I am Jeff Packen joined every single week for my close little 10 00:00:36,880 --> 00:00:42,680 doctorate, Franklin, Dr. Trey. Happy birthday, my friend. 11 00:00:42,680 --> 00:00:47,880 Aw, you remember. Thank you. I feel awful because I had a miss last week's show 12 00:00:47,880 --> 00:00:53,160 because of family stuff, and then I was kind of down on myself. 13 00:00:53,160 --> 00:00:59,480 Jeff, I kid you not. Over 300 people wish me a happy birthday on Facebook. 14 00:00:59,480 --> 00:01:02,720 And I was like, "Wow, you like me. You really like me." 15 00:01:02,720 --> 00:01:11,520 Now that was 300 out of like 4,500 friends, so it wasn't a huge number, but to have people 16 00:01:11,520 --> 00:01:15,040 reach out, wish me a happy birthday. I just went back because I've been so busy. 17 00:01:15,040 --> 00:01:20,080 I haven't got chance to go through and personally respond to everybody yet, because I think 18 00:01:20,080 --> 00:01:24,080 that might take at least an hour or an hour and a half. 19 00:01:24,080 --> 00:01:29,040 Yeah, I haven't had that much time yet, but I really appreciate it. I really appreciate 20 00:01:29,040 --> 00:01:34,320 everybody reaching out. You guys make an old man feel pretty warm and fuzzy on the inside. 21 00:01:34,320 --> 00:01:38,600 What's funny is before the show, I was going to lead in with Happy Birthday and another year 22 00:01:38,600 --> 00:01:42,960 again, old. And literally, as we were getting ready to record, Dr. Trey is telling me how 23 00:01:42,960 --> 00:01:47,360 old everybody feels around me. I'm like, "Okay, so he's taking the wind out of my 24 00:01:47,360 --> 00:01:53,080 sales where it's like, "Did you wake up and did your back give out my friend?" 25 00:01:53,080 --> 00:01:57,840 It was another birthday. And he's like, "Tell me about a friend of his who woke up with 26 00:01:57,840 --> 00:02:03,640 arthritis, percidus." Because it's so true. I mean, once you hit a certain age, I hate 27 00:02:03,640 --> 00:02:11,880 to sound old, but I think for me, when I would play sports, I would still think I was like 28 00:02:11,880 --> 00:02:15,480 in my teens or my 20s on the way that I could move. 29 00:02:15,480 --> 00:02:21,560 I played softball. I've even played softball since we've had a son in the adult leagues and 30 00:02:21,560 --> 00:02:27,520 slow pitch, beer leagues, love doing all that stuff. And I feel good after the game, it was 31 00:02:27,520 --> 00:02:32,880 the next day, Dr. Trey, where I'd be like, "I can't. My quadriceps are burning. My back is 32 00:02:32,880 --> 00:02:37,640 killing. My shoulder feels like it needs surgery. And I'm pretty sure I need to go to orthopedic 33 00:02:37,640 --> 00:02:43,480 to get Tommy John." That happened to me probably starting 35 years old, no kidding at all. 34 00:02:43,480 --> 00:02:49,480 Yeah, like it's, I mean, I've been, I've been now in the wrestling business close to 11 35 00:02:49,480 --> 00:02:55,800 years. In 11 years, 11 years ago, I was taking bumps on concrete off the apron, off 36 00:02:55,800 --> 00:03:02,240 raps. Like I very seldom ever bumped in an actual wrestling ring. It was always somewhere 37 00:03:02,240 --> 00:03:07,840 else. And I had to wake up the next day and I'd be fine. And now it's like, "Oh, we just 38 00:03:07,840 --> 00:03:15,000 had wrestling con, wrestling con eight about two weeks ago." And literally like the next day 39 00:03:15,000 --> 00:03:21,440 I'm like, "Damn, my back hurts, my knees hurt, my voice is blown out like just nothing 40 00:03:21,440 --> 00:03:27,240 felt good the next day." And it took me almost like an extra six, eight hours to recover 41 00:03:27,240 --> 00:03:33,080 after sleeping it off to get going. But yeah, it's, it's, I think part of it is also the 42 00:03:33,080 --> 00:03:37,200 fact that like, and you and I have talked about this several times as you've gotten older 43 00:03:37,200 --> 00:03:41,320 because you're kind of trying to play catch up with me a little bit here on age. And it's 44 00:03:41,320 --> 00:03:47,520 just that the older you get, the faster the day goes by. And it just never feels like your 45 00:03:47,520 --> 00:03:52,640 body is actually given enough time to rest and recover, which is probably why the older we 46 00:03:52,640 --> 00:03:58,080 get until you get to like retirement age. You just feel just worn down, beat up, and 47 00:03:58,080 --> 00:04:02,760 tired every day. Also, I've been getting this feeling since I became a parent, Dr. Troy, 48 00:04:02,760 --> 00:04:08,040 I just feel like I'm playing constant catch up to anything. Yes, you're never ahead. No, 49 00:04:08,040 --> 00:04:15,760 like I mean, you have one. I have three. Now, great, a two of them are basically self-sufficient. 50 00:04:15,760 --> 00:04:21,040 But yeah, when you're costly, changing diapers, doing all the stuff of the baby that eats 51 00:04:21,040 --> 00:04:26,520 up a large part of your day, then you also have work and then you also have married life, 52 00:04:26,520 --> 00:04:31,320 which never set, like never combined married life and parenthood. Those are two separate 53 00:04:31,320 --> 00:04:36,560 things I had to learn the hard way. But like you just, there's just never enough time in the 54 00:04:36,560 --> 00:04:41,440 day to accomplish everything. So the next day, you're already starting off your list like 55 00:04:41,440 --> 00:04:46,000 three hours behind. And then next thing you know is like you're, you're going to think of 56 00:04:46,000 --> 00:04:51,240 vacation and you realize that one of your vacation days has turned into a work day to catch 57 00:04:51,240 --> 00:04:58,080 up on the 20 hours you're behind on, on other stuff because of parenthood and and pet hood. 58 00:04:58,080 --> 00:05:02,440 Don't discount pet hood as well. No, that is definitely something that plays a major role 59 00:05:02,440 --> 00:05:10,320 as well with the pets. So yeah, it's just when we first started doing the show, now 15 years 60 00:05:10,320 --> 00:05:17,520 ago. So I would have been 23, 24. We'll read you with that one. 61 00:05:17,520 --> 00:05:27,080 That was 15. 33? Yeah, so here we are, my friend. I'm entering 39 this year and I'm 62 00:05:27,080 --> 00:05:36,760 dreading to do 40. My daughter was slightly older than Luke when we started the show and she's 63 00:05:36,760 --> 00:05:42,880 graduating high school in two weeks. Yeah, so there we go folks. My son is almost 11 months 64 00:05:42,880 --> 00:05:48,680 old. So yeah, just this became two young guys talking about professional wrestling and now 65 00:05:48,680 --> 00:05:53,120 it's just two old guys yelling at clouds and professional wrestling. So welcome. What are 66 00:05:53,120 --> 00:05:59,840 the names of the muppets that sat in the balcony and just yelled at the cast? God, yeah, 67 00:05:59,840 --> 00:06:06,300 man, I know those names too. I do too. And I blanked on it because I started picturing Paul 68 00:06:06,300 --> 00:06:13,520 Hamon for a second. Stattler and Walter. Yes, we start off being the young guys now returning 69 00:06:13,520 --> 00:06:18,720 to Stattler and Walter. Like really quickly. Ah, here we are back in my day. That's how 70 00:06:18,720 --> 00:06:23,400 I always feel like when we like reference the attitude error as like the glory days and it 71 00:06:23,400 --> 00:06:28,560 was. I mean, that's legitimate. I mean, that was the glory days for me a professional 72 00:06:28,560 --> 00:06:32,520 wrestling. Like if Bruce Bingstein's glory days is playing, I'm like thinking of and I'm 73 00:06:32,520 --> 00:06:37,000 thinking about wrestling. Like that's the era is that generation I lived on and I've always 74 00:06:37,000 --> 00:06:41,760 talked I mean, you mentioned it just now where like time just goes by faster and we've 75 00:06:41,760 --> 00:06:47,840 talked about something show for me when I became a wrestling fan like I was so born in 76 00:06:47,840 --> 00:06:55,280 2006. Vagely was in a wrestling here and there and like 89, 90, 91, 92, like new of Hogan 77 00:06:55,280 --> 00:07:00,560 Savage would periodically tune in, watch it with my dad, that type of stuff really wasn't 78 00:07:00,560 --> 00:07:06,160 full blown into wrestling until the summer of 93 when I went to a friend's house and WWE 79 00:07:06,160 --> 00:07:12,440 left superstars was on at noon time on Saturday morning following Saturday morning cartoons. 80 00:07:12,440 --> 00:07:17,080 Man, I miss those days and they were doing the Lex Express, all American tour getting ready 81 00:07:17,080 --> 00:07:22,480 for summer slam 93 against Yokozuna and that's when I started to really get involved in 82 00:07:22,480 --> 00:07:29,200 professional wrestling from 93 till about 2001 like we're talking invasion angle all that 83 00:07:29,200 --> 00:07:35,520 stuff. That took me into my high school years that to me, Dr. Tri felt like 20 years of 84 00:07:35,520 --> 00:07:41,560 professional wrestling like that to me is like a huge gap of like that was a really, really 85 00:07:41,560 --> 00:07:45,800 long time when essentially it was just eight years and eight years ago here we are in 86 00:07:45,800 --> 00:07:54,480 2005. So eight years ago would have been 2017 and that was like Kenny Omega and Kuzuchko 87 00:07:54,480 --> 00:08:01,440 caught a tearing up in New Japan, a bullet club on the rise. I think at that point who 88 00:08:01,440 --> 00:08:08,400 else was kind of tearing it up there was it like was that the Lesnar, WrestleMania 34, was 89 00:08:08,400 --> 00:08:14,680 that the one that you were at, WrestleMania 33 like Cena, Miz, Futing, that type of stuff. 