- 0:09Speaker 1: standing at five foot ten, weighing in at pound and
- 0:13Speaker 1: coming to us from his super secret bunker with no
- 0:16Speaker 1: AC in Tucson, Arizona. Put your hands together for Luis Montemao.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Welcome back to a special edition of the Mixed Company Podcast.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Of course, my name is Jamison, and I'm joined by
- 0:29Speaker 2: Luis as always, and Luis, I talk about, Man, we
- 0:34Speaker 2: finally got the.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Fight we talked about over a year ago. What are
- 0:38Speaker 3: your thoughts? What happened, What's going on? How was the night?
- 0:41Speaker 3: All the above?
- 0:42Speaker 4: Man, I got so much to say, but you know what,
- 0:44Speaker 4: I gotta start here.
- 0:45Speaker 5: Uh, I'm gonna allow you for a minute to sit
- 0:47Speaker 5: back and give me my flowers.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Compliment me.
- 0:51Speaker 5: Because most of boxing media said Canelo was gonna take
- 0:54Speaker 5: the fight, Cadel's getta win by a decision. I was
- 0:58Speaker 5: the man who said Bud Crufford could pull it off.
- 1:01Speaker 5: I said he was going to be underestimated. I said,
- 1:04Speaker 5: do not better, do not count out Bud Crufford. And
- 1:09Speaker 5: on Saturday Night, we saw Terrence Bud Crufford win by
- 1:13Speaker 5: unanimous decision against Canela Ovaris in this mega fight, So, uh,
- 1:17Speaker 5: you know, go ahead, let me know, Come tell me
- 1:19Speaker 5: I was right. Tell me I was right.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Draw a lot of very good points over the year,
- 1:23Speaker 2: just in terms of just even hypothetical of the matchup.
- 1:26Speaker 2: You mentioned things about canel Will being more of a
- 1:29Speaker 2: short guy that's stocky instead of being a taller guy
- 1:32Speaker 2: ass lean, and as the fight went on, I'm like,
- 1:35Speaker 2: he's got a point because there wasn't a whole lot
- 1:38Speaker 2: of movement the hands be kind of wasn't there like
- 1:41Speaker 2: a big slowgany in the ring compared to a Crawf
- 1:43Speaker 2: who felt, you know, he was older. He felt like
- 1:46Speaker 2: a fresher, more athletic, have more pop in his punches
- 1:48Speaker 2: and his step.
- 1:49Speaker 3: And I'm like, damn, Luis did say this. From the
- 1:52Speaker 3: last year.
- 1:52Speaker 2: He's been saying like, hey, canell is still elite, but
- 1:55Speaker 2: it's not the same canot we remember from five years ago,
- 1:58Speaker 2: or is not that particular guy. And I'm like, damn,
- 2:01Speaker 2: why that's it all came around like around seven six
- 2:04Speaker 2: or seven, I'm like, Okay, that's what we's been talking about.
- 2:08Speaker 2: But until you fight and lead fighter, you kind of
- 2:09Speaker 2: don't see it because you can get by when you're
- 2:12Speaker 2: fighting lesser guys. You can get by on a lot
- 2:14Speaker 2: of things. But once to the ring with another elaitue guy,
- 2:17Speaker 2: all your flaws get exposed.
- 2:19Speaker 3: And it sure came to like Saturday night.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Sure the thing that blew me away right.
- 2:25Speaker 5: When it started is but actually looked huge, Like I
- 2:29Speaker 5: he looked so much bigger, be feared than Canela. And
- 2:33Speaker 5: I think Canel of course looked you know, of course
- 2:35Speaker 5: muscular and good shit, but leaner then maybe in the
- 2:38Speaker 5: last like let's say, last last year's fights, So maybe
- 2:43Speaker 5: he was trying to do the same thing as you know,
- 2:44Speaker 5: get that I talked about, get leaner, maybe move a
- 2:47Speaker 5: little faster on his feet. But yeah, Bud was looking
- 2:50Speaker 5: like he looked like Baine in that cut tam ring.
- 2:53Speaker 2: He was very comfortable with the way he was walking
- 2:55Speaker 2: around with that's the thing, and didn't he didn't necessarily
- 2:58Speaker 2: need power, but he was able to dictate the fight
- 3:00Speaker 2: a lot of ways. Being able to frustrate and at
- 3:03Speaker 2: the opponent like Canelo was probably the most impressive thing
- 3:06Speaker 2: for me, where Canelo just couldn't solve the puzzle.
- 3:09Speaker 3: He just couldn't solve them.
- 3:10Speaker 2: He couldn't didn't know when to attack, didn't know when
- 3:12Speaker 2: to do, you know, didn't we know how to defend.
- 3:15Speaker 2: This is always a step or too late to the punch.
- 3:18Speaker 2: And that was ultimately the fight. Even though I thought
- 3:21Speaker 2: I was gonna be a closer fight. I thought it
- 3:22Speaker 2: was a closer fight than everybody else had it. I know,
- 3:24Speaker 2: you on Twitter and Blue Sky and Igen, if you're
- 3:27Speaker 2: at a bar, people think the fights went one way
- 3:29Speaker 2: or another. I thought the fight was five to five
- 3:32Speaker 2: going I knew well. I thought the judges would have
- 3:35Speaker 2: the fight at five to five after ten rounds, because
- 3:37Speaker 2: that's just how judges are because everybody sees the fight differently,
- 3:40Speaker 2: which you may see in a round I might see different.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So in the first three to four rounds, if it's
- 3:46Speaker 3: two two, it's.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Not too far gone in my eyes, even though I
- 3:50Speaker 2: may have a three to one, you may have a
- 3:51Speaker 2: three one, or somebody may have a four to zero.
- 3:53Speaker 2: But every judge's difference. So I knew it was going
- 3:55Speaker 2: to be a closer fight than we all. You know,
- 3:58Speaker 2: then people were thinking. But at the end of the day,
- 4:00Speaker 2: but even though one fifteen one thirteenth kind of wild.
- 4:04Speaker 3: But did do enough to take care of business. It
- 4:07Speaker 3: was very impressive.
- 4:09Speaker 5: I really I did stick with the idea that But's
- 4:13Speaker 5: gonna win by either splitter majority of decision because of
- 4:16Speaker 5: what you said. What our amazing guest sportscaster Al Bernenstein
- 4:21Speaker 5: said in our previous episode, go back and listen to that.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Just because we talked about Canelo Crawford doesn't mean we
- 4:28Speaker 5: talked a lot about the state of Bosting today. Still relevant,
- 4:31Speaker 5: definitely check out that episode. But he made the point,
- 4:34Speaker 5: as did you, that Canelo gets the benefit of the
- 4:36Speaker 5: doubt on the cards, especially in Vegas. So I honestly
- 4:40Speaker 5: was surprised that it went full unanimous decision even after
- 4:43Speaker 5: the performance. You know, we talked on the group chat
- 4:47Speaker 5: a bit about how you expected a wild card, like
- 4:49Speaker 5: a ridiculous card.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I told you, I'll like, hey, don't be surprised. I
- 4:52Speaker 2: heard one fifteen one thirteen all prepared. I was like, oh,
- 4:55Speaker 2: they're about to do this, and I was like, oh no,
- 4:58Speaker 2: but yeah, I mean that's what it felt like when
- 5:00Speaker 2: they when I heard one, because it was one sixteen
- 5:02Speaker 2: one twelve, Like all right, that's yeah, that's kind of
- 5:05Speaker 2: what we see. Well, thirteen goes either way, Like when
- 5:09Speaker 2: that score gets tossed, that literally goes in aleven. Oh no,
- 5:13Speaker 2: but they got it right. But yeah, I expected that
- 5:16Speaker 2: I thought it would go. It was gonna be.
