- 0:17Speaker 1: All return to Glory podcast Hunters Are Maked Go to
- 0:22Speaker 1: free tag Austin Rose. It's February seventeenth. We are all
- 0:27Speaker 1: back for the first time in a couple of weeks.
- 0:30Speaker 2: We've been.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Snick under the weather.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with the sickness.
- 0:36Speaker 1: It's been tough, very rough. Okay, definitely listening to Austin
- 0:44Speaker 1: and I last week.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Yes, I did a little bit. I didn't.
- 0:49Speaker 4: I didn't finish it that you didn't. Yeah, I did
- 0:52Speaker 4: the beginning about fifteen minutes.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I did great episode, guys.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Yeah, people on my death. I was not able to
- 1:02Speaker 4: do anything that night.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Really, it sound better now.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Feel a lot better, Thank God.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Good good Buskers basketball team Northwestern twenty points down, come
- 1:20Speaker 1: back win Topic number one. Fred Hoiberg broken hand. I
- 1:26Speaker 1: don't know if he broke his hand, but bandage, bandage, tanned.
- 1:30Speaker 1: It's a whiteboard, big gig, huge game needed for the
- 1:37Speaker 1: postseason here, I'll be honest. I was following along the
- 1:42Speaker 1: first half and would just kind of upset with the
- 1:44Speaker 1: world with how that game was going. And then I
- 1:46Speaker 1: watched I turned it on right when we were down
- 1:48Speaker 1: about sixteen and saw the rest of it, and it
- 1:54Speaker 1: was pretty fun. To watch.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I didn't see it.
- 2:00Speaker 5: I you know, I was gonna be busy, and then
- 2:03Speaker 5: I was checking the score because like I might have
- 2:05Speaker 5: some time I could.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Turn on on you know, Maddie's phone or something. And
- 2:09Speaker 3: down twenty is like I don't want to freaking watch
- 2:11Speaker 3: the rest that game. Like it's fine, I'll admit I
- 2:15Speaker 3: gave up.
- 2:17Speaker 2: So did you? Did you shut it off too? I?
- 2:19Speaker 4: I shot off when it was forty one twenty one,
- 2:21Speaker 4: I said, well that's the end of that.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I just looked at the score and didn't pull it up.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And then when I saw that we won, I thought
- 2:27Speaker 3: it was like, oh, did the women play Northwestern today too?
- 2:32Speaker 4: Well, they were just hitting everything Northwestern too. It was
- 2:34Speaker 4: like in Nebraska just like terrible. It couldn't couldn't take
- 2:37Speaker 4: care of the ball or anything, make any shots. So
- 2:39Speaker 4: I was like, well, this is over, Like no point
- 2:42Speaker 4: watching the rest of this.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Well that's actually that game was a microcosm of the
- 2:47Speaker 1: entire season where we felt like, you know, we nobody cared,
- 2:54Speaker 1: we didn't care, like it was stupid. And then we
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know, go on this huge run aka winning you know,
- 2:59Speaker 1: four were in a row like we just did and
- 3:03Speaker 1: we feel like we're, you know, a lock in the tournament,
- 3:07Speaker 1: and then we end up winning the game. And here
- 3:10Speaker 1: we are pretty not not yet a lock, but we're
- 3:14Speaker 1: creeping closer to getting that bids.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Two of the.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Five I think everybody agrees that that is will do it,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and two of those games being very very I mean
- 3:32Speaker 1: three of them are at home, you know, on the
- 3:34Speaker 1: road at Penn State. I think that you know, you
- 3:38Speaker 1: you like our chances heading into Marsh, but I want
- 3:42Speaker 1: to stay on that Northwestern game because like heading to Northwestern,
- 3:47Speaker 1: we have not won there since anybody here the stat
- 3:50Speaker 1: dak when was the last in Nebraska one at Northwestern.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Nineteen?
- 3:56Speaker 1: No way, I'll shut.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Up thousand and six.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Probably we got we got here in we got here
- 4:04Speaker 1: in twenty ten. We won in twenty fourteen. Was the
- 4:06Speaker 1: last time we've won at Northwestern. For whatever reason, we've
- 4:11Speaker 1: struggled there. They obviously are well banged up this year,
- 4:15Speaker 1: but and towards the bottom. But we came out and
- 4:18Speaker 1: did what we've done on the road, Layden egg to start,
- 4:22Speaker 1: but the impressive comeback, rallying behind whatever they needed to find.
- 4:31Speaker 1: And I completely agree with this theory or statement, you know,
- 4:35Speaker 1: fred Hoiberg getting pissed and punching something coming from Fred
- 4:41Speaker 1: Hoiberg probably means a lot like how can that not
- 4:44Speaker 1: get you fired up?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Now?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Like I heard someone say too, if it came from
- 4:47Speaker 1: one of the Hurly brothers, you'd be like, okay, like
- 4:51Speaker 1: whatever every week.
- 4:53Speaker 2: At every five minutes of the game of them.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And it sounded like after the game, but he was
- 4:58Speaker 1: mad at himself, like he sounded like, I shouldn't have
- 5:03Speaker 1: did that for my health type of comment, which which
- 5:07Speaker 1: is funny, but but again coming from a guy like that,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you really gotta go whoa, like, let's let's do this
- 5:15Speaker 1: and and that's what happened also after the Maryland loss
- 5:20Speaker 1: on Thursday, because we also in a podcast since then.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Jean Geary, you know, in the post game press conference
- 5:28Speaker 1: talking about, you know, the disappoint in the lack of urgency,
- 5:33Speaker 1: the you know, playing hard for four quarters thirty two minutes.
- 5:38Speaker 1: You know, he's like, I get, we have guys that
- 5:39Speaker 1: were sick, with Bryce and Connor both not feeling great.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But he goes, we didn't feel like we had that
- 5:46Speaker 1: extra edge or whatever, like he called players out and
- 5:48Speaker 1: that I mean, that's that's Juan for you. I mean
- 5:50Speaker 1: that he is the mental and evotional leader for this
- 5:55Speaker 1: team and both the good and the bad.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I agree.
- 6:04Speaker 5: I think you know, obviously we would all agree Joan
- 6:07Speaker 5: and Bryce are two most important players. Like it's those
- 6:11Speaker 5: two and there's a hard shelf and a big drop
- 6:14Speaker 5: before Sam Foyburg.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So this is where I wanted to go because I
- 6:21Speaker 1: think you know bar K was injured yep, that's true,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and didn't play. You get injured late in that Maryland
- 6:29Speaker 1: They know he played in the Maryland game. I don't
- 6:33Speaker 1: think so you got hurt the game before Maryland and
- 6:35Speaker 1: we played play that one, you know, hurt his ankle.
- 6:40Speaker 1: He is another one to talk about. So I think
- 6:44Speaker 1: we can all agree Bryce and Juwan or one too.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And I mean, to me, it's no question Bryce is one.
