Latest / Archons Corner / We Will Be Evaluating Over the Next 4-6 Weeks

- 0:00Let's make sense. Ou oh oue Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and all
- 0:20right, what's going on? Everybody? I am the one, the only,
- 0:22the w oh okay, I e doing the emergency broadcast for the Q
- 0:26and A. We're on the street. It was tough to hear. It
- 0:30was tough to hear for us too, because some people know how to talking
- 0:35to a mic, some people don't. So is what it is. So
- 0:40I have our resident PhD doctor Sheep here to talk about it with me.
- 0:45Bill stupid Yep Sheep is grumpy sheep right now. And we decided to bring
- 0:51Miss Sydney along with for the ride too. Hello, Hello, welcome to
- 0:56the Hate Zone. This is all hate, all the time network. And
- 1:00I bring with me my titular segment. Yeah, your titular segment. Nobody
- 1:06ever gets that joke, and I think it's hilarious. I'm not sure why,
- 1:08but here we are. But we wanted to go over real quick.
- 1:11There was a ton of ton of ton of questions on the Q and A,
- 1:15so just do kind of the real quick. We'll go over some stuff,
- 1:19not everything, because there were some that just I don't know if they've
- 1:23made sense or not, but they did talk. First question was on the
- 1:27band and restricted list? Is that correct? Yeah, I just want to
- 1:32make sure I'm following this correct. So the first question was asking it was
- 1:34revisions, right, yep. Somebody wanted to know if they were considering it
- 1:40using this weekend or not, and I do believe the answer was that they
- 1:44will be looking it over the next four to six weeks over the season to
- 1:48determine if any changes needed to be made. Yep, that's all they said.
- 1:53You're going to hear that phrase quite often throughout this so it was their
- 2:00It was basically the easy button that they would push all the time. Next
- 2:06question was Vault Tours. What kind of the questioning of the Vault Tours?
- 2:12Where are they going to be, what are they going to do? How
- 2:14are they going to look? And again we got the well, we're going
- 2:17to evaluate this season over the next four to six weeks. As much as
- 2:23I was expecting that, I really was hoping for for anything a teeny tiny
- 2:27bit more concrete, just because they they have already done a whole season,
- 2:30so they already should have some contacts. They also already had a game found,
- 2:35so they already should have that data. Like what what information do they
- 2:38need to do more evaluating? Well, I could see it, like,
- 2:45do you want to go back to Seattle? I didn't go the first time?
- 2:49I know, That's what I'm saying. Like, so, I think,
- 2:52like there was some that were really successful, there are some that weren't.
- 2:57I think this season was as good as it could have been an extraordinarily
- 3:02short notice. It was super duper thrown together, super duper quickly, right
- 3:09because originally they had the plan of I don't want to say expediting, but
- 3:15outsourcing to a third and that didn't happen. And I mean, sheep,
- 3:23you and I have talked. We still believe that they are going to attempt
- 3:25to outsource this to a third party again, but they kind of got to
- 3:30do it quick. Yep. So is that just a grumbling brand? Are
- 3:37you grumbling after everything we're saying? I agree, I I I don't think.
- 3:45Uh. I don't think they know what they're doing fully for vaults yet,
- 3:49so we don't get to know yep. So, And they are very
- 3:53much now in the horse or in the stable of if we don't have a
- 3:57concrete answer, we are not even going to speculate on it might have been
- 4:03something we did sorry. It might have something to do with the promises of
- 4:10last year never coming to fruition, maybe something about that. Next question up
- 4:16was Worlds for the next year, and again Worlds will be at a very
- 4:20similar time in November at the Game Center again, so kind of I guess
- 4:30we all kind of figured that, but somebody did ask that question. Next
- 4:34question up crowdfunding. Are they going to continue to crowdfund? I mean,
- 4:41even though it was only a vague yes, it was basically a yes.
- 4:44Yes. The answer is they're more than likely get a crowdfund, So from
- 4:47what I got, I was sitting in the back kind of moderating the chat
- 4:51that was going on, and it was, you know, blah blah blah.
- 4:57It was a very long winded answer. But then it was if it
- 5:00makes sense to do it again, Yes, we're going to do it again,
- 5:02right, which means they are going to do which means yes, the
- 5:05number skies will also be crowdfunded. Feelings on that one, guys, I
- 5:13don't personally hate the crowdfunding. I like seeing what I'm getting. I like
- 5:17being able to buy in bulk all at once and that way. I mean,
- 5:21the extra stuff that they're putting on top is also kind of cool being
- 5:25able to get the I know your opinions on the posters, but I don't
- 5:30like what it's doing to retail, but I don't hate the crowdfunding aspect of
- 5:34it, because we also got a very i don't want to say short,
- 5:39but a little bit different from last year. Last year they gave us kind
- 5:43of the whole like, we're going to have store Leader, We're gonna have
- 5:46store Championships at the state and those will lead into this and then that will
- 5:53lead into nationals and then that, you know, then where I have vault
- 5:57tours. None of that was mentioned, and we'll go over more that this
- 6:00week on Thursday for the episode, but they went more into their idea for
- 6:08store champ or not store championships, but surrounding local play this year, and
- 6:14according to them, to l O will so. Then there was another question
- 6:17with local stores. Next question was local stores needing required to use to the
- 6:21too l O system. The answer to that was no, but to l
- 6:27O, for whatever reason, we'll also have the ability to do Swiss,
- 6:30not that we use it in the events, right cheap. Sure you're so
- 6:43fiy today, sheep. Tone it down over there, sir, Sorry,
- 6:49focused at the moment, this one. I didn't here in this one.
- 6:55Probably dark ascension, ascension, ascension, okay, yeah, making decks be
- 7:01no longer playable for whatever reason, at whatever level, because they've earned the
- 7:05the honor to to get the heck out of all of the tournaments they're dominating.
- 7:11Oh you mean Jack, Hey, I didn't say it, you did?
- 7:15Yeah? You mean Jacques? That went two in Worlds? It didn't
- 7:20go two, did it? It went two in Worlds? It is not
- 7:24insane. It's so crazy to think that, Like, if they take into
- 7:28account what happened at Worlds versus what happened at every single Vault tour, then
- 7:31Jacques can in fact keep like winning Vault tours, taking home money and and
- 7:36getting the invites that other people aren't getting, but then not win the prize
- 7:42at world So not be ascended. I mean, novel one, what two
- 7:46vault tours with it? Three nationals? Right, right? Nationals? There
- 7:53was no money for But I mean six grand did get a sweet mat?
- 8:00How many maths did you get this year? Sheep? I got the same
- 8:05sweep mat. And also it's twin that says alliance, yes, yes,
- 8:13And then I got on sweet mats, and we'll talk about those more this
- 8:16Thursday. But I am hoping for some form of deck ascension. I do
- 8:20think it's something that needs to be considered. I do think, sheep,
- 8:24don't hurt me. Every deck that was in Worlds this year should be ascended
- 8:28to the next level. Let the game move on and move forward. That
- 8:33may be the dumbest thing ever you ever say. Why because half of those
- 8:37decks, that's the only tournament they've ever even played. I don't know if
- 8:39it's actually half, but some of those decks is basically the only tournament they've
- 8:43ever played in The deck didn't qualify for Worlds. The player did. It
- 8:48is different things going on there. That's a struggle too. I mean what
- 8:58they basically ended up saying was they haven't even decided if they're going to do
- 9:01it at all, like even though it maybe they may be considering doing it
- 9:05in a variety of ways, like they ended with if at all. And
- 9:09that's basically we're giving ourselves an out to not even address this. That's the
- 9:13feeling you got. That's not the feeling I got. Ooh, okay,
- 9:18So just reading a little body language, it's kind of what I do for
- 9:22a living more or less coming a bond star. I got the feeling that
- 9:26they are going to make an announcement similar to what I said or in that
- 9:31fashion, and you're gonna have a lot of decks that are now just dead,
- 9:35and you're gonna have a lot of think you are high. Maybe I
- 9:39am, Maybe I am? I am? I mean from the read I
- 9:46got, and now I wasn't there for the Q and A, but the
- 9:50other people I talked to, the read they got was yeah, we ain't
- 9:52gonna do nothing. That's that's kind of what I got. That's not what
- 9:58I got. I got the very uncomfortableness. Curly was stirring a little bit
- 10:05from what I could see in his chair, Meaning they have some idea of
- 10:09how they are going to do it. And I'm not saying it's going to
- 10:13happen now. It may not happen next year. But I do get the
- 10:16feeling they're going to do something, and they're going to do something that is
- 10:18going to irritate a good chunk of the community. Well that could be from
- 10:24anything they said this event. They are here. They irritated one person and
- 10:31that famous sheep. I don't actually know if I'm the No, you're not
- 10:37the only one, because literally your situation happened. I think in every tournament
- 10:41this weekend, everyone the Alliance side. I know what happened to ye,
- 10:48and I do believe also happened in the open. It happened in the art
- 10:52kind open too. It was literally the same scenario happened, but yep,
- 11:00oh needs an update. So we got into everyone contributes the storyline backstory.
