  But praise be to God, He has equipped us to endure the rain and even the storms that come our way.

  He never promised us a life without storms, but He did say He would be the umbrella.

  storm, he is already there.

  Hello, and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.

  And what a pleasure it is to have you come and join us as we study an also familiar
• 1:46
  passage, which is Matthew chapter 14, beginning in verse 22 and concluding in verse 32.
• 1:53
  And it's a story about Peter. and we learn so much from Peter I believe that
• 1:59
  Peter is one that I can assimilate with because he's quick to run in and he's
• 2:04
  quick to move and to act and sometimes Peter needs to just stand still.
• 2:11
  And really realize who God is and allow God to move in and through him.
• 2:15
  But as we begin to look at this passage today, I want you to concentrate on
• 2:21
  the fact that in this storm that Peter and the disciples are facing, Jesus is already there.
• 2:30
  They're not having to summon him to come. They're not having to wonder where he is.
• 2:36
  They're not having to wonder how to get him to get there.
• 2:39
  But in the midst of the storm when they
• 2:43
  look out they see jesus because
• 2:47
  jesus is already there shall we
• 2:50
  pray our kind and most gracious to heavenly father lord
• 2:53
  we just ask that you would be with us as we spend these next few
• 2:56
  moments together studying your word we pray that
• 2:58
  you would open up our hearts and that you would open up our minds and
• 3:02
  that we'd be fully focused on you and what you have to say to
• 3:05
  us in this wonderful passage of scripture lord we
• 3:08
  pray that you would help us to take the words and put them in
• 3:10
  our heart and apply them to our life to heavenly father
• 3:13
  that as we've spent this time with you and as
• 3:16
  we've read what you've spoken to us in your word that we
• 3:20
  leave this way completely transformed into who
• 3:23
  you would have us to be putting our footsteps in the place that you would trusting
• 3:28
  you to be best and trusting your way to be the best way and being confident
• 3:32
  that when you bid us come that we can follow lord i thank you that you're already
• 3:37
  in the storm. I thank you that you're already here.
• 3:40
  I thank you, dear Heavenly Father, that you know what's going to happen for
• 3:44
  the next few moments, and you know what's going to happen tomorrow,
• 3:47
  and you know, dear Heavenly Father, what is happening each time that it happens
• 3:51
  way before any of us have any knowledge.
• 3:55
  And I thank you, Lord, that I know you and I know that you hold tomorrow and
• 3:59
  that you'll supply all of my needs and that you will strengthen me and you will uphold me.
• 4:04
  Yea, you will let me sit in the right hand of your righteousness.
• 4:08
  And Lord, I just ask that you would be with us as we go through this passage,
• 4:13
  and that you would have your will in your way and that you would speak to each
• 4:16
  and every heart that we would know that truly we have been in the presence of
• 4:21
  the Lord as we read your words.
• 4:23
  And all these things we ask in your most precious and holy name.
• 4:26
  And all of God's people said, Amen.
• 4:29
  It's a fascinating thing to me to sit in front of the scriptures and read.
• 4:33
  And I praise his holy name. That's a fascination that has never gone away with me.
• 4:39
  And it fascinates me because the Bible says that in the beginning was the word.
• 4:43
  And the word was made man of flesh and it dwelled among us.
• 4:46
  And so I wasn't there when Jesus walked on the earth.
• 4:51
  And I wasn't there when they nailed him on the cross and I wasn't there when
• 4:58
  he performed the miracles and he turned the water and the wine and he made the
• 5:02
  lame to walk and he caused the blind to see.
• 5:05
  I wasn't there when he raised Lazarus from the dead.
• 5:09
  But praise be to God I was there when he was on the cross because when he was
• 5:15
  on the cross I was on his mind.
• 5:17
  And praise be to God I know what Lazarus felt.
• 5:21
  Like when he was raised from the dead because i
• 5:24
  was raised from the trespasses of my
• 5:27
  sin and the bondage of death that goes
• 5:30
  with it and i have life evermore and life
• 5:32
  everlasting because one day he spoke my
• 5:36
  name and i answered here am i and i accepted that call in my heart that would
• 5:43
  repent of for my sins that a savior who shed his blood on the cross of calvary
• 5:49
  would wash them away white as snow. I wasn't there.
• 5:55
  When Paul and Silas were in prison, and at the midnight hour they began to sing
• 6:01
  the praises of God, and the chains were loosened.
• 6:06
  But praise be to God.
• 6:09
  I can read about it from Genesis to Revelation.
• 6:12
  And since the word was made flesh, I can dwell among Jesus in his presence as I read his holy word.
• 6:20
  And as I come to him with a heart that is humble and true, purified by his blood,
• 6:28
  indwelt by the Spirit of God in the form of the Holy Spirit, I too can walk with him.
• 6:36
  No, I wasn't there in Pilate's judgment hall.
• 6:41
  I wasn't part of the crowd that yelled, crucify him. But you know what?
• 6:49
  I was part of the stripes.
• 6:52
  That he endured for my sins i
• 6:56
  don't understand that whole
• 6:59
  concept of transcending time
• 7:02
  but time is a man-made constraint and
• 7:07
  god knows no boundary by time he
• 7:11
  doesn't operate by sun up and sun down because
• 7:14
  he never sleeps and he never slumbers he doesn't
• 7:18
  age and lose his functions
• 7:22
  and his mobility and his cognitive capabilities
• 7:27
  for sin has never entered in
• 7:31
  him but all the sin of all of mankind yours and mine was laid upon him and because
• 7:42
  he loved you and because he loved me way before I ever even existed.
• 7:51
  He bore the shame and reproach on the cross of Calvary that you and I might go free.
• 8:00
  You see, I came into this world a sinner in need of a savior.
• 8:06
  Romans 3.23 tells me that.
• 8:09
  But he was already there.
• 8:11
  He had already made the arrangements that I would not have to spend eternity in a place called hell.
• 8:20
  In the book of Luke, we get a picture of the rich man and Lazarus.
• 8:26
  And Lazarus had been a poor beggar at the gate. But he had placed his trust in the right place.
• 8:34
  And there was the rich man.
• 8:37
  And he had not. He had trusted in himself.
• 8:41
  And we get a picture of what hell's all about. Because that rich man,
• 8:45
  when he was in hell, had all of his faculties and he had all of his senses.
• 8:49
  And I don't know about you, but I am so glad that he was already there.
• 8:56
  When I came to the cross and knelt, a poor wretched sinner in need of a savior.
• 9:04
  You see, we love him. Because he first loved us.
• 9:09
  He's already there. And maybe today you feel like you're all alone.
• 9:16
  And that wherever you are in life, that no one is there for you.
• 9:22
  And it may be a true fact that you don't have an earthly hand one that you can grasp.
• 9:29
  And it may be a true fact that you're in the wee hours of the night.
• 9:34
  And you don't have a single person on this earth that you can call.
• 9:38
  But he's already there. He said, call unto me and I will answer thee. What a promise.
• 9:47
  He said, ask and you shall receive.
• 9:51
  Seek and you shall find not and it shall be opened unto you.
• 9:56
  He's already there. You see, because he says, I am the door.

