- 0:48Speaker 1: Come jump into our Facebook group, Girls Gone Hallmark. Like
- 0:52Speaker 1: Meghan said off Mike, we uh it. It operates at
- 0:55Speaker 1: a high level there.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not just shirtless dude photos being dropped in there.
- 1:02Speaker 2: It's like talk about upcoming projects and who's directing this,

- 1:17Speaker 2: I'd like to read a recent review which says, love Hallmark,
- 1:21Speaker 2: You'll love this podcast five stars. I look forward to
- 1:25Speaker 2: this podcast every week. It's entertaining and interesting and always
- 1:28Speaker 2: makes me feel like I'm hanging out in the kitchen
- 1:30Speaker 2: chatting with Megan and Wendy. Give it a listen. How
- 1:33Speaker 2: does she know we're in the kitchen?
- 1:35Speaker 1: You actually mentioned that last week yesterday? Yesterday? Yeah, but
- 1:39Speaker 1: is that episode live yet? Yes? Oh, this is okay.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I think it's been I think it's been brought up
- 1:45Speaker 1: more than once. I mean we have shared some Instagram
- 1:48Speaker 1: reels and stuff of us here at the table, so it.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Is in the kitchen, the dining room, really the room. Yes,
- 1:56Speaker 2: also our studios on the vision board for Tony twenty five.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Damn right it is. Thanks for your reviews. We appreciate them.
- 2:04Speaker 1: They help people find our podcast.
- 2:06Speaker 2: You can also rate our podcast in Spotify as well.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Speaking of ratings, Yes, a little Hallmark News tell me
- 2:13Speaker 2: Sleepy Kitty Pod dropped the ratings on the first twenty
- 2:17Speaker 2: seven movies that have dropped so far for Hallmark this year, in.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Order of their live and same day viewer numbers. Okay,
- 2:28Speaker 1: what would you guess is number one? It's got to
- 2:30Speaker 1: be builtmore. You'd be wrong.
- 2:33Speaker 2: You are forgetting the power of one Miss Lacey Schipper
- 2:39Speaker 2: every time knocks it out of the park.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Call out the hotty, haul out the hotties. You're wrong again, Mary,
- 2:45Speaker 1: Scottish Christmas is three point three million. Wows. You are
- 2:51Speaker 1: right that Biltmore came in at number two with three
- 2:53Speaker 1: point one two million.
- 2:55Speaker 2: If you had to guess, what are the other three
- 2:56Speaker 2: movies in the top five, Haul out the Holly lit
- 2:59Speaker 2: up number four.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Or okay, hold on Biltmore, haul out the Holly Scottish Christmas.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you it's not what you think, and
- 3:07Speaker 2: that the other movies I think had the advantage of maybe.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Timing on their side. Never Been Christed, Never Been Chris
- 3:15Speaker 1: comes in at number fourteen. Can you give me a
- 3:18Speaker 1: hint a movie that you said warmed your heart? Christmas
- 3:23Speaker 1: Island number three? Yeah? Boy? And Tedler Holiday number six,
- 3:30Speaker 1: Oh so close, Dobble Holiday Hotline.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Yeah yay?
- 3:35Speaker 1: Given at number five awesome.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You know that Thanksgiving week I think gives those movies
- 3:41Speaker 2: a boost.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah for sure.
- 3:42Speaker 2: What would you guys is number twenty seven of twenty
- 3:44Speaker 2: seven not a movie we watched for the shit. The
- 3:47Speaker 2: podcast The soccer one No Christmas in notting Hill is
- 3:52Speaker 2: actually number twelve.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It's the Jingle Jammies movie Christmas by Design. Oh, we
- 3:56Speaker 1: didn't watch that, which was also an opening weekend movie.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I still have no desire to watch that movie.
- 4:02Speaker 2: This sorry, this isn't making me want to watch it.
- 4:05Speaker 2: We have not reviewed the bottom five movie.
- 4:08Speaker 1: What are the bottom five?
