- 0:44Speaker 1: She's a black belt, a tenth Planet black belt under
- 0:47Speaker 1: Eddie Bravo. She does so many things.
- 0:50Speaker 2: She is a huge proponent of getting women into jiu jitsu,
- 0:54Speaker 2: huge proponent of self defense for everyone, I think, not
- 1:00Speaker 2: most importantly, but very specifically catered to women's self defense.
- 1:05Speaker 1: She's a badass. I'll let her tell you guys what
- 1:09Speaker 1: she does.
- 1:09Speaker 2: But Donna Gonzalez, ladies and gentlemen, Hi, how.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Are you today? Donna fantastic? How are you good? I'm good.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Let me tell the listeners really quick because I know
- 1:21Speaker 2: this is our first actual episode. Well lisays was the first,
- 1:26Speaker 2: but then us airing without Lalla. As you know, we've
- 1:29Speaker 2: mentioned this before, but I keep wanting to look at
- 1:32Speaker 2: this camera, so I'm gonna look here, right, Producer John, Okay,
- 1:36Speaker 2: we're learning, you guys.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So I really wanted to bring a lot of the listeners.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Ever since I've started jiu jitsu, a lot of our friends,
- 1:44Speaker 2: a lot of you guys have written in really great
- 1:47Speaker 2: fun questions like people who know nothing about jiu jitsu,
- 1:50Speaker 2: like Jessica, why are you so obsessed with it?
- 1:52Speaker 1: Isn't this weird? Isn't that weird?
- 1:54Speaker 2: And I purposely did not answer them, knowing we'd be
- 1:57Speaker 2: doing an.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Episode like this.
- 1:59Speaker 2: So with all that said, I'm going to pass it
- 2:02Speaker 2: over to Donna to intro herself and then we'll get
- 2:06Speaker 2: into some exciting questions.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Thanks everybody. So my name is Donna Ganzalz.
- 2:11Speaker 4: I'm kind of sad that Lisa Mom isn't here. I know,
- 2:13Speaker 4: because I also wear daily contacts, but I have to. Yeah,
- 2:17Speaker 4: they fall out of my eyes when I do jiu
- 2:18Speaker 4: jitsu a lot, so I have to change them every
- 2:20Speaker 4: day because I infections. Yes, So anyway, I just wanted
- 2:24Speaker 4: to say that.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I was like, where's Lisa.
- 2:26Speaker 4: You can't you can give yourself pinku you and give
- 2:28Speaker 4: yourself sties.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Give yourself well It's like.
- 2:31Speaker 4: If the contact falls out and you put it back
- 2:33Speaker 4: in your eye, it's a dirt contact.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Can't put a dirty contact in your eye.
- 2:37Speaker 1: He said, do you wear contacts?
- 2:39Speaker 3: Okay?
- 2:40Speaker 4: At when I do jiu jitsu a lot, which we'll
- 2:43Speaker 4: talk about in a second, But my contacts like they
- 2:46Speaker 4: get knocked out sometimes because you know contact, Yeah, and
- 2:50Speaker 4: there's no punching them, right, there's no punching, but we're
- 2:52Speaker 4: like we're making contact with each other.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Heavy cross face baby, and.
- 2:56Speaker 3: I have a stigmatism and so my my come out easily. Anyways,
- 3:01Speaker 3: that I was driving up listening to that.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Episode today and I was like, yeah, contact, I get
- 3:04Speaker 4: it mean same right?
- 3:05Speaker 2: Oh, which speaking of will put a pit in this
- 3:08Speaker 2: you guys. But Donna has some very strong opinions on
- 3:13Speaker 2: Trigger Warning where I talk about almost getting abducted and
- 3:18Speaker 2: then where Lisa talks about the girl putting the bill
- 3:21Speaker 2: in her hair.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yes, but that being said, Donna, let's go back. I'm
- 3:24Speaker 1: so sorry.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I know you're gooding. I digress. My name is
- 3:29Speaker 4: Donna Gonzalez.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I am a jiu jitsu coach.
- 3:31Speaker 4: I am a women's self defense coach. I call myself
- 3:35Speaker 4: an empowerment coach. My whole focus is helping women find
- 3:38Speaker 4: that badass space inside of them.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I also teach men how to do jiu jitsu children.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I live inside a little jiu jitsu bubble, but yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 4: that's my whole thing is I'm all about like bringing
- 3:52Speaker 4: the ladies together and like having them find their power
- 3:55Speaker 4: and doing this really cool sport that Jessica is obviously
- 3:59Speaker 4: obsessed with now. So I'm here to help feed her
- 4:02Speaker 4: obsession and hopefully answer some questions for you guys about the.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Sport and get some more people upsessed, get.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Some more people oubsessed.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Hopefully come, yes, come join Michael in the Colure's the thing.
- 4:15Speaker 6: I love jiu jitsu and I've always been interested in it.
- 4:18Speaker 5: I don't think I got the knees for it. My
- 4:21Speaker 5: knees popped.
- 4:22Speaker 4: My ligaments are held together by Hope's dreams and bubble guns.
- 4:27Speaker 6: But I've mine were two and it popped and I
- 4:31Speaker 6: had to get how many surgeries here?
- 4:33Speaker 1: I know? I just walk it off. Oh my god.
- 4:37Speaker 2: People ask we're getting into this because people ask about injury.
- 4:40Speaker 1: But really quick, How I met Donna was?
- 4:43Speaker 2: I started jiu jitsu in October of last year, and
- 4:49Speaker 2: there is there is for me. There was not a
- 4:52Speaker 2: lot of women around in my immediate circle at Tenth
- 4:56Speaker 2: Planet Burbank.
- 4:56Speaker 1: That is slowly changing.
- 4:58Speaker 2: But so I was desperate to find any organization, any
- 5:02Speaker 2: seminar that was taught by a woman in jiu jitsu,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and Donna was the first I saw. Like it's called lockdown,
- 5:09Speaker 2: but it was a seminar where basically Donna was teaching
- 5:12Speaker 2: some jiu jitsu and I was like, I think it
- 5:14Speaker 2: was an hour away and I was like, I'm going.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I went and we immediately clicked, and I was like,
- 5:18Speaker 2: I'm obsessed with this person. Did you are you technically
- 5:22Speaker 2: the founder of tenth Planet Women or no?
- 5:24Speaker 1: How does that work?
- 5:25Speaker 3: Okay? So tenth Planet is its own system, right.
- 5:28Speaker 4: I was one of Eddie's first female students there, Eddie Bravov.
- 5:33Speaker 4: So there's a there's a handful of us, and I'm
- 5:36Speaker 4: I'm me. So I'm like, I'll do that, I'll do this,
- 5:38Speaker 4: you know what I mean. Like I'm always like let
- 5:41Speaker 4: me take yeah over. I'm like take charge type of gal.
- 5:44Speaker 4: So when I became a purple belt, which is so
- 5:49Speaker 4: if we're going by belt rings, you guys are white congratulations, everybody.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Here, I'm a white u.
- 5:54Speaker 5: I have no idea, So.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Okay, so everybody here's a white belt.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Then you get your blue belt, so that makes you
- 6:00Speaker 4: like a freshman, right, and then you get your purple
- 6:03Speaker 4: belt and that's like sophomore brown belt, junior, black belt, senior.
- 6:09Speaker 5: I've seen belts with like black and then red in them.
- 6:12Speaker 5: Is that higher?
- 6:13Speaker 4: Well, that's just because you needed to be able to
- 6:14Speaker 4: They give stripes and gi jiu jitsu they give stripes,
- 6:17Speaker 4: so every four stripes you get to rank up in
- 6:20Speaker 4: tenth planet.
- 6:20Speaker 3: We don't give stripes.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Some schools do, but for the most part, we don't
- 6:23Speaker 4: give stripes. It's just like you kinda hang out for
- 6:25Speaker 4: a couple of years until you get your you know
- 6:27Speaker 4: what I mean, Like children get stripes. As a coach,
- 6:30Speaker 4: I give children stripes because they need the motivation.
- 6:32Speaker 3: But as an adult, like just shi three four years,
- 6:38Speaker 3: how like that's.
- 6:39Speaker 5: Up to you or four years to get a belt.
- 6:42Speaker 4: On average, ten years to get a black belt in
- 6:44Speaker 4: jiu jitsu. So then what you're asking about, like the
- 6:47Speaker 4: red stripe, then that's where you see the stripes.
- 6:49Speaker 1: So as a black belt, every three years.
- 6:52Speaker 4: According to how we do it in tenth Planet, which
- 6:54Speaker 4: is according to how Jean Jaques Machado does it Eddie's coach.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Every three years if you are still training, if you
- 6:59Speaker 4: are still a ruppers any ten planet, if you are
- 7:00Speaker 4: still involved, you get a degree.
- 7:02Speaker 3: So I'm the first degree black belt.
- 7:05Speaker 5: Okay A, So she congratulations on that you.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Got that this year, right?
- 7:11Speaker 4: Or yes, yes, I got my first degree in December,
- 7:15Speaker 4: in December, because I got my black belt in up
- 7:17Speaker 4: right here in December of twenty twenty.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's so exciting.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Before Mark, So going to jiu jitsu is like becoming
- 7:25Speaker 5: a doctor. So here's the story that.
- 7:28Speaker 4: My brother, who is in fact a doctor, got me
- 7:32Speaker 4: into jiu jitsu while he was in medical school. I
- 7:35Speaker 4: am now a first degree black belt. He is still
- 7:38Speaker 4: a white belt, but he's a doctor. Asked, which one
- 7:40Speaker 4: of us strives a better car?
- 7:44Speaker 1: Is it him?