  You don't even have to go out and search which
• 10:03
  door to knock on it's not like
• 10:06
  the old game show let's make a deal and is it behind door number one or is it
• 10:10
  behind door number two or is it behind door number three it's i am the door
• 10:14
  and he said i am the way the truth and the life but no man cometh unto me not
• 10:19
  cometh unto the father except by me he said i am the door and this is the way you enter and he said god.

  He's already there now take
• 10:30
  you back to daniel and the three hebrew children they
• 10:34
  wouldn't bow and they wouldn't bend they believed in their god to the extent
• 10:41
  that when the storm and the fires raged they said if it be my god's will that
• 10:49
  i go in that he will deliver me they didn't ask
• 10:53
  for the fires to be quenched.
• 10:57
  They didn't ask for the storms to be removed. They didn't even ask for a little
• 11:02
  air conditioning so the heat would be reduced.
• 11:05
  And when the king said, I'm going to heat it up seven more times,
• 11:10
  they stood by their confidence in their God, and they said, my God will deliver me.
• 11:17
  And they threw him into the fire. There was Shadrach, and there was Meshach, and there was Abednego.
• 11:25
  Three Hebrew children.
• 11:27
  But when King Nebuchadnezzar opened his eyes and he looked, he said,
• 11:32
  did I not put three men in the fire?
• 11:34
  And he said, what is this? I see four men, and it's likened to the Son of God.
• 11:40
  The fourth man in the fire was the Son of God because he's already there.
• 11:45
  The Hebrew children didn't have to sum him in
• 11:48
  the hebrew children didn't have to wonder where
• 11:51
  he was they didn't even have to wait because
• 11:55
  he's already there mary and martha
• 11:58
  their brother had died and they're
• 12:02
  friends with jesus he comes to their house we know the story of how they fixed
• 12:08
  food for him and one was busy the other one was worshiping i think sometimes
• 12:13
  in our lives we just get a little too busy and quit the worshiping that's another
• 12:17
  day and another time lazarus dies.
• 12:22
  Talk about a problem they knew
• 12:26
  that if jesus had been there that lazarus
• 12:29
  wouldn't have died they had confidence in
• 12:32
  him and it's a storm when somebody
• 12:35
  dies it's a storm like you
• 12:38
  don't know until you've been there and watching
• 12:41
  someone die knowing even that
• 12:44
  you're going to heaven is an extreme storm
• 12:47
  for even the most of faith but
• 12:51
  praise be to god he's already there his
• 12:55
  timing is perfect because yes lazarus did
• 12:58
  die but on that fourth day when jesus
• 13:01
  came right on time right in his time he
• 13:04
  raised him from the dead and a blessing like they'd never
• 13:07
  seen before took place and because they waited
• 13:10
  there was a greater blessing and they stood in the
• 13:13
  storm and they had confidence that had God been
• 13:16
  there he would not have died and their confidence in
• 13:19
  Jesus never waned and they knew that he was right and
• 13:22
  they knew that he was perfect and they were hurting and they
• 13:25
  had problems and they had things that wasn't going the
• 13:28
  way they wanted it but they held to the unseen hand and
• 13:31
  they held to the unchanging God and when he came on the scene everything was
• 13:37
  perfect and the blessing that they could not imagine and the reward that had
• 13:41
  never crossed their mind had taken place in front of their very eyes because he was already there.
• 13:49
  The storm that you're facing, the problems that you may be having.
• 13:53
  It may not make any sense, but don't give up. Don't be in despair.
• 13:58
  Don't dare let the devil have the victory over the blessing that you know is
• 14:02
  yours because he's already there.
• 14:05
  He promised that he would never leave us nor forsake us.
• 14:08
  In Hebrews chapter 13 and verse 5, he said that I know the thoughts that I think toward you.
• 14:15
