Speaker 6: Way in on the President's speech, Steven Allen Adams of
• 2:48
Speaker 6: Auden Newspapers is here where it's right now. I will
• 2:50
Speaker 6: not ask you to weigh in on the president's speech,
• 2:52
Speaker 6: or we'll try to keep it under the Capitol Dome.
• 2:55
  Speaker 4: How's that?
• 2:56
  Speaker 7: Please?
• 2:56
  Speaker 4: Please do?
• 2:57
Speaker 8: Because I'm so like hyper focused the legislative session being
• 3:01
Speaker 8: under the Dome that I even have to like like
• 3:05
Speaker 8: give like congressional coverage over to other reporters. I just
• 3:08
Speaker 8: can't focus on what's going on in DC. I'm fully
• 3:11
Speaker 8: focused on that Golden Dome.
• 3:13
Speaker 6: And I will say this to any of our listeners
• 3:14
Speaker 6: that don't agree with anything that I say throughout the
• 3:18
Speaker 6: portion of this show, I will not have you escorted
• 3:21
Speaker 6: out like they did a certain Democratic congressman from Texas
• 3:25
  Speaker 6: last night.
• 3:25
Speaker 4: You are safe. All all types are welcome here. So
• 3:29
Speaker 4: all right, we know.
• 3:31
Speaker 6: Now that men are women and women are men or
• 3:33
Speaker 6: something like that, men or men or women or women
• 3:35
  Speaker 6: or whatever.
• 3:36
Speaker 4: On Monday, we've got that taken care of.
• 3:37
Speaker 8: Right, Yeah, And it's already moving pretty quickly through the
• 3:41
Speaker 8: House because they had their own version of that bill.
• 3:45
Speaker 8: They parked THEIRS. Senate had passed THEIRS just the other day,
• 3:50
Speaker 8: so now they're just moving the Senate version of the bill.
• 3:54
Speaker 8: That's the vehicle for that going forward. So I think
• 3:57
Speaker 8: that's on second reading today in the House. It will
• 3:59
Speaker 8: be for passage tomorrow and be one of the first
• 4:03
Speaker 8: bills on Governor Patrick Morrisey's desks, and that's one of
• 4:06
Speaker 8: his priorities for the session.
• 4:08
Speaker 6: So you know, I mean, we're not halfway yet in
• 4:11
Speaker 6: the session, right, We're not halfway.
• 4:13
Speaker 8: We're we're just about a week away from day thirty.
• 4:16
Speaker 6: From day thirty, okay, So overall overall, very very broad question,
• 4:20
Speaker 6: mister Adams, what do you make of the session so far?
• 4:23
Speaker 8: It's definitely different. It's a different session. You know, the
• 4:26
Speaker 8: House haus and new set of rules and the procedures
• 4:28
Speaker 8: for how it does its committees and moves its bills
• 4:30
Speaker 8: through those committees. It's a slower process. I know there
• 4:34
Speaker 8: was some concern about taking away the ability to the
• 4:37
Speaker 8: request of public meetings or hearings, that sort of thing,
• 4:40
Speaker 8: but I gotta tell you it works out better over there.
• 4:44
Speaker 8: They have a lot more testimony on bills. They bring
• 4:46
Speaker 8: in a lot more people pro and for against bills.
• 4:49
Speaker 8: You can now, you know, immediately upload your comments on
• 4:54
Speaker 8: a bill, so they have that as part of the record.
• 4:57
Speaker 8: It's I will tell you for reporter, it's great because
• 5:01
Speaker 8: even you get to hear from the lead sponsor of
• 5:03
Speaker 8: the bills. They have to explain why they want their bill.
• 5:07
Speaker 8: In these meetings, and that's actually helpful because normally it's
• 5:11
Speaker 8: just an attorney that explains it and they get into
• 5:13
Speaker 8: the legal leese. But that that's sometimes hard to translate
• 5:16
Speaker 8: to readers and the people out there hearing the lawmaker
• 5:20
Speaker 8: actually explained, Okay, I'm the lead sponsor of this, here's
• 5:23
Speaker 8: why I want it. Okay, perfect that that's actually helpful.
• 5:26
Speaker 8: So it's a good process. But the problem is sound.
• 5:28
Speaker 8: The downside that is fewer bills make it through. It's
• 5:32
Speaker 8: been a little slow in that regards. House Speaker Hanshaw
• 5:34
Speaker 8: prepared us for that, said that you know to expect quality,
• 5:39
Speaker 8: not quantity. So there's that. Senate seems to be normal
• 5:44
Speaker 8: as far as how many bills it's kind of pushing through.
• 5:47
Speaker 8: But of course the house set up this processor released.
• 5:50
Speaker 8: Some believe the House up this process to be the
• 5:52
Speaker 8: adults in the room and be the deliberate a body
• 5:54
Speaker 8: it normally the Senatives. Senate's been a little bit crazier,
• 5:59
Speaker 8: but definitely slow going so far in session.
• 6:04
Speaker 6: Talking to Steven Allen Adams again from Ogden Newspapers. It's
• 6:07

• 6:19
Speaker 6: So what was this thing that happened yesterday with Woefel
• 6:22
Speaker 6: out of Capel County and in regards to the governor,
• 6:25
Speaker 6: I mean Aaron boys or something like that. They hear
• 6:27
Speaker 6: that term thrown out there?
• 6:28
  Speaker 3: What wasten?
• 6:29
Speaker 4: What's up with that?
• 6:30
Speaker 8: Well, in short, he's under the impression. I'm not sure
• 6:33
Speaker 8: who told him this or where he's getting the information from,
• 6:36
Speaker 8: but he's under the impression. Of course, there's only two
• 6:38
Speaker 8: Democrats in the thirty four member state Senate, and we're talking.
• 6:41
Speaker 4: About Wolfel now sending to Mike Woffel out of Capol County.
