- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Amy Torber and coming up on today's show, Sky Wheatley
- 0:13Speaker 1: shares her dramatic transformation following a fox eye surgery. Lucy
- 0:18Speaker 1: Jackson slams cheating boyfriend a day after he moved in
- 0:22Speaker 1: and Tammy Hembrough turns into a snake catcher. But first, Sophie,
- 0:27Speaker 1: my TikTok for some reason has been serving me up
- 0:30Speaker 1: a lot of content around Diet Coke at the moment.
- 0:33Speaker 1: And there is a whole subculture of people who are
- 0:37Speaker 1: just obsessed with trying to track down and create the
- 0:40Speaker 1: crispiest Diet Coke. I don't know if you've seen this content.
- 0:44Speaker 2: We have to have pebbled ice and a glass cup.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Preferably a glass cup that's been sitting in the.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Freezer for a couple hours.
- 0:49Speaker 3: We also need a glass straw.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Do you hear how crispy that is?
- 0:53Speaker 3: That's going to be a beautiful Diet Coke.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Kind of get it I would think that I'm a
- 0:57Speaker 1: bit of a coke connoisseur it is my drink of
- 0:59Speaker 1: choice I'm a coke no sugar person and I think
- 1:03Speaker 1: that it tastes so different in a can in a
- 1:05Speaker 1: bottle in a large bottle from the tap I mean
- 1:08Speaker 1: it's the worst in the tap there are some people
- 1:10Speaker 1: on TikTok who love a McDonald's coke and they swear
- 1:13Speaker 1: that that is the best way it's served but personally
- 1:16Speaker 1: I think it's the worst There's something in it that
- 1:19Speaker 1: makes me need to go to the toilet all the time.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I think it's the ice that makes it taste really good, though,
- 1:23Speaker 1: because I'm saying I don't like it. No, but I
- 1:26Speaker 1: actually do. I get around that more. I get it
- 1:28Speaker 1: now because before I would have said, no, no, in
- 1:30Speaker 1: a can's best. But it's not. You need the ice.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I think a can of Coke can taste just as good,
- 1:36Speaker 1: but it has to be really cold. And this is
- 1:38Speaker 1: where one TikToker has come up with the theory of
- 1:41Speaker 1: marinating a Coke. So she's called Christine Hollinghouse. And basically
- 1:46Speaker 1: her rule of thumb is that you have to keep
- 1:48Speaker 1: a can of Coke in the fridge upwards of 10
- 1:50Speaker 1: days and then that's when it reaches its absolute peak
- 1:54Speaker 1: coldness and crispiness. Yeah, it has to be a bit
- 1:57Speaker 1: misty on the outside of the can to be marinated
- 2:01Speaker 1: enough to drink it.
- 2:03Speaker 2: We take the Diet Coke, we put it in the fridge,
- 2:05Speaker 2: we let it sit and marinate for multiple days at
- 2:08Speaker 2: a time and then you get this and it becomes
- 2:11Speaker 2: crispy and delicious and it's marinated.
- 2:15Speaker 1: My partner recently bought a slab of Coke No Sugars
- 2:18Speaker 1: and we've had half sitting on top of the fridge
- 2:20Speaker 1: and half in the fridge. And we got to the
- 2:22Speaker 1: rotation where there was only one marinated Coke left. And
- 2:26Speaker 1: I put the bunch of warm cans in the fridge
- 2:29Speaker 1: thinking I've done the good deed. I'm cooling these ones up.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I will have the marinated can for dinner. He snuck
- 2:36Speaker 1: in and got it first. And I can tell you
- 2:38Speaker 1: that there is a big difference between a warm can
- 2:41Speaker 1: and a marinated can.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Oh, definitely.
- 2:43Speaker 1: How do you think you would go in one of
- 2:45Speaker 1: those blind tastings where you have to pick if it's
- 2:47Speaker 1: a bottle, if it's a can or if it is
- 2:50Speaker 1: a McDonald's Diet Coke? I would be bang on. Like
- 2:52Speaker 1: I'm pretty confident I could tell the difference straight away. Well,
- 2:55Speaker 1: I think we should put you to that test. I
- 2:58Speaker 1: also consider myself a Coke Zero and Diet Coke connoisseur.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I challenge you. I think we need a prize. So
- 3:04Speaker 1: whoever loses has to buy the winner a slab of
- 3:07Speaker 1: Diet Coke.
- 3:10Speaker 3: What the hell? I never thought I would be 34
- 3:13Speaker 3: and get cheated on by a bloke that draws. Like, what?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Podcast host Lucy Jackson has dramatically split with her boyfriend
- 3:27Speaker 1: Sam a day after he moved in. The happy hour
- 3:31Speaker 1: host broke the news on TikTok by miming this line
- 3:34Speaker 1: from the song Man Eater.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Honestly, you guys do him a service.
- 3:40Speaker 1: He needs money for therapy. Now, over the top of
- 3:48Speaker 1: the video, she wrote looking for a roommate. So her
- 3:51Speaker 1: followers instantly knew she was talking about Sam. And in
- 3:54Speaker 1: the comment section, one of the loyal punters wrote expose him,
- 3:58Speaker 1: to which Lucy replied, he cheated on me and that's
- 4:01Speaker 1: the beginning. Well, since that comment, Sam has changed his username.
