- 3:01Speaker 3: week's adt me please pet of the week. Good morning,
- 3:05Speaker 3: welcome to the show.
- 3:06Speaker 6: Good morning.
- 3:08Speaker 3: You ready for this Memorial weekend?
- 3:10Speaker 6: I'm so ready.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Oh I know you guys got an event going on tomorrow.
- 3:14Speaker 3: I'm'll talk about that a little bit later on. But
- 3:16Speaker 3: as always, we're trying to get a pet adopted. We're
- 3:19Speaker 3: going with a cat this week. Picture posted Dave Alan
- 3:22Speaker 3: Radio on Facebook and had Dave a seventy on X
- 3:24Speaker 3: and I will say that immediately after your segment, Angie,
- 3:27Speaker 3: I got Jim Strawn come in to talk live on
- 3:30Speaker 3: the levee and we're going to put the pressure on
- 3:32Speaker 3: mister Strawn because I think he's interested in this cat.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Just let me just saying, just saying it.
- 3:38Speaker 6: That sounds good.
- 3:39Speaker 5: You give him my number, Okay.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I will, I will, all right. So I want to
- 3:42Speaker 3: make sure I pronounce the cat correctly. It's Yisma, Is
- 3:46Speaker 3: that right?
- 3:48Speaker 2: Uh?
- 3:48Speaker 6: Yizmasma. However you can get it out well.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I looked at when you sent me the text last night.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I actually looked it up and the pronouncer, if you will,
- 3:57Speaker 3: that I got said Yizma. But then and checking with
- 4:00Speaker 3: people in the office this morning and of course, Ryan
- 4:03Speaker 3: is the my go to on this. He tells me
- 4:06Speaker 3: it is yizma. Is that right, Ryan? It is Yezma? Yeah,
- 4:09Speaker 3: it is zma. Yeah, it's isma ismamasma. That's that's how
- 4:14Speaker 3: I was raised to pronounce it. And it's from a
- 4:18Speaker 3: Disney movie? Is that right?
- 4:19Speaker 7: Emperor's New Groove?
- 4:20Speaker 3: Okay? All right, see you guys, Angie, I feel like
- 4:23Speaker 3: that you take advantage of the old guy here because
- 4:25Speaker 3: you know you you yeah, and I know you and
- 4:27Speaker 3: Ryan aren't cahoots in kahoots with each other, but I
- 4:29Speaker 3: mean it's like, you guys know how to pronounce these things,
- 4:32Speaker 3: and Ryan, you know, gives me this look like, what
- 4:33Speaker 3: do you mean you don't know how to pronounce that?
- 4:35Speaker 3: You know? And so but Yzma, we'll go with that.
- 4:38Speaker 6: How's that that sounds great? Hey, however it comes out,
- 4:42Speaker 6: we'll just roll with.
- 4:43Speaker 3: We just want to call her adopted. That's what we
- 4:45Speaker 3: want to call her, and you can and maybe you
- 4:47Speaker 3: can change the name if you don't like it, but anyway,
- 4:49Speaker 3: tell us about this wonderful, beautiful cat.
- 4:53Speaker 6: So she is currently living at our pet co Pit Houses,
- 4:56Speaker 6: which are just Stark Kennels at pet Coast South Ridge,
- 5:00Speaker 6: but I like to give him a fun little name
- 5:01Speaker 6: to kind of make it.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I love it. I love it. I love it the
- 5:03Speaker 3: Pet Joe penhouse.
- 5:06Speaker 6: But she is up there. She hides in a little
- 5:08Speaker 6: tiny Amazon box that was placed into her kennel. She
- 5:12Speaker 6: just hides in there all day long. She will come
- 5:14Speaker 6: out for wet food. But I do believe she is
- 5:17Speaker 6: really missing her roommate that was living with her. His
- 5:20Speaker 6: name was Kronk, after the Emperor's New Groove, but he
- 5:24Speaker 6: has since been adopted, and I think she's just a
- 5:27Speaker 6: little sad without him. So if you have other cats
- 5:29Speaker 6: in your home, I think she would perk right up
- 5:32Speaker 6: if you take her into your home.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you told me that story last night, and it
- 5:36Speaker 3: is kind of sad, and I understand that. People. Look,
- 5:38Speaker 3: I got two cats, and that's all I can do
- 5:41Speaker 3: is to just to maintain the two. You can't always
- 5:44Speaker 3: come in you want to adopt a cat or a
- 5:46Speaker 3: dog for that matter, but cats, especially because they tend
- 5:48Speaker 3: to be and want to stick together a little bit,
- 5:50Speaker 3: you can't always adopt both of them. I understand, but
- 5:52Speaker 3: it is kind of sad when it happens that way.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Correct, And I like you said, we understand that, you know,
- 5:58Speaker 6: you can only give one a home at a time.
- 6:00Speaker 6: That's perfectly understandable. We're all at capacity at the shelter ourselves.
- 6:05Speaker 6: But you know, seeing her shut down like that, it
- 6:08Speaker 6: does tug on your heartstrings a little bit. So the
- 6:10Speaker 6: good news is we are very you know, we're very
- 6:13Speaker 6: confident that somebody with cats will come along and take
- 6:16Speaker 6: her home.
- 6:17Speaker 3: And you tend to think, now, and there's no way,
- 6:20Speaker 3: there's no guarantee, Angie, but you tend to think that
- 6:22Speaker 3: if you get yisma with another cat that she probably
- 6:27Speaker 3: will be just fine.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Correct. I think so. I think she'll open up. I
- 6:31Speaker 6: think she'll be less shy and less wanting to hide.
- 6:34Speaker 6: But if you have cats, you know, cats are dramatic
- 6:37Speaker 6: and day one usually doesn't go so hot with cats.
- 6:40Speaker 6: So if you do take her home, please give her
- 6:43Speaker 6: and your cats past day one to you know, get
- 6:46Speaker 6: used to each other.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and they usually do, because you know, with with
- 6:49Speaker 3: our two cats, we have Grady and we have Whylan.
- 6:52Speaker 3: They both showed up on our doorsteps as strays when
- 6:56Speaker 3: we we had two cats previously, and one of them
- 6:59Speaker 3: we had to have put down. And Grady, you know,
- 7:01Speaker 3: those two cats weren't close at all. I mean Grady tried,
- 7:04Speaker 3: but you know, r Ip midnight, she wasn't having it
- 7:07Speaker 3: and she just wanted no part of it. But with
- 7:10Speaker 3: this one that we the other one that we brought in,
- 7:12Speaker 3: they were a little bit you know, stand office at first.
- 7:14Speaker 3: But now they seem to get along fine. I mean
- 7:17Speaker 3: when I left this morning, they were in in my
- 7:19Speaker 3: office side by side, looking out the window at the
- 7:22Speaker 3: birds outside. So but you got to give it more.
- 7:25Speaker 3: You can't. You can't bring them in in like two
- 7:27Speaker 3: or three days and say, well, this is not gonna work,
- 7:29Speaker 3: because eventually with cats, I mean, they don't have to
- 7:32Speaker 3: be like my previous two. Like I said, they they
- 7:34Speaker 3: never really they weren't hanging out together. They weren't going
- 7:36Speaker 3: to them all together. Okay, uh but but but they
- 7:40Speaker 3: co existed. So you got to give it a couple
- 7:42Speaker 3: of days if you bring her in with another.
- 7:43Speaker 6: Cat, right correct, and co exists? Is that was such
- 7:47Speaker 6: a beautiful word because I have you know, five cats myself,
- 7:51Speaker 6: and not all of them quite get along together. But
- 7:56Speaker 6: they can co exist together. And as long as everyone's happy,
- 8:00Speaker 6: I'm happy. Yea.