• 6:43
Speaker 8: Yeah, the minority leader. Right, Yeah, he's under the impression
• 6:47
Speaker 8: that the Governor's office is putting pressure on Senate committee
• 6:50
Speaker 8: chairs to not even contemplate any amendments to bills offered
• 6:55
Speaker 8: by the Democratic minority, even if they're fairly innoculous. In
• 6:59
Speaker 8: the quick Exam bull allow As, he offered an amendment
• 7:01
Speaker 8: to a bill on occupational licensing reciprocity to try to
• 7:06
Speaker 8: do a carv aalphor physicians who kind of feel it's
• 7:08
Speaker 8: a little bit too broad, and what type of licenses
• 7:11
Speaker 8: that they would allow to cross into in the state
• 7:14
Speaker 8: of West Virginia for medical licenses. So he offered amendment
• 7:18
Speaker 8: on that Monday, They laid it over, came back the
• 7:21
Speaker 8: next day. Apparently instead of taking his amendment, they decided
• 7:24
Speaker 8: to do a new committee substitute incorporate much of his
• 7:28
Speaker 8: amendment into it, but point being they didn't want his
• 7:30
Speaker 8: name on an amendment. So he was upset by that
• 7:34
Speaker 8: and went to the floor yesterday and threatened to have
• 7:37
Speaker 8: all bills red and full, which it's you know, normally
• 7:41
Speaker 8: to summarize him, but its motion any member can make,
• 7:44
Speaker 8: and what it means is if you got a long
• 7:46
Speaker 8: floor session with a lot of bills that could that
• 7:50
Speaker 8: could really come up the works. So he's threatening to
• 7:53
Speaker 8: start making those motions Monday if he doesn't get some
• 7:55
Speaker 8: assurances that amendments from the Minority or at least being
• 8:00
Speaker 8: seriously contemplated and they're not being getting pressure from the
• 8:04
  Speaker 8: governor's office.
• 8:05
Speaker 6: Talk about Stephen from a media standpoint of the difference
• 8:11
Speaker 6: between a Morrissey administration and a Justice administration. I know
• 8:14
Speaker 6: one certificate of need. It was sad and I wasn't there.
• 8:18
Speaker 6: You guys are at the capitol. I'm not that that
• 8:21
Speaker 6: was one of the things that Morrisey really wanted to,
• 8:23
Speaker 6: you know, do away with. And his wife may have
• 8:25
Speaker 6: gotten involved and so on, and so I don't I've
• 8:27
Speaker 6: then also read something said that they weren't even there.
• 8:30
  Speaker 4: I don't know.
• 8:30
Speaker 6: I wasn't there, So I'm not going to comment out,
• 8:32
Speaker 6: but just overall, the difference between a Patrick Morrissey in
• 8:37
Speaker 6: the governor's mansion and a gym Justice who was not
• 8:39
Speaker 6: in the governor's mansion but was supposed to be.
• 8:41
Speaker 8: Sure, in some ways it's been better, especially for the press.
• 8:44
Speaker 8: I will say Governor Morrisey is very responsive. He answers
• 8:47
Speaker 8: all questions in press conferences, we have in person press conferences.
• 8:51
Speaker 8: He takes follow ups. I mean he he pivots when
• 8:55
Speaker 8: he has to pivot or feels he needs a pivot,
• 8:56
Speaker 8: but I mean he takes the questions. He takes some
• 8:58
Speaker 8: very critical question and his comms team are very responsive.
• 9:03
Speaker 8: If I send an email, I usually hear pardon me here,
• 9:06
Speaker 8: back very quickly, so that's nice. But Justice, of course,
• 9:10
Speaker 8: I had a reputation for not being really directly involved
• 9:12
Speaker 8: with the legislative session. He had people around for that
• 9:15
Speaker 8: on his staff, but he was kind of disengaged. To
• 9:18
Speaker 8: an extent. Morrissey is the exact opposite. He might be
• 9:22
Speaker 8: a little too engaged with the session. I think everyone
• 9:25
Speaker 8: kind of figured he'd followed the model with Joe Manchin
• 9:28
Speaker 8: and obviously be upstairs and worked because agenda across, which
• 9:32
Speaker 8: is I think what you want. But I do think
• 9:35
Speaker 8: some of the pressure that some of his staff members
• 9:37
Speaker 8: have kind of brought the bar against some members, including
• 9:40
Speaker 8: Republicans on both the House and the Senate side, on
• 9:43
Speaker 8: different things, especially the cong Repeal Bill, which may be
• 9:46
Speaker 8: coming back in some form, the Senate bill.
• 9:48
Speaker 4: The Certificate of Need for Hospitals.
• 9:50
Speaker 8: Yeah, the Senate bill is still out there. That could
• 9:53
Speaker 8: be a vehicle for that, but there may be some
• 9:55
Speaker 8: other mechanism in the works to keep pushing that. They're
• 9:58
Speaker 8: pushing too hard. It's turning off a lot of lawmakers,
• 10:02
Speaker 8: particularly Republicans on the House side, and I almost kind
• 10:06
Speaker 8: of feel like the damage has even been done because
• 10:09
Speaker 8: it's still early. Maybe they can walk along this back
• 10:12
Speaker 8: or fix some of those relationships. But I keep hearing
• 10:15
Speaker 8: that there's no love right now between at least the
• 10:20
Speaker 8: Morrissey administration, at least his staff, and particularly House Republicans.
• 10:24
Speaker 6: I was told, and I think I have mentioned this
• 10:26
Speaker 6: on the air maybe to you. I was told I
• 10:28
Speaker 6: happen to be at the Capitol before the session started.
• 10:30
Speaker 6: I was kind of helping in the background, getting Wilson
• 10:33
Speaker 6: Meadows ready to go over there, and I talked to
• 10:35
Speaker 6: one Republican lawmaker who at that time was a little
• 10:38
Speaker 6: pod and it hadn't even started yet at about the governor.
• 10:42
Speaker 6: And but I guess when I guess, Steve, when you
• 10:44
Speaker 6: go from one extreme to the other, as you said,
• 10:46
Speaker 6: when Jim Justice was governor, he had people, He had
• 10:48
Speaker 6: Brian Abraham, and he had others from the office that
• 10:50
Speaker 6: were very very engaged him not so much.
