- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to ACC football addiction. I've got Brian from
- 0:03Speaker 1: Clemson football live on with us. We appreciate our friends
- 0:06Speaker 1: over at prize picks. We're all new users who play
- 0:08Speaker 1: a $ 5 lineup and win get 150 in lineups instantly.
- 0:11Speaker 1: If they use code H M a. A lot of
- 0:14Speaker 1: doom and gloom after week one and Clemson has found
- 0:19Speaker 1: a way to just win. Everything since then hasn't always
- 0:22Speaker 1: been pretty, hasn't always been the best, but they are
- 0:24Speaker 1: undefeated since that first game against LSU and they welcome
- 0:28Speaker 1: in Miami this week. What were your thoughts on the,
- 0:32Speaker 1: on the cow game? I watched that from, uh, from Nashville, Tennessee, uh,
- 0:36Speaker 1: on the road, late kickoff for Clemson. They went out
- 0:40Speaker 1: to the, uh, the West coast and, uh, It was
- 0:43Speaker 1: a good game for a little while, but then Clemson
- 0:45Speaker 1: kind of rolled to victory where it wasn't super, super
- 0:47Speaker 1: stressful at the end. I was impressed with the way
- 0:49Speaker 1: they looked, man, on the road to Cal. I'm high
- 0:52Speaker 1: on JKS. I think it was a point and a half.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Clemson was a favorite just by that much. And they
- 0:58Speaker 1: went out and they were markedly the better team on
- 1:02Speaker 1: Friday night.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I picked Cal to win that ball
- 1:05Speaker 2: game because I hadn't seen consistency out of Clemson. But
- 1:10Speaker 2: leading up to that game, I said this. If Clemson
- 1:13Speaker 2: will be aggressive on the offensive side of the football
- 1:16Speaker 2: from the beginning of the game all the way through
- 1:19Speaker 2: the end, they will make me eat my words. And
- 1:22Speaker 2: that's exactly what they did. They were aggressive from the
- 1:25Speaker 2: beginning to the end, and they won by 14 points. Now,
- 1:30Speaker 2: there's this new optimistic approach that we're seeing in Clemson
- 1:35Speaker 2: right now, and let me tell you why. It's because
- 1:38Speaker 2: in the last six quarters of football, we've seen more
- 1:41Speaker 2: consistent aggressiveness than we've seen in years. So with that said,
- 1:47Speaker 2: that's why you're seeing more and more Clemson fans kind
- 1:51Speaker 2: of put that LSU game way off in the past
- 1:55Speaker 2: and say, hey, I think we're really turning a corner here. Now,
- 1:57Speaker 2: you know my approach to Clemson football. It's a little
- 2:01Speaker 2: more pessimistic. I will have to agree that I have
- 2:05Speaker 2: not seen this offense– be this consistently aggressive. I know
- 2:09Speaker 2: I've said that a lot, but really, that's it. I
- 2:13Speaker 2: haven't seen them perform consistently like this with just this
- 2:17Speaker 2: go at you, keep the opposing defense honest, stretch the field,
- 2:22Speaker 2: and then hit the short to intermediate pass, work in
- 2:24Speaker 2: the run consistently in a while. So I see the improvements.
- 2:31Speaker 2: And then, of course, Miami comes to town this weekend.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I know we're going to talk about that in just
- 2:35Speaker 2: a second. But as far as the California game goes,
- 2:40Speaker 2: I was really impressed by what I saw out of
- 2:42Speaker 2: a team who just three weeks ago, four weeks ago,
- 2:45Speaker 2: lost by 41 points.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah, at the end of the day, you go on
- 2:49Speaker 1: the road, you hold a team to 10 points. I
- 2:51Speaker 1: thought they were good defensively. I thought they got after JKS.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I thought they did a good job. He was uncomfortable
- 2:57Speaker 1: all night. And the offense did enough, right?
- 3:00Speaker 2: You.
- 3:01Speaker 1: got 24 points out of the game. When your defense
- 3:05Speaker 1: plays that well, I think that's fine. Clemson was not
- 3:10Speaker 1: perfect by any means, multiple mistakes, multiple turnovers in this game.