- 6:49Speaker 1: You just you just look at what he's done in
- 6:52Speaker 1: our wins and losses. It's pretty evident that he is
- 6:56Speaker 1: the big key, which was predicted before the year. Juwan
- 7:00Speaker 1: being you know, the senior leader, defensive captain, energy man.
- 7:07Speaker 1: You know, those two guys, they don't leave the court
- 7:09Speaker 1: unless they're in voul trouble. Here's where this gets interesting
- 7:13Speaker 1: next because I think we might have some different differing opinions,
- 7:16Speaker 1: and just based on our philosophies about basketball, who do
- 7:20Speaker 1: you guys think is the next most important? I agree
- 7:23Speaker 1: there's a drop off, but who do you think is
- 7:24Speaker 1: next most important to the team.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Mine's not even a starter.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Ooh, you're gonna go with.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Go ahead?
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead it.
- 7:38Speaker 4: I think I think it's a Siegeon. I mean there's
- 7:44Speaker 4: some there's some games. He doesn't play that much, so
- 7:49Speaker 4: that's one reason I was like, as he third the best,
- 7:51Speaker 4: but his scoring is so big for this team because
- 7:54Speaker 4: outside those two, no one else can you count on
- 7:56Speaker 4: to give you ten to fifteen a night, like a
- 7:59Speaker 4: siege in can and you need that scoring.
- 8:02Speaker 5: I will agree our offense is it's pretty Bryce Gary
- 8:07Speaker 5: or I should say Williams Gary heavy, like that is
- 8:09Speaker 5: kind of.
- 8:12Speaker 3: When things are when we're scoring. They're the two that
- 8:15Speaker 3: are kind of.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Carrying it and who don't have it, you're done.
- 8:19Speaker 1: He is my four. And for a lot of the
- 8:23Speaker 1: reasons you guys are mentioning, we saw last year the
- 8:27Speaker 1: past couple of years what our offense is like with
- 8:30Speaker 1: a guy like Case on the court, that when you
- 8:32Speaker 1: have someone that can just flat out shoot it. It
- 8:36Speaker 1: opens up a lot a season. Is that guy we
- 8:41Speaker 1: didn't know. We knew he could shoot right coming from Wisconsin,
- 8:44Speaker 1: that's one thing he was good at, but we didn't
- 8:46Speaker 1: know what he would be like. But he's proven himself
- 8:49Speaker 1: this season that he is that guy. When he's on
- 8:53Speaker 1: the court, you have to chase him, you have to
- 8:54Speaker 1: lock onto him. You cannot give him a glimpse of Look,
- 8:56Speaker 1: he has a damn good three point shooter. I have
- 9:00Speaker 1: him at four, though I have someone else at three awesome.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I'man to see who you have a three.
- 9:05Speaker 3: I think I have Hoiberg at three. I really do.
- 9:08Speaker 3: I think he puts in the effort. I know, stats
- 9:12Speaker 3: wise he's not great, but.
- 9:16Speaker 5: I just feel like we're way better when he's on
- 9:18Speaker 5: in the court then when he's off, even though he's
- 9:20Speaker 5: has some defensive issues, but not like from an efforts,
- 9:23Speaker 5: just from a pure size point.
- 9:25Speaker 1: So here's my ear's a dynamic with that that you know. Obviously,
- 9:28Speaker 1: being Fred's kid, we don't know the true dynamic of
- 9:34Speaker 1: the locker room and how that goes. I mean there's
- 9:36Speaker 1: there's good and bad when you have a coaches kidding
- 9:38Speaker 1: the team and the coaches kids playing a lot too.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I'm a part of the rotation and he should be.
- 9:43Speaker 1: You know, Austin's got him ranked three for these reasons
- 9:48Speaker 1: like we're importance, not so much who's better, who's best,
- 9:51Speaker 1: but importance for the team. And I struggled with Sam
- 9:55Speaker 1: and I went the opposite route with him. And I
- 9:58Speaker 1: don't think I don't I don't think that being the
- 10:01Speaker 1: coach's kid is a huge, like chemistry thing. But I
- 10:05Speaker 1: can see that angle, like you take Sam off and
- 10:11Speaker 1: things like Sam was for sure last year he was
- 10:14Speaker 1: in the core. We look different on the defensive end too,
- 10:16Speaker 1: even I mean liability defense. He also does a lot
- 10:19Speaker 1: of really good things.
- 10:20Speaker 3: For us too.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Just yeah, energy wise, I could see that.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I have a bold one here at three.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Are you just all right? I'm gonna hear I'm gonna
- 10:33Speaker 3: I have a guess, gonna be appalled.
- 10:37Speaker 1: This is a little bit of my uh ball thinking,
- 10:42Speaker 1: thinking I have Rolly Wooster.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Yeah, while that is not who I thought it was,
- 10:48Speaker 2: Oh well, that's what I thought it.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Was gonna be.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Here's the thing he does takes he's he's not super
- 10:57Speaker 1: skilled on the offensive side, and he also is not
- 11:04Speaker 1: a good shooter. Here's the thing with Rally, he's a
- 11:10Speaker 1: damn good defender size wise, and Barti Etherton's point guard.
- 11:18Speaker 1: He is very very good defensively. He's one of our
- 11:21Speaker 1: stronger defenders on the ball, plays hard, all that stuff. Two,
- 11:25Speaker 1: he is a veteran guy that's been on a few
- 11:28Speaker 1: different teams. He's old, experienced, and I think the guys
- 11:35Speaker 1: respect him for that. Like sometimes when you're an older
- 11:38Speaker 1: guy coming in, you get and especially with that type
- 11:43Speaker 1: of offensive black thereof offensive skill set, you might kind
- 11:48Speaker 1: of be like, Okay, what's what the hell is this
- 11:50Speaker 1: guy playing for? Clearly there's this leadership and intangible, intangible
- 11:55Speaker 1: component that he brings to this team. That and when
- 11:59Speaker 1: I did this, I'm like, Okay, if he's out, who's
- 12:02Speaker 1: playing that point guard? Spot uless? And I think there's
- 12:06Speaker 1: a very big drop off, very very very big. Now,
- 12:09Speaker 1: maybe Bryce brings you know, plays point guard. You know
- 12:13Speaker 1: we saw that last year. Some I think this team
- 12:16Speaker 1: needed a point guard like Raley, Like what he what
- 12:20Speaker 1: he's doing? I think he's he does a lot of
- 12:22Speaker 1: And there's another weird thing, and I always am confused
- 12:26Speaker 1: by it because he's not great offensively. There's a reason
- 12:28Speaker 1: for it. Late shot clock, where's the ball at Often
- 12:31Speaker 1: it's usually in Bryce's hands when we can get it
- 12:35Speaker 1: to him. Second is Raleigh like it is if you
- 12:39Speaker 1: watch his play, he has the ball and I am
- 12:42Speaker 1: always like why and he does some stupid stuff, but
- 12:45Speaker 1: he's strong enough to get to the rim and he
- 12:47Speaker 1: get a crazy, crazy three after getting swatted here against
- 12:52Speaker 1: Northwestern this week. I think he's third most important. I
- 12:57Speaker 1: don't think he's the third best player, but I think
- 12:59Speaker 1: if you take him off the team, you go, oh, boy, like,
- 13:03Speaker 1: who's playing point guard? Who's getting this into our stuff?
