- 0:07Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Scheger is a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. What's Up, Everybody? This is
- 0:24Speaker 1: Peter Schreger. This is the Season with Peter Schreger. I
- 0:28Speaker 1: am joined by my lovely podcast producer, slash Wingman, slash engineer,
- 0:35Speaker 1: slash everything mister Aaron wang Kaufman, also joined by Jason
- 0:40Speaker 1: English from the iHeartMedia team. In the house here in
- 0:43Speaker 1: New York City on a Tuesday morning, and we're coming
- 0:46Speaker 1: off a dramatic victory for the Cincinnati Bengals to keep
- 0:50Speaker 1: their season alive against all odds, where Jake Browning went
- 0:54Speaker 1: into Jacksonville as a double digit underdog and was able
- 0:58Speaker 1: to get the best of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who were
- 1:01Speaker 1: coming into the game with thoughts of a one seed
- 1:03Speaker 1: and a bye and home field throughout the playoff. The
- 1:07Speaker 1: Bengals win, they go to six and six, they're in
- 1:11Speaker 1: last place in their division, and yet they're very much alive.
- 1:15Speaker 1: They're the eleven seed right now. And above them are
- 1:18Speaker 1: the Bills, who are a similar six and six, the
- 1:21Speaker 1: Broncos a similar six and six, the Texans a seven
- 1:24Speaker 1: and five, and then this glut of teams, Steelers, Colts, Browns,
- 1:28Speaker 1: who are all seven and five, but all have backup
- 1:31Speaker 1: quarterbacks in at the moment I see Browning and he
- 1:35Speaker 1: was electric. He looked like he belonged out there. And
- 1:37Speaker 1: I did a little work on Jake Browning before he
- 1:41Speaker 1: started last week against Pittsburgh, and Aaron I could tell you.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Everyone I spoke to was like, oh, no, no, he's
- 1:45Speaker 1: ready for this. We'll hear that all the time. He's
- 1:47Speaker 1: ready for this. Jake Browning was awesome at the University
- 1:52Speaker 1: of Washington. His sophomore season, he threw forty touchdown passes
- 1:56Speaker 1: for the Huskies and then was finishing sixth in the
- 1:59Speaker 1: Heisman ballot. That was in twenty sixteen. All Right plays
- 2:04Speaker 1: a couple more years ghost un ends up in Minnesota,
- 2:07Speaker 1: where he was with the Vikings for several seasons, couldn't
- 2:10Speaker 1: get on the field. Eventually is signed by the Cincinnati
- 2:15Speaker 1: Bengals and beats out Trevor Simeon for that backup role
- 2:18Speaker 1: to Joe Burrow. Burrow goes down, they throw Browning in.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But the key was this past offseason. I'm told that
- 2:25Speaker 1: Jake Browning this past offseason, knowing he was gonna be
- 2:27Speaker 1: playing with the Cincinnati Bengals, and knowing that Joe Burrow
- 2:30Speaker 1: and he were already developing this great relationship. He ended
- 2:33Speaker 1: up working with Jordan Palmer, the same quarterbacks coach who
- 2:37Speaker 1: works with Joe Burrow. Those guys got together this offseason
- 2:40Speaker 1: and if you watched on Monday Night, I'm sorry if
- 2:43Speaker 1: him just being too poetic or what. Jake Browning looks
- 2:47Speaker 1: like Joe Burrow, everything about him, the throwing motion, the confidence,
- 2:51Speaker 1: the moxie, and then we get to Good Morning Football
- 2:54Speaker 1: on Monday and it's this great story. I think the
- 2:56Speaker 1: stat and I might be wrong on this, but I
- 2:58Speaker 1: think he was like either signed to a practice squad,
- 3:01Speaker 1: cut released all this stuff twenty different times in his
- 3:04Speaker 1: NFL career already, meaning he's been bounced from active roster
- 3:08Speaker 1: to practice squad, to one team to another. So think
- 3:11Speaker 1: about all those little paper cuts and to finally get
- 3:14Speaker 1: a chance to be an NFL player, like you are
- 3:16Speaker 1: ready to go. And when you get that opportunity, sometimes
- 3:19Speaker 1: you lose sixteen to ten to the Pittsburgh Steelers in
- 3:22Speaker 1: that first debut and everyone says the season's over. And
- 3:25Speaker 1: the second time, it's on Monday Night Football, you're a
- 3:27Speaker 1: double digital underdog and you look like as you're as
- 3:29Speaker 1: good as any NFL quarterback on the field. And get
- 3:33Speaker 1: on Good Morning Football and we start talking about it
- 3:36Speaker 1: and it kind of hits like Gatorade Player of the
- 3:38Speaker 1: Year in the state of California. Okay, that's a big deal.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Goes University of Washington, where he starts three years for
- 3:46Speaker 1: the Washington Huskies, a big program, a state school, a
- 3:50Speaker 1: massive So you're the big man on campus in high school,
- 3:53Speaker 1: you're the big man on campus in college. You get
- 3:55Speaker 1: humbled a little bit, but you are an NFL player
- 3:57Speaker 1: and then you get thrown into the fire and it's like, oh,
- 4:01Speaker 1: this guy was made for this. He is ready his
- 4:03Speaker 1: whole life, he's been that dude. And he gets to
- 4:07Speaker 1: go in about swagger and leadership and poise and whether
- 4:10Speaker 1: the guys can respond. You saw those Bengals players responding
- 4:13Speaker 1: to him. Bring all this up because we go around
- 4:16Speaker 1: the AFC specifically, and you're looking at teams and you've
- 4:21Speaker 1: got to it with the Dolphins, got Lamar Jackson with
- 4:24Speaker 1: the Ravens. You've got obviously Mahomes with the Chiefs, and
- 4:28Speaker 1: then you look at the other teams playing for the
- 4:29Speaker 1: playoffs right now. The Jaguars, well, they're gonna be without
- 4:32Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence, So does CJ. Bether have it to get
- 4:35Speaker 1: him a few wins? Can c J. Bethard be that dude?
- 4:38Speaker 1: The Steelers there without Kenny Pickett? Can Mitchell Trubisky be
- 4:41Speaker 1: that guy? The Colts there without Anthony Richardson? Minchew's been
- 4:45Speaker 1: an amazing story? Can he be that guy? The Browns.
- 4:48Speaker 1: They're on to their second third quarterback in Joe Flacco.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And then there are those two teams that we were
- 4:53Speaker 1: talking about earlier, two teams that are sitting right above
- 4:57Speaker 1: the Bengals. One of them's got a super Bowl winning
- 5:00Speaker 1: quarterback in the Denver Broncos who has been there and
- 5:04Speaker 1: done that, and a super Bowl winning coach and Sean
- 5:06Speaker 1: Peyton who has been there and done that. And then
- 5:09Speaker 1: there's that sweet little ten seed out of the sixteen
- 5:13Speaker 1: teams in the AFC, a six and six team that
- 5:15Speaker 1: nobody's talking about because everyone's written them off and they've
- 5:18Speaker 1: got an impossible schedule up ahead. Aaron, you know who
- 5:21Speaker 1: I'm talking about. Talking about the Buffalo Bills. You've got
- 5:25Speaker 1: a bunch of backup quarterbacks limping into the playoffs. The
- 5:29Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills have Josh Allen coming off a week thirteen
- 5:32Speaker 1: by in the Kansas City Chiefs up ahead. I am sorry,
- 5:36Speaker 1: if I'm just banking on yesteryear or I'm looking at
- 5:39Speaker 1: the Madden cover, you can't tell me that this Buffalo
- 5:43Speaker 1: Bills team with Josh Allen and an AFC that is
- 5:47Speaker 1: just riddled with backup quarterbacks at every position, can't make
- 5:50Speaker 1: a run. I'm looking at the Buffalo Bills schedule right now.
- 5:54Speaker 1: They've got the Chiefs where they've won before an arrowhead
- 5:56Speaker 1: in the regular season. That's this weekend. Okay, next weekend
- 6:00Speaker 1: they host the Cowboys. Following weekend they go to La
- 6:03Speaker 1: for a Peacock NBC streaming against the Chargers. Then they
- 6:09Speaker 1: end with the Patriots and the Dolphins. That's about as
- 6:11Speaker 1: tough as schedule you're gonna get.
- 6:13Speaker 2: As you're saying, the AFC's glittered with backup quarterbacks, we're
- 6:17Speaker 2: not facing any of them, I mean, except whatever is
- 6:20Speaker 2: happening in New England at the time. That's the only one.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Though.
- 6:24Speaker 2: We still have to face Mahomes, still at the face
- 6:26Speaker 2: Dac still at to face Herbert and Tua, and so
- 6:30Speaker 2: I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I've got this Bill's Chiefs game circle. The Chiefs come
- 6:35Speaker 1: in after a terrible loss in Lambeau and everyone can
- 6:39Speaker 1: point to the officiating, and they did on Monday morning,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and that was overshadowing what Jordan Love did. And also
- 6:44Speaker 1: just how inept the Chiefs receivers look week in week out.
- 6:47Speaker 1: We thought we broke through with Rashi Rice. It wasn't
- 6:50Speaker 1: happening this week. I'm sorry. I'm looking at this playoff picture.
