- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to Artists on Artists on Artists and artists
- 0:06Speaker 1: on Zoom, The Last of Us, Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog.
- 0:11Speaker 2: These are all.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Characters and video games that people love to play and
- 0:16Speaker 1: also to watch.
- 0:18Speaker 3: The world of adapting video games into movies is rapidly growing,
- 0:22Speaker 3: and these next creators we talk to are changing the
- 0:26Speaker 3: landscape for beep boop, beep good.
- 0:29Speaker 4: This conversation is going to give you a little insight
- 0:32Speaker 4: into what it looks like when Hollywood picks up the
- 0:34Speaker 4: game controller.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So press power, press pause, and listen.
- 0:39Speaker 3: In Hi, everybody, where are where are we all coming from?
- 0:46Speaker 3: Are you guys in la?
- 0:48Speaker 1: Ah?
- 0:48Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 0:48Speaker 1: Now I'm in Arkansas. I'm in Arkansas. I'm in Fayetteville.
- 0:53Speaker 1: We're on set. Actually, we're shooting the movie. So Hi, y'all.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Great to say, y'all. How's it going, y'all?
- 0:58Speaker 4: Hey, guys, what's up? I'm so excited to be here.
- 1:01Speaker 4: I'm I'm coming from to you from Seattle.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah, guys, Hey, what's up. I'm so excited to be here. Uh. Yeah,
- 1:11Speaker 2: I'm coming from Los Angeles Burbank area.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And which is which one is it?
- 1:18Speaker 2: I'm coming from Los Angeles Burbank area, the city on
- 1:21Speaker 2: the border of both of those cities, on the border,
- 1:27Speaker 2: right near Bob Hope Drive.
- 1:33Speaker 6: Okay, i'd say that's Burbank.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Yeah, i'd say Burbank.
- 1:36Speaker 2: A lot of people I'd say it's Burbank. But it's
- 1:38Speaker 2: right on the border. Let me tell you, right next
- 1:41Speaker 2: to the right next to I have a big house,
- 1:44Speaker 2: right next to the graveyard. Or it's lawn, forest lawn.
- 1:48Speaker 4: There you go.
- 1:50Speaker 3: We usually call it forest lawn instead of the graveyard.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Well yeah, well non locals call it that. I'm a local, So.
- 1:58Speaker 1: He's a Borderman. What's the lock being on the bord.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's wild, it's wild. It's absolutely insane being on the
- 2:04Speaker 2: border of such giant metropolitan areas seeing culture, divide of
- 2:11Speaker 2: culture is insane.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Yeah, what's going on in Burbank versus what's going on
- 2:15Speaker 6: in you?
- 2:16Speaker 2: Guys? If I told you, you wouldn't believe it. The difference.
- 2:19Speaker 2: It just like it's how people say hi, it's how
- 2:22Speaker 2: people greet you. It's the stores that you go to,
- 2:25Speaker 2: it's the kind of restaurants that you would go to.
- 2:28Speaker 2: It's crazy. Yeah, is that enough?
- 2:30Speaker 3: They certainly don't have a Milton needies in Los Angeles.
- 2:33Speaker 6: I'll tell you.
- 2:34Speaker 2: That, No, they don't, they don't.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And a donner? What kind of thing is that?
- 2:38Speaker 2: Is that?
- 2:38Speaker 1: A donner?
- 2:40Speaker 3: That's incredible, an incredible question. It is a popcorn restaurant
- 2:45Speaker 3: that also does laundry.
- 2:47Speaker 2: So what's a popcorn restaurant?
- 2:49Speaker 3: So you walk in and there is free popcorn and
- 2:52Speaker 3: little Dixie cups of water, and then I have my
- 2:55Speaker 3: assistant drop off my laundry.
- 2:56Speaker 6: This is what she tells me.
- 2:58Speaker 3: And I say, oh, are you going to the popcorn restaurant?
- 3:00Speaker 3: And she's like, yeah, I'm doing your laundry. We have
- 3:03Speaker 3: this hilarious back and forth all day long.
- 3:06Speaker 2: She's man, that's so funny.
- 3:08Speaker 3: This is a shout out to Samantha because she's incredible.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Maybe we take a second to shout out all of
- 3:14Speaker 2: our assistants. That would be great.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Oh I'd love to do that. I'd love to do that.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Big round of applause for Dylan.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, huge for Dylan, Huge shout Dylan, mm hm, Dylan, Samantha,
- 3:27Speaker 2: I would love to give a shout out to my
- 3:29Speaker 2: son Gregory. He's a wonderful boy and a great assistant.
- 3:33Speaker 1: So I'm dying to know.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Let's let's get into it. I want to know hold.
- 3:37Speaker 1: On a man, and I was interrupted. I interrupted, uh
- 3:40Speaker 1: friend over here talking about the border town of Bourbon,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Los Angeles, and then we didn't get the introduction from
- 3:47Speaker 1: from this person right here.
- 3:48Speaker 4: So sorry, I'm sorry.
- 3:49Speaker 6: I'm so funny. Locations just make me laugh.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I am in West Hollywood.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Okay, okay, that's funny.
- 3:58Speaker 6: Sorry, I giggle every time I hear it.
- 4:01Speaker 2: M's so funny, funny. What's funny about that?
- 4:05Speaker 3: I mean it's hysterical because we've got this compass and
- 4:08Speaker 3: nobody's really using it.
- 4:09Speaker 6: Because we have ways.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Now, and we're still assigning directions to different towns like
- 4:15Speaker 3: we're eighteenth century soldiers, Like what is West Virginia? What
- 4:19Speaker 3: are we talking about? Oh God, I can't stop laughing.
- 4:26Speaker 1: That's all right. Why do we still use directions when
- 4:28Speaker 1: we have ways? That's a really fun.
- 4:29Speaker 2: It's honestly, that could be a movie kind of like
- 4:32Speaker 2: the change like what Ways did to the industry of
- 4:35Speaker 2: directions of coming fantastic.
- 4:38Speaker 6: So you say some movie we should talk about, that.
- 4:40Speaker 2: We should talk about.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Let's all write that down because the ways movies.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Really, that's mine, mine, mine, mine.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Okay, mine is yours.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I guess if yours, I would love to work on
- 4:50Speaker 2: it for you guys, but it's mine, it's mine.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Well you did you did say something that is really
- 4:56Speaker 1: interesting to me, which is that should be a movie.
- 4:58Speaker 1: It's something we probably all say because we've made movies
- 5:01Speaker 1: out of things that aren't frequently or previously movies. Right,
- 5:05Speaker 1: we're the kind of people that look at something we go, oh,
- 5:07Speaker 1: that should be a movie, and that's all of our movies.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah, let's get to it. I mean, I'm so interested
- 5:12Speaker 2: to sit with you guys on zoom and figure out,
- 5:14Speaker 2: you know, how your movies came to be and what
- 5:18Speaker 2: importance you saw in your movies.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Haven't we all go around, we say our names, and
- 5:21Speaker 1: then we say what movie we're working on?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Love that that sounds great?
- 5:26Speaker 3: I'll go I'm Lisa Blazer and I wrote the Claw
- 5:32Speaker 3: Machine movie. So it is a full blown, big budget,
- 5:37Speaker 3: big flashy, incredible name animated adaptation of everyone's favorite video game,
- 5:45Speaker 3: The Claw Machine.
- 5:47Speaker 4: You put air quotes around, wrote.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Oh, well, I like to do that for legal. I
- 5:53Speaker 3: wrote it in that I hired the most amazing writer
- 5:57Speaker 3: and I said, I have your next idea and she
- 6:03Speaker 3: says okay, and I said, are you sitting down? And
- 6:07Speaker 3: she said yes, and I said claw Machine. She asked
- 6:11Speaker 3: me many follow up questions which I did not answer,
- 6:15Speaker 3: and I knew she would pull it off, and she did.
- 6:18Speaker 6: Are we are?
- 6:19Speaker 3: We were familiar with Rosa, with Rosa, Rosa Rosa.
- 6:26Speaker 6: Yeah, So anyway, that's my deal. I am.
- 6:31Speaker 3: And a Claw Machine Nation hits theaters in November twenty
- 6:36Speaker 3: twenty three, and we're very excited to announce we haven't
- 6:41Speaker 3: actually announced this yet, that Jack Black will be playing
- 6:45Speaker 3: the Claw and Rebel Wilson would be playing the machine.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Oh, different voices. It's not one voice for the claw machine.
- 6:54Speaker 3: So we dig into this in the story a little bit,
- 6:57Speaker 3: but we view the claw and the machine is completely
- 6:59Speaker 3: different at to tees and it's a story of two
- 7:02Speaker 3: beings sort of working together to solve a problem.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Like a Romeo and Juliet.
- 7:09Speaker 6: Yes, exactly.
- 7:14Speaker 4: A problem.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's nice.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And it's like star cross levers because one of them
- 7:18Speaker 1: is literally already inside the other one. It's like if
- 7:21Speaker 1: I fell in love with my tongue.
- 7:25Speaker 2: It is.
- 7:25Speaker 3: It's exactly like when you know those little oh my god,
- 7:29Speaker 3: what are they I'm obsessed with them. It's like the
- 7:32Speaker 3: the little cleaner fish that live inside the bigger fish's mouth.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Are you talking about plecostumus is the type of fish
- 7:38Speaker 1: that's in a fish tank. And then the remoras you're
- 7:40Speaker 1: talking about on the bottom of the shark and stuff.
- 7:42Speaker 6: Oh my god.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Absolutely, that's a movie.
- 7:46Speaker 2: That's a movie.
- 7:47Speaker 1: It is a movie. It's actually I'm doing it after
- 7:49Speaker 1: my movie Aquarium. In the movie, I'm working on.
