So today on more organized less clutter. I'm talking with Mirin, the founder of Madge Beauty and the Geelong's Women Business. Club. She is on a mission to help women show up boldly and simplify also their beauty routines with clean multi-use products made for people on the go. Welcome, Mirin. Hello. speaker-1: Thank you so much for having me. It's amazing to be here. I'm really excited. speaker-0: No, it's great to have you and have you to share a bit about your business and also about the actual products and why myself if if first of all was like drawn to it and went, ⁓ my gosh, why have I not heard about this before? ⁓ when it's the multi use thing. speaker-1: Multi use that's that's what mad really represents. We're all about that multi use product. speaker-0: Yeah, which I love. I absolutely love that. So let's start so people can get to know you. If you were a Barbie doll, what to accessories would you come with? Gosh, I speaker-1: that what two accessories. Definitely definitely my ⁓ some form of makeup for sure. I'm gonna say like a lip gloss or a you know something like that. And I would say definitely one of my handbags for sure. Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah. A particular one? Is there a favorite? Well speaker-1: ⁓ at the moment it's my Louis Vuitton, my Louis Vuitton that I for Mother's Day actually. So Yes. Yeah. That would be my trip at the moment. speaker-0: Beautiful. And for you, the liquid, it could be the multi use because you can then use it in all different parts of your face, can't you? So that speaker-1: One hundred percent, which is amazing. So our lip iron cheat tint is multi-use at Magwere. Like I said, we're all about multi-use products. So it can be used on the eye, the lips and the cheeks, which is absolutely incredible. It's a little pocket size as well. Like you can just throw that in the handbag. Like it's so good. speaker-0: Yes. And that's what I love about it, the fact that you can use it for all three and yeah, it looks great and it's easy to take around with you. Easy. So if I was to come to your house as a professional organizer, what area would you love some help with? speaker-1: Yes. Yeah, so definitely I would say my walk-in robe and like vanity area. I do love like everything just like perfectly placed and like structure so that like, you know, perfect scenario, you wake up in the morning, you walk into your walk in robe and everything's just sorted and that to me is like pure bliss. And then obviously that vanity area where you do do your, you know, skincare and makeup, etc. speaker-0: Yeah. And so it's all accessible but also just easier to find. Like it's not speaker-1: Fine. We want practical and convenient, right? We want to be like just you know, getting in there, doing what we need to do and and making it more practical, like w more streamlined, structure, like all of that. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. I don't like you've actually motivated me. So when I came back from buying the products, I like, Right, I use these in the morning, so they're in the morning section and this I use when I go out, I'm only gonna keep them together. And it's been so much easier to bring up onto the bench and just grab those ones that you need. speaker-1: Absolutely, like having that structure in that sense is to be like these are the products I use in the morning, then I'm gonna have them here and then the ones that like I'll potentially put in my bag I can have here and then there's the evening ones, right? Like just that that real structure is just amazing for me. Like everything all plays perfect. speaker-0: Yeah, it makes such a difference, doesn't it? Yes. speaker-1: Difference, such a difference. And especially like the bonuses, then if they're multi use products, it's like Big Tick. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I need just one there. So what tell us about the business. So what were some of the strengths that you bring to Madge that Yeah, that's Madge but also the business club as well, like the women's business club. speaker-1: Okay, perfect. So firstly with Madge, like I I am a serial entrepreneur, I always have been. So with Madge, Madge was birthed out of, you know, me wanting to create some form of a product business. And I wasn't sure what that was. ⁓ I've been in business for a long time, obviously. And you know, it was a it's a classic founder story. I was like, I could not find this one product where I could just put on my skin and you know, give me that instant glow and multi-use as well. Coming back to multi-use. And also, you know, I'm a big believer and I'm very aligned to that makeup, no makeup look, you know, skincare meets makeup hybrids. And I'm like, I love everything aesthetically pleasing. I love beauty. And like I said, that serial entrepreneur in me, I'm like, what's next? And I'm like product-based. I'm like, it's a no-brainer. I'll create a beauty brand. So it all sort of organically rolled from there. And just, you know, my values, what things I'm aligned to, creating that product that I just couldn't find on the market out there, classic founder story. So that's how, you know, Madge sort of come about. ⁓ and then Geelong Women's Business Club, you know, I'm really all about humanity and charity and giving back and, you know, trying to empower and inspire as much as I can. So it was a no-brainer again for me to create something like this. I could see a real