90 00:08:14,680 --> 00:08:22,680 So yeah, 34 was Lesnar reigns because that's when Sammy was made in East of six, right? 91 00:08:22,680 --> 00:08:28,920 So yeah, like that's, well AJ had already come in to WWE at that point. So that was like 92 00:08:28,920 --> 00:08:34,680 it would, to me it was when AJ joined the bullet club is when kind of all of this stuff kind 93 00:08:34,680 --> 00:08:39,760 of kicked off because it was like, oh my God, that's the TNA guy, he's in Japan and now he 94 00:08:39,760 --> 00:08:46,280 made Japanese wrestling kind of cool and because we didn't know who Finn Balor was really unless 95 00:08:46,280 --> 00:08:51,160 you were a diehard fan, but all of us knew who AJ was and so that made us start watching 96 00:08:51,160 --> 00:08:56,360 New Japan and we're like, oh my God, this stuff is really cool and then when they kicked AJ 97 00:08:56,360 --> 00:09:02,040 out and Kenny kind of took over, we're like, this is, that's when you and I really started 98 00:09:02,040 --> 00:09:06,760 championing the new Golden Age of Wrestling. Yeah, it was around that time. 99 00:09:06,760 --> 00:09:11,720 And that to me just felt like yesterday, which if you asked me in 2001, like what was the 100 00:09:11,720 --> 00:09:17,040 1993 wrestling like for you in 94 wrestling and be like, oh, that was like 20 years ago, 101 00:09:17,040 --> 00:09:22,240 which is not, it's, it's just insane. And it's funny because there's, and part of it's 102 00:09:22,240 --> 00:09:30,920 also because there's a gap in there from, oh nine through about 2012 that we, like, oh 103 00:09:30,920 --> 00:09:36,200 seven, oh eight through about 20, 12 that we kind of try to block out wrestling because it just 104 00:09:36,200 --> 00:09:41,880 wasn't really good. I could not agree with you more. I remember Smackdown being like unwatchable. 105 00:09:41,880 --> 00:09:49,640 This is when they have like, like Tyler Rex on there, like, there'd be always these names that 106 00:09:49,640 --> 00:09:55,160 just like, do you remember they wrestled there and then they would disappear? The Nathan Jones of the 107 00:09:55,160 --> 00:10:03,720 world, I didn't write, yeah, road warrior Hawk drunk on the Titan Drawn era. Yeah, you're, you're 108 00:10:03,720 --> 00:10:08,920 like all over that some attitude error, that's some early 2000 stuff. Well, when did Heiden 109 00:10:08,920 --> 00:10:14,120 Reich take, oh, no, that's right. Hi, it was, I'm sorry, I'm confusing draws. You think 110 00:10:14,120 --> 00:10:20,040 it draws Heiden Reich came to LOD after Hawk passed away. Yeah, it was all of that, it was that 111 00:10:20,040 --> 00:10:28,280 era of Heiden Reich, Nathan Jones, Tyler Rex. See, see, this is what happened when you get old. Like, 112 00:10:28,280 --> 00:10:33,480 Nathan Jones was like WrestleMania 19 because remember he was supposed to tag with Undertaker against 113 00:10:33,480 --> 00:10:39,640 Albert and Big Show. Yeah, okay, but I, but you maybe thinking like Vladimir Cosloff those times. 114 00:10:39,640 --> 00:10:48,600 Yeah, the Cosloff, the core. Yes. Yeah, Ezekiel Jackson, my guy. Yeah. So it's funny that you mentioned 115 00:10:48,600 --> 00:10:53,240 that time frame because like, because we were talking last week talking about the, so I was talking 116 00:10:53,240 --> 00:10:58,520 on the show, the importance of the John Cena Randy Orton stuff. And CNN Orton in that time frame 117 00:10:58,520 --> 00:11:03,000 of '08 to 2012, Russell, each other had a ton. And that is a time period of professional wrestling 118 00:11:03,000 --> 00:11:08,200 that I think I legitimately, like you said, I chose to block out because it just wasn't a time period 119 00:11:08,200 --> 00:11:15,000 that was very good. It was like CM Punk and Kofi Kinks and tagging legacy was kind of involved in 120 00:11:15,000 --> 00:11:21,320 there. Orton was very skinny. It was just not a good time period for WWE wrestling, WWE wrestling 121 00:11:21,320 --> 00:11:26,040 at that point. Yeah, like it was funny because I actually, I've been trying to catch up on some 122 00:11:26,040 --> 00:11:31,560 podcasts and like, I don't know if you'll feel like Chris Van Vee, but I like his interviews. And 123 00:11:31,560 --> 00:11:38,920 I'm just got done watching the Kevin Owens interview. And he had mentioned like that era of 124 00:11:38,920 --> 00:11:45,000 wrestling, like made him, that was one of a few times in his life that he kind of tuned out on wrestling 125 00:11:45,000 --> 00:11:51,400 because a lot of it was, Brinsey Pete, didn't we just do this like two, three weeks ago? And then he 126 00:11:51,400 --> 00:11:58,840 referenced like 2017, 2018 as kind of being the same way. And I was like, oh yeah, like some of those, 127 00:11:58,840 --> 00:12:03,800 there like early years of the show, when everybody was hurt in the, in the shows weren't good, 128 00:12:03,800 --> 00:12:09,960 where you and I were like, man, should we even continue 20, I think it was around 2016. You and I had 129 00:12:09,960 --> 00:12:15,560 a really hard to hard talk about should we continue the podcast because wrestling was so bad. 130 00:12:15,560 --> 00:12:23,480 And then now we're at another point where like, damn, we may want to retire, but the product is so good, 131 00:12:23,480 --> 00:12:29,640 it's hard to put it down. And if we don't have this thing to talk about, it would just be me calling 132 00:12:29,640 --> 00:12:34,520 Jeff for like an hour on a Thursday going, all right, man, I know we're not recording, but dear God, 133 00:12:34,520 --> 00:12:38,680 did you see this? Did you see this? What do you think of this? Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, it's, 134 00:12:38,680 --> 00:12:45,400 there's definitely been time periods where you just like kind of forget and time periods where there's 135 00:12:45,400 --> 00:12:50,680 like this massive boom period. And it's, oh, it's the older you get as a wrestling fan. It's funny how 136 00:12:50,680 --> 00:12:56,120 you could like look at these errors that are really good. Like I think we just, I feel like we came out 137 00:12:56,120 --> 00:13:01,800 of a really good error that we'll look look back at. I think presently what we're in right now is kind 138 00:13:01,800 --> 00:13:08,200 of like a retooling because there's some creativity issues I think going on with WWE specifically where 139 00:13:08,200 --> 00:13:15,080 they're not as smooth and together like they've been over the last three to five years, certain points. 140 00:13:15,080 --> 00:13:21,320 But I feel like you could see like if they start just tightening things up a little bit that they've 141 00:13:21,320 --> 00:13:26,440 got the talent on the roster where they can easily get back right back into it. And I kind of look at it 142 00:13:26,440 --> 00:13:33,800 from like 97 to 01. It was such a good year for professional wrestling. Some people may even throw 96 143 00:13:33,800 --> 00:13:40,440 in there for WWE perspective. WWE, WWE too at that period of time even though they started go downhill 144 00:13:40,440 --> 00:13:48,920 in towards 2001. And then you look at like 2002, 2003 WWE. And it wasn't that good. It was still 145 00:13:48,920 --> 00:13:55,000 watchable but it wasn't that good. And then they went into a pretty decent error from like 0 4 to 0 7 146 00:13:55,000 --> 00:14:00,520 before dropping off again for a period of time and then things picked up 10 plus years later. 147 00:14:00,520 --> 00:14:06,360 So I don't know if that's the path that we're going on here but I guess the best way to look at 148 00:14:06,360 --> 00:14:13,320 this doctorate is by looking at backlash and recapping review in it and seeing if WWE is still far 149 00:14:13,320 --> 00:14:19,080 in all cylinders or maybe what I'm saying right now of. Hey I think I think that they're not as smooth as 150 00:14:19,080 --> 00:14:23,160 they've been. They've got the great in-wing workers. They've got the characters and we could see 151 00:14:23,160 --> 00:14:27,160 them getting back there and it could be there sooner rather than later or I may be completely wrong 152 00:14:27,160 --> 00:14:31,640 that's going no this this train is still going on and it's a really good time for professional wrestling. 