- 11:07Somebody asked about how they come up with all of the art or all of
- 11:11the storyline, and so the answer was, everyone contributes, and the artwork
- 11:16informs a lot of the story. So somebody actually cares about the books and
- 11:18the lore. And then you heard a collective grumble going, this game has
- 11:22a story. I didn't know. I was like, oh, there's a
- 11:26s I knew the book without but beyond that, I didn't know anything.
- 11:30But I'm a huge fan. I love I loved all of it, the
- 11:35books, the lore, the RPG, the flavor text and all the cards.
- 11:39Like I don't I don't need to know how or why, but I
- 11:45appreciate that they do it. I did see something today from Wizard Random.
- 11:50I don't know if either of you actually have Twitter, but the noose.
- 11:56What is his name? Tribute tribute something Newsome, Gavin Newsom, no Newsom
- 12:03triangulator Newsom triangulator Newsom. So he has he's a card and on his art
- 12:11is there's an a memoriam and you have there's three characters that are enshrined on
- 12:20there and it's their card art no com Officer Palick. So if you look
- 12:24at his card art, there's an in memoriam wall and there's for three it's
- 12:31Kirby, which I think we already knew was subject to Kirby and then who
- 12:39is the two? If you reap you gain an ember between However, many
- 12:41creatures are draw and gain power thank you. But they're they're also on on
- 12:48the on the plaque, so roomor on the street as they're dead r I,
- 12:54P and drum or not. Does it just have a picture of DT
- 13:01as well? That's actually it's just not a frame. It's just not a
- 13:05frame. Just a little bit to the right. You can't make it out.
- 13:07But big thing. I think we were all wondering about a dech Ascension
- 13:13story deck customization with the reprints. What was that going to look like as
- 13:18far as what they were going to be able to do and translations, so
- 13:24on and so forth, and when is it going to be released? So
- 13:28CTP said roughly about three to four months. And I believe a price point
- 13:31was asked too, and he said under fifty dollars. So originally he's like,
- 13:37well, we don't know yet because we don't know, and then it
- 13:39was under fifty dollars, so I'm with Sydney forty nine ninety nine. Yeah,
- 13:46and then I'm not sure if it was. It wasn't right away,
- 13:48was it, or did somebody ask later on about foils? Oh, yeah,
- 13:52there it is foil cards. So it is confirmed they can do foil
- 13:54cards and maybe chin scrap oiled. I said, well, yeah, they
- 14:01can't actually do just cards, which makes sense, Like we've talked about this
- 14:07one hundred times, Like I don't understan, I still understand why you can't
- 14:09swap a card for a card. You're doing deck checks anyways, I guess
- 14:13you don't do it at just the base level. Did they do any deck
- 14:16checks besides top eight cheap? They did checks for all sixty four? Yeah,
- 14:24yeah, no, no, but I'm saying, like when you went
- 14:26to a vault tour, right and you showed up and you were playing Arkon,
- 14:30did they check your deck to make sure what they're supposed to be there?
- 14:33I never noticed them do a in game deck check or like a yeah,
- 14:41I never noticed one. I only ever got deck checked the top eight,
- 14:45oh right, top four. I And that's the only time I've ever
- 14:50seen them do deck checks is for Worlds. They did everybody and then but
- 14:56like usually it was always like after cut they would deck check. So,
- 15:01I mean, I guess if somebody really wants to cheat, they're gonna cheat.
- 15:03But whatever, I like kating, you sure do. But yeah,
- 15:11foil DEXs is something that they said they can't they have the ability to do,
- 15:16but they didn't realize there's a huge cost to it, which I understand
- 15:20that. You know, twenty sheets of foil paper is somehow twenty dollars,
- 15:26So yeah, there's going to be a cost to it. So if you
- 15:28want to foil out your foil out your favorite deck, it might be in
- 15:31one hundred dollars price range. I wouldn't surprise me at all. So one
- 15:33of the things that was significant to me was actually giving a three to four
- 15:37month time range. Yea when everything else, everything else they said was was
- 15:41there like four to six weeks, four to six weeks for like, they
- 15:45actually had a time range for when they could do this, which means to
- 15:48me that they have something in mind that is actually happening. Well four to
- 15:56six weeks, yeah, it's six to eight weeks of doing nothing, reviewing
- 16:03and considering the season. Yeah, that was four to six weeks too when
- 16:10they said they were going to review the season, they said for right,
- 16:12right. So but that's why, I mean, it's more meaningful that he
- 16:15actually gave a different timeline for this. Three to four months means that there
- 16:19was a timeline with actual thought behind it that's different than just the four to
- 16:22six weeks that they threw out for everything. Yeah, that's true, that's
- 16:27very true. I don't know their process well enough to know why it would
- 16:33take four to six weeks, I mean three to four months. Like,
- 16:38eh, maybe they have to get through printing all the gam reminders first.
- 16:44Well that's probably one of them. The other one would probably be like infrastructure
- 16:49for getting all the decks they have to reprint. But like, how do
- 16:52you order? How do you enable it? Like that seems more like a
- 16:57hot okay, so if I'm going to order it, right, and I
- 17:00want to order a deck? How to or do I put it? Do
- 17:03I put it on the Master Vault site? Do I put it on the
- 17:07key Ford You're saying they need to develop a GG branded store front because something
- 17:15probably through game Center where you got to buy everything else right now, even
- 17:21if you put it up on well, do you buy it through game Center?
- 17:26That's where you get your vault to our tickets. That's but that's it,
- 17:29like I guess, I don't know. And literally everything they sell of
- 17:33Keyford. Yeah, yeah, all all sales currently go through game Okay,
- 17:41I mean, but then there's probably like a hot you know that then has
- 17:45to check with the Master Vault to make sure you own said thing digitally sure,
- 17:51and then you know that heck, so that's going to talk to another
- 17:53website, which isn't that hard. We we we have an API for drawbeutter
- 17:59dot car words. I don't know it, just it seems like there's actually
- 18:03probably more tech on the back end. And then not only that, how
- 18:07do you so right now they're printing all the grim reminders, right the printing
- 18:11griom reminders, printing groom reminders, and then they've got to find like a
- 18:15timeline where they're able to do it right, so like cause like you can't
- 18:19go into like, well, now we're printing Ember skies, I don't stop
- 18:25stop everything. We got to print this one deck. Yeah. I don't
- 18:27know how that works functionally at all what you're saying, because like, are
- 18:33you saying what they're going to do is in two months they're going to open
- 18:36up this portal and they're going to be like, all right, if you
- 18:38want a deck reprinted, put it in here, and in two more months
- 18:42we'll shut the printers down from their current jobs to print these decks. Or
- 18:47you said printers. I think they have just the one yep, uh,
- 18:53maybe maybe they have to print mine Bug. Maybe they have to maybe mine
- 18:56Bug two is coming out and in this but I have a timeline for that.
- 19:02Are you suggesting that these deck reprints are only going to be available occasionally?
- 19:10To me, that's kind of the feel unless they have multiple printers.
- 19:14I mean, are you going to stop everything you're printing right now to print
- 19:18one deck for me, and then one deck for you, and one deck
- 19:21for Sydney and then one deck for you know what I mean? Every time?
- 19:25Every time you're done, you know, well, Okay, we're printing
- 19:27group reminders today. Hold on, there was an order we got to stop
- 19:30everything we're doing because I'm sure somebody paid us, right, So now you've
- 19:34got to load probably a completely different software into that system or connected to something
- 19:40different to then print reprints. I don't I don't think it's new software.
- 19:45That's not how print drivers work. Old software, but a different version.
- 19:49Because now you're not just importing, importing random decks, importing a deck.
- 19:55Yeah, that's just the computer you The computer needs whatever processing file they use,
- 20:00and then it just sends the print job. This is why we have
- 20:03two tech people on staff. Yeah, but they don't ever show up because
- 20:07they're like typical tech people. Well, one's like fourteen years old. I
- 20:11would finished showing yet we don't need to continue being jealous that he has more
- 20:17skills than us at fourteen. I mean, does that not make sense?
