- 0:15Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I mean, Luka Doncik is I think the best player
- 0:22Speaker 2: in basketball.
- 0:25Speaker 4: For me.
- 0:26Speaker 2: The peak of the show was when Fred was trying
- 0:27Speaker 2: to remember the name George Gottshe but couldn't, and all
- 0:30Speaker 2: he could do was say in his Jimmy Stewart voice
- 0:34Speaker 2: over and over again until someone guess who the hell
- 0:36Speaker 2: he was talking about.
- 0:37Speaker 5: He used to call George Gatzi and they accent George
- 0:41Speaker 5: George Goats.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I consider Pritchard on the guy that comes off the bench.
- 0:46Speaker 5: He is a guy who comes off the bench that
- 0:47Speaker 5: is play what's the.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Movie that I really liked that all you guys made
- 0:51Speaker 2: fun of me about Paul Do you remember wife for Quater?
- 0:54Speaker 2: You got it?
- 0:55Speaker 5: But what a memory he has as a diehard fan
- 0:58Speaker 5: and a Jew.
- 1:00Speaker 6: It makes me upset when we sit there and say
- 1:01Speaker 6: that all Christmas.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Movie like this is my time, It's Christmas season, Okay,
- 1:05Speaker 5: this is my last New Year's New Year want, But
- 1:10Speaker 5: it wasn't it was Christmas?
- 1:11Speaker 6: You want pizzat reginas, do you want palm?
- 1:15Speaker 5: Go to mother Anna's mother? Is it Mother Anna?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:18Speaker 5: Right on the tough one.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It's pronounced pizza time.
- 1:21Speaker 2: This is Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 1:23Speaker 7: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals buy a Toyota
- 1:26Speaker 7: dot com.
- 1:29Speaker 2: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday, no Thursday,
- 1:35Speaker 2: here at a Less stadium.
- 1:36Speaker 5: I did the same thing.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And we're coming off in O t A yesterday, so
- 1:42Speaker 2: I wasn't able to go there. So I'm really excited
- 1:46Speaker 2: to hear what the three of you have to say.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And Evan, are you still upset? Like you know, tell
- 1:52Speaker 2: me everything. It's it's Deuce, it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me.
- 1:55Speaker 2: We're here for the next two hours on Patriots Unfiltered,
- 1:58Speaker 2: So let's let's get right into it. O t A
- 2:01Speaker 2: yesterday we had full access. What do you think? Yeah, Ethan,
- 2:07Speaker 2: I was directed to you.
- 2:08Speaker 6: So first of all, I do want to apologize to
- 2:10Speaker 6: Fred about our snarkiness about his NBA takes on Tuesday.
- 2:15Speaker 6: I don't I feel as though we we you know,
- 2:18Speaker 6: belittled you a little bit and said you didn't know
- 2:20Speaker 6: what you were talking about.
- 2:21Speaker 5: I don't think I made enough for the fun baseball
- 2:23Speaker 5: team that I see wanted to come off.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I don't think they're fun.
- 2:27Speaker 6: Just listening to us just you know, say absolutely not
- 2:30Speaker 6: to Luca doct just being the best player in the league.
- 2:32Speaker 5: I just felt a little it was a little mean.
- 2:35Speaker 6: Anyways, in terms of the OTAs, I like to pace
- 2:40Speaker 6: the practice a lot better this week, so I can
- 2:42Speaker 6: we can say that they they they checked off that
- 2:45Speaker 6: box for me this week. I love the fact that
- 2:47Speaker 6: they were splitting up into both fields and running seven
- 2:50Speaker 6: on seven simultaneously. That's all I was asking for last week,
- 2:54Speaker 6: was you want to get your Koey Brissett ready to
- 2:56Speaker 6: be the starter. That's perfectly fine. I think we all
- 2:58Speaker 6: see that that that's the path that they're going down.
- 3:01Speaker 6: But you still need to find work for Drake May
- 3:04Speaker 6: during that time of practice, and you can't just be
- 3:06Speaker 6: standing around doing nothing. And I thought yesterday they did
- 3:09Speaker 6: a better job of splitting up the squads into both
- 3:12Speaker 6: fields and running things simultaneously and mixing in Drake May.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Amazing. As they have more practices, they pick up the pace.
- 3:21Speaker 8: Who would have thought not Evan last week apparently we
- 3:25Speaker 8: had to do a show they needed more practices to
- 3:27Speaker 8: get to the point where they were yesterday.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Maybe they should have come in when they were allowed to. Okay,
- 3:34Speaker 5: all right, anyway, well what you're the only one allowed
- 3:37Speaker 5: to be snarky. But again, I'm sure they had valid
- 3:41Speaker 5: reasons not to come in that week.
- 3:43Speaker 6: But anyway, anyway, Yeah, that was my my I know,
- 3:45Speaker 6: that was my big take last week. So that but
- 3:48Speaker 6: my my other takeaway from yesterday, And this is way
- 3:50Speaker 6: knee jerk and way too probably reactionary to one practice.
- 3:55Speaker 6: But I feel like if that what we saw yesterday
- 3:59Speaker 6: from Drake May is the baseline, then I just I
- 4:03Speaker 6: don't see how he's gonna stay off the field for
- 4:05Speaker 6: very long once we get to the regular season. Now,
- 4:08Speaker 6: if that was a really good Drake May practice in
- 4:10Speaker 6: the day before, he threw six picks and we just
- 4:12Speaker 6: didn't see it happened because we weren't there, and that's
- 4:14Speaker 6: a different story. But if we just keep on seeing
- 4:17Speaker 6: him practice like that and that's how it looks when
- 4:20Speaker 6: he's throwing the ball, then I don't know how how
- 4:24Speaker 6: are we going to convince ourselves that they should be
- 4:26Speaker 6: riding the Jacobi Brissett train. And I say they won't.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think they'll need to convince themselves. They'll
- 4:31Speaker 2: just make the common sense decision.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I kind of.
- 4:34Speaker 8: I mean I didn't go quite that far, but I mean,
- 4:37Speaker 8: hear what I've been saying, And I think my just
- 4:39Speaker 8: general feeling is just I'm excited about Drake May.
- 4:41Speaker 9: I know.
- 4:42Speaker 8: It wasn't you know, I mean, he made some place yesterday.
- 4:44Speaker 8: It wasn't anything you know, overwhelming, but it's just there.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And everyone glombed down to the no look pass.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:50Speaker 8: Well yeah, I mean and that, you know, we kind
- 4:52Speaker 8: of I kind of joked about that when it happened, like, oh,
- 4:54Speaker 8: you know, because those kind of things are you.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Know, so overrated these days because you just said wants.
- 4:58Speaker 5: But now we have a guy that, yeah, I could anymore, right,
- 5:02Speaker 5: you know, but I couldn't.
- 5:03Speaker 6: You know.
- 5:04Speaker 8: There's a couple throws and you know, he had a
- 5:05Speaker 8: little bit of a rough start and he bounced back
- 5:07Speaker 8: and YadA, YadA, YadA. Without getting into like the details
- 5:09Speaker 8: of breaking down every play that he made, I'm just
- 5:12Speaker 8: excited to have this kid.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I think he's got all the talent, you know, he
- 5:15Speaker 1: just he's athletic.
- 5:17Speaker 2: You see him throwing on the mass. I let's just
- 5:19Speaker 2: stick on that athletic party. Would you say that going
- 5:23Speaker 2: back to mac Jones's first practices that we saw him,
- 5:27Speaker 2: he wasn't doing what May is doing now. No, And
- 5:30Speaker 2: that's and that's I mean, is that because they didn't
- 5:32Speaker 2: want him to do or he could No, it's just.
- 5:33Speaker 8: Be he couldn't. He's not that guy.
- 5:35Speaker 5: He's not.
- 5:35Speaker 8: He's not six foot four two twenty super athletic and
- 5:38Speaker 8: you know, looks great on the move. And again, like
- 5:41Speaker 8: I just I go back to where I was, you know,
- 5:44Speaker 8: a couple years over the last couple of years, when
- 5:45Speaker 8: you just I looked at Josh Allen and Justin Herbert
- 5:48Speaker 8: and those kind of players that just had so much
- 5:50Speaker 8: potential and it just changes the franchise. And I don't
- 5:53Speaker 8: know if if either of those guys is ever going
- 5:55Speaker 8: to win a Super Bowl. I don't know if Drake
- 5:56Speaker 8: May is gonna win.
- 5:57Speaker 5: A Super Bowl. But I'm just excited to watch this kid.
- 5:59Speaker 8: I think, you know, we've seen a little bit of
- 6:01Speaker 8: progress from him. It wasn't that I was oh my god,
- 6:03Speaker 8: every single thing he did, like he's still a rookie.
- 6:05Speaker 8: He's twenty one it's he's developing. I'm not gonna, you know,
- 6:08Speaker 8: come in here and tell you that he's already ready.
- 6:09Speaker 8: And you know, I mean Evan, Evan did take it
- 6:11Speaker 8: a little bit step farther than I did of keeping
- 6:13Speaker 8: him off the field. But I hope that he's right
- 6:15Speaker 8: because I think you just have you have that guy now,
- 6:17Speaker 8: and all this time we spend talking about the offensive
- 6:21Speaker 8: line and they don't have a number one, it doesn't matter.
- 6:23Speaker 8: You've got a quarterback with some potential now, and that
- 6:26Speaker 8: should feed the rest of the energy around the team.
- 6:28Speaker 8: So that that's just I just like last night, I
- 6:30Speaker 8: was like, you know, and everybody, you know, you see
- 6:31Speaker 8: everybody talking about it and weighing in, and you know,
- 6:33Speaker 8: everybody kind of sees the same things. But I just
- 6:36Speaker 8: think the general takeaway from a couple of practices is
- 6:38Speaker 8: that this kid looks like a third overall pick.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I don't know how it's gonna go, but I'm excited
- 6:42Speaker 1: to watch him.
- 6:42Speaker 5: Paul, Yeah, I have the similar, similar kind of excitement
- 6:47Speaker 5: because of just the player himself, you know, with with
- 6:50Speaker 5: Drake may and one of the things that you know,
- 6:53Speaker 5: like we were just sitting there, Mike and I and
- 6:55Speaker 5: ben Volan from the Globe, you know who. He interrupted
- 6:58Speaker 5: us a lot, but Mike and I were very very
- 7:00Speaker 5: deep into what Jaws talker. We got interrupted a couple
- 7:03Speaker 5: of times, but he just said. He goes Paulli poly
- 7:07Speaker 5: over under on Drake May starts and I'm like, oh,
- 7:09Speaker 5: I don't know three and a half and he goes, oh,
- 7:11Speaker 5: it's gonna way over that at least eight or nine,
- 7:15Speaker 5: and I was like, okay, I turned into Mike. I
- 7:19Speaker 5: turned into the stand right now. I was like, I'm
- 7:22Speaker 5: here for that, like eight or nine starts, like I
- 7:25Speaker 5: would be thrilled if he plays that many games, And
- 7:29Speaker 5: there is I think, just an inherent enthusiasm about the
- 7:32Speaker 5: idea of the third overall pick with the size, strength
- 7:37Speaker 5: and athleticism that he has. Now, I'm not going to
- 7:40Speaker 5: get lost in what I saw, Like I just I
- 7:43Speaker 5: kind of felt like I was catching up yesterday because
- 7:46Speaker 5: I hadn't seen the first two practices. I think Evyan
- 7:51Speaker 5: kind of lowered my expectations a little bit for the way,
- 7:56Speaker 5: and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought there was sort
- 7:59Speaker 5: of a crispness to the practice, like there was movement,
- 8:01Speaker 5: you know, like just like with when Bill was here,
- 8:05Speaker 5: there was an efficiency of from station to station, the
- 8:08Speaker 5: buger's sounding, there's not a lot of standing around. There
- 8:11Speaker 5: wasn't a lot of wasted time I didn't notice. So
- 8:14Speaker 5: those are little things like procedural that I was kind
- 8:17Speaker 5: of keeping an eye on. And then with new guys
- 8:20Speaker 5: I was trying to watch. And the one guy who
- 8:21Speaker 5: stood out to me in terms of just his movement,
- 8:25Speaker 5: you know, athleticism, quickness was Javon Baker, who kind of
- 8:30Speaker 5: flashed a little bit to me. And again I'm not
- 8:32Speaker 5: talking about plays. I leave that to the experts that
- 8:35Speaker 5: chart the stats.
- 8:36Speaker 10: I do not.
- 8:37Speaker 5: I could not tell you how many catches Javon Baker
- 8:40Speaker 5: had yesterday. I'm just talking about watching him in drills.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Watching him move seems very fluid. I thought he showed
- 8:48Speaker 5: maybe a little more speed that I was expecting. He
- 8:50Speaker 5: looked faster on the field than I thought he was. Maybe,
- 8:53Speaker 5: so he's maybe maybe one of those guys that plays
- 8:55Speaker 5: faster than his time. You know, we'll see. I mean again,
- 8:59Speaker 5: no pads know nothing, but that was one thing that
- 9:02Speaker 5: I was excited about.
- 9:03Speaker 8: That was the same kind of feeling I had last
- 9:05Speaker 8: week's practice where the first time we watched him, I
- 9:07Speaker 8: didntals see, but I kind of felt the same thing
- 9:09Speaker 8: last practice and into this practice, and he's another one
- 9:13Speaker 8: where I just I want to see him.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I want to see the pads come on, you know.
- 9:16Speaker 1: That's that's like the.
- 9:17Speaker 8: Thing we always talking about, like I can't wait for
- 9:19Speaker 8: otis and then I can't wait for training camp.
- 9:21Speaker 5: So in that regard, like on the flip side, fred
- 9:25Speaker 5: I didn't get much of a vibe from Jalen Polk.
- 9:28Speaker 5: Now again, for him, I think he might be a
- 9:32Speaker 5: guy who will look better in pads. Yeah, sure, you
- 9:35Speaker 5: know what I mean. So I don't want to get lost.
- 9:37Speaker 5: Maybe Baker doesn't look quite as explosive in pads. Maybe
- 9:41Speaker 5: Polk's sort of physicality can shine through a little bit
- 9:45Speaker 5: more in pads. But he kind of noticed the difference
- 9:50Speaker 5: between him and Yeah, some of these other guys that
- 9:52Speaker 5: I had to scourty of the roster to figure out
- 9:54Speaker 5: who they were.
- 9:54Speaker 6: I mean, he's not going to move like exceptionally well,
- 9:57Speaker 6: like that's just not his game. And I just go
- 9:59Speaker 6: back to some of the other guys that we've watched,
- 10:02Speaker 6: Jacobe Kendrick Bourne, Like those guys don't typically have big springs,
- 10:08Speaker 6: even really big training camps. In Kendrick Bourne's case, Like
- 10:11Speaker 6: there's times with cren Nick Bourne, we go a week
- 10:13Speaker 6: and we're like where it's Kendrick Born, you know, like
- 10:15Speaker 6: he doesn't really he's not a train what happens during
- 10:17Speaker 6: the season, that's ridiculous.
- 10:20Speaker 5: He's not a training camp. He has great games, yes,
- 10:23Speaker 5: and then he's quiet for two games. You know, I'm
- 10:25Speaker 5: just that's but you know what that's kind of Kendrick Bourne. Yeah,
- 10:29Speaker 5: so he's he's not necessarily a training camp guy either.
- 10:32Speaker 5: I think those guys are. It shows more in real
- 10:35Speaker 5: game settings. And and Baker, I think is should be
- 10:40Speaker 5: a specimen this time of year. I know he didn't
- 10:42Speaker 5: run very fast in the forty but he is a big,
- 10:45Speaker 5: explosive athlete. You know, a guy that was a highly
- 10:48Speaker 5: recruited player goes to Alabama, you know, like he's that's
- 10:52Speaker 5: what he is, you know, that's what he looked like
- 10:53Speaker 5: to me yesterday. First impression.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Yeah, And I also would say Thornton. Throw Thornton in
- 10:58Speaker 1: that mix up.
- 10:58Speaker 8: Want to see the pads on because again looks great
- 11:01Speaker 8: running around seven on seven, but when guys are getting
- 11:04Speaker 8: their hands on him, and still if.
- 11:05Speaker 2: You'd never seen Thornton before and somebody says, fine, find
- 11:09Speaker 2: the skinny guy that's Thornton, you'd have no trouble because
- 11:12Speaker 2: he's so And.
- 11:13Speaker 6: I say he was much bigger right right, like he's
- 11:16Speaker 6: he's in his upper body. I think he's a little
- 11:18Speaker 6: he's a little bit like wider, like his shoulders, so
- 11:21Speaker 6: a little bit bigger. I'm not saying it's like he's
- 11:24Speaker 6: transformed his body.
- 11:26Speaker 2: But that's good because some of his injuries have been
- 11:28Speaker 2: upper box.
- 11:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I would say he's a little bit wider, you know,
- 11:32Speaker 6: like he's a little bit stockier.
- 11:34Speaker 2: So maybe they're building some muscle around him.
- 11:35Speaker 5: I would also say, in his defense, I think he's
- 11:38Speaker 5: looked pretty good in practice. But this is this is
- 11:41Speaker 5: his third camp, now come, you know, getting ready for it.
- 11:45Speaker 5: I thought he had a pretty good training camp as
- 11:47Speaker 5: a rookie, and I thought he showed flashes, not as
- 11:50Speaker 5: I don't think he was as good last year as
- 11:52Speaker 5: he was as a rookie training camp, but he showed flashes.
- 11:55Speaker 5: And then when you guys went to Green Bay, he
- 11:57Speaker 5: was pretty good until he got hurt.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Right like the play I think so was there, don't
- 12:02Speaker 1: you were the offense.
- 12:02Speaker 6: He he caught like a forty yard deep ball, landed
- 12:05Speaker 6: on his shoulder and separated his shoulder and that was it,
- 12:08Speaker 6: right or or whatever it was.
- 12:10Speaker 8: Yep, Yeah, I mean I think he'll make things a
- 12:12Speaker 8: little bit more complicated if he's he's able, because he
- 12:14Speaker 8: certainly has you know, the long speed.
- 12:17Speaker 1: But I just I don't know, just watching practice, I'm
- 12:19Speaker 1: not really a big fan.
- 12:20Speaker 2: I mean, it just it just seems's skinny.
- 12:23Speaker 5: Mike's not going to let himself get hurt again now
- 12:25Speaker 5: I was protecting.
- 12:26Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I mean, I I understand it.
- 12:28Speaker 8: But even even with the speed, there's just a certain
- 12:31Speaker 8: lack of physicality with him.
- 12:32Speaker 2: The current status, you'd still be open to bringing in
- 12:36Speaker 2: a veteran wide receiver, you know, I'll just throw out
- 12:38Speaker 2: the name T Higgins, like somebody somebody of that ilk.
- 12:43Speaker 5: He would still be an alpha, like a number, like
- 12:45Speaker 5: a big, big time player.
- 12:46Speaker 6: Yes, and yeah on that level sure, But like I
- 12:50Speaker 6: wouldn't bring in just another guy. I think they got
- 12:53Speaker 6: plenty of guys.
- 12:55Speaker 8: I mean, guy who from day one is your course?
- 12:59Speaker 8: Wr you just you know, you just wonder is that
- 13:02Speaker 8: the move for next year? You know, is that you know,
- 13:05Speaker 8: get get get, they'll go out and make that move.
- 13:07Speaker 5: At this stage. Probably, Yes, they tried to do it
- 13:10Speaker 5: with Calvin Ridley, Yeah, but they weren't able to do it.
- 13:14Speaker 5: So but maybe just wait till next year.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I'd say.
