- 0:00Every one of us has a favorite time of the year, favorite month
- 0:05of the year in which we appreciate more than other
- 0:09times. Mine happened to be the the last
- 0:12two months of the year, both November and December.
- 0:17It's it's all about the celebration of what takes place
- 0:20in those months. And when you, you think about
- 0:24all the, all, the, all the songs that are sung and all the sights
- 0:29that are seen and even the smells of the holiday season are
- 0:34unique and special. And so we embark on a time of
- 0:38the year where the whole world basically is involved in some
- 0:42kind of celebration when it comes to Thanksgiving and
- 0:45Christmas. But the believers celebration is
- 0:49different. It's, it's, it's unique in, in
- 0:52that the believer celebration is, is based on three key
- 0:57components. It's based on #1A contemplation.
- 1:02The reason we are to celebrate the Christ is because we
- 1:05contemplate him, we meditate upon Him, we think only of Him,
- 1:11and we recognize that the season is all about Him.
- 1:14So our celebration consists of a contemplation.
- 1:19Outside of that, it consists of a consideration and the word to
- 1:23consider is a is a mathematical term where where whereby you add
- 1:26up all the facts and come to the right conclusion.
- 1:30And so as we contemplate this great God that we serve, we
- 1:34begin to consider all that he does and all that he is by
- 1:37adding up all the facts of of everything about his being and
- 1:42his works. And we celebrate him.
- 1:46And that contemplation leads to a consideration which leads to a
- 1:50commemoration, that is, we under understand who Christ is and we
- 1:56remember all that he has done, which allows our celebration to
- 1:59be that which is beyond what the world gives because it honors
- 2:05and glorifies the name of Christ.
- 2:07And when you commemorate someone, you remember them.
- 2:10And it's so important for us to do that.
- 2:14The Bible says in second Dividey 28, Paul says to Timothy
- 2:17remember Jesus Christ, descendant of David, risen from
- 2:23the dead, which is my gospel. Why would Paul tell Timothy to
- 2:29remember Jesus? Had Timothy forgotten about
- 2:32Jesus? No, Timothy's a pastor, he's not
- 2:35going to forget about Jesus. But you have to understand what
- 2:39it means when the Bible says to remember something.
- 2:43It's it's simply means that you are to pay very close attention
- 2:49so that you can act wisely and fulfill your commitment.
- 2:55So when Paul tells Timothy to remember Jesus Christ, he's
- 2:58telling him to, to to pay very close attention to the Christ so
- 3:06that in your ministry you can act wisely and fulfill your
- 3:10commitment. You can say the same thing about
- 3:14Jonah when Jonah was in the belly of the fish.
- 3:18It says that Jonah said to do that.
- 3:19Jonah remembered the Lord and he offered up a voice of
- 3:27Thanksgiving to God. Now, did Jonah forget about the
- 3:31Lord? No.
- 3:32The reason he was in the belly of the fish was because of the
- 3:34Lord. I mean, he was going the
- 3:36opposite way of Nineveh. Everything that he was doing in
- 3:40rebellion was against the Lord. He didn't forget the Lord, but
- 3:45he had to pay very close attention to the Lord he served
- 3:50so that he could act wisely and make the right decision.
- 3:53So when he remembered the Lord, he lifted his voice in
- 3:58Thanksgiving to God. Same is true with with Solomon
- 4:03when he told his son Rayabom remember your Creator in the
- 4:07days of your youth. Not that Rayabom would have
- 4:10forgotten about his Creator. That's not the point.
- 4:14The point is, pay very close attention to the One who created
- 4:18you while you're young, because the evil days are coming.
- 4:23And if you pay very close to Him now, pay very close attention to
- 4:26Him now. You will act wisely.
- 4:28You'll fulfill your commitment so that when the evil days come,
- 4:31you'll be able to stand. The believers had this great
- 4:37celebration of the Christ on a continual basis, not just at
- 4:44Thanksgiving and at Christmas. We have this continual
- 4:47celebration because of this contemplation upon the Christ,
- 4:52this consideration of the Christ, and this commemoration
- 4:57about the Christ. That's why our celebration is so
- 5:01unique. And so when we pay very close
- 5:05attention to remembering Christ, what are we remembering?