- 20:22I mean, I guess we can talk more about it on Thursday when we
- 20:26have a Southerly and a dras Corps. But I don't know, at least
- 20:33mentally. Yeah, but I don't know like that. I mean, it
- 20:37seems like you would have to stop everything you're doing, print a deck and
- 20:41then return back to it. So there's different weight for something like a reprinting
- 20:47of a deck or giving deck borders and the translations of a deck, because
- 20:49if they end up implementing the fact that you need to have a deck in
- 20:52English or in the language that the Vaultaur is being played in, they are
- 20:56putting a rules requirement on something. So they actually have to be able to
- 20:59let people print that they like. They need to make the room in their
- 21:02printing schedule for that if they're going to require it, right, And that's
- 21:07I think that's the biggest question that to me and my small walnut brain makes
- 21:11the most sense, but I could be wrong, right It just it seems
- 21:15like it's more of a tech thing than anything else. Sure, because I
- 21:21don't know. This company hates money too, so I don't let's really let's
- 21:26release a game found but then not do sealed shrug. Next question was on
- 21:34storyline events. So if you did watch the keynote, something will be coming
- 21:42up in summer for a storyline event. What that means, we have no
- 21:48idea. This company also loves surprises. I just I love the fact that
- 21:56we have something like other than like they confirmed world will be there next year,
- 22:00so nothing between here and worlds would have been absolutely depressing. But we're
- 22:06walking away with there will be a thing where I will probably see some of
- 22:10your faces again months from now. Yeah. Well no, they said it
- 22:15was a storyline event. He said it would be somewhere in the summer.
- 22:18So what June, July, August, somewhere in that timeframe. When is
- 22:22gen Con normally that first weekend in August? Right? Oh yeah, so
- 22:26probably, I mean that's that's that. At least this year was designated for
- 22:30US nationals. I don't see why that would change. So probably June or
- 22:37July would be that storyline event. But their answer to it literally was no
- 22:45comment. We don't want to. And I think this is sometimes it's such
- 22:48a just a horrible marketing strategy, I know, not getting us excited for
- 22:52it, Like why would you do that. You have nothing else for us
- 22:56to be excited for, no no event, no physical in prison event for
- 22:59us to be excited for you yet next year, and yet the one thing
- 23:00you've teased, you are giving us nothing. Right, and think about it
- 23:04this way, like they teased, like what did they call this the nightfall
- 23:10event where we've got grim reminders so we could all kind of make the assumption
- 23:17that we were getting Grimm reminders, but like, why not put out a
- 23:21placard be the first to play Grimm Reminders at our nightfall event at Key Forde
- 23:26Celebration in Roseville, Minnesota, twenty twenty three. I think you get more
- 23:33people if you put that out there, right, the fact that you're giving
- 23:37away the newest set like my only thing, Like I will give them the
- 23:41benefit benefit of the doubt every time they don't communicate something in that maybe at
- 23:45the time at which they are communicating, they don't have all the issues ironed
- 23:49out. And it stinks if that is a com like a repeating problem that
- 23:55is causing them to not do all of this advertising, because this is their
- 24:00to not give all the information for something until it is too late to either
- 24:03acquire or be at that something. And it's it's really really cool for the
- 24:08people that either jumped in blindly or lucked out and got it. Well.
- 24:14Theirm last year was let's get everybody excited for this thing that's not gonna happen.
- 24:18Yeah, and then I think this here, they're like, let's maybe
- 24:22not say anything until we know. Also maybe a maybe a consequence of all
- 24:29the shit we gave them for how long? I don't know. Yeah,
- 24:32I blame you guys for everything. I would it's probably our fault. But
- 24:37like it's just it's one of those things where it's like this is a perfect
- 24:41opportunity to really market it out there, get us excited for something. I
- 24:47mean it is what probably six to ten months away mm hmm, but like
- 24:52put it out there. You know there's gonna be a storyline event. We
- 24:56know it's gonna be. Where is it going to be? We don't want
- 25:00say. When is it going to be? We don't want to say.
- 25:04And for a lot of us, it's like I have to get PTO approved.
- 25:07I have to. You know, there's there's more to it than just
- 25:11being able to hop on a plane and go. You know, a lot
- 25:15of us have children that we have to figure out plans for them, if
- 25:18you play key forder teachers, so the summer just was was enough for them.
- 25:25But then on the same note, like some of us aren't teachers,
- 25:27so we got to get approved, right I Like, you're like a lot
- 25:33of them are teachers. It's literally Z and he's not a teacher anymore,
- 25:37is he? I don't know. And uh and Jr. Who else is
- 25:41a teacher? I think that's just like everyone who plays as a teacher.
- 25:45You know, Tobins. Tobin's a teacher. Yes, yeah, second second
- 25:49acts a teacher. So out of the one hundred and seventy people, three
- 25:59god what judge, judge you guys a teacher? G or market now Duncan,
- 26:07Yeah, Duncan is a teacher. There there are a lot of teachers
- 26:11in Key Forge. Sounds like our next marketing opportunity. But I just it's
- 26:17like it's we talk about marketing and well we asked a question on that or
- 26:21later, but like it's like this is the perfect time to get us excited
- 26:23to see something in the future, make us, you know, maybe buy
- 26:27a few extra things and just crickets crickets. Uh. Then we talked about
- 26:40Vault tours, more Vault tours overseas. They definitely said that there will be
- 26:45given more time to do it. Now a go ahead, cheep a.
- 26:52You know, they tried to outsource them last year. They found two people
- 26:56willing to do it. They're gonna try to outsource them again this year.
- 26:59I do expect the information and opportunity to be put out there sooner than it
- 27:06was last year. But I don't know did they get that much more uptake
- 27:11than they have now? I just don't know. Could be time could have
- 27:18Time could have been a huge factor where people might have been willing to take
- 27:22them up on whatever they're like whatever like restrictions they needed to meet. But
- 27:26we're able, like weren't able to like get a facility in time or well
- 27:33time, time is what gig can offer them. So right, it's it's
- 27:37a money thing, like it's one hundred percent of money thing. Sure,
- 27:41it's got to be right. And you unfortunately, with the two formats,
- 27:47you've given two people to oh, yeah, make money, neither of those
- 27:52actually do right. Besides for the entry fee, I don't know what kind
- 27:57of anything they would get from the keys. I can't imagine you're, like
- 28:03there's any monetary value to the person running it off of the keys that are
- 28:07being spent. I mean, I guess as time passes, people are going
- 28:11to use up amber shards unless you are because of what is it fifty shards
- 28:15for key and so like, after a while, fifty fifties adds up.
- 28:25Well, you're tough. How many shards you got a little over, little
- 28:30little north of four grand. Sure that sounds accurate. Yeah, my god,
- 28:34I'm like the six hundred something. Oh I have something even scanning she
- 28:44does it. She's not all the sleepers just hanging out in her house.
- 28:48So they're not. I'm I'm now at thirty five Okay, I'm at like
- 28:53thirty four eighty six. So I mean those MM days were real, real
- 29:00good to the ambershards, and there may have been a lot botting, but
- 29:07I mean, I don't think either way. I don't think that's a big
- 29:11factor for the tournament organizer to get anything out of it. There's no The
- 29:15tournament organizer gets absolutely nothing from that key, right, So that's what I'm
- 29:18saying. There's nothing there for him. So outside of the seventy five dollars
- 29:22that they would charge for your entry, I guess you could try to sell
- 29:26product, but there's no reason to like that was the big thing about sealed
- 29:32is you're able to make money off of sealed, But I don't do do
- 29:37you do the seventy five plus because it used to just what was it just?
- 29:41Oh what happened here? Huh? That was strange? That was totally
- 29:57weird. Did it just kick everyone. Yes, I think sheep pushed a
- 30:02button. I'm pretty sure he just ended the stage. He's like, I'm
- 30:07done with this, I'm getting out of here. Maybe we'll see if he
- 30:08comes back. But I don't think, I mean monetarily, what did it
- 30:12used to be for? It was a forty dollars for entry for sealed event
- 30:18six. It depends because some of them were at conventions and we were able
- 30:22to like they would. I mean the price is like literally varied, and
- 30:27it was different most events you went to, because like origins was a like
- 30:32what like a sixty dollars to get in because you had to buy the badge
- 30:34with it right right like when Yetti was running it, Yet he always did
- 30:38it separate from everything else, not today typically Actually did Yedi run it with
- 30:45any conventions? Did you push? I have no idea what button that push,
- 30:52but I'm back. Yeah, it totally booted all of us. It
- 30:55was the weirdest I've never seen Discord do that and all the time we've been
- 31:00using it, but that was strange. It on me. My hands are
- 31:04literally on my desk and touching no buttons. So yeah, I don't think
- 31:12YETI ever did anything in association with a con because they came in after gen
- 31:18Con, so there was no cons to run. There was no cons running.