- 3:15Speaker 1: At the end of the day, they were by far
- 3:19Speaker 1: the better team for most of the night. Yeah, two turnovers,
- 3:23Speaker 1: a missed field goal. Shoot, this really could have been
- 3:25Speaker 1: a 35-point game. This could have been an absolute blowout
- 3:31Speaker 1: But instead it was a comfortable win, which I think
- 3:33Speaker 1: when you go to the West coast and you're playing
- 3:34Speaker 1: a freshman quarterback, like you'll take comfortable wins all day.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Like let's not get in a point. Let's not get
- 3:40Speaker 1: to a point where we're like, we didn't win by 25.
- 3:42Speaker 1: We're out of here, man. Like say the ones where
- 3:45Speaker 1: we can get them three and one overall two and
- 3:48Speaker 1: O in the ACC. And you mentioned it, Miami coming
- 3:50Speaker 1: to town this week. This is my, this is Clemson's
- 3:53Speaker 1: ultimate test this year. I think it's, it's the most
- 3:55Speaker 1: challenging test ever. I think Miami is every bit as
- 3:59Speaker 1: good as their ranking is in a college football that
- 4:01Speaker 1: is more wide open than ever. I think they're worth
- 4:05Speaker 1: a top five ranking, and it will be an incredibly
- 4:07Speaker 1: tough test for Clemson this weekend. Weather could play an impact,
- 4:12Speaker 1: could certainly be going Clemson's way in this. If you're thinking, man,
- 4:16Speaker 1: do we want to get in a shootout with Miami?
- 4:18Speaker 1: Probably not. You're trying to look for the paths to
- 4:23Speaker 1: This being a fourth quarter game and the weather would
- 4:27Speaker 1: certainly be an impact. Home crowd at night at Death
- 4:30Speaker 1: Valley is certainly something that you would prefer over a
- 4:34Speaker 1: 12 local time kick. So there are some things playing
- 4:38Speaker 1: in Clemson's favor. Miami's a little bit banged up. I
- 4:40Speaker 1: think they're in a better spot today than they were
- 4:42Speaker 1: two weeks ago coming out of that weight game. But
- 4:45Speaker 1: I think there are some things playing in Miami's favor.
- 4:47Speaker 1: At the end of the day, though, it all comes
- 4:49Speaker 1: down to execution. And this is a really tough team
- 4:51Speaker 1: to say, you've got to go execute at a freaking
- 4:54Speaker 1: near-perfect level to probably knock them off. But thoughts on
- 4:58Speaker 1: the Miami game, just big picture before we dive in.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Big picture.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Darian Mensah, this is a guy who was playing for
- 5:06Speaker 2: Tulane two years ago, made his mark. Last year he
- 5:10Speaker 2: played for Duke. He and Cooper Barcake came to Clemson
- 5:13Speaker 2: last year and won 46-45 with Duke. I think it
- 5:17Speaker 2: was like a 3 o'clock kickoff or 12 o'clock, something
- 5:20Speaker 2: like that. And now they're on a team that has
- 5:23Speaker 2: a lot of bells and whistles. They are one of
- 5:25Speaker 2: the top NIL spenders. And Mensah is one of the
- 5:29Speaker 2: top quarterbacks in the country. And when it comes to
- 5:34Speaker 2: passing yards, I looked at his numbers earlier this morning
- 5:37Speaker 2: before I did my prediction. A shameless plug here. I
- 5:40Speaker 2: put up a prediction on my channel today for this game.
- 5:45Speaker 2: But Darian Mensah, he has, I mean, 1,200 yards plus,
- 5:51Speaker 2: not one interception. So like the Jaden Mayavas out of
- 5:54Speaker 2: Southern Cal and Kevin Jennings out of SMU, they have
- 5:57Speaker 2: more yardage than him. But they have interceptions, some of
- 6:00Speaker 2: them two, three, four, five interceptions at this point in
- 6:03Speaker 2: the season. This guy's really good at taking care of
- 6:05Speaker 2: the football. Of course, Malachi Toney, one of the leading
- 6:08Speaker 2: receivers in all of college football, a very dangerous player.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I'm just thanking God he doesn't play on the defense,
- 6:14Speaker 2: kind of like Travis Hunter did, because you know he'd
- 6:16Speaker 2: be incredible. So their offensive coordinator, Shannon Dawson, I have
- 6:21Speaker 2: a lot of respect for him. You know, there is
- 6:23Speaker 2: a part of me that kind of looks at him
- 6:25Speaker 2: and goes, I mean, good grief, he has all these toys.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It's hard to call a bad play with these guys
- 6:30Speaker 2: because you can call an ordinary play with them, and
- 6:33Speaker 2: they'll make it look extraordinary. It's on a highlight reel somewhere.
