Big episode, big four ⁓ Matthew. Big four ⁓ episode. Address the elephant. You've moved. I was gonna say I'm back. ⁓ yeah, you are back. Yeah. I have moved. You were on the move. I wanted to bring that up. I think the setup's pretty nice, right? I think it could maybe a little pizzazz. You wanna add some more stuff to it, but you you've officially moved into your new place. You've got a new background. We're always changing stuff up on the show. Feels fitting that we're doing this on episode forty. I'm just I'm glad I can at breeze on display it now. Yeah. But you are back. Brought him out of the storage unit. And there he is. You are back. I'm also back. We're both back. ⁓ last week, guys, apologies. Apologies real quick. We did not get an episode out last week. Hands up. Hands up. Life gets busy. I went on vacation. I meant to ⁓ I meant to say something last episode that there probably wasn't gonna be an episode last week. My bad. You know, that's a miss by me. But you know what? We're back for this week. We're we're hitting it up and it you know what? It feels it feels a little rusty. If we were to miss I know I missed two weeks, but we didn't record at all last week. Yeah. So like if I were gonna miss any two weeks that we the last two weeks were pretty ideal. Yeah, we did talk about possibly getting like a short episode out, but we're like, there's nothing to talk about. There's was Really. It last week was bare bones. It was World Cup. That was about it. We'd be scraping the bottom of the barrel, probably. And as much as everyone probably enjoys this scrape of the bottom of the barrel, you know what? We want to give you a good episode. Also, just life gets busy. Everyone would probably relate to that. But we're back this week. We got an absolute banger of an episode for you guys. Probably gonna be recapping some stuff from last weekend, maybe maybe the last week as well. ⁓ but then we're also previewing some stuff that's coming up. Speaking of which we've got Brody's of the week. We've got ⁓ Connor McGregor making his UFC return and how that went. Not the best. And then ⁓ we'll get into some World Cup semi and final previews and then capping it off with some other sports news around the MLB, NFL, and MBA before we get into closing out the show. But with that, Matt, let's get into Brody's of the week. It's been a while since we've done some Brodies of the Week. Let's see if we still know how to do I'm excited. I do feel a little bit of rust. I feel like I left my child at the gas station, like I went out for milk. Yeah. And like I finally came back. Left her I left her abandoned. Did you bring the milk? I brought the milk. ⁓ our podcast is a girl. ⁓ is. I mean, yeah. Our yeah. Our baby girl. Let's get into parties of the week. Let's get into parties of the week. Proties of the week first. Brody is actually not a girl. It is Caleb Wilson, the fourth overall pick by the Chicago Bulls out of U and C? I thought you were gonna ask me. Well, I mean, I'm sure you know by this point. But if you know another draft pick out of North Carolina by the Chicago Pulls. What are you talking about Michael Jordan? I thought you were about to say I think I'll talk about Kilby White, but Michael Jordan too. ⁓ well. I just went with the best. Anyways, it made his summer league debut on Friday is obviously a All the rookies did. ⁓ he in thirty three minutes, he dropped thirty five points, five boards and five stocks. ⁓ those were the most points in a summer summer league debut in NBA. What's a s a stock? Is that a steal and a block together? Yeah, so I think he had three blocks and two steals. ⁓ I thought you were saying like he blocked it as he blocked it, he took the ball away. No. So stocks are steals plus blocks. Gotcha. You casual. I you listen, not keeping up with the summer league. Hand up. Fair point. ⁓ but yeah, most points in a summer league DB, that's obviously very promising for a team that needs a very good player at this point. There were some rumblings in the draft when it happened that Caleb Wilson could have possibly I know like there was the top three guys and he went number four. Mm-hmm. But there was talks that he could be like out of the four He could be the number one. Yeah, I mean those top four guys were like the top four, and there was a lot of debate on the order. But I think the order that they actually went, De Bonza, Peterson, Boozer, and Wilson, I think that was like the most agreed upon. Yeah. And as a as a Bulls fan, you just go in and get your guy, you're like, listen, this is the guy that fell to us. We couldn't kill anyone else. Absolutely. He's offered a very promising start. What was the ⁓ do you know off the top of your are are you getting more into Caleb Wilson? I'd have had one more little tidbit. Okay. ⁓ he also went seven for eleven from three. Did he do this on seven eleven? No. Seven eleven Saturday, right? That would have been cool. But ⁓ what's significant about that is he only made seven threes in his college career. Wait, he he only shot He only I guess he probably shot more than seven threes, but he only made seven threes in his college career. Correct. Is this guy like a point guard? No, he's a four. Is he a Ford? He's a wing. Yeah. I gotta get back in my different. Actually, you know what? I think it's a four. Because he's not like super tall. I thought he was one of the guys that was. He's a four. He's six ten. ⁓ never mind. I he I he's looks I guess he looks smaller on TV. He's athletic four. An athletic big guy. Yeah but ⁓ seven for eleven. I know it's summer league, but still you're seven for eleven. And he only made he did get asked about it. Well, he only shot, you know, seven threes in his college career and he went out and went seven for eleven in his first NBA game. He's just saying that he just chalked that up to the the college their their game plan. the team. Apparently he worked with notorious shooting coach, Lethal Shooter. The guy ⁓ is that the guy that's like I understand it now? Yeah. Yeah. He's big on Instagram and social media, but apparently he really knows his shit. Apparently actually very good shooter. I guess if your name is Lethal Shooter, you gotta be a solid shooter. Correct. I think the basketball at least. The Thompson twins should get in contact with him, I think. Basketball at least. He's a good shooter. Correct. Maybe ⁓ I guess Ja Morant's a different type of shooter. Anyway, so I'll get in my second, ready? No, no, no. We're alternating. okay. All right. I'll get into my Brody of the Week. Speaking of some historical stuff here, shout out. My Brody of Week goes to the Allen family or the Allen estate, previous owners of Portland Trailblazers, who just got Ja Morant, which the Portland Trailblazers, if you didn't know, sold for four point two five billion on March thirtieth. The Allen family also were the previous owners of the Seattle Seahawks, which on July eleventh, seven eleven, just sold for nine point six one billion. So a cool what is that? Thirteen, almost fourteen billion for the Allen family just in the span of four months. So they sold both teams? Yeah, they well, so they had to sell both. I don't know if we ever talked about this on the podcast, but so the previous like Owner of both these teams was Paul Allen. He purchased the Seahawks back in 1997 for 194 million. So well X'd his investment. It ain't a bad profit. He passed away. And so I believe since he was like a majority owner or he wasn't like the full owner, ⁓ his daughter or like the family, the Allen family, the estate took over the teams. And they were forced to sell. That's why they had to sell them both, I believe, in this calendar year. So they were putting them on the market. They sold. It is the highest purchase price ever for an NFL team, topping out the Washington Commanders, who did six billion last year. Now, Matt, like Whoa, go ahead. I was gonna say if they had to sell them, they lucked up tremendously. Yeah. Because they're coming off, you know, Super Bowl win. Yeah, that's why they were talking about during the Super Bowl, they were like, that you couldn't have a better like going into a selling season. Like if you're gonna have to sell, might as well sell high at the Super Bowl champions. But Matt, my question to you was, do you know what the highest and the lowest, like the top five? So you already got the Seattle Seahawks and Washington commanders are one and two. Yeah. Yeah. The other three, do you have any guesses? NFL? Yes. I mean how How recent are they? 