• 10:54
Speaker 4: And then Morrissey, from what.
• 10:55
Speaker 6: I'm gathering talking to you and Brad Amelia and others,
• 10:58
Speaker 6: he's kind of, you know, a complete I said, he
• 11:00
Speaker 6: wants to be more involved. And other governors have been that.
• 11:03
Speaker 6: When in the Joe Manchin comes to mind as somebody
• 11:05
Speaker 6: that was Earl Ray, somebody that was very very involved.
• 11:09
Speaker 4: I want to get your take on this before we
• 11:11
Speaker 4: let you go then where you could give us a
• 11:12
Speaker 4: preview of what's going on today.
• 11:14
Speaker 6: The other night, Steven I was I was at an
• 11:17
Speaker 6: event uh at the Capitol and uh uh.
• 11:21
Speaker 4: I was talking to a Republican.
• 11:23
Speaker 6: In the House of a Delegate's not going to mention
• 11:25
Speaker 6: the name uh for the for these purposes, he'll remain nameless.
• 11:29
Speaker 6: But he was paraphrasing here and he said, I wish
• 11:33
Speaker 6: we had more Democrats in the House because we're and
• 11:36
Speaker 6: this is a Republican talking because we're only getting one
• 11:39
Speaker 6: side of things and it doesn't make for good discussion.
• 11:45
Speaker 6: Now that again, this is a Republican saying that that
• 11:49
Speaker 6: that that he that he wished that there would have
• 11:51
Speaker 6: been more Democrats in the House because you get a
• 11:53
Speaker 6: little bit more dialogue your thoughts.
• 11:57
  Speaker 8: Yeah, Well, I mean, I I'm you know, I'm a reporter,
• 12:00
Speaker 8: but I always like to say I kind of lean
• 12:03
Speaker 8: center right. But I've always been a believer that you
• 12:06
Speaker 8: need a mixture of conservative and liberal voices. You need
• 12:10
Speaker 8: to hear both of those things, and if you're working
• 12:14
Speaker 8: together like you should be in government, you can craft
• 12:17
Speaker 8: some legislation that may not make both sides happy but
• 12:21
Speaker 8: could actually end up being really good legislation. It's hard
• 12:23
Speaker 8: to do that when you have a patent pending DAVE
• 12:27
Speaker 8: a super duper majority of Republicans. It's hard to have
• 12:32
  Speaker 8: those conversations.
• 12:33
  Speaker 3: Now.
• 12:33
Speaker 8: To some extent, we've talked about this. I think the
• 12:35
Speaker 8: caucus itself, the Republican Caucus sort of breaks off into
• 12:38
Speaker 8: its own faction. So I haven't seen that yet so far,
• 12:42
Speaker 8: predominantly the session. It may come later, it may come later,
• 12:47
Speaker 8: but yeah, you need to have those, you know, loyal
• 12:50
Speaker 8: opposition voices to provide you a different perspective on things.
• 12:55
Speaker 8: Lord knows, there's definitely Democrats on the House side that
• 12:58
Speaker 8: are willing to speak up in that sort of thing.
• 13:00
Speaker 8: But you know, it's even harder on the Senates. I again,
• 13:04
Speaker 8: only have two and they could be crosswise of each
• 13:07
Speaker 8: other sometimes on a particular bil. So you need those voices,
• 13:11
Speaker 8: and I think it would be helpful. You know, Pushkin,
• 13:15
Speaker 8: the chairman of the Democratic Party. I'm sure that they're
• 13:17
Speaker 8: already kind of working on a recruitment plan for for
• 13:20
Speaker 8: candidates next time. A lot you would think, yeah, it's
• 13:23
Speaker 8: gonna be hard it is, but you got to try
• 13:25
Speaker 8: it and you might get some of them through. And
• 13:28
Speaker 8: those voices do help, I think, at least make you
• 13:32
Speaker 8: think about things you didn't think about.
• 13:33
Speaker 6: And I will say this about the voices that the
• 13:35
Speaker 6: Democrats too have. They're pretty loud voices. And I don't
• 13:37
Speaker 6: mean that in a bad way. I mean that at all.
• 13:40
Speaker 6: So please, if you're listening, you know Kaylee young and
• 13:43
Speaker 6: flu hardy and some of the time, And that's not
• 13:45
Speaker 6: a negative thing. I'm just saying they're not the type
• 13:47
Speaker 6: that are just going to sit back and just kind
• 13:49
Speaker 6: of twittled their thumbs say well, there's really nothing we
• 13:51
Speaker 6: can do. They're gonna get in there and they're gonna fight.
• 13:54
  Speaker 4: All right.
• 13:54
Speaker 6: So today is WVU Day at the Capitol. Yesterday was Marshall.
• 13:57
Speaker 6: There was also Cannabis Day at the Capitol yesterday. I
• 14:00
Speaker 6: don't know if you tie those things in together.
• 14:02
Speaker 4: But today it's WVU day. What are you looking at today?
• 14:04
  Speaker 8: Man, I didn't nobody handed me a spliff. That's crazy.
• 14:09
Speaker 8: Today I'm kind of watching, you know, on third reading
• 14:12
Speaker 8: on the Senate side, they've got Senate Bill one point
• 14:14
Speaker 8: fifty four that's prohibiting sexual orientation instruction in public schools.
• 14:19
Speaker 8: The titles a little deceiving. What kind of what it
• 14:22
Speaker 8: does do in the interior to bill is, if you're
• 14:25
Speaker 8: a teacher and say a student either comes out to
• 14:28
Speaker 8: you as a transgender or drops their pronouns or or
• 14:33
Speaker 8: anything along those lines, the teacher would be required to
• 14:37
Speaker 8: inform an administrator at a school who wouldn't inform a parent.
• 14:41
Speaker 8: So that one has been a little contentious on on
• 14:44
Speaker 8: the Senate side. Even some Senate Republicans have tried to
• 14:48
Speaker 8: at least moderate that a little bit. But I think
• 14:52
Speaker 8: it's going to come through, probably by a pretty substantial
• 14:56
  Speaker 8: majority later today.