- 4:09Speaker 2: A Royal Christmas Crust which was a Christmas in July movie, okay,
- 4:13Speaker 2: under the Christmas Guy Ryan Pavey, Nope. Letters to Santa
- 4:17Speaker 2: Magic Pen nope, take me back for Christmas also July, okay.
- 4:22Speaker 1: And Christmas by Design. Well, you know what's real? Said
- 4:26Speaker 1: Santa Summit number twenty. That's a terrible placement because that's
- 4:29Speaker 1: a great movie. I know, I think I need to
- 4:31Speaker 1: we need to start a campaign for these movies. Well,
- 4:34Speaker 1: it would be different if we could see the plus
- 4:35Speaker 1: three numbers.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Or even the how is it doing on Peacock after
- 4:40Speaker 2: all the chatter about it, This is just a mere snapshot,
- 4:44Speaker 2: a mere snapshot. And also what I think it would
- 4:47Speaker 2: be really interesting to see is if they had Day
- 4:50Speaker 2: of the Week right next to all of this, because
- 4:53Speaker 2: that's obviously going to play a factor as well.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, speaking of twenty twenty four vision boards, Sleepy kitty,
- 5:00Speaker 1: pause on that for me. Let's do a synopsis. All right,
- 5:04Speaker 1: It's short and sweet. A woman named Sorry, a woman
- 5:09Speaker 1: named Mona returns home to help with her family's Christmas carnival,
- 5:12Speaker 1: and romance ignites. A photojournalist curates a surprise reunion.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Hey, time for some news and notes. This was filmed
- 5:21Speaker 2: in and around Milton, Ontario, Canada, in October twenty twenty
- 5:24Speaker 2: three early October and as when he pointed out what
- 5:28Speaker 2: came first, a chicken of the egg. It was filmed
- 5:30Speaker 2: in Milton, also in the fictional town of upstate New York,
- 5:34Speaker 2: Milton I Wonder.
- 5:36Speaker 1: This movie was written by Angela Bert Murray. Angela frequently
- 5:41Speaker 1: works with director Roger Bob and has written and produced
- 5:44Speaker 1: a number of things he has directed. She has eleven
- 5:48Speaker 1: previous writing credits, including several Christmas movies, although none of
- 5:51Speaker 1: them for Hallmark.
- 5:53Speaker 2: The screenplay was written by Maggie Bush and Lanry Dewu.
- 5:57Speaker 2: This is Lanry's first writing credit and Maggie's six, although
- 6:01Speaker 2: it is.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Her first four Hallmark. This movie was directed by Roger Bob.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Roger has twenty four directing credits, including previous Mahogany movies
- 6:09Speaker 1: such as a Nashville Legacy and the Holiday Stocking. Michelle
- 6:14Speaker 1: Morgan plays Mona.
- 6:15Speaker 2: She has twenty six acting credits, but I feel like
- 6:17Speaker 2: that number is a bit deceptive given that she's had
- 6:20Speaker 2: a ten year run on The Young and the Restless,
- 6:22Speaker 2: in when she's appeared in seven hundred and ninety nine
- 6:24Speaker 2: episodes as Amanda Sinclair. This is, however, her first Hallmark movie.
