- 0:44a series of questions themed around the most Sensational,
- 0:48inspirational celebrational. And you guessed it Muppet,
- 0:52ational production, The Muppets ever performed, the Muppet Show.
- 0:56The era of the Muppet Show is doubtlessly, what we'd call.
- 1:00Call Jim Henson's Imperial phase.
- 1:03So I'm thrilled to talk about it with you.
- 1:05You like that Imperial phase. I learned that phrase and I
- 1:09think it means has a lot of emperor penguins in it.
- 1:13Now, there's 15 seconds to curtain, so I'm here to knock on
- 1:17my guest stars, dressing-room, doors.
- 1:20Today, we're joined by two podcasting triple threats.
- 1:24It's Anthony strand of tough, pigs.com and David Levy of the
- 1:28Muppet turgi podcast. As always, the questions on this
- 1:32show were written by me with help from that amazing Muppet
- 1:36resource Muppet. Wiki and speaking of let's agree
- 1:39to play fair today. Please don't, look at Muppet
- 1:42Wiki or any other resource while we're playing, you know, my
- 1:45uncle who owns tough pigs. This is his favorite podcast and
- 1:48he'd be very upset. If anyone cheated, well, why
- 1:53don't we get things started in our first round, will meet our
- 1:57contestants? It's around.
- 1:59We like to call All to tell a face contestants, you are going
- 2:05to buzz in to answer three questions about yourself.
- 2:09Whoever buzzes in first will get introduced first ready.
- 2:14Go David? Alright, here's the first of the
- 2:19three questions you're going to get.
- 2:21Number one, what's your name? My name is David David Levy.
- 2:27All right. Well, you got the hardest
- 2:29question of the show? Correct for you.
- 2:31Um, what's your history with the Muppets or with the Muppet Show?
- 2:36You know I grew up watching The Muppets.
- 2:38I remember Watching the Muppet Show.
- 2:40I think towards the end of its original run.
- 2:43When I was a wee lad and I just never really went away from
- 2:48them. So I've been there, you know,
- 2:51not from the beginning beginning but pretty close to it.
- 2:54I have just stayed there. Yeah.
- 2:57And you want to tell us a little bit about Muppet turgi?
- 2:59What? You're working on right now?
- 3:01Oh yes, of course. That'll thing.
- 3:05So, I am the co host of a podcast called Muppet energy,
- 3:09which is a Muppet Show re-watch podcast.
- 3:12We started when the show launched on Disney plus like a
- 3:15whole bunch of other podcasts did, but we do specifically is I
- 3:18recently defined it as research informed posting.
- 3:22So it's a combination of Of letting you know, like, who are
- 3:25these guest stars? What are these songs?
- 3:27Why do, I recognize that comedy bit.
- 3:29But also, you know, having fun with some other Muppet fans
- 3:33digging into like G. Do we think scooter is really
- 3:37horny for Floyd, and I don't know if that wig is really
- 3:40working for Miss Piggy. So if that sounds like you were
- 3:42sort of thing, when we're recording this, we've just
- 3:45wrapped up our first season will be back with season two,
- 3:47starting with season two of The Muppet Show in early October.
- 3:50Yeah, I think this isn't getting this episode isn't getting
- 3:53released until Like November. So when you're hearing this and
- 3:57we will be towards the beginning of season 2, alright?
- 4:01And the last question I'm going to ask you, what's your favorite
- 4:04Muppet Show sketch or song that you remember.
- 4:07Oh, gosh, I'd never do well with favors because I love them all,
- 4:11but I'm going to say, I go to Rio.
- 4:13Okay. Yeah.
- 4:14Your favorite of the day. That's what we like to say on
- 4:16tough pigs. That's the one that came up on
- 4:18shuffle most recently, and it's been stuck in my head.
- 4:20My favorite Muppet of the day. Alright, so you've Just turned
- 4:2420 points, David put who putting you in the lead, but Anthony
- 4:29you've got a chance to answer these three questions, now, as
- 4:31well. Anthony.
- 4:32What's your name? Anthony strand.
- 4:35All right, got it in one, Anthony.
- 4:38What's your history with the Muppets or with this show in
- 4:40particular? So, this show was, I saw the
- 4:45movies is a lot more as a kid, we didn't get cable.
- 4:48And when the music was on Nickelodeon, that was the first
- 4:51time I ever saw at my grandma's house.
- 4:55It was like so exciting. This thing to like, go to my
- 4:57grandma's house and the Muppets have a TV show and it's just
- 5:02songs and sketches and it's weird.
- 5:03I specifically remember the Georgian Burns episode season 2.
- 5:08So, coming up soon, I have a turkey but that one has a scene
- 5:14with Gonzo where they, you know, Gonzo fiddle, while George Burns
- 5:17and all that stuff. My mother named me.
- 5:18She left a note. I died.
- 5:20Two years before I was born. Left a note, all that stuff.
- 5:23I remember seeing that one and just being like, this is my
- 5:26favorite show. This is the greatest TV show
- 5:28I've ever seen. And then, for the next several
- 5:31years, I didn't really see the Muppet Show anymore after they
- 5:34stopped ringing a Nickelodeon. But I checked the Muppet Show
- 5:37book out of the public library all the time.
- 5:41So honestly that book it was my main love a joke thing like
- 5:44until until the DVDs came up almost you know, but yes the
- 5:50Muppet Show was like a thing. I love more than I saw as a
- 5:52child. Yeah, there was a period where
- 5:55it was hard to find, you know, and really up until like three
- 6:00months ago, it was really hard to find and Anthony.
- 6:04I'm going to ask you the same question.
- 6:05What's your favorite Muppet Show sketch for song?
- 6:08Are your favorite one of the day?
- 6:09So I'll say you mentioned moving right along my podcast with Ryan
- 6:14Row in our Test episode 6 years ago, we did a test episode on,
- 6:19good grief, new comedians of are because that is is a favorite of
- 6:24both of ours and we thought it would be a good test to see if
- 6:26the format of our podcast would work just like, you know, doing
- 6:29a deep dive on two minutes of my big content and there's so much
- 6:32there. It's so funny and criminal
- 6:34Fozzie. I think that's the moment when
- 6:36their relationship was crystallized, you know, and it's
- 6:40perfect. Yeah.
- 6:41Good grief, the comedian's of the bear.
- 6:43Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah.
- 6:44And I don't know if I specifically called out your
- 6:46podcast the same way I did with David's just because we always
- 6:50talk about your podcast on tough pigs.
- 6:53Anthony, of course hosts moving right along the Muppet movie
- 6:56podcast, we do on tough pigs.com and it's excellent.
- 7:00And you just finished up, the Muppets, Take Manhattan.
- 7:02We did, we just said, goodbye. If you were to the Moon
- 7:05statement hat, I see what you did there.
- 7:09Alright, so our score is tied right now.
- 7:12David has 20 points and Anthony has 20 points and now all
- 7:17contestants need to be on stage for round two.
- 7:19Obviously, you can't have a Muppet Show without Kermit
- 7:22Fozzie Iggy animal and all of their their Pals.
