Speaker 3: want to welcome in now though to the show, the
• 2:48
Speaker 3: Mayor of the fine city of Hurricane, Scott Edwards. Good morning, Sarah,
• 2:51
Speaker 3: welcome to the show.
• 2:52
Speaker 7: Good morning. How are you doing today?
• 2:54
Speaker 3: I am doing fine and thank you for being here.
• 2:56
Speaker 3: And you know, Mayor, Hurricane is always on the move,
• 3:00
Speaker 3: and it was announced a couple of months ago ahead
• 3:01
Speaker 3: you on the show to talk about this new housing
• 3:03
Speaker 3: development it's going to be coming to town.
• 3:06
Speaker 4: What's what's the latest you can tell us from there.
• 3:09
Speaker 7: Yeah, so the housing development, four one hundred to four
• 3:11
Speaker 7: hundred and fifty houses will be uh we locate on
• 3:14
Speaker 7: seventy acres on the Woodworth Farm and it'll be called
• 3:17
Speaker 7: Woodworth Farms, and that we look for that to start
• 3:20
Speaker 7: happening in the spring right round and get all that
• 3:22
Speaker 7: moving really quick, and then uh, you'll start seeing more
• 3:25
Speaker 7: pop up businesses happen happened near there. One is the
• 3:29
Speaker 7: DG Market, another DG Market in Putnam County, and it'll
• 3:33
Speaker 7: be uh, it'll set right beside those those homes. And uh,
• 3:37
Speaker 7: the folks I've talked to in town most for the
• 3:39
Speaker 7: most part, most people seem to uh looking forward to
• 3:42
Speaker 7: it and like it. Well.
• 3:44
Speaker 3: And I'll say this about the and of course the
• 3:46
Speaker 3: DG stands for Dollar General. Uh, but uh, it's it's
• 3:49
Speaker 3: not your typical Dollar General. We have on we have
• 3:51
Speaker 3: one on my end of Day's Valley, you know where
• 3:53
Speaker 3: I serve as the mayor, uh on the on on
• 3:56
  Speaker 3: that end, and uh, and uh it's it's it's a
• 3:58
Speaker 3: very nice store. I mean it's a full on supermarket.
• 4:01
Speaker 7: Absolutely. I've talked to a lot of folks that live
• 4:03
Speaker 7: at three oh four at Valley Point. You know, our
• 4:05
Speaker 7: friend Allen Bell his luxury apartments there on Tays Valley
• 4:09
Speaker 7: Road behind Wendy's. And there's a DG Market that just
• 4:12
Speaker 7: recently opened there. And the folks that live at three
• 4:14
Speaker 7: oh four at Valley Point absolutely love the convenience. They
• 4:18
Speaker 7: can run out and you know, grab some milk, grab
• 4:20
Speaker 7: some fresh vegetables or fruit, and grab a few things
• 4:23
Speaker 7: and go back and have dinner. They don't have to
• 4:25
Speaker 7: fight all the traffic. And I see the same thing
• 4:28
Speaker 7: happening for that end of hurricane where the four hundred
• 4:31
Speaker 7: homes will be built. You know, folks that live down
• 4:34
Speaker 7: that way can they don't have to fight any traffic
• 4:36
Speaker 7: to get to Walmart or Kroger or wherever. They can
• 4:38
Speaker 7: just run over to DG Market and grab a few
• 4:40
Speaker 7: things and go by home if needed. So it's going
• 4:42
Speaker 7: to be good, it really is.
• 4:44
  Speaker 4: I agree.
• 4:44
Speaker 3: Talked to Mayor Scott Edwards, mayor of Hurricane. We had
• 4:47
Speaker 3: a news story on this morning earlier, Mayor about the
• 4:50
Speaker 3: middle school and hurrican that's right in town.
• 4:52
Speaker 4: What can anything anything on that.
• 4:55
Speaker 7: It's starting to happen. All the architectures they're they're doing
• 4:59
Speaker 7: their thing. Now look forward to breaking ground in twenty
• 5:02
Speaker 7: six and get this thing moving forward. Everybody's excited for it.
• 5:06
Speaker 7: I know people are apprehensive about extra traffic on Tees
• 5:08
Speaker 7: Valley Road, but it's besides the high school. But my
• 5:12
Speaker 7: personal feeling is the way the plans are that there's
• 5:15
Speaker 7: gonna be a lot of areas off the road for
• 5:17
Speaker 7: pick up and drop off, and then the buses won't
• 5:20
Speaker 7: have to go back and forth back and forth between
• 5:22
Speaker 7: the high school and middle school. So hopefully it's going
• 5:24
Speaker 7: to actually alleviate some traffic.
• 5:26
Speaker 3: Well, and that was gonna be my next point, mayor,
• 5:29
Speaker 3: And that was everyone's favorite subject in Tayese Valley, and
• 5:32
Speaker 3: that is traffic. I had said, and you have agreed
• 5:34
Speaker 3: with me. It is a it's a good problem to have.
• 5:38
  Speaker 7: It's a great problem to have. I mean, there's so
• 5:40
Speaker 7: many people and I hate to not talking bad about anywhere.
• 5:44
Speaker 7: I mean there's great places in our state, but we
• 5:47
Speaker 7: are blessed here to have these problems. A lot of
• 5:51
Speaker 7: people would would would trade us right now in a
• 5:54
Speaker 7: heartbeat to have the problems we have. When I say problems,
• 5:56
Speaker 7: I mean some traffic. But for years, as you know,
• 5:59
Speaker 7: I've been may Or eighteen years, and people have begged
• 6:01
Speaker 7: and begged for all the stuff, restaurants and banks and
• 6:07
Speaker 7: different things to do for the kids and different events.
• 6:10
Speaker 7: Everybody wants all the things, but nobody wants all the
• 6:12
Speaker 7: traffic that has to happen before all those things will come. Yeah,
• 6:16
Speaker 7: and it's a trade offs. You have to have traffic
• 6:19
Speaker 7: to get hotels and ice restaurants and all these things,
• 6:22
Speaker 7: you know, before before they'll locate here. And now we're
• 6:26
Speaker 7: on the cusp of that. And we're actually here, and
• 6:28
Speaker 7: people are starting to locate here even more, you know,
• 6:31
Speaker 7: with all the other growth around us up in Mason County,
• 6:34
Speaker 7: with new core and just everything that's happening. We're a
• 6:37
Speaker 7: hurricane Tese Valley's got deeper area worthy, like the epicenter
• 6:41
Speaker 7: of all this, all the growth.
• 6:42
Speaker 3: Somebody once told me, And I wasn't around in Mayor,
• 6:44
  Speaker 3: and maybe I mean I was around, but I wasn't
• 6:46
Speaker 3: living there at the time. And like when when Tays
• 6:48
Speaker 3: Valley and the whole hurricane area first exploded, I guess
• 6:51
Speaker 3: like in the probably what the nineties, late mid to
• 6:53
Speaker 3: late nineties, two thousand, maybe the early nineties, I'm not sure.
• 6:56
Speaker 4: You were around then.
• 6:59
Speaker 3: We're starting to see a similar type of explosion in
• 7:02
Speaker 3: the valley right now, just like it was then.
• 7:04
Speaker 7: Correct, Yeah, it's exploding, and you know, property values have
• 7:07
Speaker 7: gone through the roof and empty property along, you know,
• 7:10
Speaker 7: whether it's a long Tees Valley Road or Scott Depot.
• 7:13
Speaker 7: You know, you're starting to see land and you've driven
• 7:16
Speaker 7: by before that's just been setting empty and now there's