gap in the market in Geelong here. I used to go to events in Melbourne all the time and I'm like, Geelong needs something like this, but more of a community space where people, you know, are welcome and there's no ego, there's no mask. You know, you leave that at the door, you come in, you just be your most authentic self and and have fun, right? And learn and walk away with, you know, golden nuggets and knowledge and wisdom. So that's how that come about as well. We launched, ⁓ well, I launched Jelong Women's Business Club back in 2019. And now we just go Australia wide so I can reach more, more women, more people. speaker-0: That's fantastic. And so obviously that was just before COVID then. speaker-1: It was, it was just before COVID and then when COVID hit we had to jump onto Zoom and and that was great because I just wanted to keep the community alive still. And then throughout COVID, you know how we had those spaces where you could open up again and then close and you could have like thirty people or forty people. So we still had, you know, l smaller sort of events and within that time frame through COVID. But we just kept it kept it going, which is great. speaker-0: So that real strength of bringing people together and that connection and just like your warm personality obviously attracts so many people and yeah, and then they feel open to share about their own business and things towards. speaker-1: Absolutely. And that that's what it's all about, Nourell. Like, you know, them getting to the event and not feeling nervous to go there or to be able to go there by themselves, not feel like they need to put on a persona or be anyone but themselves. And it's a safe space to just show up and be there, right? And just just gain all the knowledge. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. And share the business experiences because people who aren't in business don't get it. speaker-1: Exactly. And that's it's a space for us to all come together and share our our wins, our our, you know, things that are stressful, like just everything. And and it's refreshing that we can all come together and be there in that space and and just be able to communicate together and the amount of collaborations that have come, you know, out of these events, et cetera, is it's just huge. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. So before these, what was there anything that held you back from like showing up at these t in these two capacities? speaker-1: Wow. Okay. So I I'm definitely someone who works on myself all the time for sure. So I've always like looking back been really successful with everything that like I've done. But then once I started really working on myself, that's when it was like a game changer in the sense of everything went to new heights. Like more success, etc. So what I'm trying to say here is the fact that honestly you need to get yourself right and your mindset right first before anything else will be successful. Like full stop period. It's like so important to do that. So I had to take a step back and go, okay, I where do I need to work on myself here? I mean, I'm human, everyone is all throughout my life, you know, I'm I'm successful, I'm doing these things. But I even had the noise of like, you know, can I do this or what are people going to think or what if it fails or what have you. So that was a a work in progress that I had to work on. And ever since doing that, wow, I'm just like I'm literally fearless. I take the leap of faith. I don't care what anyone thinks. And that's from me working on myself. And now it's proof that it's like even more success for me now purely 'cause I I've done the work. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, fantastic. And I'm sure that then is inspiring to other women and other women in business as well. It is. speaker-1: Absolutely. And I I really hope, you know, me sharing that and being vulnerable does ⁓ you know, inspire people that you know, we're all human and we all do have that that noise in our heads sometimes, you know, and and I I can't reference enough just how, you know, any woman in business or anybody in business, do the work on yourself first, like your mindset, because that's what's gonna catapult you to the next level. speaker-0: Definitely. Yeah. So is there anything else that you would say recommend for people to do if they're thinking about, you know, starting their own business or building a business for themselves? Yeah, absolutely. speaker-1: So yeah, number one, definitely ⁓ mindset, critique that. And also, you know, the thing is us as humans, we can't do everything ourselves. It's really, really important ⁓ to outsource and get a team around you because you know, when you need to and as your company grows, you need to obviously, you know, hire a team. And and that was a hard thing for me as well initially because I'm quite stubborn in the sense of like, I'll do it all and I can do it all. You know, so initially for me that was quite hard. So I can't reference that enough either to make sure that, you know, you're getting the team around you outsourcing, getting the mentors, ⁓ you know, but also just going for it and taking that leap of faith, being fearless. If you've got that you know, desire on your heart. It's there for a reason. Go for it. Jump into it because sometimes like, you know, you just learn along the way as well. speaker-0: Definitely definitely learn along the way, don't we? speaker-1: We do we do. Like we literally do. Like sometimes if you think about you need to have it all right, well then you never start, you know. Yeah. speaker-0: I love though the point too about having mentors. Mentors are so important throughout the journey and someone to actually talk with as well. ⁓ speaker-1: Absolutely. Like it's it's a no brainer. Like that's my favorite word if you haven't noticed. It it's it's so important to k to seek all the help and the advice and you know, even knowledge from people that have done it before, like all of that are very, very important if you're wanting to be starting a business. Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah, definitely. Yeah. So tell us more then. Let's go back to Madge Range. It's designed for women on the go. What are some of the benefits of the multi use products? speaker-1: There's so many benefits. Like our ingredients are essentially skincare loving ingredients. We've got all the beautiful ingredients in it. So so MADG essentially is a makeup brand, hybrid skincare. So anti aging, hydration, ⁓ the the multi use factor is one of our biggest benefits. So we try to have that multi use aspect in every single product that we have. So that's a key element, definitely for MADG. ⁓ but also just, you know, that we just want to emphasize that. glass, skin, makeup, no makeup look. Also like practical, f you know, five little steps, takes five minutes to get ready. Not this big glam. Like literally without products. There, it's like your essentials. You grab them, they're multi use, you put them on, you're ready, you're good to go to walk out the door within two minutes. That's what I want. That's why I created it. I'm a busy mum. I just want to wake up in the morning, go Put my primer on, give me that instant glow, put a bit of like cheek, eye and lip on, and I'm ready to go, right? Like it's just as simple as that. Simplifying the process so it's not so complicated. speaker-0: Yeah. And you've then like you've that's two products literally you needed to put on and that was it then. That's speaker-1: That's it. That's it. And your face your face is done, right? Like so yeah, it's that's essentially why, you know, we we created Magfor for all of those kind of reasons, which is which is amazing. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. And I love that like I book purchased it, but I also purchased some for my daughter. And I was like I was a bit like, is she gonna use it or not? But she did. So another thing I found with it, it's actually multi age as well, because it's that, you know, one step and they can do that one step and then it's, you know, on your way. Especially the ⁓ primer. I think that was speaker-1: Absolutely. Absolutely. And that's one thing I didn't mention. It is for all ages. We've got like teenage girls through to women in their seventies. Like literally, you know, it it is very Gen Z, but then it's like it's it's mums and it's all like even, you know, sixties and seventies as well. So it's literally open age for everybody. And that's what I wanted to create that as well. And I think at the end of the day, Madge I just want women or people to wear it and just feel beautiful and empowered within themselves. speaker-0: And so just a quick question in regards to like 'cause I do s I did see it on your website and stuff, is people ask about the different like their skin tone. It doesn't really matter though that much, does it? Like there's it it still works, doesn't it? It's speaker-1: Still does, absolutely. With our products, our clear clear primer essentially is like a a glow moisturizer or you know, something to put on your skin before you wear foundation. If you wear foundation. Yeah. Our light to medium is a beautiful tone. You can mix it with our medium to dark, or you can wear it as a concealer. And medium to dark can be worn, you know, alone or as a contour or very multi-use on your body. Like it it really it it doesn't matter. Like it's they're very versatile. speaker-0: Yeah. And and it's actually got sunscreen in it too. speaker-1: Yes. So it's so what what it we we don't class ourselves as a sunscreen, but we are a cosmetic with an SBF ingredient in it, which is amazing. So yes, we've got that sun protection, which is spot on, like extra bonus. The fact that it's got the SBF fifty, amazing. speaker-0: And I love that during winter time when I still wouldn't need it because I'm outside or driving and it's like, ⁓ no, I'm okay. I don't need that now 'cause I've got it in what I'm wearing. Yeah. It's speaker-1: So good. It's so good. And that's when when I was creating it, I'm like, ⁓ it I've I've got to just add this bonus because I hate putting on moisturizer and then like sunscreen. And like I said, like you I sometimes put sunscreen over that you know, over the as well, but it's there if you don't want to, right? So it's great. speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. And so for you or for anyone who's listening, their decision making in the morning, it's really helping to just simplify it and make it that simple clean girl habits. Cause you do have, maybe even clarify for us that clean girl, like 'cause I hear it everywhere and especially in particular online, what what does it mean and how is that making, you know, these simple clean girl habits? speaker-1: I love that. So to me, Clean Girl is just like simplifying your routine. It's very clean skin. It's