- 8:01Speaker 3: And she is two years old. She is spaded, everything's
- 8:04Speaker 3: up to date or shots and everything like that. And
- 8:07Speaker 3: she probably just needs a buddy. So if you have
- 8:10Speaker 3: a cat and you could take on another one who
- 8:12Speaker 3: maybe you're like Ange and you got four or five
- 8:14Speaker 3: one more, I think she would be I think she'd
- 8:17Speaker 3: be a great pet for you. We'll get back to
- 8:18Speaker 3: her momentily and as always again our pet of the
- 8:21Speaker 3: week's pictures posted on my social media. It's at Dave
- 8:24Speaker 3: A seventy on x and also on a Dave Allen
- 8:27Speaker 3: radio on Facebook. All right, so you got an adoption
- 8:29Speaker 3: event going on tomorrow over at Green Infusion. I did
- 8:33Speaker 3: a live broadcast on her sister stationed the Mountain from
- 8:35Speaker 3: there about a month or so ago. They're wonderful people
- 8:37Speaker 3: over there. It's located over on the west side, four
- 8:39Speaker 3: twenty five West Washington Street. So you'll be out there
- 8:42Speaker 3: tomorrow right.
- 8:44Speaker 6: Yes, tomorrow, from a noon to about three pm four pm,
- 8:48Speaker 6: just depending on the weather and how long the animals
- 8:50Speaker 6: can tolerate then olt time.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Now, when you go out for an event like that,
- 8:54Speaker 3: what do you I mean, how many do you normally take?
- 8:58Speaker 3: What's the optimal number that you like to take out?
- 9:02Speaker 6: Usually as many as we can fit into our vehicles.
- 9:05Speaker 6: Me and whoever see employee or volunteer that's going with me.
- 9:09Speaker 6: We like to load down our cars and take as
- 9:11Speaker 6: many as we can. It usually rounds out to probably
- 9:14Speaker 6: anywhere from ten to fifteen an So.
- 9:16Speaker 3: You're going to start about noon tomorrow, right what you said?
- 9:18Speaker 5: Yes?
- 9:19Speaker 6: Correct?
- 9:19Speaker 3: All right? But Dave Allen showing five eighty Live is
- 9:21Speaker 3: brought to you apart by Husband's Pizza this month. Get
- 9:23Speaker 3: a large eighteen inch Pepperoni pizza and an order of
- 9:26Speaker 3: cinnamon Bytes twenty ninety nine. He didn't pick up or
- 9:28Speaker 3: get delivery big going to Husband's Pizza dot com. How
- 9:31Speaker 3: are we looking numbers wise, Angie.
- 9:34Speaker 6: Busting at the seams?
- 9:36Speaker 8: We are We were over five hundred, We got back
- 9:40Speaker 8: under five hundred, and people you know, keep leaving us
- 9:44Speaker 8: gifts at our gate overnight, which has put us back
- 9:47Speaker 8: up to five hundred.
- 9:48Speaker 3: So, and I actually had you on our midday show
- 9:52Speaker 3: talking about this situation from earlier in the week. The
- 9:54Speaker 3: Tote story tell us The Tote story.
- 9:58Speaker 6: So, one of our employees actually taking her husband to work,
- 10:02Speaker 6: and as she's driving by the shelter, she sees a
- 10:06Speaker 6: dog that runs out and hits their car, and she
- 10:10Speaker 6: did end up hitting the dog. Good news is the
- 10:12Speaker 6: dog is doing fine. She has nothing broken, nothing internal
- 10:16Speaker 6: going on. But so she it notices that there are
- 10:20Speaker 6: dogs and puppies just running everywhere. So she communicates with
- 10:24Speaker 6: our staff. Everybody starts rushing in and we just find
- 10:30Speaker 6: puppies all over the place at the shelter that have
- 10:32Speaker 6: escaped from a storage toad and are just running everywhere
- 10:37Speaker 6: on the shelter's parking lot.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and so how many were there total?
- 10:42Speaker 8: Again, so there are eight total.
- 10:45Speaker 6: We have captured seven. There's still one on the loose
- 10:48Speaker 6: that is smarter than I guess any of us that
- 10:50Speaker 6: work at the shelters.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Well, well, the good news is, as you said about
- 10:55Speaker 3: the one dog that was hit, that that dog seems
- 10:57Speaker 3: to be doing okay. Now, we just got to try
- 10:59Speaker 3: to get some homes. You we had a lot of
- 11:00Speaker 3: wonderful pets out there, and you know, there's never a
- 11:04Speaker 3: bad time of year to adopt. But now that we're
- 11:06Speaker 3: getting into summertime and you know you're going to be
- 11:09Speaker 3: taking vacations and things of that nature, and you're going
- 11:12Speaker 3: to be spending more time outdoors, be a great time
- 11:14Speaker 3: to go get to get yourself, get your family a
- 11:16Speaker 3: dog that you can take to the picnic, take to
- 11:18Speaker 3: the park or whatever wherever you may be going.
- 11:23Speaker 6: Correct. And also now is a great time to foster,
- 11:26Speaker 6: because not only are you getting the dog out of
- 11:28Speaker 6: the shelter, you get a temporary dog and when you
- 11:30Speaker 6: go on that vacation or you know what have you,
- 11:33Speaker 6: you can bring them back to us people gladly take
- 11:36Speaker 6: them back. All right.
- 11:36Speaker 3: One other thing before we let you go on your
- 11:39Speaker 3: social media. I see that, and we want to give
- 11:41Speaker 3: a big shout out to the folks at Burke and
- 11:43Speaker 3: Herbert Bank and their foundation because you guys got a
- 11:46Speaker 3: ten thousand dollars grant.
- 11:49Speaker 6: Yes we did, and we are super excited about that.
- 11:52Speaker 6: As our executive director put it best, this is going
- 11:55Speaker 6: to help us help even more animals in our area
- 11:58Speaker 6: with life saving care, feeding them in Richmond.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Just all the things, all right, all right, Angie, And
- 12:07Speaker 3: again I want to one Ryan folks that you're going
- 12:09Speaker 3: to be over on the West Side tomorrow started at
- 12:11Speaker 3: noon over with green infusion over the west Side started
- 12:15Speaker 3: at noon four twenty five West Washington's Tree with all
- 12:18Speaker 3: kinds of critters to be adopted, over there to go
- 12:19Speaker 3: over there and get yourself an animal, and Angie, thank
- 12:23Speaker 3: you for all that you do and we'll talk again
- 12:25Speaker 3: next week.
- 12:26Speaker 6: Alrighty have a good one, all.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Right, Angie and Gilla wanted from mcnaw Charleston New Main
- 12:30Speaker 3: Association with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Yizma,
- 12:35Speaker 3: two year old cat spade up to date on all shots,
- 12:38Speaker 3: everything else, We're ready to go. She's been very shy
- 12:41Speaker 3: since her roommate was adopted from the Petco Penhouses, so
- 12:46Speaker 3: she's kind of kind of gone into her shell a
- 12:48Speaker 3: little bit here, so I think, and what Angie was saying,
- 12:50Speaker 3: and you know, with animals, they kind of do what
- 12:52Speaker 3: they want to do. But with animals, she seems to
- 12:55Speaker 3: think that if maybe you get her with another cat,
- 12:57Speaker 3: that she should be just fine because she kind of
- 13:00Speaker 3: missing her roommate. By the way, I do love that
- 13:01Speaker 3: named the pet Goo Penhouses. So I've got Yusma's picture
- 13:05Speaker 3: posted over on my social media so you can check
- 13:08Speaker 3: it out on Dave Island Radio and also at Dave
- 13:10Speaker 3: A seventy on x Okay, I got a text here.
- 13:16Speaker 3: I'll try to get an answer to that because it

- 15:54Speaker 10: I've checked out the studio. I've watched it being constructed.
- 15:57Speaker 10: The renovation took a little time, but boy, you know what,
- 16:00Speaker 10: this is literally my first official time in the new studio,
- 16:04Speaker 10: on official on I'm on' you yeah, and people can
- 16:08Speaker 10: hear me, I hope.
- 16:09Speaker 3: And uh well yeah, talk a little louder, all right.
- 16:11Speaker 3: So here's the thing. Here's the thing that when because
- 16:14Speaker 3: from time to time when we do live on the levee,
- 16:16Speaker 3: you'll bring the guests in when that's when it works out.
- 16:18Speaker 3: We got plenty of room. This room goes. We got
- 16:21Speaker 3: we got spots in here. Plus where Ryan is on
- 16:23Speaker 3: the other side of the glass, we can throw three
- 16:25Speaker 3: or four more in there.