- 5:11Well, one, you remember his works, listen what the Bible
- 5:15says. First Corinthians 11/24.
- 5:19Christ said, do this in remembrance of me speaking about
- 5:26the Lord's table. When you when you partake of the
- 5:30Lord's table, you do this in remembrance of me.
- 5:32You are reminded of the fact that my work on Calvary's cross
- 5:37is that what saves you? Over in Psalm 7711 it says I
- 5:43will remember the works of the Lord.
- 5:49Psalm one O 3. Excuse me.
- 5:51Psalm one O 5 verse #5 Remember his marvelous works.
- 5:58Psalm 139, verses 13 to 14 talk about the fact that we were
- 6:04created and wonderfully made, and we need to remember that we
- 6:09were made specifically by God. So we are to remember the works
- 6:16of God, but we're also to remember the ways of God.
- 6:19Deuteronomy 8 verse #1 says remember that the Lord your God
- 6:24LED you all this way. Important for Israel to remember
- 6:31what God had done, that God had brought them to where they were.
- 6:36They were on the edge of the promised land, and they were
- 6:39there because God had LED them all the way.
- 6:42That's what God had done. That's why the psalmist says in
- 6:45Psalm 1830, As for God, thy way is perfect.
- 6:49God doesn't have imperfect ways. He's only got perfect ways and
- 6:53so we are to pay very close attention to the ways of God.
- 6:57So that allows us to act decisively and fulfill our
- 7:01commitment to him when we look at his ways and his works.
- 7:09The reason we don't remember the ways of God is because we are
- 7:15all about our ways and the Bible says there is a way would seem
- 7:19with the right into the way. There is a way that steameth
- 7:22right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death,
- 7:27not life. We forget that.
- 7:30So not only do we remember the works of God and the ways of
- 7:33God, it's imperative that we remember the word of God.
- 7:37Psalm 11952 I will remember thine ordinances from old and
- 7:46comfort myself. Psalmist knew that his comfort
- 7:51would come because he paid very close attention to the
- 7:55ordinances of God and then would act wisely and fulfill his
- 8:00commitment to God, and then he received the comfort of God.
- 8:04Comfort doesn't come to those who disobey the word of God, it
- 8:08comes to those who obey the word of God.
- 8:11That's why Christ in John 1520, remember the word that I said
- 8:18unto you. And the Bible says in Acts 2035,
- 8:22remember the words of our Lord Jesus when he said it's more
- 8:25blessed to give than it is to receive.
- 8:28And then of course Psalm 1/19/16, the psalmist says I
- 8:33will not forget your words. So that commemoration that
- 8:43enables us to celebrate the Christ is all about remembering
- 8:49the works of God, the ways of God, the Word of God, and even
- 8:56the wonders of God. Listen to what the Bible says,
- 9:02Psalm 7711. Surely I will remember your
- 9:08wonders of old. There's one thing to remember
- 9:14the works of God. There's another to remember the
- 9:17wonders of God. What's the difference?
- 9:20Listen to what the Bible says. Psalm one O 5 verse #5 Remember
- 9:25his wonder. Psalm 111 verse #4 He has made
- 9:28his wonders to be remembered. Psalm 98 verse #1 O sing to the
- 9:33Lord a new song, for he has done wonderful things.
- 9:41The difference is, is that in Isaiah 96, it says His name
- 9:45shall be called wonderful. So when you remember the wonders
- 9:50of God, you're remembering the God behind all the works that he
- 9:54performs. And the Bible tells us that we
- 9:57do remember those things. And as believers, that's what we
- 10:00do Why? Because the Bible says that the
- 10:03people that I have formed for myself, they will declare my
- 10:07praise. Isaiah 4321.
- 10:09That's our theme verse for our topic, The pathway to praise God
- 10:14made it very clear that those people that I formed for me,
- 10:18they will declare my praise. Well, if that's the case, the
- 10:22reason we do that is because we remember our God, we remember
- 10:27Jesus Christ, we remember our creator and we give glory to his
- 10:32name. Our our lives are consumed with
- 10:35that. And so we have looked at at the
- 10:38privilege of praise. We've looked at the prophet of
- 10:40praise. We've looked at the people of
- 10:42praise last week. It was a prerequisite of praise
- 10:45this week. It's about the priority of
- 10:49praise. Praise is the priority of the
- 10:55believer. It's something that's always,
- 10:58ever present in his life. It's something that rings
- 11:03supreme or reigns supreme in his life because he wants to give
- 11:07praise to his God. He's been created to give praise
- 11:10to God. And so let me give you 6
- 11:14principles that will help you understand why praise is our
- 11:19priority. It will help you as you journey
- 11:21along the pathway to praise. Principle number one is this.