- 7:50Speaker 6: That aquarium metaphore huge.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's okay, next I can go uh yeah.
- 8:01Speaker 2: My name is doctor Phyllis Jones, and.
- 8:07Speaker 4: We have a doctor in the house.
- 8:10Speaker 6: What kind of doctor.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I'm a doctor of psychology. I'm a doctor of psychology
- 8:18Speaker 2: who has switched into producing movies. And I've got a
- 8:22Speaker 2: big movie coming out. It's called Charades. It's about the
- 8:28Speaker 2: origin story of how the game that we all know
- 8:31Speaker 2: and love that changed parties forever came.
- 8:34Speaker 1: To It's a prequel to the game.
- 8:38Speaker 2: It's a prequel to the game. It's kind of how
- 8:40Speaker 2: the game got developed. And I will reveal that you're
- 8:44Speaker 2: going to see, you know, it's kind of like the
- 8:46Speaker 2: rise in the fall of the creator of the game.
- 8:49Speaker 2: You know, what happens when the fame of such a
- 8:52Speaker 2: successful party game gets to your head?
- 8:54Speaker 6: And who is that creator?
- 8:57Speaker 2: The creator of charades? He he's a guy named Marvin.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Geck, Marvin Gek.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Yeah, he is a fascinating person and I got to
- 9:11Speaker 2: follow him. It follows the life of Marvin Geck kind
- 9:15Speaker 2: of right when he starts the game to kind of
- 9:18Speaker 2: the sad ending of where he is now in his life.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And I don't want to reveal too much. He's still alive, barely,
- 9:27Speaker 2: but he's still alive, got it, still just holding off.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Think good thoughts for him.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:36Speaker 2: So me and my son we were playing charades and
- 9:39Speaker 2: I said, how did this come to be? You know?
- 9:40Speaker 2: And my son goes, well, I just look at this
- 9:42Speaker 2: Wikipedia article. Turns out to be the most fascinating story
- 9:46Speaker 2: you would ever read about an individual and what happened
- 9:49Speaker 2: to this man named Marvin Gek who invented the game
- 9:52Speaker 2: of charades? How it got invented, you know, in the
- 9:56Speaker 2: life and trials of the man. You know.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm so glad that Wikipedia is here because
- 10:02Speaker 3: there are.
- 10:03Speaker 6: So what would we do movies?
- 10:05Speaker 2: Yes, what would we do? Sometimes I'll just click and
- 10:08Speaker 2: click and click and click until I find a good story,
- 10:10Speaker 2: you know.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they call my agent.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll buy the IP immediately.
- 10:15Speaker 4: What about you, sir.
- 10:17Speaker 1: My name is Danny Krabtree. I am a director. I
- 10:20Speaker 1: live in Arkansas, and I am proud to be the
- 10:25Speaker 1: creator and director and writer of the upcoming Big Buck
- 10:30Speaker 1: Hunter for Disney Plus.
- 10:33Speaker 2: It's on Disney Plus.
- 10:35Speaker 1: It's on Disney Plus. It is a limited series technically
- 10:38Speaker 1: a movie. That's why I'm here.
- 10:39Speaker 6: You know.
- 10:40Speaker 1: We were shooting it and we said, we have a
- 10:42Speaker 1: lot more story to tell than just this one and
- 10:44Speaker 1: a half hours. So they said, okay, we'll give you
- 10:47Speaker 1: some more money. We give money out, let's fire about
- 10:49Speaker 1: forty to fifty more people were able to give you
- 10:51Speaker 1: more money. So they did that, and they I think
- 10:54Speaker 1: they got rid of, like, you know, a quarter of
- 10:56Speaker 1: their hr in Shanghai. And then we got to make
- 10:58Speaker 1: more horror movie, which.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Is really nice, absolute incredible.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I love them over there. They've been so nice to me.
- 11:06Speaker 1: We had a lot of fun adapting Big Buck Hunter.
- 11:09Speaker 1: You might know it as that game that you play
- 11:10Speaker 1: when you're drinking at a dive bar. You never want
- 11:13Speaker 1: to go back to the only thing that you can
- 11:15Speaker 1: stare at when everything else is covered in swastikas and
- 11:18Speaker 1: other disgusting things. At a dive bar, you know, either
- 11:21Speaker 1: watch too Toudy's Makeout or play Big Buck Hunter. That's
- 11:23Speaker 1: what we do. So, wow, it's really fun. We've been
- 11:26Speaker 1: adapting it. We've been having a lot of fun. We
- 11:28Speaker 1: kind of took a Mandalorian take on it. So the
- 11:31Speaker 1: Big Buck Hunter himself is a mysterious character who goes
- 11:35Speaker 1: to different wear.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Does he wear a mask? Do you ever get to
- 11:38Speaker 2: see his face?
- 11:39Speaker 1: He wears a big hat that covers his eyes.
- 11:42Speaker 6: Oh, sort of.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Yeah. If Cia is a trucker, imagine that and.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I weirdly can, I weirdly can. Yeah.
- 11:51Speaker 1: So there's a rumor that she is a trucker and
- 11:53Speaker 1: we called her to see if she was available, and
- 11:55Speaker 1: she said, I can't do the wiga in the hat
- 11:56Speaker 1: and he said, well, maybe take the wig off and
- 11:58Speaker 1: she literally hung up and literally, don't ask see to
- 12:03Speaker 1: take your wig off. Trust me. We got letters from her.
- 12:07Speaker 1: She wrote me thirty letters. It was crazy. She wrote
- 12:10Speaker 1: me a lot of letters. How dare you asking me
- 12:12Speaker 1: to take my wig off? I'm never gonna do that anything,
- 12:14Speaker 1: that's incredible. But yeah, so go to different cities and
- 12:17Speaker 1: and and he and he hunts he hunts bucks and
- 12:20Speaker 1: it's really fun. It's been hard on Disney Plus because
- 12:23Speaker 1: they obviously don't want us killing animals because they did
- 12:25Speaker 1: make us make the animals talk, so it's very complicated.
- 12:29Speaker 2: But that was interesting because I read in the deadline
- 12:31Speaker 2: they're trying to tie in the Bambi ip into Big
- 12:34Speaker 2: Buck Hunter.
- 12:35Speaker 1: There's a big crossover, just like in Mandalorian when they
- 12:37Speaker 1: when they.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Trying to open up the universe.
- 12:40Speaker 1: And I don't want to spoil it, but at the
- 12:41Speaker 1: end of season one, uh, there is a situation where yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 1: he stumbles into Bambi I p and uh, let's just
- 12:50Speaker 1: say we find out who the faceless killer in uh
- 12:54Speaker 1: the movie is. It's it's Big Gun.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I'm so interested to see how they saved his character
- 13:00Speaker 2: after that is a huge.
- 13:03Speaker 3: It's hard it any did you write that's redeemable?
- 13:09Speaker 1: You're saying, I'm saying, you're saying they figured it out.
- 13:12Speaker 1: They's me, My gosh, pays me. I've been trying to
- 13:16Speaker 1: figure it out. So what I've been doing is I've
- 13:18Speaker 1: been just kind of writing that he donates to a
- 13:20Speaker 1: lot of charities.
- 13:23Speaker 2: That's always a good way to save. If you want
- 13:26Speaker 2: to make as like screenwriting one on one for anybody listening,
- 13:28Speaker 2: if you want to make a character likable and redeemable,
- 13:31Speaker 2: just say that they donate to a lot of charities.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Checks You can do whatever you want. They can do
- 13:39Speaker 3: anything in the movie. But if they donate to Goodwill,
- 13:42Speaker 3: if they drop off a bag of clothes at the end,
- 13:44Speaker 3: one bag done.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Saved, that's so exciting. The hunter, as we call him,
- 13:50Speaker 1: he in the back seat. He has a bag, a
- 13:54Speaker 1: trash bag full of old flannel shirts. And you see
- 13:57Speaker 1: it in the back of his truck, in the back
- 13:59Speaker 1: seat of his Silverado, just driving around and you see
- 14:03Speaker 1: it every time and he and he drives by and
- 14:05Speaker 1: he goes, is it time for me to donate? And
- 14:07Speaker 1: then of course, wow, I can't because he has more
- 14:10Speaker 1: hunting to do.
- 14:11Speaker 4: But isn't that the sequel to Save the Cat? That
- 14:16Speaker 4: screenwriting book? It's screen Uh, save the cat? And then
- 14:20Speaker 4: save the Cat too? Is bag of flannels in the trunk?
- 14:24Speaker 5: Oh?
- 14:24Speaker 2: I love that. That needs to be a movie. Save
- 14:27Speaker 2: the Cat too. Bag of Flannels in the in the
- 14:28Speaker 2: trunk it's such.
- 14:29Speaker 1: A good idea. I would love to see a movie
- 14:31Speaker 1: based on a book about screenwriters.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Hey, guys, so glad to be here. I'm JK. I'm
- 14:37Speaker 4: a video game developer turned filmmaker, so this is new
- 14:40Speaker 4: for me. Filmmaking is new for me. I grew up
- 14:42Speaker 4: making video games. Some of you guys know my dad
- 14:46Speaker 4: is Jeremy pac Man. He created pac Man, the legend him.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 4: One might say I'm a game nepotism baby, but I
- 14:56Speaker 4: didn't grow up in Hollywood.
- 14:57Speaker 6: That's catchy.
- 14:58Speaker 4: I'm kind of learning Hollywood. But I'm really glad to
- 15:03Speaker 4: be here. I worked on a movie that's about to
- 15:05Speaker 4: come out, my first ever movie and I'm the first
- 15:08Speaker 4: ever first time director for sim screenwriter. Is we sports
- 15:12Speaker 4: the movie? And I'm really excited about it.
