Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I may have told you this. They made action figures
- 0:02Speaker 1: for that movie, like a Bruce Willis you have the
- 0:05Speaker 1: ben Affleck one? I did have the ben Affleck one
- 0:08Speaker 1: thinking it was gonna be some collector's item. Hey, everybody,
- 0:28Speaker 1: welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan,
- 0:33Speaker 1: I'm Wendy, and today we're recapping The Way Home, Episode five,
- 0:39Speaker 1: Don't Dream It's Over. If you'd like to connect with

- 0:56Speaker 2: in our show notes.
- 0:58Speaker 1: We'll just have one note before we do synopsis. Tell
- 1:01Speaker 1: me is it weird that the title of this song
- 1:04Speaker 1: is from nineteen eighty six?
- 1:06Speaker 2: Thank you for looking that up, because I did see
- 1:08Speaker 2: it as a crowded house song, and then I thought
- 1:10Speaker 2: that song wasn't popular in the nineties, but I didn't
- 1:13Speaker 2: look any further. I think it would be hard to source,
- 1:17Speaker 2: like all nineties songs, that's that's no.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Probably not here. What am I make you? A list?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Alternate titles? For episode five. Oh my god, we should
- 1:31Speaker 1: do that.
- 1:32Speaker 2: But like, honestly, this it's called Don't Dream It's over,
- 1:35Speaker 2: Like what does it have any relevance to.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Do with the uh? With the episode? I mean, oh,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I guess did first Brady Relationshipah? Well goodbye? It should
- 1:45Speaker 1: be like leave get Out? You know that song? But
- 1:49Speaker 1: I think that was the early odds. Oh is that
- 1:53Speaker 1: that could be from the late nineties. Okay, let me
- 1:59Speaker 1: get us synopsis really quickly. This episode is coming out
- 2:02Speaker 1: a couple of days late. Whndy, do you want to
- 2:04Speaker 1: tell the people why I.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Broke my ankle and I'm fully immobile right now. So
- 2:12Speaker 2: I'm sitting on my couch with my foot up and
- 2:15Speaker 2: in my makeshift podcast studio.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, the morning we were supposed to record this, I
- 2:20Speaker 1: get it Dexter Wendy and she was like, can you
- 2:22Speaker 1: come over? I fell in the garage. I fully needed
- 2:26Speaker 1: like a help a fallen and I can't get a
- 2:30Speaker 1: life alert button. I now I fully see the importance
- 2:34Speaker 1: of those things. I will never make fun of them.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I gain no I for the listeners.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I didn't have my phone with me and I had
- 2:41Speaker 2: fallen in the garage and had to crawl back into
- 2:44Speaker 2: the house and I text Megan, please come help me
- 2:49Speaker 2: all right? Episode five, Don't Dream It's Over. Kat and
- 2:53Speaker 2: Elliott chaperone the high school's back to the nineties dance.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Alice searches for a piece of her past In the
- 3:00Speaker 2: present day, Dale says goodbye to more memories as a
- 3:04Speaker 2: local landmark closes its doors. Cool, Can I just say
- 3:11Speaker 2: for a minute before we get back into the recap here,
- 3:16Speaker 2: the closing of the movie theater was quite sad because
- 3:20Speaker 2: it's happening all over the place, right and not like
- 3:26Speaker 2: my movie theater is not some like landmark that's been
- 3:29Speaker 2: there for a bazillion Well, how was it thirty years?
- 3:32Speaker 2: I think they said how long it had the roxy
- 3:35Speaker 2: had been opened. But like, it's so sad to me.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yeah, these small local businesses. Yeah, way, anyway, Well, we
- 3:44Speaker 1: open on a happy family kitchen scene. Brady's making it
- 3:48Speaker 1: for Tata. There's comfortable banter happening, and then Alice wakes up,
- 3:53Speaker 1: caes her dad there, and she's not thrilled about the
- 3:55Speaker 1: fact that he's in their kitchen. She's super not into
- 3:59Speaker 1: Brady right now, and he's charming Dell. The farm looks great,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and he wants to help out, and Dell teases him
- 4:05Speaker 1: about his manicure, but Delle doesn't have farm work to
- 4:08Speaker 1: do today because apparently she can just take the day.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I don't actually understand what work needs to be done
- 4:12Speaker 1: on this farm, and other than the high schoolers that
- 4:14Speaker 1: help out in the morning, anybody else who works there? Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 1: they don't have many farm hands, right, not that we're
- 4:20Speaker 1: aware of. But this is when we find out that
- 4:24Speaker 1: Joyce and Jude are selling the Roxy home of the
- 4:29Speaker 1: Blair Witch Project first date, and we also hear that
- 4:33Speaker 1: Nick might be flying in for the retirement party, and
- 4:35Speaker 1: this sets Alice off auto trajectory for this entire episode
- 4:38Speaker 1: that makes me incredibly uncomfortable.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Super uncomfortable. Are they going to navigate this one? I?
- 4:45Speaker 1: Well, spoiler alert, they don't have to in this episode, right.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Can't ask what Nicks up to these days? And Dell
- 4:51Speaker 1: says something about boats. He's been bouncing around from job
- 4:55Speaker 1: to job. And Brady wants Alice to hang with him,
- 4:58Speaker 1: and she has a flashback of him being super duicy
- 5:01Speaker 1: on their double date and she declines because she'd like
- 5:03Speaker 1: to study.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Okay, I want to stop you here. This is the
- 5:07Speaker 2: second time we've seen this particular scene that she was
- 5:11Speaker 2: like reminiscing about Brady as a young teenager, and it's
- 5:16Speaker 2: the scene where he makes a joke and says, do
- 5:19Speaker 2: you want to know my blood type? I'm AB super rare.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So what do you use?
- 5:24Speaker 2: This is now twice. What are we thinking? What are
- 5:27Speaker 2: we getting at here?