- 7:26But in this round which we call can you guess your job is to
- 7:31identify these other classic recurring Muppet Show characters
- 7:36who maybe didn't appear quite as often as that core gang.
- 7:41Each of these right answers is worth one point buzz in when you
- 7:45know the answer but please wait. Until I'm done with the
- 7:48questions so the audience can play along, right?
- 7:50Are we ready? Ready, question, number 10.
- 7:53Not usually considered one of the Muppets key musicians, he
- 7:58played triangle in the orchestra pit in the first and second
- 8:02seasons. David crazy.
- 8:07Harry correct, crazy. Harry.
- 8:09Question 2, although he isn't very smart in the Muppet Show's
- 8:13final season, he accurately starts worrying.
- 8:17That the world is coming to an end.
- 8:22Anthony Beauregard. Correct, question 3, one of his
- 8:27only spoken lines in the entire Muppet filmography is how about
- 8:33a little traveling music? Anthony it slips in the great
- 8:39love with you. That sure is lips, which I never
- 8:42noticed it until we covered it on the podcast.
- 8:44I could not have told you one question for he only appeared on
- 8:49stage three times yet appeared in every episode of The Muppet
- 8:54Show's fifth season. David.
- 9:00Oh, is it pops? It is pops.
- 9:05Yes. Can anyone name any of those
- 9:07times? He appeared on stage?
- 9:09Nope. It's, um, it's with a duet with
- 9:14Fozzie, and it's some song with Amy in the title.
- 9:17I don't remember the Once In Love With Amy.
- 9:19What's up with Amy? Yes, definitely.
- 9:23The third one, he was Geppetto in the song Puppet, Man.
- 9:27Sure that. Yeah, that's a.
- 9:29That's a that's that's a song that I'm not sure knows the
- 9:32overtones of itself. Correct.
- 9:35It's creepy. I'll be good when Muppet church.
- 9:37He finally gets to season 5. I'm excited.
- 9:40Alright. Question, six, his performance
- 9:43of a signature song in the first season of The Muppet Show became
- 9:47a top-ten single in the UK. David, that's Robin.
- 9:53That is Robin question. 7, she is both one of the only
- 9:56recurring female Muppets and one of the only right-handed
- 10:00Muppets. Anthony.
- 10:06That is incorrect. Is it any suit is a nice?
- 10:10Ooh, David. I was like who's Louise Gold's
- 10:14most recurring Muffet? Yeah, she's good.
- 10:17She's the Lefty because Louise, gold is thought the Lefty
- 10:19Puppeteer. So her left hand is in a nice
- 10:22ooze head and her right hand is manipulating Annie's right hand
- 10:27question. Eight originally crafted as a,
- 10:29what not an intended to appear in.
- 10:31Only one episode, he would go on to appear in every Muppet.
- 10:39Anthony Marvin Suggs incorrect. He's not in all the movies.
- 10:45Marvin slugs. You never know.
- 10:47He seems like somebody who could be in every crowd scene.
- 10:49I don't think he is. Maybe I'm wrong.
- 10:51I don't think he is. I am eating one movie away from
- 10:55the end of a movie re-watching. And I'm embarrassed that I can't
- 10:58come up with who this is. Well, I'm checking the Marvin
- 11:01Suggs while you're thinking I'm gonna edit.
- 11:03I'm going to edit this out. Cuz I'll give you credit if I'm
- 11:07you know probably not if he's not in case.
- 11:10He's not he's not in Treasure Island.
- 11:13He's not in Christmas Carol, Marvin Suggs.
- 11:17So any guesses David? I'm coming up.
- 11:19Totally blank, Lew Zealand. Oh my God I should have said it.
- 11:24New Zealand. Lucille was even in the Lady,
- 11:31Gaga, Christmas special. I don't count that as a movie,
- 11:33but yes, no. But I'm just saying like that
- 11:35should have been. I just re-watched that for
- 11:37reasons, I cannot explain, but that should have been the him.
- 11:40Like he was the clear like Oddball in that Bunch.
- 11:44So like someone loves Lucille and he's in all of them and I
- 11:48think I couldn't remember if he has a speaking line in Muppets
- 11:53from space, but He has a speaking line in every movie If
- 11:57he if he has a speaking line of Muppets from space, What mother
- 12:01is facing definitely gets a featured moment because he's a
- 12:03dancing. He's dancing and drinking in the
- 12:06bathroom. Yeah.
- 12:07But I don't remember if he has a speaking line and I didn't get
- 12:10the chance to re-watch it before writing that question, but he's
- 12:12in the movie question 9 as Muppet Wiki says, this character
- 12:17is notable for many Appalachians.
- 12:21Be am a PhD Obe and are VP. David, but Mildred that is
- 12:30Mildred. We love Mildred Cleveland
- 12:32Muppets represent. Ryan question 10, despite
- 12:36appearing in the first shot of the classic Muppet Show opening.
- 12:40He was not rebuilt for the Muppets 2011.
- 12:46Anthony, Is it Timmy monster? It is Timmy monster.
- 12:52Yeah, because his dog was and and sweetums is there.
- 12:55Yeah there's just a hopeful, there's just a hole in the arch
- 12:57where there should be Tim. It's the weirdest thing.
- 13:00I don't know why they couldn't put something there.
- 13:03Like even if they didn't want to rebuild Timmy, the scene is so
- 13:05weirdly lopsided. It's also weird kid with the
- 13:08wrong size. Thought yeah, everything about
- 13:10that scene is just yeah, so nice work.
- 13:15That's the end of round two, good remembering and speaking of
- 13:17remembering Fozzie Bear here with jokes to tell.
- 13:22Both old and rare. No no it's just me but I'm here
- 13:27with the remembering game in this game inspired by season 1
- 13:32of The Muppet Show. Your job is to finish Fozzie's
- 13:36jokes from the theme song. It's okay, if you don't get the
- 13:40wording exactly, I can't expect you to get these wordings
- 13:43perfectly, but you have to get them clothes, you have to get
- 13:46the spirit of the joke. Correct.
- 13:48And You know, it helps, if you do your best Fozzie impression,
- 13:52so please bear with me. But remember to wait until I
- 13:56finish the setup before you buzz in with a punch line and of
- 14:00course each joke is worth one point.
- 14:02Death metadata, question 1. Hey I went to a resort hotel for
- 14:06a change and arrest the waiter, got the change.
- 14:11Anthony. And I got arrested incorrect
- 14:18David, and I got the rest. The hotel, got the rest.
- 14:24All right, question to, hey, that Gonzo is so dumb.
- 14:28He just heard that we're running short of water.
- 14:30So he this is so embarrassing. I just thought this round would
- 14:36be fun. Like, I don't know how you hate
- 14:38hard, but you have any Hall here?
- 14:39She could do the whole thing Anthony.
- 14:45He built a lake. I don't know it's incorrect.
- 14:51But hey, I'd love to see him. Build a link.
- 14:55You heard we're running short of water so he cried a lot.
- 15:00I don't know. This was my favorite Fozzie Bear
- 15:03joke when I was a child. It's he wants us to dilute it.
- 15:08We're running short on water so he wants us to dilute it.
- 15:13Was a weird child which is why I'm a weird adult.
