- 2:32And as always, we appreciate those who've gotten in touch to
- 2:35give suggestions to give us guidance as to how we can
- 2:38improve feedback as to who they'd like to see on the
- 2:40podcast and of course, what they'd like to see being
- 2:43discussed as. As always, I'd like to begin by
- 2:47welcoming my reliable and my beloved cohost said I live in
- 2:51other ways. How are you doing, Bella?
- 3:05I'm the LA Well, it's at home that we are in the month of
- 3:07Muharram, so I'm the Lala Kulehan, I will say that.
- 3:14Absolutely said the holy month has come.
- 3:18It feels like something we anticipate throughout throughout
- 3:21the whole year. It feels like we've been talking
- 3:23about Imam Hussein and Leh Salaam for the whole year, and
- 3:26now Muharram is here because we reflect on his message, and it
- 3:30seems to be a theme in in our discussions that we always find
- 3:33the connection between the journey of the Holy Imam and
- 3:37everything else. Every other discussion, every
- 3:40lesson we learn, somehow links back to Kadabala or can be found
- 3:44in Kadabala. And now we're finally here and
- 3:47it's, you know, crunch time. Yeah, Adam's here and you know
- 3:51we, it's a time where a lot of the lovers of the Imam Hussain,
- 3:55lovers of Allah, lovers of Fatima Zahra await this month.
- 3:59Because it's not just a month where we wait because, for
- 4:01example, we want to beat our chest or a month where we know
- 4:05we just want to listen to almost all the news.
- 4:06You know, there's more to it. There is this connection that we
- 4:09have directly with Imam Hussain Ali.
- 4:12He have the Salati was Salaam and you know that's.
- 4:17There's a narration direm of growing up, I've heard, where he
- 4:21says, you know, surely for the martyrdom of my grandson
- 4:27Hussein, there is a flame in the hearts of the believers that's
- 4:31will never fade away. And this is what it's all about.
- 4:36What I'm trying to say is that, you know, as much as we want
- 4:39Muharram to come, as much as we want, there's a reason behind
- 4:42it. And then, Charlotte, we are
- 4:44those flames. That are ignited in the love of
- 4:47you. And Charlotte, Charlotte And it
- 4:48feels like Karbala and Ashura are historic in the sense of a
- 4:54landmark event which changed the course of history both at the
- 4:58time it happened and of course afterwards.
- 5:01But what I find really interesting is, and I think
- 5:03maybe it's a good place for us to start, is Karbala being
- 5:06foretold by the holy prophe Muhammad from the Lah Ali while
- 5:09you're Salem? We know, of course, the story of
- 5:12Bibi, Olm Salima and Salam. And for those who don't know, I
- 5:16hope you don't mind, I'm going to kind of summarize the story.
- 5:18But one of the many miracles of the Holy Prophet Muhammad was
- 5:22that he was able to foretell and foresee what was to happen to
- 5:27his grandson, Imam Hussein Les Salaam.
- 5:29And this was done through the Angel jib rail.
- 5:32So we know, of course from narrations that jib rail brought
- 5:35down the dust of Karbala and he presented it to the Holy Prophet
- 5:38Muhammad and he told the Holy Prophet Muhammad that this dust.
- 5:43Is from the land of Karbala which will turn into blood on
- 5:48the day your grandson is murdered and martyred.
- 5:51Then of course the Holy Prophet presents this to his wife
- 5:54Omsalema of course, who is highly revered and respected
- 5:57both in the school of the Adul Beetale Hemslam and Ahlasunova.
- 6:00Jamar and Hadith narrations tell us that Omsalema kept this dust
- 6:08in in a pot or in a jar. For around 50 years, over 50
- 6:13years. And when eventually Imam Hussein
- 6:17was martyred and the dust turned into blood, she of course was
- 6:22one of the first, if not the first to leave her house and
- 6:25proclaim to the people about the martyrdom of Al Hussein Les
- 6:28Sala. And this is one of the most
- 6:31fundamental proofs that we have, that Karbala was a moment of
- 6:37spirituality and a moment of divinity.
- 6:40It wasn't merely a political battle, and it wasn't merely A
- 6:44dispute between two parties over the the small matter of beta or
- 6:48allegiance, but rather was something which the Holy Prophet
- 6:51knew was to happen, and of course was something that was
- 6:53foretold through the permission of the last one to other.
- 6:56So yeah. I can just elaborate on the
- 6:59story that you mentioned and you know we know the narrations, you
- 7:03know that there are some narrations that go in a bit
- 7:05deeper to that point where they say.
- 7:08Before Jibrahil gave the soil of Karbala to Rossula La Sala La Ho
- 7:14Ali, Hawaii, he first narrated how Imam and Hussein will be
- 7:18killed. And he didn't just tell him I'll
- 7:21bring the soil. I don't know the exact location,
- 7:24location of where the sacred head of Imam Hussein will be 7th
- 7:28like that exact point I was with tears flowing down his cheeks.
- 7:33This is him narrating it to himself that he.
- 7:36Asked Jubay to bring it to him and Jubay did do so.
- 7:39And after doing that, what does he tell him?
- 7:42This is for me, this is the most interesting bit about everything
- 7:45here is that he says those that will kill my grandson Hussein
- 7:49are those who claim to be from my.
- 7:53So that goes to show you, you know, as much as we can say we
- 7:57are Muslim or people rule in the name of Islam, in the name of
- 8:00Rasul Allah, OK, Rasul Allah, saying a very vital point here.
- 8:05That my son Hussein is on the path of Haq, and for him to
- 8:09claim those who will kill him, claim to be from my own mom, is
- 8:13on the side of falsehood. So Karbala is like, if I, if I
- 8:17can say it to you very truly and honestly here.
- 8:20There is more to it than justice Martin.
- 8:23There is truth, and we love the truth.
- 8:25Muslims yearn the truth and for us to see closeness to a loss
- 8:29upon Matala. God wants us to be on the path
- 8:33that is truth. And for me that is the most
- 8:35beautiful thing from that narration that you mentioned.
- 8:36I will never forget that because as I said, anyone can claim that
- 8:40they can be Muslim, but when Rasola Law says they claim to be
- 8:45from my own, that has a big statement to reflect on.
- 8:48And there's there is incredible amounts of hypocrisy found
- 8:51within the Battle of. Karbala and like you said, of
- 8:55course these people who claim to be from the Omar of the Holy
- 8:57Prophet, the ones who ended up martyring him.
