- 0:00Speaker 1: Chris Daly has joined us here, so kindly, so here,
- 0:03Speaker 1: let me turn that up so people can hear you,
- 0:07Speaker 1: and turn that up so you can hear us. First
- 0:09Speaker 1: of all, nice defensive effort again today, and boy, thirty
- 0:12Speaker 1: assists on thirty five field goals. That's pretty darn are
- 0:17Speaker 1: nice there today.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, our defense was really good right from the start.
- 0:21Speaker 2: And they're a team that can make you look silly
- 0:24Speaker 2: the way they play and with their back cuts, and
- 0:26Speaker 2: if you're not communicating and you're not aware, it can
- 0:30Speaker 2: be a long night. So I was really happy with
- 0:33Speaker 2: how we started out, and then offensively, you know, we're
- 0:36Speaker 2: an unselfish team. You know, you look at and I
- 0:39Speaker 2: just said this to her, Caitlyn Chen, talk about someone
- 0:43Speaker 2: that can impact the game without scoring. I mean she
- 0:45Speaker 2: played really good defense on their best player and has
- 0:49Speaker 2: seven assists and no points, but had an impact on
- 0:53Speaker 2: the game. And so those are the things that we
- 0:56Speaker 2: look at that means something that make a difference. And
- 0:59Speaker 2: it's not all about scorn.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Let's elaborate that with kk Arnold. I know she scored today,
- 1:04Speaker 3: but her intensity and what she brings coming off the
- 1:07Speaker 3: bench defensively as well.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Well, you know KK is different from our other guards.
- 1:12Speaker 2: She has the ability to put the ball on the
- 1:14Speaker 2: floor and really get to the room, and we have
- 1:15Speaker 2: to do a better job put her in those positions.
- 1:18Speaker 2: But she has to do a good job of taking
- 1:20Speaker 2: advantage of that, and our guards in general, I think
- 1:22Speaker 2: have to. We as a team want to get to
- 1:25Speaker 2: the free throw line more and to do that you
- 1:26Speaker 2: have to be able to put the ball on the
- 1:27Speaker 2: floor and go buy people. And KK did that today
- 1:31Speaker 2: and shared responsibility on the defensive end as well to
- 1:34Speaker 2: be disruptive, and I think we've challenged her to be
- 1:37Speaker 2: more disruptive on the defensive end, which helps create what
- 1:40Speaker 2: she can do on the offensive end. And she's really
- 1:42Speaker 2: taken that to heart. I think maybe even from the
- 1:45Speaker 2: USC game on, she's really, I think been different and
- 1:50Speaker 2: it has been really a difference maker coming off the
- 1:53Speaker 2: bench for us.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Chris. Sarah was a beneficiary of a lot of assists
- 1:57Speaker 1: early on. She was efficient, pay was having a Vintage
- 2:01Speaker 1: Page type game until the injury. With efficient shooting the ball,
- 2:05Speaker 1: she had nine asists today. It was just a dose
- 2:08Speaker 1: two injury.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I would just calling her. She got taken out of
- 2:12Speaker 2: the game after a jump ball. I don't know. I
- 2:14Speaker 2: wouldn't call it an injury.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So you're saying, she's doing okay, she's doing okay, okay.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Awesome to hear it some of that too. You first
- 2:22Speaker 3: have a little little fear of that when you're feeling.
- 2:24Speaker 2: That, yeah, quick, I think that happens, but you know,
- 2:27Speaker 2: it's a basketball play that happens, and you got to
- 2:30Speaker 2: deal with it.
- 2:30Speaker 1: So but they those two Sarah Page, they were efficient.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Page was having a Page type game today before.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah, she just mentioned that, Well, I said something that
- 2:38Speaker 2: she didn't get a double double. She oh, but I
- 2:40Speaker 2: would have, which I'm sure, you know, so sure she
- 2:45Speaker 2: would have, or at least in her mind she would have.