- 15:13Speaker 2: What kind of movie is this? Is it like an
- 15:15Speaker 2: animated or is it kind of like? What? What? What
- 15:18Speaker 2: is the movie like?
- 15:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 15:19Speaker 4: So it is a similar to Space Jam, where we
- 15:22Speaker 4: are combining live action and animation together. We are having
- 15:26Speaker 4: a lot of starring freakin' dare I say? I mean
- 15:31Speaker 4: it's already been released, but Helen Mirren, we yeah.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Like the same sort of de aging technology that's been
- 15:42Speaker 3: going crazy. Y you did the same thing to make
- 15:45Speaker 3: Helen Mirran Space look like one of those mes.
- 15:48Speaker 4: No, we have Helen Mirren playing the me, and the
- 15:53Speaker 4: technology behind this was absolutely incredible. And we have a Sree,
- 15:59Speaker 4: the the Serena Williams. Y Serena Williams is the lead
- 16:06Speaker 4: of our tennis storyline. We have a couple of storylines
- 16:09Speaker 4: weaving together, all brought to you together by.
- 16:12Speaker 6: Oh my God, like Valentine's Day.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Not really, though, we have three main storylines bowling, tennis,
- 16:19Speaker 4: and we walking, which, believe it or not, we made
- 16:22Speaker 4: just for the movie. It doesn't exist in the game.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I do believe you made this for the movie.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great. So just a quick question, how is
- 16:28Speaker 2: it more like Space Jam and less like Valentine's Day.
- 16:32Speaker 2: That's where I'm a little loss.
- 16:33Speaker 4: So Helen Mirren is the me, which is a animated character,
- 16:40Speaker 4: and we are putting the animated character in a live
- 16:43Speaker 4: action like tennis tournament or a bowling alley.
- 16:46Speaker 2: We filled Helen Marry the actress, gets sucked into the
- 16:50Speaker 2: world of we sports and now has to compete in
- 16:54Speaker 2: all these different sports to survive.
- 16:56Speaker 1: But it sounds like she gets sucked in. But then
- 17:00Speaker 1: so she turns into a me and then she goes
- 17:02Speaker 1: to a real bowling alley.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Yes, and then she's at a bowling alley in Van Eyes. Okay,
- 17:08Speaker 4: and that's what's crazy. I mean, guys, I'm sitting at
- 17:10Speaker 4: a table, and I think all of us can agree.
- 17:13Speaker 4: High concept, high concept, high concept.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Absolutely fill it with stuff.
- 17:18Speaker 3: With stuff, spell it with stuff, take stuff, fill it
- 17:22Speaker 3: with stuff.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Make a movie.
- 17:23Speaker 2: That was I was going to take you know, what
- 17:25Speaker 2: are the liberties you guys are taking in the movies,
- 17:28Speaker 2: because there's a you know, the IP doesn't always give
- 17:31Speaker 2: you everything. You've got to take liberties, and we're sitting
- 17:34Speaker 2: at it.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Sure literally doesn't give you everything.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that should be a movie. That should be a movie.
- 17:39Speaker 1: That should be.
- 17:42Speaker 6: That should be IP, which in turn should be a movie.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:45Speaker 3: I'll say we took a lot of liberties with the
- 17:49Speaker 3: fact that the claw machine in real life does not
- 17:52Speaker 3: talk right, so we had to come up.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I was going to ask you that, like, how did
- 17:57Speaker 2: you guys get around that? Because that seems like a.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Really tough And this was something I debated with with
- 18:03Speaker 3: Rosa for like a long time because she brought me
- 18:06Speaker 3: in this first draft where you know the claw Machine,
- 18:09Speaker 3: and at this point it was all one thing, which
- 18:11Speaker 3: I'm so glad we killed because we found this wonderful
- 18:14Speaker 3: thing where it's two different actors.
- 18:17Speaker 6: But she would come in with this.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Draft where the claw Machine was talking and it was
- 18:22Speaker 3: a story about being yourself like that didn't fit in
- 18:25Speaker 3: with the other video games. And I said, Rosa, I
- 18:29Speaker 3: have a problem. Claw machines don't talk. I need to rewrite.
- 18:33Speaker 3: And so she came back in and she was hesitant.
- 18:36Speaker 3: She thought that the movie would be a little static.
- 18:41Speaker 3: And then I read the rewrite. There was no dialogue
- 18:43Speaker 3: in it, and I said, Rosa, this is not a
- 18:45Speaker 3: silent film.
- 18:47Speaker 6: And then she came.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Back and she added more dialogue, and it was upsetting
- 18:50Speaker 3: to me. And so we kind of went back and
- 18:53Speaker 3: forth and back and forth between talking and no talking,
- 18:56Speaker 3: and talking and no talking, and we gradually landed on
- 18:59Speaker 3: this fantastic final product where half the time the claw
- 19:03Speaker 3: Machine is talking, and then half the time its voice
- 19:07Speaker 3: is stolen by Ursula, who's a different character.
- 19:10Speaker 6: In in in the.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Is she.
- 19:16Speaker 6: No So Ursula plays an Ursula is.
- 19:20Speaker 3: An octopus in the daven Buster's game, where you reel
- 19:25Speaker 3: in Fish.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Okay, so that sounds very similar to and Ursula steals
- 19:31Speaker 1: the claw Machine's voice because that's so that's exactly so
- 19:35Speaker 1: so Ursula in the Little Have you seen Little Mermaid?
- 19:38Speaker 1: It's by Disney.
- 19:39Speaker 6: This is what Rosa said, and it really confused me.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so this was your pitch.
- 19:46Speaker 6: Yeah, this was based on a dream I had, So
- 19:49Speaker 6: I don't.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Think it was a dream.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Can I ask? Does the machine make maybe a deal
- 19:55Speaker 2: with the octopus to like win something or maybe be
- 19:59Speaker 2: a video game or something.
- 20:01Speaker 6: Yeah, now you're thinking like a screenwriter.
- 20:03Speaker 3: So yes, she gives her her voice away in exchange
- 20:07Speaker 3: for being a popular game, for getting a slot in
- 20:11Speaker 3: the new arcade built down the street called Donnie and Bingos.
- 20:15Speaker 6: And so this sort.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Of this octopus character escapes from her video game to
- 20:21Speaker 3: make this deal, and you'll have to see what happens
- 20:25Speaker 3: in the end. But it followed my dream very closely.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Wow, when did you have this dream?
- 20:35Speaker 6: You have a date specific, So it was so funny.
- 20:40Speaker 3: I had this dream right after So, uh, I had
- 20:47Speaker 3: this dream right after Disney put out this trailer starring
- 20:52Speaker 3: do you know Chloe and Hal the.
- 20:57Speaker 6: Yes, they're fantastic they're two artists.
- 20:59Speaker 3: And one of them is in some sort of movie.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I never saw the trailer, but I did have a
- 21:05Speaker 3: dream about this sort of octopus character named Ursula, and
- 21:10Speaker 3: I woke up and I said, oh my god, I'm
- 21:12Speaker 3: a genius.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Who's playing her in the movie.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Well in the movie, it's Melissa McCarthy, okay, in your movie?
- 21:20Speaker 4: In your movie? Yeah, okay.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Well I dreamed it up that way, and so I
- 21:25Speaker 3: knew we had to get Melissa for this.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Do you find that you pull from your dreams a lot?
- 21:32Speaker 6: I would say, yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I mean, I you know, I am a writer in
- 21:37Speaker 3: that I dream about things and then I communicate them
- 21:40Speaker 3: to screenwriters. I had this other wonderful dream recently that
- 21:45Speaker 3: I'm currently adopting.
- 21:47Speaker 6: It's about this lion.
- 21:49Speaker 3: That really deeply wants to be a monarch, and he
- 21:54Speaker 3: is on this rock with all these other lions.
- 21:59Speaker 4: He wants to.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Be, I think lion king, But I don't remember him
- 22:04Speaker 2: really wanting to be a monarch in that movie.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Yeah, this makes me feel like better that you don't
- 22:09Speaker 4: actually have dreams that are straight up Disney ip. It
- 22:11Speaker 4: feels like this one's different.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Lightly, Yeah, I'm confused.
- 22:15Speaker 6: Why Disney is entering the conversation because this.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Is a dream I had, and this lion had this
- 22:20Speaker 3: uncle who was you know, had this slash across his
- 22:25Speaker 3: face and that's why his name was Slash.
- 22:27Speaker 6: And he really wanted to be the monarch. He wanted
- 22:30Speaker 6: to be the Lion monarch.
- 22:32Speaker 2: And so was your dream called Lion Monarch?
- 22:36Speaker 6: It was called the Lion Monarch.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, miss Blazer. I would I would recommend
- 22:42Speaker 1: because I am working for Disney. I would be careful
- 22:45Speaker 1: with that kind of I know you're not stealing from
- 22:48Speaker 1: them on purpose, and that sounds like lateral thinking.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Sounds like all dream play.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Sounds all dream play and it's just happening and you're
- 22:55Speaker 1: but now, I would maybe take a look through their
- 22:57Speaker 1: catalog and know it's a lot, but if you it
- 22:59Speaker 1: might be help for you to make sure that you
- 23:01Speaker 1: don't have anything that overlaps with him. There's a couple
- 23:03Speaker 1: of these ideas.
- 23:04Speaker 2: We're really they're really really close. Really, I mean, this.
- 23:09Speaker 6: Is the first I'm hearing of this. No one in
- 23:11Speaker 6: my circle has brought this up.
- 23:13Speaker 4: So Rosa brought it up.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I think my circle is Rosa and my assistant, who
- 23:19Speaker 3: I'll be honest, I can't hear her most of the time.