- 5:28Speaker 1: Yeah, there's some sort of foreshadowing that we don't know
- 5:31Speaker 1: what it's foreshadowing toward exactly. I don't know. Good noticing
- 5:37Speaker 1: the Delle kind of pokes the bear, you know, she says, Oh, well,
- 5:40Speaker 1: Elliott's her teacher and all the kids love him, and
- 5:43Speaker 1: I brace for one of many snide comments from Brady,
- 5:46Speaker 1: and he says, yeah, some people really don't stray so
- 5:49Speaker 1: far from home, and that earns him a look from Dell.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Brady invites Cat to hang, pay their respects to the
- 5:54Speaker 1: roxy holds your hand in a moment neither woman in
- 5:57Speaker 1: the kitchen really seems to love, and then Dell compliment sandwiches.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Brady tells him how nice it is to have him here,
- 6:03Speaker 1: but then brings on the Dell charm and tells him
- 6:06Speaker 1: not to rock the boat with her signature Dell smile
- 6:10Speaker 1: in other words, GTFO Brady, Yeah, I love it. And
- 6:14Speaker 1: then we get the opening title scene and we have
- 6:16Speaker 1: music this time, which is the song for Vashdi by
- 6:19Speaker 1: Molly Lennon playing Oh I didn't catch that good m
- 6:24Speaker 1: I had to zam it, Oh did you? So what
- 6:27Speaker 1: do you think? You know? Do you think Dell really
- 6:31Speaker 1: doesn't want Brady hanging around? Like it's just too much
- 6:35Speaker 1: trauma for cat, like let it go? Basically, I do
- 6:40Speaker 1: think that m hm. They pull up to Port.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Haven High School and Brady drops Alice at school and
- 6:48Speaker 2: Kat is in the front seat, and we see Alice.
- 6:51Speaker 2: She's looking at Nick's what I think is supposed to
- 6:54Speaker 2: be his Instagram and his profile reads, I paused it.
- 6:59Speaker 2: He's a boat swayin meat swai in.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I had to look it at.
- 7:06Speaker 2: It's a member of a like a deck team, like
- 7:08Speaker 2: a boat deck team anyway, And all the pictures were
- 7:12Speaker 2: like of like really nice boats and like motorcycles, so
- 7:17Speaker 2: like that's what he's into apparently these days.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And no no faces. We don't get an image of
- 7:25Speaker 1: present day Nick yet nothing.
- 7:27Speaker 2: So Alice balances and then Kat sees Elliott and she
- 7:30Speaker 2: jumps out of the car too because she wants to
- 7:33Speaker 2: talk to him, where she confronts him on keeping the
- 7:37Speaker 2: secret for so many years, and his reply, which is
- 7:41Speaker 2: the same reply I would have had, is like, after
- 7:44Speaker 2: learning that you can time travel, this is what you're
- 7:46Speaker 2: mad about, I've kept a secret for twenty years, thirty years, whatever.
- 7:51Speaker 2: So she's just really hung up on him not telling her.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I felt, what hold on a second about the time travel,
- 7:57Speaker 1: about the fact that he knew Alice in the past.
- 7:59Speaker 1: But here's the thing, how how is he gonna say,
- 8:02Speaker 1: by the way, your daughter from the future is your
- 8:04Speaker 1: current best friend, or even your daughter now is time
- 8:08Speaker 1: traveling back to sixteen year old you. It just there's
- 8:11Speaker 1: no way in which he could have had that conversation.
- 8:13Speaker 1: It had to happen the way that it did.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But they would have been like, who we're gonna call
- 8:16Speaker 2: this guy in on a fifty one fifty because he
- 8:19Speaker 2: is not well right, Yes, there's no there's no conversation
- 8:24Speaker 2: you can have, no.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Elliott, he could not have had this conversation.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I agree, Ellie explains. He wanted to tell her but
- 8:32Speaker 2: didn't know what he was dealing with. And it was
- 8:36Speaker 2: really funny because he kept going like on and on
- 8:38Speaker 2: like with all these like scientific hypothesis or whatever, and
- 8:45Speaker 2: and her response was like, oh so many sciencey words
- 8:48Speaker 2: like stops just tell me and like Layman's term, what
- 8:52Speaker 2: this means. Kat's frustrated that learning that nineties Alice was
- 8:59Speaker 2: her daughter and that present day Alice must think she's
- 9:02Speaker 2: stupid for not realizing.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It's a lot of like Kat trying to like come
- 9:07Speaker 1: to the realization of what we're dealing with here. And
- 9:11Speaker 1: Elliott is kind of throughout this entire episode, he's kind
- 9:14Speaker 1: of just the calming presence. He's like, look, both of
- 9:18Speaker 1: those people, childhood cat, adult cat, they're the same person.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Focus on the fact that you guys have something really
- 9:24Speaker 1: amazing in common. But Kat is not ready to tell
- 9:26Speaker 1: Alice that she knows. She's more fixated on the fact
- 9:30Speaker 1: that maybe she can change things or fix things with Jacob.
- 9:34Speaker 1: And here's where I get a headache, as I do
- 9:36Speaker 1: every single time a show, a movie, a book talks
- 9:38Speaker 1: about time travel, because it is a hard thing to
- 9:42Speaker 1: wrap your head around. And Elliott seems to believe in
- 9:45Speaker 1: a singular timeline theory, meaning that everything in the past
- 9:48Speaker 1: has already happened, nothing changes because she was already there,
- 9:53Speaker 1: and this is where I have a bit of a
- 9:56Speaker 1: prediction a thing I'm wondering about, and that is that
- 10:00Speaker 1: I wonder if perhaps adult Cat has some hand in
- 10:05Speaker 1: Jacob's disappearance. Yes, we talked about this while we sat
- 10:10Speaker 1: in urgent care together the other morning. I was like,
- 10:15Speaker 1: what if Cat, adult Cat took Jacob in ninety nine
- 10:21Speaker 1: and then that's how he disappeared somehow, But then how
- 10:24Speaker 1: do you explain it in present day where Jacob is.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I don't know, it's real a brain teaser. I'm hoping
- 10:32Speaker 1: that in the next five episodes. Obviously, I want enough
- 10:35Speaker 1: to be open for a second season, but I'm gonna
- 10:38Speaker 1: need a significant amount of resolution on the current storylines
- 10:41Speaker 1: to be satisfied with this season of the show. I agree.
- 10:45Speaker 1: There is a moment in the preview where Kat says,
- 10:48Speaker 1: what if we were looking in the wrong places. There's
- 10:51Speaker 1: just a lot that leads me to believe that there's
- 10:53Speaker 1: a reason why Cat can time travel, and it's not
- 10:56Speaker 1: simply so that she can view Alice time traveling.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Right next scene, we are at the point we don't
- 11:03Speaker 2: see Monica at all, but Rita Adell are getting coffee
- 11:08Speaker 2: and Byron drops in and he tells them he's happy
- 11:12Speaker 2: that they're friends again, and it was kind of funny
- 11:15Speaker 2: because they were like, oh that, oh whatever. You know,
- 11:17Speaker 2: they're a big blowout that they had last episode or
- 11:20Speaker 2: the episode before that over the boat thing, but they're like, yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 2: we're friends anyway. In this scene, Byron asks Dell out
- 11:28Speaker 2: and she says no, yep. Rita actually gives her a
- 11:32Speaker 2: hard time about it.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Yeah, she says. You know, even though I don't like Byron,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I do like you, Dell. Yeah, why doesn't Rita like Byron?