'Cause I don't ⁓ so I believe I don't even know like what the re most recent I know those two, but then actually before that. Okay, so twenty twenty two, twenty eighteen, and twenty fourteen. That's twenty twenty twenty two five. Yeah. I mean that was like four years ago. Yeah. Good job on the math. That's pretty recent. I'm just saying that's recent, I should know. I don't. It is the Denver Broncos. ⁓ Sold for four point six five billion. Mr. Panthers were sold in twenty eighteen for two point two seven billion. And in twenty fourteen, the Buffalo Bills were sold for one point four billion, which I didn't realize the Buffalo Bills had been sold that recently. Yeah, didn't several people buy the Broncos or something like that? Yeah, normally now what we're seeing it's not just one owner. Like Mr. Walmart had a or Mrs. Walmart. I don't know if it was the Walmart family. Some part of the I do believe some part of But like the the team that won or the team that bought the Seahawks, ⁓ it's like an investment firm. So it's not really like a main owner anymore. Although there is like some connections like the San Francisco 49ers somehow. Like that's the guy that was leading the tr the buy for the Seahawks. But the lowest are interesting. Do you know what the lowest price a NFL team's ever been sold for? You have the year? Yes, nineteen twenty. Okay. ⁓ The Browns. It's a pretty prominent NFL team. It's not the it's the Packers. I mean it's not the Packers. Packers are actually undisclosed. I think this nobody owns them, right? Nobody owns him, yeah. The fans own ⁓ but there was a like a price back in the day or something. But it's not the schools. Not the Chiefs. Chiefs were twenty five K in nineteen fifty nine. That's sh that's wild. I don't know. It is the Chicago Bears. ⁓ yeah, I could have got there. What do you think they were sold for? Five grand. A hundred dollars. Hell no. So now That's so crazy, man. That's wild. I I mean, like, we could have bought the Chicago Bears in nineteen twenty. Be fair, that might have been ⁓ that's probably a lot maybe back then. It's not wouldn't have been that much. No. It would have been more than it obviously was too. That's like when the NFL was like starting up. They were like, Hey, we had a team. That's just sell them immediately? Okay. Yeah. ⁓ the second lowest was the New York Giants in 1925. They sold for $500. They might be the second lowest today as well. Yeah. Well, not anymore. They're kind of on the up and up with the old Jackson Dart. Not really. And then the ⁓ third lowest was the Pittsburgh Steelers for 2.5,000 in 1933. So there's just the same family's. Yeah, they've owned them pretty much the whole time. Whatever they bought in for. Now, Matt, I do have the Cowboys and the Saints. Would you like to guess what the Saints were bought for in nineteen eighty five? Three point eight million. Nope, seventy million. Okay, I'm low bowling. Crisp. And then nineteen eighty nine, the Cowboys were purchased by Jerry Jones. I know. I this is definitely in my memory bank deep down in there, but Cowboys was a hundred and forty million. Yeah. So Cowboys won't I wonder what he would get today. Well, so the the highest a team's ever been purchased for was the Los Angeles Lakers. And that was like 10 billion. I believe that was also a couple years ago. Yeah. It was like when Lukey got traded, no? Yeah, it was somewhere around there. Yep. And then the so I'm thinking if the Cowboys sold today, which you know, they might need to. Probably sixteen billion. I was gonna say fifteen. Yeah, sixteen. I bet it'd get up to twenty billion though. The Cowboys? Who I'm sure there are People a lot of people that could afford that maybe. Yeah. Elon Musk, maybe? Yeah, we could put a little we could put a little wager in for it. Elon Musk could actually buy all the teams. Yeah. He could buy I believe it's all like all the NFL teams, all the NBA teams, NHL, pretty much every major sports franchise and still have half his money left. First trillionaire. First trillionaire. Could have also been Birdie of the Week. Yeah. Just crazy how much money is in this in the sports and Hey, we're gonna get up there one day, man. Yep, yep. We'll at least be invited. If we can just see the document that they're signing. We could put in a couple grand. But Matt, what was your next Brody of the week? Next Brody is y'all can see it. Texas Rangers. ⁓ I just wanted to sneak them in here because this might be the first and last time I have an opportunity to put them as a Brody this year. They just walked off the Astros yesterday, won the series. ⁓ they were finally able to get over the five hundred hump. I know it's like a stigma around them that they just whenever they get near five hundred or at five hundred they lose. ⁓ so they're forty nine and forty seven going into the break. So they're right around five hundred. Correct. Yeah. They're two games up, which feels like they're twenty games up. But they have a game and a half lead in the AL West. ⁓ so I just Over the Seahawks. Yeah, over the Seahawks, man. I'm just I'm looking at it right now. Or not not I'm not did I say Seahawks? Yeah. ⁓ my god. I mean to be fair that's Seattle Seattle Mariners. They're on your mind. Same city. Yeah. Close enough. But yeah, over the Mariners. I was looking at the standings right now. It's yeah, Mariners, Astros, A's, and then Angels. Yeah. Even though I think we lost a series against the the The Angels. Angels. Yeah. Yeah. But Well, I think you're right. I think that might be the last time we can bring up the Rangers. I you what? They're picking up Stein. Yeah. Picking up Stein. I did watch a game the other night. I was like, who are these guys? I have not seen a lot of these players. There's a lot of a lot of younger guys now who are also playing super well, obviously. Apparently, like the AL West is very easy right now. It's like when people were you know, they say they talk about the NFC South and football. Like the Okay. The AL West is right up there too. How about the AFC South? It could also be the AFC South. Pretty much any of the South the NFL, yeah. Yeah, this I wouldn't say it's the worst division, but it might be the easiest win. It's right up there. Speaking of which, wh as we're doing this podcast, we're watching ⁓ home run derby right now. Bryce Harper is currently hitting ⁓ in Philadelphia. It's his home stadium, him and Kyle Schwarber. Kyle Schwarber's hit ten. Bryce Harper. How many he has to beat that? He's gonna beat that to Just it's top four goes to the ⁓ to round two. Yeah, I kinda like the we were gonna maybe talk about this later on the episode, but I think it's gonna be so far past. But I do like the the new format they're doing where it's not like timed, it's actually like they get each swing. Yeah, so round one they get twenty swings. Obviously they can take pitches and wait for the one they want. ⁓ second round that gets cut down to fifteen. And then and the finals It's also fifteen. But top four advance of the second round and then obviously top two to the finals. Yeah. I they needed to do something else to it because I feel like the time just like everyone remembers the Josh Hamilton home run Derby when he just absolutely was going yard at Yankee Stadium and it was probably the most electrifying round one of all time. And then he just like ran out of steam after he hit like I think it was like thirty two home runs or something, or was it twenty eight? Yeah. This is just ridiculous. It was like five hundred Foot home run after 500 foot home run. It's one of the biggest what could have been, dude. Yeah. And at least like this, you can see the ball land before they have to hit another one. But getting off getting off track here. Just wanted to mention that if we see us keep looking over, we're watching the home run derby as it's currently going on. So we'll let you know probably by the end of the episode who won. Maybe if it's finished by then. ⁓ my next Brody of the Week, not our typical, you know, sports athlete, but Adam Schefter. He's officially reached a new multi-year extension with ESPN. I believe it was brought up last week, but I think it was finalized today on Monday. I don't know why I said today, because this podcast drops on Wednesday. But the new terms are not disclosed exactly by ESP on how much he's getting paid, but it is through like it's end of the twenty thirties. His previous contract from twenty twenty two was around nine mil a year. And fun fact, Adam Schefter did not break this news. I went and checked all the tweets and he never tweeted this. This would have been something that he should have tweeted out there. That would have been funny. Adam Schefter breaking the Adam Schefter news. Yeah, he should have put a picture of himself and said, like, breaking news, I've signed a new contract with ESPN. Yeah. He also should tell us what the contract. That's like his whole job is to say what the contract is. Might be a little personal for him, I guess. He does it literally to professional athletes every day. Yeah, but that's not him. No, dude. He has to report what he's making a year. And he has to put a picture of himself. He will put that out there. I will say like I a lot of people probably want that job. Right? Being able able to break all that news and stuff. But like, dude. I do think I want that job. Stressful and like how on top of shit you gotta be. Yeah. You gotta be up at all hours, like You have three phones that are constantly just going off with like information that you have to just decide if it's actually real or fake. It's like him and Shams. Shams for for basketball. Like he was up at whenever that Luca trade broke at like midnight or 1 a.m or whatever. Like you gotta be up. You gotta be ready for that type of stuff. It's all about being first. Now here's a question. Which one should be paid more? Shams or Schefter? I mean I feel like Shams is still fairly new. Schefter's established. I think he just hit his like 20 year mark with ESPN. Yeah, because who is the old Woj? There was a Yeah, Woj. Yeah. For basketball. So I guess probably Shafter. But I think you bring up a good point. It's like a lot of people want this job and they until you gotta be on your phone for like twenty two hours a day. Yeah, which a