- 5:18Speaker 3: On the carg We're gonna be very close, and not.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Because Canelill fought the great fight, but when you have
- 5:25Speaker 2: that kind of pedigree and you're that kind of guy,
- 5:27Speaker 2: you get the benefit of the doubt, especially early on
- 5:30Speaker 2: in the fight. The judges is going to give you
- 5:32Speaker 2: in a in a not so busy round, the judge's
- 5:36Speaker 2: gonna give the benefit of the doubt to the guy
- 5:39Speaker 2: that is basically favored in the fight. That's just how
- 5:41Speaker 2: it always goes. Whether it's right or wrong, we can
- 5:44Speaker 2: debate that for a long time, but we've seen some
- 5:46Speaker 2: of these fights now where the guy that's favored for
- 5:49Speaker 2: whatever reason gets the benefit of the.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Doubt in those rounds that there's not a lot of
- 5:52Speaker 3: activity in.
- 5:55Speaker 4: No.
- 5:56Speaker 5: I mean, I uh, did you think it was a
- 5:58Speaker 5: good fight? Did you like the outcome of the the
- 6:01Speaker 5: quality of the fight.
- 6:02Speaker 2: It had the perfect mixture of boxing and also action.
- 6:06Speaker 2: It wasn't a strictly twelve round boxing match where you had,
- 6:11Speaker 2: you know, not necessarily born, but it wasn't slow on action.
- 6:14Speaker 2: You didn't have boxers jab jab, defend, defend for twelve.
- 6:18Speaker 3: You didn't have that.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You had power punches, you had flurried, you had guys
- 6:22Speaker 2: making adjustments. It was a perfect mixture. If that was
- 6:25Speaker 2: my first boxing match, I would have loved it, you
- 6:28Speaker 2: know what I mean. If that was my I always
- 6:30Speaker 2: kind of quit it to that this is the first
- 6:31Speaker 2: time I've ever watched boxing.
- 6:32Speaker 3: He threw me into that fight. I'm like, Oh, when's
- 6:35Speaker 3: the next one? You know what I mean.
- 6:37Speaker 2: It had the perfect mix of everything. So if I'm
- 6:38Speaker 2: explaining someone new, I'm like, hey, this is boxing, and
- 6:41Speaker 2: you see with Terrence Crawford is in this dance today
- 6:44Speaker 2: able to do this, this, and that he's able to
- 6:46Speaker 2: defend while also attacking. This is why, and saying with Canelo,
- 6:50Speaker 2: even though as the fight went on it was a
- 6:52Speaker 2: whole lot more strategy, it was more trying to land
- 6:54Speaker 2: power punches. So being able to explain that while also
- 6:57Speaker 2: having a fight that's entertaining to hit all the numbers
- 7:01Speaker 2: to me, hit all the metrics to.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Me, same same, Here's something that I never thought that
- 7:06Speaker 5: I wouldn't be able to articulate before the fight. And
- 7:09Speaker 5: what really really stuck with me about buds Chances is
- 7:13Speaker 5: his ability to adapt, which I didn't realize what I
- 7:18Speaker 5: didn't realize what I was thinking until I saw him
- 7:21Speaker 5: a few runs in. He moved like a guy that
- 7:23Speaker 5: belonged to that weight class.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yes, yes, he looked real comfortable. He looked very comfortable.
- 7:30Speaker 5: The standard sort of take on this was while he's
- 7:33Speaker 5: going to get a lot bigger, he's going to be slower.
- 7:36Speaker 5: But it's not a matter of like speed or no speed.
- 7:38Speaker 5: It's a matter of can you adapt to walking around
- 7:40Speaker 5: of that weight like you said, And he looked like
- 7:43Speaker 5: a guy that He looked like a guy that you know,
- 7:45Speaker 5: could have been that same weight class for years now.
- 7:48Speaker 5: He looked like a formidable opponent for Canelo specifically, And
- 7:52Speaker 5: I think that's kind of really what what had me
- 7:55Speaker 5: thinking that I was going to go for a bud wind.
- 7:57Speaker 5: You know, I would go back and forth, of course,
- 8:00Speaker 5: but at the end of the day, I think that's
- 8:01Speaker 5: what clicks did. And just you just saw him, like
- 8:04Speaker 5: he said, maybe by a round three years or so.
- 8:07Speaker 5: I was like, Tim, he looks good. At that weight class.
- 8:11Speaker 5: He looks in control of his feet. You know, he
- 8:15Speaker 5: came out, he came out south ball, which Canelo had
- 8:18Speaker 5: trouble with Billy Joe Saunders at the beginning before he
- 8:21Speaker 5: timed him out.
- 8:21Speaker 4: So smart fighter. Uh used a lot of high IQ.
- 8:26Speaker 5: He wasn't slow, but he wasn't the you know, the
- 8:31Speaker 5: and that's something that you specifically said it wasn't gonna
- 8:34Speaker 5: be Bud Crawford versus.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Errol Spence and yeah, no no no no no no
- 8:39Speaker 3: no no no.
- 8:40Speaker 2: That wasn't gonna happen. Hey, and also kudos AND's chin.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Canelo has probably the best I've seen in this relationship.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I mean, he's taking some shots and I thought back
- 8:50Speaker 2: later that evening that trilogy verse triple G even though
- 8:54Speaker 2: he you know, there was a draw and he won
- 8:56Speaker 2: close fights. That wears down a fighter. Those wear on you.
- 9:01Speaker 2: When you have those kind of fights with that kind
- 9:03Speaker 2: of guy, it where on you. Crawford didn't have those
- 9:07Speaker 2: kind of wars with guys like that. He doesn't have
- 9:08Speaker 2: thirty six rounds like that, you know, and they're not
- 9:11Speaker 2: just spreaditing. I'm just saying just overall, when you have
- 9:14Speaker 2: those kind of fights those age you a lot quickly.
- 9:18Speaker 2: We've seen other guys have trilogies and even for a
- 9:20Speaker 2: part series, and you can see how those things wear
- 9:26Speaker 2: down a guy. And it felt like as great as
- 9:29Speaker 2: Canelo was and it still is, you just feel that
- 9:32Speaker 2: he's wasn't the same guy. I think it's a culmination
- 9:34Speaker 2: of everything. I think it's a culmination of all. He's
- 9:37Speaker 2: been a very active fighter, He's fought some really tough fights,
- 9:42Speaker 2: and it's just one of those things where sometimes you're
- 9:44Speaker 2: just not the best guy that night.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Nothing wrong with it at all.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I just don't think the styles of the two boxers
- 9:49Speaker 2: is not a good match for him looking back at it,
- 9:51Speaker 2: but it's a culmination of everything.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Yeah, he took a lot of bombs and he handled
- 9:59Speaker 5: himself well. But I did say another thing I said
- 10:02Speaker 5: is that I don't think budd was going to be
- 10:04Speaker 5: able to break her or knock down Canelo. But those
- 10:07Speaker 5: power punchers were gonna land and they're gonna look good
- 10:09Speaker 5: to the judges, and they look good, and you go
- 10:11Speaker 5: back and look at Instagram highlights some of those stills.
