- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The rex was
- 0:06Speaker 2: not chasing the jeep. Murray Murry, you there, you love sandwiches, Huh,
- 0:11Speaker 2: Let's go to eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It was bo wow that Prime Time. Maybe I had
- 0:18Speaker 1: a crush on Betty Rubbell. I honestly, until after the
- 0:21Speaker 1: segment ended and we went to commercial break, had no
- 0:23Speaker 1: idea that Jonathan Coachman was black. He caught them the
- 0:26Speaker 1: game last night, although they won the game. You're listening
- 0:30Speaker 1: just to goatsen Company. It is to goatsa company presented
- 0:33Speaker 1: by FanDuel and the FanDuel sportsbook. Mikey A. I have
- 0:36Speaker 1: been doing this for a long long time. I usually
- 0:39Speaker 1: have a pretty good gauge of what's the most interesting
- 0:41Speaker 1: thing to an audience, especially to my audience, to our audience.
- 0:47Speaker 1: And I wake up this morning and I'm not entirely sure.
- 0:50Speaker 1: For the first time in twenty years, I don't know
- 0:53Speaker 1: if they're more interested in the US men's national soccer team,
- 0:56Speaker 1: which advanced to the Round of sixteen, or whether or
- 0:59Speaker 1: not they're more trist did in one of the most
- 1:01Speaker 1: ridiculous absurd trades we have ever seen in the NBA
- 1:06Speaker 1: what says you?
- 1:08Speaker 3: I thought you were wanted to talk about Brandon Soresby
- 1:10Speaker 3: to claim for the twenty twenty seven draft.
- 1:12Speaker 4: That's where my head was at.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But what do you think when I say that?
- 1:18Speaker 3: I think one of them has comedic value to it
- 1:23Speaker 3: and I think the other one has kind.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Of anger value to it. So I don't know which
- 1:27Speaker 1: toy you want to start?
- 1:28Speaker 3: You want to you want to start angry and then
- 1:30Speaker 3: end on the on the on the funnier note, or
- 1:33Speaker 3: do you want to start you know, funny and end
- 1:36Speaker 3: on the the more angry note.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Well, what are people angry about that? There was a
- 1:40Speaker 1: red card issued in the game that shouldn't been a
- 1:42Speaker 1: red card? Taylor announced last night the USA chances of
- 1:45Speaker 1: winning the World Cup is done. It is over. I'm
- 1:48Speaker 1: assuming he thinks because they can't beat Belgium without that guy.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Is that right, Taylor?
- 1:53Speaker 5: That is pretty correct. The drop off from flow ball
- 1:57Speaker 5: gain to some combination of Cardo Pepe, Tim Way A.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Haji Wright is astronomical. Flow Balgin was the difference in
- 2:06Speaker 5: that first half. He's We've never really had somebody that
- 2:09Speaker 5: clinical up top being able to finish goals. You saw
- 2:12Speaker 5: where he scores it gets ruled off sides, calms the
- 2:16Speaker 5: celebration down, and then a few minutes later he scores
- 2:19Speaker 5: to open the game and get that one one nothing start.
- 2:24Speaker 5: It's gonna be very tough to beat Belgium without without
- 2:28Speaker 5: flow Balgin.
- 2:30Speaker 1: All right, So I don't know this. You guys know,
- 2:32Speaker 1: I am not a huge fan of soccer. I'm coming around.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I'm trying here. I don't know. How much better is
- 2:38Speaker 1: Belgium than Bosnia?
- 2:41Speaker 4: Significant significantly better.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Really, this is like an elite is an elite club.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I called him a club. You like that. I told
- 2:47Speaker 1: you I'm trying to get to soccer. This is an
- 2:49Speaker 1: elite soccer club.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Yeah, so Belgium is ranked in the top ten. Belgium
- 2:56Speaker 5: is ninth in the FIFA rankings. If I had, I
- 3:00Speaker 5: guess Bosnia is nowhere even close to that, Like the
- 3:04Speaker 5: United States is fifteenth. So already you're playing up a
- 3:09Speaker 5: level going to against against Belgium Bosnia. I'm scrolling, I'm scrolling,
- 3:17Speaker 5: I'm buying time. Bosnia is sixty first in the world rankings. Okay,
- 3:21Speaker 5: so there's a big difference. Bosnia shouldn't have even been there.
- 3:24Speaker 5: I mean, their whole story of like like it.
