- 0:17Speaker 2: to make.
- 0:17Speaker 1: You rich in life.
- 0:20Speaker 2: And welcome back to another doozy, another wonderful whoosh day
- 0:24Speaker 2: Morning Wow. If you're listening Glorious Morning, the orse morning.
- 0:28Speaker 3: If you're around number one fan and you listen at
- 0:30Speaker 3: six am when this drops, there.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Are there are a lot of people that listen to
- 0:34Speaker 2: this at six am early birds. Yeah, I love it
- 0:36Speaker 2: on the work commute and the hot girl walkie in
- 0:39Speaker 2: the morning.
- 0:40Speaker 1: This is you and I'm in your ear holes right now. Hi,
- 0:44Speaker 1: how are you? Do you hear that?
- 0:46Speaker 4: It's me? It's worry, It's just me, but hey.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It's you. But hey, it's you.
- 0:52Speaker 2: And today we are sharing the four types of hobbies
- 0:55Speaker 2: you need.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Love a fucking hobby, love a habit, love hobby.
- 1:00Speaker 2: We do, but before we get into it, we always
- 1:03Speaker 2: share our obsession of the week.
- 1:05Speaker 1: So Dowly Bailey, love of my life and best friend
- 1:07Speaker 1: forever big bong. But your butt looks great today, by
- 1:14Speaker 1: the way.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Well, what a sigiwy because my obsession this week is
- 1:19Speaker 2: a new hair product from People Hair and it's their
- 1:23Speaker 2: slick Styler, which is only sixteen dollars slig Yeah, you
- 1:28Speaker 2: can get it from Coal's how fabulous. I love a
- 1:33Speaker 2: good like beauty buy that you can just get from
- 1:35Speaker 2: a grocery store or a drug store.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Yeah, me too. But it's a really good slick styler.
- 1:40Speaker 3: So if you're a slickbun girlie, definitely grab one because
- 1:44Speaker 3: helps tame the flyways.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Who isn't a slickbun girly, that's my question.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I saw it being recently saying that slick buns are
- 1:52Speaker 2: out and like the messy pool back bun yeah is in.
- 1:57Speaker 2: So it's like more of like the tussled Like, Yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 2: I've been trying to rock that a little bit more,
- 2:02Speaker 2: but even that takes like a level of styling, and
- 2:05Speaker 2: today I just didn't have time. Just there's just something
- 2:08Speaker 2: about the slickback style that makes.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Me feel like I've.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Got it together.
- 2:13Speaker 1: M Like it's gonna be okay. Yeah, I agree.
- 2:17Speaker 4: All right, what are you obsessed with?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Okay, I've got two obsessions. Okay.
- 2:21Speaker 2: One, I saw an article that says winged eyeliner is
- 2:25Speaker 2: now the skinny gene for gen Z.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I've got a winged.
- 2:30Speaker 1: We're both wearing wind.
- 2:32Speaker 4: I've seen that too, that it's like another millennial ick.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I'm sick of this shit, I know.
- 2:39Speaker 4: And you're on the cusp too, You're still copying a.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Beaten I lose either way you do. I'm struggling on
- 2:47Speaker 2: the inside here.
- 2:48Speaker 5: And then my other obsession is this Saturday, we have
- 2:54Speaker 5: our very first live show, and I'm bricking in the
- 2:59Speaker 5: best way and the worst way.
- 3:03Speaker 1: And I'm shooting myself.
- 3:06Speaker 3: If that doesn't want to make you guys buy tickets,
- 3:08Speaker 3: I don't know what will.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I'm bricked, guess way, but it's it's But my main
- 3:16Speaker 2: obsession is we have created the most bang for your
- 3:22Speaker 2: buck show that I think has ever existed.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Asterisks the no promises made by two brooksticks.
- 3:29Speaker 2: But our goodie bags are legit the best goodie bags
- 3:33Speaker 2: that I think have ever existed in a live show.
- 3:36Speaker 2: The first five hundred tickets that have sold are getting
- 3:39Speaker 2: a goodie bag that's worth like four hundred dollars, and
- 3:42Speaker 2: the tickets are forty dollars to sixty.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Dollars, and then everyone else gets a goodie bag that's
- 3:47Speaker 1: worth two hundred dollars.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and we're giving away over five thousand dollars in
- 3:52Speaker 2: the show.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Yeah, there's so many giveaways.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Literally, if you don't have tickets, it's actually a bad investment.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Not too Yeah, it's true, Like we really wanted because
- 4:04Speaker 2: we know we're in Cozi Lives and people don't really
- 4:07Speaker 2: have the money to just be putting towards the arts
- 4:10Speaker 2: for just a show, as much as I wish we did,
- 4:14Speaker 2: but we wanted to make sure people were going home
- 4:16Speaker 2: with more than what they spent.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And I am just.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So so so happy that we've achieved that. And the
- 4:22Speaker 2: brands have been so generous with what they're putting in
- 4:25Speaker 2: because I just am so excited for people to get them.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and there's so many incredible products in these goodie bags.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Yeah, new chicks are going to love them. It's so good.