• 14:57
Speaker 6: All right, I mean to get to a quick texture
• 14:59
Speaker 6: before you let go of says the SDM super duper
• 15:02
Speaker 6: majority don't want opposing view opposing viewpoints. They can do
• 15:06
Speaker 6: no wrong. I think that was tongue in cheek, but
• 15:10
  Speaker 6: go ahead.
• 15:10
  Speaker 8: Yeah, well, I mean here's the thing. I mean, there's
• 15:12
Speaker 8: not even solid agreement if within their own caucuses. The
• 15:15
Speaker 8: senate's a good example of this, where you still have
• 15:18
Speaker 8: what would normally be considered regular conservatives, but they're now
• 15:23
Speaker 8: the moderates, and the people that are running the Senate
• 15:26
Speaker 8: are particularly the committees are way further to the right
• 15:30
Speaker 8: than the people that were running it just last year,
• 15:36
Speaker 8: and as a result, there are some headbutting that goes
• 15:40
Speaker 8: on in that caucus, and they're a good example. We
• 15:43
Speaker 8: haven't seen a whole lot on the House side on
• 15:45
Speaker 8: that because, honestly, I think a lot of their new
• 15:47
Speaker 8: structure has kind of taken a lot of It's almost
• 15:49
Speaker 8: like a steam release in a way. It's keeping them
• 15:52
Speaker 8: from being really upset with each other. But it's, like
• 15:54
Speaker 8: you said, it's going to come the closer we get
• 15:56
Speaker 8: to the end of the second.
• 15:57
Speaker 6: Remind people where people can watch you or view you
• 16:01

• 16:08

Speaker 6: Today, I want to knock out a couple of texts
• 19:20
Speaker 6: because I asked people to text in what they thought
• 19:22
Speaker 6: of the President's speech last night. Then I'm going to
• 19:24
Speaker 6: talk about this telethon that's going on in southern West
• 19:26
Speaker 6: Virginia for flood victims. Text says, remember the decorum portrayed
• 19:30
Speaker 6: by the two Howler monkeys, Lauren Bobert and Marjorie Taylor
• 19:34
Speaker 6: Green when they yelled at Joe Biden during his address
• 19:37
Speaker 6: to Congress. Then Joe Biden just went on giving his
• 19:40
Speaker 6: address to Congress because Joe Biden isn't a fragile, soft
• 19:43
Speaker 6: sissy like Donald Trump.
• 19:46
  Speaker 4: It's a Texter.
• 19:47
Speaker 6: Textas says yesterday in the Health Committee, Tom Tacuba offered
• 19:50
Speaker 6: multiple amendments to a bill, and his fellow Republicans shot
• 19:53
Speaker 6: down every single one of them. The twenty twenty five
• 19:55
Speaker 6: Senate is much more conservative than Takubo, and the Old
• 19:59
Speaker 6: Guard leadership is being and the Old Guard is being
• 20:03
Speaker 6: punished hard. Why because they were so heavy handed when
• 20:06
Speaker 6: they had the numbers. Now they have to pay for
• 20:09
Speaker 6: what they did, says tax Textas says, if your kid
• 20:13
Speaker 6: won't tell you why they want to change their pronoun
• 20:16
Speaker 6: or how they identify, you're likely a terrible parent. As
• 20:19
Speaker 6: a Texter, Texas, I wish Trump would have called out
• 20:26
Speaker 6: the Democrats for not applauding the thirteen year old. Yeah,
• 20:33
Speaker 6: you know, the Senates or I'm sorry. The Democrats did
• 20:36
Speaker 6: a lot of setting last night, and there's a lot
• 20:39
Speaker 6: of people upset about the fact that they that they
• 20:41
Speaker 6: had a thirteen year old cancer survivor and did not
• 20:45
Speaker 6: get the proper respect. According to a lot of people
• 20:49
  Speaker 6: from the Democrats.
• 20:51
  Speaker 4: Going on the.
• 20:52
Speaker 6: Texta says he should have said, you hate me so
• 20:54
Speaker 6: much you refuse to cheer a cancer surviving child. Texas
• 20:59
Speaker 6: out Green was asked several times to take his seat.
• 21:02
Speaker 6: This is a congressman from Texas. He brought the booting
• 21:05
Speaker 6: on himself. Tex says I loved how Folcahannas reference to
• 21:10
Speaker 6: Elizabeth Warren became so triggered that she was shaking lol.
• 21:15
Speaker 6: Tex says, I love Trump's speech. I love the list
• 21:16
Speaker 6: of all the Doge findings of where our money was wasted.
• 21:19
Speaker 6: I just wish he'd have called out the Democrats for
• 21:21
Speaker 6: not applauding the thirteen year old as a Texter. All right,
• 21:25
Speaker 6: so we've all seen the devastation and the flooding in
• 21:28
Speaker 6: southern West Virginia. This Saturday night, there's going to be
• 21:30
Speaker 6: a telethon Aaron to try to help out a lot
• 21:33
Speaker 6: of folks down there, and it's going to feature some
• 21:35
Speaker 6: names that you probably heard of. Joining me now a
• 21:37
Speaker 6: couple of guys that are behind putting this thing together.
• 21:40
Speaker 6: Actor Kevin Sizemore, native of Princeton, West Virginia. Kevin, good morning,
• 21:43
Speaker 6: welcome to the show.
• 21:45
Speaker 3: Hey there, good morning. How why are you, Bud?
• 21:47
  Speaker 4: I'm fine?
• 21:47
Speaker 6: And Burke Allen you know Burke by now he's my
• 21:50
Speaker 6: semi manager slash agent advisor, gets my drinks for me
• 21:55
Speaker 6: when we're on the road somewhere.
• 21:57
Speaker 4: Burke and good morning, welcome to the show.
• 21:58
Speaker 7: To you too, sir, Chief bottle last year and happy
• 22:01
Speaker 7: to be here, thanks Stave.