- 16:26Speaker 10: Because the band members. If there's three or four band
- 16:27Speaker 10: members that they all have their own mic. We're just
- 16:29Speaker 10: going to put on a big old concert here. We
- 16:31Speaker 10: made it work in the past. It wasn't always easy.
- 16:34Speaker 10: Ryan and Coop and Matt Murray, They've always made my
- 16:37Speaker 10: ear or if you kind of hinting around. But I'm
- 16:40Speaker 10: going to go to work on that.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Absolutely, we got Chicago Rewired coming in this show.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I don't know if we can bring the entire Chicago
- 16:46Speaker 3: horn sell that might ask.
- 16:48Speaker 10: I don't know how many band members they have. It's
- 16:49Speaker 10: a Chicago Rewired coming later on to head out of
- 16:52Speaker 10: the front park.
- 16:53Speaker 3: But yeah, they're going to do it right. They got
- 16:54Speaker 3: to have some horns.
- 16:55Speaker 10: So tonight we're launching our twenty first Moses Auto Group
- 16:59Speaker 10: Live on the Levee. Season twenty twenty five is upon us.
- 17:04Speaker 10: This is my twentieth season to host a Dave. What
- 17:06Speaker 10: do you think of that twentieth season? But it's going
- 17:08Speaker 10: to be a uniquely different night. It's going to be
- 17:11Speaker 10: an epic night. It has the makings of an epic
- 17:15Speaker 10: night in Chuckytown, West Virginia. With this cycling that we've
- 17:17Speaker 10: been talking about so much, but we're gonna weave in
- 17:20Speaker 10: the launch of the Moses Uarto Group Live Levey, and
- 17:23Speaker 10: I want folks to hear me loud and clear, and
- 17:24Speaker 10: I want you to continue to say it, and I
- 17:26Speaker 10: want Matt and the Mayor to continue to say it.
- 17:28Speaker 10: We have been saying it a lot. But if you're
- 17:30Speaker 10: not used to the music at Live and Levee starting
- 17:32Speaker 10: at five o'clock, it's only going to be for tonight.
- 17:36Speaker 10: So if you come down at six or six thirty
- 17:38Speaker 10: expecting to hear music and get like, what the heck,
- 17:42Speaker 10: I'm sorry, the music could be over by six.
- 17:44Speaker 3: So at five o'clock, well, actually at.
- 17:47Speaker 10: Four forty five, the mayor is going to do a proclamation,
- 17:49Speaker 10: little ceremony for the cycling folks, and then she'll give
- 17:52Speaker 10: it the mic back over to me and I'll make
- 17:54Speaker 10: a few announcements, thanks some folks, and then I will
- 17:57Speaker 10: bring on at five o'clock the Reverend Horton Heat. The
- 18:00Speaker 10: Reverend Horton Heat will take center stage down at had
- 18:03Speaker 10: that river Front Park on the Showenbomb Stage five o'clock sharp.
- 18:07Speaker 10: They'll play a set for about sixty minutes. And if
- 18:10Speaker 10: you don't know them, they are a national act. Their
- 18:13Speaker 10: country and bluesy and rock eash and it kind of
- 18:16Speaker 10: meets with the high octane energy and they call it
- 18:19Speaker 10: spaghetti western sound, like an old sixties, fifties seventies Western
- 18:24Speaker 10: movie sound, you know, with the cowboy lone cowboy riding
- 18:28Speaker 10: high in these horse, a little Clint Eastwood, a little good,
- 18:31Speaker 10: bad and ugly, and some of those other you know,
- 18:33Speaker 10: Dan Martin western sort of thing. It's very very entertaining.
- 18:37Speaker 10: I've listened to a couple of their songs, so they'll
- 18:40Speaker 10: play for an hour live and Levy is still great
- 18:45Speaker 10: fun for that great cause. We're still helping those five
- 18:47Speaker 10: Inner City Charity's Day. They haven't changed that in years.
- 18:51Speaker 10: Tonight will be RCCR night, but we also help the
- 18:54Speaker 10: Sojourner Shelter in the Covenant House and Man and Meal
- 18:57Speaker 10: and the old work Solo which is now called Peak Living.
- 19:00Speaker 10: But we're gonna sell fifty to fifty tickets during the concert,
- 19:03Speaker 10: during the show from five to six, and then again
- 19:06Speaker 10: a little different night. We're gonna do the fifty to
- 19:08Speaker 10: fifty drawing about six o'clock or six oh five after
- 19:12Speaker 10: the concert.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Is over, and then we're gonna throw it over.
- 19:15Speaker 10: To the bicycling folks and they'll take over the MC duties,
- 19:18Speaker 10: the USA Cycling, the Pro Road and the national championships.
- 19:22Speaker 10: They have the ultimate racing tonight that'll start at six thirty,
- 19:25Speaker 10: So if you're down for the concert on the hat
- 19:28Speaker 10: Ed Riverfront Park side, you can just stick around and
- 19:31Speaker 10: watch the racing from that side. And then in between
- 19:34Speaker 10: some racing breaks, there's gonna be crosswalks. I kind of
- 19:37Speaker 10: compare it to like a golf tournament. After the last
- 19:40Speaker 10: golfer goes by, they open up the ropes and you're
- 19:42Speaker 10: can walk across the fairway. That's what the crosswalks will have.
- 19:45Speaker 10: So it's gonna be a little different. Be patient parking.
- 19:49Speaker 10: There's parking downtown, but you might have to walk a
- 19:51Speaker 10: little bit over to hat Ed Riverfront Park. But this
- 19:54Speaker 10: has the makings of a really epic night, a really
- 19:56Speaker 10: fun night. The music is gonna be awesome. But it
- 19:59Speaker 10: starts to five o'clock. Folks, get down there, Get down there,
- 20:03Speaker 10: come into town a little bit early and get parked.
- 20:05Speaker 10: Get over there, you know, bring your chairs, plenty of
- 20:08Speaker 10: places to sit. It had to enter the front park
- 20:10Speaker 10: and then stick around for some really amazing athletes.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Have you seen some of these dicycling.
- 20:17Speaker 10: And tonight is the upper tier level, the ultimate whether
- 20:19Speaker 10: they call it the Ultimate or the Elite, the elite division,
- 20:22Speaker 10: So these.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Guys will be be fun. What amazes me, and I've
- 20:25Speaker 3: said this a couple of times on both shows, Jim,
- 20:27Speaker 3: what amazes me is the incredible speed. I mean, you
- 20:31Speaker 3: just you know that was the last year when I
- 20:33Speaker 3: was downtown for the first time and I'd seen it
- 20:35Speaker 3: on TV and that, but I've never been prepared a
- 20:37Speaker 3: person I just right in front of you could not believe.
- 20:41Speaker 5: What is it?
- 20:42Speaker 3: What is it that? I don't know who coined this,
- 20:44Speaker 3: whether Brian Hughes or whomever, but somebody that the corner
- 20:47Speaker 3: there in front of Art Emporium, They've got a name
- 20:49Speaker 3: for Tracy's Place. It's like a corner Hell's Corner, I
- 20:54Speaker 3: think is what they call it. That could be that's
- 20:58Speaker 3: a good one.
- 20:59Speaker 10: But yeah, they got they got the straw there now,
- 21:01Speaker 10: so I know there's some possibilities.
- 21:03Speaker 3: We don't want to see that, but no, no, it
- 21:05Speaker 3: can happen. You don't want to see that, and obviously
- 21:08Speaker 3: don't want to see anybody hurt. But I mean, let's
- 21:09Speaker 3: face it. A lot of people go to NASCAR for
- 21:12Speaker 3: the reps, and if you don't want to see that,
- 21:14Speaker 3: I'm not trying nobody here. But it is highly competitive.
- 21:19Speaker 10: There are a bush of bicyclists, you know, neck and neck,
- 21:21Speaker 10: foot and foot, paddle to pedal, so it can happen.
- 21:25Speaker 3: But come down and.