- 23:25Speaker 6: She sounds such a small voice.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I do.
- 23:29Speaker 1: I feel like they're making Assistance smaller and smaller nowadays,
- 23:33Speaker 1: specifically smaller.
- 23:35Speaker 4: I can't tell what it is because sometimes it's like,
- 23:38Speaker 4: do you do you want to sound like that?
- 23:40Speaker 2: Was?
- 23:40Speaker 4: Did someone tell you to sound like that?
- 23:42Speaker 1: Absolute?
- 23:44Speaker 3: Catherine sounds like an eighty bitty little ant.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's like my son. I can barely hear him.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I can barely hear him. He mumbles all the time,
- 23:55Speaker 2: just mumble over.
- 23:57Speaker 6: You know, it's your son. Heavily involved in the movie Assistant.
- 24:02Speaker 2: So my son has helped me. He wrote it. He
- 24:05Speaker 2: helped me write it. We've kind of been from the
- 24:07Speaker 2: ground up pitching to studios. He's been in there the
- 24:10Speaker 2: whole time. He's been great helping me out with this.
- 24:15Speaker 2: So that is great news. And I love my son.
- 24:19Speaker 2: But boy does he mumble. He mumbles so much. I
- 24:23Speaker 2: mean talking about liberties for charades. The original story, Marvin
- 24:29Speaker 2: Geck was sitting at a party and came up with it.
- 24:33Speaker 2: He saw somebody trying to explain somebody to somebody else,
- 24:35Speaker 2: and he said it would be hilarious if they were
- 24:40Speaker 2: they couldn't talk in God.
- 24:42Speaker 4: What a moment in actual history.
- 24:44Speaker 2: That must well he used yeah, he used otherwise, that
- 24:48Speaker 2: was nice. And that was nineteen sixty one when he
- 24:52Speaker 2: did that, nineteen sixty one and he was using other words.
- 24:55Speaker 2: He's a very racist bad man. So we had to
- 24:57Speaker 2: take liberties to change that. He was going, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 2: saying much worse things about you know.
- 25:03Speaker 1: So doctor do I call you doctor Jones? Doctor Phillis? Like,
- 25:06Speaker 1: what do you call me?
- 25:07Speaker 2: Phyllis? You can call me doctor Phillis, You can call
- 25:09Speaker 2: me doctor Jones, whatever you want, doctor Phillis. Doctor Phillis
- 25:14Speaker 2: like doctor phil.
- 25:14Speaker 6: He kinda so any relation.
- 25:18Speaker 2: No, that's a first name. That's not how that works.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Okay, got it?
- 25:22Speaker 3: Okay, because the two words sounds so similar to me,
- 25:24Speaker 3: I was just like, you guys have to be.
- 25:26Speaker 6: Are you sure?
- 25:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it not how first names work. If your
- 25:31Speaker 2: name is tom and the other person's name is Tommy,
- 25:33Speaker 2: no relation, that's that's it's usually the last name would
- 25:36Speaker 2: be interesting.
- 25:37Speaker 6: That's so interesting.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So okay, So doctor Phillis, you uh you you created this, uh,
- 25:46Speaker 1: this whole story. So you you took a lot of liberties.
- 25:49Speaker 1: You said just a bit.
- 25:50Speaker 2: You know, the original story is so raw and so dangerous.
- 25:55Speaker 2: You know, sometimes you have to add a little heat
- 25:57Speaker 2: and a little love and a little bit of spice.
- 25:59Speaker 1: To social research experience, Like did you did you dive
- 26:02Speaker 1: into the research? Did you have someone else do the research?
- 26:04Speaker 1: I mean, I certainly didn't have to do a lot
- 26:06Speaker 1: of researching. I've been growing up a group around hunters
- 26:09Speaker 1: my whole life, so I didn't I didn't need to
- 26:11Speaker 1: look what it was like to be a hunter, you know,
- 26:13Speaker 1: the character, you know, but you were going on for
- 26:15Speaker 1: real person.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Yeah, So our research, we had a meeting with Marvin
- 26:20Speaker 2: Gick and he is so close to death that you know,
- 26:26Speaker 2: he tells us this story takes about five minutes, and
- 26:29Speaker 2: we go, okay, the rest is what we're going to
- 26:32Speaker 2: make up. So we added a lot, a lot, a
- 26:34Speaker 2: lot to this. He spoke to him for five minutes,
- 26:38Speaker 2: five minutes, but the nurse said he has to go
- 26:40Speaker 2: to bed, and you know, we asked him, he said,
- 26:43Speaker 2: I said, how did this come? He said, well, I'm
- 26:46Speaker 2: sitting at a party, you know, and he used some
- 26:48Speaker 2: bad words, bad words, and he said this, you know,
- 26:51Speaker 2: this is a specific type of party, and somebody's talking
- 26:54Speaker 2: like a dummy, and I don't and I don't want
- 26:56Speaker 2: to say what he called that dumb person, and then
- 26:58Speaker 2: he said, so I said, shut your mouth and try
- 27:00Speaker 2: to explain it to him. Now we're playing a game.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Drink and that was it, And I said what happened
- 27:05Speaker 2: after that? He said, I don't know. I went to
- 27:07Speaker 2: sleep immediately. So the rest of.
- 27:10Speaker 6: Our captivating stories.
- 27:12Speaker 2: It's so captain and this guy, you guys have to
- 27:14Speaker 2: meet him. He's absolutely captivating.
- 27:17Speaker 4: He's when you talk about him, it sounds just like
- 27:19Speaker 4: that lin Manuel Miranda when he talks about Alexander Hamilton
- 27:23Speaker 4: and you talk about Marvin Gick.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Yes, I feel like that's a lot of my inspiration.
- 27:28Speaker 2: I saw that lin Manuel was doing Hamilton and I said, now,
- 27:31Speaker 2: wait just a second. You can do that.
- 27:36Speaker 6: And that's isn't that what movie making is?
- 27:41Speaker 4: You can do that.
- 27:43Speaker 2: You can wait a second.
- 27:44Speaker 6: To second, you can do that.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I watched my dad make a fortune all
- 27:50Speaker 4: forget and high as fuck and making a little drawing
- 27:54Speaker 4: and animating that drawing to eat things, and suddenly I
- 27:58Speaker 4: was living in bel Air, growing up, having going from
- 28:02Speaker 4: home to home just like rich Off. My ass and
- 28:04Speaker 4: I went, you can do that, and that's why I said,
- 28:08Speaker 4: I want to be in the film industry. I want
- 28:10Speaker 4: to go to media.
- 28:11Speaker 1: What was the inspiration if you? I've always been wondering.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I know your dad was famously secretive about where the
- 28:18Speaker 1: inspiration for pac Man came from. What that shape was
- 28:21Speaker 1: taken from? Can you could you tell us right now?
- 28:25Speaker 4: I don't like to talk much about my dad. I
- 28:27Speaker 4: like to separate it from because my dad's a different guy.
- 28:30Speaker 4: He's a media Mongol, you know what I mean.
- 28:32Speaker 2: He's very a Mongol, a Mongorel, and I'm not a mocl.
- 28:39Speaker 1: He's like a Mongolian. Is he like a Mongolian where
- 28:49Speaker 1: like like Genghis Khan where he takes over places and
- 28:53Speaker 1: he just like does raise exactly.
- 28:55Speaker 4: My dad is. He's a Mongol. He is a media
- 28:58Speaker 4: Mongol and he'll take over. And that's why I like
- 29:01Speaker 4: to just I mean, I am thankful for him. I
- 29:03Speaker 4: grew up in immense wealth, so I'm really lucky and
- 29:07Speaker 4: I got to meet a lot of people because of
- 29:08Speaker 4: my dad being a media Mongol. But I will say
- 29:12Speaker 4: I I don't like to associate myself with him in
- 29:15Speaker 4: terms of just like I like to make press about
- 29:18Speaker 4: the Wei movie, but I will say my dad's mouth
- 29:20Speaker 4: is shaped like that. That's what I'll say.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Oh, is his head shaped like that?
- 29:26Speaker 6: Or no, but that's how he eats and young.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's kind of where the inspiration came from.
- 29:33Speaker 4: But that's not that's not my story to tell, and
- 29:36Speaker 4: I like to separate it and talk more about we sports.
- 29:40Speaker 2: The movie. Well, that's great. Yeah.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Did you guys pick your video games or did your
- 29:44Speaker 4: video games pick you?
- 29:46Speaker 2: Oh?
- 29:46Speaker 1: My video game picked me. I mean I was the
- 29:48Speaker 1: top score at a big Big Buck Hunter at the
- 29:52Speaker 1: at the Stink Pit in Arkadelphia, one of my favorite
- 29:57Speaker 1: favorite dive bars. Wow, just think put all the time,
- 30:01Speaker 1: and I won that game frequently. People used to stand
- 30:04Speaker 1: around and watch me play and it was really, really fun.
- 30:06Speaker 1: And what's crazy about it is I played so much
- 30:10Speaker 1: that I got the top score. Again, I always put
- 30:12Speaker 1: ass Ass, even though that's not my name, because that
- 30:15Speaker 1: was what I would say. My name was just for
- 30:17Speaker 1: fun to be laughed at. But so the top ten scores,
- 30:23Speaker 1: isn't you.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Got a that's got to the top score And iverybody's
- 30:28Speaker 2: trying to figure out like a murder mystery.
- 30:30Speaker 4: That reminds me of Hamilton a little bit.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Well, so that is my work, so I will say that.
- 30:35Speaker 1: I'm going to claim that. So don't I don't want
- 30:38Speaker 1: you guys getting any ideas I think asked the movie. Well,
- 30:41Speaker 1: it's been ok.