- 8:59There's a hadith from Imam Sajjad and his son if I'm not
- 9:04mistaken, and he narrates that the most hurtful day for the
- 9:09Holy Prophet Muhammad Salah Laha Ali was Saddam was when his
- 9:14uncle Hamza was killed on the battle of Ahed.
- 9:16The second most hurtful day was when his cousin Jaffa Ibn Abhi
- 9:20Talib. Was martyred on the day of
- 9:23Motta, and then he goes on to say, well, I yo makayoman there.
- 9:30Is there's no, there's no. Day like your day.
- 9:36There's no match for Ashura. There's no match for Karbala.
- 9:40And then the imam continue continues to say says 30,000
- 9:42soldiers were mobilized against him claiming that they are part
- 9:47of this Omar while. Seeking nearness to Allah while
- 9:53Imam and Hussein al Hissam was giving vicar and reminding them
- 9:56about Allah, and his goal was to enjoin good and forbid evil.
- 10:00And of course they murdered him sinfully and wrongfully.
- 10:04And you begin to understand that hypocrisy has existed since the
- 10:09beginning of Islam and it was found no more clearly and
- 10:12visibly than in the plains of Karbala, and if we understand
- 10:15that, in its purest form. Truth can be found in Karbala
- 10:21and falsehood can also be found in Karbala.
- 10:24Then we begin to develop a litmus test for what is Huck and
- 10:28what is bargain. And I think if we I, I want to
- 10:31ask you, of course, but I think a really important place for us
- 10:35to start before we begin these series of coming podcasts is why
- 10:40the Holy Imam actually went to Karbala.
- 10:43What? What did he have in mind?
- 10:45What was his goal? What was his mission?
- 10:48What was his his objective? And was it purely just to stand
- 10:53up to Yazid? Was it, you know, to fight
- 10:57against oppression and all these things, or was there something
- 10:59deeper? No, sorry Mama Hussein Ali has
- 11:02Salaam, you know, very famously when he embarked on his journey
- 11:06towards Karbala, that wasn't his intention as in his, his final
- 11:11destination was not got to go to Karbala, was go to Kufa.
- 11:14And you know, he was answering the requests that were coming in
- 11:19from the, from the people in Kufa who wanted Imam Hussein to
- 11:22come and sort out the mess that the rule had on them as Muslims
- 11:27during that time. And, you know, some people's
- 11:29hearts changed. I don't know.
- 11:31I'll be honest with you. I don't know the full reason as
- 11:33to why so many betrayed Imam Hussein after signing those, you
- 11:38know, requests of him coming and they play pay allegiance to him.
- 11:41Just I guess that's part of the last plan I can say the fact
- 11:44that he ended up in Karbala, you know, and why he went there and
- 11:48I've said it on many previous other podcasts and I re irritate
- 11:51it and I keep saying all over again Imam and Hussein Alehi of
- 11:55well as Salati was Salaam a point from what you mentioned
- 11:58earlier. He was there to enjoy good and
- 12:00forbid evil but he went there to revive the teachings of his
- 12:03grandfather Muhammad or Salah La La la Ale who Ali was son.
- 12:07Because look, I'll be honest. If Imam and Hussain didn't go to
- 12:10Karbala and if Ashwara didn't happen and as brutal as it
- 12:14sounds if Imam and Hussain's head was not raised on the
- 12:16spare, we won't have the Islam of Rasul Allah.
- 12:20We'll have the Islam of year Zealand.
- 12:21Malia, let's let's let's be honest about this because you
- 12:24know the the the party of Yazid and his army they also preyed on
- 12:29Ashura. You know I've read that they
- 12:32also done Salah, but the difference is you know Mam
- 12:35Husain's camp. They didn't attack them during
- 12:37Salah was the camp of Imam to say when they were praying the
- 12:40arm of Yazid were firing arrows was Imam al Hussein is you know
- 12:46establishing Salah and and it shows you a very clear image and
- 12:51it's as clear as day if you if you read the Mccartan and if you
- 12:56read the historic narrations of the entire battle is that and
- 13:01this is the most beautiful thing that I found about this very
- 13:03recently. That whenever Imam Al Hussein
- 13:06had the opportunity to himself, which was very rare, it was all,
- 13:11was always in supplication to a loss of Harman Tala every moment
- 13:16possible for him, even when facing the enemy, even when
- 13:20addressing the enemy soldiers that want to kill him.
- 13:23That I had to take the blood of Imam Al Hussein, he will remind
- 13:26them of a loss of Harman Tala and he would tell them you still
- 13:29have an opportunity to change. A loss of Hana Watana will still
- 13:33forgive you should you come to the path of truth.
- 13:35Like look at the mercy of Allah, even at that final.
- 13:37Although these soldiers have come out to kill Hussein, finish
- 13:40him off. And his family, you know what
- 13:42I'm saying. Still, telling them Allow will
- 13:44forgive you if you change sites. Danny, I'm sorry.
- 13:48No, no, no, no. I it's the passion you're
- 13:51speaking with is completely true and it's important for us to
- 13:54understand that the holier, the holier mom in in his initial
- 13:59offset. When he left and headed towards
- 14:03Iraq, modern day Iraq, we know from his will to Mohammed bin
- 14:07Hanifia that he repeats again and again and again and again.
- 14:12The vision for Al Haq and Haq is the defining and the ultimate
- 14:17goal of the Imam. When we say, for example, many
- 14:20of the phrases we used today, when we transmit and translate
- 14:22the message of the only Imam to non-Muslims, we say the Imam
- 14:25stood against oppression. We just, we said the Imam fought
- 14:28for justice. We say the Imam stood against
- 14:30the dictator of his time. Many of these concepts today are
- 14:33relative. They are subjective.
- 14:35They're not objective. Because in a day and age where
- 14:38people misgender each other and where you have different
- 14:42concepts of morality and different concepts of halal and
- 14:45Haram and Haram and Hal, it becomes pointless to say this
- 14:49guy was an oppressor because someone else he might be a
- 14:51freedom fighter. But what is objective, what will
- 14:55never change is God's law. Alas, opponent to Allah and Al
- 14:59Haq and you're talking about Isla Hadeen, the Reformation of
- 15:02the religion of the Holy Path. Mohammed.
