Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Chad, do you know what I would do right now
- 0:02Speaker 1: if I were listening to Hudney Withrow presented by Hard
- 0:05Speaker 1: Rock Bet and I were the SEC? I would hire
- 0:07Speaker 1: Clay Travis Law.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Accidents don't wait for a good time or good timing.
- 0:12Speaker 1: You have one bad moment, a wreck, a fall, a
- 0:14Speaker 1: doctor who wasn't paying attention. Suddenly, you're fighting an insurance
- 0:17Speaker 1: company that does this every single day. And that's why
- 0:20Speaker 1: Clay started Clay Travis Law. He's a Vanderbilt law grad
- 0:24Speaker 1: and he built a firm around one idea. People deserve
- 0:26Speaker 1: someone willing to pay attention. Ask the hard questions and
- 0:30Speaker 1: Push back when things don't add up. Experienced trial attorneys
- 0:34Speaker 1: are going to bring the fight to corporations and insurers
- 0:36Speaker 1: with Clay Travis Law because, you know what, that's what
- 0:39Speaker 1: they're founded upon. And they're based in Nashville, trusted across
- 0:42Speaker 1: the country.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Car and truck wrecks, rideshare accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability,
- 0:47Speaker 3: product liability. If you were wrong, they want to hear
- 0:50Speaker 3: about it. And here's what they promise.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Honesty.
- 0:52Speaker 3: They don't sugarcoat a thing. You'll hear what it's actually worth,
- 0:55Speaker 3: your case that being. not what you want to hear.
- 0:58Speaker 3: The case evaluation is free, no charge, no pressure, no hassle.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Just tell them your story. Go to claytravislaw.com or call 877-222-4444.
- 1:05Speaker 3: That's claytravislaw.com. No case is too big or too small
- 1:11Speaker 3: with Clay Travis Law. Hutton Brooks Carter in the YouTube
- 1:15Speaker 3: chat says that I ask sounds like a bad Apple product.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Well done.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Well done.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Brooks winning the YouTube. Kind of like my computer today.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right. Mark says, it was so bad, it's
- 1:28Speaker 3: Tim Cook's last day as CEO today with Apple.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Is it? Oh, wow. Oh, Mr. Cook. Cook is a
- 1:35Speaker 1: very popular surname.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I just want a little accountability from my quarterback. Is
- 1:40Speaker 3: that too much to ask? When asked a question about
- 1:42Speaker 3: how you assess something, if it's been bad because everybody
- 1:44Speaker 3: has two eyes that watches the Titans football game and
- 1:47Speaker 3: they can tell you it's not been good enough, then
- 1:49Speaker 3: I'm okay with you saying, yeah, it's not been good enough.
- 1:51Speaker 3: And if you want to elaborate on how it's been
- 1:53Speaker 3: better in practice or how you've gotten a lot of
- 1:55Speaker 3: good work done in practice, that's fine. But in the
- 1:58Speaker 3: preseason games that everyone watches, you, Cam Ward, have not
- 2:02Speaker 3: been good enough.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I am holding out on just declaring it, you know,
- 2:09Speaker 1: this is a disaster, okay? And here's why. It's very difficult, Chad,
- 2:16Speaker 1: for me to count him out when six years ago
- 2:20Speaker 1: he's a zero-star recruit, five years ago he's an incarnate word,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and a year and a half ago he's the number
- 2:25Speaker 1: one overall pick in the NFL. That's a fast turnaround.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And that's why I'm saying like, if he's incarnate word
- 2:35Speaker 1: right now, he better be, uh, Washington state week one.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 1: But, but I'm the, and I mentioned the intangibles on
- 2:43Speaker 1: the Tennessee power hour show that we do here. Um, I, I, uh, I, I,
- 2:49Speaker 1: the intangibles with him, I want someone who's pissed off
- 2:51Speaker 1: for greatness behind the scenes, but I don't want someone who, um,
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know, is, is constantly looking for that on edge thing. Like, um,
- 3:02Speaker 1: We saw there were Fred Warner. Fred Warner said the
- 3:08Speaker 1: same thing in a joint practice with the Titans and 49ers,
- 3:11Speaker 1: you know, with the talking trash and stuff. But I'll
- 3:13Speaker 1: say this. There's not many people that will go up
- 3:15Speaker 1: and get in the face of Jeffrey Simmons in practice.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Cam Ward's like one of three dudes who would. And
- 3:21Speaker 1: he did that as a rookie. I mean, this team
- 3:23Speaker 1: maybe needs a little bit of that bite. But, yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 1: it's always on the quarterback if it's bad play. And
- 3:32Speaker 1: if it's great play, it's on the receivers and the
- 3:33Speaker 1: offensive line. I'm totally with you.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, look, it's got to be better. The
- 3:39Speaker 3: accountability standpoint has got to be better.
- 3:42Speaker 1: All those things.
- 3:42Speaker 3: By the way, we've got a little bit of breaking
- 3:44Speaker 3: news here.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 3:45Speaker 3: During the show, Lane Kiffin has spoken, and he says
- 3:49Speaker 3: that they will absolutely abide by SEC rules if the
- 3:53Speaker 3: court rules so on Thursday. They said he's been in
- 3:56Speaker 3: constant communication with the league office. and if the hearing
- 4:01Speaker 3: turns out that the SEC does have the right to
- 4:04Speaker 3: punish LSU, then they will fall in line with SEC
- 4:07Speaker 3: rules and not roster those players. That's the latest from
- 4:11Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he's... I mean, so he's going to
- 4:17Speaker 1: win either way. He's going to look like he's abiding
- 4:20Speaker 1: by the rules when he's caused all the problems.
- 4:22Speaker 3: He's caused all the problems, and also... He could just
- 4:25Speaker 3: right now say, hey, these guys are fighting legally to
- 4:29Speaker 3: have their eyes to view it. But the SEC has
- 4:31Speaker 3: been pretty firm on this unanimous vote. So we're going
- 4:33Speaker 3: to go ahead and say, hey, guys, you can go
- 4:35Speaker 3: somewhere else and go look to another league. And you
- 4:38Speaker 3: could be done with it, but he's not doing that.
- 4:41Speaker 3: He's going to allow this court fight to play out.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And if they're granted any sort of temporary restraining order
- 4:46Speaker 3: or anything, any injunction at all, he's going to roster
- 4:49Speaker 3: those players.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Oh, man, here we go. And meanwhile, Arian Carter will
- 4:56Speaker 1: sit out.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Meanwhile, you will not see Arian Carter or Tennessee
- 5:01Speaker 3: versus Furman. Hey, that's the one game of the year.
- 5:04Speaker 3: We made fun of USC and Stanford earlier. That's the
- 5:06Speaker 3: one Tennessee game as of right now home game. That's
- 5:09Speaker 3: not a sellout.
- 5:10Speaker 1: It will be, right?
- 5:10Speaker 3: I think it's pretty drastically shy of a sellout, if
- 5:13Speaker 3: I had to guess.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I'm sure. Oh, really?
- 5:16Speaker 3: It's also 3.30 Eastern time. Dead smack, middle, late afternoon kickoff.