- 11:42Speaker 1: Doesn't make any sense to me. Rita's a contrarian. I
- 11:45Speaker 1: don't think she likes much. Okay.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw it, but the Hallmark
- 11:51Speaker 2: channel put out a Bingo card for the way Home
- 11:54Speaker 2: and they had a square for Rita and me. What
- 11:58Speaker 2: I did is I like, Reap posted it, but I
- 12:00Speaker 2: put Rita Rita ing.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and that put just because I was like, she's
- 12:05Speaker 1: such a nightmare. She would be, I think, a hard
- 12:09Speaker 1: person to be friends with. Oh god, I also think
- 12:12Speaker 1: this scene speaks to it. First of all, I thought
- 12:14Speaker 1: it was really interesting. Rita and Delle had clearly made up,
- 12:17Speaker 1: and I was like, here's Byron, a sixty year old
- 12:19Speaker 1: man who doesn't seem clear on how adult friendships work.
- 12:22Speaker 1: But Rita does seem like the kind of person who
- 12:24Speaker 1: shows up for the people that she genuinely cares about.
- 12:28Speaker 1: That's fair. Women walk into the Roxy and they're continuing
- 12:31Speaker 1: this conversation and about Byron, and in walk Jude and
- 12:35Speaker 1: Enjoyce mid argument because Jude is having a hard time
- 12:37Speaker 1: purging and letting things go. This is clearly going to
- 12:41Speaker 1: be a little bit of a plot point here the
- 12:43Speaker 1: number of things they've held on too, and Deell has
- 12:45Speaker 1: a mini flashback of a date with Colton at the Roxy.
- 12:49Speaker 2: The next scene, Alice asks Elliott about Nick coming to
- 12:52Speaker 2: town and he advises her not to pursue present day
- 12:57Speaker 2: Nick because he is old enough to.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Be her dad. It's illegal and just don't do it.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Like what else can he say to her? She seems so,
- 13:08Speaker 1: you know, she wants to see present day Nick because
- 13:12Speaker 1: she has a crush on him in ninety nine, but like,
- 13:15Speaker 1: I hope he comes and he's like terrible, and she'll
- 13:18Speaker 1: be like, ugh, what was I thinking? Yeah? I hate
- 13:22Speaker 1: this a lot. On the one hand, fifteen year old
- 13:25Speaker 1: Alice is in a little bit of a relationship with
- 13:27Speaker 1: this boy, and present day Alice has a chance to
- 13:32Speaker 1: see him. I get it from a fifteen year old's perspective.
- 13:35Speaker 1: From an adults perspective, it's so wrong, and I just
- 13:39Speaker 1: there's so much about it and we haven't seen the
- 13:41Speaker 1: resolution to it. But yikes, yikes, yeah, yikes's for sure.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Do you remember back in the day Dawson's Creek. Did
- 13:50Speaker 2: you watch that show?
- 13:51Speaker 1: I did? Do you remember in.
- 13:52Speaker 2: The first season, Pacey was having an affair with a
- 13:55Speaker 2: teacher vaguely like gross? Yeah, I can't even believe that
- 14:01Speaker 2: was a storyline back then. Like, I don't want it
- 14:03Speaker 2: to be a storyline in this show where this fifteen
- 14:06Speaker 2: year old is with an adult.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I mean, it's a bit of a storyline in nine
- 14:10Speaker 1: or two one. Oh also, I know, as well as
- 14:13Speaker 1: Pretty Little Liars too. Oh yeah, I just don't. I
- 14:16Speaker 1: don't like it. I don't like you. It's gross.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Spitzer and Zoe Hey, Zoe Zoey a gang. They are
- 14:23Speaker 2: hanging some school dance decor and asks Alice if she's going,
- 14:27Speaker 2: and Alice offers up an idea a theme for the
- 14:32Speaker 2: dance and it should be party like it's nineteen ninety nine,
- 14:35Speaker 2: which is really kind of cute. You know, she's so
- 14:39Speaker 2: hung up on ninety nine right now.
- 14:41Speaker 1: It's a great dance theme. But I also need to
- 14:43Speaker 1: point out that prior to that, we find out that
- 14:46Speaker 1: they've shot down the Enchantment under the Sea idea. Do
- 14:49Speaker 1: you know maybe that's a reference to I think it's
- 14:52Speaker 1: a little Mermaid, it's back to the future. Oh my god,
- 14:57Speaker 1: Megan sadly time or two brilliant. Well, I do remember
- 15:03Speaker 1: that line, and I was like, are they talking about
- 15:05Speaker 1: like what's in the pond? But En Chapman and Enter
- 15:09Speaker 1: Decys from Back to the Future, You're right, uh. Interesting.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So this suggestion lands Alice a plays on the dance
- 15:18Speaker 1: Committee and Spencer and Zoe want to set Alice up
- 15:21Speaker 1: with a date and she's like, oh, I'm seeing someone
- 15:23Speaker 1: from out of town and he won't be able to
- 15:25Speaker 1: be there. It's very much like the fake boyfriend from
- 15:27Speaker 1: Canada that people would make up exactly. But she uses
- 15:32Speaker 1: his name Nick, which I think is very interesting. That's
- 15:35Speaker 1: such a bad idea, I don't do so to the
- 15:37Speaker 1: whole time, I'm like, oh god, I know, because what
- 15:40Speaker 1: if Nick comes into the point and Spencer's there because
- 15:44Speaker 1: his mom owns a place, and the guy's like, I'm
- 15:46Speaker 1: Nick or whatever, and then Spencer's like, what Nick. We
- 15:49Speaker 1: see Kat at the roxy and she's having some flashbacks
- 15:52Speaker 1: to the teen dates that she had witnessed experienced back
- 15:57Speaker 1: in ninety nine as she's looking through boxes of movie posters.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Once she pulls out is Armageddon, which I also did
- 16:04Speaker 1: see in the movie theater. I loved that movie. I'm
- 16:06Speaker 1: not gonna lie. Uh did you know? I may have
- 16:09Speaker 1: told you this. They made action figures for that movie,
- 16:13Speaker 1: like a Bruce Willis. You have the Beneffleck one. I
- 16:16Speaker 1: did have the ben Affleck one, thinking it was gonna
- 16:18Speaker 1: be some collector's item. I ended up getting rid of it.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I don't think I've seen it since the first time
- 16:24Speaker 1: I saw it. I've seen it more than once. Maybe
- 16:27Speaker 1: I'll watch it today. While I'm laying on my couch.