- 13:16Speaker 8: Even still though, even if they got Ridley, like I
- 13:18Speaker 8: think we might still kind of be saying that a
- 13:19Speaker 8: little bit. You know, it would be Ridley be a
- 13:21Speaker 8: really nice compliment. But again I'd still want, you know,
- 13:24Speaker 8: a guy like ayuk Or or Higgins that could play
- 13:26Speaker 8: on the outside. But I just I don't know how
- 13:28Speaker 8: it's all going to play out. Juju's out there, he's
- 13:30Speaker 8: you know, he looks fine.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I haven't really thought.
- 13:33Speaker 5: I thought he was moving around pretty well, made a
- 13:35Speaker 5: couple of catches. Maybe he did one in particular that
- 13:38Speaker 5: I remember, yep.
- 13:39Speaker 8: Yeah, So I don't know how it's all going to
- 13:41Speaker 8: play out, like yeah kind of.
- 13:45Speaker 2: So in terms of the number of reps, was it
- 13:47Speaker 2: evenly split or did May have significantly less than zappi
- 13:50Speaker 2: inset it.
- 13:52Speaker 6: Was Brissette was tilted towards Brissett, and then May got
- 13:57Speaker 6: a ton of seven on seven work that Zappie didn't
- 13:59Speaker 6: get and then eleven on eleven's it was Prisette, Zappi, Brissette, May, Brissette,
- 14:05Speaker 6: Zach Like they did it that way.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Yeah, So seven on sevens I think Zappi and Brissett
- 14:11Speaker 5: were together, yes, and May was by himself. So that's
- 14:14Speaker 5: why May made up for some of the reps that
- 14:16Speaker 5: he didn't get eleven on eleven with the sevens.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Gotcha.
- 14:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I thought his seven on seven session for Drake May,
- 14:23Speaker 6: he was he was a little bit on fire at
- 14:25Speaker 6: some points, like he was, he was throwing.
- 14:29Speaker 2: You're getting people excited, You're getting all your minions excited.
- 14:32Speaker 5: It's not even So. Now I'm going to make a
- 14:33Speaker 5: prediction for the next hour and forty five minutes, there's
- 14:36Speaker 5: gonna be a lot of positive Evan calls today.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Okay, we want to hear from you.
- 14:42Speaker 5: Last week he wasn't doing it right. This week, I'm
- 14:45Speaker 5: going to guess that he's doing it right.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Who are you to say he looked good.
- 14:48Speaker 5: He was a little in fuego.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Not gonna lie, you know what.
- 14:51Speaker 6: I challenge our listeners to have someone call in and
- 14:53Speaker 6: ask him who he thinks he is saying that that
- 14:56Speaker 6: he was.
- 14:56Speaker 5: On fire, What does that mean, come on a little bit.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the encouraging part you ever played quarterback before.
- 15:04Speaker 5: You even know what they're supposed to do.
- 15:06Speaker 6: I think the encouraging part, though, is that if you
- 15:10Speaker 6: listen to the naysayers, the people that didn't like Drake
- 15:13Speaker 6: May in the draft, it was he's broken mechanically. His
- 15:17Speaker 6: footwork's a mess, his accuracies all over the place, and
- 15:21Speaker 6: that I get it that we're not in pads. Is
- 15:24Speaker 6: not a live pass rush, all the caveats you can
- 15:26Speaker 6: put on it, but he does not look as a
- 15:30Speaker 6: broken player mechanically that people are claiming that he was.
- 15:34Speaker 6: And his accuracy, I mean, he's putting the ball where
- 15:37Speaker 6: the ball needs to go, like is it perfect every
- 15:39Speaker 6: single time. There's a couple of throws that I thought
- 15:41Speaker 6: he got kind of caught between clubs a little bit,
- 15:43Speaker 6: like he wasn't sure if he should throw it, you know,
- 15:45Speaker 6: over the shoulder, back shoulder or whatever, and kind of
- 15:48Speaker 6: got him stuck in between. But it's not like he's
- 15:51Speaker 6: air milling the ball ten yards over guy's heads, like
- 15:53Speaker 6: the ball is catchable, and that I think is the
- 15:56Speaker 6: most encouraging thing. Not necessarily like no look past and
- 15:59Speaker 6: like all these throws that I could point to that
- 16:01Speaker 6: he made that we're good. It's more so that he
- 16:04Speaker 6: looks like he's on time. He's got a rhythm to him,
- 16:07Speaker 6: and he's accurate.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Because we've seen both. We've seen the ultimate accuracy in
- 16:12Speaker 2: Tom Brady and I remember when the Browns do. We
- 16:16Speaker 2: have a joint with the Browns one year in Baker
- 16:19Speaker 2: Mayfield Panthers, Panthers and may feel look terrible like he
- 16:23Speaker 2: was all over the place. Obviously, we've seen t bow
- 16:27Speaker 2: in cam so we've seen the rains, so you know,
- 16:31Speaker 2: we have something to gauge on when we judge accuracy
- 16:35Speaker 2: in a practice.
- 16:37Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, mostly from the last few years, which, yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 8: you guys were spoiled. You were just watching Brady fling
- 16:42Speaker 8: it around.
- 16:42Speaker 2: The ball never hit the ground ever, you know.
- 16:46Speaker 6: And now it's now we're getting like he was twelve
- 16:48Speaker 6: or fourteen and seven on seven, so it almost never
- 16:50Speaker 6: hit the ground.
- 16:50Speaker 2: It shouldn't.
- 16:51Speaker 5: I mean, let's face it, they're not should you know.
- 16:53Speaker 5: There was the one defensive player that I noticed yesterday
- 16:56Speaker 5: was a penalty on Alex Austen and he broke up
- 16:58Speaker 5: a pass that he just grabbed the shirt jumped and
- 17:00Speaker 5: knocked the path. Otherwise the ball never would have hit
- 17:04Speaker 5: the ground. Bat ball actually might not have either. I
- 17:06Speaker 5: think that got paid. I think it got picked off
- 17:08Speaker 5: by Hawkins thirty two. So Hawkins is crat. Mike made
- 17:13Speaker 5: a good observation on Jalen Hawkins yesterday. We got to
- 17:16Speaker 5: that later. That's a little minutia. But I think you
- 17:18Speaker 5: might be onto something. Manuia to me, No, well, that's
- 17:20Speaker 5: also I think you're onto something.
- 17:22Speaker 2: That's also something that in the past we've picked up
- 17:25Speaker 2: on early, like h this unknown cornerback. They seem to
- 17:29Speaker 2: be matching up with, you know, some of the top
- 17:32Speaker 2: flight receivers on the team. Maybe they see something any
- 17:35Speaker 2: of that. Alex Austin for sure gets a lot of reps.
- 17:38Speaker 5: H they're getting.
- 17:38Speaker 8: Yeah, they're given a lot of the younger guys. I
- 17:41Speaker 8: mean it's Jonathan Jones wasn't dressed yesterday. But even with Gonzo,
- 17:44Speaker 8: they they were running with Austin for a little bit,
- 17:48Speaker 8: but then he was out and yeah, I think it
- 17:50Speaker 8: was Marco Marco Wilson and like, but you know, we
- 17:55Speaker 8: had to talk to the defensive coaches too, and talked
- 17:58Speaker 8: to Mike Pelgrino nobody was talking went over and I
- 18:00Speaker 8: wasn't like, I'm not even right about my what's going.
- 18:02Speaker 2: On about the national championships and lacrosse?
- 18:04Speaker 8: Oh I should have I want to save that one
- 18:07Speaker 8: because I got to bring up I'll bring up Braden's
- 18:09Speaker 8: lacrosse and see what he thinks.
- 18:11Speaker 5: But probably shouldn't do that.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I've talked to him.
- 18:16Speaker 8: I know, I'm surprised he didn't bring it up. People
- 18:19Speaker 8: don't know, but you know, I it's you know, it's
- 18:21Speaker 8: always weird, like when you're talking to the coaches and
- 18:23Speaker 8: you're like, well, here's my view of it. But but
- 18:25Speaker 8: he said, you know, I think we got a lot
- 18:26Speaker 8: of a lot of really good depth. And I just said,
- 18:27Speaker 8: you know, from my point of view, and I've said
- 18:29Speaker 8: it on the show, it's just, you know, it seems
- 18:31Speaker 8: like you've got opportunities in the slot and then really
- 18:33Speaker 8: finding the third guy.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And he's like, well, you know how it goes here,
- 18:35Speaker 1: we got we got a lot of depth.
- 18:36Speaker 8: We're gonna we're gonna need a lot of these guys.
- 18:38Speaker 8: So he seems he always seems pretty encouraged by his guys.
- 18:41Speaker 8: That's that's kind of his m O.
- 18:43Speaker 1: But but I do think there are some opportunities there
- 18:45Speaker 1: at the quarterback.
- 18:45Speaker 5: And I would say from bouncing around to a handful
- 18:48Speaker 5: of the defensive assistant yesterday, I didn't hear it from
- 18:51Speaker 5: pell Agrino, but I would say that was the My
- 18:54Speaker 5: takeaway from all of them was there was you know,
- 18:57Speaker 5: it's like the newness Fred, It's like early you know,
- 18:59Speaker 5: like back. Everybody's sort of refreshed and ready to go.
- 19:03Speaker 5: And I think there is sort of a lot of
- 19:05Speaker 5: these guys, you know, Pelaguino's not one of them, but
- 19:08Speaker 5: a lot of these guys it's new for them. Yeah,
- 19:10Speaker 5: so they are sort of fresh and excited and full
- 19:14Speaker 5: of hope.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 8: I also would say just a little tip to Evan
- 19:17Speaker 8: who highlighted saying, you know, Brian Belichick's going.
- 19:20Speaker 1: To talk today, that's probably And I was like, yeah,
- 19:22Speaker 1: good idea.
- 19:22Speaker 8: So you know, I wrote up Brian, which which got
- 19:24Speaker 8: you know a little bit a little bit of traction,
- 19:26Speaker 8: but it was, you know, good write up.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I think like it was just good to hear from him,
- 19:29Speaker 1: and you know, he's he's a good kid.
- 19:31Speaker 8: I don't know, he just seems like he's always bringing
- 19:34Speaker 8: up his wife and his kid and you know, his
- 19:36Speaker 8: personal life and how much how important.
- 19:37Speaker 3: That is to him.
- 19:38Speaker 8: But I thought he did a good job, you know.
- 19:41Speaker 8: And it was also weird seeing Steve there yesterday too,
- 19:43Speaker 8: So it just feels like it's.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Thawing a little bit.
- 19:46Speaker 5: Came to visit all the you know, all the just like, oh,
- 19:48Speaker 5: you know.
- 19:48Speaker 8: These two camps, like it just doesn't It feels like
- 19:50Speaker 8: people are realizing, like, you know, there was going to
- 19:53Speaker 8: be a period after the last few years that everybody
- 19:55Speaker 8: kind of was pissed at Bill. But I think we're
- 19:57Speaker 8: all kind of coming around, and personally, it's just it's
- 20:00Speaker 8: it's cool that Brian's still here. It's cool that there's
- 20:01Speaker 8: still a Belichick in the building, and you know, you
- 20:03Speaker 8: really you're starting to get that historical perspective of what
- 20:06Speaker 8: Bill did here for whatever it was twenty three years.
- 20:09Speaker 8: I mean, you know, that's just it's it's as he said,
- 20:11Speaker 8: I think the uh, you know, the standard was established
- 20:14Speaker 8: here and and that's what they're trying to get back to.
- 20:16Speaker 8: So I'm glad that we're getting back to a point
- 20:18Speaker 8: where we can you know, dismiss with all the you know,
- 20:21Speaker 8: controversies and all the things that happened and just kind
- 20:23Speaker 8: of appreciate Bill Belichick.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Yeah, Patty Chung in the house yesterday.
- 20:26Speaker 8: Patty Chung. Okay, Paddy Chung. And I've in fears of course,
- 20:30Speaker 8: just yet.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I can't kick him.
- 20:33Speaker 5: I'd want to.
- 20:34Speaker 2: But some people they retire, they go down to the
- 20:37Speaker 2: neighborhood coffee shop and hang out. You know. He comes
- 20:40Speaker 2: to the practice.
- 20:41Speaker 5: So I didn't see him. Will you with me? When
- 20:43Speaker 5: I was was I was kind of like busting those
- 20:45Speaker 5: balls a little bit in the tunnel, probably like two
- 20:48Speaker 5: weeks ago. He's walking, he's walking back from the field.
- 20:51Speaker 5: I go, you know, I don't think you understand how
- 20:53Speaker 5: this is supposed to work. He just started laughing. I go,
- 20:58Speaker 5: you gotta leave, know right, like you need to go fishing, right.
- 21:02Speaker 2: You know, he's got golf.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I know his wife wants to be funny.
- 21:06Speaker 5: He's here. Where are you going here all the time?
- 21:08Speaker 5: Go back to the stadium.
- 21:09Speaker 1: You know, you just always see him kind of with
- 21:11Speaker 1: that little amble that he's got.
- 21:15Speaker 5: But good, good, good guy.
- 21:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I was surprised though, to see to see Steve pop up.
- 21:19Speaker 1: We weren't sure it was.
- 21:20Speaker 5: I was a little surprised to see him, yeah, because
- 21:22Speaker 5: it was funny because I said, I go, it looks
- 21:25Speaker 5: just like Steve Belichick. I said it to Mike, like
- 21:27Speaker 5: I thought you were kidding, And I'm like, oh, I said,
- 21:29Speaker 5: that looks just like Steve Belichick. Well, I mean, and
- 21:31Speaker 5: I do think he looked like he put on a.
- 21:33Speaker 6: Little weight that or he has got the ponytail, he
- 21:35Speaker 6: had extra extra hoodie, he had some layers. Oni No,
- 21:40Speaker 6: I like, he looked just like And I was, like,
- 21:42Speaker 6: I said to Mike, it was like right away in practice,
- 21:45Speaker 6: like five minutes into pricice that Belichick.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Then like ten minutes last like, I think that's Steve Belichick.
- 21:51Speaker 2: We're pretty sure Bill will be here for Brady Day.
- 21:54Speaker 5: You know. I can oh, he wouldn't miss that.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Percentages that he will show up for a training camp.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Bill and Paul talked about that.
- 22:02Speaker 8: I think, so I bet he does.
- 22:03Speaker 5: I bet he does see I don't think he'll be
- 22:05Speaker 5: on the field so people see him. I think percentages that.
- 22:10Speaker 5: Do you remember this thing like last week where Mayo
- 22:13Speaker 5: told some people that Tony Dungee was here. He actually
- 22:15Speaker 5: talked about it a little, Yes, addressed the team now
- 22:19Speaker 5: eliminate the Mayo told everybody that Bill Belichick was here part.
- 22:24Speaker 5: I wouldn't be surprised if Bill came in and saw
- 22:26Speaker 5: the team talk to the team behind the you know,
- 22:29Speaker 5: behind the scenes. That wouldn't I'm not telling you it's
- 22:32Speaker 5: going to happen in year one, but I wouldn't be
- 22:35Speaker 5: stunned to hear that news. I would be stunned if
- 22:37Speaker 5: Bill was okay with Gerard talking about it. I don't
- 22:40Speaker 5: think that would happen. And I'm not sure that we'd
- 22:43Speaker 5: see him at practice because now everybody sees him, and
- 22:46Speaker 5: I don't think he wants that.
- 22:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I put it at zero zero, not because there's
- 22:50Speaker 6: any like animosity between those two guys, but you got
- 22:53Speaker 6: to put some separation, like you can't if he's starting different,
- 22:57Speaker 6: Like if you start like Bill starts coming around practic
- 23:00Speaker 6: this and stuff like that, Like just.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Now you make it like, yeah, I'm just talking about one.
- 23:04Speaker 5: I'm talking about one day.
- 23:06Speaker 6: No, I know, but I just I don't think that
- 23:09Speaker 6: not this year. Yeah, maybe maybe like in the future
- 23:14Speaker 6: of Drod has some success, like and you know, the
- 23:17Speaker 6: thing is starting to point in the right direction.
- 23:19Speaker 5: Like yeah, I just like I could never see it
- 23:22Speaker 5: happening the way these things have happened so far where
- 23:24Speaker 5: they've been so public, right, I could never see that,
- 23:28Speaker 5: like in other words, it could happen, we would never
- 23:31Speaker 5: find out about it.
- 23:32Speaker 2: But I I like the fact that Steve feels comfortable coming.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I think he should be welcome. Yeah, of course it
- 23:39Speaker 2: seems like job.
- 23:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I know, it seems like he had a few
- 23:42Speaker 6: Washington staffers with him, so maybe he wanted to like
- 23:45Speaker 6: show them the NFL practice and you know that sort
- 23:48Speaker 6: of thing.
- 23:48Speaker 5: So left the meadowlands. Oh no, sorry, that was that
- 23:52Speaker 5: was snarky Fred again.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Good stuff, all right? Eight five five paths five hundred.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Is the a stick and outline web radio at Patriots
- 23:59Speaker 2: dot com? Is it mail address? Anything else? Patriots wise?
- 24:03Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 24:04Speaker 8: I mean, there's always like little nuggets that I feel
- 24:06Speaker 8: like I jot down that probably might or may not
- 24:09Speaker 8: be interested to anybody.
- 24:10Speaker 5: But produces dimebag.
- 24:12Speaker 8: Deuce's dimebag didn't happen yesterday. But you know, I just
- 24:15Speaker 8: I would say Juju Douglas and uh and Thornton and
- 24:21Speaker 8: Osborne kind of with the top group, you know, rookies,
- 24:24Speaker 8: notok Hall of.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Fame group, not the Hall of Fame group anymore. When
- 24:29Speaker 2: Gronk and Moss.
- 24:30Speaker 5: And was separate thing with just Brady when like they
- 24:33Speaker 5: were doing special teams right Like Brady was like me,
- 24:35Speaker 5: he had no time.
- 24:36Speaker 1: For it was like this is the witch.
- 24:37Speaker 8: Veterans can actually play group, but you know, just for
- 24:40Speaker 8: people for for people wondering, you know, or always.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Polk and Baker in the mix with the not yet.
- 24:48Speaker 8: Really so that's one thing. It's you know, it's good,
- 24:51Speaker 8: they're gonna make fun of it. But I I just
- 24:53Speaker 8: I like seeing Drake may work with Polk and Baker.
- 24:55Speaker 8: After every practice they seem like they're out there having
- 24:57Speaker 8: a great Baker.
- 24:58Speaker 5: Fun of that. Everybody records like breathlessly on Twitter every
- 25:01Speaker 5: time it happens. No, like it does numbers.
- 25:04Speaker 1: So no, I just said that, you know, those are
- 25:07Speaker 1: the kind of things that.
- 25:10Speaker 8: Not that they're doing it to be showy, but I
- 25:12Speaker 8: feel like people use that almost like the no Look past,
- 25:14Speaker 8: as examples of well that was cool, this must be great, right,
- 25:18Speaker 8: and it's like cool things don't necessarily make me quality.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I mean, they want to have as much time together
- 25:24Speaker 2: as possible to get it. But like I remember when
- 25:27Speaker 2: the Texans were here for uh or, I don't know
- 25:31Speaker 2: if they were here, or it was just reporting on
- 25:33Speaker 2: the practice. JJ Watt would stay after practice with the
- 25:36Speaker 2: tire and like just myself doing those things.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Performative, and you know he was a little that way.
- 25:42Speaker 11: You know, I don't think this is performance certainly, whether
- 25:44Speaker 11: there was no no so one of the best NFL
- 25:48Speaker 11: the only one, just one of the best NFL defensive
- 25:51Speaker 11: linement of all time was performative.
- 25:53Speaker 5: But the rookie is working with the rookie receivers.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Does he does he really have to stay after practice
- 26:00Speaker 2: to like turnver?
- 26:02Speaker 6: You know, maybe that's why it's gonna be a first ballot.
- 26:07Speaker 8: I hear what you're saying.