- 6:53Speaker 1: It is so wide open. And if you were to
- 6:55Speaker 1: tell me today that the Bengals, the Bills, the Broncos,
- 6:58Speaker 1: or the Texans are going to make that playoffs instead
- 7:01Speaker 1: of the Steelers Colton Browns, I would say possible, and
- 7:04Speaker 1: almost like it will happen on those teams will get in.
- 7:08Speaker 1: The NFL expanded the season to eighteen games, but they
- 7:11Speaker 1: also expanded the playoffs to seven teams. It makes for
- 7:14Speaker 1: these next few weeks to be just downright wild. Just
- 7:18Speaker 1: for your knowledge, here, we're looking at this thing. We
- 7:21Speaker 1: are now going into what week fourteen, That's what we're
- 7:24Speaker 1: headed towards. There has been just one of the thirty
- 7:27Speaker 1: two teams eliminated. The Carolina Panthers. Right now as we
- 7:31Speaker 1: sit here, the two and ten Patriots have a path
- 7:34Speaker 1: to the playoffs. The three and ten Cardinals, they have
- 7:37Speaker 1: a path to the playoffs. Seven seeds per conference. Not
- 7:42Speaker 1: everyone can make it, but quite a bit can. And
- 7:46Speaker 1: I look at the Buffalo Bills with that ten seed.
- 7:48Speaker 1: If they beat Kansas City, you better believe they're going
- 7:50Speaker 1: to be the team de jure. And there's suddenly a
- 7:52Speaker 1: seven and sixteam coming out of the bye, rested, ready
- 7:56Speaker 1: to go. And if they lose, I'm not ready to
- 7:58Speaker 1: say their season's over either. That is just how long
- 8:01Speaker 1: this NFL campaign is, all right? That's my thought on
- 8:04Speaker 1: the Jake Browning experience and what we've got in the AFC.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Real quick. On the NFC, I gotta say an apology,
- 8:12Speaker 1: and that apology goes to everybody in Los Angeles. I
- 8:16Speaker 1: have been the biggest Rams supporter for years, since McVeigh
- 8:20Speaker 1: got the job in twenty sixteen. I've known Sean, you know,
- 8:25Speaker 1: if you listen to the podcast for several years before that.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Dear friend, this is the first year I ever didn't
- 8:31Speaker 1: pick the Rams to go to the playoffs. I just
- 8:32Speaker 1: didn't think there was a chance there's just too much
- 8:34Speaker 1: young talent the Rams. They are six and six, they
- 8:38Speaker 1: are on the bubble. They're the first team out of
- 8:40Speaker 1: the playoffs right now. They are winners of four straight games.
- 8:44Speaker 1: They are red hot, and they have a game in
- 8:46Speaker 1: Baltimore this weekend. You better believe the Rams are coming
- 8:49Speaker 1: in with a full head of steam and they think
- 8:50Speaker 1: they can get this thing done. Yes, Nikouah got banged
- 8:53Speaker 1: up a little bit. I think he's gonna play. Yes,
- 8:55Speaker 1: we saw you know. Obviously, some younger players make have
- 8:59Speaker 1: the games of their lives the last few weeks. Can
- 9:01Speaker 1: they keep it going? We'll see. Bottom line is this
- 9:04Speaker 1: when it gets down to the nitty gritty. I just
- 9:06Speaker 1: talked about Josh Allen. Quarterbacks matter, and Matthew Stafford is
- 9:10Speaker 1: playing really well, and head coaches matter, and Sean McVay
- 9:14Speaker 1: can coach the hell out of the game. A couple
- 9:16Speaker 1: of years back, when the Rams won the Super Bowl
- 9:17Speaker 1: that year, they went into a rainy Baltimore and Odell
- 9:20Speaker 1: Beckham had the game of his career, just making clutch
- 9:23Speaker 1: pass and clutch catch after clutz catch late in the season,
- 9:27Speaker 1: and the Rams were able to beat the Ravens that
- 9:29Speaker 1: day and that set them up for a nice little
- 9:30Speaker 1: situation in the playoffs seating wise, Can they do it again?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Can the Rams go into Baltimore and beat the Ravens,
- 9:37Speaker 1: the Ravens who are coming off of buye and are fresh.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I love the NFL season always, but this is where
- 9:42Speaker 1: it gets real. It's post Thanksgiving and it's when each
- 9:46Speaker 1: game matters and we start looking at the geometry of
- 9:48Speaker 1: it all and who's going to get in and who's
- 9:50Speaker 1: going to be left sitting at home? The Rams. Beyond
- 9:53Speaker 1: this game, which is obviously a tough one, you're going
- 9:55Speaker 1: up against the NFL's you know, maybe most potent offense
- 9:58Speaker 1: with what you've got in Baltimore. They host the Commanders,
- 10:03Speaker 1: they host the Saints, they play the Giants, and then
- 10:06Speaker 1: they play the Niners. There's a legit path that the
- 10:08Speaker 1: Rams can win ten games this season. You win ten
- 10:10Speaker 1: games the NFC, you're in. So this is when it
- 10:14Speaker 1: comes to my apology. I didn't think they were gonna tank.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I just didn't think this was the year I left
- 10:19Speaker 1: the Rams out of the playoffs for the first time
- 10:21Speaker 1: ever since mcvay's been the coach. And here I am
- 10:24Speaker 1: on a first week at December, and I'm regretting that
- 10:28Speaker 1: decision before the season. Aaron, who were your Super Bowl
- 10:31Speaker 1: picks before?
- 10:32Speaker 2: My see, before this season, I did Eagles Bengals.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna let you do a do over right now,
- 10:42Speaker 1: or you can stay the same and double down Eagles.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Are you keeping with the Eagles or would.
- 10:46Speaker 2: You change after this weekend? I think you have to
- 10:49Speaker 2: go to San Francisco. They looked I think the first
- 10:53Speaker 2: two drives. I was texting my friend Bennaton, who's the
- 10:57Speaker 2: Eagles writer, and I was like, man, the Bills were
- 11:00Speaker 2: doing more against the Eagles than the forty nine ers are.
- 11:02Speaker 2: And then then the forty nine ers woke up and
- 11:05Speaker 2: they were unstoppable and Debo can do anything off to
- 11:09Speaker 2: the side, and Kittle's making catches and CMC's breaking runs
- 11:13Speaker 2: and Ayuka is getting open, and it's like, how do
- 11:16Speaker 2: you withstand them? I don't understand. I don't get it.
- 11:19Speaker 2: You just have to score more than that. I mean,
- 11:21Speaker 2: that's that's a dumb way. That's how football works. You
- 11:23Speaker 2: just score more than the other team. But I think
- 11:25Speaker 2: the forty nine ers are incredible, and I think that
- 11:29Speaker 2: they are my number one, so they would replace the
- 11:31Speaker 2: Eagles Bengals.
- 11:33Speaker 1: We know they just wanted to said this beautiful SOILOQUI
- 11:35Speaker 1: about Jake Browning, who, by the way, is the man.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I watched this post game press conference like I kind
- 11:39Speaker 1: of want to run through a wall for Jake Browning.
- 11:42Speaker 1: That said, you could move off from the Bengals. You
- 11:44Speaker 1: could pick any other team right now as we head
- 11:47Speaker 1: into Week fourteen. Who you rolling with in the AFC.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I don't know that's fair. I appreciate that, dude, because
- 11:53Speaker 1: the Dolphins just lit up another bad team and it's like,
- 11:56Speaker 1: what do we do with that?
- 11:59Speaker 2: And the Ravens, as good as they've been. The Mark
- 12:01Speaker 2: Andrews loss is huge. Like Mark Andrews is the Kelsey
- 12:05Speaker 2: for Baltimore. He is so important. So lamar say, Flowers
- 12:10Speaker 2: looks great, although Beckham's making catches. I still am holding
- 12:13Speaker 2: out hope that Rashad Bateman will someday live up to
- 12:15Speaker 2: his first round draft pedigree. But the Ravens look great.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Their defense is good. I just I don't know how
- 12:22Speaker 2: they do it without Andrews, and I don't know.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I got it.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Baltimore also loses in the playoffs a lot. Harbaugh won
- 12:32Speaker 1: a Super Bowl ten years ago, and since then, there's
- 12:34Speaker 1: been a lot of questionable playoff losses. The one of
- 12:37Speaker 1: the Titans at home when they were the one seed,
- 12:38Speaker 1: the trip to Buffalo where they did't show up on
- 12:40Speaker 1: a Saturday night, and of course you go to the
- 12:41Speaker 1: Patriots games where they had fourteen point lead in Foxborough.
- 12:44Speaker 1: So it's like, yeah, I get it, and you mentioned
- 12:48Speaker 1: the Chiefs. Yeah, I like.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Kelsey is still an incredible player, but I don't know
- 12:55Speaker 2: if he is head and shoulders above everyone else anymore
- 12:58Speaker 2: in the way that like he just Pacheco looked amazing,
- 13:01Speaker 2: like he just looked great, but our Checho and Kelsey
- 13:07Speaker 2: enough like they the receivers, like you were saying, where
- 13:10Speaker 2: she Rice was getting going? And then still there's just
- 13:13Speaker 2: there's a lot that Mahomes is not that Mahomes is
- 13:16Speaker 2: leaving on the table, but the receivers are leaving on
- 13:18Speaker 2: the table for Mahomes. Everyone's that's the same message everyone has.