- 4:35Speaker 2: There's makeup, there's skincare, there's haircare, there's wine, there's sex toys.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Like, what else do you want?
- 4:43Speaker 4: Honestly, I want one and a good.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Night out with the cheek and a good night out
- 4:47Speaker 2: with the chicks.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'm like, don't even come to see us. Get your
- 4:50Speaker 1: goodie bag.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I'm getting kidding, getting kittingreat No, it's actually going to
- 4:53Speaker 2: be so fun.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I can't fucking wait.
- 4:56Speaker 2: And yeah, yeah, we'll put a link to buy tickets
- 4:59Speaker 2: in the description.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Yes, but they're selling fars.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yes, they're not sold out by the time this episode
- 5:04Speaker 2: goes live, but we'll see there's only about one hundred
- 5:07Speaker 2: tickets left. So get in, like basically as soon as
- 5:11Speaker 2: you listen to this, if there's any left, and we
- 5:13Speaker 2: will see you there. This is going to be our
- 5:15Speaker 2: only live show for twenty twenty four. We might do
- 5:17Speaker 2: some of the future, we might not, So get in,
- 5:20Speaker 2: get in.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Be quick, get your tickets while they're hated.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, let's get into the episode. Chikjobs.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Four hobbies that you need starting with your first one
- 5:34Speaker 2: is one to fuel and feel your body. It is
- 5:39Speaker 2: vital to prioritize both your mental and physical health. The
- 5:44Speaker 2: most important thing, though, is finding something that you enjoy,
- 5:47Speaker 2: like this shouldn't feel like a chore, but something like
- 5:50Speaker 2: that makes you feel good and saying this as well
- 5:53Speaker 2: as two people that are not like the fitness wellness girlies. Yeah,
- 5:58Speaker 2: I do think this year is the first year. Actually,
- 6:01Speaker 2: you were really good with it last year, I wasn't
- 6:03Speaker 2: necessarily very good. You've always been good with it. I'm
- 6:06Speaker 2: just I'm just what's the word where you put your insecurities.
- 6:11Speaker 1: On other projecting, projecting that old chestnut. Well, this year
- 6:17Speaker 1: is the first year that.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I feel like I've actually been consistent with a habit
- 6:22Speaker 2: that fuels my body and feels my body. And I've
- 6:26Speaker 2: never felt more kind of in tune with my body
- 6:30Speaker 2: as being a vessel and something that works for me
- 6:35Speaker 2: rather than something that is to be looked at.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Then I have this year.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And there was a recent study that showed an MRI
- 6:42Speaker 2: of a brain before and after a twenty minute walk
- 6:45Speaker 2: on a group of children, and the results showed that
- 6:48Speaker 2: those who had walked had significantly more cognitive performance. And
- 6:53Speaker 2: this is the thing that gets you into the hobby
- 6:58Speaker 2: because I was saying to you, how at the start
- 7:00Speaker 2: of this year, like I couldn't run, Like for a minute,
- 7:03Speaker 2: I was like, also, I reckon, if you go back
- 7:06Speaker 2: two years I was slagging off running, Yeah, you would
- 7:10Speaker 2: have been like, I will just never run, which if
- 7:13Speaker 2: you don't want to, I.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Would be like, what's the point of running?
- 7:15Speaker 2: I was like, it's backing, boring, No, no, no, when I
- 7:18Speaker 2: was in little athletics, I don't know if.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I've told you this story. I don't know when I
- 7:22Speaker 1: was in little athletics. I think this was maybe like
- 7:25Speaker 1: my third week. So I was bored. I was like, oh,
- 7:28Speaker 1: the dopamine is worn off. Boring.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think I was doing the eight hundred
- 7:32Speaker 2: meters and I rounded the corner or maybe the four
- 7:34Speaker 2: hundred meters.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I was doing the circle and there was only one lap.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Anyway, I'm coming around the final bend. My mom's
- 7:40Speaker 2: there being like, go Alex. I walked off, yeah, and
- 7:45Speaker 2: then went, Alex, what are you doing?
- 7:47Speaker 1: I said, why are we running? Like five?
- 7:52Speaker 4: Why are we running?
- 7:54Speaker 2: Question? What what am I running to? What am I
- 7:57Speaker 2: running from? And from that day forward resented running.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I like.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Competitive sports because I'm competitive, so I would enjoy that.
- 8:06Speaker 1: But I've never been a runner, never been a track star.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Anyway, this year, I'm obsessed and I ran my first
- 8:13Speaker 2: four kilometers two days ago.
- 8:16Speaker 4: So proud.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And do you want to know how I did it?