- 6:36Speaker 2: So this is the toughest game of the season, probably,
- 6:42Speaker 2: and it is our last tough game of the season
- 6:45Speaker 2: because after this, there's like a cliff, a nosedive. I mean,
- 6:49Speaker 2: following up with, I believe, a bye week, Charleston Southern,
- 6:53Speaker 2: Virginia Tech is kind of weird, and then after that,
- 6:55Speaker 2: it's very winnable games because... No offense, Clemson fans. No,
- 6:59Speaker 2: you're going to get mad at me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
- 7:02Speaker 2: A lot of the teams are really bad. We're going
- 7:04Speaker 2: to play after this. So this is a massive game.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Clemson fans, Miami fans, make sure you do me a
- 7:10Speaker 1: favor and hit the subscribe button, not only on this channel,
- 7:14Speaker 1: but on the audio only podcasts. I've been dropping a
- 7:16Speaker 1: few audio only things over there that are not just
- 7:19Speaker 1: the videos ripped out for the audio. Make sure that
- 7:23Speaker 1: on Apple, Spotify, wherever you subscribe, you're subscribed to ACC
- 7:27Speaker 1: Football Addiction. I'll link them in the description. All right,
- 7:29Speaker 1: now back to Brian. Yeah, this separates, and we talked
- 7:33Speaker 1: about this, or I talked about it. I don't know
- 7:35Speaker 1: if we talked about it specifically, but we talked about this.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Clemson got absolutely embarrassed against Georgia in 2024 to open
- 7:42Speaker 1: the season, and then they just went out, and they
- 7:44Speaker 1: weren't perfect down the stretch, but they went out, and
- 7:46Speaker 1: they fought, and they competed, and they had a nice
- 7:48Speaker 1: finish to the season. They win the ACC. They go
- 7:50Speaker 1: to the playoff. And I'm not by any means telling
- 7:52Speaker 1: you that I think Clemson is playoff caliber this year.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I also think we talked off season that Clemson had
- 7:59Speaker 1: an opportunity because of this schedule to win a lot
- 8:03Speaker 1: of games. And at the end of the day, all the,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you know, bad feelings that happened after LSU, which to
- 8:10Speaker 1: me was more of a snowball and maybe the wrong
- 8:12Speaker 1: quarterback started that game. I don't know, man. Like you're
- 8:15Speaker 1: allowed a bad performance and bad performances can happen. You
- 8:18Speaker 1: can still have what many would consider a successful year,
- 8:22Speaker 1: even if they lose this game to Miami. And I
- 8:23Speaker 1: don't even really care what the score is. Obviously Clemson
- 8:26Speaker 1: fans would, would want it to be closer. Clemson fans
- 8:28Speaker 1: want to win. I think you're going to be Charleston Southern.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I really think you'd be Virginia tech at home. I
- 8:34Speaker 1: think you'd be Florida state. You're going to be Syracuse.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Georgia tech is not good. Duke is undefeated right now.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And they did win last year, but I don't think
- 8:41Speaker 1: you lose that game. And then I think you're playing
- 8:43Speaker 1: better than South Carolina is like, I think there's a very,
- 8:46Speaker 1: very real path of Clemson going 10 and two this year.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I think nine and three is very realistic. Like if
- 8:52Speaker 1: you slip up against one of those teams, maybe Virginia
- 8:54Speaker 1: tech or FSU or South Carolina, catch you asleep. And
- 8:56Speaker 1: maybe Duke's a little better than we think they are.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 1: You could finish, you could finish nine and three. That's
- 9:02Speaker 1: not going to feel great. If you lose to the
- 9:04Speaker 1: only teams that are really competent on your schedule, but
- 9:07Speaker 1: still it's maybe not the disaster scenario that was everyone's
- 9:13Speaker 1: mood after, well, really LSU and Georgia Southern, both of
- 9:17Speaker 1: those games early in the season. And so, yeah, there,
- 9:21Speaker 1: but the, the Miami game to me is the litmus
- 9:23Speaker 1: test of, okay, we think, we think they'll win somewhere
- 9:26Speaker 1: between eight and 10 games. Eight would even be probably
- 9:29Speaker 1: underachieving at this point, but they'll win between eight and
- 9:31Speaker 1: 10 games, maybe more. We'll see. But if you can
- 9:34Speaker 1: be competitive here, if you could somehow sneak away with
- 9:37Speaker 1: a win.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Then you're talking about this as a play. I give
- 9:40Speaker 1: Clemson wins this game, which I'm not predicting they do.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I think Miami wins, but if Clemson was to win
- 9:45Speaker 1: this game, you would all of a sudden look at
- 9:46Speaker 1: them and say, why can't they go to the playoff?
