- 0:37Speaker 1: And we got another big splash this off season. Mike
- 0:40Speaker 1: Evans to the San Francisco forty nine Ers. This is
- 0:43Speaker 1: a move that I thought made a lot of sense
- 0:46Speaker 1: in a lot of ways for both sides. But I
- 0:49Speaker 1: wasn't sure Mike Evans would ever leave Tampa Bay. And
- 0:53Speaker 1: the conversations with Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch must have
- 0:56Speaker 1: been fantastic because he's a San Francisco forty nine er
- 0:59Speaker 1: now three year, six million dollars up to sixty million
- 1:03Speaker 1: dollars deal for a true X receiver, a future Hall
- 1:07Speaker 1: of Famer, a guy that can change the complexity of
- 1:11Speaker 1: a game and a heartbeat, a guy that you could
- 1:14Speaker 1: put a fifty to fifty ball up to and he
- 1:16Speaker 1: make a play, runs the entire route. Treat a true
- 1:20Speaker 1: X receiver sixty five two thirty aggressive, a great blocker,
- 1:24Speaker 1: a great teammate. If you think about it, on the field,
- 1:27Speaker 1: he's going to be a fantastic addition, a safety blanket
- 1:30Speaker 1: for brock Perdy. I mean, I would have guess he's
- 1:32Speaker 1: getting on hundred and twenty targets this season. Fingers cross
- 1:37Speaker 1: he stays totally healthy. But a bona fide one number
- 1:42Speaker 1: one receiver. Guy who can win win one on one matchups,
- 1:45Speaker 1: winning man coverage, a guy who has dealt with double
- 1:48Speaker 1: double teams, a smart player, a guy that can be
- 1:51Speaker 1: a mentor for this young receiver group. An incredible leader,
- 1:55Speaker 1: an incredible, consummate professional. He's gonna if he if he's healthy,
- 1:58Speaker 1: he's gonna practice, He's gonna practice hard. He's gonna do
- 2:01Speaker 1: things the right way. He's gonna help guys that ask
- 2:04Speaker 1: him for help. He's gonna show guys how to do
- 2:07Speaker 1: things off the field. I mean, they're not just bringing
- 2:10Speaker 1: in a great player and a Hall of Fame player,
- 2:11Speaker 1: but a hall of fame all around well rounded guy
- 2:15Speaker 1: and human being. And I think that's what's gonna make
- 2:17Speaker 1: this such a great addition to the San Francisco fort nine.
- 2:20Speaker 1: As you'll see the results on the field, but off
- 2:22Speaker 1: the field and the impact that he has on these
- 2:25Speaker 1: young receivers is gonna be immense, And that's something I
- 2:29Speaker 1: really look forward to seeing. How many more go balls?
- 2:34Speaker 1: Is fifty to fifty go balls? Is brock Purty gonna
- 2:36Speaker 1: put up? I would guess that number is gonna double,
- 2:39Speaker 1: no question about that. Are they going to make another
- 2:42Speaker 1: splash in this this offseason with this with these receivers,
- 2:45Speaker 1: could they potentially pursue a guy like Shahid, a deep threat,
- 2:50Speaker 1: a speed guy to partner with with Mike Evans and
- 2:53Speaker 1: Ricky Pursaul Potentially, I think that's that's something that I
- 2:57Speaker 1: would expect them to at least kick the kick the
- 2:59Speaker 1: tie on. But again, this is a huge, huge deal
- 3:04Speaker 1: for the San Francisco forty nine ers, getting a true
- 3:06Speaker 1: number one receiver who can do it all, who can
- 3:08Speaker 1: do it all, who can take the top off the defense,
- 3:10Speaker 1: who can run the intermediate routes, who can live in
- 3:13Speaker 1: the middle of the field and and and take big hits. Uh.
- 3:17Speaker 1: He could be a run that one after catch guy
- 3:19Speaker 1: at times. If he if he catches a lane, he
- 3:21Speaker 1: can he can get you a first down running slants. Uh.