- 2:48Speaker 2: But yeah, you know, it's it's just when we're playing
- 2:52Speaker 2: like that. I think our defense right now is better
- 2:55Speaker 2: than probably we thought it would be at this point
- 2:58Speaker 2: or even earlier in December, and it's taken our offense longer,
- 3:02Speaker 2: which is surprising because we spent a lot of time
- 3:04Speaker 2: on it. So it's nice to see us making some
- 3:07Speaker 2: progress on the offensive end where we're getting different contributions
- 3:11Speaker 2: and running our offense and executing and taking advantage of
- 3:16Speaker 2: things that we think are our strengths.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Was there anything with it to be with the style
- 3:20Speaker 3: of the defense that you wanted to play with Villanovt
- 3:22Speaker 3: it seemed more back to that guard orient oriented lineup
- 3:26Speaker 3: just because of the style of play that you wanted.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yeah, you know sometimes and we talked to our players
- 3:31Speaker 2: about this too. Sometimes it's a matchup situation, you know,
- 3:36Speaker 2: they went we had jhann in to start the game,
- 3:38Speaker 2: and we made a couple of buckets inside they went small,
- 3:41Speaker 2: So then we had to make some adjustments with that,
- 3:43Speaker 2: so we went a little, we went small. So that's
- 3:46Speaker 2: going to happen in games. Sometimes our best lineups look
- 3:49Speaker 2: when we when we have our smaller lineup, but we
- 3:52Speaker 2: we need to get contributions from everybody. Our post players
- 3:55Speaker 2: need to to be able to control the backboard and
- 3:59Speaker 2: become better to and because we're going to be playing
- 4:01Speaker 2: teams that have a lot more size than than Villanova does,
- 4:04Speaker 2: so we really need to continue to work at that
- 4:06Speaker 2: and improve. But being able to play a big lineup
- 4:09Speaker 2: and a small lineup is definitely into our advantage.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Chris, what are your thoughts on Easy since she's come
- 4:13Speaker 1: back on her play overall, you.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Know, I think I think she's maybe still been a
- 4:23Speaker 2: little hesitant. You know, Asy is the kind of she's
- 4:25Speaker 2: a perfectionist and she likes everything to be perfect. And
- 4:29Speaker 2: I'm not sure she's feeling like everything is perfect right now.
- 4:32Speaker 2: It's there's no injury, no anything, It's it's not that.
- 4:35Speaker 2: But I think the more time she gets out there
- 4:37Speaker 2: and plays and she's practicing and there's no limitations or
- 4:40Speaker 2: anything like that, I think, the better off we're going
- 4:42Speaker 2: to be. And I think the better off she's going
- 4:44Speaker 2: to be, and the more confident she's going to feel. So,
- 4:46Speaker 2: you know, confidence is a funny thing, just like momentum.
- 4:51Speaker 2: You know, it comes and it can go, and and
- 4:52Speaker 2: what creates it. You know, it's your work ethic a
- 4:55Speaker 2: lot with in terms of your confidence, and she has
- 4:57Speaker 2: a great work ethic, and you know, I think she
- 5:02Speaker 2: will gain regain the confidence she had that you saw
- 5:05Speaker 2: at the beginning of the season before before the Louisville game.
- 5:07Speaker 2: So that's what the goal is for her.
- 5:09Speaker 1: You know, in the Louisville game, the one play that
- 5:11Speaker 1: really impressed me for Asy was that post of moves.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I think first half she had somebody one on one
- 5:16Speaker 1: and she posted them down a couple of moves here
- 5:18Speaker 1: and then reversed it, and I thought, that's the Asy
- 5:20Speaker 1: that we're so used to seeing. When she's she may
- 5:24Speaker 1: be our best.
- 5:24Speaker 2: One on one player, like in terms of how knowing
- 5:27Speaker 2: how to score and whether it's a post up, a
- 5:30Speaker 2: face up at three, like, she could be our best
- 5:33Speaker 2: one on one and really, of Patriots this she'll probably
- 5:36Speaker 2: be annoyed, but I think it's true. I think Asy's
- 5:41Speaker 2: a better, a different, they're different, but I think As
- 5:44Speaker 2: might be our best one on one offensive player.
- 5:46Speaker 1: All right, thanks for coming out. We'll do it again wednesday.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 5:48Speaker 1: All right,