- 15:04This is something that is timeless, is non malleable, it
- 15:08can't be changed, amended, added to or removed from.
- 15:12And the idea was that the Holy Imam continued this in his
- 15:16pursuit of finding Haq. There's from, if you don't mind,
- 15:19from the will of the Holy Imam to Mohammed bin Hanefield and
- 15:23it's interesting that he wrote this will knowing of course that
- 15:26he was going to lose his life. But he says I have not taken up
- 15:31arms in order to make merry or for entertainment, or to be
- 15:35ecstatic over what I possess. I'm not making mischief, nor am
- 15:38I exercising oppression. But I am ready to fight for the
- 15:42sole goal of seeking reformation of the Oma of my grandfather,
- 15:46the Apostle of Allah. I want to enjoy in good and
- 15:48forbid evil and guide the affairs of the people.
- 15:50As my grandfather and my father, I live no be a thalib were
- 15:53doing. One who accepts me with truth,
- 15:56Almighty Allah is more deserving for truth.
- 15:58And one who objects against me I shall be patient on it so that
- 16:02our last panel to Allah may judge between me and these
- 16:04people. He is the best of judges.
- 16:06This is obviously a short excerpt from the will of the
- 16:08awaited from the from the holy Imam and it's interesting to
- 16:11understand that Huck was the defining factor for the Imam and
- 16:16if the Imam has seen a mini what Annaminela has saying if the
- 16:20Imam says this. In in retrospect, that means the
- 16:23Holy Prophet would have said the same thing.
- 16:26And if he's saying I am with Huck and those who are against
- 16:28me are with falsehood, then there's no dispute.
- 16:31It's it should be clear as they to understand.
- 16:33No, you're very right. And it's a very important point
- 16:37that you just raised is that when the imam is talking, I saw
- 16:40the last talking, Yeah. Because, you know, when we come
- 16:43to the elder base, our Holy Emma with 12 imams, there has never
- 16:47been a single contradiction. The grandfather of Salah while
- 16:51he was in it. And it's clear and the teachings
- 16:54are the same. So if we want to say you know
- 16:56who, who has the the correct son of Muhammad Salah Wali.
- 17:01All the other bits without shadow of a doubt, because you
- 17:05know Yazid, let's go back being Ashwara.
- 17:09Let's bring up Yazid for a moment, OK?
- 17:12Yazid claimed to be Emiral Momentin of his time he claimed
- 17:16to be the rifle. I don't know Caliph at the time
- 17:18to rule the Muslim in the name of Mohammed, also in the name of
- 17:23Allah. And the beautiful difference
- 17:27that it's so clear to everyone is that you cannot mistake hack
- 17:33and bottle here because you have a man like Yazid who
- 17:37historically narrated. Everywhere was openly.
- 17:42Faasik. He would openly.
- 17:45He was an adulterer on top of that.
- 17:47On top of that, he used to lead Salah prayers in the state of
- 17:50drunkenness. He was drunk and leading pledger
- 17:53prayers. So there's a huge clear
- 17:55difference already. If you see historically has he
- 17:58done his life? And on top of that, just one
- 18:00thing I want to mention, if you really want to know, they say
- 18:03you know if you want to know who you are.
- 18:05Look at the five closest friends to you, and you've said this
- 18:07example many times. Who was the closest friend to
- 18:10Yazid? A monkey by the name of Price.
- 18:14I'm not making this up and I don't want anyone to think that
- 18:17I'm joking. I really genuinely want you with
- 18:20an open heart to go check everything that I'm saying about
- 18:22Yazid, because you cannot take Yazid as your leader.
- 18:25What's the hill when you have about Abdullah and?
- 18:28We know of the Yazid and his younger years when the office
- 18:31and the young years when Maria was governor of Sham.
- 18:34I'm not mistaken. When Oman Abdul Khaba was was
- 18:38was Khalifa Mario was in Sham. If I'm not mistaken, at the
- 18:41time, Yazid in his younger years at the time was under the
- 18:45teacher who was a Christian preacher.
- 18:48I think it was time was. Was it time?
- 18:50Was man, I may be. I may be wrong.
- 18:52But from what we understand, Yazid spent many of his younger
- 18:55years outside of the realms of Islam.
- 18:58And of course, in his late years, in these years, when when
- 19:01Maria died, and obviously it was then the the, the, the Khalafa
- 19:06was put in, wrongfully put into the hands of Yazid.
- 19:09Even those people in governance at the time.
- 19:11Which by the way, at that time went against the treaty signed
- 19:14with Imam Al Hasan. Correct.
- 19:15Yeah. And there was so much revolt,
- 19:17even internally that who's this guy?
- 19:19He's an idiot. His dad was a politician,
- 19:22although spiteful and, you know, all sorts of disgraceful things
- 19:26that Maria did. But Yazid himself is an open
- 19:29idiot. This is what the the common
- 19:31knowledge was and of course the the the real tactical, like the
- 19:37evil genius. Of Karbala.
- 19:40A lot of it was obviously orchestrated by a Bin Ziad and
- 19:44then from, you know, from Kufa and then on the ground in
- 19:47Karbala would have been sad and shimmer and obviously a lot of
- 19:51the foot soldiers as well. But there's a chain and there's
- 19:54a hierarchy of complete levels of evil in different forms.
- 19:59I would also advise for anyone who's listening at home to check
- 20:03out a series we did. On Adlib, a TV with Father
- 20:07Christopher Glehersey. A couple years ago I had the
- 20:09opportunity to speak with him and he is an absolutely amazing
- 20:13speaker. For those who don't know him,
- 20:15Michelle will get him onto the podcast one time, but he's a
- 20:18teacher of shit. He studies in Arabic, in the
- 20:21Vatican, in Rome. And his primary focus is talking
- 20:25about Kadabala and Iman Hussain. And he's done an indepth
- 20:29biography and analysis of set of Artem Zara Baby Zainab Aleh
- 20:32Salaam. And of course he does a lot of
- 20:35work on the the enemies behind Kadabala Pre during a post.
- 20:40Kadabala as well. Really really good stuff.
- 20:42So such as Christopher Kala has his name check it out on YouTube
- 20:45and also his work online as well, his books and whatnot.
- 20:49But. You know, this is, this is the
- 20:51really important thing because then you have two sides of the
- 20:53coin. You have those who are Ahlib
- 20:55Kesar, the Imam who was raised in the House of Purity.