- 9:49Speaker 1: they're going to be in Charlotte. They're probably going to
- 9:51Speaker 1: go 11 and one to have only a loss against
- 9:55Speaker 1: the playoff team in LSU. So, yeah, it is a
- 9:58Speaker 1: big kind of litmus test of like, okay, have we
- 10:00Speaker 1: figured out enough? Now, all that said, not to be
- 10:02Speaker 1: all doom and gloom, I don't think they have. I
- 10:05Speaker 1: think that Miami is a lot better. But how you
- 10:08Speaker 1: look matters. And I don't want to try and sell
- 10:09Speaker 1: people on moral victories, but there's a big difference in
- 10:12Speaker 1: losing this game by 10 to Miami than there is
- 10:14Speaker 1: losing this game by 30 to Miami. And I think
- 10:17Speaker 1: that is important. Not that Clemson fans should settle for losses,
- 10:21Speaker 1: but looking competent against a really good team is important.
- 10:26Speaker 2: I agree with you 100%. A loss is a loss,
- 10:29Speaker 2: but y'all, a loss by 41 versus 10?
- 10:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I mean, y'all, how many brain cells do you have left?
- 10:37Speaker 2: I mean, we talked about this before we started the video.
- 10:41Speaker 2: You made mention of it. Like, looking at Tennessee losing by, what,
- 10:46Speaker 2: three points or something like that, and their true freshman
- 10:49Speaker 2: quarterback got sacked 10 times? I know it's a loss.
- 10:54Speaker 2: That's impressive. And so if we look at Clemson and
- 10:57Speaker 2: we go, hold on, hold on, they go into this
- 10:59Speaker 2: Miami game, they lose by, to me, if Clemson loses
- 11:02Speaker 2: by 14 points or less, I'm like, wow, we have
- 11:07Speaker 2: turned a corner here. Now, am I on the inside
- 11:10Speaker 2: bitter and irritated that we would ever get to this place?
- 11:14Speaker 2: That the Biltmore House, the largest, beautiful home in privately
- 11:19Speaker 2: owned in the United States of America, basically became a shack? Yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 2: of course I'm mad about that. I mean, can you
- 11:27Speaker 2: imagine if the Biltmore House, they just let it get
- 11:29Speaker 2: run down into like a shack? Yeah, you would be like,
- 11:33Speaker 2: what happened here? That's how I feel about Clemson football.
- 11:37Speaker 2: But either way, Clemson, if they come into this game
- 11:40Speaker 2: and they play competitive football here, Even I have to say, okay, okay,
- 11:47Speaker 2: all right. Maybe this is one of the best stories
- 11:50Speaker 2: of all time where they turn the corner and they
- 11:53Speaker 2: make me eat crow. And folks, here's the thing. If
- 11:56Speaker 2: you want to make me eat crow, for goodness sakes,
- 12:00Speaker 2: after forever of me sitting over here starving to death,
- 12:03Speaker 2: go ahead and be my guest. Yeah, because you're right.
