Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_01: I think I know the answer to this.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: But this is what makes dating a little bit tougher.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: Do you ever take a woman's number with no intention of calling her or texting her?
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Um, I okay, uh not being in a situation where this would happen to me and and hasn't in forever, I would out of the politeness of the moment.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: I knew it.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I knew that was the answer.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing is I know, you know, Allie teases me or or sometimes I portray myself as, you know, the grumpy fossil, right?
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm like, but but I've always said I'm more of a realist when it comes to stuff like that.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: So if it sounds kind of grumpy, I just can't, you know, I can be positive, but I don't have to sugarcoat everything.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, a dose of reality also is kind of what's needed.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: But if you do it with a smile, people find it a little bit more endearing.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Now, the other thing that's very true about me is etiquette.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Etiquette is something that uh I I was raised in a house that it was taught not strictly like, you know, you will use your fork, your salad fork, and nothing else for your salad.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: You know, it wasn't like beaten into me, but it was manners are free, everyone should have them.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: And I think, you know, I I my there's a difference between saying no and just being pleasant in the moment.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Because I think about this.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what are you, what are you gonna say?
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: No, thank you.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: No, thank you for that phone number.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Would you like my phone number, Scott?
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Uh no, thank you.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, no, I think it's uh also a matter of like if you're talking and then, oh yeah, we can exchange phone numbers, how it just kind of like falls out of your mouth and you're like, I really don't want to, because I really don't want this to go anywhere.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: So I think that's what also And are you talking strictly relationship or are you talking possible future, I don't know, collaborations, maybe a business thing, maybe uh Oh no, I think that's it's strictly relationships, is what I'm talking about.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Because with future work collaborations, I I can get the vibe pretty quickly.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Okay, so times honestly a lot of quick a lot more quicker than relationships.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: So times have changed.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Used to be you'd get a phone number on a piece of paper, and you'd either, you know, if we didn't have a cell phone back in the day, you'd just call the person if you had the intention to do that, or whatever the case may be.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Nowadays, either I can hold my phone over yours when our contacts have exchanged, yeah, or what is it?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Well, here's the classic.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Oh, text me really quick.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: If it's for me, text me with your name so that I know it's you.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: You know how that works, because I'll forget your name.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Um I'll text you back.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: But you really have no intention of doing that.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: No, but I think just the politeness.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, are you really hanging on every moment for me to text?
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Um, I mean, who really is?
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Sometimes.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: But I also think that what it's exactly what I said that it just sometimes falls out of your mouth because it's just the it's the exact thing that you would say in the situation.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, do you want to exchange phone numbers?
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Or let's exchange phone numbers when you really are not feeling it.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: No.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: She might be like eyebrows, eyebrows, eyebrows.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: But I don't want to make I don't want to make you feel bad and be a jerk about it because if I suddenly go Oh, but you're gonna make me feel worse by ghosting me and not ever texting me, I understand.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Well, no, I'm actually just gonna block you after you walk away.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: So I don't even, you know, I won't even know.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, the guilt's off me at that point.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Right.