- 15:18All right, question 3 in our house, we use paper plates and
- 15:21every night after dinner my wife.
- 15:29Anthony raps, fish and chip in them.
- 15:34It was filmed in the United Kingdom but no that's not.
- 15:38What Fozzie's? Wife does Fuzzy's wife erases
- 15:44them. Erases them is correct David.
- 15:46Yes I'm exempt. Yeah question for I finally
- 15:51found a sure way to lose weight. I bought a scale that Anthony
- 15:58wise. Correct.
- 16:00Yeah, that one. I remember question five.
- 16:04My cousin is so thin. He paints his head gold and
- 16:14David liked as a flagpole rents himself out as a flagpole.
- 16:18I will absolutely give it to you.
- 16:21You know, it's funny. So I tested these out.
- 16:24These questions out on my partner, who likes the Muppets
- 16:28fine. But, like, they haven't seen
- 16:30that many episodes of The Muppet Show.
- 16:31Mostly the movies, you know, a couple that I've shown them, and
- 16:35I was like, can you get these just like, can you complete the
- 16:39joke just based on your knowledge of comedy and they did
- 16:43not I understand that one at all.
- 16:46They were like so upset. They're like flag poles aren't
- 16:49even gold. I'm like, I guess you're right.
- 16:54They could be no know that they can't be but not usually
- 16:59question six. I don't approve of belly
- 17:02dancers. Why can't they dance David on
- 17:07their legs closed? But I'm not giving it to you.
- 17:10Anthony standing up close, but I'm not giving it to you on the
- 17:14floor like everyone else. Question 7, hey, we were so
- 17:21poor. I was born at home.
- 17:23After my mother saw me. She went Anthony to the
- 17:32hospital. Correct.
- 17:38Hey question. What has 1000 legs but can't
- 17:41walk. Anthony.
- 17:52Millipede on crutches? No, but good, that's funny.
- 17:58I mean, it's sad to I just got I just think of all those
- 18:02millipedes on their little millipede.
- 18:04Crutches and Airline map, 500 pairs of pants.
- 18:14All right, we got two left question nine.
- 18:18Hey, I once met a vampire who is so rich?
- 18:21She lived in. David.
- 18:31A blood bank incorrect Anthony. A double-wide coffin Anthony.
- 18:37That's so close. I am going to give it to you.
- 18:39It's a split-level coffin. Yeah, you know, you're
- 18:46considering this game is pretty like, difficult and ridiculous.
- 18:51I will give that one to you, and then, laugh.
- 18:54And last but not least, hey, I wouldn't say the great Gonzo was
- 18:58dumb. But when he graduated from
- 19:00school, he get a diploma, he gotta David, a pension correct.
- 19:08I remember that one. I remember you talking about
- 19:11that on your podcast. Well, because I had to explain
- 19:13it because one of the other hosts didn't get it, we're
- 19:16didn't understand why it was funny.
- 19:19Well, that was so funny and Folks at home, there's no video
- 19:25but I promise you, they were wiggling, their ears and
- 19:28everything. Let's take a second and check
- 19:31the scores right now. Anthony has six points.
- 19:35Excuse me, 26 points. How could I forget the 20 points
- 19:39from the first round? And David has 28 points.
- 19:45Whoa, very close game. I got very nervous when math was
- 19:49happening. Now, it's time for a
- 19:53head-to-head round that we call be the time in this round.
- 19:58The rules are a little different.
- 19:59We're going to start with Anthony and you each will be
- 20:02responsible for providing an answer to my question.
- 20:05So Anthony, you're going to answer the question, then we're
- 20:08going to jump to David David. You're going to answer that.
- 20:11Same question, then, we're going to jump back to Anthony if you
- 20:14get an answer wrong, obviously, you'll jump, right?
- 20:17We'll jump right to the other person.
- 20:19So, they'll have a chance to go again.
- 20:22If you can't answer will jump to the other person as well.
- 20:26I don't think I understand. Okay.
- 20:27Yeah, this is a game that I've had a hard time explaining but
- 20:30it plays fine. Okay, there's going to be one
- 20:33question. And that question is going to
- 20:34have This case, the question has nine answers, okay?
- 20:38That's the part that I'm in. We're going to alternate back
- 20:40and forth answering that question.
- 20:42Got it. That's what I mean.
- 20:44It's like a final round on. Ask me another.
- 20:46Yes, exactly. I kind of stole a lot of the
- 20:50concepts. I thought about writing
- 20:51limericks, like, wait, wait, don't tell me but I didn't.
- 20:56All right, the Muppets covered many songs by popular artists,
- 21:01throughout the Muppet Show, but possibly none of these artists.
- 21:05It's were as famous as the Beatles or used as often as the
- 21:10Beatles starting with Anthony, you will each take turns naming
- 21:15one Beatles song performed on The Muppet Show.
- 21:20There were nine Beatles songs performed during the show's
- 21:23whole run. Again, if you can't answer, I'm
- 21:26going to jump over to the to your opponent.
- 21:28Also, for this version of beat the time, you will earn an extra
- 21:33point. If you can identify Who sang it
- 21:36on The Muppet Show? Or how the number was staged.
- 21:40All right. Get two points.
- 21:41If we can do both, you get two points, if you can do both.
- 21:43Exactly. So there are nine total answers
- 21:47here and we are starting with Anthony.
- 21:52Oh, bloody Obadiah. And it's two British dogs, and
- 21:56one who's a cop? Absolutely David in my life
- 22:04Twiggy is giving a press conference.
- 22:06And then, there is a slideshow of pictures of Twiggy.
- 22:09Correct? It's weird, very weird.
- 22:13We call it twiggy's in memoriam to herself.
- 22:17Absolutely, Anthony. I'm looking through you and it's
- 22:20some ghosts. Carrying Fozzie backstage,
- 22:23correct? David Octopus's Garden and I
- 22:29want to say that it's Kermit and Robin and they are swimming
- 22:32underwater with octopuses and others, correct?
- 22:39Anthony she loves you but I can't remember what it is.
- 22:44I just remember. Like I can hear it in my head
- 22:47but I can't picture it. So yeah, I can't do it.
- 22:49I'll give you one point for she loves you David.
- 22:53Do you remember how she loves? You was performed.
- 22:55This was not season one so no. In fact, I like we may be at the
- 23:00end of my knowledge of beetles on The Muppet.
- 23:02So It's some bugs. In in the grass.
- 23:10Oh sure. So it's just like beetles.
- 23:11Yeah, it's a really lousy pun that they took like four seasons
- 23:16to come up with David. Can you name it since it is your
- 23:21turn. Can you name another Beatles
- 23:24song? I mean I can't have a Beatles
- 23:25song and guests. Here Comes the Sun incorrect.
- 23:31Okay Anthony. um, I know that, I know that there's more at the,
- 23:43you just said that there is more, there are four remaining
- 23:47four remaining, and one of them is one of them is I know that I
- 24:00should know this. Um, I mean, worst comes to
- 24:03worst, you can guess the Beatles song, right, that's right.
- 24:06That's the that's the reason I I chose this was I was like well
- 24:09anyone could guess a beat? Like I could come up with nine,
- 24:12Dorothy Fields song, yes you could.