• 22:03
Speaker 6: So one of the great things about I, like you know,
• 22:05
Speaker 6: in dealing with these folks that are putting together this telethon,
• 22:07
Speaker 6: is that both Burke and and Tom are Tom I'm sorry,
• 22:11
Speaker 6: Kevin are are proud West Virginia natives and believe in
• 22:16
Speaker 6: giving back. Burke, let me start with you as a
• 22:19
Speaker 6: southern West Virginia, well actually Kevin is too, but as
• 22:21
Speaker 6: a Southern West Virginia you and I have certainly seen
• 22:23
  Speaker 6: a whole lot.
• 22:23
Speaker 4: Of this over the years.
• 22:25
Speaker 6: And you were one of the folks, you and some
• 22:27
Speaker 6: others that put together at Telethon but following the floods
• 22:29
Speaker 6: in this area and in Greenboro County back in at
• 22:32
  Speaker 6: twenty sixteen.
• 22:34
Speaker 7: Yeah, so we you know, we did that in twenty sixteen,
• 22:37
Speaker 7: and our buddy land Dallia G. Murphy Junior was instrumental
• 22:40
Speaker 7: in that as well. And in two hours time we
• 22:43
Speaker 7: put together four days. We raised in two hours three
• 22:46
Speaker 7: hundred and forty thousand dollars to go to folks there
• 22:49
Speaker 7: in eastern Knoac County and Greenbero County. And then this
• 22:54
Speaker 7: one happened Valentine's Day weekend. And you know, Kevin live
• 22:58
Speaker 7: is Los Angeles, now I'm based in the See and
• 23:01
Speaker 7: we saw this these Facebook feeds, but there was no
• 23:04
Speaker 7: national coverage of how awful that flooding was across a
• 23:08
Speaker 7: thirteen county squat down there, and you know, eastern Kentucky,
• 23:12
Speaker 7: West Virginia, even in parts of southern Virginia, and you know,
• 23:16
Speaker 7: we just kept seeing it and we couldn't not jump
• 23:19
Speaker 7: into help. And I will tell you the telethon is
• 23:23
Speaker 7: going to be aired all over the state of West Virginia.
• 23:25
Speaker 7: It's also going to stream online, and you guys in
• 23:28
Speaker 7: West Virginia Media Corporation were going to stream it on
• 23:30
Speaker 7: your websites too. So this is something where we can
• 23:34
Speaker 7: all come together. I heard your show earlier talking about
• 23:37
Speaker 7: the division. This this is something completely different. This is
• 23:40
Speaker 7: where West Virginians come together to help West Virginia and extracize.
• 23:44
Speaker 6: Well, let me ask you, as a as a West Virginian,
• 23:47
Speaker 6: as Burke said, now, you know making it big out
• 23:50
  Speaker 6: in Hollywood, why.
• 23:51
Speaker 4: Is it important for you to give back?
• 23:54
Speaker 3: Well, this is my hometown, this is my home state.
• 23:57
Speaker 3: This is the people that I grew up with. These
• 23:59
Speaker 3: are the people that my family, my grandparents said. You know,
• 24:03
Speaker 3: it's all extended family. When you when everyone says West Virginia,
• 24:06
Speaker 3: it's not just West Virginia, it's West Virginia. It's Virginia,
• 24:09
  Speaker 3: it's Kentucky, it's Caroline Is it's it's that area that
• 24:12
Speaker 3: we call home. It's it's you know, where I got
• 24:15
Speaker 3: my roots, and I want to make sure that if
• 24:18
Speaker 3: I can do anything, I want to try to do something.
• 24:21
Speaker 3: And by being in Los Angeles, you know, Burke and
• 24:25
Speaker 3: I were talking about a week and a half or
• 24:26
Speaker 3: so ago and we're just well, what can we do?
• 24:30
Speaker 3: And just like Burke said before, you know, when we
• 24:32
Speaker 3: came back and it did the telethon whatever like twenty sixteen,
• 24:37
Speaker 3: it was it was a huge success. And we're just
• 24:40
Speaker 3: hoping that we can capitalize on what we did in
• 24:42
Speaker 3: twenty sixteen and hopefully even do better to help people out.
• 24:46
Speaker 4: Burke, who well's going to be taking part in this.
• 24:48
Speaker 4: So what's the entertainment like?
• 24:51
Speaker 7: Well, so let me say this first of all, because
• 24:53
Speaker 7: it's just a really cool thing. Homer Hickham is going
• 24:56
Speaker 7: to come up. He's driving up from Huntsville, Alabama, the
• 24:59
Speaker 7: Rocketson in USA where he worked in obset. He's going
• 25:02
Speaker 7: to be one of our costs, which was really cool.
• 25:04
Speaker 7: You know, Hober grew up in mcdallatown in West Virginia,
• 25:07
Speaker 7: so that's you know, close to home Colewood, which was
• 25:10
Speaker 7: make paymous and Octor the sky this got washed away
• 25:13
Speaker 7: and hammered so Hober's going to come up and join us.
• 25:16
Speaker 7: Landau will be there, and we have a mix of
• 25:18
Speaker 7: folks who are going to be in the TV studio
• 25:20
Speaker 7: down there at Bluefield, and also we're beaming in from
• 25:23
Speaker 7: all over the place, from the Grand Old Opry Broub, Hollywood,
• 25:26
Speaker 7: from Las Vegas, so it's gonna be huge. Charles Wesley Godwin,
• 25:30
Speaker 7: a great West Virginia artist, is going to participate too.
• 25:32
Speaker 7: So it's a long list. And I should give you
• 25:36
Speaker 7: the website by the way, it's two Virginians, One Mission
• 25:39
Speaker 7: dot com. If you want to make a donation, Two
• 25:41
Speaker 7: Virginia's One Mission dot com.
• 25:44
Speaker 6: And I would imagine guys putting this together, as you said,
• 25:46
Speaker 6: in such a short amount of time. He did it
• 25:48
Speaker 6: back in twenty sixteen, so now you're a veteran at it.