- 10:14Speaker 5: There was one kind of really funny one where it
- 10:17Speaker 5: was a shout of Canelo getting a punch landing on
- 10:20Speaker 5: Canelo and then one of him looking side eyed it.
- 10:23Speaker 5: But and the caption was just like Canelos wondering what
- 10:26Speaker 5: his life is right now at this moment.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and I believe that.
- 10:29Speaker 4: I really believe that.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And to be honest with you, is one of those
- 10:32Speaker 2: things to where once you can land those kind of shots,
- 10:37Speaker 2: you're confidence the sky high. Especially when the other guy's
- 10:40Speaker 2: not able to land. It was like, oh, this guy's
- 10:42Speaker 2: controlled the fight, and it really not much canolicially do
- 10:45Speaker 2: because the kind of the kind of shot.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Canal they need to land, he couldn't land versus. But
- 10:51Speaker 3: that's the thing.
- 10:52Speaker 2: At the end of the day, the home runs when
- 10:53Speaker 2: he needed he wasn't gonna catch.
- 10:55Speaker 3: But with that, it just wasn't gonna happen that night.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Yeah, and you can tell frustrated. Halfway through the fight.
- 11:01Speaker 4: He was fighting frustratedly.
- 11:02Speaker 5: You saw it against Devol, Yeah, and you even saw
- 11:05Speaker 5: it against Berlega a bit.
- 11:07Speaker 4: I think I was a fantastic opponent, but you know
- 11:11Speaker 4: he is.
- 11:11Speaker 5: He's just a beefy dude again who who is able
- 11:14Speaker 5: to handle those shots really well. And William Skull just
- 11:18Speaker 5: because he was mostly because he was dancing around like
- 11:20Speaker 5: now you see the pattern of frustrated Canelo tried his
- 11:23Speaker 5: best and just not not getting where it needs to be.
- 11:26Speaker 5: And once I saw that, I was like, it's clip,
- 11:28Speaker 5: that's it. We're oh, you're gonna get a butter win.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Absolutely. And the also like we look at the fight.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Once a guy is not able to go to plan
- 11:41Speaker 2: B and there's no plan SE, he's like, oh, this
- 11:45Speaker 2: is kind of over. Like I mean, even though it
- 11:48Speaker 2: was close early, the back half of the fight was
- 11:51Speaker 2: you know, it was what it was. Now, let me
- 11:54Speaker 2: ask you, since we saw what we saw and we
- 11:56Speaker 2: know boxing the way we do, do we need a rematch?
- 12:01Speaker 5: I would I want to rematch? Of course I would
- 12:03Speaker 5: want to rematch. You know, the energy of that night
- 12:05Speaker 5: was so awesome. It was so the anticipation was amazing.
- 12:09Speaker 5: I don't want it to be like Chasing the Dragon,
- 12:11Speaker 5: where I want that same feeling again. It's never gonna
- 12:13Speaker 5: be the same, but we could recapture a little bit.
- 12:16Speaker 5: I would love a rematch. My heart was pounding. I'm
- 12:18Speaker 5: not a kid.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Like when when the ringboks happened, like for most of
- 12:22Speaker 4: the fight.
- 12:22Speaker 6: It was just boom boom boom, boom boom, because I
- 12:24Speaker 6: was so so excited for the fight itself, the anticipation
- 12:28Speaker 6: I was talking about it for a year or so,
- 12:31Speaker 6: that everything just whether it was going to happen or not,
- 12:34Speaker 6: like it was real.
- 12:35Speaker 4: It was finally real and I was there in front.
- 12:37Speaker 5: Of the TV, and yeah, man, I that this fight
- 12:42Speaker 5: really really reminded me of why I love boxing so much.
- 12:45Speaker 3: And here's the thing.
- 12:46Speaker 4: I don't need a mega fight like that every single weekend.
- 12:48Speaker 4: I don't.
- 12:49Speaker 3: I don't. I just like wat nice. Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 5: But if the unexpected this of the of the Bud
- 13:01Speaker 5: win for most people, not for me, but for most people,
- 13:03Speaker 5: you know, uh, I'm sure that you know, there would
- 13:08Speaker 5: still be excitement for a rematch.
- 13:09Speaker 4: So do we need it? I don't know. Do I
- 13:11Speaker 4: want it? Absolutely? I absolutely want What about you? How
- 13:14Speaker 4: do you feel about it?
- 13:15Speaker 3: Is it necessarily? We did one?
- 13:17Speaker 4: Cool?
- 13:17Speaker 2: But here my thing is, Budd says after the fight
- 13:20Speaker 2: he wants to be at one sixty.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Okay, that's a whole different can of worms. And I
- 13:25Speaker 3: don't know.
- 13:26Speaker 2: What Bud's goals are, So I don't know if Bud
- 13:29Speaker 2: wants to make most money going forward or he wants
- 13:33Speaker 2: to take on the next best challenger going forward. Those
- 13:36Speaker 2: are the questions we have no idea, So it's honestly,
- 13:40Speaker 2: it's tough talking about who who would he fight? Who
- 13:42Speaker 2: can he fight? And we don't know those things. It's
- 13:45Speaker 2: kind of tough about, oh, you fight bev All or
- 13:48Speaker 2: it's just not. It's really difficult, however, knowing. But the
- 13:52Speaker 2: way we know Bud, this was like the first kind
- 13:54Speaker 2: of cash grap well, the second kind of cash grab
- 13:58Speaker 2: fight he's fought.
- 13:59Speaker 3: He's more of it.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Say hey, whoever the biggest comp is, let's run it
- 14:02Speaker 2: and whatever. So I can see him fighting someone that's
- 14:07Speaker 2: not going to bring him the biggest amount of money
- 14:09Speaker 2: just to do what he does. But I think he's
- 14:11Speaker 2: gonna be smart about it. I think we're not gonna
- 14:13Speaker 2: see him for rest of this year. Obviously, you're probably
- 14:16Speaker 2: looking at the back half of next year. If I
- 14:18Speaker 2: had to guess, he's an older guy, so I think
- 14:21Speaker 2: he probably takes the rest of this year off, and
- 14:23Speaker 2: then going forward we probably get announcement in the late
- 14:27Speaker 2: winter or early spring about his next plans.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Agreed.
- 14:31Speaker 5: I guess we don't know what his plans are, but
- 14:33Speaker 5: we can speculate as much as we want. I mean,
- 14:37Speaker 5: the man has all the cachet in the world right now.
- 14:39Speaker 5: You know, whatever he wants to do, people are gonna
- 14:41Speaker 5: follow him. And what we said last episode was people
- 14:46Speaker 5: might know him, but don't put enough respect on his name.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Now they're gonna. Now they're gonna do that.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Yet. See, he's the best of this generation and he's
- 14:54Speaker 2: on the mount rushmore of our lifetimes. He's that good.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Like that's where he's at now. He's that good.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Agreed with that said, though, you know he is and
- 15:03Speaker 5: he's only human, you know he is, and he's you know,
- 15:06Speaker 5: almost forty, and you know he he doesn't want to
- 15:09Speaker 5: go out challenging somebody like a here's the thing, let's
- 15:14Speaker 5: let's talk about our our that poor Bestard David Benavitez,
- 15:17Speaker 5: who he can screaming up over and over again. There's
- 15:21Speaker 5: he should not challenge him. He should probably go going
- 15:26Speaker 5: down to one sixty is probably the best.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Option for him because we're.