- 11:25Praise is that which escorts us into God's presence.
- 11:35Praise is that which escorts us into God's presence.
- 11:42Listen to the Psalmist Psalm 100.
- 11:46Shout joyfully to the Lord all the earth.
- 11:49Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before him with joyful
- 11:52singing. Know that the Lord Himself is
- 11:55God. It is He who has made us and not
- 11:57we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep
- 12:01of His pasture. Enter His gates with
- 12:06Thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
- 12:12Give thanks to Him, bless his name.
- 12:19Enter his courts with Thanksgiving and enter his gates
- 12:24with praise. The psalmist is speaking about
- 12:28the the temple where the presence of God, the glory of
- 12:32the Lord would would reside. That's that's where the Lord
- 12:36would dwell among his people. This song was made very clear
- 12:41that when you enter into the presence of God, you enter in
- 12:45with shouts of praise and Thanksgiving to God.
- 12:47You enter His courts with praise.
- 12:50You enter His gates with Thanksgiving.
- 12:52Why? Because it escorts you into the
- 12:55presence of God. Now we know that God is
- 12:58omnipresent, right? We know that God is everywhere
- 13:03at the same time, and there's no place that God is not there.
- 13:08He's everywhere. He's omnipresent.
- 13:12It's, it's incomprehensible for us to understand that we can't
- 13:16get that. But he's everywhere.
- 13:19But we don't have a temple we go to, we don't enter into courts
- 13:22and gates with praise because our body is a temple of the Holy
- 13:25Spirit. God dwells within us, right?
- 13:30So the very fact that praise is that which escorts us into the
- 13:34presence of God. In other words, praise is that
- 13:37which allows us to enter into communion with him in such a way
- 13:43that it brings glory to His name.
- 13:46You know, how many times do we feel far away from God or we
- 13:51think that God's nowhere around Israel was always that way?
- 13:56They were always wondering, where is God?
- 13:58How come He's not here to help me?
- 13:59What happened? Is he not listening?
- 14:01Does He not care? Of course He does.
- 14:04He's everywhere. He thought I'm in the present.
- 14:07He's present with you now. But the reason you don't sense
- 14:11God's presence among you is because you refuse to enter that
- 14:16presence with praise. When you begin to praise Him and
- 14:21thank Him and glorify His name, all of a sudden you begin to
- 14:25realize that God is ever present with you.
- 14:28He's always there. He never left.
- 14:33It's, it's when you feel far away from God.
- 14:35It's you who moved, not God. You're trying to move away from
- 14:39him, but in all reality, he is ever present with you.
- 14:43Listen to Psalm 95. Psalm 95 says, Oh, come, let us
- 14:48sing for joy to the Lord. Let us shout joyfully to the
- 14:51rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence
- 14:55with Thanksgiving. I'm going to shout joyfully to
- 15:00Him with salts. It's always about entering the
- 15:06presence of God with a certain attitude, a certain frame of
- 15:12mind, and that is the mind that is willing and ready to praise
- 15:17the true and living God. Because praise is that which
- 15:21escorts us into the presence of the living God.
- 15:27And once it that that praise escorts us into the presence of
- 15:32God #2 praise is that which is, is that which encompasses us in
- 15:40the protection of God. It encompasses us with the
- 15:44protection of God. For only in his presence are we
- 15:50protected. And so the Bible says, and
- 15:54excuse me, Psalm 18, David says these words verse #1 I love you,
- 16:00O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my
- 16:03fortress and my deliverer, my rock, my God, in whom I take
- 16:08refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
- 16:13I call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised, and I am
- 16:18saved from my enemies. David knew that his salvation
- 16:25came because of God, the divine protection of God, and that's
- 16:32why he would call upon the name of the Lord.
