Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: I feel like I say this at least once a month or more on this podcast.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Being a financial advisor is hard, running your own business is super hard, and having tools in your toolkit is your ticket to not just keeping up but truly thriving in this fast-paced and many hats environment.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's critical.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I have put together a list of resources for you that will help you do all the things better, faster, smarter, cheaper or easier.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Part of my ambition for the efficient advisor is to be a hub of vetted resources, a place where advisors can come to look for tools and resources that are industry specific, tried and tested and well respected, and then I can help you advance whatever it is that you're trying to do in your business and I've shared how I feel about sharing the thing right.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I want to give you the tools, the templates, the resources, the things, so that you're not staring at that blank piece of paper.
- 0:59Speaker 1: The website if you know it or not, it's full of free and then some small paid resources that I found for you, and I'm going to share with you a little bit today about what's out there and where to find them, but there are so many that I'm going to have to break this down into a couple of different episodes, so be on the lookout for a resources part two coming in a few weeks, but get ready to dive into a world of tools, templates and resources that will elevate your practice and empower you to navigate this crazy industry with a little less overwhelm and a little more ease.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Look, I know you're here because you know it is possible to have an abundance of energy left over at the end of the week for your family and still have your dream business.
- 1:55Speaker 1: You know what I'm talking about the business that you are running instead of it running you.
- 2:00Speaker 1: If you're new to the efficient advisor, welcome.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm Libby Gray we.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I started from scratch, built and sold by age 37, a 100% referral only planning practice that I grew to seven figures as a solo advisor, all while working just three days a week and taking off 14 weeks a year so that I could really be a super present wife and a super present mom that wasn't tied to her phone all week and long putting out fires at soccer games.
- 2:27Speaker 1: You know what I'm talking about and I'm really just here to walk alongside you and to show you how to do exactly the same thing to help you take immediate action on the most important strategies for scaling, organizing and creating less stress and overwhelm in your business and helping you build a business that truly wraps around the lifestyle that it is that you are trying to create for you and your family.
- 2:50Speaker 1: We are about to transform your practice, so move over exhaustion and get out of the way.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Advisor ADD.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It is time to take that one right next step to build a business and a life that you love.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So let's dive in to resources.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So, as I mentioned in the intro, one of the things that I envisioned for the efficient advisor was to consolidate resources, tools, templates, things for you.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Now, while we're doing that inside of our coaching program and we've got just boatloads of templates and tools and examples and samples and all the things there are a ton of resources that are available to anyone and everyone.
- 3:30Speaker 1: You don't have to be part of the coaching program.
- 3:33Speaker 1: All you have to do is have the internet.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Okay, so at Google search bar, you have got access to so many free tools and resources and some paid ones that are totally vetted and just amazing, amazing things for advisors.
- 3:47Speaker 1: So let's just dive in.
- 3:48Speaker 1: So there's really kind of three resource hubs for you through the efficient advisor.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Right now.
- 3:53Speaker 1: There is the resource library, which is a ever evolving and now kind of ever growing hub of external resources that I've started to gather and vet for you guys.
- 4:06Speaker 1: There is the video and templates tab, which everything out there is totally free.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And there is a third resource for you guys, the efficient advisor community out on Facebook.
- 4:17Speaker 1: There are actually some free templates, tools, resources available to you out there as well.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So there's a high volume of tools and templates.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So today I'm just going to pick maybe I don't know like 10 and walk you through a couple examples of what's out there to make sure you know what you can get your hands on.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I know there's just I mean, let's be honest, the internet is like a super overwhelming place.
- 4:40Speaker 1: There's so many places you can go and even the efficient advisor website.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's still kind of a combination of the old website and the new website.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So I just wanted to share with you what's out there and give you kind of a flavor for what is available.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So maybe, if that kind of makes sense to you, you might go out there and want to check out those templates and then peruse some of the other options for you.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So let's talk first about the resource library.
- 5:07Speaker 1: So it is all external resources that I have started to source for you guys.
- 5:13Speaker 1: So this, the vision here is to include things like vetted payroll services.
- 5:18Speaker 1: By the way, I love, gusto, use them for years, so it's paid resources that I have personally used or vetted or have had tons and tons of advisors use and say, oh my gosh, this was great, this changed the way that I did something.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And I have to know, like and trust the person who has created the resource for you guys.