- 3:24Speaker 1: He uses his body well. I mean, this is just
- 3:26Speaker 1: a guy who's done it. I mean, for him to
- 3:28Speaker 1: have so many consecutive thousand yard seasons. The only other
- 3:32Speaker 1: guy he's tied with Jerry Rice. The forty nine are
- 3:36Speaker 1: all time great, the all the goat at the receiver position.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And for him now to to call San Francisco home,
- 3:42Speaker 1: it's really cool. Now. The question I have is what
- 3:45Speaker 1: number is he gonna wear? Because he's not gonna wear
- 3:48Speaker 1: thirteen obviously, I brock Party has Thirteen's gonna be three?
- 3:50Speaker 1: Is it gonna be eleven? He's gonna stay in the teens.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Is he going to go into the eighties. I don't
- 3:54Speaker 1: see Mike going into the eighties, but I could be wrong.
- 3:57Speaker 1: But that's another big question. Is he gonna be I
- 4:00Speaker 1: mean two? Is three? Four? Non paneroes four? I don't know.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I don't know what he's gonna do with his number,
- 4:08Speaker 1: but I know this is gonna help the San Francisco
- 4:10Speaker 1: forty nine ers immensely in this again arms race in
- 4:14Speaker 1: the NFC West and on the other side of the coin.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I mean, we got to talk about Eddie Panero, Panero
- 4:20Speaker 1: getting secured a four year deal, what he did this season,
- 4:24Speaker 1: coming in a guy who had been kind of out
- 4:26Speaker 1: of the mix for a while. Was a fantastic pickup,
- 4:29Speaker 1: almost perfect this season for the San Francisco forty nine ers.
- 4:32Speaker 1: That's great. We're still waiting for a lot of the
- 4:35Speaker 1: other dominoes to fall. But on the flip side, the
- 4:39Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks are having themselves in all season, both retaining
- 4:45Speaker 1: guys like Josh Job, who just got retained for eight
- 4:48Speaker 1: million dollars a year. I thought that was a phenomenal
- 4:50Speaker 1: keep a guy that was essential to the defense they run.
- 4:55Speaker 1: They leave him backside a lot of times. He does
- 4:58Speaker 1: a great job in both man and man zone coverage,
- 5:00Speaker 1: has great zone instincts, great man instincts, great press. It
- 5:05Speaker 1: is fine being isolated one on one when it's a
- 5:08Speaker 1: three by one and they have man and man backside
- 5:10Speaker 1: and the safety's rolling away. He does a fantastic job.
- 5:13Speaker 1: And I thought, even for eight million dollars, that's a bargain.
- 5:16Speaker 1: That's a bargain for a guy of Josh Job's talent
- 5:19Speaker 1: and the way he played this season. So that's a
- 5:22Speaker 1: huge keep for the Seattle Seahawks. But they do lose
- 5:27Speaker 1: K nine. They lose the Super Bowl MVP, which is
- 5:31Speaker 1: something I predicted because of the number that he was
- 5:33Speaker 1: going to get to. I thought that other teams like
- 5:35Speaker 1: the Kansas City Chiefs would be higher on him and
- 5:38Speaker 1: have a higher number. And he gets what I believe
- 5:42Speaker 1: is the highest per year for a free agent running
- 5:46Speaker 1: back in the history of the National Football League at
- 5:48Speaker 1: fifteen million dollars a year, three for forty five. And
- 5:51Speaker 1: he deserves it. He deserves it, and he's gonna go
- 5:54Speaker 1: out there and do fantastic for the Chiefs. And I
- 5:57Speaker 1: think the Seattle Seahawks will be fine. I don't think
- 5:59Speaker 1: this is gonna be something that is incredibly detrimental to
- 6:04Speaker 1: what they have going. I think this is a situation
- 6:07Speaker 1: where where what's best for both sides kind of happened.