- 13:08Speaker 1: I have him three, And that's also my way of
- 13:10Speaker 1: thinking for basketball.
- 13:11Speaker 5: So interestingly enough, if you go based off a minute
- 13:14Speaker 5: to play this year, Bryce is one, Jawan's two, and
- 13:19Speaker 5: then Rawley is three, and then Sam and Connor is
- 13:24Speaker 5: season basically have the same for four and five, So.
- 13:31Speaker 3: It does kind of. I mean, our rankings aren't too
- 13:33Speaker 3: far off of what Fred has them at.
- 13:35Speaker 1: So I have Sam at six, I have Bark at five.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Bark is the next one. Yeah, at four.
- 13:49Speaker 1: We saw him go out against Maryland. Wasn't a drop
- 13:52Speaker 1: off from Barrik to Morgan and or Mia? Yes, you
- 13:58Speaker 1: have played all right, yesterday though, yeah, me and me,
- 14:01Speaker 1: they do some decent things, Like I don't think there's
- 14:03Speaker 1: as big of a drop off there when you take
- 14:06Speaker 1: out some of these other guys, And bar K is
- 14:08Speaker 1: a lot better offensively than especially Mia. You know what,
- 14:14Speaker 1: though Mia does what he does, he does his role
- 14:17Speaker 1: well Morgan. You know, Morgan's good enough and skilled enough
- 14:21Speaker 1: offensively that we do some stuff for him to let
- 14:23Speaker 1: him go on one in the post like those guys that.
- 14:27Speaker 1: So I had Sam six, Morgan seven eight, and then
- 14:30Speaker 1: I was at Ulyss nine. But now that was my
- 14:36Speaker 1: rankings as far as importance goes.
- 14:40Speaker 3: I think I have probably I had Sam three, bar
- 14:44Speaker 3: K and then Robley than Morgan, than Mia, than Ulis.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Yeah I went, I went bar K, Morgan, Wooster, Holyberg,
- 14:57Speaker 4: mea Ulis, and then I had griff Is tens, which
- 15:00Speaker 4: I almost just put him out, Like as far as
- 15:05Speaker 4: him on your list, you have to throw him on there,
- 15:06Speaker 4: just just to make sure that he's last.
- 15:11Speaker 2: No.
- 15:12Speaker 4: I think with Rawley though, how much how much he's
- 15:18Speaker 4: improved offensively is the year has gone on, Like you
- 15:20Speaker 4: can see him try to score, he's actually driving the
- 15:22Speaker 4: hole and scoring.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Now he has gotten better going on.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Yeah, he was at the Game of the Year. He
- 15:26Speaker 2: couldn't do anything offensively.
- 15:28Speaker 3: He still can't hardly do anything offensively, but he was.
- 15:31Speaker 2: But you're getting something from him. Yeah, he's not. He's
- 15:36Speaker 2: not lightning in a bottle quick, that's what.
- 15:38Speaker 1: You're Yeah, I just think I just think he's important.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I think he's he's a blue guy. He's I mean,
- 15:44Speaker 1: I think Gary is the definition of a glue guy.
- 15:46Speaker 1: But I think from a from a point guard standpoint,
- 15:48Speaker 1: and it's Raley and the stuff that he does is like,
- 15:52Speaker 1: I don't mind him. I know some people really don't
- 15:55Speaker 1: like him when you're like, what what is going on?
- 15:57Speaker 1: Like why is this guy playing? Why is the ball
- 15:58Speaker 1: in his hands? But I think it's it's it's more
- 16:00Speaker 1: of that that experience, the veteran status that he holds
- 16:05Speaker 1: in college basketball. And he looks like he looks like
- 16:08Speaker 1: he could belong in a in a men's league y
- 16:13Speaker 1: MC a team and just would kick everybody's button. He would.
- 16:18Speaker 1: But that's what that's what he looks like. He's built, like,
- 16:20Speaker 1: that's what his face looks like.
- 16:22Speaker 5: It Gosh, I'm just looking through his game by game stats.
- 16:28Speaker 5: Don't look at the offensive numbers because it is not pretty.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Although he got benched for a little bit at the
- 16:36Speaker 4: Was it one game or two games where you list started?
- 16:38Speaker 4: I think it's only one because you found out pretty
- 16:40Speaker 4: quick that was a mistake.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it was when we were on our little little
- 16:44Speaker 1: uh scoring drought that are winning drout there?
- 16:48Speaker 2: Yep, yeah, he started.
- 16:50Speaker 4: U listen, boy, that you found out quick that that
- 16:52Speaker 4: guy is not you. You tried to play him as
- 16:55Speaker 4: little as possible.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Gosh, you know what this team needs needs drank manst
- 17:01Speaker 3: That's all I need.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Is I was thinking about that last night. If they
- 17:05Speaker 2: had rank mast.
- 17:08Speaker 1: It would help a lot.
- 17:09Speaker 3: It would.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Well where we're sitting right now as of this morning.
- 17:16Speaker 1: On bracket Matrix, which has every bracket on the internet
- 17:21Speaker 1: that updates it frequently and what they considered reliable, there's
- 17:24Speaker 1: ninety seven of them, ninety six and the ninety seven
- 17:27Speaker 1: have usin averaging out to a nine point five four
- 17:32Speaker 1: seed and nine being the highest, eleven being the lowest.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I think Lunardi and Lunardi from ESPN's got us a
- 17:43Speaker 1: ten seed and Palmer from CBS as a nine seed.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I think that's where we belong. I think, you know,
- 17:54Speaker 1: I think we did probably these two games what most
- 17:57Speaker 1: people thought we would do. These two games. I think
- 18:00Speaker 1: I've been winning both of them probably would have been
- 18:02Speaker 1: a little bit better than expected, and going one on
- 18:07Speaker 1: one was probably about expected. In the Northwestern Maryland game.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Yeah not not I expected on the Thirsting game to go.
- 18:14Speaker 2: But the result was the same what.
- 18:15Speaker 1: You thought, Oh kind of. I mean we were only
- 18:18Speaker 1: a one and a half point favor so it's not
- 18:20Speaker 1: like it's not and it's it's a quadter one win.
- 18:24Speaker 1: And I think some people, I know some people that
- 18:28Speaker 1: are just what, how is that a quad one win? Well,
- 18:31Speaker 1: it goes off those new any the new ant rankings,
- 18:35Speaker 1: the net rankings, and if you're on the road on
- 18:38Speaker 1: a team that's seventy five or better to quad one win,
- 18:42Speaker 1: and that I think that's our sixth quad one win
- 18:44Speaker 1: this year, which looks really good in the resume. You
- 18:47Speaker 1: want to look at some of the games we've lost
- 18:49Speaker 1: in the scores that you know, you maybe you think
- 18:51Speaker 1: a different story, but I do think you know, committee
- 18:54Speaker 1: and and bracketologists, they look at quality wins versus bad losses.