- 20:58His father was Ahlib Nabeer Palib and his mother was Fatima
- 21:01Zahra. And this is a man who was was
- 21:04raised alongside Imammod Hassan Bibi UN Kulthurm and Bibi Zenham
- 21:09Alihu Masalam and his his his life is underappreciated pride
- 21:15to Karbala, all of the things he did throughout his life.
- 21:19A lot we've mentioned on the podcast before a lot of people
- 21:21always point to the one incident in his youth where he's doing
- 21:23with all and he teaches an old man to with all the mom has and
- 21:26the imam had years of kidma and service to the umber and it's a
- 21:30shame that we only take heed of his actions at his death.
- 21:33Even his death teaches us lessons but his life obviously
- 21:36teaches us many, many more. But you've got two sides of the
- 21:39corner and obviously like I said earlier in in this will to.
- 21:42His brother Mohammed in Hanafiya, he says.
- 21:44Oh, my brother, even if there's no refuge in this world, I will
- 21:47never ever give beta to Yazidim Amaralia, which goes to show
- 21:51that Imam didn't care for his salvation in the Dunya.
- 21:56A man like me will never give allegiance to a man like and it
- 22:01and it just shows you and and for someone to say that sort of
- 22:04statement you really had to be raised.
- 22:08Under the arms of Rossola la Sala la Hawaani Salam.
- 22:10And we see that connection evidently in history.
- 22:14Everywhere the relationship Rossola la Sala Hawaani was
- 22:17Salam had with his grandson, his beloved grandson.
- 22:20He used to call Hussein his son or his grandson.
- 22:22Well, a deal Hussein. He used to call him my own son,
- 22:25Hussein and Minnie when I'm in Hussein and the most beautiful
- 22:28saying I love about this is Habalam and Habwa say.
- 22:37A loss of Hana. What's our like?
- 22:38I love me because I love Imam and how beautiful is that?
- 22:43How beautiful is that? And you know another thing that
- 22:45I find so amazing about about Rasul Allah and Imam and
- 22:49Hussein, You know Rasul Allah Allah while he was selling them,
- 22:53when he used to go to the mosque and he used to deliver sermons.
- 22:58There were times during the sermons where he would get Imam
- 23:01and Hussein and same on his lap and he will deliver.
- 23:06I think that's more than just love.
- 23:08That's him saying truly Hussein is from me and I am from Hussein
- 23:12be And and it's telling everyone there seeing this, you know,
- 23:16sitting down and seeing ABA Abdullah and the laps of Russo
- 23:20Nala Salah, Hani 1S M And then eventually, you know, we see a a
- 23:24place on Ashwara on the front of Muharram where there's someone
- 23:27else sitting on the chest of Imam Hussein, Salaam, Ala Shimer
- 23:31Bin Josh and Anatole Ali. There's a point where you know.
- 23:35And this is a point where, say the Zainab stands on the tell.
- 23:38You know, when you go to Karbala and Ara, then the shrine of Imam
- 23:42and Hassen and there's a point where it's called tell is
- 23:44Zainaby. This is the point that it's
- 23:46known in history where she stood and she's So what happened to
- 23:49your Mama Hassan, you know, so this, this, this is not an easy
- 23:55thing for a sister to see, let alone the daughter of Amira
- 23:58Nomini, let alone the granddaughter for so long love
- 24:00the daughter fault because. If it wasn't easy for her and
- 24:06she saw beauty in this, she saw beauty in a loss of Hana.
- 24:08What's Allah from Karbala? How about us?
- 24:12You know, Because I'm sure, Ahmed, if you read or hear or
- 24:18sit in image list like we have been, and many of us watching,
- 24:23listening to after my podcast or an image list, or we've been to
- 24:26a image list or about to listen to a image list, there's going
- 24:29to be a point during that lecture.
- 24:31Before the eulogies, before you go do Martin, Before you go, do
- 24:34not. Before you start your Hazardari,
- 24:35there's going to be Mossad, but they're going to narrate, you
- 24:39know, certain tragedy on that day.
- 24:40They're going to dedicate a certain, you know, important
- 24:45figure that we take and learn lessons from.
- 24:46In Karbala, what happens to the heart, I want to know because
- 24:51Imam and Husain had the softest of hearts and there's nothing
- 24:54that can soften a heart for us like the Muslim Abdullah.
- 24:58Why is it important to cry for Imam Hussain?
- 25:01You know, there's that saying Imam Hussein al Islam gave his
- 25:07heart to Allah and he returned. Allah gave millions of hearts to
- 25:10Imam Salaam and when one opens his heart to the Holi Imam Ale
- 25:17his Salaam, the heart softens and it finds an opportunity to
- 25:22receive all of the message. And all of the guidance that the
- 25:29Holy Imam intended for us to receive the tears that we shed
- 25:34for the holy, for I keep saying the holy away, the tears that we
- 25:37shed for the Holy Imam Alehi Salaam are tears which we should
- 25:41never underestimate its its value and its importance.
- 25:44And there's so many there's dozens and dozens of a hadith.
- 25:48I I was looking earlier at at least 40 hadith.
- 25:51I'll mention one or two if you don't mind.
- 25:53Please. There's Hadid from the Holy
- 25:56Prophet Muhammad in Mustada Kalusa in volume 10, page 318,
- 26:01where he says surely there exists in the hearts of the
- 26:03Motmanin with respect to the martyrdom of Ali Hossein Eleh
- 26:07Salaam, a heat that never subsides.
- 26:09And you think about it that when the Holy Prophet is saying that
- 26:12your heart will be full, your heart will be warm.
- 26:16When it comes to Ali Hossein Eleh Salaam, then your heart
- 26:19will be open to reformation. And of course we know from from.
- 26:24Recital Hakulk and of course in the Holy Quran that the heart in
- 26:28Islam is the the gateway towards connection and obedience the
- 26:32last. So in Charlotte we can think
- 26:35about this when we when we sit in the Masiba.
- 26:37We should never ever underestimate the power of these
- 26:40nights and especially the moments of Masiba, say the
- 26:42Fatima Zahrasla Mulahi Ale has in Charlotte sitting amongst us
- 26:47and to be able to shed a fly's wing of tear.
- 26:50For the imam. They say a tear the size of, you
- 26:54know, the wing of a mosquito. Correct.
- 26:57And mosquito. Yeah.