• 25:51
Speaker 6: But I would imagine, I mean, I Burke you and
• 25:53
Speaker 6: I talked I think at the end of last week,
• 25:55
Speaker 6: and you just had this idea and now it's going
• 25:57
Speaker 6: to happen this week. It does take a lot to
• 25:59
Speaker 6: pull this off in a short amount of time.
• 26:02
Speaker 7: Well, so Keviny, I think right after this call, you're
• 26:05
Speaker 7: doing a zoom call with a bunch of schools that
• 26:07
Speaker 7: are going to participate. How's that work, Kevin.
• 26:09
Speaker 3: Well, I'm literally they're looking at me right now as
• 26:12
Speaker 3: I'm on the zoom call. I'm talking. I'm literally on
• 26:17
Speaker 3: with Bluefield and Princeton and Pike View and Tazzle and
• 26:20
Speaker 3: we're hitting all of these schools as we speak right now.
• 26:22
Speaker 3: But I wanted to make sure I got this radio
• 26:25
Speaker 3: interview in before I end up getting on this because
• 26:27
Speaker 3: we're doing a lot of stuff, and like Burke said,
• 26:30
Speaker 3: you know, Charity and Joshua Bolden over WBZA have gone
• 26:34
Speaker 3: out of their way to accommodate us like they did
• 26:38
Speaker 3: in twenty sixteen, and we just can't be more grateful
• 26:41
Speaker 3: for all the people that are supporting us. We have
• 26:44
Speaker 3: a lot of people that jumped on board last minute,
• 26:46
Speaker 3: like he just said, from all over. Even t Graham
• 26:49
Speaker 3: Brown is going to be doing a song from us
• 26:52
Speaker 3: from the Grand O' Lotpry and it's really cool.
• 26:56
Speaker 6: We're very fortunate, and I love the fact that you've
• 26:58
Speaker 6: got these people, Burke, that are, as you said, beaming
• 27:01
Speaker 6: in from Nashville and all these other places, just like
• 27:04
Speaker 6: you had back in twenty sixteen. All Right, the website
• 27:07
Speaker 6: is two Virginia's One Mission dot com And what time
• 27:10
Speaker 6: does everything start work? On Saturday night?
• 27:14
Speaker 7: So the show goes live on the air at six
• 27:16
Speaker 7: o'clock Eastern. Who goes to nine o'clock? People can watch online,
• 27:21
Speaker 7: they can watch on TV stations all over the state
• 27:24
Speaker 7: of West Virginia too, and listen on radio. And thank
• 27:27
Speaker 7: you to West Virginia Broadcast Association. This is where Dave
• 27:31
Speaker 7: and We'll flup you up a little bit. This is
• 27:33
Speaker 7: where local broadcasters really jump in there and get things done.
• 27:37
Speaker 7: We hear so many people sling mud at the media
• 27:41
Speaker 7: these days, but local radio stations, local TV stations, this
• 27:45
Speaker 7: is when you guys really shine. You come to help
• 27:48
Speaker 7: people out, and we.
• 27:49
Speaker 6: Thank you for that, all right, real quick, because I
• 27:52
Speaker 6: know the mister Seismore's got to go talk to the
• 27:54
  Speaker 6: young ands there.
• 27:54
Speaker 4: We don't want them eating the paste or anything, you know.
• 27:56
Speaker 4: While we're waiting on.
• 27:57
Speaker 6: Him to get on there. It's two for with an
• 28:00
Speaker 6: asset that in two Virginia's One Mission dot Com. I
• 28:02
Speaker 6: have not checked out the website yet, Burt, but I
• 28:04
Speaker 6: presume that there is a link where people can make
• 28:07
Speaker 6: their donations on that website.
• 28:09
Speaker 7: That's right, you did get right to it and the
• 28:12
Speaker 7: money will go right there to the folks that need
• 28:14
Speaker 7: it most and hear the Appalachians, and so thank you
• 28:17
Speaker 7: all for listening. And if you can give whatever you can,
• 28:20
Speaker 7: and if you can't give, the join us and that
• 28:24
Speaker 7: will help us to say thank you to the hundreds
• 28:26

Speaker 6: just say this about Greg, and I don't want to

Speaker 6: give too much way. Greg's a little upset with some

Speaker 6: Republicans right now. Should make for good radio. So that's

Speaker 6: social media, and I appreciate that. My Facebook page Dave Allen,
• 34:06
Speaker 6: It's just Dave alland Desh Radio. For some reason, mister
• 34:09
Speaker 6: Zuckerberg has decided that I share too much on the
• 34:13
Speaker 6: radio page and I've been cut off. They think I'm
• 34:18
Speaker 6: spam or something spam anyway, the Dave Allen Radio Facebook
• 34:25
Speaker 6: account apparently has been suspended due to over sharing, they say,
• 34:30
Speaker 6: and what I do on the show is on the
• 34:33
Speaker 6: page is basically I share things about this show. I
• 34:36
Speaker 6: share things from all of our stations. We have a
• 34:38
Speaker 6: lot of stations here in the building. I share that stuff,
• 34:40
Speaker 6: stuff about WVU, Marshall sports, the Reds, the Dirty Birds,
• 34:46
Speaker 6: city of Charleston, stuff can on County, you know, just
• 34:48
Speaker 6: stuff that I think pertains to the region people may
• 34:52
Speaker 6: want to read. And apparently they saith I share too much.
• 34:56
Speaker 6: So the Dave Allen Radio Facebook page has been suspended.
• 35:01
  Speaker 4: I will say I am on X.
• 35:03
Speaker 6: I'm not a big fan of X, the artists normally
• 35:05
Speaker 6: known as Twitter, but I am on there and they
• 35:07
Speaker 6: don't limit things like that. So if you want to
• 35:08
Speaker 6: follow me on X, it's at Dave A seventy.
• 35:12
Speaker 4: So let me tell you what.