- 15:30Speaker 5: Gonna run into the canal problem of him fighting big
- 15:32Speaker 5: guys are lower their.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Weight, big younger guys too.
- 15:36Speaker 2: You guys, I have the same amount of reach, like
- 15:38Speaker 2: I thinks can talk about is Crawford's reach for his
- 15:41Speaker 2: size is very impressive. And if you have somebody with
- 15:44Speaker 2: the same reach or even a longer reach and that's
- 15:46Speaker 2: younger and more athletic, I don't know what that looks like.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I think that present some challenges in the ring that
- 15:52Speaker 2: this fight did. Not not saying he wouldn't win, not
- 15:54Speaker 2: saying he would lose him, but he was saying it's
- 15:56Speaker 2: a different type of fight that takes place, so it
- 15:58Speaker 2: would be very interesting to see. But yeah, man, yeah
- 16:03Speaker 2: bev all. But if he does, I don't know.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I don't know. But here's the thing. Those are fights
- 16:10Speaker 3: we want to see. Why.
- 16:11Speaker 2: That's the thing we don't want. I don't want to
- 16:13Speaker 2: see him fight up to me. Okay, I don't want
- 16:16Speaker 2: to see him take a stopgap fight. I know you
- 16:19Speaker 2: don't either, And we'll watch and we'll be happy he's fighting,
- 16:22Speaker 2: but we don't want to see you at the point
- 16:24Speaker 2: now where he has to fight somewhat of substance.
- 16:27Speaker 3: He has to. There's no way around it.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Yes, but you also have made the point not but
- 16:33Speaker 5: and you have also made the point that you want
- 16:36Speaker 5: to be smart about your next fight, especially at a
- 16:37Speaker 5: time like this. You know, you're you're you're righty high uh,
- 16:41Speaker 5: and do something that is a quality fight, quality competition,
- 16:45Speaker 5: but also not something that's gonna get you embarrassed on
- 16:48Speaker 5: you know, like TV after your biggest win of your
- 16:50Speaker 5: entire career, right.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Right, right, So I would run the back of Canelo
- 16:55Speaker 2: and get the A side money or get fifty fifty
- 16:57Speaker 2: on the money.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Personally, that would be my thing.
- 17:00Speaker 2: It's a very favorable matchup for him, and there's things
- 17:02Speaker 2: he can probably improve upon and the next fight as well,
- 17:05Speaker 2: So that probably my my.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Thing for him. But again I don't I'm not in
- 17:12Speaker 3: his camp. I don't know. Also, I don't know what
- 17:15Speaker 3: did to his body. I don't know. We don't know yet.
- 17:17Speaker 3: We'll find out what.
- 17:18Speaker 2: We don't know what that the long term ramifications of that,
- 17:21Speaker 2: If there's any, There might not be any, but we
- 17:24Speaker 2: have no clues because he immediately set one sixty after
- 17:26Speaker 2: the fight and that was kind of telling, So who knows.
- 17:30Speaker 4: That's a good, really good point.
- 17:32Speaker 5: I mean, I'm it's never easy to put on that
- 17:35Speaker 5: much weight in terms of muscle. It's easy for me
- 17:37Speaker 5: to put on that much weight just a long weekend,
- 17:40Speaker 5: just you know, just keep the tab going and yeah,
- 17:43Speaker 5: I'll make the I'll bake weight.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Not for the right reasons, but i'll make mind it's
- 17:48Speaker 3: all bad. But yeah, this.
- 17:52Speaker 5: Is one of those things maybe that he's like, I
- 17:54Speaker 5: have to do it for this fight to get this
- 17:56Speaker 5: w but I can't live like this.
- 17:58Speaker 4: I can't, you know, continue my career at this weight.
- 18:01Speaker 4: We don't know.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Well, I think he walks around like at one seventy. Okay,
- 18:05Speaker 2: so that's the case. Getting the one sixty eight it's easy,
- 18:08Speaker 2: like that's not a that's not a problem. But again,
- 18:13Speaker 2: fighting that kind of fight at this age, I don't
- 18:16Speaker 2: know how his body responds. That does gon'ta be interesting
- 18:17Speaker 2: to see. But he immediately said one sixty. So when
- 18:20Speaker 2: you say one sixty, it means you may have somebody
- 18:23Speaker 2: in mind. Normally that means you have somebody in mind
- 18:26Speaker 2: or you have something in mind. As I'm very curious
- 18:29Speaker 2: on the next plans, Like, I'm very, very curious because
- 18:32Speaker 2: now he's the go to guy, he's the guy wants
- 18:34Speaker 2: to see. He's a guy that can sell and arena.
- 18:36Speaker 2: He can't all he can't fill out the stadium by himself.
- 18:39Speaker 2: He could definitely still out an NBA arena.
- 18:41Speaker 4: For sure, one hundred percent.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Let's just strikes a little bit talking less about the
- 18:46Speaker 5: actual fighters or plans.
- 18:49Speaker 4: But I'm curious.
- 18:50Speaker 5: You had said during our last episode, which we recorded
- 18:53Speaker 5: with the legendary sports caster Albertstein, that you didn't really
- 18:56Speaker 5: see a lot of hype out in Vegas where you are.
- 18:59Speaker 5: Did that change about the week you recorded early in
- 19:01Speaker 5: the week. What was the vibe like on your Friday
- 19:03Speaker 5: night Saturday were It wasn't the same.
- 19:07Speaker 2: It was cool, but it wasn't ell reci pece of
- 19:11Speaker 2: Ricky Hatton. It was not that the environment. It wasn't
- 19:14Speaker 2: that that was one of the craziest weeks I've ever
- 19:17Speaker 2: had in the city, that that the people came over
- 19:20Speaker 2: upon ten days early and then the drunk the city
- 19:22Speaker 2: out of alcohol.
- 19:23Speaker 3: So it wasn't that kind of weekend. It wasn't. Definitely
- 19:26Speaker 3: wasn't Paqi on Mayweather.
- 19:28Speaker 2: It was not Pati on McGregor, It wasn't pak JM.
- 19:33Speaker 2: It was because underrated, all right, underrated fan base boxing.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Our Filipino brothers and sisters are very out of the
- 19:40Speaker 2: boxing fans. They come and support, they support their guy
- 19:45Speaker 2: and they yeah, it's different, but.
- 19:49Speaker 3: This was a good weekend.
- 19:50Speaker 2: But it wasn't like a the city's buzzing, buzzing, everybody's
- 19:55Speaker 2: talking about it, everybody can't wait it was. It wasn't
- 19:58Speaker 2: ho hum, but it it wasn't like other fights in
- 20:01Speaker 2: the past. Now there could be a lot of reasons
- 20:03Speaker 2: for one. Everybody gets to watch on Netflix, so it's
- 20:06Speaker 2: not like, Oh, I gotta go to a fight party,
- 20:08Speaker 2: I gotta go to the ballroom watch it. Hell, all
- 20:11Speaker 2: of the semos had it on. I think it was
- 20:13Speaker 2: one of those things where if you got Netflix, you'll
- 20:16Speaker 2: be able to watch it. I think that's a big
- 20:18Speaker 2: part of it. But also Terrence Crawford, even though he's
- 20:22Speaker 2: an amazing boxer, we don't know him outside of boxing.