- 21:26Speaker 10: Listen to some great music. There's still some food vendors
- 21:28Speaker 10: down there, still some spirited beverages. They'll be flowing right
- 21:31Speaker 10: there at four points by Sheridan. We've had another really
- 21:35Speaker 10: sell year with getting folks to support this. Of course,
- 21:38Speaker 10: this is Moses Auto Group's eighteenth season to be the
- 21:42Speaker 10: presenting sponsor. But we have the health plan back Brewer
- 21:45Speaker 10: and Company been with us all twenty one years. Loundol
- 21:48Speaker 10: Marine and a new big one this year, PoCA Valley,
- 21:51Speaker 10: and there's there's many other ones. They'll be down there tonight.
- 21:54Speaker 10: Lots of food vendors, I don't know. There'll be lots
- 21:57Speaker 10: of boasts tonight. You know last year we heard some
- 22:00Speaker 10: about day got it, Jimmy, it's hotter than eighties down.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Yeah, not tonight.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Now.
- 22:05Speaker 10: If you're worried about being hot, then this is your
- 22:07Speaker 10: night the opposite. But I'll be in shorts, maybe a
- 22:09Speaker 10: little maybe a little jacket, but bring a jacket or
- 22:12Speaker 10: a sweatshirt for later on when it gets cool. But
- 22:15Speaker 10: it has the makings of a big night. I think
- 22:17Speaker 10: the season is going to be a lot of fun.
- 22:19Speaker 10: I don't have the season schedule right in front of me,
- 22:21Speaker 10: but it's going to be fun. It'll go to August
- 22:23Speaker 10: the first. Lots of things happening in and around Charleston
- 22:27Speaker 10: this summer starting tonight, but the festival is going to
- 22:31Speaker 10: be great. Slack Plaus is almost always something going on.
- 22:34Speaker 10: I think there's going to be I think DJ e
- 22:36Speaker 10: J s at Slack Pauses tonight from seven thirty that
- 22:38Speaker 10: I'm thirty playing music while the races are going on
- 22:40Speaker 10: five five Street breweries, all the.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Brutes will be happening.
- 22:43Speaker 10: Yeah, your sister Station B one hundred Steve will be
- 22:46Speaker 10: down on Hell Street tonight.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I mean there's just a love of animal animals from
- 22:51Speaker 3: the mountain town there.
- 22:52Speaker 10: W w K will be a big presence down there tonight.
- 22:55Speaker 10: Just the town is. The town is buzzing. You know,
- 22:59Speaker 10: if you have friends in family in come downtown, get
- 23:02Speaker 10: your bite, get your beverage, and enjoy some music and
- 23:05Speaker 10: then just turn around, literally, just turn around. I'm watch
- 23:07Speaker 10: some amazing athletes. These are world class athletes. I mean,
- 23:11Speaker 10: of course we had the Olympian last year, right, she's
- 23:14Speaker 10: back again.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Yeah, So it's and then some of these people could
- 23:16Speaker 3: also qualify, absolutely will qualify for that.
- 23:19Speaker 10: So it has the makings of a big evening. And
- 23:22Speaker 10: I appreciate the opportunity to be on here with you guys.
- 23:25Speaker 10: And this station has always been so good to help
- 23:28Speaker 10: us promote all the good stuff that's going on in town.
- 23:30Speaker 10: And you've been a good friend to me and the
- 23:32Speaker 10: city and to the Levy and I know you enjoy
- 23:35Speaker 10: coming down when you can. But folks, tonight, I can't
- 23:37Speaker 10: stress it enough. Try to get there between four thirty
- 23:39Speaker 10: and five. Had ed river Front Park on the show
- 23:42Speaker 10: and Bomb Stage Reverend Horton Heat. They'll start at five o'clock.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Got to be there. If you're there at six, you
- 23:48Speaker 3: missed a concert. Yeah, you got to get there early.
- 23:50Speaker 3: To Dave Allen showing five Any Live is brought to
- 23:52Speaker 3: you a part my Live Healthy West Virginia presented by
- 23:54Speaker 3: WVU Medicine, tackling pressing health issues of all types. Great
- 23:58Speaker 3: Resource check outlated this episode wv metronews dot com to
- 24:01Speaker 3: the podcast menu and start your journey towards better health today.
- 24:04Speaker 3: And I do want to talk about there are less
- 24:07Speaker 3: Live on the Levees this year.
- 24:09Speaker 10: There's so much to do a tribute to the mayor
- 24:12Speaker 10: in the City Hall and her administration. They have given
- 24:16Speaker 10: us a plethora of stuff to engage in, from Slack
- 24:21Speaker 10: Plaza and the Regatta return and now this cycling and
- 24:26Speaker 10: fest of all and and and all these fairs that
- 24:29Speaker 10: we have, and all the music. There's just there's there's
- 24:33Speaker 10: there's always gonna be something happening in town on the weekends.
- 24:37Speaker 10: We just don't have room for all the fifteen Live
- 24:39Speaker 10: on the Levees like we used to have. But we're
- 24:42Speaker 10: still gonna go all summer. We're still gonna go all year.
- 24:45Speaker 10: We're gonna go all the way to August. The first
- 24:47Speaker 10: Back to School night will be awesome as always on August,
- 24:50Speaker 10: the first for the Live on Levee even I'll talk
- 24:52Speaker 10: about it when it gets a little bit closer. We're
- 24:54Speaker 10: gonna have a very special Thursday evening. Never had a
- 24:57Speaker 10: Thursday evening Moses Auto Group Live on Levee. We are
- 25:00Speaker 10: this year on June the twenty sixth.
- 25:01Speaker 3: I can't wait. Get that weekend started a day earlier.
- 25:03Speaker 3: I'm all in.
- 25:04Speaker 10: I got all my chips in on Thursday night for
- 25:06Speaker 10: the levee, So it is gonna be a little different,
- 25:08Speaker 10: but nothing wrong with change, and I think it's changed
- 25:11Speaker 10: is gonna be good. It's a very exciting time for
- 25:13Speaker 10: the city and there's so much to do. We just
- 25:16Speaker 10: couldn't weave in live and levee every Friday night. So
- 25:19Speaker 10: it's gonna be fun summer. I'm jack for the summer.
- 25:22Speaker 5: I'm read.
- 25:23Speaker 3: It's a great problem text here for you, gymiss WVU
- 25:26Speaker 3: baseball take it on Arizona at five o'clock. Also make
- 25:28Speaker 3: sure give updates during it to the concert goers. Done
- 25:31Speaker 3: and you got that well? They won the last night, yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 3: and then Marshall's baseball team Sunday. Yeah they got beat
- 25:40Speaker 3: but they're still so they got to play Louisiana tonight,
- 25:44Speaker 3: which is who they beat on Wednesday, and if they
- 25:46Speaker 3: win that, they'll play the top day. But I want
- 25:48Speaker 3: to do on public record right now, this is public record, right?
- 25:50Speaker 5: Are we on? Live?
- 25:50Speaker 3: Are we on?
- 25:51Speaker 5: Are we good?
- 25:51Speaker 3: There's three people listening? Yeah?
- 25:54Speaker 10: If when WWU goes to Omaha. We've never been, mark
- 25:58Speaker 10: my word, I will be there. I'm going it's it's
- 26:00Speaker 10: a bucket list thing, the College World Series. But if
- 26:03Speaker 10: we're in it, I'm going. If I have to miss
- 26:05Speaker 10: a Live and Levy, I'm going to oball. Maybe I'll
- 26:09Speaker 10: fly back like Ryan Seacrestwood the host Live and Levey
- 26:11Speaker 10: and then back out for the championship game of college baseball.
- 26:14Speaker 3: We have a good team. Oh yeah, absolutely. Before we
- 26:16Speaker 3: let you go, I want to talk a little bit
- 26:17Speaker 3: about the Reverend Horton Heat.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Well so you listened to do you know him?
- 26:21Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 26:21Speaker 10: Okay, you're more of a music guy than I am.
- 26:23Speaker 10: I just introduced the bands. By the way I am.
- 26:26Speaker 3: It's somebody. So the text about Reverend Horton Heat and said, rockabelly,
- 26:30Speaker 3: rockabilly storytelling because it's a way that you start. It's different,
- 26:33Speaker 3: and I will say it's it's a very eclectic musical act.
