Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Art, and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Steve Yanni, Brody Randall, Krin, Seth
- 0:20Speaker 2: Chester and Mark. This is normally a ten round quiz
- 0:23Speaker 2: show with questions for meat eaters four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation,
- 0:28Speaker 2: and cooking. But today's game will be a bit different
- 0:31Speaker 2: because this is our one hundredth episode. Thank you Steve.
- 0:37Speaker 2: When we started this and get our first round of
- 0:40Speaker 2: trivia way back in twenty twenty one, did you think
- 0:42Speaker 2: this concept had one hundred episodes in it?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Oh, definitely you did.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I don't know if you remember, but the first day
- 0:49Speaker 2: we walked in, we were.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Going to say something otherwise.
- 0:51Speaker 2: No, you were. You were incredibly optimistic, like intimidatingly. So
- 0:57Speaker 2: you're like, now, what is this thing we're doing today?
- 0:59Speaker 2: And I was like, We're gonna like play trivia with
- 1:01Speaker 2: you guys, and you know, I'm hosting you guys. Have
- 1:05Speaker 2: the provide the answers and stuff and explain it a
- 1:08Speaker 2: bit to you, Like give me an example question. So
- 1:10Speaker 2: I gave you an example question, like we should make
- 1:12Speaker 2: a board game about this.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Oh, so you're way too.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Optimistic based on one question I gave you. And now
- 1:18Speaker 2: we've made a board game. And here we are on
- 1:20Speaker 2: episode one hundred. Now, for today's episode, we're not playing trivia. Instead,
- 1:26Speaker 2: we'll be playing a game that I'm referring to as
- 1:28Speaker 2: the meat Pole like poll instead of pol e This
- 1:33Speaker 2: is a test of how much you know about your
- 1:36Speaker 2: fellow hunters and anglers. I serve a two hundred and
- 1:39Speaker 2: fifty outdoorsmen who are meat Eater employees and meat Eater listeners.
- 1:43Speaker 2: They were asked questions about personal experiences and personal preferences.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Your job is to predict their answers. Here's how the
- 1:50Speaker 2: game works. There will be one round per player. That
- 1:53Speaker 2: means for today's game, there will be eight normal rounds
- 1:57Speaker 2: with one bonus round at the end. Each player will
- 2:00Speaker 2: take a turn as the guesser. When it's your turn
- 2:03Speaker 2: to be the guesser, your you'll answer a question that's
- 2:06Speaker 2: related to my polling data. All answers will be in
- 2:09Speaker 2: the form of percentages. Then, after the guesser has provided
- 2:13Speaker 2: their number, our other players will predict if the real
- 2:16Speaker 2: answer is higher or lower. The guesser will receive points
- 2:20Speaker 2: based on how close they are to the real answer,
- 2:22Speaker 2: and the other players will receive points based on if
- 2:25Speaker 2: they are correctly if they correctly choose higher or lower.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I know this sounds.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Complicated because thing you did.
- 2:32Speaker 2: We will we have two practice rounds. I know this
- 2:35Speaker 2: sounds complicated because it's new. I promise they'll catch you
- 2:38Speaker 2: on right away. The hardest part of the game is
- 2:41Speaker 2: actually scorekeeping, which Phil is doing for you and for
- 2:44Speaker 2: our players at home. You can check out the description
- 2:47Speaker 2: of this podcast episode for how scorekeeping works. You'll find
- 2:51Speaker 2: all the information you need there. Now, before we play,
- 2:53Speaker 2: we're going to do two test runs to make sure
- 2:55Speaker 2: everyone is comfortable with this concept. These do not count.
- 2:58Speaker 2: These are simply practic. This rounds okay. Now, for the
- 3:01Speaker 2: first practice round, Yanni will be the guesser. That means
- 3:04Speaker 2: Janis will provide the answer, and after he's done so,
- 3:08Speaker 2: everyone else will predict if the real answer is higher
- 3:11Speaker 2: or lower than Yannis's answer. So Yanni is the guesser
- 3:15Speaker 2: for this question. Here's your question, Yanni, what percentage of
- 3:19Speaker 2: Americans think the moon landing was faked? So now you'll
- 3:24Speaker 2: think out loud.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Here, it's not one percentage of Americans because you one
- 3:28Speaker 3: percent of survey those surveys.
- 3:30Speaker 2: But I'm giving you an example of some real like
- 3:32Speaker 2: Pew research. There's not part no, this was this is
- 3:35Speaker 2: specifically to Americans. Yanni, think out loud, talk us through
- 3:39Speaker 2: your answer, how you're going to arrive at your number,
- 3:42Speaker 2: and then you'll write down your number for the whole
- 3:44Speaker 2: room to see. So your question is what percentage of
- 3:47Speaker 2: Americans think the moon landing was faked?
- 3:50Speaker 4: I know it's a thing, I've heard of it, but
- 3:53Speaker 4: I still think that it's a very small number. Huh,
- 3:57Speaker 4: so small that it might not even be a whole percent.
- 4:04Speaker 2: So yeah, go ahead, go ahead and write down your
- 4:07Speaker 2: number for what you based on that.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I'm gonna go with three. Do you need a decimal?
- 4:14Speaker 2: No, just just three percent. So we now know Yanni's
- 4:18Speaker 2: number is three percent. You will have written in on
- 4:20Speaker 2: his whiteboard. Everyone else in the room, the other seven
- 4:24Speaker 2: players will say if they think the real answer is
- 4:26Speaker 2: higher or lower than three percent, what.
- 4:30Speaker 5: If everyone were to answer fifty?
- 4:34Speaker 2: Well, but you'll find you find that episode, you'll find
- 4:38Speaker 2: that the questions aren't necessarily meant to split it on.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I'm going to dominate this I'm predicting that.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Steve knows his fellow hunters and anglers well, so higher lower,
- 4:48Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answer.
- 4:50Speaker 6: We have chests.
- 4:50Speaker 2: You're saying lower than three percent, Brody saying higher, Randall's
- 4:57Speaker 2: saying higher, Set saying higher, Karen saying higher, Steve saying higher.
- 5:02Speaker 2: The correct answer is eleven percent, So nearly everybody correctly
- 5:07Speaker 2: predicted which direction the real answer would be. As far
- 5:12Speaker 2: as Yanni's part of this game, he said three percent.
- 5:15Speaker 2: He was eight points off of the correct answer. That
- 5:18Speaker 2: would be worth seven points. In how this scoring works,
- 5:23Speaker 2: the scoring if you nail it, if you nail it
- 5:26Speaker 2: right on the nose. So say the answer is fifty
- 5:29Speaker 2: and you say fifty, that's fifteen points that you get.
- 5:33Speaker 2: If you're one off, that's fourteen. If you're two off
- 5:35Speaker 2: that's thirteen, three off that's twelve. This goes all the
- 5:38Speaker 2: way to ten. If you were ten off of the
- 5:39Speaker 2: correct answer, that's worth five points. For everybody else who
- 5:43Speaker 2: predict who correctly said higher, you get five points.
- 5:46Speaker 7: Good luck.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Phil.
- 5:48Speaker 2: What if you're like I'm then you don't get points
- 5:52Speaker 2: if you're more than ten off. If you're eleven off
- 5:55Speaker 2: of the real answer that's worth zero.
- 5:58Speaker 6: Ten.
- 5:59Speaker 8: Isn't it weird that we haven't been back to the
- 6:00Speaker 8: moon though, in like fifty years?
- 6:03Speaker 3: Number and every time about how hard it is because
- 6:06Speaker 3: you have folks think the moon, because there's there's some atmosphere.
- 6:14Speaker 8: There's a lot of questions.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, we're gonna do a second practice round.
- 6:17Speaker 7: A lot of people questions, we're doing a.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Second It's okay, Mark, it's okay. Steve will be the
- 6:24Speaker 2: guesser on this One's That means Steve will provide an answer,
- 6:26Speaker 2: and after he's done so everyone else will say, I
- 6:28Speaker 2: it's the real answer is higher or lower?
- 6:30Speaker 1: I'm up.
- 6:31Speaker 2: This is a second practice round. Okay, we're not to
- 6:33Speaker 2: the real game yet. Again, and this is not my polling,
- 6:36Speaker 2: This is like Pew research. Here you go, Steve. What
- 6:39Speaker 2: percentage of American adults have TikTok? This is as of
- 6:44Speaker 2: twenty twenty adult someone over eighteen eighteen? Yeah, what what
- 6:51Speaker 2: you're not?