- 5:39Speaker 1: So it's not just like any and everybody who's like hey, I have this cool thing.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Oh, and there's an affiliate relationship and I'll just like put it out there.
- 5:48Speaker 1: If it's not amazing, I'm not putting it out there for you guys.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So the resources tab is constantly changing, constantly growing.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I have three or four more things right now that I'm continuing to work through and vet for you guys.
- 6:02Speaker 1: That will be added, hopefully by the end of this month.
- 6:05Speaker 1: So the first thing I wanted to highlight out there for you guys is legacy letter.
- 6:09Speaker 1: If you don't know what legacy letter is, oh my gosh, it is so, so good.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Go back to episode number 106, and I will link it in the show notes here for you guys, but this is the feedback on this has just been awesome.
- 6:22Speaker 1: So we've had a lot of advisors since the show aired back in gosh I mean, it was January, I think, of this year, it was early, early, early 2023.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And we've had a bunch of advisors do the legacy letter program and actually execute it with their clients, and a feedback that you guys have been sending me is unreal and this is one of those value ads that is just so unique and so different and so easy to execute.
- 6:51Speaker 1: When we're talking about adding value to our clients, we're always looking at so what's kind of happening during a meeting, what's happening in between your meetings, what does your client service model look like?
- 7:01Speaker 1: And we're always looking for things that you can do to really enhance the client experience that don't require a lot of difficulty.
- 7:08Speaker 1: So in our coaching we always are even on the podcast we talk about measuring.
- 7:12Speaker 1: What is the difficulty to impact scale?
- 7:15Speaker 1: Cause there's a lot of things that we can do as advisors that are super easy but don't have a lot of impact.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So perfect example is birthday cards.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Right, it's not hard to have our team send out birthday cards to our clients, but it's not also really crazy impactful.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Our clients aren't gonna get these birthday cards and feel like their life has been changed or their goals are closer to being met and that they are on a better trajectory for their financial future or their legacy or whatever.
- 7:42Speaker 1: So while they're really nice to do, they're low difficulty but also low impact.
- 7:47Speaker 1: There's also things that we can do that are really really high difficulty and also have a really high impact.
- 7:52Speaker 1: So those are things that are highly, highly customized and there's like tons of episodes on value ads.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But what legacy letter is is to me it's like a medium difficulty, super high impact.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I know after the episode aired I got flooded with emails and direct messages of people saying I can't believe.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I cried listening to a business podcast, right, and I have heard Blake's story more than once and I tear up every single time.
- 8:22Speaker 1: And what legacy letter is?
- 8:25Speaker 1: I mean, I can't do it justice in like a two minute description, but Blake lost his father at a young age in a pretty traumatic way and his dad had left him this letter for him to read and this letter had a lot of impact on Blake's life and he met some other men through just kind of the course of life that had also received a letter from their dad, and he thought, you know, gosh, this was such an impactful thing for me how do I help other men write letters to their children that could have as big of an impact on them as this had on me.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And he then expanded that into moms and kind of has this mission to help a million parents write these crazy, amazing, life-changing letters to their children that, whether they're alive or whether they've passed away, that they can leave to their children as a legacy.
- 9:15Speaker 1: And this fits into, you know we talk about theme planning and all of these other things.
- 9:18Speaker 1: This fits into this idea of estate planning and you know, when we're having conversations with our clients about transferring money from their parents to them or them to the next generation, and we want to look at estate planning through lots of different lenses, something like legacy letter could be just an amazing value add in an estate planning year and, frankly, for what it costs, it's super cheap to execute overall, like depending on the size of your book and who you'd want to do it with and how you'd want to execute it.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And in the episode I kind of give my best practice of like, hey, if it were me and I were running a practice, here is how I would do the legacy letter program with my clients, and the clients that have gone through it have reported back to their advisors who've then, you know, come back to me and said this was one of the things that we did with our clients and one of the things our clients reported that was the most relationship building thing that we've ever done, more so than a client appreciation event, more so than the white glove referral events that we teach, more than you know any sort of client experience.
- 10:31Speaker 1: The legacy letter has been one of the things that continues to kind of come up for us as something that advisors have done that have just like blown their clients away.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And you know, I mentioned estate planning, doesn't have to fall within a theme.