- 26:38Speaker 3: And uh, I listen to us radio guys. We like
- 26:41Speaker 3: to go off the deep end sometimes and listen to
- 26:43Speaker 3: things that we don't necessarily hear on radio all the time.
- 26:46Speaker 3: And I listen to a lot of what's called alternative country. Okah,
- 26:50Speaker 3: and is this, this is this? He is a he's
- 26:53Speaker 3: very big in the alternative country world.
- 26:56Speaker 10: Well, I had to look up the high octane spaghetti
- 26:59Speaker 10: Western sound and I had to look that up.
- 27:00Speaker 3: By the way, that's how they describe themselves.
- 27:02Speaker 10: So if you know what that is, you know what
- 27:03Speaker 10: you're getting, all right, But again it is at five o'clock.
- 27:06Speaker 10: People neede down there ceremony at four forty five with
- 27:09Speaker 10: the mayor little proclamation, get there, get your spirit of beverage,
- 27:12Speaker 10: get your bite deep, enjoy the high octane live music
- 27:16Speaker 10: from had ed River, from park on the show and
- 27:18Speaker 10: bump stage, hot and heat.
- 27:20Speaker 3: I'll be there. It'll start at five and it'll wrap up,
- 27:22Speaker 3: you know, seven o'clock.
- 27:23Speaker 10: We'll we'll do the fifty fifty drawing a six, a
- 27:26Speaker 10: few announcements, and then over to the cycling posts.
- 27:28Speaker 3: But when we do have the next Live on the Leavy,
- 27:29Speaker 3: which off the will start at six.
- 27:31Speaker 10: Do you know when the next Live on the levees
- 27:32Speaker 10: all the time? Next Friday night, May the thirtieth. Okay, okay, yeah,
- 27:35Speaker 10: I'll see you next Friday morning.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:37Speaker 10: Absolutely not allowed to come in, yes, of course you
- 27:39Speaker 10: are on MAT's here now, I mean maybe Mack could
- 27:41Speaker 10: do my job.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Mack could do all of her jobs. Matt, let me
- 27:45Speaker 3: tell you something about Matt's been in three times this week.
- 27:48Speaker 2: I know.
- 27:48Speaker 10: Matt Sutton is happy that he gets a break for
- 27:51Speaker 10: about an hour comes, he goes back and tells the mayor.
- 27:54Speaker 3: He says that man Dave kept me for three hours today.
- 27:56Speaker 3: I just, uh, you know, and he's over here drinking
- 27:58Speaker 3: cos I know he's been in all week. And I
- 27:59Speaker 3: am dated that you got him out three times. You
- 28:01Speaker 3: can't get him out three times in a year. He
- 28:03Speaker 3: got him about three times this week. I love it, Matt.
- 28:05Speaker 10: Good to see you, David, to see you, see tonight,
- 28:07Speaker 10: see next Friday morning.
- 28:08Speaker 3: And my buddy Tony the Taylor sent me a tax
- 28:11Speaker 3: here to remind me that the Charlie West All Stars
- 28:13Speaker 3: will be playing on that Thursday, That Thursday, Yeah, on
- 28:16Speaker 3: the twenty sixth Yeah all right, Tony, Tony here, all right,

- 31:23Speaker 3: zero Aight. We had a text for Angie give them water,
- 31:26Speaker 3: and I said I would get you an answer. The
- 31:28Speaker 3: Textra wanted to know because we were telling you the
- 31:29Speaker 3: story about the Tote puppies. If you will where these
- 31:33Speaker 3: totes somebody dropped off some puppies in totes. As I said,
- 31:38Speaker 3: you know, we we give the person props for at
- 31:41Speaker 3: least trying to get them to the animal shelter, and
- 31:43Speaker 3: also for not sealing the toats, because that would have
- 31:45Speaker 3: been an entirely different story, but probably a better way
- 31:48Speaker 3: to do that. But we'll leave that alone. But somebody
- 31:51Speaker 3: wanted to know about the Texas said, has the other
- 31:56Speaker 3: puppy been spotted because one of the dogs was hit
- 31:58Speaker 3: by car and it's doing okay now and is it
- 32:00Speaker 3: old enough to be without his mama? Well, I sent
- 32:03Speaker 3: a text to Angie during the break and Angie said, yes,
- 32:06Speaker 3: it's been spotted, just not captured yet and definitely old enough.
- 32:09Speaker 3: The youngest ones from this this litter were about two
- 32:13Speaker 3: months old, so the puppy has been spotted but has
- 32:16Speaker 3: not been captured as of Yes, Matt Sutton, who does
- 32:21Speaker 3: a little bit of everything for the City of Charleston,
- 32:23Speaker 3: dog capture not one of those times? Or is it?
- 32:25Speaker 3: Is it one of those?
- 32:26Speaker 5: Actually?
- 32:27Speaker 12: Well, I leave that to my wife because we actually
- 32:29Speaker 12: she found dog a few months ago and brought it
- 32:31Speaker 12: into our house. And I walked into my house and
- 32:33Speaker 12: I said, oh, we have a third dog now and
- 32:36Speaker 12: Sergeant Bells with the Charleston Police Department was nice enough
- 32:38Speaker 12: to work with us in the Humane Association to make
- 32:43Speaker 12: sure the dog got back to its home. It wasn't
- 32:44Speaker 12: too far from its home, but just got out of
- 32:46Speaker 12: the fence and there so ish. But no, they were,
- 32:50Speaker 12: I mean, the Human Association and everyone involved that they
- 32:53Speaker 12: can help, they will and I know those are great folks.
- 32:55Speaker 5: That's good. That's good to hear. Well.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Tonight is the second night of the Criteria Downtown as
- 32:59Speaker 3: part of the US say Cycling Pro Road Nationals. Just
- 33:01Speaker 3: like last night, streets are going to shut down at
- 33:04Speaker 3: about five o'clock. And of course Ms Stewan was just
- 33:06Speaker 3: in here talking about Live on the Levee and there's
- 33:09Speaker 3: a lot of stuff going on in Charleston.
- 33:10Speaker 12: Yeah, I think this is the night we've been waiting for.
- 33:12Speaker 12: I mean, I think all the nights have been have
- 33:14Speaker 12: been great all the days and then and then last
- 33:16Speaker 12: night was phenomenal.
- 33:17Speaker 5: We had some rain, but you know, there's.
- 33:18Speaker 12: A little bit something about those races that the rain
- 33:20Speaker 12: kind of adds to it, and it was just a nice,
- 33:23Speaker 12: a nice uh environment. But tonight will be the night
- 33:25Speaker 12: I mean started at five with Live on the Levee,
- 33:28Speaker 12: Reverend Horton Heat.
- 33:29Speaker 5: You know, it's interesting.
- 33:30Speaker 12: I've been Miche our city manager is a big fan,
- 33:33Speaker 12: and he was one that kind of brought brought.
- 33:36Speaker 5: The idea to the table.
- 33:37Speaker 12: And I had heard them and I listened to them,
- 33:39Speaker 12: and I'm a I'm a little bit younger than you,
- 33:41Speaker 12: and I was interested in how you described them. I
- 33:43Speaker 12: described them for my my group of people of like
- 33:45Speaker 12: the movie Can't Hardly Wait meets bluegrass country, like it
- 33:48Speaker 12: was one of those things.
- 33:49Speaker 3: And I said, the Reverend Horton Heed is a guy,
- 33:51Speaker 3: but it's actually a group. Yeah, you got of like
- 33:53Speaker 3: Molly Hatchett. For my generation. You know, it's it's not
- 33:55Speaker 3: a guy, it's it's a it's a group, but.
- 33:57Speaker 12: It's gonna be exciting. I mean, I think you're right.
- 33:58Speaker 12: It is kind of colectic, but it is. It's an
- 34:00Speaker 12: awesome sound. And I've I've probably talked to thirty people
- 34:03Speaker 12: who've seen them live who say it's just awesome. So
- 34:05Speaker 12: excited with that, and then the race is kickoff. It's
- 34:07Speaker 12: going to I mean, listen, if I know, I know
- 34:11Speaker 12: I got it from the hockey folks, yesterday about the
- 34:14Speaker 12: describing the world class athletes for the for the cyclist.