- 16:34That's why he recognized that the Lord was worthy of praise,
- 16:38because God was his refuge, his rock, his fortress, his
- 16:43deliverer, his Savior, his bulwark, his shield.
- 16:47God was everything to him, and David recognized that in those
- 16:52years in which he journeyed away from Saul because Saul pursued
- 16:57him relentlessly, that God was his protector.
- 17:00In fact, if you go on and Psalm 18, it says these words later in
- 17:05verse #30 excuse me, ask for God.
- 17:09His way is blameless. The word of the Lord has tried.
- 17:13He's a shield to all who take refuge in him.
- 17:16For who is God but the Lord, and who is a rock except our God?
- 17:22The guy who girds me with strength and makes my way
- 17:26blameless. He makes my feet like Hinds feet
- 17:30and sets me upon my high places. He trains my hands for battle so
- 17:36my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
- 17:39You have also given me the shield of your salvation, and
- 17:43your right hand upholds me, and your gentleness makes me great.
- 17:47You enlarge my steps under me and my feet have not slipped.
- 17:53David writing this after the years in which he fled from Saul
- 17:58and now he's king over Judah and king over Israel.
- 18:02He is, he is looking back and realizing that that God gave him
- 18:05the strength to bend the bow, that God gave him the strength
- 18:08to wield the sword, that God was the one who protected him and
- 18:11watched over him. So that at the end he says this
- 18:13in verse 46. The Lord lives, and blessed be
- 18:17my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation, The God who
- 18:21executes vengeance for me and seduce my seduce peoples under
- 18:25me. He delivers me from my enemies.
- 18:29Surely you lift me above those who rise up against me.
- 18:33You rescue me from the violent man.
- 18:38Therefore excuse me. I will give thanks to you among
- 18:43the nations, O Lord, and I will sing praises to your name.
- 18:49I will give thanks to you. I will, I will sing praises to
- 18:54your name, oh God. Because you see, praise is that
- 18:58which encompasses us with the protection of the God of Israel.
- 19:04God is our protector, God's our provider, He's our shield.
- 19:10And so enter his presence with Thanksgiving and praise, and
- 19:15there there is nothing but protection from God.
- 19:21So we recognize that praise is a priority because it escorts me
- 19:25into the divine presence and it encompasses me with divine
- 19:31protection. And then thirdly, this is where
- 19:34it gets really, really good, as if it's not good already.
- 19:37This is where it gets really, really good.
- 19:40Praise elevates me to the divine perspective.
- 19:45Praise elevates me to the divine perspective, praises that which
- 19:50enables me to see what God is doing.
- 19:55It gives me a a, a clear perspective on the sovereignty
- 19:59and Providence of God being worked out in my life.
- 20:04Every one of us asked the question, God, what are you
- 20:06doing? Why has this happened this way
- 20:09and not that way? Why am I in this situation and
- 20:12not that situation? We always ask God those
- 20:15questions. And yet God is forever faithful,
- 20:19but when you praise Him, He, it elevates you to the divine
- 20:24perspective. Turn to the book of Habakkuk.
- 20:29The book of Habakkuk. He was a prophet in Israel.
- 20:35He was a contemporary of Jeremiah and he has some
- 20:40questions, a question that probably you and I would ask if
- 20:45we were living at that time. And the question simply was,
- 20:49Lord, why are you using the wicked Chaldeans to bring your
- 20:56people into captivity? Why would you use the wicked to
- 21:02come against your people, your chosen people, Israel?
- 21:06Why Lord? So in in chapter 1 of Habakkuk
- 21:11he he simply worries and he wonders what's going to happen
- 21:19to God's people. In chapter 2 he will wait and he
- 21:26will watch as God speaks. And then in chapter 3, he simply
- 21:34worships and witnesses for his God.
- 21:40What would change in the life of Habakkuk?
- 21:45The circumstances never changed. The circumstances would remain
- 21:51the same. God was still going to use the
- 21:55wicked Chaldeans, lead Israel into 70 years of Babylonian
- 22:00captivity. So what changed?
