- 0:00Speaker 1: Trick or treat. It's one more thing. I'm strong Andy,
- 0:05Speaker 1: one more thing before we talk a little Halloween. On
- 0:11Speaker 1: this day before Halloween, came across this tweet, which I
- 0:15Speaker 1: thought was funny. This guy said, I live in constant
- 0:21Speaker 1: fear that Trump will deport my Latina mother in law,
- 0:24Speaker 1: who lives at eighteen thirty seven Third Street, Los Angeles,
- 0:27Speaker 1: nine zero zero two three, Blue house. She gets off
- 0:29Speaker 1: work at six. That's pretty funny. That is really good.
- 0:37Speaker 1: So you see he doesn't like his mother in law.
- 0:39Speaker 1: He would like her to be departed. You know. Okay,
- 0:41Speaker 1: you got that his initial fear was actually a mask
- 0:48Speaker 1: he was wearing. Yeah, she was trying to He was
- 0:51Speaker 1: trying to hype in fact, that he doesn't even prefer
- 0:53Speaker 1: his mother in law be around. Good.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I'll know what I would do without you.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Guys, do not understand a thing. Oh yeah, we got
- 1:04Speaker 1: something Halloween there, Michael, before I saw Halloween.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah, my wife and I no, I like the regular
- 1:10Speaker 3: trick or treating where you take kids to the houses,
- 1:12Speaker 3: but we participated for the first time in what's called
- 1:15Speaker 3: a trick or trunk sure, and that's very popular now,
- 1:18Speaker 3: where a bunch of cars you open up your trunk,
- 1:20Speaker 3: you fill it with candy, and.
- 1:21Speaker 1: All built over the completely manufacturer fake scare that has
- 1:27Speaker 1: been going on for decades that it's too dangerous to
- 1:29Speaker 1: go door to door. But anyway, so we were kind.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Of curious, so we went ahead and it was at
- 1:33Speaker 3: our church, and so you know, it's supposed to be
- 1:35Speaker 3: a nice family event. What we found though, was it
- 1:39Speaker 3: was amazing to us. You had the little kids that
- 1:41Speaker 3: were really cute and it's just fun. But then there
- 1:43Speaker 3: were some families where the adults are here to grab candy.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It was just it's amazing.
- 1:49Speaker 3: The number of people that they bring. A little kid
- 1:52Speaker 3: is like they're helping. The adults are grabbing candy for themselves,
- 1:55Speaker 3: and then they walk away and the little kids just
- 1:57Speaker 3: with them, but really isn't getting the candy at all.
- 2:00Speaker 1: It is quite amazing. I've told the story of being
- 2:02Speaker 1: at an ester a gun as a DJ many many times.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I was the MC of the Ceast eight Hunt and
- 2:07Speaker 1: watching adults knockdown little children to get candy. Candy is
- 2:11Speaker 1: practically free, by.
- 2:12Speaker 4: The way, Yeah yeah, since it's a church event, i'd
- 2:16Speaker 4: be forced to say, buy your own effing candy.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Brother, I with you.
- 2:22Speaker 2: With a friend the other day about if you have
- 2:24Speaker 2: trick or treaters, right, and you have the little kids
- 2:26Speaker 2: that come up, say trick or treat, get the candy.
- 2:27Speaker 2: But then what if you have the couple that brings
- 2:30Speaker 2: their newborn that's dressed up.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you just want candy? Dude, aren't you a grown man?
- 2:35Speaker 1: Do you have a job? Right? Can give you any candy?
- 2:38Speaker 1: You brought your baby along as a prop pos weak ass? Yeah,
- 2:48Speaker 1: the truth is and a person must just accept this
- 2:51Speaker 1: in craft of society around this, although progressives don't, is
- 2:56Speaker 1: that a fair percentage of people will do the wrong
- 2:59Speaker 1: thing on a consistent basis. You cannot trust people to
- 3:04Speaker 1: try hard to take care of themselves to do the
- 3:06Speaker 1: right thing. They just won't. There are a thousand examples
- 3:10Speaker 1: of it, and they're highly annoying, but you just have
- 3:13Speaker 1: to accept it. When did that We talked about this
- 3:15Speaker 1: a lot of the time. When did the trunk or
- 3:17Speaker 1: treat thing take off? It's fine, and I've done it
- 3:21Speaker 1: before and it's it's good, But I just remember how
- 3:23Speaker 1: it was born. I remember it was born of it's
- 3:26Speaker 1: too dangerous to go up to strangers doors in modern America,
- 3:30Speaker 1: so we too now we meet it and you know,
- 3:32Speaker 1: have all our cars.