- 4:05Speaker 1: So now when you search him, he has no profile
- 4:08Speaker 1: picture and his Instagram at handle just reads user 659,
- 4:12Speaker 1: something along those lines. He clearly does not want to
- 4:15Speaker 1: cop the wrath of Lucy's fans. No, I don't think
- 4:18Speaker 1: I would either. People have been so upset about this.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I keep seeing it posted in a ton of different
- 4:23Speaker 1: Facebook groups. And I think that the reason why people
- 4:26Speaker 1: are so upset is before Lucy met Sam, she said
- 4:30Speaker 1: that she'd given up on the whole idea of falling
- 4:33Speaker 1: in love and she'd been single for three years and
- 4:35Speaker 1: she was very much over the dating scene, but she
- 4:38Speaker 1: gave Sam a go. And it seemed like Sam was
- 4:41Speaker 1: one of those guys that she wouldn't normally date because Apparently,
- 4:46Speaker 1: she had a huge ick list and her top three
- 4:49Speaker 1: icks were all things that he did. What were they? Well,
- 4:52Speaker 1: on their first date, he wore low-cut vans and that
- 4:55Speaker 1: was literally at the top of her list that she
- 4:57Speaker 1: hates low-cut vans. He also can't eat spicy food. He
- 5:02Speaker 1: hates coriander and he's a very fussy eater. And the
- 5:05Speaker 1: last one is that he doesn't cook. So these were
- 5:08Speaker 1: a few red flags for her initially and she still
- 5:10Speaker 1: gave the guy a go. That's just unfair. I mean,
- 5:13Speaker 1: it kind of reiterates that maybe you should stick to
- 5:16Speaker 1: some of your ick list. Yeah, but when you're in
- 5:18Speaker 1: a relationship, you sort of forget about those icks and
- 5:21Speaker 1: it's more important whether they're a nice person. Yeah, there
- 5:24Speaker 1: becomes bigger issues like when someone cheats on you. Well, exactly.
- 5:27Speaker 1: The thing is these two met on Hinge and it
- 5:30Speaker 1: was actually one of the first Hinge dates that Lucy
- 5:32Speaker 1: went on on the Gold Coast because before she would
- 5:35Speaker 1: meet people online, but they were living interstate. But this
- 5:38Speaker 1: was the first guy that she felt like things weren't
- 5:41Speaker 1: complicated with. He just seemed like a nice guy. He
- 5:44Speaker 1: didn't play any games. Is that a red flag in
- 5:46Speaker 1: itself as well? Because sometimes the nice guys are the
- 5:49Speaker 1: bigger dickheads. So now we have to be cautious of
- 5:51Speaker 1: the fuck boys and the nice guys. Well, pretty much.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I mean, things didn't really go smooth sailing at first though,
- 5:57Speaker 1: because Lucy said she kept finding reasons to not be
- 6:01Speaker 1: with him. So when she got back, they started dating
- 6:04Speaker 1: seriously and You could tell that she really liked him
- 6:07Speaker 1: because she started sharing him on socials more. She started
- 6:10Speaker 1: speaking about him on her podcast. They also recently traveled
- 6:13Speaker 1: to Europe together where they celebrated Nikki's hen's party. And
- 6:17Speaker 1: there was so many cute, loved up videos of them
- 6:20Speaker 1: in Italy. And Lucy opened up that, you know, she
- 6:23Speaker 1: was taking the chance and he was going to be
- 6:25Speaker 1: moving in with her. Well, the extra fucked bit was
- 6:27Speaker 1: it was only two weeks ago that they exchanged their
- 6:30Speaker 1: first I love you's. And then Sam, of course, moved
- 6:33Speaker 1: into the house. Well, the day after he moved in,
- 6:36Speaker 1: this is when the shit hit the fan because they
- 6:38Speaker 1: went out to dinner and Lucy discovered that he had
- 6:41Speaker 1: been cheating on her with multiple women. Here's what Lucy
- 6:44Speaker 1: said on TikTok.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I found out on Wednesday night after we'd gone out
- 6:53Speaker 3: for dinner that I'd been cheated on with multiple people,
- 6:58Speaker 3: not just one. And I think for the first like
- 7:03Speaker 3: 48 hours, I was like really running off adrenaline. And
- 7:07Speaker 3: like I was when I'm really sad or angry, I
- 7:10Speaker 3: like actually am pretty dark and like a bit funny.