153 00:14:31,640 --> 00:14:36,360 So let's get into it WWE backlash, recapping review this past Saturday from the Enterprise Center 154 00:14:36,360 --> 00:14:40,520 in St. Louis Missouri. The first match here was Jacob Batu defeating LA Night Damien Priests in 155 00:14:40,520 --> 00:14:45,960 Drew McAhtar in a fatal four-way match to retain the WWE United States Championship. We both had 156 00:14:45,960 --> 00:14:52,280 Jacob Batu in this one. This was a really well-booked fatal four-way match. It was fun as hell and Jacob 157 00:14:52,280 --> 00:14:57,640 Batu's start is really really rising. Jeff Cobb's debut was a nice surprise it was starting to feel 158 00:14:57,640 --> 00:15:02,280 like this was the direction they would go with him as the news reports of his eminent debut were coming 159 00:15:02,280 --> 00:15:08,280 and then Solo saying he needed more soldiers the night before on SmackDown, the dynamic between Solo, 160 00:15:08,280 --> 00:15:13,000 the group in Jacob will make for a fun slow burning storyline that should catapult Batu and super 161 00:15:13,000 --> 00:15:18,920 start him heading into 2026. Dr. Tre, I love this match. This is a great fatal four-way your thoughts on 162 00:15:18,920 --> 00:15:24,680 this one. Yeah I really love the dynamic in this match because you see guys team up for a little 163 00:15:24,680 --> 00:15:29,400 bit and then it meet like you see Damien Priests and LA Night work together then of course, you know, 164 00:15:29,400 --> 00:15:33,240 sucker punch thrown and then something else like that happened. I thought it was really well put 165 00:15:33,240 --> 00:15:38,520 together. It also continues the Drew Damien feud as we get closer. We're going to have a hell of a 166 00:15:38,520 --> 00:15:44,280 sell match at some point. I kind of figured these guys because you don't do the south of heaven through 167 00:15:44,280 --> 00:15:49,960 a table unless you're leading to something even bigger than what they've done. The LA Night stuff 168 00:15:49,960 --> 00:15:54,760 it would Jacob and then Solo and Jeff Cobb. I mean, Solo's not wrong. He needs more sort of, I mean, 169 00:15:54,760 --> 00:16:00,200 what Tom and Tonga, Tonga Lo, they're both out injured. They're really as nobody else. I mean, we got 170 00:16:00,200 --> 00:16:06,200 Hickaleo on the roster somewhere, Lance Annoi, he's on the roster somewhere but bringing it a heavy 171 00:16:06,200 --> 00:16:14,120 like Jeff Cobb is fantastic. Bronson Reed should be back before too long as well and I was literally 172 00:16:14,120 --> 00:16:18,280 talking about my friend on their day. It's like, man, if they paired Jeff Cobb and Bronson Reed together, 173 00:16:18,280 --> 00:16:24,200 like that's going to be fun as well but yeah, great storytelling, great finish, Jacob's facials or 174 00:16:24,200 --> 00:16:31,480 some of the best in wrestling as well. Solo's still sorely underrated but yeah, just a really, 175 00:16:31,480 --> 00:16:36,600 really fun way to kick off the pay-per-view. It really feels like that the fans are ready to 176 00:16:36,600 --> 00:16:40,520 explode to embrace him as a full-fledged baby face when it comes to Jacob thought too, Dr. Try. 177 00:16:40,520 --> 00:16:46,680 He's an anomaly and we've always talked about this. When you have an anomaly come on the scene, 178 00:16:46,680 --> 00:16:53,480 it's really, really hard for the fans to dislike somebody who's not like anything else they've 179 00:16:53,480 --> 00:17:00,200 ever seen. Yeah, it's something there. I mean, it's very cool looking at his popularity and where he 180 00:17:00,200 --> 00:17:06,040 could be headed in 2026. The next match here is Lyra Valcurator feeding Becky Lynch to retain the WWE 181 00:17:06,040 --> 00:17:10,520 Women's Intercontinental Championship. We both had Becky Lynch in this one. This was a great match 182 00:17:10,520 --> 00:17:14,760 and a breakout performance for Lyra Valcurator on the main roster. Good back and forth throughout. 183 00:17:14,760 --> 00:17:18,520 These are the type of matches I want to see for the Women's Intercontinental Championship division 184 00:17:18,520 --> 00:17:27,640 moving forward. I love this match too, Dr. Try. At this point, WWE is two for two. This was a great 185 00:17:27,640 --> 00:17:32,840 showcase for Lyra Valcurator and I'm glad that Becky got it out of her showing that she belongs 186 00:17:32,840 --> 00:17:38,360 your thoughts on this Women's Intercontinental Championship match. Yeah, I love the match. This was 187 00:17:38,360 --> 00:17:45,720 really the first time that to me, Lyra really got over with the crowd. They were really invested in 188 00:17:45,720 --> 00:17:51,880 this and we saw, I mean, she kicked out of three manhandled slams in that match, which is unheard of 189 00:17:51,880 --> 00:17:57,400 and got out of this armor. I will say, the only thing I disliked about this was showing her fiance 190 00:17:57,400 --> 00:18:06,200 on camera. For one, I didn't know she was engaged to Weirdel Yankovic, but also, we've seen that 191 00:18:06,200 --> 00:18:14,120 so many times now, we don't need that. But other than that, the match was fantastic and I was like, 192 00:18:14,120 --> 00:18:18,600 this is one of the better women's matches. I mean, the WrestleMania triple threat with EO, 193 00:18:18,600 --> 00:18:22,520 Grilla, and Bianca was really good, but for a single one on one match, this is one of the better 194 00:18:22,520 --> 00:18:27,400 one on one match, so we've had quite a while in WWE. I would agree. I felt the same way. I 195 00:18:27,400 --> 00:18:31,880 thought this was one of the best women's matches I've seen in WWE in 2025. 196 00:18:31,880 --> 00:18:40,520 Yeah, no, absolutely. But once again, I still, I can't get that guy's face out of my head. It's 197 00:18:40,520 --> 00:18:45,320 been stuck in my head since backlash, like the fiancee. I'm like, man. 198 00:18:45,320 --> 00:18:48,280 I would just DM him. DM him, don't you try? 199 00:18:48,280 --> 00:18:52,920 I'm just saying that just for all those guys out there that the women's wrestlers complain about 200 00:18:52,920 --> 00:18:58,840 about being at the airport and getting pictures autographs. If you look at that guy, any one of us 201 00:18:58,840 --> 00:19:03,640 has a shot at a WWE female wrestler. Hey, words to live by, get a tattooed on the collarbone, 202 00:19:03,640 --> 00:19:08,120 my friends. Next match here is Dominic Washera, defeated Pantsett to retain the WWE 203 00:19:08,120 --> 00:19:11,880 Intercontinental Championship. You know, I both had Dominic this one. The match felt really quick, 204 00:19:11,880 --> 00:19:15,800 which was disappointing, disappointing from that sense. They played all the things they needed to do, 205 00:19:15,800 --> 00:19:20,120 like the botched judgment day interference, which plays up if Finn wanted them to get caught in 206 00:19:20,120 --> 00:19:25,000 the first place. Only helped distract the ref for the interference from Elbron de Mexicano. 207 00:19:25,000 --> 00:19:29,320 I understand the tension in the judgment day from Finn to Dominic, but I really don't want to see 208 00:19:29,320 --> 00:19:34,680 another backstabbing angle within the judgment day take place again, at least for a little while. 209 00:19:34,680 --> 00:19:39,400 So hopefully, don't WWE holds off on it, but I highly doubt that is the case based on things 210 00:19:39,400 --> 00:19:44,040 like this match, the backstage fitting, yet that have been taken place, and then Finn's seen in 211 00:19:44,040 --> 00:19:50,840 the background talking with Roxanne Perez the last two weeks. It just felt rushed on this one, 212 00:19:50,840 --> 00:19:56,120 Dr. Tray, as Dominic Washera retains over Penta. Yeah, it felt a little bit like they were playing 213 00:19:56,120 --> 00:20:00,520 the greatest hits. You know, like, okay, we got to get this moving, we got to get this in, we got to 214 00:20:00,520 --> 00:20:07,960 get this in, we got to get this in. My other frustration was now by the end, it's like, all right, 215 00:20:07,960 --> 00:20:12,520 we've had, we already had to kind of a screw job finish in the first match with Jeff Cobb getting 216 00:20:12,520 --> 00:20:17,400 involved. We're getting another screw job finished now with Elbron de Americano getting involved. 217 00:20:17,400 --> 00:20:23,560 That's why to me, this was kind of like the filler match, like I really, like, it felt like a really 218 00:20:23,560 --> 00:20:28,600 good Monday night Raw match is how I got to felt about this one. Yeah, yeah, and I think that's a 219 00:20:28,600 --> 00:20:35,560 really good way to put it, it felt like a TV match on a PLA. So yeah, sometimes you wish that they 220 00:20:35,560 --> 00:20:41,000 took some of those TV matches and put them on PLAs, like, I don't know, that TLC match we saw from 221 00:20:41,000 --> 00:20:46,440 a couple weeks ago in Smackdown. Gunther defeats Pat McAfee, you and I both had Gunther in this one. 222 00:20:46,440 --> 00:20:50,040 It was an entertaining match. You could tell Gunther was letting up a lot more than we were used to 223 00:20:50,040 --> 00:20:54,040 seeing against McAfee in this one. They did have the crowd in the palm of their hands throughout, 224 00:20:54,040 --> 00:20:59,560 so the fans were mostly invested. McAfee is athletic, but this is not one of those, not one of his 225 00:20:59,560 --> 00:21:04,360 better in-ring performances like we've seen in the past from him. The other thing that I'll add 226 00:21:04,360 --> 00:21:11,000 here, Dr. Trey is, and I'm a fan of Pat McAfee, but it felt like WWE really tried to conjure up 227 00:21:11,000 --> 00:21:18,360 the feels and the fan reaction of like giving him that respectful standing ovation. It felt very 228 00:21:18,360 --> 00:21:25,160 forced, post-match. It felt very forced on Raw the next night, even though I guess you can make a case 229 00:21:25,160 --> 00:21:30,760 that was like an organic standing ovation from the crowd. I just didn't feel like that performance 230 00:21:30,760 --> 00:21:36,680 from Pat necessarily warranted that type of reaction because his other performances have been so much 231 00:21:36,680 --> 00:21:42,040 better. So I was surprised with that, and then it's like, what was the point of this entire thing? 