- 7:47Speaker 5: I want to.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Surgery Before we hop into the questions, I really quickly
- 7:55Speaker 2: want to say we're going to do an update from
- 7:56Speaker 2: Lalla and hop into the questions. But I wanted to
- 7:59Speaker 2: say really quickly, how long have you been in jiu jitsu, Donna,
- 8:03Speaker 2: and why did you get started?
- 8:06Speaker 4: I have been in jiu jitsu for sixteen years and
- 8:08Speaker 4: I got started by ACCIDENTE.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Okay, how does that happen?
- 8:13Speaker 3: Well, the brother that I mentioned, what's up?
- 8:15Speaker 1: DJ?
- 8:16Speaker 5: Hey?
- 8:16Speaker 1: DJ?
- 8:17Speaker 4: He So he was taking kickboxing classes. I've always been
- 8:20Speaker 4: a gym rat. My first gym, my first job was
- 8:22Speaker 4: in a gym. You know, always been a gym rat.
- 8:25Speaker 4: And it was circ at the time that it was
- 8:28Speaker 4: two thousand and eight, and that was when UFC was
- 8:30Speaker 4: getting really like commercially popular. So my brother was taking
- 8:34Speaker 4: kickboxing classes near his school. He's going to ASU and
- 8:38Speaker 4: then I guess he heard somehow about a gym in Hollywood.
- 8:43Speaker 3: So he was like, hey, you should go take kickboxing
- 8:44Speaker 3: classes there. It'll be really fun.
- 8:46Speaker 4: And I had taken a few kickboxing classes with him,
- 8:48Speaker 4: and I'd done a little bit of boxing even before that.
- 8:50Speaker 4: But I was a massage therapist, so in like earlier,
- 8:53Speaker 4: I was a massage therapist and then I found boxing.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I used to go take classes at Wildcard over here
- 8:58Speaker 4: in Hollywood, but mass therapy and boxing not a great combination.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Hands yeah, Like my wrists were like pick one right right.
- 9:07Speaker 4: So my brother was like, hey, go go take kickboxing
- 9:10Speaker 4: classes because I got a new job and I wasn't
- 9:13Speaker 4: having to massage as much, and I'm like, cool, I'm in.
- 9:15Speaker 4: So I walk in and I signed up for just
- 9:17Speaker 4: the kickboxing and cardio classes and they were like, oh,
- 9:22Speaker 4: we're gonna like, we're gonna give you a whole membership,
- 9:24Speaker 4: like that's everything, including jiu jitsu.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, no, no, thank you. I
- 9:28Speaker 3: don't know what that is.
- 9:29Speaker 4: But they're like, oh, it's the grappling and I was like, yeah,
- 9:33Speaker 4: no idea.
- 9:34Speaker 3: But I was like, nah, I'm good.
- 9:35Speaker 4: But they're like, you were just gonna go to you anyway,
- 9:37Speaker 4: so you can take classes, and I was like cool.
- 9:38Speaker 4: So I was taking the kickboxing classes and I was
- 9:40Speaker 4: young and single and he's not out and about in
- 9:45Speaker 4: the evenings. But then I was like, wait, this is
- 9:47Speaker 4: way healthier than going to clubs. And then yes, what
- 9:51Speaker 4: happened was afterwards, I was like, wait, how come all
- 9:53Speaker 4: the dudes are showing up to the class after kickbox.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And they were they were cute, like high and you
- 9:58Speaker 1: were like I could roll. Okay you guys, because I
- 10:00Speaker 1: know that's one of the questions.
- 10:01Speaker 3: So yes, yes.
- 10:02Speaker 1: They're they're athlete.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Yes, there's a lot of good looking men who did
- 10:05Speaker 4: ju jitsu when I was young and paying attention at
- 10:08Speaker 4: the time.
- 10:08Speaker 2: So I was like, in, that's why you don't who's
- 10:12Speaker 2: why you should know.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I'm just kidding.
- 10:14Speaker 2: We do not sexualize jiu jitsu here, ladies and gentlemen,
- 10:18Speaker 2: but you.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Can if you do it right, says Okay, I'm learning.
- 10:24Speaker 4: That's That's essentially what happened. Is like one of my
- 10:27Speaker 4: girlfriends who was taking kickboxing at the time, she was like, yeah,
- 10:30Speaker 4: you know Eddie, the guy that teaches, He's like famous.
- 10:32Speaker 4: People come from all over the world to train with him.
- 10:34Speaker 4: And I was like that dude, yeah, And I was
- 10:38Speaker 4: like all right, and then I was like, oh, dudes, okay.
- 10:41Speaker 4: So then I showed up and I remember one guy
- 10:42Speaker 4: showed me how to do a sing a double leg,
- 10:45Speaker 4: which is how you like you drop down on somebody
- 10:47Speaker 4: and you grab both of their legs a double leg,
- 10:49Speaker 4: you pull them in and you knock them on their
- 10:52Speaker 4: I didn't know.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I don't know what you want, you know, I'm not I.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Didn't okay, yeah until this year anyway.
- 10:57Speaker 5: I was about the sexualized version. You can talk about we.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Can talk about it.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I don't know, so that I I.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Remember he showed me that, and I go, I go,
- 11:05Speaker 4: that is information I will never need any time in
- 11:08Speaker 4: my life.
- 11:10Speaker 3: And now I teach those things.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yes, you teach it, you end up you She ended
- 11:15Speaker 2: up using it once.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Maybe we'll get into that story. Maybe we'll save that Donna.
- 11:20Speaker 2: You guys were not going to be able to get
- 11:21Speaker 2: into it on this episode. Donna has the wildest story.
- 11:25Speaker 5: I do have some stories of all I like some
- 11:27Speaker 5: come with the questions.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Where she's used her jiu jitsu in bars needing to
- 11:33Speaker 2: Oh my god, anyway, Okay, so before.
- 11:37Speaker 7: I mean, she sometimes given one example, one quick example
- 11:42Speaker 7: of where you had to use ju outside of it, where.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Did I have to use I'll give you a very
- 11:48Speaker 3: safe one, very like family friend, get.
- 11:50Speaker 5: Charged with I know.
- 11:51Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 11:53Speaker 4: A dog, A dog attacked my dog, so I jumped
- 11:55Speaker 4: on it, rer naked, choked and pulled off my what that's.
- 11:59Speaker 5: What you can do.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Not expect that because you don't. You're not hurting them,
- 12:05Speaker 1: You're just that.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Okay, here's my spiel.
- 12:07Speaker 4: If you guys ever come to one of my self
- 12:08Speaker 4: defense someone ours, you're gonna hear me say this. This
- 12:10Speaker 4: is why jiu jitsu is so good for self defense
- 12:12Speaker 4: because you can hurt somebody, but you also have the
- 12:14Speaker 4: ability to just neutralize the situation without hurting somebody. And
- 12:18Speaker 4: that's why it's so good for women, because even though
- 12:21Speaker 4: I hear stories of men doing horrible things to women,
- 12:26Speaker 4: women always like, I don't want to hurt anybody.
- 12:28Speaker 3: And I'm like why but right, But I'm like.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Okay, cool, I'll teach you how to like shut it
- 12:33Speaker 4: down without hurting somebody.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Quote right, Donna is a very she loves dogs, so
- 12:38Speaker 2: let's not get it twisted you guys. She's not I
- 12:40Speaker 2: would hear reg unless I had to, but you can
- 12:42Speaker 2: show of course. So before we have a lot of
- 12:46Speaker 2: great questions from you guys. We won't be able to
- 12:48Speaker 2: get to them all today, but maybe we'll do, you know,
- 12:51Speaker 2: another another thing with Donna. But before we jump into
- 12:54Speaker 2: the questions, we have another update from our boss, our girl,
- 12:59Speaker 2: miss She's going to give us an update on how
- 13:02Speaker 2: she's doing, how baby Sosa is doing.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So here we go, Hello, my.
- 13:06Speaker 8: Love, I'm here with my babe. I will say, although
- 13:14Speaker 8: we are thriving, I have no complaints. I'm on cloud nine.
- 13:20Speaker 8: I am living for this two kids kind of life.
- 13:24Speaker 9: I'm ready for number three, although my mom tells me
- 13:28Speaker 9: to chill out on that, but I feel like right
- 13:31Speaker 9: after I gave birth, I was like, oh my gosh,
- 13:33Speaker 9: I have so much energy. Look at this new glow.
- 13:35Speaker 9: Oh my gosh, I'm bright out of bushytail. The exhaustion
- 13:39Speaker 9: has sunk in. I am a little tired. I had
- 13:42Speaker 9: a night nurse three days a week. I am now
- 13:44Speaker 9: at seven. That is right, I have one seven nights
- 13:48Speaker 9: a week. Shout out to all of my moms doing
- 13:52Speaker 9: the damn thing because you guys are superheroes. Here's my update.
- 13:57Speaker 9: I love and miss you, and I'll be back on
- 13:59Speaker 9: the pod so soon and I can't wait.
- 14:02Speaker 1: All right, thank you for that, Lala, thank you so
- 14:04Speaker 1: much for that update. We love you, we miss you.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Okay, you guys, So listeners, friends of the pod have
- 14:15Speaker 2: DMed me this past year?
- 14:17Speaker 1: Have we wrote a prompt the other day?
- 14:20Speaker 2: Have written in with some questions for fairness purposes, I'll
- 14:24Speaker 2: start with a couple that I've gotten the past year,
- 14:27Speaker 2: and then we'll hop into the ones that you guys
- 14:29Speaker 2: wrote last night. Again, thank you guys for writing in.