- 6:11Speaker 1: You know, Could the Seattle Seahawks maintain and and and
- 6:16Speaker 1: keep all the guys that they're gonna have to pay
- 6:19Speaker 1: Witherspoon and and JS and and all the rest of
- 6:23Speaker 1: the guys they are gonna have to shell out some
- 6:24Speaker 1: money to and keep K nine. I don't think they would.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So I think they they took the lesser of these
- 6:29Speaker 1: evils and said, hey, K nine, this is what we
- 6:31Speaker 1: can offer you if you can go out there and
- 6:33Speaker 1: get a huge bag, then congratulations, we love You'll You'll
- 6:36Speaker 1: be a Seahawks for life. You'll be a Super Bowl
- 6:38Speaker 1: MVP with the Seattle Seahawks for the rest of your life,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and that's gonna be a beautiful thing. But I don't
- 6:43Speaker 1: think they wanted to prohibit him from going out there
- 6:46Speaker 1: and getting them, you know, getting his bag, which is
- 6:48Speaker 1: what he did. I think they'll be able to find
- 6:51Speaker 1: an explosive running back that they feel comfortable about. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: think they feel good about Zach Sharburney and him coming
- 6:56Speaker 1: back into the fold, obviously coming off an injury, but
- 6:59Speaker 1: I think what he would doing throughout this season is
- 7:01Speaker 1: something they felt really good about. And I think another
- 7:06Speaker 1: piece of them losing Kobe Bryant is a little bit
- 7:09Speaker 1: more detrimental than I would like. But I feel like, again,
- 7:13Speaker 1: this is a storm they feel like they could weather.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Kobe winning got his three for forty million dollars with
- 7:18Speaker 1: the Chicago Bears, and that's a big time congratulations to him.
- 7:22Speaker 1: He deserves it. He's a fantastic player, a fantastic human being,
- 7:25Speaker 1: and a guy that will go out there and continue
- 7:27Speaker 1: to shine. But again, I think this is a situation
- 7:30Speaker 1: where even when guys go other places, I don't think
- 7:34Speaker 1: this is a situation where there's bad blood either way.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I think the organization wants the best for these guys,
- 7:39Speaker 1: and coming off a Super Bowl win, the positive energy
- 7:46Speaker 1: is to the max. And I think everybody tries to
- 7:49Speaker 1: get paid and there's only so much money that can
- 7:51Speaker 1: go around, and you got to keep the important pillar pieces.
- 7:54Speaker 1: You got to keep the foundational pieces to your organization
- 7:57Speaker 1: and guys that have helped you get here you appreciate.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But you also got to understand that, hey, can we
- 8:04Speaker 1: draft a guy? Do we have a guy in the
- 8:06Speaker 1: in the cut, in our backups that could potentially do
- 8:10Speaker 1: the job at a similar level. And I think the
- 8:12Speaker 1: Seahawks feel good about it. You know, when he got
- 8:14Speaker 1: hurt and was out for a while, Tayakata came in
- 8:17Speaker 1: and played at a high level, really really kept this
- 8:19Speaker 1: defense going and was flying around. And I think that
- 8:22Speaker 1: was an important part of this decision. Not that they
- 8:25Speaker 1: wouldn't have wanted to pay Kobe, you know, his his
- 8:28Speaker 1: what he's due, but could they pay him and keep
- 8:31Speaker 1: the guys that they needed to keep. They're gonna have
- 8:33Speaker 1: to pay high dollar numbers for JSN. I would guess
- 8:36Speaker 1: he's gonna approach forty million dollars, and I think the
- 8:41Speaker 1: same is true for Devin Witherspoon. He's gonna be thirty
- 8:43Speaker 1: one million dollars. And if you look at what the
- 8:45Speaker 1: Rams just did again, it's an arms race in NFC
- 8:48Speaker 1: right now. They traded for Trent McDuffie a couple first
- 8:52Speaker 1: a lot of picks, a first round pick, a fifth
- 8:54Speaker 1: of six. I mean, we talked about it the other day,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and then went on and paid him over one hundred
- 8:58Speaker 1: million dollars a year. He's at averaging thirty one million
- 9:01Speaker 1: dollars per season with this new deal with the Rams,
- 9:04Speaker 1: which is incredibly huge. I mean, that's that's a monumental deal.
- 9:07Speaker 1: So congratulations to him, Friend of the program again. Then
- 9:12Speaker 1: they go on and pick up Jalen Watson, who was
- 9:16Speaker 1: the running mate of Trent McDuffie in Kansas City, and
- 9:19Speaker 1: pay him what appears to be seventeen million dollars a year.