- 7:13Speaker 3: And so I think I've been like one of those
- 7:15Speaker 3: funny moods where you kind of just like making a
- 7:17Speaker 3: joke out of it. Like last night I went out
- 7:19Speaker 3: for drinks with my girlfriends and I literally walked in
- 7:21Speaker 3: and was like, cheers to getting cheated on in twenty
- 7:25Speaker 3: twenty four.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It's interesting timing and it makes me wonder, did Sam
- 7:30Speaker 1: bring something incriminating into the house when he moved in?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Because sometimes when you live away from your partner, you
- 7:36Speaker 1: don't have access to say their iMessages on their computer
- 7:40Speaker 1: and sometimes people can get caught out. When you say
- 7:42Speaker 1: something incriminating, what did he have a... girl's pair of
- 7:44Speaker 1: underpants in his possession. No, I mean, maybe she's suddenly
- 7:48Speaker 1: got access to his phone. He's been out or hear
- 7:50Speaker 1: his computer on his iMessages and seen incriminating messages. Do
- 7:53Speaker 1: you know what? Men are stupid though. Maybe he thought, well,
- 7:55Speaker 1: we've now said, I love you. We're kind of official
- 7:58Speaker 1: because of that. I'm moving in. Maybe I'll clear the
- 8:02Speaker 1: air and say, hey, whilst we weren't so serious, I
- 8:05Speaker 1: hooked up with a couple of girls. I think the
- 8:07Speaker 1: way that Lucy has reacted, though, doesn't tie in with
- 8:10Speaker 1: her being told about it. I think she's found out
- 8:13Speaker 1: and she's angry. Well, she said that she isn't usually
- 8:16Speaker 1: an oversharer on social media, but she felt compelled to
- 8:20Speaker 1: document her feelings through this breakup because She thought it
- 8:23Speaker 1: might help someone else who's going through something similar. She's
- 8:26Speaker 1: probably embarrassed as well because she is very well known
- 8:29Speaker 1: and it sounds like it was multiple people that he
- 8:32Speaker 1: cheated on her with. And the Gold Coast is small,
- 8:35Speaker 1: like everyone seems to know each other. She also said
- 8:38Speaker 1: that she wanted to share about it because she's never
- 8:40Speaker 1: going to get back with Sam so she has nothing
- 8:42Speaker 1: to protect. And whilst she was trying to put on
- 8:45Speaker 1: a brave face, it is clear that this breakup is
- 8:48Speaker 1: affecting her more than she'd like to lead on. Here's
- 8:50Speaker 1: what she said.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I think this morning is the first time that I've
- 8:54Speaker 3: woken up and I feel like I truly feel like
- 8:56Speaker 3: really sad. Um, I'm also extremely hungover, which is probably
- 9:01Speaker 3: not helping, but like, I'm just about to go to
- 9:03Speaker 3: one of my friend's baby showers and I'm like, fuck,
- 9:07Speaker 3: I was just so ready to have like my person.
- 9:11Speaker 3: And like, I, I think I was just like, you know,
- 9:16Speaker 3: so ready to, move into that next chapter and I
- 9:21Speaker 3: just think I'm just like really it's really hitting me
- 9:24Speaker 3: today that I'm like I can square one with it
- 9:27Speaker 3: like I'd rather be on my own than obviously be
- 9:29Speaker 3: with someone who's cheating on me like obviously but I
- 9:33Speaker 3: don't know today's the first day that I've just felt
- 9:35Speaker 3: quite sad and just like really felt the like I
- 9:40Speaker 3: like can feel lonely and I kind of wish I
- 9:43Speaker 3: could talk to him about it and be comforted by him,
- 9:52Speaker 3: even though he's the person that did the wrong thing
- 9:54Speaker 3: to me.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I think that so many people could relate to that
- 9:58Speaker 1: feeling of being back at square one. She'd just been
- 10:02Speaker 1: vulnerable and finally opened up to someone and for him
- 10:05Speaker 1: to then turn around and cheat on her with not
- 10:08Speaker 1: only one person but multiple people when she thought, wow,
- 10:11Speaker 1: this is a genuine nice guy I can actually see
- 10:13Speaker 1: myself with would be so heartbreaking and And also I
- 10:17Speaker 1: saw her saying that she'd actually put her walls down
- 10:20Speaker 1: and she tried not to be so down on men.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Like she felt like she'd actually had this nice guy
- 10:26Speaker 1: come into her life and she was saying she doesn't
- 10:28Speaker 1: then want to turn back into kind of a quote
- 10:31Speaker 1: man hater. Well, yeah, she said she didn't want it
- 10:33Speaker 1: to harden her. I just think it's so tough being
- 10:36Speaker 1: single in your thirties because particularly how she referenced that
- 10:39Speaker 1: she was on her way to a baby shower. It's
- 10:42Speaker 1: really hard because all these women are in different stages
- 10:45Speaker 1: of their lives, but you're the same age. Yeah. And
- 10:47Speaker 1: it's hard not to, you're happy for your friends, but
- 10:50Speaker 1: it'd also be hard not to have a level of
- 10:52Speaker 1: jealousy and think, well, is this ever going to happen
- 10:54Speaker 1: to me? If that's something that you want later in life. Yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 1: And also the fact that her best friend, Nikki is