- 10:46Speaker 1: This could just be a really, really cool client event for your clients, for you to do with your team.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Anytime we're looking for relationship building, bonding, deepening those ties, connecting with our clients on a human to human level, connecting with our team on a human to human level the legacy letter program is just a perfect fit.
- 11:10Speaker 1: The caveat here is that it's a program written for mostly for parents.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Now you could extrapolate this and this letter could go to siblings, it could go to other loved ones you know aunts, uncles, parents.
- 11:22Speaker 1: It can go other directions, but I would just kind of caution that most of the content does surround this idea of parent to child.
- 11:31Speaker 1: So that's the only you know kind of thing I would wanna make sure that you knew going into it.
- 11:36Speaker 1: But of course you can get on the resources tab on my website.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Click on the legacy letter link.
- 11:42Speaker 1: There is special pricing for efficient advisor listeners, which, yay.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Anytime that I can get you guys a deal or a discount, I am here for it.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I love saving money.
- 11:51Speaker 1: It's my German Lutheran upbringing.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I can't help it.
- 11:53Speaker 1: So that's one of those resources that should you use.
- 11:56Speaker 1: It is it is gonna cost you money, but anytime you're doing a client event and sending out birthday cards or anything you do for your clients to typically cost some, you know, some cash, some resources, client events all of those things do cost money, but this, in my opinion, money totally well spent.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Okay, so the second resource from that resource tab, the last resource I want to share from you with you there, from there today, is the new I haven't talked about this with you guys yet, but it's the new Retirement Tech Services.
- 12:28Speaker 1: 8606 Roth Conversion Guide.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Okay, so in my own practice I know we did tons and tons of Roth conversions and tons and tons of backdoor Roths and we would walk the clients through it and walk them through the rationale and here's how it works and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah and for a long time we just gave our clients all of the forms.
- 12:51Speaker 1: They got their tax documents and we just let them take those tax documents and right off into the sunset and go plug it in online themselves if they're using their own tax platform, or just take it to their CPA.
- 13:06Speaker 1: And I can't tell you guys how many times later on, when we started collecting tax returns and actually looking at this, how many times that got boned up.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Like so many times, even when we had clients who had CPAs doing their return, I was floored at how many times this was all messed up.
- 13:30Speaker 1: And it's so interesting to me because we work so hard, right as advisors, to like create these amazing plans and deliver this really cool advice and run all these tools and all these calculators and we do the work for our clients and then we don't have a great process to go back and check and make sure that it was actually executed correctly, because if it's not happening correctly on their 1040, it's not happening and all of our genius planning is completely for naught.
- 13:59Speaker 1: So what Steven Jarvis and Retirement Tax Services have done is create this super cool 8606 guide, and so Steven shared with me.
- 14:11Speaker 1: He's like I mean seriously, every year we help so many taxpayers correct backdoor Roth contributions that got screwed up the first time around, that maybe got screwed up the first and second time around.
- 14:21Speaker 1: So they created this checklist to help ensure that your client really isn't the next person that needs to go through that correction process.
- 14:30Speaker 1: So the worksheet it's three pages and it starts with.
- 14:34Speaker 1: It's a PDF and it starts with the five questions that you need to ask on every single backdoor Roth contribution and it's just got a lot of details.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So, especially if you're a newer advisor and you're just really starting to implement this strategy with your clients, the cool part I thought was it does a step-by-step guide in here too, to reporting a basic backdoor Roth contribution on the federal tax return, and it literally goes through the 1040 line by line and shows you okay, this is where this is, here's where you should see this, here's where you know if it's done correctly, if it shows up here it's not done correctly and it's two pages of the 8606 just kind of going through through line by line and showing you where mistakes typically occur.
- 15:21Speaker 1: So I could see this not only for you as an advisor, from your own educational standpoint, but what a great tool to give your team.
- 15:30Speaker 1: You know it's $43, it's well, it's $86, but efficient advisor listeners have a 50% discount to make it 43 bucks and you could give this worksheet to your team and it basically shows them hey, here's how you go through a backdoor Roth contribution.
- 15:47Speaker 1: So if you are outsourcing or delegating the tax return review and if you're not collecting tax returns, you totally should.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I did an episode with Steven.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I'll have to look up the number, I'll pop it in the show notes.