- 20:26Speaker 2: We don't know his name man outside of boxing. So
- 20:29Speaker 2: it's not gonna be like a transcendence start. Like when
- 20:33Speaker 2: Patyall was fighting, he was more popular damn there outside
- 20:36Speaker 2: of the ring than in obviously Floyd And like there's
- 20:40Speaker 2: certain guys that had more of a cachet outside of
- 20:43Speaker 2: their sport than in.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Terrence Crawford doesn't have that at the moment.
- 20:46Speaker 2: That might change, it may not, But the casual person
- 20:50Speaker 2: is knocking, like, oh, I know who that is? Like
- 20:52Speaker 2: Terrence Crawford will walk down the street and they other
- 20:54Speaker 2: person will not know who he is.
- 20:57Speaker 5: That is a very good point, Yeah, because I was
- 20:59Speaker 5: very curious of at that because we're this is a
- 21:02Speaker 5: fight in a football stadium, you know, Llegion stadium.
- 21:04Speaker 4: So I was ordering, like this is such a big
- 21:07Speaker 4: deal just in the terms of bodies going to see
- 21:09Speaker 4: the fight, Like why wasn't it typed up in town?
- 21:14Speaker 5: But it makes perfect sense. I mean, yeah, a lot
- 21:16Speaker 5: of people have Netflix. A lot of people have Netflix
- 21:19Speaker 5: and they don't care about boxing, and they just put
- 21:21Speaker 5: it on. I saw Instagram like the day after they're
- 21:25Speaker 5: having a watch party at some Mexican restaurant.
- 21:27Speaker 4: I hadn't heard of. It was like just one of
- 21:29Speaker 4: those places.
- 21:30Speaker 5: It's like a food trucks, some tables, like in the
- 21:32Speaker 5: middle of the side of the road. That was awesome,
- 21:34Speaker 5: Like I'm glad that they did that, they're having their
- 21:37Speaker 5: watch party, but like that would have never happened for
- 21:39Speaker 5: at the Zone fight, you know exactly.
- 21:41Speaker 3: And so that's the difference.
- 21:43Speaker 2: That's the that's not saying it's a bad thing, because
- 21:46Speaker 2: I think it's Netflix and watch you know, I think
- 21:49Speaker 2: that's a good thing.
- 21:50Speaker 3: That's something that we you know, we're gonna have more of,
- 21:53Speaker 3: so that's cool. However, the buzz are that same. I
- 21:56Speaker 3: think that several reasons for that.
- 21:57Speaker 2: One it is NFL season as well, footballs and fall,
- 22:00Speaker 2: but also people's funds are not like they used to be.
- 22:04Speaker 2: People's Vegas is Vegas is not a cheap place to
- 22:06Speaker 2: go to anymore. You're gonna be You're gonna pay for everything.
- 22:10Speaker 2: It's not as easy to get in here price wise
- 22:12Speaker 2: it anymore like it used to be.
- 22:14Speaker 3: So it's a little bit more difficult than it was
- 22:17Speaker 3: in the past.
- 22:18Speaker 2: But with that being said, you got seventy thousand people
- 22:21Speaker 2: in a football stadium for a boxing match, and that's
- 22:25Speaker 2: very impressive and you're twenty twenty five.
- 22:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I can't even imagine the energy being there at
- 22:31Speaker 5: that place. And I've said on record before like that
- 22:34Speaker 5: doesn't seem like fun to me, is going to see
- 22:35Speaker 5: boxing in a at a football stadium, even with concerts
- 22:38Speaker 5: Like I don't like to go if I can't afford
- 22:41Speaker 5: to have a decent seat, if I'm up in the nosebleeds,
- 22:43Speaker 5: I'd rather just I'd rather just just take that money
- 22:45Speaker 5: and go to a bar and have a good time, honestly.
- 22:48Speaker 2: So it's funny you mentioned that I got offered to
- 22:51Speaker 2: buy a six hundred dollars seat. It was like six
- 22:55Speaker 2: and change and it was nowhere close to the ring,
- 22:57Speaker 2: Like it was a decent seat, but it was just
- 22:59Speaker 2: no work. It wasn't the point where you're watching on
- 23:01Speaker 2: the screen as out of the fight, and I'm like, nah, man,
- 23:04Speaker 2: I got I have the money, but I'd rather I'd.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Rather just pocket the money and you know, watch it
- 23:11Speaker 3: at home. Yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 5: I did look at the tickets at lead to State,
- 23:15Speaker 5: and you know, I don't know why I even did,
- 23:17Speaker 5: because I know I'm not Allegiance Stadium Canelo fight in Vegas.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Uh, income racket, that's different.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I do.
- 23:26Speaker 5: I know, I don't have kids, so I do all
- 23:28Speaker 5: right for myself actually, but yeah, that is just a
- 23:30Speaker 5: whole other other level that you know, Yeah, the same
- 23:35Speaker 5: thing with you. I could have afforded like the no
- 23:39Speaker 5: nosebleediest of nosebleed seats, but yeah, that's that just doesn't
- 23:43Speaker 5: sound like like worth worth the effort to me, you know.
- 23:45Speaker 5: And when you said six hundred bucks, I'm I is
- 23:47Speaker 5: that in the parking lot?
- 23:48Speaker 4: Like you get in set six bugs.
- 23:51Speaker 2: They were decent seats, but for six hundred bucks, I
- 23:54Speaker 2: couldn't justify. And I mean I have the money, it's
- 23:57Speaker 2: just justifying. Spending that much on that at that time
- 24:01Speaker 2: did not make sense to me.
- 24:03Speaker 5: I got you know, really at the end of the day,
- 24:06Speaker 5: you know, I went to see the fight at my
- 24:08Speaker 5: go to place, the Neighborhood Bar on twenty nine Street
- 24:12Speaker 5: and Tucson best place to watch boxing. Vibe was awesome.
- 24:15Speaker 5: They had a DJ, you know, spinning in between fights.
- 24:20Speaker 5: He did the meal thing and every time Canelo was on,
- 24:23Speaker 5: and it's it's just a really good time. Good food,
- 24:26Speaker 5: lots of drinks, lots of drinks, lots of lots of
- 24:28Speaker 5: drinks and man over there and back. So you know,
- 24:32Speaker 5: I was, I was very I was as responsible as
- 24:34Speaker 5: I could have been on a night like that. But
- 24:36Speaker 5: the it was crazy. Actually, I'm surprised. Uh it was
- 24:40Speaker 5: surprise of the type. But now I understand. It wasn't
- 24:42Speaker 5: as packed as I thought it would have been. There
- 24:44Speaker 5: was a good crap.
- 24:45Speaker 4: There's a lot of people there, but again Netflix, you
- 24:48Speaker 4: know people.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, being able to you know what, I'm
- 24:52Speaker 2: cool being able to like, so getting dressed up whatever.
- 24:55Speaker 2: You could just be around the house and chilling and
- 24:57Speaker 2: turn on TV, app, commuting, tablet, whatever, and you're gonna go.
- 25:04Speaker 4: That's never really been my thing.