- 6:52Speaker 9: Well?
- 6:52Speaker 2: I don't think they would have some weirder definition.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Percentage of Americans over eighteen have TikTok.
- 6:58Speaker 2: If you'd like to word it that way, I think
- 7:00Speaker 2: we'll arrive at the same outcome. What percentage of American
- 7:04Speaker 2: adults have TikTok? Would you like to talk us through
- 7:06Speaker 2: how you were arriving at your answer. You're just gonna
- 7:09Speaker 2: play quiet, okay, Steve, go ahead and reveal your answer.
- 7:12Speaker 2: He is saying twenty percent. So now everyone else say
- 7:16Speaker 2: higher or lower than twenty percent. Steve is the guesser,
- 7:20Speaker 2: so he came up with a number or other seven
- 7:22Speaker 2: players are writing down if they think the real answer
- 7:24Speaker 2: is higher or lower than twenty.
- 7:28Speaker 5: I'm assuming we should hide our boards when we're doing that. Yeah,
- 7:31Speaker 5: when we're.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Playing the real game, go ahead and hind your boards. Now,
- 7:34Speaker 2: go ahead and show your answers.
- 7:36Speaker 4: We have chess.
- 7:36Speaker 2: You're saying higher, Brody's saying higher, Mark saying higher, Randall's
- 7:39Speaker 2: saying lower, Seth saying higher, Karin saying higher, Yanni's saying higher.
- 7:45Speaker 2: The correct answer is fifty four percent, Steve was thirty
- 7:49Speaker 2: four percent.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Of people need to You must be wrong about what
- 7:54Speaker 1: an adult is.
- 7:55Speaker 2: How many people in this room have TikTok's illegal to Montana,
- 8:00Speaker 2: isn't it?
- 8:01Speaker 1: Phil? Tiktoko?
- 8:03Speaker 2: Okay?
- 8:03Speaker 4: Two people?
- 8:04Speaker 2: So this room is fifty four percent of adults.
- 8:08Speaker 7: I think that's adults between eighteen and thirty.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Four, eighteen, eighteen, and nineteen.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Well those are still okay. Good thing is it doesn't count.
- 8:18Speaker 6: It was just a practicektok.
- 8:20Speaker 2: He's very good at TikTok.
- 8:22Speaker 10: And I don't think that the folks who work am
- 8:23Speaker 10: mediator necessarily a direct reflection of a lot of the
- 8:26Speaker 10: American public.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Okay, Now, before we get started, let's talk a bit
- 8:29Speaker 2: of strategy. As a reminder, this data is based on
- 8:32Speaker 2: my survey of two hundred and fifty meat eater employees
- 8:35Speaker 2: and listeners. That broke down to about fifty meat eater
- 8:38Speaker 2: employees and two hundred listeners. If that helps inform your
- 8:41Speaker 2: answers at all. These were not just some yahoo's I
- 8:43Speaker 2: grabbed outside of a seers in Kenosha. Now, next, your
- 8:47Speaker 2: best opportunity to score points is by doing a great
- 8:50Speaker 2: job when you're the guesser. You can earn up to
- 8:53Speaker 2: fifteen points as the guesser, while everyone else can only
- 8:56Speaker 2: earn five points by correctly answering higher or lower. So
- 9:00Speaker 2: your one opportunity as the guesser is very important. Your
- 9:04Speaker 2: other best chance at scoring a lot of points is
- 9:05Speaker 2: in the bonus round. At the end, I'll explain those
- 9:07Speaker 2: rules when we get to it. Also, if you're playing
- 9:10Speaker 2: along at home and want to see how you stack
- 9:12Speaker 2: up against the room, then randomly pick a number between
- 9:15Speaker 2: one and eight. That number will be when it's your
- 9:17Speaker 2: turn to be the guesser for every other round. Just
- 9:19Speaker 2: base your higher lower answers off of the guesser on
- 9:23Speaker 2: the podcast for keeping score. Again, check out the description
- 9:26Speaker 2: of this podcast episode so you know what everything is worth.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And just like with every other episode of media or trivia,
- 9:33Speaker 2: there's five hundred dollars on the line. Our winner. We'll
- 9:35Speaker 2: get to choose where the conservation donation goes. What do
- 9:38Speaker 2: you got, Brody?
- 9:39Speaker 5: That's what I was going to ask. I was going
- 9:40Speaker 5: to ask if you're doing something special.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Five hundred dollars, the special part which Steve didn't care for.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I'll explain Steve, why you don't think this is a
- 9:48Speaker 2: good concept for it.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Well, he's doing tho.
- 9:49Speaker 3: He's commemorating the one hundredth episode by doing something different.
- 9:54Speaker 3: And I said, if you were if you hit your
- 9:56Speaker 3: fiftieth wedding anniversary, you wouldn't go on a date with
- 9:59Speaker 3: another lady, And if you went to the one hundredth
- 10:03Speaker 3: anniversary of the big mac Burger celebration.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It wouldn't be like, yeah, and we're serving quarter bounders.
- 10:14Speaker 2: That's yeah, I follow you. My my I could go on, sure,
- 10:18Speaker 2: my rebuttal would be I'm so I'm so confident in
- 10:21Speaker 2: this concept that this will become regular part You're not
- 10:25Speaker 2: like the chek question, Okay, didn't like it.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Wasn't that I think it's too complicated for people.
- 10:29Speaker 2: No, it's very simple, very very simple. I promise everybody.
- 10:34Speaker 1: People like things like.
- 10:37Speaker 6: Playing the drop.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Phil. Here we go, I need to know what I.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Thought we'd have a fresh drop.
- 10:49Speaker 1: It's time to change everything.
- 10:59Speaker 2: We're going to go clock wise around the room, will
- 11:01Speaker 2: start to my left. Here up first is Chester. He
- 11:04Speaker 2: will be the guesser on question one, Chester the guesser.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Here you go, Chester.
- 11:10Speaker 1: That's it.
- 11:11Speaker 2: The question you'll be answering is what percentage of anglers
- 11:15Speaker 2: would rather fly fish than ice fish?
- 11:19Speaker 4: Chester?
- 11:20Speaker 2: That is the number you need to come up with.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Now.
- 11:22Speaker 2: When I did my polling all of the US, no, no, no, no, no.
- 11:26Speaker 2: This is based on my two hundred and fifty people
- 11:28Speaker 2: I pulled. And if a question says for anglers I identified,
- 11:33Speaker 2: I said, only if you identify as an angler. So
- 11:35Speaker 2: if Phil, if Phil took this survey and he didn't say,
- 11:38Speaker 2: you know, he doesn't think he's a fisherman, he wouldn't
- 11:40Speaker 2: answer this question. So Chester, it's what percentage of anglers
- 11:44Speaker 2: would rather fly fish than ice fish?
- 11:49Speaker 1: M I'm writing down higher? Okay, I don't even know
- 11:53Speaker 1: what he said.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Chester, walk us through how you're going to arrive at
- 11:57Speaker 2: your answer.
- 12:01Speaker 11: Uh, one more time. These these folks that you pulled
- 12:04Speaker 11: were in our organization.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Okay, two hundred and fifty people. Fifty of them were
- 12:09Speaker 2: meat eater employees, two hundred of them were meat eater listeners.
- 12:12Speaker 11: Gotcha all right?
- 12:13Speaker 2: What percentage of anglers would rather fly fish than ice fish?
- 12:22Speaker 11: I think since there is, I'm going to say more
- 12:27Speaker 11: people would rather ice fish because they're meat eater listeners.
- 12:38Speaker 1: If it were the.
- 12:39Speaker 11: Office, I would definitely say people might rather fly fish
- 12:42Speaker 11: because it's very attainable to us.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I would throw in that we're in the Northern Tier.
- 12:47Speaker 11: We are in the Northern Tier.
- 12:50Speaker 3: In the middle of ice fishing season, so they could
- 12:54Speaker 3: have just got burned on the ice.
- 12:58Speaker 7: Still be blinded by We've had a terrible ice season.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Chester can make people nostalgia and they might say.