- 13:21Speaker 2: That's nothing new, But I have yet to be Usually
- 13:27Speaker 2: I feel like I watch a Chiefs game and I'm
- 13:29Speaker 2: just like, yeah, it doesn't matter, they're down in the
- 13:31Speaker 2: third quarter, they're gonna win, and they win and I
- 13:33Speaker 2: have yet to have that feeling this year.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I think I uh said it on the show a
- 13:38Speaker 1: couple of things. One last year, we all were saying
- 13:40Speaker 1: the same thing, and then they all figured it out.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Like in the Super Bowl, Caadarius, Tony and Sky Moore
- 13:46Speaker 1: were making big plays, and in the AFC Championship Game,
- 13:49Speaker 1: Marcus Valdez Scantling had the game of his life and
- 13:51Speaker 1: Juju was so good at some point hasn't happened yet
- 13:54Speaker 1: for these guys. I look at zach Ertz as a
- 13:57Speaker 1: big wild card, like where's zach Ertz gonna end up?
- 14:01Speaker 1: Because I think he is still a very viable pass catcher.
- 14:03Speaker 1: And obviously there's a lot of ties to Philadelphia, and
- 14:05Speaker 1: obviously Baltimore needs a tight end. As we record this
- 14:08Speaker 1: Tuesday morning, zach Ertz has yet to sign, I said
- 14:12Speaker 1: on Fox on Sunday, because I've heard that there has
- 14:14Speaker 1: been some conversations. The Chiefs make so much sense to me.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I can see that. I think he would be great.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I mean, like they need just a pass catcher, you see.
- 14:23Speaker 2: I know they have a lot of tight ends and
- 14:26Speaker 2: catches stuff for them. I think Ertz would be a
- 14:29Speaker 2: safety valve. I think is the wors you used on
- 14:32Speaker 2: Good Morning Football today, and it's perfect.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I chose the Chiefs and the Niners before this season.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I will not move off the Niners. Tempted to move
- 14:42Speaker 1: off the Chiefs, and the team I would move off
- 14:44Speaker 1: for would actually be the Miami Dolphins. I just think
- 14:47Speaker 1: they're so electric and last week what they did to
- 14:50Speaker 1: watch them before the Jets, like, you cannot here's what
- 14:53Speaker 1: you can only drive the car to the keys that
- 14:57Speaker 1: you're given. Yeah, that makes sense. So like the schedule,
- 15:01Speaker 1: they've played three really good teams at the times they
- 15:03Speaker 1: played them, including the Bills, and they've lost those games.
- 15:06Speaker 1: But you can't slight them for beating, you know, bad teams.
- 15:11Speaker 1: The last few weeks. They've got the Titans on Monday Night.
- 15:14Speaker 1: No one's gonna crown them for that. They've got the
- 15:15Speaker 1: Jets the week after. No one's gonna crown them for that.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Dallas comes to town on Christmas Eve, which is actually
- 15:20Speaker 1: a really fun game. I'm assuming that's a Fox Burke
- 15:22Speaker 1: cart Olsen game. That's great. And then they finish with
- 15:25Speaker 1: the Ravens in the Bills. So we're gonna know. We'll
- 15:28Speaker 1: know Christmas Eve, New Year's eve and we'll know January
- 15:30Speaker 1: seventh when they play the Bills, like is this team
- 15:33Speaker 1: for real? But until then, you're probably gonna have the
- 15:35Speaker 1: same thoughts you have on them no matter what they do.
- 15:38Speaker 1: But I would probably just stay with the Chiefs. I'm
- 15:40Speaker 1: cool with my Niners Chiefs.
- 15:42Speaker 2: And it's wild because I would assume Monday morning a
- 15:46Speaker 2: lot of people were throwing Jacksonville in there with how
- 15:48Speaker 2: they're playing, and then obviously.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Lawrence goes back and.
- 15:53Speaker 2: They don't win at home, like and their defense just
- 15:56Speaker 2: gave up.
- 15:58Speaker 1: You name the team, I'll pick it up part like
- 16:00Speaker 1: a carcass other than the forty nine ers right now.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Last thing, the draft. If the draft were to day,
- 16:06Speaker 1: the Patriots would have the second overall pick. To see
- 16:11Speaker 1: the Patriots lose six nothing in those Patriot pat red jerseys,
- 16:15Speaker 1: and then to see the draft order and the Patriots second,
- 16:18Speaker 1: and then to see the Patriots playing the Steelers. Those
- 16:21Speaker 1: are two like those are blue chip, those are like,
- 16:26Speaker 1: you know.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Us steel versus you know, the the Rockefellers, Rocke Carnegie.
- 16:31Speaker 1: You know, like what a game that's gonna be? Steelers Patriots? Sorry,
- 16:40Speaker 1: I know Amazon. I think Amazon's a sponsor of the podcast.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I think I'm just allowed to say it, Like we
- 16:45Speaker 1: all looked at that as oh my god. Week fourteen
- 16:48Speaker 1: they gave Amazon Steelers Patriots. I don't know what happens
- 16:54Speaker 1: in New England over the next six weeks, but I
- 16:56Speaker 1: will say this, You're gonna likely draft a quarterback so
- 16:59Speaker 1: you have a new face of the franchise. If I
- 17:02Speaker 1: were to say right now, if I thought, and I
- 17:04Speaker 1: don't know if this, you know Simons always talks about
- 17:06Speaker 1: the aggregators and they pull content. I don't think Bill
- 17:11Speaker 1: Belichick's going to be the coach next year. I don't
- 17:15Speaker 1: know how it goes down yet. I'll get all the information.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I'm sure I will work on it, but like I
- 17:19Speaker 1: don't see him coaching the New England Patriots next year.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I mean, whether he walks away, whether he's fired, whether whatever,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know how that is where
- 17:27Speaker 1: he's going to be. Does he step away, I don't know.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Let's just say from the just look at like on paper,
- 17:34Speaker 1: if I'm saying this new quarterback, new coach. If Belichick leaves,
- 17:38Speaker 1: that means new decision makers, meaning the front office. Either
- 17:41Speaker 1: if someone's elevated and is now the new GM and
- 17:43Speaker 1: the final say so you're talking about potentially three different
- 17:48Speaker 1: major changes in New England, which would be such a
- 17:51Speaker 1: title wave. But yeah, I don't think Mac Jones or
- 17:55Speaker 1: Bailey Zappi is the quarterback next year. I don't think
- 17:59Speaker 1: Bill Belichick's coaching the Patriots next year. And I don't
- 18:02Speaker 1: think whoever is drafting that quarterback is necessarily the same person,
- 18:08Speaker 1: which is Belichick or people that were drafting the last
- 18:11Speaker 1: few draft classes. So that could be just a massive
- 18:14Speaker 1: change in the NFL. And I said earlier this week,
- 18:18Speaker 1: like I remember when Parcelles came and drafted Bledsoe and
- 18:20Speaker 1: they got new uniforms, and Crafts was a new owner
- 18:22Speaker 1: and they got the new stadium a couple of years later,
- 18:24Speaker 1: Like that was a major c change and the Patriots
- 18:26Speaker 1: became the Patriots. It's been thirty years. I feel like
- 18:30Speaker 1: there's big changes in New England, all right.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Do you think that New England job is that one
- 18:35Speaker 2: of the assuming everything goes the way you said, where
- 18:38Speaker 2: they're they're gonna be taking a quarterback, Belichick's gonna be out,
- 18:41Speaker 2: There's gonna be a new GM, a new coach, maybe
- 18:43Speaker 2: a whole overhaul the front office. Is that the most
- 18:47Speaker 2: attractive potential coaching gig? Last week we talked about all
- 18:52Speaker 2: the potential coaching things like I don't want.
- 18:54Speaker 1: To speculate too much, but like you look at some
- 18:56Speaker 1: of the quarterbacks who could be I talked about Bryce
- 19:00Speaker 1: Young last week. I think it's really attractive to want
- 19:03Speaker 1: to coach Bryce Young. Maybe not as attractive as some
- 19:06Speaker 1: of the other names that you hear tossed around, like
- 19:08Speaker 1: Justin Herbert is an incredible young quarterback. If you're a
- 19:13Speaker 1: young offensive coach, or if you're even an offensive coach,
- 19:16Speaker 1: or if you're an old time coach who's being rehired
- 19:19Speaker 1: or a retread like if Staley loses his job, that's
- 19:22Speaker 1: a really attractive, really attract job. But you look at
- 19:25Speaker 1: that Patriot logo, you look at the ownership, you look
- 19:28Speaker 1: at the stability, you look at what the fan base is. Yeah,
- 19:32Speaker 1: I think New England would be a really intriguing job.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I don't know if they hire from the outside, though,
- 19:36Speaker 1: I think that might be. That could be Mayo. Gerrod
- 19:41Speaker 1: Mayo is the name you hear a lot, But I
- 19:44Speaker 1: would think that would be a really really cool job
- 19:46Speaker 1: to have to work for the Crafts would be it
- 19:48Speaker 1: would be something because that's just I don't know that
- 19:51Speaker 1: there are resources and everything. There's stability and that fan
- 19:53Speaker 1: base and just the history of the franchise. It's legit.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Washington's interesting if Rom loses his job, because you're then
- 20:00Speaker 1: on like the upswing with new ownership and a new
- 20:02Speaker 1: fresh start and a new building. And that's the debate
- 20:07Speaker 1: for a later date. We'll get there as we go.