- 18:59Speaker 1: For I think that's one of the things that has
- 19:04Speaker 1: looked at quite a bit and so having those wins
- 19:06Speaker 1: is huge when it comes to selection Sunday.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and I mean you look at the loss of
- 19:11Speaker 3: Maryland top twenty five and we're missing okay, like and
- 19:17Speaker 3: Bryce and Connor bull sick and Bryce and Connor bos sick. Yep.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Oh, I was gonna throw one more thing about Morgan
- 19:33Speaker 4: in there. That guy, he just seems to get the
- 19:37Speaker 4: Tommy buckets he doys need like every and and he
- 19:43Speaker 4: has to have the most and ones on team by
- 19:45Speaker 4: a mile every time. Of he gets hacked every time
- 19:47Speaker 4: he goes up to shoot. Not say he makes every time,
- 19:50Speaker 4: but he just gets drilled every time he goes up
- 19:51Speaker 4: to shoot.
- 19:52Speaker 3: You honestly, kind of feels like rank mass light. Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 3: how he gets his points.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Yep, he's with out the shooting, but yeah, yeah he's not.
- 20:03Speaker 4: You aren't gonna although he can't hit a three every
- 20:05Speaker 4: now and man. But but this was from me and
- 20:09Speaker 4: a Morgan has been I think you're almost biggest preman
- 20:12Speaker 4: of the season.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So it's been funny the last couple of games with
- 20:15Speaker 1: me has got quite a bit of minutes, especially and
- 20:20Speaker 1: I again, he's still a good defender, shot blocker, all
- 20:24Speaker 1: of that and he's actually got some hands on some
- 20:27Speaker 1: rebounds and some easy dump down finishes on offense, and
- 20:32Speaker 1: so I do think he's he is playing better than
- 20:36Speaker 1: what his role has been all year so far through
- 20:40Speaker 1: these last couple of games.
- 20:44Speaker 4: He also, I don't know, if you guys knows best
- 20:47Speaker 4: free throw shooting the last like four games that he
- 20:50Speaker 4: actually can make him Now.
- 20:53Speaker 5: I would say that's one thing that Frey Hoover like
- 20:55Speaker 5: from his first couple of years as a coach to now, like,
- 20:58Speaker 5: we're actually a good free throw shooting team.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, best in the league.
- 21:03Speaker 5: But those first couple of years, I mean, we were
- 21:05Speaker 5: lucky to shoot over fifty as a team. Now it's
- 21:08Speaker 5: at least like seventy something. It's pretty competitive.
- 21:12Speaker 1: So it's and I don't know how all these colleges work,
- 21:18Speaker 1: but I mean, free throw shooting is it's one of
- 21:20Speaker 1: those weird things to coach as a high school basketball
- 21:24Speaker 1: coach too. It's it's it's just it's different. It's obviously
- 21:29Speaker 1: a skill, it's a free shot, and it's very mental
- 21:35Speaker 1: because everyone's watching you. Everybody's still basically while you're shooting it.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And there's a big mental side of it too as well.
- 21:43Speaker 1: But I think the one way just to get over
- 21:45Speaker 1: that is is one finding a way to mentally clear
- 21:49Speaker 1: your mind out and then to repetition, repetition, repetition on
- 21:52Speaker 1: free throws. And and I don't know what our staff
- 21:55Speaker 1: has done and changed to help that, but I do know,
- 21:59Speaker 1: like for example, Michigan State, and we were able to
- 22:02Speaker 1: see some of the stuff at their practices, they have
- 22:05Speaker 1: trackers on every hoop in their practice facility that tracks
- 22:09Speaker 1: every shot by every player, who it was shot by,
- 22:12Speaker 1: where it was shot from. And that's one way of
- 22:16Speaker 1: just tracking free throws. And they talked about how they,
- 22:18Speaker 1: you know, shoot x amount of free throws a day
- 22:22Speaker 1: before and after practice and they can track all of
- 22:25Speaker 1: that very easily. So I'm guessing technology is allowing for
- 22:29Speaker 1: you know, some obviously Division one programs Nebraska to be
- 22:33Speaker 1: very advanced and helping with a lot of that stuff,
- 22:36Speaker 1: and it's paid off. Like Bryce's I didn't have any
- 22:39Speaker 1: questions when Bryce is going to the line late against Northwestern.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I mean it was like great, great job, Like they
- 22:44Speaker 1: fouled him and he's like a ninety one percent free
- 22:46Speaker 1: throw shooter.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Yeah, he's He's definitely her by far went closer. Bryce
- 22:55Speaker 4: is and I think Jawani gets you through his rough
- 22:57Speaker 4: stretches too. Like they they pay each other on n
- 23:00Speaker 4: sleep with, they're good ones to duo. It's just it's
- 23:02Speaker 4: just Kenny getting enough from the other guys. And you
- 23:05Speaker 4: don't need a lot, just just someone.
- 23:08Speaker 2: To step up.
- 23:13Speaker 1: All right, any more? Husker basketball news talk.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Uh ladies are doing well also looking to have like
- 23:21Speaker 5: the same record as the men and probably gonna be
- 23:24Speaker 5: seated at ten ninety eight seeds.
- 23:27Speaker 3: So from last year, it seems like got a nice
- 23:32Speaker 3: win over ranked Maryland, then follow it up with a
- 23:34Speaker 3: little bit of a stinker against No. Iowa who they
- 23:39Speaker 3: lose to who wasn't just like on Sunday. Yeah, I
- 23:43Speaker 3: don't remember someone that should have lost too. I gotta
- 23:53Speaker 3: look it up.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Now, Austin's gonna find it.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Yep.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I just I was following along goo, but I can't
- 23:58Speaker 1: remember who it was either Illinois Illinois.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
- 24:02Speaker 1: They Yeah, good pieces there, you know, hopefully two tournament bursts.
- 24:08Speaker 3: And it was fun.
- 24:09Speaker 1: While we were in Memphis, they both Nebraska men and
- 24:11Speaker 1: women played in the same day and watched the men
- 24:14Speaker 1: and women on TV that night. It'd be fun if
- 24:17Speaker 1: it played out that way again.
- 24:19Speaker 3: As long as we win this time. I don't think
- 24:23Speaker 3: either of us one last time, correct, I don't know
- 24:26Speaker 3: the won advanced. Last year.
- 24:29Speaker 1: We did beat A and M round one.
- 24:31Speaker 3: That's right.