- 5:21Speaker 3: It is going to be surface of the sun hot
- 5:24Speaker 3: for that game. It's not going to look like USC
- 5:26Speaker 3: or Stanford, but that's the one Tennessee game this year
- 5:29Speaker 3: that's not sold out.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I'm surprised just based on the crowd we watched. I
- 5:32Speaker 1: know it's Furbin versus Bowling Green, but everyone wanted to
- 5:35Speaker 1: see Joe Milton, and you don't want to see the
- 5:36Speaker 1: freshman play?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there's going to be a lot of it.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I got offered four tickets from a good buddy.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Oh, gosh.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Shout out Alan Bean, our buddy. There we go. I'm
- 5:46Speaker 3: not going to use them because I want to watch
- 5:48Speaker 3: all the games. Let's be honest. For me, that's a
- 5:52Speaker 3: tough weekend to not be at home. I want to
- 5:55Speaker 3: be home all day watching every game as the season
- 5:58Speaker 3: kicks off.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Would you go, Jack?
- 5:59Speaker 3: I don't necessarily want to go on a Saturday and
- 6:02Speaker 3: spend my entire day traveling to and from Knoxville to
- 6:04Speaker 3: go watch a game.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Would you pay $ 28 in honor of CJ to do it?
- 6:08Speaker 3: I would rather give Chris Johnson or the ALS Foundation
- 6:12Speaker 3: or whatever it is $ 28 directly and not give my
- 6:15Speaker 3: money to a team in doing that, especially if they're
- 6:18Speaker 3: only going to use $ 5 of that $ 28.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yes. Of those tickets for sure. Chad, how many Withros
- 6:24Speaker 1: do you think there are in the U.S.
- 6:27Speaker 3: According to people who try to read my name aloud, none.
- 6:30Speaker 3: No one's ever heard of the name Withro and they
- 6:32Speaker 3: can't say it because they add letters to it.
- 6:35Speaker 1: United States... indicate about 8,000 to 9,000 people carry the
- 6:39Speaker 1: name Withrow. Okay? Okay. For Hutton, currently, no exact global count,
- 6:48Speaker 1: but from census records, roughly 35,000 to 50,000 living people
- 6:54Speaker 1: have the surname. This is worldwide. Hutton. Worldwide. United States
- 6:59Speaker 1: is 18,000 to 21,000. Okay. In the United States, last
- 7:03Speaker 1: name Hutton.
- 7:04Speaker 3: I figured there'd be a lot more than that, but
- 7:06Speaker 3: go on.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Florio. What would you guess? And again, it's not a
- 7:13Speaker 1: trick question here. It's about the same average. And this
- 7:16Speaker 1: is for... Is this just the U.S.? Worldwide. Yours didn't
- 7:21Speaker 1: pop up worldwide for some reason when I Googled it.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I'm guessing Florio is an Italian name.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I'm guessing.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I'm thinking there's a lot of Italians with the name
- 7:28Speaker 3: Florio in Italy or around Europe, but I don't know
- 7:32Speaker 3: in the States.
- 7:33Speaker 1: In Italy, it ranks among the top 600 most common surnames.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I don't know if that's a great number. I don't know.
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's no Corleone. But roughly 15,000 to 25,000 people worldwide
- 7:52Speaker 1: have Floria. Two work for and cover the NFL in
- 8:00Speaker 1: some capacity. Both are named Michael. I just came across
- 8:04Speaker 1: this because I was scrolling some headlines. In fact, I'm
- 8:08Speaker 1: reading Florio at Pro Football Talk on the court TRO
- 8:15Speaker 1: or whatever with LSU and how the SEC was at
- 8:19Speaker 1: the time thought to just take a back seat. Then
- 8:23Speaker 1: 25 minutes later, I know the story changes a bit,
- 8:25Speaker 1: but I was reading his report. I believe it was
- 8:27Speaker 1: Saturday night, Sunday morning, something like that. And Then I
- 8:32Speaker 1: go to ESPN and I start scrolling down and there
- 8:33Speaker 1: is a Michael F. Florio that's reporting on players who
- 8:39Speaker 1: could be traded at the cut deadline for fantasy football.
- 8:44Speaker 1: It was in the fantasy football thing because I was
- 8:45Speaker 1: trying to set up our league. And I'm like, what?
- 8:49Speaker 1: The NFL also in bed with pro football talk now?
- 8:50Speaker 1: You know, because they're tied in with ESPN? No, they're
- 8:53Speaker 1: totally different. And Michael F. Florio writes for ESPN saying,
- 8:58Speaker 1: And you have Mike Florio writing for Pro Football Talk.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I am totally confused by it. What are the odds
- 9:03Speaker 1: that both have the same first name? And yeah, and
- 9:06Speaker 1: they're both writing to the NFL. One guy had to
- 9:09Speaker 1: choose to go by his middle initial. Well, that's like
- 9:12Speaker 1: Michael B. Jordan and Michael Jordan. Early on in Michael B.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Jordan's career, he was Michael Jordan. And I think around
- 9:17Speaker 1: the time of Friday Night Lights. By the time he
- 9:20Speaker 1: got famous.
- 9:20Speaker 3: He changed to Michael B.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Jordan.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Do you think that Mike Florio had to switch to
- 9:25Speaker 3: Michael Florio at some point because of the confusion with
- 9:30Speaker 3: Mike Florio?
- 9:31Speaker 1: Yes.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I mean, absolutely.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Not only that, he had to go by Michael F. Florio.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Maybe it's F in. Michael F.
- 9:39Speaker 3: And Florio. I mean, incredible circumstances that would lead to
- 9:45Speaker 3: us having two Mike Florios where You know, some would
- 9:47Speaker 3: argue that one's too much.
- 9:51Speaker 1: He's one of the few that I think is not
- 9:54Speaker 1: taking money from the league or league owners. At least
- 9:57Speaker 1: from the things he'll report versus what the other... networks
- 10:00Speaker 1: will report.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Wasn't he in Clay's Woke Olympics at one point for you?
- 10:06Speaker 3: Because he was a real hard line on COVID masks,
- 10:10Speaker 3: I think, and the COVID protocols more than anything else.
- 10:14Speaker 1: The Woke Bracket or whatever it's called. Yes, it was
- 10:16Speaker 1: like the March Madness, the Woke Bracket. Chad, plenty to
- 10:24Speaker 1: get to today. We've got sorority sisters, speaking of ESPN.
- 10:27Speaker 1: They're now NIL athletes in some way. Believe it or not,
- 10:31Speaker 1: that's what I believe Nike is trying to promote in ads.
- 10:37Speaker 1: It's amazing where we are now versus where... What was
- 10:41Speaker 1: it the... They weren't called handlers. What were they called, Chad?
- 10:45Speaker 1: The girls that would drive players around on golf carts? Escorts? Hostesses.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Hostesses. They definitely didn't call them escorts. They're escorting players around.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I know what you're saying, yeah, but I don't think
- 11:02Speaker 3: they would. Let's call the escort service here on campus.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Well, maybe it was both. It could.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Have been both. Was it 10 years ago, roughly, around
- 11:12Speaker 3: that time? They call them different things at every school.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Like certain places, it's like the Golden Girls or whatever.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Then it's the hostesses at another school. They have different
- 11:19Speaker 3: names for them everywhere. The pretty girls who were hired
- 11:24Speaker 3: to show recruits around. Everybody knows what we're talking about.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Not escorts. Once upon a time, though, if more than
- 11:31Speaker 1: nine of them lived in the same home, they'd be
- 11:33Speaker 1: considered a brothel.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Legal escorts, yes. Legal escorts, that's right.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I'm saying because that was a sorority house. They didn't
- 11:40Speaker 1: have sorority homes on campus because of that, right? All
- 11:44Speaker 1: the frats got kicked off campus, so the universities had
- 11:46Speaker 1: to sell the houses to sororities. Right, right.