- 20:09Speaker 1: But today's guest works for the Philadelphia Eagles. He used
- 20:14Speaker 1: to play for the Houston Texans. He used to play
- 20:16Speaker 1: for the Eagles, used to play for the Rams, and
- 20:20Speaker 1: the end of his career at the Giants, and now
- 20:22Speaker 1: he's doing cool stuff with the Eagles. He went from
- 20:24Speaker 1: just being like in the front office to now kind
- 20:26Speaker 1: of spreading his wings a little bit more. I think
- 20:28Speaker 1: you're going to really like his story and you're really
- 20:30Speaker 1: going to like to get to know him. Our guest
- 20:32Speaker 1: this week on the season is Eagles front office member
- 20:36Speaker 1: Connor Barwine. I'm excited about this week's guest. He's a
- 20:48Speaker 1: former second round pick in the NFL who would go
- 20:51Speaker 1: on to have a decade of a career where he
- 20:54Speaker 1: was one of the better linebackers of his generation, and
- 20:56Speaker 1: then post career bounced around a little bit what I
- 20:59Speaker 1: want to do, became the special assistant to the general
- 21:01Speaker 1: manager in Philadelphia, and now a couple of years after
- 21:05Speaker 1: doing that, Connor Barwin his title is the director of
- 21:09Speaker 1: player Development for the Philadelphia Eagles, and he is joining
- 21:12Speaker 1: us today on the season with Peter Sugar. What's up, Connor?
- 21:15Speaker 3: What's up? Peter? Thanks for having me?
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I love having you on. One of the main
- 21:20Speaker 1: reasons we're doing this and we're linking up is because
- 21:23Speaker 1: of this Philly Special Christmas Special of twenty twenty three.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Now you might, as listeners, have heard about this. This
- 21:31Speaker 1: is the brainchild of not only Connor Barwin, but of
- 21:34Speaker 1: Jason Kelsey. And if you're not aware of what it is, Connor,
- 21:39Speaker 1: why don't you give us just an idea of what
- 21:41Speaker 1: the Philly Special Christmas Special is?
- 21:43Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 21:43Speaker 4: Yeah, So two summers ago, I was in the locker
- 21:47Speaker 4: room and Kelsey's you know, Kelsey and Lane were there
- 21:51Speaker 4: and they said, you know, maybe maybe maybe sometime we
- 21:54Speaker 4: should make a Christmas record and I was like, guys,
- 21:58Speaker 4: we should do it right now.
- 22:01Speaker 1: In the middle of the summer.
- 22:01Speaker 4: I was like, I was like, that's a good idea.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Let's just do it right now. You Lane in Jordan
- 22:06Speaker 4: my life. You guys can all sing. And so I
- 22:10Speaker 4: called Charlie Hall from the War on Drugs and he
- 22:13Speaker 4: was like, yeah, I can help you guys do it.
- 22:17Speaker 4: Long start short, We got together and so we put
- 22:19Speaker 4: out this record last year you can see, and I
- 22:25Speaker 4: was hoping like people would like the music and maybe
- 22:29Speaker 4: we would raise fifty thousand dollars to charity.
- 22:32Speaker 3: And that was it. Like when we first met.
- 22:34Speaker 4: They were like, let's make let's make it serious and
- 22:36Speaker 4: make like really good music. Let's have a lot of
- 22:39Speaker 4: fun doing it, and then let's do something good with
- 22:41Speaker 4: it around the holidays.
- 22:42Speaker 3: And so I was like, oh yeah, fifty thousand.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Dollars, that'd be awesome cool going Fast Forward. People loved it.
- 22:48Speaker 4: The Eagles had a great season that helped. We obviously
- 22:51Speaker 4: lost in the Super Bowl, but we sold, you know,
- 22:55Speaker 4: over twenty thousand records and we donated over one almost
- 23:01Speaker 4: one point three million dollars to Philadelphia organizations, and so
- 23:05Speaker 4: Fast Forward were like, well, we should do this again.
- 23:08Speaker 4: And now this second volume is out, which is eleven Songs.
- 23:14Speaker 4: An original song written by Jason, and we've already doubled
- 23:18Speaker 4: all our sales from last year and they're still on
- 23:20Speaker 4: sale now.
- 23:22Speaker 1: All right, you just kind of blew past the first part.
- 23:24Speaker 1: You're like, Yeah, So I called Charlie Hall from The
- 23:26Speaker 1: War on Drugs, which is you know, if you're not familiar,
- 23:29Speaker 1: go find them on Spotify wherever one of the most
- 23:31Speaker 1: popular bands of the last ten years. Like, you mustn't
- 23:33Speaker 1: have had a relationship with him. Are they Philly band?
- 23:35Speaker 3: Yeah, they're Philly band. I knew Charlie. So my background.
- 23:39Speaker 4: I have a foundation in Philly and I started in
- 23:41Speaker 4: twenty thirteen, and I have a show every summer, and
- 23:45Speaker 4: The War on Drugs played MTWB my benefits show in
- 23:50Speaker 4: twenty It's actually play It was twenty seventeen. It was
- 23:54Speaker 4: the year I left Philly. I was playing in Los Angeles.
- 23:57Speaker 4: It was the one concert Wherever had where I wasn't
- 23:59Speaker 4: physically there, but I had booked it a whole year
- 24:01Speaker 4: ahead of time. So anyways, Charlie. That's how I got
- 24:04Speaker 4: to know Charlie and the whole band and became friends
- 24:07Speaker 4: with Charlie, and I just knew how connected he was
- 24:12Speaker 4: in the music scene in Philadelphia. This, Philly has a
- 24:14Speaker 4: really big music scene, a great music scene, great music history,
- 24:18Speaker 4: and he was the perfect person to call to make
- 24:22Speaker 4: this happen. I mean, he could put it all together.
- 24:24Speaker 4: He has sort of the vision, and then he knew
- 24:26Speaker 4: all the musicians to call to help make it happen.
- 24:29Speaker 4: So it would not have happened without Charlie All.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got a really cool history with Kelsey. You
- 24:37Speaker 1: guys went to college together at Cincinnati and you played
- 24:40Speaker 1: ball with him. Obviously, now people's sexiest man, the whole thing.
- 24:43Speaker 1: His brother's Dayton Taylor Swift, but you know Kelsey from
- 24:47Speaker 1: his teenage years. Talk about your friendship and kind of
- 24:51Speaker 1: the man that he's become, and how you've seen him
- 24:53Speaker 1: grow and mature, and the two of your friendship now
- 24:55Speaker 1: as you're working for the Eagles now for four years
- 24:58Speaker 1: and he's still one of the star players.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's really cool.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I'm really happy for him and his family.
- 25:05Speaker 4: He you know, I don't want to say he hasn't
- 25:09Speaker 4: changed from when he was a walk on at U See,
- 25:11Speaker 4: because he's definitely changed and grown, but he is still
- 25:15Speaker 4: sort of fundamentally the core person that he was when
- 25:18Speaker 4: I met him. This like smart, creative, articulate, extremely hard worker,
- 25:23Speaker 4: humble like all of that, from when he was a
- 25:26Speaker 4: walk on at uc to getting a scholarship to winning
- 25:30Speaker 4: a super Bowl with the Eagles to you know, putting
- 25:33Speaker 4: out you know, a movie last year, to the number
- 25:35Speaker 4: one podcast. I mean, all all those things.
- 25:37Speaker 3: He hasn't changed.
- 25:38Speaker 4: But so happy for him, his family, and you know,
- 25:42Speaker 4: we were working on stuff together. I mean we we
- 25:44Speaker 4: started a record label together to make this this record.
- 25:48Speaker 4: We started a production company to sort of put out
- 25:50Speaker 4: his his document film last year. So the guy is
- 25:55Speaker 4: super smart, really creative, like I said, and it's been
- 25:59Speaker 4: it's been, you know, a pleasure for me to sort
- 26:01Speaker 4: of work with him and help him sort of take
- 26:03Speaker 4: these these ideas he has, uh in turn them into
- 26:06Speaker 4: something something real.
- 26:08Speaker 1: You've always been such a big thinker, but also I
- 26:13Speaker 1: would say a renaissance man in a way. Like I
- 26:15Speaker 1: remember when we interview you and you were on the
- 26:16Speaker 1: Texans You're always doing stuff in that community with the Eagles.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I remember there's a lot of stuff you did with
- 26:20Speaker 1: like the playgrounds in Philadelphia that was a big initiative
- 26:23Speaker 1: of yours. You always seem to get it. When you
- 26:25Speaker 1: were a current player. Where does that come from? How
- 26:28Speaker 1: did you always know that this is more than just
- 26:29Speaker 1: a sports and I'm gonna use this platform to do
- 26:31Speaker 1: bigger and better things.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 26:36Speaker 4: I mean my parents were sort of like always engaged
- 26:40Speaker 4: and pushed us, pushed me and my brothers to do stuff.
- 26:43Speaker 3: I just.