- 24:16I don't know if our audience at home cash.
- 24:21So I think of which ones I remember, seeing on the show and
- 24:30Good Day, Sunshine, correct. Do you remember how it was
- 24:33staged in the dark right in the dark?
- 24:36Yeah, it's a melt went out. It's a medley with Dancing in
- 24:40the Dark because the power keeps going out.
- 24:43I once wrote an article for tough pigs about how that is the
- 24:46best sketch The Muppets ever did.
- 24:49I'm sure I read it so that's 2 points, David any guesses?
- 24:56Oh, can I guess a character in a situation without guessing a
- 25:00song? Because I am sure at some point
- 25:04Ralph at the piano to The Beatles, cover Incorrect and the
- 25:08Not Dead Act Naturally. Floyd right?
- 25:13I'm gonna give you a point, it is not on my list because it was
- 25:17not originally recorded by The Beatles.
- 25:20So their version of the you are correct.
- 25:23Floyd sings it in Muppets, go to the movies.
- 25:25But that is not how it is performed on The Muppet Show,
- 25:29proper nuns. Those guns are sings.
- 25:31Animal chirps. Yes.
- 25:32Oh well, for counting Beatles covers, then search in where
- 25:36Floyd is looking for. Mary Lou with the to creepy
- 25:39detectives which The Beatles covered on Anthology one, I will
- 25:43give you two points for that. That was not on my list either.
- 25:46But if I gave Anthony 0.44 Act Naturally, I'm going to have to
- 25:50Anthony, we're going to bounce back to you.
- 25:52There's still three actual Beatles.
- 25:55Songs remaining. Very songs pinned by the beat.
- 25:59Yeah. I'm trying to think and let's
- 26:05say that lets say that. Any Sue pig sings, baby you can
- 26:11drive my car which I don't think and both are not true David
- 26:15Floyd sings While My Guitar. Gently Weeps correct.
- 26:20Yes, on both counts. Yeah.
- 26:24Was that just a wild guess? Well I was like, okay, I'm
- 26:27pretty sure they must have done a George Harrison song.
- 26:32If that's a good, guess have a give another guest am not going
- 26:34to see us. I want to give you have any
- 26:36appointment, Anthony back to you.
- 26:39This Boyd also sing Blackbird Floyd does sing Blackbird and a
- 26:43duet with Janice weirdly enough. That was only a UK spot and it
- 26:48feels weird to Shell out the money for a Beatles song.
- 26:52Oh I know why? I know the answer David a TV
- 26:56which was the British producer of The Muppet Show owned the
- 27:00songwriting catalog. Leonard McCarthy at the time.
- 27:02So it was not actually shelling out money was giving themselves
- 27:05money. There you go.
- 27:06Oh, I learned that it might cramming for today's episode
- 27:11David. Um, there's one song remaining
- 27:15unless you can say no, unless you can surprise me with like
- 27:17another old. Standby, that the Beatles did a
- 27:19cover-up. No.
- 27:21And I don't think this is right, but I'm gonna go with another
- 27:24George Harrison song, and think maybe one of the guest stars
- 27:26saying something, you would think so, but incorrect, okay.
- 27:30And Anthony. He can you get the last one?
- 27:34There's one more correct and it is, oh, I know what it is.
- 27:40Damn, it's okay. No, that's fine.
- 27:43First, I'm going to guess that George and Mildred saying, I
- 27:52Want to Hold Your Hand. Oh, wonderful.
- 27:54Guest that I wish happened because they were both performed
- 27:58by Frank Oz simultaneously, holding hands all the time.
- 28:03So I know the real, the actual answer David, I'm gonna kiss it
- 28:05is a season one sketch. It is I get by with a little
- 28:08help with my friends and it is like the it's like a human
- 28:14sacrifice situation, correct? Yeah.
- 28:17Gorgeous. All right.
- 28:18That's all the Beatles songs and what a great round.
- 28:22Well, I love that now. That was fun.
- 28:24Weirdly enough. You each earned?
- 28:2710 points. Awesome, great.
- 28:30All right, well I hope you passed the audition.
- 28:34Now we move into around that we call mystery guest to introduce
- 28:39these guest stars is what we are here to do.
- 28:42So it really makes me happy to explain these rules.
- 28:47To you. I'm going to name a sketch from
- 28:51an episode of The Muppet. Show you earn three points.
- 28:55If you can identify which guest star episode it is from the
- 29:01sketch main may or may not have been performed by that guest
- 29:04star. You're naming the guest star who
- 29:06that episode feature. If neither of, you can buzz in
- 29:11with what what death star that was, I'll give you another
- 29:16sketch from Not episode. If you get it then you earn 2
- 29:21points. If nobody can get it after the
- 29:23second one. I'll give you a third sketch.
- 29:26If you buzz in, then you get one point, right?
- 29:30So the more clues, you need, the less points you get, but you
- 29:34still get points. Even if it takes that long,
- 29:36right? This round should be called the
- 29:38buccal especially after our family.
- 29:41Yeah. He's the master of this would
- 29:43know these all. So again, all of these names
- 29:46were chosen because I looked at a list of all of the game shows
- 29:49that have ever appeared on Sesame Street and they're all
- 29:52just names of game shows that Guy Smiley or Pat play jacks.
- 29:57Hosted this is Mystery guest so as always wait to buzz in until
- 30:01I finished naming the sketch, right?
- 30:04And we'll go from there. So episode 1 I've got you under
- 30:11my skin. Anthony.
- 30:17Vincent Price. That is the Vincent Price
- 30:19episode. So that's, that's what I watch
- 30:22every year. So that's three points episode 2
- 30:27Tea for two. Anthony Harry Belafonte.
- 30:36That is Harry Belafonte. It's relevant Lucilla and doing
- 30:39something funny curtain closed. Question 36 string orchestra.
- 30:52Anthony. The stars of Star Wars,
- 30:55featuring Mark, Hamill correct. Anthony's really good at this.
- 30:58One question for her episode 4 in the Navy.
- 31:09David, Roger Moore correct? That was prominently featured in
- 31:14of Muppets and Men, the which I watched last night, that's the
- 31:19thing. I think of that sketch is being
- 31:20from question, five, I won't dance.
- 31:30Anthony, that's your to burn. That is George Burns.
- 31:33I did not realize that was your favorite episode of all time.
- 31:36When I wrote These it's one of them.
- 31:39It's up there. Dorothy field song my question 6
- 31:47Paco Africa. David, Earl Grey.
- 31:54That is Joel Grey was how I haven't needed to go to the
- 31:57other sketches on any of these. Question 7.
- 32:03Yes, we Have No Bananas. Anthony Phyllis George correct.
- 32:13David. Can you name another episode
- 32:15that featured that song? Oh gosh probably not accurately.
- 32:22I want to say Lola Falana but I think this is because her name
- 32:24kind of reminds me of the war banana know.
- 32:28So the one that I was actually originally looking for was Steve
- 32:32Martin Marvin Suggs performs it in the Steve Martin episode but
- 32:36apparently it also appears in In the Jean-Pierre rampal episode
- 32:42of The Muppet Show, which I have definitely seen at one point in
- 32:46my life, but couldn't remember episode 8, edible paper clips.