232 00:21:42,040 --> 00:21:48,280 Was it just to give Pat that moment so that he has like respect from the fans? I was thinking 233 00:21:48,280 --> 00:21:53,560 on last week's podcast that maybe this leads to the Bill Goldberg return one that's being rumored. 234 00:21:53,560 --> 00:21:58,920 I think that's definitely more aligned with the June 6 or 7 match against the World of the Way. 235 00:21:58,920 --> 00:22:02,600 Champagne that Guthrur has in Phoenix, Arizona, which also happens to be where 236 00:22:02,600 --> 00:22:11,960 Bill Goldberg lives. So I don't know, I don't know, Dr. Trey. I just was very surprised 237 00:22:11,960 --> 00:22:16,360 that the fans were like really, really behind him on this one. What were your thoughts on 238 00:22:16,360 --> 00:22:22,520 and take away, so you're as Gunther defeats Pat McAfee? So watching it as a wrestling fan, you get one 239 00:22:22,520 --> 00:22:27,000 view and then watching it as something who likes and appreciates Pat McAfee, you almost have a separate 240 00:22:27,000 --> 00:22:33,000 view. Like to me, the match was put together the way it needed to be because Gunther's bigger, 241 00:22:33,000 --> 00:22:40,760 stronger, faster, younger, more athletic in a lot of ways than what Pat is now. I think he's probably 242 00:22:40,760 --> 00:22:48,920 at the early 40s. It's just one of the things where it's like, yeah, it shouldn't have been a competitive 243 00:22:48,920 --> 00:22:54,120 match. And the reason we've loved some of Pat's matches earlier was he was wrestling guys more 244 00:22:54,120 --> 00:23:00,920 his size. This is a bigger, stronger guy. I did get caught up in it though a little bit like when the 245 00:23:00,920 --> 00:23:05,160 Michael Colg gets involved with it. I was like, all right, look at, look at little Michael Colg getting 246 00:23:05,160 --> 00:23:10,280 involved in the signal for his boy. So I liked it on that end. It did get me caught up in that end. 247 00:23:10,280 --> 00:23:18,280 But overall, the match itself was fine. It was booked the way it was supposed to be. I just didn't like 248 00:23:18,280 --> 00:23:25,320 the rest. You know, he I hate the mutual respect angles at the end. I hate those. If you're the bad guy, 249 00:23:25,320 --> 00:23:30,760 be a bad guy. If you're a good guy, be a good guy. And like I get it, they're trying to show that, 250 00:23:30,760 --> 00:23:38,360 you know, he earned the respect of Gunther, but at the same time, like that guy should be a killer. 251 00:23:38,360 --> 00:23:45,000 He should be like the whole purpose of Gunther's ring general, the ring is sacred. It's so guys like Pat 252 00:23:45,000 --> 00:23:50,920 don't jump into it. That's I just I didn't like the mutual admiration thing at the end. I get why 253 00:23:50,920 --> 00:23:56,280 the fans love Pat McAfee. He's a fun guy, dude. I love I like watching his shows. I like watching him on 254 00:23:56,280 --> 00:24:02,120 the other stuff. I thought this is going to be Pat's write off to get ready for college football season 255 00:24:02,120 --> 00:24:07,000 because he'll be on game day again. So and then it didn't happen. So it's going to be interesting 256 00:24:07,000 --> 00:24:13,400 how they play this out going forward because to me, Gunther should be your evil monster villain 257 00:24:13,400 --> 00:24:18,920 that people are terrified of being the ring with. And there were parts in that match. Like I can think 258 00:24:18,920 --> 00:24:23,800 of it specifically like when he towards in the match when he started doing the the the elbows strikes 259 00:24:23,800 --> 00:24:31,080 to McAfee's neck and shoulder, those were super light. And it was like, yeah, like that was just 260 00:24:31,080 --> 00:24:36,680 noticeably. I'm like, stuff like that. Like it's fun. And the crowd gets into it. But for like guys, 261 00:24:36,680 --> 00:24:41,880 like us, it's like Mac, I could have gone to the bathroom and I could have gone and grabbed, you 262 00:24:41,880 --> 00:24:47,560 know, a bite to eat and kind of skipped over. It was entertaining, but it didn't need to be on a PLE. 263 00:24:47,560 --> 00:24:56,680 Yeah, no, I totally agree with you. It's it yeah, it just was kind of missing. And yeah, I would 264 00:24:56,680 --> 00:25:00,920 prefer that he went all in on the chops rather than not go all in on the chops against Pat. 265 00:25:00,920 --> 00:25:05,960 And then finally, Dr. Trey, the main event here was John Cena defeating Randy Orton or 266 00:25:05,960 --> 00:25:13,160 retaining the anticipated WWE championship in 2025. We both had John Cena in this one. What a fun 267 00:25:13,160 --> 00:25:19,240 just live in the moment because we will probably never see these two rivals wrestle again moment. 268 00:25:19,240 --> 00:25:24,120 And it's 2025, which is just insane that this is happening. It's John Cena versus Reign, 269 00:25:24,120 --> 00:25:28,040 or in the main event with the WWE Championship on the line. And they had the crowd in the palm of 270 00:25:28,040 --> 00:25:33,640 their hands. This is a very entertaining match in these legends delivered. This is just one of 271 00:25:33,640 --> 00:25:38,040 those rare moments. Dr. Trey, where I just kind of like sat back, relaxed, and I was like, I'm just 272 00:25:38,040 --> 00:25:44,360 going to take this all in because we will probably never see this again. I'm good. I love this match. 273 00:25:44,360 --> 00:25:51,000 And a lot of it is because I have it's old school Cena in the sense of the way he was wrestling 274 00:25:51,000 --> 00:25:56,440 in old school, Orton. Like we saw the side headlock take down. You know, you can see them going, 275 00:25:56,440 --> 00:26:01,000 you know, we're going to take this back a little bit to what we used to do. Then you got a table, 276 00:26:01,000 --> 00:26:05,160 spot, you got the table, by the way, can we just get rid of the new announced table? That thing is 277 00:26:05,160 --> 00:26:10,840 horrible. And it has done nothing but hurt people and not do as supposed to do. Can we go back to the 278 00:26:10,840 --> 00:26:15,960 old announced tables or something like this? Just it takes away from stuff. And they had a 279 00:26:15,960 --> 00:26:20,760 noticeable audible in the middle of the match because the broadcast table malfunctions. 280 00:26:20,760 --> 00:26:29,160 But outside of that, like it was just fun. It was entertaining. It was, I mean, we got two ref bombs, 281 00:26:29,640 --> 00:26:35,960 you know, title belt shot. It's a lot of old school wrestling. And I always go back to John Cena saying 282 00:26:35,960 --> 00:26:41,560 early in the run that he is going to ruin pro wrestling for people. And what he's doing is he's just 283 00:26:41,560 --> 00:26:48,360 taking it back to what made wrestling great for guys like us, which are those like narcissistic 284 00:26:48,360 --> 00:26:55,160 heels that will cower down when they need to slow slower matches in the beginning. That leads to 285 00:26:55,160 --> 00:27:00,680 a fun finish. And if that's ruining wrestling, I'm ear for because that's the wrestling I love. 286 00:27:00,680 --> 00:27:07,800 Yeah, you know, that was just one of those things where for me, Dr. Tre, and I was talking about it 287 00:27:07,800 --> 00:27:14,360 on last week's pod where I really didn't want to go into this match like highly scrutinizing it or 288 00:27:14,360 --> 00:27:20,040 looking at it and it picking. I just kind of wanted to live in the moment because I think you could 289 00:27:20,040 --> 00:27:26,600 make a case that this was, this is one of WWE's greatest rivalries of all time. Like when have we 290 00:27:26,600 --> 00:27:34,200 ever seen a wrestling rivalry span 20 years like this? And that's just how I felt about this entire 291 00:27:34,200 --> 00:27:41,080 match where to me it was just, you know, I do I love the in ring style of the Kenny Omega's Will Ospreys, 292 00:27:41,080 --> 00:27:47,720 AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, CM Punk's Drew McIntyre's The World absolutely, but I love shit like this as 293 00:27:47,720 --> 00:27:55,880 well. Yeah, I mean, it's what you want in wrestling. You want physicality. You want some great action 294 00:27:55,880 --> 00:28:00,600 spots. You want a store. You want, you know, good characters. By the way, I don't know if you thought 295 00:28:00,600 --> 00:28:05,320 about this 25 years that they've been feeling this is the first time Randy Orton looked bigger than 296 00:28:05,320 --> 00:28:11,320 John Cena. Like Orton looked mad. I remember some of them early matches where Cena was all jacked up and 297 00:28:11,320 --> 00:28:17,640 Orton was that slender, lanky look to them. I'm like, not only they switch roles in baby, face and heel, 298 00:28:17,640 --> 00:28:24,840 they switched body types in this match as well. But yeah, I mean, it's just it's everything you want, 299 00:28:24,840 --> 00:28:31,160 your pro wrestling to really be without the crazy high spots, but you still got a table spot in there 300 00:28:31,160 --> 00:28:35,400 which is kind of like, I feel like that's