- 10:58Speaker 1: getting married soon. She's just been at her hen's party
- 11:01Speaker 1: as well. It's not good. I was really interested to
- 11:04Speaker 1: look at the comment section. And as we touched on earlier,
- 11:07Speaker 1: she has received an outpouring of support from listeners and
- 11:10Speaker 1: they are all backing her. I did spy Olivia Rogers
- 11:14Speaker 1: calling Sam a dirty dog under one of Lucy's videos,
- 11:19Speaker 1: which is kind of interesting because you know how Morgan
- 11:22Speaker 1: Waterhouse came out and all of his friends sort of
- 11:24Speaker 1: backed him up. Again, this was in a different sentiment
- 11:28Speaker 1: though because this guy has cheated. He's been publicly exposed. Well, yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 1: this guy is a dirty dog. I kind of love
- 11:34Speaker 1: that Olivia went there. Same. It was just sort of
- 11:37Speaker 1: interesting the irony of her ex's friend's slagging her off
- 11:41Speaker 1: in the comments section. There's a difference between the way
- 11:43Speaker 1: they spoke about Olivia though. I feel like they spoke
- 11:45Speaker 1: about her in such a disrespectful manner. Calling someone a
- 11:47Speaker 1: dirty dog is a little bit different to how they
- 11:49Speaker 1: spoke about her. And they were also hurling allegations at her.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Now on Sunday, Lucy gave an update on her TikTok
- 11:56Speaker 1: and she explained that she'd recorded a lot of videos,
- 11:59Speaker 1: but she didn't want to post them because she started
- 12:02Speaker 1: feeling anxious about oversharing and making matters worse. And she
- 12:06Speaker 1: urged her followers not to bully Sam or send him
- 12:09Speaker 1: nasty comments. but reiterated that she loved how loyal the
- 12:13Speaker 1: punters were. Is it terrible that I'm so nosy that
- 12:16Speaker 1: I'm thinking, can she share those videos? Yeah, I really
- 12:20Speaker 1: want to know exactly what happened. Surely they'll address it
- 12:24Speaker 1: on the podcast. I think that they will save it
- 12:26Speaker 1: for the podcast. I'm not a regular happy hour listener,
- 12:29Speaker 1: but I think I've got to start getting into it
- 12:31Speaker 1: because this is going to be juicy when this unfolds. Oh,
- 12:33Speaker 1: it will be one I will definitely be tuning into.
- 12:38Speaker 4: It's good to be open and honest about it. And
- 12:40Speaker 4: I'm here to answer any questions.
- 12:43Speaker 1: After an anxious wait, Sky Wheatley re-emerged on social media
- 12:47Speaker 1: three days after undergoing fox eye surgery in Turkey. The
- 12:52Speaker 1: former Big Brother contestant initially refused to show her face
- 12:56Speaker 1: in the healing stage, saying it looked too horrific. Now, Sophie,
- 13:00Speaker 1: her radio silence left many fans concerned. including you. Oh,
- 13:06Speaker 1: I was feeling really unnerved about the whole thing after
- 13:09Speaker 1: our episode dropped on Tuesday. I just kept finding myself
- 13:13Speaker 1: revisiting her profile. I wanted to see how she was traveling.
- 13:17Speaker 1: We also usually put out promo clips for the episode
- 13:21Speaker 1: and I just didn't feel right about putting a reel
- 13:24Speaker 1: together about her surgery because I thought, what if something
- 13:27Speaker 1: has gone on? I became particularly concerned when I noticed
- 13:32Speaker 1: that her Instagram story had been taken down. So that
- 13:35Speaker 1: was a story of her being wheeled into surgery. And
- 13:39Speaker 1: in the photo, she was in her hospital gown and
- 13:41Speaker 1: she wrote, feel like I could vomit. Ha ha. It's happening.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Now this wasn't up for 24 hours. This was up
- 13:47Speaker 1: for about nine hours. And then out of nowhere, it
- 13:49Speaker 1: had been removed. And I thought, oh my God, what
- 13:52Speaker 1: if the worst has happened? And her family have gone
- 13:55Speaker 1: into her account and removed it because they didn't want
- 13:58Speaker 1: to promote the clinic or the surgeon. Well, a lot
- 14:00Speaker 1: of her followers had the same thoughts because they were
- 14:03Speaker 1: commenting under her previous TikTok video and they were all
- 14:06Speaker 1: discussing their concerns. So one said, is she okay? She
- 14:10Speaker 1: hasn't been on in days. While another said, I've been
- 14:12Speaker 1: checking now. Another person said, I know I'm really worried too. Yeah. Well,
- 14:16Speaker 1: fears about Sky had really been amplified by TikTok-er Sheree
- 14:21Speaker 1: Morris's horrifying experience in Turkey. So she is an Australian
- 14:25Speaker 1: makeup artist. She has over 500,000 followers on TikTok. Now,
- 14:30Speaker 1: she recently traveled to Turkey to have a breast reduction
- 14:33Speaker 1: and lift, and she'd previously been there the year prior
- 14:36Speaker 1: to have a tummy tuck. And for that surgery, she
- 14:39Speaker 1: actually had a collaboration with another surgeon. Now, the breast
- 14:44Speaker 1: reduction and lift didn't go quite so well because 48
- 14:47Speaker 1: hours after the surgery, She started developing a fever and
- 14:51Speaker 1: chills and her doctor told her to just turn the
- 14:54Speaker 1: air conditioner down. He said, that's what the issue is.