- 9:23Speaker 1: So you bring in two new corners who haven't played
- 9:25Speaker 1: it down for you, who have been fantastic players and
- 9:28Speaker 1: played fantastic in big games. Two times Super Bowl champion
- 9:32Speaker 1: Jalen Watson and then you inject him into this Rams
- 9:35Speaker 1: defense with a really great and aggressive pass rush. They're
- 9:38Speaker 1: going to play a lot of man coverage. I'm sure
- 9:40Speaker 1: Chris Schula is excited about this. We heard rumblings and
- 9:43Speaker 1: rumors that Tarik Woolan may be an option and there
- 9:46Speaker 1: may be interest there. I don't think that would be
- 9:48Speaker 1: the case anymore after paying these two guys, unless he's
- 9:51Speaker 1: you're paying him, unless you're gonna pay another corner over
- 9:54Speaker 1: fifteen million dollars, which I highly doubt. But we'll see
- 9:58Speaker 1: what this move looks like. I mean, this is this
- 10:00Speaker 1: is great. This is gonna be a really formidable Rams
- 10:02Speaker 1: defense along with a really aggressive, impotent offense. Obviously, this
- 10:07Speaker 1: same team made the NFC Championship last year, and we're
- 10:10Speaker 1: a few plays away from winning that game. But the
- 10:13Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks did more than enough to win that game,
- 10:15Speaker 1: and they're the reigning Super Bowl champion, So the Rams
- 10:18Speaker 1: are feeling like they have to keep up in this division.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Then you got the San Francisco forty nine ers, not
- 10:23Speaker 1: only bringing in Mike Effans but just getting healthier. They
- 10:28Speaker 1: Fred Warner's back, Nicholas john Bosa is back, and I'm
- 10:33Speaker 1: hearing trade rumors and people call them for Fred Warner.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I'm sure the forty nine ers are picking up the phone,
- 10:39Speaker 1: but I don't think that's a trade that is likely.
- 10:42Speaker 1: This organization loves Fred Warner and loves what he means
- 10:45Speaker 1: to this organization. I think they want him to be
- 10:47Speaker 1: a forty nine Er for life. Crazier things have happened,
- 10:49Speaker 1: no question about it, but I don't think that is
- 10:52Speaker 1: something at the forefront of their mind unless it's an
- 10:55Speaker 1: offer that just really blows them away. I mean, you're
- 10:57Speaker 1: talking about two to three first round picks, like something
- 11:00Speaker 1: ridiculously incredible that you could not say no to. And
- 11:03Speaker 1: I don't see John Lynch making that deal because of
- 11:06Speaker 1: what Fred Warner means to this defense. He's the heart
- 11:09Speaker 1: of this defense and you could just see it. Last
- 11:11Speaker 1: year was a perfect example. When he was not a
- 11:13Speaker 1: part of it, it was hard to find turnovers, it
- 11:17Speaker 1: was hard to find stops, it was hard to find
- 11:19Speaker 1: the kind of consistency that they've been accustomed to. So
- 11:23Speaker 1: I don't see that changing. But I'm loving this arms
- 11:26Speaker 1: race I'm seeing from the NFC West. Another huge trait
- 11:29Speaker 1: that happened this offseason is Max mad Max Max Crosby
- 11:34Speaker 1: going to the Baltimore Ravens to help solidify that defense.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I think that's a great move for both sides. Obviously,
- 11:40Speaker 1: the Raiders are in rebuilt mode with a new staff
- 11:43Speaker 1: trying to figure things out. They're having a pretty good
- 11:45Speaker 1: offseason signing some guys. They just signed Tyler Linnenbaum to
- 11:50Speaker 1: one of the highest paid offensive line contracts in the
- 11:52Speaker 1: history of the league. I think they gave him eighty
- 11:56Speaker 1: one million dollars. They signed Tyler al Jear, So they're
- 12:00Speaker 1: they're they're starting to to to inject a little bit
- 12:04Speaker 1: of talent on that side. But I think for the Ravens,
- 12:07Speaker 1: this is this is a win now mode. This is
- 12:09Speaker 1: strengthening already strong defense and saying hey, we're we're we're
- 12:14Speaker 1: gonna be a force to be reckoned with. Baltimore Ravens
- 12:17Speaker 1: have been known for their defense for a long time,
- 12:19Speaker 1: and obviously they have talent on the other side of
- 12:22Speaker 1: the ball with with Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson. But
- 12:27Speaker 1: Max Crosby is a game changer on the other side.
