  [SPEAKER_00]: We're taking a look at reasons to believe in your Jacksonville Jack Wars, you're one and oh, Jacksonville Jack Wars, you're division leading Jacksonville Jack Wars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Technically, if the season ended today, I think the cult would be in first place in the whole F.C.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But tied for the division lead after one week, obviously divisional standing, standings in general, don't matter a whole lot after one week, but it is great to have a W on the board.

  [SPEAKER_00]: four-year jacks in bill jack wars or a sounding victory for them over the Carolina Panthers in week one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to get into reasons to believe in the jack wars and this is going to be the optimistic look at the jack wars right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then we'll also have a pessimistic look at the jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So number one reason coming out of week one that I'm believing in these jaguars more and more and there's several reasons toughness.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Carolina Panthers are not one of the

  [SPEAKER_00]: most talented teams in the NFL.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And that's probably putting in nicely.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They have some talent at spots.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that they still need to get more talent in other spots.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But one thing I don't really question about the Panthers based on their roster and how they played last year is their toughness.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Panthers are a tough team.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They have a really good run blocking.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Offensive line.
• 2:27
  [SPEAKER_00]: And yes, no, I'm a quano and he does bring toughness, but even without him, that's still four guys out there that are tough physical players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And they have tough runners, Chuba, Grigodado, the Jaguars trench play against kind of that meme-gritty tough running the football approach was up to the test in a big way.

  [SPEAKER_00]: uh... they did not miss a lot of tackles they were physical up front they won the battles in the trenches more often the knot and that that to me says something against a panther's team that that is the test can you win in the trenches because if you can you're gonna beat them if you can it might be a tougher game it was not a tough game for the jackwars because they won in the trenches and they brought the toughness at all three levels on defense

  [SPEAKER_00]: Offensively they were also very tough and look the Panthers were not a good run defense last year I don't know that there gonna be a good run defense this year, but they do have some big boys up front That are tough players Derek Brown was back and he did make some plays Not enough for the Panthers to be competitive in this game, but Derek Brown

  [SPEAKER_00]: Bobby Brown, tough, strong football player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You talk about Nick Scorton coming in.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's a big guy as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're like the toughest team at the second, third level, no offense to those guys, but at the point of attack, against these big defensive linemen, the Jaguars were more than holding their own.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they were getting the job done at an extremely high level routinely, so if there's something that you could probably have pointed to over the last couple of years not just something, one big thing was a lack of toughness in the trenches, a lack of, you know, finish and strain and strength upfront and throughout the roster.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that that's a question right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, Panthers are not one of the better teams you're going to face on your schedule.

  [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, they're going to be one of the worst.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And all likelihood.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But they were a team that brought toughness to the table last year, and the Jaguars were the much tougher team on Sunday.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's really a big deal.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Next up, coaching and all three phases, we know he far wells a great, special teams coach.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You knew if you'd been paying attention that Liam Cohen is a really good offensive coach, play caller.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Anthony Campanila, you hadn't seen him as a defensive coordinator or play caller yet on that side of the ball really, outside of very vanilla preseason stuff, or going back to Boston College as a co-defensive coordinator way back when it's been a minute since

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's got those guys.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So for me, the basic elements of this coaching staff is like the teaching part of it, getting guys to understand the concepts in the classroom, having expectations and accountability for those expectations, while being able to nurture their relationships you have, and then the play calling part of it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think I had no question about the teaching, the accountability, that type of stuff from Campanila, I really believed in that stuff strongly, based on his history.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But play calling was a question mark and I think camp and he lay who he had some looks man and you kind of got pictures of that throughout training camp here and there in the pre-season but he was really confusing Bryson and this panther's passing attack a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The picture was changing post-snap.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You had sim pressures, you had blitzes, you had, you know, like, where you got a safety rushing, but then you've got the guys you expect to be rushing, dropping back into coverage, and changing the picture post-snap and being confusing is awesome on paper and in theory.

  [SPEAKER_00]: but when you can actually execute it, teach the players have them understand and then execute it, that is really cool.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, Carolina Panthers, again, you're not doing that against the best teams in the world.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Yet, yet, you haven't seen that yet, but,

  [SPEAKER_00]: The defense of play calling was awesome.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The offensive play calling, as expected, was awesome.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But the teaching, the accountability, the expectation was all there this off season, and they went out and got the job done in a big way in week one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so I do believe in the coaching in all three phases.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think those are the two things that will carry this team in a big way outside of the talent.

  [SPEAKER_00]: which matters a lot, and I think the Jaguars talent has been vastly underrated.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Does that mean I think they're going to go in the Super Bowl and we don't need to put the car before the horse, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: But this is a talented football team.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They have four, five talented past catchers, at least one with a all-pro-sealing, another with a who knows what the ceiling is for Travis Hunter.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Britain's strange as a weapon, as Robert Hainesy put it, he is a weapon, but as a receiver and somebody who can just take people out in space, they're talented.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The offensive line, I think, is talented enough to be good.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Defensive line is talented enough to be very, very good.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Safety's, I think their townset enough to be good.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're smart, good communicators.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Great special teams talent.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's a talented football team.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And that talent and coaching and toughness is going to be tested over the next several weeks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, definitely when you look at week two, in Cincinnati, week three against the Texans at home, week four in San Francisco, week five against the chiefs.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And are all those teams as daunting as maybe they were when the first schedule came out?

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's too early to say, but they do have injuries they're dealing with in different situations.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Each of them that they're dealing with, no doubt about it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: George Kittle is not going to be available for the San Francisco 49ers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They've got a myriad injuries they're dealing with.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Joe Nixon is not going to be available for the Texans.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Xavier worthy who knows for the cheese for she rice, not going to be there, you know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Bengals, their defense came out and did well against the Browns, but just the Browns.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Offense didn't look great against the Browns, but the Browns do have a really impressive defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that is going to be a really fascinating week to match up that we're going to talk about a lot coming up, but I really do believe in the toughness, the coaching, I think the talent is good enough, I really do.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then there's a couple of things where it's like, we didn't even see the number one threat on offense get going at all.

  [SPEAKER_00]: on the reverse, then, around, but they still move to the ball with ease without even being able to get Brian Thomas Jr.

  [SPEAKER_00]: going, I think that's a good sign, I mean, because when you can get him going, then what, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: They shot themselves in the foot repeatedly and overcame it, the ability to overcome issues is something the jag wars have really struggled with in the past.

  [SPEAKER_00]: to overcome, you know, bad down in distance, all that stuff, they've had big issues with that in the past.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so I think that there's a lot of things you can say looked really good.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think the things that didn't look good are within your own control.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you can get those things right.

  [SPEAKER_00]: couple misses by Trevor, Brian Thomas, Jr.

  [SPEAKER_00]: having a drop, you know, these things fixable, absolutely.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's the optimistic, you know, teal-colored glasses view on the Jaguar, I really do think the coaching, the toughness and the talent are there, though.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Well, Trevor Lawrence of Ryan Thomas Jr.

  [SPEAKER_00]: can get going more that's optimistic, you know, ability to reduce the penalties.