- 11:49Speaker 3: And, Hutton, the biggest news of the week coming up also.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Our guy Tom Cruise is back. 2028, but I've got
- 11:56Speaker 3: the countdown clock ready to go.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Straight ahead here on Hutton and Withrow. Crockett Coffee, David Crockett,
- 12:03Speaker 1: started by Clay Travis, Buck Sexton, and Buck's brother Mason.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Named after Crockett, the hunter, the storyteller, the patriot, backwoods legend.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Look at the logo, Davy Crockett, surfing on the backs
- 12:16Speaker 1: of crocodiles. That tells you everything about the attitude here. 100%
- 12:20Speaker 1: pure Arabica, high-altitude beans. Small batch, roasted right here in America.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Tennessee's the heart of the country. It ships fresh, roasted
- 12:29Speaker 1: to you. It's not sitting on a warehouse shelf for
- 12:32Speaker 1: six months or more. Light, medium, dark, decaf, organic, even
- 12:36Speaker 1: a mushroom blend. They've got great names for all these
- 12:39Speaker 1: blends as well. We need to get a list of
- 12:40Speaker 1: those for you. They're fantastic. whole bean, ground, or K-Cups,
- 12:44Speaker 1: however you make it in the morning, Chad.
- 12:46Speaker 3: That's right, and you can set up a subscription. It
- 12:48Speaker 3: shows up on your schedule. Change it or cancel it
- 12:51Speaker 3: anytime you want, as the free market intended. Free shipping
- 12:53Speaker 3: on orders of $ 59 or more, and there's a discount
- 12:56Speaker 3: for veterans. And Crockett partners with Tunnels to Towers, building
- 12:59Speaker 3: mortgage-free homes for the families of fallen service members and
- 13:02Speaker 3: for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Good coffee, made
- 13:06Speaker 3: in America, doing some good. CrockettCoffee.com. That's Crockett, C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T-Coffee.com.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Chad, Nike, they're all over college sports, right? They're sponsoring
- 13:24Speaker 1: sorority rushes now. Think about this. They are their campus
- 13:28Speaker 1: athletes for Nike. They sponsored at least six sororities during
- 13:36Speaker 1: fall rush processes, and they call the sisters of the sororities, quote,
- 13:40Speaker 1: campus athletes. I mean, we've got Sidney Sweeney with her
- 13:44Speaker 1: own lingerie company now. We have Nike back in the
- 13:47Speaker 1: fold sponsoring sorority rush. Where are we? Are we back
- 13:52Speaker 1: in time here? That's their group that they keep top
- 13:57Speaker 1: of mind, as Front Office Sports says. The group top
- 14:00Speaker 1: of mind on campus, sororities. Throughout August, Nike sponsored rush
- 14:05Speaker 1: events for at least six sororities and colleges across the country,
- 14:08Speaker 1: including South Carolina, Texas, and Arizona State. I wonder what
- 14:12Speaker 1: those areas are known for, Chad. Beautiful co-eds.
- 14:16Speaker 3: It's amazing, Hutton, that it feels like we're living in
- 14:19Speaker 3: a 1980s beer commercial right now, a light beer commercial.
- 14:22Speaker 3: With everything we see, the Sidney Sweeney ad, another example
- 14:25Speaker 3: of this. But companies like Nike going away from... almost
- 14:32Speaker 3: in a fearful way, going away from super attractive women,
- 14:36Speaker 3: super attractive young women in advertising. And now they're running
- 14:39Speaker 3: towards that and getting involved with sororities. It's an incredible pivot.
- 14:43Speaker 3: And I think a smart one for these companies, because
- 14:46Speaker 3: as we know, this sells, it has throughout time and
- 14:49Speaker 3: it will again. Something else that I read about over
- 14:52Speaker 3: the weekend that amazes me, you've got this influx of
- 14:55Speaker 3: Northern people, Northeasterners that are going to SEC schools and
- 14:59Speaker 3: And you have parents of these young women from Connecticut
- 15:04Speaker 3: and New York and Massachusetts and all these places. They
- 15:07Speaker 3: are paying between $ 2, 500 and $ 10, 000 for a rush consultant.
- 15:13Speaker 3: These are women in the South who will train their
- 15:17Speaker 3: daughters on etiquette and how to get in the best
- 15:20Speaker 3: possible sorority at Ole Miss or Alabama or Auburn or
- 15:25Speaker 3: an SEC school because so many... of these young northern
- 15:29Speaker 3: women have no clue how to socially get along with
- 15:32Speaker 3: all these southerners, so they train them up on it
- 15:35Speaker 3: before they get to campus and then go through Rush.
- 15:37Speaker 1: That's insane to me. They're all just a bunch of
- 15:40Speaker 1: Scarlett O'Haras.
- 15:41Speaker 3: I mean, but the fact that, like, now you have
- 15:44Speaker 3: women in the Northeast that their goal is to get
- 15:47Speaker 3: to an SEC campus so they can be in the
- 15:49Speaker 3: best sorority. Wild times we're living in, Hutton. It's a
- 15:53Speaker 3: real resurgence for the South is what we're hearing.
- 15:55Speaker 1: All looking for their rep butlers.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. They're going to find that gentleman. There's no doubt
- 16:00Speaker 3: about it, one way or the other. Speaking of a
- 16:02Speaker 3: resurgence for the South.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Tom Cruise, baby.
- 16:06Speaker 1: And right on time with the list we had, the
- 16:11Speaker 1: depth chart last week.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Tom Cruise, we had the depth chart last week. I
- 16:15Speaker 3: wrote the column at Sporting State. The top five actors
- 16:18Speaker 3: that are most in line to take over for Tom Cruise.
- 16:21Speaker 3: And Tom Cruise posting this. He also posted a video
- 16:25Speaker 3: on Instagram that was pretty great. Him and Anne Hathaway.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Days of Thunder, summer 2028. I saw the initial shot.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I'm like, who's the actress with him? I had to
- 16:34Speaker 3: really zoom in to see that it was Anne Hathaway,
- 16:37Speaker 3: who I do like a lot. Anne Hathaway is pregnant
- 16:39Speaker 3: right now because in the video she says, I'm going
- 16:42Speaker 3: to have this baby and then we're going to make
- 16:44Speaker 3: this movie. Because they're kind of joking. He's like, so
- 16:46Speaker 3: what do we do now? And they're awkwardly standing on
- 16:48Speaker 3: the car. And she says, well, we make the movie.
- 16:50Speaker 3: And she said, first I'm going to have this baby,
- 16:52Speaker 3: then we're going to make the movie. And then he says,
- 16:54Speaker 3: it's going to be great in 2028. And Anne Hathaway says,
- 16:57Speaker 3: you really want to go with that? To Tom, who
- 16:59Speaker 3: just continues smiling like a maniac the whole time, says, yeah, sure.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I can't wait, Hutton. Top Gun Maverick showed the blueprint
- 17:07Speaker 3: for nostalgic IP from back in the day that makes
- 17:11Speaker 3: you feel a certain way about America, about masculinity, about speed,
- 17:17Speaker 3: about all of that. It showed that it was a
- 17:19Speaker 3: huge blockbuster. So much so they're going to make another
- 17:22Speaker 3: Top Gun as well at some point because it's going
- 17:25Speaker 3: to print money. Days of Thunder is right in line
- 17:28Speaker 3: with that Top Gun. The Need for Speed, Americana, NASCAR,
- 17:33Speaker 3: The South.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Bring it on.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Tom Cruise, back as Cole Trickle in 2028.