• 7:18
Speaker 7: business is being built there. So it's it's happening right now.
• 7:22
Speaker 3: And one more note on traffic then we're gonna talk
• 7:25
Speaker 3: about some fun stuff. I mean, to me, traffic is fun,
• 7:27
Speaker 3: you know, because it's growth, like you said, and I mean,
• 7:29
Speaker 3: you know, I live right in the middle of it.
• 7:31
Speaker 3: So where I live, it's right in the middle of
• 7:34
Speaker 3: all of it, and I'd say bring it on. But
• 7:37
Speaker 3: I do want to touch on this with you a
• 7:39
Speaker 3: little bit. Is people, I think sometimes forget they think
• 7:42
Speaker 3: that when you're the mayor that you are in charge
• 7:45
Speaker 3: of everything and a lot of the roads, things people
• 7:48
Speaker 3: complain about, traffic, lights and whatever, not really a whole
• 7:51
Speaker 3: lot that the mayor or a city, no matter what
• 7:53
Speaker 3: the mayor citys can do about some of those things.
• 7:57
Speaker 7: Well, I'm no king, So I'm not in control of
• 8:00
Speaker 7: all those things at all, you know, like the like
• 8:04
Speaker 7: the Woodworth farm. You know, a family owned that's seventy
• 8:08
Speaker 7: acres and they sold it to another man and he
• 8:11
Speaker 7: saw it to a development company. It really wasn't the
• 8:14
Speaker 7: city involved in that at all. Now we have to
• 8:16
Speaker 7: make sure, from the city's perspective that they build correctly
• 8:20
Speaker 7: and all the infrastructure goes in right. But we don't
• 8:23
Speaker 7: pick and choose who comes here and who doesn't, you know,
• 8:25
Speaker 7: we don't. People ask me all the time you need
• 8:27
Speaker 7: to get it in down steakhouse, national chain. Well, I
• 8:31
Speaker 7: can't just go call out back and say you must
• 8:33
Speaker 7: locate here. They have to do traffic counts, they have
• 8:36
Speaker 7: to buy land from private individuals or other businesses. They
• 8:39
Speaker 7: have to choose to locate here, and then we make
• 8:41
Speaker 7: sure if it needs you know, rezoned or most like
• 8:44
Speaker 7: it's already zwned properly. We just make sure it's done right.
• 8:47
Speaker 7: It's not a mayor's choice to do that again, not
• 8:51
Speaker 7: a king. It's just a mayor making sure all the
• 8:54
  Speaker 7: rules are followed.
• 8:55
Speaker 3: And you're absolutely right about that, mayor, And people will say, well,
• 8:58
Speaker 3: you know, and it doesn't matter what the city is.
• 9:00
Speaker 4: This is not exclusive to Hurricane.
• 9:01
Speaker 3: It happens everywhere from Charleston to Morgantown, probably all across America.
• 9:04
Speaker 3: People say you need to do this, we need this here,
• 9:07
Speaker 3: and we know you need to do it, you know.
• 9:09
Speaker 3: I mean, just because you're the mayor doesn't necessarily mean
• 9:12
Speaker 3: that you can get these things. I mean, you entrepreneurs
• 9:16
Speaker 3: need to go out and make make sure these things
• 9:18
Speaker 3: come here if you want them here so badly.
• 9:19
  Speaker 6: I for one.
• 9:20
Speaker 3: I mean, look, I like to eat at a chain
• 9:23
Speaker 3: as much as next people as the next person, but
• 9:26
Speaker 3: I would much rather see local places. I mean, I'm
• 9:28
Speaker 3: not interested. I mean I'll eat at you know, in
• 9:31
Speaker 3: Olive Garden, Red Lobster, God bless them. You know, they
• 9:33
Speaker 3: employ a lot of people. I'd much rather see local
• 9:35
  Speaker 3: places come in.
• 9:36
Speaker 4: But that's just me me.
• 9:38
Speaker 7: No, I fully agree with you, me too. And we
• 9:40
Speaker 7: have a lot of local places to eat here in
• 9:43
Speaker 7: Hurricane and Putnam County. And I need to do a
• 9:46
Speaker 7: Facebook post about that soon and give everybody that list again,
• 9:49
Speaker 7: like I do about every year. I mean, we have
• 9:51
Speaker 7: a lot of awesome places we do. We do.
• 9:53
Speaker 3: I mean everything from fireside to fairways to the Bridge
• 9:58
Speaker 3: to Sergio's. I mean on our barbecue, so many, so
• 10:01
Speaker 3: many great places to do there.
• 10:02
Speaker 4: All right, let's talk about Halloween.
• 10:04
Speaker 3: And I know you've got a big event going on
• 10:05
Speaker 3: this weekend, but I want to cover Halloween first. What
• 10:07
Speaker 3: you got going on for Halloween over the next week
• 10:09
  Speaker 3: or so?
• 10:09
  Speaker 4: Mare?
• 10:10
Speaker 7: Yeah, So this weekend, this Saturday, three to six pm
• 10:13
Speaker 7: is our pumpkin carving Extravaganza. It's at the upper section
• 10:17
Speaker 7: of Hurricane Bridge Park Or We'll give away five hundred pumpkins,
• 10:21
Speaker 7: carving tools and kits. We'll have prizes for best pumpkin
• 10:24
Speaker 7: and for age categories, including adults, so you can participate.
• 10:27
Speaker 7: My friend, Oh goodness, We'll have a DJ playing free giveaway,
• 10:31
Speaker 7: those type of things. But at five pm that day,
• 10:34
Speaker 7: we're adding something new to it. It's the inflatable Costume
• 10:37
Speaker 7: Race and it's for all ages and we have prizes, Soul.
• 10:41
Speaker 7: If you would agree to do it, I'll buy your costume.
• 10:44
Speaker 7: It's one of those ones you have to be fully
• 10:46
Speaker 7: encapsulated and you're going to run one hundred yard dash
• 10:49
Speaker 7: and be all the other older folks. So if you
• 10:51
Speaker 7: want to sign up, sign up right here and right now.
• 10:53
Speaker 3: Last time you volunteered me to do karaoke. Now you've
• 10:56
Speaker 3: got me wearing Halloween costumes.
• 10:58
Speaker 7: Well that's in the spring you're going to carry. But
• 11:00
Speaker 7: this Saturday you can get an inflatable costume and race
• 11:03
Speaker 7: with all the other adults. No boy, And then immediately
• 11:06
Speaker 7: following that evening the Haunted Hurricane Bridge Park. So we
• 11:11
Speaker 7: had a haunted house on Main Street last year and
• 11:13
Speaker 7: it was huge. We had no idea it was gonna
• 11:15
Speaker 7: be that big. So this is a multi day event.
• 11:18
Speaker 7: It begins this Saturday, October twenty fifth, immediately following the
• 11:22
Speaker 7: pumpkin carving from six to nine pm. And also it's
• 11:25
Speaker 7: on October thirtieth and thirty first. Now, this is a
• 11:28
Speaker 7: haunted trail system, so we really say it's for kids
• 11:33
Speaker 7: ten and older, but people will bring younger ones. That's fine.
• 11:36
Speaker 7: But there's gonna be a lot of spooky, scary stuff.
• 11:38
Speaker 7: It's really going to be it's gonna be phenomenal. Last
• 11:41
Speaker 7: year's was scary. This one's gonna be really scary. We
• 11:43
Speaker 7: have lots and volunteers and it's going to be real.
• 11:47
Speaker 7: And there's some you know, some little bit of uneven ground,
• 11:50