what they went into going, all right, we need one thing for 301 00:28:36,680 --> 00:28:41,880 the spot monkey fans for like a better term. Hey, it looks to a table spot. All right, great. You know, 302 00:28:41,880 --> 00:28:48,680 but everything else tied into what these characters do and go from there. Like I love the puns attempt 303 00:28:48,680 --> 00:28:54,200 by John Cena, that ruthless side that he has now. Like it was just a really what a, and all you 304 00:28:54,200 --> 00:28:59,480 know, it's in my top 10 for matches of the year. Like it was just that entertaining and that solid 305 00:28:59,480 --> 00:29:05,080 of a performance by these guys. Yeah, it was it was a fun one and I just think everybody should, 306 00:29:05,080 --> 00:29:09,240 I hope everybody had an opportunity to just kind of sit back and relax and enjoy it like we did, 307 00:29:09,240 --> 00:29:13,960 because it was great. It really was like one of those things where it's like these are veterans 308 00:29:13,960 --> 00:29:19,320 in professional wrestling. They know how to work it and they were two of the best of best 309 00:29:19,320 --> 00:29:23,880 rivalries we've ever seen before we get into kind of recapitivated fully here, pay-per-view prediction 310 00:29:23,880 --> 00:29:28,680 record match of the match of the nine event rating. Dr. Trey, I made a case for this is one of, 311 00:29:28,680 --> 00:29:33,560 if not the greatest WWE rivalry of all time, where would you stand on the John Cena Randy Orton stuff? 312 00:29:34,520 --> 00:29:41,320 So it's weird because the longevity kind of jumps in ahead of a lot of stuff. Like obviously rock 313 00:29:41,320 --> 00:29:51,640 Austin's up there. You know Sean Brett, some of the like a Hogan savage to a degree. I'd probably 314 00:29:51,640 --> 00:29:58,040 put it right behind Austin and rock that I mean it may not have happened. Austin Rock is what number one 315 00:29:58,040 --> 00:30:04,040 to you? I would have Austin Rock or maybe I did that Austin McMahon. Where how did you, did you break 316 00:30:04,040 --> 00:30:10,200 it into Austin McMahon and Austin Rock? I didn't break it up. I actually think I went rock Austin. I did 317 00:30:10,200 --> 00:30:16,920 not consider Austin McMahon in that vein because it's just like more I was more looking at the in-ring 318 00:30:16,920 --> 00:30:23,880 style of things. Yeah, so I'd have Austin Rock number one just because of that era of the attitude 319 00:30:23,880 --> 00:30:31,560 era and how hot it was. Cena Orton has spanned the test of time through good errors of wrestling and bad 320 00:30:32,760 --> 00:30:39,080 and maybe never had the great promo battles that Austin and Rock did but for longevity some of 321 00:30:39,080 --> 00:30:45,000 the great storytelling some of these matches they did. Like it's probably number two. It's ahead of 322 00:30:45,000 --> 00:30:51,560 Brett and Sean which I didn't think I'd ever say. Yeah, I agree with you. I you know I really didn't 323 00:30:51,560 --> 00:30:56,280 put foot to ground on where the rivalry was. I probably would agree with you. I would still think 324 00:30:56,280 --> 00:31:02,520 rock Austin one or in Cena two and then I think Brett Sean three but a lot of the Brett 325 00:31:02,520 --> 00:31:07,080 Sean stuff I think is a lot of the allure that went on behind the scenes of the Montreal screw job 326 00:31:07,080 --> 00:31:15,320 post when they were wrestling. Like like I was excited for Orton and seen in this past Saturday but if 327 00:31:15,320 --> 00:31:19,880 you told me hey it's summer slam rock and Austin got back in the ring like there's a report right 328 00:31:19,880 --> 00:31:25,960 now from WrestleVotes I would like absolutely lose my mind. So I think that's how you kind of look 329 00:31:25,960 --> 00:31:31,080 at it. It's like Cena Orton is you respect it and then you kind of go holy shit I think they may have 330 00:31:31,080 --> 00:31:35,720 been one of the greatest fraud of all time. I mean the only other feud I've ever thought that had 331 00:31:35,720 --> 00:31:41,240 that longevity was maybe dusty in flayer. You know because I mean that start off in the late 70s 332 00:31:41,240 --> 00:31:47,160 and last it all the way through the late 90s when or actually in the into about early 2000 when WC 333 00:31:47,160 --> 00:31:51,960 even though Dusty may not have been active in ring he was still like in those like commissioner 334 00:31:51,960 --> 00:31:57,960 roles or helping out you know Dustin or whatever against the the horseman like that rivalry really 335 00:31:57,960 --> 00:32:04,920 did span you know probably 25 years but that was them in their prime entering their retirement 336 00:32:04,920 --> 00:32:12,120 era whereas Cena and Orton start off when they were green for lack of better's earned and then 337 00:32:12,120 --> 00:32:16,760 lasted their entire course because like they said on the show Orton could probably go another five 338 00:32:16,760 --> 00:32:23,480 years. Yeah yeah and in reality Cena if he wanted to could go another five years as well. Yeah 339 00:32:23,480 --> 00:32:28,920 no he could as well funny I mean Michael Cole mentioned it as they were building up towards 340 00:32:28,920 --> 00:32:32,440 match I think maybe the bell had wrong but he's like the first time he's two guys wrestlers like 341 00:32:32,440 --> 00:32:39,560 August 9th 2001 at the Bryan Pillian Pillian Memorial Show and I never I never knew that I remember 342 00:32:39,560 --> 00:32:45,480 being a kid reading online the Bryan Pillian Memorial Show because it blew my mind because it had 343 00:32:46,360 --> 00:32:55,400 WWE WCW ECW stars I think people from OVW maybe NWA as well all involved and I was like the only show 344 00:32:55,400 --> 00:32:59,080 that all the wrestling companies in the world come together and be like all right let's just do 345 00:32:59,080 --> 00:33:05,560 this for the right reasons and I looked back as as Cole said that I like pause I was I was watching 346 00:33:05,560 --> 00:33:10,920 backlash on demand and I was like let me look this up and there you see it's like a 16 match card 347 00:33:10,920 --> 00:33:15,880 and like in the middle of it it was Randy Orton defeats the prototype and I was like there were 348 00:33:15,880 --> 00:33:21,960 people there that day that had no idea that 24 years from now this would be one of the greatest 349 00:33:21,960 --> 00:33:27,240 wrestling rivalries of all time and here is in the middle of the show a very special show and like 350 00:33:27,240 --> 00:33:33,560 that was just very very cool so had tip to both men on an amazing rivalry I'm sure we'll have an 351 00:33:33,560 --> 00:33:38,120 opportunity to talk about that at greater length here as as the year goes on and we look back at the 352 00:33:38,120 --> 00:33:44,120 career of John Cena. Paperview prediction record from backlash we both went four and one I came out 353 00:33:44,120 --> 00:33:53,960 of it 28 and 9 dr. Trey 27 and 10 match of the night and event rating I gave my event rating a 4.1 out of 354 00:33:53,960 --> 00:33:59,000 five and my match the night dr. Trey at that there were three really really good matches the fatal 355 00:33:59,000 --> 00:34:04,280 four-way Lyra and Becky and then Cena and Orton at the end of the day I love that fatal four-way 356 00:34:04,280 --> 00:34:08,840 match so I went with Fat 2 LA night Damien Priest and Drew McIntyre what's a you event rating 357 00:34:08,840 --> 00:34:14,520 and match of the night and I'm gone one week and we're back on agreeing on stuff so like I literally had 358 00:34:14,520 --> 00:34:20,280 it as we were like I was doing the math in my head I was like yeah about a 4.1 and then you say 4.1 359 00:34:20,280 --> 00:34:27,240 so I was at a 4.1 also my match tonight and it's going to be because I'm all and I'm nostalgic 360 00:34:27,240 --> 00:34:33,480 and these guys have literally been the top two wrestlers of you know my adulthood it was seen 361 00:34:33,480 --> 00:34:39,160 in Orton like that was just a fun match and then also nobody wins a world title in their hometown 362 00:34:39,160 --> 00:34:45,560 or home country for that's her nobody does it so you make Orton lose in St. Louis yeah that's 363 00:34:45,560 --> 00:34:51,000 some heel stuff right there by WWE so Orton and Cena where was my match tonight but the other two matches 364 00:34:51,000 --> 00:34:56,440 were right there with it I just leaned a little more to my nostalgia let's get to some quick hits 365 00:34:56,440 --> 00:35:01,480 here looking at the John Cena Rainy Orton's up now coming out of this match the first is our 366 00:35:01,480 --> 00:35:09,400 Truths that are fair to the match and laid out truth later in the night at the post show put 367 00:35:09,400 --> 00:35:15,560 truth through a table which by the way folks if you go back and you watch that clip our truth actually 368 00:35:15,560 --> 00:35:21,320 makes John Cena break character did you notice did you watch that clip at all doctor I watched it 369 00:35:21,320 --> 00:35:26,760 a couple times because I was like is this you know it's always like waiting for that moment and that 370 00:35:26,760 --> 00:35:31,720 what the thing that caught me is when he called them Ron and I think he did that because truth made him 371 00:35:31,720 --> 00:35:39,240 break yeah I when he said you never gave up and you see Cena laugh yeah it was always like it was 372 00:35:39,240 --> 00:35:43,080 and at least he did the right thing and kind of turned his head and shook his head a little bit 373 00:35:43,080 --> 00:35:48,520 and then before he went it but it was kind of like the you could play it off as the you dumb son of 374 00:35:48,520 --> 00:35:54,120 a gun I literally you know don't say you know but yeah it was you can't have our truth around and 375 00:35:54,120 --> 00:35:59,240 not break character like he's he's a national treasure for professional wrestling let me see if 376 00:35:59,240 --> 00:36:02,360 this comes off well here on the podcast hold on let's see 377 00:36:02,360 --> 00:36:22,200 like right there he got me break character because you can hear you can audibly hear it in the 378 00:36:22,200 --> 00:36:27,960 microphone that really little laugh sniffle thing when you're trying not to laugh and you almost snort 379 00:36:27,960 --> 00:36:33,880 yes like he almost made he almost made Cena snort into a live microphone that's one of my favorite 380 00:36:33,880 --> 00:36:39,160 things in wrestling is like when stuff like that goes hey why it's like the the J.U. So with a blood 381 00:36:39,160 --> 00:36:43,080 line with Sammy Zayn making a break character and like all hell breaking loose and it just makes for 382 00:36:43,080 --> 00:36:47,960 a really fun segment so everybody's buddy still plays along and they still remain in the universe 383 00:36:47,960 --> 00:36:53,240 of what they're seeing there but I do love when that stuff plays place so there's rumblings and I 384 00:36:53,240 --> 00:36:56,840 I don't believe this is official but John there's rumblings at john Cena will to be taken on 385 00:36:56,840 --> 00:37:02,200 rent our truth at Saturday night's main event a couple weeks in Tampa I suspect this show will 386 00:37:02,200 --> 00:37:07,240 probably be available for download on Friday I suspect that'll be announced on Friday Smackdown 387 00:37:07,240 --> 00:37:14,040 are my thoughts um what that said if that's the direction they go doctor try do you think who do 388 00:37:14,040 --> 00:37:20,760 you think should be next to face john Cena after our truth uh that's a good question because what we're 389 00:37:20,760 --> 00:37:26,360 in June we'll be coming into June we're in May right now so we're heading into June can I add a little 390 00:37:26,360 --> 00:37:30,520 over to this layer go ahead give me give me a little bit because I'm trying to think I'll talk about it 391 00:37:30,520 --> 00:37:36,360 the rumblings right now are our truth Cena Saturday night's main event two weeks one more day weekend 392 00:37:36,360 --> 00:37:41,240 there are rumblings money the bank LA that Cena is going to be tagging with your boy Travis Scott in 393 00:37:41,240 --> 00:37:47,480 the tag team match that to me screams that's Cody road's is on his way back so we could be looking 394 00:37:47,480 --> 00:37:51,400 here at a tag team match we could talk about the tag team match or we could talk about the next singles 395 00:37:51,400 --> 00:37:57,800 match I think the next singles match for Cena should be CM Punk but I don't know how we get there 396 00:37:57,800 --> 00:38:04,200 right now based on how punk's trajectory is when did when did punk walk out what what payperview 397 00:38:04,200 --> 00:38:07,560 was that when he took the bell money in the bank that's what everybody's that's what everybody was 398 00:38:07,560 --> 00:38:12,200 hoping money the banks are caught yeah yeah and then that's kind of what I'm like I think if you're 399 00:38:12,200 --> 00:38:17,160 if you're going to a tag match with Cena unless you're planning on seeing a dropping the belt at 400 00:38:17,160 --> 00:38:23,640 summer slam uh you do the tag match you know as summer slam because it is a bigger event in two nights 401 00:38:23,640 --> 00:38:30,520 and dear god who's Cody gonna get jelly roll the beast partner everybody wants bad bunny naturally um 402 00:38:30,520 --> 00:38:37,320 that doesn't have natural chemistry Cody and bad but that's that doesn't have there's no tie-in 403 00:38:37,320 --> 00:38:45,160 to that like jelly roll was just there you know like he was at wrestle main if you're crying out loud 404 00:38:45,160 --> 00:38:50,760 you could and they're both southern like you could understand their promos if they were like 405 00:38:50,760 --> 00:38:57,400 Cody talking to bad bunny is just kind of like I don't it's just it's just a weird conversation it's 406 00:38:57,400 --> 00:39:03,400 just like it's like watching Alexa talk to Siri like it's two different worlds um I want Cody and 407 00:39:03,400 --> 00:39:08,360 jelly roll against Johnson and Travis now these are those moments that I wish we had like a time 408 00:39:08,360 --> 00:39:14,200 machine like in 2013 and we're like hey we're allowed to like jump to 2025 and listen to the podcast 409 00:39:14,200 --> 00:39:19,720 and we do that and we just get to that clip where you're like I want Cody Rhodes to tag against 410 00:39:19,720 --> 00:39:24,360 John Cena and Travis Scott like I want his tag team to partner to be either jelly roller bad bunny 411 00:39:24,360 --> 00:39:29,400 I just want us to then then we come back to reality in 2013 and we're like holy shit Vince is still 412 00:39:29,400 --> 00:39:37,480 book in the show like what rest of his name is jelly roll and bad bunny that is true but but then again 413 00:39:37,480 --> 00:39:42,520 we'd often like Cody Rhodes is wearing knee pads or wearing long tides like Cody Rhodes is actually a 414 00:39:42,520 --> 00:39:49,320 main event person like that's a thing like that would be a little bit mind blown as well true it's 415 00:39:49,320 --> 00:39:54,200 funny I mean what what's the next one-on-one match I mean Cena's on the Smackdown brand I mean definitely 416 00:39:54,200 --> 00:39:58,760 consider some raw guys I would love to see again I don't know how this fits in the storylines 417 00:39:58,760 --> 00:40:04,280 with the way things are going give me Seth Rollins versus Cena one more time give me Roman Reigns 418 00:40:04,280 --> 00:40:10,040 versus Cena one more time but I think for me the next one that's that's unlike the wish list would be 419 00:40:10,040 --> 00:40:17,400 would be CM Punk I mean for me if it was me it would be Punk but you figure punks tied up this whole 420 00:40:17,400 --> 00:40:24,680 thing with Paul Heyman's satellite LA night if you're doing if you're doing a show in LA why not do 421 00:40:24,680 --> 00:40:31,800 LA night any something to do if we're moving more towards Jacob Fah 2 and solo you got Drew and 422 00:40:31,800 --> 00:40:37,960 Damien over here LA night needs something to do LA night and Johnson because I mean for everybody 423 00:40:37,960 --> 00:40:43,400 else that everybody else goes LA night is basically just kind of playing the stone cold rock 424 00:40:43,400 --> 00:40:48,040 John Cena hits hey put him in the ring of John Cena let him let him try get over that way 425 00:40:48,040 --> 00:40:53,160 and then talking about Randy Orton here Dr. Trey you know you and mention it they were saying on 426 00:40:53,160 --> 00:40:57,320 the show that they feel like or Orton would say in two that he has another five to 10 years left in 427 00:40:57,320 --> 00:41:02,200 them and all I could think of was like there was a period time I never thought John Cena would have 428 00:41:02,200 --> 00:41:09,400 another World title reign and up until the match with Cena on Saturday I didn't I don't feel like 429 00:41:09,400 --> 00:41:13,560 given the way that the state of WWE is right now that Randy Orton may ever have another World title 430 00:41:13,560 --> 00:41:20,200 run do you think Randy Orton has another World title run under under under his belt like could he 431 00:41:20,200 --> 00:41:25,960 get to 15 could he get to 16 could he get to 17 like what are the chances here in the next five to 432 00:41:25,960 --> 00:41:30,360 10 years Randy Orton gets another run with a World Championship and how many times do you think he 433 00:41:30,360 --> 00:41:38,760 gets a run at it I think Elyse gets one more at least I could easily see Triple H giving him one more 434 00:41:38,760 --> 00:41:45,800 just so he breaks the tie with Triple H like that's kind of the person that Hunter is that hey I love 435 00:41:45,800 --> 00:41:52,920 this kid so much I'm gonna let him get ahead of me I can see them giving him two just a tie flare 436 00:41:52,920 --> 00:41:59,160 and be one behind Cena because I think when you're looking at the the packing order of wrestling of 437 00:41:59,160 --> 00:42:06,600 the L of the 2000s it's seen at one Orton's probably number two so like I can see them going that 438 00:42:06,600 --> 00:42:12,680 route me Roman depending on much longer he goes could easily jump into that conversation but 439 00:42:12,680 --> 00:42:19,240 the last 25 years to me it's seen a one Orton two so I can see them at least can he him to 440 00:42:19,240 --> 00:42:26,920 break the tie with Triple H and potentially tie Rick flare with this with 16 who would you more 441 00:42:26,920 --> 00:42:33,240 likely want to see break the 17 time World Championship record because there's only really two 442 