  Sayeth the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end in Jeremiah 29, 11.

  Listen to the King James version of what he says in Jeremiah 29, 11.

  He says, I've got an expected end for you. You see, he's the alpha and he's the omega.
• 14:32
  He's the beginning and the end. And you may be in the middle of the storm,
• 14:35
  but I've got great news for you. He's in the end.
• 14:39
  He's in the middle and he's in the beginning because he's
• 14:42
  already there and he has the blessing for
• 14:45
  you and you've got to hold on my child because morning comes and joy comes in
• 14:51
  the morning because where there is light there is God and he said I'll endure
• 14:56
  the night I'll hold you in my arms I'll hug you I'll love you I'll provide for
• 15:02
  you what you need but you've got to trust me.
• 15:05
  You've got to believe me you've got to hold
• 15:08
  on to me because I am here I am
• 15:11
  in the midst I was before there ever was I
• 15:14
  am but I will always be and you have to
• 15:17
  hold on to me because I created thee
• 15:20
  and I formed thee and I'm thinking about
• 15:23
  you and I'm in the middle and I'm in
• 15:26
  the beginning and I'm in the end and the
• 15:29
  storm means nothing to me and time has
• 15:32
  no power on me because I am victorious through
• 15:36
  Jesus Christ and I want you to know Jesus said
• 15:39
  I'll give you what you need I'll give you
• 15:42
  what you have to have I'll supply your
• 15:45
  every resource and I'll be your grace in
• 15:48
  the storm and I'll be your umbrella because all
• 15:52
  things are under my feet all things I
• 15:55
  have created and this thing that seems like a storm to you when I say peace
• 16:00
  be still it has to cease because nothing can prevail against me and i created
• 16:09
  you for my purpose and i love you,
• 16:13
  he says in second chronicles verse chapter 30 and verse 9 if you'll just turn
• 16:19
  again into the lord you shall find compassion before them that lead you captive.
• 16:27
  Know that the history behind this verse deals with the Israelites
• 16:31
  and the Egyptians and that captivity but
• 16:34
  I want you to know something else sin is
• 16:37
  holding some of you captive and the Lord
• 16:40
  says I'll have compassion on you and I will loose you
• 16:43
  from the bondage of that sin that sin
• 16:46
  that you harbor in your heart that you harbor in your life
• 16:49
  that is causing you to have bad fellowship with
• 16:52
  me that iniquity that keeps me from hearing your prayers if
• 16:56
  you'll just turn around and you'll
• 16:59
  just repent I'll have compassion on them
• 17:01
  and I tell you the Lord says he is gracious and merciful and will not turn away
• 17:07
  his face from you if you return unto him you may be in a storm because you got
• 17:11
  yourself there you may be in the storm because you've forsaken what you know
• 17:15
  to be true but my Bible says if we confess our sins,
• 17:19
  he's faithful just to forgive us our sins and he'll cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
• 17:25
  And my Bible says that I just read in your hearing that if we turn again unto
• 17:29
  him, he'll have compassion on us.
• 17:31
  And perhaps the greatest place that I see in the scriptures this morning about
• 17:37
  where he's already in the storm is found in Matthew chapter 14, beginning in verse 22.
• 17:44
  And the Bible says in a straight way Jesus constrained his disciples to get
• 17:48
  into a ship and to go before him unto the other side while he sent the multitude away.
• 17:53
  He knew where they were. He sent them there.
• 17:57
  He had a plan. He knew where they were. They were not out of his sight,
• 18:00
  and they weren't out of his mind.
• 18:03
  And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to
• 18:06
  pray, and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
• 18:09
  But when the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves for the
• 18:13
  wind was contrary and in the fourth watch of the night jesus went unto them walking on the sea.