- 13:04Speaker 5: What Steve recently said, which is I quit ice fishing.
- 13:09Speaker 11: I am going to say twenty percent of people would
- 13:13Speaker 11: rather fly fish than ice fish.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Twenty percent. Everyone else needs to predict if the real
- 13:18Speaker 2: answer is higher or lower than twenty percent. Here's the
- 13:22Speaker 2: question one last time, what percentage of anglers would rather
- 13:26Speaker 2: fly fish than ice fish? Is everybody ready? Go ahead
- 13:32Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have Brody saying higher, Mark
- 13:36Speaker 2: saying higher, Randall saying higher. The entire room said higher.
- 13:40Speaker 2: The entire room is right. The correct answer was sixty
- 13:44Speaker 2: one percent, forty one percent off from the right answer.
- 13:49Speaker 2: A twenty eleven US Fish and Wildlife study found that
- 13:52Speaker 2: about two million people ice fish each year compared to
- 13:56Speaker 2: five million people who fly fish. So those numbers aren't
- 13:59Speaker 2: too off of my polling when it came to fly
- 14:01Speaker 2: fishing versus ice fishing preference. What do you got, Randall?
- 14:05Speaker 7: I think if we do this again, we should have
- 14:06Speaker 7: like two paddles instead of writing higher lower. I think
- 14:09Speaker 7: it'd be way more fun.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Because it wouldn't be that you wouldn't need that many paddles,
- 14:15Speaker 3: right right, you ping.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Pong, You have the right in the green.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Side and that time you do this, you know what
- 14:22Speaker 3: you should have done. You really missed an opportunity.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Okay, what do we got?
- 14:25Speaker 3: Well, the once every seven year survey US Fish and
- 14:30Speaker 3: Wildlife Service survey came out. I would have done this
- 14:35Speaker 3: whole show based off of that brand new survey data.
- 14:39Speaker 2: We're just doing the polling data for this from our
- 14:41Speaker 2: would have people. Okay, but you also you also don't
- 14:44Speaker 2: like when there's any potential for someone out activity A
- 14:49Speaker 2: Sears in Kenosha answering these questions.
- 14:51Speaker 11: I don't think it was and Sears and because all
- 14:53Speaker 11: of them would have said I.
- 15:00Speaker 2: We're on to question two.
- 15:01Speaker 7: That might be the line of the year.
- 15:04Speaker 2: This will be for Brody. Brody, what percentage?
- 15:09Speaker 3: Just like I can tell you where he didn't do that.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Brody is now the guesser, Brody, what percentage of outdoorsmen
- 15:20Speaker 2: would rather get attacked by an alligator than a mountain lion?
- 15:27Speaker 2: What percentage of out doorsmen would rather get attacked by
- 15:30Speaker 2: an alligator than a mountain lion?
- 15:32Speaker 8: Now?
- 15:32Speaker 2: The US Fish and Wildlife Service study did not address
- 15:35Speaker 2: They did not address this specific data.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Like you spent how much real Brody?
- 15:43Speaker 2: Talk us through what you're thinking?
- 15:46Speaker 5: There's not not much to it. I just think less
- 15:49Speaker 5: people would rather get attacked by an alligator than more.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Okay, a percentage about doorsman would rather get attacked by
- 15:56Speaker 2: an alligator than a mountain lion.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Well, here's the deal.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Mm hm, back when I got to check.
- 16:02Speaker 1: By a mountainline, you're probably not gonna get that bad killed.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Okay, the gator gater, you're in trouble, okay, and then
- 16:11Speaker 2: all the infection sets in.
- 16:13Speaker 6: I might even make my answer a little low.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I'm talking now, all right, he's going to death roll you. Yeah,
- 16:19Speaker 1: you're getting limb ripped off, and he's gonna bury under
- 16:22Speaker 1: a log, rotten log.
- 16:24Speaker 5: I don't know if people are considering all this.
- 16:26Speaker 2: They were they were simply asked, would you rather be
- 16:28Speaker 2: attacked by an alligator?
- 16:30Speaker 1: Or amount's picking at the question.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Okay, I'm ready, Brody, go ahead and reveal your answer.
- 16:36Speaker 2: We have Brody saying twenty five percent. The other seven
- 16:40Speaker 2: people in the room now will write down if they
- 16:42Speaker 2: think the real answer is higher or lower than twenty
- 16:46Speaker 2: five percent. So what percentage about doorsman would rather get
- 16:50Speaker 2: attacked by an alligator than a mountain.
- 16:53Speaker 5: This means that twenty five percent would prefer an alligator
- 16:57Speaker 5: seventy five.
- 16:59Speaker 1: No, I don't think that's what you wrote.
- 17:00Speaker 2: That's correct, that's what he's saying.
- 17:02Speaker 1: He's saying twenty five percent would prefer a gator.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Yes, that's what the question asked. What percentage of outdoorsman
- 17:09Speaker 2: would rather get attacked by an alligator than a mountain lion?
- 17:13Speaker 2: Brodie saying, I feel like he's kind of got it
- 17:15Speaker 2: right on the money there. You gotta pick either way,
- 17:17Speaker 2: and that's why it's trade.
- 17:19Speaker 1: It's very for you a flat line.
- 17:22Speaker 2: It's very important for you to do a good job
- 17:24Speaker 2: as the guesser because you can really throw off the
- 17:26Speaker 2: rest of the room. If you say you're right on,
- 17:28Speaker 2: you can split the vote.
- 17:30Speaker 9: Job.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I know, I'm just I'm explaining why. Here's where Okay,
- 17:36Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear this.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Well, you're not thinking about how they're thinking.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Okay, is everybody read a classic beginner's mistake. Go ahead
- 17:47Speaker 2: and reveal your answers again. They're deciding it's higher lower
- 17:50Speaker 2: than twenty five percent. We have Chest you're saying higher,
- 17:53Speaker 2: Mark saying higher, Randall's saying higher, Seth saying lower. Krinn
- 17:58Speaker 2: and Yanni and Steve also saying higher, the correct answer
- 18:03Speaker 2: is thirty one percent. He was only six percentage points away.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Everyone else in the room correctly said higher, except for Seth.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Now for being six off, Brody, you got nine points.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Well done. According to the Florida Museum, there's a four
- 18:19Speaker 2: point three fatality rate when it comes to gator attacks,
- 18:22Speaker 2: and according to a twenty eleven study from the USGS,
- 18:26Speaker 2: there's a fourteen point five percent fatality rate when it
- 18:29Speaker 2: comes to cougar attacks. Despite this data, to hit me
- 18:32Speaker 2: with that again, four point three percent fatality rate for gators,
- 18:37Speaker 2: fourteen point five percent fatality rate when it comes to cougars. Now,
- 18:40Speaker 2: despite this data, my polling showed that people would strongly
- 18:43Speaker 2: prefer to be attacked by a mountain lion.
- 18:46Speaker 1: What do you think of that, Steve? Yeah, because I
- 18:49Speaker 1: would get him by the upper and lower jaw, just.
- 18:54Speaker 5: Which one the gator?
- 18:56Speaker 1: No lying, Okay, we're up. You're not gonna do that
- 19:02Speaker 1: to your gator.
- 19:02Speaker 6: I feel like people survived gator attacks because the gator
- 19:05Speaker 6: just like bite your arm, does the twisting thing and
- 19:07Speaker 6: swims away.
- 19:09Speaker 7: When you're gators might just be more careless and haphazard
- 19:13Speaker 7: in there.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I think that they they're kind of like they start
- 19:15Speaker 3: attacking it, and I've seen footage it looks like they
- 19:18Speaker 3: forgot that they're attacking you.
- 19:20Speaker 1: But again, also let's look off in another direction. That's
- 19:23Speaker 1: the thing.
- 19:23Speaker 7: I would rather be killed by a mountain being killed
- 19:27Speaker 7: by poor opening.
- 19:29Speaker 2: They don't, they can't open with a lot of Yeah,
- 19:32Speaker 2: it'd be hard to probably be killed by like a
- 19:34Speaker 2: five foot gator something like that. Those aren't gonna be lethal.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Me and Crinn are on to a podcast guest too.
- 19:41Speaker 3: He's written two books investigating black bear attacks, and he's
- 19:46Speaker 3: into sumo wrestling.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Okay, what are you gonna tell you about bear?