- 14:33Speaker 2: There's a lot and we'll get to as many as
- 14:36Speaker 2: we can. Let's do this number one. This was asked
- 14:40Speaker 2: a lot, and we'll keep these anonymous because there's some
- 14:43Speaker 2: spicy ones. Do you have to do the close contact
- 14:48Speaker 2: rolling around with other people if you join jiu jitsu?
- 14:52Speaker 1: If so, can you pick and choose who you do
- 14:54Speaker 1: it with?
- 14:55Speaker 8: So?
- 14:56Speaker 4: Yes, and yes, Okay, it's a grappling sport. There's no
- 14:59Speaker 4: way you can and there's no way to do jujitsu
- 15:02Speaker 4: without touching other people because the sport is attacking joints
- 15:07Speaker 4: and strangling.
- 15:08Speaker 3: That's the whole sport. So you need other people's joints
- 15:11Speaker 3: to do that.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Yeah, but yes, of course everybody has bodily as autonomy,
- 15:15Speaker 4: So you can choose not to roll with anybody for
- 15:17Speaker 4: whatever reason. If it's just because you're scared, As a coach,
- 15:21Speaker 4: I'll probably push you to roll with people. But if
- 15:23Speaker 4: it's like, you know, here's some certain bad at that.
- 15:27Speaker 4: But in that situation, I'd pull them off and be like, hey,
- 15:29Speaker 4: we gotta address this.
- 15:30Speaker 5: I have to.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Okay, so this might follow it like you tell people
- 15:35Speaker 1: when they smell.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of uncomfortable sometimes, but it's more uncomfortable
- 15:39Speaker 4: to have your face stuck in somebody's eyes.
- 15:40Speaker 3: That's where the comes from.
- 15:43Speaker 4: So yeah, but like there are circumstances that for religious
- 15:47Speaker 4: purposes people can't roll with the opposite sex, or you know,
- 15:50Speaker 4: there are circumstances with somebody's like, hey, my partner doesn't
- 15:52Speaker 4: want me rolling with somebody from the opposite sex. That
- 15:55Speaker 4: is a that is a boundary that you've set in
- 15:57Speaker 4: your life. That's that's fine, Like you know what I mean,
- 16:00Speaker 4: everybody has bodily autonomy, not just people that I feel
- 16:02Speaker 4: like I need to protect, you know what I mean?
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay, So the answer is yes, you guys, yes,
- 16:09Speaker 2: but you do have to come in close contact. But
- 16:13Speaker 2: if you have a coach like donnat or like the
- 16:14Speaker 2: coaches at my gym, Tenth Planet Burbank, they're very respectful.
- 16:18Speaker 3: And here's the thing.
- 16:19Speaker 4: If you're doing it for self defense, and there's a
- 16:21Speaker 4: lot of other reasons that women do jiu jitsu, and
- 16:24Speaker 4: some men only do it for self defense, So just
- 16:26Speaker 4: to say that, but if you are there for the
- 16:29Speaker 4: sake of self defense, I would highly encourage you to
- 16:33Speaker 4: build yourself up to the point where you are willing
- 16:35Speaker 4: to roll with man or else you're never going to
- 16:36Speaker 4: fill it realistically.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Right right, I'm going to say, I'm going to ask
- 16:42Speaker 2: two more that people wrote into me, and the third
- 16:45Speaker 2: one I will trigger warning now is a question, and
- 16:49Speaker 2: I'll just trigger warning SSA, which is sexual assault. Okay,
- 16:54Speaker 2: this next one, I'm a forty six year old woman.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Am I too old to start jiu jitsu?
- 16:59Speaker 5: Now?
- 17:00Speaker 3: No?
- 17:00Speaker 1: No, no, why though? Because jiu jitsu is adaptable for everybody.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Okay, how many stretches do you gotta do before you
- 17:07Speaker 5: see a lot?
- 17:07Speaker 4: I mean at forty six, you have to stretch a
- 17:09Speaker 4: lot more than everybody else, and you have to maybe
- 17:11Speaker 4: pace yourself a little bit more.
- 17:12Speaker 1: But absolutely it's available to everybody.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Okay, there's no age I have too high to learn
- 17:19Speaker 6: self defense?
- 17:19Speaker 5: Right yeah? In jitsu? Yeah? See all right?
- 17:23Speaker 6: I would say, do you teach them different than you
- 17:25Speaker 6: would teach like a twenty five year old or is
- 17:28Speaker 6: it all the same?
- 17:28Speaker 4: I think it's all that's there's just going to be
- 17:30Speaker 4: different levels of gas pedal, you know what I mean,
- 17:33Speaker 4: but all.
- 17:33Speaker 5: The same moves? Yeah, yeah, obviously, Okay, yeah, I.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Mean I probably wouldn't teach somebody in their late fifties
- 17:41Speaker 4: with who's never done anything athletic to I probably wouldn't
- 17:46Speaker 4: start them off with heavy wrestling, right, which you know,
- 17:50Speaker 4: I would definitely teach them defense.
- 17:52Speaker 3: But then I don't know.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Sometimes we'll have like ex athletes who are on the
- 17:57Speaker 4: older end of things will come in and we'll.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Be like, let's go.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it's this is an individual sport. You definitely need
- 18:03Speaker 4: other people's bodies to do it. But everything in jiu
- 18:05Speaker 4: jitsu is individual.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So there are people who.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Train that have they don't have use of their legs.
- 18:09Speaker 4: There are people who train who only have like a
- 18:12Speaker 4: one limb or something like that. So it's adaptable to everybody.
- 18:15Speaker 6: Oh yeah, okay, okay, dainty, but I'm very interested in this.
- 18:20Speaker 1: You should everybody should be doing interesting.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:22Speaker 6: I just have a feeling there's gonna be acls gone,
- 18:25Speaker 6: it happens, and it happens.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Wait, producer John's flagging me down.
- 18:28Speaker 7: We could just trains this one to ask who is
- 18:29Speaker 7: the oldest person you've trained? Or how old was the
- 18:31Speaker 7: person you trained?
- 18:32Speaker 5: Old?
- 18:32Speaker 3: How is how old is the oldest person that I
- 18:34Speaker 3: have trained?
- 18:36Speaker 4: I believe that I've had men in my class in
- 18:38Speaker 4: their sixties, and I want to say.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I don't generally.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Ask people their ages, but I've had women probably yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 4: also in their sixties and my self defense classes.
- 18:50Speaker 5: Yeah, what is a good age to start teaching kids?
- 18:53Speaker 1: Oh, that's a good.
- 18:53Speaker 4: It's a great question. Well, the answer to every question
- 18:57Speaker 4: in the world is it depends. So I have four
- 19:00Speaker 4: year olds that come to our class. I do think
- 19:02Speaker 4: that they it's a little bit of a struggle we
- 19:04Speaker 4: have to make things age appropriate for them. But I
- 19:07Speaker 4: think kids as long as they have the ability to listen,
- 19:11Speaker 4: pay attention.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Follow instruction my sweet spot age.
- 19:16Speaker 4: And if if I got to be the boss of everything,
- 19:19Speaker 4: I would have kids do gymnastics and only wrestling up
- 19:22Speaker 4: until seven. I would start kids in gymnastics around three ish.
- 19:25Speaker 4: I'm not a gymnastics expert. I don't know ask one
- 19:28Speaker 4: of them, but I would start kids in gymnastics around
- 19:31Speaker 4: three or four. I would have them do that and
- 19:33Speaker 4: then start wrestling around five or six, and then have
- 19:36Speaker 4: them start jiu jitsu at seven.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Okay, Okay, I can argue it.
- 19:40Speaker 2: I will say before I get into this next question
- 19:44Speaker 2: really quick, because I want to know if you agree.
- 19:46Speaker 2: A lot of women asking me they were like it
- 19:48Speaker 2: seems overwhelming there's so many terms that like this woman
- 19:52Speaker 2: who's forty six, I am someone who deals with anxiety.
- 19:58Speaker 2: So for me seeing class a jiu jitsu class and
- 20:01Speaker 2: being like, I don't know the terms, I don't know
- 20:03Speaker 2: this for my brain, I thought, before I even start class,
- 20:07Speaker 2: I'm going to and a lot of gyms offer this,
- 20:09Speaker 2: most gyms, I'm going to take a few privates. So
- 20:13Speaker 2: I contacted tenth Planet Burbank. I said, I'm not comfortable
- 20:16Speaker 2: jumping right into class. What is the price of like,
- 20:19Speaker 2: I would like to take a few private lessons before
- 20:21Speaker 2: I jump into class. And it was great because I
- 20:24Speaker 2: had coached Josh Kubera, who's great, and he said, what
- 20:28Speaker 2: are you looking to sort of do before class? And
- 20:31Speaker 2: I said, honestly, like you guys are doing these warm ups,
- 20:33Speaker 2: I just want to know how to warm up in terms,
- 20:36Speaker 2: and he's like, great, we're going to go over that.
- 20:38Speaker 2: I did, I think three privates with him, and then
- 20:41Speaker 2: in each gym has different pricing. But and then when
- 20:45Speaker 2: I jumped into class, I at least knew like the
- 20:48Speaker 2: terms he was using, I knew, So what do you
- 20:51Speaker 2: think do you think, like do you suggest that to
- 20:53Speaker 2: most people if they feel that way.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Yes, I think it's a great idea to do that
- 20:57Speaker 4: and doing approaching it the same way that you did,
- 20:59Speaker 4: like give me terms just so I understand what's going on.
- 21:01Speaker 4: But also a good fundamentals class should cover that if
- 21:05Speaker 4: you stick around, you know what I mean, because we
- 21:07Speaker 4: should be only covering the same four to five things
- 21:10Speaker 4: over and over and over and over and over again.