- 6:31Speaker 1: It's funny to me because IMDb only gave you the
- 6:34Speaker 1: credit for working on like one project, so you could
- 6:38Speaker 1: have three acting credits, but you've worked for ten years
- 6:42Speaker 1: on a soap and did one thousand episodes. Ronnie wrote
- 6:47Speaker 1: junior plays des Ronnie's first Hallmark movie was jingle Bell Bride,
- 6:52Speaker 1: And incidentally, that was also the first Hallmark review we
- 6:56Speaker 1: ever did hear on Girls Gone Hallmark. We are begging
- 6:58Speaker 1: you not to go back, and I am terrified to
- 7:01Speaker 1: listen to it. I don't even think we had like
- 7:04Speaker 1: a full We didn't have like did we have Second Yeah, sure, no,
- 7:08Speaker 1: we didn't do like News and Notes at that time,
- 7:11Speaker 1: certainly didn't do Hallmark. And I'm afraid I'm afraid to
- 7:14Speaker 1: even guess guys. I'm not leaving a link to that
- 7:16Speaker 1: at our show notes, please don't go look for it.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Ronnie has forty five acting credits, including Game of Love
- 7:22Speaker 1: from earlier in twenty twenty three, for which he is
- 7:25Speaker 1: not credited on IMDb. Hmmm. Jamie m.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Kalika plays Fletcher. This is Jamie's first Hallmark movie, although
- 7:31Speaker 2: he's no strangers of the TV movie game, having worked
- 7:33Speaker 2: for both Lifetime and Own previously. He does have another
- 7:36Speaker 2: Christmas movie dropping on twelve twenty three this year, Christmas Revisited,
- 7:41Speaker 2: which we'll be able.
- 7:42Speaker 1: To stream on Max. Look why are you dropping a
- 7:44Speaker 1: Christmas movie two days before Christmas? My thoughts exactly, That's
- 7:47Speaker 1: so weird to me. Janey Armagan plays Aaron. She tends
- 7:53Speaker 1: to wage much grittier fair in her previous forty one
- 7:57Speaker 1: acting credits. Let me let me hit you with some
- 7:59Speaker 1: of these? Would you kill for Me?
- 8:01Speaker 2: The Mary Bailey Story, Pocket Dial, Murder, Who Killed Our Father?
- 8:05Speaker 2: Trapped With My Husband Love, Triangle Nightmare. She was also
- 8:09Speaker 2: in a Chestnut Family Christmas, so this is not her
- 8:12Speaker 2: first Christmas movie, and she was in five episodes of
- 8:15Speaker 2: The Good Witch, which of course is a Hallmark series,
- 8:17Speaker 2: so this is not her first rodeo with an hour.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Are those movies you named are they lifetime movies? I'm
- 8:25Speaker 1: guessing Would You Kill for Me is a lifetime movie. Yeah,
- 8:28Speaker 1: I figured, starring Melsa jon Hart. Oh. Hey, by the way,
- 8:32Speaker 1: our podcast is beating hers on the charts.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Nice.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Oh.
- 8:35Speaker 2: She also has two upcoming movies are Mother's Secret Affair
- 8:38Speaker 2: and Murder at the Altar.
- 8:39Speaker 1: So wow, you're ready for first impressions? I am you
- 8:43Speaker 1: go first? I feel like I always go.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Disclaimer, AI did not write this for me. The lesson
- 8:48Speaker 2: the season is high school crushes aren't all they're.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Cracked up to be? Fair points given mine is there's
- 8:55Speaker 1: cool and then there's two cool. Oh Fletcher, it's not
- 9:01Speaker 1: too Wendy's shaking her head. Let's find out. Coming on
- 9:06Speaker 1: to what we liked. For me, this was a very
- 9:10Speaker 1: middle of the road movie, you know, during the non
- 9:15Speaker 1: holiday season on Hallmark.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I feel like Mahogany movies really level up the storytelling
- 9:20Speaker 2: that absolutely. I've found that the countdown to Christmas movies
- 9:25Speaker 2: don't always get the same treatment.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I know we're talking about what we liked, but can
- 9:28Speaker 1: I say something kind of spicy?
- 9:30Speaker 3: Sure?
- 9:31Speaker 2: I feel perhaps like with the Mahogany line a Hallmark
- 9:35Speaker 2: is in some cases during the Countdown to Christmas season
- 9:39Speaker 2: checking a box. Absolutely agree because I feel that the
- 9:43Speaker 2: diversity is dropping off a cliff and our other movies
- 9:47Speaker 2: like Hallmarks so white.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I think for a minute there Hallmark was making great
- 9:53Speaker 1: strides and this year has dropped off in terms of diversity.
