- 0:31Hello and welcome to another episode of Anime Club.
- 0:36I'm having a nice little little warming presence of Calcifer
- 0:39there warming. Myself up with Calcifer and some
- 0:43nowadays I. Would say I want some but I'm
- 0:46already sweating my boobies off. How are you anyway?
- 0:51Yeah, I'm good. Thank you.
- 0:53Great to be back. We're doing a live which we.
- 0:58I'm sure we'll have been doing like, but it feels like ages
- 1:01since I've done it because it's been a very, very long week.
- 1:05Yeah. But yeah, this.
- 1:08Really has. This.
- 1:10Wow. Till we get straight into it.
- 1:12This week we're doing Howl's Moving Castle.
- 1:19The music is amazing on this. It's like every every Ghibli
- 1:24short ever has got this in the back.
- 1:26The song in the background. I think even your stuff.
- 1:29Yeah, no, definitely. Every Ghibli thing that I post,
- 1:32I always put this, the main theme from this film on because
- 1:37it is just like peak Ghibli soundtrack.
- 1:42And I did love it because obviously Chris and I chat when
- 1:44we're watching stuff. And I was a bit like, is Chris
- 1:47going to like this one? And then when I got a message
- 1:52saying the music's amazing in this, I was like, OK, I can
- 1:54relax, he is going to enjoy it. Well, I thought I'd watched it
- 2:00because it's like everyone knows how it's Moving Castle and I
- 2:04start watching it before this and I thought, I haven't
- 2:07actually seen this. So it's a nice, nice little
- 2:10surprise. I don't know what's the matter
- 2:12with this, if it's like some sort of mental illness or but
- 2:15yeah, I thought I had watched it.
- 2:17I think it's just stress and being a dad.
- 2:20It just affects your, affects your short term memory.
- 2:23I don't think we need to like, lock you away just yet.
- 2:27Selective hearing as well, but yeah, oh, there's loads of
- 2:31people in the chat. Oh, before we start, probably as
- 2:34well. And when I set up this stream,
- 2:37there was a weird thing popped up that said for goals.
- 2:41And I was like, oh, I don't know what they are.
- 2:43I'll put one on to test it out. And stupidly, I put that I would
- 2:47next neck me lumpy juice if someone donated something.
- 2:50So cheers Paul for doing a super chat for 79 pence or something.
- 2:56Now I've got a neck me Peach lumpy juice, which is.
- 3:00Millions. I think it looks all right, but
- 3:04I can imagine it's a textural nightmare, especially when
- 3:06you're like, yeah, deep throating it.
- 3:09It's not just the lumps, the slimy lumps like neck and frog
- 3:14spawn isn't. It.
- 3:16So what other snacks have you got this week?
- 3:19Oh yeah, that would that would leave it a lot and I'll just
- 3:23pick one snack. So I've got a very weirdly
- 3:26labeled peel as gummy gummy bananas.
- 3:33And the font is a horrible choice on these, which
- 3:39apparently you can peel them. I've never had them before, but
- 3:43everything's been last minute today so.
- 3:47Yeah, I'm looking forward to you peeling those gummy gummy nonas.
- 3:54Sammy's chanting down in one in the chat, which I love.
- 3:58So looking forward to that. I've gone for, I've gone from
- 4:03some strawberries and cream pink French Francis on a tiny little
- 4:08pink plate. Oh, nice, everything.
- 4:12And then I've also got like some some squash, which is like a
- 4:16rhubarb and. Squash in a mug.
- 4:18Curry squash. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:21This is my favorite mug to drink from.
- 4:25It's a glass mug, so it's like halfway between a glass, halfway
- 4:28between a mug, so it can be tea or squash.
- 4:33I still think it's weird, but. All right, suddenly you're like
- 4:37all like table etiquette expert over here.
- 4:41I'm just thinking the things to say stolen so I don't have to
- 4:44neck this lumpy juice. Down in one but.
- 4:52Yeah, so how's Boven Castle? While you tell everyone what
- 4:56it's about in detail, I'm going to attempt to neck this
- 5:01necklace. A lot of juice, Yeah.
- 5:04So when you're ready. Down the lumps, yeah.
- 5:07So Housemoving Castle is a, is a film based on a book.
- 5:12And it's like, I would class this as like a modern fairy
- 5:15tale. And it's set in a, a land at
- 5:19war. It ain't right that you have to
- 5:23tap that bottle to get the lumps down.
- 5:26And there is a young, a young woman, Sophie, who considers
- 5:30herself to be plain and unassuming, finds herself cursed
- 5:35by a witch after she stands up to a witch who's being rude.
- 5:38And she's like a hat maker. And so after having been cursed,
- 5:44she goes out into the the the waist, which are on the
- 5:48outskirts of her town to look for the Howl's moving castle,
- 5:53which is like knowing how to be a powerful wizard who might be
- 5:56able to help her. And once inside, she finds
- 6:00herself with a friendly little little demon fire demon
- 6:05Calcifer. We also have, like along the
- 6:07way, she picks up like some other, like a straggling
- 6:11scarecrow, an enchanted scarecrow called Turnip Head.
- 6:16And together these ragtag mischiefs join forces with Hal
- 6:20and his apprentice. And it's kind of really like,
- 6:25it's quite a sweet story. And not say the first half is
- 6:28just about them, like getting to know each other and forming a
- 6:31kind of like weird surrogate family.
- 6:34And then the second-half gets a bit more actiony as you find out
- 6:37what's going on in the world and the warmth comes back.
- 6:41I'm pausing on my description of the film.
- 6:44Chris, how you doing? Just going to do a little
- 6:46welfare check. That that was a struggle, right?
- 6:49So you try to nick it and then we had the the bottleneck here.
- 6:54So it's just you get the down the liquid and then you just get
- 6:57a mouthful of lumps. So yeah, it's like, it's like, I
- 7:01don't know, neck and a bottle of frog spawn.
- 7:05Oh Yum. Yeah.
- 7:10Anyway, cheers for that Paul. It tastes like Peach.
- 7:19It is little bits of Peach with peachy wet around it.
- 7:25Sorry, where did you get get up with the storyline?
- 7:28Yeah, I just got up to where, like, you know, they they make a
- 7:31family. Sophie cleans everything up,
- 7:33kind of whips them all into shape.
- 7:35She's cursed to be an old lady as well, I should say.
- 7:38So she goes from like, being this young lady to being this
- 7:40old Grandma Sophie. And she spends most of the film
- 7:42as Grandma Sophie, who is amazing.
- 7:46I kind of love the energy of someone just get like becoming
- 7:49old overnight and just being like, well, I'm just going to
- 7:52say what I think now. Yeah, it's, it's kind of like
- 7:57them old people who just don't give monkeys anymore.
- 8:00It was just that I see what I want, what you're going to do.
- 8:02I'm an old woman. There's a film, There's not a
- 8:06film. There's a poem and I can't
- 8:07remember what it's called, but it's, it's like when I, it's
- 8:09like when I'm 80, I'm going to dye my hair purple and wet
- 8:13orange or something and yell at people on the on the bus.