- 24:32Speaker 1: We both played in Texas A and M to start
- 24:35Speaker 1: for the end the year. Moving on here, Husker baseball,
- 24:40Speaker 1: uh season just kicked off. We were rank twenty fourth
- 24:45Speaker 1: in the preseason poll this weekend Friday, beat or lost
- 24:50Speaker 1: to UC Irvine after a slow start, came back beat
- 24:55Speaker 1: vanderbil on Saturday, and from every word that I heard
- 24:58Speaker 1: and sounded like it was, it is a very high intensity,
- 25:01Speaker 1: high energy game. In that game, Tucker Timmerman, a the
- 25:06Speaker 1: actress native, got drilled in the face by a one
- 25:10Speaker 1: hopper back at the mound. If you guys haven't seen
- 25:13Speaker 1: a picture of him or seen it, like, just well
- 25:16Speaker 1: it's it looks it's yeah, but he's smiling like so
- 25:24Speaker 1: we got the win, big gut got win there. Then
- 25:28Speaker 1: beat San Diego State, killed them on Sunday, moves up
- 25:32Speaker 1: one spot in the rankings that were released Monday morning,
- 25:35Speaker 1: and then through a stinker today against Grand Canyon, lost
- 25:38Speaker 1: three to one.
- 25:39Speaker 3: YEP, So I don't Like I said, I don't know
- 25:46Speaker 3: about what to expect.
- 25:48Speaker 5: It kind of feels like people have high expectations for
- 25:51Speaker 5: this team, like it might be a little bit of
- 25:52Speaker 5: a magical year.
- 25:53Speaker 3: But I don't know. Honestly, I don't know if our
- 25:56Speaker 3: offense is going to be consistent.
- 25:58Speaker 5: We have some talent from my ASYU that was good,
- 26:00Speaker 5: and they expect the new guys to do pretty well
- 26:03Speaker 5: this year, and our pitching should be better.
- 26:04Speaker 1: So yeah, it sounds like pitching is maybe the question mark.
- 26:10Speaker 1: We'll obviously get more into baseball softball season here once
- 26:13Speaker 1: basketball season gets over, but yeah, I wanted to call
- 26:18Speaker 1: out the first weekend.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Success to one hundred start.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Speaking of baseball too, also wanted to take time to
- 26:29Speaker 1: call out and give tribute to Greg Sharp, who longtime
- 26:34Speaker 1: Husker football and baseball as it is probably primary sport,
- 26:38Speaker 1: but didn't love football games di did a little bit
- 26:41Speaker 1: of basketball here and there, who just passed on Saturday.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I think you know all the comments and commentary other
- 26:50Speaker 1: podcasts I've listened to you you just hear how good
- 26:54Speaker 1: of a guy he was and cared about the people
- 26:58Speaker 1: that he was were looking for and talking about over himself,
- 27:03Speaker 1: very selfless person. It was fun to listen to. I
- 27:08Speaker 1: mean there's several several times that you know, it was
- 27:10Speaker 1: weird this year. The one time when he wasn't on
- 27:13Speaker 1: the radio and I was listening to it while I
- 27:15Speaker 1: was driving, I'm like, this isn't just isn't the same.
- 27:17Speaker 1: That's who I grew up on listening in all the
- 27:19Speaker 1: football games. I mean, this will be the first big
- 27:22Speaker 1: change for really any of us as far as Husker
- 27:25Speaker 1: voice or correct, you know, so it will be weird. Yeah,
- 27:33Speaker 1: he did a really good job.
- 27:35Speaker 5: You know, hopefully his family's okay. I mean it was
- 27:40Speaker 5: at least one of those things where it wasn't like
- 27:41Speaker 5: a shocking you know, like it's been a long battle,
- 27:46Speaker 5: so it.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Had you know, I think it started a little over
- 27:49Speaker 1: a year ago, pancreatic cancer, and there were a lot
- 27:51Speaker 1: of tributes, you know that. I think the Big Ten
- 27:53Speaker 1: Tournament was a pretty neat thing. Baseball last year, pretty
- 27:57Speaker 1: neat storyline, and how they gave trivia to him there
- 28:01Speaker 1: one of you know, one of the big things was
- 28:02Speaker 1: he wanted to make it to his daughter's wedding, which
- 28:05Speaker 1: unfortunately is this upcoming weekend, so he fell a week
- 28:08Speaker 1: short of that. But we'll be there in good spirits, Dak.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I mean you obviously just becoming a Husker fan. You
- 28:16Speaker 1: probably didn't listen to any games in the radio, but
- 28:19Speaker 1: just growing growing up, he like Austin said, it's gonna
- 28:24Speaker 1: be different to change. Like I whether you knew the
- 28:26Speaker 1: guy what he looked like when I was young, I didn't.
- 28:28Speaker 1: I just knew what. You knew his voice, Like you
- 28:30Speaker 1: knew what he sounded like on everything, not just in
- 28:33Speaker 1: game broadcasting, but all the talk shows and things that
- 28:36Speaker 1: he hosted throughout the week.
- 28:39Speaker 4: That was that was gonna say every time turning a
- 28:42Speaker 4: Husk game on the radio, he'd beat the one voice
- 28:44Speaker 4: there when we know that was gonna be there, Like
- 28:48Speaker 4: everybody can recognize him, yep.
- 28:52Speaker 1: And I like on the way home from Husker games
- 28:54Speaker 1: as a kid, like just listen to the postgame stuff.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I mean, he was always the one leading that charge
- 29:00Speaker 1: on the interviews and stuff like that, and and impressively too,
- 29:03Speaker 1: Like think about how he ended, how he continued to
- 29:06Speaker 1: do all of that work. I think he did as
- 29:09Speaker 1: much as he could. I think he did all but
- 29:10Speaker 1: three games this fall. Yeah, and for the state that
- 29:14Speaker 1: he was in, like that, that's that that's such a
- 29:17Speaker 1: great example to how you should live life like for
- 29:19Speaker 1: other people and not for yourself.
- 29:26Speaker 3: And it was one of those cool things like, you know,
- 29:28Speaker 3: if you think about his family, like they will always
- 29:31Speaker 3: have his voice, like everyone knows their you know, husband
- 29:34Speaker 3: and dad's uncle, brothers voice, like everyone in Nebraska knows
- 29:40Speaker 3: a great sharp sounds like, and they will remember it
- 29:42Speaker 3: and it'll be around for like all those highlights. Yeah,
- 29:45Speaker 3: so that's cool.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Uh, last thing here today, the Big Ten and SEC
- 29:53Speaker 1: I think had their second meeting. It sounds like on
- 29:59Speaker 1: college ball and expansion and playoff talk and whatever that
- 30:05Speaker 1: looks like. And we don't know what that's gonna lead to.
- 30:09Speaker 1: We don't know what's gonna happen. It sounds like the
- 30:11Speaker 1: college football playoff is still going to continue to be
- 30:15Speaker 1: in its current state for at least one more year.
- 30:18Speaker 1: But after that, I mean, who knows. And this leads
- 30:21Speaker 1: to the conversation of power. Leaves are the conversation of
- 30:24Speaker 1: money and where that sits and who's making the decisions.