- 21:12Speaker 4: So if let's say you want to join jiu jitsu,
- 21:15Speaker 4: but that's where your budget is and you can't afford
- 21:17Speaker 4: the extra lessons, focus on the fundamentals class and it
- 21:21Speaker 4: will come. Also, remember this is learning a language with
- 21:24Speaker 4: your body. It takes ten years to get a black
- 21:26Speaker 4: belt in jiu jitsu. Nobody expects you to know shit
- 21:28Speaker 4: for your first year. So that's the coaches know that,
- 21:32Speaker 4: the people who you are training with know that it's
- 21:35Speaker 4: a very long term project.
- 21:39Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:40Speaker 2: But it's really fun and it's frustrating, and anyway I
- 21:43Speaker 2: can go out and it's a blast.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I can go on and on. This next question is
- 21:46Speaker 1: the one I did the trigger warning for.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Okay, So I'm a survivor of sexual assault and I
- 21:52Speaker 2: really want to take jiu jitsu classes to get over
- 21:54Speaker 2: my fear responses and trauma and learn self defense. But
- 21:59Speaker 2: I also don't want to just get thrown into a
- 22:02Speaker 2: class environment where others don't understand that I will be
- 22:06Speaker 2: triggered at first.
- 22:07Speaker 1: What are my options?
- 22:09Speaker 5: This is only private lessons first.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Private lessons are a good way to go.
- 22:12Speaker 4: If there's the luxury of a woman's class, that's a
- 22:14Speaker 4: really good place to start. Also, tell people mm hmm.
- 22:16Speaker 4: You take away power when you tell your story. So
- 22:18Speaker 4: if you're like, hey, I'm super nervous, because all you
- 22:21Speaker 4: have to say is I'm a survivor of something, I
- 22:23Speaker 4: get triggered easily. I'm working my way through it. How
- 22:26Speaker 4: I work with women in my classes are we do
- 22:28Speaker 4: like the two second rule. So if you start to
- 22:31Speaker 4: get triggered to stay two seconds longer then you want to,
- 22:35Speaker 4: then you can tap, get up, go wash your face,
- 22:37Speaker 4: get some air, take a drink of water, walk it off,
- 22:40Speaker 4: come back. The next time, I want you to stay
- 22:41Speaker 4: four seconds longer, then you want to tap, get up,
- 22:44Speaker 4: go out, walk away, same thing. And pretty soon after
- 22:47Speaker 4: those four seconds, six seconds, eight seconds, ten seconds, we
- 22:50Speaker 4: work our way up two minutes and then the next
- 22:52Speaker 4: thing you know, you are sparring against guys for five
- 22:55Speaker 4: to eight minute rounds.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Wow.
- 22:57Speaker 6: Yeah, because I'm the I'm the type of per I
- 22:59Speaker 6: get anxiety and I'd rather lay it out like all
- 23:01Speaker 6: out so everybody can who I am.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Communication judgment, and I would say that that's a huge
- 23:06Speaker 4: thing when women are like, hey, what should I look
- 23:08Speaker 4: for in gyms? Like should it be a certain level
- 23:10Speaker 4: of competition or whatever? And the first thing I always
- 23:12Speaker 4: tell people to look for is how comfortable are you
- 23:14Speaker 4: with the coaches and how comfortable are you with the
- 23:15Speaker 4: people in the room. That's the most important thing. Gee, no, gee,
- 23:18Speaker 4: whatever what team it is, make sure you are comfortable
- 23:21Speaker 4: with the people surrounding you. And if you can't look
- 23:23Speaker 4: at the person next to you and be like, hey,
- 23:25Speaker 4: I might have an anxiety teck if I if I tap,
- 23:27Speaker 4: I need you to get off of me.
- 23:29Speaker 1: If I cry.
- 23:30Speaker 4: There's also been moments I personally have been like, if
- 23:32Speaker 4: I start crying, keep going.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Really, I've never cried in jiu jitsu. I've cried.
- 23:37Speaker 5: I can't. I just can't. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I wouldn't do it to a white like I
- 23:45Speaker 4: wouldn't do it to another new person, But like if
- 23:47Speaker 4: you have a person or a purple belt brown, but
- 23:49Speaker 4: like somebody that you trust, somebody that you've been training with,
- 23:51Speaker 4: if you're like, hey, working through some things. This is
- 23:53Speaker 4: what's coming up for me, and then whatever your whatever
- 23:56Speaker 4: your thing is, Like I might start crying. Keep going
- 23:59Speaker 4: if I start crying, and can you please just not
- 24:01Speaker 4: make a big deal about it, I'm gonna get up
- 24:02Speaker 4: and leave.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Oh I like this a lot communication, baby, communication, in
- 24:07Speaker 2: jiu jitsu, in life.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Okay, I love thank you for that. I love this.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Okay, we're getting into the more recent questions.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Spicy questions, this spicy.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Oh goodness you guys, well you know what. I got
- 24:21Speaker 2: a few of these, so this isn't too spicy. This
- 24:23Speaker 2: will be a quick answer.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Can overweight people do it?
- 24:26Speaker 2: I'm chubby, but I want to try, girl, girl, It
- 24:29Speaker 2: isn't whatever.
- 24:30Speaker 4: In yes, absolutely, jiu jitsu is the most body positive
- 24:36Speaker 4: sport I've ever been a part of. Like it's we
- 24:39Speaker 4: never go you can't do that at your size. The
- 24:41Speaker 4: question is, all right, what weight are you? What weight
- 24:43Speaker 4: do you want to compete up?
- 24:44Speaker 2: Let's go okay, yeah, and you don't have to compete correct,
- 24:48Speaker 2: you don't have to compete, But this is what I'm saying, like,
- 24:50Speaker 2: you absolutely can do it.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Sure? What do they call it? Rolling?
- 24:54Speaker 8: Yea?
- 24:55Speaker 3: Rolling and sparring.
- 24:57Speaker 4: If we're talking about weight, usually it's like what do
- 24:58Speaker 4: you walk at? Meaning what do you walk around at?
- 25:01Speaker 4: And what can you cut to? Those are really the
- 25:02Speaker 4: only conversations about what we're having until you get to
- 25:05Speaker 4: the pro level, then it's where are you going to
- 25:07Speaker 4: perform the best? But if it's just somebody coming to me,
- 25:09Speaker 4: all right, what do you walk at?
- 25:10Speaker 1: Cool?
- 25:10Speaker 4: Are you comfortable competing there? Which I suggest wherever you
- 25:13Speaker 4: walk at is what you do in the beginning, then yeah,
- 25:15Speaker 4: let's go love it.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Okay, are people in your gym allowed to date each other?
- 25:21Speaker 4: Well, adults can do whatever the hell they want, right,
- 25:24Speaker 4: I would say that I'm not allowed to date anybody.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Donna is a coach at South Bay. Just what is
- 25:34Speaker 1: the coach is dating students? Yeah?
- 25:36Speaker 4: Like, okay, every school is going to have their own
- 25:39Speaker 4: rules set by the owner. It is pretty explicit among
- 25:43Speaker 4: our coaches that we do not condone condone them dating students.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Okay, coaches day, coaches.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Don't think any where coaches d coming only girls. That's
- 25:54Speaker 3: not true.
- 25:55Speaker 4: I mean, hey, look, I don't I honestly don't know
- 25:56Speaker 4: what's going on in their personal lives and it's not
- 25:58Speaker 4: in my business. But I would say that they're like
- 26:01Speaker 4: the the stereotype of the coach dating their white belt
- 26:05Speaker 4: is laughable because it's.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Real, you know what I mean.
- 26:08Speaker 1: It's round of course.
- 26:10Speaker 4: But that being said, I know so many couples that
- 26:12Speaker 4: met in jiu jitsu. So my attitude towards it is,
- 26:16Speaker 4: it's two students that are dating each other, Like, be
- 26:18Speaker 4: an adult, be prepared if there's a breakup, Like, how are.
- 26:21Speaker 3: You going to handle this?
- 26:22Speaker 4: Find any one of my coaches dated a student, that'd
- 26:25Speaker 4: be a different conversation.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Really yeah, Okay.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Well if I was a student, I just.
- 26:29Speaker 2: What if one of your coaches dated If a coach
- 26:33Speaker 2: from another gym dates a student from another gym, that's.
- 26:37Speaker 4: Less, that's not of our business. And their adults okay,
- 26:39Speaker 4: okay adult adults.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Well yeah, at that point you can DATESE are.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Just people within the community dating each other.
- 26:45Speaker 4: The thing that is the is where where I come
- 26:48Speaker 4: from with it is the power dynamic, you know what
- 26:50Speaker 4: I mean. So if it's a higher ranked let's go,
- 26:54Speaker 4: it's let's use the stereotype that is usually the problem.
- 26:58Speaker 4: A higher ranked older man dating a younger ish, lower
- 27:03Speaker 4: ranked woman. That's a that's a heavy power dynamic.
- 27:07Speaker 5: So you got to date your belt, that is what
- 27:09Speaker 5: you're saying.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I have to date your belt.
- 27:11Speaker 4: But like, let's say it's it'd be less of a
- 27:14Speaker 4: like a a dangerous power dynamic.
- 27:17Speaker 1: If it's like a blue belt girl who's.
- 27:20Speaker 4: I don't know, thirty and she's dating a white belt
- 27:22Speaker 4: dude who's twenty eight, that's that's less of a power
- 27:26Speaker 4: dynamic there than a thirty nine year old black belt
- 27:29Speaker 4: dating his twenty three year old white belt student.
- 27:32Speaker 3: I see the difference there, almost to.