- 12:29Speaker 1: And if you just look at that division, I'd hate
- 12:31Speaker 1: to be a quarterback in that division. You're talking about
- 12:33Speaker 1: Miles Garrett. With the Cleveland Browns, you're talking about Max Crosby.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Now with the Ravens, you don't have Trey Hendrickson anymore.
- 12:40Speaker 1: But then you're talking about t J. Watt uh And
- 12:43Speaker 1: and the boys over there in Pittsburgh, it's murderers Row.
- 12:46Speaker 1: And if you're Joe Burrow, you're like, oh, I mean
- 12:50Speaker 1: you might want to start thinking about taking a little
- 12:52Speaker 1: less to get you a little bit more protection, Joe.
- 12:54Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying. You might want to start considering
- 12:58Speaker 1: your health. Your health, that's all I'm saying. This has
- 13:02Speaker 1: been a great offseason. What's happening in Miami is interesting.
- 13:07Speaker 1: It looks like they're going to cut to a tongue
- 13:10Speaker 1: of Iloa, which was obvious with the new staff and
- 13:14Speaker 1: all this, But how much money they owe him is
- 13:16Speaker 1: Oh my god, this dead money stuff is starting to
- 13:19Speaker 1: They're gonna pay him fifty million dollars a year to
- 13:21Speaker 1: go away. I mean, it's bad. And then you hear
- 13:25Speaker 1: the rumors that the Atlanta Falcons are interested in to
- 13:28Speaker 1: a tongue of Ailoa, and I just it's hard for
- 13:31Speaker 1: me to understand the interest and the god that another
- 13:33Speaker 1: team is paying fifty million dollars to go away. But
- 13:35Speaker 1: I especially with the way the quarterback situation has been
- 13:38Speaker 1: in Atlanta over the last couple of years, you lose
- 13:40Speaker 1: your head coach and your general manager because the way
- 13:43Speaker 1: the quarterback situation was dealt with, and to walk back
- 13:46Speaker 1: in that, I don't want any part of it. But
- 13:49Speaker 1: we'll see, you know, to a tongue of Iloa is
- 13:51Speaker 1: a good guy and has found a way to play
- 13:54Speaker 1: at a high level in this league at times, and
- 13:57Speaker 1: maybe a change of scenery would be good for him.
- 13:59Speaker 1: But I think if they were that interested, then maybe
- 14:02Speaker 1: Miami would have been able to navigate a trade that
- 14:04Speaker 1: might have helped them salary cap wise if that was
- 14:08Speaker 1: the case. But you know, we'll see how this free
- 14:10Speaker 1: agency pans out. But right now, I think this is
- 14:13Speaker 1: a fantastic move for the San Francisco forty nine ers,
- 14:15Speaker 1: getting them a true number one receiver in Mike Evans. Obviously,
- 14:18Speaker 1: all the chaos around the Brandon Ayuk situation, they're getting
- 14:22Speaker 1: away from that and starting to find some consistency and
- 14:28Speaker 1: just calmness about this situation. I think he's gonna be
- 14:32Speaker 1: a June first cut from what I understand about what
- 14:35Speaker 1: they've been saying publicly about the Brandon Ayuk situation. I
- 14:39Speaker 1: think this helps Ricky Pursall. I think this helps George Kittle.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I think this helps the San Francisco forty nine ers
- 14:44Speaker 1: in general. As always, we're gonna keep giving you free
- 14:47Speaker 1: agency news as it comes up. Stay tuned, stay with
- 14:52Speaker 1: us all off season long, because this is gonna be fun.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I can't wait and hit that's up. But if you
- 14:58Speaker 1: knew