- 34:17Speaker 12: But and if you want to see competition and its best,
- 34:20Speaker 12: if there's any part of you, whether you know cycling
- 34:22Speaker 12: or not, if there's any part of you that is
- 34:23Speaker 12: a competitive person that likes watching competition, maybe you just
- 34:26Speaker 12: turn on sports, you know, just to put it in
- 34:28Speaker 12: the background. If you like competition, Man, tonight's Downtown's place
- 34:33Speaker 12: to be, because it is just it is all the
- 34:35Speaker 12: way to the wall, complete competition. These are the world
- 34:37Speaker 12: class athletes, and they go at it and they and
- 34:40Speaker 12: they go at it for an hour and a half
- 34:41Speaker 12: a race. So it's exciting.
- 34:43Speaker 3: And again just so many different, you know, parts to this.
- 34:46Speaker 3: But we want to make sure people realize it's kind
- 34:48Speaker 3: of as I said earlier, Matt, it's kind of like
- 34:50Speaker 3: a mirror image of yesterday. As far as the timing goes.
- 34:53Speaker 3: The only difference is you're going to throw in live
- 34:55Speaker 3: on the levee, yeah tonight. But so if you're somebody
- 34:59Speaker 3: that I am convinced that a lot of people that
- 35:02Speaker 3: work Memorial Days or work Labor days going into those
- 35:07Speaker 3: long weekends, a lot of people take off early anyway
- 35:09Speaker 3: if they go in at all. There was a very little.
- 35:11Speaker 3: It was a whole lot of traffic this morning on
- 35:13Speaker 3: I sixty four, I can tell you between Tays Valley
- 35:15Speaker 3: and and Virginia Street here in Charleston. But if you
- 35:18Speaker 3: are one of those that does have to work the
- 35:19Speaker 3: whole time, just like with yesterday, we want to advise
- 35:21Speaker 3: you you either need to get out of town early
- 35:23Speaker 3: or plan on sticking around. And again you thought Thursday
- 35:27Speaker 3: night was lit, wait till tonight because you've got live
- 35:30Speaker 3: on the levee and you got all these bars. I
- 35:34Speaker 3: got to give a big shout out to the folks
- 35:35Speaker 3: at Recovery because I'm driving down Virginia Street, which, by
- 35:38Speaker 3: the way, you can do. I did it this morning,
- 35:40Speaker 3: just like I normally do. I drove down Virginia Street
- 35:42Speaker 3: this morning. And I love some of the signs that
- 35:44Speaker 3: they've got out front, and it's a big shout out
- 35:46Speaker 3: to the folks at Recovery. One of them I think
- 35:48Speaker 3: it was bike now, Beer later, you know, trying to
- 35:52Speaker 3: get some of the riders and some of the staffs
- 35:53Speaker 3: to come in. But the downtown places, I mean love this,
- 35:57Speaker 3: they love this event.
- 35:58Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean, I think it's been great. And I
- 36:00Speaker 12: think they've all joined in. The recovery signs are funny.
- 36:02Speaker 12: There's one about wings, but I can't remember what it is,
- 36:03Speaker 12: but it makes me laugh every time I walk or
- 36:05Speaker 12: drive by. Yeah, but yeah, same as tomorrow, right or
- 36:07Speaker 12: same as yesterday. So if that that Court Street to
- 36:10Speaker 12: Hall Street, from the Boulevard to Lee Street, that block
- 36:12Speaker 12: that square there, you just at five pm, by five pm,
- 36:18Speaker 12: just get your car out of there.
- 36:19Speaker 5: Don't leave downtown. Just get your car out of.
- 36:21Speaker 12: There and you'll be able to easily exit the city
- 36:24Speaker 12: after after that, you just it's a block away.
- 36:26Speaker 5: You come in, watch the races, you can, you can
- 36:27Speaker 5: go out.
- 36:28Speaker 12: All the interstates are open, the outskirts of the downtown
- 36:32Speaker 12: are available. But you know, I think last I think
- 36:34Speaker 12: last night, the hard hard closure ended up being somewhere
- 36:37Speaker 12: around five fifteen, five to twenty, and that's when the
- 36:40Speaker 12: cyclists started to warm up. But yeah, out before out
- 36:43Speaker 12: before five, if you're inside that that footprint, you know,
- 36:46Speaker 12: Court to hell Canal to Lee, you're not going to.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Be able to get out. Now.
- 36:50Speaker 12: The races tonight will probably end about nine thirty or ten,
- 36:53Speaker 12: and then then you'll be able to get out.
- 36:54Speaker 5: So it won't.
- 36:55Speaker 12: It won't take as long as last night, but that's
- 36:58Speaker 12: that square. But until then, still just the you know,
- 37:01Speaker 12: that front part of the had Ad far part of
- 37:03Speaker 12: the boulevard has blocked. Everything else downtown is good to go.
- 37:06Speaker 12: There is plenty of parking. But you've got the the
- 37:09Speaker 12: cinema garage the city owns, you've got the mall garages,
- 37:12Speaker 12: you've got the if you need to the convention Center garage,
- 37:15Speaker 12: you can still uh park, you know, sort of over
- 37:18Speaker 12: on McFarland Street into that area. There's plenty of places
- 37:21Speaker 12: to park downtown. But actually for this one, I suggest
- 37:24Speaker 12: that people get out early. But I'm also going to
- 37:27Speaker 12: suggest that people get their parking space early because I
- 37:29Speaker 12: think it's gonna be a really crowded night downtown. So
- 37:31Speaker 12: if you want to get if you want to get
- 37:33Speaker 12: in to see the concert, and I really think you do,
- 37:35Speaker 12: it's gonna be really fun. The the just the energy
- 37:38Speaker 12: in the vibe is going to be great because and
- 37:41Speaker 12: I think Jim said it too, like we're gonna they're
- 37:43Speaker 12: gonna Reverend Hord and he's gonna stop playing. We're gonna
- 37:46Speaker 12: start cycling, and they're gonna start playing live music in
- 37:48Speaker 12: the park as well, and so and it was really
- 37:50Speaker 12: fun walking the walking around the course all last night.
- 37:55Speaker 12: There were great different pockets of where people were watching.
- 37:58Speaker 12: It wasn't all in city center, but there was a
- 37:59Speaker 12: lot over on the Hail Street area, there was a
- 38:01Speaker 12: lot down the boulevard. They've done a great job down
- 38:04Speaker 12: to start finish line, and it was just as a
- 38:07Speaker 12: really fun environment even with the rain.
- 38:08Speaker 5: So tonight, tonight's gonna be even better. So I would
- 38:12Speaker 5: plan on.
- 38:12Speaker 12: As I was talking to my wife before I came
- 38:14Speaker 12: over here, because she's gonna come down, I was like,
- 38:16Speaker 12: you know, probably four thirty before forty five, get here
- 38:19Speaker 12: and get your spot so that you can get in
- 38:21Speaker 12: and make sure that you can you can walk easily
- 38:24Speaker 12: over to the boulevard and get there. And it's just
- 38:26Speaker 12: gonna this is gonna be a lot of fun. We're
- 38:27Speaker 12: really excited. I'm really excited for it. I don't I
- 38:30Speaker 12: think I know what to expect, but I'm not quite sure,
- 38:32Speaker 12: but I think it's gonna be. It's gonna be a
- 38:34Speaker 12: great evening and uh, it's really gonna showcase Charleston and all.
- 38:38Speaker 5: We have some super excit.
- 38:39Speaker 3: And of course we got graduation when I'm Connell Seeman
- 38:41Speaker 3: Convention Center. It's Hoover tonight. I think I believe that's correct.
- 38:45Speaker 3: I've got I've got notes here somewhere. I think it's
- 38:47Speaker 3: uh somewhere.
- 38:49Speaker 5: I believe that's correct.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Yeah, Hoover and and uh and I hate to say
- 38:52Speaker 3: another school, but I've got so many I got so
- 38:55Speaker 3: many notes here about everything that's going on here. But yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 3: the way we have we have graduation tract me.