- 25:05Speaker 5: I've said it before, you know, I want the experience
- 25:07Speaker 5: of going somewhere and watching it and you know, the
- 25:09Speaker 5: communal vibe. That's the thing I don't really feel with
- 25:12Speaker 5: any other sport. I mean, I've been to super Bowl
- 25:14Speaker 5: watch parties. It doesn't feel the same. I don't get
- 25:16Speaker 5: that excitement, vive energy, you know, anything like that. If
- 25:20Speaker 5: I've watched the super Bowl at sports bars, at breweries,
- 25:23Speaker 5: et cetera, and it's a good time, I'm not even complaining.
- 25:25Speaker 4: I'm saying it, you know, boring or whatever.
- 25:28Speaker 5: But it's not the same as a as a killer
- 25:31Speaker 5: boxing match, especially being in Tucson with a lot of
- 25:33Speaker 5: Mexicans out here and the neighborhood specifically being like, you.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Know, how is a mixed company at the at the neighborhood.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Not definitely a lot more Hispanic folks there. I did see,
- 25:46Speaker 5: but a crab like five or six black guys. I
- 25:49Speaker 5: didn't specifically hear anything racist from the Mexican people being said,
- 25:53Speaker 5: but do you know what, I'm.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Sure it happened. I'm sure it happened. I'm just gonna
- 25:58Speaker 4: be real about that.
- 25:59Speaker 5: You know, Like I don't I don't fuck with any
- 26:02Speaker 5: of that, you know, I yeah, me personally, you know,
- 26:05Speaker 5: I love boxing, and I love I love but Crawford specifically.
- 26:09Speaker 5: But I also kind of went in there undercover and
- 26:12Speaker 5: didn't make it really clear.
- 26:13Speaker 3: That I was working for but just just in case.
- 26:15Speaker 4: But but yeah, yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 5: You know that's something that I just kind of the
- 26:21Speaker 5: point of this show. Part of one of the points
- 26:22Speaker 5: of the show is to kind of bridge that divide
- 26:25Speaker 5: between black fighters, brown fighters, and or their fans rather
- 26:28Speaker 5: and just you know, man, I don't know. At least
- 26:30Speaker 5: we didn't lose to white guy. Neither guy lost to Okay, Well.
- 26:34Speaker 2: That's the funny part. Like i'ven know how popular boxing was. Well,
- 26:39Speaker 2: I knew how it was. I probably was in Mexico.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I didn't know to what extent. I didn't know that
- 26:43Speaker 2: the fights of Mexico have like cars of like twenty
- 26:46Speaker 2: five fights and people stay of a whole car. I
- 26:49Speaker 2: was not aware up until this far. I listened to podcasts,
- 26:52Speaker 2: different things, different interviews. I didn't know I know people
- 26:55Speaker 2: I know Mexican people support they own that's a dope
- 26:59Speaker 2: thing to do. But I didn't know boxing was such
- 27:03Speaker 2: a a winner for the whole card. A we get
- 27:06Speaker 2: dressed what I didn't know it like it was very impressive.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Yeah, no, absolutely, that's something I don't know.
- 27:12Speaker 5: It's it's something I've never not known as a kid,
- 27:14Speaker 5: and you know, watching clus and just everybody, every every
- 27:18Speaker 5: Mexican in Houston knew in school the helocunos as to
- 27:22Speaker 5: as was, you.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Know, all the kids in elementary school. Even I don't know.
- 27:24Speaker 5: That's just something that uh was was ingrained this back then,
- 27:29Speaker 5: which is why I'm also such a Canilo fanboy because
- 27:31Speaker 5: he sort of brings that, uh, that energy out from
- 27:35Speaker 5: the Mexicans fans as well.
- 27:36Speaker 4: You know, I haven't really had somebody like that.
- 27:39Speaker 5: Uh And curious to see what happens to him going forward.
- 27:44Speaker 5: So he's got two more fights on the RIAT season
- 27:48Speaker 5: card under Turkey Ella shik as a promoter. Uh And
- 27:52Speaker 5: what do we think is gonna happen? I have my ideas, Jamison,
- 27:54Speaker 5: what's what's next for for our boy?
- 27:56Speaker 4: For Canelo?
- 27:57Speaker 3: I think it all comes down if there's a rematch
- 27:59Speaker 3: or not. Because little rematch or not.
- 28:00Speaker 2: That's obviously one of them, right, Like that's obviously the
- 28:03Speaker 2: common thing, and then there's not. Then I bet you
- 28:07Speaker 2: see a filler for the next one, and then can
- 28:09Speaker 2: see how things go for the last one. I don't
- 28:12Speaker 2: think there's like a huge I mean, Can is always
- 28:15Speaker 2: gonna draw, so it's always.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Gonna be people wanting to fight.
- 28:17Speaker 2: I just don't know what fights that he really wants
- 28:20Speaker 2: to make it this time.
- 28:21Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 28:23Speaker 5: See good Our producer j' right Davis, he asked on
- 28:27Speaker 5: on Blue Sky that whether we think Can's gonna fight
- 28:30Speaker 5: Benavidez or not. I gave that a straight hell no,
- 28:32Speaker 5: hell no, no, Yeah, for the reasons that I mentioned before.
- 28:39Speaker 4: You know, Benavitez is a big guy. Bevo was a
- 28:41Speaker 4: big guy.
- 28:42Speaker 5: Canelo was a little guy that got beefy and Cano
- 28:45Speaker 5: or sorry Bud Crawford was a little guy that got
- 28:47Speaker 5: beef as well, and Cal couldn't do it. So I
- 28:50Speaker 5: think it's it's eye opening for him, probably more so
- 28:54Speaker 5: than before because obviously he didn't want to Benevegas fight, right,
- 28:58Speaker 5: but that is never I would be shocked. I would
- 29:01Speaker 5: be I'll go on record and say I don't believe
- 29:04Speaker 5: it's ever gonna happen.
- 29:05Speaker 4: I've been wrong before, I've never been afraid to be wrong.
- 29:09Speaker 4: But I don't know. I mean, I can't imagine if
- 29:13Speaker 4: he's trying to, you know, milk this Saudi contract for
- 29:16Speaker 4: as much as he can, that he wouldn't take a
- 29:18Speaker 4: rematch because other than the Vedas fight, there's I don't
- 29:22Speaker 4: think there's any other fight he could make.
- 29:23Speaker 5: This really gonna get the you know, the the following,
- 29:27Speaker 5: you know, the excitement, the hype. If you really wanna,
- 29:32Speaker 5: if you really want to make this payout for you
- 29:34Speaker 5: call it's got to be another another butt fight.
- 29:36Speaker 3: We have a rematch. But here's the thing, Bud has
- 29:39Speaker 3: to one to do the rematch, Like Bud doesn't have
- 29:41Speaker 3: to be the rematch, doesn't. That's a good pun.
- 29:44Speaker 2: I don't think he would turn it down because it's
- 29:46Speaker 2: obviously favoring him a lot, But I don't think he
- 29:49Speaker 2: wants I mean, he has to want to do it,
- 29:51Speaker 2: that's the first thing. Secondly, Canelo would have to want
- 29:55Speaker 2: to do it as well. And if the money the
- 29:58Speaker 2: thing is I don't know where the general interest is
- 30:01Speaker 2: for it, obviously people will go. It will probably solid
- 30:04Speaker 2: a legion again if that's where you had it. But
- 30:06Speaker 2: I don't know if the height with the first one
- 30:10Speaker 2: would transfer to the second one.