- 26:08Speaker 6: I know you.
- 26:10Speaker 5: I just I would just separate the like the sort
- 26:12Speaker 5: of insufferable personality that you probably don't like with him
- 26:16Speaker 5: and actually working hard and being a good player.
- 26:18Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, well sometimes it was it was on hard
- 26:22Speaker 8: knocks what we're talking about.
- 26:24Speaker 6: And and I will I agree with you, but I
- 26:26Speaker 6: think they made him do it again, you think to
- 26:29Speaker 6: film it with it like I think they might have
- 26:31Speaker 6: missed it.
- 26:31Speaker 5: So it was like it was like the sun was
- 26:33Speaker 5: setting that that's going anywhere to go? Do you remember
- 26:40Speaker 5: the Tim Tebow stuff like when he was with the Jets,
- 26:43Speaker 5: and he'd have like you know, the you know, the
- 26:47Speaker 5: span dex top on and it be raining and he's
- 26:50Speaker 5: running like it's like on a like a Danielle Still
- 26:52Speaker 5: novel from like you know, Fabio days.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Right, the winds blowing is much hair. But you know
- 26:59Speaker 2: what I mean, I know what you exactly what you mean.
- 27:02Speaker 2: It was very dramatic.
- 27:03Speaker 5: Dramatic is a good word, dramatic. But I do like it.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I do like that he's trying to form some time.
- 27:07Speaker 5: I like our drama.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I like our drama.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I like it just it's useful drama.
- 27:12Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, but it makes forget no, it makes
- 27:14Speaker 8: for It could actually help them, it makes.
- 27:16Speaker 5: For great you know.
- 27:17Speaker 8: The final tweet Mike Reese, like you know, twenty minutes
- 27:19Speaker 8: after practice, you know, like those kind of scene center
- 27:23Speaker 8: right right.
- 27:24Speaker 5: I don't like this.
- 27:25Speaker 6: I don't like that Mike is off limits for the
- 27:27Speaker 6: rest of the media bashing. We do not do that toshing.
- 27:33Speaker 6: I tease Mike for that stuff all the time.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Is Mike still reporting on the music being played?
- 27:37Speaker 1: Or Oh, that's a good question. I haven't seen it.
- 27:40Speaker 6: You can't step into that territory or the people will
- 27:43Speaker 6: come after.
- 27:44Speaker 5: You, I know, but are like, that's Mike.
- 27:46Speaker 1: I haven't seen it though. No, that's a good question.
- 27:48Speaker 5: I wonder if he's a go's some rolling Stones yesterday?
- 27:51Speaker 5: Oh yeah, you know they are. Of course, they're here
- 27:53Speaker 5: here to perform tonight.
- 27:54Speaker 6: They usually they do that a lot, Like if there's
- 27:57Speaker 6: a concert, they'll play the music.
- 28:00Speaker 8: It's a theme, yeah, a theme going.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm over sixty, so I was offered a seat
- 28:04Speaker 2: up front, but I'm gonna go.
- 28:08Speaker 8: Yeah, I've seen the Stones. You seen the Stones? Stones?
- 28:10Speaker 2: You've never seen the Stones?
- 28:12Speaker 5: No, I don't see anybody you know that?
- 28:14Speaker 2: Really? I thought you used to go to concerts.
- 28:16Speaker 5: No, No, I've been to like two two once. You've
- 28:20Speaker 5: seen like both both under duress.
- 28:22Speaker 2: If you were allowed to be live at the concert,
- 28:25Speaker 2: but in a recliner with a remote control, would you
- 28:27Speaker 2: go that sounds nice?
- 28:28Speaker 6: I just.
- 28:33Speaker 5: I love I would never go see them in concert, Yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 5: some some close. I saw them after a super Bowl
- 28:39Speaker 5: a concert. No, No, but you're super Bowl.
- 28:41Speaker 1: It's a private their point of view, You're you're like
- 28:43Speaker 1: one of the band.
- 28:44Speaker 5: Though, right, And I just don't really love live music.
- 28:47Speaker 5: I know people swear by it like Matt Matt Smith,
- 28:50Speaker 5: I've had some will be staying here tonight. You know
- 28:53Speaker 5: it probably in the uh the AARP section that Fred
- 28:56Speaker 5: talked about.
- 28:57Speaker 1: But everybody's gonna be saying he.
- 28:59Speaker 5: Loves live music.
- 29:01Speaker 2: We were, we were at how many times has he
- 29:03Speaker 2: seen Springsteen?
- 29:04Speaker 12: Oh?
- 29:06Speaker 2: A lot thrown men about the Springsteen. Though Springsteen, they
- 29:10Speaker 2: have no right to make fun of the Swifties because
- 29:13Speaker 2: these Springsteen guys are just as bad as the teenagers.
- 29:16Speaker 5: Now, I will defend Matt a little bit. I don't
- 29:18Speaker 5: think you'd see Matt making fun of Swifties. I think
- 29:22Speaker 5: he understands the same along what you just talked to
- 29:24Speaker 5: me gets it. It's the same.
- 29:26Speaker 8: I got some of those guys, and they're about as
- 29:28Speaker 8: far from like blue collar Jersey Shore as you could
- 29:30Speaker 8: ever get. And I'd like if there's always a discons.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Well, if you've ever covered Major League Baseball, for example,
- 29:36Speaker 5: you're one of those guys.
- 29:38Speaker 6: Pete Abraham's been to like seventy gives you the set list.
- 29:42Speaker 8: Yeah, I never got it. I mean, I like, I
- 29:44Speaker 8: like Bruce Springsteen. I like a couple of the songs,
- 29:45Speaker 8: but I you know, I don't have a.
- 29:48Speaker 5: He just speaks to my soul.
- 29:49Speaker 8: I don't. I don't know.
- 29:50Speaker 5: I get to be honest, you you tease me about that.
- 29:54Speaker 5: I kind of I'm jealous of that that it doesn't
- 29:57Speaker 5: speak to me in that way. I don't hear this, Yeah,
- 30:00Speaker 5: and you know, in this desire to hear it live
- 30:02Speaker 5: and listening to Jimmy just here.
- 30:07Speaker 8: Yes, you can't hear Jimmy's perfectly.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I've been to a Springsteen concert with one of those people,
- 30:13Speaker 2: me too, and it's it's it's more a revival than
- 30:16Speaker 2: a concert. Like everybody in the whole place. This is
- 30:20Speaker 2: that the TV Garden is singing every song like it's
- 30:24Speaker 2: it's a revival. It's not, you know, it's like a
- 30:27Speaker 2: community type of feeling. I didn't care, but I.
- 30:32Speaker 1: When were you in New Jersey?
- 30:33Speaker 8: Like you didn't you live in Jersey for a bit?
- 30:35Speaker 5: Like it was when did a New Jersey team win
- 30:38Speaker 5: the title? Yeah, sixty nine.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I moved out of New Jersey? What was it seventy two?
- 30:43Speaker 8: All right, so a little bit before he was kind
- 30:45Speaker 8: of coming in. Yeah.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Now, no, I saw I saw Bruce in Jersey, which
- 30:49Speaker 1: is with some of those people, And.
- 30:50Speaker 5: This wasn't like a Bruce specific thing. I'm just jealous
- 30:53Speaker 5: of the people that feel that, like they that the
- 30:57Speaker 5: entered Mike Reese. Back back to Mike Mike Reese to
- 31:00Speaker 5: see all different kinds of people, very eclectic music taste
- 31:04Speaker 5: seventy four. He loves the live aspect of the music
- 31:09Speaker 5: and he just appreciates you saw the musicians and you know,
- 31:13Speaker 5: the ambiance, the atmosphere. It's lost on me. I'm kind
- 31:17Speaker 5: of jealous about like, I don't I know, you make
- 31:19Speaker 5: fun of me all the time. I literally I went
- 31:20Speaker 5: to a Journey concert when I was in college my
- 31:23Speaker 5: freshman year of college, only because everybody was going and
- 31:26Speaker 5: I had nothing else to do, and I was like,
- 31:27Speaker 5: all right, I'll go. It was a free ticket, and
- 31:29Speaker 5: under duress, I had to go see the Dave Matthews
- 31:31Speaker 5: band because my girlfriend loved Dave Matthews and she made
- 31:35Speaker 5: me go Oh's and that led to the and that
- 31:37Speaker 5: was the beginning of the end of that marching live
- 31:40Speaker 5: Oh that he's great live.
- 31:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:43Speaker 5: I mean again, I'm jealous of it that someone could
- 31:47Speaker 5: not actually hear that and say, oh, that would be
- 31:48Speaker 5: great if you're at.
- 31:49Speaker 2: A concert where you like the music and you and
- 31:52Speaker 2: you have good seats Yeah, it's it's fun.
- 31:54Speaker 8: I would say eighty percent of the concerts I'd go to.
- 31:57Speaker 8: By the time I'm there, I'm like, I can't wait
- 31:59Speaker 8: to get out of here. There's a small number of them,
- 32:01Speaker 8: Like there was one I saw at the Greek Theater,
- 32:03Speaker 8: which is awesome, sat thing, but that was it, like
- 32:05Speaker 8: good seats, sat down, not crowded, good music did wasn't
- 32:09Speaker 8: like crowded by tons of people and mosh pits and
- 32:11Speaker 8: all that.
- 32:12Speaker 5: But yeah, it's rare.
- 32:13Speaker 2: I don't cat it.
- 32:14Speaker 8: I'm the same way you are. Probably I wish I
- 32:15Speaker 8: wish I could go to a concert meeting. This is
- 32:17Speaker 8: an amazing experience with most of them. Kind of like, man,
- 32:19Speaker 8: I'm a concert guy. I've seen a lot of concerts,
- 32:22Speaker 8: music festivals, not as music festivals. I've retired from Newport
- 32:26Speaker 8: Jazz Festival.
- 32:27Speaker 5: No, no, yeah, I've retired from that.
- 32:31Speaker 6: They can't do music festivals anymore. That was my my
- 32:34Speaker 6: younger years.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Lollapalooza.
- 32:35Speaker 1: I saw a Lollapaloozer too.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it's it's great Woods.
- 32:39Speaker 2: It is fun.
- 32:39Speaker 8: So it's great Woods.
- 32:40Speaker 2: All right. So back to football. So Mike had a point,
- 32:45Speaker 2: what's on's the next open?
- 32:47Speaker 8: Practice Tuesday, Tuesday, which will affect our show.
- 32:50Speaker 2: He's the fourth.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Yeah, uh yeah, yeah, it's the fourth.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so we're gonna have to We'll probably start the
- 32:56Speaker 2: show late that day so that we can come right
- 32:59Speaker 2: off the field and talk about.
- 33:00Speaker 1: There you go talk about it, see some progression.
- 33:03Speaker 5: So, speaking of things that we just talked about, I
- 33:05Speaker 5: thought Mike brought up a good point. Ev and I
- 33:07Speaker 5: didn't touch base with you on this.
- 33:09Speaker 6: To see if you have watched practice separately, Yes.
- 33:11Speaker 5: But I think sometimes you get different perspectives when you
- 33:14Speaker 5: do that. The Jalen Hawkins guy, now he's not a
- 33:17Speaker 5: you know, a young guy. He's not. He's like a
- 33:19Speaker 5: fifty year guy. He's been been in the league a
- 33:21Speaker 5: little bit. There's a lot of talk not I mean
- 33:24Speaker 5: not a ton, but some talk about still searching for
- 33:27Speaker 5: that mccordy type free safety, and it looks like he
- 33:31Speaker 5: might be getting some opportunities to fill that kind of
- 33:34Speaker 5: wearing thirty two. Yeah, that's how this all started because
- 33:37Speaker 5: we actually, Mike and I determined that he's actually wearing
- 33:40Speaker 5: Devin mccordy shirt.
- 33:40Speaker 1: They didn't even watch it.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I like that.
- 33:42Speaker 5: I hate that even more. It's actually the same thing.
- 33:46Speaker 5: I think I have a problem with this.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Now.
- 33:48Speaker 6: Granted it's ninety man roster, it's it's it's OTAs. They
- 33:53Speaker 6: have to hand out numbers to everybody.
- 33:55Speaker 5: I get it. Nobody should be wearing thirty.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Two or eighty seven. Okay, well Fred, they should be
- 34:01Speaker 2: wearing proceeds. Yeah, I mean come on, like, where do
- 34:05Speaker 2: you draw the line?
- 34:06Speaker 5: I mean draw the line. There's only one number that
- 34:08Speaker 5: should never be won, twelve.
- 34:10Speaker 6: Anyway we're speaking up, I should be yesterday.
- 34:12Speaker 5: I'm not saying you have to retire it.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I'm officially yeah, maybe seventy six, seventy two, what was Hannah,
- 34:19Speaker 2: seventy three, seventy three.
- 34:21Speaker 8: No, we were doing attendance yesterday and Paul's you know,
- 34:24Speaker 8: calling out numbers, and I was like, yeah, I just I.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Just don't see twelve out there yet, like making the joke.
- 34:28Speaker 5: And yeah, and I go, we have I go, they
- 34:30Speaker 5: gave twelve? Weelve?
- 34:31Speaker 2: Who's twelve?
- 34:31Speaker 5: Like that's how little did you see twelve? O them?
- 34:34Speaker 5: I'm like, I said it like four times. I literally
- 34:37Speaker 5: said it four times. And I was like, they didn't
- 34:39Speaker 5: go out twelve.
- 34:40Speaker 1: And then you like the look on your faces like
- 34:42Speaker 1: oh you playing me like that, guy roll A Fred,
- 34:45Speaker 1: I don't like.
- 34:46Speaker 5: I don't like you got eighty seven either.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Just for the record, Yeah, I don't know that one.
- 34:49Speaker 5: But is there ever going to be a time where
- 34:51Speaker 5: you were allowed to do that? Like twelve? I get yeah,
- 34:55Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I'm over it. I'm forty. I mean love Devin. Yeah,
- 34:59Speaker 5: at least it didn't even played last year.
- 35:02Speaker 6: It's to me, Devin McCarty is bigger than football. Like,
- 35:05Speaker 6: I think Devin McCarty is like one of the best
- 35:07Speaker 6: people that's ever walked through this building.
- 35:09Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, and I think that there's and he's recognized
- 35:12Speaker 5: as such.
- 35:12Speaker 6: I think that in other sports that would be recognized
- 35:15Speaker 6: even bigger.
- 35:16Speaker 2: If this is not one of your argument, no one
- 35:18Speaker 2: ever should be Devin mccorty. I get that, But his
- 35:21Speaker 2: number is different.
- 35:22Speaker 5: That's just the way I feel.
- 35:23Speaker 6: I just feel that his number, like I feel Devin
- 35:26Speaker 6: McCarty is like one of the an all time great Patriots.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Agreed.
- 35:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I have no argument on that. I love.
- 35:34Speaker 2: But to me, the retiring of a number is here,
- 35:38Speaker 2: it has to be on the pantheon, it has to
- 35:41Speaker 2: be Mount Olympus.
- 35:44Speaker 6: You know.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Ring of honors are different. Halls of fame are different.
- 35:47Speaker 2: But when you retire a number, it should be the
- 35:51Speaker 2: elite of the elite for the team. Yeah.
- 35:54Speaker 6: I don't think Jalen Hawkins is gonna is gonna wear
- 35:58Speaker 6: thirty two in a game. I don't think that necessarily,
- 36:01Speaker 6: And but if he did, I'd at least like to
- 36:03Speaker 6: hope that he would like call Devid and be like, hey,
- 36:05Speaker 6: is it cool?
- 36:05Speaker 5: If I were you, this is like, really, this is
- 36:08Speaker 5: really getting fre it. I could just see Fred's face.
- 36:11Speaker 2: I dis.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Here's what one observation though from this stuff and related
- 36:17Speaker 5: to numbers, they clearly have gone out of their way.
- 36:20Speaker 5: In the past. There used to be numerous duplicate numbers,
- 36:24Speaker 5: and it wasn't just because of the rookies in the fifties.
- 36:29Speaker 5: There's only one set of duplicate numbers right now, twenty nine.
- 36:32Speaker 5: There's a twenty nine offense and defense. So you know,
- 36:37Speaker 5: part of that is you have to make sure that
- 36:39Speaker 5: someone's wearing eleven and someone's wearing thirty two. And absolutely,
- 36:42Speaker 5: you know, I totally agree.
- 36:44Speaker 6: Whatever else, I think, I feel the same way about
- 36:47Speaker 6: watching who's a tight end that's wearing it? Now? No
- 36:52Speaker 6: Will Cox we running around wearing eighty seven.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Do you think we'll ever get to the point in
- 36:57Speaker 2: the NFL where they have triple numbers, I'm number one,
- 37:01Speaker 2: thirty two.
- 37:02Speaker 6: Or like put a put a descipel point. Yeah, well
- 37:05Speaker 6: that might be thirty three point five.
- 37:07Speaker 2: That'd be hard to read.
- 37:08Speaker 1: But you just have hard work some letters and maybe
- 37:12Speaker 1: like I'm thirty two b pi PI, yeah.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Three point one four, I'm thirty two squared.
- 37:19Speaker 8: Oh man.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean like if people keep if Evan was
- 37:24Speaker 2: on GMS of these teams with all the numbers you've retired,
- 37:27Speaker 2: you'd have to get into the trouble.
- 37:28Speaker 5: No, no, I just think that there's a lot of teams.
- 37:31Speaker 2: I'm negative four.
- 37:32Speaker 6: There's a lot of teams, like the Houston Texans are
- 37:34Speaker 6: not going to have a bunch of numbers retired because
- 37:35Speaker 6: they don't have a bunch of Hall of Fame level players.
- 37:38Speaker 5: The Patriots are not one of those teams.
- 37:40Speaker 2: But if you were, you were, if you were, you know,
- 37:42Speaker 2: Art Rooney, you wouldn't have any numbers left in the Steelers.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Could you retire them all?
- 37:46Speaker 1: I no, No, you like the Steelers.
- 37:48Speaker 6: If we're gonna let all those guys in the Hall
- 37:49Speaker 6: of Fame, then wiring our guys in the Hall of Fame.
- 37:52Speaker 8: Yeah, although I say, I will say there are playing
- 37:56Speaker 8: some random Patriots games the last couple of days on
- 37:58Speaker 8: NFL Network, which I flipped onto the two thousand.
- 38:01Speaker 1: And one Space Odyssey a C Championship.
- 38:05Speaker 8: But it's funny because like I'm like, oh, Richard Seymour
- 38:08Speaker 8: Hall of Famer, Tyler hall of Famer.
- 38:10Speaker 1: You know, all of a sudden, just like that, you realize,
- 38:12Speaker 1: like and just like that, this is a this was
- 38:14Speaker 1: a Hall of Famer, a lot of Yeah, there was
- 38:16Speaker 1: a lot of talent.
- 38:17Speaker 8: It was as much as you kind of wanted to
- 38:19Speaker 8: be like, oh, they were all right, but now in
- 38:21Speaker 8: perspective they are one of the all.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Time great defenses.
- 38:24Speaker 2: And wait, which team was this?
- 38:25Speaker 8: Sorry one against Pittsburgh game was on, and man Cordell
- 38:28Speaker 8: Steort was getting frustrated, like he just I mean, I
- 38:32Speaker 8: like throwing those games on every once in a while
- 38:33Speaker 8: where you get the broadcast so you know, you get
- 38:35Speaker 8: the whole feel of the game, and you know, it's
- 38:37Speaker 8: not just like watching the highlights.
- 38:38Speaker 2: So I remember being at that game here at Foxborough
- 38:42Speaker 2: and the amount of Steelers fans that were here, like
- 38:45Speaker 2: just so confident.
- 38:47Speaker 8: Which game is out in one against the Steelers.
