- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermind, set coach, creative strategist, and also
- 0:09happen to be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. At least from the farm, not from
- 0:31the chicken coop, the garage, because it is so cold, so frozen
- 0:36dark, and the girls aren't even coming out.
- 0:40They are terrified of the snow. Apparently they are just staying
- 0:43inside. They don't want to step in it.
- 0:45They keep looking at it and they're just hanging out in
- 0:48their coop and under their coop. Won't come in the run, won't go
- 0:52in the yard. So today is the day it's
- 0:54supposed to warm up. So we're hopeful, very hopeful
- 0:57that that will straighten out a big part of how they feel and
- 1:01we'll be able to get back to some business as usual.
- 1:03But OK, so let's talk about I finally made it home.
- 1:08Long drive and lots of crazy roads to drive on.
- 1:13You know, the South is not prepared for this weather at
- 1:16all. And I have to say, this was a
- 1:19true testament to me being focused on the fact that I had
- 1:25to manage my state because there were many things I encountered
- 1:29on this journey that constantly had the ability to throw me in a
- 1:32tailspin. And driving back in all those
- 1:37hours very slowly, you know, ended up being quite a long
- 1:41journey and many hours of just staying focused on managing my
- 1:46state. So when I say managing my state,
- 1:50what I'm really saying is I have to manage anyone who's driving
- 1:53the bus in my head, constantly switching back to a more
- 1:57resourceful driver over and over and over and over and over and
- 2:00over. And it, it's exhausting when
- 2:04you're in those intense situations to keep doing it.
- 2:06And even for me, the person who is like teaching this, doing
- 2:11this, it is exhausting my friends.
- 2:14So the one thing that I really took away from this, what's the
- 2:18lesson, 'cause I always want to sit down and say to myself, OK,
- 2:20well, what did I learn? What were the things that I can
- 2:24really take away as a solid learning in this that will make
- 2:28me feel more empowered, make me feel good about it?
- 2:31And the biggest thing I can tell you, the biggest thing that I
- 2:34can tell you for sure that really helped me out was I have
- 2:38the ability to get into very tough situations and get wound
- 2:43up still. That is a big thing that I
- 2:46recognized because panic happens and when it happens, it comes at
- 2:51you all at once. So the thought of not getting
- 2:54home, the thought of then having to find a place to stay, the
- 2:58thought of then having to drive all those hours it by yourself
- 3:02in bad weather is just, it was overwhelming to me because it's
- 3:06not. Those are not favorite things of
- 3:08mine, of course, and some people can handle those pressures.
- 3:12It's just not one of the things that I I can handle it, yes, but
- 3:16it's not one of the things I like to do.
- 3:18And when they present themselves to me, I will do it.
- 3:21It's just that I feel uneasy about it.
- 3:24So it was a big distinction for me.
- 3:25Another big distinction. The lesson to walk away was I, I
- 3:29have a really strong skill set in being able to switch out of
- 3:32it and it still keeps knocking repeatedly.
- 3:35So I have to really remain in it and set myself up to win.
- 3:39So, you know, stupid little things like making sure that I
- 3:43had snacks so that I did not have to stop because I did not
- 3:47want to stop. I didn't want to stop and get
- 3:49gas. I didn't want to stop and do
- 3:50anything. I just wanted to come right
- 3:52straight through. And that's what I ended up doing
- 3:54driving right straight through because it was, I didn't want to
- 3:58have to get off an exit and get into even worse driving
- 4:02conditions. It was just one of those things
- 4:04where being prepared for those things really made a difference.
- 4:08So my certainty girl was very happy that the preparation
- 4:11worked out really well. And you know, we were able to
- 4:14make it and make it safely and get through and felt very
- 4:18blessed with all of that. Now in the final analysis of all
- 4:21of this, somebody asked me yesterday, so are you sorry you
- 4:25went? And hell no, I'm not sorry I
- 4:28went at all. I had such an amazing time
- 4:30meeting so many great people going out shaking hands, giving
- 4:35hugs and feeling like, you know, you're there to change lives.
- 4:39You're there to teach people things that you know and you use
- 4:42all the time, just like what I did over the last couple days
- 4:46and be able to help them change their life.
- 4:48Because there is a time when I would not have done what I did.
- 4:52There is a time many, many years ago where if this had happened,
- 4:55I would have frozen in panic and I would have said somebody come
- 4:59get me. I would have whoever I was with
- 5:01at that time, I would have been like, OK, I need to just hire
- 5:04car service to drive me. And I would rather trust a
- 5:06complete stranger than myself, which is really strange because
- 5:10I want to be able to rely on myself.
- 5:12It's not that I can't take help, but geez, you know, I want to be
- 5:16able to rely on myself. And I'm I'm so happy I went.
- 5:22Was it the ideal conditions? No.
- 5:24But am I still thrilled that I went?
- 5:26Yes. Will I go again?
- 5:28Absolutely. So the point of this today is
- 5:32figuring out what your lessons are, really honing in on them
- 5:35and then feeling good about them, all of them, the good, the
- 5:38bad, the ugly, because they really help you.
- 5:41So it gives me that ability to go back and say, OK, look, you
- 5:44have evidence now that you can, in a tough, panicky situation,
- 5:48still get panicked. And that's good because it it
- 5:52makes you pay attention and guess what?
- 5:54You still got through it, so I hope you guys have a blessed
- 5:57day. It's going to warm up here
- 5:59today, so I'm hoping the snow is gone because there's a lot of it
- 6:03here. And I'm hoping that you know, it
- 6:06is going to see the girls come outside today and we're going to
- 6:09get back to some normalcy. So I hope you all have a blessed
- 6:12day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 6:14Bye.