- 17:38Speaker 1: And whenever I saw this text from you, Chad, I
- 17:43Speaker 1: immediately was handed my... This is my differentiator, basically, with
- 17:49Speaker 1: what I was looking for the next Tom Cruise, is
- 17:52Speaker 1: someone who can announce a movie that's coming out In
- 17:56Speaker 1: a year. Back in theaters. And the anticipation's there. That's
- 18:02Speaker 1: the different category, I'm saying, between him and someone like
- 18:06Speaker 1: The Rock. The Rock's announcing what's coming up in Blockbuster
- 18:10Speaker 1: this summer or this fall or this Christmas. And you've
- 18:13Speaker 1: got Tom Cruise who's, say, 2028. He's like, the Titan
- 18:20Speaker 1: Stadium will be open. We'll have a full Titan season
- 18:22Speaker 1: in by then.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't wait. I mean, it's a long way
- 18:26Speaker 3: off for sure. Like we're talking about something two years
- 18:28Speaker 3: away in the summer of 2028. But I'm excited. I
- 18:32Speaker 3: don't know if you saw it, but Randy Quaid, who
- 18:34Speaker 3: was in the original Days of Thunder, who's gone a
- 18:37Speaker 3: little bit off the reservation since then, hasn't worked in
- 18:39Speaker 3: a while. He is pissed off for greatness that Anne
- 18:42Speaker 3: Hathaway is in this movie and has gone nuts about
- 18:44Speaker 3: him not being in it. Someone, David, in our YouTube
- 18:47Speaker 3: chat saying, you know, Hathaway, not exactly popular in the
- 18:52Speaker 3: Days of Thunder demographic. And I'm thinking, she's going to
- 18:55Speaker 3: be great. She's a good actress. She's going to put
- 18:58Speaker 3: on a Southern accent. She's done it before. She's going
- 19:02Speaker 3: to be really good. And she's also playing a team owner.
- 19:05Speaker 3: So I saw that she is a team owner slash
- 19:08Speaker 3: engineer of a NASCAR team in this movie. Now, my
- 19:13Speaker 3: speculation immediately goes up, and is she going to be
- 19:15Speaker 3: Tom Cruise's love interest? To which, you know, I'm like,
- 19:18Speaker 3: it would make sense because every leading man in Hollywood
- 19:21Speaker 3: has someone much younger than They're actually a bit closer
- 19:24Speaker 3: in age than I thought. Only 21 years difference between
- 19:27Speaker 3: Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway. She's 43. He is 64. So,
- 19:32Speaker 3: I mean, look, in today's world, you know, that makes
- 19:34Speaker 3: sense for them possibly hooking up in this movie also.
- 19:38Speaker 3: I would put about 80% that they're definitely hooking up
- 19:41Speaker 3: in this movie.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Can we go back to the graphic, guys? I'm going
- 19:43Speaker 1: to look up. How tall is Anne Hathaway? Because she's
- 19:46Speaker 1: standing next to him.
- 19:47Speaker 3: She's got the hat on, which makes her... She looks
- 19:50Speaker 3: like she's taller than Tom Cruise right here.
- 19:53Speaker 1: She's 5'8. Yeah, Tom Cruise is 5'7. Yeah. But you see,
- 19:58Speaker 1: he's also on a probably... Who knows? Who knows? with
- 20:02Speaker 1: all this, but I just like going back to his height,
- 20:05Speaker 1: like the whole, the whole conversation is fascinating based on
- 20:08Speaker 1: like how he marketed himself to get where he was.
- 20:10Speaker 1: I love the, I love the superstar aspect of it.
- 20:13Speaker 1: And I guess Randy Quaid was an Emily Blunt fan
- 20:16Speaker 1: in Devil Wears Prada.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Yeah. I think she was definitely team Emily Blunt. He
- 20:20Speaker 3: was definitely that for sure. I saw, if you click
- 20:23Speaker 3: on the video that you watch, you know, your algorithm
- 20:25Speaker 3: ties you into all these other things with it. And
- 20:27Speaker 3: there's all these photos of Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway
- 20:30Speaker 3: walking into Daytona International. So that was filmed on the
- 20:34Speaker 3: track in Daytona. And they're like a security guard or
- 20:37Speaker 3: a cop walking them into the back entrance of it
- 20:40Speaker 3: when no one was there. And there was still someone
- 20:42Speaker 3: working there that got a picture of the two of
- 20:44Speaker 3: them walking in to do this promo shoot for Days
- 20:47Speaker 3: of Thunder 2028. I can't wait, Hutton. Let's bring back.
- 20:51Speaker 3: If Tom Cruise wanted to remake Cocktail again, like anything
- 20:55Speaker 3: late 80s, early 90s Cruise, I'm there for it on
- 20:58Speaker 3: opening weekend. if they brought back some of these movies,
- 21:01Speaker 3: I think days of thunder is going to be really good.
- 21:03Speaker 3: It's a hokey movie, the original, but it's fun start
- 21:06Speaker 3: to finish. Um, no, Nicole Kidman coming back. It was
- 21:09Speaker 3: his love interest in that one. And they got married
- 21:12Speaker 3: based on that movie. Um, but we will have Anne Hathaway.
- 21:15Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be great. And I think the
- 21:17Speaker 3: odds are good that their relationship will not be completely platonic.
- 21:20Speaker 3: It's not going to be a work only relationship between
- 21:22Speaker 3: Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway. That's, that's my guess.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Um, uh, Nicole Kidman also married slash separated, whatever they're doing,
- 21:30Speaker 1: to another very short man in Keith Urban.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Yes. She likes men who are shorter than her. I
- 21:36Speaker 3: wonder if she's going to, is the next guy going
- 21:38Speaker 3: to be tall? That's the question.
- 21:40Speaker 1: No.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Everyone that she's been with, I mean, she's a tall woman,
- 21:43Speaker 3: but she's like 5'9. You know, she's not.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I'm here to call.
- 21:47Speaker 3: She's not Sophie Cunningham, right? She's not that tall, but
- 21:52Speaker 3: she's taller than every guy she's ever been with.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Sophie is what, 6'1? Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Hutton is taller than Nicole Kidman. I am, but I'm
- 21:58Speaker 3: not taller than Sophie Cunningham.
- 21:59Speaker 4: No.
- 22:00Speaker 1: But we look eye to eye.
- 22:02Speaker 3: We look eye to eye. You'd have to wear those
- 22:05Speaker 3: riser boots that Prince wore to be taller than Sophie Cunningham.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Everywhere you went.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Game.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Blouses.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Game.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Blouses.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Just like Prince had a lot of back issues from
- 22:14Speaker 3: wearing those on stage, Hutton, too, developed back problems from
- 22:17Speaker 3: wearing those.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Yes. Hey, we discussed Charles Hough coming up and a new–
- 22:24Speaker 1: A new Titans slogan, a soft launch that I think
- 22:26Speaker 1: could have launched over the past, what, now six days
- 22:31Speaker 1: that maybe or maybe not you didn't pick up on.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Let's straight ahead here on Hutton and Withrow. It is

- 23:49Speaker 1: Chad, Charles Huff grabbed our attention this weekend. He did.
- 23:53Speaker 3: And Charles Huff, a no-nonsense coach that we love, Hutton.