- 12:08Speaker 2: After this game, it's extremely winnable. And so the only
- 12:13Speaker 2: thing that really makes me feel like, ooh, my skin's crawling,
- 12:16Speaker 2: every time you play, almost every time for the past
- 12:19Speaker 2: six years you've played a good football team, you've lost.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And on top of that, you've got your butt whipped
- 12:26Speaker 2: several times when you've played top ten teams. So if
- 12:29Speaker 2: you want to write the story, you want history to
- 12:32Speaker 2: be different, when we look back on this season, starting
- 12:35Speaker 2: 7-30 on Saturday night against Miami, don't go in there
- 12:40Speaker 2: and get blown out. don't do it don't do that
- 12:43Speaker 2: go in there play them well and uh let them
- 12:47Speaker 2: go back to south florida with a bunch of bruises
- 12:51Speaker 2: even if they do win and you can build on
- 12:53Speaker 2: that so it would be very interesting to see how
- 12:55Speaker 2: we approach this game but there's there's a lot of
- 12:58Speaker 2: moving variables here.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Yeah for for sure and i think that's where you
- 13:03Speaker 1: know if you're miami or i'm sorry if you're clemson
- 13:06Speaker 1: you can have the realistic conversation of, Hey, our talent
- 13:10Speaker 1: level is not where it's supposed to be. And you know,
- 13:15Speaker 1: when we go up against matchups like this and LSU
- 13:17Speaker 1: and others, um, that is a very real argument. And
- 13:21Speaker 1: that's a more, it's a, you know, macro big picture
- 13:25Speaker 1: type thing. Whereas the specific, the specifics of the season
- 13:29Speaker 1: are still the specifics of the season. If you go
- 13:31Speaker 1: 10 and two, That's really not the way, you know,
- 13:35Speaker 1: that's not the, you probably end up in Charlotte for
- 13:37Speaker 1: the championship, you know, like, and then you got a
- 13:39Speaker 1: chance at a rematch and I probably would pick Miami
- 13:42Speaker 1: there if they're there because, but man, football's weird. And
- 13:46Speaker 1: you know, none of us would have picked Oklahoma state.
- 13:48Speaker 1: No one else would against Oregon. None of us would.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I didn't think Tennessee would just lose by three in
- 13:53Speaker 1: sack 10 to like football is weird. And you do
- 13:54Speaker 1: have an opportunity.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 1: The just thoughts on Reynolds and this wide receiver. You,
- 14:00Speaker 1: I think if there's a, an area that you can
- 14:03Speaker 1: attack Miami, I think their defensive line is still really good.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I wonder how much Clemson will be able to run
- 14:08Speaker 1: the ball effectively. And I know the weather's there, but
- 14:11Speaker 1: if there's an area where you can, where maybe you
- 14:13Speaker 1: can attack Miami just a tad, it is on the
- 14:15Speaker 1: backend where they've had a lot of injuries in the
- 14:17Speaker 1: secondary and, Clemson's got the best, some of the best
- 14:20Speaker 1: wide receivers in the country and Reynolds just looks a
- 14:23Speaker 1: little bit better each week. You know, is that kind
- 14:26Speaker 1: of your thought is, Hey, I know we want to
- 14:28Speaker 1: run to maybe slow this game down and not let
- 14:30Speaker 1: Mensah have the ball for as much time, but like,
- 14:32Speaker 1: we're going to have to hit them with some big
- 14:34Speaker 1: plays at some point.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I think just an intelligent, an intelligent aggression. I
- 14:41Speaker 2: like to say this, we're not playing PlayStation here. We
- 14:43Speaker 2: can't run streaks over and over at this. That's not
- 14:47Speaker 2: what I'm talking about. But I would tell you what
- 14:48Speaker 2: we've seen in Clemson over the past five years, and
- 14:51Speaker 2: I know it's a different offensive coordinator. I know that
- 14:55Speaker 2: we have Morris back. But even in that LSU game,
- 14:59Speaker 2: we played it really safe and we paid the price
- 15:04Speaker 2: like big time. And so hopefully we've learned from that.
- 15:08Speaker 2: We don't need to treat Tate as a freshman, even
- 15:12Speaker 2: though he is. If you want to give him one
- 15:14Speaker 2: drive to get kind of comfortable in this big game,
- 15:17Speaker 2: this environment, the keys to the car are his versus
- 15:21Speaker 2: the last time Herb Street and Fowler saw Clemson, it
- 15:24Speaker 2: was Vizina and Baton Rouge and getting beat up, and
- 15:28Speaker 2: then Tate trots out there. It's a different story, right?
