- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be here again with you all. Lucas: Today we are looking at two very basic verbs. You have seen them before, but we want to lock them in. Luna: Right. We talked about sitting and standing last time. Now we need to know what we do while sitting. Lucas: Exactly. We eat and we drink. Let us start with the first one. Luna: Is it 'spise'? I think I heard that word somewhere. Lucas: Yes. The infinitive form is 'å spise'. That means 'to eat'. Luna: Å spise. Okay. To eat. Lucas: Good. Now let us make it a sentence. If I am eating, I say 'jeg spiser'. Luna: Jeg spiser. That sounds nice. Lucas: It does. Now if I am talking to you, and asking what you are doing, I say 'du spiser'. Luna: Du spiser. So 'you eat' or 'you are eating'. Lucas: Correct. And if we are both eating together, we say 'vi spiser'. Luna: Vi spiser. Got it. Jeg spiser, du spiser, vi spiser. Lucas: Let us try saying them slowly together. Å spise. Luna: Å spise. Lucas: Jeg spiser. Luna: Jeg spiser. Lucas: Du spiser. Luna: Du spiser. Lucas: Vi spiser. Luna: Vi spiser. Lucas: That was smooth. Now for the second verb. It is very similar. Luna: Is it 'drikke'? Like drinking coffee? Lucas: Yes. The infinitive is 'å drikke'. That means 'to drink'. Luna: Å drikke. Okay. To drink. Lucas: Now for the conjugations. If I am drinking, I say 'jeg drikker'. Luna: Jeg drikker. With double r. Lucas: Yes. Double r because the root ends in k. Jeg drikker. Luna: Got it. And for you? Du drikker? Lucas: Du drikker. Yes. Luna: And for us? Vi drikker? Lucas: Vi drikker. Perfect. Luna: Let me try them all out. Å drikke. Jeg drikker. Du drikker. Vi drikker. Lucas: You nailed it. Those are the four main pieces we need right now. Luna: It feels like such a small amount, but it covers so much of my day. Lucas: It really does. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks. You are always doing one of these two things. Luna: True. I usually drink coffee while I eat breakfast. Lucas: So you could say 'jeg drikker kaffe mens jeg spiser frokost'. Luna: Oh wow. That is a whole sentence already. Lucas: It is. But remember, you only needed those verbs to build it. Luna: I love that. It makes the language feel less scary. Lucas: That is the goal. Just take it one verb at a time. Luna: Speaking of taking things, do you want to pause for a moment? Lucas: Sure. If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with this language, you might appreciate supporting the show directly. Luna: It keeps the episodes coming and stays ad-free for everyone. Lucas: You can find us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Any amount helps keep our voices on the mic. Thanks for listening. Lucas: Back to the verbs. Let us mix them up a bit. Luna: Okay. Tell me something you are doing right now. Lucas: Well, I am recording this podcast. But also, jeg spiser et eple. Luna: You are eating an apple? Lucas: Yes. Og jeg drikker vann. And I am drinking water. Luna: Healthy choices. I am hungry just hearing this. Lucas: Then go eat something. Or come back and practice more. Luna: I think I will practice more first. Jeg vil spise senere. Lucas: Smart. Later is fine. Let us repeat the core set one more time. Luna: Ready. Å spise. Lucas: Jeg spiser. Luna: Du spiser. Lucas: Vi spiser. Luna: Å drikke. Lucas: Jeg drikker. Luna: Du drikker. Lucas: Vi drikker. Luna: Those felt really solid this time. Lucas: They did. Repetition is your friend here. Luna: I am going to try using 'jeg spiser' in a real conversation today. Lucas: That is a great plan. See how people react. Luna: And 'jeg drikker' when I get my morning tea. Lucas: Perfect. Keep building those small habits. Luna: Thanks for teaching us, Lucas. Lucas: Thanks for learning with us, Luna. See you next time.