- 23:56Speaker 3: He's not about playing music in practice. He's about working
- 23:59Speaker 3: these guys. I think at one point he said, I'm
- 24:02Speaker 3: borderline child services. It's going to be called on me
- 24:04Speaker 3: with how we push the edge of how hard we
- 24:06Speaker 3: practice and how long we practice. Charles Huff is a
- 24:09Speaker 3: man after one thing, banging hats. And that's exactly how
- 24:14Speaker 3: he described how his team practices and works out.
- 24:17Speaker 2: The program starts in January.
- 24:19Speaker 4: And everybody else is just touching a common wound and
- 24:22Speaker 4: feeling really good about themselves.
- 24:24Speaker 2: We're taking them into the deep water. That's our process.
- 24:27Speaker 4: We plan to win the game in the fourth quarter
- 24:30Speaker 4: because we work harder than a lot of other teams.
- 24:32Speaker 4: That's the motto we convince them that it is. So
- 24:35Speaker 4: when we get to the fourth quarter, we practice a lot.
- 24:37Speaker 4: I know you guys don't get to go out there,
- 24:39Speaker 4: but we are borderline child services, they can be called.
- 24:45Speaker 2: We're right on the edge. We're right on the edge.
- 24:49Speaker 2: We really work our guys really hard.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Why?
- 24:51Speaker 2: Because life's hard. Life's really hard. Life is not easy.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Your jobs are not easy.
- 24:58Speaker 4: But we take them into that realm of rep overload,
- 25:03Speaker 4: you know, going multiple days.
- 25:05Speaker 2: In a row, doing all of those things.
- 25:09Speaker 4: So in the fourth quarter, when everybody else is breathing heavy,
- 25:11Speaker 4: we've been here.
- 25:14Speaker 2: We are the Navy SEALs training. Everybody else is the military.
- 25:18Speaker 2: It takes a special group to be Navy SEALs. I
- 25:20Speaker 2: go viral. I'm not saying we're the same as Navy SEALs.
- 25:24Speaker 2: I'm not saying that we're comparing us to Navy SEALs.
- 25:26Speaker 2: What I'm saying is our training is different.
- 25:29Speaker 4: So we train different so we can play different. Now,
- 25:32Speaker 4: if we don't execute, we can practice all night. But
- 25:36Speaker 4: the training we do prepares us for the fourth quarter
- 25:38Speaker 4: so we can start to dominate games. Now, we got
- 25:41Speaker 4: to be better in the first quarter so that we
- 25:43Speaker 4: don't have to get to that every time.
- 25:44Speaker 2: This doesn't always work out. But tough all day is
- 25:47Speaker 2: not a slogan.
- 25:49Speaker 1: It's not a slogan.
- 25:50Speaker 2: It is our process.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Suffering well is not a slogan.
- 25:54Speaker 3: It's our process.
- 25:55Speaker 4: I think the kids are starting to understand what that
- 25:58Speaker 4: means now.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Again, we still got a lot of.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Work to do.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I don't want everybody to think that, write the book,
- 26:03Speaker 2: we're going to the national championships. That's not what I'm saying.
- 26:07Speaker 2: What I'm saying is this is a positive start.
- 26:09Speaker 4: And we still have to acknowledge a positive start.
- 26:13Speaker 2: While acknowledging areas we need to improve in, if that
- 26:15Speaker 2: makes sense.
- 26:17Speaker 3: I love this guy, Hutton. Absolutely love Charles Huff and
- 26:20Speaker 3: everything he stands for. And I'm sure someone, once he said,
- 26:22Speaker 3: you know, we're Navy SEALs and they're in military, he
- 26:25Speaker 3: had to back up that truck because someone said, you're
- 26:27Speaker 3: not a Navy SEAL.
- 26:28Speaker 1: He probably saw someone look at his phone and post
- 26:30Speaker 1: something immediately.
- 26:32Speaker 3: But we knew exactly what he's saying with how they
- 26:36Speaker 3: train and what he's trying to accomplish at Memphis. Hutton,
- 26:39Speaker 3: I love that that Memphis program, so many athletes over
- 26:43Speaker 3: the years, great area to recruit out of in terms
- 26:46Speaker 3: of talent. but I think at times lack an identity
- 26:50Speaker 3: with the program. Charles Huff is establishing that identity. Now,
- 26:55Speaker 3: the scary part is I don't know that Charles Huff
- 26:57Speaker 3: makes it more than one year at Memphis because somebody's
- 27:00Speaker 3: going to try to hire him after this year. Florida
- 27:02Speaker 3: State is a good example. I think Florida State's going
- 27:05Speaker 3: to be in the market for a new coach after
- 27:06Speaker 3: Mike Norvell fails this year, as he has in recent years.
- 27:10Speaker 3: And I think Charles Huff is a guy they're going
- 27:11Speaker 3: to be calling because Memphis is going to be really good.
- 27:15Speaker 1: They're good, and look, he's got all the background where
- 27:18Speaker 1: it's like he's touched the cloak of Nick Saban, right? Yeah.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Just like in the NFL, if you touch the cloak
- 27:24Speaker 1: of Vic Vey. He's great for Memphis, I know that.
- 27:29Speaker 1: He is. He's a no-nonsense guy, and that just seems
- 27:34Speaker 1: like the opposite of what's going on with the basketball program.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right. When you look at him compared to Penny–
- 27:41Speaker 3: But that's the unfortunate part about Memphis. Now, you can
- 27:43Speaker 3: also become that program, and it has been in the past.
- 27:46Speaker 3: You know, Ryan Silverfield, Mike Norvell, great example from Memphis
- 27:49Speaker 3: to Florida State. Ryan Silverfield, the latest example, Memphis to Arkansas.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Coaches there tend to go and get bigger jobs and
- 28:00Speaker 3: have maybe better opportunities in a power conference. I think
- 28:03Speaker 3: Charles Huff's going to have a lot of options after
- 28:05Speaker 3: this season, the way this has started. And I think
- 28:08Speaker 3: Memphis is going to be a really good football team.
- 28:11Speaker 3: And he very well could be a one and done,
- 28:12Speaker 3: which sucks for Memphis. But it's also, if it's not
- 28:15Speaker 3: a one and done situation, we know everything's fluid in
- 28:19Speaker 3: college football with transfer portal and everything else. But it
- 28:22Speaker 3: feels like he's truly establishing a culture there. And you
- 28:25Speaker 3: watch the whole second half. I mean, it proved itself
- 28:28Speaker 3: out over the course of that second half against a
- 28:30Speaker 3: good UNLV team. It's got, you know, a former five-star
- 28:34Speaker 3: quarterback in high school in Jackson Arnold.
- 28:37Speaker 1: They went back and forth, man. It was a, it
- 28:40Speaker 1: was an arena football league game. It was fun. The blast. And,
- 28:45Speaker 1: you know, it was second or third, third quarter, maybe where, uh,
- 28:48Speaker 1: Huff got the personal foul on sports, but like, it
- 28:51Speaker 1: was like on the head coach visiting team. And he
- 28:54Speaker 1: went over and had to apologize to his team. And
- 28:56Speaker 1: then they came right back and bailed him out with
- 28:58Speaker 1: a touchdown. Cause they took them out of what looked
- 29:00Speaker 1: like a stall, a drive. And then bam, right after
- 29:03Speaker 1: that play touchdown Memphis, uh, a lot of fun, a
- 29:07Speaker 1: lot of fun in that game.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Well, and it's, it's also crazy. I don't know if
- 29:13Speaker 3: you saw the beginning of the game, but this kind
- 29:15Speaker 3: of ties into our Mount Rushmore, the state of Tennessee
- 29:17Speaker 3: last week, Dan Mullen ran out with an Elvis impersonator
- 29:22Speaker 3: in Vegas next to him. And everyone was immediately saying,
- 29:24Speaker 3: how about the troll job when you're playing Memphis, that
- 29:27Speaker 3: it's UNLV who runs out with Elvis before the game.