lot of people probably are on their phone twenty two hours a day. I'm they they make it nine mil a year though. Matt, I consider you the Adam Shafter of our fantasy football group. Every time there's breaking news, you you're putting it in there. Everyone every every group message has the shafter of the group. Agreed. ⁓ I do like to concert myself. I do live vicariously through both of those fellows. ⁓ and if you want news as fast as you can get it, sports wise, Twitter. I'll have their notifications on whenever they tweet. That's like the first, like the earliest way to get breaking news like that 'cause I'll get A notification from their tweets and then like twenty minutes later at ESPN, thirty minutes later, like police report, you know. Yeah. I don't even have Shafter or Shams like notifications on because Matt normally sends it in the group message. Yeah, and it's a lot of notifications. It's a lot of notifications. I I was just trying to go through his Twitter to see if he tweeted out the contract. There was a lot of tweets about the Seahawks being sold. Yeah. ⁓ and nobody fair on on their important tweets. First word will be breaking. Breaking news. All caps breaking. That's probably just a copy and paste. Yeah, gotta gotta look at that one. And yeah, normally get a graphic with it too. But yeah, I think that's our Brodies of the Week. And next we will come back and do some ⁓ UFC recap along with some FIFA World Cup previews. All right, we're back to do some UFC recaps. UFC three twenty nine, Connor McGregor taking on Max Holloway for a second time. Hey man, this just was not the whole card was pretty good, right? And I'm sure if anyone's listening to this podcast, you've seen the news. It was actually like the highest viewed UFC event of all time. ⁓ Connor McGregor goes out for a flying leg kick and twists his knee, ⁓ tears his ACL. I believe that's like what's come out. He's already starting to have surgery on it. Hadn't fought for like five years, makes his comeback, and then the fight's done, and I think it was like 69 seconds. Nice. Yeah. Well, it's not nice what happened to him. But yeah. ⁓ I am so sad that this happened. ⁓ I feel like I was dude, I was in such a I was out in a cabin, I was with some friends, we were all gathered around, we were watching this and the Argentina game at the same time. They ended about the same time. Both ended very early. ⁓ just unfortunate for Conor McGregor. I don't know why he went to go try and throw a crazy kick like that. I mean, that's just the McGregor nature, right? He's just gonna go out there and try and throw a wild kick to start and I wish it would have landed. I wish it I wish the kick would have landed and at least we would have got something out of it. But just very anticlimatic and A lot of people are saying this is probably it for Conor McGregor. Probably the last time we'll see him fight. He still has like one more fight left on his like UFC contract, but just unfortunate because it seemed like he's someone that's been taking like his health seriously. he's been taking his faith seriously. He's kind of become like a changed man. And then to go out there and have that happen, just super unfortunate. Might be a little attached to that faith. Yeah. Yeah. And ⁓ I assume he'd ⁓ I I did see little people were saying ⁓ rigged. ⁓ scripted. Yeah, I don't know why people are saying scripted. You can say scripted about a lot of stuff, not about McGregor, man. He's he wouldn't do that. Like he's for one, he has plenty of money already. For two, I feel like that's just not his in his nature to do something like that. Yeah, people were trying to say like it was It was his knee was torn before I get this when he was trying to get out of his shoes, right? Before he walked into the ring, like he did a little stumble. I think that was just people looking for some anything, like grasping at straws. I think it was just a little tough. He had like the the shoes that he just had to slip. It wasn't like sandals. He actually had to like pop his foot out. I think he just kind of lost his balance. But like they were showing videos in the in the locker room of him throwing kicks and everything was perfectly fine. If anything, you could have said maybe it was strained a little bit, but ⁓ you definitely saw whenever he went to throw that kick, the way he landed and planted his foot and the torque of the knee, you can see where it would have snapped and give it give out. I ⁓ it has brought on a lot of the ⁓ TikTok and Instagram real doctors that have been doing deep dives and slow-mo's into what exactly the knee injury is. But just heartbreaking stuff for Carl McGregor, I saw he like was limping out of the ring at or limping out of the arena after he didn't even change. He just like went to the his car in his like UFC trunks and just, you know, was just out. He didn't want to mi talk about anything on it. I know he put out a statement saying that he was absolutely heartbroken and that, you know, he this isn't the end for him, that he's gonna try and still make a comeback. But I think just, you know, after the dusted Poirier breaks his leg and then this is the other leg now that he's now torn his ACL on just Absolute unfortunate stuff there and wishing him a speedy recovery. Honestly, like I'm kinda surprised that type of stuff didn't happen more often. With the amount of kicks they do and like I mean it obviously the form was correct. Like it it just awkward. It did look like he had a little bit of rust. I mean that is fair to say. Yeah. The walkout was absolutely electric. The coming out to notorious, the ⁓ what is it? ⁓ it's Biggie. I'm all over the place. But what I do want to mention, what I do want to mention is that before he dig in the ring, people are talking about the shoes and that he was slipping, getting out of his shoes, and that he had that little stumble. What I noticed watching the fight is he was like he was like wiping his feet a bunch and when he got into the ring. Like he was worried about slipping. Like he kind of was I think it was just in his game plan that he was gonna go out there and try and throw a flying kick, but I don't think he was confident because he was he was feel he just kept touching his feet and he was like just wiping them like Is he nervous? Like he doesn't sweat in his maybe doesn't sweat in his hands, maybe just sweats in his feet. Because he did look like this wasn't like the McGregor of old where he just walks around with swagger. You kinda tell like he was kind of a little shocked to be back there after five years and was kind of just like walking around, just kept kind of wiping his feet. I that was something that just stood out to me now. And then you see that what happens, and you're like, ⁓ maybe that's what he was worried about was slipping in the ring. I mean, I did see that his trainer said that he was fine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or before getting into the ring. I think he was completely fine when he got in there. I think he was just nervous about slipping and then he did kind of slip and stumble a bit. Like even the the way when he went to throw the kick and the way he landed, it wasn't like a confident kick. He kind of just went out there and was like maybe I can just superhero kick this real quick and and finish the fight. But unfortunate stuff there. Yeah. And maybe it he just had to like overextend his leg too far. Maybe he wasn't expecting Holloway to Yeah. Counter it in any way. I did have I talked about it a little bit with some of my friends that I was watching happen. I was like, man, I feel like I have like fighting blue balls now. Like I I wanted to see a fight and then to have that happen. I I told my friends, I was like, guys, just go out in the in the by the campfire and just start fighting. I just need to see something. I just want to I wanna place a bet on one of you guys to win or something. Yeah, I know I told you before we started this that I'm not a big UFC guy. But I did go out and watch ⁓ McGregor vs Cowboy. Cowboy Saron? Yeah, back in the day. And that that was blue ball. Because that was like over in probably the same amount time. No, this one was this one was short. At least that one you got to see some like ⁓ he was doing like the shoulder punches at the time. I mean, yeah, McGregor won that one, but it was still like super short. Yeah. And shout out to Max Holloway. Absolute class act. ⁓ I he noticed something was wrong with McGregor after that first kick and he I think he came out and said like yeah, he wasn't gonna hit like a wounded dog or something. He could kinda tell like even McGregor when he it just sucks the way it all all went down. I know Max, he's also a showman, so like even if you want to say it was rigged, like Max Hallway's not gonna be in on it being rigged. He wants to provide the best entertainment he can. He's the guy that did the ⁓ whenever him and Gaichey were doing ⁓ fighting for the bamp belt. He was like, stay in the ring for the last 10 seconds. We're gonna see here. We're just gonna throw punches till someone gets knocked out. And he absolutely does the one second knockout. Yeah, apparently ⁓ Holloway and McGregor are like kind of close in real life. Yeah, I can see it. I mean, Holloway did come out after and said that he wants to now it's one one because Conor McGregor won the first fight between them back in the