- 16:00Speaker 1: But I did an episode with Steven on you know, okay, I collect a client's tax return.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Now what do I do with it?
- 16:07Speaker 1: So there's a whole episode on that as well.
- 16:09Speaker 1: But if you're collecting the returns, you can have your team do any data entry.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So like if you're using what if tax or whole list of plan, you can have them plug the return in and do some of this tax analysis you can also then outsource to your team.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Hey, every time we recommend a backdoor Roth, let's make sure, from a follow-up standpoint, that earlier in the year we're going to reach out to the clients.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Hey say, hey, make sure this gets done correctly.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Maybe even float your 1040 bias before you file, or if you're collecting returns after the fact, going in and just making sure that their backdoor Roth was actually executed properly is a really great value add.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Like I said, I mean you do all this amazing planning, you come up with all of these genius ideas, your team does all the freaking paperwork and then your clients aren't actually getting the benefit of doing the backdoor Roth.
- 17:00Speaker 1: It's not going to make that huge impact on their retirement like you had hoped If it's not getting reported correctly and they're not getting that the tax piece of it done right.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So if they're losing money to taxes by doing it incorrectly or it's not ending up in the right place, it's a complete wash and a huge waste of your time.
- 17:19Speaker 1: So check out the RTS IRS Forum 8606 guide to getting it right and, like I said, I think you could implement this in a couple of different ways inside of your business.
- 17:32Speaker 1: All right, so let's move on to free stuff.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I love free stuff.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Have you ever heard the saying if it's free, it's for me?
- 17:39Speaker 1: That's not like entirely true, but man, I do love a good freebie, especially if it's going to help me do something better, faster, smarter, cheaper.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Okay, so the other place to find resources there is a tab on theefficientadvisorcom called Video and Template Library.
- 17:55Speaker 1: So you may or may not know this, but back in like 2014, 2015, the Efficient Advisor used to be a video show, so I saved a lot of those videos out on the website and it's broken down into three different categories.
- 18:10Speaker 1: There is an industry expert category where, just like on the podcast, where I'm interviewing other experts that can contribute to the way you run and operate your financial planning business.
- 18:20Speaker 1: There is a solo episode area where it's just me doing an episode, kind of like this.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And then there's this cool section there's only two videos out there called online on air coaching.
- 18:32Speaker 1: On air coaching, that's what it is, and this is where two brave souls let me actually coach them live, and I don't know if you're a voyeur like me, but I like, totally love watching other people get coached.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I know that sounds creepy.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Like in our group coaching program we do some hot seat coaching and it's interesting because a lot of the feedback that we get is that that part was really helpful.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Like, hey, I didn't have that question, but I really appreciated hearing how you and other advisors, you know, kind of chipped in, because it's kind of a mastermind component to it, you know answered those questions and it actually like I took something that you said and I applied that to another area of my business or man.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I didn't know that I had that problem, but when that advisor started talking about that issue.
- 19:12Speaker 1: So anyway, if there's, I digress, but there are a couple on air coaching sessions out there and with those on air coaching sessions there are some additional resources there.
- 19:21Speaker 1: So I'm gonna highlight a couple of freebies that are out there.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Okay, the first we did a series called the tactical tip series in the video show and a couple of those have shown up as podcasts as well.
- 19:33Speaker 1: So if you've been a long time listener, I mean I'm we're talking like oh gee, way back.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Episode number four was all about my email templates and with that episode and you can go back and listen to it, I'll link it in the show notes.
- 19:46Speaker 1: In episode four I share how we used email templates and there's a whole bunch of different ways that you can execute this and they're getting cooler and cooler.
- 19:56Speaker 1: So this, like I said, this was filmed, gosh, maybe eight years ago, and since then there's all sorts of cool plugins and extensions and things that you can utilize to make this even faster than when this episode was recorded.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Okay, and as I'm talking, I'm thinking you know what I think this series was done like in 2017 or 2018.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Maybe it wasn't all the way back to the beginning of the video show, but so things that you can use now, like text expander, things like that.
- 20:23Speaker 1: So I'm picturing you know how, on your iPhone, you can go in and create shortcuts where, if you type in a couple of things like the letter AAA, like letters AAA, it can pre-populate whatever you've associated with those three letters, like, hey, I get asked a lot for my address, so I can just type AAA, it'll pre-populate my address and say here's my address, my address is, you know.