- 29:31Speaker 3: So we got, you know, I got into a lot
- 29:32Speaker 3: of hot water because how dare you not include Elvis
- 29:35Speaker 3: as a Tennessean I'm like I don't think of Elvis
- 29:38Speaker 3: as a Tennessean sorry I just don't I think of
- 29:40Speaker 3: Elvis as a national guy who was born in Tupelo
- 29:42Speaker 3: Mississippi but everyone else because of Graceland wanted to tie
- 29:45Speaker 3: him in but I thought that was a funny tie-in
- 29:47Speaker 3: that UNLV and Dan Mullen maybe they do that every
- 29:49Speaker 3: game but just the fact that they were playing Memphis
- 29:53Speaker 3: and he's running out with Elvis.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Chad, I'm going to keep this an amended version here,
- 29:58Speaker 1: but I'm with the floor tomorrow. But I'm going to
- 30:00Speaker 1: bring this up right now because I'm going to tie
- 30:04Speaker 1: in what I mentioned earlier about some thoughts on the
- 30:06Speaker 1: soft launch. Because I've got a bigger version of this
- 30:10Speaker 1: that they need to soft launch as an organization with
- 30:13Speaker 1: a hard launch. But going into the weekend, there was a– again,
- 30:22Speaker 1: this was not intentional by Robert Sala. but he unknowingly
- 30:26Speaker 1: has soft launched a slogan that by mid season, this
- 30:31Speaker 1: team could absolutely try to pick up on just like
- 30:35Speaker 1: they tried to market collaboration and like they tried to
- 30:39Speaker 1: market draft, develop, retain all bare basement level type slogans
- 30:46Speaker 1: that everybody wants to do within their own organizations. Literally
- 30:49Speaker 1: every team would like to draft, develop, retain and have collaboration. Um,
- 30:55Speaker 1: But he's been all gas, no brakes. That is the
- 30:58Speaker 1: only slogan in the facility. That's it. You know, like
- 31:03Speaker 1: preparation leads to, you know, production, all that. No, no, no, no,
- 31:07Speaker 1: none of that. None of this, you know, physical play. No,
- 31:11Speaker 1: it is all gas, no brakes. That message is to
- 31:14Speaker 1: the players, and that still remains. But there was a
- 31:18Speaker 1: message yesterday. that he said twice within a three-day span
- 31:22Speaker 1: in back-to-back pressers, the one where he also said that
- 31:24Speaker 1: starters were going to play about a half in the
- 31:27Speaker 1: final preseason game. That was right after the joint practice
- 31:30Speaker 1: with the Bears. And then he said it post-game with
- 31:31Speaker 1: the Bears too. And the quote is, this is our floor.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Now I know what Robert Sala is saying. He is
- 31:38Speaker 1: saying where they are in week one is not where
- 31:40Speaker 1: this team is going to be in week 18 because
- 31:43Speaker 1: they are going to go up the staircase. They are
- 31:47Speaker 1: going to go up the elevator because he and his
- 31:49Speaker 1: staff are going to develop this team. That's what he means.
- 31:52Speaker 1: And I totally understand that. I get that. And I
- 31:55Speaker 1: agree with him because that's what he's paid to do.
- 31:58Speaker 1: And in that same press conference, he said that he
- 31:59Speaker 1: believes in Cam Ward. He doesn't think he's going to
- 32:02Speaker 1: fail because if he does, his job's on the line
- 32:04Speaker 1: for it. He also said that. Great. My fear is like, well,
- 32:10Speaker 1: I know what he's saying. I'm not sure if we'll
- 32:12Speaker 1: see that from the From the business side of things,
- 32:15Speaker 1: whenever they pick up on this and they hear it
- 32:17Speaker 1: and go, oh, this is our floor. Man, we lost
- 32:20Speaker 1: to the Jets and the Giants, and this is our floor.
- 32:23Speaker 1: We're getting better every week, guys. We're getting better every week.
- 32:26Speaker 1: And then the media starts to regurgitate that. Then you
- 32:29Speaker 1: have the fans who start to say, yeah, man, we
- 32:33Speaker 1: made it past Halloween this year before we were waving
- 32:35Speaker 1: the white flag. Congratulations, Titans. This is progress. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Going four or five wins instead of three is not
- 32:42Speaker 1: progress because you're still on the same floor with the
- 32:45Speaker 1: teams who are picking top five. You're still in the
- 32:48Speaker 1: cellar in that regard. So I'm not going to sell
- 32:51Speaker 1: progress based on one more win or making it past
- 32:54Speaker 1: Halloween before your season's dead in the water. This is
- 32:59Speaker 1: more than that. Your floor better be continuing to stack
- 33:05Speaker 1: upon really good performances and actually win in the month
- 33:09Speaker 1: of September. actually win a week one game for the
- 33:12Speaker 1: first time in like five years. How about beat the
- 33:14Speaker 1: New York Jets, who are also basement level with you?
- 33:18Speaker 1: We're talking about the Jets. You're not opening the season
- 33:21Speaker 1: against the Seahawks. You're opening against the New York Jets,
- 33:25Speaker 1: and the floor better be a win in week one.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Not in December when you're losing out the number one pick,
- 33:30Speaker 1: but you're pretending through the media like the wins matter
- 33:33Speaker 1: when they don't. 85% of this team or whatever was
- 33:37Speaker 1: playing on that team that isn't back right now. Those
- 33:39Speaker 1: wins did not matter to this team. You still got
- 33:42Speaker 1: Carnell Tate. Congratulations, you had the fourth pick. But guess
- 33:45Speaker 1: who also was right there with you? The Jets and
- 33:48Speaker 1: the Giants. You played both of them in the month
- 33:49Speaker 1: of September, and you have sucked in that month of September.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Your floor better be a higher one than what we've seen. Otherwise,
- 33:57Speaker 1: GTFO with all these catch slogans that you're going to
- 34:00Speaker 1: catch on to when you're losing in October because you
- 34:03Speaker 1: sucked in September. I don't want to hear about Week 18.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Week 18 is a long time from right now if
- 34:09Speaker 1: you're the Tennessee Titans. Kick off the Robert Sala era
- 34:12Speaker 1: with all gas, no brakes, and realize that you're facing
- 34:15Speaker 1: the New York freaking Jets. They suck. But at least
- 34:19Speaker 1: they won back-to-back games last year, something the Titans haven't
- 34:23Speaker 1: done since they fired John Robinson. It has been since then,
- 34:27Speaker 1: since we've seen the Tennessee Titans win two games in
- 34:29Speaker 1: a row. Two games in a row. This is their floor.
- 34:34Speaker 1: And I don't want to hear this. I don't want
- 34:35Speaker 1: to hear that. Let's not regurgitate this for them. Because
- 34:39Speaker 1: the floor is such a low bar to meet to
- 34:43Speaker 1: be an NFL organization right now. Win against the Jets.
- 34:48Speaker 1: That's all that we should be talking about. That's it.