Speaker 7: some flashing lights, some really scary stuff. Ain't not wanting
• 11:54
Speaker 7: to do this, my friend, because I know you're pretty scared.
• 11:56
Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm extremely scared.
• 12:00
  Speaker 7: Scared.
• 12:00
Speaker 4: I'm scared of what you and a man to sign
• 12:01
  Speaker 4: me up for.
• 12:02
Speaker 7: That's then citywide trig or treat It is October thirty first
• 12:06
Speaker 7: as well from sixty eight pm.
• 12:08
Speaker 3: Yep, right, hyber Con. Last time we were on you
• 12:12
Speaker 3: you talked about this Hybercon thing. Man, This thing is
• 12:15
Speaker 3: huge and it's happening, talk about it.
• 12:17
Speaker 7: Yeah, So Hybercon Games last year, well, I'll tell you
• 12:20
Speaker 7: last year it was in on Catalina Island in California,
• 12:25
Speaker 7: and there's a whole movie on on Primary. I just
• 12:28
Speaker 7: watched it this past week again, an hour long movie
• 12:32
Speaker 7: on this whole on Hybercon Games. It's weekend Friday, Saturday
• 12:35
Speaker 7: and Sunday here in Hurricane This Meek's Mountain Trails Valley Park.
• 12:40
Speaker 7: These are forty eight extreme athletes from all over the
• 12:43
Speaker 7: world Mexico, France, UK, Australia, the United States. These are
• 12:48
Speaker 7: the top tier athletes from all over the world. We've
• 12:52
Speaker 7: talked them into coming here this year, which is wonderful.
• 12:54
Speaker 7: My friend, my very good friend, Matt Stevens. He's part
• 12:57
Speaker 7: of that that team and he really is the one
• 12:59
Speaker 7: that twist to Durham and ask him to come here.
• 13:01
Speaker 7: When Austin Alexander, the founder of Hyberconk Games, came to
• 13:05
Speaker 7: West Virginia, he knew it was a home for him here.
• 13:07
Speaker 7: He knew the games needed to be here. He loved
• 13:10
Speaker 7: our trail system, he loved everything about about Hurricane and
• 13:13
Speaker 7: Putnam County. It's gonna be phenomenal. Now the public is
• 13:16
Speaker 7: invited to watch on October twenty fifth from seven am
• 13:19
Speaker 7: to four pm at Valley Park. So come on out
• 13:22
Speaker 7: watch the Hybriconk Games. That's the one day that the
• 13:25
Speaker 7: that the public can come and watch. It's going to
• 13:28
Speaker 7: be phenomenal. These men and women are unbelievable, unbelievably strong
• 13:33
Speaker 7: and just it's unreal.
• 13:36
Speaker 3: Explain mayor what it is that they do in these competitions.
• 13:40
Speaker 7: Well, they may they may do hand to hand combat,
• 13:42
Speaker 7: wrestling with each other. They may go swimming, they may
• 13:46
Speaker 7: die for things. They might do axe throwing, they might
• 13:51
Speaker 7: start fires the quickest. They might stay outside all night
• 13:55
Speaker 7: in the woods. They may do archery, they may do
• 13:59
Speaker 7: feats of string. We're massive weights, carrying big huge know
• 14:03
Speaker 7: what they call them, big huge two hundred pound bag
• 14:06
Speaker 7: of weights, you know, to four hundred yards, the fastest,
• 14:10
Speaker 7: the quickest. I mean, it's across the board. Everything that
• 14:15
Speaker 7: they do. It it's not just lifting weights, it's not
• 14:18
Speaker 7: just shooting a gun or doing archery. It's it's just unbelievable.
• 14:24
Speaker 7: And there's lots of surprises for the athletes as well.
• 14:27
Speaker 7: Some of them they don't know what they're getting into.
• 14:30
Speaker 7: Its strength, endurance, and probably the biggest one is the
• 14:33
Speaker 7: mental toughness. So they may hit me's mountain trails. And
• 14:37
Speaker 7: again they haven't told everybody all the all the details.
• 14:40
Speaker 7: It's unbelievable. These are the toughest and best athletes across
• 14:44
Speaker 7: the world. They're all world class. You have to you know,
• 14:48
Speaker 7: you have to qualify. You can't even just sign up
• 14:50
Speaker 7: for this. And there's gonna be about thirty thousand dollars
• 14:52
Speaker 7: in cash prizes given. Then there'll be a movie made
• 14:55
Speaker 7: about this one as well. It'll be be out neck,
• 14:58
Speaker 7: you know, in a few months.
• 15:00
Speaker 3: A big, big feather in the cap for the area
• 15:04
Speaker 3: to be able to pull this thing in, not just
• 15:06
Speaker 3: Hurricane Mayor, but the city. I mean, but the state
• 15:08
Speaker 3: of West Virginia, because there's people coming from all over
• 15:11
  Speaker 3: for this.
• 15:11
Speaker 7: Thing, all over the world. And my friend Austin Alexander
• 15:14
Speaker 7: the found he's a social media where he gets about
• 15:19
Speaker 7: ten million views a month, ten so he's all over
• 15:24
Speaker 7: the place. Amazing, amazing man. He's Navy veteran turned entrepreneur.
• 15:29
Speaker 7: But you need to come out if you can and
• 15:31
Speaker 7: see him, and I'll introduce you to all of them.
• 15:33
  Speaker 7: It's wonderful, all.
• 15:34
  Speaker 4: Right, Mayor.
• 15:35
Speaker 3: Always some good things going on, from Halloween to traffic
• 15:38
Speaker 3: to new development and the hybri Con games.
• 15:42
Speaker 7: This fresh fruit at the DG market.
• 15:44
Speaker 3: And fresh fruit at the DG market, man, you can't
• 15:47
Speaker 3: beat at Mayor. Scott Edward's always a pleasure to have
• 15:48
Speaker 3: you in the show. We appreciated buddy, Thanks a lot,
• 15:51
Speaker 3: Thank you, all right, Mayor Edwards of Hurricane Yeah, when
• 15:54
Speaker 3: he was on the show, I guess a couple of
• 15:57
Speaker 3: weeks ago talking about those HYBERCND I can't even like
• 16:00
Speaker 3: imagine that I get tired watching sports on TV that
• 16:03
Speaker 3: these people are going to go through sleep deprivation and
• 16:09
Speaker 3: archery and hiking and carrying weights and hand to hand
• 16:14
Speaker 3: combat and all this more power to you. But it
• 16:18
Speaker 3: is a major, major event for not as I said,
• 16:21
Speaker 3: it's happening this weekend. It's going to be at Valley
• 16:24
Speaker 3: Park and Hurricane, but it's and meex mountain trails and
• 16:27
Speaker 3: so on and so forth. But it's not just for that.
• 16:28
Speaker 3: I mean, people are literally coming from all over the
• 16:30
Speaker 3: world for this thing. It's going to be absolutely, absolutely huge.
• 16:36
Speaker 3: Mary Edward's always pleasure to have him on the show.
• 16:38
Speaker 3: And again, you know, I'm somebody that lives right in
• 16:42
Speaker 3: the middle of all of this, and I see on
• 16:45
Speaker 3: social media people complaining about the traffic and so on
• 16:48
Speaker 3: and so forth, and I get it. I don't particularly
• 16:51
Speaker 3: like you know, last week, I get off the days
• 16:54
Speaker 3: Valley exit to go home. It took me twenty five
• 16:56
Speaker 3: minutes to get from the exit to my home, which