00:42:33,240 --> 00:42:37,480 people that are close to it one being Randy Orton the second one being Charlotte Flair who would 443 00:42:37,480 --> 00:42:45,080 you prefer to see break the record if those are my two options like that's a pretty easy I think 444 00:42:45,080 --> 00:42:51,800 we all love Randy Orton and look I respect Charlotte Flair I remember Jeff Peg telling me how gorgeous 445 00:42:51,800 --> 00:42:57,960 Charlotte Flair was when she first debuted at NXT and what a massive little man or let massive 446 00:42:57,960 --> 00:43:05,160 little crushy add on her but I don't know like at least with the Randy character we know Randy 447 00:43:05,160 --> 00:43:09,800 or both sides of the fence like he's one of the most well-rounded wrestlers we've ever seen 448 00:43:09,800 --> 00:43:15,400 I don't think we can say that about Charlotte Charlotte is a lot like her dad she only works 449 00:43:15,400 --> 00:43:22,120 really well when she's the despise heal so I'm gonna take Randy you know all day every day and twice 450 00:43:22,120 --> 00:43:30,040 on Sunday those are my two options and then Dr. Trey keeping up here with WWE stuff the brawn, 451 00:43:30,040 --> 00:43:36,680 Seth Paul Heyman trio the dangerous alliance I want them to be called the vision because I think he 452 00:43:36,680 --> 00:43:41,160 was like relying on those that line over and over again I thought the vision would be a good name 453 00:43:41,160 --> 00:43:46,680 for these three they're obviously foodie feuding right now it's punk it's Sammy it's J.U. So 454 00:43:46,680 --> 00:43:50,520 there are some folks that are thinking that there could be a turn at some point I think Tommy 455 00:43:50,520 --> 00:43:55,960 Dreamer said it on busted open radio then he could see Sammy Zayn turning and the lining with these 456 00:43:55,960 --> 00:44:02,760 guys I don't see it that way is there someone out there on raw on smackdown that you think would 457 00:44:02,760 --> 00:44:09,800 be a great third person to add to this group I mean it's hard because you you want them to be on 458 00:44:09,800 --> 00:44:20,120 the level of Sammy J and obviously CM Punk I did like Tommy Dreamer's idea because then that brings 459 00:44:20,120 --> 00:44:27,960 Roman into the mix you know but I mean on paper like excuse me like I'd love to see them bring 460 00:44:27,960 --> 00:44:33,640 A town like I to me if you're gonna have a heel faction you have to outnumber the baby faces so I'd 461 00:44:33,640 --> 00:44:40,920 love to see them bring in like an A town down under which if I'm not mistaken one of those guys is 462 00:44:40,920 --> 00:44:46,360 wrestling grace oh no shameless shameless wrestling grace and wall or Monday nights on a roll I can't 463 00:44:46,360 --> 00:44:51,160 remember because they're sorry money in the bank qualifying Monday night as well I just think you need 464 00:44:51,160 --> 00:44:57,400 a chance facing on Monday it might be grace and wall or yeah I think you're right it is grace and 465 00:44:57,400 --> 00:45:03,480 so theories the most logical choice because he has the history with Seth and you also if you're bringing 466 00:45:03,480 --> 00:45:12,520 up brawn you also want to elevate one of your younger talents trying to think to me like it's 467 00:45:12,520 --> 00:45:17,640 he's gonna be you're the somebody a turn which would be a sami zane to bring Roman reigns into the mix 468 00:45:17,640 --> 00:45:24,600 makes a bunch of sense or you know like I said before like a brawnson read like brawnson and Seth have 469 00:45:24,600 --> 00:45:30,680 a little bit of history so you need somebody big massive or you need somebody to turn their backs 470 00:45:30,680 --> 00:45:37,000 on the fans inside with them you know what yeah go ahead no no go ahead doctor I'll just say I 471 00:45:37,000 --> 00:45:42,200 also try to figure is there somebody that has history with either somebody already on the like 472 00:45:42,200 --> 00:45:47,320 amen ed does he have history of somebody or history with the family on something that's why I was 473 00:45:47,320 --> 00:45:53,160 trying to figure out like is there I am and right now my brain is not connecting enough dots I would 474 00:45:53,160 --> 00:45:56,760 love I don't think it fits his character but I would love to see carrying cross out into the 475 00:45:56,760 --> 00:46:04,040 group see I think carrying is like I think one that's when the riots come back you'll see carrying 476 00:46:04,040 --> 00:46:11,560 with the riots but isn't the riots on smackdown yeah but isn't no carrying is on both shows to me 477 00:46:11,560 --> 00:46:18,760 no he's on raw like yeah carrying needs to either get his own group or be alone because he doesn't fit 478 00:46:18,760 --> 00:46:26,600 in the model of following someone else you know um trying to think who else would be a good 479 00:46:26,600 --> 00:46:32,120 fit I mean if you're breaking up the judgment day why don't you throw a dom in there or a thin in 480 00:46:32,120 --> 00:46:39,960 there interesting dom would be interesting so I just I just think with a carrying thing like I 481 00:46:39,960 --> 00:46:46,120 could you imagine like Heyman and carrying crosscutting promos together yeah but they're then 482 00:46:46,120 --> 00:46:51,720 they're on the same side and it's really hard you want to see and go at it yeah and so that's why 483 00:46:51,720 --> 00:46:56,440 you would need them on opposite sides they have great promo battles otherwise it's kind of like when 484 00:46:56,440 --> 00:47:03,640 pumpkin Heyman were together as eels Heyman didn't talk much you know punk still did most the talking 485 00:47:03,640 --> 00:47:10,120 and then they just use Heyman to kind of be the intermediary when you know they're just trying to 486 00:47:10,120 --> 00:47:14,520 create some heat without punking physically involved and that would be the same kind of dynamic with 487 00:47:14,520 --> 00:47:20,600 carrying cross and Paul Heyman is carrying with you all like a lot of talking and Paul's not there 488 00:47:21,160 --> 00:47:27,560 so it's it's kind of like as much as I love to see them paired up it you almost either want them on 489 00:47:27,560 --> 00:47:34,040 opposite sides or you want them you know on opposing brands like or opposing angles like they kind of 490 00:47:34,040 --> 00:47:40,680 have them now um trying to think is there anybody in NXT that you could think of that would actually be 491 00:47:40,680 --> 00:47:46,440 like an oboe femy yeah with Seth and Braun would be great but that's it's too early for that yeah 492 00:47:46,440 --> 00:47:50,680 it's really difficult I mean that was the thing I was like everybody's keep saying like there's 493 00:47:50,680 --> 00:47:56,840 got to be someone that's coming and I don't think like it's a Mac and Tire benefits from that because 494 00:47:56,840 --> 00:48:04,040 he's established I want to see someone more in line with the Braun maker you need somebody younger than 495 00:48:04,040 --> 00:48:10,840 Seth that you can go it's it's the old horseman thing you need that young guy that up and coming guy 496 00:48:10,840 --> 00:48:17,480 that doesn't mind following falling in line behind the more experienced veteran much like 497 00:48:17,480 --> 00:48:23,080 evolution you know things like that where it's the experienced guy and then the younger guy's following 498 00:48:23,080 --> 00:48:29,000 as much of a badass is Braun and you can see a little bit that at some point you know Braun and 499 00:48:29,000 --> 00:48:34,280 Seth are gonna split apart because Hayden is gonna pick a side but you know right now it's like you 500 00:48:34,280 --> 00:48:41,000 need a younger guy a talented guy a Carmelo Hayes if you could steal it from SmackDown like 501 00:48:41,000 --> 00:48:46,440 somebody younger that doesn't really have direction right now that you could fit into that category 502 00:48:46,440 --> 00:48:50,280 and mold them kind of in Aussie kind of like what they try to do with Aime and back with the 503 00:48:50,280 --> 00:48:55,000 Ryback Curtis Axel time oh god yeah talk about periods of time that we try to forget 504 00:48:55,000 --> 00:49:05,320 if Ludwig Cus Kaiser wasn't tied with Gunther I would consider him if Chad Gabel wasn't doing 505 00:49:05,320 --> 00:49:12,200 the El Grande Americana and I had American made I'd love to see him involve it's it's a tough call 506 00:49:12,200 --> 00:49:17,000 and if they have someone earmarked I have no idea who it is actually you know what Dr. Trey we 507 00:49:17,000 --> 00:49:22,680 mentioned his name earlier what about Branson Reed yeah that's what I say in early like Branson has a tie 508 00:49:22,680 --> 00:49:27,720 in with Seth so that would make a lot of sense so you oh you mentioned him before as I was like 509 00:49:27,720 --> 00:49:34,680 racking my brain yeah I did yeah okay so you know you sound like my wife now I was like man I'm 510 00:49:34,680 --> 00:49:38,680 really trying to think about this as you were like saying the stuff and I completely missed that I 511 00:49:38,680 --> 00:49:43,800 mean a great thing would be if they broke up American made and put the creeds with them both 512 00:49:43,800 --> 00:49:50,600 three brothers with them that'd be pretty good because you need either a tagged like you you're 513 