- 15:31Speaker 2: I think the key is Let Miami know we're not
- 15:35Speaker 2: going down without a fight. We're going to stretch the field.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And I know this past week against California, a lot
- 15:42Speaker 2: of people made fun of that whole flea flicker thing.
- 15:44Speaker 2: What a disaster. Dude, you know me. You know me
- 15:47Speaker 2: very well in my approach to the game. I was happy.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I wasn't happy we turned over the ball. But I
- 15:53Speaker 2: was happy. I was like, yeah, show these guys we
- 15:56Speaker 2: didn't just fly out here to lose or to keep
- 15:59Speaker 2: it competitive or win because our field goal kicker hits
- 16:02Speaker 2: 10 field goals. No. No. We came out here to
- 16:04Speaker 2: beat you. We're tired of this. We're tired of this.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Playing a barbaric sport like Pee Wee Herman. We have
- 16:11Speaker 2: to stop this. It's time to get out here and
- 16:14Speaker 2: play like men. It's time for when someone, before they
- 16:18Speaker 2: can punch you in the mouth, you punch them in
- 16:21Speaker 2: the gut and the mouth. That's what you must do.
- 16:24Speaker 2: And with Miami, listen, Miami fans are watching this.
- 16:27Speaker 1: You're laughing.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Hey, dude, I don't blame you. Clemson has earned this.
- 16:31Speaker 2: If I'm Clemson right now, I should ask myself, what
- 16:34Speaker 2: should I do? Let's just say either way, in destiny,
- 16:38Speaker 2: it's already been predetermined. We lose this game. Do we
- 16:41Speaker 2: want to lose this game safe? Or do we want
- 16:44Speaker 2: to punch them in the mouth and say, this is
- 16:46Speaker 2: not going to be an easy one. I take the
- 16:48Speaker 2: second one. I say we need to stretch the field
- 16:51Speaker 2: early on. Keep them honest. Open up the run game.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Don't run Tate too much. Because this team... They're going
- 16:59Speaker 2: to hit him. They don't even have to do anything dirty.
- 17:01Speaker 2: They're just going to hit him hard. They're really good athletes.
- 17:04Speaker 2: So we need to come out in this game, wipe
- 17:08Speaker 2: our minds clean of all the bad things that could happen,
- 17:11Speaker 2: and play aggressive football and drive it home. We are
- 17:16Speaker 2: here to win this ballgame, even if we don't win it.
- 17:19Speaker 2: And that's how they have to approach it.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Last seven quarters, Clemson has held UNC.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And Cal to 16 points total. Absolutely a change after
- 17:31Speaker 1: that first quarter of the UNC game on defense. Miami,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I think, has one of the most diverse offenses in
- 17:39Speaker 1: the country that can beat you multiple ways. I think
- 17:41Speaker 1: Mensah should probably win the Heisman, although there are a
- 17:45Speaker 1: lot of guys up there that are in conversation for that,
- 17:47Speaker 1: but he'll be there talked about at the end of
- 17:49Speaker 1: the year for the Heisman. We know how good Tony is.
- 17:52Speaker 1: We know how good their running backs are. Fletcher was
- 17:53Speaker 1: banged up last week, didn't play. I kind of wonder
- 17:55Speaker 1: if that limits them a little bit. Their backup, Marty Brown,
- 17:58Speaker 1: also out for the year. And so their offense is really,
- 18:03Speaker 1: really good. They've struggled a little bit with the interior
- 18:06Speaker 1: of the offensive line. They haven't got the running push
- 18:09Speaker 1: that they got last year, and they– still score a
- 18:15Speaker 1: lot of points. They're incredibly efficient. I think dairy mints
- 18:18Speaker 1: is complete. I think he has more touchdowns than he
- 18:20Speaker 1: has in completion. Still to this point, he's throwing at
- 18:23Speaker 1: 88% completion percentage. It's absolutely stupid that a guy can
- 18:27Speaker 1: be that efficient. Uh, but I mean, but it's impressive.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Like I, what, what they're doing is really, really good.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I don't know that I believe in Clemson's offense enough
- 18:35Speaker 1: to where if this game gets into the thirties that
- 18:37Speaker 1: they can hang with them, I think you really got
- 18:40Speaker 1: to keep them around that 20 to 24 mark and
- 18:43Speaker 1: then hope that your offense does enough. So thoughts on
- 18:46Speaker 1: Clemson being able to slow this offense down, and then
- 18:48Speaker 1: we'll get out of here.