- 31:22Yeah, I remember the ones I went to with them were run by
- 31:26them. Conventions. Yeah, I'm trying to think, like I can't actually
- 31:32can actually come up with one, but I did, like I do remember
- 31:34going to them at conventions like the Origins and gen Con and the one in
- 31:40Schomberg. Yeah, Schomberg. And well, yeah, that's what I'm saying,
- 31:47Like all the ones that I remember were before them. Yeah, that
- 31:49was all. I don't even remember who that company was anymore. But so
- 31:57it's like, you gotta, Mike, I don't know, got a pony
- 32:01up the dough there a little bit, give them a little bit of sealed
- 32:05so they can try to recoup some money. Got my My favorite thing that
- 32:07they had was a keyfordge vending machine, and I gave way too much money
- 32:12to that vending machine because the idea of getting a key Forge deck out of
- 32:14a vending machine was so awesome that the FFG vending machine at gen Con that
- 32:19was kind of cool. Too bad, it was all Ala didn't even twitch
- 32:25me in the slightest way to say, give them money. Because they put
- 32:29it in a silly vending machine. It feels so like I'm just gonna get
- 32:34a bag of chips. I'm just gonna get a drink and I'll get a
- 32:37KeyForge deck. They should have put chips and such in there. Kuld have
- 32:42been like, Oh, I'm here already, I might as well something to
- 32:45go with my chips and my PEPSI and grab a keyboarde deck while I'm at
- 32:49it. But that was basically that power Creep. There was a little talk
- 32:53about power Creep because a lot of people think Reminders is busted. Maybe I
- 33:00don't know, do you guys feel it's busted. Nope, I don't think
- 33:05it's busted, But I don't know. It probably wasn't a slip he Michael
- 33:08probably said this like with clear intention of saying it, but it felt like
- 33:12a slip to me where he says he specifically said he doesn't think or Reminders
- 33:15is more competitive than previous sets. But he said that, and so I
- 33:19don't know whether it was to quell the actual question about power Creep or if
- 33:22he literally doesn't think it's more competitive, Like like, as someone who plays
- 33:29competitively, I feel like that doesn't that doesn't necessarily draw me to the set
- 33:38in a way that where people are afraid of power creep. I'm all for
- 33:44power creep. Creepier the better. But like I think his exact words on
- 33:50that one, where you're correct, he didn't feel like it was more competitive,
- 33:53but it was designed because the old design for all previous sets was get
- 33:59through your deck as fast as possible, where the design of Grim Reminders was
- 34:02to get haunted and stay haunted, and that was the set design. Now
- 34:10whether that ends up being more powerful or not, I don't know, we'll
- 34:15see. I mean, definitely the guys stares definitely feel feel strong. But
- 34:21I just feel like somebody in MM is going to like put out an auto
- 34:24encoder and have in furnaces in their deck and uh gig, it's possible.
- 34:31I don't know. There is a little bit of uh. I almost called
- 34:37it exile and Sheep was gonna get yell at me. Uh perge recursion in
- 34:40there a little bit, a little bit, not a ton, but a
- 34:43little bit. I maybe, I mean, some some of that stuff flips
- 34:51and archives you so fast it may not matter they have in furnace. That's
- 34:54true because there were times I was flipping my deck so quick, you know,
- 34:58before you know it, I'm boo wing to flip my duck to get
- 35:00back to cards. Average value of some of those pipped cards is so high
- 35:06that go ahead and urge it. I got more value than your one in
- 35:12furnace pip loss out of the card and it doesn't matter. Sure that that's
- 35:19that's maybe what happens. I don't know. Next question up was if you
- 35:23were given more people, and you were in the ability to hire more people,
- 35:29where would you Where would you put them? His answer was literally everywhere.
- 35:35But I think he finally settled on graphic design. So they like I
- 35:39think you said they're using vector imaging bitmapp to vector. I thought you guys
- 35:45said, yeah, yeah, they're all using imager. I don't know why.
- 35:52Uh, I'm pretty good at MS paint. I mean, I think
- 35:58the silver lining is the fact that he would put more resources towards graphic design.
- 36:02And I already actually really like the graphic design means that like, whatever
- 36:06they're currently doing is is good enough for me, and whatever struggles they're having
- 36:10behind the scenes are not showing. I think the struggle is that it's I
- 36:15mean, digital assets, especially new ones take a long time to do.
- 36:20They just do no matter what way you slice it. Sure, and you
- 36:25know, we've heard Josh talk about it, you know, working with such
- 36:29and such to get digital assets, so on and so forth. It's just
- 36:34digital assets and anything in graphic design is always a pain and it always takes
- 36:38forever. I don't know why. It's twenty twenty three. You think we'd
- 36:43be further along than we are, but we're not. And it's just it
- 36:45always takes forever. So I understood that, at least. I don't know
- 36:50why they went from bitmapping to vector as far as I understand it now,
- 36:54I'm not a graphic designer in any which way you can slice anything, I
- 36:59don't know much about it. But I always thought bitmap went faster than vector
- 37:04imaging, and we never had a problem before really with the images. So
- 37:09why go from bitmap to vector? Because as far as again, as far
- 37:13as I knew, vector would take longer than bitmap does, doesn't. Vector
- 37:19has something to do with it was more high fidelity. I think it probably
- 37:24print renders faster because I know I could only send vector to any of my
- 37:30print related places like you send him anything else and they're like, it's vector
- 37:36and Josh is saying something about scalability. Oh yeah, they did mentioned that
- 37:39on stage, where like if they wanted to make it bigger, it actually
- 37:43looked real bad. Yeah. Well if it's in bitmapping, so you have
- 37:47to That's why they had to change the map to vector to scale it.
- 37:51But okay again, I you're off control control, Photoshop take care of it
- 38:06for you. Rasterize the layer and you're done. All right, Digital Client.
- 38:10It will not be coming to a store near you. Maps are rasterized,
- 38:16thank you. TCO is still an avail is available to you and CTP
- 38:22loves them. Yeah. As far as free work, yeah, so there's
- 38:29aspiration, aspirations, but not a lot of ass going on, a lot
- 38:36of ass. Yeah, that was that was like straight up denied and I
- 38:38I liked that he specifically talked about TCO, Like didn't even because the way
- 38:45the question was asked, didn't mention it said digital Client, And then the
- 38:50way that the answer was said, like he straight up said the Crucible online.
- 38:52There was no hiding how much you appreciated that that exists. Just play
- 38:57on t c O. Yeah right. Uh. Their next question was out
- 39:01of the freaking drazz Corps. I give him a list of questions and leave
- 39:06it to him to go off the off the charts his next draz cors and
- 39:10I'm gonna blame this one on him. Is what Menagerie packets didn't make it
- 39:15to Fruishing somehow has to Raptor. Raptor made it, and did play rets
- 39:23make it? Yes, I didn't see any plays stupid exploiters and the anomaly
- 39:31exploitters precision exploiters. I also don't know who decided that shadows weapons was a
- 39:38good idea. Hey, that's a fun one. It is not because you're
- 39:45bad at this game. It's all artifacts, Sheep. It's all artifacts,
- 39:50all of it, timable artifacts to kill creatures effectively when you need it most.
- 39:54But but then you have no creatures to do. They think with Sheep.
- 40:00I like the key Frog one because it brings in, like at Maverickson,
- 40:05a ton of things that can kill key Frog on turn. But one
- 40:09of the packets that did not make it Jar Google. Don't know what would
- 40:14have been a jar Google package headache, that's what would have been. It
- 40:19would have been Sydney's allion stack. Yes, exactly the thing that ruled against
- 40:23me at Philadelphia because a judge call went a different way than what I thought
- 40:28it something to confuse new players. Totally confusing new players is the best,
- 40:32all right. There was something about new prizes, prizes or was that for
- 40:36the kids? No new prizes to reveal. That's something that surprised me.
- 40:39They had nothing new to reveal, even though what was asked is like along
- 40:45the lines of what you're going to send out, what's going to be available,
- 40:49and so basically we can expect to see what so far, we can
- 40:52expect to see what we've already seen, so nothing outside of what's been Those
- 40:59backpacks were pretty sweet. I enjoy the I know it's a stupid string backpack,
- 41:05but I was like, this is kind of cool. I enjoy this.
- 41:08How long I enjoy it for is another story, but I enjoyed it
- 41:12at least for the time being. I wouldn't have believed him if they said
- 41:16there was a chair. The chair that one guy who is like, yeah,
- 41:22I was supposed to get a chair, Uh yeah, give me a
- 41:24CDPs like just go across the way. It was literally across the street.
- 41:30I'm like, weird. I also did not is it a question asked later
- 41:36about the prize wall or was it during this question. I think it was
- 41:40during this question. Yes, I do think it was during this question because
- 41:44we we got the prize wall back. Josh did a good job of putting
- 41:50something together for people to spend their their tickets on that we got. Yeah,
- 41:53I thought it was pretty successful. I really loved it. It was
- 41:58actually something aspirational to do the whole time. Like literally, if you were
- 42:02one or two tickets short, you just went to play one or two more
- 42:06games to get those tickets, right or What was also really nice is people
- 42:09because it was physical and in our hand, unlike when people have like there
- 42:14are a couple of amber shards in the app short and they can't give it
- 42:17to someone else or or share it with someone else, and the old prize
- 42:21wall, like I was able to give Blake one of my tickets so that
- 42:23he could get a prize that he had been working towards the whole time.