- 8:16That's the gist of the poem. I'm not doing it anywhere near
- 8:18justice, but like, that's the energy that I feel like Sophie
- 8:21comes into this film with. She's just going to do whatever
- 8:24she likes. And if it involves like, hitting
- 8:26people with sticks or, yeah, whipping people into shape, then
- 8:31that's what she's going to do. Exactly.
- 8:34Yeah, I I quite like. I thought it was weird because
- 8:37she's been cursed to be an old person and she always has far
- 8:42for Darren to be in contact with Howell by accident.
- 8:46Well, I mean, it was foretold because you see, there's a weird
- 8:49tiny. Lady that and she's that and
- 8:51she's rude. Like the witch of the waist says
- 8:53that she's rude to her, but the witch of the waist is rude
- 8:55first. I think she's just standing up
- 8:57for herself. Yeah, because I'll watch this
- 9:00with them dubbed with them with subtitles.
- 9:05So Sophie own runs a hat shop and so the Witch of the Waste
- 9:13waltzes in and she's just like, oh, this is a cheap shop with
- 9:16shitty hats and she's like, oh, can you leave?
- 9:19We're actually closed now, which is like curse.
- 9:22Yeah. That's how.
- 9:24And then I'm going to run away, yeah.
- 9:27The Witch of the Waste is but also like Just While We're
- 9:30talking dubs, the The voice acting cast for this is amazing.
- 9:35I know you didn't love it as much as Princess Mononoke, which
- 9:39is fair because Princess Mononoke, the voice acting is
- 9:42truly very exceptional. But in this, we've got as how
- 9:46Christian Bale as the Witch of the Waste, Lauren Bacall as
- 9:50Calcifer, Billy Crystal, like that.
- 9:54There are some really good voices in this.
- 9:57Yeah, Yeah. And I would say that out of all
- 10:01of the performances, Lauren Bacall as the Witch of the Waste
- 10:04is just the best. She's so good in it.
- 10:09So actually which which the waste right?
- 10:12Do you think she is a good character or a bad character
- 10:17overall? I think she's an interesting
- 10:21character and it goes back to what I was saying about Princess
- 10:24Mononoke. Sometimes Jibby don't do good or
- 10:27bad, they do human, where characters come fully loaded
- 10:34with motives of their own and points of view that put them at
- 10:39odds with each other but don't necessarily make them bad.
- 10:41I mean at the beginning I would say that the Witch of the Waste
- 10:44is a vain character, but I think she becomes incredibly
- 10:49sympathetic because she too so she has her powers stripped
- 10:52away. So she's there's an irony
- 10:54because she curses Sophie to be this old woman.
- 10:58And then what happens is she gets her powers stripped away by
- 11:00the kings, like arch mage, and she becomes this like, little
- 11:06old lady in the corner, which is like over there.
- 11:09Yeah, underwear Chris is on the screen because, like, all of her
- 11:14power, that's keeping her like, young and beautiful.
- 11:17Beautiful. Oh yeah, she's there's like a
- 11:21kind of grotesqueness to her, but I also kind of love a thick
- 11:24queen. So it's all.
- 11:25Good. What is what is that film?
- 11:28I think you were on the podcast, on the Sunday podcast where it
- 11:32was them two women who found a portion.
- 11:34Death becomes her. Death becomes her.
- 11:36It's kind of like that beauty where you'd they're like, oh,
- 11:40the fault of bits and they look a bit lumpy and bumpy and weird
- 11:43and you're like, is it worth it? You you kind of can tell that
- 11:48the witch of the waist, it has like given in to her vanity like
- 11:52she's she's like, she's been like taken over by it.
- 11:57But then when she becomes this little sweet old lady again, she
- 12:00becomes this very insightful, very observant character who is
- 12:05more sympathetic. She still acts selfishly
- 12:07sometimes, but it's without the malice of before.
- 12:11There's an innocence to it in a way, so I would say not good or
- 12:15bad, complicated. So do you know how I kinda saw
- 12:19it right? Which of the ways So she had her
- 12:21powers removed for her, which means she kinda she kinda lost a
- 12:27cockiness with it. And so she just turned into a a
- 12:30normal woman who's meant to be her age is in like she doesn't
- 12:34have anything making her younger or more powerful or anything
- 12:37like that. And she her main goal, it seems
- 12:42like, is to get Howl's hot. So Calcifer has Howl's hot
- 12:48because he's he's a shooting star.
- 12:52That was it was meant to fizzle out, but Howl felt sorry for
- 12:56him. So he's like, Oh yeah, may take
- 12:57me hot. And the formed kind of like a
- 13:00contractor bond where to say he gets Calcifer's powers kind of
- 13:04and Calcifer gets to live and and I think you see glimpses of
- 13:10her. It's kind of like Bilbo in the
- 13:12ring where she gets like, I want that.
- 13:17She remembers the like the the urge to to get it and then she
- 13:21goes mad a little bit, but then she.
- 13:23Kind of, yeah. There's also like a kind of,
- 13:29there's like a subtle implication that like that
- 13:32because they because they also talk about like watch out for
- 13:35Hal at the beginning, like Sophie's sister is like watch
- 13:38out for Hal because he'll steal your heart.
- 13:41And this idea, but it's more as like a Lothario character.
- 13:44And when he's introduced, he's incredibly like this kind of
- 13:46very flamboyant, like almost dandyish flirt character.
- 13:54So there's also like this kind of element of, like, her having
- 13:57had like, an unrequited love with Hal.
- 14:01So there's like a kind of power thing, but maybe like there's
- 14:03also like a kind of like, yeah, that kind of like twisted sense
- 14:08of ownership that you feel over someone who doesn't return your
- 14:11feelings. Yeah, well, he did.
- 14:14He did mention in the film where he was just like, Oh yeah, we
- 14:17did have a thing a long time ago.
- 14:20But then I realised what she truly was.
- 14:22They dumped her. Yeah, exactly.
- 14:26And also like, how does, how old does that make?
- 14:28How and how old? Because in this Sophie it's very
- 14:33good. Like the age thing maybe is
- 14:35irrelevant because it's a whole film that isn't isn't about age
- 14:41but. Age of consent is is implied.
- 14:47That's what I'm thinking. He must be a full grown man.
- 14:52Maybe Magic? He's a he's a magic 3000 year
- 14:57old demon that looks like a 17 year old boy.
- 15:00I don't know. Yeah, I do.
- 15:02But I do love the way that they play with age in this, because
- 15:05Sophie's curse comes and goes based on her state of mind and
- 15:09how focused she is on herself and her own troubles versus how
- 15:14focused she is on other people. And there's something kind of
- 15:20lovely about the way that they play with because they do.