- 19:52Speaker 3: The minute I saw sumo, I was I was in.
- 19:55Speaker 3: But the bear thing is the main thing we'll talk about.
- 19:57Speaker 3: I'm going to touch on sumos.
- 19:59Speaker 2: So thirty one percent of out doorsman said they would
- 20:01Speaker 2: rather be attacked by a gator than a mountain line
- 20:04Speaker 2: running questions three, wrestler or a bear run to question three.
- 20:11Speaker 2: This is for Mark Kenyon. Mark, what percentage of out
- 20:14Speaker 2: doorsmen have fallen out of a boat?
- 20:18Speaker 1: Includes me?
- 20:20Speaker 8: Okay, so it's the meat eater audience and our crew.
- 20:23Speaker 1: There's a lot of people that do a lot.
- 20:25Speaker 8: Of stuff in the water. Yeah, so I'm gonna say
- 20:26Speaker 8: it's a pretty high person put down higher.
- 20:29Speaker 2: What percentage of out doorsmen have fallen out of a boat?
- 20:33Speaker 4: Okay, Mmm, this one's gonna be hard.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Mark shirt really brings two shirt ideas together, brings together
- 20:46Speaker 3: to very it's a shacket. Well, sometimes you'd be like,
- 20:50Speaker 3: let's gonna wear a flannel. How do you half of
- 20:52Speaker 3: the other the other half days I'm like, where my hoodie?
- 20:54Speaker 4: How do you know that that that that little white
- 20:57Speaker 4: V in there isn't connected to that shirt?
- 20:59Speaker 6: To shirts that'd be incredible.
- 21:03Speaker 2: It's like the Bozeman uniform that can comebine.
- 21:06Speaker 1: He's like, flannel hoodie? How about my flannel.
- 21:09Speaker 8: HOODI Yeah, man, there's a thing called decision fatigue where
- 21:11Speaker 8: you just have like too many decisions to make throughout
- 21:13Speaker 8: the day and then you get bad. So I'm just
- 21:14Speaker 8: gonna stick with the same thing. YEA, get sixty five
- 21:17Speaker 8: of those sixty percent.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Mark says sixty percent. The other seven players will now
- 21:23Speaker 2: decide if the real answer is higher or lower than
- 21:27Speaker 2: sixty percent.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Is the teacher built in? It is not that built in?
- 21:31Speaker 1: That's a good idea.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah, what percentage of outdoorsman.
- 21:37Speaker 1: You just tuck it.
- 21:37Speaker 7: It's a separate yes, Dicky.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Chester, do you have an answer? Is this idea just
- 21:44Speaker 2: waiting on? Chester? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 21:48Speaker 2: have Chester saying lower than sixty percent, Brody saying higher,
- 21:53Speaker 2: Randall saying higher, Seth saying lower, Karn saying higher, Yannis
- 21:58Speaker 2: saying higher, Steve saying hi. Here the correct answer was
- 22:03Speaker 2: forty six percent.
- 22:05Speaker 1: It was fourteen per se off.
- 22:07Speaker 2: I think we had Seth and Chester correctly predicted that
- 22:10Speaker 2: it would be lower.
- 22:11Speaker 9: There.
- 22:12Speaker 5: You ain't living if you're not falling out of a boat.
- 22:14Speaker 8: Yeah, surprised by that.
- 22:15Speaker 4: At drinking in this room is falling out of a boat?
- 22:19Speaker 2: Everyone but Courrint okay, oh everybody? Everybody?
- 22:22Speaker 3: Well, are you counting when your boat, like a canoe flips?
- 22:25Speaker 3: That's like there was a boat.
- 22:26Speaker 8: Need to stay upright, No, I think any kind of
- 22:29Speaker 8: thing are you falling of?
- 22:30Speaker 1: At fall off of a boat.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Yeah, here's a video I took.
- 22:33Speaker 1: You might have been confused when you asked me that question.
- 22:35Speaker 2: The question was have you fallen out of a boat.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I think it's pretty straightforward.
- 22:39Speaker 1: No picture a third picturing falling out of a boat
- 22:43Speaker 1: which remains on pre right.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Steve is telling the two hundred and fifty of you
- 22:47Speaker 2: who took this pole that you are wrong.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Not paddle boards count.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Here's a video I took in twenty fourteen when I
- 22:53Speaker 2: worked for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. We were
- 22:55Speaker 2: setting gillnets for paddlefish in South Dakota's White River when
- 22:59Speaker 2: the boat hit shore and through the other biologist into
- 23:01Speaker 2: the water. Play the clip, Phil oh Man, I was
- 23:17Speaker 2: the one who did not fall out of the boat. There.
- 23:20Speaker 6: Nice.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you had your camera ready. You didn't say anything.
- 23:26Speaker 11: You're just waiting.
- 23:27Speaker 6: You're not even a chuckle.
- 23:30Speaker 2: You just saw the chuckle there. It was kind of
- 23:33Speaker 2: serious for a second. We saved you. That was question
- 23:40Speaker 2: did not did not survey run? Question four? This is
- 23:44Speaker 2: for Randall. Randall, what percentage of hunters said they'd rather
- 23:49Speaker 2: kill a boone and crocket elk than a boon and
- 23:51Speaker 2: crocket white tail?
- 23:54Speaker 1: This game's cart to catch?
- 23:55Speaker 2: This was also not in the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Get what percentage of hunters said they'd rather kill a
- 24:08Speaker 2: boone and crocket elk than a boone and crocket whitetail? Walkes?
- 24:13Speaker 2: You're thinking here Randall.
- 24:16Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know that sort of the average
- 24:21Speaker 7: person who doesn't live in the West envisions of boone
- 24:25Speaker 7: and Crockett elk versus just a big bull. White tails
- 24:29Speaker 7: are very popular and there's a lot of cachet. They're
- 24:34Speaker 7: so measured.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Yeah, talking about about moose, they just got the hunt
- 24:38Speaker 1: moose twenty years. You've tell them what your moose scored.
- 24:39Speaker 1: They wouldn't tell you. Talking about yeah, yeah, the trick
- 24:43Speaker 1: is an elk?
- 24:43Speaker 8: Are so aspirational?
- 24:45Speaker 2: Mm hmm, Now this isn't this is would you what
- 24:47Speaker 2: would you rather kill?
- 24:49Speaker 3: So?
- 24:49Speaker 2: Right, percentage of hunters said they'd rather kill a Boone
- 24:52Speaker 2: and Crockett elk than a boone and crocket whitetail. And
- 24:55Speaker 2: again the question was for hunters. If Phil took this
- 24:57Speaker 2: survey and he doesn't identify as a hunter, then he
- 24:59Speaker 2: didn't answer this question.
- 25:01Speaker 4: When we already know that more would rather kill the elk.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Well, I mean, you don't know if Randall knows that.
- 25:07Speaker 7: Well, the question says that, well, they could be.
- 25:10Speaker 2: The percentages are not say that because the last question,
- 25:14Speaker 2: remember we had thirty one games. Say, oh geez, Randall,
- 25:22Speaker 2: what percentage of hunters said they'd rather kill a Boone
- 25:27Speaker 2: and crocodile than a Boone and Crockett white tail, say
- 25:29Speaker 2: forty forty seven percent, Spencer forty seven percent would rather
- 25:34Speaker 2: kill a Boone and crocodilk than a Boone and Crackett
- 25:37Speaker 2: Boone and Crockett white tail or other seven players are
- 25:40Speaker 2: now writing down if they think the real answer is
- 25:42Speaker 2: higher or lower than forty seven percent. Yoanni thinking real
- 25:49Speaker 2: hard I do.
- 25:50Speaker 6: They just want to kill an out, but they want
- 25:54Speaker 6: to kill a big.
- 25:55Speaker 1: There's certain things like with prong hornon. Very few people
- 25:59Speaker 1: you know, run around and when you said, someone's.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Like, they're gonna tell you, They're gonna tell you what
- 26:02Speaker 3: They're gonna be like, I got a sick that like,
- 26:03Speaker 3: I got a seventeen inches, but holy call this big.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And that's proa as far as they'll ever take it. Yep,
- 26:08Speaker 1: that's pros far as they'll ever measure it.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Everybody ready, people are gonna be like, I want to
- 26:11Speaker 5: get a six point or something, But.