- 9:58Speaker 2: In addition to diverse their cast, we want a variety
- 10:02Speaker 2: of stories, we want a variety of people represented. But
- 10:04Speaker 2: don't fall back on what you know while you're pushing forward,
- 10:08Speaker 2: Like the Santa Summit, real white and you had an
- 10:11Speaker 2: opportunity there for it not to.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Be Okay, the one actress of college, Yeah you're right,
- 10:17Speaker 1: You're absolutely right, and every single couple is straight. Yeah, yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 1: you're absolutely right. There and skinny.
- 10:25Speaker 2: There's one non tiny actress in the entire Countdown to
- 10:30Speaker 2: Christmas lineup, Yes, one Yes, and was mercilessly written up.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Horrible things were said about her. That's what happens when
- 10:42Speaker 2: you do it once, when you tokenize.
- 10:46Speaker 1: That actress, when it doesn't become a usual thing on
- 10:51Speaker 1: the network, then it's a standard. There's no representation, and
- 10:55Speaker 1: all of a sudden, it's like that becomes a problem.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Now half of our listener have just turned this off
- 11:01Speaker 1: because of this, So let's hop back into Yeah, okay,
- 11:04Speaker 1: let's talk about what we liked. I enjoyed this idea
- 11:09Speaker 1: that people are too busy today and that we're missing out,
- 11:15Speaker 1: you know, in good old fashioned fun in our lives.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Too many screens, too much busyness, you know, that we
- 11:22Speaker 1: just don't make time to go to like something as
- 11:26Speaker 1: fun and simple and special as like a family carnival.
- 11:31Speaker 1: I kind of enjoyed that I heard that message.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and I actually thought the carnival was well executed
- 11:38Speaker 2: on screen. I thought it was nice to look at.
- 11:41Speaker 2: It looked like a place I would want to go.
- 11:43Speaker 2: It didn't look like a couple of tents in a
- 11:45Speaker 2: parking lot. I enjoyed the history of the quilt tradition
- 11:50Speaker 2: being passed down. Sure, there were some moments where I
- 11:53Speaker 2: bristled where I was like, wait, just because it's your tradition, it.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Is not required for your daughters to take it over
- 12:00Speaker 1: if they don't have any interest in it. So that's
- 12:02Speaker 1: some interesting point you've brought up. Because I believe it
- 12:06Speaker 1: was Mysstic Christmas that also talked about tradition and do
- 12:13Speaker 1: you remember the line It was something like is it
- 12:16Speaker 1: tradition because you like it or is it because you
- 12:19Speaker 1: remember it? Right? And that's my whole problem. Look, I'm
- 12:25Speaker 1: if you want to hear me talk about why I
- 12:27Speaker 1: don't really love the holidays, come on over to our Patreon.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I talk about that on What's Good. I yeah, we
- 12:32Speaker 1: might save that for What's Good. I tradition hangs me up.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Uh huh during the holiday season. Does it feel like obligation? Yes, yeah, exactly,
- 12:42Speaker 1: And I understand, like I can see, like, yes, I
- 12:46Speaker 1: see what's special about doing traditional things because those memories
- 12:51Speaker 1: hold like special meeting for you and so on and
- 12:54Speaker 1: so forth. But when it becomes obligation, then I don't
- 12:58Speaker 1: want anything to do with it. What I bump up
- 13:01Speaker 1: against with like certain people, is like, well if I
- 13:05Speaker 1: say I don't want to do that this year, and
- 13:07Speaker 1: the response is well, it's tradition, does that still mean
- 13:11Speaker 1: I have to do it then just because it's tradition.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I think we can push back on tradition a little
- 13:17Speaker 2: bit if it's not bringing anybody joy. I saw someone
- 13:19Speaker 2: say on social media and like, the.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Rush of this season is a lie. There is no timeline,
- 13:25Speaker 1: there is no actual rush. We've put this on ourselves.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Obviously there's you celebrate Christmas, that date looms, but we
- 13:32Speaker 2: just feel like we have to cram it all in.
- 13:34Speaker 2: There's so much to do and it's not real, and
- 13:36Speaker 2: we've put it on ourselves. And I think going back.