- 30:12Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 30:14Speaker 5: Okay my opinion, I think you should take these, finish
- 30:18Speaker 5: off the Sunny contract and retire. Honestly, you know, no shade,
- 30:22Speaker 5: he's man's a legend. He also cemented himself in boxing history.
- 30:26Speaker 5: He's one of the best to ever do it. But
- 30:28Speaker 5: I would rather he you know, dipped, than just kind
- 30:31Speaker 5: of keep coming back and just become a sad situation
- 30:35Speaker 5: where you should have just passed its pride and should
- 30:36Speaker 5: retired ages ago. We've seen that as well.
- 30:40Speaker 2: That also, you've made the money, so money should not
- 30:43Speaker 2: be a should not be an option. You have a
- 30:45Speaker 2: Hall of Fame career, You're one of the best fighters
- 30:47Speaker 2: of your generation. I don't think there's anything more to prove.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Like I said, not finding better Vita, like that's not happening.
- 30:57Speaker 2: I was don't wanna read match with anyone else, play
- 31:00Speaker 2: off the string, like I said, you can have two
- 31:03Speaker 2: random fights and then call it a day.
- 31:05Speaker 3: I don't. I just don't see it. I just don't
- 31:07Speaker 3: want to see him. Could remember before this fight was made,
- 31:11Speaker 3: there's a rumor that he was gonna fight Jake.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Paul And you know, I don't think that's gonna happen,
- 31:16Speaker 2: But you know that was I think he was using
- 31:18Speaker 2: it as leverage. But yeah, I think that we see Canelo.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I don't see him taking on anything crazy. I don't
- 31:26Speaker 2: see him doing anything and challenged at this date. I
- 31:29Speaker 2: think it's gonna you know, it is what it is.
- 31:31Speaker 2: He had a great run, a hell of a run,
- 31:33Speaker 2: a lot of fights. But I agree with you, I
- 31:36Speaker 2: think it's time.
- 31:38Speaker 5: Well, there's two avenues here. Yeah, I agree with you.
- 31:41Speaker 5: We're not gonna see a Bevo rematch. We're not gonna
- 31:43Speaker 5: see it.
- 31:43Speaker 4: A bit of beat this fight. If he on, whether
- 31:45Speaker 4: there's a Butter rematch, the question.
- 31:48Speaker 5: Is is he going to take two whatever fights you
- 31:51Speaker 5: know makes money and dip or is he gonna take
- 31:53Speaker 5: these two fights and then keep going in twenty twenty
- 31:56Speaker 5: seven and forward?
- 32:00Speaker 4: And should he? You know, the man's got the man
- 32:02Speaker 4: has got a crazy, hell of an ego. Let's be
- 32:04Speaker 4: let's be legit.
- 32:04Speaker 5: You know, he he probably wanted to go out on
- 32:07Speaker 5: a high as his career was was winding down.
- 32:12Speaker 2: That but also here's the thing we don't know what
- 32:14Speaker 2: boxing looks like in another year or two. We don't
- 32:17Speaker 2: know who steps up, We don't know who emerges, We
- 32:19Speaker 2: don't know anything. So if there's something that comes out
- 32:21Speaker 2: of nowhere and presents himself, all right, I get it.
- 32:25Speaker 3: But until that actually happens, I don't know. I don't know.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he's probably gonna have to do something
- 32:34Speaker 5: outside the box, uh to get attention, even if it's
- 32:37Speaker 5: a random fight, like he said he wanted to fight
- 32:39Speaker 5: in London. Maybe he does something like that he fought
- 32:43Speaker 5: in Saturday for Maybe he does that it. Maybe he
- 32:44Speaker 5: goes back to Waldo how to you know, to his
- 32:47Speaker 5: hometown and because that that last, how do I get
- 32:49Speaker 5: that British guy sold out in like like the idea
- 32:53Speaker 5: so he could do he could do that again, so
- 32:56Speaker 5: in order to kind of not just have him sort
- 32:59Speaker 5: of putter out of the of the sport. You know,
- 33:02Speaker 5: hadn't had something like that where you can say, okay,
- 33:06Speaker 5: Canelo in London, you know him in the photo next
- 33:09Speaker 5: to the bridge and the you know, the queen or whatever.
- 33:12Speaker 3: I don't have a queen any you know what I mean?
- 33:14Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, but something like that would really he's really
- 33:17Speaker 5: gotta gotta find a hook for twenty twenty six to
- 33:21Speaker 5: uh to kind of garter the attention and the hype.
- 33:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they love the man, you know, had
- 33:28Speaker 4: an amazing career.
- 33:30Speaker 5: But he's just think though, we can't we cannot get
- 33:35Speaker 5: stuck in the situation where he had a couple of
- 33:37Speaker 5: losses and he's on his way out in his late
- 33:40Speaker 5: thirties and just say, well, he sucks.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Now, he's trashed, he's a bum, et cetera.
- 33:44Speaker 5: You know, the man had an amazing run and he
- 33:47Speaker 5: should always be given credit for that, doesn't It's not.
- 33:51Speaker 2: A bad fight either, That's the thing, right right, Yeah,
- 33:54Speaker 2: he got embarrassed out there that one he just lost.
- 33:57Speaker 2: I mean, I didn't think the fight was one thing
- 34:00Speaker 2: Team one thirteen, but it wasn't like I watched one
- 34:02Speaker 2: point one Wight, So it wasn't that anyone else he fights,
- 34:07Speaker 2: sorry night fight wins.
- 34:09Speaker 3: It's just he fought against the guy that just that
- 34:11Speaker 3: damn good.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Yeah, agreed, Oh man, I don't know.
- 34:15Speaker 5: I mean over the weekend the a r ip Ricky
- 34:18Speaker 5: hadn't Christian Mobiley versus Lester Martinez amazing fight with these
- 34:22Speaker 5: two guys on the same card.
- 34:23Speaker 4: You know, it was just a an all around.
- 34:26Speaker 5: Amazing event and just a really interesting weekend for boxing.
- 34:31Speaker 4: Uh now yeah, in a way.
- 34:32Speaker 5: Came back on Sunday, I said, I thought that after
- 34:38Speaker 5: the Canal fight, I would be able to stay awake
- 34:40Speaker 5: till I think what three forty am.
- 34:43Speaker 4: To us to know? Yeah, you know, wait, fight live
- 34:45Speaker 4: famous last words.
- 34:46Speaker 2: I'm alad you bring that up. We don't need no
- 34:48Speaker 2: flight fight starting at ten pm on local time. We
- 34:51Speaker 2: don't need that because we need nine pm to be
- 34:54Speaker 2: the because remember we're on the West coast, so it's
- 34:57Speaker 2: we were okay, but if you're in the midwest East coast,
- 35:01Speaker 2: this is rough one am start time.
- 35:03Speaker 3: It was crazy.
- 35:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I that doesn't does It doesn't bother
- 35:08Speaker 5: me because I'm a night out and I don't get
- 35:09Speaker 5: enough sleep anyway. But at the same to me, boxing
- 35:12Speaker 5: was always like the middle of the night kind of event. Uh,
- 35:14Speaker 5: you know, stay standing up late as a kid, later
- 35:16Speaker 5: than I should be to watch fights. Uh you know
- 35:19Speaker 5: with the family. I don't know, it just seems yeah,
- 35:21Speaker 5: but boxing is indoors. Boxing is you know, it's it's
- 35:25Speaker 5: a night time event. That's why when when I was,
- 35:27Speaker 5: you know, taking boxing classes and sparring, and I asked
- 35:30Speaker 5: the buddy of mine to run with me.