- 3:27Speaker 3: They played Italy for a winning get in game and
- 3:29Speaker 3: then Italy got a red card early. It seems like
- 3:32Speaker 3: that's what Bosnia's whole game is, Let's get you a
- 3:35Speaker 3: red card and then we'll figure it out. And then
- 3:39Speaker 3: it seems like it just seems like the refs were
- 3:44Speaker 3: against US. Now, Taylor, you're as close to a soccer
- 3:46Speaker 3: expert as we're gonna get on the show right now,
- 3:49Speaker 3: So I'm curious, did it feel like it was a
- 3:51Speaker 3: one sided match when it came to how it was officiated.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I saw a lot of jersey pulling that wasn't I
- 4:00Speaker 3: saw a lot of I saw a lot of tiki
- 4:02Speaker 3: tac calls that went against the US. I saw a
- 4:05Speaker 3: lot of really big Bosnians doing a lot of really
- 4:08Speaker 3: physical things to American players, and I saw nothing happen.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Before Taylor responds because he is the most qualified to
- 4:16Speaker 1: tell us. It's why I went to him on his
- 4:17Speaker 1: Belgium that much better than Bosnia, and he's right. It's like,
- 4:22Speaker 1: you know, it's like, you know, you're facing a sixteen
- 4:25Speaker 1: seat in Bosnia and now suddenly the next round you're
- 4:27Speaker 1: taking on like a four seat. If I was to
- 4:29Speaker 1: put it in like NCAA terms, right, But the red card,
- 4:34Speaker 1: we cannot, as US soccer fans sit here at least
- 4:37Speaker 1: I can and tell you that's a terrible red card
- 4:40Speaker 1: and he doesn't deserve it. When I've never watched a
- 4:43Speaker 1: soccer game and haven't watched the soccer game in five
- 4:46Speaker 1: fucking years, how am I qualified to tell you whether
- 4:49Speaker 1: or not that should be a red card or not?
- 4:52Speaker 1: And I will tell you this just watching the game
- 4:54Speaker 1: as a casual observer and a casual fan. Mikey, I
- 4:57Speaker 1: gotta tell you, the United States down the stretch, got
- 4:59Speaker 1: all all the calls, every single one of them was
- 5:03Speaker 1: going the US's way. They got a free kick just
- 5:05Speaker 1: outside the box that give him their second goal. And
- 5:08Speaker 1: so who am I to sweep in today and say, hey,
- 5:11Speaker 1: terrible red card.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I'll explain exactly how, because when I don't know something,
- 5:17Speaker 3: I rely on those who do. Okay, and everybody there
- 5:22Speaker 3: isn't a person out there that's like, you know what,
- 5:24Speaker 3: that was a red card?
- 5:25Speaker 1: They're like, well, listen, if you slow.
- 5:27Speaker 3: It down and you look at it from this angle,
- 5:29Speaker 3: could you interpret it maybe a little bit as that.
- 5:33Speaker 1: But yes, no, that's not what happened. That's not what happened.
- 5:37Speaker 1: They didn't even call anything on the field.
- 5:40Speaker 3: And then they're like, let's let's look at this in
- 5:42Speaker 3: super slow mo and then let's go ahead and give
- 5:45Speaker 3: this guy. Let's give this guy the biggest penalty we
- 5:48Speaker 3: can right now to not only take him out of
- 5:51Speaker 3: this match, which.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Was one nil at the time.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Sure, and then let's go ahead and remove him from
- 5:55Speaker 3: the next match.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah, good use of nil. Proud no equalizer here, Pards.
- 6:02Speaker 1: But this is where it turns. This is where I
- 6:04Speaker 1: can first that rule. So I am comfortable saying this.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You want a red card, Someone give him a red card.
- 6:10Speaker 1: He's out for the remainder of the game. The idea
- 6:12Speaker 1: that he's out in the following game is patently absurd.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I don't care. So that's a terrible rule. This is
- 6:18Speaker 1: where I can go to Taylor though, because I have
- 6:21Speaker 1: no idea. Did you feel because there was no call
- 6:24Speaker 1: on the field, so then it gets reviewed, so the
- 6:28Speaker 1: referee technically to Mikey's original point that it seemed like
- 6:32Speaker 1: the referees were against the United States, did you feel
- 6:34Speaker 1: that way?
- 6:36Speaker 5: There was no there was no intent and it wasn't malicious.
- 6:40Speaker 5: But once it went to Vaer, I felt like the
- 6:43Speaker 5: ref was always going to send off balligin with the
- 6:46Speaker 5: screenshots and the slow motion replay that he was being
- 6:49Speaker 5: presented to him. The letter of the law is it's
- 6:53Speaker 5: a challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent. Is
- 6:56Speaker 5: a direct read every time, which is why I don't
- 6:59Speaker 5: really underst the pushback.
- 7:00Speaker 4: From a lot of people in the US soccer media.
- 7:04Speaker 5: He breaks down the guy's calf high with studs and
- 7:08Speaker 5: stomps on the achilles in the ankle Stu. I think
- 7:10Speaker 5: the bigger problem is what you're saying where people are
- 7:14Speaker 5: looking at that very clearly. Baligan almost doesn't even know
- 7:18Speaker 5: that the other player is there, and it's just a
- 7:22Speaker 5: freak incident happening.
- 7:24Speaker 1: The big seam not intentional, that's it just seemed like
- 7:27Speaker 1: he was trying to make a play and stuff happens.