- 26:58Yeah. And you know that that small
- 27:00tear in Charlotte will be intercession for us.
- 27:02It will cool us on Yom Kiyama in the heat and with the knob you
- 27:07know and and and Charlotte that will that will act as an
- 27:09intercession for us and and let me just say one last thing.
- 27:13What I have found at least on a personal level is that as a as a
- 27:18man. Crying in this day and age has
- 27:21become taboo and it's sometimes in even in other schools of
- 27:27Islam is seen as a form of weakness.
- 27:30Mourning a death is seen as weakness.
- 27:32Mourning a death for an extended period period is is a weak.
- 27:37On the contrary, one should never ever stop crying for a
- 27:41mother Hussein and shedding a tear for the Imam.
- 27:45Will give you masculinity. It will give you hope and if the
- 27:48for me alone if there's one thing that can bring me to tears
- 27:51it's the imam story So we have to take it seriously.
- 27:55There's a Khalaq and there's an etiquette that we must observe
- 27:58when sitting in the side and and when we perform as a as a diary
- 28:03in itself is is I feel it's wajib on us morning the imam is
- 28:08wajib on us you know the the we we have there's a tendency to
- 28:13fall into the trap. During the ten nights of of of
- 28:16harm, to become intellectuals and academics.
- 28:20And it is, it is. But the ultimate aim of these
- 28:23ten nights is what's it? It's mourning.
- 28:25It's grief. You know, we talked about this,
- 28:29Jala. We will talk about this with
- 28:31with one of our forthcoming guests.
- 28:32But there's a hadith from Mamu Kadaman Islam where it said that
- 28:36from the first night of Muharram until the 10th eve or the the
- 28:39day of Ashurah, he seemed to be in a state of Hazan, an absolute
- 28:43grief. No state of joy or happiness.
- 28:46Complete grief to the point of extreme sadness.
- 28:50And we think about it. There's many of us who at times
- 28:53will be a Magellis and we'll be in a state of mourning.
- 28:56And then during the day we're in school or in work and we're our
- 28:59normal selves with our colleagues, and we don't even
- 29:01make an effort to explain why to our colleagues we are wearing
- 29:05black, if we even do that at work, or why we are not in a
- 29:08joyful mood like we usually are. I'm thinking about it already.
- 29:12We are recording this podcast, obviously, the night before
- 29:15Baham begins and I'm thinking about talking to my colleagues
- 29:19about it, how I'll portray this to my colleagues, because Imam
- 29:22Hussein is for all, he's not just for us, he's for all.
- 29:27Of course his message was don't read in essence, but his his
- 29:32method is for all, absolutely. This Imam Hussein is definitely
- 29:35for all, 110%. He is for all because you know,
- 29:39a la Sapana, what's a Allah? When he wants to people to come
- 29:43to Islam, Islam is open for all. Yeah.
- 29:46And a lot of people, we see the reason why I say Islam is for
- 29:50all because I have seen so much conversions and reversions
- 29:54happen where people come towards Islam, come towards the path of
- 30:00their Herman Bates through the mountain of your mom and Hussein
- 30:03because you. Can you It's it's impossible for
- 30:07the rock not to cry. Yeah it's some if, if, if we can
- 30:12say, you know rain blood from the sky, honestly, your heart,
- 30:17your heart, that something happens to it.
- 30:19And warning Imam Hussein is is is not just emotional.
- 30:24I think it's spiritual because you feel some sort of
- 30:28connection. To a loss of Pano Mataala.
- 30:31A lot of people they say I'm just doing this from one person.
- 30:33Ultimately, this is taking us closer to a loss of Pano Mataala
- 30:36because sometimes we can say some of the dasadari or some of
- 30:42the morning that we do are signs from a loss of Pano Mataala.
- 30:44There is a verse I don't remember exactly on top of my
- 30:47head. That's if we go back to our holy
- 30:50Imams. They say you're Hamma Laman,
- 30:52Ahiya, Amrana. May Allah have mercy on the ones
- 30:54who revive, revive our teachings or revive, know what happened to
- 30:58us, revive, speak good of us, all of these things.
- 31:01And this is the same form as Majalis, for example, when we
- 31:03hold the merge this way, Mom said what are we doing?
- 31:06We are reviving their teachings. We are reviving and reminding
- 31:09everyone, you know, the message of a loss of Hana.
- 31:11What's Allah? But ultimately, I think what's
- 31:13beautiful about Muraman Morning is these days, like you said.
- 31:16You know, people say real men don't cry.
- 31:18No, no, no, no, no. Come to Karbala, come to Karbala
- 31:22and you see the true men because you see men as men.
- 31:25Yeah. Yeah, 100 percent, 100%. 110%
- 31:28and you know, we know Imam Zenyla Habadine Imamma, said
- 31:32Judge. There's there's there's
- 31:34narrations that. You know, after Karbala and
- 31:37after going to Sharm and then after, you know, leaving Yazid's
- 31:41palace and going back to, I think it was Medina, if I'm not
- 31:46mistaken. You know, there was always a
- 31:48time where he will be with the public.
- 31:49It will be with the, you know, the Muslims there around him.
- 31:52And whenever they come to the imam, he would cry.
- 31:55He would cry, OK, so if the imam is crying, why shouldn't we cry?
- 31:59And he says, I cry because not just because my father was
- 32:03killed. I cried because my father was
- 32:06killed in the most brutal of way.
- 32:08Ali was. And I'm cried for Imam and
- 32:11Hussain. Yes, prior to his martyrdom.
- 32:14Huh. That's a Sunda.
- 32:16That's a Sunda to cry for Imam Hussein.
- 32:18So I'm gonna lie, Ali. And what's more beautiful about
- 32:21this test? You're asking me?
- 32:24I'm asking you. I mean, you said something which
- 32:26I liked about spirituality. The Martin of the Imam is
- 32:30spiritual. You know, The thing is the
- 32:32difference between a revolutionary and a reformer as
- 32:34well. A revolutionary comes with the
- 32:36intention to change, to free the physical shackles from people.
- 32:40A reformer comes, they conduct the revolution and then they
- 32:43change the shack, free the shackles of people's minds and
- 32:45hearts. Imam Hussein and Hessel I was
- 32:47not just a revolutionary who's a reformer.
- 32:50And we say that the Imam spiritually and politically
- 32:54reformed the Dean of Alas, Monta Isla.