- 35:32Speaker 4: He was just like, yeah, let's meat up at seven
- 35:33Speaker 4: in the morning. I'm like, hell, Moore, boxing is a.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Night's I'm not gonna go.
- 35:39Speaker 5: We were like jogging in the cold in the winter,
- 35:41Speaker 5: and I'm like, this sucks. So so yeah, I get
- 35:46Speaker 5: what you're saying, but I don't know. That's always been always.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Remember it's not for us.
- 35:52Speaker 2: We're fine, bro, Like a one am start time, ain't it.
- 35:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I okay, I'll get you one am. You tell
- 36:01Speaker 5: me main event starts at midnight my time wherever I am.
- 36:04Speaker 4: I'm still okay with that, you know.
- 36:05Speaker 2: What I mean.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Yeah, but here's the issue, though, there's more people you
- 36:09Speaker 3: can get if your main.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Event starts at ten thirty eleven, sure in the night,
- 36:15Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Like, if that's the we
- 36:17Speaker 2: all thought the business mark, if that's what we're wrong,
- 36:19Speaker 2: then yeah, like we have to we gotta be smart
- 36:22Speaker 2: about this.
- 36:24Speaker 5: So one of the less things here we can finish
- 36:27Speaker 5: up with this. How do you feel about Netflix being
- 36:29Speaker 5: involved in boxing? I mean, obviously it was the fact
- 36:32Speaker 5: that Netflix, it didn't do what we what we said
- 36:36Speaker 5: could potentially happen is they throw on a fight and
- 36:38Speaker 5: then just like sits there and you want to watch
- 36:40Speaker 5: you want to watch it. There was promotion they did
- 36:42Speaker 5: they you know, they advertise all of the the press
- 36:45Speaker 5: conferences all that. You know, they really really went on
- 36:48Speaker 5: this as a major effect. Do you think it was
- 36:51Speaker 5: good for Netflix to be involved in this fight? Yeah,
- 36:53Speaker 5: it was cool. I didn't like that the post fight
- 36:56Speaker 5: fee went out. I didn't like that, but for the
- 36:58Speaker 5: most part it was cool. You know, it was clear,
- 37:03Speaker 5: it was no buffering. The servers were good, like, it
- 37:05Speaker 5: was all good. The team, the announcement team was good.
- 37:08Speaker 5: The I forgot the Skipper's card was kind of off.
- 37:11Speaker 5: I thought that was kind of weird. But whatever.
- 37:13Speaker 3: But with all that being said, it was a really
- 37:15Speaker 3: good production.
- 37:17Speaker 4: Agreed.
- 37:18Speaker 5: I think that what Netflick has to do is to
- 37:20Speaker 5: get into the smaller fights, you know, not just the
- 37:23Speaker 5: ones every like I said once every year every two
- 37:25Speaker 5: years mega fights. It's hey, remember we're the guys that
- 37:29Speaker 5: put on Canela Crawford.
- 37:30Speaker 4: Let's watch you know whatever.
- 37:32Speaker 5: I could tell me Maltpus fighter or something like that,
- 37:33Speaker 5: and just get more uh more quantity of the good
- 37:38Speaker 5: fighters that we know, right, and I think that that's
- 37:41Speaker 5: gonna be a that's gonna be a very good option
- 37:45Speaker 5: for boxing going forward.
- 37:46Speaker 4: Top rank, you know, still kind of in the wind.
- 37:48Speaker 5: I saw a thing online that now, in a way
- 37:51Speaker 5: if I was going to be broadcast live on.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Facebook, which is weird.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Yeah, so I.
- 37:57Speaker 5: Don't know what what Top Break is going to be doing,
- 38:01Speaker 5: but it's here's another thing. People on Instagram at the
- 38:06Speaker 5: very least, we're commenting, okay, so where can I see
- 38:08Speaker 5: this fight?
- 38:09Speaker 4: Where can I seek about this?
- 38:12Speaker 5: And that's what happens when you leave ESPN and you
- 38:14Speaker 5: don't have a home, as we've said, so we gotta.
- 38:18Speaker 3: How about it?
- 38:19Speaker 5: Pick something, dammit, just pick a channel, pick a streaming network.
- 38:23Speaker 2: I don't care, you know, I think that's coming because
- 38:26Speaker 2: what's happening is you have people who are in charge,
- 38:29Speaker 2: that are the adults in the room now, and that
- 38:32Speaker 2: are they're here to make a deal. They're not here
- 38:35Speaker 2: to tell you how great they are or any nonsense
- 38:40Speaker 2: like that. They're here to make a deal, which is
- 38:42Speaker 2: always good. And the guy from UFC, why am I
- 38:47Speaker 2: for not? Why am I offering his name for something?
- 38:49Speaker 3: Way? Yes? Yes, he's here to make a deal.
- 38:54Speaker 2: He's here to make sure we get fights because in
- 38:56Speaker 2: his sport, we get fights, and well we like you'll
- 38:58Speaker 2: see or not, they fight a lot and there's a
- 39:01Speaker 2: lot of big events. So with that being said, it's
- 39:05Speaker 2: a big deal. It makes a lot of sense for
- 39:09Speaker 2: there to be actual fight, you know, it makes sense
- 39:12Speaker 2: to be like, hey, you know what, let's put them
- 39:14Speaker 2: on TV. Let's have somewhere where boxing fans know where
- 39:18Speaker 2: it's gonna be at. So it makes sense.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Well that's pretty much all I had.
- 39:23Speaker 5: I don't know if there's any final thoughts you got
- 39:25Speaker 5: about this this amazing weekend.
- 39:27Speaker 4: Let's call it an amazing weekend for boxing.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Yeah, no doubt, no doubt.
- 39:31Speaker 4: All yeah, no, I can't wait to see what's the next.
- 39:35Speaker 4: I'm very curious.
- 39:36Speaker 5: I really don't feel that this is like the thing
- 39:39Speaker 5: happened and then everybody just kind of shrokes their soldiers
- 39:41Speaker 5: and I was like, all right, whatever you know for
- 39:42Speaker 5: you now, people are I feel the vibe is excitement
- 39:46Speaker 5: because but the but's the big star right now, he's
- 39:51Speaker 5: got a lot of attention that he hadn't had before.
- 39:53Speaker 5: Fans of his like ours, are excited for other people
- 39:56Speaker 5: to say, wait, this guy was this guy? Yeah, so
- 39:59Speaker 5: I I don't think it wasn't like you know, peek
- 40:02Speaker 5: and then you know the exciting that went down. Hell,
- 40:05Speaker 5: I think it's a good time for Boxing to kind
- 40:09Speaker 5: of write.
- 40:09Speaker 4: This waves as far as I.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Definitely cool.
- 40:14Speaker 4: I guess maybe call this episode what twenty last episode?
- 40:17Speaker 3: Twenty four?
- 40:17Speaker 5: Is this twenty four point five twenty five? I don't
- 40:19Speaker 5: even know bonus episode, but episode bonus episode? Yeah, okay,