• 35:15
Speaker 6: Let me knock out some texts and then I'll give
• 35:16
Speaker 6: my opinions because I'm more interested in what you have
• 35:18
Speaker 6: to think than what I think. Text says, going back
• 35:21
Speaker 6: to yesterday's show, great closing remarks, Well, thank you. I
• 35:23
Speaker 6: appreciate that. And by the way, cheap plug. If you
• 35:26
Speaker 6: want to listen to any of the shows, you can
• 35:28
Speaker 6: check them out. Not on Dave Island Radio, but you
• 35:30
Speaker 6: can go to the WCCHS network Facebook page, you can
• 35:33
Speaker 6: go to the WHS page on x you can go
• 35:36
Speaker 6: to WCHS network dot com YouTube. There's a variety of places.
• 35:40
Speaker 6: But I do appreciate the texture of saying that. Okay,
• 35:44
Speaker 6: text says Trump used as a brave, strong, young cancer
• 35:47
Speaker 6: survivor as a prop despite cutting billions and funding for
• 35:51
Speaker 6: cancer research, we applaud the young man. You can also
• 35:55
Speaker 6: oppose the heartless actions of a carnival barker, says a Texter. Yeah,
• 35:59
Speaker 6: I alluded to this earlier. I thought it was you look,
• 36:03
Speaker 6: if you don't like President Trump, and I'm not the
• 36:05
Speaker 6: biggest Trump fan in the world, okay.
• 36:07
Speaker 4: But when they had a young man.
• 36:12
Speaker 6: Who's a cancer survivor, and I agree with what one
• 36:15
Speaker 6: of the other textures said, you can't put your hatred
• 36:18
Speaker 6: for one man aside long enough to applaud this young
• 36:20
Speaker 6: man for going through more than what a lot of
• 36:22
Speaker 6: these people will ever face in four lifetimes. I mean,
• 36:25
Speaker 6: that was pretty shallow and a lot of crap. I'll
• 36:28
Speaker 6: be honest with you about that. Let me see Texas, Dave. Wow,
• 36:32
Speaker 6: President Trump had the best speech I've ever heard in
• 36:34
Speaker 6: my lifetime. Democrats so sad and predictable in their ridiculous behavior.
• 36:39
Speaker 6: Thank god President Trump is in the White House, Texas.
• 36:45
Speaker 6: It was shameful when the Democrats didn't share a thirteen
• 36:48
Speaker 6: year old that had brain cancer and are less than human.
• 36:51
Speaker 6: The Democratic Party is done in this state and in
• 36:54
Speaker 6: this nation. I don't know whether it's done in this state,
• 36:57
Speaker 6: I think or in the nation. I think that I
• 37:01
Speaker 6: think that maybe the old way of doing business has changed,
• 37:05
Speaker 6: and in the election, I think proved that. Text to Dave,
• 37:11
Speaker 6: remember when Trump made fron of crippled children. Where was
• 37:16
  Speaker 6: the outrage.
• 37:17
Speaker 4: There wasn't any. Texas.
• 37:19
Speaker 6: Trump said thirty thousand people were killed building the Panama Canal.
• 37:22
Speaker 6: Where is he getting this crap from? Yeah, you can
• 37:26
Speaker 6: look up some fact checking on the president's speech. Last night,
• 37:29
Speaker 6: I saw a former member of the legislature here in
• 37:32
Speaker 6: West Virginia now living out of state, who made a
• 37:34
Speaker 6: comment that a fact checker died of a heart attack
• 37:37
Speaker 6: from overwork. On the speech last night. There was a
• 37:39
Speaker 6: lot of bending the truth on a lot of things.
• 37:43
  Speaker 4: Tex said.
• 37:44
Speaker 6: The only thing that's gone down to the Trump is
• 37:46
Speaker 6: a stock market. He didn't mention that text says no,
• 37:52
Speaker 6: how many no's do I have here? No? No, no, no,
• 37:55
Speaker 6: no no. You can't say you applaud the young man,
• 37:58
Speaker 6: but don't applaud Trump. You literally sat there on your
• 38:01
Speaker 6: hands and it was beamed around the world. The world
• 38:04
Speaker 6: saw what the Democrats did. It won't be forgotten as
• 38:07
Speaker 6: a texture. I agree with that statement. Republican says, a
• 38:15
Speaker 6: texture had this country soaring like the Hindenburg Dave, I
• 38:20
Speaker 6: believe you're what's called terminally online. No, I'm not terminally online. No,
• 38:24
Speaker 6: I just have I like to share information, you know
• 38:27
Speaker 6: about things. I'm not terminally online. Probably be better off
• 38:33
Speaker 6: if I weren't. Let me see, Okay.
• 38:36
Speaker 4: Read that one. I appreciate textures.
• 38:38
Speaker 6: I don't need to text me the same thing like
• 38:39
Speaker 6: three times, though I do appreciate it. Though Texas, I
• 38:43
Speaker 6: think Doge needs to look into the cost of running
• 38:46
Speaker 6: the West Virginia Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse talk about fraud
• 38:49
Speaker 6: and waste. Amazing what people actually get paid to do.
• 38:52
  Speaker 3: Well.
• 38:52
Speaker 6: I'll take that up with Greg Thomas on the show tomorrow.
• 38:55
Speaker 6: So on to the President's speech last night. It was
• 38:57
Speaker 6: one hundred minutes longest I think I read longest one
• 39:01
Speaker 6: of that type in history. Not a State of the Union,
• 39:03
Speaker 6: but rather it was an address to joint sessions of Congress.
• 39:09
Speaker 6: And for the ones who showed up are the ones
• 39:11
Speaker 6: who didn't get kicked out. He of course praised the
• 39:14
Speaker 6: actions of Doge and said that his first month in
• 39:17
Speaker 6: office was the most successful first month in history. He
• 39:21
Speaker 6: is doubling down on the tariff issue and alluded to
• 39:24
Speaker 6: the fact that Americans may suffer a little, but not
• 39:28
Speaker 6: much well. According to the Yale Budget lab the tariffs
• 39:34
Speaker 6: could cost the average household up to two thousand dollars
• 39:38
Speaker 6: annually the price of a new car. According to these
• 39:43
Speaker 6: folks who study this stuff, the price of a new
• 39:45
Speaker 6: car is expected to go up around three thousand dollars
• 39:49
Speaker 6: because of the terriffs. That is according to JP Morgan research.