- 32:58All right, should I move on to a second sketch?
- 33:01I mean, I could name a random guest star and see if I can get
- 33:04it. All right, let's move on to a
- 33:08second sketch. In the good old summertime.
- 33:15Anthony Pearl. Bailey correct.
- 33:18She's a good Lloyd backstage which cools if I had not ruined
- 33:23the first attempt at making dinner tonight.
- 33:25Thereby delaying dinner. Thereby limiting the number of
- 33:28Muppet Show episodes I can watch before we join this call that
- 33:31was next on my list. Such a good one.
- 33:35You definitely would have gotten it by the third one because the
- 33:37third one, I had written down every single song that they
- 33:41perform in the Camelot number. Question nine.
- 33:48Night and day. Anthony.
- 33:56I don't know, let's say Diana, Ross incorrect.
- 33:59I don't think this is right by Carol Burnett, no, neither of
- 34:01you are, right? So let's go to the second clue
- 34:03here friendship train. Anthony.
- 34:10Is it Gladys? Knight it is, Gladys, Knight and
- 34:13Gladys day, they don't actually do that pun in the day and night
- 34:17night and day number. It's well, but that's because
- 34:21they do the. I'm glad it's night bit at the
- 34:23opening and she says, yeah, LOL one.
- 34:26Yeah, she only allows one, right.
- 34:28You drool that's a night and day is one of my favorite sketches
- 34:32as well. That's the one with the mummies.
- 34:35Oh yeah, we Gonzo is the lead mum.
- 34:37Yeah. Yeah, that's I see a theme in
- 34:39your favorites. Mummies.
- 34:42No nights and days. All true.
- 34:43Good Day. Sunshine was my other favorite.
- 34:45Correct. All right.
- 34:47Episode 10 Auto, the automatic Entertainer Anthony is that Jean
- 34:58Stapleton. It is not Jean Stapleton.
- 35:00David do you have a guess here? Otherwise I'll go to the second
- 35:02clip. No.
- 35:04All right, sketch number 2 from this episode.
- 35:08Let's Call the Whole Thing Off. I'm going to move on to sketch
- 35:16number three. A bird in a gilded cage.
- 35:23Anthony Liberace is not Liberace and boy, could you have not
- 35:28chosen a more opposite performer?
- 35:34All right, who's the richest performer?
- 35:35Who's on The Muppet Show? Who's not Roger Moore.
- 35:39David for one point, can you name the most Butch person who
- 35:42was ever on the source alone? Correct.
- 35:44Yes. Favorite episodes.
- 35:53I love that. Let's Call the Whole Thing Off
- 35:55number with that, weird full-body lion.
- 35:58That's that. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:00And then the last episode that we are doing Smoke Gets In Your
- 36:05Eyes. We don't want the numbers are so
- 36:10interested in that. So I tried to make them get
- 36:13harder as we went on like that's how I Anthony.
- 36:19Did you buzz in? I'm sorry I did buzzing and
- 36:23Antics. Just let's just say Ben Vereen.
- 36:26Okay, incorrect David. You want to guess the season 1
- 36:29episode? You at least know all those
- 36:31actors Charles aznavour incorrect.
- 36:34Second. Clue lady wrestlers.
- 36:40Anthony. That's some too.
- 36:45Then Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and season to the Smoke.
- 36:48Gets In Your Eyes, as in more than one episode.
- 36:49Hold on, let me recent, let me go back to brew.
- 36:52Let me go. Let me go, let me go back and
- 36:55make sure that you guys didn't get that.
- 36:58No, Wayne and Wanda. Never perform Smoke Gets In Your
- 37:00Eyes. Oh, I'm confusing with on a
- 37:02clear day. You can see forever, which is
- 37:03the gag. You would do.
- 37:04If we don't want to do, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes spoilers, they
- 37:09do that gag when this appears in season two, um, but is it Teresa
- 37:15Brewer. It is not oh gosh.
- 37:18So I can tell you the whole plot of the episode and I just cannot
- 37:22remember who the guest star is because it's the one where
- 37:26they're they're out of money and they go to scooters uncle and he
- 37:32says, he will do it as long as they class it up with his
- 37:34favorite entertainment. And that entertainment is Lady
- 37:39wrestlers, and Oh gosh, and I just haven't watched it yet, but
- 37:46I just read that Joseph. A Bailey book where he talks
- 37:48about writing this sketch. Yeah, that's 0. 0 is 0.
- 37:57Wow, the last one would have probably given it away.
- 38:01It was what do the simple folk do, which is the one that zero
- 38:04mostel actually performs the other two he did not.
- 38:08With Featherstone a favorite. Well, I'm just the others
- 38:11though. I still never found you that
- 38:15picture of me and Tom Mandela that I said I would send you.
- 38:18Oh yeah. Because you've never been there.
- 38:20You haven't been to mow me since they were you have 10 minutes, I
- 38:24read it. Yeah.
- 38:25Alright, okay, so let's continue with our guest stars and head to
- 38:30our talk spot in my favorite game, the triangle is right in
- 38:35this game. There's three right.
- 38:38Answers to every question and you can score points for each,
- 38:42right? Answer.
- 38:43You get remember buzz in even if you don't know all three answers
- 38:48because you'll get points for whatever you do.
- 38:51Remember, but if you miss any, your opponent will have the
- 38:55chance to clean up whatever you missed.
- 38:58So, these are all questions about Muppet Show guests and
- 39:01each of these have three right answers.
- 39:04Question, one the three Humans who guest starred in season 4?
- 39:15Anthony. R2D2 C-3PO and Chewbacca correct
- 39:20question to the three actresses. Who both guest-starred on The
- 39:25Muppet Show and in The Muppets Take Manhattan.
- 39:33David Linda, Lavin Liza Minnelli, and Oh, it's
- 39:46Canonsburg. His mother is in the Muppets.
- 39:48Take Manhattan and Edgar Bergens life, right?
- 39:57Oh gosh. It's not Joan Rivers.
- 39:59It's it's actresses, right? You said, I guess they have to
- 40:02be female. Okay, I'm just going to run
- 40:06through all the, all the I'm so embarrassed because it's my
- 40:16favorite movie. Like that is a favorite Muppet,
- 40:18movie favorite movie. And I am drawing a blank on the
- 40:21third one. Anthony, it's Brooke.
- 40:23She it is Brooke Shields. I wish I'd known that.
- 40:26I'm sorry. We didn't invite you on the
- 40:27show. No, it's okay.
- 40:29I didn't want to be pushy about it.
- 40:32Sure, well, if you ever want to we'd love to have you for a
- 40:34later one. No, thanks.
- 40:37How do you, how do you feel about Christmas David?
- 40:40So I am the exact right age to heat that movie because like
- 40:44because it was both like it's the Muppet movie that came out.
- 40:47Like I grew up with the Jim Henson Muppets and then that
- 40:50came out and also like I think that was the first thing that
- 40:53came out when I was in high school and suddenly I was like a
- 40:55little not the right target age, so that might be my favorite
- 41:01one. I say the Movie is my favorite
- 41:03but that one might be my favorite just because it's my
- 41:06wife's favorite one. It's so beautiful.