- 27:34Speaker 7: Give it like a senior dating a freshman.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so much of a power dynamic that like,
- 27:39Speaker 4: but adults can do what adults. Adults can do whatever
- 27:42Speaker 4: they want to do. But we're also running over business
- 27:44Speaker 4: and there's a power dynamic. Sure, absolutely, And there's a
- 27:47Speaker 4: power dynamic, so it's definitely something that we need to
- 27:49Speaker 4: be a whole.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Like look at like he's for sure, okay, I hear you.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I agree. Every gym, I'm sure treats it differently.
- 27:58Speaker 2: But I like going back to just making sure which
- 28:02Speaker 2: you've you. I've dropped into ten Planet itself Bay multiple times.
- 28:06Speaker 2: It's feels so safe, just like ten Plane and Burbing,
- 28:09Speaker 2: just like HQ. Any gym I've dropped into so far
- 28:11Speaker 2: has felt so safe. It is you are in awkward
- 28:15Speaker 2: situations and positions, sometimes with the opposite sex. So making
- 28:20Speaker 2: sure it feels like a safe space and I'm doing
- 28:21Speaker 2: stuff like that is going to help that.
- 28:24Speaker 3: But of course people in jiu jitsu date each other.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Well, it's like the people at work.
- 28:27Speaker 2: It's like when you're surrounded by this person and you
- 28:29Speaker 2: start to know people, and people start to and also
- 28:32Speaker 2: a lot of.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Jiu jitsu men are yeah, I'm not. I can't even
- 28:35Speaker 1: talk about it.
- 28:36Speaker 5: It's that's you freak. I got one for you real quick.
- 28:42Speaker 7: Don Have you ever coached or had a couple in
- 28:44Speaker 7: your class and know that they're fighting when they come in,
- 28:47Speaker 7: Because I've had a summer school class in college. I
- 28:49Speaker 7: sat next to a couple and there was one day
- 28:51Speaker 7: you could tell they were fighting. One sat next week,
- 28:53Speaker 7: the other one sat on the opposite end of the road.
- 28:54Speaker 7: Can you just tell that awkwardness when a couple's fighting
- 28:56Speaker 7: in your class?
- 28:57Speaker 3: Of course, we've had breakups, you pull, most people.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Can can handle their shit, like it's it's been a
- 29:04Speaker 4: minute since there's been like she can't train here, you
- 29:08Speaker 4: can't train her on one of the maronas.
- 29:10Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like, most people can handle it.
- 29:12Speaker 4: We have a couple at our gym, a formal couple
- 29:14Speaker 4: that they broke up, but they and they didn't train
- 29:17Speaker 4: together for a while and now they're friendly.
- 29:18Speaker 3: So it's like, oh, well that's nice.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Right, right, they'll be dating against We'll see.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Okay, this is one, and there was quite a few
- 29:29Speaker 1: of these.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Have you ever gotten aroused while rolling around with a
- 29:33Speaker 2: partner and wanted to take it further?
- 29:36Speaker 1: I could not feel stronger about this, but I want
- 29:38Speaker 1: to hear.
- 29:39Speaker 6: You in your When I saw your question, I turned
- 29:41Speaker 6: into a little fifteen year old boners.
- 29:45Speaker 4: I think it happened in two different ways. Okay, you
- 29:49Speaker 4: obviously you are going to look at athletes in the
- 29:52Speaker 4: sport an objectively be like that is a good looking
- 29:54Speaker 4: human being?
- 29:54Speaker 1: Right? I would say that it goes away the better
- 29:58Speaker 1: you get a jiu jitsu?
- 30:00Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm saying?
- 30:00Speaker 4: Like in the very beginning, when you really don't know
- 30:02Speaker 4: what's happening. Like all you're like, oh my god, this
- 30:03Speaker 4: man is touching.
- 30:04Speaker 5: You know what I mean.
- 30:06Speaker 4: But when you get better jujitsu and you're playing the
- 30:09Speaker 4: game and you're doing the thing, I'm trying to kill you.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Yes right, I don't care how good looking you are.
- 30:15Speaker 3: I'm trying to kill you.
- 30:16Speaker 1: And she does too.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Like the second I rolled with Donna last weekend, I
- 30:19Speaker 2: mean she puts one hand in me, I'm like, oh
- 30:21Speaker 2: my god.
- 30:21Speaker 5: Out okay.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I have a completely different viewpoint you guys at first,
- 30:31Speaker 2: and I'll probably again. I'm literally a white belt. I
- 30:33Speaker 2: know nothing about jiu jitsu. I know a few things.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I could not have been less aroused, even if the
- 30:40Speaker 2: guy was so hot, Like I could look at them
- 30:42Speaker 2: and be like, oh my god, so hot. I'm so
- 30:45Speaker 2: like not good at jiu jitsu and clumsy and like
- 30:48Speaker 2: bad at the movements and positions. The second I'm rolling
- 30:51Speaker 2: with a hot guy, I'm like, I'm dry as a
- 30:55Speaker 2: bone down there.
- 30:56Speaker 1: I am not turned on. I am not aroused.
- 30:58Speaker 4: Here's how you the analogy of that, Like, let's say,
- 31:01Speaker 4: like your type the best looking person in the world
- 31:05Speaker 4: is you're in a pool. You're in a pool and
- 31:07Speaker 4: they're off to the side of the pool and all
- 31:09Speaker 4: of a sudden, something from underneath grabs your feet and
- 31:12Speaker 4: is trying to drown you in the pool.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Are you are you like like you're trying, You're trying
- 31:18Speaker 1: not to die.
- 31:18Speaker 3: You're not like, oh my.
- 31:19Speaker 1: God, that person has you know what I mean? Like, like,
- 31:22Speaker 1: how do I look? How do I look?
- 31:23Speaker 3: You're like, don't die, don't die, don't die.
- 31:25Speaker 4: And that's that's usually the inner dialogue from year one
- 31:28Speaker 4: to about year three.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Don't die, don't die, don't die. Defense get on top,
- 31:34Speaker 1: get on top, don't do that, don't do that.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Literally no, but that is my that is my and
- 31:41Speaker 2: like this second and I can like really look and
- 31:43Speaker 2: be like damn there hot this second, I'm rolling with them.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Not only am I trying to survive. Yes, I literally
- 31:49Speaker 2: have never looked uglier.
- 31:51Speaker 1: In my life. I will see videos and be like,
- 31:53Speaker 1: who is that monster? Oh my god, that's me.
- 31:56Speaker 3: I've never.
- 31:59Speaker 5: Contact and you're rolling with the guy or girl.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Okay, so I ask you because it's different for me.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Okay, So for me, I never weird thing, never make
- 32:08Speaker 2: eye I never make eye contact with them in my head.
- 32:11Speaker 2: But I saw my first competition video footage, and for
- 32:14Speaker 2: some reason, I am staring these girls in the.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Eyes like I looked at myself with a blackout girl.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Look away, look away. You are embarrassing yourself. What about you, Donna?
- 32:24Speaker 3: It depends.
- 32:24Speaker 4: It depends on who I'm rolling with. If it is
- 32:26Speaker 4: somebody with you're attracted to, No, it's somebody with my
- 32:30Speaker 4: equal skill level and we're having a fun roll.
- 32:35Speaker 3: I will make eye contact with you to fuck with you.
- 32:36Speaker 4: The same thing they will make eye contact with me
- 32:38Speaker 4: to fuck with me and like talk shit. If it's
- 32:40Speaker 4: somebody I don't you know you don't look at.
- 32:43Speaker 3: People when you compete?
- 32:44Speaker 5: Can you wear goggles?
- 32:46Speaker 3: Goggles?
- 32:46Speaker 5: I would I didn't mind, so they couldn't see my eyes.
- 32:50Speaker 4: So I would say I only look at people in
- 32:51Speaker 4: the eye for two reasons. If we are talking, we
- 32:54Speaker 4: are collectively in a fun way talking shit to each other.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Or what was the other one there was working?
- 33:00Speaker 5: Fucking's he read?
- 33:01Speaker 3: No, it'll come to me. I don't know. There's another reason.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Maybe no, Ethan's really trying to push this like jiu
- 33:11Speaker 2: jitsu a track.
- 33:11Speaker 5: I couldn't do it because I'd just be rolling. I'd
- 33:13Speaker 5: see him in the eyes and i'd be like, you
- 33:15Speaker 5: think that.
- 33:15Speaker 2: I thought that when I first started. I told my
- 33:18Speaker 2: coach I called believe it.
- 33:19Speaker 4: Looking at it like you can be like, oh my god,
- 33:22Speaker 4: they're like practically sitting on your chest is kind of hot.
- 33:25Speaker 3: No, it's not, I promise.
- 33:27Speaker 1: And people smell and their swell perfect.
- 33:30Speaker 3: And you're trying to drown and break their limbs. I promise.
- 33:33Speaker 3: When somebody's trying to break your arm, you're not like
- 33:35Speaker 3: they're so good looking.
- 33:36Speaker 8: No.
- 33:37Speaker 2: In fact, I'm like, Okay, I thought this guy was hot,
- 33:39Speaker 2: and now fuck this guy.
- 33:40Speaker 1: I'm pissed. Now you really want it?
- 33:43Speaker 2: Okay, So we're gonna because I want to get into
- 33:47Speaker 2: the Liasa story and then we've got some things to
- 33:49Speaker 2: get into.
- 33:50Speaker 4: So well, and you have a spicy thing to say
- 33:52Speaker 4: about let's hear it. Give us a spice again. Once
- 33:55Speaker 4: you get good at jiu jitsu, it's not the same
- 33:59Speaker 4: when you're having spike see time. However, you can use
- 34:01Speaker 4: jiu jitsu moves incorporated.