- 16:29Speaker 2: While she's going through the box, she sees Jacob's missing
- 16:32Speaker 2: flyer Missing Person's flyer, which that's so sad, yes, that
- 16:38Speaker 2: they are held on to that.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Back in nineteen ninety nine, Cat emerges from the forest
- 16:42Speaker 1: to watch Jacob and Danny playing in the woods and
- 16:44Speaker 1: they're about to catch cat, but they catch a glimpse
- 16:47Speaker 1: of her and they think she's the White Witch and
- 16:48Speaker 1: they run away. You know what's good in.
- 16:51Speaker 2: The scene is that finally we don't see them like
- 16:54Speaker 2: jumping into the water, emerging from the water, and we
- 16:57Speaker 2: don't need all that, right, yeah, not anymore, No, Like
- 17:01Speaker 2: we just now ignore the fact that they're soaking wet.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Like there are enough other clues to the timeline. Exactly
- 17:11Speaker 1: exactly the boys ritten away. They leave the bike behind.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Did you notice that I didn't They left the.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Bicycle that they had there out there. And if you
- 17:20Speaker 2: remember from an earlier episode, the picture in the newspaper
- 17:24Speaker 2: was a bike.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Oh like on the ground, uh huh.
- 17:29Speaker 2: But there was also pumpkins in the picture, which you know,
- 17:32Speaker 2: indicated it was like near Halloween. But here there's no pumpkins.
- 17:36Speaker 2: So I don't know, it probably doesn't have any significance.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I thought it was interesting that they didn't grab the
- 17:42Speaker 2: bike and get on the bike and ride away. They
- 17:45Speaker 2: instead ran off.
- 17:46Speaker 1: We cut to Dell's kitchen in the present day and
- 17:48Speaker 1: she's looking at a newspaper article about the roxy, and
- 17:51Speaker 1: Alice comes home after helping with the dance committee, and
- 17:54Speaker 1: she wants to know what Dell thought of her dad
- 17:55Speaker 1: as a teenager. And Dell's very diplomatic here, She's really
- 17:58Speaker 1: trying to bright side out right now. She's telling her
- 18:01Speaker 1: to think of endings as new beginnings, and Alice slips
- 18:04Speaker 1: it right back on her and asks her that how
- 18:07Speaker 1: she feels about the closing of the roxy.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Yes, I thought this line was interesting, the ending as
- 18:15Speaker 2: a new beginning.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I don't what does Dell know? Dell knows something, I think.
- 18:23Speaker 2: She has to, Okay, she just like spits this wisdom
- 18:26Speaker 2: out and like there's no like tie to anything.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Like I think she's a time traveler too, Okay, but
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm always wrong, So who knows the next thing? Brady arrives.
- 18:38Speaker 2: He has coffee and donuts, and he wants to see Alice.
- 18:41Speaker 2: But Alice is gone already. I don't remember if she
- 18:45Speaker 2: went Did she go back to ninety ninety?
- 18:47Speaker 1: No, she went to school. Okay.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Kat and Brady decide that they're going to hang out
- 18:51Speaker 2: and they talk about Rachel and Brady Brady tells Kat, like,
- 18:56Speaker 2: you know, he misses talking to her, He misses her
- 18:59Speaker 2: as a friend. And She's really not into this like
- 19:03Speaker 2: stroll down memory Lane like good times, and.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I got to say, like, Brady, you're such a douchebag,
- 19:11Speaker 1: Like yep, it's so emotionally taxing for an ex to
- 19:14Speaker 1: come into your life where maybe his relationship's not working out,
- 19:19Speaker 1: but and now he maybe wants to get back to you.
- 19:21Speaker 2: No, dude, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
- 19:23Speaker 2: It just makes me so mad. I hate Brady.
- 19:27Speaker 1: This episode really solidified my Brady dislike he really only
- 19:31Speaker 1: cares about himself and can only see things from his perspective.
- 19:35Speaker 1: We learn in this moment. I'm not sure if we
- 19:37Speaker 1: knew this, but his girlfriend Rachel is only twenty six
- 19:40Speaker 1: years old. Yeah, and I really appreciate Kat being the
- 19:44Speaker 1: voice of reason here. She's telling him, you know, not
- 19:47Speaker 1: to get confused. Things were actually bad at the end
- 19:50Speaker 1: of their relationship. They can have a friendship without muddling
- 19:55Speaker 1: romantic feelings in there. Right. Also that school, and she's
- 19:58Speaker 1: scrolling through Instagram and.
- 20:00Speaker 2: She sees photos of Elliott handing Nick a ring and
- 20:06Speaker 2: the caption says something about like being a best man
- 20:10Speaker 2: or whatever. So now we know that Nick was Elliott's
- 20:14Speaker 2: best man, and so she runs into Elliott's office and
- 20:19Speaker 2: confronts him about it, and Elliott was like, yeah, I
- 20:22Speaker 2: like to you, I just want you to stay away
- 20:25Speaker 2: from Nick.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a bad freaking idea. He said. It
- 20:29Speaker 1: was weird in nineteen ninety nine and it's illegal now. Yes,
- 20:33Speaker 1: get it through your head, Alice, knock it off.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I was this fifteen year old. It's not going
- 20:37Speaker 2: to listen to an adult. She's just absolutely not.
- 20:40Speaker 1: She says love is love, age is but a number,
- 20:43Speaker 1: and Elliott is not here for any of that, And
- 20:45Speaker 1: we cut directly back to nineteen ninety nine, when Elliott
- 20:48Speaker 1: is saying the same thing. It is not cool for
- 20:50Speaker 1: her to be dating in nineteen ninety nine, and Elliott
- 20:54Speaker 1: is worried about what the future implications of this relationship
- 20:57Speaker 1: might be. Right.