  Is no record thus far of the disciples
• 18:25
  having any conversation with Jesus asking him to come on the scene.
• 18:33
  The winds or waves are boisterous. The winds are contrary.
• 18:38
  I want you to think about how he uses that word. The waves were contrary and the wind was.
• 18:45
  But when he spoke, they had to Listen, some of us ain't got enough sense to
• 18:52
  match up against the wind when he speaks.
• 18:56
  We just hold it in our heart. And we're so contrary that we won't allow him
• 19:01
  to have his will and his way.
• 19:03
  I don't know about you, but I am just absolutely, fabulously glad and blessed
• 19:08
  that he's already there.
• 19:10
  I'm glad he was there in the fire. And I'm glad he's there in the storm.
• 19:15
  And I'm glad he's there when I pillow my head at night and I pray and he said
• 19:19
  I'll answer thee but straightway Jesus spake unto them and saying be of good
• 19:24
  cheer it is I be not afraid.
• 19:27
  Not only is he already there he's already trying to speak peace to your heart,
• 19:33
  you're in the midst of the storm and you're looking for right and you're looking
• 19:36
  for wrong and you're looking for left and you're looking up and you're looking
• 19:39
  down and you're looking in every direction,
• 19:41
  but you're not looking for Jesus and he's saying hey hey here am i i'm here
• 19:46
  i'm in the midst of the storm don't be afraid i've got it under control.
• 19:51
  Man you're just stuck on the storm it happens to poor peter peter says if it
• 19:56
  be you lord come so he's looking in the right place lord says come and he comes he's obedient,
• 20:02
  oh he's almost there to victory he can see victory.
• 20:07
  Devil snags him by the leg because he's got his eyes in the wrong place.
• 20:12
  He stopped looking to Jesus. When he began to look at Jesus and started telling
• 20:18
  the storm how big his God was, he obeyed Jesus and he walked on the water.
• 20:24
  But as soon as he started looking around and thinking, Jiminy,
• 20:27
  Christmas, I can't walk on water.
• 20:30
  Whoa, look at that big wave.
• 20:33
  Well, he might have been able to take me through this, but surely this one will take me down.
• 20:37
  That's what we do look at what he's done he's the same god yesterday today and forevermore,
• 20:43
  and what he done for you yesterday my friend he'll do for you today and it's
• 20:46
  time you told the devil listen this is how big my god is i don't care how big
• 20:51
  my storm is everything's under his feet and i trust in him the hebrew children
• 20:58
  said my god will deliver me peter slid all over the place.

  But when he finally got to the point that he raised up his hands and said, Lord, save me.
• 21:10
  Immediately, the Lord brought him to him, and together they walked the ship.
• 21:15
  Oh, I don't know where you're at, and I don't know what you're doing,
• 21:17
  and I don't know anything else other than I just praise the Lord that he's been
• 21:21
  with me and that he's already here.
• 21:24
  And whatever your storm Whatever your crisis I promise you He's already there.