00:49:50,600 --> 00:49:59,080 gonna follow the model like every model has been superstar and forcer tag team like that's the 514 00:49:59,080 --> 00:50:04,680 the great setup for all these great virtues that I know they try to get right I think you're right I 515 00:50:04,680 --> 00:50:12,680 think you're right I think it's Branson so and he's up he should be back within the next month no 516 00:50:12,680 --> 00:50:18,760 he's reportedly he's clear okay so if there was a time to do it it would be like this tag team 517 00:50:18,760 --> 00:50:22,680 that's that they're promoting it Saturday night's main event but then the flip side I'm really trying 518 00:50:22,680 --> 00:50:28,360 to like rack my brain like look at every roster like so damn quick here and it's like it's it to me 519 00:50:28,360 --> 00:50:33,480 it's only Branson Reed then the flip side though is what Tommy dreamer said like then if if you bring 520 00:50:33,480 --> 00:50:39,000 Branson Reed and what were you gonna do with Roman like that's that's the big question do you do 521 00:50:39,000 --> 00:50:45,080 Roman and that's your big feud no no got there you said got there yeah no no I think it's I think 522 00:50:45,080 --> 00:50:51,080 it's Roman Seth at like summer slam but then you're kicking one of those other three guys out of 523 00:50:51,080 --> 00:50:55,720 the little three man group of the baby faces have are you kicking Sammy out kicking Jay out who 524 00:50:55,720 --> 00:51:01,320 are you moving out to add a Roman to the mix that's why the Tommy dreamers have made sense because 525 00:51:01,320 --> 00:51:08,760 of Sammy turned that's what we could find with him with Jay and yeah oh it's tough it's a tough one I 526 00:51:08,760 --> 00:51:16,040 it's a tough it's a tough one easy no no no people people act like it is but it's like yeah this 527 00:51:16,040 --> 00:51:19,960 sounds great on paper but then what do you do with this guy this guy and this guy because you're 528 00:51:19,960 --> 00:51:23,960 paying him a lot of money and you have nothing for them to do but are we thinking that way because 529 00:51:23,960 --> 00:51:28,440 there is holes in the WWE stories right now going back to like my initial thing at the top of the 530 00:51:28,440 --> 00:51:34,680 show because I think that could be something that you could say I think this is we you I would say 531 00:51:34,680 --> 00:51:43,320 most years we run into this early post-resolmania reset where okay we don't want to rehash anything 532 00:51:43,320 --> 00:51:49,800 we've done the last year or two years so what can we do to kind of move things around shake things up 533 00:51:49,800 --> 00:51:56,280 create different storylines so like you and I have sat here many a year not last year maybe 534 00:51:56,280 --> 00:52:00,920 a year before because those stories were pretty much set but you go back two years we had the 535 00:52:00,920 --> 00:52:05,880 Brock Lesnar turn right after WrestleMania and we were like what the hell was this where this come 536 00:52:05,880 --> 00:52:11,480 from like there's always that little early and I say year but it's post-resolmania year 537 00:52:11,480 --> 00:52:19,960 because you know wrestle WWE's year runs made April so early year WWE they always have these 538 00:52:19,960 --> 00:52:24,760 kind of weird shakeups where it feels like the storylines a little off track or it doesn't make a 539 00:52:24,760 --> 00:52:30,360 whole lot of sense yet but then by right after my in the bank they have their groove going again so 540 00:52:30,360 --> 00:52:36,760 I just think right now it's kind of like we have all these pieces how do we create the picture from 541 00:52:36,760 --> 00:52:42,120 the puzzle and move things around where everybody has something to do or and we're maximizing 542 00:52:42,120 --> 00:52:48,280 what we're paying all these guys. It's a tough one it's I think they probably have an idea I would 543 00:52:48,280 --> 00:52:55,000 hope they do but it's a tough one. Lastly here we wrap up this week's edition of the show Dr. 544 00:52:55,000 --> 00:53:02,840 Tre with some unfortunate and sad news wrestling legend Sabu passed away over the weekend 545 00:53:02,840 --> 00:53:09,160 and he most recently wrestled in his final match in GCW barbed wire match against Joey Genelle 546 00:53:09,160 --> 00:53:17,240 about three weeks prior to his passing during WrestleMania weekend as time goes on and people 547 00:53:17,240 --> 00:53:23,400 may not be accustomed to one's work and if you're older guys like Dr. Tre and I then you understand the 548 00:53:23,400 --> 00:53:30,680 impact that Sabu had in like 94 95 96 him and ECW people were not doing the stuff that he's doing was 549 00:53:30,680 --> 00:53:38,040 doing back then and it was innovative it was creative he was had an aura about him that was super 550 00:53:38,040 --> 00:53:45,800 cool and a lot of fun and when he came over to WWE in the mid to late 2000s for that awful ECW 551 00:53:45,800 --> 00:53:51,320 relaunch they did it was like insane to see him wrestling John Cena I believe it's summer slam 552 00:53:51,320 --> 00:54:03,000 Sabu was a one of a kind innovative wrestler and tragically passing away at six years old I mean 553 00:54:03,000 --> 00:54:10,680 that is young that is incredibly young was a true legend of the wrestling game and one of the best 554 00:54:10,680 --> 00:54:16,760 Dr. Tre I was really really saddened here that Sabu passed away this past week yeah this is one of 555 00:54:16,760 --> 00:54:21,560 those rare times for the show where I've actually had a personal interaction with somebody that 556 00:54:21,560 --> 00:54:33,560 had passed away like this like he was at wrestling con two for us we did the ECW style show and like 557 00:54:33,560 --> 00:54:39,800 I remember like I I'm not intimidating I just I don't like bothering people I think are way more 558 00:54:39,800 --> 00:54:46,840 famous than me so I kind of not always kept my distance in the locker room but you know give guys 559 00:54:46,840 --> 00:54:53,800 their space I mean these are guys who are have been on the WWE stage or the you know the WCWAW stage 560 00:54:53,800 --> 00:55:01,080 whatever it is and now they're in like a small middle school gymnasium locker room is where they're 561 00:55:01,080 --> 00:55:10,440 dressing out so I give guys their space but I remember like he had his his wife with him uh Jeanie super 562 00:55:10,440 --> 00:55:16,520 Jeanie super Jeanie was with him at the time and I'm out back and I'm taking a break from the show 563 00:55:16,520 --> 00:55:22,920 because at this point I hadn't gone into I was still angry heel manager Dr. Tre Franklin and so I'm 564 00:55:22,920 --> 00:55:30,360 out back taking a smoke break and I see him and Jeanie kind of like you know probably about good you know 565 00:55:30,360 --> 00:55:35,960 7500 yards away from me so I'm just giving them their space he actually walks up to me and 566 00:55:35,960 --> 00:55:40,360 bums a cigarette off me and we end up talking for just a little bit me just telling him how I 567 00:55:40,360 --> 00:55:44,440 appreciate if I was of what everything he's done for wrestling and him actually giving me a 568 00:55:44,440 --> 00:55:50,680 little props for how good my promo stuff was but when when Jeanie passed to when super Jeanie passed 569 00:55:50,680 --> 00:55:56,360 away a couple years ago I kind of felt like it might trend this way because she was the one who was 570 00:55:56,360 --> 00:56:03,480 always kind of keeping an eye on him not letting him do stupid stuff but it is completely heartbreaking 571 00:56:03,480 --> 00:56:08,200 to hear about this because I mean he was so far ahead of his time I mean a lot of ways for 572 00:56:08,200 --> 00:56:13,000 old school wrestling fans that maybe don't really know his work it was kind of like if Sean 573 00:56:13,000 --> 00:56:19,640 Michaels and Mick Foley had a bait like he could do all this crazy aerial stuff but he had no problem 574 00:56:19,640 --> 00:56:25,640 getting blown up trapped in barbed wire like just one of the toughest son of a gun you'd ever meet but 575 00:56:25,640 --> 00:56:31,080 like an athletic freaking a lot of ways and was so far ahead of his time like all the stuff you see 576 00:56:31,080 --> 00:56:38,360 guys doing now is all credit to him and rock van Dam in a lot of ways so just truly truly tragic news 577 00:56:38,360 --> 00:56:43,720 Jeff I'm gonna have to take a picture of the wrestling con poster for wrestling conto because in a 578 00:56:43,720 --> 00:56:49,160 lot of ways I mean that was just six years ago and I think there's at least four or five people that 579 00:56:49,160 --> 00:56:56,120 were on our show that have now passed away so it's kind of ominous but in a lot of ways like just 580 00:56:56,120 --> 00:57:00,680 really respectful of everything that you know we've done for guys and would guys have contributed 581 00:57:00,680 --> 00:57:06,280 to rock acidity but just horrible horrible news here of him passing because you know I had just 582 00:57:06,280 --> 00:57:11,480 listened to a podcast with him on it saw the GCW stuff because I have friends of mine that 583 00:57:11,480 --> 00:57:19,640 work GCW and to hear the passing was just just shockingly and heartbreaking in a lot of ways yeah it 584