Speaker 3: I can tell you I was in contact but the
• 20:00

• 20:02
Speaker 3: who's kind of a beautification expert from the City of
• 20:06
Speaker 3: Charleston on the show tomorrow, trying to work that out.
• 20:10
Speaker 3: If not, it'll be sometime within next couple of days,
• 20:11
Speaker 3: and yes, Texter, I will ask that question. Jim Workman
• 20:15
Speaker 3: is here knows a little something about beautification, right, Well,
• 20:18
Speaker 3: you're a pretty man, Jim Workman.
• 20:20
Speaker 10: I'm an observer beauty, but I don't know. But the
• 20:23
Speaker 10: mirror does not agree with that.
• 20:26
Speaker 3: I want to start with WVU football. W football big
• 20:30
Speaker 3: blowout loss to Central Florida in Orlando Saturday afternoon on
• 20:33
Speaker 3: National TV. We knew this was going to be a
• 20:37
Speaker 3: rough season, but this rough.
• 20:40
Speaker 10: Yeah, you know, at the beginning of the season when
• 20:42
Speaker 10: we talked, we really had no idea what this team
• 20:45
Speaker 10: was going to be comprised of.
• 20:47
Speaker 3: And that's not unique to West Virginia. Marshall had the
• 20:50
Speaker 3: same thing, as did about one hundred other programs around
• 20:52
  Speaker 3: the country.
• 20:53
Speaker 10: Facts, that's true. At this point of the season, it
• 20:56
Speaker 10: does not look good. I mean, especially the next five games.
• 21:01
Speaker 6: WVU has a six.
• 21:03
Speaker 10: And one team, a five and two team, a three
• 21:06
Speaker 10: and four team which is Colorado, and another five and
• 21:09
Speaker 10: two team and another six and one team left on
• 21:12
Speaker 10: the schedule. It doesn't look like it's going to get
• 21:14
Speaker 10: any better. I hope that they improve. I hope that
• 21:18
Speaker 10: a lot of people don't throw in the towel in
• 21:20
Speaker 10: this new era of college sports and look to transfer
• 21:24
Speaker 10: already because you know it's not going well this year.
• 21:27
Speaker 10: They have to start retaining guys and they have to
• 21:30
Speaker 10: start recruiting better, and you know it's this.
• 21:33
Speaker 6: Year is kind of a wash. I hope that they
• 21:35
  Speaker 6: get strong.
• 21:36
Speaker 4: And we got to you know, try to keep people
• 21:38
  Speaker 4: healthy too.
• 21:38
Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, quarterback wise, they're one step away
• 21:41
Speaker 3: from Colin Hostetler and Putney in mean at this point, well.
• 21:44
Speaker 10: You know it didn't start out well when you lose
• 21:46
Speaker 10: your Bell cow In Jehem White the running back right
• 21:50
Speaker 10: off the beginning, and you know after that you had
• 21:53
Speaker 10: some really inexperience at that position, and then you had
• 21:56
Speaker 10: inexperience at least at WU except for Nico, you know,
• 22:00
Speaker 10: at the quarterback position. So this is a I don't
• 22:04
Speaker 10: even know if you would term it a rebuilding year,
• 22:08
Speaker 10: because every year is going to be a rebuilding year.
• 22:10
Speaker 3: In the current college landscape here, absolutely right. And when
• 22:13
Speaker 3: you see the ones like and now use Clemson for
• 22:16
Speaker 3: an example, you know Dabo Sweeney said we're not going
• 22:18
Speaker 3: to do this. Well, he's not having the best of
• 22:21
Speaker 3: seasons either right now.
• 22:22
Speaker 10: Well, you know, one of his peers actually got out
• 22:25
Speaker 10: of the college football game because of the nature of things,
• 22:28
Speaker 10: and that was Nick Saban, you know. He they came
• 22:31
Speaker 10: through about the same time, having success at the same time,
• 22:35
Speaker 10: and Nick saw the writing on the wall and he said,
• 22:37
Speaker 10: you know what, less stress on the TV booth.
• 22:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you're exactly right, all right, But this week
• 22:43
Speaker 3: we get TCU, Yes, Cole Rush game.
• 22:46
Speaker 4: The uniforms are going to look good. Yes, I'll say that.
• 22:49
Speaker 10: You know, it's kind of a gimmicky thing, but of
• 22:52
Speaker 10: course it is a tribute to our coal miners in
• 22:57
Speaker 10: that industry in the state, which means a whole lot
• 23:00
Speaker 10: to a whole lot of people.
• 23:01
Speaker 6: So that'll be the good part of Saturday.
• 23:04
Speaker 10: And that's once they kicked at once they kick off. Yes,
• 23:07
Speaker 10: it's gonna be tough, and it's homecoming. Yes, yeah, not
• 23:10
Speaker 10: a good opponent for homecoming. But you never know that
• 23:13
  Speaker 10: I never.
• 23:13
Speaker 4: Know, you never know, I meaning, things happen.
• 23:16
Speaker 10: Yeah, so expect the exit at the end of halftime
• 23:20
Speaker 10: to be very crowded.
• 23:22
Speaker 3: So what happens in your opinion, at the end of
• 23:24
Speaker 3: the season. I mean when I mean, I mean, we
• 23:27
Speaker 3: are realistically looking at the fact, and I hope I'm wrong. Okay,
• 23:31
Speaker 3: I hope I'm wrong, But we are realistically looking at
• 23:33
Speaker 3: the fact that WV may not win another game. That's right, Okay,
• 23:37
Speaker 3: this season. So what happens at the end of the season.
• 23:39
Speaker 3: I mean, Rodriguez is not going anywhere. I don't mean that,
• 23:41
Speaker 3: but I mean, what happens at the end of the season.
• 23:43
Speaker 10: I think you regroup, and I think they've probably I mean,
• 23:47
Speaker 10: they'll never admit this, but they're already thinking along those lines,
• 23:50
Speaker 10: and they're talking, probably assistant coaches like hey, hang in there,
• 23:54
Speaker 10: or you know, maybe you need to look for another
• 23:56
Speaker 10: job or whatever. But you just have to regroup. You
• 24:00
Speaker 10: have to retain some of those key players. You have
• 24:02
Speaker 10: to get those guys that are injured healthy and just
• 24:05
Speaker 10: go into the off season with the thought that you know,
• 24:10
Speaker 10: the first time he was through, they won three games
• 24:12
Speaker 10: the first season, and after that it looked really well,
• 24:15
Speaker 10: it looked great. So hopefully that same blueprint works for
• 24:20
  Speaker 10: round two.
• 24:21
Speaker 3: Here is one thing that I have noticed that I
• 24:24
Speaker 3: thought would happened that didn't, especially in the world of
• 24:26
Speaker 3: social media, and everybody you know has got to espouse
• 24:29
Speaker 3: their opinions on X and Facebook and different message boards
• 24:33
Speaker 3: and so on and so forth. I thought that more
• 24:35
Speaker 3: people at this point would have been saying the Rodrigez
• 24:37
  Speaker 3: thing was a mistake, and they're not, And I don't
• 24:39
Speaker 3: and I agree with the people.
• 24:40
Speaker 4: That say it was not. I mean, it's too early
• 24:43
  Speaker 4: to tell.
• 24:44
  Speaker 6: Timing is everything.
• 24:45
Speaker 10: I mean, he the w thing happened when he was
• 24:50
Speaker 10: ready to make the jump. Maybe a year before that
• 24:53
Speaker 10: wouldn't have happened. Maybe this year they don't get rich Rae,
• 24:57
Speaker 10: they go for somebody else. I don't know if a
• 24:59
Speaker 10: James Franklin would be affordable at WVU, but you know
• 25:03
Speaker 10: there's going to be people come available that would look
• 25:07
Speaker 10: at a WU program as a great opportunity. Rod's not
• 25:10
Speaker 10: going anywhere, He's not. But I'm just saying it was
• 25:13
Speaker 10: a timing thing. You know, they got rich Rod. That's
• 25:16
Speaker 10: probably the best they could have done at the time.
• 25:20
Speaker 10: He's a West Virginia guy. You can energize the fan base. Again,
• 25:25
  Speaker 10: I think he's a good recruiter. I think he can
• 25:27
Speaker 10: identify good assistant coaches. So you're just gonna have to
• 25:29
Speaker 10: be patient. And I know that's a dirty word for fans,
• 25:32
Speaker 10: Oh yeah, but patients will pay off we wanted yesterday.
• 25:35