- 42:27It was I really really liked it. Yeah, that was nice, So
- 42:35I'm not going to go through that one. It was basically a question on
- 42:39how how they determine what houses come in what houses leave, and it was
- 42:45basically synergies there will be four sets in a row with a new house geistoy
- 42:52geistoyable equedon, and then it's just that rate of oh hey, her,
- 43:08guys, we're just talking about how this is all your fault and your dumb
- 43:14question through jar Google. Oh yeah, that was a great question. That
- 43:20was a horrible question. I give you a list of questions and you're like,
- 43:22hey, well pack it didn't make it. Well hold on, and
- 43:24actually you didn't give me a list of questions. They were they were sent
- 43:28to you into the doc. Nope, nope, nope, nope, as
- 43:30he had to share them with me, and then you were like, that's
- 43:32not the right list. And so I'm like, well, this is the
- 43:35list I got. Yeah, I don't know what list sounds about as professional
- 43:38as you guys get hitting journalism. So so then I went and added some
- 43:45questions, some some from our lovely audience posting online, some genius questions that
- 43:51I came up with myself. He was a little sleep deprived, Yeah,
- 43:59all of it. There was there was some lagging of the jet. This
- 44:01is true. This is true. I definitely well by Sunday night, I
- 44:07was fine, but definitely on Friday I was. It was pretty out of
- 44:12it Sunday. I took a five hour nap in the car. Oh it
- 44:17was good five hours. But foiled cards. Another question was asked, they're
- 44:28gonna be foiled cards. We kind of went through it already. It'll be
- 44:30foiled decks if there are foiled decks. Something I am excited for is foiled
- 44:36decks. I really hope they don't cost me a million dollars, but if
- 44:40they do, maybe I do it. Maybe that was pretty cool that they
- 44:45said that that was a thing that they could do. Now. They didn't
- 44:49say they will do it, but they said they could to know they can
- 44:53do it. And then he's like, maybe that's something we offer when we
- 44:58do deck re when we do the deck and things, and I was like,
- 45:01yes please. I stood up in the back. I was like,
- 45:05oh, oils. I mean it's going to turn that forty nine ninety.
- 45:07Like, if you need to like reprint a deck, you want to give
- 45:10it a border or make it foil, and you need it translated, that's
- 45:14like a three hundred dollars transaction right there. Well, the translation would probably
- 45:17be the most expensive, would be my assumption. I would think, because
- 45:22if it's in the rules that they would be requiring of it. It might
- 45:24be the least, but it's the most expensive thing to do. I'm gonna
- 45:31ask for mine to be translated into pig Latin. Fantastic. I'm sure there
- 45:37won't. I'm one hundred percent sure there won't be a drop down and they're
- 45:40going to allow you to just type in what would you want it? Come
- 45:44on, come on, I'm gonna I'm gonna ping sky Jedi. I'd be
- 45:46like, dude, that's what we need. Check this out. Think about
- 45:51it. Some of those cards with texts that like are like a block of
- 45:55texts. You got to get the language that's the longest possible language. Mmmm.
- 46:02Yeah, that definitely won't be a pain in the asset Vault tours,
- 46:07not one bit. All right, Future of the Master Vault. Uh,
- 46:12small fixes and then normal upkeep. I don't really understand what the question was.
- 46:16When they were saying what was the somebody asked what else they were going
- 46:20to do with it? Like what they're working on? What we should look
- 46:22forward to, and uh, basically like what what how they how they plan
- 46:28on like expanding in the future. And he said, like, right now,
- 46:31we're just we're we're fixing small bugs and we're doing normal upkeep, and
- 46:36so we're making it so that it was not as like so behind the scenes
- 46:40stuff like they're focused right now is behind the scenes normal features, Yeah,
- 46:45upkeep. I don't really know what we were hoping for more out of the
- 46:47Master Vault, anybody got me there? My thought with what that question search
- 47:00quality, search like deck management features right, like, But but honestly,
- 47:06d OK does so much right now that I don't know that they're incentivized to
- 47:12go and do a huge amount. I think one thing that they also mentioned
- 47:17this in the keynote earlier, but part of what used to be available to
- 47:22us in the app was like events, like we used to be able to
- 47:27find yeah played, Yeah, I don't know one of the I used to
- 47:35one of the things that they've been hinting about, right like, yeah,
- 47:38Josh had previously hinted about that. Now that question wasn't directly answer asked in
- 47:45the Q and A. There wasn't a question about will there be an app
- 47:49again? Yeah, And the answer was basically no, like right, because
- 47:54that's fine. Yeah, there's a lot of duplicate development or you have to
- 48:00use one of the programs that you know, generate a crappy version of multiple
- 48:04things right, which which can work. But so I think it totally makes
- 48:08sense to say, hey, we're a small company, just just do web
- 48:14even even if it's not if it's not perfect, to do that. Ah,
- 48:22this one confused me. I was actually talking to Jason about this one.
- 48:24I was like, what is this? What does this mean? Somebody
- 48:28asked a question about procedurally generated multi color backs so the back of your art
- 48:34con card. I was so confused. Like when it was asked, I
- 48:38was like, are you looking for like being able to pick three colors that
- 48:43are mixed? Are you looking for a rainbow? Are you looking for like?
- 48:45I I was absolutely I was. I just when that was asked,
- 48:50I look at Jason was what does that mean? He's like, I don't
- 48:52know. Isn't it already it's already procedurally generated? Like what what is the
- 48:58what? What was more? What more do you want more than one color?
- 49:04Just color? A great I thought it was hilarious that almost every single
- 49:09member of the like everybody, every single person sitting on stage, had to
- 49:13answer this question, and that like CTP was just like yeah, sure,
- 49:17yeah, and you saw everyone else you saw four disgusts in one go.
- 49:25I guess we could do that everyone else just but no, I guess there's
- 49:31seven possible colors. I never cared enough to add them up, but I
- 49:37guess there's seven possible colors right now. You don't see the back of your
- 49:42cards anyways, like ever, especially not in high level play, anything other
- 49:49than you know, ridiculously easy. The value I don't think is there,
- 49:55you know, across the game to do that. You know, obviously this
- 50:00one person thought it was cool enough to ask the question, But hey,
- 50:05if they're prioritizing things, I doubt this. You want to know, what
- 50:08if you gave me cards with no arts on them and the backs were just
- 50:13white, I'd go all to one. No, that's lame, That's it's
- 50:19just you don't do you really look at the back of your cards ever and
- 50:22be like, oh, that's cool, like maybe once, Hey, if
- 50:25they made pink ones, I would go for pink ones. That's fine.
- 50:29Let's just put the key Forge logo on the back of Call of to Day.
- 50:30Everything has the same back. No, now, why, Wookie,
- 50:37I'll go fire you? Why why? This is one of the coolest things
- 50:42already doing something cool and do you want to take it away. I notice,
- 50:46outside of actual competitive bags, I don't sleep a damn thing because it's
- 50:51fun having like those banounerie decks look cool. It's because it's fun watching people
- 50:57cringe as they look at you. Like to like shuffle and and nicking sides.
- 51:02And I'll tell you what, just rush shuffling stuff and people being like,
- 51:07oh, I don't know. The back of the car doesn't mean as
- 51:13much to me as I guess it does to you guys, So we'll keep
- 51:15We'll keep the backs for now. I suppose here's the market there don't mean
- 51:21much to you either. Huh. The front of the cars don't mean much
- 51:23to you either. No, they just need to be good. Stop giving
- 51:27me all the crappy ones. I do like pester Grove is your fault,
- 51:37Yeah, problem, listen to you. I like cards that make my opponent's
- 51:44life bad. That's why the curses are here. Oh man, there's pester
- 51:47Grove. Pack and Menagerie is no but pester Grove. I believe in grim
- 51:52reminders. Is it really along with dark Heart of the Forest? No,
- 51:59which does what Heart of the fort? It's a worse heart of the forest.
- 52:00It does what heart of the Forest does, but only when you're haunted.
- 52:05Uh So there's that all right. So mister Ewok finally came up and
- 52:10asked his marketing question. I was actually surprised this wasn't his first question,
- 52:15but basically asking what is the strategies going to be going forward in marketing?
- 52:24This is the one answer I felt like it wasn't an acceptable answer. This
- 52:29is the one area where I felt like this type of marketing doesn't work.