- 8:17Speaker 1: I've already told you. I'll tell you.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Chicks released Me by Agnes came out as my final song,
- 8:23Speaker 2: and I was running next to this like really fit,
- 8:25Speaker 2: like footy play next me on the treadmill and I said,
- 8:29Speaker 2: it's fucking on and heye won. But like it just
- 8:34Speaker 2: having this hobby, whatever it is, whatever it looks like
- 8:37Speaker 2: for you, because you know, we've tried basically everything under
- 8:39Speaker 2: the sun, and it is about finding the thing that
- 8:41Speaker 2: sticks and that you enjoy. But it's not the actual
- 8:46Speaker 2: I don't know, it's how you feel after it. It's
- 8:48Speaker 2: how the hobby makes you feel after it. And I
- 8:51Speaker 2: feel like finding that thing that makes you like, makes
- 8:55Speaker 2: your body feel like a vessel rather than something to
- 8:58Speaker 2: be looked at, is always going to fuel you in
- 9:01Speaker 2: all areas of your life. Yeah, well, because the alternative
- 9:04Speaker 2: is so not motivating, or at least it's not motivating
- 9:07Speaker 2: in like a healthy and sustainable way. If you want
- 9:11Speaker 2: to go to pilates and that's the movement that you
- 9:14Speaker 2: get that feeling afterwards, that you get that dopamine hit,
- 9:17Speaker 2: that's great.
- 9:17Speaker 4: If it's a hot girl walk, fabulous.
- 9:19Speaker 2: If it's a dance class, if it's a YouTube high
- 9:23Speaker 2: school musical dance class routine.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 4: The one direction one.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Is have we done one of those together?
- 9:29Speaker 2: We did?
- 9:30Speaker 3: Think in lockdown, I think, but not together, like not
- 9:33Speaker 3: together in the same room, but we definitely did them
- 9:35Speaker 3: in lockdown.
- 9:36Speaker 1: We should do one together.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Yeah, they're really At first, you feel really stupid, they're hard.
- 9:41Speaker 2: You feel really silly when you're doing these like dance
- 9:44Speaker 2: workouts on YouTube.
- 9:45Speaker 1: By the end of it, it's so much fine.
- 9:48Speaker 4: They're the best and they're a real workout. They're challenging.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Yeah, what's your hobby that you do. Mine would be
- 9:54Speaker 2: going to the gym, and I like it because it's
- 9:57Speaker 2: an excuse not to touch my fie.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Oh and look at my phone Asterix.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Currently, I'm doing a program on the kickapp, which I love.
- 10:06Speaker 3: So my phone's present and I am looking at a
- 10:09Speaker 3: screen to follow the instructions. But you know, I'm not
- 10:11Speaker 3: getting distracted.
- 10:12Speaker 4: I'm listening to music and it's a really good opportunity
- 10:15Speaker 4: to switch off.
- 10:17Speaker 3: And I really like going late at night because I
- 10:19Speaker 3: feel like it helps me switch off before I go
- 10:21Speaker 3: to bed.
- 10:22Speaker 1: That's what I've always.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Been a morning person, and I've definitely transitioned to an
- 10:26Speaker 2: eve R though.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's like looking at it as that for me,
- 10:31Speaker 2: like it's a good way to put a full stop
- 10:33Speaker 2: on the day. Close the laptop finish work and go
- 10:37Speaker 2: do that. I don't have to talk to anybody, I
- 10:39Speaker 2: don't have to think about anything.
- 10:40Speaker 4: I can just do that, listen to some tunes.
- 10:43Speaker 2: And I do really like using the kickapp or some
- 10:45Speaker 2: sort of like workout program so.
- 10:48Speaker 4: That somebody can basically tell me what to do.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Do you feel your mood change like when you're
- 10:51Speaker 1: on the way home from the.
- 10:53Speaker 4: One thousand percent?
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm always like walking out like thinking I'm in
- 10:58Speaker 2: a film clear, yes, sinking for my life, yeah, legit.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Like I don't ever think, oh, yeah, I'm excited to
- 11:05Speaker 2: go to the gym.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I want to go to the gym. I think I
- 11:08Speaker 1: know what.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I'm going to feel like when I have dinner and
- 11:11Speaker 2: I sit down to watch TV if I do go,
- 11:13Speaker 2: whereas if I don't, I feel like a little stale
- 11:15Speaker 2: piece of bread. Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 4: It always makes me so ready for bed too.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Ye. And I'm like, I've never really been these girlies,
- 11:21Speaker 2: but look at us now me.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Your next hobby that you need is one.
- 11:27Speaker 2: To let you be creative. I think this is my
- 11:31Speaker 2: favorite one, or it's up there.
- 11:33Speaker 1: It's up there.