- 32:57And his grandchildren and his great grandchildren, Imam al
- 32:59Baker Al es Salaam a Mama sada Khale Islam.
- 33:02They conducted then the intellectual reformation athol
- 33:06athaka fear. And when we talk about that, we
- 33:08understand that Karbala was a success in the sense that when
- 33:13the holy Imam says Isla Haddina Rasul, the Reformation of the
- 33:17religion of his grandfather, he had to, he had to do this.
- 33:23It was wide upon him and he knew in that moment in time my
- 33:26grandfather would have done this, my father would have done
- 33:28this. And of course we know that if
- 33:29this is how one Imam acted and all of the imams in the same
- 33:34position would have done the same thing.
- 33:35Just because the later Imams or the earlier Imam Hassan than a
- 33:38Salaam or whoever we're discussing was not a kind of
- 33:41balayan Imam Hussein was, does not mean that one Imam was
- 33:44braver than the other, or one was more politically inclined
- 33:46and one was more reserved. It doesn't work like that.
- 33:49The the ultimate goal is Doheed. And then the practice of it was
- 33:53the practice that there's Sulah Muhammad's on the La Hailey so
- 33:55then would have done himself. So the revolution of Karbala is
- 34:00one thing. the Reformation of our hearts and minds millions of
- 34:03people now over 1000 years later is more important.
- 34:06I think you know Karbala is eternal.
- 34:09It's timeless never ending it never ending.
- 34:11You literally ending love I sent and you know there's no way I
- 34:16find it really ignorant when people just.
- 34:19Pigeonhole Ashurah into a political dispute one of one of
- 34:24dozens of early Islamic battles that happened in the early days.
- 34:27Bro. You know they say you know
- 34:30there's there's a historian. I forget her first name her her
- 34:35surname is Hazard. OK, or Hazard.
- 34:39She's a like Jenny Hazard or something like that.
- 34:41She's it was very interesting what she said.
- 34:43She wrote a biography on the holy prop Mohammed.
- 34:45She said They said the golden years of Islam came after the
- 34:48death. How can the golden years of
- 34:50Islam come after the death of the of of Rossul when they
- 34:53killed his grandson 50 years later?
- 34:55And imagine the the all the obstacles which the imam had to
- 34:59face. Imam Ali, Imam Hassan and Imam
- 35:01Hussein and Imos Salaam in the build up post the death of the
- 35:05Holy Prophet Muhammad and in the build up to Karbala everything
- 35:08they had to face and people dare say that these are the golden,
- 35:10the golden era of Islam. It doesn't really make sense to
- 35:14me. It doesn't.
- 35:15It doesn't. And you know, just just to add
- 35:17on to something here, you know, I came across a clip, a very,
- 35:20very short clip was about 9:00 or 10 minutes long by a very
- 35:24famous, huge public figure. From our brothers, from Manasuma
- 35:28Jamar, you know. And he was touching on the
- 35:29tragedy and the killing of Imam Hussein.
- 35:31Ali is Salaam. And you know, I was listening.
- 35:33I was like, you know what? Let me hear this.
- 35:35You know the video got recommended to me on YouTube.
- 35:38Mufti make. I'll say it out there.
- 35:39You can watch it if you want. And I was like, you know what?
- 35:41Wow. OK.
- 35:42Mufti make is going to talk about mom Hussein I was.
- 35:44You know, fair enough. Fair play.
- 35:46You know, handle Are someone's speaking the truth.
- 35:48Maybe. I don't know.
- 35:49Miss 9 minutes in. All he's talking about is
- 35:54fasting when I showed up. OK.
- 35:56And the final and that my point is it was titled The Martyred
- 36:00and the Killing of Imam Hussain. And the final minute or two,
- 36:03which was 10 to 15% of the entire thing, he was like, you
- 36:07know, your Mama was saying he went to Karbala, you know, there
- 36:10was a dispute. There was like a political thing
- 36:13going on. And he called the entire thing a
- 36:15fitness. And he goes, you know, at the
- 36:16end of the day, He said at the end of the day, your Mama was
- 36:19saying he believes in Laila halala Muhammad Rosso lala.
- 36:22And the army that went against him believes in Laila hala
- 36:24Muhammad Rosso lala. And the army that went against
- 36:27him, I killed Imam Al Hussain. The fact they believe in the
- 36:30Kelema, a loss of Hanna Atalam, I think of them.
- 36:33Wow. That was shocking.
- 36:34Wow. Wow.
- 36:36Yeah. And you, you you could not
- 36:37mention. The name?
- 36:39No more. He didn't even mention that
- 36:40person in my name. I'll mention him.
- 36:42Yazidi bin Maoya and Cole. The entire party of Chetan.
- 36:47Yeah, yeah. Iman Hussein Hamdi, La.
- 36:49He's from the party of Allah, Hezbollah.
- 36:52Yazid. From husband Chetan.
- 36:53Honestly. Honest to God.
- 36:55Yeah. And.
- 36:56These tears, the the The thing is, the moment they mention or
- 37:00narrates what happened to you, Mama Hussain, or the story of
- 37:03our story of Karbala, the entire crowd is going to break.
- 37:08Their hearts are going to shake. Because when you hear what
- 37:11happened to Mama Hussein, it is impossible as a Muslim, as a
- 37:14man, as a human being, not to allow a single tear to go down
- 37:17your cheek. This is the fear.
- 37:20This is what they fear, We'd say what happened to Mama Hussein?
- 37:23There's nothing to gain. Honest questions arise.
- 37:27Question. A lot of questions.
- 37:30How did this happen? And what brought this and?
- 37:32This is why I feel they stop at Imam Al Hussain at a very young
- 37:37age, because the moment you continue to talk about Imam Al
- 37:40Hussain's life as he gets older, what happens?
- 37:45Fuck and. They stop at the point where the
- 37:47Holy Prophet died when the Imam was a young age.
- 37:49At a young age Imam was how old 10 also when the Holy Prophet
- 37:52passed away and at that point. The biography ends when he dies
- 37:57and nothing else matters. And Hassan and Hussain and
- 38:01Lehumous Salaam are known as the children.