- 26:46Speaker 4: You know, I love football, like I still spend all
- 26:49Speaker 4: my time on people, and it's the greatest. But I
- 26:54Speaker 4: do think doing other stuff outside of football compliments my
- 27:01Speaker 4: ability to sort of be good at football, even in
- 27:03Speaker 4: my post playing days. Like I think having sort of
- 27:06Speaker 4: some business stuff going on keeps my mind sort of
- 27:10Speaker 4: energized and creative and all of it. You know, it
- 27:14Speaker 4: all sort of works together and fits together. So I'm just,
- 27:16Speaker 4: you know, trying to find opportunities to create things that
- 27:21Speaker 4: you know, people enjoy, and you know, in the end,
- 27:24Speaker 4: I think it benefits you know what I do, you know,
- 27:27Speaker 4: day to day still being involved in football.
- 27:30Speaker 1: If the listeners are like I remember, kind of you
- 27:33Speaker 1: were awesome, Like twenty eleven, you were a defensive Player
- 27:36Speaker 1: of the Month in November that season, you had eleven
- 27:40Speaker 1: and a half sacks. You played in all sixteen games,
- 27:42Speaker 1: and these were Texans teams that were going to the playoffs.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Every we were rolling back.
- 27:46Speaker 4: That was JJ Wats's first couple of years. Brian Cushing,
- 27:50Speaker 4: Demico Ryans, and Larryl Williams, they remembers the Letterman jackets.
- 27:55Speaker 4: That was my dumb ass and Sean Cody bringing the
- 27:58Speaker 4: letterman jacket we.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Went to So is that your idea? The history goes,
- 28:00Speaker 1: you guys are going up to Foxborough, it's a big
- 28:02Speaker 1: game against the Patriots. Patriots and Brady Daman, the whole crew,
- 28:05Speaker 1: whole crew, they're loaded, and you guys show up in
- 28:07Speaker 1: varsity jackets and then they kicked your ass on a
- 28:09Speaker 1: Sunday night. If I remember what what was the is
- 28:12Speaker 1: that the story or I haven't pretty much summed up right?
- 28:15Speaker 3: I mean it was it was.
- 28:16Speaker 4: It was me and Sean Cody and look at like,
- 28:18Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm not ashamed of the Letterman jacket. We
- 28:21Speaker 4: weah like we we were a connected team, like and
- 28:25Speaker 4: like those little things on teams are fun.
- 28:28Speaker 3: And me and Sean.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Were like, yeah, like this is like we felt like
- 28:32Speaker 4: a high school team, which is why we were so good.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I mean we were eleven and one.
- 28:35Speaker 4: We would to go play them and the funny part is,
- 28:37Speaker 4: I cannot believe we convinced sixty guys to buy I
- 28:44Speaker 4: went back and like everybody bought their own Letterman jacket
- 28:47Speaker 4: and they are sweet, and so we all wore them,
- 28:49Speaker 4: you know, because it's hot in Houston, so we need jackets.
- 28:51Speaker 4: To go down New England. We thought we were gonna
- 28:53Speaker 4: whoop their ass. They whooped our ass. But yeah, it
- 28:57Speaker 4: was People still bring it up to remind you what
- 29:00Speaker 4: actually happened was we went there eleven and one.
- 29:02Speaker 3: We lost.
- 29:04Speaker 4: Yeah, we came back and I think we had to
- 29:08Speaker 4: win two of the last four to have the number
- 29:10Speaker 4: one seed, and we went one in three down the stretch,
- 29:15Speaker 4: we lost the number one seed, had to go back
- 29:18Speaker 4: to New England in the playoffs and lost again. So
- 29:22Speaker 4: everyone talks about the Letterman jacket. But I'll uh, I
- 29:25Speaker 4: will say when I when I stopped playing, my wife
- 29:30Speaker 4: asked all my former teammates to like send little videos
- 29:33Speaker 4: in every single guy from Houston made a little video
- 29:37Speaker 4: and they like pulled out their like Letterman jacket jacket.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Yeah, so there's At the time, it was who are
- 29:46Speaker 1: these pun All the talk shows They're like no, it
- 29:49Speaker 1: was a cool memory. Something we all have together.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Oh exactly. It ended up being a cool memory there.
- 29:52Speaker 3: We still mess around.
- 29:53Speaker 1: About, joke about you guys were rolling and then you
- 29:56Speaker 1: signed with the Eagles in twenty thirteen. Was that Chip
- 29:59Speaker 1: Kelly Eagles? What team was that?
- 30:00Speaker 3: Those Chips and Chips first year?
- 30:03Speaker 4: So we did, you know, everybody knows history, I think, well,
- 30:05Speaker 4: if you don't know, Chip came for three years. The
- 30:08Speaker 4: first two years we won twenty games, and then the
- 30:11Speaker 4: third year so everything fell apart. And then I was
- 30:14Speaker 4: here with Doug Pearson's first year, and then I left,
- 30:18Speaker 4: and then Doug won the Super Bowl the year after, and.
- 30:21Speaker 1: You go to coach with play for our mutual friend
- 30:24Speaker 1: Sean McVay. I only say mutual friend. I'm at mcvay's
- 30:27Speaker 1: wedding and who's there across the table from me, mister
- 30:29Speaker 1: Connor borrowing And we were hanging there, and I remember
- 30:32Speaker 1: when you got to LA they were like this guy,
- 30:34Speaker 1: this guy's going to be a coach or a GM
- 30:36Speaker 1: or be the commissioner. I mean I remember Sean was
- 30:37Speaker 1: just blown away with the professional that you were.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Yeah, well, you know, I would have loved to win
- 30:41Speaker 4: a super Bowl with Eagles that year. But I am
- 30:44Speaker 4: so thankful that I got to go out there and
- 30:46Speaker 4: play with Sean, and with and Aaron and I mean Jered,
- 30:50Speaker 4: I mean so many good guys on the team.
- 30:52Speaker 3: This was unbelievable.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Got to know you out there, so you know, it
- 30:56Speaker 4: was really I mean, if you remember, we were a
- 30:58Speaker 4: really good team that year.
- 30:59Speaker 3: We lost in the playoffs. Falcon Pharaoh Cooper. It's up, Pharaoh,
- 31:04Speaker 3: you know, I hope you're doing well.
- 31:05Speaker 4: We had two turnovers on special teams and like we
- 31:08Speaker 4: defensively couldn't get the ball. It was just I still
- 31:11Speaker 4: I still say to people that was probably one of
- 31:13Speaker 4: the best team of my ten years. That was that
- 31:16Speaker 4: might have been the best team. That was the best team.
- 31:19Speaker 4: That was the best team.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I was on Saturday night playoff game. The Falcons had
- 31:23Speaker 1: just been to the Super Bowl, but they got back,
- 31:25Speaker 1: and it was that year that it was like everything
- 31:27Speaker 1: was clicking for the Rams. You're right, Pharaoh had a
- 31:28Speaker 1: couple mistakes on special teams and then I think Julio
- 31:31Speaker 1: killed you guys, like you just kept on making it
- 31:33Speaker 1: a bit, one big play after another. And that's a
- 31:35Speaker 1: team that no one remembers because the following year or
- 31:37Speaker 1: two years later they go to the super Bowl and
- 31:39Speaker 1: then they finally win one. But like that first year,
- 31:41Speaker 1: the first McVeigh year, you were there for that run.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we were.
- 31:43Speaker 4: I mean Todd had an insane year. Todd Gurley was
- 31:46Speaker 4: like unstoppable. Yeah, it was at the Coliseum Saturday night.
- 31:49Speaker 4: We lost the Falcons. Yeah, we defensively wouldn't good enough.
- 31:52Speaker 4: But I think I think the Rams went to the
- 31:55Speaker 4: Super Bowl the following year and lost.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Was it mcgas o year? And then the next year
- 31:59Speaker 3: they won the Super Bowl or two years.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Later lost it? They went they went back down and
- 32:02Speaker 1: then they came back. Yeah, they lost to the Packers
- 32:05Speaker 1: in a playoff game of COVID. They won. But you
- 32:06Speaker 1: were there for the start of it Giants for a year.
- 32:09Speaker 1: And then you're like, I'm done, right is that in
- 32:12Speaker 1: my career? And then it's what now?
- 32:16Speaker 3: Yeah? So then I sort of I always knew.
- 32:20Speaker 4: I wanted to be close to football, just like I
- 32:23Speaker 4: love Like I said, I mean, I love football, but.
- 32:25Speaker 3: I always know I want to do some other stuff.
- 32:27Speaker 4: And so how he you know, said hey when he
- 32:30Speaker 4: cut me, he said, hey, when you're done playing, come
- 32:31Speaker 4: work for me. And so I did that, and so
- 32:35Speaker 4: I started working full time with the Eagles in twenty twenty,
- 32:38Speaker 4: and then at the same time I went.
- 32:39Speaker 3: To Warton and got my MBA.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Is that right?
- 32:43Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 32:43Speaker 1: Yeah, during the COVID season, you're working for the Eagles
- 32:47Speaker 1: in the building or remotely in the building during.
- 32:49Speaker 3: The COVID season.
- 32:50Speaker 4: Congress, you know, credit to Roger Goodell and everybody that
- 32:54Speaker 4: we like, we did it during cold It was crazy.
- 32:57Speaker 4: But yeah, I was in the building in twenty twenty
- 32:59Speaker 4: and I started business school the year after in twenty
- 33:01Speaker 4: twenty one.
- 33:02Speaker 1: And you're going to classes physically at Wharton at University
- 33:05Speaker 1: of Pennsylvania.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah on the weekend, on the weekend.
- 33:09Speaker 1: What's the NBA? What was it for?