- 3:33Speaker 4: They might get a hit or crack or a razor blade.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Or so it said, you have them go up to
- 3:39Speaker 2: strangers cars to get candy.
- 3:41Speaker 1: This seems like a worse concept. Trunk We're all you
- 3:43Speaker 1: got to do is put a bag over the head,
- 3:44Speaker 1: put them in the trunk, off with a done deal. No,
- 3:48Speaker 1: it's generally like a group. It's a church or whatever.
- 3:51Speaker 4: And the the idea is we've had people right in
- 3:53Speaker 4: say no, it's nice because we all get together with
- 3:55Speaker 4: our friends and the kids play and we know where
- 3:57Speaker 4: they are and we all hang out and talk with
- 3:59Speaker 4: our friends, which is fine.
- 4:00Speaker 1: But it was born of paranoia, just ridiculous paranoia in.
- 4:04Speaker 4: The early days of the Internet and people waking up
- 4:08Speaker 4: in bath tubs with the ice and the note saying
- 4:10Speaker 4: your kidneys have been harvested. It was born right around
- 4:13Speaker 4: the same time.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I kept thinking about what Jack said. Though you have
- 4:17Speaker 3: to charge a certain amount to get the real.
- 4:20Speaker 1: As all it takes. I've seen it in action. A
- 4:22Speaker 1: one dollar charge will make a festival so much cleaner
- 4:26Speaker 1: and nicer than a free festival. It's just true. It
- 4:30Speaker 1: doesn't take much to eliminate that crowd. Speaking of prices,
- 4:35Speaker 1: the consumer price index for candy and chewing gum is
- 4:38Speaker 1: up twenty two percent since Biden took office nearly four
- 4:41Speaker 1: years ago.
- 4:42Speaker 4: That's more than twice the cumulative inflation during Trump's presidency.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Twenty two percent more for your candy and gum. That's
- 4:49Speaker 4: Joe Biden's America.
- 4:50Speaker 1: It is more expensive, but having purchased candy at the
- 4:53Speaker 1: story the other day, it is still practically free to
- 4:56Speaker 1: buy way more candy than you could ever eat in
- 4:59Speaker 1: your lif lifetime. It's practically free plus twenty two percent.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Rich Man, it's amazing what a giant bag of crap costs,
- 5:08Speaker 1: not that much. I feel like the Of course this
- 5:14Speaker 1: is probably true. Obviously this is true. Shrink Flation has
- 5:17Speaker 1: hit the mini candies because they're smaller now than they
- 5:20Speaker 1: even weord before. They're almost to the point of absurdity.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Mike is yes, micro candies.
- 5:27Speaker 2: The internet wet nuts yesterday or the day before because
- 5:30Speaker 2: a woman got those miniature quote unquote fun sized bags
- 5:34Speaker 2: of Minem's and she's so fun She opened one and
- 5:37Speaker 2: there was one Eminem in the Oh boy, that's not fun.
- 5:42Speaker 1: It is no funny. Yeah, it was about to say,
- 5:44Speaker 1: I was looking at these kitkats where I think the
- 5:46Speaker 1: energy to unwrap the tinfoil would burn more calories than
- 5:51Speaker 1: the candy bar. So maybe it's a win wall if
- 5:54Speaker 1: you unwrap your M and MS and you have an
- 5:57Speaker 1: M in there heartfe it's it's hard to justify it,
- 6:03Speaker 1: like the packaging or going through the trouble of buying
- 6:06Speaker 1: it and transporting it home from the store. What a
- 6:08Speaker 1: I what are we doing? That's funny. I hadn't even
- 6:11Speaker 1: noticed it till now. How tiny the new bite size,
- 6:15Speaker 1: fun size whatever they whatever lie they call it, How
- 6:18Speaker 1: tiny they are. I'll have to I'll have to do that.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Take some pictures at home, like next to a coin
- 6:24Speaker 1: or something, to give you some perspective.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Look, there ought to be there ought to be a
- 6:28Speaker 4: bust on Madison Avenue for the guy who cooked up
- 6:31Speaker 4: the name fund size. Right, Hey, what do we what
- 6:35Speaker 4: do we call these little candy bars? We're gonna we're
- 6:37Speaker 4: gonna charge actually per ounce fifty percent more. But anybody
- 6:41Speaker 4: got an idea? Yeah, a small sized diet? No, no, no,
- 6:45Speaker 4: that's all negative. Give me something positive.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Fun size. Do you expect trigger treats where you live? Katie, Yes,
- 6:57Speaker 1: lots of them. What kind of candy you got?
