Transcript
- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Ready for another tiny lesson? Lucas: Absolutely. So, we've been spending a lot of time at the park lately — snacks, playground, weather. But there's something we haven't covered. Luna: What's that? Lucas: What if you need to find something? Like the bathroom, or the exit? Today we learn how to ask for directions. Luna: Oh, that's super useful. I've definitely been lost in a park before. Lucas: So first phrase: ¿Dónde está el baño? — Where is the bathroom? Listen: ¿Dónde está el baño? Luna: ¿Dónde está el baño? That's got a nice rhythm. Lucas: It does. Try it once more. Luna: ¿Dónde está el baño? Lucas: Perfect. Now, what if you want to ask for the exit? ¿Por dónde se va a la salida? — How do you get to the exit? That's a mouthful. Okay, I think I got it. Lucas: Great. Now, when someone gives you directions, you need to understand them. Three key words: a la derecha — to the right. A la izquierda — to the left. And todo recto — straight ahead. So if someone says 'a la derecha', I go right. Lucas: Exactly. Let's put it together. Imagine I'm at the park and I ask you: ¿Dónde está el baño? You point and say: a la derecha. Luna: A la derecha. Okay, easy. Lucas: Now you ask me: ¿Por dónde se va a la salida? I answer: todo recto. Got it. Lucas: Let's practice a little scene. I'm lost. I say: Disculpe, ¿dónde está el baño? Luna: Disculpe, ¿dónde está el baño? That's 'Excuse me, where is the bathroom?' right? Lucas: Right. And you answer: A la izquierda, por favor. Then I say: Gracias. Luna: A la izquierda, por favor. Gracias. Nice. Lucas: Alright, now, before we practice more, can I say something? Luna: Sure, go ahead. Lucas: You know, we make these episodes without any ads — that's important to us. If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Spanish, and you'd like to support that ad-free choice, there's a simple way. You can go to buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it really helps keep the show going without interruptions. We appreciate anyone who does that. Lucas: Okay, back to directions. Let's say you're at the park and you need to find the fountain. How would you ask? Luna: Uh... ¿Dónde está la fuente? Because fuente we learned earlier. Lucas: Exactly! ¿Dónde está la fuente? And if someone says 'a la derecha', you go right. Luna: A la derecha. Okay. Lucas: Let's do a quick recap. Lucas: Todo recto. Luna: Todo recto. Lucas: Awesome. Now you can find your way around any park in Spanish. Practice these, and next time we'll explore something new. Thanks for learning with Fexingo. Luna: See you next time!