- 30:29Speaker 1: And I think there's a billion ways this thing could
- 30:33Speaker 1: play out. One common theory or potential structure is that
- 30:41Speaker 1: because the Big Ten and SEC owns all of the
- 30:43Speaker 1: media and TV rights, and that's where a lot of
- 30:47Speaker 1: the money is. And if you want to talk about
- 30:48Speaker 1: who actually is in charge of a lot of this stuff,
- 30:50Speaker 1: it's probably those two commissioners and these people that are
- 30:53Speaker 1: meeting at this whatever you want to call it, between
- 30:57Speaker 1: the SEC and Big Ten, and they have power to
- 31:00Speaker 1: make threats and say, if you don't meet these demands,
- 31:04Speaker 1: we will do our own thing and form our own league,
- 31:07Speaker 1: form our own postseason, basically completely changing the way we
- 31:13Speaker 1: think of college sports as has existed for the past
- 31:16Speaker 1: couple hundred years. Here's my question with all of that,
- 31:23Speaker 1: what do you think of would if you could change
- 31:27Speaker 1: it tomorrow, would you move to too sixteen team leagues
- 31:34Speaker 1: or else even go twenty team leagues the SEC and
- 31:37Speaker 1: the Big twelve or the Big Ten, obviously Nebraska being
- 31:41Speaker 1: a part of that. And it's basically like the NFL
- 31:45Speaker 1: or the NBA or whatever professionally do you want to
- 31:47Speaker 1: call it. Where you know, you got your divisions, you
- 31:50Speaker 1: have your non conference, your conference games, your two sides,
- 31:54Speaker 1: your your probably playoff bracket, which looks like something like
- 31:58Speaker 1: the NBA or NFL, doesn't the a s C, NFC
- 32:01Speaker 1: West and East. If you could have a button that says, Yep,
- 32:05Speaker 1: we're doing this next year, would you do that or not?
- 32:10Speaker 1: And then second part of that, do you think that's coming?
- 32:14Speaker 3: Mmm, I don't know something's coming.
- 32:24Speaker 2: I just.
- 32:26Speaker 1: So first or you would you would you change?
- 32:28Speaker 3: Would you?
- 32:29Speaker 2: Would you do that? Like? What do you like that?
- 32:32Speaker 1: Do you like the idea?
- 32:33Speaker 2: Do you think?
- 32:33Speaker 3: Like?
- 32:33Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 32:37Speaker 3: I'm struggling with?
- 32:39Speaker 5: I like regional games. I don't like We've talked about
- 32:43Speaker 5: this on the pod. I don't care when we play USC.
- 32:45Speaker 5: I don't care when we play U.
- 32:46Speaker 2: C l A.
- 32:47Speaker 5: Like it's fine once in a while. But I want
- 32:49Speaker 5: to play Colorado. I want to play Iowa. I want
- 32:51Speaker 5: to play Wisconsin. I want to play in Minnesota. Like
- 32:54Speaker 5: those are the teams I want to play. And if
- 32:56Speaker 5: you do that, I think it becomes less likely you
- 32:58Speaker 5: play those games, especially like I mean, you know, Oklahoma
- 33:04Speaker 5: and Texas I guess are in the SEC now, but.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Dak I don't know.
- 33:13Speaker 4: I if, like you said, if it changes to where
- 33:21Speaker 4: people play, like where the region teams in there like
- 33:25Speaker 4: area of the country, yes, like like your divisions, I
- 33:32Speaker 4: guess if it lines people up more close together than
- 33:34Speaker 4: when they.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Where you're.
- 33:37Speaker 2: At at in the country. That's that's what I think.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Is like, Yeah, Nebraska plays Colorado Kansas? Well, I guess
- 33:45Speaker 2: you don't. Are you saying all the big tall schools
- 33:48Speaker 2: come in too?
- 33:49Speaker 1: Then here here's what I'm saying. I'm not saying anything's
- 33:53Speaker 1: gonna happen. I'm just saying that the Big ten SEC
- 33:56Speaker 1: hold a lot of power.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Oh yeah, all of it.
- 34:00Speaker 1: So what I what I You can have your desire
- 34:03Speaker 1: and what you want, what you like. I What I'm
- 34:06Speaker 1: asking though, is would you take the current Big ten
- 34:10Speaker 1: and SEC and maybe add too. I'm not gonna say
- 34:14Speaker 1: fifteen teams to each, but you know, maybe five to
- 34:17Speaker 1: ten teams five five teams each and just split off.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Would you do that? And where I'm not I don't
- 34:25Speaker 1: know where you cut it off. I don't know if
- 34:26Speaker 1: Colorado makes that cut. Maybe they do, maybe they don't.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I don't know if Kansas, I don't know case. I
- 34:30Speaker 1: don't know who makes that cut. But would you would
- 34:33Speaker 1: you would you vote for that? And I will say
- 34:35Speaker 1: there's probably more regional opportunities there. It's not going to
- 34:38Speaker 1: be We're not gonna play all those teams that you
- 34:40Speaker 1: probably mentioned I don't know where the line gets drawn,
- 34:43Speaker 1: but would you before that, I guess immediately or in
- 34:48Speaker 1: the future, like what, Like I have my thoughts, like
- 34:52Speaker 1: I I want to hear what you guys say before
- 34:54Speaker 1: I go into it.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Though, Yeah, I guess I'm fine with it. Like that's
- 34:58Speaker 3: where it's going. I that is where it's going.
- 35:01Speaker 5: It's going to be the big powers doing their own thing,
- 35:06Speaker 5: having their own championship, having their own TV deals.
- 35:10Speaker 3: I mean that that's kind of what it already is.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Like.
- 35:13Speaker 5: Obviously teams have the ability to play in but it's
- 35:17Speaker 5: always going to be the big brands that are competing
- 35:19Speaker 5: for national titles. Well, when was the last time there
- 35:22Speaker 5: was a national title that you're like, Wow, that one
- 35:24Speaker 5: really snuck up out of nowhere.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Florida State maybe, but even then, that's a big name.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Like so it is.
- 35:30Speaker 1: It's fascinating a team like Florida State Clemson, what happens
- 35:34Speaker 1: where they go?
- 35:35Speaker 3: What you know?
- 35:36Speaker 1: Right now, they're not a part of the SEC or
- 35:38Speaker 1: Big ten. If things continue to go this way, and
- 35:41Speaker 1: I my strong opinion is that it is going to
- 35:44Speaker 1: move faster than we think.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Yep.
- 35:46Speaker 1: I think within the next three to five years we
- 35:48Speaker 1: are going to see this thing happen because I don't
- 35:50Speaker 1: think the NCAA has got much left. I think the
- 35:52Speaker 1: big ten in SEC right now are financial powerhouses and
- 35:56Speaker 1: have all the power and they will drive the conversation.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Do you do you really think those people care about
- 36:03Speaker 1: college football tradition and the past, his his? They maybe
- 36:08Speaker 1: do a little bit, but they are in it for
- 36:11Speaker 1: the revenue and that's what's driving them. So Nebraska, we're
- 36:17Speaker 1: likely in one of those things. Here's a scary thing
- 36:20Speaker 1: when it comes to like actual success with it all.