- 15:23Because we've got two different voices as well who voiced
- 15:25Sophie. There's Emily Mortimer, who does
- 15:28the young Sophie and then Gene Simmons, who does the old
- 15:31Sophie. Not like the one from Kiss and
- 15:35the Gene, the Gene Simmons from Anthony and Cleopatra.
- 15:40See, I don't know that I don't know are from anything else so.
- 15:45That's fair, but she's so so they kind of play around with
- 15:50like how the voice merges in and out, which I love, but they also
- 15:54play around with how they animate her because they go like
- 15:57they sometimes they make her like they've really old bent
- 15:59over. Sometimes she's like kind of in
- 16:01the middle, like upright, but like aged face.
- 16:06Sometimes she's very young. It's interesting.
- 16:09I thought it was. I think it's a really fun a fun
- 16:12part of the film. Also these are.
- 16:14Amazing not as good as me gummy known as I think they are.
- 16:23Well, I didn't I didn't have more.
- 16:25I didn't have more snacks, but I thought I'm not going to.
- 16:27I'm not just going to eat all me snacks in.
- 16:30One you did. You wasted your best snack
- 16:33before we started. Maybe.
- 16:36Well, while I was quickly Googling facts about how was
- 16:39Boom and Castle, but yeah, sure it's not just like appearance as
- 16:45well, because even when when she gets starts getting when she's
- 16:51going up to the castle stairs to meet the king, is it of 1 land?
- 16:57So she's she's got to go there carrying a dog, which is a
- 17:01little fat lump and she gets this energy out of nowhere.
- 17:05Yeah, it was just below the M there, the little weird dog who
- 17:11apparently in the books was a man cursed to be a dog, but
- 17:14doesn't really mention it in the film.
- 17:16But besides. But you do get the same.
- 17:19Energy, but he has an intelligence though, but that's
- 17:22about it. But from his eyes I got the
- 17:25impression that he was sick of everything.
- 17:28Like I'm just sick of this shit did.
- 17:32You find that relatable? Chris Yeah, pretty much.
- 17:40Definitely. Chad Youth, youth in different
- 17:44ways, like whether it be energy or like resolve.
- 17:48So it is. It is interesting how the play
- 17:51with age, but you've actually you've seen this film before.
- 17:55As I've said before that I haven't.
- 17:57How did you find looking at it now with 2025 eyes and has the
- 18:02opinion changed from your first watch?
- 18:06So I still love it as a film, Right.
- 18:09My opinion on the characters has definitely changed as I've
- 18:13gotten older. Back in my day when I was young.
- 18:19So I can remember watching this as a teenager and being like,
- 18:21oh, how swoon worthy kind of anime characters.
- 18:24And now when I watch it, I'm like, someone needs to sort that
- 18:28man baby out. Yeah, but he needs to like, he
- 18:32just needs to get over himself and like take some
- 18:36responsibility and he becomes much likeable when much more
- 18:39likeable when he does. But like the undertones of I can
- 18:43change him, I was like well less into as an adult.
- 18:48It is kind of. Oh, sorry, I was I.
- 18:52Was just. Saying.
- 18:55No, you go. Sorry.
- 18:56Yeah, saying justice, Justice for Turnip Head, who I feel like
- 19:01is the unsung hero and really the one that you would want to
- 19:05end up with. He is a Prince as well.
- 19:08He's yeah, And he's kind, yeah. And he doesn't have to be.
- 19:14He doesn't have to be, but he is.
- 19:17So sorry, you were saying? I'm just saying even when you
- 19:20walk because basically the castle, which is this this big
- 19:24moving thing behind me is, I would say it's howls like he's
- 19:30hot made it so it's a it's a like a look into his personality
- 19:36and his like inciting us. And basically it's like the flat
- 19:41out the young ones. It's a shit tip.
- 19:43There's food everywhere. There's no clean dishes.
- 19:46Everything's falling apart and dilapidated until old Sophie
- 19:50over there comes in and cleans it and starts sorting it out.
- 19:57And who needs a I'm just going to say, who needs a man who
- 20:01wants you to be their mother? Yeah, Yeah.
- 20:04Because that basically is what it takes to get how acting
- 20:08right. Yeah, I mean to.
- 20:10The to the point where at one point she actually does pretend
- 20:13to be his mother. Like there's a bit of a mother
- 20:16thing happening in this film. Yeah.
- 20:19And mums are great, but you know.
- 20:22Yeah, woman. You don't neck on with them
- 20:25though, but unless you're Paul. Or like a dad.
- 20:30Yeah. Well, yeah, anyway, on that
- 20:37note. Yeah, I I was going to lead on
- 20:39from something there, but the the neck and all my mom's
- 20:42distracted us as. It is want to do.
- 20:50Yeah. So yeah, so we look at that
- 20:56through 2025 eyes. You think how old's a man baby
- 20:59now? And did you get more from the
- 21:02the main message about being old in the self-confidence and or
- 21:08did you get that when you first watched it?
- 21:11I think I got that when I first watched it.
- 21:13There's like, it's, it's interesting, isn't it?
- 21:18Because there's, there's something in it.
- 21:22So the, the thing that I think the subtlety that I didn't
- 21:24appreciate as as a, as a young person who like, and I would
- 21:29proudly say I'm a fairly vain person.
- 21:32Like I do care about how I look and I care about what people
- 21:35think of me. And that's just part of who I
- 21:37am. And I'm OK.
- 21:38I've come to terms with that. And in this film, it's
- 21:41interesting because they don't say it's bad to want to appear a
- 21:45certain way. So you've got Sophie, who at one
- 21:49point she's like yelling at how? Because she's like, I've never
- 21:51felt beautiful in my life. And like, yeah, why?
- 21:54You get like, pull your shit together Because he's like,
- 21:56going into like a weird gooey funk having ruined his hair.
- 22:01And who hasn't had a hair moment?
- 22:08All right, rub it in. You've got hair.
- 22:12Don't rub it. You'll follow.
- 22:19And I also think there is something about that kind of
- 22:23like accepting parts of yourself that aren't that great that I
- 22:26think is in this. So it's like, on the one hand
- 22:29it's like don't care about what you think.
- 22:31And on the other hand it also is saying like your inside will
- 22:35show through. So I think the thing about
- 22:37Sophie appearing young when she's focused on other people is
- 22:41that idea that actually not being so focused on yourself is
- 22:45really good for you as a person. Like it's good for your mental
- 22:48health, it's good for your physical health, like focus on
- 22:51others and what you can do for them.
- 22:54And it's OK to sometimes like be at war with those two parts of
- 23:00yourself. Like that's like a natural thing
- 23:02in like life. And I think as a as a teenager,
- 23:09I was probably like old, bad, young, good.
- 23:11Whereas now I'm like, oh, we know we need both.
- 23:16Yeah. I'm even at the end when she
- 23:20don't even think she breaks the curse because she like she does
- 23:23turn young when her and how will do a smoochy smooch and but she
- 23:29turns young with silver hair or with with grey hair and it's
- 23:33kind of like a kind of mixture of both.