- 20:48Speaker 1: So things like that.
- 20:50Speaker 1: So email templates, I think, are a huge, huge way to save so much time inside of your business for you and your team, and in that episode and the video online, I walk through just a bunch of different ways that we used email templates within our business and I actually have a PDF download that goes along with it that shares some examples that you can straight up copy if you want to.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Episode number five so same tactical tip series was called Six Ways.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I Used a Layout Delivery in my business.
- 21:22Speaker 1: So there's a cool feature inside of Outlook and other email service programs where you can actually write the email and have it deliver at a different time and there are six different ways that we use this inside of our practice.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So I'll link that as well.
- 21:36Speaker 1: And along with that episode there was a PDF download.
- 21:40Speaker 1: So same thing with the video show online.
- 21:42Speaker 1: There's a PDF download that has the six different ways and examples of how we used it within our business.
- 21:49Speaker 1: So a lot of the podcast episodes have resources or tools or templates that go along with them.
- 21:56Speaker 1: So you can find those in the podcast page online or some of them exist, if they were also a video, in this video and template tab.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Okay, another example.
- 22:09Speaker 1: So again, this is not an exhaustive list.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I'm just trying to give you some examples and samples of what's out there Under that on air coaching tab, in an episode I did with Adam Hotley.
- 22:21Speaker 1: He and I were talking about just growing the team and growing the practice and he was asking about a resource.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Or what do I say Like, how do I position when my team is expanding, or when we're pivoting and we're making a change as far as service, or we're swapping out staff people and I don't wanna come off as flaky or like I can't keep people or how do I position adding a new person?
- 22:42Speaker 1: How do I language that and create this messaging that actually gets our clients excited about the growth of the business and not kind of scared?
- 22:49Speaker 1: I know often, like you know, when clients hear like, oh, our business is growing, one of the first thoughts.
- 22:54Speaker 1: So anytime you're crafting a message we always wanna be thoughtful about okay, well, how is this message affecting me?
- 23:00Speaker 1: That's what our clients are hearing, right?
- 23:01Speaker 1: So you might be coming out and saying, hey, our office is growing, isn't that so exciting?
- 23:07Speaker 1: But your clients might be thinking, oh, my gosh, well, there's only one, libby.
- 23:11Speaker 1: How is that going to affect me?
- 23:13Speaker 1: Is my service gonna go down?
- 23:14Speaker 1: Is it gonna be harder to get an appointment?
- 23:16Speaker 1: What is gonna change for me?
- 23:18Speaker 1: So it's really important whenever you're crafting a letter or crafting messaging for a re-onboarding or a crafting message for, hey, you're pivoting your ideal client avatar, all the things.
- 23:33Speaker 1: What matters most is how you say it to your clients.
- 23:35Speaker 1: We wanna say it in a way that's client-centric and we're explaining to them why, whatever change it is that you're articulating, or whatever adjustment in your team that you're sharing, why it's good for the client.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Like, why is this great for them?
- 23:50Speaker 1: How do we take and we talked about this and we just talked about this inside of our group coaching program this week actually, as I'm recording this we talked about how do we address our clients' fears or concerns that they might not even know that they had before they have them.
- 24:06Speaker 1: How do we just bring that elephant into the room and address those concerns?
- 24:10Speaker 1: Because often if a client is thinking something, they might not say it, so for them to not be able to articulate it to us.
- 24:19Speaker 1: But maybe they're thinking it.
- 24:21Speaker 1: If we can just address that fear or concern before they articulate it, or as they're thinking it, we can alleviate some of the stress or concern for them and and then we can kind of control the narrative a little bit Right, like, hey, this is why this is really great, this is why this is really exciting.
- 24:38Speaker 1: So instead of letting them and they'll still formulate their own opinions, but instead of letting them decide what slant to put on it you, as the business owner, get to control Some of the the narrative of that message.
- 24:52Speaker 1: So, underneath Adam's episode, you'll see a downloadable template for an office expansion letter.
- 24:57Speaker 1: So just an example of how to language growing your team in a way that gets your clients excited about the Additional customer service that they're going to be experiencing because of your team's growth.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And you might be thinking, libby, that's not the heart of a letter to write.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, most of this stuff is not.