• 26:00
Speaker 3: Uh so, uh, it's coming together in Huntington for Gibby
• 26:04
Speaker 3: and the Thundering Herd. I mean, we knew it was
• 26:06
Speaker 3: going to be a difficult season for them as well,
• 26:09
Speaker 3: but a couple of big win over an old dominion
• 26:12
Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago and doubled overtime this past
• 26:14
Speaker 3: week with a win on homecoming, it's starting to it's
• 26:18
Speaker 3: starting to gel at Huntington, right, Yeah.
• 26:20
Speaker 10: It seems like it, and you know it's a little
• 26:22
Speaker 10: bit like last year and identifying the quarterback. It seemed like,
• 26:26
Speaker 10: you know Braxton at the beginning of last season, You're.
• 26:29
Speaker 6: Like, man, that guy's pretty good. I wonder why he's
• 26:32
Speaker 6: not in the lineup.
• 26:33
Speaker 10: You know, they tried a few things and he gets
• 26:35
Speaker 10: in there and becomes, you know, offensive player of the
• 26:37
Speaker 10: year in the conference. Uh, maybe that's what happens this
• 26:40
Speaker 10: year with Carlos del Rio Wilson. He's playing well. I mean,
• 26:44
Speaker 10: they've got a couple of great running backs, a couple
• 26:47
Speaker 10: of good receivers, and I tell you what, the defense
• 26:51
Speaker 10: bent and did not break at the end, made some
• 26:54
Speaker 10: big plays. But man, how frustrating was it for Thundering
• 26:58
Speaker 10: Herd fans to see Texas State keep running that same
• 27:02
Speaker 10: screenplay over and over and over again, and they just
• 27:06
Speaker 10: got big yardage out of it, kept them in the game.
• 27:08
Speaker 10: And guess what, in the fourth quarter, Marshall starts doing
• 27:12
Speaker 10: the same play, which moved them down the field in
• 27:15
Speaker 10: the ultimately in two OT's they win.
• 27:18
Speaker 3: Talking to you with Jim Workman, the head of the
• 27:19
Speaker 3: Western New Sports Writers Association, of course, of Wally and Whippies.
• 27:22
Speaker 4: Two more than that coming up a little later on.
• 27:23
Speaker 3: Tex says, I got to say this mouth in here
• 27:26
Speaker 3: wants to be why you Cougar's to go on and
• 27:27
Speaker 3: win at all their teams, school and fans have so
• 27:29
Speaker 3: much to be proud of, and that they show nothing
• 27:32
Speaker 3: but kindness, hospitality and respect to all opponents, first class
• 27:35
  Speaker 3: all the way.
• 27:36
Speaker 10: You know, if that's the case, Duke Blue Devils are
• 27:39
Speaker 10: the national champions every year. I had a good experience
• 27:42
Speaker 10: down at Duke watching Florida State and Duke a few
• 27:44
Speaker 10: years ago. I mean they were thanking people for coing.
• 27:47
Speaker 10: It was free parking a block from the stadium. It
• 27:50
Speaker 10: was ten buck tickets. I mean, Duke wins. Miscongeniality in
• 27:56
  Speaker 10: college football.
• 27:57
Speaker 3: There's that could be fighting words to a lot of people,
• 28:00
Speaker 3: because as we get ready to go to the college
• 28:02
Speaker 3: basketball season, Duke is wonted. Duke is like my Dallas Cowboys, Jimbo.
• 28:06
Speaker 3: People either love them or hate them. There's like there's
• 28:08
  Speaker 3: no in between.
• 28:09
Speaker 10: True, true, But the football is a little different up there,
• 28:11
Speaker 10: and they're getting better.
• 28:12
Speaker 6: They've been getting better.
• 28:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, so I want to switch gears here
• 28:16
Speaker 3: for a moment. We reported on this, as did several
• 28:19
Speaker 3: media outlets. Jim Big High school rivalry game originally set
• 28:24
Speaker 3: for Friday night between tug Valley and Tulsa. That game
• 28:27
Speaker 3: is being moved to Thursday because they can't get officials.
• 28:31
Speaker 3: Simply put, no one wants to be a referee anymore,
• 28:36
Speaker 3: and can you blame them?
• 28:38
  Speaker 10: Yeah, that's it's a big issue. They've been talking about
• 28:42
Speaker 10: that for a couple of years. The SSEC has put
• 28:45
Speaker 10: out like public service announcements, they've been posting on the
• 28:51
Speaker 10: social media channels. They need officials. I mean, they're getting older.
• 28:55
Speaker 10: I mean, the guys that have been in it, and
• 28:58
Speaker 10: let's face it, that's that's a physical it is physical challenge.
• 29:02
Speaker 10: When you're running up and down the field, you're dodging
• 29:05
Speaker 10: football players, I mean, and there's.
• 29:08
Speaker 3: A dodge more than football players these days. You're you're
• 29:10
Speaker 3: you're dodging idiot parents and grandparents too to a certain extent,
• 29:13
Speaker 3: because look, I mean, our society and not to play
• 29:16
Speaker 3: amateur psychologists here, our society. I'm going to put it
• 29:19
Speaker 3: in the most scientific terms I can. Our society is nuts. Okay,
• 29:24
Speaker 3: it's freaking nuts right now. And everybody thinks it's you
• 29:28
Speaker 3: know that they're going to be a warrior and that
• 29:30
Speaker 3: you're not going to pick on my baby and whatever,
• 29:32
Speaker 3: and your baby probably not attempt doesn't care. You know,
• 29:35
Speaker 3: they just want to play the game. I mean, would
• 29:38
Speaker 3: you want to be an official?
• 29:40
Speaker 10: No, you know, And to your point, I think, of
• 29:43
Speaker 10: course everybody is uh. You know, you can have your
• 29:47
Speaker 10: own opinion, but pick and choose when and how you
• 29:50
Speaker 10: voice it. I think especially at a football game. You know,
• 29:54
Speaker 10: using bad language is not good in public. I don't
• 29:57
Speaker 10: think it really makes you, your team, your community look bad.
• 30:02
Speaker 10: And to blame the refs on you know, your team's
• 30:06
Speaker 10: inability to do whatever is most times a stretch because
• 30:12
  Speaker 10: the referees do have a tough game, I don't a
• 30:15
Speaker 10: tough job. But you know they're not out to get you. No,
• 30:21
Speaker 10: You're not that important really much more. Listen, they just
• 30:24
Speaker 10: want to see the zeros at the end, and they
• 30:26
Speaker 10: want to get in their car and go home and
• 30:28
  Speaker 10: be safe.
• 30:28
  Speaker 3: And it's just I mean again, and I think it's
• 30:31
  Speaker 3: a societal issue. I mean, there's a people listeners heard
• 30:35
Speaker 3: me say this over the year.
• 30:36
  Speaker 2: Jam.
• 30:36
Speaker 4: There's a couple of jobs that I would not want
• 30:38
  Speaker 4: to do.
• 30:38
Speaker 3: I don't want to be a police officer because of
• 30:40
Speaker 3: a lack of respect we have for police officers. Don't
• 30:42
Speaker 3: really want to be a teacher because of a lack
• 30:44
Speaker 3: of respect we have for teachers. I'm gonna add referee
• 30:48
Speaker 3: to that list too. Emergency services worker is another one
• 30:51
Speaker 3: right now, because I mean those guys and gals just
• 30:53
Speaker 3: I mean, they really go through it. And another one
• 30:55
Speaker 3: would be official, be a referee. I mean, it's just,
• 30:58
Speaker 3: you know, it's just where we are.
• 31:00
Speaker 10: You're facing a lot of challenges. I think that you know,
• 31:03
Speaker 10: they're going to make a push to educate people about
• 31:09
Speaker 10: you know, respecting officials, and you know, they make the
• 31:14
Speaker 10: announcements before football games, basketball games, and then they're going
• 31:18
Speaker 10: to maybe arm the officials with you know, some tips
• 31:22
Speaker 10: on how to get through it. And you know what,
• 31:24
Speaker 10: in a lot of the state, and I think it
• 31:26
Speaker 10: may be even a state law. We need to look
• 31:28
Speaker 10: that up, but it's probably at least a misdemeanor and
• 31:32
Speaker 10: you could probably go to jail for certain things. And
• 31:35
Speaker 10: I applaud Shawnee Park for making some upgrades in their
• 31:41
Speaker 10: policies in dealing with fan behavior over there as well.
• 31:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, if you can't behave just kick them out right,
• 31:46
Speaker 3: I mean, and I've said that, and we actually had
• 31:48
Speaker 3: an instance in the old hometown about fifteen twenty years
• 31:53
Speaker 3: ago that the officials it was a big basketball boys
• 31:56
Speaker 3: basketball game between Logan and West Side. The officials kicked
• 31:59
Speaker 3: every fan out and they played the game.
• 32:02
Speaker 6: They should have that in their arsenal.
• 32:04
Speaker 3: I mean, look, the majority of games are either broadcast
• 32:07
Speaker 3: on radio or they're streamed or something. Anyway, if you
• 32:10
Speaker 3: can't be we are going to get to a point, Jim,
• 32:12
Speaker 3: in this country where that's what's going to happen. Fans
• 32:15
Speaker 3: are not going to be allowed to come to the games.
• 32:16
Speaker 3: If we don't write this ship.
• 32:18
Speaker 10: Well, it definitely becomes a safety issue. So I would
• 32:21
Speaker 10: not blame the referees or the administration of the host
• 32:24
Speaker 10: school if they emptied the gym sometimes and it there
• 32:28
Speaker 10: was the threat of that, maybe it would quell some
• 32:31
Speaker 10: of the unruly fans, and maybe they need to police
• 32:34
  Speaker 10: themselves too.
• 32:35
Speaker 3: Let's talk about wall and Whimpies. Of course, the state's
• 32:37
  Speaker 3: premiere sports publication.
• 32:39
Speaker 6: You can use that.
• 32:40
Speaker 10: They use that all right, trademark Davey twenty five.
• 32:44
Speaker 3: We know that you do these wally and whimpes nights
• 32:47
Speaker 3: of Buffalo wild Wings across lanes once what but you
• 32:50
Speaker 3: just had one You span this a little bit, right.
• 32:53
Speaker 10: Yeah, you know, we always do Buffalo Wild Wings and
• 32:56
Speaker 10: Cross Lanes, Wally's and Whimp'ess Night on the third Thursday
• 32:59
Speaker 10: of every month. We're going to continue doing that. It's
• 33:02
Speaker 10: been a great success for seven years. This year we
• 33:05
Speaker 10: added some live events at some subways. We are visiting
• 33:09
Speaker 10: eleven of them in the area and this is kind
• 33:12
Speaker 10: of a different twist to that in that we come
• 33:15
Speaker 10: to you Basically, you know, we invite people to come
• 33:17
Speaker 10: to Cross Lanes do the event, but we're visiting a
• 33:21
Speaker 10: lot of area locations. This Thursday, we're going to be
• 33:24
Speaker 10: at the Winfield Subway and it's going to be more
• 33:28
Speaker 10: than just giving away prizes. We're actually gonna honor the
• 33:31
Speaker 10: Winfield softball team, which they have seven seniors coming back
• 33:35
Speaker 10: this spring. They've won three straight state championships, so definitely
• 33:40
Speaker 10: worth honoring that team and coach Steve Hensley as a
• 33:44
Speaker 10: friend of mine, he's the Winfield softball coach. Before he
• 33:47
Speaker 10: was a softball coach, he was a successful baseball coach
• 33:50
Speaker 10: at Winfield and just had a great career. He's got
• 33:54
Speaker 10: a great team and we're going to honor those guys
• 33:57
Speaker 10: and ladies Thursday Infield Subway six o'clock to seven thirty,
• 34:02
Speaker 10: and we'll be going to many other subway locations as well.
• 34:06
Speaker 3: And remind people how they can read Wally and Whimpies
• 34:09
  Speaker 3: because you're you're digital now.
• 34:10
Speaker 10: Yeah, and not only are we digital, this year we
• 34:13
Speaker 10: went daily, so we are producing content every day, pushing
• 34:17
Speaker 10: it out to people's inboxes digitally. And you can go
• 34:21
Speaker 10: to wallywimpiesports dot com and get the information you need.
• 34:25
Speaker 10: If you want to support us for four dollars a month,
• 34:28
Speaker 10: you'll get it delivered to your inbox every morning.
• 34:30
Speaker 3: For less than well, I was gonna say less than
• 34:33
Speaker 3: a burger, but I don't know whether that's true or not.
• 34:35
Speaker 6: Less than a Starbucks cop at Neil the Coffee.
• 34:37
Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, Jim Martman. And also you're the president
• 34:40
Speaker 3: of Westernian Sports Writers Association. You guys got anything big
• 34:43
  Speaker 3: going on?
• 34:43
  Speaker 4: I tell you.
• 34:44
Speaker 10: I mean we're already in week eight, I believe of
• 34:48
  Speaker 10: high school football.
• 34:49
Speaker 6: I mean it's going to come up.
• 34:50
Speaker 10: You know, we're going to be doing our all state
• 34:54
Speaker 10: We're sending ballots out to the coaches and the writers.
• 34:58
Speaker 10: Of course that's done Championship Weekend, which is in Charleston
• 35:01
Speaker 10: now for the second year first weekend of December, and
• 35:05
Speaker 10: you know, it's it's always a busy time with the
• 35:07
Speaker 10: West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
• 35:09
Speaker 6: Speaking of that, you need to go to.
• 35:11
Speaker 10: WVSWA dot org and check out the website. There's just
• 35:14
Speaker 10: a ton of information on the sports writers website.
• 35:17
Speaker 3: And of course, it was announced not long ago that
• 35:19
Speaker 3: the city of Huntington's going to be taken over the
• 35:21
Speaker 3: baseball championships. And they all knew Jack cook Field down there.
• 35:25
Speaker 3: Charleston's been a great host for a number of years.
• 35:26
Speaker 3: But you know, and I know the city of Charleston
• 35:30
Speaker 3: has been very happy to host them. I know the
• 35:31
Speaker 3: city of Huntington, I'll be happy to host them as well.
• 35:33
  Speaker 10: I don't mind that. And you know, I didn't mind
• 35:35
Speaker 10: football for a while and Wheeling. I don't mind traveling
• 35:38
Speaker 10: through the state for state championships. If they do it right, great,
• 35:41
Speaker 10: I mean, just think about Huntington. You know, just a
• 35:44
Speaker 10: few years ago it was frustrating that they couldn't build
• 35:47
Speaker 10: a ballpark, I know, and all of a sudden they
• 35:50
Speaker 10: get it. They've got Marshall having a good baseball team,
• 35:54
Speaker 10: sun Belts a good baseball conference, and then they bring
• 35:57
Speaker 10: in the the Cold Cats. Yeah, and then they you know,
• 36:02
Speaker 10: they're hosting the high school baseball championships. Pretty amazing for Huntington.
• 36:07
Speaker 10: Hats off to them.
• 36:08
Speaker 3: All right, Jim, I appreciate it as always.
• 36:10