- 38:04Yeah, and This is why they say the Shabab and agenda because
- 38:07they are the youth and they were children when the 100 profit
- 38:10was. Bro, this is an injustice to the
- 38:12imam. This is an injustice to the
- 38:14other debate. And injustice to the other
- 38:16debates is injustice to the Quran, which goes symbiotically
- 38:19hand in hand with each other. And an injustice to either, if
- 38:22not both of these two entities is an injustice to our last one
- 38:25of Tyler. And to to say, you know, the the
- 38:28final point I want to make and just in Charlotte, like, you
- 38:31know, there's a lot in these coming nights.
- 38:32I know I really wanted to talk about how to approach these
- 38:35nights and whatnot, but there's one thing I really want to say.
- 38:41It hit me today, you know, I was listening to a lecture and I
- 38:45said Matthew Molarisly. It was really, really cool.
- 38:47He mentioned the story from like 5-6 years ago.
- 38:50He said there's a NASA telescope, the the Hubble Humble
- 38:54something telescope, the most powerful telescope in the world
- 38:57today, Technology wise, the most amazing.
- 39:00He said that there's the most famous photograph that this
- 39:03telescope is captured is a picture of 1000 dots each dot.
- 39:09He says doesn't represent a planet or a planetary system.
- 39:13It represents a Galaxy, and each Galaxy has 200 billion stars.
- 39:20So you have 1000 dots with 200 billion stars within each dot
- 39:24being a Galaxy. And the those at NASA has said
- 39:29it's equivalent mathematically to if you extend your arm and
- 39:32hold a needle at the end of your hand, that small needle.
- 39:36Is that picture and the whole of the arm is what remains
- 39:41uncovered from the observable universe today.
- 39:44Now let me pose this question to you.
- 39:46This is what we in our small humble minds understand in this
- 39:49day and age. Now amongst all of this, the
- 39:53Creator of the universe, a last panel to either that we know
- 39:57from hadith, we know from the Hadith the Prophet.
- 40:00The best of people are those who are most beneficial to the
- 40:03Creator and His creations. The holy Imam alehis Salaam, he
- 40:07gave everything in servitude to the creator and the creator had
- 40:12that special relationship with the Imam.
- 40:14He said to our last one to Allah, I would give you more,
- 40:17take more. When Ali Asgar alehis Salam was
- 40:20had the arrow shot in his neck he said Ya Allah, even in this
- 40:24state if I had more to give you take from me, I'm here.
- 40:27I'm willing to sacrifice more. Take whatever you want from me.
- 40:30Take my life, take whatever you want.
- 40:32And you think about it that this is true love our last panel to
- 40:37Allah we know that do Abu Hamza Somali that there is.
- 40:41We're told in the DA that Allah is so self-sufficient he doesn't
- 40:45need himself. Even if the if our last one to
- 40:49Allah is self-sufficient, he doesn't need the the da and
- 40:53worship from us and he doesn't even need Carabalah and mom.
- 40:57Hussein doesn't need to give his life Allah's sustenance and
- 41:00Allah's existence. But what is important is that we
- 41:03understand that we need a lot and Amanda Hussein is not doing
- 41:06it for for us in this day and age.
- 41:09He's doing it for Allah. Ultimately, the most important
- 41:13thing that we have to observe in these ten nights and in
- 41:16Charlotte, beyond in this season and in Charlotte and in the
- 41:20coming months until next year is love from our last panel to
- 41:24Allah to hate and understanding of Al Haq if we create a
- 41:28connection between these three entities.
- 41:30Love that Allah has given us understanding the mission of
- 41:35Daheed and understanding the mission of Haq.
- 41:38In my opinion, this is this is what I feel will allow us to
- 41:42grasp what the Imam was trying to do.
- 41:45All of that cliche stuff about our fighting oppression.
- 41:48Great. Really cool if you want to talk
- 41:50academically to a modern day university student.
- 41:52But as Muslims are Shia we have to understand that number one,
- 41:56he did it for God and that was that's it.
- 41:59You know there's there's no if buts and maybes.
- 42:01He did it for this week. Yeah he did it.
- 42:03He didn't want to give bait IT Yazid but more than that he
- 42:07didn't want to give bait IT Yazid because he knew he stood
- 42:09against everything godly. So my my only request upon
- 42:13myself is that I take heed of this and I do it and I don't do
- 42:18an injustice to the grand occasion which is Mejales Al
- 42:22Hussein, Alayah, Saddam. You know I don't abuse the right
- 42:27and I don't take the for granted.
- 42:29The blessing and the status of being called a Shia of Abdullah
- 42:35Hussein and you shall, we can live up to that, you know, it's
- 42:38like such a pressure, but like such a blessing to be in these
- 42:44days. No, it's very true.
- 42:45And you know as Shia, I think now you know we are in Muharram
- 42:51and we have to remember as much as we say, Im Ahmed Hussein, he
- 42:55is our Imam. Truly, your mom Hussein is that
- 42:58way, your mom. And you know, if we were there
- 43:01and he was here, would we be the same as we are today?
- 43:05Because we have to factor in, you know, if we want to say we
- 43:09are from the Shia of Ali and his children, we are from the Shia
- 43:12of Hussein. If we are on the path of
- 43:15Russell, La La La La Wali, who are you selling them?
- 43:18Are we praying if your mom Hussein was able to establish
- 43:22the law in Karbala? He was able to, you know, still
- 43:25there, still stay still with all his companions and you know,
- 43:29ensuring Salah was done regardless of the arrows coming,
- 43:33regardless of the enemies charging, regardless of any of
- 43:36this, he still managed to do Salah.
- 43:37And I say this to myself, when I'm talking about Salah, I'm not
- 43:41telling anyone to go pray. I say this to myself first
- 43:44before I say it to anyone else. But if we are from the Shia of
- 43:46Hussein, Ma'am, Hussein wants to pray if we are from the Shia of
- 43:51Hussein. What's our relationship with the
- 43:53Quran? Because we know that after
- 43:56Karbala when Imam al Hussein's head was raised on the spear and
- 44:00was paraded from city to city, it was narrating his blessed
- 44:04lips were still speaking and saying the holy words of the
- 44:08Quran. Imam Hussein was still uttering
- 44:11the Noble Quran even was his head is on the spare.
- 44:15So as Shia. We have to, you know, make sure
- 44:19that Muharram is something more than just mourning and crying
- 44:24and lamenting and chest beating. Don't get me wrong, this chest
- 44:27and Sharla we beat until we die because this there was someone
- 44:31who sat on the chest. I say this is something we're
- 44:33never going to forget. But what's in our chest?