- 22:05Not the circumstances, but Habakkuk's perspective on the
- 22:12circumstances. When that changed, everything
- 22:19was all right. So he says this at the end of
- 22:22Habakkuk chapter 3, verse 16. I heard in my inward parts
- 22:30trembled earlier he says in chapter 3 verse #2 I have heard
- 22:35and report about you, and I fear God spoken in the back of
- 22:44tremble at the sound my lips quivered decay into my bones,
- 22:49and in my place I tremble because I must quietly or wait
- 22:56quietly for the day of distress. I've couldn't realize that I
- 23:03can't change what's going to happen.
- 23:06I've come to realize that the date of stress is going to come
- 23:08upon God's people. I've come to realize that that
- 23:12the wicked Chaldeans will move against us and take God's people
- 23:20into captivity. So because I must wait quietly
- 23:26for the date of stress for the people to arise who will invade
- 23:32us. Though the fig tree should not
- 23:34blossom and there be no fruit on the vines, though the yield of
- 23:40the olive should fail and the fields produce no fruit, though
- 23:46the flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle
- 23:51in the stalls, yet I will exult in the Lord.
- 23:57I will rejoice in the God of my salvation, for the Lord God is
- 24:03my strength and He has made my feet like Heinz feet, sure,
- 24:10steadfast, swift like a deer, and makes me walk on my high
- 24:18places back. His whole perspective changed.
- 24:23God has spoken, so he in effect remembered the word of the Lord.
- 24:34And he would, he would, he would act decisively because he paid
- 24:40very close attention to what God has said.
- 24:45And he realized that in praise it would elevate him to a divine
- 24:50perspective. He would be able to see things
- 24:53from God's point of view, and everyone of us needs to have
- 24:57that kind of perspective. We we think so logically that we
- 25:02can't think theologically. But biblicists think
- 25:07theologically because they think theocentrically.
- 25:11They think God's mind, God's thoughts, and the only way to do
- 25:17that is to be invaded by the Word of God, to be immersed in
- 25:23the Word of God, to know what God has planned and what God has
- 25:28said, to know the the works of God and the ways of God, the
- 25:30wonders of God, to know those things about God and and to
- 25:33realize that God is at work and God has a plan in the back of
- 25:39the prophet of God had to had to learn to wait upon the Lord and
- 25:42say, Lord, what are you doing? I don't get it.
- 25:44These are your people. And God would speak to him and
- 25:47God would show him what he was doing.
- 25:49And all of a sudden he, he would begin to lift his voice and
- 25:52praise to God. Why?
- 25:56Because he would see things from God's perspective.
- 25:59Listen, everything about life has to be seen from God's
- 26:05perspective. When you look at it through your
- 26:08lenses, from the human perspective, things look really,
- 26:12really bad. They look very, very good.
- 26:16Your health might not look very good to you.
- 26:18The doctor might say you're going to die next week.
- 26:20I don't know. From the human perspective, it
- 26:22doesn't look very good. But what's God's perspective?
- 26:26What's God's plan? What is God doing?
- 26:30And all of a sudden, even though you don't know what's happening,
- 26:32you begin to lift your voice and praise.
- 26:34You've entered his courts with Thanksgiving and praise, so
- 26:38you've entered into the divine presence of God, because praise
- 26:42escorts you into that presence. And then you realize that you
- 26:47are protected by that God whose presence you dwell within.
- 26:53And then all of a sudden you begin to see things from God's
- 26:56perspective because you begin to praise him all the more.
- 27:02That's why the Bible says, the people that I have formed for
- 27:04myself, they will declare my praise.
- 27:06Not that they might declare my praise or I hope they declare my
- 27:09praise. No, they will declare my praise.
- 27:12They're going to do this. And when you do, all of a sudden
- 27:16you are elevated to a whole new view, a whole new view because
- 27:23you see things from heaven's perspective that is just so
- 27:29important. God was at work.
- 27:33God was going to do something for Israel that the only way he
- 27:35could accomplish His feet was to get them into captivity for 70
- 27:39years. Yes, they were paying for the
- 27:41consequences of the sin, but God was doing the work in their
- 27:44lives to move them to, to anticipate the arrival of their
- 27:47Messiah. God had a plan for a whole
- 27:52nation, just like He has the plans for you individually.
- 27:57And God is working. And the next time you find
- 28:00yourself with man, what is happening, just lift your voice
- 28:04and praise to the Lord and shout joyfully into His name, and all
- 28:11of a sudden you'll begin to see things very clearly from the
- 28:17divine perspective. Praise escorts us into the
- 28:22divine presence. Praise encompasses us with
- 28:27divine protection. And praise is that which
- 28:31elevates us to the divine perspective #4 praise is that
- 28:41which enables us through divine power.