day, and now Holloway's won the second one. They want to do a third one. ⁓ McGregor did say I've listened to some of the interviews leading up to this fight. He said he has two fights left on his UFC contract. This was one of ⁓ And then the next one he said he already had a date and it was in April. I don't think he's gonna be fighting in April now. I think it's gonna be a minimum of two years before we see him fight again. And even after that, I mean I guess if he wants to, obviously their Dana will probably welcome him back, but Well that's the thing is he said he's been he said he's been in negotiations with UFC on getting a new contract. So I guess he's not he says he's not done yet. I think he's like thirty seven. I can see him going into like the boxing, like the celebrity boxing stuff after this. Jake Paul's been calling him out. Yeah. That's I mean, don't I don't want to get short on Jake Paul. But maybe McGregor can but get into some like peptides. All that stuff's going around right now. Maybe some s what is it, stem stem cells? Peptides. I don't know how much that affects knee. Peptides probably do crazy stuff. Yeah. And it's all the it's all the craze right now. Maybe you can do some experiment. But honestly, all jokes aside, we're wishing Conor McGregor the best recovery. UFC's a better place when he's involved. Like I said, it was the highest viewed UFC event in the history of the UFC. I think it was like twenty I don't know what the gate means, but they had it. I think it was like twenty four or twenty three million. But out of the top five, he's four of them. So crazy stuff there, like Connor McGregor, he's big name pool. They're actually talking about the UFC might have like a superstar problem because there's not really the next Connor McGregor. Unless you look at the fight that was right before this one, Patty Pimlett. Patty the baddie. Absolutely. You want to talk about, you know what? Maybe the maybe the main card didn't go how we wanted to. Maybe the main title fight didn't go how we wanted to. Patty Pimlett absolutely showed up on the undercard. ⁓ took on Benoit St. Dennis, who was, I believe, in the France Special Forces. And ⁓ Patty the Batty absolutely he finished this fight in the first round as well in a ⁓ I think it's Darth Choke submission. Absolutely electric stuff. From the walkout to the fight to the submission, Patty is a showman. He is the future of the UFC. And he said after when when ⁓ Joe Rogan was interviewing him, he's like Line someone up, I'll take ⁓ down. Scousers don't get knocked down or don't get knocked out. He's got that like thick accent. He's just absolutely he's like what Connor McGregor was back in the day when Connor was on his tear. He just seems like a real guy. Yeah, he's hilarious. He's like authentic so much weight. Yeah, I think that it's funny, like ⁓ quote from him who's saying like he'd rather be fat and happy than like on that MMA like diet, you know, to to make the weight. He'd rather be fat and happy. No, there's like the funny ⁓ what is it like a picture? It's like a transition between like his like walking around weight versus like his fighting weight. He just loses like fifty or forty pounds. Yeah. Probably not healthy at all, but it's hilarious to watch because he's apparently he's like, I just like to eat. Can't stop it. He's like, I just gotta do what I gotta do. I'll lose the weight. I like to eat. But yeah, he's absolutely showman. Had an absolute great first round. Was able to, like I said, finish the fight in a crazy choke. Honestly, like the the way that he was able to contort his body and hold that guy and like the choke. I think it was like his arm and his neck. Actually the dude passed out. Like the referee had to like lift his arm up and drop it to ⁓ to show like This guy was knocked out. Patty was talking to the ref. He's like, I think he's out. I think you better get him. This absolutely would not stop. When you look it up. I'm looking at that clip right now. Clip of his clip of his submission. ⁓ Just to see what you're talking about. Yeah, that's insane. Yeah, and the dude like rolled to the cage and like Patty was able to tighten it even more. Yeah, it's like a front naked choke, I guess. Yeah, 'cause like he was expecting that guy to shoot on him. So like turns out Patty's actually got very good grappling, able to roll around a lot of pe some people look at him as just a striker. I know him and ⁓ him and Gagey. Him and Gagey were just absolutely throwing haymakers and were super bloody. ⁓ but then Patty comes out and honestly Patty was bouncing back after that loss to Gagey. So now maybe they'll give him another title shot against Gagey. Possibly. But Patty's looking absolutely great. Also, shout out also on this undercard. King Green. ⁓ King Green took on Terrence McKinney. This fight was done in the first round with one second left. King Green was absolutely getting punished by Terrence McKinney. It looked like I was watching with some friends. We're like, this guy's losing the fight. It's over. And then he stands up and he's able to just knock out Terrence McKinney. Like I said, one second left. Could have been possibly a controversial ending to the fight. Maybe the referee could have let it go on for one more second and get to the second round. The fact that it was called, I mean, it was an absolute comeback of the ages. Like a guy's back absolutely against the wall, absolutely getting beat up, and then turns around in the last 10 seconds of the round and wins it. ⁓ he actually ended up winning performance of the night for that quick turnaround knockout. But even like when the you know when the when the ref holds up the hands on who won, King Green looked like he was the one that lost, just based on like if you just look at like face damage and stuff. Yeah. He's the one that's all bloody and and blood strip, and the other guy just looks like he just got like banged up. There's great stuff there. ⁓ looking ahead, ⁓ before I mention that, also someone else that had a great night at the UFC. Sophie Cunningham. ⁓ Sophie Cunningham had probably the best two nights in Vegas. July eleventh, she was a ring girl for UFC 329. And then turns around July twelfth, dropped twenty points. Seven for nine from shooting and went six for seven from three point. I was gonna say hey UFC might be better at promoting ⁓ the WNBA than the WNBA is. Yeah. Well and she also had a picture with Max Holloway, ⁓ they were doing the pointing meme at each other. I think he was pointing at her and she was pointing down at the ring or something, but just I I saw her and I was like, what is Sophie Cunningham doing at UFC? I thought that was really cool. And apparently there was some ⁓ There was some other controversy between some of the other celebrities that were there. Dana White. ⁓ apparently one of the celebrities that showed up, they I think it's a fighter. I think it's a fighter on the UFC. I didn't really know, but it turns out UFC didn't know. They had him listed as a OK C Thunder. They him mixed up with Jalen White. Yeah, I saw that. Yeah. And Dana White was like Yeah, he was pissed. He was pissed. He's like, I can't believe they put a graphic up. He's like, Don't even put a graphic up if you don't know who it is. Yeah, that's wild. I thought it was funny, but Speaking of which, the next fight for the UFC is what UFC 330. It's like the next big one. ⁓ the undercard's okay, but the main event is really what I'm interested in. It's Islam Machenkov taking on Ian Machado Gary. Ian Gary. ⁓ Ian Gary is also a fighter out of Ireland. A lot of people are saying like he's kind of the next Connor McGregor. ⁓ fighting at 170, he's obviously a lot taller than Connor McGregor, and his fighting style is very similar. He's very, you know, strike heavy guy. Taking on Islam, who is a very, you know, grappling heavy guy, wants to take it to the ground, wants to, you know, submit you. But it's gonna be for the Walter Waite title. So should just be a good fight. I think that one is yeah, August fifteenth. So about a month and we'll do a recap on that one as well. I think that was all I had for the UFC. Yeah. At all the cards that happen. Honestly, wish Con McGregor the best. Moving on to some FIFA World Cup semi and final previews coming up. So the semifinals are happening By the time this podcast comes out, we'll already know one of the one of the results. And then Wednesday, the second semifinal is so first semifinal is France taking on Spain, Tuesday, July 14th at two PM here in Arlington, Texas. Just going back on kind of what Tavis has told us, France is obviously the powerhouse. He said the only team that could beat France is France. And then Spain is dealing with, you know. A lot younger of a team. They got like the young superstar and ⁓ Yamil Lam Yamil Lamal. Lamille Yamal. There we go. Some of the soccer names are a little tough. ⁓ but obviously France is the super house. The other semifinal going on. England taking on Argentina, July fifteenth. It's gonna be Harry Kane taking on Lionel Messi and also Jude Bellingham from England is one of their also their top players. ⁓ England's actually, I believe, the favorite of this one. Are they really? I mean, I'm not gonna say like I know. Like that should be what it is, but But you're right. We don't really know. But I did have a little cheat sheet here to help us, Matt. So they've compared