- 13:41Speaker 1: To this movie, just enjoying the family carnival, but also
- 13:46Speaker 1: back to your point, should the daughters feel like they
- 13:51Speaker 1: have to take over this family carnival because mom and
- 13:54Speaker 1: dad can't do it's think they should.
- 13:56Speaker 2: When they were like, okay, well we could have sold it,
- 13:59Speaker 2: but no, we want you girls.
- 14:00Speaker 1: To do it. Yeah, I thought they were going to
- 14:02Speaker 1: be like, look, we're getting too old. Fine, fair, and
- 14:06Speaker 1: here are the options instead of here are the options,
- 14:10Speaker 1: they said you need to take it over. Yes, I
- 14:13Speaker 1: was like, well, I didn't see that coming. I didn't
- 14:15Speaker 1: love that.
- 14:16Speaker 2: If I'm the parents in this situation, this is my
- 14:18Speaker 2: life's work and I'm ready to retire. I understand wanting
- 14:21Speaker 2: your children to do it, But do you want your
- 14:23Speaker 2: children to take it over and resent it and hate
- 14:25Speaker 2: it and do it badly? Or do you want someone
- 14:26Speaker 2: who cares about it? Or do you want your children
- 14:29Speaker 2: to stop pursuing their own dreams?
- 14:31Speaker 1: Right to further yours, Like Mona has this very successful
- 14:36Speaker 1: career and while it might look different than your life,
- 14:40Speaker 1: she has a life. Yeah, okay, yes, I really enjoyed
- 14:44Speaker 1: the two male leads, Ronnie Rowe as Dez and Jamie Kalikio.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I think it's Kalika Well, I spelled Colikio on my
- 14:55Speaker 1: note here, but I think you are right as Fletcher.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Nice too, handsome dudes, both charming. I was like, oh,
- 15:01Speaker 1: here we go, we're gonna have a little bit of
- 15:02Speaker 1: a triangle. But as soon as he's like, I don't
- 15:05Speaker 1: want kids, I was like, well, there's your choice right there.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Like she just kept trying to make it happen though,
- 15:11Speaker 2: like she knew that he wasn't a fit. He kept
- 15:14Speaker 2: making all of these comments that you made it very
- 15:16Speaker 2: clear he wasn't a fit, and she kept like, oh, please.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Ask me to the dance. Oh, I'd love to go
- 15:22Speaker 1: to the dance with you. And I just thought, why
- 15:24Speaker 1: you've got.
- 15:24Speaker 2: On two days with this guy. He's showing you he's
- 15:26Speaker 2: not what you want. You've had all these bad dates.
- 15:28Speaker 2: You should be able to weed them out at this point.
- 15:30Speaker 1: I know, but I think women also think I can
- 15:33Speaker 1: change you. Let me change your mind.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Redemption story for breaking my heart in high school.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I liked the.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Dudes too, And I really loved the Shade does throws
- 15:45Speaker 2: at Fletcher for not being a gentleman. He has multiple
- 15:49Speaker 2: opportunities to get those digs in, and I really loved.
- 15:52Speaker 1: It that whole scene where like they're introduced to each
- 15:55Speaker 1: other and they're like hey, and it was such a
- 16:01Speaker 1: baby when they're at oh, the choir singing events that
- 16:06Speaker 1: was happening, and she's going to Dez and he just
- 16:09Speaker 1: turns around and walks away. Yeah, nope, you're an adult man,
- 16:12Speaker 1: don't behave like that. I agree. Some of the dialogue
- 16:17Speaker 1: was really good in this movie felt very current. You know,
- 16:20Speaker 1: sometimes these scripts get really hallmarkified. And at one point
- 16:26Speaker 1: Des says something like, oh, I wasn't trying to throw shade,
- 16:29Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, I like that. Yes, you know,
- 16:32Speaker 1: current trendy language. I agree. Hey, I liked the military
- 16:37Speaker 1: storyline here, did you? Yeah?