- 7:29Speaker 5: The bigger problem is that next match suspension where it
- 7:32Speaker 5: feels like a second half targeting penalty, where in college football,
- 7:37Speaker 5: where a player is just making a play on the ball,
- 7:40Speaker 5: he has his head in the wrong spot, he misses
- 7:42Speaker 5: the rest of the game, and then now you're telling
- 7:44Speaker 5: him he has to miss the following game too, and
- 7:46Speaker 5: it's like or the following first half of the next
- 7:49Speaker 5: game too, and it's like, it's just it's too harsh
- 7:53Speaker 5: of a penalty for a moment like that to be like,
- 7:57Speaker 5: the player really didn't mean to do that.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Uh, the the punishment doesn't fit the crime. That's I think.
- 8:04Speaker 1: If you're gonna, if you need to get mad about
- 8:06Speaker 1: something today, get mad about that. Okay. I don't think
- 8:09Speaker 1: there was any sort of you know, refs or US
- 8:11Speaker 1: against the world. The referee seemed to give us all
- 8:14Speaker 1: the calls down the stretch. Why he disagree with that?
- 8:19Speaker 1: You feel like us against the world.
- 8:23Speaker 3: That referee has Bosnian and hurts the copina blood in
- 8:27Speaker 3: his lines or something like that, whatever it is, he's
- 8:30Speaker 3: he is absolutely against the US. There's no way you
- 8:33Speaker 3: looked at that and went, you know what not only
- 8:36Speaker 3: take him out of the rest of this game and
- 8:38Speaker 3: let's try and get Bosnia shot.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Let's take him out of the next game just in case.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Absolutely, I know, but the referee doesn't control that. The
- 8:44Speaker 1: rules are the rules. He just gave him a red card.
- 8:48Speaker 1: He didn't know, But Mike, he didn't make that rule up.
- 8:50Speaker 1: The next game is not his rule. That's not him
- 8:52Speaker 1: having it, he knows it. Give him he's aware of it.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Could have given him a yellow card, right right, Well,
- 8:58Speaker 1: you have him rooting for Belgium.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Then, to Mikey's defense, FIFA does have a history of
- 9:05Speaker 5: being corrupt, I know.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Except Platter.
- 9:11Speaker 5: My biggest problem with the red card is the red
- 9:14Speaker 5: card overshadows what was a really great performance from this
- 9:19Speaker 5: US team, where yes, they looked good in the first
- 9:22Speaker 5: half with Balligan finishing that one goal. They don't concede
- 9:26Speaker 5: playing with ten men for thirty five plus minutes, where
- 9:30Speaker 5: Pachettino deserves credit tactically, where I think most managers in
- 9:34Speaker 5: the past for the US, if they get that red card,
- 9:36Speaker 5: they do the thing where they sub in all their
- 9:39Speaker 5: defensive subs, they sit back, they just try to defend
- 9:42Speaker 5: the rest of the game out and we've seen it
- 9:44Speaker 5: countless times. Every time in that situation for the US,
- 9:47Speaker 5: they concede that goal, they lose an extra time, or
- 9:50Speaker 5: they lose. In PK's most likely, USA kept attacking and
- 9:55Speaker 5: kind of led to the reason why Malik Tillman that
- 9:58Speaker 5: free kick.
- 9:59Speaker 4: You can make the argument that was awesome free kicks
- 10:02Speaker 4: in soccer.
- 10:03Speaker 5: Scoring a goal off a free kick in soccer might
- 10:05Speaker 5: be one of the best things in all of sports.
- 10:07Speaker 5: It's like a walk off home run, buzzer beater, and
- 10:10Speaker 5: probably a free kick.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Also one of the most difficult things to do in sports.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I would say, I mean the ability to do that,
- 10:16Speaker 1: to just get it over their heads. Oh my god,
- 10:18Speaker 1: I'm a soccer zell it. To just get it over
- 10:20Speaker 1: their heads and then have it go up just over
- 10:24Speaker 1: his head bend doubt. I don't know why the goal
- 10:26Speaker 1: he's given him an entire half of the goal, three
- 10:29Speaker 1: quarters of the goal that he had to dive to
- 10:31Speaker 1: make that stop. Why wouldn't he kick it there if
- 10:33Speaker 1: he can? Because he's that talent ed what a ridiculous shot.
- 10:37Speaker 1: That was crazy.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I was watching the game with my kid and he
- 10:41Speaker 3: turned to me and he goes, wow, that was cool.
- 10:43Speaker 3: And I turned to him like I'd been watching soccer
- 10:45Speaker 3: my whole life and studying tape, and I go, Tilman
- 10:48Speaker 3: gets it up and gets it down every time.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he bends it like Beckham.
- 10:53Speaker 3: He pops it right over. I knew he was going
- 10:55Speaker 3: for that corner, nailed it goal.
- 10:57Speaker 1: He had no chance, right, So you're trying because you
- 11:00Speaker 1: can't impress US, and I can't impress you. So you're
- 11:02Speaker 1: trying to impress your kid, Yes, and it works. Yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 1: your kid doesn't know any better as far as he's concerned.
- 11:07Speaker 1: You're Georgia Okinellias. I don't even know who that is.
- 11:11Speaker 1: He played for the Cosmos back in the day. Sure did.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I would give you more, but I don't have one
- 11:19Speaker 1: landed down of it.