- 34:52Speaker 1: And again, win early instead of talking about what's happening later.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Because the fans who have paid to go to preseason games,
- 35:01Speaker 1: that are paying $ 28 to donate $ 5 to... ALS in
- 35:06Speaker 1: honor of CJ2K. Chad, the fans who are funding PSLs
- 35:13Speaker 1: for a second time, they're doing that nearly as quickly
- 35:18Speaker 1: and as soon as the Titans have won back-to-back games.
- 35:20Speaker 1: That is their floor. And I'm not criticizing Robert Sala
- 35:25Speaker 1: because Robert Sala, I think, is more alpha and more
- 35:27Speaker 1: football than entertainment. And I'm all here for that. But
- 35:31Speaker 1: I don't want to get catchphrases going where I'm hearing
- 35:35Speaker 1: the coach roll this out there for the second time
- 35:37Speaker 1: in three days when I haven't heard it, period. Since,
- 35:40Speaker 1: I don't know, they have the best offensive coordinator hire
- 35:45Speaker 1: of the offseason. They have Robert Sala in his second year,
- 35:48Speaker 1: or second tenure as a head coach. What, the second
- 35:51Speaker 1: or third, wherever you want to rank it, best hire
- 35:54Speaker 1: of the offseason, according to some. You have guys who
- 35:57Speaker 1: have been there and done that before. You're playing the
- 35:59Speaker 1: Jets with Aaron Glenn as their head coach. He's a
- 36:03Speaker 1: good defensive coordinator. Last time I checked, Robert Sala has
- 36:06Speaker 1: been great at calling plays defensively with his systems. Same
- 36:09Speaker 1: thing in offense with Brian Dable. They're rolling in Geno Smith.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Geno Smith is the starting quarterback for the Jets week one.
- 36:16Speaker 1: You have the number one overall picket quarterback, the number
- 36:18Speaker 1: four overall picket wide receiver, the best player in a
- 36:21Speaker 1: three technique on defense in the entire NFL. Beat the Jets.
- 36:26Speaker 1: And then let's start talking about... This is our rise
- 36:30Speaker 1: instead of talking about floor because it's a basement level
- 36:33Speaker 1: and it's been there for a long time.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Very well said by you. The Jets are a team
- 36:37Speaker 3: that's tanking, it looks like to me, to get a
- 36:40Speaker 3: high pick and go get that quarterback that they need.
- 36:43Speaker 3: You need to beat the Jets. This is our floor.
- 36:45Speaker 3: It better damn well should be. This has to be
- 36:49Speaker 3: the floor, and you have to build from that as
- 36:52Speaker 3: you go throughout the year. I also hear a line like,
- 36:54Speaker 3: this is our floor. And I can't help but think
- 36:56Speaker 3: that this is a rehearsal for when they lose to
- 36:58Speaker 3: the Jets. You're going to be hearing a lot of, hey,
- 37:00Speaker 3: this is our floor, and everyone should have expected this,
- 37:03Speaker 3: and then you've got to get better.
- 37:05Speaker 1: That's what I'm alluding to. I don't think Sala is
- 37:07Speaker 1: rehearsing anything. He's talking about a young team, and he's saying, oh,
- 37:11Speaker 1: we've got a young football team, maybe the youngest in
- 37:13Speaker 1: the league. Guess who? The youngest age, on average, for
- 37:17Speaker 1: an NFL team last year was 25 years old. There
- 37:20Speaker 1: were roughly five teams who averaged 25 years old. The
- 37:23Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks were one of them. So I don't want
- 37:26Speaker 1: to hear about the youth of the National Football League.
- 37:30Speaker 1: I'm not. And we see worst to first all the time.
- 37:33Speaker 1: So this is our floor. Again, every team right now
- 37:38Speaker 1: is saying that. If you didn't finish first in your
- 37:41Speaker 1: division or you finished last last year. Salah is not
- 37:47Speaker 1: to be critical. I'm not criticizing him here. But I
- 37:49Speaker 1: will be critical if they pick up on this and
- 37:51Speaker 1: act like, they're the puppeteer of what has been just
- 37:55Speaker 1: a horrific garbage entertainment product that goes into a new
- 38:00Speaker 1: stadium with a floor that is reminiscent of what we
- 38:03Speaker 1: saw last year, too.
- 38:06Speaker 3: And it's one game out of 17. We all understand that.
- 38:09Speaker 3: But it's way more than that.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 38:11Speaker 3: For every reason you just said. It's the New York
- 38:13Speaker 3: Jets who are tanking for a quarterback. It looks to
- 38:16Speaker 3: me this season that that's the position they're going to
- 38:19Speaker 3: be in. I really think if the Titans lose this
- 38:21Speaker 3: game at home and Cam Ward doesn't look good, that
- 38:24Speaker 3: is a sign that we could be weeks away from
- 38:27Speaker 3: discussing the Titans doing the exact same thing as the Jets.
- 38:31Speaker 3: And that is losing as many games again as possible
- 38:34Speaker 3: to go draft one of the top quarterbacks. That's how
- 38:37Speaker 3: important this game is. I'm not putting a timetable on it.
- 38:40Speaker 3: I don't know what it looks like. I'm not saying
- 38:42Speaker 3: you're replacing Cam Ward right now. We haven't played a
- 38:44Speaker 3: regular season game yet. But if you lose that game
- 38:47Speaker 3: and he's really bad in this game, Hutton, you better
- 38:50Speaker 3: damn well believe everybody's going to start putting a clock
- 38:53Speaker 3: on Cam Ward and saying, you don't have much time
- 38:56Speaker 3: to figure this out. Because if you get to Halloween,
- 38:58Speaker 3: like you said, and this team's already done for the
- 39:01Speaker 3: year after losing that game, then you're probably going to
- 39:04Speaker 3: go ahead and start looking at tanking to go replace
- 39:06Speaker 3: Cam Ward.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Yeah, like they did a year ago when they fired
- 39:09Speaker 1: Callahan before Halloween. Yeah. And I'm not saying Salah's on
- 39:12Speaker 1: the hot seat that quickly either, but he knows he
- 39:14Speaker 1: will be next year. You can shake your head all
- 39:17Speaker 1: you want to. They haven't won back-to-back games since they
- 39:21Speaker 1: fired their GM that was 7-5. So let's lay that out. Also,
- 39:26Speaker 1: Cam Ward, no one's going to be coddling him. We
- 39:31Speaker 1: know that from the head coach. I'm not going to
- 39:33Speaker 1: coddle the head coach of the OC either. They don't
- 39:35Speaker 1: want to be. So let's not coddle the organization if
- 39:38Speaker 1: they roll out and suck again. Because last I checked,
- 39:41Speaker 1: it was all gas, no break, and Jeffrey Simmons and
- 39:43Speaker 1: the entire defense is mic'd up talking about how they're
- 39:45Speaker 1: hungry and they're starving. Beat the Jets. I mean, beat
- 39:51Speaker 1: a basement-level team where you currently exist. Crawl your way
- 39:57Speaker 1: out of it. And you do that by taking belts
- 39:59Speaker 1: to asses instead of talking about floors. Chad, we start
- 40:06Speaker 1: on our bottom floor for the upcoming football season with
- 40:10Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet with our moneymakers. We've got plenty to
- 40:14Speaker 1: discuss and some advice where we hope that you will–
- 40:19Speaker 1: Roll with us. That's straight ahead here on Hutton and Withrow.