- 16:38Speaker 2: I thought it was sweet how Dez got the boys
- 16:41Speaker 2: involved in creating these memories for their dad.
- 16:43Speaker 1: We're missing him. How can we channel that energy into something?
- 16:47Speaker 1: I love?
- 16:48Speaker 2: A military homecoming and he comes home. That was very sweet,
- 16:50Speaker 2: and I got to be there and that des made
- 16:52Speaker 2: that happen for him. I like that heart warming moment.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I was watching this movie thinking.
- 16:59Speaker 1: This is a very beautiful cast.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Then on Twitter, I see Ryan Williams, he's a producer, tweeted,
- 17:07Speaker 2: please give the makeup artists at Hallmark Mahogany Production a
- 17:10Speaker 2: raise and a day off.
- 17:12Speaker 1: These are his words.
- 17:12Speaker 2: These African Americans in the cold upstate New York and
- 17:15Speaker 2: quotation marks town are moisturized to the gods. Not one
- 17:18Speaker 2: dry lipnck or split end in the entire cast.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And were you an Oprah watcher back in the day. Sure,
- 17:26Speaker 1: Oprah classically said everyone looks good on my set because
- 17:32Speaker 1: I make sure that my lighting works for black people.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Oh and they're saying everybody looks good.
- 17:39Speaker 2: One of the SAG negotiations that I don't know what
- 17:42Speaker 2: the outcome was, was that you need to have specific
- 17:45Speaker 2: hair and makeup artists for actors of color, who seem
- 17:49Speaker 2: the no brainer, yes, but it.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Has not been. So You've have people that don't know
- 17:54Speaker 1: how to work with particular textures of hair. And I
- 17:57Speaker 1: just think that's a really interesting to point out, right, So, uh,
- 18:02Speaker 1: I was not the only person who noticed that. Everybody
- 18:05Speaker 1: like beautiful this M Two scenes that I liked the
- 18:13Speaker 1: opening scene where she's on this bus to day where
- 18:15Speaker 1: he's like, I'm going to get back with my wife.
- 18:18Speaker 1: My husband burst out laughing. I would shocked to see
- 18:22Speaker 1: this first of all, and he's like, I made a
- 18:24Speaker 1: bad impression on my second day. And then he's like, well,
- 18:26Speaker 1: I have something to tell you. Yeah, I'm getting back
- 18:28Speaker 1: together with my wife. But what I liked about that
- 18:31Speaker 1: is the next scene she's is followed by her telling
- 18:34Speaker 1: her friend like, look, this is what I want. I
- 18:36Speaker 1: want kids, I want to be married, I want to
- 18:38Speaker 1: happen before a certain age. Like it was nice to
- 18:41Speaker 1: hear somebody in a Hallmark movie because I don't think
- 18:45Speaker 1: we often get it like this is what I want. M.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I think there's always like this, especially in the female roles,
- 18:52Speaker 1: this indecision of like what could happen, My Prince Charming
- 18:57Speaker 1: could happen, My dream job can happen. There's no like
- 19:01Speaker 1: oftentimes there's no like very focused.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, she's already got the job. So now she's
- 19:08Speaker 2: like this is what I need. Yes, this is what's
- 19:10Speaker 2: going to complete me.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Yes. The other thing I really liked was at the
- 19:14Speaker 1: end when they're dancing in the barn. I really enjoyed
- 19:17Speaker 1: the music. They weren't dancing to some like dumb Christmas
- 19:20Speaker 1: song like you know, trying to dance like jingle bells
- 19:23Speaker 1: or whatever. You know. It was like a contemporary song.
- 19:26Speaker 1: It was nice. I like, enjoyed it. Are you ready
- 19:29Speaker 1: for wishes?
- 19:30Speaker 4: Yes?
- 19:30Speaker 2: Can I talk about that barn dance real quick? Sure,
- 19:33Speaker 2: only because it goes with what you're saying. I did
- 19:35Speaker 2: not like what Mona and.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Deez were wearing individually.