- 11:34Speaker 2: But I just think there's so much pressure to have
- 11:38Speaker 2: like results as an adult to have like your income
- 11:42Speaker 2: or buy a house, or get married and have kids
- 11:45Speaker 2: by a certain age of these like made up rules
- 11:48Speaker 2: that society gave us that we measure ourselves against. It's
- 11:51Speaker 2: like we have okayrs for life, right, But for me
- 11:55Speaker 2: this hobby, the word creative could be swapped out for
- 11:59Speaker 2: the word place. I agree, And I just think we
- 12:04Speaker 2: could play a lot more. And I've recently been speaking
- 12:09Speaker 2: with someone and the amount of times the word play
- 12:15Speaker 2: comes up that I just want to play, I just
- 12:17Speaker 2: want to have fun.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I I just want to play, And they think we
- 12:24Speaker 1: don't make enough time for this.
- 12:26Speaker 2: You don't make enough time to play and have fun
- 12:29Speaker 2: and giggle and be silly and be creative because we're
- 12:32Speaker 2: too focused on these stupid fucking okayrs that someone set
- 12:36Speaker 2: who we are. Also, that's someone like we're also setting
- 12:39Speaker 2: these okayrs in our minds and then failing because we
- 12:42Speaker 2: don't want to do them, but then we're upset that
- 12:44Speaker 2: we didn't do them.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Yeah, And the reason why this.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Needs to be a hobby is because play can also
- 12:51Speaker 2: improve our memory and stimulates the growth of the cerebral cortex.
- 12:55Speaker 1: To get all science y on youtigis.
- 12:58Speaker 2: And researchers cats playful adults into four types.
- 13:03Speaker 4: I love this shit. How do we play?
- 13:05Speaker 1: So there's four types of adults that play.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Those who outwardly enjoy fooling around with friends, colleagues, relatives,
- 13:12Speaker 2: and acquaintances.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Falling around.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Eh, she's playing right now.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Those who are generally lighthearted and not preoccupied by the
- 13:22Speaker 2: future consequences of their.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Behavior must be nice.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Those who play with thoughts and ideas, and those who
- 13:29Speaker 2: play with themselves.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I'm kidding.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I thought you were going to say something else, but
- 13:38Speaker 2: there was a full start. Those who are whimsical exhibit
- 13:46Speaker 2: interest in strange and unusual things, and are amused by small,
- 13:49Speaker 2: everyday observations.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Hello, that's cute.
- 13:53Speaker 2: In the fourth category, I reckon, I reckon or like
- 13:58Speaker 2: those who play with thoughts and ideas, but we also
- 14:01Speaker 2: love giggling and his friends. I have them accept the
- 14:04Speaker 2: one one that doesn't care about the future. But among
- 14:09Speaker 2: like its many benefits, adult play can boost your creativity,
- 14:13Speaker 2: sharpen your sense of humor, and help you cope better
- 14:16Speaker 2: with stress. So if you can't think of something that's
- 14:21Speaker 2: that hobby right now, I really want you to prioritize
- 14:25Speaker 2: that this week. If you can't think of something where
- 14:28Speaker 2: you've played this week, and it might not necessarily be
- 14:31Speaker 2: a consistent hobby that you do every week.
- 14:35Speaker 4: It is good if you.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Can find something like that.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Our friend Jem, she goes to pottery every Tuesday.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And maybe it's.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Reading your book and then talking about it, like starting
- 14:45Speaker 2: a book club with your friends and or just one
- 14:47Speaker 2: friend and talking about that book together and like giggling
- 14:50Speaker 2: and kicking your feet about his quivering member.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, even like filling out your good reads. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 3: and like having a little creative writing.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Exercise about the book that you've read.
- 15:00Speaker 1: It's just it's fun to play.
- 15:02Speaker 4: It is fun to play to play. I love that.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I think an example of that for me would be
- 15:08Speaker 3: live music for sure. Yes, like that is definitely one
- 15:12Speaker 3: of my favorite and most consistent hobbies throughout my life.
- 15:16Speaker 3: And I think that is one time when that is
- 15:19Speaker 3: a time when I do feel that real childlike joy
- 15:23Speaker 3: and like reckless, abandoned and it's just so fun and
- 15:27Speaker 3: you feel so like alive.
- 15:29Speaker 4: So I love doing that.
- 15:30Speaker 3: But another thing that I would be keen to get
- 15:32Speaker 3: into maybe in the new year, is like scrap booking.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I like scrapbooking.
- 15:38Speaker 4: And yeah that's cute, or you do it like junk journaling.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Have you seen that trend? Were you just right? It's
- 15:44Speaker 4: like you just.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Stick in like anything, and you can do it for
- 15:47Speaker 3: like the months, like it doesn't have to be They
- 15:49Speaker 3: always end up looking aesthetic. But it's not so much
- 15:52Speaker 3: like scrap booking as it was traditionally thought.
- 15:55Speaker 4: I like rapples and stuff.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Into it.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Soal, hit me with our next hobby.
- 16:03Speaker 4: So the third hobby that you need is one to
- 16:07Speaker 4: manage your money. Whoah, yeah exciting.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Think this sounds boring, but it's not.
