Sex Offender Evades Registry for a Year | Gainesville News
A shady encounter near Highway 441 turned into a major bust when officers caught Benjamin McDaniel, a 62-year-old registered sex offender with an active warrant, evading arrest. After initially playing dumb and using a fake name, authorities uncovered he’d been living in Alachua for a year without properly registering his address—a serious violation. He was soon re-arrested, now facing charges and held at the Alachua County Jail, underscoring the critical role of compliance in protecting public safety.