- 23:35I don't know if that's because she hasn't lifted the curse, if
- 23:38it's a permanent thing, or what. Yeah, but and also, I was going
- 23:45to take this into a place not appropriate for this podcast,
- 23:49but like, imagine the situations where you accidentally turn
- 23:51back. Oh, yeah, If you have a knock in
- 23:56self-confidence and you're like, oh.
- 23:59Like I'm thinking like you step out of the shower catching like
- 24:02a glimpse of your, like, you know, like you when your body's
- 24:05all red in like a beached way. Or maybe that's just me.
- 24:08I feel like that's the least sexy time when you're like
- 24:11vulnerable and you just need to get to your clothes.
- 24:17People who strut out of the sack shower, tell me your secrets.
- 24:19Put it in the comments below. Houses with no mirrors I think.
- 24:24Yeah, yeah, nothing from like here down.
- 24:33So yeah, I like that's what I like to imagine is that the
- 24:35curse isn't broken. She just learns to live with
- 24:38herself better. And then that is what keeps the
- 24:41curse at Bay or managed. But every now and again, she'll
- 24:47catch, Yeah, she'll have a moment of vulnerability where
- 24:50she'll be like, oh, and that's just part of life.
- 24:54Even if she wasn't cursed, she'd probably feel that way.
- 24:56So. True, true.
- 24:59It's just, it just shows it on the outside.
- 25:02Yeah. And with them, there's a part in
- 25:06this where how he has a right pet lip on, right.
- 25:10And he's just like he I think he comes back into the into his
- 25:14home and he's like nearly turned into a Birdman.
- 25:18And she's just saying, is there anything I can do to help?
- 25:20And he kinds of turns to her and says, how can Someone Like You
- 25:25help me when you can't even get over your own curse?
- 25:28And she's not mentioned anything about it to him.
- 25:31So do you think Howell? Can see knows all the time.
- 25:35I think he knows all the time, but do you think he can see
- 25:38Sophie as a young Sophie as opposed to old Sophie?
- 25:46That's what I was wondering because he can see he.
- 25:49Knows. He knows turnip heads being
- 25:51cursed, and he knows the wicked witch the waist is.
- 25:57He knows what she looks like. So I think he can, he can like
- 26:05see slash sense when magic is present.
- 26:07So because when they first meet, he's like, what's in your
- 26:09pocket, Sophie? And it turns out it's like
- 26:11another curse that's like snuck in from the witch.
- 26:18So I think he can tell that magic is at play.
- 26:22I don't know if he can necessarily see the truth of it.
- 26:25But then maybe there is something about, so there's
- 26:27something about Calcifer's magic where I, I actually think
- 26:32Calcifer, if anyone can see what people really are, it's Calcifer
- 26:39because because he's got this like I like seeing, seeing the
- 26:42heart of someone and like his magic is based on taking pieces
- 26:47of people that are valuable. So you think I yeah, I think I,
- 26:54I would say it's more him. And if how has the ability, it's
- 26:58because of his deal with Calcifer.
- 26:59That would be my like, right. I don't think, I don't think the
- 27:03film says it one way or the other.
- 27:05I think they leave it to you to guess.
- 27:06And that's my preferred head cannon for it.
- 27:11Yeah, Art, I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm right, but I, I
- 27:15saw it as Calcifer with him being part of Howl's, having
- 27:22part of Howl's hard keeping him alive.
- 27:25And he kind of respects his judgement.
- 27:28And if he sees someone, he can kind of read them.
- 27:34So that's why he's like why Howell goes to Kalsava at one
- 27:38point where the whole gangs here, there's Turd of Pads, the
- 27:42dog, Wicked Witch of the Waste and someone else, Markel, who it
- 27:49was. I mean, he's, I forget Markel.
- 27:52I think the film did. But yeah, all of them.
- 27:57He's like, why did you let these in?
- 27:59And he was just like, I don't know, they just crashed in.
- 28:02And then he starts laughing. He was like, yeah, because he
- 28:05can't eject people because then shadow people try to come in and
- 28:09he just ejected them straight away through the door.
- 28:12So you obviously say something. Yeah, I but again, I think it's
- 28:17the I don't think Kausper's magic would let someone in who
- 28:21did genuinely mean how harm. Right.
- 28:26True. Because I think that's why Kausa
- 28:29is in the hearth of the home, because that's the, I mean it
- 28:33like literally heart. It has the word heart in it.
- 28:38Do you know what I mean? Yeah, Yeah, that's true.
- 28:43Yeah, I think it's interesting. I I hate that you feel like
- 28:46Marco's just a bit part because I love him.
- 28:49I think he's so cute, but he's eating all the eggs and stuff.
- 28:53Oh, I I don't think like. Sucking down bits of bacon.
- 28:56I just, I don't think he's a bad character, I just think if he
- 29:00wasn't in the film, I don't think it would have made a
- 29:02difference. Yeah, fair.
- 29:07That is fair. He is, he is Howl's apprentice
- 29:13who was a child, who when he's, when he answers the door,
- 29:16because Howl's got like in his house, he's got a little dial
- 29:20next to the door which lands on a colour.
- 29:22If it lands on red, it'll be in a certain city at a different
- 29:26town. And it's all different, like
- 29:28places where Howell has like a different standing in the
- 29:33community. So in one of them he's like a
- 29:35wizard and the other one he's like a portions which where we
- 29:40like people go to and like, oh, I've got some athlete's foot,
- 29:43can you knock as a proportion kind of thing.
- 29:45And he'll like make that up for them.
- 29:48I'm like guessing. Fucking problems out of.
- 29:51The air and then the one where in the town that Sophie's from,
- 30:01Oh my thrushes up and up again. It's.
- 30:04Really. But in the town that Sophie's
- 30:10from. Sorry.
- 30:11Oh, yeah, he's a, he's a womanizer in there.
- 30:14He's not really anything. I think that must be his like
- 30:17social one but. Anyway, I don't know.
- 30:21Yeah, that's his weekend place. But Marco, he just, his job is
- 30:29to basically open the door as an old man.
- 30:32He has a little cloak. Why he does this.
- 30:34And then as he's doing this, a beard comes.
- 30:37He's just a little old man. And I don't get his character.
- 30:41I think he's cute, but it's just like if you went, yeah,
- 30:46everything would still happen. Would still happen, but would it
- 30:50be as delightful and charming? I feel like it wouldn't.
- 30:54Wouldn't have to cook as many eggs it.
- 30:58Wouldn't have as many eggs you wouldn't get to see.
- 31:00I also love the bit where Calciferi is consuming the egg
- 31:03shell. Listen, he's like yes Billy
- 31:09Crystal doing some great mouth sounds.
- 31:13You're really leaning into it. Oh, you had some direction for
- 31:19that? He took an egg shells in his
- 31:22mouth. Billy.
- 31:24This is where you're eating egg shells.
- 31:25Can you make it sound delicious please?
- 31:31Oh, but Speaking of the characters, do you want your
- 31:34favorite? Is it my favorite?