these soccer teams to the NBA teams that were in the playoffs for us Americans. So England, their ⁓ comparison of who they said they would be in the NBA is the New York Knicks. Loud fan base and might finally be their year. And then Spain is an elite defense led by a young superstar. Spurs. Spurs are the team that they compare them to. Argentina, they've compared them to the Golden State Warriors. Can the GOAT carry them one more time? Good comparison. And then France dominant roster from top to bottom. Who does that sound like? I guess OKC. OKC Spurs or OKC Spurs. OK Thunder. You're right. It's just I mean, you gotta compare France to the Spurs, man. No, France to Yeah, two French goes on those on that team. No, no. Not the f not the French. I mean that's that's the easy That's an easy comparison. Yes. The World Cup final is going to be in New Jersey Sunday, July nineteenth at two PM. So the World Cup's going to be all wrapped up by next week and we can finally know, you know, who the winner is out of these top four teams. It's also all four of these teams remaining is one through four in the seating. It's been very chalk. Yeah. Well, there's been a little bit of some differences, but as far as the teams that made to the semi in the final, it's going to be pretty chalk. Which has me ask this, Matt. Let's give our predictions. Yeah, I'm just I'm sad that Erling Holland isn't in it anymore, man. Yeah, well, okay. I was gonna talk about a little bit about Erling Holland, then we can So prediction? I mean I what? ⁓ yeah, go ahead and give your prediction. Okay. Isn't that what we just asked? Yeah. What the fu ⁓ I mean, ⁓ originally before this evening started, before I knew anything at all, I had France. But I mean that's They're probably the favorite in the beginning. ⁓ I I don't think that's changed. I guess I like I mean Messi's ⁓ obviously playing out of his mind, but I'm gonna you know, France and then I'm gonna say Argentina. Same France and Argentina, okay. I think Messi I think Messi can get it done. And then who's winning out of France and Argentina? I'll stick with France. Stick with France. I'm gonna say it's gonna be France and England. Yeah, it's Probably what it's gonna be. And I like France to get it done. France does seem like the best team in this. They it seems like these top four are the top four, but it seems like France is that next level. Yeah. ⁓ I wouldn't be shocked if Argentina made it. They've had like the most games go to like knockout or ⁓ not knockouts, but like penalties. I'll say like in the semifinal wise, England and Argentina is a closer call than what people are saying France and Spain. France is apparently a super heavy favorite against Spain. Not maybe not super heavy, but. They're up there. Getting into the golden boot race, though, I've taken off just the people that aren't no longer in the tournament. But so leading off right now at one and two, going with who's tied for first, Leonel Messi and Killian Mbappe, both at eight, and then Harry Kane and Jude Bellington Bellingham, both for England, are tied with six, and then Bailey with five. And then forgive me, Spain. We're trying to pronounce this name. Mikel Oyuzabal. Oye Zabal. Oyarzabal. Ohyazibal has four. And then on assists, it's Michael Olysse for France with five. Killian at B Killian and Bappe at three. Bukayo Saka for England also has three. And Anthony Gordon also for England has three. I mean it's it's promising for England that they're You know, tied for second. Yeah, they seem like the more technically tied for second. They have two guys tied for second, technically. Yeah. And then France and Argentina just have like the top, top guys, Messi and Mbappe. I do think so win go a golden boot race. Kind of go Mbappe. Actually, no, I'll go Messi. I'm gonna go Mbappe. Even if they don't, even if Argentina doesn't win, I think Messi could get two more. I guess I could I could actually do it, yeah. I guess if they lose, right? The finals would count as well, so I guess Mbapped probably does get it. Yeah. I'm gonna you have to stick with Mbappe just 'cause have France advancing. By the time this podcast comes out, we're not gonna know anything about that. I mean it's gonna be Spain versus England probably at this point. Yeah. Actually that test the Bready Pod curse. Some other soccer news. Yes, the summer of soccer is almost over and it's definitely over for Erling Holland, but he returned to a hero's welcome in Oslo. He brought home an interesting souvenir. Did Matt, did you see the souvenir that he brought home with him off the plane? It was a raccoon holding a whiskey bottle. Like a stuffed raccoon. Yeah, you gotta preface that with taxidermy. Yeah, taxidermy. Yeah, he didn't bring an actual raccoon home on the plane. But you know what? That wouldn't be surprising for Lingolin. He could have. There's anyone that could have done it. He also met with Norway's royal family, which this is the first time I'm hearing Norway has a royal family. I guess every country over there has a ro royal family. A lot of ⁓ probably. Yeah. Probably a lot of kings and queens around there. Not here. Not the good US of A. We only have one king. Also, thank God we didn't do a podcast last last week because we would have had to talk about Team USA's absolute debacle against Belgium. Holy shit. We did watch that game together and we were in Paris. I was like, Thank God we're not doing a podcast this week 'cause I don't know much about soccer, but I know the goalie absolutely whiffing on a ball. That's I mean That was the easiest goal I think I've ever seen. ⁓ I should have looked this up sooner. It was there's some kicker in the NFL that wants to kick a field goal and he like got his the tip of his cleat stuck in the grass as well. Yeah, that's trying kick the ball. Yeah, that's absurd. But it's sport, by the way. They're lucky listen, they're lucky LeBron James decided to play basketball. Twenty years ago. Give me four four more years, I'll be Bob at the team USA. Give me DK back. I did s I did see, I guess we both saw or heard that the the announcer was like, you know, I know a lot of the Americans are gonna be done now for the next four years, but please go and support your local soccer club or whatever. Like, brother. We got four. I'll watch for four years. This is the last soccer. Although we do have to pick a team. We did tell Tavis we'd pick a team for the ⁓ Premier League or Champions League. One of those. You said just pick one and choose it. So we gotta we do have to come up with an official team backed by Brody Pod. Okay. So we'll keep we'll keep drawing that. Now as much as how what how much we'll actually keep up with them, we'll try our best. I mean keep up. We're not gonna watch. Also, I just want to shout out another thing that I've been seeing. ⁓ there's another podcast. I can't I think the name's triple coverage sports or something. I've been seeing their clips on TikTok and Instagram, it's hilarious. They're treating it like ⁓ like very they're treating it like the MLS is the best of of soccer. It's like a parody. They're like, yeah, this Mbpe guy probably needs to ⁓ come over to try himself try his try himself at the MLS. See him see a real man's league. I was just like, this is this is peak comedy. It's definitely a good parody, so just shout out that. I gotta shout out another small podcast. I don't know. They might be big. I don't know. I've just seen those clips. I thought it was hilarious. I was like, we need to definitely do this too. We're up for a collab. I think yeah. Yeah. I think we'd fit in well with their style of comedy on soccer. I it was hilarious. He's like, Maybe maybe ⁓ maybe Mbappe should just get off in Arlington and go try himself for F C Dallas and see if he can make the deep. And I was like, Okay. It would fit in. I think we'd take him. But with that, I think that's it we had for soccer and UFC. We'll come back, do some other sports news recap around, and then we'll get in and close out the show. Or we're back for some other sports news stuff going around, starting off. Yannick Center wins his second consecutive Wimbledon title. He defeated Alexander Zaverev in four sets to win his fifth major title back to back at Wimbledon. Sinner is the fifth man in the open era since 1968 to defend titles at two different majors before his 25th birthday. So looking absolutely like I said, I did see like apparently tennis is just dominated by the top guys. Like I was looking at ⁓ a graphic today that had like every big major champion for like the last twenty years, twenty-five years. And it was like Nadal, Federer, Nadal, Federer, Yokov ⁓ not Yokovic. Yeah. Yeah, Yok Yokovic. Yokovic. Yeah. Yeah. I was thinking Jokic for a second. Yokovic. ⁓ and then like now it's Alc Alcaraz and Center, which people were live people were saying like Carlos Alcaraz not being in this tournament kind of deflates the ⁓ center winning it. But you know, I think he's Battling some injuries coming back. But yeah, shout out Yannick Center winning his second Wimbledon title. And ⁓ was an absolutely it was a cool tournament. I was watching most of it, so shout out. Shout out. Mr. Center now get into some big twelve news. It's real. Talking about the conference of chaos. Now you want to start us off here. And the team of chaos. The team of chaos. Texas Tech back in the news again. Are you bringing this up or