- 40:22Speaker 1: It is Hutton and Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bet. Chad,
- 40:29Speaker 1: we made what this weekend with Hard Rock? Let's roll
- 40:33Speaker 1: back the tape and see what we did for week
- 40:35Speaker 1: one based on the parlay that you were playing.
- 40:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Hutton, the parlay was unsuccessful this past week to
- 40:43Speaker 3: start the season. Look, it's week zero for everybody. I
- 40:45Speaker 3: don't have a lot of information to go on. with
- 40:47Speaker 3: these teams in a new year. We don't know what
- 40:49Speaker 3: we got. I thought UNC was falling apart with Bill Belichick.
- 40:53Speaker 3: You've got the son who's got a medical leave. You've
- 40:55Speaker 3: got Michael Abardi who's on administrative leave. I'm thinking the
- 41:00Speaker 3: house is on fire. Surely Sonny Dykes and TCU can
- 41:03Speaker 3: go to Dublin and beat the hell out of UNC.
- 41:07Speaker 3: That did not happen. UNC wins outright. I had the
- 41:10Speaker 3: Horned Frogs minus 9.5. That didn't pay off. I had
- 41:13Speaker 3: UNLV minus 3.5. We've been talking about Coach Huff and Memphis.
- 41:17Speaker 3: They made me pay for that one. Hutton, I did
- 41:19Speaker 3: hit Virginia minus three and a half as they destroyed.
- 41:21Speaker 3: It was never a game. Destroyed NC State, really, from
- 41:25Speaker 3: the start of that game on. Also, I'm watching that
- 41:29Speaker 3: game and I'm thinking, I can't imagine two worse offensive
- 41:32Speaker 3: systems than NC State and Virginia at times. Even when
- 41:35Speaker 3: Virginia's having success, it's like, let's do a fake jet
- 41:39Speaker 3: sweep and throw a quick pass across the middle to
- 41:43Speaker 3: or 160-pound slot and see them get destroyed over and
- 41:48Speaker 3: over again. I don't know what either team was doing
- 41:51Speaker 3: offensively with their play designs part of the time, but
- 41:54Speaker 3: it definitely worked out better for Virginia than it did
- 41:56Speaker 3: NC State. Parlay did not work out. We made, or
- 41:59Speaker 3: at least I made, nothing this past week with my
- 42:02Speaker 3: college football parlay.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Throughout the week, we will have great plays for you
- 42:07Speaker 1: each day. and look ahead to many things with Hard
- 42:09Speaker 1: Rock Bet. Football's back. Best time of the year for bettors.
- 42:12Speaker 1: You can bet $ 5, get $ 150 in bonus bets right
- 42:16Speaker 1: now just by using hardrock.bet.com currently. Chad, the upcoming slate
- 42:24Speaker 1: of SEC matchups looks like what if we were to
- 42:27Speaker 1: log on currently?
- 42:29Speaker 3: It looks like a lot of points, Hutton. You've got Missouri...
- 42:34Speaker 3: A 54.5 point favorite against Arkansas Pine Bluff. Think about
- 42:38Speaker 3: the Big Ten bitching about that cupcake weekend in November
- 42:42Speaker 3: and how they hated that because it was a chance
- 42:44Speaker 3: for SEC teams to get a break late in the
- 42:46Speaker 3: season before they played their rivalry game last week of
- 42:49Speaker 3: the season. That cupcake game has now become week one
- 42:53Speaker 3: of the season. Before Hutton, we had seen a lot
- 42:56Speaker 3: of movement towards great games in Week 1. Remember, I
- 42:59Speaker 3: think it really culminated last year or the year before
- 43:01Speaker 3: where we were praising how many big games there were
- 43:04Speaker 3: in Week 1 of college football. There are big games
- 43:06Speaker 3: this weekend in college football. There are three good games
- 43:09Speaker 3: exactly featuring SEC teams. Ole Miss, less than a touchdown
- 43:14Speaker 3: favorite against Louisville, is one of those games. We all
- 43:17Speaker 3: know about LSU and Clemson. LSU is still a sizable
- 43:20Speaker 3: favorite in that game, minus 10.5 against the Clemson Tigers.
- 43:24Speaker 3: in that game. And finally, the only other close game
- 43:28Speaker 3: at all this weekend, Auburn-Baylor. Auburn a 7.5 point favorite.
- 43:32Speaker 3: But outside of that, look at some of these numbers.
- 43:35Speaker 3: 54.5 I mentioned. 48.5 Tennessee over Florida. Georgia 45.5 against TSU.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Texas A & M 41.5 against Missouri State. Hun, we're
- 43:47Speaker 3: going to reveal our picks for college football later in
- 43:49Speaker 3: the week. I got a real hard time taking 48.5 points.
- 43:53Speaker 3: against anyone when you know there's going to be a
- 43:55Speaker 3: lot of backups in the game in these, right? There's
- 43:58Speaker 3: going to be some second-half sloppiness at some point with
- 44:01Speaker 3: backup quarterbacks in and everything else. That's a lot of
- 44:04Speaker 3: points in some of these games. Vandy, a 30-and-a-half-point favorite
- 44:07Speaker 3: over Austin Peay. There are some crazy big lines in
- 44:10Speaker 3: the SEC. This is their new cupcake weekend.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Yes. Chad, I've got what I thought were some cupcake
- 44:16Speaker 1: picks that were going to be easy for my over-under
- 44:20Speaker 1: for total wins right now in the NFL. Go play
- 44:22Speaker 1: these right now. 9.5 for the New England Patriots. I'm
- 44:26Speaker 1: taking under on the Patriots. It's well known that the
- 44:31Speaker 1: runner-up to the Lombardi Trophy typically does not make the
- 44:34Speaker 1: playoff the final year. I'm going to say that they're
- 44:36Speaker 1: right under 9.5, 8-9 wins on the season. They won
- 44:41Speaker 1: practically all their road games and are very fortunate with
- 44:45Speaker 1: some plays. New England and New Orleans. New Orleans Saints, 7.5.
- 44:47Speaker 1: I'm taking the under on the Saints' total win total.
- 44:55Speaker 1: That's because I don't think they've done anything to really
- 44:57Speaker 1: bolster their defense. And who knows about their quarterback going
- 45:02Speaker 1: into year two, even though they gave it a jolt
- 45:05Speaker 1: last season. And take the under. Five and a half
- 45:08Speaker 1: right now is the total for the Cleveland Browns. Take
- 45:11Speaker 1: the under. Under with Deshaun Watson. Under, under, under.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Patriots, Saints, and Browns. You go under, under, under. I
- 45:19Speaker 3: go over, over, over. I'm sticking in the SEC. Give
- 45:22Speaker 3: me Texas A & M over eight and a half.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Give me Mississippi State. I think they're going to get
- 45:26Speaker 3: to a bowl game this year. I think they're definitely
- 45:28Speaker 3: going over four and a half with Kamario Taylor, quarterback.
- 45:31Speaker 3: He is a sleeper pick for me that a guy
- 45:34Speaker 3: is going to look really great. And then a perfect
- 45:37Speaker 3: segue into our next show, next round live, because they're
- 45:39Speaker 3: going to love this pick. I've got Alabama over eight
- 45:42Speaker 3: and a half and maybe getting into the tail end
- 45:44Speaker 3: of that playoff. I know our next round live, brethren,
- 45:47Speaker 3: they're going to love that one.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Crank up Dixieland Delight. Next round live is next right
- 45:51Speaker 1: here on Sporting State. We'll see you tomorrow. See ya.