minimal. It's cutting it back to the basics. It's like you're getting up. It's fresh. You're getting yourself done within two minutes. That's the clean girl to me. Glass skin. Not overcomplicated. And and that's why you're hearing about it because it's such a thing. And people want practical and convenient. They want to wake up in the morning and, you know, grab a couple of products. Put it on, keep it clean still, but you're good to go. speaker-0: Yeah. Yes, the least amount of products, the better. And and just steps. It's like reducing that decision making. ⁓ do I have to do yeah, like you said before, do I have to put the moisturizer on and the sunscreen today and this it's just one thing and you're putting that one thing on. Absolutely. speaker-1: Absolutely. And that's too much. Like it it's too much when you've got you've got to go this, this, this and this. So cut it back and that's that's nice. And it and it's simple as well. And it's, you know, ⁓ a skincare meets makeup, which gives it that clean girl look as well. It's not full glam makeup. I mean, people who love full glam makeup, I love that. That's amazing. But like I love the the simple clean girl look. speaker-0: Yes. And for neurodivergent folk like myself, I definitely love the idea of just those simple couple of products and I can take them anywhere I need to throw them in my handbag, but even take them away with me as well. And it's not the whole range of everything I need to take on. speaker-1: I love that. It's like more practical for your brain, right? speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. The less steps the better. Like, yeah. So what about ca like caring for them, looking after ⁓ Because as you said, like vegan formulas, is it anything in particular you need to do with a skincare hybrid to look after them? Without speaker-1: Products, not really. Obviously they're they are all ⁓ vegan, which is incredible. I'm a big believer in all of that. ⁓ we do have a shelf life, but look honestly, like that they c they come and they're there. You know what I mean? There's no real ⁓ elements of like what care you need to ⁓ do, but obviously just looking after them, right? Is is the first step really. speaker-0: Yeah, so like if not keeping them in the heat, like you wouldn't leave it in your car. speaker-1: Certainly not really, really good, really good question. Actually, for example, our lip iron cheat tint, which is a jelly form. Yeah. So you definitely would not be ⁓ keeping them in a heated space or you know, anything like that. Like quite standard, like most, you know, cosmetics or beauty products, keeping it like at a room temperature, etc. But especially our jelly form that essentially can melt. So speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: Yeah, like s like I think I had one person say one time, Is this jelly? Can it melt? And I'm like, Well of course, it's like it's jelly, really. So yeah, so definitely like all our products, you know, caring for them how how you would s you know, normally, but definitely with the with the jelly for sure. speaker-0: It's so funny, you say it normally, but th you would be surprised how many people do not know how to how to care. speaker-1: So like turn to like having them, you know, place lovely in room temperature, you know, all those kind of things because it's giving the quality of the product, you know, what it needs. Because if you've left your product, even if it's your primer or your lip gloss or what have you, in a heated room, you've really lost the n lost the nourishment essentially out of it. So that's so, so important. speaker-0: Yeah. And do you find then in hot warmer, humid climates, obviously we're in a cooler climate generally, apart from in summer, do you find that then that's where people might have more problems with her? Like they'll keep it in a cooler place, like a fridge. People have those little fridge. speaker-1: Yeah, I those little French things. I wonder if anyone like I've never people probably are storing magin there essentially. I'm not I'm ⁓ I'm not taught to be honest, but for us, like I find we haven't had any any issues ri touch woods. So so that's fantastic. I think it's it's quite like you said, it is common knowledge, but not for everybody, right? Where where to store things except So yeah, like w we do have it stated on our ⁓ website, you know, how to open them. Little things like that as well though, I I need to reference. So like directions on how to open things. Some people like a really like rip it off and and then I'm like, you I think we had one instant one time and I'm like, you do realize it's jelly. You've got to be really cautious and careful. So there is clear direction and instructions on even how to open, you know, our products i as well, which I think is really, really important for for our person who's who's buying the product to have that clear clarity on all those kind of things. speaker-0: Definitely. Yeah, yeah. ⁓ thank you so much for going through that and also just sharing a bit about your story. Where can people find you? What's the best place? speaker-1: I love that. So definitely on our website for sure, www.madgebeauty.com or our Instagram, Magbeauty, or even my Instagram, Meren Schnabel. Would love to connect with anybody. And yeah, but please jump over to our website or our Instagram page and give us a follow. And yeah, more than happy. Send me a DM. Any questions, more than happy.