- 14:58Speaker 1: So she created a story time video detailing what actually
- 15:03Speaker 1: went down. She posted this in May and it was
- 15:05Speaker 1: very graphic if you do go and have a look
- 15:08Speaker 1: at it. she showed a lot of close-up photos of
- 15:10Speaker 1: an infection that was forming underneath the folds of her breasts. Now,
- 15:14Speaker 1: let's not go too far into it because it gets
- 15:16Speaker 1: really gross. Well, no, but so she raised the concern
- 15:19Speaker 1: with her doctor who said, you're fine and you're ready
- 15:22Speaker 1: to board the flight home to Australia. So she flew
- 15:26Speaker 1: home in this state and she shared a photo. It
- 15:29Speaker 1: showed she had a T-shirt on and the back of
- 15:32Speaker 1: the T-shirt was drenched in blood. Once she was back
- 15:35Speaker 1: in Australia, she was rushed in for emergency surgery and
- 15:39Speaker 1: she had a ton of infections, the worst being sepsis.
- 15:42Speaker 1: So she was fighting for her life. And she said,
- 15:45Speaker 1: it's been the scariest thing I've ever experienced. I'm still
- 15:49Speaker 1: fighting the infection, still recovering from the second surgery and
- 15:53Speaker 1: now have a machine attached 24 seven to help me heal. Now,
- 15:58Speaker 1: after this experience, as you can imagine, she said that
- 16:00Speaker 1: she is done with surgery for life. Poor girl. Now,
- 16:04Speaker 1: I think everyone let out a collective sigh of relief
- 16:07Speaker 1: when Sky finally resurfaced three days later online and the
- 16:12Speaker 1: surgery sounded intense. Sky said she couldn't open her eyes
- 16:16Speaker 1: for three days, which explains why she wasn't able to
- 16:19Speaker 1: go on TikTok. Well, she revealed that she was quite
- 16:22Speaker 1: relieved because initially she was going to travel to Turkey
- 16:25Speaker 1: alone for the surgery. But she ended up taking a
- 16:29Speaker 1: friend with her who also got the fox eye lift
- 16:32Speaker 1: and veneers. So she said that... What? Did they do
- 16:36Speaker 1: it at the same time? No, they did the veneers first.
- 16:38Speaker 1: But she said that if she hadn't traveled with a friend,
- 16:41Speaker 1: she would have felt very unsafe being in a foreign
- 16:44Speaker 1: hospital with practically no eyesight. Now, once she was back
- 16:49Speaker 1: in her hotel room recovering, she shared a question box
- 16:52Speaker 1: encouraging her followers... to submit questions about the surgery. But
- 16:56Speaker 1: at this point, she hadn't actually shared a photo or
- 16:58Speaker 1: video of what her face looked like after the surgery. No,
- 17:01Speaker 1: and that was one of the top questions. So someone said,
- 17:03Speaker 1: can we see what your face looks like after surgery?
- 17:06Speaker 1: So she replied showing her recovering in her hotel bed,
- 17:10Speaker 1: but her face was strategically cut out of it. And
- 17:13Speaker 1: she wrote, ha ha, nah, it's horrific. But I know
- 17:16Speaker 1: that this is how it's going to look right now.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I'm trusting the process. I've logged it all too so
- 17:21Speaker 1: you guys can see each day what it looks like
- 17:23Speaker 1: when I upload the video. I think the reason Sky
- 17:27Speaker 1: was initially reluctant to show her face is because she
- 17:30Speaker 1: knows that publications like the Daily Mail are going to
- 17:33Speaker 1: take that photo and they're going to plaster it everywhere
- 17:36Speaker 1: and say the surgery is botched. They're not going to
- 17:38Speaker 1: point out that this is the healing stage. Well, even
- 17:41Speaker 1: social media, I mean TikTok, images of her face looking
- 17:45Speaker 1: like that would go viral. Yeah, and it's at a
- 17:47Speaker 1: stage where it is going to look very inflamed and
- 17:50Speaker 1: puffy and you've really got to give something like this
- 17:52Speaker 1: probably a month for it to calm down. Now, Sky
- 17:55Speaker 1: continues saying, the only reason I'm documenting this is for
- 17:58Speaker 1: other girls undergoing surgery because it's such a nice reassurance
- 18:02Speaker 1: to see the beginning to the end. It's such an
- 18:05Speaker 1: overwhelming process, but you've just got to wait it out
- 18:08Speaker 1: and be patient for the results. This makes me feel
- 18:11Speaker 1: really uncomfortable. I mean, I don't necessarily have a problem
- 18:14Speaker 1: with women documenting their surgeries to show others, But I
- 18:18Speaker 1: do feel uncomfortable with the way medical tourism is being promoted. Yeah,
- 18:22Speaker 1: because in a lot of instances, major surgery is being
- 18:26Speaker 1: marketed as this frivolous holiday with the gals. It's a
- 18:29Speaker 1: chance to fix all the things that you hate about
- 18:31Speaker 1: yourself while you're sipping on cocktails at the pool. But
- 18:35Speaker 1: in reality, you are undergoing major surgery that in most
- 18:39Speaker 1: instances is being performed in a country where there's very
- 18:43Speaker 1: different protocols and codes of ethics to what we have
- 18:46Speaker 1: in Australia. And when we see cases like Cherie being
- 18:50Speaker 1: spoken about, it shows just how dangerous it can be.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I was really surprised to find out that Skye not
- 18:57Speaker 1: only had the fox eye lift, but she also had
- 19:00Speaker 1: liposuction on her arm and inner thigh. So she wrote
- 19:03Speaker 1: that her doctor said there wasn't much fat on her
- 19:06Speaker 1: arms or legs, so they only took the slightest bit out. Now,
- 19:10Speaker 1: one follower asked what we're all thinking and said, why
- 19:13Speaker 1: did you get liposuction if you're really fit? And she
- 19:16Speaker 1: replied saying, because it doesn't matter how fit you are,
- 19:19Speaker 1: you're always going to have areas of stubborn fat. And
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm not actually that fit, haha. Yes, I train daily,
- 19:25Speaker 1: but my diet isn't perfect. I'm too much of a
- 19:27Speaker 1: sweet tooth. I'm obsessed with sugar and food in general.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I'm a big eater, lol. He wasn't going to even
- 19:33Speaker 1: do it. He said hardly any fat, but I insisted.