- 36:24Speaker 1: You start that thing next year like we're we're the
- 36:29Speaker 1: We're the Washington Wizards kind of like maybe not quite
- 36:33Speaker 1: that bad, but you know, you know what I'm saying,
- 36:36Speaker 1: We're we're not in a good position for a starting
- 36:39Speaker 1: off a new league type of thing. I would guess
- 36:43Speaker 1: there'd be opportunities within the league then, not saying there's
- 36:46Speaker 1: gonna be trades and in that extent right away, but
- 36:51Speaker 1: I'm not gonna put it against that could happen or
- 36:54Speaker 1: it's gonna it's gonna be so professionalized down the road
- 36:58Speaker 1: it's coming. Uh And would I do it?
- 37:01Speaker 3: You know what?
- 37:02Speaker 1: I would say no now because I don't think Nebraska
- 37:04Speaker 1: is in a position to compete right now at that
- 37:07Speaker 1: stage for twelve games or however many games you want
- 37:10Speaker 1: to play throughout the year. We need our cupcakes to
- 37:15Speaker 1: get some wins, like we do. Let's just be real,
- 37:18Speaker 1: versus playing Texas every other year and and whoever else
- 37:24Speaker 1: gets on that schedule. I don't think we want to
- 37:28Speaker 1: do that right now, but I think it's gonna come
- 37:29Speaker 1: sooner than we want. And that's why it's so key
- 37:32Speaker 1: now that we figure it out and turn this program.
- 37:39Speaker 3: The bottom of that league.
- 37:40Speaker 5: Though somebody does, that's gonna shake out, just like every
- 37:44Speaker 5: year in the NFL, there's you have your Jaguars floating
- 37:48Speaker 5: down there.
- 37:49Speaker 3: You got your Wizards who just can't get out.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Nebraska's got the brand to do it. We have the
- 37:57Speaker 1: financial resources right now to do it.
- 37:59Speaker 3: To be we're the freaking Cowboys were in the nineties.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Oh we are, right, that's what we are. So that's
- 38:08Speaker 1: what's hard is like. But but but again the Cowboys
- 38:11Speaker 1: are I guess this year the different story. But they've
- 38:13Speaker 1: been in the playoffs kind of like every you know.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Frea losing the first round the championship game.
- 38:20Speaker 1: We're not, but that's still that's still you know, top
- 38:22Speaker 1: half of the NFL right around the half we're not
- 38:25Speaker 1: We're not there. I don't think not yet. We could
- 38:29Speaker 1: be programs probably, Yeah, So that that it makes for
- 38:35Speaker 1: interesting conversation. I I just think it's coming quicker and
- 38:39Speaker 1: we think I think these meetings are very telling that
- 38:42Speaker 1: the conversations are happening and when people don't want to
- 38:45Speaker 1: assume that, oh my gosh, they're quote unquote ruining college
- 38:49Speaker 1: football at it's just gonna keep changing like it is.
- 38:54Speaker 1: It's gonna go where the money. It's gonna go where
- 38:56Speaker 1: the money is. I just don't know where you draw
- 38:58Speaker 1: the line. I just I think that's that's that's probably
- 39:02Speaker 1: one of those things that people are gonna be really
- 39:04Speaker 1: pissed about. But it's like, okay, but you're not a
- 39:06Speaker 1: part of the Big Ten and SEC. So like someone
- 39:08Speaker 1: like Arizona State who had a great year, you're probably
- 39:12Speaker 1: gonna get left out. And then these other schools are
- 39:14Speaker 1: gonna they're gonna have their own stuff. They're gonna have
- 39:17Speaker 1: their own league, their own division, their own eventual something.
- 39:20Speaker 1: But it's gonna start by the SEC in Big Ten
- 39:23Speaker 1: taking as they kind of already are taking control and
- 39:25Speaker 1: command over college football, like that's where it's gonna start,
- 39:31Speaker 1: and then it'll trickle down to other sports and go
- 39:32Speaker 1: from there. And this is all in conjunction with the
- 39:36Speaker 1: NCAA being in all sorts of or not being in
- 39:42Speaker 1: all sorts of involvement with a lot of this stuff
- 39:46Speaker 1: wherever they sit on it. So that that I thought
- 39:51Speaker 1: that was interesting, like they met again like that. But
- 39:54Speaker 1: that led to me thinking, all, right, here we go.
- 39:57Speaker 3: We're moving somewhere.
- 39:58Speaker 1: I don't know where it is, but it's it's one there.
- 40:01Speaker 2: There is no more n c a A.
- 40:03Speaker 4: It is the big ten sec running at all, like
- 40:07Speaker 4: all these other schools like said Clemson, Florida State. And
- 40:09Speaker 4: how then there's got to fall along like there's all
- 40:12Speaker 4: these big toad schools.
- 40:13Speaker 2: There's the eyn't have to fall along or.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Well follow or make an act. They got to make
- 40:19Speaker 1: some move before it's too late. Like that's the scary part.
- 40:23Speaker 1: You know, you would like to think that whatever this
- 40:25Speaker 1: new structure, new thing that these guys are talking about,
- 40:27Speaker 1: they're not forgetting about some of these more you know, Miami's,
- 40:31Speaker 1: Florida State's Clemsons of the world. But again, where do
- 40:36Speaker 1: you draw the care? Where do they care? And where
- 40:40Speaker 1: do you draw the line? What do you do with Colorado?
- 40:42Speaker 1: You'm thinking more locally Colorado? Okay, state of Big twelve schools,
- 40:46Speaker 1: Like I don't know, I don't know the answer to that.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Where are you cutting it off at? And if if
- 40:51Speaker 1: they don't care, then some teams like that are just
- 40:53Speaker 1: going to be left out to start their next own
- 40:56Speaker 1: thing and it'll be the you know, the next subdivision
- 41:01Speaker 1: of whatever you want to create, a financial.
- 41:04Speaker 4: Division, which which lets me real, the NCAA has been
- 41:07Speaker 4: dead for how long, Like it hasn't been around. It's
- 41:10Speaker 4: the names there, but they haven't governed tall sports in years.
- 41:14Speaker 3: I mean they're still in charge of the you know,
- 41:17Speaker 3: March madness.
- 41:19Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, but like rules wise, like they they say
- 41:21Speaker 4: they they say they have these rules, but it's just
- 41:25Speaker 4: a free free land right now.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Like you're in their quote unquote in charge by paper
- 41:29Speaker 1: by the paper. But yeah, yeah, get what you're saying
- 41:32Speaker 1: is officially like what they have actually controlled not much.
- 41:36Speaker 2: It's it's been the big ten SEC for quite.
- 41:40Speaker 1: A while, and now they're joining forces.
- 41:45Speaker 2: M what would make for a lot of fun football
- 41:51Speaker 2: teams though.