- 11:22Speaker 5: But Stu, when you watch this team yesterday, you can
- 11:25Speaker 5: kind of you you scoffed at the notion of calling
- 11:29Speaker 5: this the golden generation of US soccer.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you're watching.
- 11:32Speaker 5: People like Malik Tillman, who comes from a club in
- 11:36Speaker 5: Germany byer Leverkusen. You're watching some of these guys playing
- 11:39Speaker 5: for some of the biggest clubs in all of Europe.
- 11:41Speaker 4: It's kind of like the USA. We've we've caught.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Up to a good portion of of the rest of
- 11:47Speaker 5: the countries in this World Cup.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Uh. Yeah, there's no doubt about it. And listen, that's
- 11:52Speaker 1: but that's all I wanted them to do, rather than
- 11:55Speaker 1: talk about it every couple of years, the soccer explosion.
- 11:58Speaker 1: We're finally gonna be good at soccer, actually be good,
- 12:01Speaker 1: and so I'm happy that they're good. They've been talking
- 12:04Speaker 1: about it since nineteen eighty. I mean, eventually they were
- 12:07Speaker 1: gonna get it right, and it seems like they've gotten
- 12:10Speaker 1: it right and to finish that game off Mandad. So
- 12:13Speaker 1: just listen, I'm still learning about soccer. I know he
- 12:16Speaker 1: can't play in the next game, and that's a travesty.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I mean, this is a kid. I am telling you.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I could guess your question. You know the question. Yeah,
- 12:25Speaker 1: they don't have to play Mandad the entire next game today.
- 12:28Speaker 4: They know.
- 12:31Speaker 1: My kid asked the same question, and they play better
- 12:33Speaker 1: man Dad. I gotta be honest.
- 12:34Speaker 4: I mean, we're gonna start with eleven next game.
- 12:37Speaker 1: It is.
- 12:38Speaker 5: It is a bit dramatic on my part to say
- 12:40Speaker 5: that the US has no chance against Belgium without Baligan,
- 12:44Speaker 5: although I do think he does make that big of
- 12:47Speaker 5: a difference for this USA team. On FanDuel, it's a
- 12:49Speaker 5: toss up USA minus one eighteen to qualify, Belgium minus
- 12:53Speaker 5: one zho two to qualify. Belgium hasn't been impressive this
- 12:58Speaker 5: World Cup. They won their group, but it was a
- 13:01Speaker 5: one to one draw against Egypt, a nil nil draw
- 13:04Speaker 5: against Iran. Yesterday they were down to nil in the
- 13:09Speaker 5: eighty fifth minute to Senegal. They look dead and then
- 13:12Speaker 5: they come back and they win that game an extra time.
- 13:15Speaker 5: The biggest advantage for the USA is home field advantage
- 13:19Speaker 5: obviously this World Cup, but even further, if the USA
- 13:22Speaker 5: could have picked the stadium to play this next game,
- 13:25Speaker 5: it would be where the game is being played in Segattle,
- 13:28Speaker 5: because that stadium traps a noise.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yeah it's and listen as it relates to the rule
- 13:34Speaker 1: of the red card and you know, having to sit
- 13:36Speaker 1: out the next game. This kid, I mean, I am
- 13:38Speaker 1: telling you, he has wanted this his entire life, all right.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I mean his family was on vacation and his mom
- 13:46Speaker 1: was seven months pregnant and the you know, the flight
- 13:49Speaker 1: crew did not allow her to get back on the
- 13:52Speaker 1: flight to go to England. And he was born here
- 13:55Speaker 1: and spent two months here and this is always ever wanted, Okay,
- 13:58Speaker 1: In those two months he realized, Hey, you know what
- 14:00Speaker 1: I want to do. I want to be a star
- 14:02Speaker 1: for the US men's national soccer team. He figured that
- 14:05Speaker 1: out in his first sixty days of breathing of living
- 14:08Speaker 1: on this earth. And what a travesty to take the
- 14:11Speaker 1: biggest moment of his life away from him because of
- 14:14Speaker 1: incidental contact, because he was trying to make a play,
- 14:17Speaker 1: because it seemed like two guys were going after something
- 14:19Speaker 1: and he happened to step on someone's ankle. You want
- 14:22Speaker 1: to throw him out for the remainder of last night's game,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I'm fine with it. But he has waited his entire
- 14:28Speaker 1: life to play in this game with a shot to
- 14:30Speaker 1: get to the semi finals of the World Cup. He
- 14:33Speaker 1: might win a balloon to something, and now we're going
- 14:36Speaker 1: to take it all away from him. It's absurd. I'm sorry.
- 14:39Speaker 1: It will be ashamed of himselves.
- 14:41Speaker 3: I mean the flight crew that didn't let his mom go.
- 14:43Speaker 3: They get a gold medal if the US wins, right and.
- 14:46Speaker 1: They get the balloon. Yeah, they get the balloon. Yes,
- 14:51Speaker 1: the lead attendant gets the golden.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Built the one that goes you know what. I can
- 14:56Speaker 3: already see the way that kid is kicking. You need
- 14:59Speaker 3: to stay here for a little bit. This has been
- 15:03Speaker 3: free marketing for airlines.