- 20:59Speaker 2: So this is a weird transition here because like she's
- 21:03Speaker 2: having this talk with Elliott in the classroom, But then
- 21:07Speaker 2: we are to think that Alice then jumped back to
- 21:09Speaker 2: ninety nine is talking to Elliott again. She's telling Elliott like,
- 21:14Speaker 2: I just want to avoid seeing Brady because she doesn't
- 21:18Speaker 2: care for him. And young Cat comes in and she
- 21:22Speaker 2: invites Alice to dinner.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yes, she wants Alice to be there because Brady is
- 21:26Speaker 1: meeting the parents, right, and we get kind of a
- 21:30Speaker 1: parallel of dinner's happening. So we jump back to the
- 21:32Speaker 1: present day. We're in Dell's kitchen. We have dinner with
- 21:35Speaker 1: adult Brady and adult Cat and adult Dell. Alice is
- 21:38Speaker 1: not there. She'd switch them for quote Dance Committee, which
- 21:42Speaker 1: actually means she's just having dinner in nineteen ninety nine.
- 21:45Speaker 1: And in walks Elliott with a bottle of wine, and
- 21:48Speaker 1: I gotta say, I hate everything that comes next. So
- 21:52Speaker 1: Dell faine surprise that she's forgotten to mention Elliott coming
- 21:55Speaker 1: to dinner, and scene.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Now we're back to ninety nine and it's a f
- 22:00Speaker 2: family dinner and Jacob is telling Alice about seeing the
- 22:02Speaker 2: White Witch in the woods, and Colton and the family
- 22:05Speaker 2: are talking to Brady, and this is a really funny
- 22:09Speaker 2: mention that comes up. They're talking about Limp Biscuit, the
- 22:12Speaker 2: band Limp Biscuit, and and how Brady's into music and
- 22:18Speaker 2: so is Colton, and so on and so forth. And
- 22:23Speaker 2: this is a really weird exchange of conversation because Brady
- 22:27Speaker 2: tells Dell, or he tells the rest of the family
- 22:30Speaker 2: like how he had this like, uh feeling when he
- 22:35Speaker 2: came to the Landry House that it was like coming
- 22:38Speaker 2: home or it wasn't the first time there.
- 22:40Speaker 1: And she agrees to that. Yeah. Don't you see her
- 22:44Speaker 1: kind of softened to him in this moment? Uh yeah,
- 22:49Speaker 1: sort of.
- 22:49Speaker 2: But I don't think it's softening to him. I think
- 22:53Speaker 2: I feel like she is reminiscing herself because she's a
- 23:00Speaker 2: time traveler too and it was not her first time there.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Ah, that's what I think. That's a very good point.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I in this scene, notice that both Dell and Alice
- 23:10Speaker 1: because Brady is just blowing smoke of everyone's asses in
- 23:12Speaker 1: this scene, and this is the line that I, as
- 23:16Speaker 1: the viewer, was like rolling my eyes, like it feels
- 23:19Speaker 1: like coming home, Spase. I hate teenage Brady, but the
- 23:24Speaker 1: reaction that Dell and Alice had was surprising, except obviously
- 23:29Speaker 1: Alice feels that way because we know she's a time traveler.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And I like your take on that as well.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I jump back to present day dinner, Brady and Elliott
- 23:38Speaker 2: are taking jabs at each other, just sparring verbally. He
- 23:42Speaker 2: asks Brady if he.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Still thinks Lymphiscuit is the greatest band of all Time,
- 23:48Speaker 1: which this is then my next favorite line of the
- 23:51Speaker 1: entire episode. He says, well, they're better than Dave Matthews
- 23:55Speaker 1: and Ellick goes that tracks. I just love it. The
- 24:00Speaker 1: writing in this show is really good, very good. I
- 24:05Speaker 1: love that Dell bounces in this moment. She has absolutely
- 24:08Speaker 1: no interest in this dick measuring contest that these men
- 24:11Speaker 1: are engaging in at all. Yeah, and Kat has a
- 24:14Speaker 1: real bad idea and says that they should just open
- 24:16Speaker 1: a bottle of wine. And let me tell you what,
- 24:18Speaker 1: the last thing this group needs to do is to
- 24:19Speaker 1: get drunk and lose their filters even further. Right, exactly.
- 24:24Speaker 1: So Dell leaves, like you said, and she shows up
- 24:26Speaker 1: at Byron's office and basically asks him for a date. Yeah,
- 24:32Speaker 1: but this is what's interesting. She brings dinner with her.
- 24:34Speaker 1: She just had dinner. I think she took her dinner
- 24:36Speaker 1: with her. I don't know. Yes, it's she has takeout
- 24:39Speaker 1: from Wally's Chip Wagon. Oh you're right. Oh yeah, that's weird.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I wonder maybe she didn't eat I don't know, or
- 24:46Speaker 1: maybe she was just being I mean, I could eat twice.
- 24:49Speaker 1: But we learn a little bit more about Dell's attachment
- 24:51Speaker 1: to the theater, and this is not a really surprising information,
- 24:56Speaker 1: but you know, she says she doesn't know what she
- 24:58Speaker 1: would have done without port Haven, and that is a
- 25:01Speaker 1: big part of Porthhaven. It's a big part of the town.
- 25:04Speaker 1: And then she suppises everybody by inviting Byron to the
- 25:07Speaker 1: retirement party as her date.
- 25:12Speaker 2: So now we're back in ninety nine and Alice, Kat
- 25:15Speaker 2: and Brady are hanging out in Kat's bedroom, which I
- 25:18Speaker 2: don't know if I'm comfortable with that. That's a parrot anyway,
- 25:23Speaker 2: Alice is like not into it.
- 25:25Speaker 1: She she gets up to leave and as she's like
- 25:28Speaker 1: walking down the stairs, she sees Brady give Kat the
- 25:32Speaker 1: the bracelet that we saw in episode one that she
- 25:37Speaker 1: was so angry about threw into the pond. Yeah, and
- 25:42Speaker 1: it does it seem to you like it's trying to
- 25:45Speaker 1: be that Tiffany charmbracelet that was oh so popular in
- 25:48Speaker 1: the next Yes, the box is Tiffany blue. So it's
- 25:54Speaker 1: a weird vibe because there's like this like pre makeout
- 25:58Speaker 1: vibe going on, and Alice is like, me out of here,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and whether I am the future child of these people
- 26:04Speaker 1: or these are my friends not interested in being there
- 26:06Speaker 1: for that, but Alice does soften a little bit at
- 26:09Speaker 1: this moment. She does. It's kind of a sweet moment.