- 26:13Speaker 9: What if, like you getting in Boone and Crockett whitetail
- 26:17Speaker 9: means that you're better than to yourself, better than all
- 26:21Speaker 9: the people who hunted whitetail. And that's what because more
- 26:26Speaker 9: people hunt white tail.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Oh, I got you, so that especially.
- 26:30Speaker 7: I mean you could also think of it. Are they
- 26:32Speaker 7: being offered a trip to kill a Boon and Crockett?
- 26:36Speaker 2: Would you put that in there the question would you
- 26:38Speaker 2: rather kill a Boone Crockt, Elk or a Boon and Crockett?
- 26:42Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Chest you're saying higher,
- 26:45Speaker 2: Brody saying lower, Mark saying lower, Seth saying lower, Karn
- 26:48Speaker 2: saying higher, Yanna saying lower, Steve saying lower. The correct
- 26:53Speaker 2: answer is seventy two percent.
- 26:58Speaker 1: You know what they do, just want to go elk.
- 27:00Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I was That's what I was thinking.
- 27:04Speaker 7: I feel like everyone opportunity to.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Everyone in this room would probably say elk.
- 27:08Speaker 6: I assume no no white tail all day.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Okay, so two of you, here's the deal.
- 27:13Speaker 1: We're saying like.
- 27:16Speaker 3: They're saying that would then mean that I got to
- 27:18Speaker 3: go on a really good elk.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Come sure.
- 27:23Speaker 6: Might not matter.
- 27:25Speaker 2: It's all part of the thinking of it. Would you
- 27:27Speaker 2: rather kill?
- 27:28Speaker 4: You're making that you're making that mistake earlier.
- 27:33Speaker 7: That I've been told that that was my best chance
- 27:37Speaker 7: at scoring a lot.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Of There are eighteen thousand white tails in the Boone
- 27:41Speaker 2: and Crockett record book, compared to three thousand elk that
- 27:44Speaker 2: three thousand figures counting American elk, Tu Lee elk and
- 27:48Speaker 2: Roosevelt elk.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Hit me that again. Eighteen and three.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Eighteen and three. Phil, we're halfway through this game. Give
- 27:53Speaker 2: us a scoreboard update. These numbers are gonna sound a
- 27:56Speaker 2: little funny.
- 27:58Speaker 6: Yeah, let's see. I mean it's pretty close. Let's see.
- 28:00Speaker 10: Steve, Jannis, Seth, Randall, and Mark all have ten points.
- 28:07Speaker 10: And then coming up next we've got Brody with fourteen
- 28:10Speaker 10: and tight in first place are Chester and Corinne with
- 28:13Speaker 10: fifteen points.
- 28:15Speaker 6: Wow.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I love this whole new type of winner.
- 28:19Speaker 2: We had to question five.
- 28:24Speaker 6: Karen hasn't even gone yet.
- 28:26Speaker 3: I know, but like Krien News, you get your teeth
- 28:29Speaker 3: kicked in. But she knows what's in people's hearts.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Fifty year old white guys beware.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Question five. This is for Seth Seth. What percentage of
- 28:52Speaker 2: anglers have hooked someone else while fishing?
- 28:58Speaker 6: Oh?
- 28:59Speaker 2: Man, I have hooked someone else while fishing. Again, this
- 29:07Speaker 2: question was only for anglers.
- 29:10Speaker 1: I was gonna tell a quick story.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I was fishing steelhead one time at the sixth Street
- 29:14Speaker 3: damn Grand Rapids, Michigan, and uh, you kind of wade
- 29:19Speaker 3: out on these rocks and sort of like whoever can
- 29:22Speaker 3: whoever gets there earliest and wades out far this is
- 29:25Speaker 3: the winner because there's this big trough in the middle
- 29:27Speaker 3: and all the fish pass up this trough. So I'm
- 29:32Speaker 3: out there, and then if someone else is out there,
- 29:33Speaker 3: you just get as close as you can possibly feel
- 29:36Speaker 3: comfortable getting so that you can fish that right. But
- 29:40Speaker 3: I was out on the perch and there was a
- 29:42Speaker 3: guy doing just what I would have done to him,
- 29:44Speaker 3: which is get as close as you can possibly get.
- 29:46Speaker 3: At one point he says, hey, what's your name, buddy?
- 29:49Speaker 3: And I said Steve. He goes, well, Steve, I think
- 29:51Speaker 3: I snagged your waiters.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Have anyone have you been hooked? Yeah?
- 29:59Speaker 6: Yeah, couple.
- 30:00Speaker 10: This is tough because if you're talking about anglers spend
- 30:03Speaker 10: like a lifetime of fishing, huh, Like yeah, probably everyone's
- 30:08Speaker 10: done it.
- 30:08Speaker 6: But if you're talking to people have just done it,
- 30:10Speaker 6: like fished a couple of times.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Fifty med Eater employees, people fish like twice a year.
- 30:16Speaker 10: Kylie Archer snagged me in the cheek. But I've been
- 30:18Speaker 10: working here for a one month, it's.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Great my answer, Seth, what is your answer a.
- 30:27Speaker 6: Man kind of change? No, I'll stick with it.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Okay, what you got?
- 30:30Speaker 6: I have forty one percent?
- 30:31Speaker 2: Seth says forty one percent or other seven players will
- 30:34Speaker 2: now decide if the real answer is higher or lower
- 30:38Speaker 2: than forty one percent. Is everybody ready? Everyone but Mark
- 30:44Speaker 2: was quick to answer. Seems like this room has a
- 30:47Speaker 2: good track record of hooking other folks. I mean, are
- 30:51Speaker 2: you ready?
- 30:51Speaker 7: There's probably people that have hooked others clothing, but not more.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Than same thing as one right top of the head
- 30:59Speaker 1: one time. Go ahead and reveal answer. If you said, identify.
- 31:07Speaker 3: The top of that person's head, yeah, the exact top
- 31:10Speaker 3: that's roight got her, not off to the left and
- 31:13Speaker 3: off to the right.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Go ahead, reveal your answers. We have Chester saying higher
- 31:18Speaker 2: than forty one percent, Brody saying higher, Mark saying higher,
- 31:23Speaker 2: Randall saying higher, Krinn saying higher, Yanni saying lower, Steve
- 31:27Speaker 2: saying lower.
- 31:29Speaker 1: That would have been in nineteen ninety nine in uh
- 31:34Speaker 1: Rocky Creek, not far from here.
- 31:37Speaker 2: The correct answer is forty nine percent. You did not
- 31:43Speaker 2: get it higher was the correct answer. Seth was eight
- 31:47Speaker 2: off of the correct answer, which means he gets very
- 31:49Speaker 2: seven points. Well done, very good seth.
- 31:53Speaker 7: I would have been really close had I done the
- 31:55Speaker 7: white tail bull elk answer for this question.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Pat Dirkin Internet That Helps. Pat dirk In interviewed a
- 32:03Speaker 2: Wisconsin doctor who removed hundreds of fish hooks from anglers
- 32:06Speaker 2: in his career. He told Dirk that musky anglers are
- 32:10Speaker 2: the most humble victims, but that most fishermen are very embarrassed.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Here's a quote from that doctor. Experienced guys are humiliated.
- 32:18Speaker 2: They tell us over and over how they've been fishing
- 32:21Speaker 2: for years and how they've never had this happen before,
- 32:24Speaker 2: and it seldom their fault. They usually blame their buddy,
- 32:27Speaker 2: the wind or a rogue wave. To read Pat's full story,
- 32:30Speaker 2: go to the mediator dot com and check out his
- 32:32Speaker 2: article called human Catch and Release Tails and tips for
- 32:35Speaker 2: unhooking anglers That scar there, Yes, that's from a hook
- 32:40Speaker 2: from yourself or someone else.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Got myself.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Taught you a lesson.
- 32:45Speaker 11: You know, I got my thumb right there once too.
- 32:47Speaker 1: One musky hook they hit. There's two in her and
- 32:50Speaker 1: they made that big slit to get them back out.
- 32:53Speaker 3: And my friend had in my friend's house when I
- 32:55Speaker 3: was a little kidd and his ma looked at it,
- 32:57Speaker 3: and she said, you better go show your ma that
- 33:00Speaker 3: want to deal with it.