- 19:36Speaker 1: He's great. He's not going to do shit for the
- 19:38Speaker 1: sake of it. He's actually a great doctor. I love him.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Doesn't that sound like he did just exactly what she
- 19:44Speaker 1: said he wouldn't do?
- 19:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 19:45Speaker 1: That's the thing. Like, it's interesting that she confirmed that
- 19:48Speaker 1: he wasn't going to do the liposuction but that she
- 19:51Speaker 1: convinced him i mean this wouldn't happen in australia because
- 19:53Speaker 1: there is a duty of care then sky went on
- 19:56Speaker 1: to explain that she actually thinks she has body dysmorphia
- 20:00Speaker 1: this is what she said.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Oh but you're already beautiful like you didn't need that
- 20:05Speaker 4: like I'm telling you now, someone who wants to get
- 20:09Speaker 4: something done does not need to be told that because
- 20:12Speaker 4: you're never going to see what they're seeing. And I
- 20:15Speaker 4: know it's like a whole psychological fucking shit show. And
- 20:20Speaker 4: I will be the first person to admit that like, yeah,
- 20:23Speaker 4: maybe I do have body dysmorphia and yeah, I have
- 20:26Speaker 4: daddy issues. And yeah, maybe I've not dated the best
- 20:29Speaker 4: guys who have always told me that I'm beautiful. But
- 20:32Speaker 4: I mean, besides that, it's something to do with me
- 20:36Speaker 4: and only me.
- 20:39Speaker 1: This is just getting so troubling and very awkward to watch. Now,
- 20:43Speaker 1: Sky confirmed that her partner, Lockie, was supportive over the surgery,
- 20:46Speaker 1: but said that she was a fucking idiot for getting
- 20:48Speaker 1: it done. But he knew regardless of what he said
- 20:51Speaker 1: to Sky, she was going to go ahead with it anyway. Well,
- 20:54Speaker 1: aside from the body dysmorphia, Sky also said that she
- 20:57Speaker 1: believes she's addicted to plastic surgery. And I think that
- 21:00Speaker 1: this is the core reason that she has traveled to
- 21:02Speaker 1: Turkey for this surgery, because a lot of followers are saying, Well,
- 21:05Speaker 1: she's a highly paid influencer. Surely she could afford surgery
- 21:09Speaker 1: in Australia. But the reason that I think she's going
- 21:12Speaker 1: to the lengths of getting this done in Turkey is
- 21:14Speaker 1: because she knows that Australian surgeons would be very unlikely
- 21:18Speaker 1: to approve her for these procedures because in Australia, there's
- 21:22Speaker 1: a code of conduct and that's been developed by the
- 21:25Speaker 1: Medical Board of Australia. And within those guidelines, it says
- 21:28Speaker 1: that a medical practitioner has to assess the patient for
- 21:32Speaker 1: any underlying psychological conditions. such as body dysmorphia, which may
- 21:36Speaker 1: make them an unsuitable candidate. So she knows if she
- 21:39Speaker 1: goes into an Australian surgeon and asks for this list
- 21:42Speaker 1: of procedures that she really doesn't need to get done,
- 21:45Speaker 1: that they are going to say, sorry, we're not going
- 21:47Speaker 1: to approve that. Well, interestingly, it's Sky's doctor that posted
- 21:52Speaker 1: the first photo of her. So this was on Monday
- 21:55Speaker 1: and she was back in the studio where he showed
- 21:58Speaker 1: a close-up shot of the eye lift. And I feel terrible,
- 22:02Speaker 1: but I was very alarmed seeing this photo. I know
- 22:05Speaker 1: it's less than a week after surgery and her face
- 22:08Speaker 1: clearly hasn't healed properly, but it was quite shocking.