- 52:34So it was very it's targeted marketing on things like Facebook, going to Gamma
- 52:40and gen Con, trying to get more lapsed players and getting into the game.
- 52:50Because when he was talking about it during the keynote earlier, like the
- 52:52what what CTP said when he was giving his presentation had to do a lot
- 52:58with wanting to become reliable so that people actually start trusting them. So after
- 53:01a year of having sets come out on a regular schedule, actually having and
- 53:07running events, having this World's event, having over a year of a history,
- 53:12like a lot of things, like literally a lot of things in life,
- 53:15take into account how long you've been running something. Well, and I
- 53:19drink the kool aid when he said that, because that actually makes so much
- 53:21sense to me that that's something they can present to whatever or whoever they're trying
- 53:25to present a backstory to about why you should carry or buy or play Key
- 53:31Ford. And I think the problem there is that's that's all fine and dandy,
- 53:36but you're not distributing your product, yeah, a distributing your product outside
- 53:44of the game, if they bother. Right, So, so I think
- 53:47part of what Sydney's getting at, which I think is interesting. And so
- 53:52if I if I put on my you know, business or corporate whatever had
- 53:55for a moment, so Citi's referring to some thing that actually was kind of
- 54:01an answer to the question, whereas unfortunately, Jeremy, you you said a
- 54:07bunch of things, but that didn't really answer the question. You named a
- 54:10bunch of activities as opposed to talk to the strategy. Right, those activities
- 54:15may well be good, hopefully, but but I do think e Walk was
- 54:21in particular poking at strategy because it's a question of, okay, what are
- 54:25the principles, what are the the main tenets of the things you're going to
- 54:30try to follow, and then you're gonna the various individual actions, right,
- 54:34can can change over time based on what you learn based on what does or
- 54:37doesn't work. Now, I want to say one thing because Jeremy Ewok did
- 54:44not use the word strategy, and I know he did not, and that
- 54:49was the one thing where I kind of wanted to poke him, and I
- 54:52wasn't close enough to do it. What it be, like, Hey,
- 54:54you need to talk about what is their strategy? Well? What did he
- 54:58say? Because I definitely felt like the answer was so so as it was
- 55:02coming out right, because for his question, it was still a so so
- 55:07answer right because it was like, how are you going? How are you
- 55:12going to market you know, the game being back and get it into retail
- 55:16stores and get you know, get the hype back up, so on and
- 55:21so forth. But he never actually used the word strategy, and I'm like,
- 55:25you need to add because that's an important thought. I thought he did,
- 55:29or maybe maybe I was just reading what we have in our notes,
- 55:31which seems the word strategy, so I thought he said it. Maybe that's
- 55:35possible because that word with him in the car ride of like you need and
- 55:39I told him specifically and maybe he did, but I remember him not using
- 55:45it. I was like, you have to use the word strategy because otherwise
- 55:49we have nine members in our audience. Everybody tell us, did e wok
- 55:52say strategy? You're not. We'll find out, but go ahead and keep
- 55:59going. But but AnyWho, So, so I think I think sid he's
- 56:01getting at part of it there there, What is the strategy? I think
- 56:04part one is what you just said, right, It's it's the uh trying
- 56:10to build that confidence, try to build that track record. Right. So
- 56:16that's strategy is saying, hey, that you can trust this now now you
- 56:21know, let's get away from Hey, have they accomplished this so far or
- 56:24not? But AnyWho, that could be part of their strategy. And that
- 56:28makes some sense, I think, And and it is a little tricky,
- 56:30right because like, honestly, what was underneath I think a bit of what
- 56:37Jeremy was saying was that part of their strategy is to not spend that much
- 56:43money on marketing, right, and that that was okay. So so so
- 56:51now maybe you feel like, hey, I shouldn't use those words in front
- 56:52of these groups of folks. And and i'd have, I guess if I
- 56:59would had, if I of a Burgig, I'd have to think about it
- 57:00if I actually wanted to say it that way. But but it's probably a
- 57:05correct strategy for them, right, because you can burn a lot of money
- 57:09on marketing. You've got to really figure out what what would work first.
- 57:15Right now, we've given a lot of suggestions on the show of some other
- 57:20ways they might be able, some avenues they might be able to go after.
- 57:22I haven't really looked up how much these might actually cost, right.
- 57:25We don't know how much William Defoe wants, but yeah, or what the
- 57:35pe hub charges these days, we don't know, right, But but you
- 57:37know, these are some interesting suggestions, right, Uh, you know,
- 57:40half joke, half you're not following a well no, you know in terms
- 57:45of uh, in terms of hey, where where is your audience at or
- 57:50where's your potential audience and what are they doing? Right? She? I
- 57:52think you mentioned the you know, the di y home improvement YouTube stuff,
- 57:59right, like that actually might be the perfect place, right. I don't
- 58:01know how much that costs truly, but hey, you could maybe try in
- 58:06small amounts and see if that works. So you could through some of these
- 58:09other mechanisms still hold to that strategy of hey, I don't want to spend
- 58:14that much money here, so I don't know, like they're there, uh,
- 58:20would have been like, every time we talked to them, there's no
- 58:22budget for it, Well, it's not where right, and and there's no
- 58:28but there's no budget for OP. There's no budget for marketing. Well,
- 58:31the budget is they hired a marketing guy, and they hired an OP guy,
- 58:39and now they have to eat. They have to live somewhere, and
- 58:44uh, you know, they broke out of the cages that CTP had to
- 58:47been in the in the in the offices, and so they actually have to
- 58:51have to live somewhere, right, So the uh so, I mean humans
- 59:00not cheap to employ. So so you know, their revenue is, you
- 59:06know, not yet what they dream of it being. So they do have
- 59:08to be a little cautious. But I would have liked to have heard it,
- 59:14heard them say here's the high level things we're trying to do, and
- 59:17then hey, here's some examples where you know, hey, some of those
- 59:22things Jeremy mentioned could be examples of those things. I think that would have
- 59:25that would have driven a lot more confidence for me, as opposed to what
- 59:30I took away was more of like, well, we're trying lots of cheap
- 59:34things that probably won't work, right, That's what I heard I don't know.
- 59:38I wasn't expressly stated that way, but like, yeah, going to
- 59:45I don't know how much traffic and revenue. It felt like a summary to
- 59:52me, because if you think about it, he said, going to Gamma
- 59:54to talk to retailers, retailers, check doing Facebook page for retailers, and
- 1:00:01then continuing to reach out to new LAPS players. And then I was talking.
- 1:00:06One of them was about distributors. Meant, oh, Gamma maybe also
- 1:00:09they mentioned distributors. They were checking off a list of all the different people
- 1:00:14or the categories of people that it's important to get the word out about Keythforge
- 1:00:19two. So that was it was more like a checklist than anything else.
- 1:00:22And again use that word lapse player. I think it's like, Okay,
- 1:00:27we've moved on. Get some fresh blood in here, like their laps their
- 1:00:31laps for a reason, they're not checking their email from Ghost Galaxy, right
- 1:00:36Like, we need to get some fresh blood in here. So you need
- 1:00:38to get people excited to move forward and get new people into this game moving
- 1:00:44forward, as opposed to continuing to try to cater to a group that has
- 1:00:50left your game once already. What they're secretly meaning by LAPS player isn't the
- 1:00:53person who independently came to a game store and will now start coming to a
- 1:00:58game store again. Lapsed player is the person who is the best friend of
- 1:01:01the person who still plays and doesn't play anymore. And if they can get
- 1:01:06that person to come back, then they have a person that they know that's
- 1:01:09already playing. And it's just a short hop, skip and a jump and
- 1:01:13not like a leap across a pond. So lapsed player is definitely a I
- 1:01:19think they're trying to reach the easier to get LAPS players and not necessarily dive
- 1:01:22deep into the people that have way given up on the I want to know
- 1:01:25this list the lapsed players is? Is there a list somewhere I can get?