- 28:48Praise is that which enables us through divine power.
- 28:54You know the Bible says that God has not given us a spirit of
- 28:58timidity, but a spirit of power, the presence of God's Spirit.
- 29:06In Acts chapter 1, the Lord said to his disciples, You shall
- 29:11receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you
- 29:18will be my witnesses. We forget that divine power
- 29:25resides within us and that God wants to enable us to perform
- 29:32under His power, and it's His strength that allows us to do
- 29:39the things He's commanded us to do.
- 29:42There are so many things that we think we can't accomplish, but
- 29:48God says you can because they've already equipped you with my
- 29:52spirit, and my spirit resides within you.
- 29:57The problem is we don't lift our voices in praise to God so that
- 30:03I'm able to understand the divine power within.
- 30:08Go back with me, if you would, to the book of Second Chronicles
- 30:10chapter 20. I've used this illustration
- 30:14before, but I think it's very pertinent to the point where
- 30:17King Jehoshaphat was very much afraid of the Moabites and
- 30:21Ammonites and Edomites that were coming upon the nation of
- 30:23Israel. The armies were innumerable to
- 30:26count, and rightly so. Jehoshaphat began to fear.
- 30:32So the Bible says in verse #2A great multitude is coming
- 30:35against you from beyond the sea, out of a ram, and behold
- 30:39therein. And Getty.
- 30:41Jehoshaphat was afraid and turned his attention to seek the
- 30:45Lord and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
- 30:50So Judah gathered together to seek help from the Lord.
- 30:53They even came from all the cities of Judah to seek the
- 30:58Lord. Here was Jehoshaphat, the king
- 31:02of Israel, who realized his inability to handle this great
- 31:09army. He couldn't do it.
- 31:13His people were outnumbered. The skill of the enemy army was
- 31:19beyond Israel's skill, and he realized his inability to do
- 31:25anything. But soon because of the prophet,
- 31:29he recognized God's sovereignty. And it says, listen, all Judah
- 31:34verse 15 and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat
- 31:39thus says the Lord to you, do not fear or be dismayed because
- 31:43of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours.
- 31:48But gods, that's just such a great verse.
- 31:52Do not fear the multitude. Don't fear the fact that you are
- 31:55so outnumbered you have no chance because the battle is the
- 32:00Lord's. That's just so good.
- 32:04See, we're so busy fighting our own battles that we forget that
- 32:07the battle is the Lord's. So when do we lose?
- 32:10The battle is the Lord's. He goes on to say in verse #17
- 32:14You need not fight in this battle.
- 32:17Station yourself. Set yourself, watch, wait,
- 32:25stand, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf of Judah
- 32:28and Jerusalem. Do not fear or be dismayed.
- 32:31Tomorrow go out to face them, for the Lord is with you or it's
- 32:38with you. You can face this army.
- 32:42And so it says in verse #19 The Levites from the sons of the
- 32:46Coathites and the sons of the Korah heights stood up to praise
- 32:50the Lord God of Israel with a very loud voice.
- 32:55They rose early in the morning, and they went out to the
- 32:57wilderness of Toccoa. And when they went out,
- 32:59Jehoshaphat stood and said, Listen to me, O Judah and
- 33:02inhabitants of Jerusalem, put your trust in the Lord your God,
- 33:06and you will be established. Put your trust in His prophets
- 33:10and succeed. When he had consulted with the
- 33:13people, he appointed those who sang to the Lord, and those who
- 33:17praised Him in holy attire as he went out before the army and
- 33:23said, Give thanks to the Lord for His loving kindness is
- 33:30everlasting. He responded obediently because
- 33:34of God's sovereignty amidst his inability.
- 33:39And what did they do? They begin to sing praises to
- 33:41God at the very end, it says in verse #26 Then on the 4th day
- 33:48they assembled in the valley of Barakah, for there they blessed
- 33:51the Lord, and therefore they have named that place the valley
- 33:55of Barakah, until today. And every man of Judah and
- 33:58Jerusalem returned, which which Ahasa had at their head,
- 34:01returning to Jerusalem with joy, for the Lord had made them to
- 34:05rejoice over their enemies. The story is so incredible to
- 34:14realize that that all they did was begin to sing to the Lord,
- 34:18and the enemies annihilated themselves.