- 16:13Speaker 3: I mean, a hobby that makes you money seems like
- 16:16Speaker 3: a win win situation, and I think it can be,
- 16:19Speaker 3: especially in the current climate.
- 16:21Speaker 4: As we said, you know, we're going through a cozy lives.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Everybody is looking for more ways to make money, and
- 16:27Speaker 3: I think that if you can find avenues to make
- 16:30Speaker 3: money that are also based in passion and things that
- 16:33Speaker 3: you enjoy, that's great. Like for example, like I said,
- 16:37Speaker 3: I've always had a passion for music and live music.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Especially, and I always love writing about it. When I
- 16:43Speaker 2: was a teenager and i'd write like.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Blogs and stuff that's cool.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Yeah, Tumbler and MySpace bulletins, and then as I got older,
- 16:51Speaker 3: eventually turned that into like a side hustle doing music
- 16:55Speaker 3: journalism and interviewing artists or reviewing albums and gigs and
- 16:58Speaker 3: stuff like that, which was great and a great way
- 17:01Speaker 3: to make some money on the side. But for me,
- 17:04Speaker 3: the money was I guess, the cherry on top, and
- 17:07Speaker 3: it was more so getting the opportunity to listen to
- 17:10Speaker 3: albums before they were released, or going to a show
- 17:14Speaker 3: and having my name on the door and knowing that
- 17:16Speaker 3: I was going to review one of my favorite artists,
- 17:18Speaker 3: or getting to speak with someone who I really admired
- 17:21Speaker 3: about a piece of work that they produced, and the
- 17:25Speaker 3: money was sort of just a nice silver lining.
- 17:28Speaker 4: So I think that that is great if.
- 17:30Speaker 2: You can make money from your hobby and you want to. However,
- 17:34Speaker 2: we've also been existing in a gig economy for the
- 17:37Speaker 2: last what ten fifteen years, and I think a lot
- 17:41Speaker 2: of us feel the pressure to turn our hobbies into
- 17:44Speaker 2: side hustles. And I think that's the distinction that we
- 17:48Speaker 2: want to make here, that you don't have to make money.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Out of your hobbies. It's only if you want to.
- 17:55Speaker 3: And I think that if there's ever an instance where
- 17:57Speaker 3: you're feeling pressure from other people to make money from
- 18:02Speaker 3: your hobby, or you start doing it and then you
- 18:04Speaker 3: realize that you're not having fun with your hobby.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Bringing you joy. Yeah, and that is statistically speaking. There
- 18:11Speaker 1: are studies at show.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Once you start earning money from a hobby, you start
- 18:16Speaker 2: enjoying that hobby a little bit less.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Or a lot a bit less.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:21Speaker 3: I even found that with internships in my early twenties
- 18:24Speaker 3: and late teens.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Lets we romanticize it.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd be enjoying it so much more.
- 18:29Speaker 2: And then I actually started getting paid and I was like,
- 18:32Speaker 2: now I have to be here.
- 18:34Speaker 4: You know, it's not always the case.
- 18:36Speaker 3: So if you don't want to have a hobby that
- 18:39Speaker 3: makes you money, maybe aim to have one that helps
- 18:42Speaker 3: you manage your money instead. So this could include things
- 18:46Speaker 3: like learning to invest. We did a two part episode
- 18:50Speaker 3: on how to learn how to invest and get into investing.
- 18:54Speaker 4: We can link it in the show notes.
- 18:55Speaker 3: It's a really good start if you are a beginner
- 18:57Speaker 3: and you're interested. Also adding yourself regular money challenges like
- 19:02Speaker 3: a no spend month or maybe a goal to save
- 19:05Speaker 3: a certain amount, and you can switch these up every month.
- 19:08Speaker 3: But knowing that you have a goal on the first
- 19:11Speaker 3: day of every month to set yourself a different money
- 19:14Speaker 3: challenge could be fun.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I like that, like those money bingo cards, Yeah, they're
- 19:18Speaker 2: so fun. Or you can have a weekly money date
- 19:21Speaker 2: to manage your finances with your partner or.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Maybe with a friend.
- 19:25Speaker 2: You know, you could do it over coffee and brecky,
- 19:27Speaker 2: or like put a little charcuterie board together and might
- 19:30Speaker 2: put some tunes on. Most importantly, I think this is
- 19:32Speaker 2: a hobby that, like future you will really thank you for.
- 19:35Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I think all of these hobbies are things that future
- 19:39Speaker 2: you will thank you for. But this is really something
- 19:41Speaker 2: that's going to relieve stress in the future. When you
- 19:43Speaker 2: manage your money now, you're less stressed in the future.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I think all of these hobbies save you stress.
- 19:49Speaker 1: In the future.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but some money micro hobbies that you can build
- 19:55Speaker 2: into your routine from our chicks that sent these in
- 19:59Speaker 2: is painting your own nails. That's always a very common
- 20:02Speaker 2: hobby that we gets sent in. Eating before grocery shopping. Honestly,
- 20:07Speaker 2: like that would save me hundreds of dollars.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I don't want to admit it, but it's so it's true.