- 33:02Speaker 2: We're on to question six. This is for Carinn Karn
- 33:05Speaker 2: would be the guesser what percentage of out doorsman said
- 33:09Speaker 2: they'd rather win a fifty thousand dollars boat than a
- 33:12Speaker 2: fifty thousand dollars pickup.
- 33:16Speaker 7: Talking about a great boat or a used truck.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Well, it's like this though, man, you already got a
- 33:20Speaker 1: truck exactly.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys are helping out Korean And it's like
- 33:24Speaker 3: if you go to your spouse and say, hey, I'm
- 33:27Speaker 3: gonna buy a really expensive boat boat, you get that.
- 33:31Speaker 1: That's not that's like you get a lot of people
- 33:34Speaker 1: can get shot down. But how many but you already
- 33:36Speaker 1: got a truck.
- 33:36Speaker 9: But how many people want maybe a better truck instead
- 33:39Speaker 9: of a boat because they don't want to boat.
- 33:41Speaker 1: But wait, trucks are now the pricing.
- 33:44Speaker 3: You're gonna wind up with a boat that would otherwise
- 33:46Speaker 3: give you a real pain in the ass to get
- 33:48Speaker 3: your hand time.
- 33:52Speaker 7: She could probably put the game away here with the
- 33:54Speaker 7: real solid Guess.
- 33:56Speaker 2: What percentage of out doorsman said they'd rather win a
- 33:59Speaker 2: fifty thou thousand dollars boat than a fifty thousand dollars pickup.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Maybe maybe they're trying to trick you, Karin, since they
- 34:06Speaker 2: know you're in the lead.
- 34:07Speaker 7: How many are afraid of the water.
- 34:11Speaker 8: Yeah, they could have our audience, and.
- 34:13Speaker 9: Like maybe a truck is just more useful, so they'd
- 34:16Speaker 9: rather truck.
- 34:17Speaker 1: How practical is I'm not doing well today, but I
- 34:19Speaker 1: can tell you.
- 34:19Speaker 2: What she's in the lead you need to put.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I should be listening to.
- 34:23Speaker 11: Her, Corrin with this question, like if you don't identify
- 34:27Speaker 11: as an angler, this is for outdoorsmen.
- 34:29Speaker 2: For outdoorsmen. So, Krinn, what percentage of outdoorsman said they'd
- 34:34Speaker 2: rather win a fifty thousand dollars boat than a fifty
- 34:37Speaker 2: thousand dollars pickup?
- 34:39Speaker 1: If you've changed it to five hundred thousand dollars, you.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Have your answer, Karinn, go ahead and reveal your answer.
- 34:48Speaker 2: We have Karinn saying thirty three percent. So everyone else
- 34:52Speaker 2: now identify if the real answer is higher or lower
- 34:56Speaker 2: than thirty three percent. It's everybody ready.
- 35:02Speaker 5: I mean all pickups cost fifty grand or more of
- 35:04Speaker 5: these days, right.
- 35:05Speaker 2: What percentage aboutdoorsman said they'd rather win a fifty thousand
- 35:09Speaker 2: dollars vote a new pickup than a fifty thousand dollars you.
- 35:12Speaker 6: Just like even at Tacoma is close to that.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Now go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chester
- 35:19Speaker 2: saying higher than twenty or.
- 35:23Speaker 4: Thirty three.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Everybody says higher. Everybody's wrong. The correct answer was twenty
- 35:30Speaker 2: seven percent. Really, Karen was only six off, which means
- 35:36Speaker 2: she is awarded nine points as he knows what's in
- 35:40Speaker 2: people's hearts.
- 35:41Speaker 3: From now on, I gotta find out what people think
- 35:44Speaker 3: about something to.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Ask Karen there you go inside, what's everybody wanted for
- 35:47Speaker 1: dinner night? Krin, She'd be like, passa, damn.
- 35:51Speaker 5: It, I was gonna make taco.
- 35:53Speaker 1: What will people think of this tattooed k.
- 35:56Speaker 2: A twenty twenty one article from Action water Sports said
- 36:00Speaker 2: that new boats have a thirty percent depreciation in value
- 36:03Speaker 2: at the five year mark, and a twenty twenty one
- 36:05Speaker 2: article from Motor Trend said that new pickups are the
- 36:08Speaker 2: exact same, with a thirty percent depreciation of value at
- 36:12Speaker 2: the five year mark, So either one of those choices
- 36:14Speaker 2: would be worth thirty five thousand dollars by the year
- 36:17Speaker 2: twenty twenty nine. Run to question seven, This is for Yanni. Yanni,
- 36:23Speaker 2: what percentage of hunters have inherited a gun? What percentage
- 36:30Speaker 2: of hunters have inherited a gun? What do you think
- 36:34Speaker 2: in here?
- 36:34Speaker 1: Yanni?
- 36:34Speaker 2: How many guns have you inherited in your days?
- 36:39Speaker 4: That would include inheriting one from a friend or does
- 36:43Speaker 4: it have to be like passed down?
- 36:44Speaker 1: You don't mean like a hand me down like probably
- 36:46Speaker 1: a question.
- 36:47Speaker 2: The question for the two for the two hundred and
- 36:49Speaker 2: fifty pold was have you inherited a gun.
- 36:51Speaker 1: That implies or death? To me? In my boat?
- 36:54Speaker 6: I don't think so.
- 36:54Speaker 7: I think it would be if your if your father
- 36:57Speaker 7: passed a gun on from your late grandfather, so there
- 37:00Speaker 7: could be a live to live transferral.
- 37:05Speaker 5: Your own definition of inheriting.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Well, then you'd be like, did you inherit it from
- 37:09Speaker 3: your grandfather or get it from your father?
- 37:11Speaker 2: You know No, I think that'd be inheriting from your grandfather,
- 37:16Speaker 2: a family inheritance. But I feel like that's how I
- 37:18Speaker 2: would explain it.
- 37:19Speaker 3: If my grandpa gave me something, he dies, Okay, my
- 37:22Speaker 3: grandma dies, my grandma says he always wanted you to
- 37:25Speaker 3: have this gold coin, then I give it to Randall.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Would he say that he inherited.
- 37:31Speaker 2: It if that's not the being used, and he would
- 37:34Speaker 2: say he got it it was grandfather to father.
- 37:37Speaker 7: To I'm simply pointing out the distinction between a grandfather
- 37:40Speaker 7: handing on a gun and then the middle man sort
- 37:42Speaker 7: of giving it up before he leaves the earth, versus
- 37:45Speaker 7: your dad going out and buying a gun that doesn't
- 37:47Speaker 7: shoot for shit and then giving it to you. Two
- 37:49Speaker 7: years later.
- 37:50Speaker 3: My boy has possession of his great grandfather's nineteen oh
- 37:57Speaker 3: three Springfield.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I think did he inherit at that?
- 38:01Speaker 1: I don't know, because the his uncle.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Is that right, his uncle handed it to him and
- 38:14Speaker 3: he was not close to death. I would say that
- 38:21Speaker 3: very healthy underlying gun says you'd appreciate this and hands
- 38:26Speaker 3: it to him.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Yehn inherited.
- 38:30Speaker 6: Yes.
- 38:30Speaker 2: So the question was what percentage of hunters have inherited gun?
- 38:34Speaker 2: Yanni says twenty percent for his answer. So there our
- 38:38Speaker 2: other seven players need to say. If the real answer
- 38:40Speaker 2: is higher or lower than twenty percent, what percentage of
- 38:46Speaker 2: hunters have inherited a gun? It's everybody ready.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Suck this go ahead.
- 38:56Speaker 2: It'd be kind of embarrassing if I be kind of embarrassing.
- 39:01Speaker 2: If you were to happen to declare yourself being great
- 39:03Speaker 2: at this game too. Right beforehand, we have chest. You're
- 39:06Speaker 2: saying higher than twenty percent, Brody saying higher, Mark saying higher,
- 39:09Speaker 2: Randall saying lower, Seth saying higher, Karn saying higher, Steve
- 39:13Speaker 2: saying lower. The correct answer is seventy two percent. My god,
- 39:20Speaker 2: anyone who said hi is correct? Seventy He inherits hit
- 39:25Speaker 2: a gun? Yeah, how many people in here.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Of inheriting minah?
- 39:29Speaker 2: Okay?