- 38:50Speaker 6: No, this on Pittsburgh, the Tory Brown and the part
- 38:53Speaker 6: he's talking about it regular season game.
- 38:54Speaker 2: No, when we played them in the playoffs. Oh that
- 38:57Speaker 2: was ninety six, Yeah, ninety six, when we played the
- 39:00Speaker 2: Steelers in the playoffs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The amount of
- 39:06Speaker 2: Steelers fans that were here, like and loud and proud
- 39:09Speaker 2: and they had their you know, their steel helmet on
- 39:12Speaker 2: and you know, the beer can on the top and
- 39:15Speaker 2: just like, you know, this is our house.
- 39:18Speaker 5: This is one I can't remember this because I was
- 39:22Speaker 5: here and it's one of my very foggy as a fan,
- 39:26Speaker 5: like you know, fanboy, it's one of my favorite games.
- 39:28Speaker 5: I go all Evan on this one.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Yeah, like that.
- 39:31Speaker 5: That game, it was incredible.
- 39:33Speaker 2: I think one of the fair was wasn't one of
- 39:35Speaker 2: the first plays the bomb to Terry Glenn.
- 39:37Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:39Speaker 1: You couldn't really see anything though, was.
- 39:41Speaker 5: Yeah, but luckily that bomb came in my side. The
- 39:45Speaker 5: one I lost was the Curtis Martin long touchdown run.
- 39:47Speaker 5: He ran around the end and then all of a
- 39:49Speaker 5: sudden we lost him and then we heard this like
- 39:51Speaker 5: roar from the other end of the stadium, like, I
- 39:53Speaker 5: guess he scored. It's like a seventy five yard touch.
- 39:56Speaker 1: It's been some huge plays that you have been in
- 39:58Speaker 1: the stadium for Paul.
- 39:58Speaker 2: That you never never saw see.
- 40:00Speaker 5: Yeah, but there was another game like that with the fog.
- 40:02Speaker 5: It was like a random Thursday night game against Atlanta.
- 40:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I remember that because you'll know too is ruined.
- 40:08Speaker 5: Oh I remember, Yeah, that's right, there was there was
- 40:11Speaker 5: stuff that you couldn't see in that game.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I remember skycamp You had to use this.
- 40:15Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, for a while in that game,
- 40:18Speaker 2: the only one the network could use was the skycam
- 40:21Speaker 2: camera because it was low enough.
- 40:23Speaker 6: Where what year was that twenty sixteen, fifteen, like somewhere
- 40:27Speaker 6: in that range.
- 40:29Speaker 5: Yeah, it was before Atlanta got pretty good. Oh, Julio Jones,
- 40:34Speaker 5: because Jones was there.
- 40:35Speaker 6: It was the game after twenty was after okay, Julio Jones.
- 40:39Speaker 6: Most Malcolm Butler in that game, And I think I
- 40:42Speaker 6: want to say it was twenty sixteen.
- 40:44Speaker 1: I think it might be seventeen.
- 40:46Speaker 5: Was Malcolm Butler still here in seventeen? Well, Butler definitely
- 40:50Speaker 5: got he got beat. It was an unbelievable catch by
- 40:52Speaker 5: who true.
- 40:55Speaker 2: L from Wisconsin. All right, I have a hot take
- 40:57Speaker 2: a number retiring. You shouldn't do it. I don't mind this.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Someone has d max number. I don't mind that someone
- 41:02Speaker 2: has eighty seven. In fact, I think it would be
- 41:04Speaker 2: cool if we have an established quarterback. They gave them
- 41:07Speaker 2: twelve as a rite of passage. Number traditions are way
- 41:10Speaker 2: cooler than retiring numbers.
- 41:12Speaker 5: I wholeheardly agree with that.
- 41:14Speaker 2: I thin fifty five they do a nine backer at USC.
- 41:17Speaker 5: The way they do it in college, I think is
- 41:18Speaker 5: the right way. Forty four at Syracuse is the special number.
- 41:22Speaker 2: And they kind of have to do that because they
- 41:23Speaker 2: have one hundred guys on the.
- 41:24Speaker 5: Team, right, but they're actually allowed to have doubles.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it was seventeen seventeen.
- 41:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I obviously wholeheartedly disagree twenty three with the number retired.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, the Patriots. I mean you can beat them
- 41:36Speaker 5: soundly that night.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Yea, you can disagree, but you're wrong, but you can.
- 41:40Speaker 2: I just you know, like I said, I'm four number retiring,
- 41:45Speaker 2: but it has to be reserved for just you know,
- 41:48Speaker 2: the best of the best.
- 41:49Speaker 8: Yeah, No, I'm with you, not good guys.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I think we're on Ti guys are great. Put him
- 41:53Speaker 2: in the Patriots Hall of Fame.
- 41:54Speaker 1: You know, we're team just twelve, right, like we just
- 41:57Speaker 1: will I'm.
- 41:57Speaker 6: Not necessarily even to retire thirty two or any I'm
- 42:02Speaker 6: just saying, like I it's like one of those things,
- 42:05Speaker 6: like like Tip's number is not technically retired, but no
- 42:08Speaker 6: one ever wears it, right, you know, like it's just
- 42:11Speaker 6: like it's that sort of thing where it's just like
- 42:13Speaker 6: if you're gonna wear that, you're.
- 42:14Speaker 5: Sure on that.
- 42:15Speaker 1: It's a weird thing.
- 42:16Speaker 5: It's a weird it's not in the book.
- 42:18Speaker 3: It's weird.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Like, yeah, they thought I thought it was. They stopped
- 42:22Speaker 2: doing it. They stopped retiring.
- 42:24Speaker 5: At Armstrong, right. I think Tip was before that.
- 42:28Speaker 2: No, No, he was still wasn't he kind of still
- 42:31Speaker 2: doing something.
- 42:31Speaker 5: I'm strong played when Belichick was here, I know.
- 42:34Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 42:35Speaker 5: Tip didn't play for Belichick.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 42:37Speaker 5: I don't know, but he was. I don't think Tip's
- 42:38Speaker 5: number hips last year was ninety three.
- 42:40Speaker 2: We've talked about this, Yeah, we have talked about it. Yeah,
- 42:43Speaker 2: but he was in the scouting department for a little bit.
- 42:45Speaker 2: I don't know how long that lasts.
- 42:46Speaker 5: Think it's but that has nothing to do with his numbers.
- 42:48Speaker 5: I know, but this is a stacy question, I thinkyeah, yeah, no,
- 42:51Speaker 5: I mean, if you could throw me that book.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I love.
- 42:54Speaker 8: I'd love to get firm confirmation because we've had this
- 42:57Speaker 8: conversation a couple of times and there's it's seems something like.
- 43:01Speaker 5: But I don't like maybe they're retired or don't time right,
- 43:04Speaker 5: And to me, the cutoff should be Hall of Fame.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, like pro football Hall of Fame. The mistake
- 43:10Speaker 2: was made with the Sullivans. They started doing this before
- 43:13Speaker 2: the team had ever done it.
- 43:14Speaker 6: If you get a number, that's right, Fred's absolutely, you know,
- 43:17Speaker 6: just I do agree with Fred's take on because they
- 43:19Speaker 6: had no they had no tradition, and they tried to
- 43:22Speaker 6: they tried to develop one. Like I love watching it all.
- 43:26Speaker 6: Flip through this book right now.
- 43:28Speaker 5: This is classic. I mean, instead of just going to
- 43:30Speaker 5: like the table contents, which would be easier.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Googling, it never really works out when tried.
- 43:35Speaker 5: I do not trust Google at all. I don't Google.
- 43:38Speaker 6: Well, yeah, I know that's yeah. No, no one's ever
- 43:44Speaker 6: worn fifty six ince tip.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Everyone's just afraid of them.
- 43:46Speaker 8: That hasn't even been retired.
- 43:47Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Nobody wants to tell them it's not retired.
- 43:51Speaker 2: All right?
- 43:51Speaker 6: Eight should be retired by five past five hundred.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Sounds like a good time to open it up to
- 43:57Speaker 2: our listeners. Alan is in Chicago. What's up, Allen? Alan?
- 44:05Speaker 8: I'm just not there.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Can't wait to get the new phone system. What's the
- 44:10Speaker 2: timetable on that? Matt Morrell just.
- 44:12Speaker 7: Got the last letters of authorization for our international numbers
- 44:16Speaker 7: put into John o'holler and up top.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Okay, and then once we have that, how long it.
- 44:21Speaker 5: Should be up after that?
- 44:22Speaker 2: As soon as vonage processes of that, So like in
- 44:25Speaker 2: ten minutes or.
- 44:27Speaker 5: And I mean I don't know.
- 44:28Speaker 7: I'll have long vanage takes.
- 44:29Speaker 2: It could be ten minutes, it'll be twenty days, all right, Okay,
- 44:32Speaker 2: so so.
- 44:33Speaker 1: It might be the end of the show it's inmin it,
- 44:35Speaker 1: but maybe not till camp right.
- 44:36Speaker 7: Okay, the paperwork has officially been filled out, all of it,
- 44:39Speaker 7: all right?
- 44:40Speaker 2: Triplicate can't wait?
- 44:42Speaker 5: Nice?
- 44:42Speaker 2: So when that happens, do we get a new contract
- 44:45Speaker 2: system or how does that work?
- 44:47Speaker 7: Yeah, you'll have a new screener in there, a new screener.
- 44:50Speaker 2: I have to learn that it's just a mouse. Still,
- 44:54Speaker 2: I still make mistakes. Eldred's in North Carolina? What's up,
- 44:57Speaker 2: Eldred bigg Day?
- 45:00Speaker 8: All right, all right?
- 45:03Speaker 5: It says on on for whatever it's worth on the
- 45:07Speaker 5: Internet that fifty six is retired, but doesn't say when.
- 45:12Speaker 5: But Bruce Armstrong it doesn't say when either, and Fred
- 45:15Speaker 5: and I were there when that happened, because that was
- 45:18Speaker 5: a mistake. Yeah, well I grew.
- 45:22Speaker 13: I grew. Brady number should be repaired or retire. Excuse me,
- 45:26Speaker 13: because he's the best of the best ever. I gotta
- 45:29Speaker 13: just greet you by mc cordy.
- 45:30Speaker 6: I'm sorry if I'm not saying you should be retiring.
- 45:33Speaker 6: I've said this multiple times. I've said I don't want
- 45:36Speaker 6: it in circulation.
- 45:37Speaker 2: We yeah, wearing it. Yeah, that's it. You don't need
- 45:41Speaker 2: to do the whole ceremony. It's fine.
- 45:42Speaker 13: He's one of the guys, one of the guys. He's
- 45:45Speaker 13: not the Joe like like Brady would. I gotta disagree
- 45:48Speaker 13: is a degree, okay, But Paul, you'll take earlier about
- 45:52Speaker 13: all the positive you know, people gonna change mine mind
- 45:56Speaker 13: still will be the same, because in short, wait till
- 45:59Speaker 13: the past, when the Buddhist plot.
- 46:01Speaker 5: Oh, I was just talking about Evan liked the practice today.
- 46:04Speaker 5: Last week he got a lot of static because he
- 46:06Speaker 5: didn't like the practice, didn't care he wasn't doing he
- 46:08Speaker 5: wasn't doing it right last week.
- 46:10Speaker 2: This week he is.
- 46:11Speaker 13: I agree with him. Last week, I agree with the
- 46:13Speaker 13: same thing. You got ninety players. Let nobody stand around.
- 46:16Speaker 13: They got to do throw, you know, especially him because
- 46:18Speaker 13: he needs some work. But if you come out like
- 46:20Speaker 13: I told Evan the other day, if you come out
- 46:23Speaker 13: like ever, say what, I'd be the first to get
- 46:24Speaker 13: my personal apology, be the first to do it. But
- 46:28Speaker 13: if he does it my way, I want the same
- 46:31Speaker 13: thing in return.
- 46:32Speaker 14: But it is I did.
- 46:33Speaker 2: But I'm more.
- 46:35Speaker 13: Interested in the wide receivers. Heard just this something about
- 46:39Speaker 13: Pope and Baker. So what about uh the other guy
- 46:43Speaker 13: they got Osborne, And I ain't worry about Pop Pop
- 46:47Speaker 13: Pop showed me something last.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Year Osborne about Osborne?
- 46:51Speaker 13: How they do?
- 46:55Speaker 8: I think he looks I was born, was fine and drills,
- 46:57Speaker 8: But I haven't really seen him too much in any
- 46:59Speaker 8: of the on the team sessions.
- 47:01Speaker 2: We've talked about the guys that have catched.
- 47:03Speaker 1: I don't know. He's been kind of invisible to.
- 47:04Speaker 12: Me so far.
- 47:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I think there's a lot of the guys that
- 47:07Speaker 6: I would just put in the same bucket that just
- 47:10Speaker 6: kind of looked all the same, and not necessarily in
- 47:12Speaker 6: a super positive way. I think kJ Osborne, Juju, you know,
- 47:18Speaker 6: some of the guys that are really fighting for roster
- 47:21Speaker 6: spots that are probably not going to make this team
- 47:23Speaker 6: practice squad guys, I mean obviously, Like I just think that,
- 47:26Speaker 6: you know, like I said earlier when Fred asked about
- 47:28Speaker 6: how you can see Higgins right now, the Patriots got
- 47:30Speaker 6: a lot of bodies at receiver. I don't know if
- 47:33Speaker 6: anybody has really separated themselves as like, oh, that's that's
- 47:36Speaker 6: the top flight NFL receiver.
- 47:38Speaker 5: Not that necessarily we expected that.
- 47:40Speaker 1: No, I mean, say what we will about Juju.
- 47:41Speaker 8: At least he looks different and he has a little
- 47:44Speaker 8: bit of, you know, some different elements to his game
- 47:46Speaker 8: than those guys who you and I think.
- 47:48Speaker 2: I don't.
- 47:48Speaker 1: I wouldn't put Pop in that in that group. He
- 47:50Speaker 1: moves pretty well, He's he stood out to me, Yeah, is.
- 47:53Speaker 2: He still standing out? But now I haven't. I haven't
- 47:57Speaker 2: any movie made a great catch from Would you come
- 48:01Speaker 2: if the season started today? Who would be your slot receiver.
- 48:04Speaker 8: Pop, Yeah, I mean if it started today, it'd probably
- 48:08Speaker 8: be Thornton and Juju.
- 48:10Speaker 6: You know.
- 48:10Speaker 5: And would you be disappointed by that that no one
- 48:13Speaker 5: was better than Douglas in the slot? Yeah?
- 48:15Speaker 1: Well, it depends on how big of a slot really has.
- 48:18Speaker 8: I mean, I think if he's a pure slot receiver
- 48:20Speaker 8: and he comes down, you know, comes in specific place,
- 48:23Speaker 8: if he's in every you know, if he's playing like
- 48:25Speaker 8: sixty six percent.
- 48:26Speaker 2: When I when I think of slot, I think of
- 48:28Speaker 2: that binky chain mover, you know, dependable on third down,
- 48:33Speaker 2: a guy that gets a lot of catches.
- 48:35Speaker 5: Yeah, would you be disappointed if it was him.
- 48:37Speaker 2: No, I'd be'd be great. I don't care who it is.
- 48:39Speaker 2: I just hope we have one.
- 48:40Speaker 5: I would hope that we have one better than that.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Okay, I mean, I I don't know.
- 48:44Speaker 5: I'm not I'm not disagreeing with anything the boys said.
- 48:47Speaker 5: And I was going to say they have three practices
- 48:49Speaker 5: to go on. I only have one, So I'm not
- 48:52Speaker 5: disagreeing with any of the assessments. I was hoping kJ
- 48:55Speaker 5: Osborne as an example, was going to be markedly better
- 48:58Speaker 5: than to Mario Douglas. Oh No, and I you know,
- 49:01Speaker 5: I don't. I don't know yet. Well, I was hoping
- 49:03Speaker 5: he's an NFL player. Pop Douglas is an NFL player.
- 49:06Speaker 5: We'll see, we'll see, we saw.
- 49:09Speaker 2: I'll go back to what I always say, Paul, you'll
- 49:10Speaker 2: make fun of me. If Pop Douglas ends up being
- 49:13Speaker 2: the slot receiver, then I'm okay with it because the
- 49:16Speaker 2: coaches will know they you know, they know what they're doing,
- 49:19Speaker 2: you know.
- 49:19Speaker 8: Well, I mean I get what Paul's kind of getting
- 49:21Speaker 8: out though, and like I would, I would kind of
- 49:23Speaker 8: make this comparison, like.
- 49:24Speaker 1: I like Pop as Danny A. Mondola. I don't want
- 49:27Speaker 1: him as Julian Edelman if that makes sense.
- 49:29Speaker 5: Well that's what he gets me, so well, like I'm
- 49:32Speaker 5: not willing to do. Yeah, yeah, I feel the same way.
- 49:35Speaker 6: You know.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Amandola was obviously clutch, good player, really good, but he
- 49:39Speaker 2: wasn't a slot in my mind, he wasn't the slot
- 49:41Speaker 2: receiver that I'm thinking about.
- 49:43Speaker 5: You know, well, he was a slot recet, but not
- 49:45Speaker 5: being slot receiver a bad error?
- 49:47Speaker 2: Was that, all right? And then before that it was
- 49:49Speaker 2: Welker and then it was Troy Brown.
- 49:51Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I'd say I want him to be
- 49:53Speaker 8: the fourth receiver. You know, I want when we go
- 49:55Speaker 8: four wide, I want him in the slot. But I
- 49:57Speaker 8: want Baker. I want Baker to be that guy. I
- 50:00Speaker 8: get it in a perfect world, you know.
- 50:01Speaker 5: But Everan just threw Dion out there, Like that's what
- 50:03Speaker 5: we're talking about, is Dion and Brown, Just like what
- 50:07Speaker 5: Mike just mentioned with Edelman and a Mondola. I would
- 50:09Speaker 5: like that there to be something like that. Yeah, yeah, No,
- 50:12Speaker 5: I think Pop.
- 50:13Speaker 6: I don't think Pop is a high volume guy just
- 50:16Speaker 6: by nature, just because I worried about Yeah.
- 50:18Speaker 5: Well that's why, Like I don't I don't question the talent.
- 50:21Speaker 5: I questioned the durability and the entirety, and like that's
- 50:25Speaker 5: part of being an NFL player. Yeah no, I don't
- 50:27Speaker 5: you know what I mean?
- 50:28Speaker 2: All right? Uh, if you want to see Toyota's best offers,

- 51:39Speaker 15: We're gonna get more. We're gonna get out. It's the
- 51:40Speaker 15: off season. We got to joy ourselves, of course. Yeah
- 51:43Speaker 15: all right, but guy, we're back on video. All right,
- 51:45Speaker 15: let's run through some trivia. As always, Send your answers
- 51:47Speaker 15: to Ebreo Patriots dot com. This first one's absolute layup
- 51:50Speaker 15: by Cassidy over here. So question one, who was the
- 51:54Speaker 15: last top three draft pick for the New England Patriots?
- 51:57Speaker 3: All right?
- 51:58Speaker 2: Question two?
- 51:59Speaker 15: What number did Vinny testa verity were for the New
- 52:01Speaker 15: England Patriots? And question three how many rushing yards did
- 52:05Speaker 15: Sony Michelle have his rookie year?
- 52:06Speaker 3: All right?
- 52:07Speaker 15: Those are answers. Are your questions? Send your answers to
- 52:10Speaker 15: Webree at Patriots dot com.
- 52:11Speaker 2: I'm sure we have T shirts.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Might get some new ones, something like that's a T shirt?
- 52:15Speaker 6: Guy?
- 52:15Speaker 10: I changed?