- 20:12Speaker 2: And then canceling memberships you don't use using cash.
- 20:17Speaker 1: That's a really popular one.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's very it's a lot more mindful than
- 20:22Speaker 2: a bank card.
- 20:23Speaker 1: And then only going to events that you actually want
- 20:26Speaker 1: to go to. It's gonna change your life that one. Yeah,
- 20:29Speaker 1: it's gonna blow your fucking.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Mand That's like my favorite.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I love that, Yeah, because saying that it's my favorite.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Was watching sal get like pressured into coming to a
- 20:42Speaker 2: party once by like four people, and then in front
- 20:45Speaker 2: of everyone that was going to this party that just
- 20:48Speaker 2: wanted so how to come, she goes, I just don't
- 20:50Speaker 2: fucking want.
- 20:50Speaker 1: To, and then everyone shut up.
- 20:53Speaker 2: I start pressuring her and I was just this math
- 20:56Speaker 2: wouldn't sorry. When Bush comes to shop, I have to
- 20:59Speaker 2: tell you the real reason why I don't want to
- 21:01Speaker 2: come and so fucking want to, And everyone's like, yep,
- 21:05Speaker 2: you can't really argue against that one.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Nah, it's a good one to have in the back pocket.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Honesty best policy. Maybe we should put that shit on
- 21:13Speaker 1: a ship, put that ship on a show.
- 21:15Speaker 2: You have to say it that way, but it's quite grading,
- 21:21Speaker 2: I've realized listening back to the episodes. But alas, let's
- 21:24Speaker 2: move on to our fourth and final hobby that you
- 21:28Speaker 2: need one to advance your knowledge. Smutty pants, smutty girls. Yeah,
- 21:33Speaker 2: I love being smart.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Hot girls love to learn.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Not say I'm sorry that came out wrong.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Smart.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I love getting smart.
- 21:41Speaker 3: But learning doesn't have to finish when you wrap up
- 21:45Speaker 3: UNI and high school, and I think for a lot
- 21:47Speaker 3: of people that's where the learning journey does sort of end. Obviously,
- 21:51Speaker 3: you know, we're learning life lessons all the time and
- 21:53Speaker 3: picking up new things as you go into adulthood. But
- 21:55Speaker 3: I'm talking about intentional learning and actually putting time as
- 22:00Speaker 3: to learn something that you want to.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Learn, because I think that it is more.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Rewarding perhaps than what we did experience in school or UNI,
- 22:09Speaker 3: because you actually have some autonomy you.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Had to choose. How cool is that?
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 22:15Speaker 4: And I actually saw an article by National Geographic. Maybe
- 22:18Speaker 4: they's smartiest pain.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Maybe they skewed the results because they're like, you know
- 22:22Speaker 2: how you'll do this, pick up the mag But adults
- 22:25Speaker 2: are apparently better learners because we have better self regulation.
- 22:29Speaker 4: And we're intent when we want to learn something. So
- 22:34Speaker 4: I know the saying is you.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Can't teach an old dog new tricks, but yeah, because
- 22:37Speaker 3: you're actually learning things that you want to and not
- 22:40Speaker 3: just how to play the recorder, but if you want to.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Learn how to do that, you do that, you do that,
- 22:45Speaker 1: get that hot cross bun.
- 22:48Speaker 2: And not only is it rewarding, I think when you
- 22:51Speaker 2: feel yourself learning new things and picking up new skills,
- 22:55Speaker 2: but it can also help maintain and improve our cognitive function,
- 22:59Speaker 2: which apparently usually begins to plateau after the age of
- 23:03Speaker 2: thirty or forty.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Yeah, hey, you going over there, sow. I mean, I
- 23:07Speaker 4: think the results speak for itself. It's not looking.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Good that it's time to pick up a new hobby.
- 23:14Speaker 3: But I think that you know, there's so many different
- 23:16Speaker 3: hobbies that you could try to advance your knowledge, some
- 23:20Speaker 3: of which including learn a new language on duo lingo.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Next one, pick a topic and make it your hyper fixation.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Yes I'm talking books, podcasts, documentaries, do it all and
- 23:32Speaker 3: just become obsessed and indulged in a topic and try
- 23:35Speaker 3: and learn everything that you can about it.
- 23:38Speaker 4: I'm like, why not we need to pick.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Something and you can pick whatever the fuck you want.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Like that's the best part is you know how there
- 23:46Speaker 2: was those subjects in school and you're like, eh, and
- 23:48Speaker 2: then there were the ones.
- 23:49Speaker 1: That you're like, whe Yeah, Like do like learn about
- 23:52Speaker 1: whatever you want?