- 1:01:30Well, they should have it, right, they have the master vault,
- 1:01:31right, I can list you some podcasts that no longer exist. So
- 1:01:38I think what they should do is right. Jeremy's their marketing guy, right,
- 1:01:44so he is their marketing budget. He should just you know, dress
- 1:01:49in black, sneak into game stores, open the Larkana decks, dove shove
- 1:01:55a KeyForge deck inside, and then use the patented r cons corners resealing glue
- 1:02:04there's no budget for there's no budget. Clue. I think you missed that
- 1:02:08there's no budget for the resealing glue. So we'll we've got palettes, so
- 1:02:14we'll we'll giveunt yep, yep. It's so profitable for the l c Q,
- 1:02:20right, mm hmmm, hmmm, ye oh yeah. I pulled no
- 1:02:28fire, no one, and then so that was the Then we went into
- 1:02:35uh keys being required for new players, which I don't I don't know if
- 1:02:40this was a international player that asked the question, yes, and I don't
- 1:02:45think they understood quite what they meant, like there's no for everything like vault
- 1:02:51to our nationals and lower there's no key requirement. I think premiers are the
- 1:02:55or the premiere above, right. Yeah, So I don't know if that
- 1:03:02was quite understood or if that even what was the question was. But I
- 1:03:08do think there was a bigger portion. And we're running out of time here
- 1:03:12because people got to go. But there was a good not so much question
- 1:03:19but statement on the I liked it. I like the head. I thought
- 1:03:25it was very good. I don't know the player that said it, so
- 1:03:29if any of you do, let me know. But basically, the fact
- 1:03:32of hidden brackets two l os. The worst thing you can do to a
- 1:03:39new player that comes to a major event is tell them after two losses they're
- 1:03:45no longer able to play hidden brackets. Things are getting broken, and just
- 1:03:52ultimately a system that doesn't work for this game. Now they might iron out
- 1:03:57a few more things, but ultimately a system that just doesn't end up working.
- 1:04:01Can I like shut that down? Because if you are a local store
- 1:04:06and on your regular weekly events you have some new players, don't do too
- 1:04:12low like play what we do at our store, Like we pick our opponent
- 1:04:17we haven't played yet. We like we aren't in any system to currently play
- 1:04:21with our six people like I I just they even said earlier in the in
- 1:04:26the questions that you don't need too low for but I think more of it
- 1:04:30was focused on on the higher end event, right because if I'm a new
- 1:04:34player, I mean, let's be honest, we've all been in that position
- 1:04:38where we're like, we're good at this game, and then we go to
- 1:04:41our we go we go to a we spend a lot of money to go
- 1:04:45to a high level event, a permire event. Right we get Rockel stomped.
- 1:04:50And right now, with the current system, you two losses, you're
- 1:04:55done, you're hitting the bricks, right. So if that were exists,
- 1:05:01this does exist a big of a problem. It's only a problem because people
- 1:05:08are making it a problem. I think it is a problem. It's just
- 1:05:12you just go I'm playing Second Amber now, and they go, okay,
- 1:05:15go play right there. I think it would be nice for them to get
- 1:05:19Second Amber finally built into play style, so you just find your match just
- 1:05:26like you do for every other game, and then you almost wouldn't even know
- 1:05:29you weren't in the main event because you're still playing the same people there with
- 1:05:31the same decks they brought yep, and it just doesn't matter to that main
- 1:05:36tournament. That would make it better, because then you just get moved from
- 1:05:41one bracket to the other. You're still paired with a person. You're still
- 1:05:44playing, yeah yeah, still playing on the same time slot. So you
- 1:05:46go to break at the same time and time is called and your game ends,
- 1:05:50and you're not like sitting there going like games are going on for like
- 1:05:54seventy five minutes and nobody's gonna end it for us, right right. I
- 1:05:59think the uh, you know, the Princess is not perfect. I think
- 1:06:04the suggestions that you guys just made those I think those are good suggestions.
- 1:06:08I I don't know. I did think it was interesting, right. I
- 1:06:12thought the the it was a little over the top. I thought that sort
- 1:06:16of the emphasis who's placing now? Now? You know, I do think
- 1:06:21they need to sit down and take a good, long, hard look at
- 1:06:25too LO. Right. It did what it needed to do for this season,
- 1:06:29but it could be done better. They need to fix too L and
- 1:06:33buys. Mm hmm. Well yeah, I think they promised they gave those
- 1:06:40buys out when they thought they were doing double elimination, right, So uh
- 1:06:45yeah, it is very different byes in that giant double elimination bracket works out
- 1:06:51way way different than destroying it to l O bracket. Right, So I'll
- 1:06:59give them a pass or you know, a mulligan on that because two l
- 1:07:01O is better than than This is really the Thursday show where we fire up
- 1:07:06on this. We got to finish talking about what they talked about. Yeah,
- 1:07:10now I will say the one that's the questions. Yeah, Well,
- 1:07:13the one final thing I'll say about this I thought was super interesting was right,
- 1:07:17so gg right didn't answer and like nobody had to say or do anything
- 1:07:24like everybody knew what to do, like hand the mic to the next person,
- 1:07:29pretend like the question wasn't even asked. Nobody blanked on stage, keep
- 1:07:32going right. That was interesting, right, means they all talked about this,
- 1:07:38like, hey, if we get a question like this about this,
- 1:07:43ignore did I hear they like he like covered the mic on Josh right there.
- 1:07:47Yeah, there was a question that was about OPE or vault tours and
- 1:07:53that, and like he like every the ruberupted and laughter when like he put
- 1:07:57his hand on the phone and started whispering it to jos his ear because Mike
- 1:08:00was handed to Josh. That was oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that
- 1:08:02was That was a show. I think that was a show because he watched
- 1:08:06quest. He's wearing the A C shirt, right. I thought that was
- 1:08:12more of like, hey, we know who this is. We're gonna play
- 1:08:14but he's a nice one. Yeah, I mean, that's why we put
- 1:08:16him on. Is not but that's why we the My read of that situation
- 1:08:29was that, you know, Josh was told not not to say certain things,
- 1:08:35so he looks at d TP like can I say something? And then
- 1:08:40CDB sort of whispers in his ear, no, yeah, yeah, you
- 1:08:46can't talk about X y Z. If you want to say something about ABC,
- 1:08:49go ahead that that was sort of my read and then just decided,
- 1:08:54now ABC has nothing to do with the question, So yeah, not really
- 1:08:58going to go there that. I don't know, right, but uh,
- 1:09:03that was my read. Yeah, fig it only has three bufuddles, so
- 1:09:08he's not a monster. Yeah, he's just a demon. I mean maybe
- 1:09:12maybe maybe he cycled. I don't know, And I guess it's possible not
- 1:09:17you walk style to make it all the way through a deck, but you
- 1:09:20know, in minutes, no, sir. I thought it was kind of
- 1:09:28like a four show, and I think that's why everybody laughed, because everybody
- 1:09:31knew who was up there asking the question. Yes, yeah, and then
- 1:09:34it was I thought it was kind of like a little show play around,
- 1:09:39you know thing, because it was also like the mic was confidently handed over
- 1:09:44to Josh, so like, I'm pretty sure everyone on that stage knew he
- 1:09:46could handle the question, and that's why it was funny that Christian did what
- 1:09:50he did. Yeah, So I don't know, maybe there was something more
- 1:09:56malicious there. I really didn't get that vibe. But my purse, what
- 1:10:01is it that my person meter? Whatever is not as broken. Sometimes you're
- 1:10:12talking about empathy. That's that is also something I lacked. But my you
- 1:10:15know what do you call that my person's trust meter? I don't know.
- 1:10:19I'm I'm I'm still tired. I have not slept well. I got I
- 1:10:24got an all time low TRUSTO meter going on these days. That's a Thursday
- 1:10:30show thing. But that was all for our questions that that went through.
- 1:10:35Did we miss anything anybody? I want to know if there's anything like,
- 1:10:40if is there anything you guys are super super surprised wasn't asked or anything you
- 1:10:44wanted to get to because there were a couple of things. I was surprised
- 1:10:46nobody asked why the flump. I I really wanted to know why they picked
- 1:10:50flump instead of you know anything else. I think we already we say it's
- 1:10:58because they already at it in like had already been designed FFG had already designed
- 1:11:03it. It just came in the pile of things with it. They called
- 1:11:06the company that was you know off they had like the cuts ready right,
- 1:11:13and they're like how much and they're like this much and they're like okay,
- 1:11:16let's do it, yeap. Very MINIMALI was already paid for. That's right,
- 1:11:23So not mentioned pluses as part of their marketing strategy, so probably not
- 1:11:30investing that much time there, start putting them in claw machines. Well,
- 1:11:33what are we getting at if they're not doing any new prizes are we?
- 1:11:36Are we just going to stick in this FFG prize vault where we're going to
- 1:11:41get the same four deck boxes and the same three mats we've been getting for
- 1:11:45two years. Well, my question is because the deck boxes in the mat
- 1:11:48you got for Menagerie, Like, how many brand championships did FFG think they
- 1:11:56were going to run? Good for them? For thinking a lot like they
- 1:12:01thought they're like, man, grand championships are gonna be everywhere, and there's
- 1:12:05gonna be a lot of them because they were all date stamped. They all
- 1:12:08said twenty nineteen on them. Well you gotn't think those They actually ordered quantities
- 1:12:15of op based off of CODA sales, which were very very very good,
- 1:12:24and then nothing really ran until AOA and that was not very very very good
- 1:12:30anymore. Right, I mean people were going for those things on the prize
- 1:12:34wall that like I have five copies of people were spending their tickets to get
- 1:12:40those things. I was literally like, I'm like, I don't care about
- 1:12:43this ticket. You may have it like win loser draw, It does not
- 1:12:46matter to me. There's nothing on that wall that I don't already own except
- 1:12:53for a unchained pin and it walks like I have like fifteen of them.