• 39:15
Speaker 3: a water outage over there, YESTRAA. I think a water
• 39:18
Speaker 3: main break or something like that. So a lot of
• 39:20
Speaker 3: the areas in Putnam County, especially in toward Hurricane Tese Valley,
• 39:24
Speaker 3: under a boil water advisory right now. And I'll tell
• 39:28
Speaker 3: you the way I started my day this morning. I
• 39:30
Speaker 3: get up this I get up this morning.
• 39:33
  Speaker 4: Uh and uh.
• 39:34
Speaker 3: Normally my wife will have the coffee ready.
• 39:38
Speaker 4: You know, before we go to bed.
• 39:39
Speaker 3: And for one reason another last night, you know, she
• 39:42
Speaker 3: a little a little tired and we didn't get that
• 39:44
Speaker 3: done last night. So I get up this morning and
• 39:45
  Speaker 3: I thought, well, I'll be a nice guy and I'll
• 39:47
Speaker 3: make the coffee. So I put the coffee and I'm
• 39:50
Speaker 3: I'm not a curious guy, I don't drink just one cup.
• 39:53
Speaker 4: Of coffee, so I want a pot of coffee, and
• 39:55
  Speaker 4: so I go.
• 39:56
Speaker 3: In and put the water in, put the coffee in,
• 40:00
Speaker 3: start it, go sit down on the on the couch