- 33:13Speaker 4: Just so I could figure out how to put out
- 33:15Speaker 4: a Christmas record?
- 33:17Speaker 3: Successful? You know.
- 33:18Speaker 1: So I just still imagine you were interacting with incredible
- 33:22Speaker 1: classmates and peers, but probably we're learning from just you know,
- 33:25Speaker 1: leaders of the industry.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Yeah, it was, It was. It was an unbelievable experience.
- 33:30Speaker 4: So many great professors, so many good friends.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Now, it was. It was probably the hardest thing I
- 33:34Speaker 3: ever did in my life. It was. It was harder
- 33:36Speaker 3: than my rookie year it was actually yeah it was.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I mean it was so what like group projects? What
- 33:42Speaker 1: are we talking about? You always hear about these players
- 33:46Speaker 1: going back to school, and I'm like, oh, but like
- 33:47Speaker 1: to go to Wharton. It's not like I'm getting my
- 33:50Speaker 1: degree on University of Phoenix dot com or something. This
- 33:52Speaker 1: is like the real deal. You went and got an
- 33:54Speaker 1: MBA from Wharton.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Yeah, like like tests, I mean like microeconomic tests and
- 34:00Speaker 4: like accounting tests and research papers and yeah, I mean
- 34:05Speaker 4: I think the group stuff. I thrived in the group settings,
- 34:08Speaker 4: like I know how to work with the team and
- 34:10Speaker 4: what my strengths are there, Like I think I think
- 34:12Speaker 4: I helped some of my other classmates and those sort
- 34:15Speaker 4: of environments. But no, it was like I don't know
- 34:19Speaker 4: how to do math. You know, you gotta I gotta
- 34:21Speaker 4: learn how to do math. So but happy I did.
- 34:25Speaker 4: I mean it's I got to get you know. Annie
- 34:27Speaker 4: Wilson was a marketing professor. I took consumer behavior class
- 34:33Speaker 4: and the rollout of this record, from the art work
- 34:37Speaker 4: to how we put it out. I just like copied
- 34:40Speaker 4: everything I learned from that class into into that record.
- 34:43Speaker 1: So, uh, just those lessons, What was it you need
- 34:46Speaker 1: to have? Because like the album cover if you're listening
- 34:48Speaker 1: and not like the album cover almost looks like a
- 34:50Speaker 1: Peanuts cover. It's got an animated three faces, it's my a,
- 34:54Speaker 1: Lota Kelsey and Lane Johnson. And then it's got a
- 34:57Speaker 1: Christmas tree. But there's more to just the album art.
- 35:01Speaker 1: There's a rollout and promotion And what did you learn
- 35:03Speaker 1: from Andy Wilson.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Annie Wilson, I mean, it's it's combination of things.
- 35:07Speaker 4: I mean, on the rollout you sort of which she
- 35:08Speaker 4: sort of taught us, was first sort of like the
- 35:10Speaker 4: slowly dripping out the content creating the story, the sort
- 35:14Speaker 4: of three tier pricing. People you know probably don't want
- 35:16Speaker 4: to hear about this, but how you anchor somebody interest, Yeah,
- 35:19Speaker 4: you anchor somebody on something. For example, we charged people
- 35:24Speaker 4: three things last year, and again this is all for charity,
- 35:27Speaker 4: so I felt like it was a good thing.
- 35:28Speaker 3: So for.
- 35:31Speaker 4: You could buy magnets of the guys, but we said
- 35:34Speaker 4: they cost twenty five dollars to buy.
- 35:37Speaker 3: It really cost us like a couple of dollars to make.
- 35:40Speaker 4: But in your mind you're like, oh, that's worth twenty
- 35:42Speaker 4: five dollars. Then you charge a record, you know, the
- 35:47Speaker 4: final record seventy five, and so people are, all right,
- 35:50Speaker 4: that's worth seventy five.
- 35:53Speaker 3: And then you put a bundle together.
- 35:54Speaker 4: People don't realize when they go to Costco and it's
- 35:56Speaker 4: all just bundling, and then you sort of like and
- 35:58Speaker 4: then we had that, we had something really expensive, and
- 36:00Speaker 4: then we sort of brought it together and people think like, oh,
- 36:03Speaker 4: I'm gonna buy that because I'm saving all this money together.
- 36:07Speaker 3: He just made it all up.
- 36:10Speaker 1: And it's all for charity. So it's great, But like
- 36:12Speaker 1: that kind of stuff where it's not just all right,
- 36:14Speaker 1: here's a vinyl record fifty dollars and here's a picture
- 36:17Speaker 1: of my alta on the cover. Boom go by it
- 36:19Speaker 1: like there's an actual process.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Well even even more so, what I was really getting
- 36:22Speaker 4: to is we studied this like cool framework.
- 36:24Speaker 3: If you go to some business.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Schools, they teach you like what cool is, and this
- 36:28Speaker 4: is sort of like being able to pull from, you know,
- 36:32Speaker 4: the most famous iconic record cover but not infringe on
- 36:36Speaker 4: any of sort of their ip is like if people
- 36:42Speaker 4: ever study Supreme, like that's what Supreme did. They stole
- 36:45Speaker 4: all of that from now we wouldn't say stole.
- 36:48Speaker 1: But still inspiration.
- 36:51Speaker 3: So like This was all.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Like inspired by the Charlie Brown Christmas, which I would
- 36:56Speaker 4: have never thought of unless I took that class.
- 36:58Speaker 1: So okay, Kelsey Lane and mylotta you said that Kelsey
- 37:04Speaker 1: performs his own song. It's called He Pended Himself. It's
- 37:07Speaker 1: called Santa's Night.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Did you.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Because it's not a goof This is not an Adam
- 37:12Speaker 1: Sandler doing like goofy tunes. This is like actual Christmas carols.
- 37:16Speaker 1: And the guy's voices sound wonderful. And I saw the
- 37:18Speaker 1: Jordan Davis clip. He sounds like, yeah, you know, it's beautiful,
- 37:22Speaker 1: like it's Sunday choir. Did you know these guys could sing?
- 37:25Speaker 1: How did it come about?
- 37:26Speaker 3: I knew.
- 37:27Speaker 4: I knew Jason could sing. I knew Jason, you know.
- 37:32Speaker 4: I just I didn't know he would write a song.
- 37:34Speaker 4: I knew Jordan could sing because we're on the Mass singer.
- 37:36Speaker 4: I knew Lane. Lane is like a freakly talented person.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Just like in all ever. I think Alane, he's in
- 37:44Speaker 1: a cabin somewhere in Oklahoma and like that's like and
- 37:46Speaker 1: then he comes out and he can do just anything
- 37:48Speaker 1: he needs to do in that moment, like.
- 37:50Speaker 4: We were, he can like like this he can like
- 37:54Speaker 4: do an impersonation of anybody. He can like look at
- 37:57Speaker 4: someone and do this like crazy like look alike. He
- 38:00Speaker 4: just like he'll pull things from movies from fifteen years ago.
- 38:04Speaker 4: So like that sort of genius. But I knew, I
- 38:08Speaker 4: knew they all could sing. I knew Jordan Davis could
- 38:10Speaker 4: sing just from the draft like in my role. Now
- 38:12Speaker 4: I'm involved in sort of the draft process, and like
- 38:15Speaker 4: I knew the bat music background with him, and this
- 38:17Speaker 4: year we sort of wind up to sort of open
- 38:19Speaker 4: it up and get more people involved. And it was
- 38:22Speaker 4: really cool to have him involved in And you heard
- 38:24Speaker 4: his voice, it's it's unbelievable.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Well let's stop you right there, because while we have
- 38:28Speaker 1: you on the podcast, Connor, here is Jordan Davis's version
- 38:32Speaker 1: of have yourself a merry little Christmas.
- 38:40Speaker 5: Here we are as a golden dame, happy golden dame.
- 38:48Speaker 5: Oh your.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Faith friends who are near to us, never near to us,
- 39:01Speaker 1: once small through the years, we all woll to get.
- 39:13Speaker 3: If the face.
- 39:20Speaker 5: Shine and feel self a very little Christmases.
- 39:44Speaker 1: I see Jordan Davis three hundred and forty pounds player,
- 39:46Speaker 1: How did you know he had that voice?
- 39:49Speaker 4: Just interviewing them and reading up on them and the
- 39:51Speaker 4: whole process.
- 39:52Speaker 3: I mean, we get to.
- 39:53Speaker 4: Know you know, these guys really really well, and I think,
- 39:57Speaker 4: you know, organizationally not to get in my role too much,
- 40:01Speaker 4: but we believe the football season is long and hard.
- 40:06Speaker 4: We want to embrace these guys other interests, right, because
- 40:12Speaker 4: think of like the great athletes you've been around, they
- 40:15Speaker 4: usually have something else that they're interested in. You know,
- 40:19Speaker 4: obviously sports is the main thing, but they have something
- 40:22Speaker 4: some sort of creative outlet or you know, s an
- 40:26Speaker 4: outlet from football that they go to and sort of
- 40:29Speaker 4: brings them joy and confidence. And so we try to
- 40:33Speaker 4: you know, encourage the guys to lean in on that
- 40:35Speaker 4: a little bit. And like getting Jordan to lead in
- 40:37Speaker 4: on is sort of you know, what he likes to
- 40:39Speaker 4: do around music.
