When we made this announcement, he was at fifty percent favorability in the polls.

We went out reminded utahns of the commitments, the promises he made five

plus years ago, and what he's actually delivered is one hundred and eighty degrees

different. He went from fifty percent down to thirty percent favorability, and by

late September he made the decision not to seek reelection. I think he saw

the writing on the wall, and we came out, you know, just

gunning. We said, look, my stated purpose for running was to primary

Mitt Romney. He had to go. We needed new representation in the state

that's not only I think, more consistent and aligned with Utah's and their values,

but also that would just represent the state better. I mean, he's

rarely here. He's got residents all over the press, and he's rarely here.

big happened. Tell everyone the endorsement you got a few days ago. Oh,

it was incredible. So a week aldg go Saturday. I'm on my

way to our state convention in Utah. We kind of have a unique system,

but we've got a convention and now we've got a primary seven weeks from

today. But I was able to get a phone call from President Trump and

he went ahead and endorsed my campaign. He said, I want to offer

you my complete and total endorsement, and I was complete. I was just

honored, honored one hundred percent to receive that endorsement of President Trump. I've

been a supporter all along, and I actually endorsed his candidacy, his campaign

last summer, the first elected official in the state of Utah to do so.

Look, we need his strength back in office, and I am looking

forward to working with President Trump. He's got to win. I believe that

he will in January twenty five, get in there day one and be able

to work with him and other senators that are America First. And that's part

senators right now that are truly in that kind of Freedom Caucus equivalent on the

I believe there's three thousand people voting, and you win the conventions nomination for

in the primary, but the state Republican Party delegates voted I believe overwhelmingly for

you. Correct they did. It was an historic win. We left with

seventy percent of the delegate votes. There's four thousand, roughly four thousand delegates

that elected across the state at their neighborhood caucuses back on March fifth. They're

elected to a two year term. They vet all the candidates. There were

ten candidates in this race, and with President Trump's endorsement coming in that morning,

had a huge, huge impact, and we were able to win seventy

percent of the delegates. That's never been done before. Nobody in an open

Senate convention has ever cleared sixty percent. Let alone received the seventy percent that

we have. And prior to twenty fifteen, we would have automatically been the