- 15:05Speaker 5: I don't know how an airline hasn't stepped up yet
- 15:08Speaker 5: to be like, hey, it was our it was our
- 15:11Speaker 5: airline that stopped this. Like United wants to come out
- 15:14Speaker 5: and get a win right now, Jeff Blue wants to
- 15:16Speaker 5: come out and win. Just put your just even if
- 15:18Speaker 5: it wasn't you, just come out and say it was us.
- 15:21Speaker 5: We were the one who stopped flow Balgin's mom from
- 15:23Speaker 5: getting on that flight.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Yes, had they known earlier, could have saved Spirit Airlines.
- 15:26Speaker 3: I mean, I'll bet there's a tweet from from Baggan's
- 15:31Speaker 3: Baggin's parents sing.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Like how does United not let me on this flight?
- 15:36Speaker 3: And they could just screenshot and go you're welcome, You're
- 15:39Speaker 3: well you think there's a complaint.
- 15:43Speaker 4: On Twitter?
- 15:45Speaker 1: She was outraged. She was outraged.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Now I missed my connection. Now I have to have
- 15:50Speaker 3: my kid in America. Didn't want to do that. United,
- 15:53Speaker 3: You're welcome.
- 15:58Speaker 1: To Tailor's credit, he said, this guy is going to
- 16:01Speaker 1: be the difference moving forward. He's been the difference. I
- 16:03Speaker 1: mean yeah, now we're now we're gonna miss him in
- 16:05Speaker 1: the next game, right because of a terrible rule that
- 16:08Speaker 1: we all now care about, because we suddenly care about Zager.
- 16:10Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 16:12Speaker 5: So going into Belgium, Belgium historically has been a team
- 16:16Speaker 5: that has had this USA's team's number. We've played them
- 16:20Speaker 5: seven times, Stu. Yeah, we're one in six all time.
- 16:24Speaker 5: Versus Belgium, and that win was in nineteen thirty at
- 16:28Speaker 5: the first ever World Cup.
- 16:31Speaker 1: It's a big one though we haven't beaten them in
- 16:37Speaker 1: ninety six years. You know what that means, right, Stu,
- 16:43Speaker 1: We're due, We're dow.
- 16:47Speaker 5: We played Belgium in one of our World Cup friendly games. Yeah, Belgium.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Belgium absolutely blew us out five to two in late March,
- 16:56Speaker 5: and Pochatino came out after the game and was like,
- 16:59Speaker 5: if this game wasn't a reality check for US, I
- 17:02Speaker 5: don't know what is. So, yes, we have to play
- 17:05Speaker 5: a team that we haven't beat since nineteen thirty and
- 17:08Speaker 5: on top of that, we are are missing our best
- 17:10Speaker 5: goal scorer.
- 17:11Speaker 4: So it's a it's a good luck situation.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm confident. First off, it's a good red
- 17:16Speaker 1: card if indeed the United States wins, he's rested, well
- 17:19Speaker 1: rested for the semi finals. And how about that. It's
- 17:23Speaker 1: a positive trying to find positives for US soccer today.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I mean, Taylor, we advanced to a place we've only
- 17:28Speaker 1: been one time before. Right, this is a good This
- 17:32Speaker 1: has been a success no matter what happens moving forward.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Is that fair?
- 17:37Speaker 3: Not only is it a success, but we have the
- 17:41Speaker 3: built in excuse if we lose.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Hey, we were kept going. Yes, yes, they kept our
- 17:46Speaker 1: best player around. He spent two months in the United
- 17:48Speaker 1: States when he was an infant. I don't know why
- 17:57Speaker 1: I'm so hung up on that. Maybe it's because I
- 17:59Speaker 1: feel like he should be able to play for the
- 18:01Speaker 1: United States. No, no, no, why he was born here
- 18:06Speaker 1: there there has against his will, his mom's will, like
- 18:11Speaker 1: he has a complaint letter.
- 18:13Speaker 5: There has never been a better walking argument for birthright citizenship.
- 18:20Speaker 5: Flow balligin coming into America because it's like I'm watching
- 18:24Speaker 5: flow Baligain play and the Supreme Courts making decisions whether
- 18:28Speaker 5: or not they want birthright citizenship. I want more flow Balgains.
- 18:33Speaker 5: I want to be as good at soccer as possible.
- 18:35Speaker 5: So maybe we have to figure out a way to
- 18:38Speaker 5: get more people to visit the United States and then
- 18:42Speaker 5: not let them fly back so we could have even
- 18:44Speaker 5: more options for our next team.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Yes, yes, we need married couples with a mom who
- 18:50Speaker 1: is seven to eight months pregnant. They decide to come
- 18:53Speaker 1: here from Italy from Spain, we met to not let
- 19:01Speaker 1: them go home until they have the child.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Listen, we have Harry kanean country. Let's not let that
- 19:07Speaker 3: guy leave until he has at least one.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Or two kids. Is he married, if his wife's pregnant,
- 19:13Speaker 1: makers stay here, doesn't matter. There's no way that dude's married.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Man Zary Bleeping Gate. You don't think they can rally here.