- 44:36Our heart. If we're beating our chest, is
- 44:38our hearts clear of arrogance? If we're beating our chest, is
- 44:41our hearts clear of ego? For beating our chest is our
- 44:44hearts clear of hates. For beating our our chest is our
- 44:47hearts on the path of truth. These are so much questions I
- 44:50have to ask myself and Charlotte's a reminder to
- 44:52everyone. That's more importantly and
- 44:55something so, so, so, so sincere that I want to really want to
- 44:58say the spots with the Zahras. And I lay her, you know, when we
- 45:02go to a measure this, she's there.
- 45:05She sees us walking in and she says us walking out.
- 45:09When we walk in and we sit down in the lecture and we hear them
- 45:12outside, when we walk out, let's stay the same.
- 45:14Let's not change. Last year we spoke about part
- 45:16time Muslims. I don't know if you remember
- 45:19this episode we did where we titled the part time Muslims.
- 45:21We don't want to say we're better than anyone, but let's be
- 45:26more than just ten nights Muslims cuz Fatima Tzara is
- 45:29watching and we know Fatima's connection with.
- 45:33Moment for saying because when Rasul Allah, I'll leave at this
- 45:35final point where Rasul Allah told Fatima Ali has Saddam was
- 45:39going to happen to her son, she told him, You know if you are
- 45:43saying Rasul Allah, she was talking to her father.
- 45:46If you are saying that people that claim to be from your Uma
- 45:50are the ones who are going to kill my son, who's going to move
- 45:54for him? Who's going to remember him?
- 45:57Who's going to cry over him, Who's going to hold my jealous
- 45:59for him, all of these things. Do you know what Rasul Allah
- 46:01told her? We said Fatima a loss of Hana
- 46:05who what I will create Shia of Hussein who will mourn Hussein
- 46:12forever. And we see this clear
- 46:14everywhere. Because you can go to any
- 46:16country in the world, You can go to all 7 continents.
- 46:18You see the flag of Lebeke Hussein on top of almost every
- 46:22house and not in the house and the House of the believers.
- 46:26That's a lot more like you about.
- 46:27It so thank you so much. You are on fire today.
- 46:35I am and it's not. I'm on fire because I'm angry.
- 46:40And it's not, I know. Today I saw the flag change.
- 46:45Yeah, and you know, we hit you. When you watch the flag change,
- 46:48Habibi, that's it. It's finished.
- 46:49It's finished. There is no way like you can be
- 46:52normal. I was watching the live stream
- 46:54as well. And in Karambala.
- 46:57And it just it just rips your heart to shreds how we yearn to
- 47:01be in Karambala these nights, Charlotte, We're granted
- 47:04visitation. Charlotte.
- 47:06With, with a pure heart and with a willingness to change, with a
- 47:11willingness to mourn for the Imam and be able to serve the
- 47:14Imam of our time. For those who follow us on
- 47:17Instagram, you guys will know that we asked a question.
- 47:21Earlier today, well when you part time listen to us a few
- 47:24days ago asking why Karbala and Ashrallah remains relevant today
- 47:28and I promised I'd give you guys a few shout outs you can
- 47:32probably see on my phone. Here we are like so many martial
- 47:37law responses and it's only been if like maybe 3-4 hours since we
- 47:40put this out. I'm just going to read a couple
- 47:43and just give you guys an understanding why you think
- 47:47Karbala and Ashrallah are still relevant today.
- 47:50Lavashid 695 To reflect between good and evil.
- 47:54Hakima Mahazan because they represent the struggle and
- 47:58against oppression and tyranny. Monteserbi Karbala gives us a
- 48:03framework to develop our communities against the fast
- 48:05moving western society. 10 lectures every year.
- 48:07But we need to take lessons about youth, marriage, hijabs,
- 48:10loyalty, etc. Sister Ramina Hashmani.
- 48:14It resets our moral compass, reminds us of our purpose.
- 48:17Softens our heart for change the values shown by each of the
- 48:19personalities on the battlefield of guiding points for what we
- 48:22should be. If I asked why it wasn't
- 48:24relevant, why isn't relevant, I wouldn't be able to answer.
- 48:26Its relevance is in our veins, and it fuels us.
- 48:29There's hundreds of here, someone else says.
- 48:30Without Imam Hussein and the tragedy of Kadabula, we would
- 48:33have had the wrong version of Islam.
- 48:35Someone else says drops of berries because through the much
- 48:38less lectures, recites, charities, blood donations, acts
- 48:41of services, Justice will always be certain, no matter how long
- 48:44justice will fight till it reaches the righteous.
- 48:46And I'll just mention one or two more, said Maybe you've seen
- 48:48some you like. Have you got it open?
- 48:50No, no, I just closed. I closed.
- 48:52I'll mention one or two more because there's so many, said
- 48:54Abdulla Naqlib, good friend of ours.
- 48:56The echo of Imam Hussein's call should awaken us to prepare for
- 49:00Imam and Mehdi. And one last one.
- 49:04From Shay in the 110 every day is our should I?
- 49:06Every land is Cutter Bala. If Cutter Bala wouldn't have
- 49:08happened we wouldn't have after market I didn't know this after
- 49:11market. A podcast today and all of our
- 49:12lives would be very different from what we know.
- 49:14I sent him to Zakah Lockhart and thank you to everyone for all of
- 49:18your contributions and in Charlotte we learn together.
- 49:20We we're on a journey of growth and we just pray that these
- 49:24coming nights are nights of. Of change and more than just
- 49:27reflection, reflection is a starting point for change.
- 49:31Of course, we know how much reflection is spoken about with
- 49:34the view to being a trigger for change in our personal lives, a
- 49:38catalyst for growth in our personal and our spiritual
- 49:42lives. We mentioned earlier, we
- 49:43mentioned again. These are nights of spirituality
- 49:46and in Charlotte, nights of mourning and grief for us all.
- 49:49Say it. Any last words before we wrap
- 49:51up. Just hold on to Hussain, honest
- 49:54to God, because Hussain is one of those ropes that you can hold
- 49:57on and lean on to take it towards the last part of masala.
- 49:59And you know, very famously they say we are all the arks of
- 50:04salvation of the ark. Of Imam and Hussain is wider and
- 50:09faster towards the loss of our last Carlton and.
- 50:11Charlotte, we're all aboard the ARC Front sisters.