- 52:16Speaker 15: Okay, perfect, guys. Today we're gonna talk about out of
- 52:19Speaker 15: the top ten teams that drafted in the league, who's
- 52:23Speaker 15: gonna have the quickest turnaround. Let's just say, you know,
- 52:26Speaker 15: not picking in the top ten again. So let me
- 52:28Speaker 15: run through the list real quick. We got the Bears,
- 52:30Speaker 15: the Commanders, the Pats, the Cardinals, the Chargers, the Giants,
- 52:37Speaker 15: the Titans, the Falcons, the Bears again, and then the Viking.
- 52:42Speaker 15: So we'll just switch the Bears the second time.
- 52:44Speaker 3: With the Jets. Will do that, all right?
- 52:46Speaker 2: It counts all right?
- 52:46Speaker 3: So Chris, you go first?
- 52:47Speaker 2: Who we think? Who thinks?
- 52:48Speaker 3: Again? Now that top ten gonna change it completely.
- 52:51Speaker 10: I mean, I think the Bears are set up for
- 52:53Speaker 10: some success here with Caleb Williams, Ramadunza, both of them
- 52:57Speaker 10: just solid pieces to the puzzle.
- 53:00Speaker 5: There's still Dj Moore out there.
- 53:01Speaker 10: Like, they have some dynamic playmakers there in Chicago, and
- 53:05Speaker 10: they've continued to improve their offense. You know, they're very
- 53:10Speaker 10: uphill team. They like the deep ball. Cayleb can get
- 53:13Speaker 10: it down there. He also has some good mobility with
- 53:15Speaker 10: his feet. I mean, Roam another threat again. I mentioned
- 53:18Speaker 10: him already at wide receiver, But like you just think
- 53:21Speaker 10: about what they have for weapons and it's they really
- 53:24Speaker 10: do have the pieces to be a solid, solid team
- 53:27Speaker 10: this season.
- 53:27Speaker 15: Yeah, it's it's it's interesting because that's such a tough division.
- 53:31Speaker 15: You know, you got the Vikings who like they still
- 53:32Speaker 15: justin Jefferson there. Don't forget the Packers. The lines are
- 53:35Speaker 15: just a couple of plays away from being in the
- 53:37Speaker 15: super Bowl. So I'll put them there too. I'm gonna
- 53:40Speaker 15: go with the Falcons, and I'm not doing that because
- 53:43Speaker 15: of the Pennix pick, which I do like the pick
- 53:44Speaker 15: in the long run. I just think, you know, they
- 53:46Speaker 15: have the pieces there and new coach I like Raheem Morris.
- 53:49Speaker 15: I think Kirk Cousins will be able to if he's healthy.
- 53:52Speaker 15: They got they got.
- 53:53Speaker 3: Something to work there. The division is not too tough.
- 53:55Speaker 3: I think they can get out.
- 53:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:56Speaker 10: I also want to say that the Giants could do something.
- 53:59Speaker 10: I mean, it's a stretch, it really is.
- 54:01Speaker 3: At you think the Giant are gonna turn around more
- 54:03Speaker 3: than the Commanders.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 54:06Speaker 10: It's hard to say right now, I think, but overall,
- 54:09Speaker 10: I think the Giants, with the addition of Laite neighbors,
- 54:12Speaker 10: if Daniel Jones can somehow figure out how to.
- 54:16Speaker 3: Be who he was in twenty twenty two off the ACL,
- 54:20Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 54:20Speaker 10: I mean, we'll figure it out. But all I'm saying
- 54:23Speaker 10: is if he can figure it out himself, I think,
- 54:27Speaker 10: you know, it could definitely be a little more interesting.
- 54:31Speaker 10: They're in the NFC North, all right.
- 54:32Speaker 3: What about the Titans.
- 54:34Speaker 15: Will levis pretty solid rookie campaign. They got Calvin Ridley, yep,
- 54:39Speaker 15: they got the tackle which guy I forget Latham?
- 54:43Speaker 2: Right?
- 54:43Speaker 6: Is that him? Yes?
- 54:44Speaker 3: Yes, yep, JC Latham yep. So I mean they still
- 54:47Speaker 3: have d hot so that might be.
- 54:50Speaker 10: I think they they have a little bit of a
- 54:52Speaker 10: jo wide receiver.
- 54:53Speaker 2: I think it's hard to.
- 54:54Speaker 15: Just be as Ridley said, he's twenty six even though
- 54:56Speaker 15: he's twenty nine exactly.
- 54:58Speaker 10: I mean he did, he did, but no, he's he's
- 55:01Speaker 10: kind of up there. Same with the hop I don't
- 55:03Speaker 10: know if they have the speed at wide receiver. I
- 55:05Speaker 10: don't think they have the playmakers at running back. I
- 55:08Speaker 10: think they have Tajy Spears still at running back. I
- 55:11Speaker 10: think is one of their top guys. So who's again solid,
- 55:15Speaker 10: But I don't know. We'll see if he can fill
- 55:17Speaker 10: a void of Derrick Henry. I mean, King Henry is
- 55:20Speaker 10: still a beast.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Here's the question. Ever wants to know, Well, what the
- 55:23Speaker 3: pats We'll see, We'll see.
- 55:26Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 55:26Speaker 10: I mean, everybody's excited about Drake. I don't think he's
- 55:29Speaker 10: your day one starter. I think Jacoby is your day
- 55:31Speaker 10: one starter. Quite frankly, I think they already they still
- 55:35Speaker 10: have four quarterbacks on the roster. It will come down
- 55:37Speaker 10: to three. I think they picked Joe Milton for a reason.
- 55:40Speaker 10: They like what they see in Joe Milton. I mean,
- 55:42Speaker 10: they wouldn't have done that if they didn't want to,
- 55:45Speaker 10: you know what I mean. So I think that those
- 55:48Speaker 10: will be the three will be Jacoby, Drake and Joe
- 55:52Speaker 10: unfortunately for Bailey's Abbey, But I mean that's just how
- 55:55Speaker 10: it works, especially in New England.
- 55:57Speaker 2: I mean it's it's been a gone to the line
- 55:59Speaker 2: of so.
- 56:00Speaker 15: I will say, we're talking about trying to get out
- 56:02Speaker 15: of the top ten. Picking if a good season for
- 56:05Speaker 15: the Pats with like on paper, I think with the
- 56:08Speaker 15: division everything, you know, picking eleven twelve, like, that's a
- 56:11Speaker 15: solid season.
- 56:13Speaker 3: That's a good.
- 56:13Speaker 15: Turnaround, rookie head coach, pretty much a new team completely.
- 56:17Speaker 15: So I'd be fine with that as a Pats fan.
- 56:19Speaker 10: So I think that's definitely a positive outlook they. I
- 56:23Speaker 10: don't know if you saw this as a report said
- 56:25Speaker 10: that they're underdogs in almost every game. I think this season,
- 56:28Speaker 10: I'll take it. I think I saw that, which is
- 56:32Speaker 10: just insane. I don't remember the last time that was
- 56:34Speaker 10: ever happened in the NFL where a team is an
- 56:36Speaker 10: underdog in all eighteen weeks. But yeah, I think the
- 56:41Speaker 10: Patriots have a lot to prove this season. I think
- 56:43Speaker 10: this coaching staff has a lot to prove as well.
- 56:45Speaker 10: And we'll see what direction they want to go here.
- 56:48Speaker 15: Yeah, all right, Chris, that was a good one there
- 56:50Speaker 15: you know quickick, we're gonna get into it. We got
- 56:51Speaker 15: Mini camp in two weeks, right about two weeks. Two
- 56:54Speaker 15: weeks we had OT today Ota is about the week.

- 58:55Speaker 5: My son said it last night, and it's apparently a
- 58:57Speaker 5: very common term now. Of it's basic.
- 59:00Speaker 2: You like throwing up for grabs, You eat something, you
- 59:03Speaker 2: eat it it? He said, oh, I eat it that one.
- 59:06Speaker 2: And I said, excuse me, what language you even speak it?
- 59:08Speaker 5: Never heard it in my life. Well, but I just
- 59:10Speaker 5: assume it's one of those things that probably started on
- 59:11Speaker 5: Instagram and all of a sudden, you know, like I
- 59:14Speaker 5: might tweet about it, you know, involved in that kind
- 59:16Speaker 5: of I might tweet something, say I eat it it,
- 59:18Speaker 5: see what the kids do.
- 59:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I have no idea, but you don't know how
- 59:21Speaker 2: to spell it.
- 59:22Speaker 5: I would assume why E E T, But I don't
- 59:24Speaker 5: know yet.
- 59:26Speaker 10: No.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Yeah, Ate, that's another great moment from.
- 59:34Speaker 2: Matt. Morrell informed me that yesterday was five years to
- 59:37Speaker 2: the day of Andy Hart's last show here on Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Five years it's a long time ago. Time flies.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Huh, Yeah, I was. I got to witness a little
- 59:46Speaker 1: of the reunion yesterday. Paul got out there with.
- 59:49Speaker 8: Paul was a little bit worried because he's you know,
- 59:51Speaker 8: he didn't know what he was doing and going his
- 59:53Speaker 8: first ota of the year. And I said, well, you'll
- 59:55Speaker 8: see Andy and Giardi out there and then you'll you'll
- 59:57Speaker 8: you'll know.
- 59:57Speaker 2: You're I'd be like riding a bikey. Yeah, it was
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: already on his blanket, has sunglasses on, he had, well
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: I had sunglasses on.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: He's a radio guy now, but he had his just
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: we have we have trivia.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we have a couple of two or three trivia questions.
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: Little I hope they're not those, just like super specific
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: ones like at.
- 1:00:26Speaker 8: The steak last night and they get the meat balls
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: following up one, two punches tough.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: Don't forget the bud light and easy to drink, Well

- 1:01:19Speaker 5: Yeah, well he's losing the game to NBC. Correct, that's right,
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: because when you're this good, that ought to get.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: You a little trivia. Who was the last three Who
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: was the last top three pick for the Patriots? And
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: this year does not count?
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: The last top three pick was Drew that's right.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: What number did Vinnie Testaverdi wear for the Patriots?
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: Seventeen sixteen sixteen?
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Wrong, both of you?
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: Fourteen fourteen.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Wow, I'm shocked, Paul.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Of numbers.
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not a number.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: How many rushing yards did Sony Michelle have his rookie year?
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: Nine thirty seven, eight eight, nine thirty one?
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Oh, I knew, Oh that was really good.
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: That's a good guest by I was covering.
- 1:02:04Speaker 8: The team then, yeah, yeah, remember every one of those yards.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: I was too spein Fresno talking about the YouTube chat people,
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Oh I still haven't checked that out. Yeah, don't bother.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: But first he says, Yike's Fred says, I like that,
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Steve feels comfortable coming in. Andy's perverted voice in my
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: head immediately says, excuse me, that's what he would have said.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Here are a few fun facts about the troglodytes in
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: your YouTube chat. They are continually continually yelling, writing in
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: caps with exclamation points. They are ninety nine percent Evan fanboys,
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: emulating his style of haartoism, analogous to the Joe Rogan
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: fan base, big tough, twenty something manned children with keyboards. Uh,
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: and they hate you when you have non football talk
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: and clamor for you to instead talk about jerseys. Take
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: a look at the chat and you might be entertained
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: for two minutes before realizing it's the lowest common denominator scum. Listen.
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: Yeah, that is harsh.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: If they're fans of the show and they're listening and
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: they're commenting, they're fine with me. I don't care if
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: they write in caps.
- 1:03:14Speaker 8: I mean comment sections in general seem to kind of talk.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Dude, Come on, please, you know it's passion. It's passion.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: That's okay. As long as they care, that's all. That's
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: all I'm asking for.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: We'll talk jerseys, no problem.
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: So Evan fan boys, fan boys, fan men.
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: That's really well, they're big babies according.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: To But it's like the ben affleck. He doesn't like
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: those people.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Oh no, they're to get them.
- 1:03:42Speaker 8: They're always trying to snap pictures of them with duncan
- 1:03:44Speaker 8: stuff dropping.
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: It's pretty horrible bit that he did, honestly, and Jala
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: on the Rocks again, is that you know, who would
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: have thought?
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: That's what the saying, who would have thought?
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: It seems to kids wasn't gonna work for those two guys.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I really believed it.
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: It's not like they tried once before failed, so I
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: really thought they had a chance.
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: But my old boss told me a crazy story about
- 1:04:03Speaker 8: them that he was at like I forget what it was.
- 1:04:06Speaker 8: It was like some kind of presentation or something, but
- 1:04:09Speaker 8: they were in a like an auditorium kind of thing,
- 1:04:12Speaker 8: and he said Jlo and Ben Affleck were like in
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: the back just going at it in front of everybody.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: Well, were they at it or fighting?
- 1:04:21Speaker 14: No?
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: At it?
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, no, the good one, the good one
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: not fighting.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but he was.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: He was disturbed. I think a lot of people were disturbed.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: This was back in like the mid two thousands, so
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I think it was.
- 1:04:30Speaker 7: When the one day ago they are fighting over finances
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: and living separately.
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: How do you find it?
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Fight over finances?
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: You got a billion dollars?
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: No, what's the song? I got nine million problems?
- 1:04:42Speaker 8: J ain't one.
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: Nine nine one of the most rapist doesn't translate all
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: the time.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: It's sick. Well, they got a lot more money than
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: most people.
- 1:04:58Speaker 8: Well, wouldn't you just ge at this point you're both success.
- 1:05:00Speaker 8: We'll just keep your finances separate and don't worry about that.
- 1:05:02Speaker 8: You would think it's Yeah, she wants a little, wants
- 1:05:05Speaker 8: a little.
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: It's a little complicated.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: Uh, let's get to the ace sticking outline eight five
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: five pass five hundred. Patrick's in Pennsylvania. What's up, Patrick, Patrick?
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: Oh my god, Oh my god.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: The new phone system.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: The new phone system will solve that, I hope.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: But then when the calls dropped, they just won't be believe.
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: Yeah, at least they'll know there's no call there.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Like you, you know, and people can text us too.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: Is that the Yeah, I'm a little worried about that, Matt,
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: because now I have to pay attention to another device.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: You know, we'll feed it, We'll put more somebody on there.
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: Yeah, we need to.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: We need a co producer to monitor the chat.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Pick out the best, the moderator for the YouTube chat.
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: Yeah, settle down in there, be nice to each other,
- 1:05:49Speaker 7: pre and postgame show, the pan forwards, the best emails
- 1:05:51Speaker 7: over the hearty can do the same thing with text me.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Well, the hardy needs the help because he's not good
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: at fielding emails, but once he gets to them, he's
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: very good. He reads them. Well, well, yeah I heard it.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Sugg just doesn't find the email. Did you hear you listen?
- 1:06:03Speaker 8: I was.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: I was listening this morning.
- 1:06:05Speaker 8: He's talking about he's stuck in like some kind of
- 1:06:06Speaker 8: weird traffic situation, and so he just got out of
- 1:06:08Speaker 8: the car, had his wife pull over, and he just
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: started Hardy started direct in traffic, and everyone was like,
- 1:06:13Speaker 8: thank you, thank you, you know, like he just took
- 1:06:15Speaker 8: matters into his own hands, which I did not feel like.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: This is a story he sold this morning on the radio.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: It was pretty pretty funny.
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: I missed it minute.
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: JJ Reddick on the radio yesterday with that was one
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: of the most fantastic.
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: It was one of the most horrific spots that it's
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: kind of the definition of why I have no use
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: for guests in general. But the disrespect that he showed
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: for other people on that was who was it, JJ Redick,
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: who is a colossal douche.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: I listened, Yeah, well that's what he's doing. It's totally
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: uncalled for.
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: Yeah, what did he like? He was asked if the
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: Celtics were to lose, what would be a potential problem,
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: and he said the better team would have won that
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: the analysis that that the lead, the lead NBA national
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: analyst said the better team. So I guess there's no
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: such thing as an upset. It's never happened, right, And
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: no such thing as an upset. It's never happened in
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: the in the history of sports.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: He was being pissy.
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: F your guys. Yeah, and you know it was It
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: was just weird. And I'm like, listen, Mike and Tony
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: they aren't They aren't a lot of that stuff with
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: their reputation. And my bet is that he kind of
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: knew some of that going in. Well, fell girls, I mean,
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: ranked the coaches, they're all great. Anybody that gets this
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: far as great.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Well, somebody said it. That that's from somebody said it.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: It might be true. Is that he doesn't want to
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: say anything now because he wants that Lakers coaching job,
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: so he has he's being careful about being too opinionated.
- 1:07:51Speaker 6: You know. Yeah, I'm a JJ Reddick fan from his
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: playing days, but he that was not a good look
- 1:07:59Speaker 6: on his partner. It really wasn't a good interview for anybody.
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: But it wasn't a good look on his.
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: Part now and if he offered any sort of like
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: because he's like a really knowledgeable basketball.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Right better be if somebody wants him to be the coach.
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: But no, I'm talking about in terms of preparation and understanding, knowing, knowing,
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: knowing the details. He just didn't want to offer any
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: of it yesterday.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: No.
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: I think that he was going with the whole like
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: I operate on a plane that you guys can operate on.
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: So like me explaining to you another worships that might happen,
- 1:08:36Speaker 6: isn't you're gonna it's not gonna. You're not gonna understand.
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: In other words, you went to Duke, Yeah, there you go.
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: Nothing else needs to be saying.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: There it is.
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: Jason Tatum also went to Duke.
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: Nothing like that.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: So, you know, Blobby from Puerto Rico rights in. There's
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: been a lot of talk about how the defense is
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: going to be fine for the last twenty years. All
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: I've heard is that Bill was the greatest defensive mind
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: ever and that the defense was as good as it
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: was because he knew where to put good not great
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: players in positions to succeed and knew what to do
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: to make the other team's offense play left handed. So
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: are we now saying that this defensive staff can do
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: just as good as him? How is the defense going
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: to be as good when you didn't add any players
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: to upgrade positions in the offseason and Bill is no
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: longer with the team. What gives everyone so much confidence
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: that things are going to be fine? I just don't
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: see it, but want to hear what others think. It's
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: it's a We brought that point up on this show.
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: Yeah, well fine is it? Define is an interesting word?
- 1:09:38Speaker 6: Like no one's saying that they're going to be the
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: eighty five Bears, Like fine is fine?
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Like will they be as good as they were last year?
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: I think they'll have a chance to be better because
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: jude On and Gonzalez they're going to be healthy again.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: But you're are you factoring in the loss of the
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: greatest defensive mind ever.
- 1:09:54Speaker 6: This version of the greatest defensive mind ever or the
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: one that existed ten years ago?
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Well, I think.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Mike's fair point.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: I know, Well, the last few years it's been.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: You think they've had bad defensive game plans the last time?
- 1:10:06Speaker 8: Yeah, and they haven't had any answers for two attack
- 1:10:08Speaker 8: of Iloa they've just beat Josh Allen. I mean they
- 1:10:10Speaker 8: they've gotten lit up by the same guy as a
- 1:10:12Speaker 8: few schools.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: They didn't have they didn't have answers for Miami over
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: the course of bills.
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: They don't have answers for teams with offenses when at
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: his peak that's maybe they weren't as good.
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: I'm not but see now what Paul is saying is
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: they weren't as good a defense as people thought they were.
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't. You said, can they be as good
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: as last year?
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: I think they can?
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Okay? And were they? And so then my my follow
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: up is were they fine last year? Yeah? Okay, yeah,
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: so then you think they can be fine?
- 1:10:41Speaker 8: But I but I think it is one of the
- 1:10:42Speaker 8: great questions that you know, and I don't think any
- 1:10:44Speaker 8: of us are just like, how hold hum, he's gone, Like,
- 1:10:47Speaker 8: I think this is one of the great questions of
- 1:10:49Speaker 8: Bill Belichick's game plan defenses, identifying you know, like and
- 1:10:52Speaker 8: I you know, acknowledging that it didn't work so great
- 1:10:55Speaker 8: the last couple of years for you know, a variety
- 1:10:57Speaker 8: of reasons.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: But what's it looked like with that element?