• 39:55
Speaker 6: He seemed the president did to blame former President Biden
• 39:59
Speaker 6: for and this is a quote, letting the price of
• 40:01
Speaker 6: eggs get out of control in quote, Now we can
• 40:04
Speaker 6: fact check that a little. The price did soar under
• 40:08
Speaker 6: former President Biden, and they're going to even higher under
• 40:14
Speaker 6: President Trump. But the experts, see what I did there,
• 40:17
Speaker 6: Experts say it's because of the bird flew, which has
• 40:21
Speaker 6: led to the deaths of one hundred and thirty six
• 40:23
Speaker 6: million birds since twenty twenty two. Not so much in
• 40:29
Speaker 6: my opinion, on the watch of Biden or Trump. But
• 40:34
Speaker 6: there's enough fact checking for the moment. Simply google it
• 40:37
Speaker 6: for yourself. Now, a few moments in the speech, representative
• 40:40
Speaker 6: and we've talked about it on the show, Representative al Green, No,
• 40:43
Speaker 6: not that Al Green, this is a representative out of
• 40:47
Speaker 6: Texas was evicted from the House Chamber. The President had
• 40:51
Speaker 6: just referenced the election, calling it a mandate. Al Green
• 40:55
Speaker 6: then stood up waving his cane, saying, quote, you have
• 40:57
Speaker 6: no mandate to cut medicaid. He was shown the door.
• 41:03
Speaker 6: And you know, I don't know what was more embarrassing
• 41:06
Speaker 6: last night watching for the first time ever a representative
• 41:09
Speaker 6: of being kicked out or other members channing USA USA
• 41:16
Speaker 6: like they were watching Ivan Colaff wrestling Dusty Rhodes on
• 41:19
Speaker 6: Georgia Championship Wrestling in nineteen eighty two. Afterwards, Al Green,
• 41:25
Speaker 6: who serves as I said out of the Houston area,
• 41:27
Speaker 6: said quote, there are times when it's better to stand
• 41:30
Speaker 6: alone than not to stand at all. I mean, you know,
• 41:35
Speaker 6: I come away with this question, as I do every
• 41:37
Speaker 6: time I watch something like this, what are we becoming
• 41:40
Speaker 6: as a country. It's like the country has become one
• 41:42
Speaker 6: giant Jerry Springer episode. But that's exactly what the president
• 41:47
Speaker 6: thrives on. And I'm not just saying this to hate
• 41:49
Speaker 6: on Trump. I mean the whole body was embarrassing, from
• 41:54
Speaker 6: not cheering and applauding the cancer kid to channing USA,
• 41:58
Speaker 6: to having one person being three own out and just
• 42:02
Speaker 6: like the exchange with Zelensky last week, and like so
• 42:05
Speaker 6: many other things going on in Washington and in some
• 42:07
Speaker 6: cases now trickling down to Charleston, it's it's sad. And
• 42:12
Speaker 6: we had Democrats holding up signs saying false and save Medicaid,
• 42:16
Speaker 6: musk steals, etc. I asked the question again, what has
• 42:19
Speaker 6: happened to our country? This is not the country of
• 42:22
  Speaker 6: Ronald Reagan.
• 42:24
  Speaker 3: Uh.
• 42:25
Speaker 6: And for people to sit there and not stand when
• 42:28
Speaker 6: the President of the United States comes in, I mean,
• 42:30
Speaker 6: I'm sorry that's wrong, and I will call out Democrat.
• 42:33
Speaker 6: But if if it were, if the Republicans did the
• 42:35
Speaker 6: same thing, I'd called them out to like it or not,
• 42:37
Speaker 6: this is the president of the United States of America.
• 42:39
Speaker 6: I didn't vote for the guy, voted for him twice,
• 42:42
Speaker 6: I didn't vote for him this past time. I'm not
• 42:43
Speaker 6: happy that he's the president of the United States. However,
• 42:45
Speaker 6: he is the president of the United States. But you know,
• 42:49
Speaker 6: Trump doesn't really care because he thrives on this stuff.
• 42:52
Speaker 6: He loves it. He loves it, and it does nothing
• 42:54
Speaker 6: but further energize his base in Washington and back home.
• 42:59
Speaker 6: So my good friend Howard Monroe, who does a show
• 43:04
Speaker 6: similar to Mind frequent talk line guest does a show
• 43:06
Speaker 6: similar Mind up North, alluded to the misinformation, which he
• 43:11
Speaker 6: just called lies. He posted on social media that if
• 43:15
Speaker 6: I get fired for this, Murphy're in charge for the
• 43:17
Speaker 6: rest of the show that he thought some Republican members
• 43:20
Speaker 6: of Congress may run up on stage and unzipped the
• 43:23
Speaker 6: president pants while on stage. Monroe also pointed out the
• 43:27
Speaker 6: irony that last night's spectacle took place in a place
• 43:30
Speaker 6: where Trump's followers attempted to overthrow the government on January
• 43:34
Speaker 6: sixth on that I got nothing. I just strongly feel
• 43:39
Speaker 6: we somehow got to manage to try to get our
• 43:41
Speaker 6: country back. I mean when I say get it back,
• 43:45
Speaker 6: I don't mean get it back from Trump. I mean
• 43:47
Speaker 6: get it back from the loonies that are out there
• 43:50
Speaker 6: on both sides. And there's enough Republican lunatics that enough
• 43:53
Speaker 6: Democrat lunatics. But I think somewhere there's some people in
• 43:56
Speaker 6: the middle that just say, we want a damn normal
• 43:59
  Speaker 6: country again.
• 44:01
Speaker 4: That's what we want. Will you get it? I don't know.
• 44:05

Speaker 6: Texas Dave stops saying both sides. It sounds ignorant to