- 34:22You just need to remember that next time you get in the fight,
- 34:25just start singing to the Lord, Give Him praise to His glorious
- 34:29name. They knew that God would be with
- 34:32them. They knew that God would fight
- 34:35for them. The prophet told him.
- 34:38So they waited, but they gave praise to God, because praise is
- 34:44that which enables us through divine power.
- 34:49When we begin to praise God, the power of God is unleashed in our
- 34:54lives. Instead of grumbling and
- 34:57complaining about what's happening in my life, I begin to
- 35:01praise God for what He's doing because He's going to do things
- 35:04beyond whatever I can ever imagine.
- 35:07Remember Paul and Silas when they were in prison Act 16?
- 35:11They had been beaten and they were in stocks and chains.
- 35:15What did they do? They began to sing, begin to
- 35:20pray and begin to sing. Did, did.
- 35:23Did Paul and Status know the chains were going to come off?
- 35:27Nope. Did they know the jail doors are
- 35:31going to be open? Nope.
- 35:34That's not why they were singing.
- 35:36They were singing because the people that I have formed for
- 35:39myself, they will declare my praise no matter what the
- 35:42circumstance. And so they did.
- 35:46And lo and behold, the chains fell off, the doors flew open.
- 35:50God was doing the work. Why?
- 35:51Because praise enables us through divine power.
- 35:59And so we're so busy worrying about things and complaining
- 36:04about things and griping about things that we forget that we
- 36:08are to praise Him in everything and for everything.
- 36:13And praise that which enables us to divine power #5 this is so
- 36:19good. Praise envelops us with divine
- 36:22peace. Praise envelops us with divine
- 36:30peace. You know this verse, Philippians
- 36:334 verse #6 Be anxious for nothing, OK?
- 36:41Larry says stop worrying. But we worry, don't we?
- 36:47We get very anxious. We're, we're, we're very much
- 36:53anxiety driven. Our palms become sweaty, our
- 36:58brow becomes filled with beads of sweat, our pits become smelly
- 37:02because all we do is live anxious lives.
- 37:06And the Bible says be anxious for nothing.
- 37:08Matthew 6, Christ did the same thing.
- 37:11Don't worry about what you're going to wear tomorrow.
- 37:12Don't worry about about how long you're going to live.
- 37:15But what do we do? We worry about how long we're
- 37:17going to live. We worry that we're going to die
- 37:18tomorrow. We're worried about somebody
- 37:19going to get cancer in my family.
- 37:21Why? Why do you do that?
- 37:22All your days are numbered. You can't add to it or subtract
- 37:27from it. It's all numbered.
- 37:30But we'll be worried about how long we're going to live.
- 37:32We worry about what clothes we're going to wear.
- 37:35We worry about everything in life and and and Christ gives
- 37:39the command don't do this because to do it as a sin to do
- 37:43it as a sin. We don't see worry as a sin, but
- 37:46it is. We don't see anxiety as a sin,
- 37:48but it is be anxious for nothing.
- 37:53The Bible says why tells you, but in everything by prayer and
- 38:00suffocation with Thanksgiving. See, our problem is we spend
- 38:07more time in petition and not enough time and praise.
- 38:12Look at your prayer life. You're asking God for this.
- 38:15You're asking God for that because you want this and you
- 38:18want that. You keep asking and asking and
- 38:21asking and asking and asking, but not praising.
- 38:27Our prayers are filled with petition, but they should be
- 38:31filled with praise. So he says, be anxious for
- 38:35nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
- 38:38Thanksgiving. Every petition is coupled with
- 38:41Thanksgiving. Every supplication is surrounded
- 38:44with Thanksgiving. Every time you ask God for
- 38:46something, you praise God for something.
- 38:50Just keep praising them. When you do that, when you do
- 38:54that, it says, and the peace of God, which surpasses all
- 39:00comprehension, will guard your heart and mind.
- 39:08Guard it from what? Anxiety, worry, doubt.