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: What does you know?
- 1:11:00Speaker 8: What does Giromeo cook up with DeMarcus Covington. When they
- 1:11:04Speaker 8: look at another team's offense and say, we got to
- 1:11:06Speaker 8: find three things we have to take away. There are
- 1:11:08Speaker 8: three things that they come up with, probably not the
- 1:11:10Speaker 8: same things that that Bill might have come up with.
- 1:11:12Speaker 8: So I think it's a it's definitely a question. I mean,
- 1:11:15Speaker 8: I think you know, last year's team, they were, they were,
- 1:11:17Speaker 8: They had some pretty big injuries without Jude On and
- 1:11:20Speaker 8: you know, and granted they should have had better depth
- 1:11:22Speaker 8: at that position, but you know, I like Gonzalez is
- 1:11:25Speaker 8: the only guy that I see that I really feel
- 1:11:27Speaker 8: like he's going to be very good and take a
- 1:11:29Speaker 8: step forward this year. I have trouble making that argument
- 1:11:32Speaker 8: for Keon White, for Marte map Whu, you know, those
- 1:11:34Speaker 8: other young guys that we don't know, we don't know yet.
- 1:11:37Speaker 8: On those guys, I mean, and you know, even Gonzalez,
- 1:11:39Speaker 8: it's a little you know, tenuous, but just the way
- 1:11:41Speaker 8: he moves and he just looked like he got it instantly.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: So I feel pretty good about him.
- 1:11:45Speaker 8: But who are the other players that you think this
- 1:11:47Speaker 8: year are going to take a step forward and be better?
- 1:11:50Speaker 8: Like Jelani Tavai, I mean, I think he kind of
- 1:11:52Speaker 8: is what he is. He's a good player. I don't
- 1:11:53Speaker 8: think he's going to suddenly be great. I don't think
- 1:11:55Speaker 8: Jawan Bentley's going to suddenly be great. You know, Is
- 1:11:58Speaker 8: josh uj gonna play three and be able to generate
- 1:12:01Speaker 8: pass rush all on his own? I don't really have
- 1:12:03Speaker 8: much confidence in that. So I do think that they
- 1:12:05Speaker 8: have some some real questions. And I've talked about in
- 1:12:08Speaker 8: the past. Their whole defensive front is basically up for
- 1:12:11Speaker 8: contract next year, So Godshaw, Dietrick Wise, I mean, all
- 1:12:14Speaker 8: these guys.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Could be a good thing. It could be because they're
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: playing for.
- 1:12:17Speaker 8: So you're looking at you know, maybe we're looking at
- 1:12:19Speaker 8: next year. Where we spent this whole offseason talking about
- 1:12:21Speaker 8: the offense needs to be rebuilt. It's like, all right,
- 1:12:23Speaker 8: we got some pieces on offense. Now, Caden Wallace worked
- 1:12:25Speaker 8: out left tackle. I'm just throwing something out there that
- 1:12:27Speaker 8: worked on offense. But you know, defensively, Godshaw's gone, Dietrick Wise,
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: you know, I'm sure they can retain. But Judon is
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: getting up in age. Is he gonna suddenly play at
- 1:12:37Speaker 8: a high like, you know, fifteen sack level. I don't
- 1:12:39Speaker 8: really have much hope of that, so, I I mean,
- 1:12:41Speaker 8: I think the emailers kind of feels like he's like
- 1:12:44Speaker 8: finger wagging us, But I think we're kind of on
- 1:12:45Speaker 8: the same pad.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: I think a legitimate Yeah said, it's a question that
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: we raised on this show.
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: I think it's a legitimate concern.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: Yeah, the loss of Bill and Steve, Yeah, yeah, is
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: a legitimate DeMarcus coming to and yesterday about how he's
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: getting ready to call plays. He's never done it before. Yeah,
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: you know, Steve was the one that was calling the defense,
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: and so it'd be interesting to see how that goes,
- 1:13:07Speaker 6: because that's important, like maybe Steve would have blitzed on
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: a third down that DeMarcus won't blitz on, you know,
- 1:13:13Speaker 6: like or vice versa, right, and that those things can
- 1:13:17Speaker 6: might not. We might not necessarily notice that it's it's
- 1:13:20Speaker 6: a difference, but over the course of the season we
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: might be like, well, dang, they're not very good on
- 1:13:25Speaker 6: third down, and then all of a sudden we find
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: out it's because Steve was kind of good at this.
- 1:13:29Speaker 6: It was like, you know, spinning the dial on third
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: downs and DeMarcus Covington is still learning, and there's the drop.
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: Off, and the opposite could happen too. Yeah, he could
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: be better at it. Maybe you know, the defense plays
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: at a higher level and you're like, hmm, maybe some
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: of the play calling was holding them back or something.
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: You know, like that can happen too. Sure, But I
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: mean I'm sort of airing on the side of the
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: guy who won six titles. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: So I'm not just like saying, oh, well, Paul's just
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: saying it's gonna be worse because that's what he does. No,
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: I'm I'm judging it on the surface. I think he's
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: considered to be one of the best defensive minds of
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: his generation and they lost him, So I'm going to
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: assume that that's going to be a net negative.
- 1:14:12Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I just I think Kean White is
- 1:14:14Speaker 8: really one of the only real wild cards on the
- 1:14:16Speaker 8: defense of somebody who maybe there's something there.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: And I know yesterday Girod spoke of him, and there.
- 1:14:22Speaker 5: Was a lot of you know, when I talked about
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: the coaches talking, there was a lot of enthusiasm. Keon
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: White got a lot of buzz yesterday. Maya no R
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: Jerry Jerry, Jerry Montgomery, you know, spoke about Keon White.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: A little bit too, and uh, I think that there
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: you know, you know when he's just like, oh is
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: the reason why he was drafted where he was, you
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: know is how he started. And I think I think
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: they have some some ideas about him and some hope
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: we'll see if he fits in. I'm a little worried
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: that Evans thing is right with him. He's kind of
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: tweener that doesn't have it, doesn't have a home.
- 1:14:59Speaker 8: I am thought Girod's comments yesterday because they kind of
- 1:15:03Speaker 8: resonated with me because I felt like when Keo White
- 1:15:05Speaker 8: talked last week, it's like this seems like a new guy,
- 1:15:07Speaker 8: a little bit like he's just more talkative. He's got
- 1:15:09Speaker 8: a little bit of a sense of humor where you know, right,
- 1:15:13Speaker 8: But you know, even like with Mapu, it's like, well,
- 1:15:17Speaker 8: if he has a great year, how much impact does
- 1:15:20Speaker 8: that really make?
- 1:15:20Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: I don't know, I mean make where are they playing right?
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: Well?
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: And that's and then you know, and then you're getting
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: into the.
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: Question play yeah, but you can make an impact, right.
- 1:15:29Speaker 8: But if he's just kind of like Kyle Duggar part B,
- 1:15:33Speaker 8: like it's fine they already have I would just say last.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: Point is is that.
- 1:15:37Speaker 8: I think they'll be fine if Judon Ouch, John Jones,
- 1:15:39Speaker 8: and Christian Gonzalez those four stay healthy. I think I
- 1:15:42Speaker 8: think they'll be okay. They'll be they'll be competitive on defense,
- 1:15:45Speaker 8: They'll be able to, you know, hang in there against teams.
- 1:15:47Speaker 8: Will they be able to hold teams to six points?
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:15:51Speaker 8: That might be a little bit lofty, but I think
- 1:15:53Speaker 8: they'll be fine if those guys stay healthy. But those
- 1:15:55Speaker 8: are some older guys. Jonathan Jones, you know, Jude On that.
- 1:15:58Speaker 8: I mean it might be asking a lot. And you know,
- 1:16:00Speaker 8: was O Jay's year two years ago? Was that an outlier?
- 1:16:03Speaker 8: Or you know, is there another level of his game
- 1:16:05Speaker 8: that he can get to with Judahn playing off of
- 1:16:07Speaker 8: him again? And you know, if that works out like
- 1:16:09Speaker 8: it did two years ago, then then yeah, they'll be okay.
- 1:16:11Speaker 6: I just think emails like that, not to like pick
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: on the emailer, but like those emails that we get,
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: I feel like are concentrated on them winning next year
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: and I'm just not so like when I hear, oh,
- 1:16:21Speaker 6: like the you know, is the defense going to be fine?
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: Yeah? I don't know, Like how I no, you don't know,
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: but you don't want to take a step back. No, Like,
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: I'm willing to be patient, right, and the offense is
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: going to be a work in progress because of the
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: quarterback and all that. But you're just hoping at least
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: you don't go backwards on defense.
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: You know, Like, but they might go back they they might,
- 1:16:44Speaker 6: they might, And I don't know if it necessarily Like
- 1:16:47Speaker 6: some people will correlate it to Bill and maybe it
- 1:16:49Speaker 6: is correlated to him, but I think in a lot
- 1:16:51Speaker 6: of ways it might just be correlated to the fact
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: that they have another bad offensive year, and like they're
- 1:16:55Speaker 6: on the field all the time, and they're playing better
- 1:16:57Speaker 6: teams on their schedule. It is a very difficult old schedule.
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: You know, Aaron Rodgers is probably going to be back.
- 1:17:03Speaker 6: So that's two games now instead of scrub quarterbacks.
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: I don't know, instead of Zach, instead of Zach Wilson
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: and Trevor Simmey, and you play Aaron Rodgers twice, right.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: And I can promise you on this show will try
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: to be fair in our analysis of the whys.
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, yeah, I just think that it's this
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: year to me is just so much more about development,
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: and like we get these emails that are like, you know, basically,
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: how many games do you think they're going to win?
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: In twenty twenty four, we get a lot of those
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: I don't know, Like, I like, they might only win
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: three or four games, guys, Like I hate to tell
- 1:17:35Speaker 6: you that, but like with the schedule and the fact
- 1:17:38Speaker 6: that Drake May is going to be a rookie and
- 1:17:39Speaker 6: who knows when he's actually going to play, and the coaches,
- 1:17:42Speaker 6: I mean, most.
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: Of these sites have their over under for wins at
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: four and a half or fo or five and a half. Yeah,
- 1:17:48Speaker 5: like somewhere in that neighborhood.
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: So like.
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: When we don't answer eleven, I think people are like,
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: what no.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: I I was asked at one of the practices I
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: went to last week, and well, you know, what do
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: you think your ceiling is for wins? And there was
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: an audible gasp when I gave the number.
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: So I'm guessing you don't want to share it.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: Not yet. We haven't done that yet. We're not there yet, because.
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: I kind of feel the same way, like I don't
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: really want to.
- 1:18:14Speaker 6: The only way that I see that don't want to
- 1:18:15Speaker 6: say the number being higher than we all think, because
- 1:18:17Speaker 6: I think we're all on the same page is if
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: Drake Mays a star, right, Yeah, if he's c J.
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: Stroud, then it's going to be higher. That's my caveat
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: additions on the ground, change that will change. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: Now you have an offense.
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: Martin and London who's looking forward to watching the Patriots live. Second. Firstly,
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: great show, he says, thank you. Secondly, when I'm not
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: listening to the podcast or watching sport, my job is
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: a senior data analyst and sometimes my two passions come
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: together and I look at sports data. So obviously this
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: is for Evan. A friend of mine asked me if
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: I think shorter quarterbacks tend to target taller wide receivers,
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: especially in their first year, as it might be the
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: safer The discussion came from Marvin Harrison receiving targets from Murray.
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: I'm going to start pulling some data together, but thought
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: Evan might have some insight, but also access to data.
- 1:19:10Speaker 6: I don't wow, access to data, you don't, I mean
- 1:19:16Speaker 6: short answer, probably yes, but I don't know how it
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: would help in this context.
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: Maybe I don't know.
- 1:19:22Speaker 6: I think that there's an interesting conversation though about quarterback
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: height that I think I've learned a little bit about
- 1:19:29Speaker 6: watching the Patriots quarterbacks play, and you know, most of
- 1:19:33Speaker 6: the time when you talk about height, I think that
- 1:19:35Speaker 6: people talk about like throwing over the line and seeing
- 1:19:38Speaker 6: over the line and batted passes. But one thing that
- 1:19:41Speaker 6: I've noticed just watching May Milton, obviously Jacoby Brissett, is
- 1:19:46Speaker 6: just like how much bigger they are to generate power
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: on throws. Like it's not even so much about the
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: fact that they can see over the line and like
- 1:19:55Speaker 6: all that stuff. It's just that they have so much
- 1:19:58Speaker 6: more muscle and like just body to put behind things
- 1:20:02Speaker 6: that you can just tell the difference the way the
- 1:20:04Speaker 6: ball comes out of the hand. Like I think that's
- 1:20:06Speaker 6: different than what he's talking about, but like that, you
- 1:20:09Speaker 6: just see such a big difference in just there. I
- 1:20:12Speaker 6: guess athleticism, I guess is the way to put it,
- 1:20:14Speaker 6: you know.
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: And you know, like Rogers is a big guy, Like
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: people don't talk about that. He's he's a big guy.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: He's tall, and he's got huge hands, and like the
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: way he's able to just spin that ball with so
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: little seemingly behind it. There is a lot behind it,
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: but he makes it look effortless.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: Was a super athlete.
- 1:20:33Speaker 8: I mean, he is one of those guys that just
- 1:20:35Speaker 8: I mean, you could make up a sport tomorrow and
- 1:20:37Speaker 8: he'd be good at it.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Like that's he's that kind of.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: You just see the difference.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: It's he That's kind of how I feel about May.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: He's like six ' four right Rogers.
- 1:20:45Speaker 8: Yeah, Yeah, I mean that's kind of how I feel
- 1:20:47Speaker 8: about May too. Like just when you watch him, he's
- 1:20:49Speaker 8: just he's a fluid, big, athletic NFL quarterback kind of dude.
- 1:20:54Speaker 8: And you know, Mac never really felt exactly that, like
- 1:20:58Speaker 8: he felt kind of just the a B version of that.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: You know, you remember Paul Walter Johnson, the pitcher, Yeah,
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: I remember, yeah, back in the day. Yeah, I mean
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: he was he was tall and long and like he could.
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: It's like a nineteen hundred skuy.
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why I asked Paul. That's why I you know,
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: I directed it to.
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: Paul, like I have no idea how tall he was.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: They didn't think how many stone did he weigh.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: Let's see, Chad's his first time emailing. He's from Tulsen.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: I feel like this is a good question, but I
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: feel like we should have a stock answer because we
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: get asked it all the time. What would have to
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: happen this season to make you guys feel like the
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: season was successful.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: Spark you know, spark on offense.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Like guys, like, we've got our quarterback.
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: That's it, that's I mean, that's straight. He shows promise.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the bottom line. That's what the league is.
- 1:21:55Speaker 8: And for all the time we taught, like I said
- 1:21:56Speaker 8: at the top, all the time we spent talking about
- 1:21:59Speaker 8: the other positions. If Drake May is awesome, those problems
- 1:22:03Speaker 8: are all much less concerning than they are when you're
- 1:22:06Speaker 8: looking at it as quarterback as a character in the play,
- 1:22:11Speaker 8: not the lead dog.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:22:13Speaker 6: Right, We get this question a ton about offense, the
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: offensive line, like if the offensive line is a mess,
- 1:22:18Speaker 6: are you afraid to put Drake May in there? And
- 1:22:20Speaker 6: I just keep going back to the same thing with
- 1:22:22Speaker 6: that too. It's like, if he's a dude, if he's
- 1:22:25Speaker 6: a star, then it's not going to be as bad
- 1:22:28Speaker 6: as you think, right, Like, he's he's gonna make it better.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:22:31Speaker 5: What was Andy's line yesterday?
- 1:22:32Speaker 8: Oh, diamonds can't break it. Can't break a diamonds.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: I liked it.
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: A boy, you can't break a.
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: Diamond Andy's Book of Hard Oak Quotes.
- 1:22:41Speaker 5: I do like that. I do like that. After the
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: half hour of me making fun of him for it,
- 1:22:45Speaker 5: he's right hard Yeah, it's no. If he's good enough, Yeah,
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: well he'll be able to I think, stand and he'll
- 1:22:53Speaker 5: make the line right.
- 1:22:54Speaker 8: And it sums up, you know, ran I went on
- 1:22:56Speaker 8: a couple weeks ago where it's everyone's so afraid of
- 1:22:58Speaker 8: breaking every quarterback.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: And that was what instantly clicked for me.
- 1:23:01Speaker 8: It's like, the really really special quarterbacks should be nearly
- 1:23:05Speaker 8: impossible to break.
- 1:23:07Speaker 5: And that's what you have to do. If I see if,
- 1:23:09Speaker 5: like for argument's sake, if mac Jones goes on to
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: have a really successful career as a starting quarterback, then
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: maybe I'll rethink me too.
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:23:20Speaker 5: You know, I'm not talking about mac Jones specifically. I mean,
- 1:23:23Speaker 5: you know, I think you can go and you know,
- 1:23:26Speaker 5: sort of flame out a little bit, go somewhere else,
- 1:23:29Speaker 5: be a journeyman like Genosmaker, have some success. Baker Mayfield
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: have something. I'm talking about stud He went from looking
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: like he was broken to being a stud. Then you
- 1:23:41Speaker 5: know that that would tell me that what they did
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: held him back and he was good enough to overcome it.
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: That's how I look at it, you know what I mean.
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: And in fact, he wasn't broken, right, it looked that way, but.
- 1:23:54Speaker 8: He was just out of sorts and need to work
- 1:23:56Speaker 8: some things out with a new coaching staff to like
- 1:23:59Speaker 8: reset him.
- 1:24:00Speaker 13: Then.
- 1:24:00Speaker 6: I just think the biggest thing with him was that
- 1:24:02Speaker 6: they drafted. They drafted like a point guard that they
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: then expected to be like Michael Jordan, Like they expected
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: him to just like make everything better, right, and that
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: they never upgraded this stuff around him, like Mac was
- 1:24:16Speaker 6: not physically talented enough to do what Paul is talking
- 1:24:19Speaker 6: about and like put the team on his back like
- 1:24:21Speaker 6: he wasn't.
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: I mean, unfortunately for him, he was drafted in the
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: first round. What gets lost is he was the fifth
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: quarterback drafted, you know.
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: And usually teekehd overall not the fifth quarter actually.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: Fifth quarterback drafted with exceptions always our second third round,
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: you know, and sometimes even further. But if nobody gone out,
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: and when you drafted in the first round as a
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: quarterback in this league, you're expected to be a stud.
- 1:24:47Speaker 6: If you've given him the supporting cast, I think Mac
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: would have been capable of just distributing the ball like
- 1:24:53Speaker 6: brock Purty style to these players, but he wasn't given
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: that opportunity, and they almost expected him to be like
- 1:25:00Speaker 6: a level above that and to elevate everything for and
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: I think.
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: He wanted to be and he made mistakes and that,
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: and then he became scrambled eggs.
- 1:25:07Speaker 6: Yeah, like right, because he was swimming in the deep end, right,
- 1:25:11Speaker 6: you know, like he wasn't good enough to do that,
- 1:25:14Speaker 6: and so then it was like an avalanche.
- 1:25:16Speaker 8: Right. There is something interesting to me though in Mac
- 1:25:18Speaker 8: in that first year where it's like you don't know
- 1:25:20Speaker 8: what you don't know yet, and it's almost like you're
- 1:25:22Speaker 8: just kind of white knuckling it through your rookie season
- 1:25:24Speaker 8: and you don't have time to overthink too much, you know.
- 1:25:28Speaker 8: And and I think in a way that almost worked
- 1:25:30Speaker 8: to his benefit that first year. And then I started.