- 41:08Like, it's probably the one that's the best directed.
- 41:11Even if like the jokes obviously, and the songs are not
- 41:15as good as the other ones. But I digress.
- 41:18Question 3, the three oldest Muppet Show, guest stars in
- 41:24terms of birth year, David. George Burns, Senor wences, and
- 41:34I think, Bob Hope. Okay, you got two of them, you
- 41:37got the first two Bob, Hope is not on that list.
- 41:39Those those are the three who lived to 100 or later.
- 41:43Yeah. Well, that's why I did in terms
- 41:45of birth year. No, I know.
- 41:47That's just why I was trying to like, split the difference
- 41:49there? Anthony.
- 41:50Can you get the last one? So it's somebody who's older
- 41:54than Bob Hope and who it is. So, it's And your Bergen.
- 42:02It is Edgar Bergen. I almost said Milton Berle, but
- 42:04I think he's about five years younger than Bob Hope.
- 42:06Okay, so we're going to do the opposite.
- 42:08Now, the three youngest Muppet Show, guest stars in terms of
- 42:12birth year Anthony, Brooke Shields, mmm.
- 42:21And then I believe the next one is Cheryl Ladd and then no.
- 42:27Okay, but Mark Hammond, Mark Hamill is one of the other ones,
- 42:29but Cheryl Ladd is not. There's someone you're
- 42:32forgetting okay, David, any guesses.
- 42:37Nice is very confident about Brooke Shields.
- 42:39She was the only one who was killing.
- 42:43Yes. She's the only one who was like,
- 42:44literally a child. So here's one, that is
- 42:49absolutely correct and you're not going to count it, it is Big
- 42:52Bird. I almost have to eat only been
- 43:01around for like 11 years old but then it wouldn't Big Bird.
- 43:06It would be R2. Her C-3PO or Chewbacca.
- 43:10Well, except that also big birds.
- 43:11Like canonical a yeah. That's true.
- 43:13But it is in terms of birth year as what I said but it's neither
- 43:18of those people. I'm not going to give you credit
- 43:20it is. Do I do I get to guess again now
- 43:23it's sadly taken from us far too sir soon Christopher guessing a
- 43:29good point. Christopher Reeve I should know
- 43:34that cuz he and Mark Hamill, we're like best buddy.
- 43:36Yeah, it's again. It's tough.
- 43:38I feel like we don't think of him as being that young because
- 43:44he passed so early. Like, it doesn't like when I was
- 43:47writing this list I was like oh yeah I guess he is you know well
- 43:52but also like the roles that we associate with him.
- 43:55Our grown-up rolls right side? Like he we didn't we don't have
- 43:59a vision of him playing teenagers even if he does for a
- 44:02little bit and Superman. Yeah.
- 44:04As opposed to Brooke Shields and Mark Hamill who he right?
- 44:06Doesn't they got another guy Played the team in Superman and
- 44:10then possibly his voice. Moving on question 5 excluding
- 44:16mummenschanz and other fictional characters the three Muppet Show
- 44:22episodes that feature guest stars with one word names.
- 44:31Anthony. Liberace.
- 44:36And I was so confident on Liberace, but the other two must
- 44:43be stars with one word names, huh?
- 44:49I'm embarrassed to say that I told me when I can think of
- 44:51Liberace. I'm sure myself.
- 44:53David Can you steal? Gosh.
- 44:55Hmm. Probably not.
- 45:03This is what I get, really sad that sure was never on the show.
- 45:07She should have been Charo, seems like she could have been
- 45:11right? And like, you know, technically
- 45:13Shields and Yarnell have names I'm counting Shields and Yarnell
- 45:18because that I will give you a point for that.
- 45:21Okay, they're their Guild as Shields and Yarnell.
- 45:25Okay? I mean everyone has a name.
- 45:28Liberace has a name. Well, right, but like, But like
- 45:33they actually had names that they used just.
- 45:35Yeah. But they all say that excused
- 45:37Shields and Yarnell right. Okay, okay, but that's just one,
- 45:40that's why. Yes I said, okay.
- 45:42So it's I mean, am I circles? Liza only has one name but
- 45:47that's not how current introduces her.
- 45:50That I know I'm trying to play. Listen, I don't I don't mean to
- 45:54scare you with this very spooky episode but it's Twiggy.
- 46:00Oh my goodness. And my favorite question of this
- 46:07episode. And the last question in this
- 46:09round, the three Muppet Show, guest stars, who also appeared
- 46:15in live action, movies based on DC Comics.
- 46:25David. Christopher Reeve Lynda Carter
- 46:44otherwise no she was only live action films because you
- 46:53otherwise Mark Hamill would be a really a choice.
- 46:55There's a bunch Paul. Williams was the Penguin on the
- 46:59animated TV show, but I'm just kind of live action movies.
- 47:06I've got the third one is probably like, in the movie of
- 47:08Swamp Thing or something, right? Like it's a I know how you game
- 47:12shows work. I'll tell you this.
- 47:16It was in a very this actor was in a very successful DC Comics
- 47:21movie. Okay, like financially speaking,
- 47:25right? I don't know about the Rotten
- 47:28Tomatoes score. Who knows with any of these
- 47:30superhero movies. I'm going to have to let Anthony
- 47:35go again. Need to toss this Anthony,
- 47:36Anthony, any idea. Again, I'm I feel like I should
- 47:41know it in a very successful at least financially financially
- 47:46speaking. I mean, I liked it.
- 47:49Yeah, you like it and it was doesn't mean anything though.
- 47:52I hate but now I'm thinking like like was Vengeance cavelli
- 47:55secretly on the who's in Batman, but no, I unfortunately I cannot
- 48:04think of who it is and have credit for me.
- 48:07Shell flavor. I mean, Deadpool is the Ripoff
- 48:31of Deathstroke, right? So, does that happen?
- 48:33That's a Marvel movie. That's, that's what that was, my
- 48:37little. All right, so let me, let me
- 48:44guess that it's It's Superman to, and it's Leo, Sayers and
- 48:55Superman to, he could have been, but no to the best of my
- 48:58knowledge. He was not.
- 48:59So listen, this was my favorite question that I wrote.
- 49:02And to write this question, I had to do a lot of reading on
- 49:07Muppet Wiki to make sure I wasn't missing interpreting the,
- 49:10the numbers here. If anyone, you know, playing
- 49:14along at home believes, I am wrong here.
- 49:17And there's some actor that I'm Getting please let me know but
- 49:21to the best of my knowledge. Christopher, Reeve obviously
- 49:24appeared in for live-action DC, Comics movies, Superman one,
- 49:28two, three, and four Lynda. Carter was on a TV show for
- 49:32years but did appear in the oh wait Queen was it course?
- 49:36Preach minimal Wonder Woman pilot with me.
- 49:38I wasn't counting that is that's that's from that was the pilot
- 49:43of the TV show movie. Yeah.
- 49:46But before the series, TV movie is not on.
- 49:52This was definitely a theatrically released movie.
- 49:55Oh no. Is this is it going to be from
- 49:56Batman 66? It is not.