- 39:29Speaker 6: Several y?
- 39:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 39:31Speaker 11: The four.
- 39:33Speaker 6: I heard mine man was in the will.
- 39:37Speaker 1: No, like they died and we took it.
- 39:43Speaker 12: Has either a twenty seventeen study there to stop us.
- 39:49Speaker 12: A twenty seventeen study from the Pew Research Center found
- 39:52Speaker 12: that thirty percent of American adults own a gun. Of
- 39:55Speaker 12: the seventy percent who don't own a gun, slightly more
- 39:58Speaker 12: than half said they could see them selves owning a
- 40:00Speaker 12: gun in the future. Phil, we have one question left.
- 40:03Speaker 12: Give us a leaderboard update.
- 40:06Speaker 6: Yeah, do some quick, Matthew, give me a second.
- 40:08Speaker 3: That's a great line of questioning. Could you see yourself
- 40:11Speaker 3: in the future blank?
- 40:13Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 40:15Speaker 6: Yeah, all right here.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Have you ever had a triple long? John Dona?
- 40:21Speaker 3: Have you ever flown up noself having one in the
- 40:24Speaker 3: future tied up in last place, our Stephen Ranella and
- 40:29Speaker 3: yanis true.
- 40:29Speaker 10: Tell us next. We've got Randall with fifteen Seth.
- 40:38Speaker 1: It's like inverse. It's inverse trivia expertise.
- 40:43Speaker 10: Seth has twenty two, Brody has twenty four, Chet has
- 40:49Speaker 10: twenty five and did I did I do Mark yet?
- 40:53Speaker 10: Mark's got twenty Sorry, you've got twenty Mark And in
- 40:56Speaker 10: first place by I don't know pretty wide margin is
- 40:58Speaker 10: Careen with thirty four points.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Well, yeah, karenn we got question e and then the
- 41:03Speaker 2: bonus round. Question eight is for Steve. Steve, what percentage
- 41:08Speaker 2: of out doorsmen think Bigfoot is real? Steve? If you
- 41:16Speaker 2: had to go around this room and look at folks,
- 41:18Speaker 2: what would you say? How many people in here do
- 41:20Speaker 2: you think believe in Bigfoot?
- 41:21Speaker 1: Zero?
- 41:22Speaker 6: Zero?
- 41:22Speaker 2: Zero? Okay, we can find out the answer after. For now, though,
- 41:26Speaker 2: you need to figure out what these two hundred and
- 41:27Speaker 2: fifty people said. What percentage of out doorsmen think Bigfoot
- 41:32Speaker 2: is real?
- 41:33Speaker 5: Steve? But you know where a bigfoot nest is?
- 41:37Speaker 6: Smelled it?
- 41:38Speaker 1: My body smelled it.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Steve came up with his answer. He says nine percent,
- 41:44Speaker 2: nine percent of outdoors man think Bigfoot is real. He's
- 41:49Speaker 2: very eager to come up with that answer.
- 41:51Speaker 7: It it's one of those questions where it's like, how
- 41:55Speaker 7: many think Bigfoot's real? Or are they asked answering the
- 41:57Speaker 7: question how many think it's funny to respond.
- 41:59Speaker 3: To survey because people ironically like big point.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I got eight down.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Steve says eight.
- 42:07Speaker 7: If you put a gun to their head.
- 42:08Speaker 2: You other seven. Do you think the real answer is higher?
- 42:11Speaker 2: Lower than eight percent?
- 42:12Speaker 9: Really?
- 42:12Speaker 5: How much credit you want to give these outdoors?
- 42:16Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? No?
- 42:18Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 42:18Speaker 1: Could you picture in the future.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Higher or lower than eight percent? Taking her go ahead.
- 42:28Speaker 7: There's no way I can earn twenty four points on
- 42:30Speaker 7: this question.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chesters saying
- 42:34Speaker 2: lower than eight percent, Brody saying higher, Mark saying lower,
- 42:38Speaker 2: Randall saying lower, Seth saying lower, Karinn saying higher, Yanni
- 42:42Speaker 2: saying lower. The correct answer is nineteen percent.
- 42:46Speaker 6: I think we have.
- 42:47Speaker 5: Rody and Kin.
- 42:49Speaker 6: Steve.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Steve just want changing out of the running for having
- 42:55Speaker 2: noise And did you were eleven off instead of ten?
- 42:58Speaker 1: That's the cut I would have just got that.
- 43:00Speaker 2: You would have gotten five points there.
- 43:02Speaker 6: But well, people, yeah, I.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Don't know who you're pulling.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I just told you many a times who I
- 43:09Speaker 2: was pulling your listeners? And when are colleagues?
- 43:12Speaker 6: How many percent of meat eat employees?
- 43:14Speaker 3: Can I see the tink a little pull out who?
- 43:18Speaker 6: Specifically?
- 43:19Speaker 2: A twenty twenty study from Civic Science found that eleven
- 43:23Speaker 2: percent of Americans believe in Bigfoot, which means that outdoorsmen
- 43:27Speaker 2: are more likely than the average American to believe in Sasquatch.
- 43:31Speaker 2: That Civic Science poll also found a correlation between household
- 43:35Speaker 2: income and believing in Bigfoot. They learned that the less
- 43:39Speaker 2: money you make, the more likely you are to think
- 43:41Speaker 2: Bigfoot is real. Their data showed that forty three percent
- 43:45Speaker 2: of adults who make less than fifty thousand dollars per
- 43:48Speaker 2: year think Bigfoot is real, and fifteen percent of adults
- 43:52Speaker 2: who make more than one hundred thousand dollars a year
- 43:54Speaker 2: think Bigfoot is real. It's the less money you make,
- 43:57Speaker 2: the more likely you are to believe in Bigfoot. Who
- 44:00Speaker 2: in here believes in Bigfoot?
- 44:01Speaker 1: Well, if I was broke, i'd change the way. I
- 44:03Speaker 1: think that's the probe Guessing myself, I'll.
- 44:08Speaker 3: Tell you what I found out what it is.
- 44:10Speaker 1: It's not my job.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Phil, give us one last scoreboard update before we do
- 44:15Speaker 2: the bonus round.
- 44:16Speaker 10: Yeah, Joannis and Steve still have ten points, and then
- 44:19Speaker 10: we've got randall of fifteen, Mark with twenty, Chet with
- 44:24Speaker 10: twenty five, Brody with twenty nine. Oh, sorry, Set's got
- 44:27Speaker 10: twenty seven, and then Kurinn thirty nine points.
- 44:30Speaker 6: Now, oh, Karen.
- 44:32Speaker 2: The bonus round is worth of a lot of points though,
- 44:34Speaker 2: so this could all change.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Oh.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Here's how the bonus question works. I asked two hundred
- 44:39Speaker 2: and fifty outdoorsmen for them to rank these animals from
- 44:42Speaker 2: best tasting to worst tasting. You need to place them
- 44:45Speaker 2: in the correct order. For every one of these you
- 44:48Speaker 2: get right, you'll receive five points. That means this final
- 44:51Speaker 2: round is worth a max of twenty five points.
- 44:54Speaker 6: So here you go.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Rank the's in order of what outdoorsman said is the
- 44:58Speaker 2: best tasting animal to the worst tasting animal. Feral hog,
- 45:04Speaker 2: white tail squirrel, black bear, wild turkey, Sorry, best to worry,
- 45:11Speaker 2: best to worst. This is what our two hundred and
- 45:13Speaker 2: fifty people said. So your best tasting animal will be
- 45:16Speaker 2: number one. The fifth best tasting animal will be number five.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Five choices are feral hog, white tail squirrel, black bear,
- 45:27Speaker 2: and wild turkey. For each one of these you correctly
- 45:30Speaker 2: place in the right spot, you'll be awarded five points.
- 45:33Speaker 10: Oh, seth, I screwed up. You don't have twenty seven,
- 45:35Speaker 10: you have twenty two. Clarify, Thanks Phil, Yeah, you well
- 45:40Speaker 10: appreciate that, Spencer.
- 45:41Speaker 7: I wrote my top two really big, and so the
- 45:44Speaker 7: rest are abbreviated, and they kind of go in a
- 45:46Speaker 7: trianguler o.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Hay to erase and wiste any ink.