- 18:49Speaker 2: If you accept that Tony is going to get his
- 18:52Speaker 2: and that Mensah will get his, I think, first off,
- 18:57Speaker 2: that's not going to shock you when you're in the game.
- 18:59Speaker 2: And it's like, whoa, I had Tony in front of me,
- 19:04Speaker 2: and somehow he planted his foot, and he's now behind
- 19:06Speaker 2: me for a 15-yard gain. Now, that can't happen every play.
- 19:11Speaker 2: It'll be a long day. But if you'll go ahead
- 19:14Speaker 2: and accept that they're going to get theirs and they're
- 19:17Speaker 2: going to have some successful moments, and then you can
- 19:20Speaker 2: clear your mind and say, all right, all right, now
- 19:23Speaker 2: let's play this play, right? We're not so overwhelmed by
- 19:27Speaker 2: what just happened. And then you play really good, solid,
- 19:31Speaker 2: fundamental football. Tom Allen, I'm a big fan of Tom Allen.
- 19:34Speaker 2: I know he's had some tough times at Clemson, but
- 19:36Speaker 2: I'm a fan of the guy. I've talked about the
- 19:39Speaker 2: offense a lot because it's just been so pedestrian. This
- 19:43Speaker 2: defense has stepped it up in the last six quarters.
- 19:47Speaker 2: We're seeing a lot more pressure, a lot more aggressiveness.
- 19:49Speaker 2: He does have some players that can do that. We
- 19:52Speaker 2: do have some injuries. A lot of injuries along the
- 19:55Speaker 2: defensive line. It's just like every other day where I'm
- 19:59Speaker 2: opening up Google or looking at a Clemson football forum.
- 20:08Speaker 2: And someone else has, you know, tweaked something or tore
- 20:11Speaker 2: something or, you know, someone backed over their foot with
- 20:14Speaker 2: a car. I just made that up. But I'm just
- 20:16Speaker 2: saying it's just bizarre stuff. But we still have some
- 20:19Speaker 2: solid players out there. Most notably, Will Helt on the edge,
- 20:23Speaker 2: four sacks on the season, one of the best linebackers
- 20:25Speaker 2: in college football, no matter who he plays for. He
- 20:28Speaker 2: could play for the University of Oompa Loompas. He's still
- 20:30Speaker 2: going to get his. Sammy Brown is unbelievable. Ashton Hampton
- 20:34Speaker 2: is a massive human being, and yes, he is a cornerback.
- 20:37Speaker 2: He looks like a flipping linebacker. So we do have
- 20:40Speaker 2: some talent there. Overall, we have to be aggressive. against Miami.
- 20:46Speaker 2: This guy, Mensah, can just stand back there and pick
- 20:50Speaker 2: and choose. Go ahead and pick and choose. Don't let
- 20:52Speaker 2: him pick and choose. At least get his jersey dirty.
- 20:55Speaker 2: I'm not calling for anything dirty, but I am saying
- 20:57Speaker 2: get his jersey dirty. Hit the guy. Nail him. Make
- 21:01Speaker 2: him force something. Make him force his first interception of
- 21:04Speaker 2: this season. and give Clemson a fighting chance because I
- 21:07Speaker 2: do agree with you. If we get into the 30s,
- 21:09Speaker 2: I don't think Clemson's offense has matured to the place
- 21:12Speaker 2: where they can keep up. So we need the defense
- 21:14Speaker 2: to step up, create some opportunities. And across the board, TJ,
- 21:19Speaker 2: we need to play good, solid, fundamental football. No turnovers,
- 21:23Speaker 2: no hopping off sides, no flinching for a false start.
- 21:27Speaker 2: We are playing probably the toughest team all season. We
- 21:32Speaker 2: saw what it looked like three or four weeks ago.