- 49:58Okay, it's from the hit Financial, smash film Aquaman,
- 50:05which few letters, which faces Andrews.
- 50:19You did say appears in. All right, okay, set of P.
- 50:22Are you really gonna play that game with me?
- 50:24And then he just know, I Anyway, so we're coming up on
- 51:00the end of a of our show, but the points are even bigger.
- 51:03This is the anything in the world prize day because you two
- 51:07are now able to ask me anything in the world or at least
- 51:12anything in the world of the Muppet Show, each of you will
- 51:15get to ask me a question about this show.
- 51:17If you stumped me, you will earn Ten points.
- 51:22Here we go. So David.
- 51:24Why don't you get us started here?
- 51:27Okay, as you probably know throat, especially the first
- 51:32couple years of the show, there would be puppeteers who came on
- 51:38to do a featured role here or there but did not become regular
- 51:41members of the Muppet company. One such Puppeteer came from a
- 51:46very distinguished theatrical lineage and I don't know how
- 51:54complex and let's ask the answer, but like I would like
- 51:58ideally the name of the Puppeteer and the explanation of
- 52:03her distinguished theatrical lineage that I just gave you a
- 52:06gender. So that narrows it down I should
- 52:12have known, you were going to come up with a question that I
- 52:15had. Absolutely no idea about this is
- 52:17something we discussed at length on my paternity, so that,
- 52:20that's, that's how I feel. Like, it's fair, I have listened
- 52:22to, every single episode of Muppet turgi, okay?
- 52:25But there is one that I fell asleep in the middle of.
- 52:30Oh, which one the problem is? I don't remember.
- 52:33I actually I didn't just all of them over the span of a week
- 52:37because I hadn't started it. And I kept being like, I need to
- 52:40start it. I need to started.
- 52:41I need Start it and then I was just doing chores around the
- 52:44apartment and I was like I could probably just knock these all
- 52:47out in a week like um, so I don't remember which one it was
- 52:50but I'm gonna hope it was the one that I slept through that, I
- 52:54am missing. Yeah, I got nothing. if they
- 53:01need, you know, It's whoever plays Cynthia birdly and the
- 53:05duck. That's correct.
- 53:07I did. I did listen to that episode.
- 53:09I was awake for like blanking on her name which I feel bad about
- 53:13its Cynthia, something right? Like Cynthia Adler and she's
- 53:16from the Adler Theater, Royal Family, which includes Stella
- 53:19Adler the great acting teacher and all the Yiddish theater
- 53:23Adler's. All right, Andre Anthony you've
- 53:26earned yourself 10 points. That was a perfectly fair
- 53:28question especially because I did listen to that episode.
- 53:31Wait Lily goo. Oh, I'm sorry.
- 53:34David, I wrote down 10 points under David.
- 53:40I just said Anthony because Anthony said, Cynthia bird.
- 53:44Like Anthony. Does I'm the one with the hat?
- 53:46Yeah. All right.
- 53:49Anthony. Would you like to ask me a
- 53:51question? I would.
- 53:52So we all know that Beaker wasn't introduced until season
- 53:56two of The Muppet Show, but in season one, there were only four
- 54:01Muppet Labs sketches. the two of them feature characters other
- 54:06than Bunsen, So, what I want you to tell me is of the two
- 54:11sketches that only have Bunsen alone with no other co-star?
- 54:17What what is the premise of at least one of those two months
- 54:22and solo sketchy. Here's the problem.
- 54:24You are, you picked the wrong host.
- 54:27To ask this question too, because my my first article for
- 54:32tough pigs, I watched every single Muppet skin Muppet Labs
- 54:36sketch, back to back to back. And there are four Muppet Labs
- 54:41sketches and season one, there are two that feature characters
- 54:45other than bouncing, one of them is Peter Ustinov as the robotic
- 54:49politician though. Other one is a weirdly
- 54:54creepy-looking gorilla puppet costume but or agofsky.
- 54:59There are two. There are two that don't I'll be
- 55:02honest, one of them. I am blanking on right now but
- 55:06one of them is the The tenderized plates and other
- 55:11silverware. What is it that the meal meat
- 55:15plate to? I don't remember the mother
- 55:17Labs, all-purpose tenderizer is what it's called.
- 55:21And so that is one sketch that only features.
- 55:24Bunsen give me one sec. Give me one second here.
- 55:26I want to see if I can remember the others.
- 55:28Even though that is just the one.
- 55:31Yeah, there's only one. There's only one other one in
- 55:33season one. I keep thinking.
- 55:34Edible paper clips that. I know that season 2.
- 55:38I know because they're for that. Yeah, you're gonna, you're gonna
- 55:40have to tell me. It is exploding hat.
- 55:42Exploding scarves, Etc. In the poems that are in the
- 55:47Phyllis Diller. And I can see, I can see why I
- 55:49forgot that because that is one totally doesn't work without
- 55:52Beaker being present, right? I feel like that's the one that
- 55:56inspired beakers exist. Yeah the gorilla detector to
- 55:59maybe like I feel like like that one it's like Bunsen is like I'm
- 56:03not being dragged off by a girl that's so much money.
- 56:06Your beakers being dragged off by now.
- 56:07Yeah, it's a I can remember bunsen's clothes being on fire
- 56:11but I couldn't remember why they were on fire, right?
- 56:15Yeah. That is definitely not a, not a
- 56:17good one, the Bunsen sketches, and season one, not funny.
- 56:22I like the gorilla detector. I'll always have a soft spot for
- 56:25that because of the Muppet Show book.
- 56:28Yeah, that's exactly what I said.
- 56:29I can give you the podcast. Yes, I'll tell you, the
- 56:33tenderizer sketch may not be the funniest, but it's excellent
- 56:36like special effects. Hearing so that kind of seems
- 56:39like that's why I remember it because.
- 56:41Yeah, I love live in the ladle. Kind of goes flaccid.
- 56:48Okay, so we are moving into our final round which we call save
- 56:54the word and this round Works basically the same as Final
- 56:58Jeopardy, except I don't call it Final Jeopardy.
- 57:01Because again I wanted to choose guy, smiling game shows.
- 57:04So in this round you are going to wager any amount.
- 57:07Of points. If you get the question and you
- 57:10are going to send me the answer, using the chat, right?
- 57:13So you're going to direct message it to me, make sure
- 57:15you're not messaging it to everyone because then Anthony or
- 57:21David will be able to see your answer and know the right answer
- 57:25so you can wager any amount of points.
- 57:27You're going to send me the answer and how many points
- 57:30you're wagering and that will determine your final score if
- 57:35you get the question right, you gain that many points.
- 57:38If you get the question wrong, you lose that many points now.
- 57:42Let's check the scores before you guys.
- 57:44Start thinking about your bats. And let me tell you in the
- 57:48history of hubba-wha, I have never had a game.
- 57:52This close Anthony you have 63 points.
- 58:02David you have 64 points. Oh no.
- 58:11So it really is anybody's game and this this final final say
- 58:16the word is going to determine it and do we get a category or
- 58:19any kind of hinted what's to come.
- 58:22So that we have some way to judge what we should wager.