- 38:59Speaker 12: It's still gonna sta tracking going on. And then do
- 39:03Speaker 12: you want to get in tomorrow or do you want
- 39:05Speaker 12: to do that in the next segment. Okay, yeah tomorrow. Yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 12: so tomorrow, tomorrow and into the weekends, so that we're
- 39:10Speaker 12: doing so tonight again, you know, Court to Hall, canall
- 39:14Speaker 12: to Lee that that square is going to be all
- 39:16Speaker 12: start at five tomorrow and then throughout the entire weekends,
- 39:19Speaker 12: so Saturday, Sunday, Monday. You know, the two things to
- 39:23Speaker 12: really keep in mind. Number one is is there going
- 39:24Speaker 12: to be two areas that are completely kind of shut
- 39:26Speaker 12: off the traffic for most of the day, probably six
- 39:29Speaker 12: am to six pm. The number one is going to
- 39:32Speaker 12: be the south Side Bridge. South Side Bridge has closed down.
- 39:34Speaker 12: There's no getting through.
- 39:35Speaker 3: It and it starts win.
- 39:36Speaker 12: It starts basically six am Saturday morning to six pm.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Make know of that south Side Bridge closes at six
- 39:43Speaker 3: am Tomorrow morning ahead Harm morning.
- 39:44Speaker 12: It'll open up about six pm Tomorrow night. But you know,
- 39:46Speaker 12: just playing on for pretty much all day Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
- 39:50Speaker 12: South Side Bridge is going to be closed. It's going
- 39:52Speaker 12: to be it's gonna be blocked off. There's no way
- 39:53Speaker 12: for us to move traffic through that during the race.
- 39:56Speaker 12: The part of the boulevard that sort of is you know,
- 39:59Speaker 12: the Court for the most of the Court Street we're
- 40:03Speaker 12: hat at is that area is going to be completely
- 40:05Speaker 12: closed off. Every place else in town, including Louden Heights Road,
- 40:08Speaker 12: Bridge Road, Warts Avenue, and all of downtown. You will
- 40:11Speaker 12: be able to maneuver through there are you will be
- 40:14Speaker 12: able to get through. We're what we call soft closures
- 40:16Speaker 12: where you might have to wait for the race to
- 40:18Speaker 12: pass through and then you'll be the police officer or
- 40:21Speaker 12: volunteer will allow you to come through at that point
- 40:23Speaker 12: in time. So if you live on Louden Heights or
- 40:26Speaker 12: if you live on Bridge Road, you're not locked in
- 40:28Speaker 12: your house Saturday, Sunday or Monday you just go to
- 40:30Speaker 12: the go to you know, go to leave your home,
- 40:33Speaker 12: and then a police officer will get you through as
- 40:34Speaker 12: soon as they can. Most wait times four to five minutes,
- 40:37Speaker 12: not a long period of time. We'll just wait for
- 40:39Speaker 12: the block to come through, make sure everything is safe,
- 40:42Speaker 12: and then you can be able to proceed on out.
- 40:44Speaker 5: Give yourself more time.
- 40:45Speaker 12: If you have to be someplace at eleven, don't leave
- 40:47Speaker 12: it ten forty five, you know, give yourself a little
- 40:49Speaker 12: more time. But no for sure, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, you're
- 40:53Speaker 12: not getting over the South Side Bridge until probably seven
- 40:55Speaker 12: o'clock each night. That that's when it's going to open up.
- 40:58Speaker 12: That's the big hard closure for the weekend as it relates.
- 41:01Speaker 5: To the races.
- 41:03Speaker 12: And I would suggest if you're going to come to town,
- 41:06Speaker 12: come to town through the Leon soullifon exit, you can
- 41:09Speaker 12: get into town through the Greenbriar Street exit, but this
- 41:11Speaker 12: will be a little take you a little bit more time.
- 41:12Speaker 12: Get into town through the Leon Sullivan exit. That's going
- 41:15Speaker 12: to be the best way if you need to get
- 41:16Speaker 12: sort of into downtown. To get downtown. But the biggest
- 41:20Speaker 12: thing to remember again, you will be able to get
- 41:23Speaker 12: out of your homes.
- 41:23Speaker 5: You will be able to get where you need to go.
- 41:26Speaker 12: It might take you an extra few minutes, but you
- 41:28Speaker 12: will not be able to get over the Southside Bridge.
- 41:31Speaker 12: That's the biggest change heading into the weekend.
- 41:34Speaker 3: But Dave Allen showing five Vedielive has brought to you
- 41:36Speaker 3: part by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds.
- 41:38Speaker 3: They're not in town this weekend. The Dirty Birds begin
- 41:41Speaker 3: a Memorial weekend seriously at Lexington tonight. Visit Dirtybirds Baseball
- 41:45Speaker 3: dot com or there's social media for more information. Now,
- 41:47Speaker 3: there's so many folks, Matt that have got watch parties
- 41:50Speaker 3: hm going on. I mean I've heard all about them
- 41:52Speaker 3: from up in the hills. I know I saw one
- 41:54Speaker 3: of the businesses and I'll give a big shot out.
- 41:56Speaker 3: I think it was Geraniums, one of the businesses up
- 41:58Speaker 3: there that has posted, hey, you know, come out and
- 42:00Speaker 3: visit us. We got a lot of stuff going on.
- 42:02Speaker 3: There's a lot of other businesses up there that are
- 42:04Speaker 3: doing the same thing there as just like the downtown businesses,
- 42:07Speaker 3: they are really really embracing this thing.
- 42:09Speaker 5: Man. Yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 12: So we've got several different areas. The I think it's
- 42:13Speaker 12: called the Bridge Road bike Bash. That's Monday. Okay, that Monday,
- 42:18Speaker 12: and I think they've got different sort of organic watch
- 42:20Speaker 12: parties going on Saturday and Sunday up there, but the
- 42:22Speaker 12: big one for them is Monday in that Bridge Road
- 42:25Speaker 12: shops area. And if you were able to go last year,
- 42:28Speaker 12: it was a lot of fun. It's going to be
- 42:29Speaker 12: a lot of fun this year. With the addition of
- 42:32Speaker 12: and I'm pretty sure we figured out because we used
- 42:34Speaker 12: the fire station, is that they'll have this video screen
- 42:36Speaker 12: that you'll be able to watch the rest of the
- 42:37Speaker 12: race where they have the things up there as well.
- 42:39Speaker 12: So that'll be a nice addition this year, so you'll
- 42:41Speaker 12: be able to view what's going on in the rest
- 42:43Speaker 12: of the rest of the route where they have cameras.
- 42:45Speaker 12: So you've got Bridge Road, You've got Wartz Avenue. They're
- 42:48Speaker 12: using the brand new park and the Merin City Council
- 42:50Speaker 12: last year redid the entire park on Warts Avenue.
- 42:53Speaker 5: They're going to be using that.
- 42:55Speaker 12: Do you know that complete community community coordination between Jim
- 42:59Speaker 12: Harris and many or they'll be there Saturday, Sunday and
- 43:02Speaker 12: Monday having a great time. You've got City Center that's
- 43:05Speaker 12: going on as well. And then you've got what State
- 43:08Speaker 12: Tourism is doing. And at the capital with Vandelia, I
- 43:11Speaker 12: believe on Saturday and Sunday that they'll have their watch
- 43:13Speaker 12: parties as well, so plenty of opportunities to go, and
- 43:17Speaker 12: you can go and enjoy the watch parties. It's free
- 43:20Speaker 12: to watch. I mean, it's not you're not people aren't
- 43:22Speaker 12: charging you. I mean obviously if you want to, you know,
- 43:24Speaker 12: do the food vendors or you want to get something
- 43:26Speaker 12: to drink, you pay for it like regularly. But you know,
- 43:28Speaker 12: just go and enjoy the enjoy the environment. I I don't.