- 31:40Oh no, it's actually Calcifer. Every time.
- 31:42It's Calcifer, and that actually hasn't changed.
- 31:47I think Council has always been one of my favorite characters.
- 31:50But I do also feel like turnip head is like close second.
- 31:54I don't have a tiny turnip head in one of my plant pots.
- 31:58I don't think it's near me. I think it's over on the other
- 32:02side of the rim. But like a little turnip head
- 32:03that just like, sticks into your plant pots.
- 32:06That he's just there screaming happiness.
- 32:09My world. Yeah, it's cute.
- 32:12Surrounded by dead plants. Yeah, probably.
- 32:16And it's been hot. They do need desperately need
- 32:21some water. Yeah, you meant you meant to
- 32:24water them, you know. Yeah, some of them.
- 32:29Survival of the fittest, ain't it?
- 32:32Only the good. Ones This is why I don't have
- 32:36children. But yeah, so how's castle,
- 32:46right? Love it.
- 32:48If you could have a castle with the door to anywhere, one, where
- 32:53would it go? And two, what would it look like
- 32:56inside? Because it's like a projection
- 32:59of you of like your head headspace.
- 33:03Do I get multiple doors? Yeah, you can have as many as
- 33:06you want. Love it.
- 33:08I'd probably route it to people that I want to hang out with
- 33:10more but can't because of distance.
- 33:13So I'd have like 1 would obviously be my home because
- 33:16it's exhausting having to travel home after like you've been away
- 33:19on a trip. So it should be nice to have a
- 33:20moving castle that just be like, oh, hi. 2 would be probably to
- 33:27like the Midlands where my dad is because that would be nice to
- 33:32be able to just walk through a door and just be like, hey, I've
- 33:34come for an afternoon tea. And then I think the last one
- 33:41like how many do I get 3 for? Many as you want.
- 33:45Have that as you want if you want.
- 33:47I would have, no, I think I'd have one up north so I could
- 33:49come come to the cinema with you guys.
- 33:52Hey. I'm so jealous that I can't go
- 33:55on a little nerdy up north trip whenever I want.
- 33:59I've finally got into the cool club and been invited to the
- 34:02pictures. And then I would have one to
- 34:06like some sort of beautiful exotic location that's very
- 34:09peaceful. Maybe there's some mountains,
- 34:11maybe there's a lake, maybe there's like ocean.
- 34:14I think mountains, water, a nice breeze but lots of sun, lots of
- 34:19lush, beautiful. Greenery.
- 34:24I want every bio. I'd find them that magical place
- 34:27on Earth where I can get all the bio rooms.
- 34:30Maybe it's somewhere like Alaska, but that's going to be
- 34:33cold in the water. Maybe I want it to be somewhere
- 34:35like Greece, where it's hilly but beautiful warm ocean.
- 34:41But imagine a cabin. Like a snowy cabin in the middle
- 34:45of the forest, cold outside. You've got a big fire gone.
- 34:50Do you know what I fancy? Just some Northern Lights
- 34:53tonight. Bing.
- 34:54OK, done with this now let's go to the Med.
- 34:57I'd I'd put play. They'd have some family stuff
- 35:01and friends stuff, some holiday stuff.
- 35:03What about you? See, my instant thought was
- 35:06right and round here it's not very good for takeaways.
- 35:12So I would have one for a Chinese food place, Indian food
- 35:16place, ETC. One for one for a sushi dip
- 35:23place. Oh, there's no such thing as
- 35:25sushi up here. Well, you said that you wanted
- 35:30to try sushi. Like like in a nice sushi place
- 35:32when you came down, if you came down.
- 35:35Yeah, just just go have a door to Japan.
- 35:41Yeah, go do that. Sushi place where the sushi's
- 35:45from? The same for the Chinese and the
- 35:47Indian. You could just have a door to
- 35:48China. I know, but like English Chinese
- 35:52is better for my taste than Chinese Chinese because they all
- 35:56have the proper stuff and we have the the weird key towards
- 36:01us. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:05Can you get can you get salt and pepper chips there?
- 36:09Yeah, Oh my God, I love a salt and pepper squid.
- 36:11Also, what's in your standard? What's in your standard Chinese
- 36:14order? Because I've got very specific
- 36:16things that I always get. Salt and pepper chips and sweet
- 36:20and sour chicken balls. What's the doodly things?
- 36:27Chow Mein and oh, special Curry. Maybe it's a bit of fried rice.
- 36:35I know it's, I know it's just the Mesa and sauce stuff, but
- 36:37it's nice. Yeah, that's a good trout.
- 36:43Mine is obviously you've got to get prawn crackers with some
- 36:50sweet and sour sauce. You get them anyway if you spend
- 36:53over a tenner or whatever. Yeah, which?
- 36:57Who goes for Chinese and doesn't spend over a tenner?
- 36:59Excuse me? They give us a box and it's just
- 37:01me and Molly. I'm not a student.
- 37:08Sweet and sour prawn balls. Oh great.
- 37:11Salt and pepper squid. But like this if they do a spicy
- 37:14version. Spicy salt and pepper squid.
- 37:16Crispy chili beef, either chow Mein or egg fried rice and a Big
- 37:25Spring roll or. The the big, big ones.
- 37:29Yeah. And if they do a.
- 37:31Decent one the the crispy seaweed which is actually just
- 37:34cabbage but. I I forgot my prawn toast as
- 37:37well. I love a prawn toast.
- 37:39Oh yeah, you've got to have prawn toast do.
- 37:42You know what the best thing is? Everyone in the chat, everyone
- 37:44in the chat I reckon, is now just hungry because I am.
- 37:49Well we normally get prontos and Molly doesn't like it so I just
- 37:53eat a full portion of it before I start.
- 37:55Me normal Chinese food so. Just on the way home from when
- 38:00you've picked it up, Molly doesn't know that that's that's
- 38:03your special rice special just for Chris.
- 38:07Why is your? Why is your top covered in
- 38:09sesame seeds? Sis?
- 38:11I don't know. No.
- 38:14But what would the inside the home look like though?
- 38:20Good question. So I think lots of bookshelves.
- 38:24Right. With lots of different stories
- 38:27on them. I, I was, I was thinking, we're
- 38:30guessing that has books in it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, mostly.
- 38:35Like maybe some trinkets and plants and things and just like
- 38:43a lot of like crafty stuff, probably probably a ton of half
- 38:47finished craft projects and unfinished sketchbooks.
- 38:51Yeah, just loads and loads of them.
- 38:53And then just like pens and paints and things everywhere.
- 38:56I think it'd be like a kind of very cosy arty studio library
- 39:02with a massive big actually do you know, like either a big open
- 39:07fire or a wood burner. I love a log burner.
- 39:12Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. One of them wing back armchairs.
- 39:16No giant sofa. I haven't got time for wing back
- 39:21armchairs. Give me big sofa.
- 39:22I don't want to be upright, I want to be horizontal.