- 58:25You'll get to wager. Once I read the question.
- 58:28Oh, Okay. It's not quite the same as Final
- 58:32Jeopardy and the I mean, the category is the Muppet Show,
- 58:39you've heard of it. Um so the question goes like
- 58:42this other than Statler and Waldorf which named Muppet Show
- 58:48character appeared the most often in Statler and Waldorf
- 58:54balcony box, you're going to direct message the answer of me
- 58:57and how many points you're betting.
- 59:01It has to be a named character. You could argue the answer is
- 59:05chickens, but it's that's a collective animal, not a
- 59:10character. I'm stuck on how much to wager.
- 59:17It's closed, it's closed. Yeah.
- 59:21Yeah, if you do you think, you know the answer.
- 59:24I feel like I have it narrowed down to two.
- 59:27I also feel like I have it narrowed down to I'm sure
- 59:30they're the same team. What is there a prize at stake?
- 59:34There is a prize at stake. We do give prizes here.
- 59:38Mmm. Know what?
- 59:42I'm risking. That's the all right.
- 59:46Both of our bets are in. I will say, one of you is
- 59:50correct. One of you is incorrect.
- 59:54Oh Anthony, you wagered zero points.
- 59:59In other words, you are betting that David would get the
- 1:00:02question wrong, David, you wagered 62 points.
- 1:00:09In other words, you were hoping that somehow two points would
- 1:00:13let you win the game. Anthony, would you care to say
- 1:00:17which Muppet you put? No, no.
- 1:00:19I was wagering that we both got it, right?
- 1:00:21Let's be clear a little good. But apparently, that is not to
- 1:00:30be. That's not how I interpreted it.
- 1:00:34Anthony, if we both get a right then I would win, that's good.
- 1:00:38If we both kind of wrong and he and Anthony wager what he needed
- 1:00:41to wager to beat me then I would win.
- 1:00:46So two out of three potential scenarios I win.
- 1:00:49Let's hope that it's not the third scenario.
- 1:00:52Well let's hope it is Anthony. Yes, I put Gonzo I put the Great
- 1:00:59Guns. Good guess he has appeared in
- 1:01:01the box. That was my second guess so.
- 1:01:04Well did you were right on that? That David.
- 1:01:08What did you put? My guess was Kermit the Frog the
- 1:01:13correct answer. I need like a drum roll sound.
- 1:01:15Fact, here, the correct answer is Kermit the Frog.
- 1:01:20That question is one, when I was planning it, and muppet Wiki has
- 1:01:29a wonderful list that you can find colorful characters, other
- 1:01:33than Statler and Waldorf who have appeared in the balcony
- 1:01:36box, and it has a list of all of them and I went through and
- 1:01:40count it. And I was like, is it too
- 1:01:42obvious? That the right answer is Kermit
- 1:01:44the Frog and then I was Like no, it's the right level of enough,
- 1:01:51Anthony Gonzo is not even in the running.
- 1:01:55I think he's only been in there twice.
- 1:01:57I think that is that that that clip of him find his motorcycle
- 1:02:01up. There is his bear is
- 1:02:03oft-repeated. Yeah.
- 1:02:04That's also in general like if you think who is a muppet who
- 1:02:07gets flung from the stage the most you think that.
- 1:02:10But this the number two, the runner up is one that neither of
- 1:02:14you guessed but makes me proud. The most sense it's fuzzy
- 1:02:18because of so many jokes about like turnabout you know, like we
- 1:02:23should carry and wine shop that happened in one of the episodes
- 1:02:26that watch today. Yeah, other other ones who had
- 1:02:30surprisingly High numbers, crazy, Harry Frazee Harry and
- 1:02:35the Swedish Chef is up there. A little too is one of the
- 1:02:38higher ones, if I recall so, congratulations, David.
- 1:02:45Prizes your choices include a previously owned gorilla
- 1:02:55detector. Or has it been refurbished know
- 1:02:59now or this painting of The Muppet Show character.
- 1:03:10I would have been so devastated if Anthony one that hears the
- 1:03:15things like hey I already have an original Evan sketch.
- 1:03:19It's it's Brule the minstrel as a party.
- 1:03:22Guest ahead, Fred nephew Fred's party and Muppet Christmas
- 1:03:25Carol. And to wake if I'd won that I
- 1:03:28would have let you have that. That's like absolutely going in
- 1:03:32a frame of mind thing. It's it's normally actually
- 1:03:37operate behind me, but we just had our baby.
- 1:03:40Refundable. We haven't put out a bunch of
- 1:03:42that stuff yet and that brings us to the end of another one,
- 1:03:45David Anthony. Where can people find you?
- 1:03:47If you wish to be found David? I am on pretty much all of the
- 1:03:50social medias, as it's the levy. Like it's delightful, it's
- 1:03:54delicious, it's alevi, and also a Trumpeter g.com and wherever
- 1:03:59find podcasts are distributed. All right, and Anthony, I am
- 1:04:04mostly off of public social media.
- 1:04:06These days, you can always follow me on letterboxed if you
- 1:04:09want it. Read my ramblings about movies.
- 1:04:12I'm at Zippo Marxist on there and we should be back.
- 1:04:17Hopefully, by the time this is out, we'll be we'll be charging
- 1:04:20into another season of moving right along the movie podcast
- 1:04:25where we watch two minutes at a time.
- 1:04:27We'll doing some specials. We probably have already done a
- 1:04:30celebration of 30 years recently or I don't know Muppets at Walt
- 1:04:34Disney World. Look out for those.
- 1:04:35Can you believe? I've never seen a celebration of
- 1:04:3730 years, it's on YouTube. I know.
- 1:04:40Also never seen go to the movies or Muppets, go Hollywood and
- 1:04:43those are on YouTube as well. Here's the thing.
- 1:04:46Go Hollywood is garbage. Well, but and that was actually
- 1:04:53one of our most fun bonus episodes on the podcast because
- 1:04:55they like, maybe the my least favorite.
- 1:04:58Jim Henson Europe, Muppet thing. I listen to, I just don't, but
- 1:05:03go to the movies. Great, go to.
- 1:05:04The movies is just the double Link episode of The Muppet Show.
- 1:05:07It's have that on a bootleg DVD from Israel.
- 1:05:10It's just one of those things. That's just one of those things.
- 1:05:12That's just so weird, because like, I mean, Anthony, you know,
- 1:05:16me better but like, I'm so obsessive about this stuff and I
- 1:05:19have like, such a photographic memory for all of like, this
- 1:05:22weird weird and just for whatever reason, I haven't, you
- 1:05:26know, done those two saving them for a rainy day.
- 1:05:29Yeah. And of course, you can find
- 1:05:31tough pigs at tough pigs.com, or at tough pigs on Twitter,
- 1:05:35Facebook, and Instagram. And hey, if you like our work
- 1:05:38consider donating to the tough pigs patreon, where you could
- 1:05:41get even more exclusive, free stuff, and the knowledge that
- 1:05:44you're helping us, Us run our website.
- 1:05:47Thanks again for being with us on Hubble.
- 1:05:49Wah the Muppet quiz show, and as always, we're not half bad.
- 1:05:54We're all bad, huh?