- 23:53Speaker 2: If that is honestly watching makeup tutorials on YouTube, that
- 23:56Speaker 2: is still learning.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I think a lot of things we think have to
- 24:00Speaker 1: be these really.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Analytical and intelligently stereotypical things, but.
- 24:06Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be.
- 24:07Speaker 2: It can literally be watching YouTube videos of makeup tutorials
- 24:11Speaker 2: or like true crime podcasts, like it's scary, it's not
- 24:15Speaker 2: fit yeat, she's a little bit too, she's too skinned.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Yeah, she's a bit sky. Yeah, but like that's the thing.
- 24:20Speaker 2: I think when we look at something as an interest,
- 24:24Speaker 2: we devalue what it is.
- 24:26Speaker 1: But that's not the case.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely also going to museums and art galleries one
- 24:32Speaker 3: of my personal faves. Or learn a new skill like
- 24:35Speaker 3: you were saying, So that could be cooking, or photography, writing,
- 24:39Speaker 3: makeup and beauty, hair, whatever I think piques your interest.
- 24:44Speaker 3: If you could wake up tomorrow with a new skill
- 24:46Speaker 3: or hobby and be like an expert status sada, what
- 24:48Speaker 3: would you be?
- 24:49Speaker 4: What would you have?
- 24:50Speaker 2: Oh that's hard because I want to pick something practical.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Like imagine if I was really good at investing and
- 24:57Speaker 4: I just knew everything about it and I had to
- 24:59Speaker 4: wake up something fine, something fine.
- 25:01Speaker 3: I'd like to know how to play an instrument that
- 25:04Speaker 3: was fine.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Yeah, like if.
- 25:05Speaker 1: You got instrument the proparnette.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I already know how to play the clarinet. Baby, all right,
- 25:10Speaker 3: I got years of experience.
- 25:12Speaker 1: You do you actually remember how to play the clarinet?
- 25:13Speaker 4: I think I'd be able to.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Really if I brought a clarinet in here in this studio,
- 25:18Speaker 2: you could play it. It would take me a couple
- 25:20Speaker 2: of goos. It's pretty hard.
- 25:24Speaker 4: It's a hard instrument, yeah it is.
- 25:27Speaker 2: But yes, I've already got that one down, so that's fine.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I could pick that one up.
- 25:30Speaker 4: But maybe like the electric.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Guitar or the drums, Yeah, the drums are hard.
- 25:36Speaker 4: The drug would be so much fun and you'd get
- 25:39Speaker 4: a lot out, like you.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Just get so much energy that yeah, yeah, what's yours?
- 25:44Speaker 2: Mine was going to be piano, but maybe another language.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Maybe I'd love to wake up and just be that
- 25:49Speaker 2: fluent in Italian. So to wrap that before we get
- 25:53Speaker 2: into advice to the chicks. Your four hobbies that you
- 25:57Speaker 2: need a want to fuel and feel your body, one
- 26:00Speaker 2: for your creativity, one to manage your money, and one
- 26:05Speaker 2: to expand your knowledge.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Hot Heart Paytis.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Just finish reading your book and loved it. So many
- 26:17Speaker 2: stories that resonated and life lessons to learn. I have
- 26:20Speaker 2: a question for an in between friendship. A group of
- 26:24Speaker 2: us girls met directly or indirectly through Bumble Friends, and
- 26:27Speaker 2: initially it was nice hanging out for.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Food dates and such.
- 26:30Speaker 2: However, as time went on, I found that I'm getting
- 26:33Speaker 2: closer to just a few of the girls in the
- 26:35Speaker 2: group and drifting away from a couple. I'm hosting a
- 26:39Speaker 2: housewarming party soon and I'm conflicted with how I should
- 26:42Speaker 2: hand out invites. I would love to just invite the
- 26:45Speaker 2: ones that I feel have formed a genuine connection with me,
- 26:48Speaker 2: but I don't want to offend the rest of the group.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I find it tricky because this isn't a classic fizzle
- 26:53Speaker 2: out friendship when there are other girls involved.
- 26:57Speaker 4: That's a really tough one.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:00Speaker 2: My initial reaction is if they're not bad people, and
- 27:05Speaker 2: they're nice and you still enjoy spending time with them,
- 27:08Speaker 2: I don't think there's any harm with throwing the invite
- 27:10Speaker 2: out there. If they don't want to come because they
- 27:14Speaker 2: also feel like the friendship is sort of not giving
- 27:18Speaker 2: you both what you need, then they probably won't show up,
- 27:21Speaker 2: and if they do, then nobody's feelings are getting hurt.
- 27:26Speaker 2: But then at the same time, I'm like, I understand
- 27:28Speaker 2: it's a housewarming, it's an intimate affair, and.
- 27:32Speaker 4: You probably only want the people that you really like there.
- 27:35Speaker 2: But with people like this that it's not like, oh,
- 27:37Speaker 2: this is a friend who you know is toxic, or
- 27:41Speaker 2: someone I've had a falling out with, or.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Someone who I just don't like. That makes it a
- 27:47Speaker 3: little bit more black and white, whereas this's a.