Speaker 3: job in so many ways with our city recreation, housing,
• 40:40
Speaker 3: business growth. The mayor just a tremendous leader, says a
• 40:44
Speaker 3: texture Tex says Dave. The disgusting rise of widespread lack
• 40:50
Speaker 3: of respect for all authority figures we all see through life, police, teachers, refs,
• 40:55
Speaker 3: even parents, and now basically spit upon by a lot
• 40:57
Speaker 3: of younger kids taught by example by dis respectful parents

Speaker 3: who never had consequences for their own actions. Do you
• 41:04
Speaker 3: want to remind you that this is a big event

Speaker 3: happening Thursday night in Eleanor at the Putnam Career and

• 41:13
Speaker 3: in conjunction with the Putnam County Development Authority. It's kind
• 41:15
Speaker 3: of an open house for the Career and Tech Tech
• 41:18
Speaker 3: Center also a huge job fair, and you can contact
• 41:20
Speaker 3: the folks that the Development Authority Putnam County if you
• 41:23
Speaker 3: need more information. They are still accepting employers to be there.
• 41:26
Speaker 3: I mean there are several hundred people attended this thing
• 41:28
Speaker 3: last year. They're doing shuttle you know, transit from the
• 41:32
Speaker 3: Pigley Wigley there to get you there. It is free
• 41:35
Speaker 3: and it's open to the public. So if you are

Speaker 3: an employer looking to hire people, or you are an
• 41:41
Speaker 3: employee looking to get hired, this is the thing for you.
• 41:44
Speaker 3: Plenty of great food, they got the fun things for

Speaker 3: And as I said, I'll be there on KWS from

• 42:18
Speaker 3: We have seen progress as a taxster. Texas just gave

Speaker 3: and we are buying a jet for one hundred and
• 42:30

Speaker 3: rebuild part of the White House. And the farmers in
• 42:35
Speaker 3: America are broke. A lot of people are upset about
• 42:37
Speaker 3: the whole thing at the White House with Trump. I
• 42:39
Speaker 3: will say this, and you know I'm not a Trump guy. Okay.
• 42:43
Speaker 3: That's being paid for by private donations. It's not being

• 42:47
  Speaker 7: Now.
• 42:47
Speaker 3: Does that make it right? No, not necessarily, but it is.