- 1:12:58You can have one, okay, so like three whatever? He said,
- 1:13:02I could have one. It's it's fine. The only other thing that might
- 1:13:06have tickled tickled my pickle was the Vault Master the leaves. What oh DT
- 1:13:15decks? There were DT decks? Yeah, they had you guys are blind?
- 1:13:20How many tickets were the DT decks? I didn't even ask, well,
- 1:13:25did you guys like outlive the apocalypse? There's gonna be like like cockroaches
- 1:13:30and DT decks left on the planet when the world goes to crap and as
- 1:13:33there'll always be a decks are everywhere al d T I should buy more?
- 1:13:42Alway, maybe I shouldn't. We did. We did have a question in
- 1:13:46here about sealed being an option in twenty twenty four. We didn't get to
- 1:13:50ask. We also wanted to ask about the vault. Oh no, that
- 1:13:54was asked. It was it. Yeah, that was definitely asked, and
- 1:13:58they said we'll think about out it. It was part of the can't say,
- 1:14:02won't Oh yeah, I don't remember him asking it, but we didn't
- 1:14:06want I mean that was an outsourcing of the Vault Tours. If that was
- 1:14:11something they were looking into. Oh, that that is an interesting stat.
- 1:14:15Josh just put there that they actually went through quite a few DT but nobody
- 1:14:20took an on chain deck interesting because they could get anajerie they were, although
- 1:14:28I did see on Chained getting played for the weekend. I saw on chain
- 1:14:31decks playing interesting cockroach black and white ones. Yeah, two cockroaches in the
- 1:14:38corner an adaptive with it? Can we just forget adaptive was ever a thing
- 1:14:46and never bring it up again? No, Like it's my favorite. People
- 1:14:53like, it's one of my favorite things to pick on. Well, I
- 1:14:57am so tired of hearing about adaptive, like, oh, it's the most
- 1:15:00way you should be playing it. Adaptive is going to live as long as
- 1:15:06so and saying some people love adaptive. Yes, there are about seven of
- 1:15:12them, the same number that actually play legacy in there was a whole league
- 1:15:17that does. Yeah, and there's seven of them. Now there's actually like
- 1:15:21Cogi or something. Yeople like it. If we were supposed to play the
- 1:15:29game as Garfield intended, unbanned library access, redro bate and switch. Let's
- 1:15:35make let's go back to when I could lock you out of the game with
- 1:15:42a rusty and a uh control the week. Let's do that. That's unchained.
- 1:15:50Well, no, it can't be. Because of the way the cards
- 1:15:53are written now and the rules are written. You could you can't do that.
- 1:15:57Yeah, but those not legal anyway, right, so it's nothing.
- 1:16:00I mean, yeah, if I want to play at my kitchen table any
- 1:16:02way I want. I just flipped three keys like that one guy did to
- 1:16:04me, and tc O just did black slash, Forge backslash, porge backslash,
- 1:16:09and I just you know, was that was it? E walk on
- 1:16:15a secondary account? No, this is this is some time ago where like
- 1:16:19the guy was like bitching at me because I was playing too slow, and
- 1:16:21I'm like, really bro, like I am it was, I'm playing as
- 1:16:30slow walk and slow walk they're both show up. Sometimes we're actually the same
- 1:16:34person. Just to too had two sides of the same coin. He's the
- 1:16:40happy one and I'm just always angry. That's all it is. But uh,
- 1:16:45Jep's got enough piss and vinegar for the both of us, uh,
- 1:16:47these past few days. So there was nerve that was asked. We also
- 1:16:58Z did want to and he never did. I don't know why we wanted
- 1:17:01to know what is the next game next, non KeyForge, non mind Bug
- 1:17:08game they will be producing? Ah who cares well? Having an answer would
- 1:17:14have been would have told us a lot. Like if they had had an
- 1:17:16answer, I think if they if they were like, oh, it's going
- 1:17:20to be this game, like ah, that makes sense, like if they
- 1:17:25compiently had something else that was going to be taking off their printers right,
- 1:17:29which they have one of by the way. But like I told him,
- 1:17:32I'm like, you're not going to get an answer. It's a waste of
- 1:17:34a question. They're not going to be able to tell you what else they're
- 1:17:38producing for some other You don't think they'd be proud of it. You don't
- 1:17:41think they would want you to go buy it right there in the games center
- 1:17:45there if they're the producer of it. Yes, But I think because like
- 1:17:53mind Bugs not a GG game, correct, that's another company that they just
- 1:17:58produced the product. They have a distribution agreement on that one, right,
- 1:18:03which means they are producing it, marketing it and selling it in the States.
- 1:18:09I believe that's what the deal with that one is. It is not
- 1:18:12just a thing. They are also a contract printer, not gg Artiforge,
- 1:18:17right, and maybe to some extent forge Fire is doing work too, But
- 1:18:21Artiforge is a contract printer for other companies where you will not know what they're
- 1:18:26doing because they run a print run and they ship it to them and they
- 1:18:31repack it, or they do if they're doing final packs, or they might
- 1:18:34be printing like in board games. They might be doing prints of decks of
- 1:18:40cards that then go to the next place and they all get boxed together with
- 1:18:43a board game. Like. They can do that kind of stuff there too,
- 1:18:45right, So Artiforge is definitely probably printing stuff that has nothing to do
- 1:18:50with Ghost Galaxy, correct. I think, well, we don't make sense,
- 1:18:56Like what do you do between sets? I mean saw your printer is
- 1:19:02maybe you're just still printing the set. I don't know, man, unless
- 1:19:06that that that footage was sped up like it seems to be at a pretty
- 1:19:11good pace. I do, uh, you know they showed all those reminders
- 1:19:19boxes. I should wonder if you know, because they did, right,
- 1:19:25they didn't to city point, they didn't say it the strategy section, but
- 1:19:29they sort of set their strategy it a separate part of the presentation for marketing,
- 1:19:33Like do you think they're maybe going to try to get these things out
- 1:19:39there to backers like ultra fast, like as soon as the thing closes,
- 1:19:44start shipping. It's possible, it's it is possible. I think stuff starts
- 1:19:49shipping right after the holiday. That could be. They also need to collect
- 1:19:54so much information. Well, the GM starting two days from now, we
- 1:20:00got to put it in right right, it's like real soon. Oh yeah,
- 1:20:02so I mean maybe you get it by January. Who knows. I
- 1:20:06don't. I'm not in charge of We don't. And it will take a
- 1:20:12bit because they're going to ship international first, which is which I think is
- 1:20:15a wise move on their part. Well, yeah, the pledge Manager closes
- 1:20:17on the twenty seventh of November, so yeah, it's like two a week,
- 1:20:21two weeks that's right after thanks Is that right after? Well it is
- 1:20:27after Thanksgiving, but well you know it's that Monday and you're at the Thanksgiving
- 1:20:30table. You can say for hurting your the pledge manager. Now when you
- 1:20:36get bored because your family's fighting and I'm on my phone and I have to
- 1:20:40Oh yeah, that's right, I have to fill out my pledge manager.
- 1:20:43I could do it on my phone while my families are Who does then I
- 1:20:45take them out? I would think you would just joined in. You're in
- 1:20:50my house. We thought you were the one problems. Yeah, I haven't
- 1:20:55talk to my mother in law in three years. Oh well lovely, great
- 1:21:00way, great way to you know, recap this? Yeah? Why not?
- 1:21:03So you don't like someone just want to talk to them. But anyway,
- 1:21:09that's gonna do it for us. I want to get this out to
- 1:21:11you guys, just so you guys, because I know it's hard to understand.
- 1:21:14They also were having a bucket of mic issues, like from beginning to
- 1:21:20end. I don't know what's wrong with their microphones, Like maybe it's time
- 1:21:24for new ones, but mm hmm, no budget for that, so it
- 1:21:30comes out of the marketing budget. Became out of the marketing budgets. So
- 1:21:32we'll just have to keep using the because they had the same problems last year
- 1:21:35too, by the way, Yeah, damn microphone. And it's like I
- 1:21:39new microphones that one's clearly not working. But that's gonna do it for us.
- 1:21:44This week, we'll see all on Thursday. Oh bye, I have
- 1:21:48to forge and everyone time give me your kisses. I want you Monday,
- 1:21:58Tuesday, Wednesday, Baby about marrying and it goes like yes, and you
- 1:22:05see you are a Piking a line here and it goes like say what all
- 1:22:15of the time