- 40:41Speaker 3: In this way with this record was a really really
- 40:43Speaker 3: good opportunity.
- 40:45Speaker 1: What is the role you do now because you go
- 40:47Speaker 1: from as system to the general manager to more of
- 40:49Speaker 1: a I must think of it. And there's so many
- 40:52Speaker 1: great guys in your role around the league. But it's
- 40:56Speaker 1: not like a camp counselor of sorts. But you're the
- 40:58Speaker 1: mentor in the building who I played the game, but
- 41:01Speaker 1: I can also be you know, this your sounding board,
- 41:05Speaker 1: and I'm also still deployed by the team. It's kind
- 41:07Speaker 1: of this weird bridge, right.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Well, so you're thinking I'm in a player engagement role
- 41:12Speaker 4: with different role, but but I work hand in hand
- 41:15Speaker 4: with player engagement and those people in those roles are awesome.
- 41:18Speaker 3: They do exactly what you do.
- 41:20Speaker 4: But you what you said, I you know, I'm a player,
- 41:23Speaker 4: a deveoloument, which is something how we started six.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Or so, So what is player development? Because I don't
- 41:27Speaker 1: even know that title.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like a secret in Philadelphia. Yeah, so I
- 41:33Speaker 4: can't give you all the deed, I can't give you
- 41:35Speaker 4: everything we do.
- 41:36Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean we're.
- 41:40Speaker 4: I'm focused my focus in collaboration with the coaches, the
- 41:45Speaker 4: performance staff, how he everyone is I would say, sort
- 41:49Speaker 4: of the bottom part of our roster. Whereas if you look,
- 41:53Speaker 4: you know, in the NFL, everybody is so focused.
- 41:58Speaker 3: On the guys that are playing.
- 42:01Speaker 4: And we are here obviously of course, but sort of
- 42:05Speaker 4: me and a group of people, well, we're sort of
- 42:08Speaker 4: trying to sort of build a little bit from the
- 42:10Speaker 4: bottom up and make sure those guys that aren't playing
- 42:13Speaker 4: are getting the same attention. Coaching feedback support that we give,
- 42:17Speaker 4: you know, the forty five guys that are playing on Sunday,
- 42:19Speaker 4: so you know when they're ready, when their opportunity comes,
- 42:23Speaker 4: you know they're ready to step in and play and
- 42:25Speaker 4: take advantage of the opportunity.
- 42:27Speaker 1: You've been there since twenty twenty, so you were there
- 42:30Speaker 1: for the entire Jalen Hurts rise to start them. You're
- 42:33Speaker 1: there every day with him. He doesn't give much to
- 42:36Speaker 1: the media. He doesn't really do the look at me,
- 42:38Speaker 1: look at me, Instagram Live, Facebook live, all that stuff.
- 42:41Speaker 1: What kind of guy is Jalen Hurts And what have
- 42:43Speaker 1: you seen as far as leadership qualities go.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Well, Jalen's obviously awesome.
- 42:47Speaker 4: I think Jalen is a perfect example of what we
- 42:51Speaker 4: try to do, what you want everybody to do, you know,
- 42:56Speaker 4: and that's sort of understanding sort of small gradual improvements.
- 43:02Speaker 4: People ask me about Jalen, I say, it's just like
- 43:05Speaker 4: he is an example of compound interest. Like I was
- 43:10Speaker 4: here with him for two years and the guy and
- 43:13Speaker 4: nothing me. I mean, he just had it, like he
- 43:15Speaker 4: was just so focused that every week he got a
- 43:19Speaker 4: little bit better.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Every month, every month he's been here, he's.
- 43:22Speaker 4: Got a little bit better and sort of you saw
- 43:24Speaker 4: last year it just sort of it was going, it
- 43:26Speaker 4: was going, and then it went like this, and like
- 43:28Speaker 4: that's what happens if you can sort of have sort
- 43:31Speaker 4: of this short term focus. I'm getting just a little
- 43:34Speaker 4: bit better every day every week while having sort of
- 43:37Speaker 4: a long term vision of where you want to go
- 43:40Speaker 4: and stick to it. You know, anybody you know can
- 43:43Speaker 4: really it'll pay off after, you know, after some time.
- 43:47Speaker 3: And he's a great example of that.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Last year you guys went to the Super Bowl, you
- 43:51Speaker 1: come up just short. This year you start off red hot.
- 43:54Speaker 1: We're recording this after the San Francisco game. What makes
- 43:56Speaker 1: this team different from last year's team, because I know
- 43:59Speaker 1: everyone just looks at it and it's like, oh, well
- 44:01Speaker 1: the Eagles, same squad. But every team we know in
- 44:03Speaker 1: every locker room is different year to year. What is
- 44:06Speaker 1: kind of the defining quality of this year's Well.
- 44:08Speaker 4: I think we're just getting into it, you know what
- 44:10Speaker 4: I mean, I think you said it, and there's a
- 44:13Speaker 4: lot of different players, different people. I mean, the cores,
- 44:16Speaker 4: the core is still here, but I mean this is
- 44:19Speaker 4: the part of the season when you when you find
- 44:21Speaker 4: out so you know, best record in football right now.
- 44:26Speaker 4: But now now it's like, you know, the season starts here,
- 44:29Speaker 4: so we're excited. We got Dallas this weekend.
- 44:32Speaker 1: One more question about the album before we let you go.
- 44:37Speaker 1: The first album included a dramatic reciting of a Night
- 44:42Speaker 1: before Christmas by Meryl Reese, who's the voice, who is
- 44:46Speaker 1: the voice of the Raid of the Eagles. And then
- 44:48Speaker 1: he had Zach Miller of Doctor Dog on piano and
- 44:52Speaker 1: that came out last year. This year the twenty twenty
- 44:56Speaker 1: three album, and like, the timing couldn't be more I
- 44:58Speaker 1: would almost say eerie Jason and Travis Kelcey covering The
- 45:03Speaker 1: Pogue's fairy Tale of New York. Of course, the Pogues
- 45:06Speaker 1: leads singer, Shane McGowan just passed away last week. Kind
- 45:10Speaker 1: of eerie, almost poetic, and yet we've got Jason and
- 45:13Speaker 1: Travis singing a poge song on an album that's coming
- 45:16Speaker 1: out the same week that the lead singer just passed away.
- 45:18Speaker 4: It was eerie, and you know, it was really it
- 45:25Speaker 4: was really nice that Shane.
- 45:27Speaker 3: This was crazy in here.
- 45:29Speaker 4: His last public tweet was about the cup you know,
- 45:34Speaker 4: which the rewrite that Shane and Kelsey or Kelsey Jason
- 45:38Speaker 4: and Travis did about a sort of iconic Christmas song
- 45:42Speaker 4: and him sort of like supporting it, which was so cool.
- 45:47Speaker 4: The song is it's like on top of a bunch
- 45:50Speaker 4: of different charts right now.
- 45:51Speaker 3: People are loving it.
- 45:53Speaker 4: So yeah, it was it was really cool to get
- 45:55Speaker 4: his approval on that and then.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Sort of hear that he liked it before he passed.
- 46:01Speaker 4: But I think obviously Shane's a legend, and so to
- 46:04Speaker 4: get that from him was incredible. And then I have
- 46:06Speaker 4: to say a you know, on the record, there's uh,
- 46:10Speaker 4: you know, we have the Dradel song coming out.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Talk about it, We talk about it. I think it's
- 46:14Speaker 1: important from my from my fellow Jewish listeners.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Howie Roseman is on the song.
- 46:19Speaker 1: And this is Dredl Dreidl dred It's the.
- 46:22Speaker 3: Best music you've ever heard of the Dradel song.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Who performed it?
- 46:27Speaker 3: I mean, there's too many musicians to name it.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Really, it's just like a live aid thing, Like everyone
- 46:32Speaker 1: got together and performed on this.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Every song is like live Aid. There's a whole band
- 46:35Speaker 3: for every song. But yeah, the Dreidl is like is Jason,
- 46:40Speaker 3: Jordan Lane and Howie doing gang.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Vocals on the whole thing, get out of here. You
- 46:44Speaker 1: could hear how he's voice, and then we have.
- 46:48Speaker 3: Little Dicky does a little intro. It comes out Dave Bird.
- 46:52Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, it comes out on Thursday or Wednesday night,
- 46:55Speaker 4: first night of Hanaka. I believe it was Thursday night,
- 46:58Speaker 4: Happy earl Hanukah and uh so that's a highlight coming up.
- 47:02Speaker 1: So it is a little Dickie rapping on it.
- 47:04Speaker 4: He just does like an intro, but he does full intro.
- 47:08Speaker 4: If you want to hear the full intro, you gotta
- 47:10Speaker 4: buy the vinyl. There's a longer.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Extended because I saw on Spotify the song is out.
- 47:14Speaker 1: It's like a little snippet of it, but I couldn't
- 47:16Speaker 1: hear how he's voice on it. I got to download
- 47:17Speaker 1: the whole big or buy the whole album.
- 47:18Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, you got to buy the vinyl so you
- 47:20Speaker 4: hear the whole thing, or this the little pick. He'll
- 47:23Speaker 4: be a little bit on the digital release on Hanikah.
- 47:26Speaker 4: So that's a cool part. The Santa's Night thing. Everybody,
- 47:29Speaker 4: it's unbelievable.