am I bringing this up? You wrote it down. ⁓ did I ⁓ I wrote that down. I thought you wrote that down. It's been a while since I've added this to the notes. You really are out of Yeah, I'm out of the shake. I took a week off and I just don't know how to podcast anymore. We're gonna get back into form. I'll be back in form by the Dirk Nowinsky episode. Lost Podcaster? Next week. ⁓ that reminds me. Number forty. Number forty. This is the Gail Sayers episode, dude. ⁓ I don't want to offend anyone when I ask this, but you knew who that was. It was Gail Sayers. Hall of Fame running back. Or the New Orleans Saints. Chicago Bears. There we go. What year? I'll tell you what year. Also, anyone keeping track at home? Kyle Schwarber and who's the other guy that's in the final right now? I just saw it. ⁓ Jordan Walker. Jordan Walker. Yeah. I was in common era, but he's already out. 1965 to 1971. There we go. A little past my time. I'm just saying that ⁓ looking at his ⁓ ref by reference stats, I don't know if that's Hall of Fame worthy, but they do completely buried the lead in what we were talking about. They were giving him out back then. Willy nilly. Big twelve news. T ⁓ team of chaos, Texas Tech, JT Toppin is returning to Texas Tech basketball. He tore his ACL in February of twenty twenty six before the March Madness tournament. ⁓ dominant player, but I think he went undrafted or just didn't declare for the draft. Could have easily been a draft pick. I feel like he did declare. He just went undrafted? Yes. Probably the tornado. I I didn't see like he was in mocks. I guess I don't know if he'd officially declared, but ⁓ I do support the decision going back because now he fully healthy. He would have been maybe End of the lottery tech. Yeah, now I'm interested to see with ACL because normally they say you're out a year, and if he did it in February, he wouldn't be available to Texas Tech until next February, leading into the March Maddis tournament. But ⁓ definitely an inc incredible important piece for Texas Tech basketball. Glad to have him back on the team and I'm sure, you know, when we get to March Maddis next year, he'll be a dominant force in it. His teammate Christian Anderson, although he'd be drafted. Yep. So shout out to him. Speaking of some other Big 12 news, something that was announced, I believe, at the end of last week. ⁓ but the Big Twelve has announced a partnership with Monster Energy Drinks. Monster Energy. Maybe not drinks, maybe just Monster Energy. ⁓ apparently it was for a cool $20 million, and it includes like jersey logos and some other like sponsorships. So like they're gonna have like a logo on the field now. ⁓ a lot of people came out and said 20 million. Not a lot for what they're getting, but Yeah, definitely not. It's an absolute steal. ⁓ a lot of people compared it to SEC saying the SEC wouldn't even take that call from Monster Energy. I can agree. I don't think that was the right amount. Also, I believe every school should be able to assign whatever deal they want, but or opt out of it if they want. I think they should just put a giant logo of a white monster can right in the middle of the field. Of all the fields? Fifty fifty yard line. That's pretty much what they're getting. It's there's gonna be a monster energy logo on pretty much everything Big Twelve now. I they should call it the Monster Big Twelve. I did like that idea. The monster twelve? Monster twelve. I think that's definitely what they they need to do something like that. But I did see Kansas announce a New Jersey sponsorship with like a cryptocurrency. And so I'm wondering if now teams can opt out of having like the monster logo on their jersey and do something else. Or like, could Texas Tech they have so much money? Could they just be like, yeah, we're good. Actually, we don't want to put a monster logo on our on our red jersey. We don't put a green monster logo on our red jerseys. That just would not look good. Then that'd be green, right? Then that maybe like the white monster logo. That might be better, but I don't I'm not a fan of this. Yeah, this is a very odd ⁓ sponsorship. Yeah. For only twenty mil too. I mean, they could've done I think it should have been fifty or seven. Yeah, for the n the entire Big Twelve, that's Yeah, 'cause it's football and basketball. That makes it even crazier, actually. Yeah. Yeah. So I think each team is gonna get two million dollars out of it. So I think there's like sixteen teams in the Big Twelve. I just I think there would have been, you know. Some other logo brands that would have put up a little bit more money. But you know what? Sounds like they sounds like they should reba rebrand the big twelve. Yeah. The big sixteen, huh? Big big one six. I don't know. I I just thought that was so s I thought that was so stupid to that part of that. I mean probably not gonna get a monster energy sponsorship after this episode, but I think ⁓ what's the guy for tech? The oil guy. Cody Campbell. He's put more than twenty million to that team. Yeah, I mean the Rockstar alone. So Monster getting that deal for twenty million is actually insane. Yeah, and I think it's to help like the smaller teams that don't get a lot of money invested in ⁓ but I think Campbell's. What? What small team is here in the Big Twelve? Colorado. Small team with Deion Sanders is that guess? Mm, okay. Let's see. What other teams? Arizona State? Crazy economy small teams, they always beat tech every year, but I mean that's just how about JMU takes that call? Yeah, JMU probably. Or ⁓ what's the team that just The Mac? The Mac takes that call. ⁓ what's that ⁓ is it NDSU that just is now You're on a ledge. I don't know where you're where you're at. There's a team that just went up to ⁓ The FPS. ⁓ yeah, it might be North Dakota State, possibly. Yeah, it's it's just North Dakota State. Yeah. Up to the up to the up to the FBS. How about they take that call? They could use that call. Maybe Rutgers takes that call. We're just gonna start offending all the fan bases. Maybe Wreckers does. Vanderbilt takes that call a couple years ago. Not anymore. Yeah. Not after Mr. Diego Pavia. Mr. Baltimore Raven. Yeah. Speaking of Baltimore Ravens, Lamar Jackson, what did you see that he was the sixty ninth best player? That's incredible you bring that up 'cause I actually was gonna go through the top those top thirty real quick. Those bottom thirty. Of people that were after Lamar Jackson? Yeah. Okay, let's go through it. Okay, except screenshots. They're I think they're releasing like one a day. ⁓ so they haven't released the full list yet. And then they recap it. No, but they right. So I I mean they've released a hundred to I guess sixty nine. Yeah, they extend yeah, that's probably okay, that's why people are up in arms of like, show me who's gonna be above Lamar Jackson. Exactly. Yeah. But ⁓ I go through it real quick. Yeah, run through it. So topping rounding off topping off the list at number one hundred is Cameron Jordan. Shout out. Shout out. Number ninety nine, Quentin Nelson. Number ninety eight, Bryce Young. Okay. So every quarterback's gonna be on this list. ⁓ it seems like it. 97, Ernest Jones, the Seahawks. 96, Travis Achan of the Black and Gold. Number 95, former Black and Gold, DeMaro Davis. 94, Creed Humphrey. 93, Carson Schweissinger. Okay. 92, Aziz Al Shair. Lineback of the Texans. 91, Montez Sweat. Ninety, Derek Brown, which he probably should be higher. Eighty nine, Kyron Williams, who also might deserve a higher spot. ⁓ eighty eight, Jack Campbell, eighty seven, Cedar McMillan, Mr. Offensive Rookie of Year. Eighty six, eighty six, Thule Twipalotu. Eighty five, Brock Purdy. Okay. So so far, Brock Purdy, Bryce Young, quarterback wise. Correct. Eighty four, Byron Young, eighty three, Jeffrey Simmons. And saying he's probably a top fifty player in the league. Eighty two, Jalen Ramsey. Eighty one, Bobby Wagner. Okay. Who's currently not even on a team. So shout out to him. He should be on a team. Bobby Wagner's on a team. He should be on a team. He should be on a team, but he Was he not with the commanders? Not anymore. Well he was. But he's ever heard about that. Certainly not. Certainly not. Top 81 player. 80, AJ Brown. Definitely should be higher. Agreed. 79, Travis Kelsey. Probably fair where he's at in life right now. Maybe. He's got Tennessee. He doesn't need to be ranked that high. He's got down. He's he's honeymoon. Honeymoon right now. 78, Josh Sweat. 77, Baker Mayfield. I Baker needs to be higher. Maybe I just put a lot of emphasis on quarterbacks. 76, JC Horn. 75, Buda Baker. Seventy-four, Josh Jacobs. 