- 26:12Speaker 1: But yeah, you'll have not forgiven Brady in this moment,
- 26:15Speaker 1: so I see them like him. Okay, terrible. Alice leaves
- 26:19Speaker 1: and she sees Nick out front and they hang out
- 26:24Speaker 1: pops in her car, and then it cuts back to
- 26:26Speaker 1: present day. That's right, Okay, present day Elliott and Brady
- 26:29Speaker 1: and Kat are drinking wine. It's still awkward. Brady leaves
- 26:32Speaker 1: marks his territory by kissing Cat on the cheek and
- 26:35Speaker 1: Elliott shouts by Brady always a pleasure, and then Alliott
- 26:40Speaker 1: invites Kat to be his state to the high school dance.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Kat teases him, gives him a hard time about a
- 26:46Speaker 1: limo and a corsage and come on, Cat, just don't write.
- 26:49Speaker 1: He says, forget about it, but she said, of course.
- 26:51Speaker 1: She says she'll go, but Cat's still back on Jacob
- 26:56Speaker 1: in the past. She wants to know if there's anything
- 26:58Speaker 1: she can do. Can she warn him? And Elliott wisely
- 27:01Speaker 1: discourages this and tells her just to be grateful for
- 27:04Speaker 1: the gift of getting to see him again.
- 27:06Speaker 2: He is wise here, like he doesn't want don't mess
- 27:09Speaker 2: with the what's that called.
- 27:11Speaker 1: The time space continuum? That's the words I was looking for. Yes, exactly.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Back in nineteen ninety nine, we have Nick and Allison.
- 27:19Speaker 2: They're hanging out on the hood of his car looking
- 27:21Speaker 2: at the stars.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I mean, this is what.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Fifteen year olds think is romantic, so uncomfortable totally. They're
- 27:30Speaker 2: talking about the future and she assures him he's gonna
- 27:33Speaker 2: be okay, and he says he wants to call her,
- 27:36Speaker 2: but she explains that he can't and I don't know why,
- 27:42Speaker 2: Like they just see each other when she's like magically
- 27:46Speaker 2: in town. Yeah, he says, oh, elliot says, your parents
- 27:49Speaker 2: won't let you date, and she's like, yeah, it's complicated.
- 27:51Speaker 2: But come on, I guess this is pre cell phone,
- 27:55Speaker 2: so she can't really be giving him pre you big
- 28:00Speaker 2: quid at cell phone, Like not every teenager had a
- 28:02Speaker 2: cell phone or eighteen ninety nine, they existed.
- 28:04Speaker 1: But it doesn't super hold up for me that she
- 28:08Speaker 1: would not be able to give him her phone number.
- 28:11Speaker 1: He's just supposed to be like, oh, we bumped into
- 28:13Speaker 1: each other, what luck? Yeah, exactly.
- 28:16Speaker 2: So she writes a date on his hand and she says,
- 28:19Speaker 2: let's let's meet up on this date, which is this
- 28:21Speaker 2: totally random date to him, but it's the date that
- 28:24Speaker 2: the roxy closes.
- 28:26Speaker 1: By the way, another back to the future reference, because
- 28:28Speaker 1: this is how back to the future three happens. Doc
- 28:32Speaker 1: has given Marty a date to meet him. He has
- 28:36Speaker 1: brought a message that has been waiting for ninety years
- 28:39Speaker 1: at the Western Union, and that's how he knows to
- 28:42Speaker 1: go back nineteenth century. So let's go back to the
- 28:47Speaker 1: future references happening here. But also when she's writing that date,
- 28:50Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I hate this so much. Why, Okay,
- 28:53Speaker 1: she's going to be old. I'm hoping these shows and
- 28:57Speaker 1: he's like super hot for Mike for my own reasons,
- 29:01Speaker 1: but oh sure, but I don't want him to come
- 29:03Speaker 1: and have a relationship with her. No no, no, no, no, no,
- 29:06Speaker 1: no no no. So they smooch in. Then all is well,
- 29:09Speaker 1: and then fifteen year old nineteen ninety nine Alice's world.
- 29:14Speaker 1: We cut back to the farm present day, and Dell's
- 29:17Speaker 1: in the kitchen at in walks Elliott with a corsage,
- 29:19Speaker 1: looking sharp and kiss me buy sixpence none the richer
- 29:25Speaker 1: plays and it's a total She's all that moment for
- 29:27Speaker 1: me one hundred percent. It's to the tea. Yeah, she's
- 29:31Speaker 1: all that. Yeah. Kat walks down the stairs in a
- 29:34Speaker 1: red dress, stumbles at the bottom, and Elliott is not
- 29:38Speaker 1: very smooth here and says, she looks fine.
- 29:41Speaker 2: You know, you know what's funny is that she's all that.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Saras Rachel Lee Cook, who is also a familiar face
- 29:46Speaker 2: to the Hallmark channel these days. Oh yeah, good call,
- 29:49Speaker 2: and it's kind of funny. In walks bumber Brady. He says,
- 29:51Speaker 2: Kat looks stunning. He's there to say goodbye to Alice.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Cat and Brady say quickbye, and they have a little
- 29:58Speaker 1: bit of a moment about their daughters for dance, and
- 30:01Speaker 1: Brady asks if it's too late for him to be
- 30:03Speaker 1: a chaperone since it's his daughter's first dance, and Elliott
- 30:06Speaker 1: has the upper hand here, right, so he says, yeah,
- 30:09Speaker 1: don't let the door hit you, Brady. Total.
- 30:12Speaker 2: They go up to Alice's room and she's all dressed
- 30:15Speaker 2: up in her nineties outfit which men told me she
- 30:19Speaker 2: didn't really enjoy this dress.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Why it didn't feel like it gave me nineties vibes
- 30:24Speaker 1: or twenty twenty three vibes. I don't know. I guess
- 30:26Speaker 1: we've seen her in a lot of nineties costume me so, yeah,
- 30:31Speaker 1: but she did have the butterfly clips and she choke
- 30:33Speaker 1: her necklace. I thought she looked cute. Yeah. Then we
- 30:39Speaker 1: have this weird like conversation between Alice and Brady and.