- 19:40Speaker 2: It was fine. They're both wearing red velvet. She's wearing
- 19:42Speaker 2: a red velvet dress. He's wearing a red velvet blazer.
- 19:45Speaker 2: They were not the same shade of red. Oh and
- 19:48Speaker 2: therefore they, in my opinion, didn't look good.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Next tony Ea trailer. Oh, I get Keith costumes on
- 19:54Speaker 1: the case.
- 19:54Speaker 2: But because like I said, separately, great, totally fine, festive
- 19:58Speaker 2: didn't love them together. Okay, I'm nitpicking, all right. I
- 20:02Speaker 2: did enjoy Michelle Morgan. I love a fresh face on Hallmark. However,
- 20:08Speaker 2: back to my first impression where I said, there's cool
- 20:10Speaker 2: and then there's two cool. Oh, I got she played
- 20:13Speaker 2: this character to kind of one note. Everything was she
- 20:18Speaker 2: was very cool. There was no like enthusiasm or inflection
- 20:23Speaker 2: in her delivery. It was just very like, I'm cool,
- 20:27Speaker 2: everything's cool, We'll handle it, you know.
- 20:30Speaker 1: What I mean? Like it was very I loved her,
- 20:33Speaker 1: and in fact, they looked at her up, looked her
- 20:35Speaker 1: up because I was like, what's her resume? Like she's
- 20:39Speaker 1: been on soaps forever. I wonder if this is just
- 20:43Speaker 1: who she is, just this sort of like cool person's
- 20:46Speaker 1: cool cool. The conflict about the article nearly ruined the
- 20:49Speaker 1: movie for me. Oh, it's.
- 20:54Speaker 2: More the desire to introduce too many conflicts into a
- 20:57Speaker 2: story is one that Hallmark fights with lot. We already
- 21:01Speaker 2: have the parents are retiring, Who's going to take over
- 21:04Speaker 2: the business? Are we going to continue this tradition? We
- 21:06Speaker 2: also have this love triangle. What's going to happen there?
- 21:09Speaker 1: We didn't need her also to be angry with Dez
- 21:13Speaker 1: about this completely unbelievable storyline. There was nothing not to
- 21:18Speaker 1: like about the carnival. I mean, it's fine if it's
- 21:19Speaker 1: not your style, like ooh, gaudy Christmas decorations, but it
- 21:23Speaker 1: was charming. It was a small town carnival, yeah, filled
- 21:26Speaker 1: with traditions. There's no one who's going to believe that
- 21:31Speaker 1: this piece is going to exist. Yeah. One point I
- 21:34Speaker 1: was like, is that just supposed to be a clickbait
- 21:36Speaker 1: like why everybody, why we hate Christmas? Or whatever it was.
- 21:39Speaker 1: But then they wouldn't send him there to spend a
- 21:42Speaker 1: full week getting immersed. They could have written that from
- 21:44Speaker 1: a farm. Yeah, you don't need to experience it to
- 21:47Speaker 1: write terrible things about it. The conflict could have.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Been more like she couldn't see that des was the
- 21:53Speaker 2: good guy here instead of now Dez has to be
- 21:56Speaker 2: the bad guy too.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I think the line is like all these men and
- 22:00Speaker 1: are failing her, you know, like she's hoping like, oh
- 22:03Speaker 1: is this going to be the one? Oh, and now
- 22:04Speaker 1: he's disappointed me. He didn't need to, I know. Back
- 22:08Speaker 1: to your point about a lot of storylines, this to
- 22:11Speaker 1: me was one of those like let's throw everything at it, Christmas, Carnival,
- 22:16Speaker 1: aging parents, move from the big city back home, high school, boyfriend, enemies,
- 22:21Speaker 1: it was all of it.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Pull it back, pull it back a little bit like
- 22:24Speaker 2: the Coco Chanelle advice about accessor I take one thing off, yes,
- 22:28Speaker 2: yes exactly.