- 30:42Speaker 6: We had the idea, though to think that is a
- 30:44Speaker 6: good idea.
- 30:45Speaker 1: I know we're gonna have to do it.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Because we technically could own the idea of people owning
- 30:51Speaker 4: the idea, right, because there's all these stories right right,
- 30:54Speaker 4: not the film itself or not the game itself, but
- 30:57Speaker 4: the making up.
- 30:58Speaker 1: So you guys are gonna get it. You're gonna make
- 30:59Speaker 1: a movie about how I came up with writing ass
- 31:02Speaker 1: on Big Bug Hunter.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Yes, it's a beautiful story. It's just like le Manuel
- 31:06Speaker 4: Miranda without ten dram.
- 31:08Speaker 2: You know this because I this is exactly my wheel.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Hust I owned the ip for the idea of making
- 31:14Speaker 2: a movie about the of Leonardo da Vinci, and I
- 31:17Speaker 2: know I owned the ipa of the idea of Johnny
- 31:21Speaker 2: Appleseed movie. So it's great.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Well, well, what I wanted to say was when I
- 31:26Speaker 1: got all those ten asses on the screen and I
- 31:28Speaker 1: wrote ass ten times. Uh. As soon as I did that,
- 31:32Speaker 1: the machine of the game itself unlocked, and I got
- 31:36Speaker 1: to go. There was a little thing inside, and there
- 31:38Speaker 1: was an envelope and it said to the person who
- 31:41Speaker 1: gets all ten scores. No, I didn't say Rhode ass,
- 31:44Speaker 1: that would freak me out. It would be the same
- 31:46Speaker 1: for the person who got all ten top scores. And
- 31:49Speaker 1: it was the movie rights to Big Bug Hunter. So
- 31:53Speaker 1: I guess, I guess the guy who created it. So
- 31:55Speaker 1: I guess I'm so I've been playing the original Big
- 32:00Speaker 1: Buck Hunter. I didn't know that I was playing the
- 32:02Speaker 1: first one, and and I guess the guy that made it.
- 32:05Speaker 1: His name was Don Daltrey. He lived in Arkadelphia, and
- 32:09Speaker 1: he lived in Arkadelphia, and he put that in there,
- 32:12Speaker 1: and it was kind of a Willy Wonka situation. I
- 32:15Speaker 1: did look up that man and he he's actually pretty young.
- 32:19Speaker 1: He's in his mid forties right now, but he kind
- 32:22Speaker 1: of isn't interested.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Gonna ask you something. Yeah, that sounds like a fantastic
- 32:28Speaker 2: movie start to finish and you chose to go Mandalorian style.
- 32:34Speaker 1: No, that's not That's just how it happened. Then I thought,
- 32:38Speaker 1: who is this hunter? What if he's played by John
- 32:41Speaker 1: Hamm And what if he's mysterious, and he's he's he's
- 32:44Speaker 1: a grump and he's frustrated, but he's on a journey
- 32:47Speaker 1: to kill every animal in the forest. Right. But he's
- 32:51Speaker 1: likable because he's getting rid of some of his clothes
- 32:53Speaker 1: and giving him to a for profit business that sells
- 32:55Speaker 1: back thrift store clothes at a higher value. So you know,
- 33:01Speaker 1: it's it's different, right, But but that that's just my life.
- 33:05Speaker 1: I don't really like making movies out of my life
- 33:07Speaker 1: because that's why I live my life, and I make movies. You'
- 33:10Speaker 1: all know what I mean.
- 33:11Speaker 6: Yes, Yes, live your life, make movies.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's not for sale. Please don't take that.
- 33:21Speaker 1: That's not well.
- 33:22Speaker 6: We're gonna have to talk about it after this.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I would love to know what you guys like, Like,
- 33:31Speaker 3: did you did you guys have a passion for making
- 33:35Speaker 3: movies before finding a video game and taking it and
- 33:39Speaker 3: sort of making it a movie, did you make other things?
- 33:42Speaker 6: Like is this like for me? I'd say I was
- 33:47Speaker 6: always kind of on the lookout for just like objects
- 33:51Speaker 6: and concepts that can be made into movies.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Yeah, love that.
- 33:55Speaker 3: I saw the most fantastic mailbox outside my house, and yeah,
- 34:02Speaker 3: I've been pitching that around town because I think.
- 34:04Speaker 2: That's what's the story.
- 34:05Speaker 6: It's such a fascinating story.
- 34:08Speaker 3: Well, it's red and it's sort of angular, and it
- 34:13Speaker 3: does the most unbelievable thing. When you pull up the
- 34:17Speaker 3: mail slot. There's a little, uh sort of gnome affixed
- 34:22Speaker 3: to the back and you get to see the gnome
- 34:25Speaker 3: every time you open the mail slot.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Is this your mailbox?
- 34:31Speaker 3: Yeah, you sound like you were accusing me of something.
- 34:36Speaker 2: No, No, not just.
- 34:37Speaker 6: Going into random people's mailboxes.
- 34:40Speaker 3: I was just wondering, I'm sorry, we got that wires
- 34:44Speaker 3: are crossed here?
- 34:45Speaker 2: Yea that moment right there should not be a movie that.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Was a little bit of a glitch.
- 34:50Speaker 6: That was a glitch.
- 34:51Speaker 2: No.
- 34:51Speaker 4: I so you pitch. You've been making movies a lot, Lisa, Yeah,
- 34:56Speaker 4: we're pitching them.
- 34:58Speaker 3: I've been pitching them, but I have you know. I
- 35:02Speaker 3: was the I was a producer on the wind X movie.
- 35:08Speaker 6: We had the Doodle Jump movie as well.
- 35:11Speaker 4: That went straight to straight to DVD, Doodle Drump straight
- 35:15Speaker 4: to DVD.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Which is now. I love how DVDs have come back.
- 35:19Speaker 4: No, I think it's so vintage.
- 35:22Speaker 3: It is vintage, and people want like a physical copy
- 35:25Speaker 3: of something that they can hold in their hands and
- 35:26Speaker 3: that they can mount on their wall before they go
- 35:29Speaker 3: and watch it on Netflix.
- 35:30Speaker 1: So, Lisa, I had a question, did.
- 35:33Speaker 2: You did you make?
- 35:35Speaker 1: Did you make the movie? I think I saw this?
- 35:38Speaker 1: It was, uh, three car pile Up? Is that a
- 35:42Speaker 1: movie you made?
- 35:43Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 35:43Speaker 6: Three car pile Up?
- 35:44Speaker 1: It was a true story.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, on a true story. So half my movies
- 35:49Speaker 3: are based on dreams, and half of my movies.
- 35:51Speaker 6: Are based on true stories.
- 35:53Speaker 3: And I would say that the true story, like sometimes
- 35:57Speaker 3: the most interesting thing to write about is something real
- 36:03Speaker 3: that's happened to you. And I was in the four
- 36:04Speaker 3: or five and I watched this car stop in its
- 36:08Speaker 3: tracks and you won't believe what happened. Next two other
- 36:12Speaker 3: cars crashed into them. Everyone was fine, and I pulled over,
- 36:20Speaker 3: and I like a lot of people were stopping to
- 36:23Speaker 3: offer help to see what was going on, and they
- 36:27Speaker 3: couldn't open the doors, like some people were trapped in
- 36:30Speaker 3: the cars. But I knew what needed to be done,
- 36:34Speaker 3: and so I used all my might to pry open
- 36:37Speaker 3: that car door. And I asked them right then and
- 36:40Speaker 3: there for the rights, and you know what, holy.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Shit, what rights were you actually getting the concept of
- 36:48Speaker 2: three cars crashing.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Know, the story of what just happened, the tragedy.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Yeah, the story of what just happened. And thank goodness,
- 36:56Speaker 3: they're all okay. I think because someone else was near
- 37:00Speaker 3: by and called this number nine one one, which we're
- 37:03Speaker 3: also working on making a movie, and.
- 37:07Speaker 6: It just changed the way I do filmmaking.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Incredible.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:10Speaker 4: I saw that Vulture article about you, how lately you've
- 37:13Speaker 4: been You've been hanging out in hospitals.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Had that was such an interesting Vulture article and just.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Waiting and you go in and you ask for rights
- 37:22Speaker 4: for each story, like I go in and I wait.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Yeah, they wrote it like you were the villain. Almost
- 37:29Speaker 2: Vulture were prying on people that were close to debt.
- 37:32Speaker 3: That's such an interesting interpretation of events. But that would
- 37:36Speaker 3: be a movie. Yeah, I mean if that were true.
- 37:40Speaker 4: I am so I love listening to these stories because
- 37:42Speaker 4: I know nothing about the movie industry, absolutely nothing, to
- 37:46Speaker 4: the point where I'm such a gamer and game developer
- 37:50Speaker 4: that when we were shooting we the movie, instead of
- 37:53Speaker 4: saying cut, I kept being like, your turns over, It
- 37:57Speaker 4: turns over, and they go.
- 37:59Speaker 6: No, that's such a long sentence to.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Such and such a gamer thing for you to say.
- 38:05Speaker 4: When things are over, we say cut. We don't say
- 38:07Speaker 4: your turns over.
- 38:08Speaker 1: But in the gaming industry, y'all screaming your turns turns
- 38:11Speaker 1: over all the time.
- 38:12Speaker 4: It turns over, Your turns over?
- 38:14Speaker 2: What other things would you say?
- 38:16Speaker 4: In the gaming industry instead of quiet on set, we
- 38:21Speaker 4: usually say shut up, it's my turn.
- 38:25Speaker 2: So we said it was action, the same was action?