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: Agree, I think it worked. It was detriment. I think
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: it was false success.
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: I think they they overmanaged them. They didn't allow him
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: to make mistakes. He didn't he he never was able
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: to see what his limitations were and where, you know,
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: because he was just overmanaged. And I think it was
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: false success. Yeah.
- 1:25:52Speaker 8: I mean, I think I think we're probably trying to
- 1:25:54Speaker 8: kind of say the same thing. But yeah, that was
- 1:25:56Speaker 8: it was like a fool's gold season because you had
- 1:25:59Speaker 8: you had McDaniel's in his ear, and look, this is
- 1:26:01Speaker 8: exactly what you have to do.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: And he doesn't know any better.
- 1:26:04Speaker 5: And you know, I when when he.
- 1:26:05Speaker 8: Got to camp, but initially like he didn't he wasn't
- 1:26:08Speaker 8: looking at the ground, he wasn't concerned about the pocket.
- 1:26:10Speaker 8: He was keeping his eyes downfield, and I was like,
- 1:26:12Speaker 8: whoa this You know, it's it's similar to what we're
- 1:26:14Speaker 8: seeing for Drake May right now. So I do think
- 1:26:16Speaker 8: it's just a little cautionary that like just what you
- 1:26:18Speaker 8: get rookie year.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Yeah, there's there's some.
- 1:26:20Speaker 8: Elements you're getting, but it might be a little bit
- 1:26:22Speaker 8: different than what you're actually going to get down the road.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: I hope if May plays, they let him play, they
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: let him be made.
- 1:26:30Speaker 8: And it seems like it seems like they will.
- 1:26:32Speaker 6: I mean, it's just started doing no look passes, which
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: I can tell you that is like Drake May.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: I could see like if that was a couple of
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: years ago, he'd get finger wagged after the practice.
- 1:26:42Speaker 14: What do you do?
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: What the hell?
- 1:26:43Speaker 12: You know?
- 1:26:44Speaker 6: My favorite part of the video we posted the no
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: Look Pass, which I've watched approximately fifty times, is the
- 1:26:50Speaker 6: coaches behind him, and one of the coaches just goes
- 1:26:53Speaker 6: ooh like just like that, and like because they're all
- 1:26:56Speaker 6: looking like where is he going? Like with the ball,
- 1:26:58Speaker 6: because he's looking down the field and there's nobody open
- 1:27:00Speaker 6: where his eyes are, and so they're all like, oh, like,
- 1:27:03Speaker 6: where's he going with this?
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: And then he throws it in the I like that
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: he felt confident to do that. That's us like some
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: other players would be like, I don't want to show
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: up right, well more.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: So than the actual play itself.
- 1:27:13Speaker 8: That's all I kind of felt too, was just that
- 1:27:14Speaker 8: he has a degree of comfort that he can be
- 1:27:16Speaker 8: himself and do something like that in however many practices
- 1:27:20Speaker 8: this has been speaking of that.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: I guess Jeff Howe had an article today or maybe
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: came out last night about the vibe. Yeah. I haven't
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: had a chance to read it.
- 1:27:28Speaker 6: I've read some quotes that have been on Twitter, but
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: I haven't read anything good. Uh, just like some stuff
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: about how like Mayo's like shortened meetings, you know, like
- 1:27:36Speaker 6: they used to talk about Bill's like marathon meetings, you know,
- 1:27:41Speaker 6: and now they're they're doing meetings and uh they're I
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: guess called sprint meetings or like they're twenty five minutes
- 1:27:48Speaker 6: of like really hunkering down and they'll give them the
- 1:27:51Speaker 6: players a break and then twenty five more minutes and
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: then a break and so on and so forth. Yea,
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: so just doing things a little bit different. And then
- 1:27:57Speaker 6: obviously some of the other stuff is things that we've about,
- 1:28:00Speaker 6: you know, the pictures around the facility, you're different. Sort
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: of the vibe is, you know, we're not going to
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: keep looking back in the past and look at all
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: the greatness sun, you know, and turn the page.
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: Andrew in la I asked chat GBT what the Patriots
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: win total will be next season with the condition that
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: May would be a good quarterback and he played seventeen games,
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: It said they'd win eleven or twelve games. I think
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: this analysis is good because it's positive. Please be more
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: like chat GBT and Playkate us Evan well, like, okay,
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: so you're putting in that condition may play seventeen games,
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: meaning he's probably playing well, so you know, maybe they
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: do win more games because of that. And eleven, you know,
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: ten or eleven is an unreasonable although I still say
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: that first year everything, you know, even Peyton Manning didn't
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: do that.
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: Yeah, That's why I feel like even if he is
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: playing really well, you know, going back to like Justin
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: Herbert's rookie season, us and Herbert had great stats his
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: rookie season, and the Chargers system win games. I mean
- 1:29:04Speaker 6: they lost to the Cam Newton Patriots, like by like
- 1:29:07Speaker 6: a lot. It was like, yeah, yeah, but his stats,
- 1:29:11Speaker 6: if you look at him at the end of the
- 1:29:13Speaker 6: year are were really really impressive, but the team just
- 1:29:15Speaker 6: didn't win. Yeah.
- 1:29:16Speaker 8: Well, they always have social media, so that's good for them.
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: A lot of emails about movies. Still, people want to
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: talk about movies, but we're going to hold off at
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: least for now. Get to some of the phone calls
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: Nate's and Wellington. What's up, Nate, Hey, guys, how you doing.
- 1:29:34Speaker 17: I just had a question.
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: I was kind of pondering, you know.
- 1:29:38Speaker 17: Jacoby, I'm sure knows he's a gap year guy and
- 1:29:41Speaker 17: after this year he'd be done and I would be
- 1:29:44Speaker 17: looking to, you know, get with another team. Do you
- 1:29:47Speaker 17: think there's any chance if he's benched early in the
- 1:29:50Speaker 17: season for May, is that that might affect the level
- 1:29:53Speaker 17: of effort he'd put into his mentorship and may even
- 1:29:56Speaker 17: create maybe a toxic environment in the locker room.
- 1:29:59Speaker 9: Perhaps.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: I got to imagine that he understands that that scenario
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: is very possible.
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: You know, and like he's, oh, okay, well I'll hang
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: up and listen enough for you, Fred.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I got to imagine he came in knowing that
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: that's very possible to happen, and his mind is prepared for.
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: I think the mentor part of this is wildly overblown
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: and overrated.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: I think this is going to be up to the coaches.
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: Should be the mental to Drake May too. Yeah, you know,
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: become the player that he can be, And it's on
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: Jacoby Brissett to prepare as much as he can to
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: play if he's going to be playing. Like I I don't,
- 1:30:39Speaker 5: I mean, I do think there's a chance that, you know,
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: it's not great because like it's human nature, and I
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: kind of felt, I don't know if you guys, how
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: much you guys listened to Zappi yesterday. I kind of
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: felt bad listening to Bailey Zappy yesterday. You know, he
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: talked a lot about well, you know, they talked to
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: all four of us you know, it's an open competition.
- 1:31:02Speaker 14: You know.
- 1:31:04Speaker 5: I forget what he said, like, well, I mean, that's
- 1:31:07Speaker 5: that's what they told that's what they told us, or
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: something like that. It was almost like he was saying,
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: but I don't buy it because he knows he doesn't
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: have any chance to win the starting job.
- 1:31:15Speaker 6: That didn't I hope, So I really say, it's awkward
- 1:31:18Speaker 6: the quarterback he said it could.
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: Be oh, it could be yeah, and he just said
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: it's you know, it was awkward, you know, ZAPPI now
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: being he it's awkward. You know, it was only awkward
- 1:31:28Speaker 5: when you know we didn't know each other. Now you know,
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: it's just finally like well that I mean, and I
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: just I did. I kind of felt bad for Zach
- 1:31:33Speaker 5: because I think he'd be better off going somewhere else.
- 1:31:35Speaker 8: I felt similarly, but I almost felt like he was
- 1:31:38Speaker 8: not really aware of Like I don't know, maybe he
- 1:31:41Speaker 8: was just ignoring it, but it just felt like, no,
- 1:31:43Speaker 8: it was awkward we didn't know each other, but you know,
- 1:31:44Speaker 8: now we know each other, and it's finally like no, dude,
- 1:31:46Speaker 8: like these guys are brought in to like get you
- 1:31:49Speaker 8: out of the job, like you shouldn't be here anymore?
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: Do you understand that?
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: Like that's how you know?
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: It kind of was? It felt like, but who's Zappi's agent?
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: Is there? Nicole Leon? Who else does she have?
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: Any o?
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: Yes? She has bar More? Okay, a couple other guys.
- 1:32:05Speaker 8: Okay, I think too, like everybody forgets, like so much
- 1:32:08Speaker 8: can happen, Like I don't you know, I don't want
- 1:32:09Speaker 8: to speculate, but this sport is just it's crazy.
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: I mean, you never know.
- 1:32:14Speaker 8: I mean you saw in twenty sixteen Jacoby Brissett had
- 1:32:16Speaker 8: to start whatever it was, week three, you know, I mean,
- 1:32:20Speaker 8: circumstances happen, and I just think, you know, that's why.
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: I think he's still here. Yeah, is because I do
- 1:32:26Speaker 6: think that they realized that, you know, Kobe gets hurt
- 1:32:30Speaker 6: my theory, and we're not ready to put Drake in yet, right, Yeah,
- 1:32:33Speaker 6: we're not gonna put Milton in.
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: Like where are we going to go from there?
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: If we're hell bent on Drake doesn't play for X
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: amount of weeks, you better have a bad better have
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: a backup that can play, right, Yeah? Weird?
- 1:32:43Speaker 8: Did all the miltone wasn't there yesterday? I mean, I
- 1:32:44Speaker 8: don't really want to speculate it could have been like, oh,
- 1:32:46Speaker 8: we had to graduate or something, but like that's what
- 1:32:48Speaker 8: I heared.
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: It was, but that's total speculation. Yeah, but yeah, I
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: don't know.
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: Ben didn't get to watch him.
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: The first thing that we thought that Andy and I
- 1:32:58Speaker 5: mentioned was the graduation. But I mean, I suppose it's individual,
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: like if you've nowadays, you even have to go like
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: there's so many different ways. Plus he's been in college
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: for a while, right.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: He should be graduated two years ago.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: Actually, Ericson Holbrook, what's up? Eric? Eric, I'm Mark. I'm sorry,
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: Mark good.
- 1:33:22Speaker 12: Finally, I'm pretty a sou for a very very very
- 1:33:26Speaker 12: very long time. That's how it called. Okay, But my
- 1:33:29Speaker 12: biggest con is, my biggest trouble is that I know
- 1:33:32Speaker 12: Freak May's not gonna stop.
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: You know that I know that he ain't stopping.
- 1:33:38Speaker 12: The season I played, I played with Steve Gogin' Sevy
- 1:33:42Speaker 12: Pro team, and I do a lot of jobs for.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: Oh inside knowledge?
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: All right, So were you giving us inside knowledge like
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: you talked to the coaches or something. I'm being serious, Well,
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: how do you work for running Roland James Rock?
- 1:33:59Speaker 15: So No, I've been I'm a wife.
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: Fan, so okay, But as far as the cod.
- 1:34:08Speaker 10: What does he do better than that?
- 1:34:10Speaker 12: That's what I'm trying to figure out because I've been watching.
- 1:34:12Speaker 6: Real better arms, more athletic, more experience, Yeah, more experience.
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: I don't think he's more athletic, but everything else I
- 1:34:19Speaker 5: would agree with him.
- 1:34:21Speaker 13: He doesn't move around with.
- 1:34:22Speaker 5: He doesn't move well in the pocket. He's not a
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: good runner, but he's much bigger, much stronger, can drive
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: the ball downfield.
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: But you know, at the end of the day, Bailey
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: Zappi might be a better quarterback than Jacoby Brissett.
- 1:34:34Speaker 12: I think it'd be a huge mistake to get rid
- 1:34:36Speaker 12: of them because we don't even know about Jako.
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: No, we do know about Jacoby Brissett, and that's why
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: he's here. Yeah, I think, yeah, I think Bailey Zappi
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: wants to be a starter in this league. And I
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: don't blame him in the you know, I think he won't.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: My prediction is he won't be here at the end
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: of the season.
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: He's gonna be here training.
- 1:34:59Speaker 17: Last we all go off that last game against I
- 1:35:03Speaker 17: mean they had no hero Henry he played.
- 1:35:05Speaker 6: With that line.
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: We're talking about Zappi again.
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: Zapi had plenty of bad games. Yeah, we've we've seen
- 1:35:12Speaker 6: plenty of He's played eight games.
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: A couple of them were pretty good, a couple of
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: them were really really bad, and the rest of them
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: were met. I mean that's I mean, he's only played
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: eight games. I'm not saying that that's the end of
- 1:35:22Speaker 5: his career, but I mean he but like, yeah, I know, sure,
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: And it looked the same exact when Mac Jones was playing.
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: It was bad, it was bad. He threw a lot
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: of interceptions. He was bad. He had three touchdowns in
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: the half, right, and then how do you do in
- 1:35:39Speaker 5: the second half?
- 1:35:41Speaker 12: Well, they kind of held him back.
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, yeah, they held him back by him throwing interceptions.
- 1:35:48Speaker 5: That was that, that was the held's back part. He
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: actually held the Steelers back into the game by throwing
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: a pick that set up a touchdown. Okay, let's go
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: back to said how does he do with that off
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: the line, and we'll see we haven't seen him play.
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: Well, that's the different team this year we got.
- 1:36:06Speaker 5: I think we get better receive this year. Well, I
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: don't know. I mean we'll see, I mean, we'll see
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: if the two rookies are any good, But other than that,
- 1:36:14Speaker 5: it's the same.
- 1:36:14Speaker 6: I don't understand why it doesn't really matter.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: I can't.
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: This is not one I had on my bingo. Car
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: I agree with you, thanks Mark. Totally irrelevant.
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: No, I mean there's Bailey Zappy people out there, but
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: that's fine. Like you know, debating Jacoby said for his
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: Bailey Zappi to me is kind of wasting time.
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: Who cares? Who cares what the right answer is?
- 1:36:34Speaker 6: It's yeah, it's something to do with like them personally.
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: It's just.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: Yeah, attracted that like a superstition, never comes to the
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: same door you left it never come back came and
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: how that door came back in this I just it's
- 1:36:50Speaker 5: like a Brady Bunch thing. I think it's irrelevant which
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: one's better between those two. That's my point. Who cares
- 1:36:56Speaker 5: what the right answer is?
- 1:36:57Speaker 6: Yeah, Like I can make an argument for Bailey Zappi,
- 1:36:59Speaker 6: I make an argument for Jacoby Brissett.
- 1:37:01Speaker 5: But ultimately you don't want either one of them playing
- 1:37:03Speaker 5: long term for your team.
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: But if the question is which backup would be more
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: upset about losing his job to May, I would say
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: that would be Zappy. Like Zappy, I think Jacoby Brissett
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: knows his role. I think Zappie wants to be a
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: starter in this league.
- 1:37:21Speaker 6: At least wants to compete to be in start.
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so Chester's in Portland. What's up? Chester?
- 1:37:29Speaker 12: God, what's going on?
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: We're doing all right, doing all right? Buying apparel you know,
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: n Well, let's.
- 1:37:36Speaker 12: Get those number ten jerseys either altered or body bull
- 1:37:39Speaker 12: stops Because you know, feeling pretty optimistic about what's coming
- 1:37:42Speaker 12: up and a good day for me, I'm going in
- 1:37:45Speaker 12: to work a little way. I just really wanted to
- 1:37:48Speaker 12: talk into the the point about what's going to modify
- 1:37:51Speaker 12: this being a successful season. And you know, I think
- 1:37:54Speaker 12: we're so caught up in the quarterback change and what's
- 1:37:56Speaker 12: you know, what's to come, But I think it really
- 1:37:59Speaker 12: starts and ends with the coaching staff and if we're
- 1:38:02Speaker 12: gonna have some sort of continuity, what Male was gonna
- 1:38:05Speaker 12: do in situational you know, moments in the football game.
- 1:38:08Speaker 12: I was gonna lead this team and ultimately, you know,
- 1:38:11Speaker 12: the team's gonna bring back a great equality that's gonna
- 1:38:14Speaker 12: make us relevant and you know, possibly be a difference
- 1:38:17Speaker 12: in a in a defensive battle or a game that's
- 1:38:19Speaker 12: gonna be Cloke. Uh, you know, that's what I'm looking for.
- 1:38:22Speaker 12: I'm looking for character and for this team to be
- 1:38:25Speaker 12: relevant and really starting with the coaching, the coaching staff.
- 1:38:29Speaker 12: You know, I'm excited about Sam Pelt, But you know
- 1:38:32Speaker 12: what was the last time season was no a great
- 1:38:34Speaker 12: quarterback play is auto graam. I mean, you know, I'm
- 1:38:37Speaker 12: wondering what is going to bring to the quarterback room
- 1:38:40Speaker 12: in helping me to develop. I'm in the board of thinking,
- 1:38:43Speaker 12: you know, we need to seper set a little longer
- 1:38:45Speaker 12: than you know, a month or so and let this
- 1:38:48Speaker 12: kid really learn, get the playbooks down. But overall, guys,
- 1:38:51Speaker 12: I'm optimistic. I'm really excited about you know, the guys
- 1:38:55Speaker 12: coming in and I hope this offensive line could take
- 1:38:57Speaker 12: a few steps forward. You know, to me that what
- 1:39:00Speaker 12: Reilly rapid terms of me saying, yeah, Jack, I'm I'm
- 1:39:03Speaker 12: looking forward to seeing what next season can be. Uh,
- 1:39:05Speaker 12: you know, Boston playoffs and anything beyond that. You know,
- 1:39:09Speaker 12: of positives will be silver lining and gravy in my opinion,
- 1:39:13Speaker 12: But you know, I'm excited of the season. Thank you
- 1:39:15Speaker 12: for all the off season coverage. I listened every time.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: Just good to get a chance to fall in take
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: it easy, all right, thanks Schester Chester is a long
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: time listener, and he used to call in, and you
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: have these pep talks, and there was one I forget why,
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: but you know, Patriots Nation needed a pep talk, and
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: he ended it with buy apparel and it went down.
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: And as I marched to a trumpet, right, I know
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: it was tough. They they lost the game.
- 1:39:43Speaker 6: You're the one that wanted to move on from it,
- 1:39:44Speaker 6: that's right, he read. He reads the show notes, and
- 1:39:51Speaker 6: the North remembers Nor remembers.
- 1:39:54Speaker 13: Uh.
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: Pete Otowell writes in I've emailed before about listening to
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: old podcasts, which, by the way, are still very interesting.
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: Oh God, especially knowing the outcome of the season. I
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: just listened to when Mike was in Vegas for the
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: joint practices August twenty twenty two. I had forgotten how
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: miserable he sounded. Paul showed that he can be a
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: good person when he wants to be. He was very
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: sympathetic and tried to make Mike feel better. That practice
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: must have been when Mike realized they were doomed.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: I'm having trouble remembering being miserable well that.
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: That it was one of the practices that they were
- 1:40:28Speaker 5: making plays all over the Patriots and DeVante Adams.
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: But nobody was happy and that joint because it was
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: it was week two of being on the road, and
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: even the players like, we just want.
- 1:40:39Speaker 10: To go home.
- 1:40:39Speaker 5: It was like one hundred and ten degrees. I mean,
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: I remember that stuff, but I do remember. I think
- 1:40:44Speaker 5: it was week two of being on the road. I
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: think it was Trent Brown just want to go on
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: the road. But they went to joint practices in Vegas.
- 1:40:50Speaker 5: They played a game, But.
- 1:40:51Speaker 8: Don't you remember the last couple team sessions I thought
- 1:40:54Speaker 8: were actually kind of positive, like.