- 34:04Speaker 1: In the bedroom.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I've done it, ladies and gentlemen, and by golly,
- 34:08Speaker 2: it's a game changer. Yeah, lockdown comes and help you lockdown, guys.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Lockdown with your legs. Is Don is the queen of lockdown.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I tried to put her in it last weekend and
- 34:17Speaker 2: she was like, you're really gonna try and lockdown me.
- 34:20Speaker 4: Lockdown is when you lock down somebody's legs, how to
- 34:23Speaker 4: trap their leg in between your legs and so if
- 34:25Speaker 4: you think about the positioning, usually.
- 34:27Speaker 1: It's butterfly hooks, Like you can use butterfly hooks.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Butterfly hookses when you take the top of your foot
- 34:31Speaker 4: and you can clamp onto somebody, so moving them around,
- 34:34Speaker 4: and then like if you've been tossed by somebody.
- 34:36Speaker 3: My husband's a.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Purple belt, so like he can toss me pretty easily.
- 34:39Speaker 1: He's at.
- 34:42Speaker 3: All I'm saying is uh.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I've used the phrase sex jujitsu before.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Stop.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Have you ever done jiu jitsu naked? Or you can
- 34:50Speaker 1: say no? Comment uh?
- 34:51Speaker 3: I mean pretty much.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 34:53Speaker 4: I can say that my husband and I have incorporated
- 34:56Speaker 4: sex jiu jitsu into sex.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Okay and choking Chuck, I'm not You're not into choking?
- 35:02Speaker 4: No, I do violence for a living. I don't want
- 35:04Speaker 4: you know what I mean? Like, right, I welcome.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Sweeps, Okay, sweeps are it would be.
- 35:09Speaker 3: When I go from the bottom to the top and
- 35:11Speaker 3: it's done in a very like it's.
- 35:12Speaker 5: Like with your tongue.
- 35:13Speaker 3: No, if I'm.
- 35:17Speaker 4: Asshold of giant, if you are underneath me and I'm
- 35:20Speaker 4: on top of you, A sweep is a very quick
- 35:23Speaker 4: motion where you would switch the positions.
- 35:25Speaker 2: But it's like it's like so smooth and beautiful. And
- 35:29Speaker 2: I will say you, guys, I was never into Let
- 35:33Speaker 2: me preface when I say choking, I mean very light,
- 35:37Speaker 2: no pass it. I was never into choking. In the bedroom,
- 35:40Speaker 2: you put your hand on my neck, I'm like, get
- 35:41Speaker 2: away after jiu jitsu though, because I'm comfortable with that
- 35:44Speaker 2: stuff now, I'm like, oh.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Baby, put it around my neck.
- 35:51Speaker 4: If you do get you build up a tolerance to
- 35:54Speaker 4: last week of the invasion, that little girl jumped on
- 35:56Speaker 4: my back and at one point I was having a
- 35:58Speaker 4: conversation with her mom. She started choking me and they
- 36:00Speaker 4: were like, that doesn't phase you, and I was like,
- 36:03Speaker 4: oh yeah, no, yah do for.
- 36:06Speaker 2: A living Okay, let's for question wise. We're gonna end
- 36:10Speaker 2: on ahead. How has or it says has jiu jitsu
- 36:15Speaker 2: helped with your mental health?
- 36:17Speaker 1: And if so, how so?
- 36:19Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 36:20Speaker 4: It helps you stay present in a way that nothing
- 36:23Speaker 4: else I've ever experienced. Can you can't be worried about
- 36:26Speaker 4: did I pay my phone bill? Or oh my god,
- 36:29Speaker 4: you know there's a leak in my bathroom, because you're
- 36:31Speaker 4: trying to survive death. You are trying to fight off
- 36:33Speaker 4: somebody trying to break your arm or choke you, or
- 36:37Speaker 4: grab your foot.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Or you know, take you down.
- 36:38Speaker 4: So it helps you stay present in a way that
- 36:41Speaker 4: nothing else I've ever experienced does. And yeah, that and aggression,
- 36:47Speaker 4: like it's a really sick we welcome it. We welcome aggression.
- 36:49Speaker 4: So you get to come and get all of the
- 36:52Speaker 4: aggression that you fill out in the world. You get
- 36:54Speaker 4: to come fight off death for a couple hours, and
- 36:57Speaker 4: there's no way you don't walk out of that.
- 36:58Speaker 6: Like, but I feel like it takes the anxiety away
- 37:01Speaker 6: of like if something does happen, then you don't know
- 37:03Speaker 6: how to defend yourself, so now you do, so that
- 37:05Speaker 6: anxiety's gone of the day.
- 37:08Speaker 1: One hundred percent.
- 37:09Speaker 2: It helps you with First, Yes, for me, I'm sitting
- 37:14Speaker 2: there sometimes and you're under I'm under a one hundred
- 37:17Speaker 2: and eighty pound man, and I'm getting choked, and I'm like,
- 37:20Speaker 2: and I tell myself, just breathe you don't have to
- 37:22Speaker 2: tap out right now, just breathe. And then I take
- 37:24Speaker 2: it into life where I'm like so stressed and I
- 37:27Speaker 2: feel like I'm going to lose my mind, and then
- 37:29Speaker 2: I'm like, just breathe, like relax, breathe, move on to
- 37:32Speaker 2: one thing at a time, stay present.
- 37:34Speaker 1: It has truly helped me every day.
- 37:36Speaker 4: I went scuba diving for the first time. You did
- 37:39Speaker 4: Scooba lesson, and I put my head under and immediately
- 37:42Speaker 4: I went into jiu jitsu mode. I was like, oh,
- 37:44Speaker 4: like I wanted to panic because my heads under the water,
- 37:46Speaker 4: and like, you know what I mean, I've never done that,
- 37:48Speaker 4: And all of a sudden, I was like, oh jujitsu mode,
- 37:49Speaker 4: and I was fine, and I came back up and
- 37:51Speaker 4: the guy was like, oh, you've done juj You've done
- 37:54Speaker 4: this before, and I go, no, I do jiu jitsu,
- 37:55Speaker 4: and he goes, oh yeah, yeah, it.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Was like you saw it. Yes.
- 37:59Speaker 2: It very much helps Easton when at some point I
- 38:02Speaker 2: want to get you to take a class.
- 38:03Speaker 6: Even though I would be down, because I like the
- 38:05Speaker 6: mental point of it as well.
- 38:07Speaker 5: That's the thing you can kind of goose fraba in
- 38:10Speaker 5: very goose. Guys have never heard that in Anger Management.
- 38:14Speaker 6: No, yeah, n no, Jack Nicholson, Nicholas Jack nickl.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Jack Nicholson, Anger Management.
- 38:24Speaker 6: And the guy's freaking out and he goes goose fraba.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 38:31Speaker 6: Yeah, but yeah no, I like that's where I like
- 38:34Speaker 6: that mental where you're getting number one, you learn to
- 38:37Speaker 6: defend yourself, and then number two you're getting like longevity
- 38:41Speaker 6: of mental, pushing yourself to four eight.
- 38:45Speaker 4: Not to bite too much off. There's a small podcaster
- 38:48Speaker 4: name Joe Rogan.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Ever heard him?
- 38:50Speaker 1: I've never heard of that.
- 38:51Speaker 3: Joe little tiny. But Joe is also a tenth on
- 38:53Speaker 3: a black belt.
- 38:54Speaker 2: I don't know if you know, I do know got
- 38:56Speaker 2: he got his black belt at tenth ave.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Hover but not to fight off him too much.
- 39:01Speaker 4: But it's a very accurate statement that Joe is like,
- 39:04Speaker 4: you learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable. You also because
- 39:08Speaker 4: jiu jitsu is like driving a car downhill with no
- 39:11Speaker 4: breaks while wrestling a baby bear.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Fun.
- 39:15Speaker 3: That's the quote.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's true, it's true, but you can manage.
- 39:20Speaker 4: It, but you learn to be like, yeah, I got it,
- 39:22Speaker 4: that's fun.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh my god.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Okay, so you guys, before we get in to I Donna,
- 39:32Speaker 2: I just want you to mention a couple organizations you're
- 39:34Speaker 2: part of, and then I would like you to get
- 39:36Speaker 2: into before we get into ach and relief. You have
- 39:39Speaker 2: a very strong feelings on me almost getting abducted by
- 39:43Speaker 2: the guy in the van and Lisa's bow tying incident.
- 39:46Speaker 1: So can you tell us a few of the.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Organizations you're part of and sort of our listeners are
- 39:50Speaker 2: amazing in fars as far as they're like, oh my god,
- 39:54Speaker 2: I want to help, I want to look it up,
- 39:55Speaker 2: I want to share.
- 39:56Speaker 1: So yeah.
- 39:57Speaker 4: So the organizations that I have directly under me, I
- 40:02Speaker 4: certify coaches, self defense coaches under tenth Plant, Women's Self
- 40:06Speaker 4: Defense or the Women's Self Defense Network. I started the
- 40:08Speaker 4: Women's Self Defense Network as a way of women anywhere
- 40:12Speaker 4: for them to be able to find a coach near
- 40:14Speaker 4: them that is safe to train with. Okay, so women
- 40:16Speaker 4: come to me and they're either certified under me or
- 40:18Speaker 4: I've done a background check on them, and I can say, yes,
- 40:20Speaker 4: this is a safe woman for you to go train with.
- 40:22Speaker 1: All over the US, over the world, all of the world.
- 40:25Speaker 2: So if someone wants to is there would they hit
- 40:28Speaker 2: you up on Instagram?
- 40:29Speaker 1: What if they're like, I want to find a coach,
- 40:31Speaker 1: Ye I can.
- 40:32Speaker 4: So I have a website called the Women's Self Defense Network.