- 39:28But one of those sofas where you can nap on it without getting a
- 39:31bad back. Like the big ones that are also
- 39:34difficult to get out from because they're so comfy and you
- 39:36have to like roll onto your side to get out from them.
- 39:40That's what this my, that's what my, that's what I think the
- 39:43inside of my brain looks like. And I think everything is like
- 39:46pastel colours. Right.
- 39:49Pastel colours in like greens and like with black accents.
- 39:56What about you? I like it.
- 39:59Have you ever seen Scrapheap Challenge before?
- 40:05Yes, they're bringing it back as well, aren't they?
- 40:07Yes, I know. That's what made a pop into the
- 40:09head. Yeah, I think it would be like a
- 40:12scrap yard from there, but full of shiny turny things,
- 40:19mechanisms, levers that you can pull that big stuff spin.
- 40:23Might not necessarily do anything, but it'll make stuff
- 40:25move. I can imagine walking in and
- 40:28just hearing like, like all the like the clicks of machinery
- 40:32everywhere, like a very kind of steam punky.
- 40:36You're there. You've got big goggles.
- 40:40It's like if you ever see all the house from 13 ghosts where
- 40:46like. Yeah.
- 40:48It just has loads of spinny things, minus the ghost.
- 40:51I can leave take them. I'll leave them.
- 40:53If I have to have them for the house, that's OK.
- 40:56But yeah, I think it would look better.
- 40:58Nice. With loads of Chinese rubbers
- 41:01house we. Have a ton of Chinese
- 41:04everywhere. I'm hungry though.
- 41:10Yeah, me too. I was eating my crisps, but
- 41:13it's. I'm just worried they're too
- 41:14crunchy and loud on the call. But I'm now wishing I'd had
- 41:18proper dinner before we started because I just really want a
- 41:20Chinese. Yeah, you have to wait.
- 41:26Yeah, fine. I know, nice, right?
- 41:30Me. Next question.
- 41:33So the film is based on a book by Diana Wynne Jones and adapted
- 41:40by Gibli. It's.
- 41:41Difficult to pronounce. It's Welsh struggle but
- 41:45different languages. If you could, if you could pick
- 41:50any book to be adapted by Gibli, what book would you pick?
- 41:57Yes, you gave me a warning about this.
- 42:01Yeah, it's a hard 1, isn't it? Because it is a hard one.
- 42:03There are so many good books you could pick.
- 42:07I don't know if the people in the chat are listening as well.
- 42:09You can put your suggestions if you want a film adapted, sorry,
- 42:14a book adapted in which will be filmed.
- 42:18For me it would be the so there's a book called fist.
- 42:23I'm looking up there because it's on my like I have like some
- 42:26sci-fi that I, I access regularly because I, they're
- 42:29like beloved sci-fi books that I want to reread and things book
- 42:34by a guy called Ian M Banks, who also wrote like the culture
- 42:38novels, which are about kind of big intelligent spaceships where
- 42:45travelling through space looking for new colonies.
- 42:48And like it's about each spaceship has its like own
- 42:50unique culture. They're really fascinating.
- 42:53But I would probably pick a book that he wrote called Fearsome
- 42:56Engine, which is about an like life in a kind of semi
- 43:01apocalyptic state where people don't know how the technology
- 43:05that's been left behind by former generations works.
- 43:08There's it's a little bit like Laputa Castle in the sky kind of
- 43:11tones. But there's a character in that
- 43:17whose name I can't remember, but they've got an Ant for a friend
- 43:20like a talking Ant, which is like nanotechnology called
- 43:24Baskool. And I would just love to see
- 43:28Baskool. Baskool is an Ant.
- 43:33And I would love to see Baskool animated by stereo Ghibli
- 43:37because I just think both that character because and the book
- 43:41spelled fearsome FERSUM engine ENJIN.
- 43:47So it's spelled phonetically, and half of the book is written
- 43:50in phonetic English, which is like a mind.
- 43:55Like reading a local Facebook page.
- 43:58Yeah, a little bit. And it's also one of those books
- 44:01where you read it and halfway through reading it, you get you
- 44:05like, so you read a chapter in the phonetic language and then
- 44:08you get back to normal English and you're like, I've forgotten
- 44:11how to read English because I've gotten my brains like switched
- 44:14into reading like phonetically. And it's, and I love it for that
- 44:19reason. And I think that something like
- 44:20that would adapt really interestingly to animation
- 44:24because instead of having that be a word thing, you could play
- 44:27around with how you animate the world's differently or how you
- 44:34animate the perspective of the characters differently.
- 44:37And I think, yeah, I think Studio Ghibli would do that in a
- 44:42really interesting way. Yeah.
- 44:44So that's what I would do. What about you?
- 44:47Well, I didn't reach around to to get the book.
- 44:52Oh. The Necronomicon only because it
- 44:59should be Lovecraft. Yeah, I was just looking before
- 45:03Jake suggested Berserk and Northeast nerd the metro books.
- 45:09I would I would kind of look like to say that too.
- 45:11I've already played the games, but it's like a postal purpose
- 45:14world with mutiny things probably for the same reason,
- 45:19because I mean, HP Lovecraft has a lot of undescribable horrors
- 45:24in it and I kind of want to know how what he would do with that.
- 45:28And because he can do like horrible, horrible monsters like
- 45:34Princess Monroe, the the bore thing at the start of that and
- 45:40the. Boy and the Heron, which is my
- 45:43family's laugh going on the list.
- 45:47I've never seen it. That that also has some very
- 45:51grotesque moments, especially when he's like halfway between
- 45:54Heron and man with our Pats. Molly said Matilda like a kids
- 46:02book like Matilda would be good. And there is Arietti, which is a
- 46:06Studio Ghibli film based on the Borrowers, which is very sweet
- 46:12and good. But I agree, I think something
- 46:14like Matilda would be amazing in the Studio Ghibli.
- 46:18Imagine the soda I would. Really like to see Cthulhu as a.
- 46:22Do you know what, Matilda? Could you imagine a Ghibli
- 46:25version of Danny DeVito? Well.
- 46:28Yeah, quite easily. I think it would be great.
- 46:34I think they basically that's what they've based the Herodon
- 46:37in Boy in the Herod. The Herod man is kind of Danny
- 46:41DeVito. The trash man.
- 46:50You've got to. Pay the troll toll.
- 46:54They're not saying them ever gone.
- 46:59I've never actually read those, so I don't know what that would
- 47:01be like. So it'll be a long process,
- 47:04very, very long project. But what do you think about
- 47:08that? Because after I read them.
- 47:10I have I have read the first book and I think it would be
- 47:15great. I'd love to see is it Tales from
- 47:18Earthsea? They do have some Dragons in it,
- 47:21which is like an early Ghibli. I don't think it's a Mayazaki
- 47:23Ghibli. I think it's like early Ghibli,
- 47:26right? And that has some Dragons in it,
- 47:31but they're it's a bit more if I say Yu-gi-oh, blue eyes, white
- 47:35dragon vibes. It's a bit more that than it is
- 47:40like Aragon kind of world, and I'd like to see Aragon in a
- 47:46Ghibli style for sure. Yeah, would be cool.