• 45:33
Speaker 9: They help you find a vehicle that you love and

• 45:38

Speaker 9: are welcome, and they'll give you a top dollar for it,
• 45:43
Speaker 9: even if you plan to buy somewhere else.
• 45:45
Speaker 4: But why would you?
• 45:46
Speaker 9: You know, it's good to know that in a world
• 45:47
Speaker 9: full of constant change, there are some things that remain
• 45:50
Speaker 9: consistent and that some car dealers still believe in treating

• 46:51
Speaker 3: why we promoted it not only on this show, but
• 46:54
Speaker 3: also a Metro News Midday yesterday, because last year there
• 46:56
Speaker 3: were literally people from all over this part of the

• 47:26
  Speaker 3: Boiling water, right, I mean, it's it's probably good, It's
• 47:29
Speaker 3: probably fine. So who's going to replace State Senator Mike Stewart,
• 47:34
Speaker 3: who resigned to take an appointment with the Trump administration. Well,
• 47:36
Speaker 3: here is what I am told on good authority. This
• 47:41
Speaker 3: would be, of course, to finish out Stuart's term State
• 47:44
Speaker 3: Senator District seven, former Delegate Zach Maynard, Monica Ballard Booth,
• 47:49
Speaker 3: and Dustin Moore. Now those are the names I am hearing.
• 47:53
Speaker 3: Nothing official yet, but I did have a conversation this
• 47:56
Speaker 3: morning with some folks that he said, yeah, you're free
• 48:01
Speaker 3: to put that out there. There was a meeting held
• 48:02
Speaker 3: last night until around eleven o'clock or so, and now
• 48:06
Speaker 3: those three names will go to the governor. So the
• 48:10
Speaker 3: names I'm here in former Della get Zach Mandard, Monica
• 48:12
Speaker 3: Bowder Booth and a Dustin Moore. Nothing official yet, That's
• 48:16
Speaker 3: just what I'm told and they will now go to
• 48:20
Speaker 3: the governor for his selection for when I am sold,
• 48:26
Speaker 3: Texas says, Dave Trump promised he would not touch the
• 48:29
Speaker 3: White House proper when building his ballroom. What would build
• 48:32
Speaker 3: his separate structure. He did say that, He did say that.
• 48:35
Speaker 3: He said there nothing would be demolished. And by golly,
• 48:39
Speaker 3: I'm no construction expert. That looked like some demolishing going
• 48:42
Speaker 3: on there last night. So what I saw, tex says
• 48:48
Speaker 3: another broken promise from Trump. Well it looks like him,

Speaker 3: Tex says, Hey, Dave, Hi, how about Disney raising their
• 49:28
Speaker 3: subscription price? I thought things were supposed to get less
• 49:32
Speaker 3: expensive and prices were to stop rising after Trump got elected.
• 49:35
Speaker 4: The exact opposite is happening. I did not know.
• 49:38
Speaker 3: I don't know the first thing about Disney, so I
• 49:40
Speaker 3: couldn't answer that. You know something I read an article
• 49:45
Speaker 3: totally unrelated. I read an article last night about Tvo.
• 49:51
Speaker 3: Do you remember Tvo? When Tvo first came out, like
• 49:54
Speaker 3: what twenty twenty five years ago, it was the be
• 49:56
Speaker 3: all end all, you know, no more clunky VCRs, things
• 50:00
Speaker 3: of that nature. Ti Vo is actually has announced they
• 50:04
Speaker 3: are no longer gonna make the Tvo machine, the actual machine.
• 50:07
Speaker 3: I didn't know it actually was a machine. To be
• 50:10
Speaker 3: honest with you, I'm that I'm the last guy out
• 50:13
Speaker 3: there if it still has cable. Okay, so I get
• 50:16
Speaker 3: Tvo with my cable subscription, and so it's not a machine.
• 50:20
Speaker 3: It's magic somehow. It's just in the back of my TV.
• 50:23
Speaker 3: I don't know how it works, uh, but I got it.
• 50:30
Speaker 4: It just works. But they're no longer making the machine.
• 50:33
Speaker 3: From what I understand, text says Hulu will be combined
• 50:36
Speaker 3: to do Disney Plus soon.
• 50:38
Speaker 4: This is a texture. You gotta get me one of them.
• 50:40
Speaker 4: Hulu's one of these days again, I'm gonna get a Hulu.
• 50:43
Speaker 4: I'm gonna get that.
• 50:44
Speaker 3: I'm gonna get me a TikTok one of these days too.
• 50:46
Speaker 3: I'm gonna work on those two things. We talked about
• 50:48
Speaker 3: this a little bit yesterday on Metro News mid Day.
• 50:51
Speaker 3: Brad Michaelhanney leads story this morning at wv metronews dot com.
• 50:56
Speaker 3: The I R S has filed two leans for unclaimed
• 51:01
Speaker 3: taxes by Senator Jim Justice and his wife Kathy to
• 51:06
Speaker 3: the two to more than eight million dollars.
• 51:08
  Speaker 4: Now.
• 51:08
Speaker 3: Politico was the first to come out with this story,
• 51:11
Speaker 3: and of course Brad expanded upon it on the air
• 51:13
Speaker 3: and online. We had him on Metro News Midday during
• 51:15
Speaker 3: the two o'clock hour yesterday, and he's got the lead story.
• 51:19
Speaker 3: It's posted this morning at wv Metronews dot com The
• 51:23
Speaker 3: leans were filed by the IRS with the Greenbrier County
• 51:27
Speaker 3: Clerk's office going back to October second, and I will
• 51:33
Speaker 3: spare you all the financials because well you know numbers
• 51:38
Speaker 3: and you can read it for yourself as part of
• 51:41
Speaker 3: Brad's story. The question that I would ask though, when
• 51:46
Speaker 3: Brad posted the story yesterday and we went live with
• 51:49
Speaker 3: it on the website then on the air with Brad yesterday,
• 51:51
Speaker 3: is any of it going to matter when it pertains
• 51:56
Speaker 3: to Jim Justice's popularity in West Virginia. And I'm gonna
• 51:59
Speaker 3: get give you the answer to that. It is a big,
• 52:02
Speaker 3: resounding no, Jim Justice is I am going to go
• 52:08
Speaker 3: out on a limb here because certain things, some things
• 52:11
Speaker 3: that the Trump administration done is anchored some of his
• 52:14
Speaker 3: supporters in West Virginia. I must say, Jim Justice, they
• 52:17
Speaker 3: knew all the financial issues before he was elected as
• 52:20
Speaker 3: a Democrat didn't matter, and anything that's come out since
• 52:23
Speaker 3: then simply has not mattered. He will remain as popular
• 52:26
Speaker 3: as ever. Not passing judgment, just stating a fact.
• 52:31
Speaker 4: All Right, we gotta go. Thank you so much.