- 38:29Speaker 2: The same?
- 38:29Speaker 1: No we have go Oh, it's pretty similar.
- 38:33Speaker 4: Yeah, one go?
- 38:35Speaker 1: Can I ask y'all a question? Uh? You know, from
- 38:38Speaker 1: one game adapter to another. A big part of creating
- 38:43Speaker 1: adaptations from games is satisfying a rabbit fan base, right,
- 38:48Speaker 1: people that care so much about the subject and the
- 38:52Speaker 1: source material. How are y'all servicing that fan base in
- 38:57Speaker 1: your new project?
- 39:01Speaker 2: It's been tough. Let me tell you that.
- 39:03Speaker 4: I mean, the Charades fan base.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Are rabbit for blood, you know. And so when the
- 39:11Speaker 2: Deadline article got released, the fans came for me and
- 39:15Speaker 2: my son's throat.
- 39:16Speaker 1: I actually saw. I am part of the Charade reddit
- 39:19Speaker 1: and it is so nasty over there.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Sorry for the way the Silent Generation treated you. Yeah,
- 39:30Speaker 3: they really banded together. They left the nursing home and
- 39:34Speaker 3: it's so terrible. What they did to your car.
- 39:37Speaker 4: Didn't you get hunted after by Ellen's people too?
- 39:40Speaker 2: Because I got I got hunted after by Ellen's people. Yeah,
- 39:44Speaker 2: because that's.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Not right, because because that game is only verbal, heads
- 39:48Speaker 1: up is verbal.
- 39:49Speaker 2: So Ellen needs she needs to calm down. And that's
- 39:52Speaker 2: what we're trying to do. It's it's a movement hashtag
- 39:55Speaker 2: Ellen calmed down.
- 39:57Speaker 4: Well, I believe there's a level. There's a level in
- 40:00Speaker 4: what's up or heads up that is no words.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Yeah, she tries, she's trying to clean that ip, but yeah,
- 40:07Speaker 2: it was really tough. And I'm trying to constantly tell them. Guys,
- 40:10Speaker 2: see the movie. You'll see how accurate we keep to
- 40:14Speaker 2: the story of charades, how accurate we play the game
- 40:16Speaker 2: of charades. But you know, people have created their own
- 40:19Speaker 2: house rules, and they want to see their own house rules.
- 40:22Speaker 2: They don't want to just see a person desperately trying
- 40:26Speaker 2: to explain something in silent going to movies close to
- 40:30Speaker 2: sounds like they don't want that anymore. They want, you know,
- 40:33Speaker 2: they want some real good charade.
- 40:35Speaker 1: So and I would I would imagine too, something that's
- 40:38Speaker 1: a little difficult for your movie, you know, in satisfying
- 40:41Speaker 1: the fan base, they want to see people act out,
- 40:44Speaker 1: you know, Star Wars, they want to see people to
- 40:46Speaker 1: act out. Indiana Jones. Are you able to mention real
- 40:49Speaker 1: IP or real products?
- 40:50Speaker 2: We're not. We're not allowed to any mention any real
- 40:53Speaker 2: IP or any products. So a lot of the movies
- 40:55Speaker 2: that people are trying to get in the movie, we've
- 40:58Speaker 2: created basically a fan universe of movies for the movie charades,
- 41:02Speaker 2: and a fake universe of books, and a fake universe
- 41:05Speaker 2: of soul.
- 41:05Speaker 4: That's a multiverse. And you and I mean multi versus
- 41:08Speaker 4: money in the bank.
- 41:10Speaker 1: So you know, it's like, have all of your studios
- 41:13Speaker 1: been trying to get you, guys, to turn your movie
- 41:15Speaker 1: into multiverse.
- 41:16Speaker 6: You're looking at these sports.
- 41:18Speaker 4: They wanted me to have a super Bowl in five
- 41:22Speaker 4: different universes, all on a me mm hmm.
- 41:26Speaker 3: That is actually I think a platform that would lend
- 41:29Speaker 3: itself to multiverses quite well.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Of all the ones, yours feels like the most multiverse.
- 41:34Speaker 4: No, no, you would think so. But then you put
- 41:37Speaker 4: pen to paper, Absolutely not.
- 41:39Speaker 6: It's tought it.
- 41:40Speaker 2: So you're trying to write the multiverse.
- 41:43Speaker 4: I tried it, and I said, guys, this story doesn't
- 41:45Speaker 4: lend itself to that.
- 41:49Speaker 1: You know.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I think that's something that writers say when they don't
- 41:52Speaker 3: want to write.
- 41:54Speaker 6: The story doesn't lend itself to that.
- 41:55Speaker 3: I'm like, are you guys just playing ping pong in
- 41:59Speaker 3: your room?
- 42:00Speaker 6: Get on your phone.
- 42:01Speaker 4: I think you bring up a good point. Maybe I am.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Maybe I was lazy and I didn't want to say that,
- 42:07Speaker 4: so I said, this story doesn't lend itself to that.
- 42:10Speaker 4: But the studios bought.
- 42:11Speaker 6: It, and that's all that matters.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Do you guys have any rabid fan bases?
- 42:17Speaker 3: Yeah, the claw fan base, I mean, come on, yeah,
- 42:20Speaker 3: the clawheads are so intense. And the interesting thing about
- 42:25Speaker 3: the clawheads is that I would say that claw machines
- 42:28Speaker 3: are not like a a brand that is repeatable, like
- 42:33Speaker 3: many companies own their own types of claw machines with
- 42:37Speaker 3: their own types of prizes and so where a lot
- 42:40Speaker 3: of the conflict comes from between.
- 42:42Speaker 6: The fan bases.
- 42:43Speaker 3: And it's interesting because the fan bases are sort of
- 42:45Speaker 3: eating at each other and they're not coming for me
- 42:48Speaker 3: because a lot of people are saying, you know, I'm
- 42:51Speaker 3: from Coney Island, my fa my claw machine doesn't look
- 42:54Speaker 3: like that.
- 42:55Speaker 6: In my claw.
- 42:55Speaker 3: Machine, it's all minions in the in the that are
- 42:59Speaker 3: prizes is Oh, well, my claw machine has shamous those
- 43:02Speaker 3: are the sea World people.
- 43:04Speaker 2: And so it's like the sea World people fandom, oh huge.
- 43:10Speaker 3: I mean Blackfish has been gone for a while, so
- 43:14Speaker 3: the SeaWorld people are back in a new and big way.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Actually that should be a movie and we should talk
- 43:20Speaker 3: about this after.
- 43:21Speaker 1: But the rise of the seaworlders.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Mm hmm, the fan Blackfish too, Blackfish too with people.
- 43:30Speaker 6: Except this time it's a different thing.
- 43:32Speaker 2: It's people except okay, except this time it's a different thing.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I have a punch down on mine. That's all right.
- 43:43Speaker 1: You're the you're the exect, you're the big ah.
- 43:48Speaker 3: I don't think I'm punching down. I think I'm punching genius.
- 43:52Speaker 3: And that's something we do when we put pen to paper.
- 43:56Speaker 3: But did your fans did the buck Hunter fans have
- 43:58Speaker 3: anything to say?
- 43:59Speaker 6: Or territory?
- 44:02Speaker 1: We call them the buck fuckers, and the buck fuckers.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Are did they choose that name down?
- 44:09Speaker 1: They chose it? They chose buck fuckers? Wow, which is crazy.
- 44:13Speaker 1: I mean, it's really weird, you know, you know, it's
- 44:16Speaker 1: it's a strange. It's a strange thing. I told my Picky,
- 44:20Speaker 1: my boyfriend. They go by buck fuckers, And he said, okay, whatever,
- 44:24Speaker 1: you know, we we don't, we don't. I guess we're
- 44:26Speaker 1: not offended. You know, it's okay, it's close. There's a
- 44:29Speaker 1: c k in there, you know.
- 44:30Speaker 4: Were they were the butt fucker's picky about your cast.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Buck fuckers with the see the fine line we're driving okay?
- 44:38Speaker 4: And I just fell right on the line. Were the
- 44:41Speaker 4: buck fuckers upset about your casting? Because I know they
- 44:44Speaker 4: were so serious about the Buck Hunter.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so they wanted me to cast from would you say,
- 44:51Speaker 1: weren't they?
- 44:52Speaker 4: So there you go.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Yeah, so they wanted me to cast Ron White from
- 44:57Speaker 1: the blue collar comedy.
- 44:58Speaker 4: To the.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Salad. They wanted Tater Salad to do it. But but
- 45:03Speaker 1: that man is just not in fighting shape to run
- 45:07Speaker 1: a series like this. Yeah, he has some problems, a
- 45:10Speaker 1: little older, and he was a lot you know, a
- 45:13Speaker 1: lot of action in it, a lot of backflips over
- 45:16Speaker 1: the guns and stuff like that. And we couldn't get
- 45:19Speaker 1: him to do it. And it just wasn't right for
- 45:21Speaker 1: the project. We wanted to be young and sexy and interesting,
- 45:24Speaker 1: you know, So we went with John Hamm who to.
- 45:26Speaker 2: End up with Ron White? You know, how did that
- 45:28Speaker 2: kind of come become the consensus in the group.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Well because everybody fucked. Yeah, everyone loves you know, they're
- 45:35Speaker 1: they are not on Reddit. They actually all meet up there.
- 45:38Speaker 1: They are a physical Uh. They kind of do these
- 45:40Speaker 1: rallies where you go to the Buckfucker Rallies and you
- 45:44Speaker 1: go see them all. They go out to the woods
- 45:45Speaker 1: and they all hang out together and then one of
- 45:47Speaker 1: them brings the gator. They all decided they bring a
- 45:51Speaker 1: big generator and they hook up a big buck Hunter
- 45:53Speaker 1: game out in the woods and they play it in
- 45:56Speaker 1: the woods like they're actually shooting. And so it actually
- 45:58Speaker 1: it's almost like nicotine patch for hunters, right like it.
