I need you to do is just bring what you know, what you've tried, your previous labs, if you have them, upload them into your portal.
- 6:48Bring the things that still do not make sense, and we'll start from there.
- 6:52That's so simple.
- 6:54And whether you work with me or not, I want you to take one thing from this episode.
- 6:59Before you spend another dollar trying to feel better, here we go, repeating myself, what exactly are we trying to understand?
- 7:05Because the next thing you do with your health, your money, your energy, all of the things that you do to yourself, should have a clear reason behind it.
- 7:15If you want to learn more about the, the root cause analysis consultation, the booking link is in the show notes below.
- 7:22I really hope that you understand how powerful and valuable it is when you actually know what's behind those symptoms, when you have someone helping you investigate, okay?
- 7:34We're not just throwing things, like trying out different things.
- 7:38And sometimes you think purchasing a supplement for$30 is cheaper.
- 7:43It adds up by the end of the day or by the end of the week, by the end of the time, you find yourself spending thousands of dollars on supplements.
- 7:52Was it worth it?
- 7:53Did you actually know what exactly you are treating?
- 7:57Did you have the investigation done?
- 7:59And for some people, the answer is no.
- 8:02So I want you to book the root cause analysis.
- 8:04Let's do the investigation together.
- 8:06Let's connect the dots together.
- 8:08And then you can actually have a clearer picture of what you need to do, what your next step should be, okay?
- 8:14So the link is in the show notes below That is fantastic.
- 8:19You completed another episode.
- 8:22So thank you for spending this time with me.
- 8:26If today's conversation gave you a new perspective, I hope you carry it with you into the rest of your week.
- 8:32If someone you love needs to hear this today, share this episode with them.
- 8:38Until next time, take good care of yourself.
- 8:41I'll meet you back here for our next conversation.