- 25:16Speaker 1: The good news is is it's not meant to be rocket science.
- 25:21Speaker 1: It's meant to be done for you or to give you a chassis to work from, so that you're not sitting at your desk going, okay, what am I supposed to say?
- 25:28Speaker 1: What do I?
- 25:28Speaker 1: What else do I need to include in this letter?
- 25:30Speaker 1: What is?
- 25:31Speaker 1: There's anything else that I should mention?
- 25:32Speaker 1: Here is an example for you to work off of so you get the picture that's just a kind of a little sampler platter of what templates are available for you under the Video and templates tab on the efficient visor.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Alright, and I mentioned a third place to go.
- 25:50Speaker 1: There's really four places, but I'll talk about the fourth place in the next resources episode resources part two that will probably come out in a couple weeks.
- 25:59Speaker 1: The third place, though, for now, is the efficient advisor community on Facebook.
- 26:04Speaker 1: So I did a podcast episode on our standard operating procedure that we built out for when a client passed away.
- 26:12Speaker 1: So this was way back again for the OG listeners this was way back.
- 26:16Speaker 1: This was episode number 28.
- 26:18Speaker 1: So we have 1700 people right now in the Facebook group, so a lot of y'all are in there and might not even know that this existed If you started listening to the podcast in the last like year, year and a half.
- 26:29Speaker 1: So our standard operating procedure was built out of this experience that I remember having when a client passed away and it was a very sweet, near and dear client.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Us, the wife was just a doll and I just remember thinking like six, maybe nine months later after her husband had passed away, like gosh.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I did not do as good a job of keeping in contact with her, and I know like in my own you know my own life experiences that whenever something you know grief oriented happens, there's so much attention poured onto that person right in the beginning and I knew one of the things for us in our business.
- 27:07Speaker 1: I wanted to, from a client experience standpoint and from just a general caring, human standpoint, wanted to make sure that we were loving on those family members Six months later, nine months later, when everybody else had kind of gone back to normal life, and then you, that person that's still sitting in that grief, your, your whole world has changed and it feels like everybody else's world has gone back.
- 27:30Speaker 1: How could we be intentional about Still continuing to reach out and say, hey, we're thinking about you, hey, we know things look different for you.
- 27:39Speaker 1: It's been a year, it's a you know the anniversary of your spouse's passing, it's been 18 months.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Like, how can we continue, even as they're healing and doing their journey?
- 27:48Speaker 1: How can we not Let them fall off a cliff from all of that initial People from church bringing them castles and dinners and meals, and family members coming and staying and checking in how could we continue that Level of caring?
- 28:05Speaker 1: So we built out a standard operating procedure to do that and I have shared it with you as a word doc.
- 28:10Speaker 1: You know anything I can share as a template that's editable.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I do my best to do that.
- 28:14Speaker 1: So there is a word doc for our standard operating procedure for death of a spouse out in the efficient advisor community on Facebook Underneath the files tab.
- 28:25Speaker 1: So make sure you check that out and download it.
- 28:28Speaker 1: You don't have to, there's nothing you have to do, it's just there.
- 28:31Speaker 1: You just download it.
- 28:32Speaker 1: There's no like email or anything you have to enter.
- 28:34Speaker 1: There's no fancy email that comes to you.
- 28:36Speaker 1: It's literally just sitting in there as a word doc.
- 28:39Speaker 1: And before the next resources episode airs, I'm gonna add Another one there, and so I do have a big vision for Creating a hub of resources and sharing for advisors that will include this Facebook group.
- 28:52Speaker 1: So if you're not in the efficient advisor community over on Facebook, I would love, love, love if you joined me and the other 1700 advisors or advisors staff.
- 29:02Speaker 1: So we have a way of screening people coming into the group to make sure they actually are in financial services and they're not just someone.
- 29:09Speaker 1: They're promoting their you know only fans or whatever.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Whatever the weird stuff you get out there on the internet.
- 29:15Speaker 1: It's advisors or individuals who are Operational inside of an advisory practice.
- 29:21Speaker 1: So you and I got this question when I was at the fba next gen conference like, hey, I'm not a cfp, can I be in the group?
- 29:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm not a cfp either, in a minute.
- 29:30Speaker 1: So it's great.