- 43:32Speaker 12: I'm torn. And everybody has their own favorite places to
- 43:35Speaker 12: where to watch the race. A lot of people love
- 43:37Speaker 12: the bridge round. I like to start finish line. I
- 43:39Speaker 12: like the downtown part of it, uh from what I
- 43:41Speaker 12: watched last year. But it's all really fun because it's
- 43:44Speaker 12: just a lot of people together and it's just you know,
- 43:47Speaker 12: I can't tell you how I mean last night. You
- 43:50Speaker 12: know the phrases that went through of oh, you know,
- 43:52Speaker 12: I used to ride my bike and that winter. You
- 43:56Speaker 12: hear a lot of wow more cow bell police, which
- 43:58Speaker 12: is we don't need more cowboys, get me more?
- 44:00Speaker 3: What is that? What is that thing Brian Hughes has got.
- 44:03Speaker 3: I mean it's like a it's like the uzzy of
- 44:05Speaker 3: cowbells or something. I mean what it is that.
- 44:08Speaker 12: I would call it the Brian Hughes of cowbells?
- 44:11Speaker 3: Boisterous.
- 44:13Speaker 12: Okay, So if if there was a Brian Hughes version
- 44:15Speaker 12: of a cow bell, that's that's what he's got. So,
- 44:19Speaker 12: but that is it's just really exciting. People are having
- 44:21Speaker 12: a great time. And I think that a lot of
- 44:23Speaker 12: it too is it's a big educational experience, and I
- 44:28Speaker 12: think to please, if you see somebody who you knows
- 44:30Speaker 12: with a bike team, they're all willing to talk to you.
- 44:33Speaker 12: They're all willing to explain to you, like, oh, this
- 44:36Speaker 12: is what we're doing. Like there, we were sitting there
- 44:37Speaker 12: last night watching and we couldn't quite figure out where
- 44:40Speaker 12: they were in the race or what the pack was.
- 44:42Speaker 12: And there was somebody who's with a team. He's like, well,
- 44:43Speaker 12: you know they're on this lap, but they got another
- 44:45Speaker 12: thirty minutes to go. This is why this person's moving
- 44:48Speaker 12: up and back. They're thrilled to talk to you so
- 44:50Speaker 12: to educate. Yeah, if you have a question. They're very
- 44:52Speaker 12: proud of their sport and.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Also like the fact that some of the athletes are
- 44:56Speaker 3: are going to be heading to the hospitals in the
- 44:58Speaker 3: area today too. I heard about that this morning. Yeah,
- 45:00Speaker 3: I'd be visiting some sick kids while there in town.
- 45:02Speaker 5: They're just they're they're they're really great partners. They just
- 45:06Speaker 5: really are. Uh.
- 45:07Speaker 12: And we have so many and I think you know
- 45:10Speaker 12: in in in this community and we talk about it
- 45:12Speaker 12: all the time, and I sound like a broken record,
- 45:14Speaker 12: but it's the most important thing to point out.
- 45:15Speaker 2: You know.
- 45:16Speaker 12: We had a little issue yesterday where they ran out
- 45:17Speaker 12: of some material and they couldn't find any and they said, Mike,
- 45:21Speaker 12: what are we going to do?
- 45:21Speaker 5: Here was some of the protective barrier.
- 45:23Speaker 12: For the for the the road course and they needed
- 45:26Speaker 12: some kind of insulation that went in pipe so that
- 45:29Speaker 12: they can do that, and they were out of it.
- 45:31Speaker 12: They couldn't find any and within two phone calls to
- 45:34Speaker 12: moll And Plumbing, they had twice as much as they
- 45:37Speaker 12: needed to finish the thing, I mean, and.
- 45:38Speaker 5: They were just floored. They just like, how did you
- 45:39Speaker 5: all have this so fast?
- 45:41Speaker 12: What we do in West Virginia to partners, Yeah, we
- 45:43Speaker 12: have people who help and it's a phone call away.
- 45:45Speaker 12: It's not seven emails away, it's a phone call away.
- 45:47Speaker 12: And there are thirty stories like that, and but it's
- 45:51Speaker 12: really it's reciprocated back to us from them and their athletes,
- 45:54Speaker 12: and it's it's just really really been a real joy.
- 45:57Speaker 5: But man, we kick in the gear tonight and throughout
- 45:59Speaker 5: the entire weekend.
- 46:00Speaker 3: All right, Matt, all right, Matt, we got to wrap
- 46:01Speaker 3: it up. Well, I had a quick question yet for you,
- 46:06Speaker 3: and then I gotta go to break. Who maps out
- 46:08Speaker 3: the coursees the city or the cycling officials or is
- 46:10Speaker 3: it a combination of both.
- 46:11Speaker 12: The cycling officials create the map for the for the
- 46:14Speaker 12: race and then come to us and say does this
- 46:17Speaker 12: pose any problem?
- 46:17Speaker 5: Yeah, so we kind of move it around.
- 46:20Speaker 12: But they're the ones who create the race because they've
- 46:21Speaker 12: got to have a certain amount of time, they gotta
- 46:23Speaker 12: have certain amunt of distance, all that kind of stuff.
- 46:24Speaker 12: They create the track and then they say, hey, does
- 46:26Speaker 12: this work? And you know, they're very willing to tweak
- 46:29Speaker 12: things every now and then with stuff, but they're the
- 46:31Speaker 12: ones who come up with it because they need a
- 46:33Speaker 12: certain thing. Because remember, this is a national qualifying, national
- 46:36Speaker 12: championship event. This just isn't people riding bikes. People are
- 46:39Speaker 12: winning national championship and going and going to the Analympics,
- 46:42Speaker 12: So you have to have it's it's not something where
- 46:44Speaker 12: they can give on all. We can just shorten the
- 46:47Speaker 12: route a little bit. Now, they got to have a
- 46:48Speaker 12: certain distance.
- 46:49Speaker 3: Certain, all right, we gotta go a Matt, great job
- 46:51Speaker 3: you and the city and everybody and get out there
- 46:53Speaker 3: and enjoy it this weekend.
- 46:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I have some fun and it'd be great.
- 46:56Speaker 12: Just just have some fun, give yourself some time and
- 46:58Speaker 12: remember Saturday, Sunday and Monday. You're not getting over the
- 47:01Speaker 12: bridge road or I'm sorry, you're not getting over the
- 47:03Speaker 12: south Side Bridge. Just just know that and plan quarterly.
- 47:06Speaker 12: But you will be able to get out of your neighborhood.
- 47:08Speaker 3: I will get through the streets back after this and

- 49:51Speaker 3: texts here before we get out of here. Text says this,
- 49:55Speaker 3: this has nothing to do with anything we've talked about today,
- 49:56Speaker 3: but that's okay. You recall the story about the truck
- 49:59Speaker 3: driver that did a lot of damage up at the
- 50:03Speaker 3: cemetery at spring Hill Cemetery and then just kind of
- 50:05Speaker 3: unhooked his truck and left the trailer there. There was
- 50:07Speaker 3: a lot of misinformation floating around on social media, and
- 50:11Speaker 3: yesterday the name of the driver was released. His name
- 50:14Speaker 3: was Sean Copenhaber out of Saint Louis, Missouri. We we
- 50:16Speaker 3: of course reported on it, and he's in jail now
- 50:19Speaker 3: the Texas. The name of the spring Hills Cemetery truck
- 50:21Speaker 3: driver was released. Sean Copenhabor, as I said of Saint Louis,
- 50:24Speaker 3: doesn't sound like an illegal alien to me. Should we
- 50:27Speaker 3: expect a correction on social media from certain people. I'll
- 50:32Speaker 3: leave the name out, but I'm gonna go ahead and
- 50:33Speaker 3: say your answers. No Tex, says Dave. Can I just
- 50:37Speaker 3: please make one request of everyone. Please do not refer
- 50:39Speaker 3: to Memorial Day holiday or use the phrase happy Memorial Day.
- 50:43Speaker 3: It's a day of observance to remember and honor those
- 50:45Speaker 3: who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can safely

- 51:43Speaker 3: changing the rules right now. No politics on the segment today.
- 51:46Speaker 3: We are only going to talk about summertime things and
- 51:49Speaker 3: memorial things. So anything else I'm gonna have to wait