- 6:59Speaker 2: I actually have not gotten it yet.
- 7:01Speaker 1: What will you get?
- 7:02Speaker 2: Oh, I'm thinking of sticking with chocolate this year because
- 7:06Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't like them, Like in what
- 7:08Speaker 2: form do you ladle it out of a pot?
- 7:10Speaker 1: Or Yes, I'm gonna have a fondue fountain, Jack, Yes,
- 7:14Speaker 1: that'd be funny much have the fountain and the fruit
- 7:17Speaker 1: and the kids can stick their fruit in the fountain
- 7:18Speaker 1: and have a couple of bites for the.
- 7:20Speaker 2: One skewer per child. I thinking like the Snickers and
- 7:24Speaker 2: the Reeses and all the stuff that I like, so
- 7:26Speaker 2: that I can eat it after and we don't give.
- 7:28Speaker 3: It all the way give the full sized candy bar.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a right house. Henry was big on we're
- 7:32Speaker 1: gonna do full size. We're gonna go legend, that's what
- 7:34Speaker 1: he said. We're gonna go legend. Yeah, we get it.
- 7:36Speaker 2: You're rich, very good, Jack.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna have like six trigger treats. I'm sure. And
- 7:41Speaker 1: I don't. I want the candy gone. I don't want
- 7:43Speaker 1: it around the house. I want it gone. Last kid
- 7:45Speaker 1: of the night. You get your basket completely full of
- 7:48Speaker 1: whatever I got left no one.
- 7:51Speaker 4: But there's no blanket way. I give out the full
- 7:53Speaker 4: sized candy bars, and I'll tell you why, because those
- 7:55Speaker 4: kids haven't earned it. It's the redistribution of candy. It
- 7:59Speaker 4: ran forces socialist impulses. The free market is how you
- 8:04Speaker 4: get candy.
- 8:05Speaker 1: What if I have them entertain me for a few minutes?
- 8:07Speaker 1: Can you dance or something or some you know what
- 8:10Speaker 1: you can? I have a pull up bar at his
- 8:11Speaker 1: front door.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Right, I am the Ron Swanson of holidays, Halloween houses.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. The joy I used to get from
- 8:21Speaker 1: getting candy as a little kid, I barely remember it,
- 8:24Speaker 1: but I remember it was joyful. I remember it was very,
- 8:26Speaker 1: very exciting because I never was around candy that quantity before.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I think my kids are around so much candy. Candy
- 8:33Speaker 1: I'm surprising leaves a mark with them.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Really, I remember, like my last my last year of
- 8:37Speaker 2: trigger treating was one pillowcases got cool. Everybody had their
- 8:40Speaker 2: pillowcase to fill up.
- 8:41Speaker 1: There you go.
- 8:42Speaker 4: I liked the idea of making them dance, dance, dance
- 8:47Speaker 4: for me. I watched for a second. Nope, close the door.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I got it. You look at the bar.
- 8:53Speaker 3: If it's fifty calories they got to burn fifty calories
- 8:56Speaker 3: before they can eat it.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I've a net zero calorie policy. Put them on a treadmill,
- 9:03Speaker 1: little ghost. As soon as the thing on the treadmill
- 9:07Speaker 1: says you've hit fifty calories behind you in the candy bar,
- 9:10Speaker 1: there you go on the next Happy Halloween kid. The
- 9:13Speaker 1: dance not good enough. You can do, you can do.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Come on, you can do better than that. You'd call
- 9:19Speaker 1: that dancing nope slam.
- 9:23Speaker 3: All right, kid, make sure you stretch before you go
- 9:25Speaker 3: to Joe Getty's house. Well, I guess that's it.