- 22:11Speaker 3: I found the.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Photo really confronting and quite upsetting. And again, I have
- 22:15Speaker 1: to remind myself that this is going to look very
- 22:17Speaker 1: different because she's fresh from surgery. It's very puffy at
- 22:21Speaker 1: the moment, but her eyebrows look dramatically lifted and her
- 22:25Speaker 1: eyes looked very lifted as well. It just did not
- 22:28Speaker 1: look natural. In the caption, the doctor wrote, the job
- 22:32Speaker 1: is done. Now, if I was him, I would rather
- 22:35Speaker 1: show the results once things have settled down and she's
- 22:38Speaker 1: had time to heal. I don't understand why you would
- 22:40Speaker 1: show something when it's so raw. I'd be pissed off
- 22:43Speaker 1: if I was Sky. I'd want to be the first
- 22:45Speaker 1: person sharing the photo and controlling what kind of photo
- 22:48Speaker 1: that was. Particularly when the media are going to pick
- 22:50Speaker 1: up that photo and run with it. And it's not
- 22:52Speaker 1: the actual end result that she's hoping to reveal. I've
- 22:55Speaker 1: noticed a lot of commentary since that photo dropped, though,
- 22:58Speaker 1: of people saying, They're a bit uncomfortable because the fox
- 23:02Speaker 1: eye trend almost looks like cultural appropriation. And this has
- 23:05Speaker 1: been an issue that has been raised for the last
- 23:08Speaker 1: couple of years related to this trend. Well, that's because
- 23:11Speaker 1: the whole point of the fox eye trend is to
- 23:13Speaker 1: lengthen the eye and to make it look very sleek
- 23:16Speaker 1: and more slanted upwards. And that look does resemble natural
- 23:20Speaker 1: Asian eyes. And as soon as this fox eye trend
- 23:23Speaker 1: started to become popular in 2020... many people in the
- 23:27Speaker 1: Asian community labelled it as cultural appropriation. Yeah, a lot
- 23:31Speaker 1: of people in the Asian community have been saying that
- 23:33Speaker 1: this is just another example of Eurocentric mainstream culture cherry-picking
- 23:39Speaker 1: ethnic features to look cool while treating and viewing the
- 23:42Speaker 1: ethnicity in question as inferior. I've been trying to put
- 23:45Speaker 1: my finger on why I feel uncomfortable about this trend
- 23:47Speaker 1: for quite some time and I think that this has
- 23:49Speaker 1: perfectly articulated it because it does really seem like Caucasian women...
- 23:55Speaker 1: are picking out different cultural traits on other women that
- 23:58Speaker 1: they like and taking it for themselves. And as a
- 24:02Speaker 1: lot of these writers have said, it's very offensive because
- 24:04Speaker 1: these are all traits that they've either been bullied or
- 24:07Speaker 1: racially vilified for. And then we're seeing celebrities like Bella
- 24:11Speaker 1: Hadid or Megan Fox walking the red carpet using tape
- 24:15Speaker 1: to appear almost Asian. And that's the crazy thing about
- 24:20Speaker 1: it is that Caucasian women don't naturally have this eye shape.
- 24:24Speaker 1: So everyone's saying, oh, it's the Bella Hadid. No, she's
- 24:27Speaker 1: getting tape and taping her eyes like that. It's actually
- 24:30Speaker 1: not something that Caucasian women have generally. So it just
- 24:35Speaker 1: shows how messed up this trend is. The whole irony
- 24:38Speaker 1: is that as a result of racial persecution, many Asian
- 24:43Speaker 1: women are going and getting double eyelid surgery. So it's
- 24:47Speaker 1: the complete opposite. The aim is to create an eyelid crease,
- 24:50Speaker 1: which results in a larger and more rounded eye. So basically-
- 24:54Speaker 1: Asian women are trying to have a more Western looking eye.
- 24:58Speaker 1: And this is one of the most performed aesthetic procedures
- 25:01Speaker 1: in Asia. And it's the third most requested cosmetic operations
- 25:05Speaker 1: amongst Asian Americans. I'm intrigued to see how Sky navigates
- 25:09Speaker 1: this situation because she's already made it clear she's going
- 25:12Speaker 1: to continue to share about this controversial surgery on her
- 25:16Speaker 1: TikTok page. It means she is going to continue to
- 25:19Speaker 1: cop criticism for this fox eye trend. And she is
- 25:22Speaker 1: no stranger to controversy, especially when it comes to cultural appropriation.
- 25:26Speaker 1: So she is going to be one to watch. Tammy
- 25:34Speaker 1: Hembrough had the shock of her life when she spotted
- 25:37Speaker 1: a large snake slithering across her living room floor.
- 25:42Speaker 4: I'm shaking.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I'm so glad I literally just put Posie in her
- 25:46Speaker 3: room for a nap.
- 25:47Speaker 2: What the F?
- 25:50Speaker 1: Oh, I'm not equipped to this mentally.
- 25:53Speaker 4: We're trying to like hurt it outside.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Tammy was in the middle of cleaning out her fridge
- 25:58Speaker 1: in the kitchen when the snake decided to pay her
- 26:01Speaker 1: a visit. And by the time she pulled out her
- 26:03Speaker 1: phone to capture the snake in action, it had taken
- 26:06Speaker 1: refuge under her white couch. And it was so gross
- 26:09Speaker 1: because you could see its tail poking out the bottom.