- 41:52Speaker 1: There would be a lot, But I think you have
- 41:55Speaker 1: to do it in a way though that it's so
- 41:58Speaker 1: strategic because I think I think they saw what happened
- 42:01Speaker 1: with the Collegeurable Playoff this year when they played the games,
- 42:04Speaker 1: and we're trying to compete with some of these NFL games.
- 42:08Speaker 1: I mean people like us who enjoy both sports. Some
- 42:10Speaker 1: people are die hard NFL or die hard college double
- 42:13Speaker 1: like get that, but people that like, like I heard
- 42:16Speaker 1: someone say this, who would you rather watch Penn State
- 42:18Speaker 1: SMU or Mahomes versus C J. Stroud, Like I'm probably
- 42:24Speaker 1: turning on Mahome C.
- 42:25Speaker 3: I remember I was talking on this being like, oh yeah,
- 42:27Speaker 3: I totally forgot that College.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Football Championship is this week because I was watching Round
- 42:31Speaker 5: two of the NFL.
- 42:34Speaker 3: YEP.
- 42:34Speaker 1: So you have to strategically find a way to you know,
- 42:39Speaker 1: and promote it and keep it, keep it fresh and
- 42:41Speaker 1: people love it, loving it. I think, you know, people
- 42:43Speaker 1: are gonna love their teams all the way. I don't
- 42:44Speaker 1: think that's gonna change. But as far as competing, you know,
- 42:48Speaker 1: people that are watching the other games outside of their team,
- 42:50Speaker 1: how are you gonna compete with? And and you know what,
- 42:53Speaker 1: I guess as I'm saying this out loud. What's gonna
- 42:58Speaker 1: come with this new SEC Big ten merger. Eventually you'll
- 43:02Speaker 1: get fantasy football, just like the NFL has it. That's
- 43:05Speaker 1: what keeps me locked into the NFL. A lot is
- 43:07Speaker 1: fantasy football, Like you're gonna get that. It's gonna be
- 43:10Speaker 1: as built out and everything that the current NFL is like,
- 43:16Speaker 1: that'll come with it. I'm sure eventually it's gonna take
- 43:19Speaker 1: a little time to get there, but.
- 43:22Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 43:23Speaker 1: It's exciting. It's fun to talk about, fun to think about,
- 43:25Speaker 1: fun to try to predict the future.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Kind of fun. It's also kind of a bummer. Yeah,
- 43:35Speaker 3: all right, that's it.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Five games left for the Skurts basketball when two of
- 43:41Speaker 1: them March's coming quick, I'll o you Dak give us
- 43:45Speaker 1: oro ou where are they sitting?
- 43:48Speaker 3: Not good?
- 43:50Speaker 4: They have kind of fallen off the map a little
- 43:51Speaker 4: bit here. I mean they've played they played five ft
- 43:55Speaker 4: ranked opponents.
- 43:57Speaker 2: And then they just fallen matter that.
- 44:00Speaker 4: So poor Moser is out book that really Yep, they're
- 44:06Speaker 4: still probably making tournament, but I still think he gets fired.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Oh they, I mean I guess they They are currently
- 44:14Speaker 1: as a tennesse seed as well. In bracket matrix in
- 44:17Speaker 1: ninety five ninety seven.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Bracket No, No, they're still gonna make tournament. But I
- 44:21Speaker 2: I think he gets fired, like the same thing.
- 44:24Speaker 1: You think Oklahoma is that high of expectations of a
- 44:27Speaker 1: powerhouse in basketball that this is unacceptable.
- 44:29Speaker 3: They had you that one time.
- 44:31Speaker 4: I think, yeah, that team only got a ninety. But
- 44:35Speaker 4: it's been the same thing every year with them. They
- 44:36Speaker 4: just they die out in commerce play every year every time.
- 44:39Speaker 1: So and nebra King you can have him, you think,
- 44:45Speaker 1: do you think he's stale? You think he's staled up?
- 44:48Speaker 2: I think he's done.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Hasn't he been there for like two or three years.
- 44:52Speaker 2: I think it's his fourth year, fourth or fifth year,
- 44:57Speaker 2: He's he's been there for quite a while. That might
- 44:59Speaker 2: be right. Twenty twentym I got hired there. I don't know.
- 45:07Speaker 1: This is your team.
- 45:08Speaker 2: I'm tired of them.
- 45:09Speaker 4: It's it's the same thing every conference played, just fizzle out,
- 45:13Speaker 4: start the year hot. Last year they were twelve and ot.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Same Xach story, except for last year they didn't. They
- 45:19Speaker 4: didn't make tournament.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Fun fact, where did Porter Moser go to college?
- 45:23Speaker 3: At Texas.
- 45:29Speaker 2: Nebraska?
- 45:30Speaker 1: Creton crazy?
- 45:33Speaker 6: No idea?
- 45:35Speaker 3: Here you go Dak.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Oklahoma's records nineteen sixteen, fifteen, seventeen, twenty and twelve, fifteen
- 45:41Speaker 1: and five this year.
- 45:46Speaker 6: No, they're they're fifteen and five this year. I don't
- 45:50Speaker 6: know that's what Wikipedia say. Definitely there sixteen and nine.
- 45:54Speaker 6: I was gonna say, so that's not updated. They I
- 45:57Speaker 6: could say there's twenty.
- 46:00Speaker 4: No, they're sixteen to nine and they play number two
- 46:03Speaker 4: tomorrow I think at Florida, so that'll be fun. But yeah,
- 46:08Speaker 4: when you play, when you play Bama, Auburn Florida.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Basketball.
- 46:13Speaker 5: We should have done that game. See how many top
- 46:16Speaker 5: ten basketball teams? Stack could list of currently ranked basketball teams.
- 46:22Speaker 4: Auburn, Alabama, Houston. Why that's I got into I really
- 46:33Speaker 4: have not got into college basketball much this year, and
- 46:35Speaker 4: I want to.
- 46:35Speaker 1: But you just said one.
- 46:38Speaker 3: What teams Oklahoma playing of Florida.
- 46:44Speaker 1: You did pretty good though, I mean there's there's yep.
- 46:49Speaker 1: He said you got top six. I mean A and
- 46:51Speaker 1: Texas A and M seven, Iowa State eight, Saint John's
- 46:53Speaker 1: nine in Texas Tech ten.
- 46:55Speaker 2: I had no clue Saint John's was that good? Oh yeah,
- 46:58Speaker 2: Rick Patina, you know, doing his job.
- 47:03Speaker 3: He's a good coach. Sure he got caught with prost,
- 47:07Speaker 3: not prost.
- 47:08Speaker 2: I'm not a very good person. Hell of a coach
- 47:11Speaker 2: though it looks like a vampire two.
- 47:17Speaker 1: All right, we'll be back. Go be grad at Penn
- 47:20Speaker 1: State Wednesday and get her done tv R.
- 47:23Speaker 2: Go Bi grad. H