- 19:25Speaker 1: You don't think they'll rally. I mean, it's I understand
- 19:28Speaker 1: what you're saying. Belgium's good. It doesn't seem like they're
- 19:30Speaker 1: one of the you know, perennial powers in soccer. It
- 19:33Speaker 1: feels like a game the United States could still win
- 19:36Speaker 1: even without their best player.
- 19:38Speaker 5: So I think USA can win just because of the
- 19:41Speaker 5: fact that Belgium's not really coming in in the best
- 19:44Speaker 5: form and this USA team is riding a lot of momentum.
- 19:48Speaker 5: It's it's going to be an uphill battle for this
- 19:51Speaker 5: USA team because, like I said earlier, I think the
- 19:53Speaker 5: drop off between Baligan and the next available option up
- 19:58Speaker 5: front for this USA team is at So I think
- 20:01Speaker 5: you just need other players around, like like the Christian Polistics.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Like Christian Polistic is the golden boy of this golden
- 20:08Speaker 5: generation for the United States.
- 20:10Speaker 1: He played great last night.
- 20:11Speaker 5: This this is a situation where we need him to
- 20:14Speaker 5: really step up and right now the midfield for this
- 20:17Speaker 5: USA team, Wes McKinney, Tyler Adams, Malik Tillman that that
- 20:21Speaker 5: midfield trio is special and they won that game for
- 20:25Speaker 5: the US yesterday.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Seattle is going to be fun. We'll be close to Seattle, Taylor,
- 20:31Speaker 1: You and I will never be closer than we'll be
- 20:34Speaker 1: to Seattle. Then we'll be Monday, I'm thinking about going
- 20:38Speaker 1: to the game. What do you think I want to go,
- 20:39Speaker 1: soccer fan.
- 20:41Speaker 4: I can't afford that ticket.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I've already put in credential requests for Fox. That's what
- 20:50Speaker 1: I was up doing last night. So we'll see what
- 20:53Speaker 1: happens there. We'll see if we can get to there.
- 20:55Speaker 1: You know, you know, all the guys who are playing
- 20:57Speaker 1: in that Tahoe tournament, you know, I would say at
- 21:00Speaker 1: least half of them are going to be attending that game,
- 21:03Speaker 1: just because it's so close in proximity, you.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Know, and Monday. Historically they're not getting there Monday. The
- 21:10Speaker 5: players in that tournament.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Some guys will get there on Monday. Most will get
- 21:14Speaker 1: there on Tuesday. This is a perfect stop before you
- 21:17Speaker 1: get to Lake Tahoe for guys who don't really care
- 21:19Speaker 1: you know they're traveling private. So there, Yeah, who's.
- 21:24Speaker 5: The most likely person to get there Monday? Because it
- 21:27Speaker 5: feels like Romo's already there practicing.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Romo's been there for two weeks.
- 21:33Speaker 5: Remember when Rory won the Masters and the story came
- 21:37Speaker 5: out being like it was unfair that Rory just kept
- 21:41Speaker 5: practicing the Masters. He didn't care about any of the
- 21:44Speaker 5: tournaments leading up to it. He was just doing rounds
- 21:46Speaker 5: at Augusta. The rounds at Augusta, so he felt like
- 21:48Speaker 5: he knew the course better. That's what Tony Romo has
- 21:51Speaker 5: been doing in Tahoe since Last tah Since.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Last Taha, well, he did listen well, despite seventeen Sundays
- 21:59Speaker 1: during the nflc in, he spent every other days it's
- 22:03Speaker 1: Last Taho playing the course at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort.
- 22:08Speaker 1: You're right, that's the way Rory does because he's a
- 22:11Speaker 1: Master champion. It could play the course whenever he wants,
- 22:14Speaker 1: and Romo has won that thing two or three times,
- 22:17Speaker 1: and of course the champion and Lake Tahoe gets to
- 22:19Speaker 1: play the course whenever they want as long as they pay.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I'm not certain Romo's pay, So you have Romo never leaving.
- 22:27Speaker 1: He just stayed at the hotel. He lives there.