73, Zach Allen. Seventy two, Jordan Love. Jordan Love definitely should be higher. A top ten to twelve quarterback in the league right now? Probably twelve. Seventy one. Zay Flowers. You're telling me he's I kind of like that for Zay Flowers. He's nine spots ahead of AJ Brown. ⁓ yeah, no, he should definitely AJ Brown should be higher than him. I'm talking about like where he's at that's probably fair for him. Yeah. I mean each of their own. ⁓ and then 70 is Xavier McKinney, safety for the Packers. Right. And then 69, Mr. Nice, Lamar Jackson. That's because I think he was like, was he like five last year or something? He fell at least. I mean he was in the he was in the I think he was in the top five last year. He's definitely top ten, but I think that's You're telling me there's sixty-eight players better than the fifth best quarterback in the league? Yeah. He's at least top ten. I mean, I don't know where Mahomes is gonna be. Mahomes if is obviously gonna be ranked higher than him. But he also missed a lot of the year. And I know Lamar obviously missed a lot of the year too. But if we're gonna top one hundred, isn't it player voted on? I think so. I think so. So Lamar Jackson might have a chip on his shoulder this year. Might be time to take him fantasy. Exactly. I mean, all which is all the more reason this is insane. Because these guys play against Lamar Jackson and the Lamar torches It's gotta be guys that are like upset that Lamar makes them look like little kids trying to like tackle. Telling me Zay Flowers is two spots ahead of Lamar Jackson? Like you're out of your mind. Yeah. Lamar Jackson is Probably already a Hall of Famer. Two MVPs, the most rushing errors for a quarterback ever? Yeah. Put ⁓ in, but I'd like to see a little more playoff success. I mean if we're doing that, a lot of these guys gotta get down on. Like Josh Allen. I'm not talking about the list, I'm just talking about Hall of Fame. ⁓ okay, fair. But obviously, like Is a guy going into the league this year, like where would you want Lamar Jackson? Would I want him in my team? Yes. Would I get a steal for him at sixty-nine? Of course. Yeah, there's only like three teams. I'm interested to see what quarterbacks are above him. It sounds like it's gonna be a lot of quarterbacks. Holmes, Stafford, Burrow, Drake May. Dak Prescott will be above him. Correct. Tyler Schutt. What about if they put CJ Stroud? If they put CJ Stroud, I'm out. I'm gonna I'm gonna go watch MLS. Yeah, we'll get it. We'll get into soccer a lot more. No, that's just crazy. I think we're just in the NFL off season. They just wanted something to reach at. So Lamar Jackson being sixty nine. I that's insane. The only way I could see him being that low is injury. But No. All right, moving on to some NBA news here, Matt. You wanna take it away? I will. ⁓ obviously a lot the NBA stuff, the big news has already happened. We've missed a lot of that. I guess I have, you know, Giannis, Jalen Brown, that type of stuff. But speaking of Paul George. True. I mean, it was in the trade. Yeah. Yeah. But ⁓ big name, obviously. Speaking of big name OG NBA players, the remaining free agents that are I d I listed them as OG NBA. There's a lot of guys that are more coveted, but they're a lot ⁓ a lot younger. But I was gonna say I got six listed here. Should they retire or keep playing? OG NBA free agents. First one, Draymond Green. Is Draymond a free agent? I thought he was doing like his player option with Golden State and was trying to get Braun to come in. He's not on the team as at this current moment. Not official. Okay. I think there's something where he's like not taking his big bonus to try and entice LeBron to come to Golden State before signing with him. Correct. But Braun did say he's going to take a minimum. Yeah. ⁓ did he? Yeah. Okay. He said this isn't about money, this is about winning championships. Yeah. Okay, yeah. Dream on I think he'll see he'll be playing. Okay. Next one, Mr. Trip the Double, Russell Westbrook. I think he'll be on a team next year. Dude, he can still contribute, man. He's been like obviously out of his prime for a while, but he's still good player. There's a lot of teams that probably could use him. Next one, Braun. Yeah. Obviously obviously gonna keep playing. We're still waiting the decision. Correct. ⁓ DeMar DeRozan. I didn't I know he was free agent this year. Mm, he'll probably keep playing. Yeah, I mean there's he's a scorer. It's all about where they're still where these guys are gonna end up. So I think a lot of these guys are gonna keep playing, obviously, 'cause they're yeah. OG guys that just the experience alone would get ⁓ on a team. Plus they're still good. Yeah. Next one James Harden. Definitely be on a team, but it's gonna be funny to watch. I always like watching the James Harden controversy go on. I mean it for the Cavs, this would be embarrassing if they don't get Braun. They traded Harden or they traded Darius Garland for Harden straight up the this past offseason or this past. Yeah, so are they gonna try and resign? I don't know what they're doing, but he's not on the team. Obviously he's good for him, playoff dropper, but still he's a very good player. ⁓ last one I have here is Bradley Beale. Did he come off the Suns? Yeah. Yeah. I mean Victoriously bad contract guy. Yeah, he just won. Jordan Walker just won the home run derby. That's so crazy. Sucks for Kyle Schwaberg, did not win it at his home stadium. Kyle Schorberg hit ten home runs and fifteen swings, man. Wasn't enough. But Bradley Beale, is he enough? Yeah, I mean he'll be on a team. Some certain team. Is he though? I don't know. I don't know, I guess the NBA's a little tougher to make a roster. Hey, he'll He's not that thirty point per game scorer anymore. Yeah, I mean it all depends on what role these guys want to have on their new team. Like if they want to be a top guy, it's gonna be a little tougher. But if they're like cool coming off the bench or being just a role player on the team, like yeah. Obviously James Harden will find a team. He just had enough success to where someone's gonna take a shot on him. ⁓ Russell Westbrook, I did not know he was Was he I guess was he on Denver last year? He I think he was a role player on Denver. No. Maybe it was the year before. ⁓ think he was on the Kings. Was he on the Kings? I I'm gonna look it up. He's been on so many teams at this point in his career. Yeah, Sacramento Kings. Yeah. Yeah, he was on Denver the year prior, but That's what I'm saying. Like these guys are kind of You know, like you said, they're kinda past their prime. They're kinda OG. They're kinda taking a step back. There is a lot new a lot newer talent in the NBA that's really starting to show like I just saw there's a a new freak coming out that's like seven seven. Apparently he's gonna be looking down at Victor Womenyama. That's crazy. Who are you talking about? ⁓ let me see if I can find it real quick. The guy from Florida? I don't think it was Florida. There's some really insane tall guy that's in Florida. He might not be in Florida anymore, actually. Change teams. ⁓ his name's Mock. ⁓ JK Mock, seven seven Australian basketball prodigy who's already turning heads in the world. Yeah, that's disgusting, man. I mean, we're gonna get we're gonna see nine foot guys in our time. At this point. At this rate. Yeah, all those six guys. Eligible for the draft in twenty twenty eight, by the way. We should tank this next year. We're gonna be the finals this year, so why would we tank? Well not we don't have to tank this year, it's tank next year, I think, right? When the finals this year Tank the next year. Yeah. Correct. Okay. Fair enough. ⁓ I did have a little another thing. It was I don't know if you've talked about it when I was absent. What team would benefit the most from Shining Brown? We didn't really talk about what team would benefit. We talked about that he was going to Golden State. And apparently that has changed. As we've expected with LeBron. It's never gonna be easy on a decision. Right. I mean this is the anniversary The sixteenth anniversary right of the decision. I think. Him taking his talents down to South Beach. Yeah, so sixteenth year. Yeah. So I mean there's there's what, five teams that are like the heavy, heavy favorites. Right. Heat, Cavs, Warriors, Sixers, Timberwolves. The Heat, obviously, Giannis and Bam. Yeah, that would be a fun Carring just 'cause it'd be like a new big three. And obviously you sell LeBron and and once again those guys are very defensive heavy. Like the Heat kind of need someone they can come in and score, and Braun, even at what, forty what is he, forty one, still could come in and get you what you need on a nightly basis. Yeah, I mean Giannis and Bam are good for probably forty five wins by themselves. Bam alone. Eighty three. Eighty three. Hey, talking about Mr. 83. They don't even need Braun, dude. Yeah, Braun could just take a couple nights off, and we'll go drop what he needs to. Cavs, obviously. I think the more I hear about it, the Cavs sound like maybe that's where he wants to finish c his career, go back for a third time. Run it with the Cavs, especially if they're, you know, moving stuff around, trying to offer ⁓ what they can. Warriors seem like the fun like the funnest fit. Like if he goes to the Warriors, that team is we talked about it, their prime time all year all year next year. Yeah, Steph, Braun. Jimmy Butler. ⁓ they were talking about possibly moving Jimmy Butler to the Wizards and getting Anthony Davis. Because I think their contracts are similar. Yeah, I don't think the Wizards are doing that. And then the Sixers, obviously, yeah, they'd be pretty stacked. This is only if he's signing for a minimum. Yeah. If he's real about that, 'cause that would actually be like heavy favorite. But also there's so there'd be so many So many mouths to feed on the Sixers already. Yeah. I can't see Braun signing for a minimum. I know he said he if he said he would, he would he would, but I don't see him signing for a minimum. If he does, that takes a lot of these teams off the board, then probably. Yeah. And Tibberwolves. Mellow ant. Ron. Jade McDaniels. Rudy