- 40:34Speaker 4: I think I have about thirty something coaches, most of
- 40:38Speaker 4: them in the United States, but coaches from other places too,
- 40:41Speaker 4: and my goal is to build that yeah and have
- 40:43Speaker 4: it just be a huge database of self defense coaches
- 40:46Speaker 4: for women. And it's not just jiu jitsu, it's other
- 40:48Speaker 4: types of martial arts that we have a firearm instructor
- 40:51Speaker 4: on there. So it's women's self defense. It is how
- 40:54Speaker 4: can I find a woman to train with near me?
- 40:56Speaker 4: And hopefully I will get enough women listen on that
- 40:58Speaker 4: the women anywhere can find somebody. We also have ten
- 41:00Speaker 4: Planet Women's Self Defense, which is mainly it's me and Lilah.
- 41:04Speaker 4: We started it as like self defense coaches, and we
- 41:06Speaker 4: teach seminars all over everywhere, and Lilah's co owner of
- 41:10Speaker 4: ten Planet Paspacity, and I've worked with Generate Hope, which
- 41:15Speaker 4: is an organization that saves women from human trafficking. I
- 41:19Speaker 4: also work with Mayor's House in La Joya, which helps
- 41:23Speaker 4: women in substance recovery.
- 41:25Speaker 3: And so how that relates is a.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Huge amount of women who are have addiction issues, have
- 41:33Speaker 4: also been sexually assaulted. And also it's the empowerment. It's
- 41:37Speaker 4: getting back in touch with your body. It's like learning
- 41:40Speaker 4: to be present in your body. So all of those
- 41:42Speaker 4: things are relevant.
- 41:43Speaker 1: That's incredible, thankful for women like you, truly.
- 41:47Speaker 2: So if anyone, I mean obviously, reach out to Donna
- 41:49Speaker 2: over Instagram, check out her websites.
- 41:53Speaker 1: All of that.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Let's quickly before our aches and reliefs, can you please
- 41:57Speaker 2: tell us why you felt so strongly about me and
- 42:00Speaker 2: the guy in the van. Reminder you, guys, this was
- 42:03Speaker 2: a couple episodes ago, but I basically he came up
- 42:06Speaker 2: to me. He said he needed a jump, and Lisa
- 42:08Speaker 2: was like, absolutely not and then the guy zoomed off. Yeah,
- 42:12Speaker 2: so what do you feel about? Do you think I
- 42:13Speaker 2: was actually almost taken.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Or one thousand percent?
- 42:17Speaker 1: Donna?
- 42:18Speaker 4: Okay, here's the thing, ladies, ladies and children listen up
- 42:21Speaker 4: and people with children. Men don't ask women for help,
- 42:24Speaker 4: especially not in public.
- 42:25Speaker 5: That is so fucking true.
- 42:27Speaker 3: I know, Oh my.
- 42:27Speaker 1: God, I just gotta spell.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Yes, men don't ask women for help. And if you
- 42:31Speaker 4: want to know the somebody, the intention that somebody has
- 42:35Speaker 4: towards you, give them an immediate boundary and if they
- 42:37Speaker 4: cross it, then you know that you can. I call
- 42:40Speaker 4: it switching the bitch switch. My bitch switch is on
- 42:42Speaker 4: a hair trigger. So you have to figure out where
- 42:44Speaker 4: you're comfortable with your bitch switches. But something that you
- 42:47Speaker 4: can do in the situation where you are in Jessica
- 42:49Speaker 4: is immediately bring in another person, probably a man. Oh,
- 42:52Speaker 4: I would be more than happy to give you a jump.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Let me go get rab my boyfriend. He's right around
- 42:56Speaker 4: the corner. And if the guy was like, oh, thanks,
- 42:58Speaker 4: that'd be awesome, then he actually needed help. And if
- 43:00Speaker 4: he was like, no, he doesn't want your.
- 43:02Speaker 5: Help, because here's it.
- 43:03Speaker 6: And it's not like I would never ask a woman
- 43:05Speaker 6: for help because I know that asking them puts them
- 43:08Speaker 6: in such an awkward position, like I don't want to
- 43:11Speaker 6: put them so I feel like that and I feel
- 43:13Speaker 6: like I'm a good dude. But I would never ask
- 43:15Speaker 6: a girl unless I fucking needed it to help me,
- 43:18Speaker 6: not because I don't think they can do it. I
- 43:20Speaker 6: don't want to put them in a fucking weird position.
- 43:22Speaker 6: Are aware, Like I don't even ask for your help.
- 43:25Speaker 6: I would say do you have a boyfriend or do
- 43:27Speaker 6: you know that's usually hot.
- 43:28Speaker 4: Yeah, men, and he's just to your children. Adult men
- 43:31Speaker 4: do not ask children for help, your.
- 43:35Speaker 5: Parents if you're fucking alone. But other than that, like no.
- 43:38Speaker 4: Most adult men will be like, where's your adult Like please?
- 43:43Speaker 4: Fucking men don't ask women for help. So that's a
- 43:46Speaker 4: red flag. And if somebody, if you're if you ever
- 43:48Speaker 4: want to know somebody's intention, like, let's say a man
- 43:50Speaker 4: is walking towards you and all of a sudden, your
- 43:52Speaker 4: your gut kicks in, do one of these stop right there?
- 43:56Speaker 1: If he stops, he's at least.
- 43:58Speaker 4: Willing to listen to what you have to say, and
- 44:00Speaker 4: you can set some boundaries with him. If he walks
- 44:02Speaker 4: right through that.
- 44:03Speaker 5: You you need to.
- 44:05Speaker 1: It's a red flag. It's a red flag.
- 44:07Speaker 4: You know, obviously can't speak for every single situation, but
- 44:10Speaker 4: it's a red flag. If you set immediate boundaries with
- 44:13Speaker 4: somebody and they do not respect them, they will continue
- 44:16Speaker 4: to like cross lines with you.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Damn, that is so important to hear And the fact
- 44:21Speaker 2: that it hit me so hard that you said that,
- 44:24Speaker 2: and I'm thirty three years old. Yeah, like hear that, women, children,
- 44:29Speaker 2: all of it.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Yeah, what about the most yea at least a story.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Same thing with the boundaries.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Your mom did a great job with it by not
- 44:36Speaker 4: giving them something to argue about. That doesn't really make
- 44:38Speaker 4: me comfortable? Can you remind us? So it was a
- 44:40Speaker 4: woman who asked her to put a bow in her hair.
- 44:44Speaker 4: All you have to be is that doesn't really make
- 44:45Speaker 4: me comfortable. You just gave an adult person a boundary. Okay,
- 44:48Speaker 4: watch how they respond.
- 44:49Speaker 1: To it, and if they keep pushing, then that's.
- 44:52Speaker 4: Something if you like, go back and look at some
- 44:53Speaker 4: of my Instagram things. I do like these little one
- 44:55Speaker 4: minute motivations. One thing that I wish women would learn
- 44:59Speaker 4: how to say is you are making me uncomfortable, because
- 45:01Speaker 4: a decent person will listen to you say that and
- 45:04Speaker 4: immediately acknowledge it. I'm sorry, right.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Damn oh, I love you.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Okay, wait you guys, before I can relieve Donna, what
- 45:14Speaker 2: are you gonna.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Teach Easton or me? By the way, I'm a dummy.
- 45:18Speaker 2: So he can do if you're teaching rear naked choke,
- 45:20Speaker 2: he can do it to me. Or is there something
- 45:22Speaker 2: you're like everyone should know how to do this?
- 45:24Speaker 1: What are you thinking? I don't think there's a move
- 45:26Speaker 1: that like is like I don't.
- 45:28Speaker 4: That's a that's a big thing. Okay, that's the one
- 45:30Speaker 4: thing that I need to know. You need to know
- 45:32Speaker 4: all of juice, all of it.
- 45:33Speaker 3: I don't know, Easton, What is there a body part
- 45:35Speaker 3: that you want to learn how to break?
- 45:37Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Like, I don't know. Like, could we see if you
- 45:43Speaker 5: get jokes.
- 45:45Speaker 3: A wrist? Okay?
- 45:47Speaker 1: So okay, so.
- 45:50Speaker 3: The cameras on.
- 45:51Speaker 4: Okay, So look, here's Eastern bigger and stronger than me.
- 45:54Speaker 4: He's always going to be bigger and stronger than me.
- 45:56Speaker 1: I will probably never get.
- 45:58Speaker 4: I will probably never get to win in a size
- 46:01Speaker 4: I probably I'm five ft one, so trust me. Okay,
- 46:07Speaker 4: if I'm never going to be able to be stronger
- 46:09Speaker 4: than you, but I can be smarter than the structure
- 46:12Speaker 4: of your body.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Fair. So let's say I'm just gonna let's.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Say you just grab it.
- 46:17Speaker 5: I'm coming to grab you.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Can you guys see this?
- 46:19Speaker 5: Okay?
- 46:19Speaker 1: So all girls, ladies.
- 46:22Speaker 4: People, if you've ever been like at a night clever
- 46:24Speaker 4: or a party or whatever it needs to get let
- 46:27Speaker 4: me talk to you. Let me talk to you the camere,
- 46:29Speaker 4: let me talk to you group. Right, So if we
- 46:31Speaker 4: just get into a tug of war.
- 46:32Speaker 3: You're gonna win. You're gonna when you're because you're bigger
- 46:34Speaker 3: and stronger than me.
- 46:35Speaker 4: But if I can turn my thumb towards the opening
- 46:39Speaker 4: of your fingers and I can take my elbow and
- 46:42Speaker 4: put it on your watch, what's gonna happen is I
- 46:44Speaker 4: am going.
