- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey, everybody, welcome back. So you know, it's the follow up.
- 0:32How did you end up describing yourself?
- 0:35What were your outcomes when you sat down and said, OK, were you,
- 0:40were you sitting there? And we just like befuddled and
- 0:42hopefully you did the exercise. Let me first say that hopefully
- 0:45you did the exercise and hopefully the outcome was to
- 0:48see, can I do this? Can I actually describe myself
- 0:52in 500 words or less? And did I even get it down to
- 0:56even further concise, you know, amount where it's just like a
- 0:59paragraph? What can I say in a paragraph
- 1:01about myself? Now, like I said yesterday, I, I
- 1:05really, this tweaked me in my head because of people
- 1:09struggling to put this together for their own websites and their
- 1:12own process. And I, I just am always thrilled
- 1:17and curious when I throw something out there that pushes
- 1:20someone to really think about what they want people to know
- 1:23and how some people react and they say, I just wanted to be
- 1:25private. I don't want them to know too
- 1:27much. I want to be this, I want to be
- 1:28that. And other people are like, no, I
- 1:30want to tell them everything. And it, it really is such a
- 1:34personal journey with this. However, if you don't know and
- 1:38you get put into situations where you're meeting new people,
- 1:42you're trying to go out and build your business, just, you
- 1:46know, connect, you may have your not your own business, you may
- 1:48be working for someone and you're sent out to go do a bunch
- 1:51of stuff. I mean, just yesterday a client
- 1:54said to me, I have to go out. I'm entertaining corporate
- 1:56clients. And I said, how, how is that?
- 1:59And she's like, oh God, I'm drained by it.
- 2:01And it just feels that more and more because she has to put on a
- 2:06facade when she goes out and does this and she knows it.
- 2:10And we discussed how that feels and how to work with that.
- 2:14But this is the beginning of understanding yourself and
- 2:18knowing, am I going to do that? What's the reason I'm going to
- 2:21do that? Am I comfortable doing that?
- 2:23The more you know, the better you do.
- 2:25So did you do your 500 words? What did you discover about
- 2:28yourself? What were the things that you
- 2:30want to take forward? What do the things you want to
- 2:33leave behind? How do you want to rewrite it?
- 2:34If you want to rewrite it, where are you going to use this?
- 2:37How can you put it together so that you can actually have this
- 2:41be an asset to you? And for me, one of the tricks
- 2:45that I love with this is once you write something like this
- 2:48about yourself, if you read that often, you remember who you want
- 2:53to be at your best self. And that's the whole point of
- 2:56this exercise. It's, you know, we went under
- 2:59the guise of how can you use it towards work?
- 3:01But guess what? It's really personal too because
- 3:03when you read it, you remember who you want to be.
- 3:07You remember at you at your best self.
- 3:09It's like dating, you know? When you first start dating
- 3:11someone, you put yourself out there and as your best self.
- 3:16You don't put yourself out there as your worst self because
- 3:18people would run immediately and you're not always your worst
- 3:22self. Most of the time we're in the
- 3:23middle of the road. I'm not always at my best self
- 3:26and I'm not always at my worst self and somewhere in the middle
- 3:29I reside. Most of the time I like to
- 3:31believe I lean towards my best self, but I could be delusional
- 3:34with that, I don't know. It is it is such a great
- 3:37framework to read and know and hone in on as this is who I want
- 3:42to be. This is who I choose to be.
- 3:44This is how I want to act into myself.
- 3:46Not just the oh, it's for marketing, it is for that and
- 3:51it's bigger, it's for this. So ideally what you want to do
- 3:56is once you figure out what that is and you can write different
- 3:59versions of this, you can really make this a full blown exercise
- 4:03where you could say in my personal time, this is who I am.
- 4:07In my professional time, this is who I am.
- 4:09This is who I am on weekends, weekdays.
- 4:11I don't really care how you break it up, but all these
- 4:14different parts of yourself are going to lend you to being able
- 4:18to read them and then say, that's my target.
- 4:21Because again, we don't wake up every morning with a target of
- 4:23saying today I'm going to be my best myself.
- 4:27I mean, if you're doing that, I I applaud you.
- 4:30I know I can't do that every day.
- 4:32I don't do that every day. I don't even think about it
- 4:34because some days I get Jarred out of bed and by a dog getting
- 4:37sick or something happening. And other days I get up and I'm
- 4:41in my quote UN quote routine, which I go and I read and I
- 4:45write and I do all these little things and I record and I do, I
- 4:48edit, I do all kinds of different things and I'm feeling
- 4:51fantastic. But am I really focused on who I
- 4:54am? Probably not.
- 4:56So this is a great reminder to me as well.
- 4:59I'm going to do this exercise further, digging into it.
- 5:03Already have done it, the minimal stuff we talked about.
- 5:05But now I'm going to go back and I'm going to be able to read
- 5:07this paragraph about myself every day to remind myself who I
- 5:11choose to be and dig in at my best at my best.
- 5:16So I hope you guys have fun with this.
- 5:18I know this is very different, but I hope you have fun with it.
- 5:21I hope you dig into it and you know, really enjoy it because
- 5:25you always want to be at your best self for yourself.
- 5:29All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:31will see you tomorrow. Bye.