- 47:52There are lots of books that you just want to see anime and Jake
- 47:56sent us earlier he sent us Spice Girls anime.
- 47:59Yes, I would love to have seen that.
- 48:02I would be so into that, yeah, for sure.
- 48:10So, yeah, there are all sorts of things that would be so good to
- 48:12see, you know, You know, Ghibli world.
- 48:16Also, let us say that Ghibli is supposed to be pronounced with a
- 48:20hard G like in Italian, but the Japanese call it Giboori, so
- 48:25they started it. Yeah.
- 48:27I mean, I don't mind about the pronunciations because I'll
- 48:30probably sometimes say either or because I'm not bothered if I
- 48:35would maybe be, but worried if I would send it to his face.
- 48:39But if you was talking to Miyazaki, he would say he would
- 48:43say Ghibli like with AJ sound. But it is from an Italian word,
- 48:49so it should be Gibli. That is the thing.
- 48:52But I think because it because it is, it's one of those words
- 48:56that's been passed back and forward across different
- 48:58languages. I don't think it matters.
- 49:00Some people get really into it in the same way that some people
- 49:03get really into like dubs versus Subs.
- 49:05I ain't got time for that. I'm just here to enjoy myself.
- 49:10Exactly. Like, but you know, I think the
- 49:15important thing is if you've looked it up, good for you
- 49:17because you obviously care enough about it to want to do it
- 49:21right. And I think that's lovely
- 49:25because I know that we, when we first did our first poker Rosso,
- 49:28which was our first one, Yeah, we had a conversation of like,
- 49:31is it Gibley? Is it Gibley?
- 49:34Do we? What are we going to say?
- 49:38I don't even mind it, but if someone said it wrong to me I
- 49:40wouldn't mind either because I'll be like yeah don't know.
- 49:45Where do you think? Well, I think it depends.
- 49:46It depends where you're coming from as to whether it's right or
- 49:49wrong. Isn't it so?
- 49:52If it's not coming from me, it's wrong.
- 49:55Yeah, my lovely mum is one of those people who who, and I
- 50:01think it's pop because she did like spent time as, as a child,
- 50:04not like, so she spent like time as a child speaking French and
- 50:07can read Dutch and stuff. She's not, not like 100%
- 50:12English. So she spent some time abroad as
- 50:15a kid and she, she's one of those people who will say Cafe,
- 50:20like cafe like it's like it's French or restaurant because
- 50:26she's saying it the French, because it's a, it's a French
- 50:29word. And I think that's lovely.
- 50:32So I do get that, you know, for some people who are clever and
- 50:36no more than one language, that's grand.
- 50:40I'm not that person. Who?
- 50:43Who's she trying to impress? I don't think she is.
- 50:46I think that's what's so sweet about it.
- 50:48If she was trying to impress someone, it would be weird, but
- 50:50she's just doing it the way that she learned to say it.
- 50:54Fair. Fair.
- 50:55I can't see anything bad about us.
- 50:58Not without being a bit Brexiteering.
- 51:04Also I love how you went out of focus just then as if, as if
- 51:09discord and obs are like do you know what?
- 51:11We don't condone this. Oh, I'm back in the room, back
- 51:16in the room, back. In the room.
- 51:23And so I think we've got a lot of went through a lot of the
- 51:27plot and what did you, what did you think about the ending?
- 51:36I like it. I always feel it's a little bit
- 51:38rushed. It goes from being quite slow
- 51:41paced to being like, but, but, but, but also, if it dragged it
- 51:45out, it would be so long. And we know that Maya Zaki isn't
- 51:52someone who allows for things to be cut out.
- 51:56Yeah, as we learned last week. With these With these.
- 51:59Swords. Yeah.
- 52:02And I like, It's a fairy tale. I want a happily ever after.
- 52:05Do you know I want that? And.
- 52:09That's nice. I don't know, Like I know my
- 52:11Zach, he always says, like, you've got to leave people with
- 52:14more questions and answers kind of thing.
- 52:17But like, you can tie things up in a nice neat bow every once in
- 52:20a while. Just a bit of assurance that
- 52:27that they've had a good life. But I think in this they do
- 52:31because you see them like flying across the sky in each other's
- 52:34arms and that's like you don't get much more happy ending.
- 52:40I don't know. You couldn't couldn't show what
- 52:41happened to the turnip head. You want to know that Turnip
- 52:45head's OK Justice for turnip head.
- 52:47I mean justice. For Turnip Head, because I
- 52:51remember talking to you during this film and you were like,
- 52:54right. And I thought Turniped should
- 52:58have been in it more because it's it's very weird.
- 53:01I can't buy. That the the myth because
- 53:04Turniped is a cursed missing Prince who's been turned in like
- 53:08a scarecrow but he helps everyone and he falls in love
- 53:13with Sophie. For some reason Sophie just
- 53:15gives dishes out kisses to anyone that's around her and she
- 53:20kisses this turnip head don't even.
- 53:22Get all like, judgey about that. I know, but she she gives kisses
- 53:27everyone and I'm like I'm she would have done like a high 5 on
- 53:32the chin over full on gives turnip head a lip kiss and then
- 53:36he turns back into a Prince. And then the wicked witch of the
- 53:40waste is like, Oh, it's because it's like true love, like you're
- 53:44meant to be together. And so if he's like, Nah, man,
- 53:47I'm with how can you just go away and stop this war?
- 53:50She doesn't even do that. She just stops paying attention
- 53:52to the conversation because Hal stirs and she's like, oh, he's
- 53:55waking up. So it's like, it's not even like
- 53:57the dignity to be like, I'm really sorry.
- 53:59I'm not into you. It's like I've ceased to
- 54:03register that you exist. Who are you again?
- 54:07Yeah, sorry, one SEC. I've got more important things
- 54:10to do. Yeah, it's brutal.
- 54:13We'll turn it. But do you think anyone's story
- 54:16could have been expanded or more, or you've seen more of
- 54:19people or less? I would love to see a sequel, a
- 54:23taniped sequel, which is because he goes back, because he commits
- 54:28to going back to his people and trying to stop the war, and I
- 54:32would like to see that. I also do feel like it's like
- 54:35it's true Love's kiss, but your true Love's in love with someone
- 54:38else, so is it true love? Can you have more than one true?
- 54:41Yeah, also. Did he get such a rodeo?
- 54:45The the Prince, after Turniper gets in at the Prince, he's just
- 54:49like, yes, I shall return and have a word with my father to
- 54:52end the war. And then he's just like, and
- 54:54then I'll come back. Because there's one thing that's
- 54:57a constant in this world and it is a fickle, A fickle heart is
- 55:01in. She'll get over howl and I'll
- 55:03come back and steal her while he's saying this.
- 55:05So he's just like she'll realise.