- 46:45Speaker 3: To go for the weak part of your wrist. Then
- 46:48Speaker 3: you won't be able to hold on to me.
- 46:49Speaker 1: So you're gonna bop hold on to me.
- 46:53Speaker 5: And I really am.
- 46:59Speaker 4: No that fuck, because the human wrist only been so
- 47:01Speaker 4: far no matter how big and strong you are.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Now, if you're standing up, can we stand up?
- 47:05Speaker 5: Can you? Yeah?
- 47:05Speaker 3: You got something?
- 47:06Speaker 1: Okay, you can know you can take them off?
- 47:09Speaker 3: Okay, so come here. See I'm a midget.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Wait they can see. Oh my god, look how Georgie.
- 47:18Speaker 3: No, stand up? That's fine.
- 47:20Speaker 5: So I'm coming to take.
- 47:22Speaker 4: You and no, it's like I will let me talk
- 47:24Speaker 4: to your situation, right, So just stay right there.
- 47:26Speaker 3: If I can.
- 47:27Speaker 4: Close the distance between your wrist and your body, I
- 47:30Speaker 4: can take away how strong you are. So I'm just
- 47:32Speaker 4: gonna keep walking towards you until I can put my
- 47:34Speaker 4: elbow on your watch.
- 47:36Speaker 1: And then you're gonna what and then I'm gonna I.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Call that the excuse.
- 47:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 47:42Speaker 4: So, like if you've ever come to any of myself
- 47:44Speaker 4: seminars self defense, seminars Defense seminar, I call this the
- 47:50Speaker 4: excuse me, sir. You gotta hey, let me talk to you. Right,
- 47:53Speaker 4: I'm gonna move closer. I'm going to put my elbow
- 47:57Speaker 4: on your watch.
- 47:58Speaker 10: Oh, she though, And I like that because if they
- 48:03Speaker 10: think they got you, and then once you do that,
- 48:05Speaker 10: it's almost like a switch where you're like, oh my god,
- 48:07Speaker 10: she's kind of crazy, where you don't want to go
- 48:09Speaker 10: back and go, well, no.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Fucking came here.
- 48:11Speaker 4: Like if you turn around and like you're happy with
- 48:14Speaker 4: what you're saying, that also kind.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Of works in your favor.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Have ever told you how I met my husband?
- 48:18Speaker 4: I'll leave you guys on this because it'll give you
- 48:20Speaker 4: a good idea of my personality. I met my husband
- 48:25Speaker 4: at a bar because I kicked him.
- 48:28Speaker 1: What do you mean walk past me?
- 48:30Speaker 4: Yes, karate, he walked past me and I saw him
- 48:32Speaker 4: and I was like, yes, and so I just I
- 48:34Speaker 4: reached over and I just I like, I like, I
- 48:38Speaker 4: kicked him pretty hard and he turned around. My husband's
- 48:40Speaker 4: like he's a beefy guy. He is big, and he
- 48:43Speaker 4: turned around.
- 48:44Speaker 3: He goes, excuse me, miss, you just kicked me.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I know.
- 48:49Speaker 5: I would have.
- 48:52Speaker 6: Oh, I would have needed to change my shirts. I
- 48:55Speaker 6: don't like this is the one I just walked through.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Nobody touches me.
- 49:00Speaker 1: That's cute. I got that.
- 49:03Speaker 5: That's a good meat story.
- 49:04Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 49:05Speaker 1: That is so okay.
- 49:06Speaker 2: So before we get into ake and relieve you guys,
- 49:08Speaker 2: I want to mention, well, I need to do another
- 49:11Speaker 2: thing with you, Donna.
- 49:12Speaker 1: This was so fun.
- 49:12Speaker 2: But she you host the Femvasions, so keep up with
- 49:16Speaker 2: I always share them. The Femvasians is basically just like
- 49:19Speaker 2: a well you quickly say what it is.
- 49:21Speaker 4: The Invasion is a three day women's jiu jitsu camp
- 49:25Speaker 4: and you are going to come and train with some
- 49:27Speaker 4: amazing women. It's always taught by tenth Planet black belt women.
- 49:30Speaker 4: There's only twenty six women in the world that have
- 49:32Speaker 4: tenth Planet black belts. So each camp we have we
- 49:35Speaker 4: feature different coaches and it's three days. But the most
- 49:38Speaker 4: important part is the sisterhood that comes out of it.
- 49:40Speaker 4: You come like you were there last weekend. It's just
- 49:42Speaker 4: like this amazing vibe of like doing jiu jitsu all
- 49:45Speaker 4: weekend and meeting girls and like because most of the
- 49:47Speaker 4: time women start jiu jitsu and they're the only one.
- 49:50Speaker 4: There's like three or something like that, and it's really
- 49:53Speaker 4: lonely when you're like the white belt girl. And it's
- 49:56Speaker 4: really also hard when you're when you're tiny because you
- 49:58Speaker 4: don't have a lot of training partners. Myself, Leilasmanja, and
- 50:02Speaker 4: Heather Joe Clark all started this camp so that we
- 50:05Speaker 4: could provide a place for the community of women. And
- 50:08Speaker 4: it was really a very selfish way to bring the
- 50:10Speaker 4: tenth Planet of black belt women together. We were just like,
- 50:12Speaker 4: how can we get everybody together in so we can
- 50:15Speaker 4: hang out. And we were like, let's let's create the
- 50:19Speaker 4: space for all the women of tenth Planet and all
- 50:20Speaker 4: the women of jujitsu, Like women can come who don't
- 50:22Speaker 4: train a tenth Planet, just so.
- 50:24Speaker 1: That we have the like this cool sisterhood club.
- 50:26Speaker 2: It's beginner friendly, like I said, right, I mean you
- 50:30Speaker 2: can all the teachers and the coaches are amazing, so
- 50:34Speaker 2: beginner friendly for sure.
- 50:35Speaker 1: It was a lot of fun. We'll keep you guys updated.
- 50:38Speaker 2: We're gonna pop into the aches and reliefs of the week.
- 50:42Speaker 2: I gave Donna heads up. She's I mean, she's a
- 50:44Speaker 2: listener obviously, so she knows. But Easton, Well, we usually
- 50:50Speaker 2: do our guests last, so you guys can have a
- 50:52Speaker 2: beat to think, so we can start with you me,
- 50:54Speaker 2: and then we'll do Donna.
- 50:55Speaker 6: Okay, my ache has been this heat. I can there's
- 50:59Speaker 6: just nothing that I can do. I walk outside, I'm tired, the.
- 51:03Speaker 5: Sleeping is hot.
- 51:04Speaker 6: So this heat has really stuff, a whole lot of stuff.
- 51:07Speaker 6: I just got no energy.
- 51:09Speaker 5: So that's my egg. But it's getting cooler, so here
- 51:11Speaker 5: we go. And then my relief is baby.
- 51:14Speaker 6: Oh baby, we can say it right, So yeah, it's
- 51:19Speaker 6: so Sosa, so so her name, so she's the best.
- 51:24Speaker 5: That's my relief.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Stunning, Okay, I love that. My ache of the week.
- 51:30Speaker 2: You guys, it's the twenty fifth, so I will be.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Competing again on Sunday.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Yes, who grappling eggs temeculate it's fart but so that's
- 51:39Speaker 2: not an ache. But I'm assuming by now I will
- 51:43Speaker 2: be maybe a little achy. So hopefully I just take
- 51:47Speaker 2: my gummies and I can chill and I'm excited.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Donna, it can relieve.
- 51:52Speaker 4: Just to be clear, the eggs are like super first
- 51:54Speaker 4: worldy problems right, oh one hundred.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Oh, I'm just making sure usually, so.
- 52:00Speaker 4: My ache is I am I'm so exhausted because there's
- 52:03Speaker 4: so many amazing things happening, Like like.
- 52:10Speaker 3: I'm all puppy right now.
- 52:11Speaker 1: I'm so because you've just been doing so many fun.
- 52:14Speaker 3: Things, so many things going on.
- 52:15Speaker 4: I had to drive up for this podcast to buy
- 52:18Speaker 4: a new car this week, but I am puffy because
- 52:24Speaker 4: of that.
- 52:24Speaker 8: So.
- 52:26Speaker 3: Thank you. So that's.
- 52:30Speaker 4: My god, all those things too, Like there's I am
- 52:37Speaker 4: so grateful. There's so many amazing things happening in my
- 52:39Speaker 4: life right now. Invasion happened. My husband and I got
- 52:44Speaker 4: a new car. He was by drunk driver, so the.
- 52:46Speaker 1: Bad, bad bad, but he's okay.
- 52:48Speaker 4: He's okay, but we got a new car, so I'm like,
- 52:52Speaker 4: don't drink and drive you days, don't And then you know,
- 52:55Speaker 4: I got to come in here and hang out with
- 52:57Speaker 4: you guys today and were sitting in the world, so
- 52:59Speaker 4: like good.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm just so puffy because of it.
- 53:02Speaker 1: You're not.
- 53:04Speaker 2: She's like, I'm so puffy because they just got massages
- 53:06Speaker 2: all day and I'm exhaust so hard. Oh my god, Well,
- 53:12Speaker 2: thank you so much for coming on Donna, We love you.
- 53:14Speaker 1: This has been fun.
- 53:16Speaker 2: We've had so many with just like a couple, you
- 53:20Speaker 2: know how it is. You get a couple of trolls
- 53:22Speaker 2: and then the freaking sweethearts flood in and say all
- 53:25Speaker 2: the nicest things.
- 53:26Speaker 1: So thank you all. I'm not great at getting back
- 53:29Speaker 1: to d ms, but just know I'll see them and