- 22:29Speaker 1: And finally, my wish final wish is does the reporter
- 22:35Speaker 1: who writes for an online magazine does not know what
- 22:37Speaker 1: a brand ambassador is. Oh my gosh, wait, but she's
- 22:42Speaker 1: not a brand ambassador. She's just an influencer. They're not
- 22:47Speaker 1: the same thing. I hear you. We have an understanding
- 22:51Speaker 1: of I'm begging these people, like, give them a digital
- 22:56Speaker 1: media literacy course. If you're going to have influencers, talk
- 23:00Speaker 1: to a single one. And you know what is so
- 23:03Speaker 1: funny to me is this movie had the most paid
- 23:07Speaker 1: promotion I've seen from influencers of any movie. Oh interest the.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Season on Twitter during this movie there were so many
- 23:16Speaker 2: paid tweets, which I'm not mad at except hello, please
- 23:19Speaker 2: call us.
- 23:21Speaker 1: But they're using influencers.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Obviously the promotion team and the writing team are two
- 23:27Speaker 2: different people. But yes, he would have known what a
- 23:30Speaker 2: brand influencer is.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Right, are you ready? Did you see that? Yes? Would
- 23:36Speaker 1: you like to go first? Sure? This one's just a
- 23:38Speaker 1: complaint snow cones at a winter carnival. I don't get it.
- 23:42Speaker 1: And then they're like, it's tradition, snow cones, snow cones. Okay,
- 23:48Speaker 1: does does take a single note? Or is his article
- 23:50Speaker 1: going to be all pictures? Okay, yes, when he interviews
- 23:54Speaker 1: like the gal that had grew up there and she's like,
- 23:57Speaker 1: my name is this and this, and like I thought
- 23:59Speaker 1: she had very important, like meaningful things to say. He
- 24:03Speaker 1: didn't take one note, even like holding up his phone
- 24:05Speaker 1: and pretending to be recording it. Did he catch her name?
- 24:08Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 24:09Speaker 2: It's like when a waiter at a restaurant takes an
- 24:11Speaker 2: entire table's order without writing it down.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yes, you're gonna get something wrong. She stresses me out.
- 24:16Speaker 1: And you can't quote someone if you don't know what
- 24:18Speaker 1: they said. Mm hm. And also did you hear that
- 24:20Speaker 1: they used hey Mary instead of hey Siri? No, I didn't. Oh,
- 24:25Speaker 1: your phone's reacting to you. There is one point where
- 24:28Speaker 1: she jumps on an ig live and Instagram live and
- 24:31Speaker 1: she's talking about like promoting the carnival and family fun.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And I did think it was kind of clever how
- 24:36Speaker 1: they showed it from the perspective of her holding up
- 24:39Speaker 1: her phone and talking and showed the phone, and then
- 24:40Speaker 1: they showed the phone, which it was not. I mean,
- 24:42Speaker 1: obviously it's a playback. It wasn't like a live and
- 24:45Speaker 1: actual live recording of her recording that. Yeah, you know,
- 24:48Speaker 1: what I mean. The thing that bothered me about this
- 24:50Speaker 1: whole scene was like one or two scenes later, Des
- 24:54Speaker 1: says to her, I can't believe you got all these
- 24:56Speaker 1: people to show up from your post. And I was like,
- 24:59Speaker 1: did we see a whole influx of people come to
- 25:02Speaker 1: the carnival because she just influenced them on her Instagram
- 25:06Speaker 1: live Like, we never saw that happen, we saw her
- 25:09Speaker 1: make the video. Yeah, And then he says before we
- 25:12Speaker 1: get it, yeah, He's like, whoa your power of influence
- 25:15Speaker 1: to get all these people here. My husband's like, what
- 25:18Speaker 1: these people are coming from the big city to go
- 25:19Speaker 1: to the small town carnival? I know, like, where are
- 25:21Speaker 1: they coming from?
- 25:22Speaker 4: Right?
- 25:23Speaker 1: But yeah, I gotcha. Who'd you rate it?
- 25:26Speaker 3: Well?
- 25:26Speaker 1: I told you middle of the Road, it's two and