- 22:30Speaker 5: Yeah, he has the way people have, like residencies in Vegas,
- 22:34Speaker 5: Romo has residency in Tahoe.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I think Romo spots a weakness, Like I think he
- 22:40Speaker 1: is grinding today because he knows guys like Marty Fish
- 22:44Speaker 1: and Feeling and all these guys that contend with him
- 22:47Speaker 1: every year they're going to the soccer game. Romo knows it,
- 22:50Speaker 1: and this is a business trip. He has no interest
- 22:52Speaker 1: in USA soccer. He has every interest in winning the
- 22:56Speaker 1: Lake Tahoe Golf tournament. Marty, you guys go watch soccer.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I'll be right here on the range, Okay, getting ready
- 23:03Speaker 1: for the tournament. I'm gonna put a flyer on Roma,
- 23:05Speaker 1: which is not really a flyer. I'm assuming he's one
- 23:07Speaker 1: of the favorites. Before we wrap it up here, guys,
- 23:12Speaker 1: six or Celtics. I cannot believe it took us this
- 23:14Speaker 1: long USA Soccer man, That's unbelievable how much people are
- 23:20Speaker 1: into this. That was one of the weirdest trades. I've
- 23:24Speaker 1: been doing this for a long time, man, Jalen Brown
- 23:28Speaker 1: being traded is not the big deal. Being traded inside
- 23:33Speaker 1: the conference to a rival who just not too out
- 23:35Speaker 1: of the playoffs, and you made them better in your
- 23:38Speaker 1: team worse is laugh out loud funny. I just don't
- 23:41Speaker 1: get it. I do not understand it. There is no
- 23:44Speaker 1: way that that was the best offer they had for
- 23:48Speaker 1: Jalen Brown. It's just all of it seems odd. I
- 23:51Speaker 1: can't make any sense of it. What do you guys think.
- 23:54Speaker 5: It's a case where in the lead up to this trade,
- 23:58Speaker 5: every mock trade you solve Jalen Brown going out to
- 24:03Speaker 5: another team, and the packages coming back to Boston were
- 24:06Speaker 5: somehow all better than the actual package that they wound
- 24:11Speaker 5: up getting for him, where it's like Paul George is
- 24:14Speaker 5: just a much older version of Jalen Brown with a
- 24:19Speaker 5: bad contract. You're getting back the second round picks. Who
- 24:23Speaker 5: really cares about second round picks? You could have forty
- 24:26Speaker 5: five second round picks and attach them to every trade
- 24:30Speaker 5: because of how pretty much pointless they are. And then
- 24:33Speaker 5: two first round picks. Okay, you got two first round
- 24:36Speaker 5: picks back for Jalen Brown, but you traded him to
- 24:39Speaker 5: a core of VJ. Edgecomb and Tyrese Maxi, two players
- 24:43Speaker 5: that are either not in their prime yet or in
- 24:46Speaker 5: their prime, and about to be in their prime. What
- 24:49Speaker 5: are those two first round picks best case scenario in
- 24:52Speaker 5: the mid twenties.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, Mikey's shaking his head because when you hear
- 24:57Speaker 1: him say the lineup and what they just adm ed
- 25:00Speaker 1: to that lineup and the fact that they were up
- 25:03Speaker 1: though down three one to the Celtics who had Jalen
- 25:05Speaker 1: Brown and ended up losing that series to the Sixers
- 25:09Speaker 1: in seven games. Like when you hear Edgecombe and Maxi
- 25:13Speaker 1: and Jalen Brown and Joel Embiid, you're thinking to yourself,
- 25:18Speaker 1: why can't the Sixers get to the NBA Finals? Now?
- 25:21Speaker 1: Of course they can.
- 25:23Speaker 3: This feels like such a panic move by Boston that
- 25:27Speaker 3: I can't even I can't even understand the logical thinking
- 25:31Speaker 3: to say, you know what we're gonna get. We're gonna
- 25:33Speaker 3: get a shell of a guy who was good years
- 25:36Speaker 3: ago but still can't win, and we're gonna give up
- 25:39Speaker 3: this player just because he's unhappy right now. Like, I can't,
- 25:43Speaker 3: for the life of me understand why you would make
- 25:47Speaker 3: this deal. I understand you wanted to get rid of
- 25:49Speaker 3: Jalen Brown. I understand that that you were already too
- 25:53Speaker 3: far down that road because you were trying to get
- 25:56Speaker 3: him for. This is a guy you were looking to
- 25:58Speaker 3: move for Giannis, and in dead you got Paul George.
- 26:03Speaker 1: It's acceptable when you're trying to move him for Giannis.
- 26:06Speaker 1: It is unacceptable when you actually move him for Paul
- 26:10Speaker 1: George and a bunch of draft picks. And I don't
- 26:12Speaker 1: care that they dangled him. It's a business. You hear
- 26:15Speaker 1: players say it all the time. I get it, I
- 26:17Speaker 1: understand it. It's one of the first lessons you learn
- 26:19Speaker 1: this is a business. Just because he's disgruntled, just because
- 26:25Speaker 1: you dangled in in front of the Bucks and made
- 26:28Speaker 1: it public to get back one of the all time
- 26:30Speaker 1: great players and talents we've ever seen in the NBA.
- 26:34Speaker 1: When that doesn't go through, it doesn't mean you're obligated
- 26:38Speaker 1: to trade him. You made your team worst yesterday. You
- 26:41Speaker 1: did not make your team better. That is a terrible,
- 26:44Speaker 1: terrible job by Brad Stevens and a great job by
- 26:48Speaker 1: the guy that took over for Darryl Moury.
- 26:50Speaker 4: I mean, all they needed to do is get rid
- 26:53Speaker 4: of Darryl Morey.
- 26:54Speaker 1: You said it.