- 30:45Speaker 2: She's basically like she's telling him like she's happy who
- 30:49Speaker 2: he is now as an adult.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah, She's like, you have changed from your teenagers. It's
- 30:55Speaker 1: a weird conversation. And I did not actually see the
- 30:57Speaker 1: effect of this conversation coming later in the episode. But
- 31:00Speaker 1: it's weird because he says, Oh, did your mother tell
- 31:03Speaker 1: you this? And she's like, no, she thought the world
- 31:05Speaker 1: of you. But and he tells her, you know, I
- 31:08Speaker 1: had to grow up fast when we had you because
- 31:10Speaker 1: I wanted to be the best dad ever. And they
- 31:12Speaker 1: have kind of a nice little father. We bought a
- 31:13Speaker 1: moment there.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Yeah, but don't you think like Brady's would be like,
- 31:17Speaker 2: who told you that I've changed since adulthood or since yeah,
- 31:22Speaker 2: since I was a teenager.
- 31:23Speaker 1: If it wasn't your mom, Yeah, I do think that.
- 31:26Speaker 1: But we get the answer to that, which I did
- 31:27Speaker 1: not anticipate. Okay, his guess question here, would you want
- 31:33Speaker 1: your current teenager to know you as a teenager? Like,
- 31:38Speaker 1: I don't think that's my best selling point. If my
- 31:40Speaker 1: kid could not wait any time in history, it would
- 31:42Speaker 1: not be me at fifteen years old. No, yeah, I
- 31:45Speaker 1: would agree. They would not fall in love with me
- 31:47Speaker 1: the way Alice love. Yeah, mother as a teenager.
- 31:51Speaker 2: No, if my daughter like came back to nineteen ninety one, no,
- 31:56Speaker 2: she'd be like, you're a dork.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Yeah, totally me too, perm Yeah, that's track. I don't
- 32:05Speaker 1: even want to think about that. Well. Yeah, So now
- 32:08Speaker 1: we're in present day and we're at the dance and
- 32:09Speaker 1: they are playing the worst nineties music at the dance,
- 32:13Speaker 1: like to party? Yeah? Agree. Alice asks Elliott if she's
- 32:16Speaker 1: going to see Nick, like, is Nick gonna show up?
- 32:19Speaker 2: Is he gonna come to the Roxy tonight? He her
- 32:22Speaker 2: just to have fun at the dance, to be fifteen,
- 32:26Speaker 2: enjoy your friends, do your thing now, don't worry about Nick.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Yeah, spend some time with your age appropriate friends. He's
- 32:32Speaker 1: totally And we cut back to the Roxy and they're
- 32:36Speaker 1: enjoying a slide show in the theater and Byron joins
- 32:38Speaker 1: Dell with a bottle of wine and he holds her
- 32:41Speaker 1: hand and at the worst possible time, because we get
- 32:44Speaker 1: a shot of Dell and Colton in the theater from
- 32:47Speaker 1: the past, which I kind of wonder, like, how do
- 32:49Speaker 1: we have these shots? Who was taking photos of the
- 32:50Speaker 1: movie theater of nobody takes there? Yes? Never, no, But
- 32:55Speaker 1: she pulls her hand away. Uh, And you know, Rita
- 32:58Speaker 1: made the slide show, so I knew that photo was
- 33:01Speaker 1: in there, right. I don't blame her for that. I mean,
- 33:05Speaker 1: the more important thing to me here is like nobody
- 33:08Speaker 1: was taking candid photos of these people, whether or not
- 33:11Speaker 1: even looking at the camera while they're in the theater
- 33:14Speaker 1: watching a movie. These photos don't actually exist. And we're
- 33:16Speaker 1: back at the dance and Elliott is talking with Katon
- 33:19Speaker 1: and they both worry together that Alice is gonna go
- 33:22Speaker 1: looking for Nick.
- 33:23Speaker 2: And then Katon Elliott dance. They dance like to a
- 33:28Speaker 2: fast song, like real quick, like at the end of it, yeah,
- 33:31Speaker 2: let me inarch you really quickly.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Though, because in that moment when they're worrying that
- 33:34Speaker 1: Alice is gonna go looking for Nick, Elliot's like I
- 33:37Speaker 1: can't imagine he would put together who Alice is? Excuse me?
- 33:39Speaker 1: She looks identical to how she looked when Nick knew
- 33:41Speaker 1: her in nineteen ninety nine. And if he is in
- 33:44Speaker 1: fact showing up here because he remembered that date and
- 33:47Speaker 1: not simply because his mothers have invited him, I think
- 33:51Speaker 1: he would recognize her, and it's gonna be weird. Oh
- 33:54Speaker 1: interesting thought. Okay, So I don't know if I, as
- 34:00Speaker 1: a forty seven year old woman, now do I remember
- 34:03Speaker 1: what my fifteen year old friends look like. I don't
- 34:06Speaker 1: know your fifteen year old boyfriend first love. If that
- 34:10Speaker 1: person walked up to you as a fifteen year old,
- 34:12Speaker 1: I think you would recognize him. I'd be like, whoa,
- 34:15Speaker 1: that's weird hers, but especially if he in the context
- 34:20Speaker 1: of showing up at this place that that person told
- 34:22Speaker 1: you to show up. Out of context maybe not. Oh
- 34:26Speaker 1: my god, this is gonna get weird, totally weird. Okay.
- 34:29Speaker 2: So then now is when we see Kat and Elliott.
- 34:33Speaker 2: They dance, Yes, they get on the dance floor to like,
- 34:36Speaker 2: I don't remember what song was playing, and then they
- 34:39Speaker 2: transition into a slow song, which is Iris by the
- 34:43Speaker 2: Goo Goo Dolls.
- 34:45Speaker 1: That's appropriate. I like that song Choyce here, Yeah, I
- 34:48Speaker 1: think so too. I think it's really good too.
- 34:50Speaker 2: She tells him at this point that she back in
- 34:54Speaker 2: ninety nine, her visit to ninety nine, she overheard Elliott
- 34:58Speaker 2: and Nick talking about her.
- 35:00Speaker 1: As soon as this like whole like scene is kind
- 35:03Speaker 1: of evolving between like Cat and Elliott, Brady walks in. Yeah, right,
- 35:11Speaker 1: as Elliott has told Kat she was like, you should
- 35:13Speaker 1: have come to the dances. I would have taught you.
- 35:15Speaker 1: And he was like fifteen year old and me could
- 35:17Speaker 1: not have handled a slow dance with you. And we're
- 35:20Speaker 1: how Cat doesn't know Elliott's feelings. I don't know, but
- 35:23Speaker 1: we're almost there. And then walks Brady and first of all,
- 35:26Speaker 1: who's letting an adult man into this dance? Uh huh,
- 35:29Speaker 1: good question, mm hmm.