- 46:02Speaker 1: You know, it's it's helpful. Big buck Hunter is helping
- 46:04Speaker 1: people not hunt, you know, it's instead of doing the
- 46:07Speaker 1: real thing. I'm going to go, you use this this uh,
- 46:09Speaker 1: this little machine. But they just love.
- 46:13Speaker 3: I was trying to go to Disneyland the other day
- 46:15Speaker 3: and I got caught behind the Biggest buck Hunter rally
- 46:18Speaker 3: and we could not move.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Traffic was stopped for its well, because they got their
- 46:22Speaker 1: own generators. Because they're all doomsday preppers, so they can
- 46:25Speaker 1: set up anywhere and they want whatever they want. Man
- 46:31Speaker 1: on the highway on the highway there instead of in
- 46:34Speaker 1: a toll booth.
- 46:35Speaker 3: I heard the police because they're all they you know,
- 46:39Speaker 3: they've developed a society.
- 46:40Speaker 6: So it really is tough the buck Hunter community.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Police are strict to Yeah, they're really really scary, but
- 46:49Speaker 1: but so there's all they want is they want to
- 46:51Speaker 1: see things get shot. They said, oh, we better be
- 46:53Speaker 1: seeing things get shot. And I said, don't worry y'all.
- 46:56Speaker 1: You're absolutely that's the whole thing. And the big thing,
- 46:59Speaker 1: the huge thing that they they they don't want to
- 47:02Speaker 1: miss is the turkey bonus round, which is where all
- 47:06Speaker 1: the turkeys come out of nowhere and you shoot as
- 47:08Speaker 1: many turkeys as you can. It's a bonus around for you.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Where is that, No, it's every fifteen minutes we do
- 47:14Speaker 1: a turkey bonus round. So so so the lost to
- 47:17Speaker 1: the episodes each episode is forty five minutes, so we
- 47:20Speaker 1: do three turkey bonus rounds per episode, and we have
- 47:24Speaker 1: them come on out and just he just kind of
- 47:26Speaker 1: stumbles into the hunter stumbles into a bunch of turkeys
- 47:30Speaker 1: every fifteen minutes and sometimes they come pouring through the door.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Sometimes whatever. But it's just fun and there's no consequences,
- 47:37Speaker 1: and it doesn't mean anything, you know, because if you
- 47:40Speaker 1: don't hit a buck in the game, it means a lot.
- 47:43Speaker 1: But if you don't shoot a turkey, it's okay. It's
- 47:45Speaker 1: just fun. And the turkey is it's really fun. We
- 47:49Speaker 1: have the turkey voice by Sean Mendez. He does all
- 47:51Speaker 1: the voices. And when I tell you, this man has
- 47:54Speaker 1: a lot of accents. He is trying some stuff that
- 47:57Speaker 1: we can't air. Unfortunately, he's trying some accents that aren't okay.
- 48:00Speaker 6: God, he's hilarious.
- 48:01Speaker 1: He's really fun. And this guy somebody, I think he's.
- 48:04Speaker 4: Funnier than Ron White. He's so funny.
- 48:07Speaker 1: That's what I've been trying to tell the buckfuckers because
- 48:10Speaker 1: we really want them to embrace Shawn Mendez and they
- 48:13Speaker 1: are having a hard time.
- 48:14Speaker 2: That sounds like a tough community to convince to embrace
- 48:17Speaker 2: Shawn Mendez.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Somebody made a mod where they did the turkey round
- 48:22Speaker 1: and they replaced all the turkeys with Shawn Mendez is.
- 48:25Speaker 1: And now now we've got all these buck fuckers shooting
- 48:27Speaker 1: Shawn Mendez. It doesn't look good.
- 48:30Speaker 4: God, I am so thankful. I have no we sports fans,
- 48:36Speaker 4: there's none we picked a game that has a zero
- 48:39Speaker 4: fan base, which is actually more relaxing and makes me
- 48:44Speaker 4: need to earn it more.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Yeah, you pick the game that comes free when you
- 48:47Speaker 1: buy a weed. In two thousand and.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Nine, we picked a free game, and we picked a
- 48:56Speaker 4: game that's basically just sports. So we're we're going against
- 49:00Speaker 4: every sport movie trope. But I have no fans to
- 49:03Speaker 4: try to please.
- 49:04Speaker 6: So do you have sports fans upset at all?
- 49:07Speaker 2: Or no?
- 49:08Speaker 4: It's there's Actually I've had a lot of my researchers,
- 49:11Speaker 4: a lot of my guys do some research, and the
- 49:15Speaker 4: sports fans to we sports fans, there is no crossover.
- 49:20Speaker 4: The people who actually like we sports. The people who
- 49:23Speaker 4: actually like we sports are women from thirty seven to
- 49:29Speaker 4: forty one.
- 49:32Speaker 6: That's a great demo.
- 49:33Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a good demo demo, but it's a good
- 49:38Speaker 4: demo for there's.
- 49:40Speaker 2: So many women that are from thirty seven to forty one.
- 49:43Speaker 2: That's a great place to be here.
- 49:44Speaker 3: And it's a golden age for spending because it's the
- 49:47Speaker 3: time that they all wake up one day and they
- 49:49Speaker 3: want to buy candles, and so you got to get
- 49:51Speaker 3: it while they're spending.
- 49:53Speaker 6: Yeah, and while they're used to it.
- 49:55Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's that's why I think we went with
- 49:57Speaker 4: Helen Mirren. We went, who are we making this movie for? Right?
- 50:01Speaker 4: Originally we had talks with Lebron, we had talks with
- 50:04Speaker 4: so many Dan Marino from the Dolphins, we got everybody,
- 50:08Speaker 4: and suddenly we went, wait, this is we can't really
- 50:10Speaker 4: make this a sports movie. We kind of got to
- 50:12Speaker 4: go a little women route and make this an afternoon snoozer,
- 50:16Speaker 4: but also.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Make it.
- 50:19Speaker 4: Of full of fun sports stuff. So that's where space
- 50:24Speaker 4: Jam comes in a little bit as one of our cops.
- 50:26Speaker 1: So I feel like we must have had the same
- 50:29Speaker 1: teachers and what I know, you never did movies. But
- 50:32Speaker 1: when I went to film school, they used to say
- 50:36Speaker 1: I went to film school in Arkansas. They said women
- 50:41Speaker 1: for women only, like movies that are snoozers. When you
- 50:45Speaker 1: make a movie for a woman, it's got to be
- 50:46Speaker 1: a snooze.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Option tea you and that's what they teach you and
- 50:54Speaker 4: you learn. I remember I learned this at the end
- 50:56Speaker 4: of my film school. I went to NYU. Where did
- 50:58Speaker 4: you go to NYU or well, I went to Universe
- 51:00Speaker 4: Arkansas Because n YU they taught us that movies for
- 51:03Speaker 4: women need to be snoozers because ergo, women are tired.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Wow.
- 51:10Speaker 4: When I learned that. When I learned that, suddenly I
- 51:13Speaker 4: was like, I think I could write a movie.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Man. You know, I'm sitting in a panel of incredible women.
- 51:20Speaker 1: When I when I was a kid and I realized
- 51:21Speaker 1: that y'all are tired. That was so crazy.
- 51:27Speaker 6: Women tired changed cinema.
- 51:29Speaker 2: I would say, that's a movie.
- 51:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I would love to make a movie about the
- 51:34Speaker 4: day that my film producer, my film professor decided to
- 51:40Speaker 4: teach us that women are tired, because that what a
- 51:42Speaker 4: brave act.
- 51:43Speaker 5: You know.
- 51:46Speaker 4: Yeah, men are bored and women are tired. And that's
- 51:50Speaker 4: why I think movies for men you got to make
- 51:52Speaker 4: them loud and you gotta make a messy.
- 51:56Speaker 6: That's so true.
- 51:57Speaker 4: That's what I learned. Maybe this is so inappropriate.
- 52:02Speaker 1: I think it's fine. I think it's similar to everything
- 52:04Speaker 1: we do. Y'all, it's been it's been delightful talking to
- 52:08Speaker 1: you all. I want to go over you know anything
- 52:11Speaker 1: that people need to know, and I'd love to know
- 52:14Speaker 1: you know, the last thing you want to tell your
- 52:15Speaker 1: fans before your movie comes out? And what's you're up
- 52:18Speaker 1: to next?
- 52:18Speaker 4: We can you two great questions love that.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Well, that's great. I would love to do something inchurades,
- 52:28Speaker 2: but since this is a podcast, I just don't think
- 52:30Speaker 2: it's going to translate. So I'm just gonna well give.
- 52:33Speaker 4: It a shot.
- 52:34Speaker 6: Tell them, let's see if we can guess it.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Okay, Uh, two words.
- 52:42Speaker 4: Movie movie, So you're making a movie next.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Oh, but you don't have the rights to use real
- 52:47Speaker 3: movie titles, so this is just not gonna be.
- 52:50Speaker 2: We're not gonna know.
- 52:50Speaker 4: We're gonna be guessing word salad here.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Okay, okay?
- 52:53Speaker 4: First word, first word.
- 52:55Speaker 5: Eating eating soup, check salad, pasta, chewing, chewing, bosta, hungry,
- 53:04Speaker 5: We'll be here forever.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Hungry, hungry hippos, that's ip Okay, okay, okay.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Second word.
- 53:16Speaker 3: Eating pussy, hungry, hungry dogs, dogs.