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: They went back and forth with them.
- 1:40:57Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, they I mean I think maybe Henry, you know,
- 1:41:01Speaker 8: they're just doing two minute offense right, you know at
- 1:41:03Speaker 8: the end eleven on eleven. But I was enamored of
- 1:41:06Speaker 8: Devonte Adams just watching him in drills after, you know,
- 1:41:09Speaker 8: having watched Patriots receivers for a while and you're like,
- 1:41:11Speaker 8: this is what a stud looks like. And they remember
- 1:41:14Speaker 8: a rep against Jalen Mills where it was just up
- 1:41:16Speaker 8: the sideline and all of a sudden he just went
- 1:41:18Speaker 8: hammered down goodbye and just like ran right by him.
- 1:41:22Speaker 8: You know, even Hunter Renfrod was kind of still impressive.
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: At that Hunter Renfro and De Monte Adams, you know,
- 1:41:28Speaker 6: even like what you know, it was clear watching those
- 1:41:30Speaker 6: practices that even the Raiders, like their top end talent
- 1:41:33Speaker 6: was just like Max Crosby obviously on the other side,
- 1:41:36Speaker 6: like they just had much better their top five of
- 1:41:40Speaker 6: their roster and was just much better than the Patriots.
- 1:41:42Speaker 8: The walk to in and outs was stands out most
- 1:41:44Speaker 8: we having and I were like, we went buy an
- 1:41:45Speaker 8: in and out and it seemed like it was close,
- 1:41:46Speaker 8: and then we just started walking.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: We were like in the desert, like a waste lang.
- 1:41:50Speaker 8: There's like tumbleweeds and radle states going by, Like we're
- 1:41:53Speaker 8: gonna get that double double I promise.
- 1:41:55Speaker 5: Is that like at the meadow Lands. I remember the
- 1:41:58Speaker 5: old statistician Roger Fred Yeah, had across like Route three.
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: But the thing about it, so you have the Giant
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: stadium and the hotel and it looks like, oh it's closed,
- 1:42:13Speaker 2: but there's like it's like a maze of highways in between,
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: and there's this guy, you know, three hundred pounds, you know,
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: overweight guy with his like old style briefcase trying to
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: cross these highways sweat, and people are screaming at him
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: new idiots yourself killed, beeping their horns. Oh, he said
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: it was the most frightening thing he ever did. Where
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: was he trying to get? He's trying to get from
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: a hotel in Jersey.
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: To the to the medal was just trying to walk
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: to the medalands.
- 1:42:40Speaker 5: But you could walk like we we originally used to
- 1:42:43Speaker 5: stay at like a metal land Sheridan, I think, yeah,
- 1:42:46Speaker 5: and it was walking distance, but it wasn't walkable, if
- 1:42:49Speaker 5: that makes sense.
- 1:42:49Speaker 4: Yeah, it's all high its maze of highways, and he
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: somehow didst like you, you take a wrong exit on
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: that maze and you're you're thy minutes.
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: But thinking about think about walking across all those highways.
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: You can't do it. And he did it barely. He's
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: because he's like, oh, I'll just walk. It's right over there.
- 1:43:11Speaker 5: That stadium stinks, yeah.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: For what they paid for it.
- 1:43:15Speaker 5: Even area around it stinks.
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: The stadium. That's where I saw Bruce.
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: I saw Bruce there the what was it the Continental
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: Airlines Arena?
- 1:43:21Speaker 6: The Devil air conditioning like it looks like an air
- 1:43:25Speaker 6: like one of those old well.
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: When they built the stadium, they ran out of money.
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: But when they built it, the whole idea with those
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: slats is they they were they'd move in depending on
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: whether it's the Giants or the Jets, that the stadium
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: would have a completely different look. And they never never
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: got to that point they ran out of money.
- 1:43:41Speaker 8: Yeah, probably getting old. Now what was that like two
- 1:43:44Speaker 8: thousand and seven, thousand and eight somewhere around there. I
- 1:43:46Speaker 8: feel like maybe time goes by.
- 1:43:49Speaker 6: It's just like I always say to people about the Meadlands.
- 1:43:52Speaker 6: It's like if Lego built like football stadium, like that
- 1:43:56Speaker 6: is what the medal like. It's just such a generic
- 1:44:00Speaker 6: you know. What's funny is the old Medal Lands was phenomenal,
- 1:44:02Speaker 6: like for its time. The New Metal Lands is terrible,
- 1:44:05Speaker 6: well for its time.
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: Some of the amenities like we don't get to see them.
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: But the club spaces are nice.
- 1:44:11Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: They were one of the first teams to be inventive
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: with where they put clubs. You know, they had one
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: on the sideline and different levels of you know, because
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: they wanted to maximize the corporate base in New Jersey
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: and New York.
- 1:44:23Speaker 5: It's so yeah, yeah, it's sterile.
- 1:44:26Speaker 8: Yeah, that's what I hate about it, like they've become
- 1:44:29Speaker 8: all like that, Like even like the old Boston Garden,
- 1:44:31Speaker 8: like it just had such a feel to it and character,
- 1:44:34Speaker 8: and so few professional sports arenas stadiums have any kind
- 1:44:39Speaker 8: of character.
- 1:44:40Speaker 6: You know. What's a big topic. Actually, you know what
- 1:44:42Speaker 6: arena has that?
- 1:44:43Speaker 5: Your place?
- 1:44:44Speaker 8: Which one?
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: Indiana Indian Indiana basketball. Yeah, we actually one of the best.
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: Scouting the Pacers. No, that was fun.
- 1:44:52Speaker 5: We had fun. That's a great place to watch a game.
- 1:44:55Speaker 8: But it's got And when we were there, Paul and
- 1:44:57Speaker 8: I was like, I don't even know what this means.
- 1:44:59Speaker 8: When I'm like, it feels like a fieldhouse and I
- 1:45:01Speaker 8: don't know why.
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: That means, Like it's just it kind of has that
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: game a lot of names.
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: I will do a cap tip to baseball. A lot
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: of the baseball parks have that good A little bit.
- 1:45:13Speaker 5: That's a good, that's a good. That's camping yards was
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: the original they started it.
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but even but even the new ones seem to
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: have they understand that, they understand that.
- 1:45:23Speaker 8: But now it's like even this stadium and Tennessee kind
- 1:45:26Speaker 8: of the same same thing.
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: You wouldn't know where you are.
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: Too many, you know, like at least this has some
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: characteristics like the medal is just like this, like as
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: Eric Eric Evan said, just kind of generic, like an
- 1:45:41Speaker 5: Erector set.
- 1:45:43Speaker 8: Real quick though, speaking of en if you guys watched
- 1:45:45Speaker 8: the p w h L final last night, Boston lost unfortunately,
- 1:45:48Speaker 8: but what an atmosphere there.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: They were going nuts.
- 1:45:50Speaker 5: I did not, and I watched a lot of those
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: uh of that series. But yeah, it's too bad that
- 1:45:57Speaker 5: they got so thoroughly all played.
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: Yeah, because great atmosphere, a lot of Speaking of women's sports,
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: bart in Poland, did you watch the Osaka Sweitik match?
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: Women's tennis at its finest? Isn't I of the best?
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: I did not see that.
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: Oh I didn't realize Osaka was back in the yack
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: in the majors.
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: Yes, she's back playing pretty well.
- 1:46:16Speaker 8: French French Open right now?
- 1:46:17Speaker 2: What are we French Open?
- 1:46:21Speaker 6: And the point about stadiums is actually a pretty big topic.
- 1:46:24Speaker 6: You know, we got to talk about the Celtics at
- 1:46:26Speaker 6: least once on this show. And actually in the NBA,
- 1:46:29Speaker 6: the home court advantage UH is nowhere near as important
- 1:46:33Speaker 6: as it once was. In a big reason why some
- 1:46:36Speaker 6: people that cover this think it is is because all
- 1:46:38Speaker 6: the stadiums are now the same like they you know,
- 1:46:41Speaker 6: it's all and it's all very very you know, top
- 1:46:44Speaker 6: notch to like you know, back in the day, like
- 1:46:46Speaker 6: the Boston Garden like used to have like dead spots
- 1:46:50Speaker 6: on the parquet, like Larry Bird would know where the
- 1:46:52Speaker 6: dead spot was, but some you know, a guy visiting
- 1:46:54Speaker 6: wouldn't have known. And you know, like they feel like
- 1:46:57Speaker 6: the conditions.
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: But even from a noise standpoint where you know, you
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: would think you would get the home court advantage. You know,
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: when your team's on defense, everyone's the only defense. But
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: when your team's on offense, they're going, let's go Celtics,
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: it's just as loud, you know, and they're playing music now,
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: you know, during possessions. So like from a noise standpoint,
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: it's it's noisy whether or.
- 1:47:19Speaker 8: Not you have the ball.
- 1:47:20Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's all of it's so streamline now
- 1:47:24Speaker 6: where like every stadium in the NBA is just exactly
- 1:47:27Speaker 6: the same. And this eventually happened. Like hockey, there is
- 1:47:29Speaker 6: no really home ice advantage because it's literally the same
- 1:47:32Speaker 6: ice no matter where you play. And I feel like
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: that's happened in the NBA now too. So now like
- 1:47:37Speaker 6: teams went on the road in the NBA playoffs all
- 1:47:39Speaker 6: the time and that never used to happen.
- 1:47:41Speaker 8: Makes you even wonder with like a team like the Bruins,
- 1:47:42Speaker 8: maybe other teams, like there's almost more pressure playing at
- 1:47:45Speaker 8: home in front of your own fans, like rather than
- 1:47:47Speaker 8: like we're just on the road, just play loose, you know,
- 1:47:48Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Claire in West Midlands, Hello everyone, Hello Marien. I'm
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: totally with Evan on his respect for mccordy. But for me,
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: there should be two retired numbers and that's it. And
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: I'm wavy on the second one, twelve for sure, and
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: I'm really inclined for eighty seven, but I could be
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: persuaded against it. No, I'm with Duce. Let's see the
- 1:48:11Speaker 2: numbers back out.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: There, Claire, stick with your stick with your convictions the
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: tight ends. You want eighty seven, but.
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: Think about it, Yeah, think about it.
- 1:48:18Speaker 6: Though.
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: Let's just say you went to the college route. Wouldn't
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: it be cool like when you rise to a level
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: at a tight end, you got to wear eighty seven.
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: When you first come in you don't get to wear it.
- 1:48:29Speaker 6: But like you make a Pro Bowl instead of you
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: become at all tired numbers a threshold when you get
- 1:48:35Speaker 6: to ye graduate.
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that's hard. That's hard to do because now
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: you're asking people to change their numbers as pros. A
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: lot of players don't want to do that.
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: Like in college, you kind of give that number to
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: the guy that you're sort of anointing. Yeah, you know,
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: this is the next big thing.
- 1:48:55Speaker 8: Not usually often not names on the back either, So
- 1:48:57Speaker 8: you can just buy that jersey. But I can imagine
- 1:49:00Speaker 8: the sports meet debates would be fun, Like you know,
- 1:49:01Speaker 8: I think, I mean, I think he's ready for eighty seven.
- 1:49:04Speaker 5: I don't know he can't. No, no, not yet, you know, right,
- 1:49:07Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: It's tough to change the number.
- 1:49:13Speaker 8: Right, It's almost like that with number one right now,
- 1:49:16Speaker 8: with like Polk, like the guy who gets number one.
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: Like, you know, you gotta be good, like a little pressure.
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: Brian writes in he's from Plymouth. When do you think
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: new uniforms we rolled out? Assuming it's inevitable with the
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: new regime, I personally would love a pat Patriot reboot,
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: as the Flying Elves could use a rest.
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I wouldn't tie the new coaching staff to new uniforms.
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: The owners are the same. It's not really a new
- 1:49:40Speaker 5: regime in that regard.
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: Well, they could go to the.
- 1:49:43Speaker 5: They could, but that would be up to the craft Mayo.
- 1:49:46Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:49:47Speaker 8: The Jets did a quick change, didn't they. Their their
- 1:49:49Speaker 8: uniforms changes here and I'm not sure how slightly, but
- 1:49:52Speaker 8: they had just a couple of years ago which I
- 1:49:54Speaker 8: actually liked their old uniforms. I don't know why they
- 1:49:56Speaker 8: had to change.
- 1:49:57Speaker 6: Such a popular question that we get about. People hate
- 1:50:00Speaker 6: the Patriots uniforms and they want them change the.
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: Blueberries, especially the blue beer, because they haven't played well lately.
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: But this whole thing about the pat Patriot, people did
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: not like it back then, and now it's all nostalgia.
- 1:50:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I think the blue I think the blueberry, like
- 1:50:14Speaker 6: the blue jersey, needs to just be paired with gray pants.
- 1:50:18Speaker 6: When it's blue jersey gray pants, it looks great. When
- 1:50:20Speaker 6: it's the blueberry, it looks terrible.
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50:21Speaker 5: I don't like I didn't love pat Patriot, but I
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: don't remember people clamoring for new uniforms ever, and all
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: of a sudden they just showed up one year when
- 1:50:30Speaker 5: you know, they did have that sort of change when
- 1:50:32Speaker 5: wine came in and parcels came in and they went
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: to these blue uniforms.
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: Well, I don't remember back then, like you know, I'm
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: talking seventies, eighties.
- 1:50:40Speaker 5: I don't remember anybody clamoring.
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: People weren't obsessed with like uniforms and helmets the way
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: they are now.
- 1:50:46Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, and they was so much better.
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: I think Madden might have done a lot with that,
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: Like you can do the skins.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: That's a good point.
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: Yeah, it's nice, good use of that.
- 1:50:55Speaker 8: But yeah, I mean I think you also see teams
- 1:50:57Speaker 8: like the Chargers that you have a number of different
- 1:50:59Speaker 8: uniforms night. You know, I think fans, you know, kind
- 1:51:01Speaker 8: of like that that novelty of you never know quite.
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: What they're going to wear. Your City Connect uniform Connect
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: the Chargers.
- 1:51:07Speaker 6: The Chargers are like are like the kings of everything
- 1:51:10Speaker 6: that doesn't matter, Like, oh, we have great uniforms, we
- 1:51:13Speaker 6: have uniforms, we have a great schedule release video.
- 1:51:17Speaker 5: I told you last week, bad show.
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: This week he's having a very strong show, very strong show.
- 1:51:23Speaker 5: You brought your snark level up for I can't.
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: Ryan also says shout out to the YouTube live chat
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: glad Fred finally found out about Yeah, apparently.
- 1:51:36Speaker 5: It's the same.
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: I welcome, I welcome all the YouTubers call into the show,
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: right into the show. If you want to write emails
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: and all caps, I'll read them.
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: Smash that subscribe button, especially if you're making to like
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: the lit army. The litz army is strong on the YouTube.
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: All right. Uh, let's see trying to wade through the
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: movie once. Here's Ben and Hirshey. It's where almost to
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: the end we can't open up that can of worms, now,
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: you know, Ben and Hershey, I assume Pennsylvania. You have
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: been to Hershey, Pennsylvania. I have been to Hershey Park,
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: I have. Yeah, it's a great place.
- 1:52:13Speaker 5: When I was, I was a really little good take.
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: I stayed at the Hershey Park Hotel. Like the hotel
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: as well in the hallways, like there's a smell of chocolate.
- 1:52:21Speaker 5: Absolutely, and when you get to your room, they have
- 1:52:24Speaker 5: complimentary Hershey like walk they like, which is exactly what
- 1:52:27Speaker 5: I needed.
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: As you know, I just turned the if you have
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: young kids, Hershey Park's a good take.
- 1:52:33Speaker 10: You know.
- 1:52:33Speaker 5: Yeah, that was. We had a good time and there
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: was a ridiculous deal on like a fast pass at
- 1:52:39Speaker 5: that park, and it was like unbelievable how many times
- 1:52:42Speaker 5: the kids had got to go on roller coaches. They
- 1:52:44Speaker 5: just would like cut the line because we got a
- 1:52:47Speaker 5: fast pass that was like fifty bucks or something like ridiculous.
- 1:52:52Speaker 8: It's amazing when it works out like that at at
- 1:52:54Speaker 8: theme park and you're able to like whether it's you
- 1:52:55Speaker 8: kittered on the right day or you get a fast pass,
- 1:52:58Speaker 8: because there's been other days where I'm like, I want
- 1:53:00Speaker 8: three rides, and then there's other rides like Harry Potter
- 1:53:02Speaker 8: at Universal where it's like three and a half hours
- 1:53:05Speaker 8: from this point, Like, who was paying all this money
- 1:53:07Speaker 8: is that to stand in line for half the day
- 1:53:09Speaker 8: to ride like a two minute ride.
- 1:53:10Speaker 6: I used to I've been to Disney a couple of times,
- 1:53:13Speaker 6: but the best time was it was like one of
- 1:53:15Speaker 6: those special like night time ones or they opened the
- 1:53:19Speaker 6: park at at night. I think it's like Christmas time,
- 1:53:22Speaker 6: and it's like nowhere near as many people because it's
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: just like a sort of select like ticket to get
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: in at night, and we rode like like every.
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: Result like.
- 1:53:33Speaker 12: That.
- 1:53:34Speaker 7: If you're staying at a Disney Parks resort, you get
- 1:53:36Speaker 7: to stay after.
- 1:53:36Speaker 6: Yeah, it was awesome. That was the best time because
- 1:53:39Speaker 6: otherwise you're just waiting.
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: I got to get in early once. I forget why,
- 1:53:42Speaker 5: but like an hour before the park.
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: If you stay in the park, you get her an
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: hour early. Yeah, Ben In her she writes, I'm old
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: enough to remember when Evan told us that the message
- 1:53:54Speaker 2: to fans if the Patriots draft Drake May should be
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: have patients. But apparently he is. After one practice, he's
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: already bemoaning the coaching staff for not giving May more reps.
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: May could benefit from the second team reps, but he's
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: only one player on the field trying to get ready
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: for the season who is more likely to run the
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: offense correctly so that proper evaluation can be made of
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: the wide receivers, the old line, tight ends, running back.
- 1:54:18Speaker 2: ZAPPI your May. Last I checked. Football is a team sport. Yes,
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: May's development is paramount to the long term success of
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: the team. But please don't pivot on your preach for
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: patients after one week of practice.
- 1:54:31Speaker 5: I don't understand.
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: I'll jump in for defense like I think.
- 1:54:35Speaker 6: I don't even understand what he's saying.
- 1:54:36Speaker 8: He can be patient, but he wants him to get
- 1:54:38Speaker 8: the experience. Now he's not saying like he needs to
- 1:54:40Speaker 8: play right now. He just wants him to start practicing
- 1:54:43Speaker 8: and getting these so that you can speed up.
- 1:54:46Speaker 6: Because once we get to September and they're preparing for
- 1:54:48Speaker 6: the Bengals, he's not going to have time to practice, right.
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: They're not if he doesn't play for like two years, Jesus, Like,
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: I don't think that's being like just because he said
- 1:54:58Speaker 5: be patient before it started, doesn't mean he's to be
- 1:55:00Speaker 5: happy about it or anybody else would be for that.
- 1:55:02Speaker 5: And even when in order to get ready to play,
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: you have to practice.
- 1:55:05Speaker 6: Yeah, And even when I said be patient, I wasn't
- 1:55:07Speaker 6: necessarily even talking about like when he gets on the field.
- 1:55:10Speaker 6: I more was talking about like the results of like
- 1:55:13Speaker 6: them winning being a contender all a sudden overnight. Like
- 1:55:16Speaker 6: that is when I was talking about, I don't know whatever,
- 1:55:19Speaker 6: can't win?
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: You can win, all right, No you can't.
- 1:55:22Speaker 8: You did win.
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: You want it life?