- 35:30Speaker 2: And then he like he asks for Elliott, like by
- 35:33Speaker 2: first and last name. You do that when you don't
- 35:36Speaker 2: know what that person looks like, hmmm, don't you think so?
- 35:39Speaker 2: It just was so dumb, like he came in so hot,
- 35:42Speaker 2: like what are you gonna do?
- 35:43Speaker 1: Dude? Yeah, it was like punch him in the face
- 35:45Speaker 1: in the middle of the dance, right, and he hauls
- 35:48Speaker 1: Kat out of there. Brady's pissed because he thinks that
- 35:51Speaker 1: it was Elliott, who told Kat things about him when
- 35:54Speaker 1: he was a teenager. And by the way, even if
- 35:57Speaker 1: this were true, you do not get a vote in
- 35:59Speaker 1: who your ex wife dates. He thinks something is happening
- 36:01Speaker 1: between Kat and Ellie, insists that there is not, even
- 36:05Speaker 1: if there were, even if you're afraid Elliet is going
- 36:08Speaker 1: to turn your ex wife against you because he didn't
- 36:10Speaker 1: like you and still doesn't. Too bad, dude, too bad,
- 36:14Speaker 1: you don't get a vote. I'm mad at this guy.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Real convenient to be mad now, dude. Cat reminds him
- 36:19Speaker 1: of Rachel, and Brady blusters that Kat never told him
- 36:23Speaker 1: she was jealous of Rachel. I actually thought this was
- 36:25Speaker 1: a really good scene. Like the riding in this scene
- 36:28Speaker 1: was really good. How she was like.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Yelling at him, like about how bad their marriage had
- 36:35Speaker 2: gotten in and how like he didn't like touch her
- 36:37Speaker 2: or whatever. Right, I just think she needed Yeah, I
- 36:40Speaker 2: thought it was very good, very like emotionally charged.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Agree and she tells him it's too late, and he
- 36:48Speaker 1: kisses her anyway. He's like, are you sure about that?
- 36:51Speaker 1: He pulls her at whatever. He says like, I was like,
- 36:54Speaker 1: knew that was coming and I was just waiting, just
- 36:57Speaker 1: waiting for that door in the back to open's Elliott.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Oh I hate Brady. Yep. Sorry, This cuts to a
- 37:06Speaker 1: commercial and we come back to Cat, still in tears,
- 37:09Speaker 1: pushing Brady away and asking him what are they doing?
- 37:13Speaker 1: They got to move on? Yeah, Alice bounces from the
- 37:17Speaker 1: dance and it's really cute. Spencer's like, but we haven't
- 37:20Speaker 1: even got to the Macarena yet, which is like obviously
- 37:23Speaker 1: a nineties dance. Yep.
- 37:26Speaker 2: She heads out and she wants to go to the
- 37:28Speaker 2: closing of the roxy in the hopes that she's going
- 37:30Speaker 2: to see Nick, and so she's in the crowd out front,
- 37:36Speaker 2: and of course now Kat and Elliott are there as well.
- 37:39Speaker 2: They're kind of watching over her. Nick's moms are talking
- 37:44Speaker 2: about the memories and things changing, and especially about if
- 37:49Speaker 2: anybody could go back and make changes in time, which
- 37:53Speaker 2: is significant here, and Kat pulls out the flyer jacob'smissing
- 37:59Speaker 2: flyer and and en scene.
- 38:01Speaker 1: This is a really lovely scene to me. While Joyce
- 38:04Speaker 1: and Jude are giving their closing remarks at the end
- 38:08Speaker 1: of the party, we see Cat, we see Alice, we
- 38:11Speaker 1: see Elliott, and there's no additional dialogue from any of them,
- 38:14Speaker 1: but the acting they're doing with their faces is pretty special.
- 38:17Speaker 1: And you see Alice's disappointment in the fact that Nick's
- 38:21Speaker 1: not there, and you see Kat reacting to her daughter
- 38:24Speaker 1: being disappointed, and what must be going on with Elliott
- 38:28Speaker 1: because you know he has some affection for Alice, and
- 38:32Speaker 1: there's this big emotional scene with Cat. I think it's
- 38:35Speaker 1: a really well produced and acted scene all the way around.
- 38:40Speaker 1: You know what, I didn't watch it that closely at
- 38:42Speaker 1: the very end there. Oh, I will go back and
- 38:44Speaker 1: look at it. It's lovely. Okay. Do you have a
- 38:48Speaker 1: suggestion for Homie of the Week? For me? It's Elliott. Oh,
- 38:52Speaker 1: me too. He's just the voice of reason. He's really
- 38:56Speaker 1: there for everybody. He calls Brady on his bs mm hmm.
- 39:01Speaker 1: I loved him in this episode. Yeah, so did I.
- 39:03Speaker 2: I loved him a lot. I thought he had really
- 39:05Speaker 2: good lines. He delivered him really well. Like obviously the actor,
- 39:09Speaker 2: but the character.
- 39:10Speaker 1: As a whole I really enjoyed in this episode. Yeah.
- 39:13Speaker 1: I think my favorite scenes in this movie are between
- 39:16Speaker 1: Elliott adult Elliott and Alice. They're just their banter is
- 39:20Speaker 1: second to none. I agree, they're my favorite duo. Yay,
- 39:26Speaker 1: do you have any notice in the nineties. I mean,
- 39:28Speaker 1: there's so many in this episode we talked about a
- 39:31Speaker 1: lot of them. Yeah, I feel like they hit us
- 39:33Speaker 1: over the head in this one. Yeah, it's a lot
- 39:35Speaker 1: of music. We talked about all those songs, the Macharena,
- 39:38Speaker 1: like you mentioned, the Butterfly clips, the Armageddon. Oh yes,
- 39:44Speaker 1: what's that guy's name. They did talk about him in
- 39:47Speaker 1: that movie where he was like doctor Evil, awesome powers,
- 39:51Speaker 1: Austin Powers. That's it. We're halfway through the way home
- 39:59Speaker 1: season one one. I need more. I need more answers
- 40:03Speaker 1: than questions going forward. Yeah, I thought this was what
- 40:07Speaker 1: I would expect from an episode number five.
- 40:10Speaker 2: It's like right in the middle. It was kind of
- 40:12Speaker 2: a transition episode from like the beginning and the end.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Obviously, So I hope going forward we're gonna get more answers. Well,
- 40:22Speaker 1: you're gonna have to come back for future recaps to
- 40:24Speaker 1: find out what questions we get answered. Thanks for listening