- 53:21Speaker 2: You guys are never going to get It's hungry hoopahs.
- 53:24Speaker 2: In our reality, hippos are called hoopahs. Oh, I don't
- 53:30Speaker 2: know why I chose that.
- 53:32Speaker 3: That's so deep, like you were eating out a pussy
- 53:37Speaker 3: for lack of a better word, I've never seen anyone.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Moving well, you guys have never drawn what a hoopa
- 53:42Speaker 2: looks like.
- 53:42Speaker 3: Specific audio listeners will not believe me. They'll think we
- 53:46Speaker 3: were making vulgar guesses, and the zoom.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Listeners won't believe you either because this jumps to whoever speaking, so.
- 53:54Speaker 2: We even so, you guys will never see what I
- 53:59Speaker 2: was doing. But it looked like a hoop opening. My
- 54:02Speaker 2: advice for you guys to words my movie sounds like
- 54:10Speaker 2: a good movie. Come see it Fall twenty twenty four.
- 54:14Speaker 2: It'll be out incredible.
- 54:18Speaker 1: There can't wait. So that's in the charades verse. So
- 54:20Speaker 1: you're gonna start making movies out of the titles that
- 54:24Speaker 1: were in the original.
- 54:25Speaker 2: So basically we're opening up to be this is the
- 54:28Speaker 2: first movie and all the made up I've already bought
- 54:33Speaker 2: all the IP to the made up movies that we've made.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Hungry Hoopas is a is a movie we're working on
- 54:38Speaker 2: in the future and to the fans, give it a chance.
- 54:42Speaker 2: I'm telling you, give this movie a chance. It's gonna
- 54:47Speaker 2: be much better than you think. I promise you're not
- 54:50Speaker 2: gonna be let down.
- 54:53Speaker 6: Incredible.
- 54:54Speaker 3: Well, I would say everybody please go out and see
- 54:57Speaker 3: Klaw Machine Nation. Rebel Wilson and Jack Black are phenomenal
- 55:03Speaker 3: and they do have some really tear jerking monologues. We
- 55:07Speaker 3: are going for Best Actor and Best Actress Final.
- 55:13Speaker 2: Maine Nation.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Well, because I heard a girl in my dream say
- 55:20Speaker 3: something like white claw Nation.
- 55:23Speaker 6: She was like this beautiful drunk woman.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Gosh, she said that, and she.
- 55:30Speaker 6: Just said that.
- 55:30Speaker 3: It was way different than most of my other dreams.
- 55:34Speaker 3: I had like an edible ripe before this, and so
- 55:36Speaker 3: she was just saying some crazy things. But I loved
- 55:39Speaker 3: the word nation, and that was really buzzing in my mind.
- 55:42Speaker 3: And the word claw really buzzing in my mind. So
- 55:45Speaker 3: this is how these things happen. But see that, and
- 55:48Speaker 3: then I'm very excited because we already got a sequel order,
- 55:53Speaker 3: so this will be Q four four. We are going
- 55:57Speaker 3: to be releasing Vending Machine Nation. And the exciting thing
- 56:01Speaker 3: about this is that we are getting we are releasing
- 56:03Speaker 3: this movie in five D exclusively, So when audiences see
- 56:10Speaker 3: characters in put things into the vending machine, a granola
- 56:14Speaker 3: bar will shoot at them in the face.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Amaze. And what's the fourth what's the fifth?
- 56:19Speaker 4: A granola bar?
- 56:21Speaker 2: The dimensions popcorner candy, So do you go through the
- 56:25Speaker 2: dimensions of that? Right?
- 56:27Speaker 6: So the first dimension is one out of the second.
- 56:31Speaker 3: Dimension is a line between two points, right, So I
- 56:35Speaker 3: got anything you see on paper. The third dimension is
- 56:38Speaker 3: where we're all at right now, So this is three
- 56:40Speaker 3: D objects, three D space. The fourth dimension is water
- 56:44Speaker 3: like when you see Shrek four D and water shoots out.
- 56:47Speaker 3: And the fifth dimension is a granola.
- 56:49Speaker 1: Bar one it's one do you have to load it
- 56:53Speaker 1: back in and then they'll shoot back out.
- 56:55Speaker 2: So the granola bar, it's.
- 56:58Speaker 3: We are creating seventy five thousand new jobs for people
- 57:03Speaker 3: to get the granola bars, put them back in the
- 57:06Speaker 3: movie screen, and then shoot.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Them back down again. There's a slot in the movie.
- 57:12Speaker 4: We're doing practical.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Jobs.
- 57:20Speaker 4: The granola can.
- 57:21Speaker 2: I ask this idea of yours? Was this based on
- 57:23Speaker 2: a dream or a real life thing that happened? The
- 57:26Speaker 2: idea of the granola bar, this was based on.
- 57:29Speaker 3: A true story of me going to a vending machine
- 57:32Speaker 3: and getting a cliff bar. I have a machine for
- 57:36Speaker 3: the heights, and I slept on it and I said, yes.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Wow, that's incredible. Big Buck Hunter. The show is is
- 57:44Speaker 1: actually dropping today. It's dropped today. It's availables. Yeah. So
- 57:50Speaker 1: they didn't want to tell anyone about it. They wanted
- 57:52Speaker 1: to be one of those you know how Stranger Things
- 57:53Speaker 1: wasn't advertised before it came out and became big hits.
- 57:56Speaker 1: So they want apparently Beyonce. Yeah, same with.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Beyonce, never advertised ever.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Now Disney wants a Cold Drop and whole series today
- 58:08Speaker 1: and it's really fantastic and I really want you all
- 58:13Speaker 1: go to go check it out. And we are doing
- 58:15Speaker 1: a special promotion with the Big Book Hunters. Where we are.
- 58:22Speaker 1: It's kind of like when Disney put Jack Sparrow into uh,
- 58:26Speaker 1: the Parates of the Caribbean ride, which, by the way,
- 58:29Speaker 1: the Big Book Hunter ride is coming.
- 58:30Speaker 2: I do want.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Yeah, the place it's they're actually just putting it in.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Uh it's a side by side, other point of view
- 58:40Speaker 1: ride of the Princess and the Frog ride that's coming
- 58:42Speaker 1: in Splash Mountain. So the Animal thing.
- 58:47Speaker 4: Maine Nation. You should have a claw Machine Nation and
- 58:49Speaker 4: just use the Little Mermaid ride.
- 58:50Speaker 6: So if you yeah, what is that movie?
- 58:54Speaker 1: Oh God? If you opt into the Big Book Hunter rid,
- 58:56Speaker 1: you go down Splash Mountain and it goes, you have
- 58:58Speaker 1: an option to continue on the right, and so then
- 59:01Speaker 1: you keep going and when you keep going, you become
- 59:04Speaker 1: a gun and you shoot all the animals you just saw.
- 59:07Speaker 4: Saying, oh, you are a gun.
- 59:11Speaker 6: That's a beautiful move for Disney.
- 59:14Speaker 1: Absolutely. But the but the in game promotion if you
- 59:18Speaker 1: if you don't, if you play the game and don't
- 59:20Speaker 1: spill your beer on it, you'll get a month subscription
- 59:22Speaker 1: to Disney Plus.
- 59:24Speaker 2: That's amazing. How do they know whoa they know?
- 59:27Speaker 1: It's the manager is keeping an eye out.
- 59:30Speaker 4: Wow, you're putt You're making kids guns and giving them beer?
- 59:34Speaker 1: Yeah? Absolutely, no, Yes, making kids guns, making adults not
- 59:38Speaker 1: spill their beer. I think you got it, got and
- 59:42Speaker 1: I wouldn't say I would. I should also mention the
- 59:45Speaker 1: Splash Mountain edition is it is eighteen plus, so if
- 59:50Speaker 1: you're a kid, you will be taken off and then
- 59:52Speaker 1: it's an adult.
- 59:53Speaker 4: And then you get the option.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you get the option. Hey, guys, while you're still here.
- 59:57Speaker 1: And it's kind of like those bringers outside of stand
- 59:59Speaker 1: up shows and Times Square. You've got another one. We
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: got another one.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: Hey, you guys.

- 1:00:09Speaker 3: they are desperate for me.
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: I will be departing back to the video game world
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: for another project. Hopefully I'll be able to keep two
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: foots in each pool.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: Two feet in each pool?
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: How many do you have?
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Three?
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: Three one for my wife, one for TV, and one
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: for video games. I am believe it or not, we're
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: making a video we are.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: It's always important to keep one foot in.
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: Your wife, one foot in my wife. We are doing
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: a video game. Believe it or not, all announce it here.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: It's a big deal. We're doing podcasts the video game.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Wow, how do you play that? What's the idea of that?
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: I don't know yet, guys. They just hired me and
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: we'll figure it out.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: I hope.
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: I I hope it'll be something as exciting as throwing
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: granola bars at people. Because when I said, how do
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: we make the idea of a podcast a video game?
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: Not just a certain podcast, but the idea of a
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: podcast into a video game? I said, hold on, buddy,
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: that's gonna be kind of hard. But I said that
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: when I thought of making we sports of a movie.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Also, I just have the best idea for a movie.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: It's a podcast in which a video game producer pitches
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: a podcast video game.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: That's such a good idea. I will have to talk
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: after this. I would we should talk after this.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: Actually, that's just like Lynn Manuel Miranda's Alexander Hamilton musical.
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: I was just thinking that.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: You know what, I just had the crazy idea. What
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: about a movie that's about somebody coming up with the idea?
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: About a movie that's about a person suggesting In a podcast.
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: This has been artists on artists on artists on artists
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: answering the question. And now that's why they call it showbiz.
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: We'll see you next time.