- 29:30Speaker 1: You don't have to have any special designations, you can be a wealth coach.
- 29:34Speaker 1: You don't have to be an ria, you can be a broker dealer All walks are welcome here.
- 29:40Speaker 1: You can absolutely have a seat at the table.
- 29:43Speaker 1: The vision here is just to create a place for advisors, financial planners, wealth managers whatever it is that you want to call yourself financial coaches A place to help each other elevate the industry.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I'm a big believer that all ships rise together, and what I love about the community is when someone posts a question, people just pour in their answers and I just think it is just a really cool place.
- 30:06Speaker 1: So I'd love to have you join us, if you are not already there.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Okay, and in a mission to keep the episodes a little bit shorter, I'm going to wrap it up here.
- 30:15Speaker 1: So make sure you check out the resource library or some of the vetted vendors and partners and just resources that I have found for you guys.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Make sure you check out the video and templates tab for just a whole slew of random templates and workbooks covering everything from charitable giving conversation ideas to you know, the office expansion letter to.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I mean, there's just a bunch email templates, you name it.
- 30:43Speaker 1: There's a bunch of stuff out there.
- 30:44Speaker 1: And then also, don't forget to check the files tab of the Facebook group for that standard operating procedure for when a client passes away.
- 30:52Speaker 1: All right, that's all I've got for you guys today.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I hope you found this episode helpful and I will be back again here in a couple of weeks to share some additional tools and resources for you guys, just so that you know what's available to you out there at the tip of your fingertips.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Okay, and I lied.
- 31:10Speaker 1: There is one more thing that I wanted to share.
- 31:13Speaker 1: If you are on LinkedIn, make sure you follow or connect with me, and if you ever have an idea for a podcast episode, please do not hesitate to DM me and let me know.
- 31:29Speaker 1: We have just a giant running list of all of the questions that were commonly asked.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Or people will say like, hey, can you do an episode or can you share some details on how you, you know, started taking more time off and your team was still working full time, and what did that dynamic look like and how did that go?
- 31:49Speaker 1: Or perhaps we get an email from or a DM from somebody saying, hey, do you know like, do you have a resource for this?
- 31:56Speaker 1: Or here's something I bumped into into my practice Do you have any language surrounding that, those ideas?
- 32:02Speaker 1: Not only do I want to come up with stuff that worked for me that I want to share with you, and things that I've seen work for other advisors that I want to share with you, but, more importantly, I want you to know that you can come and ask for stuff and if we've got it, I would love to do a podcast episode.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Or we've done a couple mailbag episodes where we've answered very specific questions from you guys.
- 32:23Speaker 1: I would love to do more of that for you.
- 32:25Speaker 1: So please don't hesitate to connect over on LinkedIn with me and share any ideas, tools, resources.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I've also had a lot of people emailing me saying, hey, do you know so?
- 32:37Speaker 1: And so you should get to know them.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Or here's a adjacent you know financial services adjacent person that I think would be really interesting to bring into this conversation, whether it's about building digital sales funnels or you know whatever and then I can go and vet those resources and make sure that their financial service industry specific right, Because y'all know we've got a lot of extra.
- 32:57Speaker 1: You know, layers to deal with when it comes to FINRA and compliance and there's just a lot of rules and regulations, which is why I work really, really hard to make sure that when I'm bringing people to you that they know, understand and work in the financial services industry so that they can understand and relate to the specific issues, concerns, causes, Because I know I can remember, like always looking outside of the industry for more ideas for marketing and kind of looking at what other industries are doing and wanting to translate that into financial services, often to be met with like a big fat.
- 33:31Speaker 1: No, because it was just too difficult from a archiving perspective or a compliance perspective.
- 33:39Speaker 1: And the world has changed a lot since I started my business back in 2004.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I mean, come on, that was like almost 20 years ago now.
- 33:44Speaker 1: So things have continued to evolve while I was running my business and it's continued to evolve since then.
- 33:49Speaker 1: So it's all getting better and better and cooler and cooler.
- 33:52Speaker 1: But I still want to make sure that whoever we're bringing to you understands the unique challenges that do exist when you are an advisor and also often a business owner.
- 34:03Speaker 1: All right, I'm done yapping.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Now I'm officially done for real this time.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Hope you guys have an amazing rest of your week.