Gilbert. Yeah. That's Bert. That's title title fame. As long as he doesn't go to like OKC the Spurs. I don't think so. He's not Kevin Durant. Okay, cool. I think that was our other sports segment. Let's get into what do you have more? Pick one. ⁓ you you're saying Warriors, right? Yeah, I'm saying Warriors. Okay. I'm saying Cavs. I think either of those are the topics. Especially like Cavs losing James Harden. But LeBron at the one. There you go. Yeah. Okay. Cool. That is our other sports segment. And Matt, let's move into our final segment here. A as Matt calls it, keep six, cut four. Not a keep three, cut five, keep six, cut four. Once again, there's just too many good ones to choose for this particular topic. Let me get my notepad out because Yeah, you're gonna need to write some stuff down. All right. It's not crazy. Start me off here. What are we what is what is this segment on? We're doing quarterback. Wide receiver duos. Which one would you want to have this upcoming season? Whether it be fantasy wise or just on the field production. I think they're the same thing. Essentially same thing. Okay, on the field. If they're good on the field, you're gonna get a quarterback and wide receiver in fantasy. Or it's rare to get the same. Well, that's why it's hypothetical, huh? That's what that's what it's rare. So let's do on the field. That's the whole point of the segment, right? Hypothetical. All right. All right. First one, Matthew Stafford and Puka. ⁓ keep. Yeah. I I don't even need I don't even need to see it. Puka has, you know, one of the best productions and obviously Matthew Stafford coming off MVP. Like, yeah, give me those. Easy. But he's old gonna be older. He's gonna be He was old last year and he still won ⁓ V P he's gonna be six months older. Next one, Dakota Rain Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. Keep. Keep and two off rip. Keep and two off rip. Those are two great duos. CeeDee Lamb, I think, is one of the most like athletic wide receivers out there. And Dak Prescott, I know he's going into what, year nine, year ten. He's got the veteran leadership. He can throw a great long ball too. So give me that. Well, both those guys. I keep cutting off. Continue. No, I j I know what I'm looking for now. Yeah. Is it Drake Mae and AJ Brown? ⁓ haven haven't seen these guys in action yet. Yeah, I'm gonna cut I'm gonna cut on paper. On paper. Drake May has one of the objectively one of the best long balls from the game. Yeah, but AJ Brown's a little bit of a diva. But I once again, on paper, this is great, but I I think there's gonna be some off the field stuff if there's any type of adversities. these guys face this year. I do know what you mean by him being a diva, but this is going to be literally saw the fallout with him in Philly. Yeah. This is gonna be the best receiver Drake made probably will ever play with. Yeah. But ⁓ next one, Kyler Murray. Speaking of best receiver at quarterbacks going to play with Kyler Murray and Justin Jefferson. ⁓ man. Okay. So when I initially said that I knew what I was looking for, I forgot Kyler Murray is the Minnesota Vikings quarterback. Once again, on paper, probably looks great. Good quarterback. Not great. Good. Yeah. Justin Jefferson, elite. And Kevin O'Connell being the head coach. I like I think he's a like a quarterback whisperer, quarterback guru. Like he's he fixed San Darnold. He made Kirk Cousins look I mean, don't even know Kirk Cousins good, but he made him look elegant. Cousins very good. I'm just saying a lot of people are down on Kyle Murray, but I'm trying to think who else on this list you're gonna throw at me. Obviously, I'm looking for Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow. I know that's coming down the pipeline. Yeah. But on this podcast, we do we do respect ball and I'm thinking I'm just thinking through other options here. Like if there's a Sam Darnold JSN, that would I'd probably take that over this. Interesting. Obviously, don't get me wrong, Justin Jefferson, top receiver, one of the It's either him or Jamar Chase. Pick one or two, but I'm going off quarterback wide receiver duos. I'm going to cut this. It could come back to haunt me. So you're putting Kyler above Darnold, essentially. I mean Darnold above Kyler. Yeah, Super Bowl winning quarterback, Jonald. Not Super Bowl MVP though. Next one. Joe Barrow, Jamar Chase. Yeah, yeah. I mean, there's just a lot of super good ones that you just have to. But I could not. include them. I wanted to make it hard. I didn't wanna put Tyler Shuck and Carisho Lave, right? Because that's you know it's don't get me wrong. Maybe maybe in a year or two, maybe we're talking something. I gotta see ⁓ a full year together, but yeah. Right now that would be an automatic cut. Fair enough. So keeping Burrow and Chase? Keeping Burrow and Chase. Yeah, one left. One le one keep left. One keep left, correct. Yeah. Jalen Hurts, DeMonte Smith. Another great little duo. I do consider Damonte Smith a bona fide wide fever one. I think he's gonna in the year top fifteen maybe. I'm gonna have to see a year of like the actual like being the w number one option. I mean last year was kinda kinda saw it last year. Kinda saw it last year, but I I'm gonna need to see it for a full year. I'm going to cut this just 'cause I also wanna see what else is on the list. But I I just know this one could also be up. I see what you're saying. This is really tough. Mm. Next one I have Patrick Mahomes and Ross E. Rice for C Rice. We're talking fully healthy? Yes. I mean if we're going on this upcoming year, I'm gonna have to cut this just off NAC potential. Potential what's the word I'm thinking of? Potential taking a step back, whatever that word is. Downshift. Sure. Potential downshift, yes. Yeah. I'm gonna cut this. Okay. Next up is Mr Sixty Nine and Mr. Seventy One. Lamar Jackson Zay Flowers. Well, I gotta go with what the top one hundred list says. I gotta cut that. You're giving Zay Flowers praise ten minutes ago. I was not I said he was right where he w needed to be ranked. Give me Chris Olave ever say flowers any day. So currently one, two, three, do George Pickett. Give me George Pickens ever say flowers. We got it's wait, am I supposed to be keeping six and cutting four of these? You're keeping four. It's six. ⁓ on the on the sheet you had it as keep six, cut four. ⁓ I'm but I think we've been doing it right. I've been treating it like I'm keeping four. Okay. I was off a perk set when I wrote this. So all over the place today. So So you have one spot left still for the last two guys, right? Yeah, yeah. Last two pairings. Okay. Next one is kind of a little curve ball. Mr. Glock Purdy. Mike Evans. ⁓ man. I I mean when I ran through the scenarios in my head, I thought about the forty niners and I was like definitely cutting. So I'm I'm gonna cut this. I think he could be the forty niners best receiver in history. All time. Possibly, but I mean like last year was I'm I'm kidding they have to rey. Yeah. ⁓ yeah. I'm not even thinking about Jerry Rice. I'm just thinking about Mike Evans. T O. Yeah. Not being I think obviously towards the end of his career, but he's still good. Anyway, last one. So the better question is, is Brock Purdy the second best quarterback that Mike Evans has played with? Where does he rank in the quarterbacks that Mike Evans has played with? Yes, he did play with Tom Brady. Play with Tom Brady and like Baker Mayfield and then Brock Purdy. Jameis Winston. And then Jameis Winston. Well it's Mike Lennon, maybe. He's probably out there. Probably Brock Purdy's three. You say before Wednesday. But I'm looking at I'm for what that was. Whoever if you can't remember him, they probably weren't that good. No, they've haven't had a quarterback before or since Brady. Anyways. All right, last one. I'd keep this one. Last one to keep in for sure. Cam Ward. I'm just kidding. Sam Sam Darnold and Jason. Sam Darnold, Jason. Which is that's what I was looking for. ⁓ I think that's obviously just going off the production of what they did last year and JSN coming into his own as a bona fide wide receiver number one. You know, that last year was the first year we kind of saw that. Wait, was it last year? Maybe it was a year I think last year was the first full year of him by himself. And so we had to see, yeah. So so Looking back on the list, is there a chub? The only thing I could see switching out, and it's kind of what I was talking about initially was Murray and Jefferson for Sam and JSN, just cause Jefferson is that great of a receiver. Maybe also Hurts and Smith. Really? Seeing how this year goes. 'Cause they're also gonna have ⁓ Mc Makai Lemon. Malachi Lemon, yeah. Malachi Lemon. Out of USC. So I think You know, Devontae Smith will be the number one option, but he's gonna have some of that taken off his plate because Lennon will be the slot guy, they'll take a lot of the ⁓ pressure off of him. Ooh. Okay. You've been learning a little bit, huh? And getting ready for football season. I I was telling Matt, I think we're one month away from ⁓ preseason football now. So we're starting to get we're even closer to ⁓ we're even closer to those mock draw getting ready to getting ready for fantasy football. Speaking of which I Matt, we need to schedule our fantasy football. We do. Draft. And also I gotta go around and start collecting money. But that's a different different day. Not today.