- 21:34Speaker 2: The question is, Have we turned the corner and learned
- 21:36Speaker 2: our lesson enough to just go back to the fundamentals
- 21:39Speaker 2: of football?
- 21:41Speaker 1: Give me a score and then tell me how people
- 21:44Speaker 1: can find you and what you got coming this week.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Give me a score. I hate that's the part. I know.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I know. Here we go. Tuesday.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Somebody just asked me for my FSU UVA one. And
- 21:54Speaker 1: I'm like, I didn't even got over whining about the
- 21:56Speaker 1: last game yet. How are you asking me about the
- 21:58Speaker 1: next one? But sorry.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Well, no, no, no, no. Yeah. I'd be whining about that. But, uh,
- 22:04Speaker 2: I just remembered that. That's replaying in my mind right now. Anyway,
- 22:06Speaker 2: you shouldn't have done that to me. I have a
- 22:07Speaker 2: short attention span. So I gave my prediction, released my
- 22:12Speaker 2: prediction video on my channel, Clemson Football Live. You can
- 22:16Speaker 2: find me on YouTube. So just find Clemson Football Live
- 22:20Speaker 2: and chime in. You'll see that prediction. I did not
- 22:23Speaker 2: give a score, but I know that right now Vegas
- 22:25Speaker 2: has Miami as a 16 and a half point favorite.
- 22:28Speaker 2: And I said on my prediction video, I'll take the over.
- 22:32Speaker 2: I believe Miami... comes into Clemson, and they win by
- 22:35Speaker 2: at least 17 points. Now, my hope is that we
- 22:39Speaker 2: don't see LSU all over again. I don't know what's
- 22:43Speaker 2: going to happen to the Clemson Nation. Some of them,
- 22:47Speaker 2: they deserve it because they've been absolutely too rude about it.
- 22:50Speaker 2: And six quarters of football has made them awfully arrogant.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Six quarters of improved football. But, you know, I'm seeing
- 22:58Speaker 2: somewhere in the 30-10 range, kind of range. The best
- 23:05Speaker 2: case scenario for Clemson, other than winning, is the 10-point win,
- 23:09Speaker 2: like a 20-10. I think our offense is just going
- 23:11Speaker 2: to struggle against them. You have a freshman quarterback they're
- 23:14Speaker 2: going to come after. We have had some drops at
- 23:16Speaker 2: the wide receiver position. I think they're going to overwhelm
- 23:19Speaker 2: Tate and try to make him force the football a
- 23:22Speaker 2: little too early, leading our receivers not to be able
- 23:25Speaker 2: to complete their routes and so on. So best case
- 23:27Speaker 2: scenario for me, other than a win, an upset, would
- 23:30Speaker 2: be 20-10. But I'm seeing something like 30-10, and I
- 23:36Speaker 2: hope that's as bad as it gets.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and it could be a situation, again, if you're
- 23:40Speaker 1: trying to paint all the silver linings, if this is
- 23:42Speaker 1: a 10-point game in the fourth quarter, and it's 20-10,
- 23:46Speaker 1: and then they score a late one to make it 27-10,
- 23:49Speaker 1: where it really puts it out of reach, you know
- 23:50Speaker 1: you're not going to win. but you were competitive for
- 23:52Speaker 1: three and a half quarters or three quarters. Again, you're
- 23:55Speaker 1: looking on something to, to build for the rest of
- 23:57Speaker 1: the year. Clemson's got a lot of opportunities to win
- 23:58Speaker 1: games down the stretch here. And they got to even,
- 24:01Speaker 1: even in a loss, they, again, I know people hate
- 24:03Speaker 1: the silver lining crap because it does suck. Trust me,
- 24:05Speaker 1: I'm doing a lot of it with that. But even
- 24:08Speaker 1: in a loss, you need to do something here to
- 24:10Speaker 1: show that you are going to go out and perform
- 24:12Speaker 1: the rest of the year. So Brian, I appreciate you
- 24:14Speaker 1: a ton. We appreciate our friends over at PrizePix. We're
- 24:17Speaker 1: all new users who play a $ 5 lineup and win,
- 24:19Speaker 1: get $ 150 in lineups instantly if they use code HMA. Buddy,
- 24:23Speaker 1: we'll see you next time.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Thanks for having me on. Take care of yourself, bud.