- 45:50Speaker 1: No I wrote. I wrote the names that I just
- 45:54Speaker 1: have the numbers next and names. I didn't rearrange them.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, we'll figure it out.
- 45:58Speaker 7: Unless I can steal Karna points in this round, I
- 46:02Speaker 7: don't think there's well you.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Can get twenty five. So anybody who is within twenty
- 46:05Speaker 2: five of Karen or twenty four, because Karen could potentially
- 46:09Speaker 2: get all five wrong and one of you could get
- 46:11Speaker 2: all five right, I guess I do. Can happen?
- 46:13Speaker 7: I have fifteen, right Phil?
- 46:15Speaker 6: Yes you do.
- 46:16Speaker 2: And this is going to take a little bit for
- 46:17Speaker 2: Phil to keep up with scorekeeping, So well, hey, take
- 46:21Speaker 2: our time.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you're.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Kind of kind This is almost anybody's game, But to
- 46:28Speaker 2: have to.
- 46:28Speaker 7: Get one in the right spot.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Someone else, you know, Randall, there's other players here who
- 46:33Speaker 2: are closer to Karin.
- 46:35Speaker 7: Well, they're all playing from their own perspective and I'm
- 46:37Speaker 7: playing from mine.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? You have these ranked one through five,
- 46:42Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chess saying
- 46:46Speaker 2: one white tail, two wild turkey, three squirrel, four faral,
- 46:50Speaker 2: hog five, black bear. Brody saying the exact same thing.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Mark saying one white tail, two turkey, three hog, four,
- 47:02Speaker 2: squirrel five black bear. Randall saying white tail one turkey,
- 47:08Speaker 2: two hog, three squirrel four, black bear five. Seth saying
- 47:14Speaker 2: white tail one turkey, two squirrel, three, black bear, four
- 47:20Speaker 2: hog five.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I mean exact same answer.
- 47:23Speaker 2: Karenn saying turkey one white tail, two squirrel, three, black bear,
- 47:29Speaker 2: four hog five. Yanni saying white tail, one turkey, two hog,
- 47:37Speaker 2: three squirrel, four, black bear five.
- 47:40Speaker 1: No wait, this is not my personal feelings.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Steve saying white tail one wild turkey, two squirrel, three,
- 47:49Speaker 2: black bear, four hog five.
- 47:52Speaker 1: What kind is?
- 47:56Speaker 2: We have a few of you who got it right
- 47:59Speaker 2: on the nose. The correct ranking is one white tail,
- 48:03Speaker 2: two wild turkey, three squirrel, four, black bear, five feral.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Hall twenty five points. Right here, Steve.
- 48:13Speaker 2: And Seth, we're gonna do a clean sweep there. They've
- 48:16Speaker 2: got twenty five points. Corinn, who is in the lead,
- 48:19Speaker 2: has three of them. Correct, she's got fifteen. Brody and
- 48:24Speaker 2: Chester what do you guys? Both got three each? They
- 48:26Speaker 2: got fifteen? Marcus, how'd you do? Marcus? Got two of them?
- 48:30Speaker 1: Right?
- 48:30Speaker 2: Randall? How'd you do?
- 48:32Speaker 1: Uh?
- 48:34Speaker 6: Two of them?
- 48:34Speaker 1: Right? Phil? Like how he's gonna get out of the head.
- 48:39Speaker 7: Well, I just know I didn't get it perfect, so
- 48:41Speaker 7: I didn't count.
- 48:42Speaker 6: Up to Phil.
- 48:43Speaker 2: When you're ready, I can go ahead and tell us
- 48:46Speaker 2: the score from worst to best.
- 48:48Speaker 10: All right, I'll take your time, Phil, I'm doing this
- 48:50Speaker 10: the old fashion ate with pen and paper.
- 48:51Speaker 6: You see, get it right? Phil?
- 48:53Speaker 10: In last place? Jannis putell Us He with twenty points.
- 48:57Speaker 2: John, he does not know his fellow outdoor has been
- 49:00Speaker 2: very well.
- 49:01Speaker 10: Next up, we've got Randall Williams with twenty five points.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Either does Randall?
- 49:08Speaker 10: Coming up next? Mark Kenyan has thirty points.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Nice go, I really jumped up in the.
- 49:15Speaker 10: Right Stephen Ranella has thirty five points.
- 49:20Speaker 7: Not far enough.
- 49:22Speaker 10: Chester Floyd has forty points. Brody Henderson has forty four points.
- 49:31Speaker 10: And who do you think wan between Seth and Krinn'd be?
- 49:37Speaker 7: This is a mean trick.
- 49:40Speaker 10: Karenn wins with fifty four points. Seth had forty seven.
- 49:45Speaker 4: Krin Kurenn.
- 49:47Speaker 2: That's why she produces the number one hunting and fishing
- 49:50Speaker 2: podcast in the world. She knows hunters and anglers that well.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Job Krinn.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Quinn.
- 49:58Speaker 2: This is like your first trivia victory.
- 50:00Speaker 9: It's my first real victory because the last time.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I won it was they gave you the answers.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Yeah, how that still is like and your head sort
- 50:10Speaker 3: of a win, there's still losing.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Her head is like kind of how about this?
- 50:20Speaker 2: Is this a real win? Stevers this kind of a leg?
- 50:23Speaker 6: Yeah, that surprises me.
- 50:24Speaker 2: She knows how all through not either just all through
- 50:27Speaker 2: down the well done.
- 50:29Speaker 4: You get to choose, Well, what I want to know?
- 50:31Speaker 4: How you know, Krim, how she feels, how she thinks
- 50:35Speaker 4: that she did so well?
- 50:38Speaker 9: You mean like my my rationale or my reasoning.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Yeah, why do you know more about hunters and anglers
- 50:43Speaker 2: than Steven Yanni?
- 50:45Speaker 7: Uh?
- 50:47Speaker 9: I mean I wouldn't say that, but I don't know.
- 50:49Speaker 9: It was just like an intuition I wasn't for for
- 50:52Speaker 9: most of the answers. I was pretty certain hit.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Me with the truck one, so she was only six
- 50:59Speaker 2: points off the truck.
- 51:01Speaker 1: What are people thinking? So?
- 51:02Speaker 9: I think that a lot more people, even if they
- 51:05Speaker 9: have a nice truck already, potentially wouldn't mind a second
- 51:09Speaker 9: one for free for fifty grand as opposed to a boat,
- 51:13Speaker 9: Like what's you know, utility? They'd use it more than
- 51:17Speaker 9: using a boat.
- 51:18Speaker 1: What's the thing?
- 51:19Speaker 2: Um?
- 51:24Speaker 1: Now, I'm sorry to think that my logic was convolution.
- 51:27Speaker 3: They'll get something they wouldn't normally have.
- 51:31Speaker 1: They would they would get something that would be otherwise
- 51:33Speaker 1: out of reach.
- 51:34Speaker 8: Yes, the thing I get the truck and then sell
- 51:36Speaker 8: my old one makes it mounting.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:38Speaker 10: One of my favorite things about Karin is how she psychologizes,
- 51:41Speaker 10: like everybody she beats. If I complain about something, she'd
- 51:43Speaker 10: be like, well, it's obvious that person has just like
- 51:45Speaker 10: a deep seated hatred for their father and their older
- 51:49Speaker 10: brother had to step in.
- 51:51Speaker 6: You can really see it in their eyes.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Karin, you get to choose with a five hundred dollars
- 51:57Speaker 2: donation from meat Eater goes, what's it going to be?
- 52:00Speaker 9: Let's make it the rough Grouse Society once more, because
- 52:04Speaker 9: that's where I donated last time, I didn't actually win
- 52:07Speaker 9: nice and Clean, and we don't we don't donate to
- 52:11Speaker 9: them as regularly.
- 52:13Speaker 2: That's a good read. What do we think of the
- 52:15Speaker 2: meat pole concept? Would you play this again? You're okay
- 52:18Speaker 2: with that?
- 52:19Speaker 6: I like it.
- 52:19Speaker 2: I like that it gives people a chance who aren't
- 52:21Speaker 2: Randall Brodie Steve.
- 52:23Speaker 1: I have to know a little more about the polling, Yeah, comfortable?
- 52:28Speaker 2: What more would help you?
- 52:29Speaker 4: We would well, I would like to know if out