- 47:31Speaker 1: So he pens he pins a Christmas Carol.
- 47:33Speaker 4: I mean, guy, like the season ends right and it's
- 47:36Speaker 4: like cold and philler low siuper Bowl and he tells
- 47:39Speaker 4: the story and he's sitting there with his youngest and
- 47:42Speaker 4: he can't get her to stop crying. And then he
- 47:44Speaker 4: starts thinking about Sannah, like, man, what suck to be
- 47:48Speaker 4: Santa on Christmas Night? Like I gotta deliver a presence
- 47:52Speaker 4: to everybody in one night, Like that's gotta be That's
- 47:54Speaker 4: no fun. And so he writes this song about how
- 47:58Speaker 4: it is to be Santa on Christmas Night, but but
- 48:02Speaker 4: correlates it to like being a football player and a
- 48:05Speaker 4: parent and saying it's all worth it in the end
- 48:08Speaker 4: because of the joy.
- 48:09Speaker 1: It's like this, it's beautiful, and it is beautiful about
- 48:13Speaker 1: the sacrifice that you guys make, you know, not only
- 48:16Speaker 1: in your careers, but like at the house and not
- 48:18Speaker 1: being around for a lot of key moments. And I'm
- 48:20Speaker 1: sure you've missed a million key moments, but you're doing
- 48:23Speaker 1: it for the greater cause.
- 48:24Speaker 3: Yeah, And he just for me.
- 48:26Speaker 4: It was probably in I don't know, may I'm in
- 48:29Speaker 4: the locker room in the summer. He's here working out
- 48:31Speaker 4: in the morning. He's like, hey, Connor, I wrote a poem,
- 48:34Speaker 4: like maybe maybe it's a.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Song, but probably not. And I'm like, all right, well,
- 48:39Speaker 3: let me, let me, let me hear it.
- 48:40Speaker 4: And he's literally it's just me and him sit in
- 48:42Speaker 4: the locker room and he's like hitting up a box
- 48:45Speaker 4: like to give it like the melody, and he and
- 48:48Speaker 4: he just sort of says it and sings it, and
- 48:50Speaker 4: I'm and.
- 48:51Speaker 3: I was like, are you kidding me? Dude?
- 48:54Speaker 1: You just it was beautiful.
- 48:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I knew right away. I was like, did you
- 48:58Speaker 3: just wrote like a beautiful Christmas song? I don't know
- 49:00Speaker 3: how you did it, but that's amazing. So people can
- 49:04Speaker 3: hear it now. Santa's Night, Sam.
- 49:06Speaker 1: This Night written and performed by Jason Kelsey.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Yep. Yeah, very cool.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Connor, before we let you go, tell us more about Vera,
- 49:14Speaker 1: Why record label, and the production work that you're doing,
- 49:17Speaker 1: because I feel like this is just the start.
- 49:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's sort of again, you know, I don't
- 49:22Speaker 4: really know what I'm doing, just trying to figure it out.
- 49:25Speaker 1: That's very humble when you've got the Wharton NBA, You've
- 49:28Speaker 1: got two hit albums like you did it all right?
- 49:30Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I just I know that I got a
- 49:32Speaker 3: lot to learn.
- 49:33Speaker 4: But yeah, so so you know, we had to own
- 49:36Speaker 4: the the you had to have a company, and so
- 49:40Speaker 4: we started a company, me and Kelsey Vera is my
- 49:42Speaker 4: daughter's name, Kelsey's first daughter's.
- 49:44Speaker 3: Name, Wyatt so Vera.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Why that's awesome.
- 49:47Speaker 4: But yeah, we're working on this record, We're working on
- 49:51Speaker 4: a show, We're working on a movie. So there's there's
- 49:53Speaker 4: there's a lot sort of in the pipeline right now
- 49:54Speaker 4: that I'm really excited about. We'll talk about it off
- 49:57Speaker 4: off air because you've may.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Be able to h I definitely can help guys, everyone
- 50:02Speaker 1: who wants to get this A Philly Special Christmas Special
- 50:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty three. The Philly Special Christmas Team last year
- 50:10Speaker 1: raised one point two five million dollars for local Philadelphia charities. Connor,
- 50:16Speaker 1: I think it's awesome work. But I also think you're
- 50:19Speaker 1: an awesome guy and a great representative of the NFL
- 50:21Speaker 1: and for the holidays, of course, but the fact that
- 50:25Speaker 1: you're always working and trying to expand things and give
- 50:27Speaker 1: players a bigger opportunity to show their talents and be
- 50:31Speaker 1: able to provide for charities is just cool stuff.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Peter.
- 50:34Speaker 4: I appreciate that you do an awesome job, and you know,
- 50:37Speaker 4: I think you sort of hit it like that's for me.
- 50:39Speaker 3: I think I've been my whole ten years I played.
- 50:42Speaker 4: I just appreciated how awesome the people in the NFL are.
- 50:48Speaker 4: And you know, Jason has been one person I worked
- 50:50Speaker 4: with a lot, but it's it's laying to it's Jordan's,
- 50:53Speaker 4: it's other people and just trying to help them sort
- 50:56Speaker 4: of like do sort of the creative things they have
- 50:59Speaker 4: in their mind, like bring them to fruition. So it's
- 51:03Speaker 4: been it's been fun for.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Me to try to do that.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Let's sell a lot of these albums, let's help charities.
- 51:08Speaker 1: And I look it, I'm as I'm not biased here,
- 51:12Speaker 1: but if the Drader song becomes the hottest single in
- 51:14Speaker 1: the country, I'm not gonna be angry about this.
- 51:17Speaker 3: It's good. Listen. I did a lot of research listening
- 51:20Speaker 3: to a lot of Drado songs. Yeah, not a lot
- 51:23Speaker 3: of great trail songs sort of like this you call
- 51:26Speaker 3: it in a little bit for kids.
- 51:28Speaker 4: This one, Like the music is just like sort of
- 51:30Speaker 4: Bo Diddley sort of thing here that we got going
- 51:32Speaker 4: on is fun, like you want to dance when you
- 51:34Speaker 4: hear it?
- 51:35Speaker 3: Like it? It is awesome.
- 51:37Speaker 1: I can't wait, all right, Connor Barrowing, thanks for joining
- 51:39Speaker 1: the podcast. Man, This is awesome. Thanks peer, Connor Barwin
- 51:49Speaker 1: was great. Aaron, You've got a musical background. That's pretty cool.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I also have a behavioral econ background. And so
- 51:57Speaker 2: him talking about like price anchoring and all that, I
- 52:00Speaker 2: get off on all of that.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I love that.
- 52:02Speaker 2: That is, as soon as he said anchoring, I was like,
- 52:04Speaker 2: all right, I'm in on this. He's a Wharton grad.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Yeah, we got it. He talks about the professor and
- 52:10Speaker 1: her name is obviously Annie Wilson. We find out everyards.
- 52:12Speaker 1: I'm like, oh Andy Wilson, Like no, no, no, Annie Wilson.
- 52:16Speaker 1: But like he kind of buried that in the day
- 52:17Speaker 1: that like, oh, I went to Wharton and got it.
- 52:19Speaker 1: I mean for the listeners if you don't know, it's
- 52:21Speaker 1: the number one business school in the world. And I'm
- 52:23Speaker 1: sure he've roben elbows with hedge fund managers and people
- 52:26Speaker 1: who are running Spotify or whatever else. So I like diverse, interesting,
- 52:33Speaker 1: curious guests. And I think Connor's story is so unique
- 52:38Speaker 1: and is different, and the fact that he's now still
- 52:41Speaker 1: with the Eagles, and this, what I would say, is
- 52:43Speaker 1: almost sounds like a shady job, like he didn't want
- 52:45Speaker 1: to explain what he does.
- 52:46Speaker 2: He was very coy.
- 52:48Speaker 1: He's like, it's just similar.
- 52:50Speaker 2: I can't talk about it.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Take all that, take all that, you know, fight club
- 52:54Speaker 1: somewhere else. We're on the podcast talking about your Christmas album. Dude,
- 52:58Speaker 1: I really like Connor and I've gotten to know him
- 53:00Speaker 1: a little bit, and obviously we hope that the album
- 53:02Speaker 1: sells well. That's that. This is delivering results presented by
- 53:08Speaker 1: Uber eats. It's time for delivering results where we give
- 53:10Speaker 1: it to the best player of the week. I'm gonna
- 53:12Speaker 1: give it to Deebo Samuel. Deebo Samuel had three touchdowns.
- 53:15Speaker 1: He had two of them, receiving one of them rushing.
- 53:17Speaker 1: He also talked a bunch of smack leading up to
- 53:19Speaker 1: the game and then backed it up and was the
- 53:21Speaker 1: best player on the field. He got my game Ball
- 53:23Speaker 1: on Good Morning Football. And he's also getting this award here.
- 53:26Speaker 1: When you talk about that game and all the build
- 53:28Speaker 1: up and all the chatter, like for Debo to come
- 53:30Speaker 1: out there and be as tough as he was and
- 53:32Speaker 1: to be as strong as he was and to back
- 53:35Speaker 1: up every last second of it, that's pretty impressive. That
- 53:38Speaker 1: was the delivering results presented by uber Eats. We can
- 53:41Speaker 1: get almost almost Anything, the official on demand delivery partner