- 26:56Speaker 5: This report came from Adam Himmelsbotch from the Boston Glo
- 27:00Speaker 5: Celtics writer. He said, one thing that's been reiterated to
- 27:03Speaker 5: me by sources today was that Jalen Brown never asked
- 27:06Speaker 5: out or requested a trade.
- 27:08Speaker 1: It's amazing, Stu.
- 27:11Speaker 5: I'm going to the USA game yesterday and we have
- 27:14Speaker 5: to get to this bar early because it was gonna
- 27:16Speaker 5: get packed. I get there around six o'clock, two hours early.
- 27:20Speaker 5: People are like, oh, let's watch the pregame, Let's watch
- 27:23Speaker 5: the pregame coverage. Let's watch the end of the the
- 27:26Speaker 5: Senegal Belgium match.
- 27:29Speaker 4: The second the trade breaks. This is what I do
- 27:31Speaker 4: I have.
- 27:32Speaker 5: I always have my air pods with me, and I say,
- 27:35Speaker 5: you never know when you're gonna need to listen to something.
- 27:37Speaker 5: I say, I'm gonna tune you guys out right now. Sorry,
- 27:40Speaker 5: I put my AirPods in. You crank up, weei and
- 27:44Speaker 5: I just I just went to town listening. They were
- 27:47Speaker 5: all calling in this is the worst trade ever. They're
- 27:50Speaker 5: comparing it to the Luca Anthony Davis trade. They're saying
- 27:54Speaker 5: it's not even comparable to that trade. It's that much worse,
- 27:57Speaker 5: some guys are saying. One guy ended the phone call saying,
- 28:01Speaker 5: I'm gonna go drive through a telephone point.
- 28:03Speaker 1: That's how you do it. I mean, that's how Boston
- 28:05Speaker 1: Sports Radio does it. That's it. Yeah, he did some
- 28:09Speaker 1: Pelly in West West Hampton. Right.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Some people accuse Brad Stevens of getting a little botomy.
- 28:17Speaker 5: I'm just listening to this and everybody at the bar
- 28:20Speaker 5: is like, why are you smiling so much? I'm like,
- 28:22Speaker 5: I think the Knicks broke the Eastern Conference.
- 28:25Speaker 1: They did. That's crazy. Everyone's trying to chase them doing
- 28:28Speaker 1: ridiculous things. I mean, listen, they're a good champion. They're
- 28:32Speaker 1: not a great old time green tea. They're good.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I mean, speaking of the Eastern Conference. I'm sitting there going, man,
- 28:39Speaker 3: Boston might might be moving Jalen Brown, and they could
- 28:42Speaker 3: get better, and this could be this could be scary
- 28:44Speaker 3: because the Celtics are always such a good organization and
- 28:47Speaker 3: they've got pieces and then all of a sudden you
- 28:50Speaker 3: look at it and you're like, I'm not worried about Boston.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Now you got to worry be worried about Philadelphia for
- 28:54Speaker 3: a while.
- 28:55Speaker 1: That's the craziest thing. How do you do that inside
- 28:57Speaker 1: your own conference? I just Boston and Philly.
- 29:04Speaker 5: What Mikey, Mike, you have to be worried about Philadelphia.
- 29:10Speaker 5: But when you have to be worried about Philadelphia, you
- 29:12Speaker 5: have to preface it by saying if and B could
- 29:15Speaker 5: stay healthy, which wow, is maybe the biggest bigot.
- 29:18Speaker 4: It's the biggest if at all sports.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yes, but I'm more concerned about Philadelphia, and this was
- 29:23Speaker 1: not the case yesterday. I'm more concerned about the Sixers
- 29:26Speaker 1: that I am the Celtics. And yeah, yeah, it's just
- 29:31Speaker 1: so weird. And by the way, you don't have to
- 29:33Speaker 1: trade it. And where is Jason Tatum? Why does Tatum
- 29:36Speaker 1: not come out and say, hey, I'm the leader on
- 29:38Speaker 1: this team. We're better with Jalen Brown. You want to
- 29:42Speaker 1: trade him for Giannis, that's one thing, but trading him
- 29:45Speaker 1: for Paul George does not make us better. Do not
- 29:48Speaker 1: do that trade. And it makes you think that Tatum
- 29:51Speaker 1: desperately wanted them to get this done, that he was
- 29:54Speaker 1: tired of Jalen Brown, and the Celtics chose Jason Tatum.
- 29:58Speaker 1: They did not choose Jalen Brown. Here's the thing true leadership.
- 30:03Speaker 1: You don't have to make a choice. You tell Jason Tatum, hey,
- 30:07Speaker 1: you're stuck with Jalen Brown. You guys want a title together.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Figure it out. What if Lebron goes to Philadelphia? Oh
- 30:15Speaker 1: my god, and why wouldn't he now think of that lineup? Edgecombe,
- 30:27Speaker 1: Maxie Indeed big if sometimes Jaylen Brown and Lebron James,
- 30:38Speaker 1: Oh my god. I mean, who's getting bigger numbers today,
- 30:45Speaker 1: WIP or the sports ub
- 30:50Speaker 4: Bill Simmons