- 26:12Speaker 1: We had a bit of a debate because I think
- 26:14Speaker 1: this is a tree snake, but you were convinced it
- 26:17Speaker 1: looked like a brown snake. Look, the reason I thought
- 26:19Speaker 1: it could be a brown snake is because she lives
- 26:21Speaker 1: at Broad Beach and that is a very well-known spot
- 26:24Speaker 1: for having a large population of eastern brown snakes. Well,
- 26:27Speaker 1: I can assure you if this was a brown snake,
- 26:29Speaker 1: she would have got a snake bite. catcher to get out.
- 26:32Speaker 1: She wouldn't have just got a stick. And Amy, in
- 26:34Speaker 1: this video, she literally says, I don't know what to do.
- 26:37Speaker 1: What am I supposed to do with it? Some people
- 26:40Speaker 1: have pointed out on TikTok that Tammy appears to have
- 26:43Speaker 1: gone and run and got some thongs to put on.
- 26:45Speaker 1: They're like, I love that she got her protective thongs.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Isn't it funny how like when you're in bare feet,
- 26:52Speaker 1: there's something about even just having a pair of thongs
- 26:54Speaker 1: on where you feel a bit safer, where you feel
- 26:56Speaker 1: vulnerable barefoot. Well, she did decide to go against getting
- 27:01Speaker 1: a snake catcher. And she took the matters into her
- 27:03Speaker 1: own hands. So in this video on TikTok, she showed
- 27:06Speaker 1: herself alongside her sister Ava trying to herd this snake
- 27:10Speaker 1: out of the house. And in it, Ava considered at
- 27:14Speaker 1: one point trying to pick up the snake by its
- 27:16Speaker 1: tail and throwing it out the door. Is this because
- 27:19Speaker 1: there was a clip, it was a news video which
- 27:22Speaker 1: went viral of this CCTV footage in someone's backyard where
- 27:26Speaker 1: this snake grabbed onto someone's cat and she picked up-
- 27:29Speaker 1: That was a rabbit, wasn't it? No, I think it
- 27:31Speaker 1: was a cat and she picked up this snake and
- 27:33Speaker 1: just like threw it basically to get it away from
- 27:36Speaker 1: her pet. Well, possibly. I mean Tammy screamed at Ava
- 27:39Speaker 1: not to do it and she was worried that the
- 27:41Speaker 1: snake was going to bite her. So Tammy instead proceeded
- 27:45Speaker 1: to get a stick. Like it wasn't like a tree stick.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 27:48Speaker 1: It was a long bit of wood and she tried
- 27:51Speaker 1: to direct the snake with this stick and out the door.
- 27:55Speaker 1: It worked quite well. At one point she got her
- 27:57Speaker 1: daughter Posey's little toy car out and started tooting the
- 28:00Speaker 1: horn at it to try and herd it out the door.
- 28:03Speaker 1: It's a tough one because I really think she should
- 28:05Speaker 1: have just got a snake catcher involved because it's stressful
- 28:08Speaker 1: for the snake to be in an environment where people
- 28:11Speaker 1: are screaming because they're very sensitive to noise. They are
- 28:14Speaker 1: sensitive to noise, but if you're trying to herd a
- 28:16Speaker 1: snake out, it's quite good to put a few vibrations
- 28:19Speaker 1: into the ground. Yeah, but get a snake catcher. They'll
- 28:21Speaker 1: remove it immediately. What if the snake went missing in
- 28:24Speaker 1: your house? I think they were keeping an eye on
- 28:26Speaker 1: it and considering it started shifting towards the door, they
- 28:28Speaker 1: thought beauty will get rid of it, will close the door.
- 28:31Speaker 1: The disturbing thing is a lot of people in Tammy's
- 28:34Speaker 1: TikTok comment section have been saying it looks like a
- 28:37Speaker 1: baby snake, which means there are siblings, there's a mother.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Where are they?
- 28:41Speaker 1: Yeah, there's probably going to be more around her house.
- 28:43Speaker 1: All I could think was where are her ragdoll cats?
- 28:47Speaker 1: And in the video, she was actually holding onto one
- 28:49Speaker 1: of them with the snake on the ground. And luckily
- 28:51Speaker 1: she just put Posey to bed. So what a stressful situation.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I bet a lot of her US and UK followers
- 28:58Speaker 1: were freaking out seeing this or either thinking that this
- 29:01Speaker 1: is something that happens just all the time in Australia.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I tend to think it's the latter where people just think, oh,
- 29:06Speaker 1: every day, normal day. Well, she does live on a riverfront.
- 29:09Speaker 1: She has this beautiful Instagrammable view of the city skyline.
- 29:14Speaker 1: And It's probably not that uncommon for people on the
- 29:18Speaker 1: Gold Coast to come across a snake. I know when
- 29:20Speaker 1: our mum lived in Queensland, her dad, our grandpa, was
- 29:24Speaker 1: always having to get rid of snakes in their house. Well,
- 29:26Speaker 1: a lot of people were asking, where was Matt? And
- 29:29Speaker 1: some people were joking that he was hiding in another room,
- 29:32Speaker 1: but he must have been out. Well, I think that
- 29:35Speaker 1: is all we have time for today. Thank you so