- 55:07He's a selfish. What's it she can't change?
- 55:13She'll get sick of being his mom.
- 55:16She'll get sick of being his mom and doing all his laundry and
- 55:22him just flying off to do whatever he's doing and coming
- 55:25back as a big bird demon. In his in his little cabin in
- 55:28the middle of Wales. With his child heart.
- 55:34Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 55:37I did like that and counsellor came back as it because Sophie
- 55:42does remove Airport Howl's heart back inside of him.
- 55:48And then he's just like I'm away and then he comes back like a
- 55:52minute there. He say I kind of like around you
- 55:54guys. I'm just going to stay for a bit
- 55:58actually. It's all right, yeah.
- 56:00In another world, I, Sarah Peach, recognize what I was
- 56:07trying to say when I was like, a little.
- 56:09What's it? Yeah, yeah.
- 56:12Yeah. That is what I was trying to
- 56:13say, Sarah. In another world, there's a
- 56:15sequel where Calcifer watches everyone grow old for real this
- 56:19time, panics because he doesn't want to be alone and extends
- 56:22their life past what is OK and becomes, like, a kind of weird
- 56:27and it becomes weird and dark and twisted where he's, like,
- 56:30keeping their hearts against their wills.
- 56:33And in my head, there's like a horror version of this where
- 56:37they have to like, yeah, destroy their own hearts for the the
- 56:41sweet, blessed relief of death. But at the start they get that
- 56:45oh, what's that called where the hostages start the like the
- 56:47hostage takers? Stockholm Syndrome.
- 56:49It's starting to get stuck off syndrome and then it slowly
- 56:53turns. Yeah.
- 56:58Yeah, so I think that's it for I was Boom Castle.
- 57:06Yeah, great. We love that.
- 57:09So what else have we got on on this week?
- 57:10I'm so glad you asked, Chris. Yeah.
- 57:14I was going to say, I haven't got it.
- 57:15You've got like you've got them written down.
- 57:16Don't put us in the spotlight. And I have been looking like
- 57:20I've suddenly realized that it might look like I'm rolling my
- 57:22eyes at you, but I'm not. What I'm actually doing is
- 57:24looking up here to where I've got the list.
- 57:26The list. I'm that used to people rolling
- 57:29the eyes. It is.
- 57:30I didn't even notice. Didn't even notice, but I have
- 57:34been listening to what you're saying.
- 57:35But I've also been frantically checking.
- 57:36Have I still got the list? So this week we've got Wonka
- 57:40talking. The beautiful women of Wonk,
- 57:42Sarah and Becca are going to be talking TTRPGS.
- 57:44And you know that's going to be a good episode because how can
- 57:48you not have fun when dice are being rolled and worlds of
- 57:52imagination and wonder are being exposed?
- 57:57And then we're also doing over on we've got Rumble cast.
- 58:02Thunderstruck 3 is the next one. There's also been a great
- 58:05episode this week, which was on on a Wednesday.
- 58:07So go check it out on the Nerdy Up North YouTube just down below
- 58:10where they went to see a local wrestling match, which was great
- 58:14to hear about. Love that.
- 58:16And the biggest footage on TikTok as well.
- 58:20And they've got some of the footage on TikTok, so that's
- 58:22great fun to go check out Rumble Cast.
- 58:25So that's Jake and Sloop. And then we've also got Jake is
- 58:28also doing with the beautiful, wonderful Sammy.
- 58:31We've got countdown to doomsday Avengers Infinity War to look
- 58:34forward to. So we're getting to like into
- 58:38kind of final, final battle scene territory, like the big
- 58:44the big build up. And then on Monsters, Monsters
- 58:49on Monday, we're doing Hush and Sunday Pod.
- 58:55It is Sin City, yes, very stylish.
- 59:01I've really enjoyed like some of the promo stuff that he's made.
- 59:04It's all very stylish, very Sin City.
- 59:07So yeah. And then of course, on top
- 59:08Grumps, we have. Film No, we've got we've got
- 59:16Bubba Tep that's got which was technically Molly's pick where
- 59:21Bruce Campbell, who is Elvis and there's a African American JFK
- 59:28fight a mummy from a nursing home.
- 59:32I haven't seen it yet. Lee has in his game.
- 59:34I've seen this well, is it good? I've seen this film.
- 59:39Is it is well, I think I've seen this film.
- 59:41Is this the film where it's you're not sure if it is
- 59:43actually Elvis or if they're like just do Lally in an old
- 59:46people's home? Yeah, yeah.
- 59:48That's it. I've seen this film and I
- 59:50remember it being surprisingly good.
- 59:54That's so weird. So we've got a good film on
- 59:56Tuesday. Yeah, and not putting you on the
- 1:00:02spot or anything, but do you know what we're doing next on
- 1:00:04Anime Club? Not really.
- 1:00:07We haven't really talked about it this week.
- 1:00:09Sometimes we talk about it, sometimes we don't.
- 1:00:10We've kind of left it in the air.
- 1:00:12I mean, I'm tempted to make you to carry on on this, like to
- 1:00:15ride this Studio Ghibli train all the way into into the boy
- 1:00:21and the Heron. It's weird.
- 1:00:23I don't know. If you like it.
- 1:00:26It is weird. It is weird.
- 1:00:28It's very it's, it's philosophical, but weird, I
- 1:00:35would say. Right.
- 1:00:38Like, more so than his other films that he's done.
- 1:00:41Well, have you not got a list eenie meenie miney Moet do?
- 1:00:46You want an eenie meenie miney moment?
- 1:00:47Pick a number. Yeah, 1 and 763,200 and. 1.
- 1:00:53Smaller #7 Pick a number. Number 70, no, we've done #7.
- 1:01:02Also, while you're looking at that list, I have no idea how
- 1:01:06these rankings in the chats work.
- 1:01:07I don't know how people are #1 two or three.
- 1:01:10I've got no control over it. Pick a number between 11 and 81.
- 1:01:1934. 34 Oh ru ruini Kenshin. Let's do it.
- 1:01:28Let's do that. I think that's historical anime
- 1:01:31about samurai. It anime about samurai.
- 1:01:37It's going to be a bit different, but yeah.
- 1:01:42No one's ever seen that. Yeah, that's what we'll do.
- 1:01:46Rooney, Kenshin. You'll have to send us that
- 1:01:49because I don't know how to spell it or anything.
- 1:01:51Yeah. And I'm not sure that I'm saying
- 1:01:53it right. I probably am not.
- 1:01:58As we've established in the chat today, we need learners back.
- 1:02:02He's clever, he knows languages. Help help a sister out.
- 1:02:08Learn also if you were there. The God.
- 1:02:12The God. But yeah.
- 1:02:15And thanks for everyone that came and watched along and
- 1:02:19chatted tonight and donated money so I can Chuck a lumpy
- 1:02:23drink. That was that was fun.
- 1:02:29But yeah, we'll see you next week with don't be, don't be an
- 1:02:36anime club. Be a top anime club.