- 39:18Why is that? Our lives are filled with worry
- 39:20and doubt? Because when we pray, we don't
- 39:22pray with Thanksgiving, we don't pray with praise, we don't pray
- 39:29thanking God for what he's going to do and how he's going to do
- 39:33it. We're just so worried that he's
- 39:35going to even hear my prayer and answer my prayer.
- 39:38We're we're even anxious about that.
- 39:41And most be anxious for nothing. But in everything, not some
- 39:45things, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
- 39:48Thanksgiving. That's the key.
- 39:51Let your requests be made known unto God.
- 39:54When that happens, the peace of God, which surpasses all human
- 39:59comprehension. In other words, you can't
- 40:01understand this on the human level.
- 40:04It's beyond a human intelligence.
- 40:08It's divine peace and God wants to surround you with his peace
- 40:14in your heart. It will guard your heart.
- 40:17It will protect your heart from from from all kinds of sweat
- 40:22just does from being anxious, being worried.
- 40:27Because praise is simply that which enables us to divine power
- 40:34and envelops us with divine peace.
- 40:39I wonder if you live a life of peace and tranquility and
- 40:44serenity? Or is your life filled with
- 40:48worry and anxiousness about all kinds of things that just really
- 40:52don't matter in the long run? And so many times we forget that
- 40:57our prayers need to be more about praising God than
- 41:01petitioning God. When they are, then the peace of
- 41:07God, which goes beyond all kinds of human comprehension, is going
- 41:13to guard you, protect you, watch over you, allow you to sleep at
- 41:19night, allow you to go through life without sweaty palms.
- 41:26A lot of you go through life relaxing in the sovereignty of
- 41:30the living God. And lastly, praise is that which
- 41:37enriches us in divine pleasure. Praise is that which enriches us
- 41:45in divine pleasure. Psalm 69, verse #30 I will
- 41:54praise the name of God with song and magnify him with
- 41:59Thanksgiving, and it will please the Lord.
- 42:07Praise that which enriches us with divine pleasure.
- 42:12Don't you? Don't you want to please the
- 42:13Lord? Praise does that, Thanksgiving
- 42:19does it. That's why it's a priority.
- 42:22That's why it's highest on our list.
- 42:24Why? Because dandy, we just want to
- 42:26please the Lord. That's all.
- 42:27We want to honor the Lord, magnify His name.
- 42:32And so when we praise Him and magnify Him and give Him the
- 42:35thanks to His name, the Lord is pleased.
- 42:42Lord is pleased with that more than any other sacrifice that we
- 42:44make, because it's truly the sacrifice of praise that brings
- 42:49glory in to His name and pleases Him.
- 42:53And so This is why praise is such a divine priority for us is
- 42:57because our whole life is, is wrapped up and pleasing God,
- 43:01honoring God, That's what you want to do.
- 43:06So praise then is the priority of the believer as we journey
- 43:10down the pathway of praise. It is a long, long pathway.
- 43:17And as you journey down that pathway of praise, there are
- 43:19many crevices, there are many obstacles, there are many
- 43:23hindrances that will try to knock you off that pathway.
- 43:29But as long as praise remains your priority, then no matter
- 43:34what the obstacle, no matter what the hardship or difficulty,
- 43:39no matter how deep the crevice, how big the cracks, makes no
- 43:43difference, you will continue to journey giving praise to your
- 43:49God. Let's pray together.
- 43:51Lord, we thank you for today. We thank you for your word.
- 43:56Forgive us Lord for for not praising you as we should.
- 44:01Praise seems to be the lost art of the Christian today.
- 44:08We know a lot about God, but we don't praise you enough for who
- 44:12you are. We'd like to pray to you and ask
- 44:16for things, but don't want to praise you for your will being
- 44:20done. We want to go through life
- 44:25anxiously waiting about what's going to happen this week or
- 44:30tomorrow, in school, at work, with this person, with that
- 44:34person. And yet we just need to rest in
- 44:40God, trust in the Lord, knowing that you have everything under
- 44:47control. The battle is not ours.
- 44:51The battle is the Lord's. You are our protector.
- 44:56You are our provider. You are our peace.
- 45:02You are everything. Forgive us, Lord, for not seeing
- 45:07you as such. Pray, Lord, that You would take
- 45:11us, make us, and mold us into the people You want us to be.