- 27:48Speaker 4: Bit of a gray area.
- 27:51Speaker 2: My perspective on stuff like this is because I feel
- 27:53Speaker 2: like I do a lot of hosting within like our friendships.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I kind of always look at it as like a
- 27:59Speaker 2: more the Maria situation, and I think I think you
- 28:03Speaker 2: end up spending time with the people that you want
- 28:06Speaker 2: to spend time with. Anyway, I think it takes away
- 28:10Speaker 2: from how much you'll enjoy yourself.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I also think.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Healthy friendships can spend quality time within those friendships, so
- 28:18Speaker 2: you don't always have to hang out as a group.
- 28:20Speaker 2: You can hang out with more intimate groups within friendship groups,
- 28:25Speaker 2: like you don't always have to do the massive thing,
- 28:28Speaker 2: And that's fine, but I just for this kind of thing.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I always go with them more of.
- 28:32Speaker 2: The merrier because, as Saul said, if they're not toxic friends,
- 28:37Speaker 2: if they're not going to take away from how much
- 28:38Speaker 2: you enjoy the evening and then not like a drama
- 28:42Speaker 2: or like a bit of a stain on the night,
- 28:44Speaker 2: I think it's better to extend the invitation.
- 28:47Speaker 1: They might come, they might not.
- 28:49Speaker 2: And that's the thing because in saying that you don't
- 28:53Speaker 2: have to. If you just want to invite your four friends,
- 28:56Speaker 2: just do that. There is absolutely We're not saying no,
- 28:59Speaker 2: you have to. That's personally just what we do in
- 29:02Speaker 2: that situation. But I also think if you want to
- 29:05Speaker 2: have an intimate night with your closer friends, that is
- 29:09Speaker 2: so fine.
- 29:09Speaker 1: You are within every single right to do that.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I would probably just not post about it because that
- 29:16Speaker 2: you do run the risk of people's feelings being hurt
- 29:19Speaker 2: that they weren't invited. If you do want to, you
- 29:22Speaker 2: also need to understand that that may set a standard
- 29:27Speaker 2: for that to also be you in the future. Exact
- 29:30Speaker 2: they might hang out and you might not be invited.
- 29:33Speaker 2: And if that's something that you are okay with, then
- 29:35Speaker 2: that is gorgeous. That is fine, But that might be
- 29:38Speaker 2: something that then sets that standard in the future that
- 29:40Speaker 2: they hang out and you don't get invited, and that's
- 29:43Speaker 2: something that you have to be comfortable and okay with.
- 29:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 29:47Speaker 2: And if that's not something that you're comfortable and okay with,
- 29:50Speaker 2: then I would just invite everyone.
- 29:52Speaker 4: It's a nice thing to do.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just like a whatever, all the marrier.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Let's all have fun to as long as you byo.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Yeah, don't open the balcony door and we're all good. Exactly.
- 30:03Speaker 4: Those are the house fun Yeah, those are the house
- 30:05Speaker 4: party rules.
- 30:06Speaker 1: And clean a clean a cup before you leave.
- 30:09Speaker 4: I like that.
- 30:12Speaker 2: That's so that's a cleaner cup, and clean a plate
- 30:15Speaker 2: and then get out.
- 30:17Speaker 1: And nothing good happens up to two am.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Yeah, remember that that's the most important one. But have
- 30:21Speaker 2: you have a fab house warming? And thank you so
- 30:23Speaker 2: much for your kind words on the book.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Yeah, so sweet, loved it. And that is a wrap
- 30:29Speaker 1: for today's episode of Two Broke Chick Jerk Chicks.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Thanks for having us in the ear holes. We would
- 30:33Speaker 4: love to be here.
- 30:34Speaker 3: I was going to say as well, if you want
- 30:37Speaker 3: to send in a submission for advice with the Chicks,
- 30:39Speaker 3: if you have a question that you'd like us to answer,
- 30:41Speaker 3: There's always a link in the description of our sale
- 30:43Speaker 3: and our episodes.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Or you can dm us a voice note yeah, or
- 30:47Speaker 2: d ch dm us some voice notes.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I love that.
- 30:50Speaker 2: I will have absolutely no self control and I'll listen
- 30:53Speaker 2: to them in the moment. But then we can play
- 30:55Speaker 2: them on the podcast.
- 30:56Speaker 1: That's so fine, Yeah, exactly, Then.
- 30:59Speaker 2: We can hear the emotion, yes, behind the story of
- 31:01Speaker 2: the past friend, but the mushrooms, the muscles anyway, Love
- 31:08Speaker 2: you chicks, thank you the m ik made for making
- 31:10Speaker 2: this episode of Two brow Cheeks Happened. Love You see
- 31:12Speaker 2: you On Thursday, we have a very exciting podcast episode
