- Lucas: Hola Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo? Luna: Hola Lucas! Yes, I am so ready. I've been wanting to get a haircut, but I'm nervous about doing it in Spanish. Lucas: Well, you're in luck. Today, we are going to learn phrases for getting a haircut. But first — if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with your Spanish, we want to mention that we keep this show ad-free on purpose. If you'd like to support that, the link is buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it's a simple way to help us keep teaching without interruptions. So, let's dive in. What's the first thing I'd say at a barber shop? Lucas: You'd say 'Quiero un corte de pelo.' That means 'I want a haircut.' Let me say it slowly: Quiero un corte de pelo. Luna: Quiero un corte de pelo. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you want to be specific, like short on the sides, you say 'Corto en los lados.' Listen: Corto en los lados. Luna: Corto en los lados. So corto is short? Lucas: Exactly. And for long on top, you'd say 'Largo arriba.' Largo arriba. Luna: Largo arriba. Largo means long. Lucas: You got it. Now, if you want a little more off the top, you can say 'Un poco más arriba.' That's 'a little more off the top.' Un poco más arriba. Luna: Un poco más arriba. That's useful. And then, I guess I'd ask how much it costs? Lucas: Yes, you say '¿Cuánto cuesta?' How much is it? Let's put it all together. Imagine you walk in and say: 'Hola, quiero un corte de pelo. Corto en los lados, largo arriba. Un poco más arriba. ¿Cuánto cuesta?' That's your whole conversation. Luna: Okay, let me try. Hola, quiero un corte de pelo. Corto en los lados, largo arriba. Un poco más arriba. ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: That was excellent, Luna! You just ordered a haircut in Spanish. Luna: Oh, that feels so good. I could actually do that. Lucas: Absolutely. Let's practice once more. Repeat after me: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: And if the barber says 'Son diez euros,' you know it's ten euros. So you've got this. Luna: I love it. Now I'm excited to try it out. Lucas: That's the spirit. Keep practicing these phrases, and next time you need a haircut in a Spanish-speaking place, you'll be ready. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. See you next time! Lucas: See you then. Practice these till we chat again.
